Genre: Pure Fluff
Pairing: Joel Pimentel x Reader (Y/N)
Words: 1963
Tumblr media
I looked at the clock again, it was 2 am and I just couldn’t sleep. I just couldn’t get comfortable, my back hurt, my legs hurt, and I had to pee very 2 minutes. Soft snores made me look to the side, ugh lucky jerk. His chest rose and fell so calmly, his handsome face so serene. Why did he get to sleep so smoothly?
Being almost 9 months pregnant was not an easy task, and as my due date approached, I was even more and more miserable. Every task was almost impossible to do, everything required so much effort and I felt so tired all the time.
Despite the hardships, I was so beyond the moon to be a mother, I couldn’t wait to finally hold my baby in my arms. To top it off I had an amazing husband who was by my side at every step: through every morning sickness, and every weird craving, every hormonal break downs and even threw my crazed nesting phase. I had him painting and fixing the nursery like a mad man, and I’m sure I drove him crazy at times, but he never lost his patience and never argued back. I really didn’t deserve this man.
But watching him sleep so peacefully, when I couldn’t only made me angry, and I felt the urge to elbow him in the ribs to wake him up and make him suffer with me. Just as I was about to do so, I felt a sudden gush of moisture between my legs. That can’t be my water breaking I’m still 2 weeks away from my due date…its not time oh god I’m not ready for this. My heart began to race, and I couldn’t believe that all the reading I had done in the past 8 months has gone completely out the window now that I’m here. Now that I need that information. My breathing began to get crazy and at that moment the only thing I could think of was to wake up my husband.
“Babe”, I whispered. Why am I whispering I was about to elbow him not even 2 minutes ago and now I’m whispering?
“Joel”, I said loudly. He began to stir but still didn’t wake up. “BABE WAKE UP”, oh god is that a contraction I’m feeling? It can’t be its just m head plying with me.
“What, what Mami what is it?” he sat up immediately, his features slightly visible from the small amount of light coming from the clock on my side table. He had worry written all over him, and I don’t know what my face looked like but as soon as he caught my expression his concerned tripled. “Baby what is it? did you have a bad dream?”
I shook my head; my heart and my breathing were out of control. He placed his hands on my cheeks and brought my face toward his, “baby please try to calm down, slow deep breaths please Mami just relax, what’s wrong?” he placed soft sweet kisses on my lips.
“I…I think it’s time”, I double over in pain, ok Ya that was a freaking contraction. “What?” He’s looking at me in utter shock. “But its not time yet”, “I know”, I tell him. “But I don’t think the baby knows that”.
He’s the one in shock now, he’s breathing is becoming erratic. We can’t both afford to lose our shit right now at least one of us has to keep their head straight, and by the lost look in his eyes, that person is going to have be me.
“ok, well its ok we have time baby, get my bag please, call Chris and Mandy, they will let everyone else know” I started to climb out of bed, the best I could. Joel was still motionless on the bed. I walked over to his side and placed a few kisses on his head. “Baby, what’s wrong, I’m gana need you to drive me to the hospital so could you please come back to me?”, I whispered to him.
“I’m gana be a dad”, he whispered with such awe. “Yeah, silly you barely realizing it” I laughed lightly.
“What if I’m not a good dad?” he questioned, finally looking at me, I saw his eyes filled with tears.
“Joel”, I took his hands and placed them on my belly. “Can you feel that? that’s your baby and he loves you so much. Baby you already are an amazing dad, you’ve fixed our baby’s room with so much love and dedication and you’ve been so amazing though my whole pregnancy. Your baby is so lucky to have you as a dad”. The tears in his eyes had spilled over and I was sporting some of my own.
Just than another contraction hit I doubled over again and that snapped him into action. In a blur of movements, I changed into comfy and warm sweats and a sweatshirt. By the time I was ready he had my bag and purse over his shoulder the car seat in place in the car, with keys in hand he led me outside and strapped me in the seat.
“Ok I need you to hurry, it hurts oh my god this hurts so much”, I was losing my cool again at this point and even though the hospital wasn’t too far away I needed to get here now.
“I gana get you the soon hermosa, just keep breathing remember just like we practiced”, Joel’s tone was so calm and soothing but at this moment I couldn’t careless I was in so much pain.
“Breathe my ass, Pimentel I need the hospital NOW”, I was screaming by the time we pulled up to the emergency room. Some how Chris and Mandy had beaten us here. Mandy rushed to my side and opened the door.
“How you are doing hot mama?”, she took my hands and helped me out of the car, there was a nurse with a wheelchair ready for me. “I’m not doing good, oh my god I can’t do this I can’t Mandy”. I was so scared my body was shaking, “hey hey, yes you can girl you’re so strong and just think about it in a little bit you’ll have your baby in your arms and it will all be worth it”. She brushed some hair from my face, she was always such a sweet friend. Joel Rushed to my side, and carefully helped me sit on the chair. Chris took off to park the car and the rest of us were rushed inside.
“You’re doing so great Mami”, Joel whispered as he wiped some sweat from my forehead. I had been in labor for almost 6 hours, and I still needed a couple more centimeters to go. The pain has been excruciating and I feel like my body is about to give out. Joel hasn’t moved once from my side, whispering sweet words of encouragement the whole time. “Baby, you got this, you’re so strong so amazing”. He leaned into me and kissed my forehead and my cheeks. “I love you so much mi Reina”. I smiled at him and kissed his sweet full lips; I was about to return the sentiment when another contraction hit “ahhh I would say I love you too but at the moment I quite hate you…” I squeezed my eyes shut and squeezed his hand again. “Ow baby, you’re hurting my hand that’s painful”. I glared at him, “you don’t know what pain is” I glowered.
“Ok, looks like were about ready to start pushing Mrs. Pimentel”. I turned to look at Joel, I felt so scared what if something went wrong? He always seemed to be able to read my mind, placing his hands on my belly he said, “everything will be ok, this little blessing will be in our arms so soon Chiquita. I’m right here we’ll do this together ok”
“Ok here is the next contraction and I need you to push with all your strength Mrs. Pimentel”, the doctor and the nurse were all ready and waiting for me to start pushing. As the pain came, I pushed with everything I had.
I don’t know how many times I pushed or how many times Joel placed soft kisses to my temple as I screamed in pain. When everything seemed just too much to bear, I heard the loud cry of my little baby. Focusing again on everything around me I saw Joel’s expression of pure awe and happiness. “Congratulations, you have a baby boy”, said the doctor, “Dad would you like to cut the umbilical cord?”. I laughed breathlessly at his childlike over excited nod. I watched my husband cut the cord and he looked up at me. “He’s beautiful”.
As the nurse and the doctor took him to check and clean him, Joel came to my side again. “Thank you”, I whispered to him. I took his hand once more and kissed it. “I’m sorry if I hurt you”. He laughed and kissed me soundly. “Baby you could’ve ripped off my arm and hit me with it and I wouldn’t care less I feel so happy, and I’m so grateful for you. You are such an amazing woman Nena, so strong and beautiful. We’re parents!”. I smiled at him and caressed his face. “Yes, we are, and I couldn’t have done it without you by my side”. I whispered to him. As we kissed the nurse brought my baby to me. She placed him in my arms, and I couldn’t believe he was finally here. As looked at his little features he opened his eyes, and I swear I fell in love in that instant. He has his fathers’ eyes, so beautiful brown and warm.
“He’s so small”, Joel whispered as he grabbed his little fingers. “I know I whispered back. “He’s so beautiful, he’s perfect. Just like his daddy”, I said looing up at my husband, I noticed tears running down his face. “What’s wrong?” I said. He shook his head, “nothing baby im just so happy and so in love with my little family. I promise you I will be the best father I can be, and the best husband too.
“Aww sweetheart, you already are. You’ve been so amazing since the day I met you and I’m so excited to begin this new chapter together”. We kissed again and our little baby began to coo. We both looked down at him and smiled as tears ran down our face. Just then Joel’s phone began to ring.
“Hello” He laughed, “Ya, I’ll be right there”. He hung up and turned to me. “Everyone out there is going crazy they want to me the newest member of our family”. I laughed too. I can imagine Chris, Mandy, Zabdiel, Eric, Richard, Catalina, Alexa, My parents, my in-laws and just about everyone that knows us in the waiting area of the hospital.
“You better go get them than babe, before they get kicked out of the hospital all together”. Joel laughed again and he gave us both a kiss as he stepped out of the room.
