“What just happened?” Drake asks, stunned.

Liam slowly shakes his head. “I honestly have no idea.”

I lean my head against elevator doors, the cool steel soothing the sharp pain stabbing at my frontal lobe.

Hi, God. It’s me, Callum. I say this with full disrespect… you have a sick sense of humor. Believe me when I say I am not one of your strongest warriors; I definitely don’t need to be tested any further. And another thing –

The doors spring open, interrupting my impromptu heart to heart with God. I unobtrusively straighten my jacket as I step out of the elevator and back into the ballroom, and quickly work my way to the bar, keeping an eye out for Maxwell and Hana as I do.

I slide onto a barstool, coming face to face with the bartender from earlier.

“Back so soon?” he asks coyly, leaning his elbows onto the bar top, bringing his face close to mine.

“Couldn’t stay away.” I manage to give him a half-hearted smile. “Could I get a bottle of the Baird Dark Sky and two shots of the seventeen year old Hibiki whiskey, neat? Please?”

“Anything for you, sir.” he says playfully, smirking as he turns away to get my order.

Hi, God. It’s me again… am I a joke to you, old man?

“Here you are, sir.” The bartender slides my order to me, peeking up at me from beneath his lashes. “I was wondering if you had any plans – ”

“Seducing the help already, Callum?”

I’d know that shrill voice anywhere. I still hear it in my nightmares.

“Excuse me, darlin’. I need to speak to Satan’s mistress for a moment.” I twist on my barstool to come face-to-face to with her. How’ve you been, Smokeshow?”

She takes a sip of her drink, gazing at me over the rim of her glass, and shrugs one delicate shoulder. “Busy. Traveling with the court as we partake in this,” she grimaces. “Engagement tour.”

I toss back my first shot, chasing it with a sip of beer before I say anything. “Yeah, about that.” I lean forward and lower my voice. “What the hell happened? Madeline? Madeline, of all people?!”

“She was the best choice out of all the remaining suitors,” Olivia says sourly. “Liam had very few choices by the end of the social season.”

“Where the hell were you when he was making his choice?”

“I was forced to leave the competition shortly after you dropped out.” She gives me a tight smile.

“Why?” I squint at her suspiciously.

“Someone had information about my parents. Something that could hurt them, damage their memory. I couldn’t let that happen. Not even for Liam.”

“Somebody was rigging the competition,” I realize. “They wanted Madeline to win.”

“Exactly,” Olivia says grimly.

“Did you ever figure out who it was?” I ask, sipping my beer.

She looks away, draining the last of her drink before answering me. “Constantine.”

“Why am I not even surprised?” I mutter, throwing back my second shot. “Does Liam know?”

Olivia nods.

“And he still chose to go through with this?” I raise my eyebrows.

She shrugs. “Liam agreed with Constantine that Madeline was the most qualified suitor left. He wasn’t willing to leave Cordonia without a queen.”

“And he’ll do anything for Cordonia,” I finish her thought.

“What else could he do? You had already left; all Constantine had to do was eliminate the remaining competitors until the only appropriate choice was Madeline. He backed Liam into a corner.” She gracefully slides off her barstool. “As fun as this little reunion has been, I’m ready to leave now.”

“See you around, Smokeshow.” I give her a slight finger wave, watching the back of her red dress until she disappears into the crowd. I swivel in my seat, leaning back against the bar top and gazing out into the ballroom. I slowly sip my beer as I study the party guests, scanning carefully as I attempt to locate a certain former king.

Gotcha, old man.

Beer in hand, I slide off my barstool and weave my way into the crowd, moving towards a recessed corner of the room where Constantine stands, accompanied by two bodyguards.

Where’s Bastien?

I leave a few people between myself and the trio, patiently waiting until Constantine becomes distracted by the mayor, who draws him into a lively conversation. A few seconds later the bodyguards turn their attention away from the king and begin scanning the ballroom for threats, each one looking in a different direction. Using the surrounding party goers as cover, I slink over towards Constantine, coming to a stop directly behind him.

“Don’t move,” I say quietly as the mayor moves away, drawing my index finger down his back until it rests between his shoulder blades.

“What are you doing?” he hisses, stopping himself mid-turn.

“I didn’t appreciate you leaking all the private details of my life to the Cordonian media,” I say conversationally.

“MacKenzie.” Constantine clenches his jaw so tightly I can hear his teeth grind together.

“I heard you threatened to do the same thing to Lady Olivia.”

“Liam could not be trusted to make the decision on his own. I needed to make sure that he would make the correct choice for Cordonia,” he says coldly.

“He deserves to have better than you as a father,” I seethe.

“Think what you want. Liam’s decision to wed Madeline is final, and there is nothing that can change that. Did you come over here just to discuss my son’s engagement?”

“No,” I say softly. “I just wanted to let you know I know exactly what you did. And to you remind that no matter how many bodyguards you have, someone will always be able to get to you. Have a lovely evening.”

I melt back into the crowd, quickly putting some distance between me and Constantine’s bodyguards. I spy Hana and Maxwell on the dancefloor, and move to take up a spot nearby to watch them, hoping to speak to them when the song is over. After a few moments, someone steps over to stand next to me. I glance down and see Madeline scowling at me.

“What are you doing here?” she demands.

“I was invited,” I say in a bored voice.

