I really like both those comics, so they're definitely an influence. I wouldn't have expected that they'd be particularly visible in my work though! There are bunch of other things that have heavily influenced me as well. Both Kate Beaton's Hark! A Vagrant and australian webcomic Oglaf are pinnacles of using very simple stylised faces for extremely expressive (and funny) work, and I've tried to study both at times. Gunnm/Battle Angel Alita was a hugely formative work for me. Plus there are a bunch of artist in the peer or peer-adjacent kinda spaces whose work I really admire and study
