ok so im thinking about. chiluc. i- chiluc shippers come in close. i love you come in close. we can all be honest with ourselves here. there will never be anything close to chiluc content ingame.
and so for many years i feel chiluc has been relegated to aus or established relationship nobody knows how they got together. where its like. childe is not part of the orginization that killed diluc's father. or maybe he was but it wasn't quite as bad. which dont get me wrong aus are great.
HOWEVER. i have been thinking. and here is how (currently) canon compliant chiluc can STILL WIN.
ok so we know that in canon mondstadt is like. equally as politically powerful as shneznaya is right. so it would probably benefit them if they had you know. good ties to each other. like linked powerhouses in both nations. so. kind of like an arranged marriage fic......
WAIT!! because I hear you you're saying like ohhh they would never agree to that listen to me. Childe would do anything for his tsaritsa for the good of shneznaya for the good of his family ok. he's the most disposible of the harbingers they might as well marry him off. and Diluc well. you see. at first he is DEFINITELY like no way in one million billon years go fuck yourselves. and then he actually meets childe and while hes like. repressing the urge to start strangling hes like wait. this guy is actually stupid.
diluc says. i may hate the knights but you know who i hate slightly more. the fatui. and i love mondstadt. surely the husband of this dumbass would be like. getting shneznayan state secrets revealed to him all the time. i could be a really good spy and i would know if the fatui are about to attack mondstadt.
and he agrees and hes like. so prepared to be absolutely miserable he's being sooo self-sacrifing right now. hes like jean do you see me being self-sacrificing. and jean says yeah for sure. whatever. thanks.
but then..... childe is like. he's doing that thing he does with the traveller where he's like "im doing so great!! i love that there's a darkness growing within me it's so cool and epic!!! anyway do you want to hear about how i don't think i have an identity for myself??"
diluc says. wait hold on a second. what the fuck. this guy is messed up. this is the part where if this was a modern au he would be like. go to therapy stop talking to me about it. but unfortunately i dont think therapy exists in the world of teyvat. otherwise why would everyone be Like That.
Anyway Diluc is realizing while pretending he's having a really nice time getting to know childe he's actually?? having a really nice time getting to know childe???? wtf?? even if the things he says ARE messed up sometimes its ok because childe also has that softness to him
on childe's side of the story everything is literally so great he doesn't know. hes like wow im so happy that i get to serve the tsaritsa and have a cool husband who will spar me and even sometimes almost win!! I'm so excited to introduce him to my family
chiluc family dinner. on childe's side its his whole family of like. eight other people. diluc invites nobody and when childe asks him about it diluc has a Moment of Weakness and he admits that he doesn't really talk to his family anymore and like. childe is like well thats ok. because youll be part of my family and they liked you a lot
varied chiluc introductory fluff... they're getting to know each other they're starting to have like. falling in love a little bit moments. childe trying to teach diluc how to use a bow and like standing behind him with his arms fiixng his arrow position or something like that. its cute. childe at this point is like. fully in love he can see their future together and everything.
BUT THEN!!! ok so diluc has been sending semiregular letters to mondstadt right. and childe's fellow harbingers are like. hey childe you're checking his mail right. and childe goes no thats private why would i do that. and childe isn't paranoid but he is. very very curious. he checks the mail.
and you know the knights and diluc worked out like. a secret code before he left for shneznaya. but childe can kind of tell something is up and he sends it to like. idk pulcinella or pantalone or someone and they're like oh yeah dude this is a secret message.
and childe confronts diluc about it he goes hey!!! WHAT THE FUCK!! and diluc breaks childe's heart because like. he's cornered and he's like yeah its all true and i. well. um. but like he can't bring himself to say that he's not sorry because he is. he's learned about how lonely childe actually is and they've been bonding over that. and he feels bad because he knows he was the only person childe like. trusted on a human level.
so he takes it all back and says he'll cut communications because at this point. hes seen that childe is an absolute killer and he's very frankly. a little bit scared for his life. and childe forgives him but he's on thin ice.
at this point. childe goes freak mode. because see after he was told that the letters were encoded, he told his fellow harbingers that he was going to. you know. kill diluc. so he goes all proper beauty and the beast you can't leave our house. and diluc thinks its because he's a control freak and not because he's trying to stop anyone from seeing diluc. childe is trying to keep up the illusion that diluc is dead.
and diluc says you cant keep me locked in here forever. childe says. sorry dude. but its clear that diluc is absolutely miserable and childe is actually. he really is sorry about it. and diluc can tell he's sorry and so he's picking up on that it maybe isnt entirely childe's fault that he's trapped here. so he's not mad but he's defintely miserable. they're miserable together.
but hey. guess what. diluc's messages have stopped coming to the knights. so jean says kaeya. you have to send a letter over asking when the actual wedding party is. and also asking if diluc is like. good. youre his brother it makes sense.
kaeya sends the letter. childe goes. oh um. shit. wait hey can we just get you back to mondstadt somehow?? and diluc says PLEASE. so they have to. sneak out of the country (difficult) (the wedding was public news so people keep asking about it) (pulcinella runs most of the trains so it's kind of hard to buy diluc a ticket without him knowing). and they end up basically having to escape on foot going from town to town out of shneznaya and. here i just kind of assume that shneznaya is directly north of mondstadt so down into mondstadt.
and this whole process does it for diluc. he's like man. youre risking it all. for me. and childe says yes that is what i do :). and they end up at the dawn winery just kind of. talking. and diluc realizes that he is in fact in love with childe. like he's been trying to avoid it but it's unavoidable now and he says hey childe. can we say that the letter thing was kind of a big misunderstanding. wouldn't it be best if idk.
we got married. you know for the good of our nations. and childe says YIPEE!! HOORAY!!! he's like yeah.... for the good of our nations for sure
chiluc wedding party. theyre sillies <3
and that is how a theoretically canon compliant chiluc could still win

Big, Giant List of Genshin Ships
Tumblr media
(From https://transxiao.tumblr.com/post/680027899686961152/an-updated-ship-chart-template-to-include-the-new)
The following is an approximate textual explanation of this shipping chart picture. As I gain more ships, I’ll probably update the text, but not the picture, since it’s pretty annoying and difficult to edit the picture on my phone.
(Note: I believe that the traveler is many, many years old, some kind of being a bit like the gods or Adepti of Teyvat. So ships involving them are not ships with minors.)
(2nd Note: I don’t care about who tops or bottoms at all for the most part. The order I list the characters in does not reflect that.)
Favourites!!
Zhongli/Venti: I really like the Archons in Genshin, and wish there was more of them being god-like. Too often when there are ships with either Zhongli or Venti, people don’t really account for the fact that they’re gods, and thousands of years old. But with these two together, you have to acknowledge their long history and experience, some of the only ones left in the world who can share that.
Diluc/Venti: I didn’t ship this until I read a couple fantastic fanfics that turned them into an OTP for me. I only really like it if Venti is more Barbatos-like, though, and Diluc’s love ends up being tinged with worship. It’s probably not the most healthy ship dynamic, but I like it a lot. (Fic link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/30046389/chapters/73989867)
Scaramouche/Mona: AKA The Battle of the Big Hats! Scara saying the stars are a lie, Mona’s whole thing is stars! They’re clearly made for each other. I know they’ve barely interacted, but they’d be so fun. Also they’re both purple! See, made for each other!
Zhongli/Azhdaha: So sad. But it was so cool to do Zhongli’s story quest and see him actually interact with someone he cares about. And the way Azhdaha spoke to and about Morax was so loving. (I don’t think it was meant romantically in the game, but I don’t care.)
Xingqiu/Chongyun: Just super cute, and I love the fan art of them.
Love!!
Xiao/Venti: This is just on the edge between Love and Favourite. I think mostly it got bumped down to Love because, although I multi ship, I can only hyper focus on so many ships for one character at one time. And I’m quite focused on Venti with either Zhongli or Diluc right now. But the few small mentions of these two in cannon are so great, and their characters are so opposite and complementary.
Itto/Sara: This might change when I finally get to Itto’s story quest, but I’m really loving the himbo/hardass combo here. A video I watched once compared them to April/Andy from Parks and Rec, and April/Andy are an all time favourite couple for me.
Razor/Bennett: So cute!! And Razor could deal with Bennett’s luck issues, I think, better than most people. (However, I haven’t played Bennett’s hangout yet, so who knows how my view of this could change after knowing his character better.)
Scaramouche/Childe: They’d be toxic as hell, but super fun.
Itto/Gorou: I don’t even know, it’s just super cute. I think I’d like Itto in almost any romantic relationship, he’s so funny. And this particular ship with him has that good old Shakespearean gender confusion, which is fun.
Like!!
Kazuha/Kazuha’s Friend: So sad, but they looked good together.
Dainsleif/Traveler: We’ll see how I feel about this when I finally get to the Chasm, or with Dainslef’s future developments. But this is one of my favourite Traveler ships so far. Also Dainsleif/Abyss Prince or Princess. (I’m inclined to like Dain better with Abyss Lumine and with Traveler Aether.)
Albedo/Kaeya: I can definitely see the appeal, especially with little crumbs dropped in cannon. (I liked that Klee said Albedo likes drawing Kaeya in the most recent update!) They have such different personalities, but both have many secrets, and the possibly Khaenri'ah connection.
Albedo/Aether: Albedo just seems very subtly flirty sometimes. Also his English voice is very sexy.
Dilu/Aether: I’m not even totally sure why I like this one. I think I read a fanfic where there was top notch pining for Aether on Diluc’s part, and I was sold.
Amber/Eula: Cute! I wouldn’t ship Amber with most people, but Eula would actually make it an interesting pairing for me.
Jean/Lisa: Similar to Amber, I don’t love Jean and wouldn’t ship her with most people. But being with Lisa makes her a bit more interesting. I was quite surprised when I hear Lisa’s Good Morning voice line, and it made me actually consider them as a ship.
Kaeya/Sucrose: No idea how I came across this rarepair. It reminds me a bit of Sylvain/Mercedes from Fire Emblem: 3 Houses, where the flirty one gets with the sweet one (who has a surprising backbone). I think Kaeya might start flirting with her as a matter of course, because he flirts with everybody. And then to his utter shock, realize he’s actually fallen for her.