Madeline snorts. “If you’re back in Liam’s life that’s fine. Have all the feelings you want for one another. A tryst here and there can be managed but do not embarrass me.”

“You don’t care that you’re about to marry a man who is in love with someone else?”

“When you’re behind closed doors, you can have his heart and whatever other part of him you want. As long as I have the crown and an heir and a spare, I really don’t care what he does. This is practically the best thing that could’ve happened to you.”

I glance at her out of the corner of my eye. “I think you’re severely overestimating my interest in your future marriage.”

“I’m trying to work with you,” Madeline sighs.

“Once again, not interested.” I shrug my shoulders. “But… if I do decide I want Liam again, I won’t be sharing him. Don’t get too comfortable, Madeline.”

She opens her mouth to snap back, quickly closing it as she sees Maxwell and Hana hurrying towards us. Madeline sneers at me one last time before stalking off.

“Was that Madeline?” Maxwell asks, peeking around me. “Where’s Drake? Have you talked to Liam yet?”

“Drake is with Liam. I’ve talked to him… we’re just taking some time to think about things.”

“We don’t time to think about things,” Maxwell replies. “Liam is getting married in a few days!”

Hana gives him an exasperated look. “Callum is well aware of that, Maxwell.”

“As fun as this has been, I think I’m ready to call it a night,” I quickly interject. “Hana, I’m going to text you my address. If you happen to see Liam or Drake…”

“I’ll be sure to pass it on,” she assures me with a smile.

One long Uber ride later I’m finally back in my building and unlocking the door to my apartment. Sashimi meets me at the door, purring and winding herself around my ankles. I bend down to scratch beneath her chin, and she rumbles with happiness. “Hey, my beauty. How was your night? Did grandda stop by and feed you?”

After living in the same building as my father and his boyfriend for the past nine months, my girl has become accustomed to their visits and the pampering the two of them shower on her. I shed my suit jacket and dress shirt as I move through my apartment, dropping them on the floor as I make my way to my bedroom. I fall backwards onto my bed and stare up at my ceiling with a deep sigh.

What a fucking night.

I close my eyes and sink deeper into my mattress. They shoot right back open a few seconds later as someone loudly knocks on my front door. Groaning, I roll off of my bed and shuffle towards the door. I press my eye to the peephole and have to stifle a gasp when I see who is standing outside in the hallway. I quickly unlock my door and throw it open.

“Now what are you two beauties doing here?” I ask, leaning against the doorjamb and raking my gaze over Drake and Liam.

“We need to talk,” Drake says bluntly.

I arch one eyebrow in interest and step aside, silently inviting the two best friends into my apartment. I wait until we’re settled in my living room to say anything. “So… who wants to start?”

10 characters, 10 fandoms (obscure takes & slightly furry edition)

I was tagged by @tangledupblue and @reliablejoukido approximately forever ago! I’ve actually done this meme two times previously, but there are always more characters to talk about (that cannot be true forever, but we’ll say it’s true for now). So let’s get to it!

Also, I don't feel like tagging this one, but please feel free to do this if you want to! I always love to hear about peoples' favorite characters <3

1. Iago (Disney’s Aladdin)

I… I… I don't have any excuses, I just think he’s neat, ok?! There has always been something about the sarcastic talking animal sidekick trope that speaks to me, even though I can’t explain why. He’s just such a angry, self-centered, fun little guy, and he has a real character arc that runs through all of the 90s animated media! Love his role in the TV series, and I also love that he went off with Aladdin’s dad at the end of King of Thieves. For better or worse, he’s my favorite Disney character, period!

2. Bad Bird/Karamaru (Samurai Pizza Cats/Kyatto Ninden Teyandee)

SPC is a show from the mid-90s era of dubs, and it’s generally beloved for taking a rather loose approach to its translation of the original source material. Bad Bird is yet another bird-type henchman, a rival to the "star" character, a bit of a punching bag, and also not-really-all-that-evil. I uh… I guess I have a type? *shifty eyes*

3. Jose Carioca

Oh sh*t I lied, I do actually have ANOTHER favorite Disney character! Who is a bird!! I honestly don’t know why I have such an attachment to Jose. Three Caballeros was something I ONLY watched at my grandma’s house as a wee one, so I do have some very specific childhood memories of it, and little me always thought this charming parrot was the best part. I have never seen anything he featured in that didn’t originate in the 1940s (yeah, I slept on the DuckTales reunion because I don't have cable or Disney+), but I’ve heard he has (had?) his own long-running comic book series in Brazil. I’ve always wanted to see one of those!

I uh… I definitely have a type. Who knew?? ^^;

4. Ryouga Hibiki (Ranma 1/2)

Ok look. I came into Ranma 1/2 in a pretty weird way: looking it up obsessively on the late 90s Internet, falling in love with character descriptions, screenshots and promo art, and reading fanfiction before I was able to watch or read ANY significant portions of the source material. Ryouga was always kind of my favorite back then, and he still is now (even though I have only seen a few of the OVAs and read about half of the manga). He’s just. He’s such an idiot (affectionate). But he's a great rival, a dog person, has Feelings but is incredibly awkward, and generally means well.

