REVERSE TROPE WRITING PROMPT BY @out-of-jams
TOO MANY BEDS
DCXDP, GEN
——
The Wayne foundation was a giant in the corporate world. What made it impressive was that their company was based in Gotham where, despite or perhaps in spite of the frequent rogue attacks and general hostile environment, the Waynes managed to run a tight and efficient ship. Their operations run extremely smoothly.
However, that was not to say there were no mistakes. There were. Wayne Enterprises usually had enough-more than enough- budget to cover such mistakes.
The employees, after all, were humans (though their new CEO, Timothy Drake, might have been a vampire considering how pale he was) and were prone to make mistakes.
Thus, due to the nature of human mistakes, the visiting senior class of Amity Park’s Casper High found themselves in a rather baffling situation.
“Well, we can’t say there’s not enough beds.” Their chaperone-teacher, Mr. Lancer rubbed the back of his bald head.
Before them laid not ten, not twenty, but fifty five twin beds arranged in neat rows in Gotham Academy’s auditorium.
“What is this, the military?” Their other chaperone-teacher, Mr. Falluca, grumbled.
“It’s not like we haven’t slept in worse places.” Sam grimaced. The class collective shuddered as they remembered the junior camping trip from hell.
“Ugh, my hair is going to get frizzy if we sleep here.” Paulina muttered.
“I thought we were getting called here for cheer or something.” Star frowned. Her boyfriend of four years, Kwan, slung an arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer to comfort her.
The doors open as a harried Wayne Industries employee ran in.
“I am so, so sorry! This isn’t where we were supposed to have you stay but WE mistook the donation request and sent in beds instead of paying for hotel rooms!” They blurted out, looking panicked. “Your hosting class - we’ll have you meet them outside, maybe?”
“It’s fine, right guys?” Danny spoke up, arms crossed. Tucker hummed at his side, tapping quickly at his
“Yeah, whatever Fentina says,” Dash grumbled. After the reveal of Danny’s identity as Phantom, his hostility and bullying died a quick death. Though, Dash kept the nicknames as they were a hard habit to kick and there weren’t any malicious intent behind it. In fact, Dash quickly became one of Danny’s biggest supporters, hidden behind scowls and general posturing.
“We could just meet in here. Get rid of the bedframes and just have a giant sleepover while you guys get everything sorted out.” Valerie volunteered.
“That’s a great idea!”
The class, coordinated from years of ghost attacks, quickly assembled the giant floor mattress. Gotham Academy’s senior class filed in ten minutes later, gaping at the giant floor mattress(es) before whooping and joining Casper High’s seniors in tumbling around.
——
Danny threw an empty plastic water bottle at Kwan’s head.
“Hey! No PDA on the giant mattress!”
“Yeah, get that love shit out of here!” Someone else hollered.
“There might technically be only one bed, now, but it’s still multiple mattresses!” Stephanie Brown, one of Gotham Academy’s seniors heckled.
“Hey, Danny, it’s your turn for truth or dare!” Tim said.
“Truth.” Danny returned.
“Lameeee.”
“C’mon Fenturd, too chicken to do dare?”
“Danny, that’s so boring,” Sam smirked.
Danny scowled. “Hey, whose side are you on?”
Sam and Tucker grinned and said in unison, “The winning side, duh.”
Tim cut in. “So, what’s the worst thing that’s happened to you?”
Danny groaned. “Camping trip, no contest.”
“Camping trip?”

