I recently rewatched Stranger Things, and some scenes in s1 made me think of Cobra Kai.

The scene in s1 when Lonnie showed up for Will's "funeral" and how he talked to Jonathan reminded me of the scene in Cobra Kai of Johnny showing up to lecture Robby after the school called Johnny in s1e4. These deadbeat dads showing up acting like they give a shit about their kids and throwing their weight around.

Then, there's the scene where Joyce was confronting Lonnie for coming just to sue the owners of the quarry, and he claimed that they can use the money they get from the lawsuit for good things like sending Jonathan to college. Joyce asked Lonnie if he even knew where Jonathan wants to go to college. Of course, Lonnie didn't know. Joyce kicked him out cause he'd come for his own selfish reasons. This reminded me of Johnny's scene with Shannon in s1e4. At one point, Shannon commented that Johnny actually knew where his son was for once.

The contexts are very different, but what's the same about Lonnie and Johnny is (1) they came when it benefitted them to / when they felt like it, (2) they're so out of touch with their kids' lives by choice, (3) they have defensive, self-righteous attitudes about it to their kids and their kids' moms, (4) they expected their kids to just do what they say and to trust them, and (5) neither came back to try to do better.

The fact that Johnny never went back in s1e4 showed that he was never committed to doing better for Robby but was just there for himself. Johnny went on a whim and decided to "try" but gave up after some push back and went to the kid who is easy to "try" with and who makes him feel better about himself.

Johnny keeps chasing that kid even more now, while actively endangering and abusing Robby. Johnny in s5 has the same motivations as Johnny in s1, but Johnny in s5 is worse in a lot of ways.

Whereas Johnny in s1 didn't approve when Miguel exploited Robby's injury during the avt, Johnny in s5 didn't disapprove when Miguel made Robby bleed after Johnny had encouraged them to fight harder. After all, the goal was to have them "fight it out" non-tournament style. Johnny made it clear that he doesn't care about what happened between the boys and just wanted things solved on his timeline. Johnny never cared to understand who had started the rivalry and what had happened that led up to the end of the school fight in s2. He didn't care about what had actually happened in the waterpark parking lot in s5e4. In s3, when Johnny saw the bruise on Robby's face, Johnny immediately accused Robby of starting fights. In s4, when Robby told Johnny that Miguel had been the one to attack him in school, Johnny brushed him off with an "I wasn't there... but I know Cobra Kai", projecting his own history with Kreese onto Robby. Johnny has been projecting his view of himself onto Robby since Daniel's comment "maybe he just has a little too much of you in him" comment in s3e2.

In s5e1, Johnny gaslit Robby about looking for him when he went on the run. Then, Johnny minimized his failures with Robby (lying and tricking Robby into the trip was one of those countless failures), projected his own guilt for his own supposed "failures" with Miguel onto Robby, and wanted Robby to follow how he himself deals with his own guilt:

"I know I haven't been there for you, Robby. More times than I can count. But I've also failed Miguel. Hell, I'm the reason he ran off in the first place. I'm out here trying to fix my mistakes so I don't have to live with the regret of making them. If you're serious about making things right, you can start by helping Miguel. I know you have your fair share of regrets when it comes to him... I'm gonna call Carmen. I'll be right back. Finish taking these off."

Johnny walked away, leaving Robby to take care of one of Johnny's own screw ups (the flat tire) while he prioritized yet another Diaz over Robby.