5. Ben Wyatt (Parks and Rec)

Live action? GASP! Just… Ben Wyatt is a MOOD. The entire ensemble cast of P&R is amazing, but it’s incredible how much Adam Scott and Rob Lowe brought to the table. I am very normal about Ben, Cones of Dunshire, and the Letters to Cleo shirt (I am not).

6. Lily Aldrin (How I Met Your Mother)

While I will watch Alyson Hannigan act in pretty much anything, HIMYM is a total comfort show for me, and Lily is just *chef’s kiss.* Don’t really have much more to say than that!

7. Lum(?) (Urusei Yatsura)

UY has such a HUGE ensemble cast with tons of interdependencies, you practically can’t isolate one character without at least three others tagging along. You also can’t think too hard about them, because they are all idiots (affectionate) (there is definitely a distinction to make between characterization being good and characterization being deep). Lum is... not my favorite character (that might actually be the manga version of Mendo?), but she's such a dang icon, plus she’s the one I've tried to draw the most, so that… counts?? Much like Ranma 1/2, I also have to factor in all the years I spent wanting to experience UY. Amazingly enough, I've seen more of it than Ranma at this point!

Currently wishing I could watch the reboot too, because the manga characterization/version of events might actually be getting their day in the sun? :D

8. Bentley (Sly Cooper)

Oof. OOF. Why did I do this to myself. The Sly Cooper series is a 3D platforming series from the PS2 era of video games. Penelope from Sly 3 might be my favorite character conceptually (she brings something really fun to the table, and geek girls FTW!), but her being The Fave is hampered by the fact that she only appears in the one game (What's that? Sly 4? Sorry, don't know what you're talking about). Sly 2 is hands-down my favorite entry in the franchise, and while he’s really difficult to play as, Bentley’s development across the original trilogy is… ghhh. IT’S SO GOOD, as are his friendships with Sly and Murray. Bentley!!! (I still love you though Penelope, you got done so dirty).

9. Donatello (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)

I don’t believe I’ve watched/played/read any TMNT property that is younger than a third-grader at this point. But Donnie’s the Smart One, and he is Purple. ‘Nuff said!!

OK so. Birds and smart turtles. We're learning more about what my types are all the time...

10. Daisuke Jigen (Lupin III)

I have not seen much Lupin III. But Jigen is cool <3

Kizashi Blog Timeline

Old Blog Events

Its Electro had been unsealed by Dottore and it had a Knowledge Capsule containing a dictionary forcibly used upon it.

This Blog Events*

*red denotes the Kizashi x Egret verse

It had Pyro and Hydro added to its structure and use causes Kizashi great pain. After Dottore 'forgot' an important part, Kizashi no longer has function in its left arm. It was unable to accept the Anemo module.

Kizashi then escaped. It was a stowaway on a merchant ship heading to Inazuma. It had a meeting with Nahida in a dream. Meanwhile, it was left on the shore. After waking up Kizashi made its outfit, meeting Jet.

Later Kizashi woke up from a nightmare. When asked, it said it saw Wanderer's memories.

After a battle with Kabukimono, now a stranger, Kizashi went to leave when the puppet met Wolke, a blind bunny-eared child. It then reached out to Cyrille on anon recommendation. After leaving the cave, Kizashi learned that Wolke was experimented on...

Kizashi managed to secure a position on a boat, where everything caught up to Wolke as a fever. Kizashi has been taking good care of Wolke and met some of the crew, playing a dice game with them. Kizashi then brought her soup and Wolke threw up from eating it quickly...

A couple of days later, on the anniversary of their creation, Scaramouche fell into a coma. Kizashi resolved to go to Fontaine and be useful to Wanderer during this time...

Kizashi learned to fish to calm its desire to commit an atrocity. He brought Wolke down to eat and two hours after settling in to nap, Kizashi woke up...

Kizashi left Wolke and Ghost with Adi in Sumeru and set off to cross the desert on foot with Jet. After some time, he entered Fontaine and began searching for Cyrille's house.

He interrogated a man and then went to Cyrille's apartment, being let in by Wanderer. After a brief discussion with the two, he left to earn some Mora...

Messaging Wanderer with information, Chero then made contact with the youngest puppet. Distracting the spider from Scaramouche, he encouraged Chero to insult him and learned more about him.

Eventually, Kizashi went quiet and let anons converse around him without saying anything. When asked about his thoughts, it became obvious that Kizashi shogunned, as Sakura Flammia began talking to the puppet in Morse Code.

Upon hearing that Scaramouche woke up, he left quietly and met with Nahida briefly before leaving to find Wolke and Adi... After encountering Chero again, committing an atrocity, and briefly messaging Cyrille and meeting 'alchemy guy', anons intervened and facilitated a reunion between Hibiki and Kizashi.

After gifting Hibiki a flower, Kizashi met Egret and escorted him back to the city... He then met with Chero that evening before inviting Egret to share a meal with him at Lambad's Tavern.

After being turned into a plant, Egret went to check on Kizashi and the two chatted before Kizashi walked Egret back home. A few days later, Egret invited Kizashi to his house, where Egret opened up about his past...

The next morning, the two shared their past experiences with each other...

Alright | Eri | Endgame

If you had asked Eri three months ago how she imagined her summer would turn out, she would never in a million years guess it’d have gone like this.

[♫♫♫]

Not just because of the murders and demon pacts, mind you. She hadn’t expected she’d make so many friends either. Close ones, too; people whom she’d trip over herself trying to stay in touch with after all was said and done.