Oooh idk if you've watched it or not, my 1d did a cover of Stereo Hearts- what would Y/N be singing? Would she be singing a little bit like the rest or like the main thing with Niall? Ik this probably makes no sense whatsoever but yk
Also here's the link to the video if you haven't watched it already:
https://youtu.be/5FngB-jktHI
M'am this is when I caught the one direction infection.
Ok so first it's Zayn with I Gotta Feeling with Liam trying to show off with that one note.
Then it's Niall with Stereo Hearts. YN sits to his left (one could say she's directly across from Harry) and she has one leg crossed over the other (proper like her management told her to do). While Niall sings, her and Harry do a harmony with Niall. And as much as Harry tries to be discreet about it, he sings those lines to her.
And it makes sense that he would keep staring at her because then it's her turn to stand up to sing her cover: We Found Love by Rihanna.
Yellow diamonds in the light
Now we're standing side by side
As your shadow crosses mine
What it takes to come alive
Harry's eyes follow her figure as she slowly walks along the stage. She closes her eyes, her hand pushing and pulling in the air by her side as she hits those higher notes.
It's the way I'm feeling I just can't deny
But I've gotta let it go
"Sing it!" Liam shouts and YN points her microphone towards the crowd with a smile, mouthing the words along with the fans as they sing.
We found love in a hopeless place
She then as she continues the rest of the chorus. Harry thinks it's just all in his head when she looks to him when she sings a line before Liam shouts a, "Give it up for YN!"
She does a playful curtsy before she takes her seat next to Niall again.
Then it's Louis with his cover of Valerie (my personal fav) and everyone joins in with those harmonies. And the fans tend to scream a little louder when they notice her and Harry smile to each other. He would look away and smile at the ground as she would turn her smile to crowd to make it seem like she was smiling for the fans instead.
But the fans know better, they always do.
And then for the finale Liam gets up to sing the first part of Torn with Harry following. It's not long before the whole bands stands in a row to sing their XFactor cover.

Ain't No Mountain High Enough
Written By: Valerie Simpson & Nickolas Ashford
Artist: Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell
Released: 1967
“Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” marked the first collaboration between soul artists Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell in terms of releases. It was the first single from their debut album United where it also appeared as the opening track on the record. Although they kept their relationship as professional as could be, the two were practically inseparable with most describing them as “brother and sister.” At Terrell’s funeral after her tragic death at the mere age of 24, her mother barred everyone at Motown from attending except Gaye (who also delivered the eulogy) as she felt he was her only friend there. Perhaps there really was no mountain, valley or river that could ever come between them. The song was listed by writers of the UK publication NME as one of the Top 150 Singles of All Time, and the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999. The song would go on to be covered by dozens of artists, including Diana Ross, The Supremes and The Temptations, as well as the songwriters Ashford & Simpson among others.
[Verse 1] Listen, baby Ain't no mountain high Ain't no valley low Ain't no river wide enough, baby If you need me, call me No matter where you are No matter how far Don't worry, baby Just call my name I'll be there in a hurry You don't have to worry 'Cause, baby, there [Chorus] Ain't no mountain high enough Ain't no valley low enough Ain't no river wide enough To keep me from getting to you, babe [Verse 2] Remember the day I set you free I told you you could always count on me, darling From that day on, I made a vow I'll be there when you want me, someway, somehow Oh, baby, there [Chorus] Ain't no mountain high enough Ain't no valley low enough Ain't no river wide enough To keep me from getting to you, babe [Bridge] Oh no, darling No wind, no rain Or winter's cold Can stop me, baby (No, no, baby) 'Cause you are my goal If you're ever in trouble I'll be there on the double Just send for me, oh, baby, ha [Verse 3] My love is alive (Woo) Way down in my heart Although we are miles apart If you ever need a helping hand I'll be there on the double Just as fast as I can Don't you know that there [Chorus] Ain't no mountain high enough Ain't no valley low enough Ain't no river wide enough To keep me from getting to you, baby Don't you know that there Ain't no mountain high enough Ain't no valley low enough Ain't no river wide enough Ain't no mountain high enough Ain't no valley low enough

