Today: Oscar’s hotel room. Too-big bed. Oscar catalogues sensations. A part of his mind, cold and detached. His life on exhibition, behind safety glass. A sign: not too close, please.
Mattress, softer than he’d like. Linen, scented in a forgettable hotel way. Minty mouthwash fighting the horrid cinnamon gum, an overwarm taste he has come to know as Carlos.
Oscar spent time earlier, pulling different sounds from Carlos. Biting a point on Carlos’s neck, to feel the engine of him growling under Oscar’s own jaw. Minutes slipping onwards as he worked Carlos into a point of sharpened need.
Now, Carlos is sprawled out on his back, beneath Oscar. Their two faces flushed, breathing just a little heavier.
They’re both proud, and never like to let the effort show.

i dont blame other drivers for being mad at robin frijns simply for being robin frijns. he uses no references for breaking. he doesnt work out ever. he never gets sweaty after being in a race. he can do whatever endurance racing shift you give him. he can powernap in a car and wake up to do multiple overtakes for first in the space of 5 mins. he doesn't do track walks even if hes never raced on the track. his responses to most peoples suggestions on his past difficult races/faster teammates are ones of genuine confusion that anyone else thought that looked/felt that was challenging. he cant name a teammate he hasn't outpaced/beaten.
being in a series with him is like doing massive amounts of studying for a huge important test and getting a bad score and looking over at the guy who sleeps in class every day and eats food in the library during breaks and finding he's got a perfect grade. except this is your professional career you've been at since you were a teenager. hes genuinely just that naturally talented.

Things in my F1 DR
Okay so, I have been on a fix with my F1 DR and thought that I would share with you guys some things that happen and other little details.
To preface: I have not yet shifted to this DR but these are just things that I have scripted; I have scripted that I drive for Porsche F1 (replacing HAAS) and have an OC as my second driver; also, SV5 is my mentor/father figure/sponsor and I am the godmother of his kids
Lmk what you guys have scripted, I would love some more F1 shifter friends!!!
I currently live in Monaco but are renovating an Italian farmhouse
Jeremy Clarkson is our Team Principal??? (Still debating this one lmk what you guys think)
Seb’s kids always want to watch my races but they have no idea about time zones so if a race is happening during their bedtimes, Seb just records the race and plays it during the day and they think that it is live
I go on the Screaming Meals podcast and the boys (James, Clement & Marcus) dress up in dresses without telling me.
One of the drivers gets me a inflatable dinosaur suit for Secret Santa before the Abu Dhabi race (I have been talking about getting one throughout the year) and I walk around the paddock in it for fun.
Sebastian tells Lewis to keep an eye out for me when he can’t be there and he (Lewis) becomes like an uncle
My radio checks are almost exclusively quotes from movies
When I get super drunk I start talking in fluent Latin and my friends call it the “Exorcism Stage”
I can solve a Rubik’s Cube in under 20 seconds
I got my Bachelor’s Degree in engineering just for fun
My teammate and I do an advertisement/video for Uber (one of our sponsors) where we become Uber drivers in Porsches and deliver food (in our race suits and everything) and we turn it into a competition to see who gets the most clients
When I went to school in the UK (Same school as Lando) I lived with the Norris family and Lando is now like a big brother
Logan, Oscar and I were all roommates whilst at Prema together
I filled in for Charles Leclerc at Ferrari at the 2022 Silverstone Grand Prix (I scripted that he got sick and couldn’t race) and the protestors came on to the track just as I was going around and I said over the radio “Are they trying to be compost or something”
I don’t have a social media presence before joining F1 but have to have one as a part of my contract, but then I get my account access privileges revoked after a bunch of PR incidents
My teammate and I find a couple of those Razor indoor go karts and race them around the office
So yeh, that was just some of the stuff so far. Might do a part 2 if you guys want!?