It's ironic that Johnny said, "but I know Cobra Kai" when Robby told him that Miguel had attacked Robby in school, but Johnny has never considered Miguel's fault in all of this. Johnny (like the fandom) doesn't want to destroy the pristine image he has of Miguel. Miguel's motivations to hurt Robby in s5 were still the same as in s1. Now, he just uses the school fight as validation and gaslights Robby in s5e5 about his own actions in the school fight, "Last time we fought like this, how come you didn't hold back?" Maybe try not attacking and baiting someone like a psycho, huh Miguel? Of course, the lesson Johnny had given Miguel since the avt is "strike first, strike hard, show mercy sometimes". So essentially it's "attack and beat my kid up as much as you want, just show him mercy in the end", which Miguel followed through with in s2 and in s5. At least, Robby was allowed to fight back when Johnny told them to fight it out. Regardless, Robby is Miyagi-Do and had told Johnny that he wants his space, but Johnny cornered him with Miguel. This was despite Robby's admission after the avt that Cobra Kai had made everything worse for Robby. This fight was Cobra Kai (Johnny and Miguel) vs Miyagi-Do (Robby), just like the school fight had been and just like Silver and Daniel's fight was later in that episode. In s5e4, Johnny had questioned Shannon if Robby would be safe with her over the summer, but after Johnny got to keep Robby, Johnny proceeded to have him beaten into submission for his own purposes. Johnny himself called it "submission".

In Stranger Things, Joyce is portrayed as an imperfect parent that's a realistic mess but no doubt loves her sons and even went into another dimension to rescue one of them. Joyce has her flaws. For example, when they first realized that Will wasn't at home, Joyce got upset with Jonathan for working instead of making sure Will got home. Jonathan is parentified because of these responsibilities, but there's never a doubt throughout s1 or later if Joyce cares about her sons. She never gave up on Will, and she cares about Jonathan. Later, when Jonathan wanted to go into dangerous situations to save Will, Joyce refused to let him. Joyce is the kind of parent that you can say, "she tries her best with what she has".

Johnny doesn't deserve the claim that he tries their best with what he has. Not in s1 nor later. In s5, Johnny just used Robby as a thing to feel better about himself and continued to prioritize other people over Robby, neglecting and abusing Robby in the process.

At the end of s5, Silver told the audience what to expect if the baby plotline continues:

Johnny's just gonna screw up another kid.

Nothing throughout s5 contradicted this statement.

First off, thank you so much! It's the best feeling ever knowing my art can make people happy just like that :]]

As for your question, I recently just rewatched a good chunk of S2 Part 2 but some of the details around the later bits are still fuzzy (rewatching em is quite hard for me as the english dubs aren't exactly that easy to find out there unfortunately)

I will say though, rewatching it really opened my eyes to just how much of a downgrade Part2 is compared to S1 and even just S2 Part1 itself, not just in story but in like the voice acting and animation. The voice direction is a bit off, characters sound flat, and the animation just feels... weirder, if that makes sense. It's not the worst thing in the world though, it's just an unfortunate thing I happen to notice. They also changed some of the VAs I think (liek Rema's) which was a strange decision but alright ig... There's also the reusing of so many games instead of new ones but oh well... Despite all my problems with it though, I like the inclusion of the new characters (Manus and all the other Leos Valiants). The Leos are all such silly guys :]] I do wish the DV7s got more screentime and played a bigger role though, the first episode for part2 really fooled me into thinking they would lmaoo

S2 Part1 still holds up, certainly not as good as S1 but still, it's got charm! I love the setting actually, Old City is such a bright and colorful place with like all these abstract and messed up winding pathways, it's so weird and funkyy, I dig it a lot!

So pretty!! God... just like how funky the cities look with all of them being like giant floating islands, it will always be cool af to me

Ik most of my followers don't care about runningman much but in the off chance some non-rma fan sees this, look at Tree City (pic below), I love it so much

Although... sometimes it really does feel like Season 2 is where the studio decided to lean more into it being a children's show. It's a lot less "dark" compared to S1 which is a tad disappointing. Like just compare Akong's battle (where the dude literally uses a bunch of the old guys to power up his thingy 😭) compared to CG's big mech fight. Still, I liked it! I like the neat guardians (the lil pullulu spirits who guard the gate, Vivace and Ensemble twins my beloved <3).

ALSO ALSO THE IRON BEAST, I can always appreciate a big robot guy aha

That's all I really got for the ramble aha, I'd say more stuff about S2 and maybe my views on it will change overtime but as of now, I haven't even really gotten around to properly finishing it yet. I remember watching it waaayyy back but it was all in korean with zero subtitles 😭 luckily, I am in a server with people sharing english versions so I'll probably watch those when I get more free time!