“You’re in for a treat baby”, I whispered to my son, “you’re about to meet the craziest people on earth but they will love you so much. We are all going to love you and take care of you. Daddy and I will always love you and protect you I promise”. I kissed him again and looked into his alert sparkling brown eyes. My Son, I had an amazing loving husband now I had our son in my arms. I couldn’t ask more form life. I had everything I needed to be happy.

Tumblr media
You were watching tv, no clue what just happened in the house down the street, when there was a knock on the door.
You got up, groaning. Who would be here this late?
You opened the door, somewhat annoyed, until you saw that it was... Greg?
It was Greg, the young boy from down the street, with tears in his eyes.
You immediately wrapped an arm around him, leading him inside, “Woah, kid, what’s wrong?”
As the two of you sat back down on the couch, he choked out an answer, “R-Rodrick.”
“What did he do this time? Want me to beat his ass for you?"
A small smile crossed your face when you were able to make the boy chuckle.
He explained that him and Rodrick had a great night together but things went bad once they got home. He said that their parents found the pictures from the party last week, which you had attended, and both the boys got it trouble. But that wasn't why Greg was crying. He was crying because Rodrick was disappointed in him and said some hurtful things.
You didn't push any further. Greg was a tough kid, most of the time, so whatever Rodrick said must've been really bad.
"Wait," you said after a few minutes, "Do your parents know you're here?"
"N-no. I snuck out."
"Greg, you can't do that," you said sternly. You weren't angry, just worried.
"You and Rodrick both sneak out all the time," He tried to reason.
"That's different. We're both old enough to take care of ourselves. No offense, but you're still just a kid. If your parents find out they're gonna be worried sick."
"Can I just stay for a while longer? Please? Besides if they find out I'm gone, they'll probably check here first."
It was true. Greg and Rowley would come to your house sometimes, just to have a different place to hang out. Your parents were away a lot of the time so it worked out.
You were Greg's babysitter when he was in 5th and 6th grade. Ms. Heffley knew you were a responsible kid and she didn't exactly want Rodrick in charge. Now he's in 7th and he's trusted a bit more so you didn't have to take care of him anymore. During that time was when you and Greg got close. The two of you became friends.
You had gotten pretty close with Rodrick too. Especially since you had a lot of the same classes in school. The two of you had similar interests so you would hang out sometimes.
Of course, you couldn't say no to Greg.
You two sat and watched whatever he wanted to watch. You told him that he could have whatever he wanted from the kitchen, it didn't matter. He immediately searched for ice cream, making you laugh.
Soon there was another knock on the door. This time you looked out the peep hole.
"It's Rodrick," you whispered to Greg.
"I'm not here!" He whispered back, running up the stairs.
You waited until he was all the way upstairs, before you opened the door, "Rodrick? Hey, what's up?"
He looked back at you with panicked eyes, "(Y/n), you gotta helped me."
You ushered him in, just as you had done with his younger brother not long ago, and you two sat down. "Of course, what is it?"
"Well I- me and Greg got into a fight I guess? I said some stuff I shouldn't have. I- Fuck, (Y/n), I messed up... I took it too far."
You gently put a hand on his knee, "Hey, relax. You're okay. What do you mean you took it too far?"
"I told him that... I said 'you might be my brother, but you'll never be my friend'. W-We got in trouble for something and I got mad at him. Obviously I don't mean it, i-it just kinda slipped out."
"Okay, well, we both how Greg is. I'm sure he'll understand if you just tell him and apologize. You two will be fine," you offered him a soft smile.
To your surprise, he shook his head.
"That's not what I need your help with."
"Oh," was all you could say.
"I went to check on him a while ago because he's never been in this much trouble, I wanted to make sure he was okay. Mom and Dad were already asleep. I- I went into his room and... and he was gone. (Y/n), I don't know what to do."
You pulled him into a hug, him quickly latching onto you. You gently ran your fingers through his hair. "It's okay Rodrick. I'll help you find him."
Of course, you knew where he was. But you wouldn't give away Greg's spot if he didn't want you too.
Rodrick looked up at you, "You will?"
"Of course, let me get a jacket and we'll go."
You went up the stairs and into your room, where Greg was sitting on your bed.
"Dude, he-"
"I heard all of it. I understand."
"Oh good," you said, waking to your closet to get a jacket, "So, do you forgive him?"
"Of course, he's my brother," The two of you smiled.
As you pulled on your jacket, you asked, "Well what do you wanna do? He's ready to go searching for you."
"Maybe you two can drive around for a while and come back, and i'll just be on the sidewalk around here? I don't know, I just don't him to get at you for lying." He suggested.
You thought about it, nodding.
"Okay... but be careful, alright? Stay in here for like 15 minutes, then you can go out."
You went back downstairs and grabbed your keys. Rodrick followed you out and into your car.
"He couldn't have gone far, right?" He asked, bouncing his knee up and down.
"Nah, i'm sure he stayed close. Lets just check the neighborhood, yeah?" You said.
You drove around, one hand on the steering wheel and the other on the center console where Rodrick was holding it tightly.
--
"H-he can't be gone. (Y/n), he can't!"
Of course, you haven't "found" Greg yet. Rodrick was freaking out.
You pulled over and pressed a soft kiss to his knuckles, his hand still in yours.
"Hey, Rod, it's okay. We'll find him, I promise."
Rodrick shook his head, his eyes becoming glossy. You felt bad for letting him believe Greg was really gone for so long, but you told Greg you'd stick with his plan. And you were true to your word.
"What if we don't?" His voice cracked.
"We will, I promise. But it's getting late and you should rest. We'll go looking for him first thing in the morning. I bet you he probably went to Rowley's house."
"Yeah... yeah, that makes sense," Rodrick nodded. "Thank you."
"You know I'd do anything for you. For Greg, too. I love that kid."
Rodrick smiled, hearing you speak so fondly of his younger brother. In that moment, he knew everything would work out.
You started driving back to the cul-de-sac you guys lived on. Rodrick leaned his head against the window and started to dose off, his hand still holding yours tightly.
Then you saw it. Greg walking on the sidewalk, just like he said he would.
"Rodrick! Dude!" You shook him awake.
"Huh? What?" He woke up, startled.
"Look!" You pointed over to Greg while pulling over.
Rodrick saw him and as soon as you stopped the car, he opened the door and stumbled out.
"Greg!" He called out to his younger brother.
Before Greg could even turn around, Rodrick had him engulfed in a hug. The display of affection obviously took Greg by surprised.
"Don't ever do that again," Rodrick paused, trying to come up with some sort of insult, "... dumbass."
"I won't, I promise."
You watched as the two brothers smiled at each other. A rare occurrence for sure, but a nice one.
Rodrick lightly pushed Greg towards the car and they both got in.
"Hey (Y/n)." Greg said from the back seat.
"Hey, kid, glad you're safe," You smiled back at him.
"Yeah."
"Had this guy close to bursting into tears," You snickered, gesturing towards Rodrick and trying to lighten the mood.
"Don't tell him that!" Rodrick mumbled as he nudged your arm. This only made you and Greg giggle more.
You saw a smile form on Rodrick's lips, despite him trying to hide it. Laughter was, indeed, contagious.
You poked his cheek, making him chuckle.
You started to drive towards the Heffley house, the mood in the car now light and playful. You pulled into their driveway and unlocked the doors.
"Go inside, twerp. I'll catch up." Rodrick said.
"Okay," Greg smiled, getting out and heading towards the door.
"(Y/n)... thank you." Rodrick said, his voice softer as he looked down at his shoes.
"For what?"
"I dunno, everything. I mean, who would get up in the middle of the night and help some loser look for their little brother?"
"Oh c'mon, Rodrick. I'd go to the ends of the earth for you or that kid. It's no big deal, really." You said.
"It is to me. Thank you," He finally looked up at you, and you could see the sincerity in his eyes.
"Anytime."
"Can I- um... can I try something?" He asked. His eyes darted away from you for a split second.
"Well, uh, yeah. Sure." You said, curious to as what wants to do.
Suddenly, Rodrick put his hand on your cheek and leaned in. You felt his lips press against yours softly and closed your eyes. The kiss lasted only a little bit, but it felt much longer.
You couldn’t lie. It felt amazing. Kissing Rodrick just felt so... right. It’s like your lips were made for each other.
He pulled back a little and you smiled, laughing softly.
"Is- Is that a good thing?" He asked.
"I dunno, you tell me."
You leaned in and kissed him again. He was quick to kiss back. Eventually you leaned back.
"You should get inside," Another kiss, "Don't want you getting in more trouble."
Rodrick's usual confidence came back and he smirked, "If it's for you, it's worth it."
"Shut up!" You laughed.
He chuckled and pecked your cheek, before walking to the door.
As you pulled into your own driveway, you smiled.
