Lunar Codex
I am privileged to share that mention of and images of my work have been included in the Lunar Codex.
The Lunar Codex is the passion project of physicist, entrepreneur, and storyteller Samuel Peralta, who alongside NASA’s Artemis Program has placed a record of contemporary creative works from “35,000 artists, writers, musicians, and filmmakers, representing 234 countries, territories, and Indigenous nations, in time capsules launching from Earth to the Moon and beyond.” *
Read more about the Lunar Codex here.
My work was included in two issues of magazines that have been gathered into the the Lunar Codex using digital and analog technology:

Face to Face
I am pleased to have a work of mine included in the juried exhibition, Face to Face, at the Huntington Arts Council’s gallery in Huntington, NY. This exhibition, juried by Jeremy Dennis, focuses on portraiture in all media with an emphasis on relationships and how we communicate.
About the Juror: Jeremy Dennis is a contemporary fine art photographer and an enrolled Tribal Member of the Shinnecock Indian Nation in Southampton, NY. He was born in 1990 and is based on the Shinnecock Reservation. Dennis’s work explores Indigenous identity, culture, and history, as well as environmentalism and the supernatural. One of his notable projects is “Ma’s House,” a residency program and exhibit space for BIPOC artists on the Shinnecock Reservation
The exhibition opens on Tuesday, February 13th, 2024 and closes on Sunday, March 17th. The Reception will be held on Friday, March 1st.

Mysteries of Christmas
For 2023, I was commissioned by Martin Luther College (New Ulm, MN) to create illustrations for their annual Advent season devotional publication. I created these “digital paintings” to picture how I saw concepts about the “mysteries” of Christmas.
Not only am I a painter working in oils, gouache, and acrylic, I also work in graphic design. This commission gave me a chance to strengthen my “digital painting” … and hand-drawing skills.

Recumbent: The Art of Lying
I am delighted to share that a very recent work of mine has been curated into Equity Gallery’s “Recumbent: The Art of Lying” exhibition in New York, on view September 8th— October 2nd, 2021.
There is an Outdoors Opening Reception: Thursday, September 9th, 6 — 8 PM at 245 Broome St., NYC*
New York Artists Equity Association is pleased to present their latest juried group exhibition, “Recumbent: The Art of Lying.” The show, juried by the founder of Two Coats of Paint, Sharon Butler, artist Judy Glantzman, and figurative artist and art writer Daniel Maidman. Over 20 artworks focus on the reclining body, one of the most popular and ubiquitous figurative positions in art history. This visual motif is firmly embedded within both Western and Eastern traditions, conjuring up a wealth of associations, which can vary greatly in meaning depending on time, place, and context.
Each of the artworks selected for this exhibition successfully re-invents and re-evaluates the trope of the reclining figure. The featured artworks explore a range of themes, including pleasure and sensuality, such as Tiantian Ma’s “Jackie With My Painting.” Others display unflinching, subversive examinations of culturally ingrained iconography originating from religion, mythology, and antiquity such as Manju Shandler’s “Medusa Column.” Also on exhibit are contemporary recontextualizations and reinventions of the classic pose, as seen in Rachael Warner’s “The Hostess,” and much more. Brought together by the unifying theme of the body in repose, the artworks in “Recumbent: The Art of Lying” create a comprehensive survey to how a single gesture is able to encompass and convey a complex and nuanced collection of cultural ideas and attitudes.
Exhibiting Artists: Cecilia André, Alaiyo Bradshaw, Petey Brown, Julia Campisi, Charis J. Carmichael Braun, Jenny Carpenter, Jeanne Ciravolo, Srishti Dass, Carol Diamond, Camilla Fallon, Patrice Lorenz, Tiantian Ma, Juliet Martin, Nina Meledandri, Alison Mustokoff, David Reisman, Cynthia Reynolds, Manju Shandler, Sylvia Vander Sluis, Rachael Warner, Brenda Zlamany
Juried by: Sharon Butler, Judy Glantzman, Daniel Maidman
*In the interest of safeguarding our community members, Equity Gallery manages access to its space and invites visitors to follow CDC and NY State Guidelines. To that end Equity Gallery is hosting an opening reception in their courtyard space; RSVP via Eventbrite to attend!

Updated my website (link in bio!) with all the images for the Artists Off Grid exhibition - check out "landslides" on the front page. These landscpes both fit within and expand my usual work, the figure IN the landscape. I have so many images in storage, waiting, holding their breath - just not enough life in this time to cover it all. But now that the show is packed and transported to the gallery, I have more space in my studio to revitalize into the next project. #asharokenartist #nudeinthelandscape #nudeinnature

Here's a better example of the msntel's 1️⃣ prepped paintings in pre-shipping placement along with the 2️⃣ perpetually- unresolved portrait of the local painter and woodworker (hence the saw blade seen in my last post). #dayinthelife #artistlyfe #workingcouples #masterandmuse