Xiao/Zhongli: I mostly like this in the context of a Xiao/Zhongli/Venti poly relationship. The power dynamics are kinda messed up here, but it’s quite interesting and I like it.
Xinyan/Yun Jin: Basically I saw some art from the lantern festival and it looked so cute.
Thoma/Ayaka: I actually quite like the idea of a poly ship between Thoma and Ayaka and Ayato (no romance between the siblings though, just the two of them sharing Thoma).
Thoma/Ayato: See above. I feel similarly about Thoma/Ayaka and Thoma/Ayato, but if it isn’t a poly ship, I’d probably prefer Ayato with Thoma over Ayaka (but we’ll see after I’ve done Ayato’s story quest...).
Ayato/Yoimiya: This wasn’t on my radar (especially since it’s a rarepair) until I watched this video where someone unfamiliar with Genshin ships people based on aesthetic. (https://youtu.be/-8wCIipTrUU) This was one pair they chose, and I really liked the idea of it.
Baal/Yae Miko: Not one of my top liked ships, but I do like it. I think I need to do more story quests to have a firm opinion, though.
Gorou/Kazuha: He was so happy to see him when he showed up in that cut scene! (I wish they’d put in a tail wag. What’s the point of having a cool tail if it doesn’t show your emotions at embarrassing times?)
Neutral
Kaeya/Diluc: I see the appeal. They have history and a complex relationship. I’m not against people shipping them because it’s not really clear if they’re brothers or not. (Even if they were brothers, I’m not gonna stop people shipping incest, though I never would myself.)
Ningguang/Beidou: This one seems pretty close to cannon but, I dunno, just don’t have feelings on it.
Hate (sort of...)
Note: I don’t actually hate these. Technically, they’re probably neutral, but I wanted a category for ships that bother me for one reason or another. And no judgement on anyone who ships these. I see why you’d like them—really!
Zhongli/Childe: This would have gone into Neutral or maaaaybe even Like back at the beginning of my Genshin Fandom. But I became a bit annoyed at just how popular this ship is, since I much prefer Zhongli with different people. It can be hard to find good Zhongli stuff that isn’t Zhongli/Childe.
Diluc/Jean: I dunno, just seems too obvious, maybe. And Jean isn’t the most interesting character for me, and I’d prefer Diluc with someone more interesting.
Albedo/Sucrose: Feels a bit similar to Diluc/Jean. Somehow just feels kinda boring. (Although again, I can see why people would like it! It’s just my personal feelings here, not what I think objectively about the ship.) I’d much prefer either of these two with Kaeya, especially Sucrose. I suspect I would like this a bit better if I hadn’t missed the event with Albedo, but oh well.
Family!!
Zhongli/Hu Tao: I feel like there will be some reveals about Hu Tao in the future, so maybe this one will change and I won’t want a familial relationship for them anymore. But one of the many things I wish the game had more of was these two interacting, Hu Tao being something like an annoying niece who is somehow also his boss.
Zhongli/Xiao: I mentioned above that I like the idea of a Zhongli/Xiao/Venti poly ship. But otherwise I like the Dad Zhongli idea with Xiao much better.
Friends!!
Kaeya/Rosario: I headcannon them as drinking buddies and probably fuckbuddies, too. No romance in the mix though, pure friends with benefits.
Beidou/Kazuha: I see the appeal of a romantic ship here, especially with Beidou pegging, but I like the friendship version just a bit more. (I see Kazuha as a short adult.)
Xingqiu/Xiangling: I like these two and Chongyun as good friends. Xiangling ends up being a bit of a third wheel, but she doesn’t mind cause she’s pretty focused on her primary passion of cooking. But I like the idea that she notices that something’s up between her two best friends, and maybe hijinks or teasing ensues.
Chongyun/Xiangling: See above.
Xiao/Ganyu: I read this story once where they ended up being surprisingly good platonic friends, and I ended up quite liking that idea.

I had an idea what if the boys help the reader through a nightmare? Would it be possible for this to be Childe, Albedo, Xiao, and Diluc?
^ I don’t know why this was such a challenge for me - listen - I want you to know I tried so hard to write a lullaby and gave up - so maybe in the future - but I’ve been bested.
Warning -> *possible trigger warning (panic attack) panicked reader, difficult breathing, heavy chest, fear // COMFORT*
Character X GN Reader | Anthology
Includes: Childe, Albedo, Xiao, Diluc
Childe
He’d be right there, his arms wrapped around you tightly, holding you
In his arms, held close to him, he’d remind you that you weren’t alone and that he was there with you
He’d listen and would help you breathe through your fear - he knows very well about the troubles of nightmares, they haunt his mind too
“CHILDE?!” You lurch awake, the sheets flying away from you. There was a tightness in your chest that enhanced your fear, and when you tried to breathe through clenched lungs all that came out was a horrid rasp.
Childe was awake in an instant, his hand gripping your shoulder and as you looked at him you could see his face twisted with concern. You placed a hand over your chest and lifted the other to rest against Childe’s shoulder, and through panicked breaths, you tried to find solid ground.
“It’s okay. It’s okay, look at me.” He begs, his eyes troubled by what they saw. When you look at him, peer into his beautiful blue eyes an image flashes in your mind. The violent, graphic image that woke you from your sleep and stole your peace. “It was just a dream.”
“It felt real.” You beat your hand which was now balled into a fist against your chest and shake your head. “It felt so real …” the words catch in your throat and get lodged in the dry pit of your despair.
“Come here.” He wraps his arms around you and holds you against his chest. His body is warm, his arms comforting and strong, a stark difference to the images that had filled your mind. There Childe was weak, bloodied, his body unmoving and so far out of your reach. You watched the life escape from his eyes, his smile fade, and the memory made you shiver.
Childe lifted you from where you sat on the bed and pulled you into the space between his legs. He adjusted the two of you until his back was against the headboard and you were nestled comfortably against him, your back against his chest, his arms wrapped around you, legs perched on either side.
He rested his head against the edge of yours and pulled the sheets up to cover the both of you. “When my siblings and I used to have nightmares, my mother would sing us a song.”
You turned your head toward his neck and looked out the window, the stars bright in the sky, “That sounds lovely.”
“Hah, I’m not the best singer, but I think I still remember it.” He cleared his throat and began to recite the words. His voice was quiet and a bit shaky as he sang the first few lines, but as he went on he became more comfortable.
As you laid in his arms and listened to the steady words spilling from Childe’s mouth, you let your mind drift to a place of comfort, and soon, the sound of his voice lulled you to sleep.
Albedo
He’s very well versed in most things, and he read a book once about nightmares and panic attacks, he’d know how to help support you
Albedo is kind and thoughtful, he cares about the wellbeing of others, even if he doesn’t outwardly express that, and watching you fall into distress is something he can hardly take
when it comes to you, nothing else matters
You sat on the edge of the bed, your leg bouncing on the ball of your foot, arms crossed around you as you tried to squeeze your chest tightly.
The images clouding your mind sent shivers through your body and made you feel cold, even as the warm air drifted in through the window. The bed creaked and you froze.
“Y/N?” Albedo’s voice drifted toward you and you heard him shift in the bed.
“I’m sorry. Did I wake you?” You do your best to hide the tremor in your throat.
“It’s okay ... you’re shaking ...” He’s moved closer to you and you feel his hand touch your arm, the sensation makes you jump. “y/n …?”
“I’m okay … I’m sorry ... “ Your heart begins to pound in your chest and the tears are pooling at the edge of your eyes. You shake your head and try to keep them back, but it’s starting to become a challenge. The bed dips next to you and out of the corner of your eye you see Albedo’s hand.
“Was it another nightmare?” You nod and look at him sheepishly, your hands hidden in the sheets and legs bouncing. “Walk me through it.”
“We don’t need to. This is the first night you’ve gotten to sleep in days .. you should ..”
“Hold on.” He brushes the tears from your cheeks, pushing the sheets out of the way to grab your hand. “Do you think I’ll be able to sleep if you're suffering?”
“ … no.”
 “Listen, you don’t have to tell me about it if you don’t want to, we can just sit here if you’d like.” He slid back against the headboard and gently pulled onto your arms to follow him. “Come here.”
He positioned you on his chest and placed your head over his heart.
“Listen to the sound of my heartbeat. Just focus on that.” He stroked your hair and drew circles on your skin.
“It was terrible …” You finally say after some time.
“I’m here to listen …”
Xiao
He wouldn’t really know what to do, to be honest, the whole thing would be such a shock for him and he’d revert back to the quickest thing he could think of
He’d let you talk about it and may even do some of the things the other yaksha’s would do; hum a melody that is lost to the sands of time, perform a simple ritual to banish the darkness, hold you tightly to let you know this path wasn’t one you had to walk alone
You screamed, your arms flying out in front of you and, as they collided with what felt like fingers, you tried to push them away. You gasped and took in as much air as you could, your wrists were captured and when you turned to look at them you found Xiao.
“X-Xiao?” You exhaled, your throat dry and heart pounding in your chest like a hammer, you wondered if it were possible to bruise a bone by how painful it was.
“You were gasping in your sleep.” He reached to move the hair clinging to your forehead, resting the back of his hand against the sticky skin. You shivered and pulled the blankets closer to your body.
“I was having a terrible dream. I was running in the darkness, it felt like something was constantly at my back, and then …” You swallowed, the action painful because of your dry mouth. “Then I was underwater and … I … it felt so real. I couldn’t breathe.”
“Hmm. Well, you are awake now, can you breathe easily?” He shifted closer to you and forced you to straighten your spine so your lungs could work easier. His hand resting against your back as you took in a few deep breaths, they were shaky but became less so as you focused on them.
“I think I’m okay now.” You took in another deep breath and as you let it out your rattled nerves began to ease.
“Nightmares are pretty common for me.” You looked at him and his eyes seemed sad, even in the shadow of the night they were incredibly easy to see.
“What do you do?” The news of his nightmares wasn’t all too shocking, the trauma of his past was something hard for him to discuss, but he had told you the story once.
“When Indarias still walked this plane, they taught us a way to purge ourselves of the miasma which empowered the nightmares. I can teach it to you.” You nodded your head and he returned the acknowledgment.
Quickly, skillfully, he set up incense on your bedside table. He instructed you to sit with your legs crossed and face him.