I really just miss talking about this show really and I feel like I've largely outgrown the fandom in old spaces where I used to talk in (like Facebook groups and Amino lmfaoo), so it's absolutely awesome to find RMA fans over here on tumblr!

sweet/savoury/spicy: first choice is savoury but one of my favourite things is when savoury meals have a sweet component (mango curry, duck with peach or plum sauce, recently i made a potato gratin with apple slices in it). i can eat spicy things if i have to but i don't enjoy it as a flavour

relationship status: lost to the horrors

current obsession: i feel like i've been incredibly all over the place the past few months but i appear to be having a horror movie moment spurred by watching Evil Dead, so i'm rewatching some horror movies I enjoy and listening to podcasts etc.

last film: I am cracking up because I just realized what AMAZING film @pressdbtwnpages and I watched on YouTube this past weekend: Parent Trap IV: Hawaiian Honeymoon.

Turnsgiving 2023: Day 2

Least Favorites

To me, Turn is Perfect but Also Not Perfect but also The Greatest Show of All Time, so finding me dissing it only happens once in a blue moon.

Over the course of Turn and Tea, I’ve only watched seasons 3 and 4 once— I just only recently finished s3 for the second time. Not because I think they’re bad television, but because there are some moments that I don’t find as exciting to revisit.

My two nitpicks deal with Abe and Robert Rogers. In s1, Rogers was an intriguing character and watching him is fun! He’s a Scottish brute whose survival skills rival only Simcoe’s and he’s a foil for Washington, who he knew during the Seven Years War. I do wish they went into his historical dealings, specifically with the capture of Nathan Hale, but his and Ben’s face off is still a great moment in the show.

Rogers and Caleb’s scavenger hunt at the beginning of s2 was still fun, but after he leaves at the end to find the “Northwest Passage” I excepted to never see him again. And honestly? It should’ve remained that way. I avoided rewatching s3 for a couple reasons, but one of the was that I didn’t care to see Rogers and Abe fighting in a hole in the ground! If I wanted to watch men fight in dark holes, I’d go watch Poldark or a war drama! Okay… well… a different war drama!

Speaking of war and Abe Woodhull, that leads me to my next point. Private Woodhull. PRIVATE WOODHULL. What even WAS this?! Who ALLOWED THIS?! And to drag a poor Dragoon in it… Sergeant Champe I’m so sorry! You did that all on your own and they made you work with Private Tintin instead and forced me to watch it! #savethehorsegirls

But the most ridiculous part was having him to be shot at Yorktown! YORKTOWN. The most main character moment EVER. I get they wanted the gang all together but god… at what cost!!

Anyways. That’s two of my gripes with the show. I’m normal now. We all know I’m president of the Richard Woodhull Hate Club, but that’s just another day at Headquarters.

(S4 will be the next season I rewatch. Why did I only watch it once? Because I had a breakdown when I finished it but that’s digressing.)

finished the gem that was 55:15 never too late :')

just finished 55:15 never too late and oh my god what a gem of a show!!! im so so so so glad i watched it.

i decided to give it a go just for nanon and khao but the show gave me so much more than them. idk why it took me till the last two episodes to get just how much emphasis the show was putting on the importance of friendships/ the platonic bonds in one's life, truly i can't think of the last time (probably heartstopper s2) where there was just so much beautiful expressions and forms of platonic bonds- the bonds between the 5 main leads (especially jaya and songphon, but also san and thep), songphon and mathee (from mathee's side it was platonic :3), songphon and his niece, jaruni and her father, jaruni's father and bomb, thep and his son, thep's son and san, thep and san, jaya and her manager -that you are my everything moment was really EVERYTHING to me.