me in 1987 - star trek the next generation RULES, this show is doing things i've never imagined, i love it
a bunch of wierd nerds for the last 30 years - wow s1 of tng is ROUGH compared to the later show
me for 30 years without regular access to rewatch the older episodes - well i have no reason to doubt them, i was six when farpoint aired
me now, going back and loving s1+2 for how fkn WIERD they are compared to how formal the structure of the later seasons became - man what the hell, i was right the first time, this absolutely rules
#tng#star trek the next generation#oldblogging#in s1 they didn't even have ten forward and all the civilian clothes were these absolutely wild late 80s jangly new wave designs#it was literally a completely different show and i can get it being jarring going back but it's actually super good and interestinG#meanwhile s2 does a shift in direction that the later seasons didn't really run with but ds9 DID which makes s2 also super interesting#but for a whole different set of reasons#the early show is actually my favorite at htis point#s3-7 were really where tng became the show everyone remember but part of finding that winning formula was taking less risks#like you can really see the sharp edges in s1-2 and those edges were what made ds9 sing#and moving away from the stately#demeanor of tng was what let voyager find it's own voice in it's own later run#like voyager 1+2 feel off vs 3-7 bc voy s1 feels like tng s8#it's not til s3 that voyager really gets it's own vibe going#and ds9 had the same growth cycle#where tng s1+2 are about finding a new voice for the new era#the rough patch on the other shows is about moving away from tng back towards that early experimental phase#so tldr season one of tng feels like voyager and season two of tng feels like ds9

Formula One Driver DR
Setting of the DR
This DR is set in 2023, May. It is a Tuesday, few days before the 7th race of the season. I have already won the Australian and Saudi Arabian races and got pole. I am a rookie at RedBull after being a reserve driver for about a year and a half.
About Me
Name: *my real name*
Birthday: September, 2000
Age: 23 years old
Languages: Polish, English, Spanish and Italian
Appearance: Long, blonde hair, dark blue eyes, pale skin with freckles and 175cm tall.
My racing career
I started karting when I was 6 years old and continued to climb through the industry.
I became the second driver for RedBull at the beginning of the 2023 season after being a reserve driver for a year and a half. I get hate for being a female F1 driver on the grid, a few people spread weird rumours about me online. (need to have my main character moment and have great comebacks)
I race with the polish flag, (project Kubica.v2 HAHA) and have nr. 5 as my race number.

Introducing...the artist series!
feat. a sneak peek of january's first piece, from Redline!
When I looked at my author progress in 2023, I saw a lot of room for improvement.
I tried to think of ways to bring my stories to life in new ways, and how my work can stand out amongst the sea of self-published authors. I noticed that most authors only provide artwork for their readers via book covers and the occasional (very expensive) special edition book.
In my mind, drawing and writing are inextricably linked. When I write, I'm capturing an image in my head with words. But there are plenty of other people on this planet who can actually put those images on paper... and I'm lucky enough to know dozens of them through tumblr, Instagram, and general internet-ness.
So, I thought, why not utilize that awesome fandom network and combine writing and drawing, while supporting artists at the same time?
And the artist series was born.
Through the support of my Patreon patrons, I'm commissioning drawings of my characters and stories each month from different artists to capture moments from the Redline series.
In the future, as my novel backlist expands and I have the chance to write more stories, I'll be commissioning art for those, too--all made possible by those who support my work. This way, I can give back to my supporters with amazing art, and support independent artists at the same time.
The first drawing in the artist series just went live on my Patreon, and I can't wait to see what this year brings.
And, if you know of a motorsport artist (or any digital artist) who has commissions open or may want to participate, please send them my way!

Some people don’t deserve to be parents
I am on yet another day and half shift and this 12 day old baby just came in with her bilirubin sky high and her weight super low (she’s still at birth weight and had lost weight since her fifth day of life) because THE FREAKING SHITS THAT CALL THEMSELVES HER PARENTS had been only breastfeeding her for 10 minutes every 3 hours and topping up with 20ml of formula BY CUP AND NOT BY BOTTLE and she’s so severely dehydrated she’s PEEING ONLY ONCE EVERY TWELVE HOURS
AND GUESS WHAT THE TOILET STAIN OF A FATHER SAID WHEN I WAS LIKE WHAT THE HECK DO YOU THINK A 12 DAY OLD BABY CAN DO WITH A CUP OF MILK
He was like Huh? I thought it was ok. The baby didn’t like drinking milk it’s not my fault
THIS IS THEIR SECOND CHILD HOW IS THE FIRST EVEN FREAKING ALIVE

