“So are you. You’re sightless. Why are you alive?”
“My parents liked me,” Cecil explained, knowing that many dragon parents would have gotten rid of him before he was born.
“Lucky,” Miah said, “mine nearly ate me.”
“Well,” Cecil grinned, “no one will try to eat you here. You’ll have plenty of food as long as you behave.”
“Cory is teaching me.”
“Good, that’s all I ask.”

A deep sea Pacific footballfish washed up on shore in southern California. This species of angler fish lives in the Pacific Ocean at depths of 2,000 to 3,300 feet, where sunlight doesn’t penetrate. 📷: Ben Estes [rarity!!!]

We at Luat Co. are proud to announce the release of our newest model of jet fighter, the Sparrow! Featuring a pair of standard HE Missiles and a top speed of 360K KM/HR, this speedy bastard is fully automated and able to dodge even the most persistent enemy contacts. The secret to this incredibly high speed is our simulator having an incredibly wacky sense of scale and Neters incredibly thin atmosphere. Rest assured that it will fly circles around other aircraft of its class before getting gunned down by one ship with a laser cannon. (Pro-tip, you do not need to lead your shots when using a laser)

FairyLoot Unboxing
From the Depths June 2023
This month's theme is "From the Depths", and it's a really cohesive box with a nautical theme.
The featured book is "Sing Me to Sleep" by Gabi Burton. This is a mermaid book, apparently. I haven't heard of it, or the author. This is an amazing special edition. The dustjacket is very similar to the standard edition, sort of teal rather than the standard blue. But the hardcase is absolutely stunning - it's a soft touch artwork cover with an underwater theme. It also has sprayed edges matching the jacket, and two different artwork endpapers.
The first item is a cushion cover, inspired by "The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea". Honestly, this is hideous, it's blue and pink, and would probably be best suited to an eight-year-old's bedroom.
Next is a set of reusable face pads. This is a nice idea, but I haven't got time to wash and dry these every day, i'll stick with make up wipes. They're quite nice, they've got a wave pattern, and they're in a net bag.
Next we have a ceramic plate, inspired by "The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi". I think this might be part of a collection, because we've had another of these fairly recently. I love these, they're practical while still being very beautiful, and the design on this one is gorgeous. It's sort of reminiscent of the old willow pattern, but with a nautical theme.
And we have a tea strainer, based on "Daughter of the Pirate King". I like the design of these, but I wish they wouldn't repeat items so frequently, because I've got an almost identical one from a previous box, and it's not the kind of thing you need two of.
Lastly we have a pair of bookmarks. This is the last instalment in the mythology bookmark collection, and these ones feature Poseidon and Oshun. I love the design of these bookmarks, but I'm quite glad the collection is finished, because it's not a particularly exciting item to get.
This month's tarot cards are Achilles and Patroclus from "The Song of Achilles". These are my favourite so far, and I think they'll be popular.
There's not actually a lot I'll use in this box, but I'm feeling quite positive about it, because I think the book and the plate make up for the rest.

“Definitely,” he wrapped his arms around her waist. “A kiss for courage,” she leaned forward, giving him a closed lipped kiss on the mouth.
“Is that it?” he asked, his voice low and husky.
“For now,” she said, backing out of his arms with an impish grin on her face. “You have to talk to my dad before you get anything else.”
Caiden watched her run ahead of him and disappear around a curve in the path. He should have known that one day he’d meet a girl who would challenge him to put up or shut up. It would just be his luck that girl would be Cory’s daughter.