At Last
Written By: Henry Warren & Mack Gordon
Artist: Etta James
Released: 1960
Originally recorded by: Glenn Miller and His Orchestra feat. Pat Friday & John Payne, 1941
A song originally written in 1941 by Mack Gordon and Harry Warren and originally performed by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra for the 1941 movie Sun Valley Serenade, this ballad found its greatest success in the hands of the late Etta James in this 1960 recording. The tune became James' signature song. The song is featured on several “best of” lists, including inclusion in the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry and induction into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999.
[Verse 1] At last My love has come along My lonely days are over And life is like a song (Oh, yeah, yeah) [Verse 2] At last The skies above are blue My heart was wrapped up in clover The night I looked at you [Bridge] I found a dream that I could speak to A dream that I can call my own I found a thrill to press my cheek to A thrill that I've never known (Oh, yeah, yeah) [Verse 3] You smiled, you smiled Oh, and then the spell was cast And here we are in heaven For you are mine at last

Chapter thirteen came out yesterday! We are officially over the halfway mark, and things are going to start heating up plot wise very soon! This is the second half of the Danny POV double feature for this week. Wednesday and next Saturday's chapters will be in Valerie's POV. Then it's back to switching.
In this chapter, Danny takes his sick leave, and we follow him over the weekend. Still not convinced to click? Have a sample below:
He stood on the edge of the roof, watching the cars and pedestrians below hustle to park or enter the shops on Main. The standing appointment to meet Red Huntress had drawn him out of the warmth of his nice soft bed on the late fall evening. He glanced down at a patch of grass, hoping Dr. A wasn’t frowning in disapproval at him being out of bed. He needed to talk to Valerie, and he didn’t want to do it over the phone. As long as he wasn’t fighting, she wouldn’t get irritated and try to talk to Vlad, right? He considered it for a moment, watching a family try to force a stroller over the still uneven sidewalk from the fight with the Ops Center, realizing her contacting Plasmius ranked higher than a conversation with his actual parents. He could brush off Vlad, and the man wasn’t likely to do more than take advantage of the last waning days of his illness, but if the powerful ghost woman dropped by Fentonworks to explain to Mr. and Mrs. Fenton that their halfa son needed more time to recuperate... The idea had him pushing down shivers as a gust of wind ruffled his hair. Ugh, no, that’s the worst case scenario. My parents don’t listen to ghost rambles...usually, but she’s strong enough to keep them captive, and coherent enough to make them pay attention. It’d be hard to brush her off. How is “Technus’ mom visits Vlad” the best case scenario here? The couple below got the stroller up onto the concrete and pushed it towards a toy store.
That store had dumped all its electronic wares over the last three weeks, sending even the non-wiggling stuff elsewhere, and smashing everything that moved. All that was left were simple things like wooden blocks or hot wheels. He checked the time again on his cell, frowning when it showed five after the hour. Val was never late—
“Sorry, I had to wrangle the bridge between Elmerton and Amity.”
“The...drawbridge came to life?” He turned around, taking in the harried look on her face and the soot and dust covering her armor. The debris disappeared as he watched, swept away by some mechanical process of the suit. It was eerie...and neat. Tucker would love a chance to scan the abilities of the new suit.
“Yeah, well not the bridge itself, that’s just concrete and metal. The control station is made of a bunch of computers and electronics, though, and it developed a mind of its own. It didn’t do anything dangerous, I mean it didn’t try to slam the road down on passing boats or toss cars into the river, but it was still a hassle. I had to spend the last hour scrubbing out every crack and crevasse on that thing before it stopped pouting and did its job.” She started trying to brush off the remaining grime, her face a mix of disgust and frustration.
“Wait, you’re filthy because you got put on cleaning duty?”