“Close your eyes, I’ll tell you what to do.” He explained as he settled into place in front of you. You weren’t sure what to expect, but as your eyes closed and the feeling of darkness came back you shivered. “You are safe, I am right in front of you.”
You nod and take in a breath as he starts to walk you through the movements.
He explains the process slowly, starting only when you are ready, and as he walks you through the process the fear of the dark starts to fade, and your body relaxes. After completing the movements with your hands, you open your eyes and look at him. He’s smiling, the shine of the moon highlighting the side of his face in a cool glow.
“How do you feel?” He asks you, his voice soft and gentle.
“Better.”
“Good, let’s do it again.”
Diluc
Diluc would be so afraid, afraid of what would be plaguing you, and afraid his touch might make it worse
His hands reach out to you, extended to support and hold you but he’d pull them back before they connect - his fear at not being enough, his worry of making it worse pulling at the back of his mind
He doesn’t want to be the reason you are more stressed/anxious - he just wants to keep you safe and take away your pain
You woke up in a panic, your skin damp from sweat, hair clinging to your head, heart racing.
Images of your nightmare flashed in your head and each time you closed your eyes they came flooding back, invading. Through labored breaths, you tried to calm down but the pressure in your lungs made it hard and instead you ended up wheezing, your voice cracking from the pain.
Diluc was wide awake. He had felt you sit up suddenly and was staring at you as you shook. His arms extended but his hands never reach you.
“Hey …” his voice was quiet and concerned, he sounded unlike his usual calm, instead there was stress in his throat.
You tried to speak, and reassure him it was okay, that you were okay, but the words wouldn’t come out, instead, you began to cry. The hot tears dropping onto the mattress and heating your cheeks. You shook your head and desperately wanted to cover your eyes, but the images were still there every time you blinked.
A hand stroked your face, when you looked and saw Diluc inspecting you with fearful eyes you reached up to take his hand and broke.
In an instant, he was holding you, his strong embrace surrounding you. His hand at the back of your head, pulling you in, and his other arm wrapped protectively around you. You buried your face into his chest and while you did your best to relax, you couldn’t stop your body from shaking.
“I’m here. I’m right here.” He whispered into your hair, leaving soft, gentle kisses in the spots where his voice warmed your skin.
“I … it was awful.” You choke out, your tone pressed as if your throat was being squeezed.
“Shh, It was a dream. I’ve got you. You’re safe.” He tightened his grip and the pressure felt so reassuring, you wrapped your arms around him and rested your hands on his back, under his hair.
“You were gone. I couldn’t … there was nothing …” The words spilled out and the memory of your nightmare rose to the surface. It felt so real, so possible almost as if it was a warning. He pulled away from you and the absence of him was terrible. “I don’t know what I would do if I lost you … I won’t be able … I can’t.”
He pressed his head against yours, the warmth of his body seeping into your overactive imagination. “It was a dream, I’m here now, I’ll always be here.
“Promise?”
“I promise.”

ataraxia. - ch. 4 [ diluc x reader ]
Tumblr media
ch. 4 - adjustment pairing: diluc x gn!reader warnings: mention of injuries, mentions of murder, mentions of familial passing. not beta read. words: ~2.2k words fic masterlist [ prev ] - [ next ]
chapter summary: you're not used to company and diluc is awkward. but hey, things are beginning to become normal, right?
a/n: mmm. slow burn. begrudging allies. not much happens in this chapter, but i promise things will speed up soon. :)
Tumblr media
for the four days diluc is bedridden, two of which he is able to actually walk around miniscule amounts, the rocking chair in the guest room becomes your dining chair and your lap serves as your dinner table. sure, it's slightly messy, but even diluc, who you can tell likely isn't the one for conversation normally, enjoys your company. despite the walls he puts up, he is still able to hold a conversation.
however, for all the information you reveal about yourself, you learn little about diluc. when you talk about your farm, he's more knowledgeable than the average townsperson, which leads you to believe he grew up near agriculture. however, his formal method of speaking steers you away from such conclusions, unable to pinpoint where exactly the overlap between a farming background and a background of what seems to be an elite overlap.
you are mostly the one talking to him. it doesn't take a genius to realize that he isn't a fan of small talk and would rather just sit in silence, but you wish to know exactly who is taking up the spare bedroom in your house. like a hardboiled egg, diluc fails to crack upon the impact of your words. instead, he expertly maneuvers his way out of any question you might throw at him.
if only he could have maneuvered his way out of the fatui, you think bitterly, irritated with the entire situation at hand. if diluc hadn't gotten himself injured, then you wouldn't be the one dealing with a guilty conscience if you threw him out. curse your parents for instilling basic human morals in you.
however, apart from dropping off books, accompanying him to the bathroom (where you wait outside respectfully, of course), and serving him breakfast and lunch, you don't interact with diluc very often. you find that he's easy to ignore.
once he starts walking, of course, that's a different story. the redhead is tall and his hair is a brilliant vermillion. it sticks out against the soft green grasses like a sore thumb and shines in the light. even in the comfort of your cottage, it stands out against the dull decor, fading paint, and worn furniture. diluc's crutches click against the floor with each step he takes and his presence is no longer quiet.
he's the type to always stay moving, even if his body says otherwise.
once he's comfortable with walking again, diluc interrupts you as you start making dinner. despite sharing the same house, the two of you scarcely speak with nor acknowledge each other out of meal times, so the sudden noise of his voice causes you to jolt in shock.
"may i help you cook?" diluc asks. after you get over your initial scare, you realize that his words didn't sound like much of a question. the words are more of a formality than anything and you realize that he will not let this go until you say yes. which, of course, you don't, because you're not allowed to let some stranger come into your house and order you around, even if it would ease your workload.
"go sit back down," you urge and you hear diluc sigh as he realizes that you aren't going to budge either. despite your order, he lingers, the corners of his lips twitching with annoyance. of course he's not going to budge either, you think. asshole.
so, in response to his stubbornness, you decide to throw it back in his face.
"are you saying my cooking is bad?" you challenge and diluc's eyes widen as his uninjured foot shifts backwards slightly. despite his balancing act on crutches, diluc still manages to take a step back at your challenging tone.
"what? no. i'm not," diluc backtracks his words and you feel slightly bad at the way he sounds on edge, but you weren't about to have this borderline stranger interrupt your cooking when he needed to rest.
"then go sit down." you say and diluc, surprisingly, folds and walks over to the dining table where he once lay just a few days ago. you glance over as he sits down in a chair and he stares at you, folding his arms over his chest and leaning back in the chair. you pause your cooking and stare back. unlike usual, diluc is the one to break the silence.
"why did you save me?" diluc's question is abrupt. you swirl the wooden spoon in the pot in front of you while attempting to think of an answer.
"dead bodies are a pain to deal with," you respond as you take the spoon out of the dish and tap it on the side to remove any excess liquid. diluc lets out a soft huff of amusement at your words, yet that fails to ease the current resentment you hold towards him.
"is that all?" diluc asks. you look over at him once more with raised eyebrows as you drop the spoon into the small pile of the day's dirty dishes.
"do you not believe me?" you say, yet your voice lacks the embittered tone from earlier. you can't blame diluc if he doesn't. you barely believe anything he says to begin with.
"i am just curious as to your answer," diluc says. you can tell it pains him to watch you prepare dinner without any assistance from him whatsoever, yet he can leave his heroics for another time.
if you were being honest, you didn't quite know the answer to his question yourself. sure, you could pull a half-baked lie out of your ass about how you could 'never let someone suffer' if you saw them in the condition he had been in. it would be honorable to have such notions, but you had never been the type to play hero. after life had handed you such an awful fate, you could take what semblance of normalcy you could get.
and yet, you had thrown it all away on a rainy day to save a man you had never interacted with before. you had thrown away your safety. if the fatui were to find the two of you, your throat would be slashed and your body would never be found. you would die not the death of a hero, but the death of a fool.
you look back down at the pot of food in front of you, watching as the soup boils and bubbles within. why had you saved diluc? on that fateful stormy day, why had your roughened heart softened to let in a man who seemed to be more trouble than he was worth? you weren't honorable. you would never be. you couldn't be.
the timer you had set earlier, mechanically ticking away next to the heated pot, dings, signaling the dish's completion. it snaps you out of your thoughts and you blink as you remember where you are. wordlessly, you extinguish the fire that fuels the stove and take a step back, allowing the soup to cool.
"when i find the answer," you say slowly, voice far softer. "i'll be sure to let you know."
---
the air has a light breeze to it, making the typical morning chill just a bit fiercer than usual. you slip on a coat for that reason and depart your bedroom. you glance at the closed door to the spare room. by now, it was no longer an extra bedroom. rather, diluc would be its sole occupier for the next several months.
today marks ten days since diluc made his rather unceremonious arrival to your doorstep. it also marks the first day since the two of you came to an agreement about diluc's living situation for the foreseeable future. you had agreed, like a damned fool, to let him stay for the next several months. worst of all, you had offered.
the conversation had been short. the redhead had offered to pay rent. you declined. the redhead then insisted on paying rent. you declined once more, albeit more harshly. the two of you came to a begrudging agreement. you wanted nothing in return, while diluc wanted to reward your hospitality. therefore, you two had decided that diluc would pay for groceries
you provided him with the ideal hiding place. a worn down little farm was no fit for a man of his status. you still weren't sure who he was, but claymore wielders weren't exactly those born into unaffluent conditions. it was a peculiar choice of weapon, therefore typically only used by those who could afford both the training and the heaping chunks of metal that claymores required.
plus, his manners were impeccable, aside from his insistence on trying to repay his weird debt to you or whatever he told himself. to you, diluc owed you nothing. as long as you made it out of this situation alive, you wouldn't care. and if you didn't live? who cares? you would be dead.
it's not like there was anyone to cry over the death of the little isolated farmer in the fields of fontaine.
you snap out of your daze as diluc's door creeps open. he wears the only spare outfit you had that would fit him. an old, blank white shirt. he wears the pants he arrived in, albeit with the leg cropped severely on one side to accommodate for his cast that now traverses the entire expanse of his leg.
it's rather ugly, if you say so yourself.
"i'll pick you up clothes the next time i head to the market," you blurt and diluc stares at you, still half-asleep and struggling to comprehend your words.
"good morning to you too," he responds, completely unenthused. you stare unapologetically at him. you probably should have greeted him, yet it's too late to backtrack.
