Whatever It Takes (CH-2)
Dear Damian, Normally I would write a letter in Arabic, but I thought since you're gonna live here, you might as well get used to the language. I know this was abrupt to you. But this is the first opening me and Mother could get. Sorry, Mother and I could get. English grammar rules are so wonky.
Both Bruce and Damian let out a soft laugh.
Anyway, back to the point. I know what you're gonna say. You're gonna say, “You did the same thing I'm doing right now. I can handle it.” And I'm not denying that, Damian. Just that you shouldn't have to do this. Shouldn't have to fight. You shouldn't have to kill. You shouldn't have to always watch behind your back. It's not right. And just the fact that it happened to me does not make it right for you. Here at Father’s you'll be able to learn new things. Enjoy life. Make friends. Meet your other siblings and our Father.
Please give them a chance. You don't know if you like something if you never try it. Stay safe. And be happy. Don't think this is goodbye, I will come visit. Mother and I love you. With all we have.
Your sister And the bane of your existence, Mariam.
Thankfully, Damien was too tired after the day's proceedings and went down for sleep without much fuss. After making sure he was comfortable in the guest bedroom, Bruce went back down to the Cave where the DNA showed 92% completed. Seeing him, Tim, Dick and Alfred came and gathered around.
“Well, Master Bruce?”
“He is sleeping for now. The kid had a dagger, but I left it with him because he looked too–”
“Vulnerable.” Tim said.
“Yeah, that.” Bruce said, giving them a tired smile. “I was thinkin–”
The batcomputer chimed. As all of them whipped around they saw displayed on the screen in bold letters. Almost mocking them-
Test #27
Subject: Damian Al-Ghul Wayne
Biological matches: Bruce Thomas Wayne (Parental) Talia Al-Ghul (Parental) Ra’s Al-Ghul (Grand Parental) Test subject #28 (Complete Fraternal)
“Well damn” Dick said. “I suppose it was to be expected, honestly.”
Bruce sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose. “I suppose it is pointless to open up the second test result.”
“Better safe than sorry.” Tim said, clacking on the keyboard. “Here we go.” with his words, the screen changed.
Test #28
Subject: Mariam
Biological matches: Bruce Thomas Wayne (Parental) Talia Al-Ghul (Parental) Ra’s Al-Ghul (Grand Parental) Damian Al-Ghul Wayne (Complete Fraternal)
“I didn't enter her complete name because she never really said it out loud, but do you want me to, like, input it in as Al-Ghul Wayne?” Tim asked, spinning around on the batchair.
“Yeah.” Bruce said. Turning to Alfred, he continued, “What do I do, Alfred?”
“Though it may take some time, Master Bruce, I believe a solution will present itself. Worrying about when will only cause additional stress. I suggest you focus on Master Damian. You do have a lot of years to make up for.”
“I don't even know how old the kid is!” Bruce groaned. “I’ll turn In for the night. I'll deal with this tomorrow morning.”
“Excellent idea, Master Bruce. After all, a good rest makes our minds work better. Don't they Master Tim?”
“Wha-What?” Tim asked, his eyes still glued to the screen pulling up Talia's file.
“Come on, Tim.” Dick said. He was slowly putting all the bat computer screens on Sleep Mode. “You already know all that there is to know about her.”
“Yeah, yeah. I'm looking through Justice League files, you know, in case someone updated something.”
“Come on, Tim.” Bruce said, making use of his ‘dad voice’ as put by Dick. “The files will still all be here in the morning. It's time you got some rest.”
“Yeah, yeah. Just a minute.” Tim said, his eyes scanning the screen.
“Nope.” Dick said as he picked him up. “Going to burrito wrap you in a blanket so you can't sneak into the Cave.”
“Nooooooo” Tim said dramatically as Dick put him over his shoulder and walked off.
Bruce waited until their steps receded before again turning to Alfred. “Do you think I'm ready for this?”
“Master Bruce, In quite a lot of cases, you have not been ready for something yet. You took it on beautifully. Some mistakes did happen, but, your imperfection is a part of you. I believe you'll know what to do with Damian and how to do it. You both are more similar than you think.”

Whatever It Takes (CH-1)
They were running. She gripped Damian’s hand tighter “Come on, Damian. You gotta run faster. I know it's hard, but–” She bit back an ear piercing scream as she ducked, Dragging her brother with her. A knife whizzed past their heads with couple of arrows. They both ran and ran till they finally spotted a boat in which Mariam jumped, her brother following her. And soon enough, the boat took off before their persuaders could reach them.
“What was that about?” Damian Said his eyes blown wide open. “We are supposed to be on their side, ukhti.”
“I know, I know.” Mariam replied, her chest heaving. “There's just a place we've got to get to.”
“Where?”
“Somewhere safe.”
“But where?”
Merriam sighed. “Damian there's no beating around the bush for this one. Mother and I feel that the league is getting too dangerous for you.”
“TOO DANGEROUS?!” Damian’s voice pierced through the calm night.
“Hush.” Mariam said, shushing him.
“NO! No, hush.” Damian said, looking up at his sister. “It's NOT dangerous. I did the same stuff as you did!”
“Yes, and none of us want that for you. Damian–” Her voice broke, “The way I've grown up, the way you are growing up is not a way for any child to be brought up. That's not how it's supposed to be.”
“The WORLD is not what it's supposed to be.” Damian said, throwing his hands up.
“I know, but still everyone tries to make it into what it is supposed to be, don't they? This is our way of fixing it.” Mariam said, bending down to his level.
“Grandfather will come after us.” Damian said, looking intently into his sister's eyes.
“And mother and I will deal with it. You don't need to concern yourself with that anymore. You will get the chance to be a normal kid. As normal as it is possible.”
“You're going leave me alone, aren't you? Looks like you finally realized I'm not worth it.”
“NEVER SAY THAT.” Mariam said, pulling her brother into a hug. “We both love you very much.”
“Apparently not enough.”
Mariam pulled herself from him and loved him intently in the eyes. “Listen up, Damian. You are one of the best things that has ever happened to me. And you know what they say? If you really love someone, you got to let them go.”
“What do you mean?”
“Nothing. We're almost here.”
“Where are we exactly?”
“Gotham City.”
Damian pulled a deep breath in. “We're meeting Father?”
“Yes.” Mariam replied, pulling her brother along, keeping a sharp lookout for anyone who might have noticed their small boat docking on the harbour. The fact that he was going to meet his father was enough for Damian to stay quiet. They soon found a spare motorcycle which Talia had arranged for them.
“I should drive.” Damian said, looking the bike over. It wasn't exactly a brand new model, but it wasn't outdated either.
“Yeah, right.” Mariam said, snorting. “You and your little 4.ft’ frame will be able to handle my 5.ft 5’’.”
“You always said size wasn't a true judge of strength.” Damian said, gripping the handle.
“No Damian, we are not getting pulled over by the police. This is supposed to be done discreetly.
“Very well.” Damian said as he resigned himself to his fate.
Mariam smiled at him and got on to the bike, motioning him to grab her waist. And after that they were weaving through the traffic, heading for Wayne Manor. After 15 minutes they could see the twinkling lights of the huge estate and Mariam made a sharp turn, Entering one of the secret passageways to the infamous Batcave. Damian was thoroughly enjoying himself, unaware of the tension in his sister's body. Soon, they rolled into the parking area of the Bat Cave, and slowly got off with their hands in the air as all the bats in the Batcave stood with their weapons drawn, their masks covered, their eyes glaring the pair.
As Mariam dismounted the bike, she pushed Damian forward and said in a clear voice, her eyes contacting Batman's White lenses. “This is Damian Al-Ghul Wayne. Son of Bruce Wayne and Talia Al-Ghul.”
All the people in the bat cave sucked a deep breath in. Their shock clear even through their masks.
“He means no harm.” Mariam continued. “This is the first chance we have got to free him from the league. He has no blood on his hands. Me and Talia wish that you'll protect your son.”
“What does this mean?” Damian said, turning around. His sister was crying. Tears pouring down her cheeks. “YOU HAVE TO STAY! YOU CAN'T LEAVE! I WON'T LET YOU!” He rushed towards her and grabbed her in a tight embrace.
“I'm sorry, Damian.” Mariam said, gently patting his head. Hugging him a bit tighter before pushing him away leaving two letters in his hand. “I'll come visit, so don't you worry. Everything will be fine.” She whispered in his hair.
“NO! IT WON'T BE FINE BECAUSE YOU WON'T BE THERE.” Damian said, his eyes flooded with tears.
Mariam just gave him a sad smile And jumped back on the bike, riding away.
Damian’s knees gave out as he kneeled on the rough surface of batcave’s parking lot. He could hear the movement of the resident bats. He could feel Batman, his father, picking him up and holding him close. But that did nothing to change the fact that his sister was gone. Leaving two letters in her wake, enclosed in a pretty envelope which had a couple of flowers printed on it. A sorry replacement for her calming presence.
He just stayed there in Batma-no-Father's embrace.
A soft voice murmured close to his ear. His father's voice. “Damian, do you mind if we do a DNA test?”
“No.” Bruce's heart broke a bit hearing the boy’s sad tone. Even if the DNA results didn't show him to be his son, he was gonna adopt this kid.
Tim came slowly near the pair. Damian saw him and the tweezer in his hand. He reached up and plugged a couple of hairs out of his head and handed it to him.
“Your DNA is already coded in, isn't it Bruce?” Tim asked as he carefully handled the.
“Yes.” Bruce replied, standing up with Damian still in his arms handing the long hair of the girl to Tim, which had stuck to Damian’s clothes, and walking towards the chair in front of the bat computer.
He sat down and gently patted Damian's head. “Uhh-Damian?”
“Yes?” He said, wiping his eyes with his long sleeves. Looked like he was getting a grip on himself.
Good. Bruce thought. It's a lot easier to talk to a sniffling kid than a sobbing kid.
“Do you mind me asking some questions?”
“No.”
“Who was that girl?”
“She was my sister.”
“As in–”
“Yes, your daughter.”
Bruce sucked, another deep breath in. Damn. Was today the day when everyone tried to reveal their biological connections to him? He has two kids! Well, he already had three other kids, but two biological kids? Whose lives he had missed.
Apparently due to the long time that Bruce spent thinking appeared to Damian as a clear rejection of him and his sister as sobs again started, shaking his body.
What am I supposed to do? Bruce thought, panic seeping into his mind.
“Do you wanna read the letter she left?” Bruce said instantly regretting it. Great going, Bruce. Let us emphasize the fact that his sister is gone. Bruce sighed. Well, there is No going back now. The only saving grace was that the kid was actually happy to read her letters.
“Maybe she has left us a clue there.” He said trying to open the letters without damaging the envelopes. The first envelope Had Damian’s name on it and the second had Talia’s.
“We will open mother’s If none of them come and visit in a week.” Damian said, keeping Talia’s aside and opening his own. Bruce shifted a bit to get a better view. And soon both father and son were reading the letter written in a bit loopy handwriting.
Dear Damian,

Begin Again Chapter 9 (sequel to IMW)
So here they were. All standing around THE phone. As it charged. The guilty phone which Bruce had put away in order to ‘Not give into the temptation to get Isabella, his own kid back’ as so kindly put up by Jason.
“It's an old model.” Tim said. “If it had been a new one? We could have simply replaced the battery with a charged one and it would have been up and running in no time. But since this is one of those God forsaken ancient types—”
“It's only 8 years old Tim.” Bruce said.
“Exactly my point! These were the ones that were used before–” Tim was interrupted by Jason. “Yeah, yeah, we know, Timbers. The point is, how long is this thing gonna take?”
“You guys have absolutely no patience.” Barbara said, shaking her head. “Who knows how you stay still during Recon missions.”
“I think the screen is turning on.” Dick said, eager to stop the bickering.
“Ookkkayyyy, Just gotta make this thing respond in order to open the voice mails. But seriously, don't you guys see it? The reacting speed is so slow!!” Tim said, his eyes roaming over the screen.
But despite Tim’s views, the ‘thing’ opened up soon enough. There were 76 voicemails left, one by someone else and the remaining 75 by Marinette.
“Well?” Fei said. “Let's start them up. Oldest to newest.”
“Got it.” Tim said.
And soon enough Marinette's. Or more accurately, young Marinette’s. Voice came out of the speakers.
Voicemail 1- “Hey, Dad… You didn't pick up, so I guess you're busy? I got off the flight without any hitch and Tom and Sabine seem nice. I'll call you later, I suppose.”
Voicemail 2- “Dad. Hello, are you stuck in a meeting or what? Wait, that is impossible. It's 8:00 PM there. Just…just Call me back when you can.”
Voicemail 3- “Dad respond. Please.”
Voicemail 4- “Come on, Dad. Pick up, pick up, pick up, pick up, PICK UP.”
Voicemail 5- ”You're scaring me, Dad.”
Voicemail 6- “Hey, Bruce. It's Hal. There is a meeting scheduled for 3:00 PM today. Diana has me stuck on calling duty so, don't forget to come.”
Voicemail 7- “Dad, is your phone broken? Is that it? I suppose it won't work then. Are you on a League mission? Dad, you gotta answer the phone!”
Voicemail 8- “I tried calling Dick, Clark and Diana. None of them are picking up. And I'm almost sure these aren't their numbers. Dad. Answer the phone.”
“Please stop it.” Bruce said. He was clearly trying not to cry And Selena was rubbing soothing circles into his back. “I can't take it. Please just-t don't.”
“OK, B.” Barbara said scrolling through the voicemails. “Most of them have similar durations, And they are all around the same time So I think they are all similar.”
The only thing going through everybody's mind was- She was disheartened. She was losing it. Around 50 voicemails were left that way. And then clearly, Marinette got the message. If Her calls weren't gonna go through. She might as well stop calling.
But then the Call log showed that the calls picked up again. Around two years back.