Your relationship with Rodrick Heffley had changed tonight. But you know it had changed for the better.

Useless [pt1]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Modern college!au
toxic Eren x gn!reader
warnings: angst, explicit themes, dubcon, embarrassment, manipulation, degradation, OOC, cussing, and typos
authors note: this has been sittin in my drafts for months I just haven’t had the motivation to finish. there will be a part 2 with smut I just wanted to get this out first.
part 2
Tumblr media
Eren liked to think he was a pretty simple guy. He’d meet someone, use them for his benefit, lead them on till he didn’t need them anymore, then disappear. A sick trick that he used to manipulate all kinds of people. Life really can be easy with the right looks and a smooth voice. He and only ever got what he needed. He understands how selfish it is. But gotten him this far, so what would be the point in changing.
Unfortunately, you had been one of the unlucky few to get caught up in his schemes. Let’s be honest it wasn’t a surprise, you knew of him before. A few of your friends pinned over him for being the cute nicotine-addicted guy who couldn’t care less about World Literature 1-2. But you believed each and everyone of of his sweet little promises. “No you’re so special, I think I’m gonna keep you around for a long time sweetheart.” Deception dripping from his lips as he gave you a sinful grin.
You should’ve known...
It’s been a few months now since Eren blocked and deleted your number for his phone, the last time you spoke was when he texted you to thank you for helping him pass his English final. You replied with asking if he wanted to get lunch the following day only to be left with your text never going through. That motherfucker. Of course you were angry, mostly at yourself though. You tried not to sulk about it yet every time you’d go out you’d dress up a little then you would usually just in case you’d see him. And luckily he wasn’t in any of your classes this semester either so it would be easier to forget him.
At this point you haven’t thought of Eren in weeks, you’ve focused yourself in uni and started taking assignments and things more seriously. That was until one of Eren’s roommates unknowingly took a seat next to you in your intro to ethics course.
You’ve been to Eren’s apartment a multitude of times. You knew who his roommates were, even after having a few conversations in the late morning with them after you would spend the night. Armin, who was too engrossed from whatever was on his phone plopped his books right next to you and took a seat not sparing you a glance. Once you professor started speaking he locked his phone slipping it into his pocket and glance around the room. Once he looked at you his blue eye widened and he sorta whispered “oh hey! y/n didn’t know you were in here”
You shrugged and gave a polite smile while turning back to look at the front of the room to stare through one of the windows above the projector screen. It’s not like you hated Armin, he was very kind and never judged you when you’d take the walk of shame in the morning through Eren’s kitchen, it’s just you know that this interaction would eventually lead back to him and that made you nervous.
A week or two passed and Armin continued to sit next you, you supposed it was more comfortable for him because it didn’t look like he knew anyone else in this class, neither did you. Nor were you complaining he’d give you notes and lend you his book when you would forget. Not much conversation would happen between you either, a simple hello and other small talk would occur nothing more. A very professional relationship.
Yet when your professor assigned a partner projects you and Armin both looked at each other like :| and silently agreed to work together. It was just easier that way. The assignment wasn’t due for another 2 weeks so you had confidence that you wouldn’t have to grind at the end of the this week to do it. Until Armin caught your arm as you were leaving.
“Hey sorry to ask but would it be ok if we could work on this after school? I have a lot of stuff due this week and I’m in a bit of a time crunch.” He shyly laughed hoping you weren’t busy.
You held in a sigh “Uhh sure, can I meet you at 5 tho..I have a thing-”.
“Yeah! That’d be fine, my place?”
You kinda really didn’t want to go to his place, “yea!”
You both continued listening to your teacher’s lecture while your mind was elsewhere, you didn’t have anything after school you just wanted to go home for a bit and prepare for who you may or may not see at Eren’s Armins apartment. By the end of the day you raced home, flopping onto your bed, this was a bad idea, why didn’t you just ask for him to meet at the library or something?? This situation could’ve been a whole lot simpler if you just offered your place instead. Hell you don’t have any unconventional roommates you sleep with him so it’s just unfair. At 4:45 you gather your things and drove over to Armin’s apartment. You knocked on the door, your nerves going haywire.
You’re greeted by Armin he smiled and opened the door for you letting you walk inside. You took a glance to the side and luckily Eren’s familiar beat up tennis shoes weren’t by the door. At least you could relax for a little while, hopefully he wouldn’t come home till you were gone.
Jean was sitting on the couch watching some action movie at a low volume with Connie who was fast asleep curled up with a throw pillow. The lights in the living room were dim with the curtains on the windows shut. Yet you could still see from the light in the kitchen that shone from above the counter. Jean gave you a nod, “welcome back” he half whispered as he tipped his drink at you. You smiled and waved and made your way into Armin’s room. You sat at the edge of his desk in a borrowed kitchen chair, as he joined you sitting in his computer chair in front of his desktop. He left his door slightly ajar letting you see right through into the kitchen and front door, which made you slightly on edge. Armin started going over the project, opening a document, and reading through a few paragraphs. You tried your best you to concentrate but you were too paranoid. Every so often a loud noise from Jean’s movie on the tv would make you whip your head towards the door. About an hour in you and Armin had crunched through about a few paragraphs and of your project, to Armin’s mistake you guys definitely weren’t going to finish tonight. Hopefully the next time you’d offer your place instead.
After another 30 minutes you and Armin gave up, eventually you guys made your way back into the living room. You went to the door to gather your things until Jean and Connie basically begged you to stay and watch another movie with them. You didn’t want to, you knew if you stayed any longer the possibility of Eren coming home would increase. But when Connie got up from the couch and handed you a drink, you gave in. As you sat down you began slightly regretting your decision. Why were you staying? You and Armin were finished you can go home.
You asked yourself this when you heard keys jangle outside the door and the click of the lock. It’s roughly pushed open and Eren moves into the room, swiftly locking it behind him. “Hey man” Jean calls, you immediately tense next to Armin and fix a stare at the tv. You’re too aware of your surroundings right now to know what happening but you need a distraction. You can see his movement in your peripheral, Eren saunters in to the dark living room to stand by the opposite of the end of the couch from you. when he spots you,  you can feel his blazing stare in your skull, he laughs out a scoff and the room goes silent, except for the low murmur of the tv.
The air is tense and awkward and everybody can see your apprehension. your heart it beating in your ears and you can feel you palms starting to sweat. The sounds of the tv are immediately drowned out when Eren breathes our your name. “What the hell are you doing here?” He grips the arm of the couch and places his left hand on his hip. You slowly turn your head to look him in the eyes when Armin speaks up trying to lighten the situation “We had a project for sadis’ class”
Your eyes dart between Eren and Armin when Eren snides, “hmm...well it doesn’t look like your working on it”
“hey layoff man” Jean gives him a side eye. “Yeah we finished just a few minutes ago.” Armin adds.
“It was just a question” Eren shrugs. You can believe him, he such a fucking asshole, you’re staring at him in disbelief when he meets your eyes again he laughs “what did you miss me or somethin?” His grin is sickening, you feel the embarrassment hot on your face yet what can you do in the situation? If you leave you’ll destroy your pride and yet if you stay what if you give in to him again?
Your frozen in your seat you nails digging shapes into you palms as you clench them together. You feel the stare of everyone one in the room and it makes you want to cry. He tilts his head “can’t you speak? what wrong?” the malice in his voice makes your ears burn. You want to scream, you want to run, but he slowly walks right in front of you and holds out his hand. “C’mon”
You can leave at any moment, the door is only a few feet away yet you cautiously place your palm into his as he hauls you up from your seat. No one says anything as you guys leave the room, what a complicated situation this is huh?
As he opens his door you try to glace back at the others yet he roughly pulls your arm though and slams his bedroom door. You hope they don’t blame you too much for going with him. You stand in the middle of a very familiar room, one you’ve visited many times yet you’re too scared too move from the spot you currently occupy. He turns to face you locking the door behind him and takes a few steps forward. You look at the floor as you begin speaking “Eren I-”
“ohhhh so you can talk?”
“yes’ you puff.
He fits his hand under your chin proceeding to squish your cheeks to face him. “I don’t like you hanging out with them when I’m not around” his hot breath fan your face and you widen your eyes. The audacity. “What do you mean, were not even together anymo-” you voice smothered by his grip.
He tips his head back and see concern in his eyes, its almost like he was hurt by your words, “Yes we are” his eyebrows scrunched together. You go to spit out another sentence when his hand moves to cover you entire mouth, he brings face to your ear, “You wound me y/n, how could you think that? I thought you loved me?” Why does he sounds so genuine? Your mind is fuzzy with confusion, of course he’s lying, you would never in a million years utter those words to him during the short time you were together. Yet the pain in his voice and the grip on your jaw is making you dizzy, his hot breath on your ear and neck are causing goosebumps to raise on your skin.