as my usual practice of sharing my umpteen screenshots here's my most fav platonic moments from the last two episodes :')

who let him out of my pocket ughhhh songphon/paul one of my fav characters of all time now

one thing i've found it hard to come by in the shows i've been watching recently (bl dramas, mostly thai) is how there is next to no male interaction with women, and if there is, the bonds are very superficial or they stick to certain "acceptable" rules. so you could imagine my shock when i saw this scene of jaya sleeping soundly next to paul on the same bed. it is objectively a very normal/inane thing. but we just NEVER get representation of men and women simply being and existing as friends and doing friend things like sometimes sleeping in the same bed with the friend's pic on a frame that you're hugging (WHAT! ITS NORMAL), and so it really shook me. i love their bond so much :')

CUTIEEES.

also this moment...

as a person who genuinely believes that friendship >>>>>>>>>> every other relationship, seeing these words uttered between two lifelong friends made me tear up and HOW!! one of the most special things ive seen on media.

also not lost on me how my two most favourite platonic moments featured jaya who is the only character who isnt given a romantic storyline/sideplot/spouse. also point to note that jaya and paul are the only two characters who didn't get a traditional "romantic ending/closure" and they ended up getting such beautiful expressions of platonic love. LOVE that for them :')

that being said i cried at the part where phiphu read paul's letter and they put that montage of them laughing over it like HOW DARE THEY

i'm sorry but the mirroring in expressions drove me insane on first sight itself

eventho i found their love difficult to fully enjoy cos of the nature of it, this scene was just too beautiful not to love and im so glad paul got to express it

also khao looked so ADORABLE here i almost burst into tears not kidding!!!!

not to end the post without a nanon face appreciation pic- he was excellent throughout the show as expected and particularly in a fantastic scene in the finale episode that very few people could have pulled off like he did, what a frickin treasure he is.

to conclude what i wanna say, i wanna reiterate once again how i really REAAAAALLY enjoyed the show through and through

and while this mostly typo free post wont probably be making it obvious but im writing through tears, it was such a wonderful thing to experience. idk if and how much i would rewatch it but i think it's right up there with some of the best shows ive watched ever.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Last movie: During my long and tedious transatlantic flight I watched The Fablemans, by Steven Spielberg, Empire of Light, by Sam Mendes, and Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse. All three excellent.

Currently watching: Finally tackling season 3 of For All Mankind. Not sure why I postponed it for so long, it's such a good show!

Other stuff I watched this year: Good Omens S2, like everyone else. Also just started Foundation.

Shows I dropped this year/didn’t finish: It was so bad that I've already forgotten about it.

Currently reading: Cher Connard, by Virginie Despente. A very post-#MeToo story from one of the fiercest feminist French writers.

Currently listening to: The French radio out of order (I'm currently in the US, but I like keeping up with the news, and I like my daily routine timed on the morning programs, so I'm listening the morning news in the morning, despite them being 9 hours old. Other times of the day, I just pick whatever program of the day I want to listen.)

Currently working on: I have 2 short Zorro one-shots in the work. I have also re-opened the WC/Forever crossover of doom... (also, a multi-chaptered Zorro fic that is on pause for plot reasons, an idea for a sequel to my last fic, AND quite a fun concept for a Disney Zorro/Mask of Zorro crossover)

Current obsession: As you may have noticed, I currently am in a sort of Good Omens phase... (but also my brain can't seem to get over the Zorro obsession, so...)

All right, fellow MCU fans

So, after seeing the Marvels today, it got me thinking. Now, you probably don't know who I am. But I do happen to be a writer. Not a very good one mind you (several people would say otherwise, but shush, give me my self-loathing) Phase 4 (and the current parts of 5) is not that great. So I want to rewrite the Multiverse Saga. Yes. The entire thing. Even though it's not finished.

Very long blocks of text below. It's really the only thing that keeps me organized. Please read it though if you are interested. It'll be split up into sections, for somewhat easy perusal.