“OK, I gotta start up from here because technically there is no reason other than her calling for help when the akumas started.” Barbara said, her eyes searching in the duration of the calls. They didn't match up with the previous ones. They were more lengthy compared to the duration that the other calls had gotten into slowly as time went on.
“Starting up from Voicemail #52.” She announced as she hit the play button again.
Voicemail 52- “DAD, Dad, there's a super villain in Paris. Please just look into it. I-I DON'T THI-INK I CA-AN---” The voice was anxious. Enough to get all of the batclan set on edge. But then the call abruptly ended.
Voicemail 53- “Dad-BA I CAN'T BE A HERO. I CAN'T BE THIS LADYBUG. This is a mistake. JUST GET ME OUT OF HERE, please.”
Voicemail 54- “Dad, are you even there? Look, I'm sorry for anything I might have done. Just please, I can't do this. Don't make me do this. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm SORRY.”
Voicemail 55- “PICK UP THE DAMN PHONE.”
Voicemail 56- “Please respond.”
Voicemail 57- “DAD!”
Voicemail 58- “Dad, pick up, pick up, PICK UP. PLEASE, please, please, please. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for anything wrong I did just elp me.”
Voicemail 59- “DAD, I CAN BRING BACK PEOPLE TO LIFE AND I'M NOT READY FOR THIS HEROING. Please. This gives me changes Jaso- no, just no.” Her breath was hitching up.
Voicemail 60- “Dad, get me OUTTA here.” This time, she was sobbing.
Voicemail 61- “OK, OK.” They heard the sound of her pulling a deep breath in. “Let's do this rationally. There is a super villain in Paris called Hawkmoth. He basically mind controls people and can give them magical powers through butterflies. And yes, this is real, not some JOKE.” There was venom in her voice. “The only people capable of fighting him are apparently me and Chat Noir. This is a humble request. Please do something. The Justice League calls won't go through.”
Voicemail 62- “Dad. Please.” She sounded defeated.
Voicemail 63- “Dad, I CAN'T DEAL WITH THIS.”
There was pin drop silence in the room. But the voicemails didn't stop with that. They continued, although there was a certain icyness in Marinette's voice whenever she called.
Voicemail 64- “Hey, Dad. Free enough to Help me?”
Voicemail 65- “You know a funny thing happened today. There was this attack Akumas name was Syrena. She had the power to FLOOD entire streets. THE WHOLE CITY DROWNED.” Her voice had a tinge of hysteria now. “I had to SWIM PAST Tom and Sabine's bodies to fight that damned thing. But you know what? This is a damned good emotional exercise. Swim past your dead guardians' bodies into a fight, knowing, that millions of people's lives depend on you. And your partner decides that it is a fine time to throw an emotional tantrum LIKE A BABY. The guy who is supposed to be in charge doesn't know SHIT. You have to do HIS JOB FOR HIM. Your father is too busy to help you out. Believing that ignorance is bliss. You can't even feel anything because if you do because a guy with nothing better to do with his life is gonna send a butterfly out of you. And if, God forbid, I fail, THE WHOLE WORLD IS GONNA GET REWRITTEN.” She drew a deep breath in. “Yeah. What a wonderful experience.” Sarcasm was dripping in her voice.
Voicemail 66- There was static in the background. “Yeah, these calls aren't going to go through.”
Voicemail 67- “Look once and for all, just for official record, I suppose. These calls aren't going through. It's been a year since the Akumas started appearing. So for the last time. Goodbye and thank you for the birthday gift. I didn't want to stupid expensive watch. I wanted MY FATHER. But I guess I don't get to be picky.”
Notes:
So just to make things clear. Originally the name was Isabella Wayne. But then she shifted to Paris it became Marinette Dupain Cheng. Now later in the series, it's gonna be Marinette Isabella Luscinia-Wayne.
Also to keep in mind that Gamora is not anyone real in this series. It's just an illusion of a person Marinette made in order to like, not entrust her guardianship with anybody because frankly, she has had enough of douchebag parents. Even more than you think, but that is a spoiler. Uncle J, or Jagged as she had told Damien, forced her because he knew that MDC didn't have a PA cause Marinette was MDC, and she didn't have a PA.
People have been confusing it with that. Also the storyline is that Bruce sent her away when she was around 7-8ish Years old. He didn't contact her because, as I said in the story, He felt that if he heard her voice telling him that, “Let me come home, Dad.” He wouldn't be able to resist himself. Because he sent her away as he didn't want the same thing that happened to Jason to happen to her. You know, in sort of a sick way to protect her. I mean, he's a batman. If he's not emotionally constipated, then what is he? Anyway, I hope you are enjoying this and thank you for all those who have left lovely comments and kudos. It really helps me keep up with the writing spree.
PS- Now I see the real joy in cliffhangers. Que- Evil laugh

IMW Chapter 10
Lady Miracle stared at him, waiting, watching as after a moment, his chest rose. Pained rattling breaths shook his body with the effort it took to make them and his face twisted in pain. It was physical, she could see that in the way his body reacted, but the way his face fell and the sob that left him, she knew he was feeling everything.
But he was still alive.
Movement out of the corner of her eye drew her out of her appraisal of the Agreste patriarch and she saw that it was Duusu and Nooroo. Lady Miracle wondered what it was like for the two Concepts to finally see the man that had used their magic to hurt millions of people being punished after seven long years. To finally re-join their fellow Kwami after a hundred years of being ‘lost’.
They watched every move Agreste made, every twitch and shudder and relished every broken sob and scream of agony that had left him and was still escaping his lips. They were waiting for her, and the realisation gave her an idea.
“detransform.”
Destransforming herself, Tikki appeared in a small ball of light in front of her, hovering almost protectively she glared down at the man who had abused two of her brethren as her aura joined Nooroo, Duusu and Plagg’s as they reunited without words.
Marinette closed her eyes, reaching within her she summoned each of the Kwami and they appeared, one by one, in glowing balls of power and light, their aura’s joining the others and filling the dome as they stared down at Gabriel Agreste with predator-like focus as he whimpered.
Not a single one of the nineteen Kwami moved. But their auras fluctuated and pulsed as they tried to reign in their anger as magic, ancient, dark and dangerous danced through the air, causing Marinette’s hair to stand up and she struggled to not shudder at the feel of overwhelming power.
“Curse him as much as you desire.”
Marinette turned and walked towards the edge of the dome, making a portal as the Kwami stilled. The tension in the observatory snapped with an explosion and she stepped through the portal as screams and other sounds were drawn from Paris’ infamous terrorist. If his screams under her curse were bad, they were nothing compared to that.
Closing the portal behind her, the noise stopped immediately and all that was left was the silence.
It was like a plug was pulled, and all energy she had drained out of her. She couldn’t believe it. It didn’t seem real. After years of battles, struggles, emotional repression and abuse were over.
“We did it.” Marinette whispered in shock, letting her spoken words shift the weight off her shoulders and felt immediately lighter.
For the first time since she picked up the Miraculous of Creation and Fortune, swearing to free Paris from Shadow Moth, Marinette felt free.
“We won.”
Court Proceedings
“Uhh, B” Tim walked down into the Batcave. “You’re going to want to see this.” he went to the Batcomputer, typed something in, and brought up news coverage of a court case.
The second Bruce read the title his face darkened he said, “call everyone down.”
“All rise. Department One of the Supreme Court of Appeals is now in session. Please be seated.”
As everyone in the court took their places, the Judge began to present the case. “Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Calling the case of the People of Paris, France versus Gabriel Agreste, previously known as ShadowMoth. Are both sides ready?”
“Ready for the People, Your Honor.”
“Ready for the Defence Your Honor”
“Lady Miracle?”
“I’m ready,” the Defender nodded her head. As she walked to the podium, Lady Miracle looked around the courtroom. The case was to be heard in the Palais de Justice. The room looked too clean for the dirty truths that were about to be revealed. Making her walk to the stand painfully short.
She wasn’t the only one asked to testify against Gabriel. Some of the most deadly Akuma victims and the most frequent victims were also present: Ondine, Mr. Ramier, August, who had just turned 2 years old the previous month, etc. Other reporters who had seen multiple battles also stood witness.
They filled the pews of the courtroom and in the back stood the other reporter with their cameras. The cameras that would broadcast the court case to the entire world. Where everyone would know of what went down in Paris. The mayor of Paris and the President of France both agreed to keep the Akuma attacks hidden from the rest of the world. The last thing Paris needed was for the Justice League to come in and mess up what fragile structure they had built. Heaven knows what would've happened if Superman or Batman had come and been akumatized. So instead they blocked the media and moved the JLE headquarters out of Paris to Marseilles.
Once Lady Miracle made it to the podium the Clerk came up to swear her in. “Please stand. Raise your right hand. Do you promise that the testimony you shall give in the case before this court shall be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?”
Does it count that the ‘Gods’ already loved her? I mean the kwamis are gods so…?
“I do”
“Please state your name and occupation for the record.”
She gave the clerk a deadpan look because everybody knew who she was and exactly why she was there. But she answered anyway.
“Lady Miracle, Hero, and protector of Paris, France.”
“Thank you. We will now begin the questioning.” As madam walked up to begin questioning, the rest of the world was able to see Lady Miracle for the first time in all of her glory.
She was asked basic questions about the fights, etc.
She ended her testimony by saying-
“I judged and punished Gabriel according to the laws of the miraculous order and then proceeded to turn him into the authorities so that he may also face judgment in the courts of Paris.” Lady Miracle said her face was hard and showed no emotion. For a while no one spoke, everyone was too busy processing what they had heard.
“Thank you, Lady Miracle” the Judge spoke, finally breaking the silence.
“Am I done?” She asked.
“Yes, unless the Defender has any more questions to ask?”
“None, Your Honor.”
“Then that is all, Lady Miracle. Thank you for your time.”
Lady Miracle stood and made it back to her seat.
“Next,” the judge continued, “ we will hear the testimony of Gabriel Agreste.”
.............
“And what about Marinette?”
“Who?” Gabriel glared at the person who asked him the question.
“Marinette Dupain-Cheng. She was the only person in the Akuma class, besides your son, that you never akumatized.”
“Oh, her,” Gabriel spat, “trust me, my friend, it wasn’t from lack of trying. Marinette Dupain-Cheng was an absolute menace for me. Despite not having powers like that pesky bug and cat she still managed to foil my plans. I tried everything I could to akumatize Marinette. I blacklisted her from multiple fashion houses, hired crooks to scare her and steal, had her fashion website taken down for ‘plagiarism’, I even went as far to make a deal with one of her classmates to make her school life a living hell.” he sneered, “Yet for some reason, that pesky brat managed to contain her emotions enough so my Akuma’s couldn’t possess her.”
“And you’re just going to admit to that?”
“Of course.” he said matter of factly, “My fate has already been sealed. There’s no point keeping any more skeletons in the closet. Marinette Dupain-Cheng was going to be my masterpiece. If I was able to akumatize her I could have gotten Lady Miracle and Chat Noir’s miraculous and I could have—” he was cut off by a series of bubbles escaping from his mouth.
“What was that?” The person off-screen asked horrified.
“That was the annoying curse that—” more bubbles “was placed on me so I don’t reveal too much about the miraculous. Regardless, Mme. Dupain-Cheng remained obnoxiously optimistic for the past six years, or she just blocked off any emotion that I could have manipulated.” Gabriel rolled his eyes.
“O..kay, on to the next question.”
Gabriel Agreste had a week-long court trial that started a week after his revelation. While the length and speed at which the trial began and finished was abnormal, Paris had wanted justice to be served as soon as possible after years of trauma. It was televised throughout France and everyone in the country watched it, many businesses and schools showing it on screen. Compiled by her and handed over to the group of lawyers prosecuting Agreste, it had been easy for Marinette to label everything nicely and put it in a folder to hand over. She already had a portfolio on the man, both Shadow Moth and Gabriel, all she needed to do was add what she had found at Agreste Manor when Ladybug was cursing Gabriel.
Some of the evidence included bribes that had been made too, and accepted by board members of Collège Françoise Dupont. Many staff members had also been bribed, the most notable being Principal Damocles, to ensure the Akuma Class stayed together. Phone calls and text messages between Gabriel Agreste and Nathalie Sancoeur, as well as between Gabriel Agreste and Lila Rossi, about akumatisation plans and Scarlet Swarm ideas. They dated from the day his identity was discovered back to the first Scarlet Swarm years earlier which included conversations about Nathalie being Mayura.
The calls and text messages were backed up by video footage from Agreste Manor’s security system of the three as they brainstormed different powers that akumas could have in future and planned the next Scarlet Swarm. The prosecutors had akuma flight patterns that showed that Agreste Manor was the epicentre and the building remained unharmed during most of the attacks no matter the magnitude.
There were files Gabriel had made on each of the past heroes, labelled by their hero names, holding photographic evidence that he had had stalked them on multiple occasions after their reveal, despite the Temps being thirteen at the time. The only file that wasn’t labelled by their hero name was Marinette’s, and upon closer inspection it was revealed why.
The file had been made before and she was revealed to have been Princess Justice and later Queen Mean and was filled with plans on ways to akumatised her. It was the largest file out of all of them and it showed she had been stalked by the middle-aged man.
It was almost an obsession, his interest in getting her akumatised. On the plans that failed he had jotted little notes how to improve whatever traumatic or upsetting thing he made happen to her that had nearly caused her to become one of his akumas.
It was disturbing and more than a little numbing as Marinette listened and watched footage, read documents and learnt about how obsessed the middle-aged man who had terrorised her city had been with her for years.
Luka, her honorary brother, had held her hand for the duration of the trial, gently rubbing circles on her skin with his thumb. Felix and Kagami muttered about defiling his grave, small and dangerously. Jagged, Zoe and Penny sat in stony silence tapped their legs like they did when they were planning to destroy someone.

IMW Chapter 12
It was unreal. God-like. Terrifying.
The Justice League was close to having a meltdown before Red Robin cut it off by showing another bit of footage. Dated one day after the Stoneheart incident, it was a press conference with Ladybug and Chat Noir as they explained what had happened.
