There’s just something so healing about having someone patiently teach you how to play a game so I’m going to scribble some Idia thoughts right here:
He takes out his tablet for this, tilting it towards the side so you have a clear view. Both of you are on Idia’s bed, feet dangling off the side. He has his hoodie thrown around your shoulders, his arm brushing against yours as he walks you through the game controls.
His speech is calm, soft even, as he guides you through how to play a certain character, how to best make use of their move-set. Idia passes the screen towards you once he’s done briefing you about the character, gently nudging your hands into the right positions on his screen.
Gently guiding you through the game, patiently explaining things over and over again until you get it. Idia pulls out character screens, going through each and every one of them. Laughing at goofy skins, and excitedly sharing his favourite. You don’t miss the way his eyes light up when he’s talking about his favourites. It’s cute.
If you lean into his shoulder, Idia’s going to stiffen up. But he soon relaxes again, even lowering his shoulder a little for you to have easier access to it. Both of you sort of… just melt together, sharing a glowing screen in between both of you.
Sharing a singular beat, hearts pulsing as one.

every time someone calls moirallegience just an alien qpr i wilt a lil like YEAH thats more or less the CLOSEST human thing but its also Literally Not That. like a qpr is fundanmentally not romantic and thats not even going into moirails whole Actual Purpose of calming ppl down. its just. aughhhhh pisses me off i see the confusion but, as aformentioned, aughhhhh
OH MY GOD THIS HAS BEEN BOTHERING ME TOO.... but i don't want to get petty at the people in my notes always saying "moirails are QPRs!" because in some ways that is the closest human thing so it's hard to be mad...
i think there's definitely some overlap in some ways. but NOT because moirallegiance and qprs are the same at all really, but INSTEAD because both relationships have unconventional boundaries defined by the people within them.
you know... like every relationship.
like the only reason the two have overlap is because they are both partnerships that emotionally care for each other but can choose to not bang (which is true for any romance anyway, even if it's considered abnormal). they're both just romances* that are unconventional to human norms, which makes people view them as the same thing when they're not.
i think the REAL issue here is that humans insist on using human words to understand things that are just, fundamentally, alien. can't we just appreciate alien romance for being... alien romance?
no, it's not platonic, it's romantic. it's just romantic in a way you aren't quite wired to understand, is all.
*in generalization, most QPRs are not romantic, because they are made up of aroaces who are life partners in a non-romantic way. however i want to disagree with you that none of them are romantic, because that is up to the partners in question.

the true ending of disco elysium is the one where harry dies in the trash outside the whirling and garte just goes "i dont care"
the true ending of disco elysium is the one where harry collapses and dies on evrart's chair and kim has to be like "i'm sorry for my colleague. he's a funny man. he likes to make jokes at inopportune moments. up you go, detective." and evrart goes "oh of course. that's our harry, full of jokes! very funny! i do appreciate a good laugh! now let's get back to business, harry, i'm a very busy man, you know." and then they both stand there for a minute and harry is just fully dead half slumped off the chair and they both stand there like ............😐😐

In my opinion, the reason the reunion scene was skipped was because the author couldn’t figure out a way to write it non-romantically and gave up after a while
honestly. i kinda agree with you nonnie.
it just. the set up to the scene is sooooo romantic. you have lloyd being absolutely devastated at the thought he's not going to see any of his loved ones ever again and that he's been dropped back into his terrible life, to the place he admitted he'd rather die than go back to,,, and then someone knocks at the door and when he opens it this is the sight that greets him:
his best friend, the person he's closest to, the one he's spent years with, the one he promised a peaceful life at his side, the one he wanted to grow old with, the one he sacrificed everything for, the one he effectively gave his life to save, the one he thought he'd never see again, standing at his door, having crossed literal dimensional barriers to get to him, a soft and teary smile on his face as he tells him "i missed you"
like. c'mon.
i'm all for platonic interpretations, i'm aroace, i love me a good best friendship as much as the next guy, but,,,, isn't this,,, like,,, really fucking romantic??? extremely so??? am i??? reading too much into it?? because it feels really, really romantic to me.
and like you say. where do you go from there. what response could lloyd give that doesn't involve throwing himself at javier and clinging to him with all of his strength. what conversation could these two have that doesn't involve them seeing how truly devoted they are to each other. what resolution does their arc together have that isn't them spending the rest of their lives together, at each other's side, like they so dearly wanted to.
but. alas. that wasn't the story bk moon wanted to tell. and that's very much his right. i just think that if he didn't want me to assume there's no in-character and narratively satisfying version of that conversation that doesn't end with them kissing he should've at least tried to give us something. and not completely skipped it lol
but that's just my opinion too :]

Thinking about Battinson slowly starting to step out more in his Bruce mask, courtesy of realizing the city needs more than what he had been offering her, getting back to Mayor Réal about what he could do, etc., and as such... kicking off that verse's version of Wayne being the Damsel In Distress Du Jour and needing to LET himself be rescued by the GCPD on occasion.
And when it all first starts he's annoyed, because this is drawing SO much attention to him and also having to LET himself be the hostage when he KNOWS it would be SO EASY is just so frustrating....
...until a few go rounds in, when he starts realizing like oh. another nice dark cool room to wait alone by myself in for a few hours 🥺 this is so nice thank you i was getting so tired and now like
Whenever the strain of Being Bruce Wayne is just graaaating on him, or even just an appointment coming up that he's too burnt out (or just... doesn't want to) attend... maaaaaaaybe he arranges... just... just a little anonymous ransom for himself online so he can get kidnapped soon. As a treat.
