He doesn't really find your interest bothersome just more of a "If you have any questions ask Jade." type of deal.
Although he'd be really thrown off if you suddenly wanted to start talking about Octopusses.
If you start ranting he would gladly listen to what information you have (and maybe make a contract so he can find information he doesn't have). He could also use this time to get blackmail unless it's something he already knows.
In a romantic sense, I feel he'd be a little upset and insecure if you talk about Moray Eels constantly. (SHOW HIM SOME LOVE TO SMH)
Overall is not really bothered but will exploit your information as blackmail.
Jade
He finds your interest in Moray eels adorable. He tries to answer any questions you may have he will tease you a little bit about your interest, but in return, you listen to him talk about mushrooms (Think of it as an information exchange). If you ask to see his eel form he'd be like "Oh? you wish to see my eel form?" he'd show you it since you asked nicely but would also give you a water-breathing potion so you can explore whatever body of water Octavinelle has.
I can imagine if you ask a myth about eels and he debunks It "Erm actually 🤓☝️" (joke)
Overall he'd be more helpful than Floyd would be
Floyd
Depending on Floyd's mood he will either be impressed and intrigued or annoyed.
So it's a 50/50 if you wanna ask questions. (Very helpful Floyd)
Although when you do have questions he'd either send you to Jade or drag you to the Octavinelle equivalent of an ocean. If you complain about clothes getting wet or the water being cold he'd be like, "Whaat? You asked."
If he's in a bad mood he would probably shoo you away or make some lie up leaving you to go find Jade.

Lilia
Lilia finds your interest amuzing. If he knows any information he'll give it to you if you ask nicely if he doesn't then he will help you get information by either going to Jade or reading about it via online or the library books.
He would gladly listen to your rants and whatever information you have to share he may even teach you a thing or two about Fae's.
Imagine him playing the Overwatch or Valorant equivalent (We are not a Fortnite household) clacking away on his keyboard while listening to you talk about how Moray Eels have poor eyesight so they need their nose (They have really good noses btw) to help them navigate.
And then it causes questions as to why Jade and Floyd aren't wearing glasses on land.

Disabled Aelwyn who uses crutches.
Aelwyn who can’t go back to school to finish her wizzard studies, who starts researching different ways to bend magic to her will.
Aelwyn, who has always had a knack for creating new spells, starting to tinker at her own crutches, weaving wards into the framework.
Aelwyn, for who good is not good enough, caves and asks Gorgug for help. Who finds a way to make her crutches extend, bend and move to support her arms, elbows, shoulders. Makes them connect to her back, her hips, down her legs .
They no longer look much like crutches anymore, it’s a thin, light framework that supports her entire body, that moves her exactly the way she wants, that allows her to stand with her back straight for more than 5 minutes for the first time in two years. The exoskeleton glows with abjurative runes and the outline of a powerfull ward is visible over her body, deflecting blows like steel armor.
New spells rest in her memory, mechanical and precise if nature in a way that the arcane inks in her spelbook can’t articulate. Spare the Dying, Resistance, Cure Wounds, Sanctuary.
Her joints still ache, she tires fast and even after all this time it is still hard to control the venom in her words, still hard to accept help and kindness without it feeling like a wool blanket on freshly flayed skin. But she has found something that is wholly hers, found something to be proud of that isn’t tinged with approval from her parents.
Aelwyn still can’t walk without support, but the frame folding her up is crafted by her own hands. Maybe everything will be allright.

Neuvi - landing on his left knee
There's the riddle from Enkanomiya with the vishap who broke his leg -let's say Neuvi has. But which one? He almost always has his cane in his right hand - the cane should go on the opposite side than the painful limb for a normal walking pattern.
But if the cane is in his right hand and his left leg should be hurt, why land on the left? He may be a bit masochistic - he would rather have this one taking the hit again. Or, think of how it is to stand up from that position. His right leg will push him up (aka the uninjured one).
Wrio - landing on his right knee
During his AA-seq., his right hand and leg are more dominant to hit with. Maybe he's used to having his right knee getting the hard stuff. As w Neuvi, maybe he rather takes dmg on st that is already fucked up, using the other to stand up. Or…
Look how his left leg is his stable point (ult very good example) - what if his right can't be that bc he has hurt it too much before? (Think of stability problem.) He has very fast footwork in 2nd-4th AAs. But in 1st, 2nd, and 5th AA, skill, and ult, he uses his left side as the pillar.
Conclusion: some things are controversial but imo they both land on the leg they hurt. (And for better angst, put self-depreciative mental reasons behind too bc why not.)
Feel free to use these facts&HCs in yours - I certainly will(🙂😈). I could write an essay about this with exactly named medical conditions but who would even care haha:))