Despite calling each other partners, Ladybug was the clear leader between the two. It was obvious with how she spoke and answered questions, how Chat Noir deferred to her, and how they stood, despite being side by side. Ladybug naturally drew people’s attention to herself as a leader did; exuding quiet confidence and strength.
By the end of the footage, Batman’s mind was whirling with the information he had just learned and all of the implications that it must have had for Paris.
The city had been under the control of a magical terrorist who could turn them into akumas for simply feeling a negative emotion. No matter a person’s age or gender, no matter if they were awake or asleep, they weren’t safe to feel anything.
It was horrifying. Not only for the victim, who didn’t have any control over their actions and had no memory of what they did, but for the people caught up in the attack.
Was Isa ever used like this? No, not the time.
They died, were injured and watched their loved ones be killed, only to come back and repeat the process the next time Hawkmoth made an akuma. They remembered everything and had to live with the aftermath as they tried to not feel anger, sadness, grief or anything they would have felt, for fear they would be turned into an akuma.
It was horrifying. And Nightwing, Red Hood had the same expression as him. Guilt, fear and fury.
Red Robin gave them very little time to process that information, cutting off many conversations amongst themselves as they tried to make sense of it all as he continued and they were forced to focus or get left behind.
The first six months seemed to be filled with Paris falling into its new normal of living with a magical terrorist that preyed off their emotions and getting to know and trust their heroes, but by the time winter became spring, the city had put their full support behind Ladybug and Chat Noir.
Watching the footage and reading the reports on the akuma battles as Red Robin split the screens so he could read off the Timeline page while they matched the akuma on the Akuma and Amok page, Batman became more certain that Ladybug was the leader.
Chat Noir constantly deferred to her during battles and she was the one that always developed the plan, using whatever object her magic gave her to her advantage in some of the most creative and tactically brilliant ways Batman had ever seen.
She also had a greater understanding and grasp on her weapon. Using the abilities of her yoyo to accomplish feats Batman was astonished to see a yoyo perform. She was also the better fighter, despite Chat Noir almost always being the offensive part of their duo.
When Red Robin made it to the seven-month mark, the Timeline marked it as the start of the Era of the Temporary Heroes.
It gave them all pause, and Batman agreed with The Flash as the metahuman hero muttered that calling something the first in situations like this normally wasn’t a good sign.
As they got further, he was proven correct.
Rena Rouge was foxed themed, her magic allowing her to cast illusions and she was the first temporary hero to be introduced. Carapace was only a month after her and was turtle themed, his magic meant he was able to cast an impenetrable shield while Queen Bee followed two weeks after, four weeks before the first Heroes Day.
Queen Bee was a disaster. She deliberately endangered hundreds of lives so she could save them to appear heroic, then revealed her identity for clout. Ladybug was openly livid at her fellow hero, but she paid little notice other than to fawn over her in hero-worship.
The Justice League viewed the clip in disbelief then tried to theorise how the hell Ladybug and Chat Noir could have not known that she had the capacity to do something like that. But, when Superman asked Red Robin if Queen Bee’s identity was known to the public, the younger hero said yes.
Queen Bee only fought in four battles, one of them being the Scarlet Swarm akuma battle on the first Heroes Day.
The footage from that battle had left the entire Justice League in stunned horrified silence. The casualties reached close to a million and destruction was city wide with the battle ending three hours later as Hawkmoth fled with the help of a previous unknown ally called Mayura.
Viperion was brought in less than a month after the Heroes Day Scarlet Swarm. The snake themed hero had the most interesting and dangerous magic Batman had seen of the Temps so far; being able to reset time back to a specific place was not something to take lightly.
King Monkey and Pegasus followed in quick succession and were monkey and horse themed respectively. The former could summon an object that affected the functioning of another’s powers while the latter could create portals to anywhere.
The last temporary hero was Ryuko, a dragon themed superheroine that could become one of three elements; water, wind or lightning and she appeared four months after Heroes Day.
Like Ladybug and Chat Noir, the temporary heroes all had enhanced physical abilities and senses but were lower in the hierarchy, deferring to Chat Noir when Ladybug wasn’t there.
Hawkmoth did the same as Mayura and her magic became a prominent feature in his attacks, creating sentimonsters to help his akumas.
He hated magic.
Ladybug or as she now went by as Lady Miracle continued to train.
It was astounding how much respect the people had for her.
The Ladyblog was all the evidence the Timeline gave despite the vague accusation, and it was all the Justice League needed to prove that fact. The last thing that happened between the press conference and the attack on the First Wave was the increase in the support behind the ship “Ladynoir” as the cat themed hero stepped up his flirting and became more vocal in his declarations of love, especially in front of people and cameras.
Each time he did so, Ladybug turned him down, telling him that she was a professional and did not date colleagues or she cut him off as he told reporters that they were dating and set the record straight.
Batman wished people in the Justice League, himself and his clan included, followed that same principal. The way Chat Noir’s flirting was put in the Timeline had alarm bells ringing in Batman’s head, especially since it was accompanied by percentages of how it had increased. While it could be a closely followed love story between two heroes for someone to see how it progressed, the tone suggested otherwise.
When Shadow Moth did attack, the battle was marked on the Timeline. Ladybug was impaled and pinned to the ground and Chat Noir was nowhere on scene.
The made it's way towards the hero when Ladybug kicked it square in the face and sent it flying back.
And Batman would be lying if he said he wasn't impressed and a little scared.

Begin Again Chapter 5 (sequel to IMW)
"What are your current policies on metahumans and magical users in Gotham?"
"Someone you know?" questioned Bruce, his voice carrying a mix of curiosity and intrigue.
"Yep," Pixie chirped back, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
Bruce began with his obnoxious voice, "We are not as strict as they used to be."
Pixie, muttered something suspiciously that sounded like a curse but not in the language of earth as Alfred would have said something. Sure he was fond of Pixie but nothing stopped the old-ever-vigilant butler from reprimanding on improper language.
Bruce, in response, raised his stupidly perfectly arched eyebrows that he attended salon sessions for and continued, "But we should know about them, and they should have their powers under check. It is also helpful if we know exactly how dangerous their powers can be."
"Hmm," Pixie hummed thoughtfully, a mischievous glint in her eyes as she glanced around the room.
She turned to Demonspawn and asked, "Got your camera ready, Damian?"
Jason, along with his brothers, quickly pulled out their cameras, and Jason swore he saw Alfred tap his phone, which was sitting on a stand by the countertop. Bruce, to his credit, managed to look both confused and slightly intrigued at the same time.
Pixie hummed a catchy little tune, and to Jason's astonishment, he saw Bruce making a funny expression. His sentiment was clearly shared by everyone else at the table, except for Bruce and Pixie.
Bruce then turned to Damien and, with a solemn voice, said, "My son, I know I don't say this often enough, but I have always been proud of you."
Jason raised an eyebrow in disbelief while the Demonspawn looked genuinely concerned. "Father, are you feeling well?"
Bruce, seemingly ignoring the question, turned to Timers, who was still trying to recover from his previous statement and said, "Tim, you saved me from my worst and are the reason Wayne Enterprises is flourishing. Thank you."
Timers, still trying to regain his composure, couldn't help but spit out the coffee he was unholy worshiping moments back. Then, Bruce turned to Jason and said, "Jason, I am sorry I never avenged you. After breakfast, we'll start on the plan to physically harm Joker to ensure he doesn't carry out his villainous activities anymore."
Jason blurted out, "WTF". Even Alfred was too astonished to reprimand him.
Bruce, undeterred, turned to Dickhead and said, "Thank you, Dick, for being the level-headed one when I was a dick."
The level of surprise and amusement reached new heights, surpassing even some of the frankly weird stuff they had encountered as a family of vigilantes.
Finally, Bruce turned to Alfred and said, "Thank you, Alfred, for putting up with me. I always saw you as my mentor."
Jason felt the amount of things in the world that could surprise him reduce very, very notably, as he watched the family's breakfast unfold in all its bizarre glory.
He saw Bruce's face slide off his neck? Only to see another Bruce's face behind it. The first face floated beside the second face for a while before going PooF!... and so did any semblance of civility they had.
Chaos reigned before Pixie shouted. "OK! SHUT IT!"
As the chattering abruptly closed Pixie continued.
"You saw I have magic."
He would have never believed that Bruce did a handstand and a split at the same time had he not seen it with his own eyes. Tim laughed out a strangled laugh which was borderline maniac. Did he see Bruce 2? Whatever that was, go poof.
"Talk amongst yourselves. Whatever questions you have get them printed out on a nice sheet of proper paper. I'll be back for dinner and answer them. Spoiler Alert most of the answers will be classified. So bye !"
With that Pixie poofed out leaving them dumb-struck.
He swore that nothing would have stopped the broody bat from typing off a list but today was a compulsory Justice League training session required to attend by all members, honorary or not and associates. He could feel his headache coming on with Bruce .
They placed on their uniforms with a slightly excited aura which was dampened by... honestly... all the variables in the situation.
They arrived at the Watchtower via Zeta Beam only to find it brimming with heroes... some who were anti heroes at times including himself.
Heading towards the training room, they could hear sounds of intense combat, indicating that many were getting their butts handed to them in sparring sessions.
As the whole bat clan stepped in expecting to see maybe Wonder Woman or Black Canary only to see a black clad figure dancing out using martial arts, honestly he didn't think anyone in the Bat Clan knew judging by their... frankly vibrant expressions.
As soon as they were noticed, Boy Scout Sr. stopped pounding Green Lantern's shield sparring and let out a whistle.
"As we always do we request anyone to share a particular skill that most of the people here can learn."
Lady Miracle raised her hand. "I can do that. How many people here can survive in space and want to smash stuff?" he announced.
He thought it was concerning the significant number of hands and at what speed they shot up. but with all the emotional baggage that comes with being a hero, breaking stuff is honestly the least destructive wait they can go forward.
Lady Miracle gave a cheshire grin.
"Everyone suit up! really are going to Noirdya Galaxy!"
Green Lantern raised an eyebrow.
"The abandoned clearly 2 million light years away Galaxy?"
"I can portal, you know.” Lady Miracle responded. “And the fact that it's abandoned makes it perfect for smashing ."
Green Lantern shrugged his shoulders "Fair enough."
As they all suited up and those who couldn't breathe into space stepped into a shield bubble made by Green Lantern. Lady Miracle turned to one of her gods? Cosmic beings? right. Kwamis.
"You'll see I'm gonna break my record."
"What exactly is this record?" Superman asked.
“How long I can survive without a suit. based solely on the dragon's powers which I have outside of suit. I often use this Galaxy for magical experimental purposes."
no one wanted to question her after all they all had their... quirks.
As they passed through the portal Lady Miracle had opened they came across a vast space filled with smaller than earth planets.
He saw Lady Miracle say something by her lip movement, saw her flashing a bit before she stood in a T-shirt and some cargo pants similar to what Superboy once more although she did have a domino mask like the bats and the arrows'. and then she flew and... hugged the planet? To everyone's astonishment the planet slowly turned into ash. Then she flew to another planet and he saw… some purple sparkles? around her hands and then she punched another planet and broke it into big pieces. How powerful was this girl? Honestly this was her out of suit being what he assumed passively charged by these gods.
She looked towards everyone. "What are you waiting for?"
He saw people readying themselves to join in the celestial smashing, embracing the opportunity.

IMW Chapter 8
"Gabriel Agreste" "then she isn't exaggerating, Gabriel is the largest fashion company in France, once this gets out it will cause mass boycotts and the business will go under, lucky information about the shadowmoth situation hasn't left France's borders yet.." before the finance minister could continue Ladybug cut him off.
"Information about Shadowmoth won't leave Paris as long as the Miraculous are in use, Apart from the information block and other things you have in place, my predecessor thought it important to place an magic barrier over all of France to insure no one especially the Justice League or the villains they fight gain any information about what has been going on here but that barrier will fall soon after all the miraculouses are in my procession and I leave France with the miraculous. So if we act right we can negate the worst possible outcome of a finance crash" Opening up her and pulling several copies of her plan and all possible emergency/contingency plans. "this is my plan but in order to do this with minimum collateral damage to the people of Paris economy…"
The meeting went well into the night but after hearing out her plan they all agreed it gave Paris and France the best possibility to recover from the effects of Shadowmoth, with a few tweaks here and there from the ministers.
They would start by talking away Shadowmoth's allies without exposing their hands. Ladybug told them her former mouse would give them the in to take down the mayor and from there they can launch a 'public investigation' that will lead them to the police corruption and will be able to replace them with trusted people. Lila would lead them to Dupout (the foreign affairs minister will have a field day with her). As long as they do this right they can wipe out all of Gabriel's allies in a single final swipe.
Monday – Noon T-48 hours till emancipation.
After checking on the kwami's Marinette was able to finish her school work in record time, even for her. On the other side of the apartment, the kwami were more than ever convinced that Marinette had a great destiny ahead of her. Her natural ability to wield all the miraculouses of the mother box without harm, her natural gifts with magic, her instinct everything points to that one fact. Marinette was going to leave one hell of a mark in history.
Marinette sat looking up at her bedroom ceiling when a thought accrued to her, she had taken in 16 soon to be 19 pocket gods who were cosmic beings who she has all but legally adopted as family. God dammit it was genetic, she cursed Bruce.
Bruce in a board meeting. Achoo!
At midnight on the tallest tower in Paris… guess it
Marinette looked at the ring in her hand and thought how easy it was to take. Looking up she saw Plagg in the middle of an Kwami hug as the other Kwami's showed him around the apartment, Marinette's gaze never leaving the ring. Taking a deep breath and putting it on the ring, resizing itself on her right fourth finger as it turns into a stunning emerald and gold ring .
Marinette sat on her arm covering her eyes thinking about the events that had undertaken an hour ago.
Ladybug, Bee and Shell (Basically Marinette transformed with Ladybug, Turtle, Mouse and Bee) stood on top of the Eiffel tower with the wind blowing strong.