heres my thing i wrote specifically because my teacher wrote a huge paragraph about this exhibition on historical mens fashion (sorry to link a vogue article, i do so only for the photo i need) specifically the following photo;
Tumblr media
in which she discussed the dress on the left at LENGTH, around 200 or so words at least, talking about how revolutionary it was for harry styles to wear this dress on vogue. not mentioning ONCE even in passing the dress on the right worn by billie porter a full year prior that kicked up its own media frenzy a year prior.
this pissed me off to no end so i submitted the following for one of my module essays, sorry some of the citations are so lame and there are so few they had to be from coursework. and sorry i couldnt discuss more i only had 500 words give or take
skip the first two paragraphs if you only want to see the rant.
Module 2
2.2 How has masculine dress changed throughout history?
A great quote to describe the history of western masculine fashion ideals comes from a symposium by Dr. Valerie Steele on the colour pink and its history, when she discussed how the colour officially became feminine in the west she said; “The reason pink became feminised, that colour became feminized, was that it left the masculine wardrobe.” (1:23- 1:30). This quote quickly encapsules a reoccurring trend in attitude toward fashion trends that is repeated throughout history in regard to what clothing is considered to be ‘masculine’. The item is masculine until it is considered feminine.
Another example of this rule of this given in the High Heels, Wigs, and Beauty lecture is the feminine appearance of a heel or a high boot. Both of these attributes originally were associated with masculinity because they were practical (as most modern masculine fashion is, anything impractical is feminine), their length protected the leg and the heel could be used to anchor a horse rider’s foot to the stirrup, giving them better control. As well as aesthetic achievements of the heel increasing the wearers height, a masculine ideal.
Women originally adopted heels into their wardrobe to add masculinity to their style, and once they started to do so it was observed that the heel could serve to enhance the appearance of the wearer’s legs and rear end the style was quickly sexualised and lost all staying power in the masculine wardrobe. While there are ways for men to dress in an erotically evocative style the heel became synonymous with a sensual sexuality, that is not compatible with a strong masculine sexual energy. And as a result, heels left the masculine wardrobe in the west.
The fashion cycle has been trending more androgynous for quite some time now, and with the revitalised memory of historical queer, androgynous male icons such as Prince and David Bowie coming back into the public conscious with their deaths, as a contrast to the heavy heterosexual masculinity of the early 2000’s, androgynous male fashion is coming back into style. Coming off of the backs of black, queer American men such as the dress displayed at the end of the LACMA’s collection Reigning men, worn by black, gay, androgynous champion and icon Billy Porter to a 2019 red carpet event, who has worn many dresses to events before and since. That same exhibition also highlights how feminine fashions have even been adopted by white cishet men such as Harry Styles on the cover of Vouge, which at the time kicked up a huge media frenzy. Him being an excellent contrast to Billy Porter, who dresses the way he does as a product of his pride in his identity, as Harry Styles, as an ex-boyband member, is someone happy to mold himself to fit whatever aesthetic is most marketable, even if to outsiders his choice is a perceived risk the amount of backing he received from his core audience is undeniable evidence in the shift on public opinions of masculinity that have been built by queer people for the past few decades.
But ultimately, as is often the case, he reaped all the benefits and cultural relevance from left leaning media built off of a history of androgyny built and fought for by queer black people while their efforts are quietly forgotten. While his iconic cover is an example of a shift in public opinion, attaching him to the head of the movement is wholly attributed to the wrong source.

i recommend the pink: history of color video, its very fun and interesting.
given more time and space i wouldve explored the neutralisation of mens bodies and fashion and the power this holds, the relationships race and sexuality play and butchness in non-men i think. my other 3 essays all included butch and stud women though so dont be sad. the rant also left no room for a conclusion but this was not an essay it was a short response, feel free to look up my lecturer whos name is included in my citations to see her cosplay which she advertised in every class she taught. also feel free to notice that she only cosplays japanese characters in traditional edo or earlier clothing. i think thats weird for no reason other than i do not like her

LTWT jdelf changeover playlist update
John Delf made the Louis Tomlinson Changeover Playlist public again. 28 songs have been removed.  7 songs have been added.
7 and 28! of course! not driving me insane at all! There are 97 total songs now.
Thanks to @bluewinnerangel for talking it through with me today and for the great resources like these and @walkinginsunflowers HSLOT playlist.
Of the 28 songs recently removed, 4 had been the exit song for a LTWT show. 4 are also on the HSLOT playlist. (7x4 = 28)
Tumblr media
The 7 songs added were all ones that had been on the list before.
They were removed from their original location and added at the end. 2 had been the first exit song played (Buenos Aires - Lego House, Bogota - Mr. Brightside).
Tumblr media
HSLOT Crossover
15 of the LT Changeover songs are on the HSLOT playlist, although I think that number could be inaccurate because we aren’t tracking it as closely.