"there's food in the pantry," you tell him, before walking to the hall closet and taking out your worn work boots. "i will be off the premises today. if somebody finds you, you're the only one that lives here. got it?"
diluc nods and you walk down the hall, entering the kitchen once more. you sit down at the dining table, perched sideways on one of its chairs and shimmy on your shoes. diluc follows after you and hovers, watching from the hallway entrance as you get ready to leave.
diluc parts his lips as if he wants to say something, yet can't figure out the words. you let out a sigh as you decide to indulge him, even though you don't really care about whatever he has to say to you. if it was important, he would say it.
"what?" you ask, standing up and smoothing out the fabric of your pants.
"could i request something additional from the grocery?" diluc asks and you look at him blankly.
"you're the one paying for the groceries," you remind him. "so, uh, yeah."
diluc glances away from you, cheeks flushing slightly. "i would appreciate if you could pick up some grape juice."
"grape juice?" you ask, slowly. an odd request from a man who is ripped to the high heavens, yet you have realized that diluc himself is an odd man. stoic and reserved, yet odd nonetheless. "sure. got a brand preference?"
diluc's vermillion gaze snaps upward to meet your eyes, who look at him with absolute disinterest. somehow, this seems to calm his slight embarrassment at asking for such a childish beverage.
"dawn winery, if they sell it," diluc responds before glancing over once more.
"dawn winery?" you echo and diluc looks slightly nervous at your interrogation. "isn't that like... super expensive?"
"oh," diluc responds. "i can afford it."
you stare at him. maybe you should have charged him rent if he can afford that overpriced, not very good grape juice.
"got it," you confirm, still slightly weirded out by his awkwardness over the whole thing. "anything else?" you shuffle over to the doorway and glance back over your shoulder, patting your coat pocket to ensure the bag of mora was tucked in your pocket.
diluc clears his throat.
"return safe, okay?" his order is softly spoken. you nod.
"i'll try," you say and slip out of the door. it was just a simple grocery run. if anything was going to threaten your safety, it would be staying in the house with diluc. after all, the fatui couldn't accuse you of anything if you weren't caught in the house alongside him.
for a man who had multiple broken bones, diluc was rather worried about people that weren't him. you didn't quite understand it but, despite the way his righteousness and self-sacrificial attitude bothered you, you found yourself admiring it. such a personality would result in statues being made of him, should his heroism actually be vocalized.
yet somehow, the honorable prince that diluc was a few steps (and non-broken bones) was somehow relying on the humble farmer for survival. you only hope it won't bite him in the ass.
but, most of all, you only hope that you won't grow attached.

Hiya! I hope you’re doing well :3 May I request the SFW alphabet with Albedo, Zhongli, and Diluc, letters L,R,Z? Thank youuu!! And dont forget to take care if yourself!
{ Albedo, Zhongli, Diluc x GN!Reader }
{ Summary } SFW Alphabet L, R, and Z. 100 Followers Special
{ Warnings } None
{ Notes } I hope this is okay and didn’t take too long. Also, I hope you don’t mind me not doing another L for Zhongli. Masterlist
{ Word Count } 947
{ Albedo }
L = Little ones (How are they around children?)
If Albedo is capable of handling Klee, he can handle any child in Teyvat. He’s become a master at entertaining even the most energetic of children in non-destructive ways, of course, this ability came with a lot of practice. Albedo has somewhat complicated feelings about having children of his own. For one, it’s not known to him if such a thing is even possible considering his origins. Not to mention, he’s fearful of what fate might befall his children should he ever lose control. Albedo can’t help but worry about the unknown future. On the other hand, for him to play a part in the creation of life, just the thought of it makes his heart flutter. He’d make such a good father, but it would take a lot of trust and convincing for him to consider that possibility.
R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)
Albedo’s fondest memory is of one of the simple dates you planned early on in your relationship. You had gone out on a perfect summer afternoon and set up two easels across from each other under the tree at Windrise. The premise of the date was simple, you’d paint each other and show your canvases after. The fact you had one of his interests in mind when coming up with the date made his heart warm. He remembered your sheepish smile when you told him yours probably wouldn’t be as good as his, but you prepared a picnic for after to make up for it. It took him a particularly long time to finish painting that day, he spent most of the time just staring in awe, the sunlight filtering through the trees and crystalflies floating around you were the perfect complements to your beauty.
Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)
Albedo is often working on his research in his lab deep into the night and needs to be reminded to sleep. However, he is very keen on the importance of sleep and ensures he gets eight hours of sleep every night. If he comes home late, he sleeps in late. It’s a simple matter in his mind, if he is to perform his work to the best of his abilities he needs to be well-rested. Considering the nature of his work, Albedo doesn’t have a strict working schedule so he can come into the lab once he is rested without worrying about being on time. Even if that wasn’t the case, what are they gonna do? Fire Albedo, one of the most genius alchemists of the age? I think not.
{ Zhongli }
L = Little ones (How are they around children?)
 L for Zhongli can be found here.
R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)
How could Zhongli possibly pick only one when every moment with you shines like gold in his memory? A lot of his time has been spent thinking of the past, of what was and what could have been. Recently he’s found himself changing a little bit. His favorite memory of your relationship is the one he’s living in. Zhongli is so happy being in the moment with you, putting his full focus on the now. A close second is the time he was so absorbed in admiring your expressions as you retold the story of your latest adventure he hadn’t realized he had been pouring tea too long until it overflowed out of the cup, flooded the table, and spilled into his lap. He was thankful that this was his third cup by that time and the tea in the pot had cooled down so his legs were unharmed. Unlike his dignity. But, damn, you were so beautiful in that moment.
Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)
Ever the old man at heart, Zongli is early to bed early to rise. It’s hardly ever the case that Zhongli goes to bed when he is tired, it is simply his routine. Once the sun has set, he brews a nice cup of tea, reads a chapter of whatever book he is interested in at the time in bed, then goes to sleep with you. Or without you, if you’re inclined to stay up later. Of course, he isn’t opposed to staying up later with you if that is your preference, but it will be quite the challenge if you wish to break his routine for more than a night or two.
{ Diluc }
L = Little ones (How are they around children?)
Just thinking about family makes Diluc’s poor heart ache but he wants one so, so badly. Diluc feels he has a responsibility to protect Mondstadt before considering his desires and also thinks it would be selfish to put his family at risk considering the enemies he has made. In a more peaceful time where he doesn’t have to worry about those who wish to hurt him hurting his family, he wouldn’t hesitate to start one with you. Until then, it’s just a seemingly far away dream.
R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)
It may be cheesy, but Diluc’s favorite memory is the one when he was finally certain you returned his feelings. It’s no surprise he has trouble opening up to others, that he has trust issues. It takes a long time and a lot of trust, but once you’ve proven that he can always count on you when it matters and he sees the earnestness in your eyes when you tell him how he feels, his walls come crumbling down for you. He probably cries.
Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)
Mondstadt’s beloved Darknight Hero is perpetually exhausted. He’s out late defending the city and up early in the morning to take care of Dawn Winery’s various administrative affairs. It’s even worse during the times he’s expected to host various events for Mondstadt’s nobility. It’s difficult, but you can sometimes convince Diluc to catch up on sleep by coaxing him into napping with you. He won’t say it, but he secretly appreciates it greatly, even more so if you help with some of his responsibilities so he doesn’t fall behind.

that one cracky zhongven fic
Summary: Jean gets alerted that there's a possible child predator in the city and takes it super seriously and then... the "child" in question is her god. Her 2000+ yrs old god and the "predator" is his 6000+ yrs old boyfriend.
Anna had been near the fountain, swishing her hands through the crystal waters as she watched the people of Mondstadt do their daily routines.
The guards were around the gate, Carol was at her merchant stall, some little kids were playing around with the stray dogs. Overall it was a very peaceful day, most days were since Storterrors defeat and Dvalin’s rise.
Lord Barbatos must’ve blessed them, she thought. The weather was just right, not too hot nor too cold. It cooled everyone’s skin nicely and everyone seemed to enjoy their day. Perhaps the lord was in a good mood himself, maybe this was his way of forgiving them for treating the Dvalin situation so horribly. Lord Barbatos was never rumored to hold grudges long.
Anna smiled to herself, joy creeping at her sides. How fun, she mused. But something bad is bound to happen. Maybe that Bennett boy would come in and ruin their luck once again, trouble seemed to follow the teenager and it just so happened he liked to take his daily stroll around this time.
She suppressed a groan. If he were to appear today would be rather eventful. She does not think that it would sour the mood of the Mondstadt citizens, maybe even make them laugh at the child’s poor luck but that didn’t mean the boy would feel the same.
Her grin morphed into a frown at that thought but she shook those thoughts away. Better not dwell on a future that wasn’t set in stone.
Anna’s head roamed around once again, maybe she’d see someone she hasn’t met yet.
But instead, her eyes landed on the local bard, Venti, she recalled him calling himself. According to her brother, he played at Angel’s Share frequently but also went around telling tales of the gods around Barbatos statue. He was a traveling bard, if asked he could probably sing you a song about the Dendro archon.
She stood from her spot on the edge of the fountain, patting down her dress to go greet the teenager, ask him how his day was. Venti was known for being very conversational after all. She started heading over, a grin on her face. Maybe she'd be able to convince him to play her a song, she doubts he'd protest.
Anna walked around the fountain, making sure she didn't trip over any pebbles before looking up again. But now there was someone at Venti's side. The man was tall in stature, with long limbs that had some obvious muscle on them. She hesitated in her steps, perhaps it was a bad time. But Venti didn't appear as if it was, instead he had a bright grin as he looked at the elder.
She wasn't in hearing distance, and even if she was their voices would probably be drowned out by the crowd and the happy shrieks of Mondstadt's children.
So, Anna watched. She wasn't necessarily concerned, it was probably an uncle or a family friend. Yeah, that's right.
Venti's hands traveled to grip the elder man's hands, in a firm but gentle grip. The young bard bounced on his toes as he talked avidly to the man who in return smiled down fondly at him. Unease crept into Anna's gut but she stood where she was and continued to watch.
The man's hands also wandered, moving from Venti's grip to tug on the strands of his braids that framed his face. Venti giggled at the elder but continued to talk, moving his hands to wrap around the man's neck.