Not even 10 minutes passed before chat arrived "hey Buggaboo, finally going to confess your feelings for this cat" said Chat Noir as he wrapped his arms around her waist as one of his hands wandered down lower to her butt.
"Something like that" replied Ladybug as she put her arms around his neck, tapping her index and middle fingers against his back. Chat turned his head to the side as his eye went wide and a smile lay apon his lips.
"about ti…" but before he could finish he frozen as he was coated in a dark yellow light as his muscles became stiff. Ladybug's arms unwrapped from his neck as the shelter went up. Her right hand tracing down his arms reaching and slipping off the black cat miraculous, as bee and Shell reappeared taking their place behind Ladybug near the edge of the tower.
Marinette looked up to Plagg as he moved over to sit on her shoulder "you ready for this Plagg?" "Yeah pigtails, I'm ready" Plagg gave Adrien the saddest look she had seen in years. Marinette stood there putting her hands on his head as she gathered and forced her magic out of her body to draw the magic circle Wayzz had shown her on the surface of the tower.
"I, Guardian of the Chinese mother box, holder of the Ladybug and chosen of Tikki, kwami of creation. Hereby revoke your right to wield the black cat miraculous, the ring of destruction. I curse you with memories of your time as Chat Noir and seal your ability to use a miraculous and to talk about them. This is my judgement as a guardian." Plagg continued "I Plagg, kwami of destruction, hereby acknowledge this judgement and agree to it." His words grew louder as he glowed. Adrien's body was enveloped in magic as his glowed.
Next Day
Everything went to plan and she was granted emancipation and legal independence. Tom and Sabine didn't stand a chance. They had called some of her old class to be character witnesses and had it back fire on the majorly.
The trail had begun a little after noon, Tom and Sabine's lawyer was running late because of traffic. Marinette's lawyer allowed them to go first and just like they thought they tried to impugn Marinette's character by calling 'character witnesses' otherwise known as her former classmates and 'friends', but when Marinette's lawyer objected speculations and asked for the to provide proof of their accusations they only replied with 'Lila said' this and that and Marinette's lawyer back down. The only other evidence they had was school reports from Dupout but they countered that with the reports Marinette herself filed against her bullies about the destroyed sketchbooks and notes, even if they weren't officially filed but with threatening Damocles with perjury he admitted Marinette had 'claimed' she was being bullied but there was no evidence. But when asked what evidence Lila provided for her 'claims' he could only reply with 'she had people to cooperate her side' but when it was pointed out the same people who vouched for Lila where the same people she had promised connections with people that could give them a jump start in their future careers their truthfulness on vouching for anything was brought into question.
But the final nail in the schools coffin was a signed statement from previous students who had their bullying reports buried because their bully had rich or influential parents.
After that, they turned their fangs towards Lila herself, after calling her to the stand and making sure she knew the price for lying under oath she kept lying. Her own lawyer showed a video from the Ladyblog and asked if it was true not releasing the smug grin Marinette's side sported when he did. When they got to cross-examine her it was a bloodbath. Clip after clip of interviews Lila had done for Alya and they presented again signed statements and even a few short videos of every celeb Lila claimed to know state they did not know a Lila Rossi and when shown the video said they would be pressing charges. And with that Tom and Sabines case fell apart. The only evidence they had that Marinette was a bad person was second hand accounts from people who had been lied to, and from said lair herself, it was even pointed out that most of her lies could be disproven with a simple google search and the fact that no one, not Marinette's classmate and so called friends or even her Parent had tried clearly showed their character and showed that Tom and Sabine shouldn't have the right to look after any child if they were so gullible.
From there it was a simple case of presenting proof of neglect and abuse. Showing bakery's payroll record and CCTV records to prove that they didn't pay Marinette for the hours she worked (both baking and manning the till) and that they had her working at least 3 hours after school everyday till closing even during exams season, meaning she only had from 6 to 9 to study for exams before having to get up at 3-4 to start the morning prep before heading to school.
Marinette had even tracked down some past part timers they used to have before Marinette was old enough to 'take over' their duties. With the final nail being the emails with the mayor, Tom and Sabines reputation was completely destroyed and the judge ruled in Marinette's favour after they showed the judge that Miss Gamora Luscinia, P.A. to MDC was willing to adopt Marinette (thank god fake identities and people who do that for bribes as well as illusions) The judge was satisfied that Miss Gamora Luscinia was mature and responsible enough to look after Miss Marinette.
Thank kwami that after a week after my emancipation my records were sealed after Tom and Sabine tried to expose who my biological father is, and I was able to convince the judge to seal both my record but even the emancipation trial record a secret for my safety, after all Bruce Wayne's kids are often kidnapped and he has already signed over his rights. And the best part? You ask? He doesn't even know it! IN YOUR FACE! You 'I-have-12-backup-plans-in-any-case'.

IMW Chapter 6
Tumblr media
She selected the draft email titled "school online" and received a response within a few minutes. While waiting for other responses, Marinette checked her private and work emails and accepted a few more quick commissions. Her change in status was accepted, and she was now enrolled in online schooling for her final year of college and lycee until further notice. She was relieved that she had submitted the paperwork for the switch months ago, as her teacher, Ms. Bustier, couldn't block what she didn't know. Marinette made a note of her school portal login and password and changed the standard password to something no one could guess ("Fuckofffuckers!"). She closed her laptop and proceeded to wake Tikki with a gentle shake.
"Time to wake up, sleepyhead," Marinette whispered softly.
Sitting up and stretching, Tikki replied, "Good morning, Marinette."
"Could you get the others and tell them breakfast is ready?" Marinette asked.
"Sure thing, Marinette," Tikki responded, phasing through the wall to gather the other kwamis.
Marinette plugged in her TB hard drive and began transferring her files. Once it was underway, she went back to the living room, grabbed her laptop and the master control remote, and took a seat on the large U-shaped couch. She placed her laptop on the table beside her plate, pressing a button to raise two hidden TV screens from the table, one facing each side of the couch. Marinette turned on Netflix on one screen and Disney Plus on the other, leaving the remotes beside them for the kwamis to decide what to watch. As she settled back into her seat, she sipped her tea.
"Morning, Marinette/guardian," the kwamis greeted as they took their seats.
Wayzz, Tikki, Pollen, and Longg joined Marinette to watch the news. Tik
ki had informed them that Marinette had finally begun the plans they had helped her come up with to escape her toxic household.
By 7:40, everyone had finished breakfast, but before Marinette could collect the plates, Longg said, "Don't worry, Marinette. We'll handle the clean-up." Longg, Barkk, Orikko, Trixx, Mullo, Sass, and Pollen flew the plates to the sink and started washing them. Longg handled the washing, Barkk and Mullo did the drying, Pollen and Orikko carried the plates, and Sass and Fluff put them away.
"So, what are you going to do today?" asked Kaalki. Marinette checked the time.
"Well, I should start on today's classes. It should only take 3-5 hours since I don't have to stop for interruptions. Then...," Marinette said, placing her finger on her chin, thinking. "A quick trip to the shops to restock on fresh ingredients, and then I was thinking of going over our Shadowmoth suspects list. After that, I have some sketching commissions until dinner, and then it's free time." The kwamis had insisted she have designated "free time" to relax and enjoy life, instead of constantly keeping herself busy. Marinette had even started taking hour-long herbal bubble baths with aromatherapy oils selected by Wayzz, with a kwami providing a massage afterward. These baths helped her relax and get better sleep.
"Just make sure you don't overwork yourself, Marinette," Daizzi cautioned. Marinette looked at the kwamis with affection because they genuinely cared for her.
"That reminds me, I have something to show everyone," Marinette said. The kwamis gathered around the open living room, and Marinette walked over to the wall joining her bedroom to the living room. Pointing the remote at the wall, she captured their attention.
"You see, when Uncle Jagged took the sketchbook with my dream studio to build this place, I had some very detailed plans. For example, I included one-way tinted windows, especially the large ones behind the TV. It reminds me a bit of Adrien's bedroom since that entire side of the studio has one-way reinforced glass. This way, no one can see you guys flying around. And I also had this," Marinette entered a specific combination into the remote, causing the entire wall to become transparent, revealing that it was made up of miniature rooms like those found in a dollhouse, complete with small beds and other furnishings.
"On the plans, I labeled this as a large hamster cage, and anyone who knows me knows I've always wanted one. This way, no one will ask questions. I made the furniture myself and even filled the rooms with some hats and clothes for each of you. Everyone has their own customized room and everything," Marinette explained. When she turned around, she was met with 16 surprised and shocked faces.
"Do you guys like it?" Marinette asked hesitantly. The kwamis quickly swarmed her, expressing their gratitude and amazement. The tickling sensation from the kwami hug made Marinette laugh.
"While I do my school work, you guys can explore your new rooms," Marinette suggested. She then pointed to the wall on the left side of the bedroom door and pressed another combination on the remote, causing the wall to descend into the floor. It revealed shelves with DS tablets and other electronics for the kwamis. There were 19 small rooms at the top of the wall, each labeled with a kwami's name, for them to play or read in private. In the middle, there were larger rooms with items like Nintendo Switch consoles and benches for the kwamis to play games together. At the bottom, there were even larger rooms with controllers made from the benches upstairs, allowing the kwamis to play dancing games. The studio's little details were a bit expensive, but Marinette had plenty of commission money and nothing else to spend it on. Her bank account already had a lot of zeros in it, thanks to Uncle Jagged, Cousin Clara, and the people they recommended who paid her fairly for her work. She even had an account that invested some of her money in stocks and other ventures.
"Then you can try out your new toys and gadgets," Marinette said. The kwamis were once again moved by Marinette's thoughtfulness. They had never before had a wielder or guardian who cared for them like this. Marinette had even given her old phone to them so they could watch movies and other things in the Miracle Box. Usually, they were given second-hand items, but Marinette had provided them with brand new things. Marinette found herself once again enveloped in a kwami hug, and they sat there hugging until Marinette's phone alarm went off, indicating that it was time to start her school work.
At 8:10, Marinette reluctantly got out of the hug and began her school work.
After 4 hours she got up started on her Shadowmoth files.
Gabriel Agreste: owner and head designer of the fashion brand Gabriel first came onto the suspect list because he had the Miraculous grimoire and then proceeded to become akumatized into the collector and then taken off the list because at the time it was believed that Hawkmoth couldn't akumatized himself. However he was placed back at the top of the suspect list after the appearance of his partner Mayura. Suspect for Mayura: Nathalie Sancoeur, his personal assistant, Who's health began to decline after the appearance of Mayura and would be in line with the suspect using a broken miraculous. Adrien Agreste once commented that she was showing the same symptoms as his mother did before her disappearance.
After the second scarlet moth incident. Lila Rossi is highly likely to be Hawkmoth's accomplices, with the amount of time between your expulsion and the appearance of the scarlet horde is too covenant unlike the first time where the illusion of an akumatisied Ladybug killing Chat Noir filled all of Paris's people with negative emotions and within 15 minutes the appearance of the scarlet horde.
After finalizing the files she took a look at the Ladyblog, well as much of a blog it was left after Alya started posting illegitimate claims (*cough* Lila *cough*). She was met with a huge headline of "What the HELL happened to Ladybug's suit???!!! She clicked on the video and saw herself sitting last night and with a soft glow, her costume started to change...
Well, that was strange.
Marinette- Tikki! What happened to my suit?
Tikki- well Marinette that was your magic awakening, it would seen that when you resolved yourself to emancipate yourself and put yourself first, your resolve along with the amount of emotion you were feeling awoken your magic causing your suit to change and match your new mental image of yourself and what you thought a hero/Ladybug would look like
Marinette- Wait so your saying my image of a hero was a skin tight barely leaving anything to the imagination, suit?
because that didn't sound right she had spent the first 8 years of her life in Gotham before her father, Batman, shipped her off to live with Tom and Sabine and signed over his rights to them, so her imagine of a hero should have been like Batman with gadgets not a onesie with only a yoyo.
"Tikki- Well, yes and no. Your suit was a result of you not wanting to be a hero when you first transformed, because you couldn't picture yourself was a hero so it gave you basic suit and equipments, I meant to tell you, you could have changed it but slipped my mind and you stopped complaining not long after and by then you had associated the suit and your own image of what Ladybug should look like."
Marinette just stared at the Kwami.
She could have change her suit? She could have more equipment than just a yoyo? She didn't have to have worn that skin tight, relieving suit for the last 3 years?
"Tikki..." staring straight into Tikki's eyes "run"

IMW Chapter 13
Batman had seen a lot of great warriors and fighters in his career as a vigilante. He fought alongside many of them in the Justice League, and had fought against many others, and through all of that experience he was able to give an estimate on how skilled someone was by watching a single fight. Batman could confidently say that this heroine was on par with himself. Batman hadn’t had time to think and process it before the Watchtower delved into chaos once more and he snapped, telling everyone to be quiet and focus on the information. They would have time to talk about it all at the end but understanding everything was more important at the moment. The Flash snickered to break the silence, making a smart-ass comment about how he must not know anything about the Paris situation compared to them considering he was being “a grump” and Batman only had to send the metahuman a glare for the hero to stop talking. The Flash was right, he didn’t have a clue what was going on and he wanted to know everything before they discussed it, but he wasn’t about to tell any of them that. After this, it showed a news broadcast in which Lady Miracle declared her new persona and revealed that Paris was free of Hawkmoth, Mayura and Shadowmoth's reign of terror. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the Justice League meeting winded up, it was decided that Wonder Woman would reach out to Lady Miracle to see how to proceed afterwards. All the magical users of the JL were excited and desperate to meet Lady Miracle since her magic was ancient and concerningly bottomless.
The Bats returned to the cave. Dick and Jason turned towards Bruce. Jason- YOU SHIPPED HER OFF TO KEEP HER SAFE AND SHE HAS BEEN HELD HOSTAGE BY A TERRORIST!
