“I ask you to come here today so we could get acquainted and so I could explain to you that I am bound with this chain because I believe that the hope of Israel - the Messiah - has already come (Acts 28:20).”
The Jews are desperate to kill Paul and he is tried in Jerusalem, Caesarea where he is imprisoned for two years, then sent to Rome, shipwrecked on the way, arrives and spends all day with friendly Jews talking about Jesus and the scriptures, using the law of Moses and the books of the prophets (Old Testament). Some were persuaded and others were not.
Paul’s says, “the Holy Spirit was right when He said to your ancestors through Isaiah the prophet, ‘and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.’”
Interesting God and Jesus did all that work still knowing some people, even in the first century would not understand. Clouded and distracted by other things. Jesus wants to heal us, our soul depends on it. All we have to do is ask.
To close the book of Acts, Paul was acquitted and lived in Rome for two years “boldly proclaiming the Kingdom of god and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ. And no one tried to stop him.”

Quote
'But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins' -- he said to the man who was paralyzed -- 'I say to you, rise, pick up your bed and go home.' And immediately he rose up before them and picked up what he had been lying on and went home, glorifying God.

Swedenborg taught in his Writings of Divine Revelations, that the more compassionate we become, the more we enter into a closer relationship with The Lord. The purpose of compassion is not just to feel pity for someone. Having compassion in your heart is truly a sign and urge from God to do something to help the other person in need.

Powered!Billy headcanons that may or may not be popping up in my fic.
A sliver of the mindflayer stayed lodged in Billy’s chest after everything. Not enough to control him, but enough to make him more sensitive to the Upside-Down nonsense. Enough, that with practice and emotion, Billy finds he can do things.
The first time he force-punches a demodog, it’s to save Max. He hadn’t thought twice about it, had just seen his sister in danger, again, and thrown all of his strength into the hit. Not only does he kill the thing in one shot, it goes flying. Understandably, he’s confused, and so are the kids, but Dustin breaks the silence with a shouted, “That was freaking AWESOME!”
It’s the beginning of the kids warming up to him, and as much as Billy grouses about it, he’s more than happy to be liked by them. It also marks the beginning of the Party experimenting to see what all he can do.
He’s not like El, he can’t move things with his mind or project into people’s heads. What he can do he doesn’t seem to have the best control over either. The force-punch only really works when he’s stressed out, and his other ability (he radiates berserker rage when he’s in the midst of a fight, which can and will spread to anyone and anything around him.) seems pretty damn useless.
But the kids are nothing if not persistent. They help Billy find a use for his power, help him figure out how to control it and wield it on purpose. Dustin, and eventually Eddie, call him The Hulk. Max buys him a set of green trunks for his birthday, because she’s a little shit like that, and Mike begrudgingly admits that his power is pretty badass.
The party now has a berserker in addition to their fighter, and it makes their lives significantly less deadly.

“Following God is not about modifying our behaviors - it's about the transformation of our hearts. As we are honest about the emotions, situations, and past hurts in our lives that need healing and we welcome God into those places, our hearts can become whole again. Once the pain is healed, our lives begin to look so different. This is the transformative power of God.”
—Christine Caine