Anna frowned and shifted in place, something was wrong, she just couldn't put her finger on it.
After moments of just talking and Anna's feet shifting is when they kissed. It took a moment but the elder man pressed his lips to Venti's, quickly shutting up the young teenager. Anna let out a gasp and moved her eyes away, not being able to see Venti's reaction. This was obviously some sort of child predator situation and she should tell the acting grandmaster immediately.
Running for the stairs she ignored the concerned call of her brother, Anthony, and wasted no time to tell the nearest knight she could find.
Jean sighed into her palms, rubbing at her temple. A frown rested on her lips as she stared at Lisa who sat next to her. "What do I do? Miss Anna didn't provide much information." She could tell the woman was panicked, fearful for the teen she brought up but she could've at least mentioned some names. All Jean had managed to get out was that fact it was a bard and a man in Liyue-styled clothing.
Her wife, Lisa, didn't offer much help but that didn't mean Jean didn't appreciate her appearance, nor did it mean that Lisa did not care. "There are so many bards in Mondstadt, Lord Barbatos encourages the sound of music so much that nearly anyone native to Mondstadt can play an instrument." And many have made a career out of it, she did not say. It was no use worrying herself further. She should just get to the bottom of this as fast as possible.
If there was a child predator in Mondstadt, only the archons may know how many kids he may go after next. Lisa rubbed at her leg in a comforting manner, providing as much calm as she could. "She mentioned she saw them near the fountain, no? Perhaps they're still there."
Jean nodded. Sometimes she forgot Lisa was just as much of a knight as she was. "You're right. I'll go check, stay here."
Her wife nodded, giving her a soft smile. "If you need me I'll be here." Jean smiled at that and pressed a quick kiss to her lips before heading out the door, making sure to grab her sword on the way out. Even if she didn't wish for it, things may get violent.
Huffing, she brushed past her fellow knights, ignoring Kaeya's good afternoon. She'd have to fill him in later, she's sure he'd understand.
Running into the plaza, she caught her breath leaning up against a wall. She couldn't see any sight of a bard or a man in Liyue clothing, so it was best to ask questions. Walking over to a nearby shop-owner she asked and asked but only got shakes of heads and a 'sorry' in return. She was fast to reassure them that it wasn't their fault for not noticing.
She paced across the stairs and hummed in thought. Usually bard's play in taverns, more likely the most popular ones.
Jean smiled at her lead, time for an impromptu visit to Angel's Share.
The door to Angel's Share burst open and Diluc nearly screamed. He really hoped he wouldn't need to get it fixed. Turning around he was surprised to see Jean, a determined look on her face as she walked up to him. "Diluc," She said seriously, forgoing his title. They were friends after all, and her tone was quiet enough for nobody else to hear so it wouldn't raise suspicion. "Have you seen a man in Liyue clothing and a bard around?"
Diluc raised a brow. "Do you mean Venti and Zhongli?"
Jean blinked at him. "What? No? Who even is Zhongli?"
"What do you mean 'Who is Zhongli'? He's Venti's boyfriend or whatever." He's also the geo archon, went unsaid but still heard.
He watched as confusion, shock, understatement, and relief crossed her face, all in a span of two minutes. She looks ready to cry, he thought. Good or bad he did not know.
Slowly a laugh bubbled out of her and she slammed her hand down on the bar table, making a customer next to her jump in surprise. "Of course," She muttered under her breath.
Seemingly have sensed her presence (Diluc wouldn't be surprised if he actually had), Venti walked over, Zhongli trailing after him. The elder man looked very out of place due to his clothing but did not seem to realize the stares he attracted.
"Is everything alright over here?" Venti asked with a smile before looking at Diluc and sliding over some mora. "Also, can I get another Dandelion wine? I finished my previous one like ten minutes ago."
Sighing, Diluc took the mora and went to grab a cup but kept his ears strained for the conversation.
The acting grandmaster was exhausted. Now she wasn't one to be vulgar but tonight was an absolute shit-show and she never wanted to repeat it (though she had a feeling something similar will happen, eventually).
Lisa looked up from her book when she walked in, quick to rush over and give her a gentle hug. "Did you catch the perp?" She asked.
The blonde laughed and for a second she feared she may have had one too many drinks after her realization. Could you blame her though? She deserved that wine.
"I wouldn't say I caught anything." She started, watching a grimace cross Lisa's face. "It was actually a false alarm." She didn't know how to explain it to her wife without spoiling Venti and Zhongli's secret. How shall she do this?
"What do you mean?"
"Well, turns out this 'teenager' is actually a very old adult and so is the other adult. Miss Anna had just mistaken him for a minor." She ended up saying.
"Oh! How unfortunate for the couple than, I believe it'll be a little hard to display affection in public if one is that easy to mistake as a child."
"Yes, I suppose so."

I’ll Stay Right Here
Summary: Living in mondstadt meant being used to living near the water. You however, never seem to get used to finding shells along the shore. You’ll do anything to get your hands on them, even take a hit from a shield-wielding mitachurl.
Requested by: Anon
Request: I'm starving for Kaeya content😤 so him with a s/o who fucking adores collecting shells and pretty flowers even if they're in the middle of a battle or if there are enemies camping nearby. The amount of times I've died trying to get a starconch is unreal. But it's always worth it bc pretty shells. They also like to give them to Kaeya too as a gift or sometimes an apology. I just l o v e collecting pretty shit man😭
Warnings:A bit angsty. Reader gets injured.
A/N: Anon, you are a whole mood. Now that I’m at a high enough level, sometimes I’ll just let the enemies hit me once or twice while I pick things up. Also, pausing mid climb to grab a geo sigil? More likely than you’d think. Also, I am sorry if this is super ooc, this is my second fic for Genshin Impact, and my first Kaeya fic, so I might need a bit more practice before I nail down his character completely.
~~~
Kaeya loves you, he really does, but sometimes you can be so frustrating. As captain of the cavalry, he has to deal with more than one oblivious airhead on the daily, and while he wouldn’t give you the title, he wouldn’t completely abstain from suggesting you can have airheaded moments.
Such as now.
It was supposed to be a simple clearing assignment. Jean had gotten reports of some particularly nasty hilichurl camps near the shore. Particularly over by Dawn Winery. If Kaeya had the chance to bother Diluc while also getting work done, he wasn’t going to pass up that chance. So when he heard Jean give you the assignment, he volunteered to accompany you. Doing work, annoying Diluc, and spending time with his significant other? Three birds, one stone.
Now, he was regretting coming along. You had gotten distracted pretty early on in the search for the camp, eyes landing on the sparkly item buried partially by sand. Kaeya knew you had a whole mantle full of them at home, but he never realized that you still were adding to said collection.
You turned to him, eyes shining in excitement as you bounced up and down on the balls of your feet, hydro vision bouncing and twinkling from where it hung on the lapel of your coat.
“Kaeya, do you know what this is?” You asked, holding up what was obviously a starconch.
Kaeya quirked a brow, a slight smirk on his face, “A shell?” He asked, already knowing that wasn’t the answer you were looking for.
His guess was only confirmed by the roll of your eyes and the drop of your shoulders, “It’s not just any shell, Kae,” You stressed. “This is a Starconch. They’re usually only found in Liyue. I’ve never gotten to see one in person before, and I never thought I would!”
Kaeya chuckled slightly, eyes filled with fondness at your child-like excitements. “Well, in that case, I’ll be on the lookout for more in the future.”
He was almost sure he actually physically blushed at the adoration in your gaze when you looked back at him. Your smile was big enough that he thought your face might stick that way, and oh what a sight that would be to see everyday. He wasn’t sure he would actually be able to handle it.
His excitement dropped when a figure, quickly approaching, loomed behind you. Just as he registered the wood of the mitachurl’s shield, you bent down to look through the sand more.
“(Y/N)-” He began to shout, his one uncovered eye wide.
You must’ve felt the vibrations in the ground, because your head rose just as your companion took quick steps towards you. He was too late.
The shield slammed into you, sending you flying through the air and back into the sand. The sickening sound of the wood hitting your body filled his ears. You lay unmoving in the sand. Kaeya’s gaze was fixed on your immobile form until the sound of the mitachurl’s footsteps pulled him back to reality.
His icy gaze landed on the large, hulking monstrosity, crystals of ice beginning to form and float around him as the temperature in the area dropped significantly. The mitachurl didn’t last very long there after.
~~~
When you woke, you were tucked tightly into an unfamiliar bed. The sheets were soft, but the entire room was much too dark compared to your own. The blue blankets that draped over you were placed in such a way as to suggest that you had been covered and not just pulled them over yourself.
The door on the far side of the room opened, and the short, bright form of Barbara walked through. Her white dress was a stark contrast against the rest of the room. The heels of her boots clicked ont he wood floor. When she spotted you sitting up and awake, she gasped, a smile stretching across her face.
“Oh thank goodness!” She squeaked. “I was worried for a moment there. I mean… we all were.”
You were confused by what she meant until you followed her gaze down to your body. From almost head to toe, you were wrapped tightly in white bandages.
“I should get Kaeya,” She mumbled, placing the tray of bandages she had in her hands onto the coffee table across the room. “He’s been with you almost day and night. Diluc had to come and drag him out so he would eat.”
“Diluc?” You’re brows raised. Barbara nodded.
“Not even Jean could convince him to move from that chair. Diluc didn’t even have to say anything to him though. It was scary,” Barbara seemed lost in thought. She promised to be back quickly before leaving the room again.
Your eyes wandered, recognizing where you were finally. This must have been Kaeya’s room. A shine caught your eye, and your head turned to the nightstand, spotting the starconch you had picked up before your injuries.
A bandaged hand came up, lifting the cool shell from the table and bringing it to your lap. Your eyes looked over it, studying each detail. It didn’t seem all that worth it now.
The door burst open and in strolled an unusually disheveled Kaeya. It was unusual to see him without his eyepatch, and even less so without his usual cape and fur. The only thing he was wearing was his pants, boots, and the white undershirt.. His hair clean, but it looked like that had been a recent development, as the ends were still damp.
He sighed out at the sight of you, speeding up to sit in the chair that had been pulled up next to your beside. His hands reached out, hesitating only slightly before he ran a hand down your cheek. There was a deep frown on his face, and for once, he didn’t have a witty one liner to fire at you.
“How are you feeling?” He finally asked, breaking the silence.
