Ok, so I have to get this out before it totally melts in my brain, but my melatonin is kicking in and I don't have to wait any longer to post this so my brain is mush right now. BUT I just have to add my voice to all of the others praising the Zavala backstory we're getting, so I'm going to talk about something that I haven't seen anyone talk about yet (at least on my dash).
During the Severance - Grief mission we learn a lot about Zavala's wife and child, but some of the dialogue that really struck me had to do with Safiyah constantly berating Zavala about not opening up, talking about his feelings. Now when Hakim first dies, and he spirals into depression, obviously he isn't going to be talking to anyone about what happened. He can't even manage it with his own wife. And then going back to the Iron Temple, there would have been no one who could have understood what he went through.
And so the years go by, he slowly rises through the ranks and now, he is a commander, a leader. Being at the top can be isolating. There are probably other guardians who have been through something similar, but he is their commander now, it is much harder to form relationships with people with that kind of power imbalance. And I wouldn't be surprised if Zavala started to try to not form many close bonds with people out of protection, to try to avoid that kind of pain again. And then after years go by, it's just how he operates. And it fits with how he has been portrayed over the years I think.
And when it comes to Ikora and Cayde, yes they were friends, but from what we saw during Forsaken, it is obvious that while he was friendly with both, they were obviously closer to each other. I also kind of think it puts his reaction to Cayde's death into a new light as well. Looking back at it, I think he very much just tried to ignore it as best he could, and just focus on what was going on in the reef. The most he allowed himself to do was to just kind of let us do our thing. Just kind of detached himself to ignore the pain as best he could. And while he might have been able to share the pain of loosing a child with Cayde had the subject come up, they lost their children in such different ways it would have been hard to relate I wonder (if Cayde had a child at all, even he is unsure on that part.)
Now to the final part, I really think one of the best things to come out of the alliance with the Cabal is the relationship forming between Zavala and Caiatl (whether just platonic or romantic, I'm up in the air on that subject myself). Because now here is someone else in a leadership role, one of birth granted, but has a lot of the same experiences that he has. Knows about the choices that have to be made, the feeling of losing good people because of those choices, and constantly having to put on the face of being the brave, fearless leader. I absolutely love how supportive she has been for him these past couple of seasons, even more so now with the nightmare of his wife tormenting him. It will be interesting if he returns the favor when she eventually has to deal with her nightmare of Ghaul.
I'm not entirely sure I got down exactly what I wanted, because I keep thinking of what Eris says the nightmares are made of, and so I just thought it was so interesting that his nightmare not only constantly brought up his dead son, but also all of these mentions of bottling up. How he obviously went out of his way to isolate himself from others to a degree, to try and spare himself that kind of pain again. All of the potential friendships and relationships (romantic or otherwise) that he might have missed out on. And so on and so forth. I'm going to call it a wrap now, PLEASE feel free to add on your thoughts, maybe you can make more sense of just what the heck I wrote and put it more elegantly.

I love the "existential dread of discovering you, your family/friends, and anything else you consider 'life', were created only for entertainment of someone else" topic in media!
Though with WH, we're not sure what Eddie's behavior is after making his 'discovery', I think it'd be interesting if we saw him tread that territory, maybe even confront Wally about it?

did you really let them ruin that for you?
when i was younger i worked on a farm for 3 years. during late july and august we would have unfettered access to the strawberry plots. they were all warm and ripe and fresh. i think i ate a pound of dirt back then. i think i picked enough seeds out of my teeth to build a temple. the summer hours are long; i'd come home with the bruising stain of juice running in a seam along my cheeks and fingers and jaw.
why didn't you protect your precious things from other people? you knew this could happen.
i can't eat strawberries from the store anymore, they don't taste right. something about the florescent lights and the chill of them and the way they are absent from the vine. they feel bleached and bland, a wasted party dress. i watch other people eat strawberries and miss enjoying them. none of the store-bought strawberries will have mold or bugs, okay. they will be big and bright red and perfectly shaped. but they are not the ugly and real strawberries of my summer, awarded by the soil and the hot sun up ahead and hours spent crouched, plucking.
i didn't mean to let it get ruined. i wish it hadn't been. i miss having it. but i came back to it afterward and it just wasn't the same as it had been. i know love is never wasted. but it feels like - love did this. it's not that i never loved it, you know? it's that i did.

Tl;Dr - I stopped playing the game but I like the characters and I wanna draw them but idk if the wiki I use is up to date for cards
Do u know any wikis that have up to date cards for all the twst characters-
Asking specifically bc of Malleus cause I can't tell anymore if he has any more new cards bc HE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A 100 DISNEY ANIVERSARY CARD IN THE WIKI I USE 😭
Like compared to everyone else in Disanomia, he has 12 cards (in the wiki I use) and then Lilia has 17 cards 💀
Cause I think Malleus has a Bean's Day card as well, but that could just be a fanmade one, I don't have JP twst nor ENG twst anymore so I can't confirm it myself urhghrhevw 🫠
Malleus doesn't have a Beans Day card, so that would've been fanmade! and the 100 anniversary cards are actually the new round of birthday cards, so most of the characters don't have 'em yet -- Malleus should be getting his in a couple of days, when his birthday event starts! oh god my keeeeeys
I think the wiki.gg stays pretty up to date? it looks to me like they have everything that's currently up through JP, at least. :O I did go through and do a quick count just because I couldn't believe Malleus only had 12 cards, but. he really does have the least...defeated only by Silver with 13...astonishing. we need his gargoyle club wear immediately.