Now, I know this is an ambitious project, and one not done. I am no stranger to things like this, see my own game/show I'm making. (This is the only time I'm going to mention it. But I am pretty proud of it) So, for my very small amount of sanity, I'm stopping it at The Marvels, and Loki season 2 (Oops, still not finished with it yet). And I wanted to ask people what they thought was lackluster, or mediocre. Not the Marvel I and many other people grew up on. I do understand that it was flawed before, but when I recently rewatched most of them, I found that my childhood love for them had blossomed into something new. I was 6 when the first Avengers came out. I learned how to shoot a bow because of Hawkeye in that movie. And I think it deserves better, especially after watching the Marvels.

Now, this means everything after Endgame. So from Black Widow to The Marvels in terms of the movies, and the Disney+ series from Wandavision to Loki Season 2. I have a feeling it's going to take me a second to get through the remaining 5 episodes of Loki S2. My family wants to watch it with me, and they're all decently busy... Anyways, that's 10 movies, and 9 series. Although I don't accept Secret Invasion. Like at all. Anyways.

I have yet to decide what I'm going to publish this on. Probably A03, just because that's easiest for me. And I can organize much easier. Do let me know what you think.

So, before I get into the problems I've identified, feel free to stop here, and reblog or ask me your problems with the aforementioned shows and movies. I'm talking writing or character problems, as we've seen in the series. I am a fan of the comics, but you can divert from that, or stick to them.

Oh, and if you say something like "Make it more queer", I am a raging bisexual enby. I will already be making it queer as fuck, and can be convinced to ship pretty much anyone, if I can get a good reasoning behind it. Minors should be shipped with only minors. That's one of my few rules, if you send anything to me. So yeah, I'm doing genderfluid Loki.

Thoughts on everything:

This is just here so that I don't get a ton of repeats. I'll go movies first, then the TV shows.

Black Widow (2021) - Honestly, this is too late of a movie. Natasha deserved this before Endgame or Infinity War came out. But release dates aside, Taskmaster needs more screentime, and a chance to show how menacing they are. Natasha also needs more time with her family, and the parents need to be fleshed out a bit more. Belova is far too smart to be tricked by the lady in the post-credit scene.

Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings (2021) - I don't have any major problems with this movie. The Great Protector, or the dragon, and the supernatural creature, I think he's called Dweller In Darkness, kinda felt a little blank, and the Dweller shouldn't have died, only been pushed back. And I don't like Katy that much. Trevor is much better comedic relief in my opinion.

Eternals (2021) - Oh boy, where do we start with this one? You know it's bad if I can't remember any of the main characters names besides Ikarus. And that's because I was laughing my ass off at him throwing himself into the sun. There was also the Celestial I think it was? Anyways that thing broke islands up, and then just became a massive statue, and like no one mentions it? I don't remember much else about this movie, even after having watched it like 3 times. Oh, and the Ebony Blade was shown off. I like that if they can do something fun with that.

Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) - Dr. Strange feels a little shoe-horned in. The whole sanctum being overtaken by snow was pretty clever, but Strange being a father figure to Peter is not super well established. Could be fixed with a couple of rewrites. Or Strange and Stark being together. Peter is a dumbass, and the reason for him starting the whole plot... is so dumb. I understand, teenagers can be stupid, hell, I go to public high school, but Peter's shown he's a lot smarter than this. But I do like the crossover (Dafoe as Green Goblin my beloved) and the fact that the other Spidermen get to say goodbye in one last movie. Anyways, Ned's wizard connections need to be elaborated on as well.

Doctor Strange: Multiverse Of Madness (2022) - Alright, getting my biggest problem out of the way first. Wanda's corruption arc should have been shown. It should have been developed through the movie, and Wanda should have been with Strange and America. She can still be evil, and die after she realizes her actions, but this basically destroys the point of Wandavision. She was willing to say goodbye. Wanda has been a favorite of mine for years, and I read her comics religiously as a child. We need to see the power of the Scarlet Witch. What it did without Wanda. Her "No More Mutants" line sent chills down my spine the first time I read it. Sam Raimi directed this movie. Strange and Wanda should have had more horrific shit. And that one Strange with 3 eyes should have been the one from What If. We need horror in this. America also needs to be more fleshed out. I do love her, but we get like one scene of her being traumatized of basically growing up nowhere. Her moms get to stay though. I'm just going to ignore the last post-credit scene, because... that's setting something up I'm not sure of.