You frowned at his creased brown, hand coming up to smooth the anxiety that knit his brow. He sighed, eyes closing. His hand came up to gently pull yours away.
“I’m perfectly fine,” You whispered out. “I’m sorry.”
You looked down to the shell in your hand, moving to place it gently into Kaeya’s upturned palms. He stared down at it, unmoving. In the blink of an eye, he was almost doubled over in light laugher. It twinkled, like a bell, soft against the pounding of your head.
“Next time you want a shell, darling,” He still cradled the starconch like it was a precious treasure. “Just ask me to retrieve them for you. Maybe then we can avoid more accidents like this.”
You smiled sheepishly, but nodded. Kaeya smirked at you, leaning up to place a gently kiss upon your forehead, and then your nose, and then down to your lips.
“Rest,” He mumbled. “I will stay right here.”

Under the moonlight
Diluc x reader
(a sprinkle of spoiler from darknight hero questt)
You and aether run as. Fast as you both could while paimon us flying as fast as she could. Currently its 18:59, the darknight hero will appear soon and you both doesn't wanna missed him.
When you both arrived, Diluc is already there you both watched him attack the mage as you both are entrance by his fighting style.
He looked at the both of you from the corner of his eyes, upon seeing you he widen his eyes a bit but quickly regain his composure.
He turn his whole body towards the both of you and stare at you for a while. He closed his eyes and fold his hand over eachother and then stare back at the both of you.
"Ah.. so it's you master Diluc, Y-you're the darknight hero..".
Aether stated a little hesitation in the end. You looked at Diluc and wave at him.
"hello master diluc! You're the darknight hero??? That's veryy cool!".
You stated for a while and then bow your body a little as a sign of respect.
"thankyou for protecting mondstat!".
Aether looks at you, deadpan. You can never really learn the situation huh.. showing respect and not seemingly surprised.. you even show excitement.
And that's one of the things that Diluc like about you. Always straight to the point and always so polite and sweet.
"take care of these enemy for me traveler, please follow me y/n".
He stated after having a little conversation with Aether. Now you're shocked, why would he ask you to follow him. You hesitate but there's something about his gaze that makes you comfortable to tell him everything. As if he is asking you too.
Taking all your guts you put one of your hand on your chest, clenching your outfits.
"s-sorry master Diluc.. i will stay here and help Aether fight".
He stare at you for a while and then sigh a little bit. Seeing him sigh you instantly regret your decision, you're preparing yourself to be heartbroken when he leaves but.
"i have more important things to do and your a part of that things. Traveler can fend for himself. Right traveler?".
He asked, staring at the traveler, expecting him to say yes and nod.
"go y/n as master Diluc said, you're one of the important "things" for him... You should go".
Aether said, giggling a little bit. He saw how Diluc looks at you, he saw the worried face on Diluc face whenever you go out doing commission with him and now Diluc just confirms that you are infact very important for him.
"come follow me".
Diluc said, stretching his hand out. You take his hand with hesitation and look at Aether, he is waving you goodbye with a smile on his face the expression in his face confirms that everything will be okay and so you smile and wave back as you slowly follows diluc's footsteps.
"paimon thinks that master Diluc is in love with y/n". Paimon said after the both of you are gone.
"you see that too right paimon? I think so too". Aether said, giggling at the end.
You walked hand in hand with Diluc through mondstat. He keeps looking down at you to check are you okay or not. The akward silence is killing him so he clear his throat, catching your attention.
"please becareful, recently i heard there will be a big storm of danger wave to mondstat".
He stated, you looked at him with a smile and blush. You nod your head.
"ye-yes! Thankyou master Diluc".
He nod and squeeze your hand more as your face erupts in a shade of redder shade instantly you looked at him.
His so dreamy.. everything about him- his jaws his face, his hair-. Your thoughts are cut off when you hear him say something.
"you can stay with me if you'd like.. you won't be a bother.. you can accompany me if you'd like".
He said, facing away from you, you stare at him wide eye as you're loss for words. You have more and you're pretty good, you don't really have a place to stay because... Well you're always going on adventures with Aether so this... Is surprisingly nice.
You smile up at him, stroking his hand, trying to soothe him.
"i would live to accompany master Diluc. It would be such a Great honour!".
You stated, he looks at you, surprise is present on his face. You stare at him back, not even noticing that you both stopped on your track to look at eachother under the moonlight.
Diluc felt comfort. He felt happiness with you, he felt like you're his world and he wanted to protect you, whenever you're hurt his heart will shatter that's why he wanted to be with you,. To make you happy. To Protect you.
"is this what people called love?".
Whops.. he accidentally think out loud, which is rare, your face erupts in shades of red along with him.
"pa-pardon?!".
You kind of shriek he looks at you after taking a deep breath.
"i think I'm in love with you".
He said it again- your heart is broken, it has exploded, he likes you back! Never.. in your life you would think that-.
"i-i- wa- what? Wait uhm-".
You wanted to facepalm so bad because of the words you spit out is a bunch of jumbled words. Diluc's eyes darkened a bit.
"it's okay if you don't feel the same way-". He said.
"NO!". You cut him off.
"i-its not like that- i.. i never thought that you would like.. me back-".
You explained to him, Diluc takes all the courage in the world and grab your waist and kissed your lips.
Your lips taste so sweet,. So soft.. he cannot have enough of it, it's so nice and warm.. he wanted more.. he doesn't wanna stop..
Diluc pulled away, and let you take a breath,. Your hand is clutching his shoulder as you pant and looked at his eye. He takes your chin and peck your lips one more time.
"is that a yes?".
He asked, you just nod your head, not trusting your voice, he let out a relief sigh as he stroke your head and kiss you deeply, with passion again.
You hug his neck and kiss him back, pulling away to take a breath for a second and then kiss him again, softer this time.
Diluc smile on your lips as he pulled away, gaving a time for both of you to catch some air again. You look up at him as he touched his Forehead with yours and peck it.
"you're mine okay, you will live with me from now on".
He stated, you nod your head at him and hug him. He peck your lips once again and then brings you to the manor.
~~~~~
"anddddd that's how i meet my prince!".
You stated with a smile, you're talking to the kids on mondstat, you read them a princess story once and now they're wondering how you meet your prince and You gladly explained to them while they're looking at you with amazement while sitting on top if the grass near the statue of seven.
"SEEE miss y/n is like a princess! Her prince would be mr Diluc! He looks like a prince".
One of the kids said, making you laugh and shake your head.
"ah! Y/n! Thankyou for taking care of my kids okay? Sorry.. they're a bunch of trouble's..".
Their mother comes towards you as you smile and shake your head as you giggle.
"no ma'am, you have such a sweet kids".
She smile back at you greatfuly as she sigh and hold her head.
"ah.. you're too kind.. tell your fiancé i said hi okay".
She said as she walks away, you nod your head as you said your goodbyes. A footsteps was heard from behind you.
"princess y/n ragnvindr huh.. that suits you".
A red haired man comes from behind you and kissed you cheek.
"it sounds perfect doesn't it? Those kids is so nice".
Diluc smile at you, the same pretty smile that he gave you 6 years ago when you both first meet.
"yeah.. those kids are nice,but we would make a better kids right?".
He said, taking you up and sitting beside you and put you on his lap. He pepper you face with kisses, thinking that there is no one here.
"didn't think that Master Diluc likes PDA".
A teasing voice comes along, snapping both of your sweet moments.
"shut uppp tone deaf bard, paimon was enjoying the showwww".
Paimon whine while Aether apologize to stalk the both of you, you shake your head and flash them a bright smile, your Fiancée on the other hand has summon his claymore.
"you're looking for death".
Paimon and Venti squeal and run away while Diluc summon his fire bird to chase them. Aether laugh along side you as Paimon and Venti apologize thousands upon thousands of time.
The future will not be as pretty compared to now.. the fight that mondstat face will be hard on the future but.. as long as Diluc is here with you, you'll be fine.
PART I - PART II - PART III
bye i created this on a whim ive always wanted to write an mc who just likes money yet still carries the “happiness/freedom” ideals of mondstadt.. essentially its an mc whos like hell yeah i love money <3 and fun..!!! okay also i did not edit this at all i was just like <3 writing time baby..
Tumblr media
Of course, working for the wealthiest gentleman in Mondstadt was no easy task. There were two places you could work: Dawn Winery or Angel’s Share. The winery, settled in the countryside, was a cozy job with friendly workers who saw rolling hills of green every day; however, the only available occupation within your skillset was being a maid. So you worked at Angel’s Share which was planted in the city, and there you were greeted with weary workers and angry people. It was plenty more fun, anyway.
Your boss was as impassive as a tree, giving you your pay and leaving you be. He kept a strange emotional distance. Which was fine. Totally fine. But whenever you wanted a raise, his aloof attitude warded you off and you’d tell yourself you’d try next time.
Growing up in a household where money was a prominent figure in your life, you had materialistic values and a great love for money. So during your employment at the tavern, you picked up more shifts than anyone else and seldom splurged. You were stuck giving your laments to your friends and returning customers who were kind enough to humor wails.
“One of these days, Lisa, I’m actually going to lose it,” you said to the librarian of the knights. You slumped your body on the bar, clearly in a professional fashion. “What do you want to drink?”
Lisa gave you a pitying look. “You could always become a knight or an adventurer. They receive plenty of pay through commissions.”
“No, thank you! I kind of want to live.”
“I don’t think I’ll have anything to drink,” Lisa said. She laughed at your sullen expression. “Today, at least. I have to explore these ruins later today. I really, really don’t want to, but Jean is making me.”
You slid a tin can labelled TIPS to Lisa. “Every time you don’t want to do something it’s five mora.”
“Since when did this become a thing?”
“It’s always been a thing. I was just giving you a family-friend discount up until now.”
Lisa dropped the coins into the can. You smiled at the sound of click-clank. Lisa rested her cheek on the palm of her hand and said, “have you ever thought about… not working for the tavern? I’m sure there are other places in the world that’ll appreciate your pleasant company.”
“Yeah, but Master Diluc pays the best in Mondstadt if you don’t have a decent education under your belt,” you said dryly. “I’d have to travel out of Mondstadt to find a better opportunity.”
“There’s always the cathedral,” Lisa offered.