Your smaller hand goes to grip his forearm that's holding your face. He moved to look into your eyes. The dim light from the lamp in the far corner of the room casts a shadow upon his face, yet his deep green eyes seem to glow. He slowly moves his hand away placing it on your shoulder as his free hand moves to your hip. You want to yell at him, ask his why he’s doing this to you, but you place your palm softly onto his chest and drop your head in shame, “I’m sorry..i..I didn’t know” you whispered.
His warm hand goes to caress your cheek and moves into your hair lightly pulling to make you face him. “It’s ok babe, you just have to make it up to me” his chest rumbles underneath your hands as you eye widen. “You can do that, right?” You slowly nod your head and bunch his t-shirt under your fingers. He places a soft kiss on your forehead and lead you towards his bed in the corner of the room. He takes a seat on his dark blue comforter and your stand in front of him. Your hands lightly holding onto his index fingers as he carefully rocks them back and forth.  You take another look at his face and see the artificial softness slowly fade away into something dark, and conspiring.
“On your knees babe” his voice sounding rougher than before. You begin another protest but he takes his warm palms and encircles your waist to urge you down. You slowly fall to your knees, your hands on his thighs while digging your nails into his rough jeans. Your mind slowly starts to unfog and start realizing what your doing. Your shame and regret tug at your heart and you feel the tears begin to prick your eyes. You look up at Eren and see the distain in his eyes. He hums and caresses you shoulder. You wept into your chest as you feel the air being stolen from your lungs Eren moves his calloused hand to your throat and tugs to make you look him in the eyes.
Why did you have to be so damn proud?

adore you - m. tkachuk
Tumblr media
a/n: when i asked for fics to bring back i had a few people ask me for this one - i have the biggest soft spot for this fic because it was the first one that ever got a decent amount of notes on my old blog so I hope you guys love it a second time :)
Matthew Tkachuk was the bane of your existence. He was egotistical, a little dumb and flat out annoying. But, no matter what you did you could never get rid of him. You were forced to spend time with him because your best friend, Hannah, was dating his teammate, Noah. You actually liked Noah, he was kind and extremely good to Hannah. You couldn’t understand how he put up with Matthew and you honestly had a second thought about your friendship when he explained to you that they’d played together on US teams when they were younger too.
Matthew had been a nightmare since the first night you met, when Hannah went on and on about how she thinks you guys should meet because you’d be perfect together. As usual, you told her you weren’t looking for anything right now, because you were just too busy for it. But, you went along anyway and Hannah introduced the two of you. You’d never met a more annoying human being in your life, who was so sure you were going to sleep with him that night that you ended up chewing him out in the middle of the bar. When you’d finally finished ranting, he just went on about how cute you looked when you were mad at him and you felt your blood boil. That was two months ago, and in those two months he’d spent every waking moment of his day trying to bother you about something.
Which would explain why, as you were home catching up on some work, there was a knock on the door of your apartment and you already knew who it was. You’d opened the door and like you’d received once a week for almost a month, there was someone delivering a bouquet of flowers for Mrs. Tkachuk. You’d signed for them, not bothering to explain to yet another random delivery man that you were not in fact married and tossed them immediately in your garbage. Snapping a picture and sending it to Matthew like you’d done every other time.
Glad you signed that contract, because you’re going to go broke sending me flowers.
You’re worth every penny wifey ;)
You rolled your eyes at the nickname, annoyed with how often this went on. You called Hannah who’d been the cause of all of this in the first place, and waited for her to pick up the phone.
“Hey Y/N what’s up?” Hannah asks.
“If Matthew sends me another bouquet of flowers you can tell Noah he’s going to have one less teammate,” You practically growl into the phone, hearing Noah’s laugh in the background.
“Give Chucky a chance Y/N, the kid wants to marry you,” Noah says, taking the phone from his girlfriend’s hand.
“He’s a nightmare Noah,” You say, sighing into the phone.
“He ADORES you,” Noah explains, “He literally never stops asking about you, speaking of, are you coming to Sean’s party with us tonight?”
“Will you keep Matthew away from me?” You ask, deciding that’s the only way you’d want to even go.
“Yes, I will try and keep Chucky away from you,” Noah promises and you reluctantly agree to go to the party, earning a cheer from Hannah through the phone.
--
When you get to the party, it’s in full swing. The room is filled with people you knew and didn’t and you were honestly shocked Sean knew this many people. You were thankful though, because you knew it would be extremely easy for you to avoid Matthew all night.
You were doing great with your initial plan of avoiding Matthew. You were having a good time, dancing and drinking with your friends. You definitely were drunk but so was everyone else at the party. You’d escaped to go to the bathroom, walking down the hallway to one of the bathrooms in Sean’s large home. You stopped in front of his wedding photos, looking at the pictures from his nuptials that happened the summer before.
“When we get married it’ll be even better than Sean’s,” You hear behind you and instantly knew was standing behind you, “Think about it you can plan one of those pinterest weddings, we’ll get hitched, I’ll take us on a sick honeymoon and we can hang our wedding photos in some big old house together.”
“You’re insufferable,” You say, turning around to face the pest behind you, but when you turned your heel caught the edge of the rug you were standing under and you stumbled, falling directly into Matthew in front of you.
“And you’re drunk,” Matthew says, holding you up so you don’t hit the floor.
“I’m fine,” You say, your words slurring together more than you’d intended, you push yourself away from Matthew to stand up yourself.
“No you’re not, I saw you, you had like 4 shots with Hannah,” Matthew says, knowing just how much you’d had to drink.
“How do you even know that, stalker,” You say back, crossing your arms across your chest.
“I was keeping an eye on you, there’s a lot of people here, and you’re absolutely oblivious,” Matthew says and just as he was saying something genuinely kind, he had to ruin it.
You shook your head at his comment, “You’re honestly the worst.”
“I know, can I get you home now?” Matthew says, holding up his keys.
“I can get home myself,” You say, stumbling over your own feet when you try and move down the hallway.
“Y/N please let me just get you home safe, no funny business I swear,” Matthew promises, wrapping his arm around your waist to keep you still.
You push his arm off of you, “You’ve never done anything funny in your life, and fine.”
Matthew smiles at the insult, “Thank you, c’mon wifey we gotta get you home.”
He grabs your hand and laces his fingers with yours, pulling you out of the house and down the street to where his car was parked. He opens the door of the black Audi, letting you slide in. Hopping into the driver’s seat, he starts the car to head to your apartment.
“You drive a less douchier car than I thought,” You say, taking in the views of Calgary as you drove through the city.
“I think that was almost a compliment,” Matthew says, laughing.
“Your taste in music is terrible though,” You say, pointing to the top 40 story that was playing on the radio.
“There it is,” Matthew says, pulling in front of your building, turning his car off.
“I can get up to my place myself,” You say, opening the door to get out of the car.
Matthew sighs, “Please Y/N.”
“Whatever,” You mutter, not in the mood for an argument. You both ride up the elevator to your floor in silence, walking down the hallway to your apartment.
“Thank you by the way,” You say, opening the door to your apartment.
“Anytime,” Matthew says, heading back down the hallway, “By the way, I meant it, I’m marrying you one day.”
You shake your head and shut the door, heading to get ready for bed.
--
The next week Matthew and yourself had gone back to your normal bickering. You didn’t think much into the weird conversation you’d had in Sean’s house, unsure of why Matthew was so concerned with getting you home safe. It bothers you for a small amount of time, until you heard him compliment your ass from across Noah’s kitchen and you knew things had gone back to normal. With the All Star break over and Matthew flying back to Calgary you knew your small vacation from his pestering would be over.
But, you were packing to head to Edmonton with Hannah to go see your parents. The two of you were both from Edmonton, moving to Calgary to go to college together. While Hannah's hockey loyalty switched over to the Flames the day Noah asked her to be his girlfriend, you were still a big Oilers fan, only cheering for the Flames because of your friends with Noah and his teammates. But, after the game right before the break, in which Matthew couldn’t stop being a rat and running his mouth in the media, you were almost excited to go to the game. Looking forward to watching him get roughed around a little bit. You pack the Kassian jersey you’d bought recently, knowing you’d be going to the game with Hannah and looking forward to pissing Matthew off beyond belief.
--
You’d spent the first couple of days in Edmonton, catching up with your family and friends that lived there. You were excited to have had the couple of days home, spending time with your parents and reaping the benefits of having your mom take care of you for a few days.
