SOMEONE please write the Neverafter modern au fanfic where Gerard impulsively becomes a foster parent for Pinocchio and Ylfa after he and Elody “take a break” (it’s not a divorce, he insists, it’s temporary) and because of course he let Elody keep the mansion, he’s not going to make her move out he’s not a monster, he now lives in a little suburban house next to the overly indulgent Timothy Goose, his husband, his son Jack, and his incorrigible cat Pib. Soon after his cousin Rosamund turns up on his doorstep not offering any explanation, but her parents don’t seem to be looking for her and Gerard knows a little too much about parents who don’t look for their children, so she lives there too now and is helping out with Gerard’s strange little foster kids. Ft. Gerard sleeping on the couch every night because of course he gave the master bedroom to Rosamund and Ylfa and Pinocchio share a room with a bunk bed; Timothy helping out where he can, most often in the form of giving way too many cookies; Pinocchio dragging Pib everywhere and trying to use the cat as a scapegoat for half the mischief he gets up to (the other half is things Pib actually did but no one believes a cat would be capable of); the weirdly intense social worker Mr. Wolf; Timothy’s coworkers at the local school Scheherazade and Aesop; and Pinocchio’s ever growing collection of stuffed animals including Senator, cricket, Pinocchicrow and Spinocchio

I love the glint you can see in Zac's eyes right before he lies as Pib. It's so funny. Like there's a split second of recognition that this is a situation he can lie in and he just goes for it.

Something really got me about Pib and Tomas

like Pib wasn’t mad that the counsel of kings took away his happily ever after by sending the giants to their kingdom, he got mad that they screwed Tomas over.

Like, the two of them grew a relationship of Tomas playing by the rules to get them their place while Pib broke them in the background to push them further along.

To know that something happened to a friend that you couldn’t protect them from, like you had so many times before, must’ve crushed Pib so much.

In all definitions of a trickster spirit Pib should have been a complete selfish asshole. But instead it was like yeah he lies and steals and cheats to get what he wants but what he wants is to help.

Gorgug giant half-orc barbarian who just wants to make friends and cries when his rage wears off.

Colin Provolone fully made us think he was down for killing whoever he needed to and then It Happened. Turns out he’s actually a sweetheart who spent days tracking down the family of the random dude he killed to just give them something. ANYTHING that might help ease the burden.

May be a bit of a reach but Skip kinda falls into this as well. In the sense that he actually had zero interest in using his host for anything beyond just having a good time. Dude just wanted to chill. Not use the bodies of thousands to destroy an entire planet in a cosmic slug orgy. His kindness is passive and incidental but I’ll still take it lmao.

Do I even need to go over Lapin? Dude died for Candia. I think we’re all familiar with the asshole to martyr pipeline.