Dick- YOU SAID YOU WERE KEEPING AN EYE ON HER! Bruce, we trusted you to keep Isabella safe. You sent her away, but instead of protecting her, she was thrown into a warzone. How could you let this happen?
Bruce- Richard, I thought it was for the best. I wanted to shield her from the darkness that consumes our lives. I made a grave mistake.
Jason- GRAVE MISTAKE, MY FOOT! YOU HEARD WHAT THEY SAID, PEOPLE HAVE DIED! SHE HAS DIED! BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE AND DIED AGAIN! YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE BUT I DO! You call yourself a protector, but you left Isabella vulnerable. She should have been under our watch, not left to FEND FOR HERSELF! And you saw the court proceedings too! YOU SAW HOW THAT SADISTIS TARGETED HER, STALKED HER, MADE HER LIFE HELL!! DEMON-SPAWN TELL ME IF SOMEONE TORE UP YOUR SKETCHBOOK WHAT WOULD YOU DO? Damian (calmly)- Stab them and assure them that they do not need their limbs so much. Jason- SEE! SHE HAD HER ENTIRE WORKS SABOTAGED! SHE WAS BULLIED AND DID NOT GET AKUMATIZED ONCE! YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS? SHE LOCKED HER EMOTIONS AWAY JUST LIKE WE ALL DID EVEN MORE SO!
Damian- Father, who is this Isabella?
Bruce sighed heavily- Isabella is my daughter, born out of a past relationship. I kept her hidden, thinking it would keep her safe.
Jason- We ALL saw how that turned out.
Damian- Father, I am your true son, yet you sent away this Isabella? Why?
Jason- ‘cuz he is a DOUCHEBAG! I’m going out for some air.
Dick- Me too
Jason/Dick’s POV His little sister had died. She had DIED! The whole point of staying away and making sure no one could ever connect with them, was to ensure her safety. Instead she had died! She had died repeatedly, and he had been none the wiser. She had died, and HE HADN’T BEEN THERE! She had been hurt, and he hadn't protected her. She had suffered. His stomach twisted at the thought, as the bitter thoughts of self loathing threatened the pit madness again. He could already see the tinge of green creeping into his vision.
After Bruce left in a hurry, Alfred explained it all. Isabella or as Alfred liked to call her- Miss Bella was the biological daughter of Bruce. As long as she was here, she was kept within the confinements of the Wayne Manor despite everyone but Bruce’s views. She was however shipped off to Paris without any forewarning when Jason died, was not allowed to attend his funeral and in their opinions, horribly treated by Bruce.
When Bruce returned, he looked like he had been crying. He turned to Tim.
B- Please find her.
Tim sighed.
All of them surrounded Tim as he sat down in front of the Bat-computer and started searching. Marinette Dupain-Cheng. They found basic school records and stuff and soon a court recording came up. And a new link towards Marinette Luscinia.
Dick- What the hell is this?
Tim- It looks like… A COURT SUIT?! Jason- WTF!? Tim- Lemme pull up a summary. … … … After 2 hours of pure research and horror. Alarm sounds in the cave. Computer Voice- Justice League meeting now. Wonder Woman is returning to the Watchtower with Lady Miracle. Bruce- We will get back to this when we return.
Watchtower All the league members arrived and stood according to their ranks in the main room. Lady Miracle’s power, her magic filled the room. Every eye within the room turned to them as they emerged from the portal. Wonder Woman went and stood with the JL. Lady Miracle’s magic flowed around them like a breeze that whispered through the Watchtower. The woman stood strong in armour, lined in black. It was cut for easy movement, and fitted to accentuate the woman's form. Her suit revealed the slight but hard muscle of her arms. The base layer was scaled fabric of black and gold that shimmered metallic in the light. But it moved with the woman, like a second skin, as she stepped forward in armoured boots, also of black. The woman's features were hidden by black mask lined with gold that covered half of her face. Her midnight black hair was pulled back. However, what they found the most hypnotic was her eyes. They practically glowed inside her dark mask. Like sapphires tinted with gold sparks. She walked towards them with confidence. Superman stepped forward.
Superman- Greetings Lady Miracle!
Lady Miracle- Bonjour Superman. Wonder Woman stated you wanted to talk about the events that transpired in Paris?
Superman- Indeed.
Lady Miracle- Very well. You may ask your questions.
Superman- Do you mind carrying this discussion in the meeting room?
Lady Miracle- Not at all.
All the leaguers and Lady Miracle proceeded to the meeting room. After taking their seats, Batman began.
Batman- Lady Miracle we wish to know your account of what happened in Paris all these years first and then, we can move on to the other questions?
Lady Miracle- If that is what you want.
Martian Manhunter- When and how did you get your Miraculous?
Lady Miracle- I got my miraculous on the day Stoneheart attacked. I was just an untrained civilian. I *deep breath in* was a terrified little girl who was told that it had to be me no matter how much I disagreed. Previously I was told that I was not cut out to be a hero. So, that contrasted *chuckle* I didn’t have training. I didn’t have a mentor and I was a clumsy, anxious thirteen-year-old. I didn’t meet the Grand Guardian until months later when I was already established and trusted by the people of Paris. I had to make a decision to be Ladybug or let someone die, and I chose the former. I don’t regret my decision. I knew I had made the right choice as I stood against Hawkmoth on the Eiffel Tower, but a thirteen-year-old should never have been forced to make that decision.
Red Hood- Who would be stupid enough to tell you that you can't be a hero? You totally rocked out there!
Lady Miracle- You would be surprised.
Zatana- Could you explain the powers of the miraculous more? Majority of the magical users here have been told that they were a myth.
Lady Miracle- The universe with the creation of the Kwami of Creation, my first Kwami, Tikki. It was followed by her counterpart, the Kwami of Destruction, Plagg. After them came the Kwami of Time and Evolution, Fluff and with her birth, time was also born. The other Kwami’s followed afterwards. Kwami are proper gods or concepts. For millennials they existed peacefully. Each Kwami gave rise to their creations and blessed souls. These souls held a part of the Kwami’s themselves called their Chosens. I am one of them. I will get back to that later. As time went on a True Guardian bound these gods on their demands to pieces of jewellery thus, the miraculous came into existence. Then he fell in love and started a family on Earth, as he swore to protect the miraculous, the miraculous were grouped into miracle boxes, the most powerful being the mother miracle box. The one in my possession. It holds the kwami’s of Creation, Destruction, Action, Illusion, Protection, Emotion, Transmission, Time and Evolution, Repetition, etc.
There was silence within the Watchtower as the Justice League and Young Justice, all of the leaguers sat mystified by the knowledge and the younger ones were openly gaping.

IMW Chapter 5
Ensuring she left no incriminating notes behind, Marinette took a final glance around her childhood room. She reached for Kaalki's glasses and called out, "Voyage!" Grabbing her suitcase, Ladybug stepped through the portal and arrived in her design studio. Jagged Stone had arranged this space for her when he asked her to design and create his full tour outfits. He believed she would need a dedicated place for her work, offering her the studio as payment because he felt her prices were too low for his rock-and-roll image. The best part was that her parents were unaware of its existence. Only Marinette, Jagged, and Penny knew about this hidden sanctuary. Jagged owned the flat, refusing to accept rent and covering the utilities himself.
The studio was a two-story apartment with an expansive open floor plan. A beautiful kitchen stood to the left of the large living room, while a spacious bedroom and bathroom were situated nearby. Tinted windows overlooked the Seine, even granting a view of the Couffaine boat house on clear nights. Adjacent to the front door, a staircase several workbenches not only for embroidery but also for creating accessories. She could now expand her list of offerings to include these products. Additionally, a state-of-the-art graphics table allowed her to design posters and other computer-aided design projects. The studio encompassed everything she needed for her business, including ample space for fabric storage.
For months, Marinette had been retreating to this sanctuary after her sewing machine and materials were confiscated from her room. She began transferring her belongings to the studio, starting with her sketchbooks when they attempted to take those away as well. This place ensured she could continue working on her commissions. She was immensely grateful to Jagged and made a mental note to thank him when he returned to town.
Dumping her suitcase in the bedroom, Marinette carefully concealed the miracle box in the false wall she had created in the panic room next to her bed. Exhausted, she collapsed onto her plush queen-size bed, allowing sleep to whisk her away as the Kwamis flitted about the room.
After ensuring that Marinette was asleep, the kwamis gathered around Tikki with curiosity evident on their faces.
"Tikki, what was that shift in your presence earlier?" Wayzz asked, voicing the thoughts of the others. "It was strong enough that we all felt it."
Tikki hesitated for a moment, casting a careful gaze at her fellow kwamis. She took a deep breath before responding. "What you felt earlier was me helping with her spiritual awakening. My chosen has undergone a metamorphosis into a true holder and unlocked her natural magic."
The words hung in the air, causing the other kwamis to gasp in surprise. "But that... that's impossible," Wayzz replied, echoing the disbelief of the group.
"I know, and if it were any of my previous wielders, I would agree with you. But it has happened. I felt her magic awaken while she was transformed, and her suit has changed. However..." Tikki trailed off, her voice filled with uncertainty.
"But what, Tikki?" Barkk inquired, eager for more information.
"When Marinette's magic awakened, it wasn't a type I recognized. It was creation magic, but it also had elements of destruction. From the very beginning, when Master Fu gave me my miraculous and we first transformed, and even now, I know without a doubt that Marinette is a true Ladybug. But I think there's more to it," Tikki explained.
"Tikki, are you saying that she's not just a true Ladybug, but a true Black Cat? That's impossible! You and Plagg never blessed the same soul. And considering the fact that she can create full-sized clones with only a little help from Mullo, she would be a true Ladybug and Mouse," Wayzz rebutted, trying to make sense of the situation.
"After what happened tonight, I no longer think Marinette is a true holder at all. If I'm right, she's something far more rare and exceptional. She will be a better holder and guardian than anyone else, even across the multiverse. She's a once-in-a-lifetime, completely unique being. But before I can be certain, I need to talk to Plagg," Tikki concluded.
The kwamis were left utterly perplexed by Tikki's revelation. How could Marinette not be a true holder? She was able to use both powers from the beginning, and only true souls blessed by the miraculous could do that since they carried a part of the miraculous within their souls. Except for one kwami, none of them could grasp what Tikki was suggesting.
"For now, let's get some sleep. Tomorrow will be a busy day for all of us as we begin her practical magic training," Tikki suggested, trying to bring the conversation to a close. The kwamis returned to their box, with Tikki curling up on Marinette's neck, unnoticed by the others. Longg, however, couldn't take his eyes off their slumbering guardian. Before retreating into the box, he whispered two words to himself, "Natural Soul."
Across town, in the Agreste Mansion, a certain black cat kwami couldn't help but smile at the thought of his ring soon being reclaimed by pigtails. If what he had felt earlier was accurate, it wouldn't be long now. He would finally be free from the burden of this man-child he once called his Kit. Plagg was unlike other kwamis; he always paid attention to his holders' actions while transformed, despite pretending not to. It was his way of testing them, as he had seen too many wielders become corrupted by having his power at their fingertips. He knew exactly what Adrien had done—the way his hands and eyes wandered over Ladybug's suit mid-combat, the intentional brushes against her butt and breasts, all under the guise of saving her from harm. Even though those actions had resulted in him getting mind-controlled, Plagg was disgusted by Adrien's behaviour.
But now, if Pigtails had truly awakened her magic... there were ways to circumvent the requirement of both miraculous being active simultaneously for balance to be maintained. Plagg could only hope. As he slept, he purred contentedly, dreaming of the day he would be reunited with his chosen.
Morning arrived, and Marinette woke up, gazing at the unfamiliar ceiling. She tried to recall where she had seen it before, as it definitely wasn't her skylight. Then it hit her: she was in her studio, in her bedroom, lying on her comfortable baby blue bed sheets on her queen-size bed. Glancing at the clock, she saw that it was 6 am and time to get up. Carefully, she picked up Tikki, her kwami, and gently placed her on one of the beds, giving her a little pat on the head.
Walking into the kitchen, Marinette gathered the ingredients for French bread and put four loaves into the oven. They would be ready in about 20 minutes, giving her just enough time. Marinette was 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighed around 80 pounds, which was underweight for her age and height. After her parents, Tom and Sabine, started punishing her by taking away meals, Marinette had slipped into underweight territory. However, with the help of the kwamis, who made sure she ate every day, she had regained some of her health and reached a weight of around 100 pounds.
By the time she finished making breakfast for the kwamis, Marinette glanced at the clock again. It was now 6:50, and she started preparing her own sandwich. A smile spread across her face as she received a response to her emancipation email. The reply stated that the court date was scheduled for a week later and that Miss Gamora Lusinia had legal guardianship over her until then. Miss Lusinia's involvement ensured a speedy court date, and the evidence Marinette had gathered, including emails between her parents and the mayor regarding her sudden weight loss, assured her that her emancipation would be granted, as her lawyers had confirmed in their response emails.

IMW Chapter 4
Once upon a time, in the vibrant city of Paris, a girl named Marinette found herself finally free from the tangled web of struggles that had consumed her life for far too long. By the constant presence of Chat Noir, a fellow superhero and her partner in the ongoing battle against evil. Chat Noir had harboured romantic feelings for his can-do-no-wrong Ladybug, and his advances had increased.
But no more. After years of enduring Chat Noir's advances and his misguided attempts at courtship, she had finally lost her patience and had revoke his rights as her partner. She had grown tired of his relentless pursuit and his inability to understand her boundaries.
It all began when Ladybug refused to go out on a date with Chat Noir, believing that their focus should remain on protecting the city from the nefarious Shadowmoth and his army of akumatized villains. Chat Noir, however, took offense at her rejection and decided to stop showing up for battles, leaving Ladybug to face the threats alone.
Little did Chat Noir know, she had always suspected his true identity. She had seen through his mask and recognized him as Adrien Agreste, a wealthy and privileged prat from her school. Their partnership as Ladybug and Chat Noir had been a complicated dance, with Adrien's dual personas intertwining and causing a myriad of emotional turmoil for Ladybug.