You were standing in your childhood bedroom, packing up some stuff to bring back with you on your drive back to Calgary the next morning. You finished packing and slipped on your outfit for the game, putting on the Kassian jersey you’d packed. You hear Hannah beep her horn outside of your parents house, and you head out the door to see her.
“You didn’t actually buy that,” Hannah shakes her head in disbelief, thinking you were kidding when you’d told her about the jersey a couple of weeks prior.
“If Matthew gets to spend every waking moment of his life irritating me, I’m going to do the same back,” You shrug, “Plus we’re in Edmonton, it’s fine.”
Hannah sighs, “I wish I understood you guys.”
The rest of the car ride is spent catching up on how you’d both spent the last few days. Arriving at the arena, you both head in, sitting at the seats Noah had gotten for the both of you. You were right against the ice, on the Flames side of course, watching them skate for pregame warm ups. You see Noah spot you, shaking his head at your choice in jersey. You see him skate over to Matthew and point in your direction, the curly haired menace turning his attention over to you. His nostrils flare out, and he skates directly into the boards in front you, knocking your beer on the ledge to the ground.
“I cannot stand you,” You say, annoyed you’d have to go get another drink.
“Look at what you’re fucking wearing,” You hear him say before skating away, spending the rest of warm ups away from you.
“He’s mad Y/N,” You hear Hannah say, pointing to Matthew across the ice.
“Good,” You say, sipping on the beer you had to go get after Matthew knocked the first one over.
The game was off to a hot start, and hits were flying in true Battle of Alberta fashion. The entire crowd was waiting to see if Matthew would finally drop his gloves with Kassian after the media circus that ensued after their last meeting. When he finally does, you feel Hannah grab your arm, taking your attention away from your phone and you look up watching Matthew square up against Kassian. You watch him throw punch after punch, finally knocking him to the ground, Matthew looking over at you as he skates over to the box.
The rest of the game was intense, ending in a 3-4 shootout win for the Flames. You head to the locker rooms, waiting outside for Noah. The team starts to roll out one by one, looking exhausted from the hit heavy game they just played.
“You’re not actually wearing that right now,” You hear Johnny say, laughing as he comes up to you, “You must have put Chucky’s mind in a blender.”
“I’m sure he’ll recover,” You say, spotting Matthew leaving the locker room, making a beeline over to you.
“Sorry I had to give your boy a beating tonight,” He says, still a little mad at you.
“Yeah I just love him, the whole team actually,” You say, trying to rile him up.
He glares at you, before leaning down and whispering in your ear, “Nineteen’s a better number for you don’t you think?”
You ignore the chill that climbs up your spine when he places his hand on the small of your back, “Over my dead body.”
Matthew shakes his head and walks down the hallway to head back to the team’s hotel, not letting you know that seeing you in that Oilers jersey made his skin crawl.
--
When you arrive back in Calgary, you’d gotten four texts from Matthew, asking you if you’ve gotten back to your apartment yet. When you finally do, there’s a box at the door, a large red bow on top. Your gut says it’s from Matthew, and your suspicions were confirmed when you opened the box and revealed a Flames jersey, the number nineteen glaring at you. You pick up the card and nearly gag at the writing
Looks better than orange and blue babe - Matty
You think about tossing the jersey in the trash like you’d done with every bouquet of flowers he sent you, but you something wouldn’t let you. You leave the box on the island in your kitchen, deciding you’ll do something about it later. You set down the box and look at your phone, checking your texts to see Hannah had texted you to see if you were going to meet her out after Noah’s game tonight. You debate it internally for a moment, but decide to go out.
--
Later that night, you arrive at the bar and instantly spot the large group of hockey players standing in the corner. You walk over and immediately hear the sound of Matthew’s laugh, giggling at some stupid joke he probably told. You catch up with everyone and head over to the bar to grab a drink. While you’re waiting to get the bartender’s attention, you feel a hand on the small of your back and turn around to see Matthew standing behind you.
“You look incredible tonight,” Matthew whispers in your ear, flagging down the bartender with ease.
“I can’t believe you followed me over here,” You say, turning your back to him.
“I can’t believe you don’t want to be with me,” Matthew says, “We’d make such cute babies.”
Matthew drones on about how if you guys had kids, they’d probably have his hair but he wants them to have your smile. It would be cute if you didn’t know he was doing it to get under your skin. Your eyes scan the bar, seeing a group of girls pointing to Matthew and whispering, probably about the Flames resident pest being out at the bar.
“Don’t you have a fan club to entertain,” You say, nodding your head towards the girls.
“I could talk to you all night and I’d still take one of those girls home,” Matthew smirks back at you and while you’d usually feel your blood boil at the comment, you felt something different. A pang of jealousy washes over you at the thought of Matthew giving his attention to someone who wasn’t you. You’d had it for so long, and something in your gut said you didn’t want anyone else to have his attention the way you did. You look at him for a moment, taking his blue eyes and crooked smile, and relishing in the way his hand on your back feels.
You sigh, “You could just take me home.”
You see Matthew choke on his beer, “I can - I - what?”
You giggle at his reaction, his usually cocky demeanor diminishing as you finally decide he can have what he wants, “You can take me home,” you repeat again, running your fingertips along his arm.
“You’re fucking with me,” Matthew says in disbelief.
“I’m not, but you have to promise me something,” You say and he nods, prompting you to finish your statement, “I can still plan the wedding.”
Matthew laughs at the reminder of what he told you at Sean’s party, “You can have whatever you want babe.”
You grab his hand and lace his fingers with yours, leading him out of the bar and into his car. Matthew knew that once he finally got you, he wasn’t going to let you go.

Your eyes stare at the two pink lines. Positive. How could you and John B let this happen? You’d been careful. You used protection and you were on birth control, something your mother had you put on after she found out you were dating John B, a pogue. Your mother warned you about pregnancy and strongly urged you to use protection. Your family’s reputation would not be able to handle a pregnancy caused by a pogue. The reputation was already beginning to crack after they found out about you and him, this would completely ruin it.
Your mind then went to John B and his life. He was living alone at 18. His dad disappeared in a boating accident years ago and he was barely scrapping by. His life was already hard and to throw a baby into the mix? It would be even worse for him. You couldn’t do that to him. Especially, since your family would disown you and kick you out, leaving you to live with John B. However, this was John B’s baby and he deserved to know. He would want to know you were carrying his child. You knew he was going to be a good father, no doubt about it.
Gathering yourself from you white tiled bathroom floor, you stood in the mirror and wiped your eyes, washing the mascara from your face and headed to the Chateau.
~
When you arrived, you let out a sigh of relief to only see John B’s van. Kie’s car or JJ’s bike no where in sight. You stepped out of your car and headed inside.
“John B?” You called out, but there was no answer. You stepped through the house, checking in the rooms, but no John B. You checked the time; he’d be home from working at the dock by now. So, where was he?
You stepped off the screen porch and looked around the yard when you heard a boat motor. As you headed down to the dock, there was John B, pulling up in HMS Pogue. He must have gone for an evening drive.
“Hey.” You gave a small smile and a wave, stepping to the end of the dock as he pulled the boat closer to the edge.
He threw you the rope to tie off the boat, “Hey, what are you doing here?”
You bent down and tied off the boat, “I needed to talk with you about something.” After tying off the boat, you stood and wiped your hands on your jeans.
As he stepped off the boat and onto the dock, you could see the weight of the world on his shoulders, “Can it wait? I’ve had a shitty day.” He sighs and sits down on the bench, running his hands through his hair.
You frowned and nodded, “What’s wrong? Do you want to want to talk about it?” You take a seat next to him and put a loving hand on his thigh.
He holds his head in his hands, “They’ve cut back my hours on the dock, which means I won’t be able make enough to pay bills, so I have to find another job.”
And that is when you knew, you couldn’t tell him about the baby.
~
It had been a few weeks, John B had yet to find a second job and you had yet to tell him about the baby. It was Kie who found out about the pregnancy first. You didn’t mean for it to happen but she’d come over to drop something off and found you sobbing in the bathroom floor. She was your best friend and you knew there was no lying to her.
“I’m pregnant, Kie.” You sobbed into your hands.
She immediately pulled you into her arms as you two sat on the bathroom floor. She let you sob for as long as you needed, “Does John B know?”
You shook your head and quickly pulled away to look at her, “He can’t know Kie. You can’t tell him. Please.”
She sadly nods, “Okay, I won’t.” It wasn’t her secret to tell.