“Do you see me as a devout follower to any god other than money? [Name], Humble Follower of Barbatos Since The Beginning! Engrave that on my tombstone, would you?”
“I don’t really want to do that.”
You pushed the tin can toward the librarian.
Lo and behold, the man of the hour strutted in with his typical apathy. If he carried himself with a more open chest and with his chin up, you’d find him more agreeable, more approachable. He’d be knightly, even. But Diluc hated knights. He hated small talk, too. He hated a lot of things.
He was a man of good looks and good fortune, in addition to being Mondstradt’s most eligible brooding bachelor bastard, donning a nice black coat with golden trimmings and tassels. A coat that’d fetch a nice price if you were to pawn it off. Not that you were thinking about selling your boss’ clothes. He stood at a decent height with his vermillion messy hair tied back and narrow eyes framed with thick lashes.
When Diluc walked through the doors, he didn’t spare you a glance before climbing up the stairs to deal with some other matters. As long as you did your job, he didn’t bother you.
Lisa whistled. “He’s so cold.”
“Pays well, though,” you murmured absentmindedly. Lisa looked as if she wanted to say something. Maybe it was something about how money didn’t exactly suffice for human relationships. Or something about her future job for the knights. Whatever was on the tip of her tongue, she chose not to say it, and dropped a few more mora coins into your little tin can.
Your relationship with Diluc was strange. You took enough shifts to be one of the most well-compensated workers under him, but you didn’t exactly know Diluc outside of his cool exterior. You didn’t know if you’d wanted to, either. Some nights, he’d come home right before the tavern’s opening, his clothes tattered and dirty and a grim feature coating his pretty features.
Typically you’d be working and cleaning, and you’d nod to him. Diluc would then take off to the second floor of the tavern. You never questioned it. You never would, either, unless you were paid to do so.
One late night, it was just you cleaning up for the night and Diluc sitting at the bar, going through some papers. Diluc offered to take Charles’ shift for the day, to which the man was grateful for. As you were wiping down the bar, Diluc said, “I never knew we had a tip jar.”
“It’s an ongoing gag with Lisa,” you said. “Please don’t mind it.” It wasn’t a lie, exactly. It was a joke with Lisa! You simply kept it out on the counter for every customer to see all day and all night. If they happen to drop mora in there for your charming smile and excellent service, who were you to stop them?
Diluc said nothing. You hadn’t expected him to. He’d let it slide, you supposed. If the tavern had a best employee of the month award, you would have won it consecutively for the last few years you’d been employed under the pretty man. However, Diluc was no great lover of trivial awards that were actually poorly concealed incentives, and as long as you were paid accordingly, you didn’t care about awards, either.
“If you needed a raise then say it,” he said suddenly. And you were surprised.
“Thank you,” you said.
“No need.”
When you left the tavern you squealed. Patton, the caller, awoke from his nap from a chair supposedly for customers. His legs had been propped on the accompanying table, which you had cleaned earlier so you didn’t have to deal with a certain customer who had too much to drink inside.
Patton rubbed his eyes groggily. “What’s up, [Name]?”
“I got a raise!” you exclaimed. “I’m so happy I could kiss you right now, Patton.”
“Please don’t,” he said. “What’s that in your hand?”
“Oh, leftovers.” You gave the small bag you were holding a good jostle. “It’s for the dog up there. I have a habit of feeding him every once in a while whenever there’s good scraps.”
Patton eyed you. “If you get bit and infected with rabies, maybe I’ll take your raise. Try and pet it for me, would you?”
“In your dreams, Patton.”
After a few taunts and banter, you left Patton alone. In a few hours, you’d come back to the tavern to work more. Before your mom had been hospitalized, you’d maybe put your extra money to treat yourself to Good Hunter or to buy new clothes.
Of course, while money was one of your many goals, you had other aspirations as well. More than anything, you’d like to resume a humble life in Mondstadt. If you could afford it, then you’d travel to Liyue and sightsee. And then maybe a little further. But you’d always return to Mondstadt. It was just home to you, and you liked home.
You crouched and fed the dog. He pressed his snout into your palm, warm and comforting. You giggled and finished the leftovers from your little sack. As much as Patton wanted you to die of infection, the dog was very tame and kind toward you. He let you brush his fur and scratch behind his ears. If you had enough patience and enough time, you’d teach him to bite Patton.
The next day, you were working with Charles, as per usual. He’d been working here far longer than any of you. You’d been employed here for a while now, and you’d come to know the man quite well after rowdy nights and quiet days in the tavern. He despised a drunk customer as much as you, but whenever you were on shift with him, he always offered to take care of it.
If not you, then Charles would get the nonexistent employee of the year award.
“Just put up a work wanted poster,” Charles said, cleaning a glass. “Judging by our usuals, we won’t get an honest inquiry for it in a while.”
You, who’d been making an apple cider, said, “oh, for the boars?” While you did want to work at the winery for its pleasant view and people, there were boars who’d been uprooting vines and you did not want to tussle with a boar.
“Say, [Name], you heard of the Darknight Hero?”
“Who hasn’t?” you asked. “My friends talk about him all the time. Everyone likes a good mystery around these parts. Have you seen the library? Oh, and the idea of him being handsome isn’t that bad… Do you think he’s rich, Charles?”
Charles snorted. “If he can afford to leave at night to protect Mondstadt, then he must be rich. He’s no worker like us, but he’s definitely noteworthy. He may as well just be an urban rumor, though, so don’t go around trying to seduce him only to get into his pockets.”
“I would never!”
“I saw you make eyes at a customer who was wearing very fine jewelry that could be pawned off for a high price.”
“I liked her eyes. They were kind. Reminded me of a princess from a fairytale.”
Diluc came from upstairs to the first floor. He was the same as he’d always been—closed off, calm, and collected. Fitting. He cast a quick glance at you and Charles before disappearing outside onto the streets of Mondstadt.
“That’s Master Diluc for you,” Charles said. “So elusive you could call him a ghost. A handsome, ghost, that is.”
“I barely know anything about him,” you said. “Elusive is correct, if not absolutely distant.”
“Really? You should talk to him more often.”
There was already a set difference between you and Charles. Firstly, it would be the years working at Angel’s Share. Charles knew Diluc more than you did. You wanted to point this out, but instead you slumped your shoulders. “He’s just so unapproachable, Charles. You wouldn’t understand. That mustache of yours makes you look amicable and agreeable.”
Charles self-consciously twirled the end of his mustache. He looked as if he wanted to say something. He turned back to his work, setting the clean glass down. “You and Master Diluc seem to complement each other, that’s all.”
You were very friendly and a good person underneath all your materialistic values. Had it not been for Diluc’s offstandish personality, maybe you and Diluc would be a little more than boss and employee. Maybe you and Diluc would be friends.
Of course, your main focus was your happiness and sanity. If you’d interacted with Diluc outside of work, you might’ve gone insane. Oh! And money. It was always money. You watched a customer drop a few mora into the tip jar.
zhongli: yes, they're rather an interesting bunch
diluc: by the way @zhongli sorry for being on my phone so much
zhongli: i don't mind
"But next time you can just say that to my face." Zhongli chuckled slightly and Diluc's head immediately went up to look at him.
“Sorry.” Diluc mumbled, putting his phone away. “The notifications were bugging me.” He explained himself quickly.
“Like I said. I don’t mind. But I must admit, I do prefer it when I have your full attention.” Zhongli smiled and if it was possible, Diluc would definitely melt in the spot. That smile was, without questions, something he loved about Zhongli the most.
And yeah, he did love Zhongli. It wasn't really a secret. He never truly denied it when someone - Kaeya or Lumine most of the time, was teasing him about his feelings. He just didn’t like being put on the spot like that. More concerned about Zhongli’s reaction than anything else. He wasn’t a little kid anymore, or in this situation, he wasn’t like Kaeya, who just played dumb to run away from his feelings. No. He was quite sure and secure in what he felt for the man sitting across from him right now.
The problem was, he didn’t know what Zhongli’s feelings were for him. Zhongli was one of the nicest, kindest and overall one of the best people he knew. And it was a good and a bad thing. Of course, it’s good to be friendly with everyone, to make others feel good on your presence but on the other hand... Diluc was jealous. As much as it hurt him and his pride to admit, he was jealous of all those people Zhongli was close with. Because it didn’t help the mixed signals he was receiving. Just like in that moment, when Zhongli said he likes to have Diluc’s full attention. With the intensity of his gaze, then tone of his voice and that smile... how could he not hope for Zhongli to meant in a more than just a friendly manner.
“Then you shall have it.” Diluc said eventually, after all those moments just looking at Zhongli in silence. Desperately searching his calm, warm, beautiful face for any signs of hinting at something more. “So. What do you think about the wine?” He decided to change the subject, the satisfied smile Zhongli shown him, suddenly feeling a little bit too suffocating, and his own face blushing unnecessarily hard.
“It’s very good. As always. You have yet to disappoint me with whatever you bring me.” At this point Diluc was sure the smile on Zhongli’s face was not going away and as much embarrassment it was bringing him he was almost proud it was his company that brought it on.
“I hope the day never comes.” He said it too quickly, he knew he was too eager but he just couldn’t help himself. The thought of Zhongli’s disappointed face scared him and made his heart clench. He truly wished he’d never have to see it.
“I’m positively sure it won’t. You could never disappoint me, Diluc.” Did someone just shot him straight through the heart? Diluc wouldn’t be able to say and it wouldn’t even matter because the way Zhongli said his name almost made his heart leap out of his chest and run to Zhongli. It was where it belonged and there was nothing Diluc could do about it anymore. No other person in this world could made him feel the way Zhongli did.
It was almost three years now since they’ve met and almost two since Diluc’s heart first skipped a beat just at the mere mention of his name. Throughout this time Diluc took every opportunity to travel to Liyue whenever he could. Didn’t matter if it’s a work stuff or like this time a commission with Lumine. Any time there was a chance to come here and see Zhongli, Diluc took it without any hesitation. He was quite worried Zhongli might find him bothersome but it never seem to be the case. He was even first to extend an invitation to Diluc on several occasions.
It was impossible not to fall in love with Zhongli. And he knew he wasn’t the only one who fell victim to his charms but - and it might’ve been just Diluc’s wishful thinking, but he felt like he was, for lack of a better word, special to Zhongli too. He just didn’t know in what way. Was it the same for Zhongli as it was for him? He had no idea and the biggest problem was that even after years he still wasn’t ready to ask and hear the answer.