It wasn't long before a new threat emerged in the form of Lila, a conniving classmate who began spreading lies about Marinette, painting her as a bully. To her dismay, Adrien did not stand up for her, proving his spine was indeed made of rubber. This betrayal only fueled her frustration and solidified her decision to sever ties with Chat Noir.
As the battles against Shadowmoth continued, she found herself surprisingly capable of defeating him without Chat Noir's presence. Her intuition and strategic thinking allowed her to outsmart the villain, and with each victory, her confidence grew. She realized that she didn't need Chat Noir to validate her skills as a hero; she had the strength and determination to protect her city on her own.
Marinette's triumph over Shadowmoth not only proved her capabilities but also unveiled a newfound sense of freedom and liberation. She was no longer bound by the constraints of Chat Noir's advances and emotional control. She could finally focus on her own growth and happiness.
At the age of 15, Marinette had been battling Hawkmoth, now Shadowmoth, for three long years. As the guardian of 17 magical gods, she was constantly under immense stress. However, everything changed in her life nine months into her guardianship, and it all began with an encounter involving Lila and a near akumatization.
One day, Marinette entered the classroom after lunch, just as the bell rang. Surprisingly, her classmates had taken their seats and weren't surrounding Lila for once. Yet, a terrible feeling welled up inside her as she made her way to her seat at the back of the room. As she arrived, she discovered her sketchbook torn into shreds, scattered across her desk. In that moment, Marinette was consumed by a fierce and uncontrolled anger, thinking, "How could they?"
The entire class erupted in laughter, taunting her mercilessly.
"That'll teach her a lesson!"
"That's what you get for bullying Lila!"
"Oh, look, the little baby's about to cry!"
Amidst the chorus of jeers, Marinette tried to block out their hurtful words, attempting to regain control of her emotions. However, it was too late. She spotted the butterfly landing on her bag, signaling the presence of Shadowmoth.
"Princess Justice..." the villain began, but Marinette was already reaching for her bag.
"Not today, Hawkbitch! You will not transform me into one of your fashion disasters. I am nothing like those whiny, childish brats in this class that you akumatize on a near-weekly basis. I am Marinette fucking Dupain-Cheng, and you are not welcome here! Now, get the hell out of my head. You better pray to whatever god you believe in that you can control me, because if you give me even an ounce of power, I will hunt you down and tear you limb by limb!" Marinette screamed, her lungs burning with the intensity of her outburst.
Just as the akuma was about to fly away, she swiftly grabbed it from the air, squishing it. She turned around to face her shocked classmates, noticing Alya with her phone out, presumably recording the whole incident, including the destruction of her sketchbook. Feeling a wave of anger and betrayal, she hastily gathered her belongings and headed home.
Upon reaching the side door of the bakery, Marinette made her way to her room. Lila had managed to manipulateTom and Sabine, causing them to give her the cold shoulder and treat her as a disappointment. Marinette couldn't help but find humour in their accusations, considering they hadn't been actively involved in her upbringing at all, wonder what Bruce would do if he found out? Yeah she'll think 'bout that later. Their devotion to the bakery had always taken precedence over their relationship with her. Although Marinette had loved them dearly, everything changed when she discovered something disturbing while going through the bakery's accounts records.
As she examined the records, Marinette noticed a regular monthly money transfer of 20,000 euros that started around four months after she began school. What puzzled her was the lack of a reference for the transfer, as her hosts were meticulous in keeping detailed records. The date of the first transfer coincided with the time she started experiencing a familiar feeling, a warning of impending danger she had learned not to ignore after becoming the Guardian. This feeling had led her to become cautious, and she decided not to confront her parents about the mysterious transfers.
Instead, Marinette hatched a plan. Knowing that her parents never deleted their emails, she logged into the bakery's business email account. After scrolling for a while, she finally found the emails she was looking for. As she read through them, the shocking truth hit her like a ton of bricks, causing her to rush to the bathroom, feeling nauseated.
The monthly transfers were bribes they had been accepting bribes from the mayor. They had essentially sold her out to protect Chloe and ensure that Marinette would serve as Chloe's punching bag. If Marinette fought back, they would punish her and ensure she remained passive in the face of bullying. They would not report Chloe to the school or the school board, and in return, the mayor would provide them with a monthly stipend, promote their business, and use their bakery for city functions. Everything suddenly started to make sense to Marinette.
Marinette's perception of them shattered that day. She realised they had only spent time with her when it was convenient for them, always prioritising the bakery over her. They guilt-tripped her into doing things like babysitting and helping others without compensation, forcing her to work long hours in the bakery even when she had homework to complete. They had conditioned her to be the class "example" and punished her if she didn't conform. The realisation dawned on her that they had orchestrated her suffering, allowing Chloe's bullying to continue unchecked.
Feeling betrayed and hurt, Marinette considered the option of emancipation. She forwarded the emails to herself as evidence for later use. She had stripped her room of pictures of her classmates, including Adrien a long time ago, replacing them with images of her true friends, Kagami and Luka. Her crush on Adrien had slowly died when he failed to see the harm in Lila's lies and the danger they posed. He only took action when his own friends were affected, and Marinette realised he no longer needed her as a connection to the rest of the class.
Recalling a conversation she overheard between Adrien and Nino, where Adrien admitted knowing about her crush and using it to manipulate her, Marinette buried
her feelings for him once and for all. She also stopped trying to salvage her friendships with her classmates.
Exhausted and emotionally drained, Marinette collapsed onto her bed and fell asleep, reminding herself that she had scanned her designs weekly and had only lost a maximum of two days' worth of work. Unbeknownst to her, Tikki, after ensuring Marinette was asleep, informed the other Kwamis about the day's events and their guardian's state of mind. They unanimously agreed that it was time to intervene and help their guardian escape the toxic environment she had been trapped in.
As Marinette slept, unaware of the impending changes, her Ladybug instincts signalled a significant shift on the horizon.
Marinette awoke staring up at the skylight, eyes meeting the full moon. Looking over at her clock it read 22:00, ooh she'd missed dinner. Shaking herself out of the sleepiness she decided to go for a run "Tikki, let's go out for a bit and pick up take out on the way back" "Of course marinette " replied the kwami shooting over from her little bed marinette had made for her on the nearest shelf.
Ladybug swung across Paris skyline remembering the day's events, stopping at a little shop that did the best chips, cheese and donner she had tried. It was one of the better new foods she tried since Tom and Sabine put locks on the kitchen cabinets so she couldn't make anything for herself. Sitting on a random building she watched the stars, deciding that it was time for both her civilian and hero life to change.
Meanwhile in Gotham City, New Jersey, U.S.A., North America
Hood- What do you mean you sent her away?!
Batman- I had to after what happened with you and Joker it was not safe for her
Hood- You at least explained to her right?
Batman-...
Hood- You are making it really hard for me to not tear you apart.
Nightwing- That's what I said
Hood- You are serious?! Bruce!!!
Batman- I HAD TO! You think I enjoy seeing my children being killed?!
Nightwing- BUT WHAT YOU DID WAS WRONG!
Batman- I HAVE DONE ENOUGH WRONGS TO LAST ME 3 LIFETIMES! I KNOW!
Hood- You are going to regret this old man, u can't keep her away forever.
Back in Paris, France, Europe
Marinette returned to her bedroom just after 1 am, fueled by a mission. She swiftly opened her wardrobe and threw a suitcase onto her bed. With determination, she began emptying her drawers, carefully selecting her favourite outfits. In just an hour, the suitcase was filled to the brim. Pausing briefly, she reached for her diary box, initiating her transformation. Then, she moved to her desk and opened the last drawer, removing sewing supplies and books. A pen in hand, she tapped the back left corner of the drawer, causing a hidden compartment to reveal itself with a subtle clinking sound. Marinette retrieved potions, herbs, completed power-ups, and a translated version of the grimoire. She had painstakingly translated over half of the book using Master Fu's notes and teachings, unravelling most of the riddles regarding ingredients. Placing everything securely into her YoYo's sub-space storage, she felt ready.
On her computer, she accessed her email and opened the draft titled "Emancipation." Her hand hesitated over the send button as she pondered the revelations she had uncovered in recent months and how she had been treated. Gathering her resolve, she pressed send without hesitation. The confirmation beep echoed, and Marinette accessed the computer settings, selecting "restore to factory settings". As a precaution, she had stored all miraculous and Hawk Moth-related information on a ghost drive, along with a copy of the regular drive, in case her parents or anyone else went snooping. After double-checking that she had everything, she pressed the restore button.

Begin Again Chapter 1 (sequel to IMW)
There she was, nearly 6 years later. Back in the dark, dreary city, sitting in the familiar car with the person who practically raised her for the first few years of her life. Marinette sighed as she thought about how she ended up back in the most crime-ridden city in the world, the place he kicked me out of, a small voice in her head supplied. Shaking her head she tried focusing on the present. That, however, proves a very difficult task when so much has changed, but that was a whole separate can of worms she didn’t even want to think about opening.  But kwami forbid if she was not gonna give him a hard time for this.
Though stuck in her thoughts, she noticed Alfred pulling up to the old manor grounds where she remembers wandering as a child.
Marinette knew very well why she was sent away. It was ‘too dangerous’ in Gotham City according to him. Yes, she was angry enough that his name made her growl but thinking about that was not gonna help ‘cause if her magic went out of control, the whole place could go boom and she wanted a dramatic entrance, not an explosive one.
Alfred’s POV
Glancing behind him to check on the girl he grew to see as a granddaughter. The smile faded when he caught sight of her lost in thought. The neutral expression on her face, the twinkle in her eyes dull compared to the bright shine that existed even the dull of Gotham. He knew the smiles and reassurances she offered him were fake, she was a whole different person compared to her old cheerful self. She had grown up and had seen how cruel the world was. Turning his attention back to the road, he silently passed through well-oiled iron gates leading up to the manor. Oh, how he sometimes wished the boys were as cooperative as Miss Bella was. Maybe they would have adjusted better if she stayed at the manor, Alfred thought. Even if he didn’t show it, he was rather upset with Master Bruce for sending his own daughter halfway across the ocean with little to no warning. He had a strong feeling that it would’ve saved a lot of pain and suffering.
Wordlessly, he wondered what happened to her after she was sent away, not at all enjoying the impending sense of dread building. For Alfred knew that he, along with the others, were missing a major part in the story the research could reveal only so much of that trial was closed because she was a minor. Not even Master Tim and Miss Babs could override without alerting the system.
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Isabella was pulled out of her thoughts when Alfred announced they had arrived. “Thanks, Grandpa Alfie”.
So when she saw a rather large group of people lined up outside the manor doors, she internally scoffed and rolled her eyes.
Stepping out of the limo, she wanted to gag. It wasn't due to car sickness, though, being the guardian of 19 magical gods came with side effects. Jason had died reeked of Lazarus. The fact how Jason was alive, she would like Wayne to explain though. Thank kwami that the Justice League meeting gave her a heads up and helped her prepare for it (cue- ramble about to the kwamis and her friends). It just made her more mad towards Wayne. She knew how over-bearing the Pit’s madness could be and with Wayne’s temper? It was a wonder Jason hadn’t killed him. That didn't change the fact that the stench of corrupt magic was making her nauseous. Isabella kept her emotionless mask in place, swiping her luggage away and sending Alfred a meaningful look when he reached to assist her with her bags. Glancing over the group of people, she instantly recognized Wayne, Dick, Jason. They had aged, but looked mostly the same. The others took slightly longer for her to pinpoint, but the next person she recognized was Tim. Ah, Red Robin. Next was a girl, Cassandra, her brain provided the silent Black Bat and finally, her eyes landed on a boy with dark hair, tan skin and green eyes. Damian. The current Robin. Next to him was a boy who looked suspiciously like Uncle Clark. Superboy.
Before she could think too hard about it, she noticed her two eldest brothers fidgeting slightly, Dick in nervousness and Jason in excitement but with a tired smile. Tim looked dead on his feet, grasping his thermos like a lifeline.
He looks like me.
Cassandra seemed to be curiously observing her body language and Damian was unsuccessfully suppressing a glare.
Wayne was looking at her with what she assumed was an attempt at neutral but welcoming. He was failing greatly, but then again, failing as usual.
Rather than cool, calm and collected, he had what looked like a cross between a pained nervous smile and a grimace. Guilt clear in his body language.
About time.
Isabella had reluctantly thought about this moment multiple times. She began putting together the perfect script in her head the moment she stepped onto the plane and all throughout the long flight to Gotham, silently rehearsing.
Yet as she looked up at him, meeting his eyes, it all flew out the window.
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All of them stood nervously as they waited for Isabella to arrive. Bruce was tapping his foot and the others were looking at him observing everything. The car pulled up in the driveway and Dick, Jason along with Bruce lived up in anticipation of the petite figure that stepped out. Gorgeous black raven hair and icy blue eyes were evident. She was wearing a casual professional shirt tucked loosely into a pair of jeans flaring out at the bottom. Paired with a low pair of sandals, she had dressed to have a comfortable flight and still look as if she was ready to attend a meeting. She moved to take her bags while Alfred tried to take them for her. They seem to have a short conversation in which Alfred resigned and she carried up her bags down the staircase. That was a surprise. Alfred was very hard to sway from his task. Both Jason and Dick were bouncing up their heels in anticipation and as Isabella drew closer however they stopped short.  They were stunned by what they remembered of their sister. Her warm and loving blue eyes had icy cold and hard and to look on she carried herself in a stiff posture with proper manners showing no signs of comfort and clearly on her guard. They knew how much Paris had affected her but it was entirely different seeing the results of the years by basically torture. Seeing her in such cold air they were clearly taken aback. Tim stood while traveling his cup of coffee and observing Isabella. Damian stood by Jon who was clearly invited to ensure that Damian did not end up doing anything harsh while Isabella came. Isabella approached Bruce and said in a cold voice.