So to give them a chance to all go home… Well, who is she to pass that up?

Eri’s not normally the type for reminiscing, but she figures sometimes exceptions can be made. So she slings an arm around Kyousuke’s shoulder, as she pipes up with her own contribution.

“Y’know, I guess it was my bad for not specifyin’ what genre of movie-worthy summer I wanted, eh?”

She snorts at her own joke, before beaming at everyone.

“But at least we get a chance of havin’ a happy ending and fuck, do we deserve it. We all should get to have second chances, yeah? To live life and be better. Plus… uh, I’m…”

She pauses, and her cheeks start to flush. Of course she's suddenly feeling self-conscious about what she wants to say next.

“Man, I, uh, I hate bein’ sappy, but I’m real glad we all got to meet, yeah? Even, um, even if it was kinda sorta actual Hell, I don’t think I’d ever trade it for a normal summer without you guys.”

She shakes her head. And in spite of her bright red face, her brow furrows as she adopts a look of determination that’s become so familiar by this point.

“No, I know I’d never trade it for a normal summer! But we definitely gotta have a reunion, yeah? Like, a normal one in a church or somethin’, so there’s no chance of demons! Or wait— at some kinda nature reserve! ‘Cause demons are naturephobic or whatever, right?”

That’s what she gathered from Max and seeing Max’s mom, at least.

“A park’s way cooler than church, so let’s go with that, yeah? We can have like… Summer 2! And if anyone doesn’t come, I’ll fuckin’ hunt you down and drag your sorry ass there, got it?”

Her eyes glimmer with affection even as she makes this threat. She’s come to care so much for everyone here: from Audie and Suzy, to even Niko and Hibiki. Although not all of them are her friends, she’s still happy to have met them.

As she contemplates this, her expression softens some. And she adds quietly, as if thinking aloud to herself:

“We’ll all get to meet again, huh?”

?????: (Stands Behind the Gate While Looking Up at the Mansion in Front of Him) Ah.....So this is the mansion the small, masked hooded fellow told me about....(Simply Nodded While Humming a Little) It seems pretty lively enough if I do say so myself. Still, the fact that my students have made it this far to take part of a tournament like this is jarring to say the least.....(Smiles Brightly) It's already making an old man like myself more proud than before. (Noticed Two Familiar Figures Walking Towards the Gate in the Distance) And speaking of which.........

Rosalina: (Happily Walks with Ryu While Giggling) And then after that, Daisy said that she would-

??????: (From a Distance) RYU, MY BOY!!!! IT'S BEEN SO LONG!!!

Ryu: (Eyes Widened Once He Recognize a Familiar Voice Along with Rosalina) That voice......

Gouken: (Chuckles Lightly as He Sees His Pupil and Rosalina Making Their Way Towards Him) In the very flesh! (Happily Patting Ryu on the Shoulder) It seems you have grown a lot since our last meeting.

Ryu: (Chuckles Lightly) And you look the same as always, master. How exactly did you get here?

Gouken: I traveled here on foot. Granted, I did a lot of sightseeing along the way, but that alone never stopped me from seeing my favorite students.

Ryu: Master, we're the only students you have. That and Dan.

Gouken: Ah, Dan. Haven't heard that name in a long time actually. I wonder how he as of late.....

Ryu: I'm he's doing great nowadays. He is Dan Hibiki after all.

Gouken: That he is, my boy. That he is.

Rosalina: (Smiles Softly at Ryu and Gouken's Conversation with One Another)

Gouken: Which reminds me......

Rosalina: (Eyes Widened in Surprise Once She Realize Gouken is Turning Towards Her)

Gouken: (Starts Laughing Wholeheartedly) What are you talking about, my dear? Of course I remembered you! You were good friends with Ryu back when you two were children. (Gently Ruffles the Top of Rosalina's Hair) It's good to finally see you again after all these years.

Rosalina: Oh. (Giggles Softly as She Looks Back Up and Hugs Gouken Afterwards) Likewise, Master Gouken. How have you been since the last we saw you?

Gouken: I've been doing well for the most part. Enjoying life outside of the dojo and whatnot? What about you two? (Starts Smirking Teasingly While Stroking his Beard) If I didn't know anything, I say you've gotten a lot closer since I've seen the bother of you together like this.

Ryu: (Starts Blushing While Smiling Sheepishly and Holding Rosalina's Hand) That's because....We have gotten a lot closer as of late.....

Rosalina: (Smiles Softly While Resting her Head on Ryu's Shoulder) We are lovers now~

Gouken: Ah. Is that so?~ (Chuckles Lightly) Well, I can't say I'm surprised! (Turns to Ryu) I've always knew you would have feelings for her growing up, my boy.

Rosalina: (Gasps Before Turning to Ryu With a Surprised Look on her Face) Ryu, is that true?

Ryu: (Simple Nodded) It is. (Smiles Sheepishly While Blushing) I've....never stopped thinking about you during then....Even before we first seen each other in years.....

Rosalina: (Heart Begins to Melt in Pure Happiness as She Hugs Ryu Lovingly) I love you so much, Ryu~ (Gives Ryu a Loving Kiss on the Cheek)

Gouken: (Chuckles Lightly Some More) Cuteness aside, I'm really am happy for the both of you. (Turns to Ryu with a Proud Smile on his Face) Especially you, Ryu. It seems you've finally found peace in yourself.