~
You didn’t want to go to the Boneyard for a party, but John B begged you to come. He’d finally found another job and wanted to celebrate. As you and the pogues were situated around a fire, you sat next to Kie, who was telling you about her horrible date, when John B came stumbling over.
“Hey y/n.” He slurs, two cups in his hands, “Here drink up.”
You glanced at Kie and then back up at John B, “I’m okay John B. I don’t feel like drinking tonight.”
He narrows his eyes at you, “You don’t ever feel like drinking. You don’t feel like doing anything anymore! All you do is sit around on your little kook ass crying about the dumbest shit!”
Your eyes sting with tears. It had been a rough couple of weeks. Your hormones were horrible and all over the place and you had terrible morning sickness lasting through out the day.
“John B.” Kie snapped, “Don’t be an ass!”
He looks at Kie then back at you, noticing the tears, “There she goes now with the damn water works.” He shakes his head and finishes off his drink with a gulp, tossing the cup in the trash.
You stand, “John B I think it’s time for you to stop. You’ve had enough..” You go to grab the other drink in his hand but he smacks your hand away.
“Don’t touch my fucking drink.”
You put your hands up defensively, Kie standing at your side as JJ and Pope make their way over seeing all the commotion.
“You sit all high and mighty in that big ass house of yours while the rest of us pogues bust our asses to put food on the table!” He points a finger at you.
‘he’s just drunk. He’s just drunk and doesn’t mean those things.’ You repeat in your head, but your hormones are already raging and another tear slips down your face. This is what sends John B into a fit.
“And there you are with those damn tears again! What do you have to cry about?! You’ve never worked a day in your life and you probably never will!”
“I’m pregnant John B. That’s why I cry all the time! That’s why I don’t drink anymore or I’m always sick!” Tears are steadily falling and Kie puts an hand on your back.
John B is taken back by this information and stumbles back a little, “P-pregnant?” He shakes his head, the alcohol making his head spin. “There isn’t no fucking way you’re pregnant.” His eyes snap to you, “We used protection. You were on the pill. That isn’t my baby.” He points to your stomach. The next thing that happens is something none of the pogues saw coming. He tosses the drink in your face, the beer splashing on your face and down the front of your clothes.
Everything else happened so fast. Suddenly, JJ was protectively in front of you, grabbing at John B and yelling at him. Kie is cussing at John B and trying to get napkins to wipe up your face.
JJ and Pope drag John B off toward the van, still cussing and yelling at him for what he did.
“Are you okay?” Kie asks, wiping the beer off your face.
You shake your head and let out a sob.
“Oh sweetie..” She wraps her arms around you in a hug, “He was just drunk, you know that he didn’t mean any of it.”
~
Kie drove you home that night and made sure you were okay before leaving. JJ and Pope took John B back to the Chateau where John B finally passed out on the couch. They didn’t leave either, they wanted to be the first to tell John B how much he fucked up after he woke up the next morning.
~
You slept in the next morning, never leaving the bed. Kie came over and hung out but never once mentioned John B. Not like you wanted to hear about him anyways. Maybe your mother was right, dating a pogue was wrong.
~
Back at the Chateau, he knew he’d fucked up. The next morning after the outburst, JJ and Pope were quick to tell him everything that happened, how he’d drank too much, snapped on you, the pregnancy announcement and the throwing of the drink.
“Oh I fucked up.” John B groans, running his hands through his hair, “I need to go see her.” He starts to walk out but Pope grabs his arm, “Kie called from her house. She doesn’t want to see you.”
He shook Pope’s arm off, “Doesn’t mean I’m not going to try.”
When he arrived at your house, Kie’s car was still in the driveway. Kie was never going to let you see him. He sighs and knocks on the door. To no surprise, Kie opens the door.
“She doesn’t want to see you John B.”
“I know Kie, I fucked up but please, I have to apologize.” He begs.
She shakes her head and goes to shut the door, but he stops it with his foot, “Kie, Please!”
You slowly make your way down the stairs, wrapped in a blanket, “Kie?”
Kie turns around, “He’s leaving, it’s okay.”
John B looks passed Kie and looks at your appearance. He can see you’ve been crying all night. Your eyes are swollen and red. And you’re wrapped in your favorite fluffy blanket, one only used when things were bad, “Y/n please… I’m sorry.” His eyes are pleading as he begs.
You wrap the blanket tighter around you as you walk behind Kie, “It’s okay, Kie…” You give a small smile at her and she nods before heading back to your room. Pushing John B out of the house you close the door behind you and sit on one of the white rocking chairs. “Well?”
He quickly takes a seat next to you, “I’m sorry about last night. I was a complete asshole.”
You laugh halfheartedly, “Asshole? That was more than being an asshole John B. You snapped on me and said mean things and you threw a drink in my face.”
His face falls, “I know. And I don’t know what got into me. I got scared when you said you were pregnant. I was already stressed and had finally found a second job then you say you’re pregnant? I can barely take care of myself, let alone another human being.”
“You don’t think I’m stressed out? I can’t take care of another human being either! You’re not the only one in this John B.”
He sighs, nodding, “I know and I should have never reacted the way I did.” He stands from the chair and steps in front of you, bending his knees so he’s eye level with you. He puts a loving hand on your knee, “I will take care of you and our baby, no matter what. Okay?”
You sniff, another round of tears filling your eyes, “I didn’t mean for this to happen.”
His heart breaks when he sees the look in your eye. They’re filled with regret and sadness. “Hey.. I know that.” He rubs his thumb along your cheek, “I know you didn’t mean for this to happen. This is on both of us, not just you. It was an accident and that’s okay. We’re going to go through this together. I’m going to be there every step of the way, alright?”
You sniffle and nod, before standing up and walking right into his open arms. He kisses the top of your head, “We’re going to be parents.” He whispers and gives you a small squeeze. Suddenly the thought of having a baby pogue, half you, half him running around made his heart swell. It was earlier than he would have hoped. He wanted to have a steady job. He wanted to marry you first and then start a family but looks like he’d have to do things another way and that was okay.
~
Few weeks went by. You were now 3 months pregnant, no baby bump yet. You’d asked Kie to accompany you to one of the appointments because John B said he had to work and couldn’t make it. You two had made a day of it, stopping for lunch and did some shopping around town. Now, you two were on your way home. You decided you’d wait at the Chateau for John B until he got off work.
“Can you take me by John B’s?” You ask, looking over at Kie.
“yeah sure.” She nods, turning off a side street and heading toward the Chateau.
~
When you arrive, his van is parked by the house along with JJ’s bike. “Thought he was at work?” She asks, turning off the car.
“Yeah I did too..” you mutter before getting out of the car. The two of you head up on the front porch; the door is open and it sounds like JJ and John B are arguing.
“That’s not the right part, JJ! It’s this one.”
“Dude, I’m not a rocket scientist.”
“This has to be perfect.”
You look at Kie, who shrugs, so the two of you walk into the house and to the office where John B’s dad kept all his treasures and research. However, the room isn’t filled with his dad’s things anymore. It was empty. The walls had been painted a light grey and there were baby animals hung around the room. In the middle of the room sat John B and JJ, half of a crib up, the rest of the parts were strewed around them.
Your eyes swelled with tears, “John B..”
His head snapped up to you, oh shit. He’d lied to you about work and now was caught right in the middle of it.
“I’m just gonna.. go outside.” JJ quickly stands and follows Kie out, leaving you and John B in the room.
He slowly stands, “I wanted it to be a surprise… this is the nursery.. for our baby.”
Your let out a small sob, admiring the room, “It’s amazing!”
His face lights up, “Really? You like it?”
“Like it? I love it John B!” You smile, turning around to face him, frowning, “But all your dad’s stuff.”
He nods, “In the shed. I figured he wouldn’t mind his grandchild having this room..”
You look at the décor and then the crib, “How could you afford all this?”
“I had some savings set aside for something else. But I knew this was more important.” He steps over to you, “Do you like the color? I can change it if you don’t like it. It’s just the guy at the paint shop said grey was a neutral color since I didn’t know the gender.”
You quickly shook your head and smiled, “No, it’s perfect. All of it.. is perfect.” Your hand digs into your back pocket and pull out the ultrasound photo.
“New ultrasound photo?” He asks as you hand it to him.
You point to the little bean in the photo, “Size of a plum now.” You giggle a little.
He chuckles, looking over the photo, “Size of a plum..”
You nod, “Doctor said baby was healthy and growing just fine. And the mother was doing great too.” You laugh a little.
He smiles, “Can I keep this one? I want to put it with my others” He’d kept the photos from the first ultrasound, hung on the fridge and in the van. He was proud and would show of the photo anytime someone entered in the Chateau or even the van. “We know John B, we saw the photo in the van.” The pogues would mutter.