God you can just plonk me in front of a spreadsheet and let em look at it like a toddler at an iPad I’ll be so content for hours on fucking end it’s great
#I’m cataloguing my fr lair it’s so fun#the spreadsheet I found will make graphs too#so every few ones I go over to the graph tab and look at the graphs#the gender ratio the shifting breed ratio#I used to do this but in a bitchy way at bad psych data#where there’d be like an obviously small effect or tiny sample#which means the data isn’t super good or wildly useful#and that needs to be noted at the end when the people say here’s what to do next time#except I graduated and can’t do school shit right now#and I was like I wanna see on graphs what I’m lacking#in my dragon pngs because of course I do#it’s so fun#I had to hide some of the less personally useful columns cause they break the formulas#but cest la vie#I got it working and I don’t feel stupid

Easily the worst part of working night shift is having to spend 30 minutes to an hour of every shift fixing all the things that day shift fucked up that they weren't even supposed to be touching in the first place.
#day shift comes in like#oh this baby formula that was already worked today wont fit on the shelf?#better stuff it behind the diapers so the diapers wont fit properly on the shelf#and no one will find the formula#oh this box of baby food on the backstock cart is perfectly organized?#better move it all around rip the box and break 2 of the jars without actually getting any of it to the shelf#because the shelf is full#because this store is shopped at almost exclusively by people over 70 so no one is buying fucking baby food#oh you organized this cart so that the old worn out boxes hold all the light weight stuff so it doesnt break#and the lighter items can be moved to the sturdier boxes as spaces opens up so the worn box can be recycled first?#better break down and throw away the new sturdy box and put all the heavy stuff in the worn out box#op

What do you mean he's not eldritch?
What if all of the members of the Bat Family other than Tim Drake were secretly eldritch abominations?
They all work very hard at pretending to be human, and they've even gotten pretty good at passing. They can even mostly avoid the uncanny valley when in their civilian identities. There was a heck of a learning curve, but they've gotten things figured out for the most part.
Enter: Tim Drake
Weird, poorly socialized, probably autistic Tim Drake
The Bats think they've encountered a fellow eldritch being in disguise, and one that seems like he could use some help blending in. Naturally, they're quick to welcome him into their fold. Jason is delighted to take his turn at being a big brother mentor.
It takes a comedically long time for anyone to realize something's up because there is an absurd amount of overlap between stuff you need to know for masking and stuff you need to know to pass as human.
Meanwhile, Tim is amazed that the Bats have apparently decided he's cool enough to hang out with. It's like something out of his daydreams. They even have good advice for him on problems he hadn't known how to ask about. They are so patient and understanding about it, too. They never get annoyed with him for not already knowing. They also seem to be okay with the bits of weirdness he can't change.
Just weird kid Tim getting bundled into an incredibly helpful and supportive found family of eldritch entities. They're all going to get a good grade in human-ing, something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve.
...
I imagine the Bats are various different kinds of eldritch abominations because they're still adopted. They look wildly different when not in human form.
Bruce is a mass of... shadows? Smoke? Something dark and formless that shifts and flows in different ways depending on his mood.
Dick kind of looks like a pile of owls that is also somehow a single body.
Barbara is a spiral galaxy with stars that are also eyes somehow?
Jason is a solid-looking mass of muscle with six strong legs, a thick coat of shaggy hair, a mouth that opens much further along his body than it seems like it should, and even more teeth than you'd expect a mouth that size to have.
Stephanie Brown is kind of like an incredibly dense storm system with purple glitter.
Cassandra is a silhouette through which undiscovered nebulae can be seen. What she is a silhouette of depends on her mood.
Tim, they have only ever seen in his meticulously well-crafted human form. He's really good at that part even if he needed some help with the behavioral bits.
Damian is half human. Talia saw a mass of living darkness trying really hard to pretend to be a man and decided she was into that.

Dick: So, eye contact is actually pretty simple once you have the formula figured out. You need to cycle between looking at the other person and looking at something else at the appropriate frequency. If you look at them too much it will come across as staring. If you look away for too long they'll think you're not paying attention to them. You'll need to experiment to figure out the appropriate frequency.
Tim: *frets*
Jason: You don't have to look straight at their eyes, just in the general direction of their face.
Tim: Oh! I can do that!
...
I think Eldritch Bruce having history with the league of assassins in a markedly less inentional way than Canon would be funny. Like, you'd think an encounter between an eldritch abomination and a cult would be deliberate on someone's part, but no.
Bruce was still young and unskilled at differentiating between normal and abnormal human behavior.