Thor: Love & Thunder (2022) - First up, Gorr has a great setup. He needed more screentime though. We need to see more of his god killing. They should rightfully be shitting their pants over this man. Thor leaving to save Sif was a good move, but that joke ruined the tension. She should have died there, proof of the god killer. Jane Foster is perfectly fine, and her arc is a lovely send-off. I would have loved some more stuff about the kids, especially Heimdall's. I don't even remember his name. He should have been shown doing something in Jane's return to Asgard, something that showed off his parentage. The meeting of the gods is a great scene, but there should have been people who spoke up, and then promptly getting thrown out, or even getting killed. Even more of a reason for Thor and crew to convince him. I think everything else is pretty good. Also Valkyrie is perfect in this movie. Bi queen. And her Loki knives are lovely.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) - I actually think this one just needs a couple of little tweaks. I understand why they couldn't have T'Challa show up in the spirit world, and Killmonger was great, but I still think something between the siblings would be good. Fuck, I love the funeral scene. It was a lovely sendoff to both T'Challa, and Chadwick. Namor seems a little rash though. Might just be the comics leaking through on that matter but I do like the Mayan inspirations in the movie!

Antman: Quantumania (2023) - I'm not really sure on this movie. I don't like Janet in this movie. She feels too secretive. She could have told them plenty, even lied that Kang had gone home. He'd gotten out somehow. Kang didn't seem scared enough of the others, but that might just be me thinking of that. Oh, and MODOK sucked. He shouldn't be a joke. But Darren could have done something else, because he is in there.

Guardians of The Galaxy V.3 (2023) - Perfection in every way. I'm not changing anything unless it involves getting everything I'm incorporating in. And the Christmas Special is also great.

The Marvels (2023) - Spoilers! Kamala needed more screentime, she just generally felt disconnected from the plot besides her bangle. And I also wanted a more menacing villain. That's been the problem with them recently. They don't make me think that they could actually beat them. I like everything else though. Flerkins were great as usual. I love these stupid creatures so much. That one scene was beautiful.

Now to the shows! These are going to be so much shorter.

Wandavision (2021) - I think this is good. No notes.

Loki S1 (2021) - Good, besides the Sylvie/Loki romance. They are siblings. I'm not sure if there's anything else that I really had a problem with. It's been a moment. Which is a shame. I love Loki (Also bi confirmation! I love it!)

The Falcon & Winter Soldier (2021) - I also think this is good, besides maybe having some problems with the villain. Bromance all the way.

What If...? (2021) - Also pretty good. Little self-contained story. I like the zombies.

Hawkeye (2021) - I also think this one's pretty well written. Macaroni is constantly referenced in my house. Lucky is also a pretty boy.

Moonknight (2022) - Honestly, god tier. Anyways, no one mentioned the stars literally turning in Egypt. But maybe it was just the people thinking that they were drunk as shit and seeing something.

Ms. Marvel (2022) - Second favorite being Moonknight. I also don't remember anything glaringly wrong.

She-Hulk: Attorney At Law (2022) - Besides the tone of the show being inconsistent as shit, I think this show should have dove into some of the topics it brought up more. It just seemed a little surface level. Maybe a WWDITS style mockumentary would work better.

Secret Invasion (2023) - THIS ENTIRE SHOW SUCKS ASS. THIS WHOLE THING WAS DONE SO BADLY. I am not taking anything from this show

Loki S2 (2023) - Too distracted by another season 2 coming out, so I have yet to finish. I have heard it's good though. I've seen the first episode, and it's going pretty good so far.

Fucking around and finding out

My name is Marr! I use He/She/They and any pronouns. I’m Omni, Bigender, and Aspec. Playing around with some labels for now, but I feel pretty comfortable with these. I’m okay with any gendered terms, so just pick the one that looks the best in the sentence lmao.