I just don't get the argument that banning AI-generated works from ao3 would be pointless because people will continue to post AI works but stop labelling them as such, so they'll be harder to avoid. You can say that about literally any crime. There are always going to be people who ignore the rules, but that doesn't mean the rules should not exist.
Right now, AI-generated works are a novelty. People are posting them openly because it seems like fun. The posters of these fics (I will not call them authors) aren't trying to cheat anyone, they just find the concept neat and want to share them with others, but they're not actually trying to receive praise for something they didn't do.
The people who are trying to pass AI-generated works off as genuine fanworks are already doing so. If 50% of AI works currently on the archive are marked as such, and 50% are not, then banning AI works would result in the openly-AI works being removed. Of those, perhaps half of the people posting them would be so determined to do so anyway that they'll lie and repost them less-conspicuously—but that's still 25% fewer AI works on the archive. (and frankly I think this is being very generous about the number of genuine grifters)
Placeholder "fic to be written" works, "help me find this fic" works, and other works that treat the archive like a social media site are already against the terms of service. These can and do get reported and taken down. If you're a regular user of the archive you'll know that works like this still get posted on a pretty regular basis, but the fact that they're generally known to be against the TOS means there is a precedent to stop them becoming more commonplace.
AI-generated works are not fanworks. They simply aren't. They have no place taking up server space and pushing genuine creators further down in the search results, making it just a little bit harder for authors starting out to get noticed. They don't belong there any more than advertisements for discord servers or future fics.
The only other concern I've seen expressed is that genuine inexperienced authors might get mistaken for AI-posters and reported. Personally, I think it's still pretty easy to tell the difference between the structurally perfect but utterly soulless prose of AI and the error-ridden works of inexperienced human authors, but assuming that changes...it's already basically impossible to get fics taken down that don't openly admit to breaking the rules. These reports are assessed by real people and the Archive's policy is maximum inclusiveness when there is any doubt whatsoever.
If all a ban on AI-works does is remove the hundreds of fics that are currently open about being AI-generated, that is already enough for it to be a good thing, even if it does lead to a few more being posted in secret

My memory is rusty on the series, all I remember is that Varian gets thrown in prison, Cassandra is the bad guy, gets defeated and redeemed. Oh Varian gets redeemed and gets placed in a cage being held over an abyss??? I THINK?
Ayways, the potential. This could be set a day or so after Atlas' funeral. Mordecai sees Atlas as a father figure. When he died, Mordecai was...feeling a lot of things actually. Going to Marigold as a secret spy to who killed Atlas.
I like to think this is the beginning of the Marigold!Mordecai arc. Then Ready As I'll Ever Be (somehow) then Crossing the Line and finally Nothing Left to Lose.

But it could also be Opportunity, after all we’ve all heard the saying ‘I can open the door for you, but You have to pass through’. And a door can represent Choice, because ultimately it is up to that character whether or not they choose to go through. In chainsaw man, the door represents All of these things. ”

“ Denji sits in a grave yard awaiting makima and her people. He addressed makima and asks her a simple question. In the perfect world that she’s trying to create, will bad movies still exist. She responded that the world would be better without them. And he decides that if that’s the case, he has to kill her.
This simple question is a masterclass in subtle writing. On the surface it’s just a question about movies, but it’s so much more than that. It’s a clashing of their fundamental ideals as well as a sign of major character development.
If we asked denji in the dumpster this same question, I’m sure he would agree with makima. Dumpster denji was blinded by grief and unable to see past that pain. He lost sight of anything beyond what he already experienced and decided the pain he felt did not outweigh the positives he gained, the food he ate, the video games he played, the Family he found, none of it was worth the pain of losing them. He believed he would have been happier if he never knew any of that, and continued living in poverty, Ignorant of Anything Better. Denji lost the will to go on. He’s so broken up about losing power and aki, that he feels like it’s just his time to die. He got what he wanted out of life and he doesn’t need anything more.
By becoming chainsaw man, denji opened a door that led into this life. Denji had a choice way back then, to continue being chainsaw man or to be killed by makima. By choosing to join public safety, denji stepped through that door, and opened himself up to all of the pain associated with those experiences.
Dumpster denji would have rather left that door closed. But denji has had time to process everything that’s happened. He’s had time to process about what he’s gained, what he stands to loose, and what he still has to experience.
Life itself is a series of doors and denji stands before one now. That door represents the Unknown hidden behind it, the infinite possibilities available after opening it, the Past he has to confront, the Future still ahead of him, the Ignorance he stands to loose, the Opportunity he stands to gain, and the Choice he has to make. Denji knows that if he goes through that door, he risks being hurt worse than he is now, but there’s also a chance that he’ll come out on the other side happier than he ever knew was possible.
Makima wants to knock that door off its hinges. She wants to remove the possibility of pain, by getting rid of anything bad in the world. But Denji knows better. Experiencing pain and happiness go hand in hand. You can’t understand the good without experiencing the bad. You have to watch 9 bad movies before you can truly appreciate 1 good movie. That’s why denji has to defeat makima and walk through that door. ”