Ryu: (Simply Nodded) I have, master. (Smiles Brightly) And it was thanks to your care and teachings that I made it this far in life.

Gouken: Well, I....(Smiles Softly) I'm just glad to have you as one my cherished students.....son.

Ryu: (Eyes Begins to Widened in a Few Seconds Before Smiling Again) Thank you, father.

Ken: (Opens the Door While Wearing Casual Clothes) Whose ready for some old fashioned golfin- (Eyes Widened at Complete Shock at the Sight of Gouken) MASTER!!!!?

Gouken: (Raised an Eyebrow at Ken While Crossing his Arms) Ken Masters. Fancy seeing you again.....

Ken was almost at a loss of words before he immediately rushes back inside the mansion. It wasn't long before he bust the door open while rolling himself over to the trio and wearing his usual red gi.

Ken: (Immediately Stands Himself Up and Bows Down to Gouken) PLEASE TO MEET YOU AGAIN, MASTER GOUKEN SIR!

Gouken: Calm yourself, my boy. I wasn't planning on sparring with you today

Ken: Y-Y....(Starts Losing his Posture) You're not?.....

Gouken: (Laughs Wholeheartedly) Of course not! I'm only here for simple visit is all. Maybe even try and take in this....."Golfing" you speak of. If you don't mind me join along that is.

Ryu: Of course we don't mind, master.

Rosalina: (Smiles Brightly at Gouken) You are always welcome to join us.

Ken: (Glares at Gouken in Complete Disbelief) YOU STUPID OLD FART! YOU COULD'VE JUST SAID THAT FROM THE VERY BEGINNING!!!

Gouken: If I did, then I would've missed the opportunity to see you make a fool out of yourself.

Ken: (Starts Growling at his Master in Annoyance) Who the hell do you think I am? Dan!?

Gouken: Not at all. But I really have to explain how much of a spoiled brat you were growing up?

Ken: This isn't about me!! It's about how annoying you are!! You haven't changed at all!

Gouken: Neither have you all things considered.

Ken: Oh that is IT!!

Ken starts arguing with a snarky, unfazed Gouken. All while Ryu and Rosalina softly laughs at them in the process.

Chapter Seven- Need a date!

Single Dad! Matsukawa x Single Mom! Reader

⚠️trigger warnings for this chapter⚠️mentions of child neglect( it’s describing a backstory and the backstory ends with them being taken care of by someone else!)

Master-List

Recently you were reminded that you needed a date to a family function. You having obviously not wanted to go alone go to see one of your best friends, Mitsuki, who was supposed to go to Shiritorazawa with you, Tendou, and Ushijima but sadly she didn’t get accepted due to complications involving her parents. Mitsuki had married Iwaizumi hajime which made it a lot easier for the two of you to spend time together as Kei also didn’t mind spending time with their oldest daughter, Hibiki as her calm nature made her easy for him to get along with. Mitsuki had been practically raised by your mother after she saw how her parents treated their young child sometimes forgetting to come back to their own house entirely! Your mother was outraged when a small Mitsuki had told her that her parents hadn’t been home in days. She told Mitsuki that she was always welcome to stay over and that she thought of her as her own child, she was comforted by your mothers compassion which led the two of you to grow up together which resulted in you two being as close as sisters and if anyone asked that’s what the two of you were, sisters. You had gone to Mitsuki for lots of things, now once the two of you are invited to some little family reunion where everyone expects to see you with a date, you panic spilling your guts to her because at the last reunion the two of you just stayed together but now you can’t do that since she’ll be going with her husband and kids. As you sit at her kitchen island while she nods along to everything your saying her small little girl strapped to her chest, Maki and Issei talk with Hajime in the living room. Maki hearing you whine about not having a date he pops his head through the entry way “Oh (y/n)” he fakes a cry, “you don’t have a date? Mattsun here will be your date! Won’t you Issei?” He says turning to Mattsun who has a big red blush quickly spreading across his cheeks. “Oh! You will Matsukawa??” You ask and before he can say no, not that he planned to you were up and hugging him spilling out thanks while he sent a glare over to Maki who sent him a little wink before going back to his wife’s side. “Oh” you mumble pulling away from Mattsun and he’s so so close to pulling you back into his arms, “since you’re gonna be my date, we all have to cordinate outfits ok?” He nods simply before you shooing him out of the kitchen. Once Issei is back in the living room Maki is raising his eyebrows suggestively at him while he groans and rubs his face. Meanwhile Maki’s wife, Katsumi has come to meet you and Mitsuki in the kitchen to see the two of you giggling like school girls talking about what type of dress you would wear, and what that would make Issei have to wear in turn. Katsumi just lets out a small snort telling you that if you don’t have a dress you’re sure about that she wouldn’t mind going the two of you to look for dresses. Immediately both of you agree and decide that Oikawas wife, Kaiya would also probably like to come so you three message her to ask!

For the “everyone who died is able to wake up” sdra2 au, could you do headcanons of the characters who died reuniting with their s/o who made it to the end? If all the dead characters is too much, you can choose who to do, but if you decide to do Shinji, since he has teenage children, maybe you could include them being there too?

