While I answered in the last one, I think I'll add to it by saying I love the Ds9/Voyager Uniforms--Infact I'm a HUGE sucker for them--At least to me, they feel like THE signature trek costume rather than TNG or TOS ones. Plus, they are fun to draw! I love how they look on the actors with the structured upper half, and loose, high-waisted pants that give everyone the illusion of height.

Those that are dressed in the uniform are portrayed with a respectable heft and a pleasant, overall shape. I know it's not the case, but they look like they are really practical. This is fully intentional as the lead costume designer said they wanted the suits to appear modular and have advantages in different environments. That's why sometimes they are unzipped or twisted around, depending on the narrative.

I could go on and on about them. I act feral over how they look when when all the actors stand together, turned in various ways, posing so that that folds pucker on their joints, or when subtle differences in their body sizes take up screen. It just looks so cool! I'm a big fan of squad-based, colour-coded uniforms and clean silhouettes.

Most importantly though, it gives them all BODY-ODY-ODY!!!

🍽️What alien food/drink would you want to try?

I wish I could find the video but I've seen bits and pieces about how they designed the food on the sets and I think it's super charming!

Lots of effort went into considering the cuisine. It just about decorates every set and It was important to the show. Voyager engaged in a lot visual gags, or dialog discussing food. It was in a comforting way that would present the characters with their personal ideals of home.I find that subtext of world-building really endearing.

Many scenes involved characters bonding in the mess hall, socializing around food, or isolating with it to gain a sense of self. In contrast, it's used as a device for diplomacy, or to make settings seem more alien, unnavigated and removed from regular comforts. It's even incorporated into main plot points, such as with Tuvok in ''Riddles'', when he gains a newfound skill around cooking after a serious accident, and he solves the plot by decorating a code on a cake. Through food, we saw a lot of what it could be like to be a crew member on the ship, and live inside their Universe. It wasn't always pretty but they made it work.

We have a really rich food bowl and diverse food-culture In Australia, I love noticing exotic food that are used as set decoration of as props--I am used to seeing tropical fruit or Asian ingredients around my community, so it's fun to see it transformed. And much like the characters in Voyager, I relate to the comfort and the charting of new territories when it comes to seeing/ eating food.

I suspect being a chef / working in hospitality would be an interesting occupation in Trek. Everyone complains about the lack of authenticity from replicated food, so I'm sure being a good Chef would be worth your while.

I genuinely want to try Old-mate Neelix's cooking. He seems so creative and passionate about what he plates up, and he CLEARLY (they all put on weight haha) kept the crew well-fed. ''Bitches make do'', but you can tell he cares by the questions he askes everyone, or the detail he places into his recipes. I'd like to see what all the fuss is about with Leeola Root Stew. I bet it's not that bad! (I like bitter food) Or better, serve me up a Jimbalian Fudge cake! It's so quaint how there is an evolution to his work as he gets more integrated with everyone.

what does a player cheating in a game look like to the characters. i have a b2 run where i cheated in a darkrai as a starter bcuz it's cool, but to my protag they're just going "woahh!! i didn't know tepig was a dark type!" and bianca's dialogue doesn't change so she is looking at this kid and his darkrai (which he named cuddles) and just goes :| "yeah that's a tepig!!" and leaves

at level 5 darkrai doesnt know any attacking moves, as most legendaries/mythicals do, cuz you can't get them at level 5, so i had to cheat in TMs to beat the first gym. i choose to believe prior to becoming a trainer my character was just an avid TM collector and now he's excited to use them.

there's cheats to not use HMs too. and here i choose to believe its just darkrai doing everything. tree in the way? it got claws and dark powers. strength? no problem. surf? picking him up gently by the scruff and carrying him across the water.

i played it as a dark monotype run for funsies so my character just thinks they're cute and names them all after sleep related terms to match Cuddles the Darkrai. when i got a sneasel i made it shiny and named it Malk. he uses dark types because he geniuenly thinks grimsley is cool and wants an autograph. so he's going for the elite four.

i choose to believe that everyone knows that's not a tepig and instead the bringer of bad dreams but because he's too dumb to get it nobody is telling him ever. darkrai dragged him out of that one spooky house because of bad vibes

everyone doing the typical "wow you're such a special trainer" protag spiel but they're all gritting their teeth smiling because they still want to sleep at night

it started with cheating to spice up a replay and it somehow catapulted into roleplaying and i now have like 4 pokemon ocs-ish that came about this way

I loovveeee theatre!! Which is funny to me because I can barely stand watching movies :D they're not my thing at all, I get bored easily and honestly just isn't a good medium to me.

THEATRE PLAYS on the other hand tho!! They're beloved. One of my favourite storytelling ways ever. I can never get enough of them. I go to every single theater play that happens in my town.

i'll give my own translation too, but let it be known to you that i am genuinely happy that you clarified you're not asking in the "too lazy to try n look myself" way

it translates to "I won't wash my hands for a little while, I don't want to take the pollen from your skin away from myself" and it's a lyric from the czech song called Skládanka (Little Puzzle, i think) by Jan and František Nedvědovi. the song is about waking up with your lover in the bed, it's a lazy slow morning and you don't want to get up but you have to part because the world needs you in work. it's basically just singing about how endlessly the singer loves his wife, that he just wants to be with her

my other favorite lines from it are!: • "Snad se mi zdáš, nebo nechápu nic, snad jsem jen blázen, co chtěl by víc, ty můj vánku, skládanko hezká z kouzelnejch chvil." // "Perhaps I'm just imagining you, or I don't understand nothing, perhaps I'm just a fool, which would want more, my breeze, beautiful little puzzle made of magical moments." • "A tvoje tvář je plná stop mých, začnu se bát, jestli to moje rád ti neublíží." / "And your face is full of my traces, I start to fear, if that loving of mine won't harm you."

Hi Bethany! I've been meaning to tell you that I enjoyed your post about going through the rolling stone list of best albums from 2023 and it inspired me to do something similar! I have been listening to a lot of newer genres over the years but moving further from hardcore and metal which are my fave genres and I wasn't too happy with that. The other day I randomly came across a list of best hardcore albums of 2023 and I decided to listen to them all similar to you in hopes of adding more hardcore into my playlists and it's been fun! hello!! i love this so much?? i feel like an influencer but in a cool way 😎 funnily enough i actually started this a couple of years ago because i felt like i was just listening to the same pop punk/hardcore/metal that i listened to in my teenage years and wanted to branch out! but it really is just a nice convenient way to find new music with no consequences if you don't like it, even if it is in your fav genre because there's always new music that slips under the radar <3

i am a big fan of music in languages other than english and rolling stone does a semi-decent job of including them and (without knowing for sure) i would say spanish is the second most represented language! most of these artists are from south america or caribbean islands but have also seen actual spaniards in the past (rosalia is the first that comes to mind). most non-english albums are from european languages but also get some asian languages as well (mostly kpop and jpop but have seen some south east asian artists) this year's list has had a few african artists but most have been in english (i mentioned mr eazi in my original post and his songs are in ghanian pidgin english)

finally i'm extra glad you sent this because it made me realise i hadn't seen you on my dash for a while and i must have accidentally unfollowed??? stupid ass app sometimes