Ok I feel like this is gonna be like super problematic or something but I feel like I should just get it out. I welcome comments, discussion, reblogs, and tags.
I find it really hard to talk about my own culture, because white (as in American/Canadian/British/Australian/etc) people talking about their culture has become such a taboo. And understandably so, to be fair, because due to colonization, there are a lot of cultural things that are no longer specific, and are now global in several other cultures that wouldn't otherwise have them.
I often see people in fandom from so many different countries and cultures take characters and put them in their culture: wearing certain clothes, eating certain food, doing certain activities, and so on, and I LOVE it. I love people exploring their love for their own culture and their love for their blorbo(s) at the same time. There's so much joy in it.
There's been several times where I wanted to join in, but felt like I couldn't because I "don't have a culture", as a white British person. But that's just completely untrue? I DO have a culture. It's not one that most people seem to care about, but I do. Sunday dinners, chip shops, pantomimes. Despite growing up in England, my dad is Scottish and I visited his side of the family up in Aberdeen on a regular basis, so kilts (they were worn by most if not all of the men at the first two weddings I remember attending) and bagpipes (I LOVE the sound, they're beautiful when played well) are also on there for me. My accent is a part of my culture too, and I genuinely love my accent (my strange little combination of RP and East Midlands that has people asking me if I'm Canadian...). Don't even get me started on the food (yes it's pretty bland and looks very boring but done right it's tasty and it's filling, yes i think it's stupid as hell that the british empire colonised a bunch of places in order to get spices and now a lot of white people in the UK don't even USE most of those spices)
With a little more thinking, I could probably list a lot more, but I feel like I can't so much as mention it off-handedly without someone showing up out of the woodwork to make fun of lower-class British accents (like when people say "bri'ish" (although I enjoy it when it's used in a neutral and fun way) or when people just completely fuck up and bastardise whichever already-discriminated-against English accent they're making fun of this time - honestly I think RP could stand to be made fun of a bit a lot more), or to make fun of the spices issue (like I said before YES it's stupid, do you think I colonised those countries myself????) and make horrid over-the-top gagging noises whenever "UK" and "food" are so much as mentioned in the same sentence.
I mean look at this. I just wanted to talk about my culture and how it affects me and I feel like I have to have such a huge lead-up and THEN I still feel the need to explain that the british empire sucked and that a lot of our food is quite bland etc etc etc.
With other (non-English speaking/non-white) cultures, people can just mention things and dress their favourite characters in traditional clothes and it's lovely and celebrated. Please keep doing this. Please put your favourite characters in your culture, there is NOTHING more joyful in fandom spaces than spreading your love of your own culture through characters that you also love.
I'd like to join in, is all. I'm not asking for the red carpet to be rolled out for me, I just feel like someone's gonna attack me if I mention my faves enjoying my favourite British food.
But even asking this feels like I'm being White(tm) and throwing a tantrum and whining "WHAT ABOUT MEEE?!?!?!?!" - this is NOT what I'm trying to do here. I don't need attention for it. Honestly the less attention I get the better, it feels like. I've seen some british hate on here that is genuinely horrible and disturbing. And sure, it's deserved for all of the colonisation and the many attrocities, but I didn't choose to be born here????? YES it's terrible but I'm tired of being the punching bag of everything that my country (countries?) have ever done wrong.
Is this entitled of me? It doesn't feel like it, but reading through this post, it kinda looks like it. Am I just insane and paranoid? Maybe. I don't know.