Isa- Good evening Mr. Wayne. So this is what it came down to huh? I got some tragic backstory and you finally realize that your methods are shit?”
Bruce's face was similar as if words had scandalized his skin he looked imploringly at Isabella.
Bruce- Please just listen, I didn't mean to send you away.
Isa- Yeah it took you so long to call me back.
Bruce- It was for your safety Isa.
Isa- Yes, you clearly show how much you like protecting your children by shipping them away. Surprisingly I see all of yours standing here. Looking distinctly not shipped away. Anyway I’ve had a long flight and I wish to rest. We shall discuss the terms of my stay at dinner.
She turned to Alfread and asked “Am I staying at my old room or in a guestroom.?”
“In your old room Miss Bella” she turned around and gave Alfred a look that said really? Alfred chuckled.
Alfred- Very well Bella you’ll be staying in your old room and if you require anything to let me know.
Isa- Sure Grandpa.
It seemed that finally Jason and Dick had their voice back. The latter lunged  for Isabella and took her in a stifling hug. She likely chuckled and squeezed out something that sounded like ‘it’s good to see you guys too”
Jason- You have no idea pixie.
Dick- We missed you so much cupcake.
Isabella smiled.
Isa- Not that I don’t mind my life being squished out of me, I might want to meet my other siblings thank you very much.
Prying herself out of Dick’s grip (that was a feat), She turned to Tim, stuck out her hand to shake. Tim shook it.
Tim- Said nice to meet you Isabella.
Isa- Nice to meet you too Timothy. How’s the company and coffee going?
Tim- Damn well
Damien- How do you know Tim is managing the company ?
Isa- Oh I know everything. The little charade you all pulled while meeting Lady Miracle. The way the company is functioning, as well as the amount of Justice League missions Batman has taken, it is absolutely impossible for Wayne to actually manage that with the company. Plus the management is different and I have to say I like that there have been more appointments than before, clearly showing that Tim here understood the meaning of “Not everything has to be controlled by me and I need to have a back up plan for every single possibility and back up plans for every back up plan” like Wayne here.

IMW Chapter 14
There was silence within the Watchtower as the Justice League and Young Justice, all of the leaguers sat mystified by the knowledge and the younger ones were openly gaping.
Lady Miracle- The Guardians are in charge of maintaining balance, not just on earth, but the entire universe. Coming on the topic of Wielders. When a proper Wielder is chosen, they are tested by a Guardian. While being healthy is important, it isn’t about physicality, it is about their soul and who they are as a person. Chat Noir and Hercules were outliers. Chat was not a good person and Hercules was suffering from a mental disorder that was made worse when he wielded the Miraculous and it killed him. When the guardianship was transferred to me I found out that I was a True Soul or a Natural Soul.
All the magic users gasped as one. A natural soul was rare as they came. Only one was born every few eons. Raven dropped down from her hovering knelt before the warrior, her deep purple cloak billowing around her. "Lady Miracle," Raven said in awe, "Grand Guardian of the Miraculous, I greet you in the name of Azarath." On the other hand, Lady Miracle only seemed honoured by this greeting, as she smiled gently and pulled Raven to her feet. Apparently, as the Guardian of the Miraculous and a True Soul, she had magic that unholyly screamed, “Pure Power! Literally controls the space you live in! Bow!” Superman- Why was a child like you forced to fight a war?
Lady Miracle- Children die slower when Wielding a Miraculous compared to adults.
Flash- What!?
Lady Miracle- The Miraculous are the most powerful and ancient magical artefacts in the universe. They can technically be Wielded by anyone, no matter race, age or planetary origin, but only for a short amount of time otherwise you die. It takes a lot for someone to be able to handle a Miraculous and wielding it drains your life force. Children are more resilient; they last longer than adults because they have more life to give. An adult might make a year as a Wielder if they are really healthy while a child will make it three or four before they die.
Green Arrow- Then how are you alive?
Lady Miracle- As I stated before, I am a True Soul. I was meant to wear them. The previous Guardian was not aware of this though.
Black Canary- That sounds like a lot of responsibility for a child.
Lady Miracle- It is, but there was no one else. At the time, Noir was always goofing off. The old Guardian was the reason the old Order fell.
Wonder Woman- What did he do?
Lady Miracle- When the previous Grand Guardian was just a trainee, he stole the Miraculous of Emotion and took the other Miraculous as leverage to leave the Order with his memories, training and magic intact. He was greedy, power-hungry and stupid. He used the Miraculous of Emotion to create a Senti Creature that attacked the Order and it killed everyone, razing the Temple to the ground in the process. As he fled, he lost the Miraculous of Emotion and the Miraculous of Transmission and despite searching for them, never found them until they were activated years later by Gabriel and Emelie Agreste.
Green Lantern- If the Miraculous are powerful enough to raze the old Order of the Miraculous, send Atlantis sinking to the bottom of the ocean and do what happened in Paris, why are they used at all? Why not lock them up and keep them somewhere safe so no one can abuse their power?
Lady Miracle- The Miraculous are only used when there is an imbalance that cannot be fixed by the Guardian’s alone or if there is a Miraculous being abused. Only a Wielder would be able to fix the damage caused and bring the other Miraculous back. Locking the Miraculous away is sound in theory, but the universe would suffer if they were locked away, the imbalance would be catastrophic.
Batman- What happened in Paris could have ended the universe?
Lady Miracle- Easily. We had a few close calls. Talk about Chat Blanc.
There was silence for a moment as the Justice League processed it. It was terrifying to think about; the end of everything and how close they had been, but each of those times Lady Miracle had been by herself. She had fought alone. Everyone was lost in their thoughts. Then Lady Miracle stood up. Lady Miracle- If that is all I will take my leave. Wonder Woman- Lady Miracle, I wish that you stay for a while. We wish that you may join the JL. Lady Miracle looked taken aback. Lady Miracle- Umm… I want to take a break from this field, but would it be fine if I stayed as a back-up member? Wonder Woman hands her her membership card along with other documents. Lady Miracle- You knew I would accept? Wonder Woman- A brave warrior like you who has fought so long and hard for the people will never give up helping the people. Lady Miracle- I have your mother to thank too for training me. Batman- Queen Hipolyta trained you? Lady Miracle- Many people trained me. Wonder Woman- Could you detransform? I wish to meet Tikki. Lady Miracle- Yes. Lady Miracle engulfed in a light and a Small red bug was floating beside her. Beast Boy- Aah! Bug no– Mouse! Flying Bug-mouse. Tikki- I am not a BUG-MOUSE!! Beast Boy- AND IT TALKS!! Lady Miracle bursts out laughing- That’s what I said when I first met her! While Tikki spent time catching up with Wonder Woman, Lady Miracle mingles with the other heroes for sometime. Then Batman approaches her and says, “there are some information that needs to be recorded regarding your powers and your temporary heroes. Would you like to do it now?” “Sure why not.” Batman sat at the computer and Lady Miracle stood behind him. “I’ll start with the temporary heroes. Rena Rouge is Alya Cesaire. Carapace is Nino Lahiffe Queen bee is Chloe Bourgeois Pegasus is Max Kanté King monkey is Kim lé Cheń Ryouke is Kagami Tsurugi Viperion is Luka Couffiane Vesperia is Zoe Lee Argos is Felix Graham Da Vanily Chat noir is Adrien Agreste “He was chat noir?” Red Robin asked from behind. “indeed. “Multi-mouse is Marinette Lucinia.” Batman’s breath hitched. No, no, no, please let him be wrong. “Marinette Dupain-Cheng?” “Yes, her name was Dupain-Cheng before she changed it in the court battle.”
Oh yeah she was going to give Wayne hell for this.
Red Hood seemed to freeze and so did Batman and Nightwing. Red Robin and Robin also looked attentively at the screen. Black Bat had gone back to Shanghai. “you're the reason she's died!” Red Hood spat out. All the leaguers turned to stare at them. She was gonna put up such a show Xuppu, Plagg and Trixx would be proud of. "Excuse me?" "You're her friend?!" Red Hood spat, "You put her in danger! You want to help her! Forget you ever met her! Forget she exists! Just take your stupid, fucking yoyo and leave her and never even think about her again! It took you years to stop that mad bastard! Years! Of her suffering! I will not let you put her in danger anymore. So stay the fuck away from her!" "Fuck you," Lady Miracle said casually. Red Hood saw Batman blink. The only sign of surprise he ever gave. Apparently, the hero was not prone to cursing. Not that Jason minded. Red Hood snarled. "Fuck. You." she said slowly, and that's when Red Hood noticed something. Lady Miracle wasn't angry. She wasn't frightened by his outburst. She wasn't even disturbed. Most people, any kind of people, would be at least a little affected by someone of Red Hood's stature and reputation coming at them in a screaming furry. But Lady Miracle just seemed mildly annoyed. It had Jason subtly reassessing the hero, even as the rest of him fumed with rage. Lady Miracle continued speaking. "Listen, Red Hood right? Let's get this straight. You don't get to talk about Paris, or Hawk Moth or whatever that furry called himself, or Marinette. You don't know my city. You don't know my enemy. And you most certainly did not help me save it. Did Marinette die? Yes, she did. But so did everyone in Paris. Hell! I've died! More times than I can count. So you don't get to tell me I've failed. Not when the Justice League did nothing to help. Not when I have faced horrors and nightmares. I have stood on a rooftop and watched millions drown. I have looked to the sky and seen it fall in flaming rain. I have stood over my own corpse and watched the world turn to ash around me. So sit and calm down.”
Nightwing was a rational person or so he liked to believe in comparison to his family but a large part of him wanted to tear the woman apart limb from limb. How dare she treat Isa's suffering with such coldness?! How dare she just dismiss her like a number on a page?! He barely even registered what else she said, because it was all he could do not to give in to the rage. But before he could, he hissed cold and quiet in a way that made the worst of humanity cringe in the shadows, "If you think for one second, that I'm going to let her anywhere near you, you've got another thing coming, bitch!"
Wonder Woman got up “That is ENOUGH! If you have something to say, Batman, do so or hold your piece!”
Batman remained stoic.
Wonder Woman took this as his final answer. “You have no right to say anything regarding this situation. Now move on with tests and if you are in no mental state to do so, Cyborg shall carry on with it.”
Cyborg got up and gently but firmly eased Batman out of the chair and sat down himself. Cyborg- So how big of an enemy can you take on? Lady Miracle- I could try to take on the Justice League? Green Arrow- WHAT?! Flash- Kid, don’t joke like that. Lady Miracle- Why don’t we try to test the theory? How many people are here? Red Tornado- 44 leaguers are currently present in this meeting. Lady Miracle- OK. Can you gather them up for a spar? Green Arrow- What conditions? Lady Miracle- Me on one side and you all on the other.
This is going to be fun.

Begin Again Chapter 7 (sequel to IMW)
Marinette/Isabella's POV
Marinette got up and turned to see the curtain glowing due to the faint sunlight streaming in from the window. She turned her head to the other side to see the kwamis sleeping peacefully except Tikki, who was so used to her sleep patterns that she always immediately knew when she was awake or asleep (the little tyke).
Smiling at Tikki, Marinette got up. She walked towards her desk wiping away the remaining sleep to take a good look at the small desk calendar sitting on her desk. She turned the page to the current date. The number 16 stared back at her.
‘So,’ she thought. ‘Today I am meeting Wayne, Dick, Jason and Cass’s girlfriends/boyfriends.’
She stretched and went to the bathroom for a nice long shower. After coming out well-cleaned and awake she went to her wardrobe deciding on what to wear. She finally picked out a soft gray track pants and a pink turtleneck which had a few geometrical designs embroidered on it with white thread. Ahh… a classic but stylish look. After getting dressed she walked out of her room to see Damian walking out of his room too. They nodded to each other as a greeting and proceeded to the dining room and were (honest enough to admit that there was) chaos, just waiting to happen.
As Marinette stepped into the room with her eyes closed, all chattering stopped.
She said (keeping her eyes closed), "I'll be meeting everyone based on seniority so first and foremost Wayne's counterpart."
Selina shot Bruce a look saying ‘How much have you screwed up with this child of yours?’
She opened her eyes and so Selina gave a sly but soft smile. Though she was trying to hide her anxiety, nothing really remains hidden from the one who senses all emotions. Marinette felt the swirling anxiety within her.
"Only one question," Marinette said, giving a knowing smile of her own. "Can you cook?"
Selina shrugged. "basic acceptable food. I do know how to make burgers from scratch though."
"Acceptable enough." said Marinette, moving on to Dick's girlfriend.
She came face to face with Barbara. She squealed and hugged her well as much as she could seeing that Barbara was in a wheelchair.
"It's been so long!" she said.
"I missed you too kiddo," Barbara responded. "They really haven't been that in control since you left."
"OK you have the same question too," Marinette said. "Can you cook?"
"More than that dork can."Barbara said, pointing towards Dick who was watching intently, his aura dominant with anticipation seeing his girlfriend and sister interact.
"Ding-ding-ding," said Marinette. "That is the correct answer. Next!"
Roy came forward. Jason placed a comforting hand on his shoulder which clearly said ‘Don't be afraid of her’.
Marinette gave him a searching look. "Look, it doesn't matter if you can cook, Jason can cook very well. However, one thing that you must answer is which Shakespeare play is the greatest?"
Some tension left Roy's shoulders. "Othello," he answered simply with a relieved smile. "Romeo and Juliet is clearly overrated since it is the most romantic play Shakespeare has written. However, it is stupid to ignore the in-depth betrayal that is depicted in Othello."
Marinette made finger guns at him and replied chirpily. "And that IS the correct answer. OK, who's next?"
Cass stepped forward with a girl behind her and gently pushed forward. The girl's eyes were averted, clearly too nervous to even look at her. Marinette's eyes on the other hand blew wide in recognition.
"Fei!" Marinette blurted out.
The girl looked at her to reveal Fei whose eyes looked up in surprise. "Marinette?"