Haii ish me leo, what's a terf? I'm sorry but I dunno much words
CW- transphobia mention
NOT LITTLE RELATED
Hi Leo! Terf stands for "trans - exclusionary radical feminists". They're a yucky group of (mostly) cis* women who believe both radfem* ideas and that trans people are just 'confused' somehow. Unfortunately, a lot of people still think being trans or gender nonconforming is a choice or mental illness. The only "choice" we have as trans people is whether or not we allow ourselves to be who we are or silently suffer with crawling skin and constant longing.
Most people who follow these ideas consider themselves feminists, but in reality still believe in the idea of a superior sex, and want to see a matriarchy instead of a patriarchy, or an afab*-dominated world. A famous example of a terf is Valerie Solanas, the author of the Scum Manifesto in the 1960s. She, along with many others, believed that amab* and afab people should basically switch stereotypical roles. As a radicalist, she spread the idea that amab's should be made slaves to afab's, and a lot of other hate towards all amab people including violent threats and even being known for shooting Andy Warhol (who did, we can all admit, deserved it- just not for the reason she did it, plus he survived so... c'mon how bad could it have been, she was an awful shot /j).
Most terfs have some tendency of hating amabs, but they ALL believe that trans people are invalid and/or 'wrong'. Even modern day, we have current terfs in the media- like the author of Harry Potter, she who shall not be named. She's been well known to make anti-trans remarks and yet still claim the cover of "feminism", claiming trans people have inherently evil intentions and need to be kept away from others for 'safety' reasons. She's not the only anti-trans 'feminist' today either. Unfortunately, there's many people out there who still think we're 'dangerous' or 'dirty' for being authentic.
As a member of the trans community, I can say- without a doubt- that no one wants to go through all the trouble of passing* just to come watch you use the public bathroom. No one. And if you're worried about that happening, why not introduce single stall bathrooms to provide both privacy and comfort for everyone, like the one in your own home. The only thing that matters in my pants is what I'm trying not to get on them /hj
Anyway, I'm going to just stop this here because there's a lot more I could say but that's not what this account is about. Everything on my dni list is designed to keep me personally happy and comfortable in my safe space. I can't control what other people do and don't interact with or believe in, but I can control my own online area. Not everything in my dni is something i consider bad, i just dont want to see it! (Terfs, however, are bad). Just don't interact with me. I don't need to hear if someone disagrees, just simply don't interact, block me or whatever you need to do, and move on. That's the great thing about the internet, if you have a different opinion you can just simply find a different account to follow.

Greek world - Parthenon, Athena, Aphaia, Apollo, Plutos
Parthenon: favorite vacation spot?
That I’ve ever been to. Hawaii. Hands down. I was 11 but it was amazing.
Athena: top 5 favorite books?
I liked the Harry Potter booked as a kid, chronicles of narnia, Percy Jackson, girl on the train and lord of the rings.
Aphaia: what were you like as a child?
A lot different than me as an adult. I was loud and outgoing and fun. I was friendly and popular and I think we’ll like. Smart and I liked school. Kind of a slacker but I did well. Honestly it all changed when I was forced to switch schools and couldn’t make friends in middle school. Then I got quiet and shy and anxious.
Apollo: top 5 favorite songs?
Finding you Kesha, Valerie Amy winehouse, I’ll listen to anything really. I usually just put my phone on shuffle and play whatever. Picking 5 is hard.
Plutos: best purchase you’ve ever made?
Idk maybe my car. Then paying it off. It’s been paid off 2 years and I have 5 more years of a covered bumper to bumper warranty. It’s a decent car with 71k miles so…I’m happy with it.
Thanks for the asks!