“Sure. I have another one in the car. That’s your copy.”
His hand slips around your waist and pulls you into his side, his free hand going to your tummy, “My little family…”

Was that Jake there 2
Part 1
Pairing: JakexMc
Words: 4,2k
A/N: So, a few days ago I got an absolutely sweet comment from @captainwanderlust78❤️
Tumblr media
Really, you made my last week. And then unfortunately the news came from Everbyte that EP 7 will come later. And actually, there wasn’t a second part planned for this story, but since you wanted one so much, here we are. This is my second attempt, because I wrote a part that I didn’t like. I tried to keep the story a little more quiet this time. Anyway, I hope you like it and apologize for possible mistakes. Oh and Merry Christmas. 🌲❤️
--
"Ready little ones?" Dan asks you and pokes you with his elbow.
"Yes, I’m ready," you answer and look at the big clock in the motel lobby.
Point 12 at midday.
"I’ll be gone," you say goodbye to the others.
"Take care of yourself and call me if you need anything," Richy informs you.
"Yeah, or if he attacks you," hiss Dan.
"Dan" hisses Jessy and steps on his foot.
"Ouch" growls Dan and looks at her accusingly.
Jessy is just ignoring this and calls after you, "See you later".
Slowly but with firm steps you make your way to the elevator.
Immediately the doors open and you get in and press the button for floor three.
The place the place where you meet is going to be a motel room that can’t be used because of renovation.
This is the perfect place to meet Jake.
He will come over the fire escape behind the motel to the third floor and there you meet in the room.
Deciding how and when the meeting will take place was quite awkward.
Yesterday after you guys finished partying at the club, you and Jessy called a cab as planned to take you home to Jessy. Fortunately, everything worked out, until the taxi driver drove to the roadside in the middle of the drive and simply switched off the engine.
Immediately all the alarms were on in your head, and you were ready to get out of the car if necessary.
He turned to you in the back and silently held a note to you.
The paper was folded very small, you opened it and saw many ones and zeros.
0100100001100101011011000110110001101111 010011010110001100001010
Grinning, you rolled your eyes.
"What’s that supposed to mean?" Jessy wonders.
"This is a binary code," you explain to her and pull your phone out of your pocket.
"Ah now I know what that is, of course," she grumbles ironically.
"This is computer language"
You search the Internet for a code translator.
You took a picture of the notes, the translator took the numbers and translated them directly.
"Hello Mc" you read, "Is this serious?".
The driver silently held out a note to you.
You also open this note and moan desperately.
"Can’t he just write normal letters?" you mumble and take a deep breath.
"He’s a computer nerd, they’re all weird," answers the man who was supposed to be just a taxi driver.
01010100 01101111 01101101 01101111 01110010 01110010 01101111 01110111
00001010 01000100 01101111 01101111 01110010 01100010 01100101 01101100 01101100 00001010 01010000 01101100 01100001 01101110
01100110 01101111 01110010
01100111 01110101 01111001
00001010
"Tomorrow morning, doorbell, plan for guy" is the translation.
"Huh?" makes Jessy next to you.
"I’ve got another one," the guy calls again.
"One more? Why not write everything on a piece of paper?"
"Clay said it was too confusing"
"Clay?"
"Oh, Jake, excuse me" he grins and holds out the third note.
01001101 01100101 01100101 01110100 00001010 00110001 00110010
"Meet
12 o'clock
"Midday"
"Okay, so, there’s a man ringing in the morning and he wants me to tell him the plan but the meeting has to be at 12:00," you put it all together.
"Right" the man agrees with you and starts the car again.
"Wait, You knew what that meant?"
"Yes, but we should talk as little as possible, that’s why the notes" he explains to you.
"But I said it out loud"
"Yes, right"
After that, he didn’t speak, but at least you didn’t have to pay.
Well, and then 20 minutes later, you and Jessy took the next taxi back to Roger’s garage, and there you all met again to work out the plan.
Lilly told Mrs Walter she didn’t have to work today. Lilly would take her shift and the owner should have a nice day with Alfie.
After a little persuasion it worked and Lilly is the only one who has to work.
There are only 13 rooms occupied in the entire motel, and only two of them are on the third floor, so the room with the renovation fits best.
This morning at 7 o'clock, a flower messenger rang at Jessy’s house, and you stared at the roses and then at the man.
"Gohstbusters" he said and you understood what to do.
You gave him a note stating the plan for the meeting.
However, written in hieroglyphs.
But there is also a translator on the Internet.
The elevator doors open and you look around.
No one is to be seen so you make yourself on the way to the room which is at the very end of the corridor.
With the key card you got from Lilly, you can open the door, hold the card against the sensor and the door cracks quietly. You press the door inwards and notice that there’s light on.
However, of course you did not expect that a man sitting in the room on the desk chair.
"Oh, God," you jump back a step.
The man looks up and immediately looks worried.
"Oh my God," you murmur as you realizes it’s just Jake.
Completely out of breath, you lean with your hands on your knees and breathe deeply.
"Oh shit, MC, I didn’t mean to." He murmurs and comes up to you.
You laugh in agony and grin forced.
"Ha uhm already okay, all right, I was not scared".
A small but quiet laugh comes from Jake’s mouth.
He’s going to the side so you can come in. He locks the door behind you.
"How did you get in here?" You ask and try to calm your heart that feels like it’s jumping out of your chest.
"The doors are not safe for hackers," he explains, sitting back on the chair.
"You hacked a motel door?" you ask amused.
"Yes, you weren’t there yet, but I couldn’t stay in front of the door. That would have been more than conspicuous," he argues.
You just shake your head and let yourself fall on the bed. For a moment it is quiet, only the ticking of the clock can be heard.
"Thank you for coming," you speak in silence.
"Hm yes" is the answer.
"You’re still against it, aren’t you?" you ask unsure.
"MC, please don’t think I wouldn’t want to see you too, but I won’t be reassured until you’re safe again," he explains.
"How are you?" you change the subject.
"I am fine, and you?"
You roll your eyes, "Don’t tell me everything at once," you say ironically.
A smile appears on his face.
"Honestly not so good" he admits.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"No, it’s okay" he declines. You pull up an eyebrow and you look at him in a challenging way, "Okay, then in a different way. Tell me what’s going on," you challenge him and leave no room for a negative answer.
You point to the bed next to you and signal him to sit next to you.
He thinks briefly but then does what you want
"Well, it’s all pretty stressful right now," he starts.
"Okay good, and keep going" attentively you look at him.
He finally surrenders and begins to report.
"There were some problems that we didn’t expect, they almost caught us. We could only cross a border with a lot of luck and help, but that took us quite some time. And then I made a stupid mistake, the pursuers were able to intercept our signal. As a result, I had to burn my laptop and cell phone so that nothing could be found.
That took us some time too. The agents are much better than I thought, they are much too fast and much too good and that makes it really hard for me. And for the others, too. And what’s even harder is, that I can’t write to you anymore. I dont know how far along you are, or if you have new clues, new key results, how far along you are with Hannah, but even worse, I don’t know how you’re doing. How you feel or if you have problems, and that makes my head full all day with questions that revolve around you. Sometimes we manage to access the Internet for a short time through public computers in libraries or cafes. But contacting you would be too dangerous. I can delete a lot of data from the system but as I said, the agents are better than I thought and unfortunately we do not know exactly how well and how much they can get back. I would have to take every computer with me and burn it down, but that would be even worse if computers were suddenly missing everywhere. It’s shitty MC, I’m honest, I hate this situation, but it’s my own fault"
exhausted, he rubs his face.
Wow okay, that was very honest.
Worried you look at him.
You could say things like "everything’s gonna be okay" or "it’s not your fault." But let’s face it, it’s not helping anyone. So the only logical way is to just hug him tight, and that’s exactly what you’re doing.
You slide a little closer to him and wrap your arms around his upper body and lean your head against his shoulder. Unlike yesterday, he does not tense himself but also gently lays his arms around your body. Immediately, its smell rises in your nose and tingles through your body. You notice how relief spreads in your body. Relief that he’s doing reasonably well, that he’s still free, that he’s here with you, that he’s hugging you, too. But above all, relief because it feels like every pressure is dropping from you, all the pressure of the last few weeks. The pressure because of Hannah, the pressure because of the man without a face, and of course the pressure that something might have happened to Jake. At least for a brief moment, everything is fine, and that makes you happy. And if you think about he’s gonna have to leave soon, you’re gonna get sick. But you don’t want to think about the negative things now, you just want to enjoy the moment, just a brief moment of rest.