been thinking about what The Glass Menagerie would be like if it was set in 2023.
Laura's life would probably be the most dramatically improved. She could deal with her social anxiety by just. Making friends online. She could have a discord boyfriend. She could find a job or get a degree online. She would have a tumblr blog called "blueroses" with the title "My Glass Menagerie" that was just pictures of her glass figures and occasionally an audio post with a song from one of her dad's records (or cassettes, or CDs, or whatever).
Amanda...honestly there's like a 50/50 chance she wound wind up in a pyramid scheme, considering the whole "selling magazine subscriptions" thing. But I feel like she'd still worry about her kids finding their place in the world. She'd worry about Laura not spending enough time outside, maybe she'd have some reservations about finding Laura a husband IRL. Maybe she'd get onto Tom for being on that damn phone so much.
For Tom, in this au i'm imagining him still working his minimum-wage job, but rather than writing poems on shoeboxes he's got a blog or something to post them on. Maybe even a niche following. Honestly not much of his life would change, because the whole "working a dead-end job, living with my family, desperate to go out on my own" thing is uh. Pretty timeless. Even when he leaves at the end (we're assuming the events of the play still happen as they originally did, even if the circumstances are different) it's not quite as sad, because Amanda and Laura have a better chance at supporting themselves than women would have back then.
Jim's a weird one because I feel like his life would also stay the same, except since we're setting this in 2023 he DEFINITELY has a self-help/positivity/motivational instagram. Wannabe influencer vibes. Despite the fact that he is working at the same place Tom is, but higher up the chain (like a manager or something). Dude totally has a podcast.
Nothing needs to change with Mr. Wingfield. People still work for telephone companies and run out on their families.
The fact that social media would exist in this AU does allow for some interesting commentary. Maybe Tom has a twitter where he posts his poems? Maybe Laura got cyberbullied in high school? How would the added visibility and connection to the world affect the Wingfields, whose suffering is largely due to how isolated they are in the original play? How would the lessened limitations on women in the workplace today compared to the 20s-30s affect the plot?
(Projecting my own interests here but I also think she would relate to Bocchi the Rock. Puking on the floor on your first day of typing class 🤝 performing your first concert in a cardboard box and regularly climbing into trash cans.)

I’ve tried finding joy in the Gus, Willow, and Hunter trio, and I don’t know if it’s my current state of mind or what but it just doesn’t seem to click.
It will just forever feel to me like three seperate dynamics tossed together. There’s Gus and Hunter and their brother thing, and there’s Gus and Willow best friends since forever, and there’s Willow and Hunter with their friendship and/or romance.
Who knows, maybe it’s just that I’ve seen too much Huntlow and it’s internalized now that Willow and Hunter are a separate thing. Seen too many posts about the tow being Gus’ parents, or doting on him, or stopping their dates to hang out with him.
Maybe I just need to see it on screen so I can see them as equals instead of Gus + the two older kids hanging out with him.
I have this theoretical version of it in my brain, where Gus is just as influential on Hunter and the other way around, and they can all just banter and have fun without Gus being the inevitable plus one that he is even when posts assure me that Huntlow would put their dates aside to hang out with Gus. (Maybe I’m just mixing him and me up so that’s why it feels patronizing.)
I’ve never really been the best at creating things for myself. Seeing them the way I think of them on the screen might be the spark I need to Get it.
Maybe.
I just think there’s a loneliness in your main friend group all pairing up even if you have a friend of your own outside.
Think there’s a loneliness in going from a trio of equals to a trio where one person is your older brother and your other friend shows her two years of age over you when she’s talking to him. Think there’s a loneliness in seeing how that other friend from the old trio spends so much time now with her girlfriend when it used to be you. Think there’s a loneliness in how the one friend your age isn’t in the same group and is probably still on some of their bad sides.
But I’m probably just projecting. Like in season one when I thought Gus’ conflict was loneliness, not being a gifted kid, focusing on the part of his line in the detention pit where he talked about it being hard to make friends, pushing aside grom and how the quote was about moving up a grade and how he went for the oracle sphere to ask how he could improve himself.
I kinda hope I’m just projecting and that he’s got a good group of friends. Though looking back on labyrinth runners and through the looking glass ruins and even something ventured someone framed, I think it is a theme that his being a prodigy is linked inherently to a loneliness, and how being set above your peers means you’re set apart as well.
Maybe I’ll make a meta post about that later. clean it up and pretend like he has friends now that make it all better and like I don’t think they can be the best friends ever and he can still be alone because they have other more important people that are their age. because even though age isn’t everything he knows it’s still a gap. and because the one person his age he’s friends with is still on his other friends’ bad side for all he knows.
Maybe I’m just tired and lonely