“Should we take a walk?” Zhongli’s voice pulled him out of his head but the glowed hand gently laying on his own clasped hands, short circuit his brain for a moment. “It’s quite embarrassing to admit but the sunset always reminds me of you.” Was he purposely trying to cause Diluc a heart attack? Because it was certainly heading in that direction and Diluc almost wanted to slap himself across the face when he thought it wouldn’t be a bad way to go. “The sky takes on those beautiful colors, almost the same shade as your hair.” And Zhongli said he was embarrassed? Because right now it looked like Diluc was embarrassed and he was more than sure that the sky’s not the only thing in the same color as his hair. “I’m sorry. I hope I’m not making you uncomfortable.” Zhongli added somewhat cautiously, not breaking the eye contact. And Diluc was impressed with himself that he wasn’t the one to brak it despite all the things Zhongli said.
“No!” Diluc raised his voice surprising both of them. “You’re not I’m just... uhh, I’m just not used to the compliments.” He admitted and tried his hardest to ignore the warmth that flooded his face.
“Oh, that is a shame indeed.” Zhongli hummed. “Beautiful things should be appreciated.” He decided, squeezing Diluc’s hands a little.
Yup, Diluc was ready to die. There was no way he could win or come out of this alive.
Genshin Impact Chapter 1 Act 3: A Reaction.
Chapter 1 Act 3 is what took my experience with this game from “good game” to “masterpiece”.
THIS POST CONTAINS MANY, MANY SPOILERS FOR GENSHIN IMPACT CHAPTER 1: ACT 3
Tumblr media
Genshin Impact has some problems— actually, it has a shit ton of problems. But during the fight against hordes of Fatui, with the Adepti channeling their abilities through my gang, flying through them as Oz, decimating them with Diluc— I just thought, this is the best time I’ve had in a mobile game in my life.
This game might not be perfect now— it’s only a quarter of the way done if we’re counting Karenri’ah. But it will be a fucking masterpiece once it’s all out. If this is the level of quality we’re getting for our archon quests, this game is going to be an amazing time on story alone.
KEQING
I love Keqing with all my heart. If she were alive today she would be a socialist here to topple the ruling 1%. When ningguang asked Aether who they trusted more, her or Keqing, I hit the Keqing button as fast as possible.
I think one of my favorite things about Keqing is that she’s so completely honest, which is unusual for a Liyue politician. If she doesn’t like something, she’ll speak out against it. If she thinks something else should be happening, she’ll make it happen. She can probably be deceitful at times, but in general she’s straightforwards in that she wants a government for the people and by the people.
I can’t wait for her story quest!
NINGGUANG
pretty.... voice pretty....
Ningguang is cool. Her JP voice is very pretty, like she could do ASMR videos online or smth. One thing I decidedly did not like about Ningguang is how her personality just ???? flips? In the middle of the quest, for no reason other than “because plot”.
It’s established that Ningguang cares about two things more than anything— the Jade palace and Mora. Why, then, would she destroy the Jade palace for the sake of Liyue? I get that she’s a good person at heart at all, but I want to see more of her indecision, her brain saying “mora” and her heart saying “Liyue”. The way she just flips on a dime isn’t really strange but it does contradict with her preexisting characterization.
Childe’s Boss Fight!
The section of this quest from Childe’s fight to the Adepti + Qixing battle is just nonstop adrenaline.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Childe is IMO a lot more fun than Dvalin (sorry Dvalin). I’m at WL5 and have a tendency to play fast and loose with important mechanics like.... dodging, for example.... and Childe’s Mask Electro form ended up destroying my team. I killed him with Guoba because everyone else besides Xiangling was dead. I
Another thing I really enjoy about Childe’s boss fight is that in the irrationalities of Childe as a character, it actually makes sense. Genshin is decent at making weekly bosses logical excursions— Andrius wants you to get stronger, Dvalin’s weekly fight is ~~all a dream~~; but tbh sometimes the weekly bosses don’t make sense. Andrius wants to train us, not murder us! How does dvalin, a dream slash memory that doesn’t exist, manage to knock someone out?
Childe as a weekly boss actually makes perfect sense. He’s an adrenaline junkie addicted to the thrill of fighting people— to put this in modern AU terms, he’s the guy who’s first in line to ride the rollercoaster that failed all of its health and safety checks. Childe wants to befriend the Traveler entirely because they’re stronger than him, so that he can fight them over and over again until he’s the strongest. Of course, this will never happen, because the Traveler is the MC and therefore is stronger than all others. However, in this way Childe being a repeatable boss makes 100% perfect sense— he actually wants to fight the Traveler again and again and again.
The one question I have about Childe is how in the living feck are the Fatui letting him join the Traveler and fight for them *against the Fatui*??? I think this might be touched on in Childe’s Story quest, which I’ll do in a bit, but like????? They let him keep his delusion and just walk over to Aether like “aight fam I’m on your team now”? How?
Jade Chamber/ Guizhong Ballista vs Sea Monster Fight!!
Basically, all my charged adrenaline from nearly dying to Childe just came to a head in this one huge fantastic fight.
And Xiao :)
I absolutely loved seeing the Adepti and the Qixing work together. This fight was probably my favorite fight in the whole game— the music was amazing (soundtrack where), the graphics were so nice, the adepti were so feckin cool, using everyone’s abilities was n I ce. My adrenaline was reaching its highest point at this fight and it was just perfect. It was just so fecking fun after days of WL5 pain, having to pop like five ultimates to kill one hillichurl, to be able to just demolish swathes of enemies with Fischl and Diluc, run around like a madman thanks to Xiao, have infinite health idr who did that for me but bless them, just absolutely destroy.
Ever since I hit WL5 I haven’t been able to really just go insane during a fight and stop caring about HP/ when to use skills/ dodging and this have me that opportunity.
Zhongli’s Deal
*punches Zhongli across the room with the power of being the player character* I love this man so much.
Zhongli Zhongli Zhongli Zhongli Zhongli. I AM VERY ANGRY AT HOW THE PLOT RESOLVED HIS STORYLINE. But it also makes a lot of sense. And I think, for once, Zhongli should be allowed to be selfish.
Because choosing to leave Liyue was a bit selfish. He’s leaving the country that adores him, loves him, gives him shit for free; to its own devices and then to a completely unknown fate once the new Geo Archon becomes god and takes over. But he made a frankly fantastic plan and can now leave the country, for now, in peace.
I was absolutely delighted to see Zhongli in Morax form. Making deals with La Signora, being a complete and utter puppet master who set this entire situation up and played Childe like a kazoo; but just like his dear friend Venti, I think Zhongli is happier when he’s just Zhongli, the eccentric mortal. He seems so much happier and so much more relaxed when he’s forgetting about mora and eating dinner with Aether and Paimon. Rex Lapis might have just put Liyue through the wringer, but he can now put down his 3000- year long reign and just be the happy, eccentric Zhongli.
Zhongli’s little bit of insecurity over being a “bourgeois parasite” makes perfect sense now— he doesn’t want to be seen as Morax, a superfluous god who’s using his name to get whatever he wants from the humans he watches over.
But also the part of my brain that feeds off lore nEEDS to KNOW what Zhongli got from Tsaritsa. What could be worth a gnosis? His own happiness isn’t enough— Tsaritsa is likely going to use his gnosis to try and destroy Liyue. What could be worth that?
My main thought would be either “someone’s protection” or “another gnosis”, but I don’t think the latter is possible. The former could be possible but doesn’t really make sense either— a) whose protection is worth putting an entire country, much less the world, in danger and b) the Fatui are out to kill everyone who isn’t Fatui, so they won’t agree to spare a major player in the war to come like that. Brain go brrr.
I’m very hyped for Zhongli’s story quest, which I think is coming with his banner on Dec 1, when Childe’s banner ends. I really hope that Zhongli visits Mondstadt and chills with Venti for a while, but anything with this guy would be fine lol.
LORE
We got a lot of lore this update and I am delighted by it.
Firstly, we get a tiny hint of how Visions are bestowed— “if a person shows true strength of will at a desperate and fateful moment in their life, the gods will look upon them with favor.” Vague but more than we had before.
Next we got some neat lore about Inazuma— firstly, that it’s led by a god named Baal and secondly that it steals everyone’s visions. I’m very hyped to visit because guess what fam aether doesn’t have a vision.
Final Thoughts
In case you can’t tell from my insane ramblings, I loved Chapter 1 Act 3 and I absolutely cannot wait to play through Childe’s story quest and Chapter 2 and beyond.
The Prologue in Mondstadt set the stage for Genshin. We started out in a fantasy environment with a fantasy tale of an immortal bard and a dragon. Mondstadt was an excellent introduction to the world of Genshin.
And now? We’re starting to build on that. Chapter 1 brings us another story of another god and their relationship with the country they watch over. Liyue is much less of a traditional fantasy setting and takes the darkness we saw in Mondstadt— a friendship ruined by manipulation and suffering— and build on it. Now we don’t just see the Fatui more often but we also see more of the Treasure Hoarders and the way both groups kidnap and experiment on humans.
Mond started to introduce us to the Fatui, but Liyue is where they really start bringing continuous plot relevance. Inversely, we saw much more of the Abyss Order in Mondstadt than we did in Liyue. I’m extremely disappointed we didn’t see any more of the Princess this chapter, but it makes sense given that Chapter 1 was really more about the Fatui than the Abyss Order.
All I’m trying to say is the Liyue arc was an excellent continuation to the stage Mondstadt’s arc set. Now, we’re on to the world of the Eternal Shogun, Baal! I’m really excited to meet new characters and experience new stories of Inazuma, but I hope we’ll continue to see Mondstadt and Liyue in the future. Mondstadt is likely going to be the most “boring” of the countries we experience, cuz it’s just so classically fantasy- themed, but it will always be the first country we explored in this world.
After Inazuma (if I had to take a shot in the dark, inazuma’s arc will take from December 23 to maybe March or April) we’ll go to Sumeru, which I am really extremely hyped for because it sounds extremely different from Mond and Liyue and we’ll meet Cyno and possibly even Collei! (just me extrapolating lol). I can’t wait to see where Genshin Impact goes story- wise, because its first major update has brought so much to the table.