I can do all of them! I think the Void members are the same age outside the simulation so I’ll just leave them at that.

Yuri

Realizing that you saw each other as high schoolers was quite strange. But now you remembered why Yuri became so attached to you the moment you met on the island.

Everyone who woke up was shook upon seeing how tall and muscular he actually was. But you were just happy to see your boyfriend alive and well.

You tell him everything that’s happened, and he’s understandably bitter about Hajime killing him (you had to distract him with a kiss so he didn’t actually punch him).

In time he decides to forgive the boxer...but only because you asked him to.

He feels guilty about letting Monocrow be used for the killing game. So to ensure his work didn’t hurt anyone else, he destroyed all the data and blueprints associated with the bird.

The simulation reminded you of how short he was back then--and you’d tease him about it often (much to his embarrassment).

Hajime

Wakes up disoriented and confused, until he realizes he’s alive and back in the real world. Though he’s got a bit of a headache.

Then he sees you and smiles. “Were you waiting long?”

“Almost too long, you dumbass.” You just hug him tightly, grateful that his brain wasn’t fried to mush like you feared.

He has genuine regrets about siding with Mikado and offers to let you punch him if you wanted to. But you only give him a kiss and reassure him that’s all in the past.

Despite everything, he manages to joke about being turned into a doll, claiming it could be good merchandise to sell in the future. Though for now you both just wanna go home and recuperate from what happened.

Yep, he’s still got his healthy habits so he’ll be sure to take care of himself (and you, of course, since your mental health is just as important as your physical health).

Kokoro

Has the most nonchalant reaction.��

She feels unusually cold, but quickly claims it’s just an “after-effect” of the death she experienced in the program.

If anyone else was her s/o, they would’ve been angry and confused at her neutral reaction. But you’ve known her long enough to know she’s like this all the time.

So you just smile and welcome her back, telling her you survived--like her younger self anticipated.

With both versions of Mikado gone, she isn’t exactly sure where to go with her research from here. But you convinced her to take a long break from her work.

She thought you’d be angry or at least disappointed that she contributed to the simulation’s creation, but you aren’t.

You didn’t have the heart to hate her, even though before that you resented her for using her daughter for human experiments.

Emma

Surprisingly calm...at first. She just acts like she woke up from a nap, relieved “this bad dream” was finally over.

But then she sees her hands--realizing she’s whole again and not some disgusting mess of flesh trapped in limbo--as you hold them and smile softly at her. “Welcome back to the land of the living, darling.”

Everything hits her all at once, and before you knew it, she was hugging you tightly and sobbing into your chest as she apologized for everything she did.

She was scared she’d never see you again, worrying if you’d survive to the end (imagine her relief when you did).

You spend a bit of time comforting her, rubbing her back and reassuring her she was finally free of Mikado’s influence.

You’re close to tears yourself--seeing her slaughtered by horror movie monsters was a grim execution you wouldn’t forget easily.

And after coming home that’s one movie genre you both avoid for a while.

Setsuka

She wakes up feeling disappointed and some back/joint pain that she didn’t see through her mission till the end, but she’s happy to be back with you.

You practically throw yourself into her arms, relieved she was whole again and not just limbs scattered across a haunted house attraction.

If you decide to tell her about the circumstances regarding her death, she might be quite unnerved, at first, though she doesn’t resent Hibiki once you mention how she was basically a puppet during that time.

Her quick forgiveness would’ve been surprising, but you only expected that from her and just smile, giving her a kiss.

“You’re taking a few days off of work. I don’t care what Tsurugi says--you need it.”

“Alright, alright..fair enough...by the way, I’m still as cute as I was back then, right?” She chuckles.

Yep, that’s your sweetheart of a former billiards player alright.

Hibiki/Kanade

(I hc that Kanade’s serial killer backstory was all fabricated, and her obsession over Hibiki isn’t as extreme irl, but she still has some overprotectiveness).

When the twins wake up at the same time, they...honestly aren’t sure what to say to you--or each other for that matter.

Kanade was staring off into space, fully aware of the horrible things she said and did. Meanwhile Hibiki looked ready to yell at her as soon as she spoke. And you were just watching them nervously.

But then you’re surprised when the younger sister reaches over to hug you, starting to cry and apologize for everything. She could never see herself doing any of those things in real life...but she doesn’t expect any forgiveness right away.

To her shock, you forgave her--knowing that the Kanade in that simulation wasn’t your sweet and shy sweetheart. The real one you’ve known since forever was right here, feeling truly remorseful for things she never did.

It’s not long before Hibiki burst into tears too and oops now both of them are crying into your arms.

But you didn’t care. What mattered was that the nightmare was finally over.

Shinji

Your teenage kids were brought to the location of the pods by the KF (as other living relatives of the kidnapped participants were), and they anxiously waited for you and Shinji to awaken.

The relief and joy you felt upon seeing their smiling, tearful faces was immensurable as they practically tackle-hugged you. But when they ask about their father, you decide they’re mature enough to know what happened--and so you explain that he made a sacrifice to protect everyone, including you.

They promise to wait for him, as they did for you...and man is that wait worth it when he awakens to see his beloved family.

It’s a very, very tearful reunion, but it was especially overwhelming for you, considering you still have the image of your husband’s burnt corpse fresh in your mind.