I have ADHD and anxiety (both diagnosed) along with other things, but those are the ones I’ll probably talk about on here the most. I’m mixed White and Latina (plus Native) but (probably?) white passing. I speak English and want to learn Spanish, but I’m definitely not fluent.

Right now im really into Total Drama. It’s one of my longest lasting hyperfixations so far! I also post about a few other things, like House M.D and Dungeon Meshi. (More likely reblogging those things though.)

Specifically in Total Drama I mostly post about Alenoah and Priyemma. Recently been talking about the newest Reboot season (and my complaints with it). I talk the most about World Tour and TDI 2023 because it’s been a while since I’ve watched all the seasons and those are the ones I remember the best. I plan to rewatch them all… someday. I haven’t even finished watching reboot s2 because it’s painful!

I love shipping! I can’t even list them all because there’s so many tbh. I am very much a multi shipper and I constantly am finding new things to ship! I try to not engage in ship hate ever, but sometimes I slip up lol. I post some less-than-positive content about Nemma on occasion or Juliayne… everything that could be considered ship hate is tagged as such and never tagged with the ship that is being slandered.

I can’t really draw, so if I ever post my beginner drawings please be nice lol 😭 I’m still developing a style and learning. I have many, many WIPs that I might share here and there. I do really want to be able to draw confidently and make art for the things I love!

I’ve started writing fanfiction again lately! It’s a struggle for a lot of reasons. Props to everyone who writes fics because it’s hard. It takes me hella long too! I usually get out at least one a month. My user is Marrfixated on AO3, feel free to leave comments or kudos!

I’ve written four Alenoah oneshots so far. Most recently posted Contra Entendre, so go read that! I have 3 other oneshots that are somewhat written and I’ll post someday, but I’ve shifted my focus to planning some longer fics. I currently have an Alenoah AU and a Priyemma post-canon fic in the works!

I also have tiktok @Marrfixated. Recently I’ve been posting on tumblr more than TikTok because it’s easier, but I started off there. I don’t really use anything else yet (except ao3). Don’t post on TikTok as much as I do on here atm, but I do use it. I also have a Priyemma centric sideblog on here (@priyemma), where I’ll sometimes repost content from and vice versa.

Currently Watching: I've honestly been just rewatching stuff lately because I'm in kind of a lull with tv shows. Sometimes watching new shows gives me anxiety ( I am a strange person I know lol), and I have been avoiding watching the last season of Ted Lasso because I know I'm going to be sad. But I have been just putting on Catfish in the background anddddd I did watch the first episode of Heartstopper s2 today (I am trying to be slow with it because but I want to binge it so bad).

Currently Reading: I love books, but I haven't read like a physical one in so long. Like I am stuck in the fan fiction cycle. I am honestly not complaining, some of the fan fiction is top tier and are better than a lot of books, just if anyone was expecting a book published for money? well the last one I attempted to read was 'My Dark Vanessa' which was really good by very triggering so I had to put it down for a bit. Latest Obsession: I mean, other than all things stranger things (ha) and steddie related, I always have something new I'm obsessed with (blame the adhd) and what you to get to know me a little outside the fandom. Currently, I am learning how to crochet (I am terrible at it) but it gives me something to do with my hands, which is nice! Like @doublecherrypiediscosuperfly I am obsessed with my dog right now. I don't have a picture on hand on my laptop, but message me if you want pics! He is adorable, and big and thinks he's a lapdog when he really is not. But I wont crush his dreams.

I'm not sure if this counts as an obsession but I am currently fixated on finding like a really good-smelling perfume, the lasts long but also isn't ridiculously expensive?? If anyone has a suggestion, please tell me I'm coming up blank.

In a recent post, I talked about Miguel being "Johnny" and Robby being "Daniel" in this story. I included the examples of Miguel's pov of Robby at the end of s1 as well as Miguel's first convo with Daniel in s3.