Now everyone was looking at them clearly recognizing Isabella's undercover name which she used in Paris.
Marinette lurched forward and grasped Fei in a hug. "Oh, my kwami! I missed you so much."
Fei, who had been sort of scared of expression since Marinette had said her name, relaxed. she pulled her hand from Marinette’s next binding hug and returned it with equal emotion.
She began rambling. "I'm so sorry I t-tried contacting you after I heard about the Court suit. But I didn't know how and I thought you wouldn't want to h-hear from me and I'm sorry I thought you hated m-me. I would have understood-- I'll still understand if you still feel that way and--"
Marinette squeezed her upper arm and Fei stopped at once.
"I understand," Marinette said with an assuring smile. "Trust me, I really do. but enough about the past so…" she had a mischievous look in her eye. "you and Cass huh?" she wriggled her eyebrows.
A look of realization dawned upon Fei. "So you're her sister? Isabella?"
"In the flesh." Marinette said, gesturing towards herself.
"Umm… not to interrupt anything." The girls looked over to see Tim with a questioning look in his eyes. "But how exactly do you know each other?"
The girls looked at each other. Fei had a guilty look. but Marinette burst out laughing and Fei soon followed.
"I would really tell you, Tim." Marinette managed to wheeze out between all her giggling. "but for that, I'll have to catch my breath."
It took some time for the girls to regain control of themselves because as soon as they stopped laughing for a bit they would look at each other and the whole giggling cycle began again.
"OK…OK," Marinette said, shaking herself back into seriousness.
"Me and Fei" she gestured towards the said person with jazz hands. "Met a year and a half back when I went to China to meet Sabine's father/uncle. There I thought I'd go exploring and I walked out with my phone, mind you I did not know Mandarin back then."
Marinette continued, her eyes giving nothing away.
"I happened to get my purse, which had my phone, the only device I could use to navigate my way around and communicate with the people around me, stolen. Fei was the one to steal it. but the pawnbroker, who was also the guy blackmailing her with the information about her father's murderer, said that the objects would be of value to the person they were stolen from, otherwise those items wouldn't fetch much of a price.” Marinette stopped to catch her breath.
“So, she found me and took me to the pawnbroker. While I did know what ¥100,000 equals to" she flashed Fei a smile, "growing up in this rich household made me feel that it wasn't that big of a price for something I held so dear. Fei on the other hand didn't realize that and she stole the stuff again but this time from the pawnbroker and we both ran out trying to escape the pawnbroker’s goons and then she revealed that she was the one who actually stole it and apologized. We ate at the restaurant with Sabine's father/uncle, and departed calling each other sisters."
A look of total disbelief flashed from all the eyes on them excluding Cassandra and Alfred.
Marinette gave a greatly exaggerated sigh. "Now that all this matchmaking approval is done I would like to eat and would totally appreciate you not gaping."
Everyone shut their mouths as though they had been hammered back into their regular position and… turned out still in too deep of a shock to function more than to eat and proceeded to eat the breakfast peacefully.
‘Huh, who knew?’ Marinette thought. ‘And it only took a near-normal incident in her life full of extremes to eat a peaceful breakfast. Sad that won't last. Her friends we're gonna come in a week.’ Sigh. ‘She'll deal with that when they get here. Right now? She was gonna enjoy evading their questions about her powers which were gonna start as soon as their brain started functioning at full capacity again. but you know what they say, enjoy the calm while it stands between chaos.’
"So" Jason began. "not that I don't mind it but aren't these matchmaking tests a little too easy? I mean come on you can do better than asking if they know how to cook!"
Marinette looked up. "First of all, they are in a relationship with you people, meaning they already have had their past and current lives come through with a 1-nanometer wide com. Also to be noted is the fact that I already read their auras so I know they have no ill intent."
Yeah everybody was staring at her.
"And not to be forgotten," she continued. "is the fact that I trust you all in your judgments. You wouldn't be in a relationship with them if you weren't happy and yes I don't need to read all of us to see the love that you feel for them. And the only reasonable question was the one I asked if they could cook because there is a reason why Wayne and Dick are banned from the kitchen. You cannot really live on burnt food and cereals? For Jason, I knew that they had to be competent enough to keep up with his literary knowledge. And Cass? Come on Fei is… no other word for it, great. but if you want," she said with a mischievous look in her eyes (that sent shivers down Jason's spine ) "I can always battle them to see what they're made of although I find it prudent to remind you that I am trained by Lady Miracle."
"no thanks," Roy said, giving a weak thumbs up. "I'm good, I don't want my ass to be handed back to me on a silver platter again. I'll never underestimate her after what I went through yesterday."
Marinette laughed. "You're not the first arrow boy nor the last."
Saying this her plate began to float towards the sink and she magically poofed… again.
"Shit," Tim said, banging his head on the table. "How the hell am I supposed to ask her about her powers now?! I can't talk to thin air." he sighed. "Come on, I better get a move on researching her friends coming in a week."

IMW Chapter 9
Life’s a roller-coster Marinette likes to ride
Next Week
“Let’s go get Nooroo and Duusu back.” Marinette almost didn’t recognise her voice, but as she spoke, she knew where that dark vengeful source came from as it bubbled up within her.
Turning back to the kwamis, she met their eyes as she silently summoned Tikki’s transformation and felt her power wash over her as they merged, her split doing the same with Plagg.
It felt different.
Momentarily, Ladybug’s mind faltered as she settled into her transformation. It was different, the way Tikki’s power spread through her, the Kwami’s power felt more protective as it joined with her, covering her in the suit as they merged.
Ladybug smirked back, inclining her head slightly before summoning a portal directly over Agreste Manor and jumped into it. Falling twenty meters, feeling Lady Noire not a second behind her, Ladybug closed the portal as they landed on the roof of the Manor holding Shadow Moth.
“Shadow Moth is mine.” Ladybug said coldly, turning to look at Lady Noire and she watched as she nodded in understanding.
“I’ll take Mayura.” Lady Noire’s tone was sinister.
Scanning the building below them she pulled up a hologram of it and began to study it. There was a crypt below the building, holding a number of generators and plants thriving in their own small echo system underground, including a tree where a pod rested at its base.
There were only two people within the house; a figure on the first floor sitting at a desk within the front entrance and one directly below their feet. The latter was pacing around what appeared to be an observatory. Glancing at Lady Noire, she smirked at her as she leaped off the dome, flipping as she did before disappearing into the shadow cast by the Manor.
From the shadows behind Nathalie Sancoeur Lady Noire emerged, the darkness clinging to her released her slowly as though they birthed her and he approached her from behind. Ladybug watched the woman stiffen, lean closer to her computer and pale as her eyes widened.
Nathalie reached for the intercom unit, no doubt about to alert Shadow Moth of the video but was intercepted. Lady Noire grabbed the woman’s hand before she could, snapping the bones of her wrist like a twig and covering her mouth to silence her scream of pain.
Turning off the camera footage and going back to the scan, Ladybug slipped in her own com unit and listened as Lady Noire began cursing Nathalie according to Court Law on misuse of the Miraculous and crimes committed while wielding one, muffling her screams so she didn’t alert Shadow Moth.
Checking to see if Shadow Moth had been tipped off or heard anything, Ladybug watched as the terrorist threw his staff, unaware that his reign of terror was drawing to an end.
Studying the scan of the dome below her, Ladybug realised there was a retractable metal door over the window that was designed to look like the roof when closed. It was designed to look like a butterfly.
Waiting for the moment Shadow Moth turned his back on the window, Ladybug moved, slipping down the dome and into the window. Landing silently on the ground, she cast a quick illusion to make herself invisible and blended seamlessly into the shadows as the man who had terrorised Paris for years threw a temper tantrum not ten metres in front of her.
He was tall, imposing and had both Nooroo’s and Duusu’s magic, ancient and powerful even when corrupted, rolling off him in waves as he hissed with unrestrained fury about some akuma attack. Shadow Moth appeared to finish his rant by throwing his staff. The noise was grating, Ladybug didn’t flinch, watching the man before her as his eyes, clouded with fury stared unseeingly at nothing, face twisted in a snarl, visible even with the ugly cowl before his head snapped to look at the window.
Shadow Moth growled out the detransformation phrase for both Nooroo and Duusu and Ladybug watched as he was covered in a blinding flash of blue and purple light before it faded, leaving Gabriel Agreste in his place.
Ladybug let out an inaudible breath.
This close, and now detransformed, Ladybug could feel the bonds with Nooroo and Duusu clearly and the amount of pain, fear and sadness she felt from them hurt her as they hovered closely together, cowering under the rage rolling off the man oppressing them.
Gently Ladybug dropped the illusion as she stepped out of the shadows and into the light streaming in from the large window.
The Kwami’s eyes flickered to her briefly before returning to Gabriel, not giving away her position or arrival even as she felt their awe, happiness and crippling relief.
The extent of their emotions only fuelled Ladybug’s anger as she approached the man silently, hearing Lady Noire finish cursing Nathelie. Lady Noire began to sweep the house for anything on the Miraculous, not wanting to alert Gabriel as she got closer and closer to him.
Grabbing the arm that was waving close to the Kwami, Ladybug snapped the bones under her hand and he spun to look at her, his scowl twisting to pain before his eyes landed on her.
It was satisfying, watching all of the blood drain from his face in a single moment. In the pale blue light that came through the window he looked ghoulish as he stared at her, wide eyed and frozen in fear as the dark promise of death rolled off her in waves.
“boo!”
Moving lightning fast, Ladybug reached with her free right hand and ripped both Miraculous’ off his chest, vanishing them to the Miracle Box the moment they were in her grasp, Nooroo and Duusu flying to hover closely behind her immediately.
“No!” Gabriel’s cry matched his expression as his face twisted with rage and manic desperation.
Swinging wildly despite the awkward angle, and how his arm was still in her hold, Gabriel tried to punch her. Catching it in her right hand, the crunching sound of his knuckles being crushed was drowned out by an agonised cry as his eyes filled with pain and fear.
Dropping his right arm, Ladybug twisted, putting all of her strength into her back, shoulders and arm as she threw Gabriel Agreste across the observatory.
The metal dome creaked loudly as his body collided with the wall before falling to a heap on the floor, struggling weakly as he tried to suck in air from having it knocked out of him.
Gabriel managed to sit up awkwardly; the fingers and knuckles of his left hand were crushed, and she had broken his right arm. His breaths came with difficulty as he raised his ruined hand in such a way she was unsure whether he was cowering away from her or reaching towards her for mercy. The man’s grey eyes were wide and his pupils were blown with terror and frantic desperation, fear saturating his scent as he watched her stalk towards him with the grace and power a predator stalks their prey with.
“Please, mercy. Please-” Gabriel gasped through short breaths as he tried to fill his lungs, “-My wife. I miss my wife.”
“The families of your suicide victims miss their loved ones.” Ladybug answered coldly.
“The Miraculous, it killed her.” Gabriel tried again, but it fell flat as his tone sounded accusatory.
Unprompted, Duusu and Nooroo told her, sending her memories from years ago of a woman with hair that shone like wheat under the sun and eyes the colour of grass. Of her selfish desire and dismissal of warnings given by both Kwami in favour of her desire to ‘be a hero’. How she did nothing but play with her powers behind closed doors of a Manor that became the Kwami’s prison long before her death.
“She was told. You both were.” Ladybug said, eyes flashing dangerously as she dared him to deny it.
“I’ll give you anything you want; I just want my wife back. I love her, please.”
“Anything I want?” Ladybug asked, stopping just out of reach, staring down at him and tilting her head.
“Anything, anything in the world. Money, fame, power.” Gabriel rambled, hope shining in his eyes as false promises fell from his lips; his mind whirling with ways he could twist this into his advantage.
“I want you to pay for what you’ve done.” She whispered.
Despite how quiet her words were, they carried with power and Gabriel’s face fell, terror overcoming his features as she let her aura, all that she felt towards Gabriel Agreste flood out of her along with her magic.
The smell of urine saturated the air as his bladder loosened but not a sound left his lips. Smirking, she watched how he shook violently at her feet, curling in on himself and away from her in horror.
Ladybug hadn’t even started yet.
“Gabriel Agreste, as Grand Guardian of the Mother Miracle Box, I judge you guilty of crimes against the Miraculous and the Kwami. I judge you guilty of using two Miraculous to terrorise, kill and destroy people and property without remorse. I judge you guilty of abusing the Kwami of Transmission and the Kwami of Emotion and I hereby deem you unfit to wield a Miraculous, now and forever more. You will forget all secrets and knowledge of the Miraculous, and I hereby curse you for your crimes and your misuse of the Miraculous.”
As she spoke, Ladybug watched as Gabriel screamed in agony, writhing around on the floor as the curse began to set in. Nooroo and Duusu watched from where they hovered behind her and she felt their glee as they watched the man who had abused and misused their Miraculous finally getting what he deserves.
Ladybug could end the curse there. She had completed what she had to, but it wasn’t enough.
Gabriel Agreste had caused too much pain, physical, emotional and mental, to be allowed to live. He had tortured the people of Paris over and over again without remorse all because he wanted his wife back. He didn’t deserve to live for all he had made akumas do, he didn’t deserve to live for the continuous cycle of dying and being brought back to life he made the people of Paris suffer through and he didn’t deserve to live when his suicide victims were not.
Gabriel Agreste didn’t deserve to live, but Ladybug wanted him to know the extent of pain he had caused millions of people. He was going to feel it for the rest of his life, and it was going to follow him in death.
“You will forever feel the pain you have caused the people of Paris no matter if it’s mental, emotional or physical. You will experience every moment of their torture and suffering at your hand for the rest of your existence, in both life and death you never escape what you have done to others. So I have said, so mote be it.”
As the last of the cold words layered with magic left her lips, Gabriel’s back arched, forming a perfect curve and his lips opened in a silent scream, eyes blown so far open they looked ready to pop out of his head before he went slack as he fell unconscious.