A Moment on the Training Field
Featuring: Valerie "Gorgon" (@lethal-justice), Ace, Lion, and Jaimie "Notch" (me) A/N: Just a short little drabble based on a conversation Ice and I had about Jaimie always getting shot lol.
--
"Why is everyone always fucking shooting me?" Jaime pops her head out from cover and takes a few unaimed shots in the direction of Silver Team, "I mean, I've been shot like 16 times during these exercises!"
"It's because you don't hide well, mate!" Valerie's voice carries across the field as Jaimie ducks down next to Håvard behind the concrete barrier.
"That is not true!"
"It kind of is, elskling," Håvard slides another clip into his rifle and Jaimie scoffs in response.
"You are all so full of it," she argues, and Håvard sighs in exasperation.
Valerie glances at Olivier, who grins and jerks his head toward the barrier where the couple bickers. The two of them creep to the next cover and the former pulls a flashbang grenade from her vest.
"I'm just saying, I get hit because I'm out there making moves while you guys hide!" Jaimie snarls as she reloads her rifle.
"The point is not to get hit at all!" Håvard snaps.
Jaimie swats at him and he swats back, the two of them too lost in the bickering to notice the metal sphere that rolls into their cover.
"Let's just get this-" Jaimie pauses and her eyes widen as they focus on it, "Is that a grenade?"
BANG
Their cover is bathed in an almost atomic brightness that Harry can see from the crow's nest.
Jaimie drops to the ground in agony, shielding her eyes as Håvard cries out and dramatically throws himself out from behind the barrier.
"Okay, okay," Jaimie squeezes her eyes shut and pinches the space between them with her thumb and forefinger, "Maybe you guys are right."
"Maybe?" Olivier stands over her with a wide grin painted on his smug face.
"I hate you," Jaimie reaches her hand up blindly and the GIGN operator helps her to her feet as Valerie prods Håvard with her boot until he rolls over and gets up on his hands and knees.
"The feeling is mutual."

how to make a wip playlist
@writingwithacutlass on instagram <3
source: me :)
hello and welcome back to my page! today’s post is exciting because i absolutely l o v e making playlists for my wip and characters. i know lots of you have playlists for your wip, but i’m sure many of you are wondering where to start, where to find songs that fit your wip’s vibes, etc. luckily for you, i’m here to help you with that :) let’s get on with the post!
characters
probably the first thing you want to brainstorm songs for is your characters. i prefer to make individual playlists for each of my main characters, but you can add these songs to your wip playlist as well. things to think about: their childhood, their personality, pivotal events in their life, their relationships, etc.
plot
the second thing you’ll want to find songs for is your wip’s plot. what songs would be playing during certain scenes in your wip if it was adapted into a movie? it can be helpful to think of your wip playlist as a soundtrack! for example, if your wip contains lots of battle scenes, artists like ruelle and valerie broussard have some very cool battlefield-type songs! if you’re writing a contemporary romance, find some fluff songs like cloud 9, or some angsty or sad breakup songs such as champagne problems or last kiss by taylor swift.
vibes
this is key to creating a perfect wip playlist! okay maybe this is just me since literally everything i do is based on ✨vibes✨ but you know what i mean. think movie soundtracks—the overall vibes of the song are just as important as the lyrics. is it ethereal or spooky? does it sound like a fairy could be playing this on a pink mushroom? does it make you feel like you’re standing on the battlefield with a sword in your hand? how does it make you feel?
where to find songs?
now you may be wondering, where on earth do i find songs that fit my wip ?? fear not, i’ve got you covered. i recommend using spotify because it gives you song suggestions to add to your playlist based on the songs you’ve already added to it! i haven’t used any music streaming app besides spotify so maybe there’s others that do this as well but yeah. you can also find playlists that other people have already made and choose songs from there! for example if you have a scene in which a character is running from the cops, you could search “running from cops” and a bunch of playlists with that title will come up, and you can listen to those and choose songs you think fit.
songs starter pack
and because i’m just that helpful, here are some artists whose songs might fit your wip based on its genre / vibes. and you simultaneously get to experience some of my superior music taste. you’re welcome <3
