This bloodbath has gone on for far too long. At the start of this aggression, the school year had barely just started. The academic year ends in just a month. Everyone, from first graders to university seniors, have lost an entire year at least. I say at least considering even if there is a ceasefire today, Israel had destroyed literally all universities in Gaza and damaged over 400 schools. Lest we forget also Israel's deliberate targeting of university professors and academics.
You absolutely cannot mistake the intent behind all of this.

i think there is a real issue with a lack of third spaces and all that, i really do. i think a lot of things in society are built to isolate us.
but on the flipside, more than ever... ways to circumvent that exist?
go to your local library and see what events have been posted. check your town website and see if they have a calendar of events.
join a virtual, over zoom book club
join a multiple video game and get on voice chat... this is the most high risk, high reward option but it IS an option
join a smaller forum or subreddit for a niche interest
get a hobby, google local groups of said hobby
see if there are local, casual sports leagues
join a dance class a pottery class a poetry class...
look up a local community college and see if you can sit on on some of the lectures, talk to the professor after class... hang around campus and see if there are any peers you'd want to connect with
go to concerts, get in line early and chat with the people around you
when you go to the store, compliment the cashier's glasses or button or whatever and have a nice, small moment of fleeting connection
cause like.... will any of this necessarily turn into lifelong friendships? it's possible you can do all of this and only end up with a couple of lukewarm conversations that don't turn into anything other than exchanging insta handles and liking each other's stories once a year
but... that's still human connection? that's still a chance for something more every single time you try? that's still filling your day with moments that could've been lonely but instead weren't
but you have to choose to do that
sometimes... personal problems... are things only you can fix and you have to try fixing them
even the best of friends can't sense from their own home when you're feeling a bit down... you have to reach out. you have to let people know.
if you don't have friends, sitting around in your house won't make you friends. at least not without joining a virtual space geared around connecting with people
like... 'men are lonely' okay well are men trying to foster real friendships? are there any barriers to men forming friendships? 'oh but men are taught to repress themselves,' okay well a. who the fuck isn't and b. well then do the work to be less repressed. no one else can do that for you