Shinji’s optimism never wavers, even after everything. He points out that the way you two have interacted in the simulation was similar to how you both met in real life during high school (minus the killings, of course).

You regrettably tell him what became of Yuki, but he just hopes the kid’s doing alright, wherever he may be.

Nikei

The moment he wakes up, he takes a few seconds to register three things: he’s alive, you’re alive, and his right hand is back.

But before you can ask him how he’s feeling, a billion and one questions fly out of his mouth.

“Is it all over?? Is Mikado gone?!! What about Utsuro--??"

You do your best to calm him down and catch him up to speed, reassuring him Mikado is gone and won’t hurt him ever again.

Though now that he sees everyone alive and well--including Shinji and Void--he feels tense and awkward, wondering what the future holds now. But you take his right hand to divert his attention back to you.

He gets pretty choked up, realizing that he’s finally free and isn’t doomed forever and can actually go home with you. You just smile and hug him, repeating those reassurances.

Considering his breakdown in the trial where he got executed, you decide you’ll have a long chat about his insecurities when you two get home--with him being the interviewee.

Teruya

Rei and Tsurugi are with you when Teruya finally awakens. Though before he can even properly get out of the pod, you throw your arms around him and he doesn’t hesitate to embrace you back.

He’s already in tears himself, relieved when you tell him you survived.

“That’s good..I’m..I-I’m glad you made it out.”

“I would’ve liked to make it out with you, too, idiot.” You huff, remembering how he refused the antidote you tried giving him for the poison.

He told you why he needed to die so you could escape with everyone. And it hurt him a lot to do that, but you forgive him..though only if he promises to never make a stupid sacrifice like that again.

You decide to leave out how you almost got executed by an incorrect vote. For a while you thought you could never avenge your boyfriend, but with Mikado finally gone..you were now satisfied.

He’ll need a few days off of work after what he’s been through. You already chewed out Tsurugi for calling Teruya a “diversion”, so he begrudgingly allows it.

ASOOT Timeline: October 2012 (

I really, honestly, TRULY thought that I would be done with today by now. But life and work got in the way, so I’ve been super busy. Damnit. Here’s a little more, though, so that we can make at least SOME progress. I promise that once the Puppetmaster arc is done, things will go faster.–Timeline Anon

October 2 (continued):

Team Two arrives at the island. They climb towards the rim of the island’s caldera and are heading for the hotel when they encounter Maverick’s Alpha Protocol: an army of 3-meter-tall robots, which they now have to fight.

Chiaki refuses her parents’ suggestion to wait in the boat on the grounds that she doesn’t want others to fight her battles for her. She, Kana, Damian, Kizuna, and Taira lead Team One towards the hotel, but they are also attacked by the robots. Sonia uses her rocket launcher to strike against them. The group moves forward, fighting and defeating robots along the way, but the robots keep coming. At one point, they pause their attacks so that Maverick can tell Chiaki that every death that happens on the island will be her fault becaus she didn’t let herself die to save everyone. Chiaki retorts that no one will die, and the fight rages on.

Kyoji makes it to the crater and initiates “Clinical Trial A406.”

Team Two is still battling robots when they are rejoined by Team One and Chiaki’s group. Nikei and Taira reunite, kiss, and officially enter into a relationship. Chiaki, Kana, Kizuna, Sora, Tenmei, Harumi, Misako, Mikako, and Yamato go to the hotel (Sonia helpfully blasts the door down for them), while everyone else stays behind to fight the robots.

It’s 7 AM, and Maverick’s ready to start killing people, so he tells Yuki to let Kanon know. Yuki sees that Maverick is about to gun down about twenty hostages, so he stands between Maverick and the group, tells him that he won’t let him hurt anyone, and slaps him in the face. Maverick backhands Yuki with his gun and is about to have a robot kill him when Sora hijacks the robot to protect her old friend. Chiaki’s group bursts in on the scene and tries to get Maverick to give up. Apparently, Maverick doesn’t know about the incoming submarine, but he claims that he has more tricks up his sleeve and runs away. Yuki and Kizuna have a happy reunion, Sora introduces herself to them, and the group speculates that the person in the submarine might be on their side. Hibiki will get Yuki, Kizuna, and the twenty hostages to the boats via a drainage tunnel that leads to the north shore, and on the way, she’ll look for the submarine and its occupant. The rest of Chiaki’s group goes after Maverick.

Subway Station

TW: alcohol, slight angst, worrying about the future

Being at this party was a mistake. It was too loud, too obnoxious, and her head was pounding from the alcohol and music that blared on the speakers.

It’s already been many years since she fought off the overblots and graduated from the school that she considered her home. While Crowley was useless at times, she considered him as an almost healthy adult figure in her life compared to others before him.

Everyone else in the Ramshackle dorm seemed to be doing just fine. They either pursued partners and have a happy life with them or they got a well known career that gave them enough to live a life of wealth.

Hibiki didn’t have anything like that. She was holding onto the past and couldn’t let go of it. Graduating was a dream for everyone, but a nightmare for her.

She looked down at the red cup of alcohol that she held with shaking hands.

Despite the situations, Ace and Deuce allowed her to be a roommate at their apartment while she was pursuing a career that stressed her to the ends of time. Even they got to live out their lives as Deuce got a girlfriend and Ace achieved a good scholarship.