Another example that recently stood out to me while rewatching s2 is how Johnny remembers the events of kk1. In s1e8, his retelling of those events is skewed, but in s2e5 when he and Carmen are talking about Daniel, Johnny's flashbacks specifically show only Daniel as the aggressor. Verbally, Johnny emphasizes to Carmen that Daniel was the bad guy between them.

Rewatching this scene immediately made me think of Miguel's flashbacks of the school fight during the apartment fight in s5e5.

What's important with the storytelling in Johnny's and Miguel's flashback sequences is that we're seeing these events from each of their pov, like how a lot of the story is framed. Johnny doesn't look back at his past actions against Daniel and see himself as the aggressor. Johnny only looks back at Daniel's actions against him and sees Daniel as the aggressor. It's the same with Miguel. He doesn't look back at his past actions against Robby and see himself as the aggressor. Miguel only looks back at Robby's actions against him and sees Robby as the aggressor. In Johnny's case, he was the aggressor at the beach. Also, the tournament match was a mutual fight, although he claims that "that kick" was illegal. In Miguel's case, he was the aggressor in the school fight, as well as in s1 with Robby. Johnny and Miguel both lack humility, especially wrt to these rivalries.

Also, an important thing about forgiveness is that nobody is entitled to it. In s5e5, Miguel asked Robby, "Last time we fought like this, how come you didn't hold back?" Miguel was the aggressor in the school fight. Miguel can't dictate when the person he attacked can or can't feel angry or safe or forgiving. What happened at the end was tragic, but it was an accident. Regardless, Miguel's self-awareness and self-reflection is lacking. Miguel has yet to take accountability for his own actions. This is definitely one of Miguel's major character flaws. He's learned nothing from the school fight and continues with the same behavior in s5. He hasn't changed his Cobra Kai mindset beyond "Don't "finish" the fight. Show mercy. It's not honorable to be merciless." In fact, Miguel is still more than ready to start a fight whenever he feels like it, without considering the consequences, despite what happened in the school fight. Miguel's satisfaction with the conclusion of the "rivalry" in s5e5, which he had started in s1e9, was based on it ending on his own terms, with him getting his version of an "honorable" "win" over Robby and only Robby taking accountability for his actions.

In Johnny's case, he believes that he has grown because he chose to move on and leave the past behind him without actually making things right for the people he has wronged, especially Robby, because Johnny now has new people he can focus on not screwing up with. However, Johnny is still screwing up with Robby and has been priotizing these new people at the expense of Robby's mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Johnny has also not taken accountability and apologized to Daniel for the past, while Chozen and Barnes have both sincerely taken accountability and apologized to Daniel for their past actions. When Chozen and Johnny were talking in s5e9, Chozen said, "We are same. Both make mistakes. Both feel guilt for pain we caused. Now, you have, uh, friends. Family. Children. I always wanted same thing." Chozen has been actively making up for his own past wrongs for over 30 years now. In fact, he told Daniel in s5e9 that he believes that he doesn't deserve Kumiko because what he did to her is unforgivable. Chozen has shown and still shows true remorse and humility about his past actions. Chozen assumes that Johnny has done the same, which of course Johnny has not. Johnny is just focused on moving on. In fact, Johnny admit to Robby that he's trying to fix his mistakes so that he doesn't have to live with the regret of making them. For Johnny, making up for mistakes is about feeling better about himself, which is consistent for his character since s1 and is yet another indication of his lack of growth.

Johnny and Miguel see themselves as the innocent victims and "good guys" in their rivalries with Daniel and Robby, respectively. Laughably, Miguel even told Robby, "I know you think that just because you came down to Mexico you're a good guy. Well, guess what? You're not." In Miguel's pov, Robby will only be "a good guy" if Miguel approves of him. Miguel, Demetri, and Hawk also acted like their approval of Robby returning to Miyagi-Do actually mattered, despite Robby returning to support Daniel.

Overall, Johnny and Miguel refuse to acknowledge that they're not as much the "good guys" that they believe themselves to be. However, there's a lot of context in the story that shows that, outside of their own povs, they're not the absolute "good guys" in their own stories.