She was still the underdog no matter the circumstances.

Now here she is, at a reunion party with a number of people she knew before. Some different, some stayed almost the same.

Petra and Ace were the ones with the bright idea of bringing alcohol to the party, much to the dismay to Riddle. This led to a majority of people getting drunk while others watched the chaos go down from the sidelines with friends.

Hibiki was glad that she had a high tolerance of alcohol, otherwise she would not forgive herself for the stupid shit she would be doing.

With a less then relaxed sigh, she downed the alcohol and threw the cup into the garbage can next to her.

“Didn’t expect to see you here.”

She knew that voice. She knows it far too well, it’s a voice that she both dreads yet loves to hear.

“Good to see you made it to the party Jamil” Hibiki exclaimed with false enthusiasm as she waved her hand “How have things been holding up for you? Got a girlfriend? A boyfriend? Or maybe an incredibly good scholarship like the rest of the people here”

Jamil did not flinch at the sarcastic tone of her voice, as it is something that he is plenty familiar with.

“To answer your questions, I did not achieve any of that”

Despite his countless efforts to achieve a scholarship of sorts, his status still held him back from escape

“But what has gotten you so upset now?”

His question made her rub the temples of her forehead in aggravation. She did not want to talk about her feelings, not when she is feeling this close to passing out from the countless thoughts that swam in her head previously.

“Now? You say that like I have had these types of fits before” She retorted.

He was able to think of a retort just as quick as she was to speak it.

“Because you have. Mainly in your first year of school”

Always has to be the smart ass between them. While Hibiki had her moments of competing with Jamil, he always held the upper hand and was the most intelligent. She was only the chaos bringer and nothing more.

“You try getting transported to a land of who-knows-what” Her comment made him laugh slightly before he quickly silenced himself.

“I would rather not have that happen to me” Jamil said with a frown “But, will you just tell me what has gotten you so worked up? Avoiding the reason I came to talk to you is ridiculous”

Hibiki paused at the last of his words and looked at him with a suspicious glare.

“…Are you Jamil?”

The question caused a irritated glare from the other, but he kept silent as the girl laughed slightly and explained what caused her irritation.

“I am upset at myself” She states “I am disappointed that I haven’t been able to achieve anything after leaving Night Raven. Everyone was so happy about leaving, but I viewed that place as my home and leaving was the last thing that I had planned for.”

“Crowley was irresponsible, but he was one of the only adults in my life that didn’t view me as a burden to him. Now, I can’t even hold contact with him because of how busy he is with running the school.” The words kept tumbling out of her mouth and felt herself getting teary-eyed from the alcohol investing her brain and talking about her feelings in general “Ramshackle either has girlfriends or boyfriends or partners or are achieving a perfect job with countless of friends, so they have no time to contact me.”

“Everything sucked with overblots and shit, but at least I had a family. One who cares about me at least…”

She let out a shaky breath after the long rant and started wiping away the tears that fell down her cheeks. It was exhausting talking about feelings, but Jamil did take in a majority of what she talked about at least.

“You say that like you don’t have people who care about you now”

“Huh?”

“Just because they are achieving their own lives does not mean that they don’t care about you any less. They are only trying to sort themselves out like you are” Jamil explains with a blunt tone “Everyone in your year just graduated and they need time, you can still attempt to contact them instead of waiting for them to contact you.”

Before Hibiki could retort at his remarks, he continued speaking without looking at the other girl.

“And nobody is asking you to achieve something great or outstanding, you will still be the same old Hibiki that everyone cares about” Jamil says.

“And if they aren’t willing to stay around, then that’s their loss.”

Jamil finally turned towards the dirty blonde girl to see her mouth agape and eyes widened in surprise.

Only then, when she noticed Jamil staring at her did she snap out of her surprised daze.

“Wow!! You really are going soft Jamil!!” Hibiki snickered “Did those years away from Night Raven change you that much?”

“I take back what I said before”

Despite his tone, his mouth formed a small smile at the teasing from the girl. This is the Hibiki he was more used too.

They chatted for the whole party up until everyone was feeling drowsy and started to head home with their significant others or friend groups. Hibiki was planning on going with Ace and Deuce, but the two of them went to go hang out together instead leaving her and Jamil.

Surprisingly, Kalim wasn’t with Jamil to attend the party due to having to handle family matters at his homeland and Kalim giving permission for Jamil to go alone much to Jamil’s dismay as he was never the fondest of parties.

“Damn…” Hibiki winced sympathetically before shrugging her shoulders “He didn’t miss much of that party in all honesty, the food was pretty good at least”

“It wasn’t the best, but I will agree with it being average for a party” Jamil agreed with a slight nod.

The two of them continued chatting as they headed to the subway. Jamil agreed with dropping off Hibiki at her apartment due to it being closest and her showing slight signs of exhaustion.

In the middle of conversation, Jamil was ranting about his experiences with his sister due to the topic of siblings being bought up briefly and slightly tensed when he felt something lean on his shoulder.

He stopped midway in his conversation to look over at Hibiki, who was completely passed out with a snore coming from her every minute.

In any other circumstance or year, he would’ve shoved her off his shoulder and tell her to not use him as her personal pillow. This time, he felt more at ease with it and sighed in faux annoyance.

Maybe this party wasn’t a total mistake after all