You have closed your eyes and hear Jake’s heart beat rhythmically, which also calms you down. You remove an arm from his body and place your hand on his left chest. You can feel his heart just coming out of rhythm and then beating a little faster than before. This also makes your heart beat a little faster.
"You Jake?" you whisper softly.
"Mhh?" he makes a questioning sound.
"Who are the others?"
"They’re familiar to me. The three were also involved in the government project and now they are also in danger," he says briefly.
"Okay?" your voice sounds questioning.
"We know each other from different chat portals for hackers"
Thus, all your questions were answered. For this moment.
Slowly you break away from each other, even if you don’t want to, but it’s no use.
"I still have to thank Lilly and you" he addresses your #IamJake action.
"You don’t have to thank either of us, Lilly owed it to both of us, and I do it because I want,"  you assure him.
"But still, it’s not understandable, I hope it will help us. The idea was really good. The others were quite fascinated when they saw this, "he praises you and his half-sister.
"You deserve it, too, Jake," you reaffirm your action even more.
Ironically he laughs, "with what?"
"In which you are, and also do everything to find Hannah, even if she doesn’t know you’re her half-brother. And Lilly also understood that we both just wanted to help."
"That might have been a little selfish of me. I just wanted you guys to make up because I don’t know where this is going with the two of us. And I wanted to take the opportunity early" he confesses.
"I can live with that" a little smile is on your face.
He doesn’t know where this is going with us, and he wanted you and his half-sister to make up.
"I’m sorry, MC but -" he starts.
You sigh, "but we still have something to discuss," you finish his sentence.
"I’m sorry, but we only charged three hours at the most, then I have to go "he looks at you apologetically.
"It’s okay, let’s not talk about it now".
You really don’t want to talk about it right now. The conversation will come soon enough. Jake gets his backpack on the desk and takes out his laptop.
Then he sits down next to you again and asks you to give him your phone.
Quickly, a connection is established and the screen of your phone is displayed on the laptop.
And so you begin to discuss everything that’s happened since he was gone.
-
By now you had arrived at Lilly’s and your chat.
"You really called her Duskwood’s worst legend?" Jake asks a little overwhelmed if he can laugh about it.
"Um, I was a little mad," you smile innocently at him.
"Remind me not to argue with you" he looks at you briefly from the side and grins crooked.
"I like to argue sometimes" challenging, you look at him.
"Yes, I noticed that, so we prefer not to"
Quietly, he continues to read the chat while you wait to see if he has any questions.
From the side you see his eyes suddenly get a little bigger and he swallows.
"Everything okay?" you ask him immediately.
"So we’re in love?" he asks teasingly.
It takes a short time to remember the message, immediately you get warm and your cheeks turn red.
Then you laugh a little hysterical.
"Um, haha that- that, uhm yes..." you stutter.
Jake raises an eyebrow.
"Um, yeah, I can explain that," nervously you start playing with your hands and scratching your neck in turns.
"Uhm, so - on that point I didn’t know, uhm, what relationship you and Lilly have. So this - I didn’t know you both were siblings, and then I kind of wanted to piss them off. Well, I- I thought it might upset Lilly or something".
You don’t even know if that’s true, you just said it without thinking. Maybe it’s true, but he doesn’t want anyone know it, or it‘s just going too fast for him.
You wish for nothing more than for the floor to swallow you.
"I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have written that. I hope I didn’t make you feel stupid or anything, that’s the last thing I want, can we just forget about it?" you murmur in shame.
You look at the tips of your shoes so you don’t have to look at Jake.
"Lilly was right," Jake murmurs into the unpleasant silence.
"I didn’t like that they voted against you in the vote. They treated you unfairly, I didn’t like that at all," he admits, "I felt the need to at least scare the others. Which was not quite okay, but I couldn’t watch them treat you like this".
You’re looking at him.
"It was for Hannah, because you will be the key, but I could have just written a message, but that was not enough for me".
You can’t hold back a slight grin.
"Thank you" is all you can say.
"Is it true?" he harks curiously.
"Huh? What?" you act like you didn’t understand his question
"Well, what you wrote to Lilly"
"You know I like you," you confirm.
In response, you get just another big smile from Jake as he just keeps looking at the screen.
However, he omits the end of the chat, at the point where you got the video.
He knows probably after that it’s about his family.
"I’m very proud of you MC" he starts to talk, "you two worked really well together and I’m amazed how well you were able to solve the puzzles".
A little shy about his praise, you just thanked him.
Exhausted, you fall back on the bed.
Jake closes his laptop, puts it back in his pocket and then slowly lies down next to you.
"I haven’t asked you how you are actually doing" he notes a little depressed.
"At least better than in the last few weeks. It’s all very exhausting, but I can do it" you mumble and turn your head to the left so you can look at him.
His page profile is really beautiful.
"We met at a very strange time," Jake mutters, and he also turns his head in your direction.
For a moment, you look at each other silently.
"You are so wonderful and especially MC, do you know that?" he breathes.
"I don’t know, is that me?" you ask quietly.
"So wonderful that I don’t understand why you’re lying here with me"
"Maybe because you’re special, too, Jake. And even more wonderful than all the people I’ve met so far" you reciprocate his sweet compliment and mean every word seriously.
"Are you sure about this?"
"To 100 percent"
"You deserve someone better than me," he sighs.
"Stop lying," you grinned.
Now you both look at each other silently again, only the second hand and the birds from outside can be heard.
Slowly Jake raises a  hand and wipes a strand of hair from your face.
You take his hand in yours and you cross your fingers with each other.
Jake looks thoughtfully at your hands.
"It’s dangerous what we’re doing here," he mutters.
"You can take that little break, Jake. That's okay," you calm him down.
"Maybe, but it’s dangerous to be here with you. You get such big problems if the persecutors find out you know me," he easily squeezes your hand.
"Jake, don’t worry about it. I know who I’m dealing with and I know it can end badly. But that’s why I don’t care, if we don’t risk it now, it may be too late. And then we’ll never know if it would’ve worked.
At the moment everything is going crazy, so why not at least do what you want for a short time?"
"You should become a motivational trainer" he suggests for fun.
"Do you think? Did my speech help?"
"I agree with your words, but I have so much more to lose. My freedom and looking for Hannah, but those are just the little things. The biggest problem is that I could never live with myself if you got problems just because I was selfish. Against these problems the man without face is nothing, MC. If you go to jail because of me, I could never forgive myself, you understand. And that’s my problem, I don’t know if I can risk it, I don’t want to ruin your whole life.
You made new friends here, when Hannah gets back, you’ll be completely happy, but then there’s me. The guy who runs from the government, that’s not what you deserve", he tries desperately to explain.
"That’s also why I don’t tell you what exactly I did, why I tell you as little as possible. You can’t say anything if you know nothing no matter what they do, you don’t know it. If the agents find you, they definitely do a lie-detector test with you, and hopefully, they won’t do any more than that. But if you don’t know anything, you’re not in danger either."
"I understand your point, I understand your worries and your fear, but, Jake, I’m aware of all of this. I know what happens if you and I can be connected, but I accept it for you and for Hannah."
"But that’s the thing, you shouldn’t put yourself in danger for this, not even for Hannah. And you being in Duskwood is dangerous enough, which is why I’m here with you, because it’s too dangerous."
You pull up an eyebrow and look skeptical.
"You don’t have to take care of me.What   should happen to me? I won’t be alone. One of the others will always be with me. The man without a face can’t do anything to me, "you calm him down.
"I know, I know, but I’m still worried about you"
"But there’s nothing you can do about it, Jake. And the rest of the time we have left, we shouldn’t discuss things we can’t influence. None of us can change the situation"
"I don’t like that you’re right again" he grumbles what makes you smile.
"Do you know I’m happy right now?" you tell him softly, "because of you."
"Why?"
"Because I know you’re doing reasonably well, and because you’re here with me.
And you’re risking your freedom right now because I wished for this meeting. Then how could I not trust you, Jake? You deserve me to be here with you. And that’s also one reason why I don’t care if they get me, you confided in me even though you’re in a difficult time. You trusted me and that’s why I trust you" to support your words, you put his hand on your lips and breathe a short kiss on the back of his hand.
Like he’s petrified, he’s watching you.
"I think I’m really in love," he whispers.
"And I think I’m in love with you too" you giggle softly.
Minimally you slide closer to him and lean slightly with your elbow on the bed to push you a bit upwards.
As if he were considering whether this is a good idea, he eventually slips closer to you, but a lot more than you.
He also leans on the bed to be back on your height, your hands remain united all the time.
His thumb gently caresses the back of your hand.
Not ten centimeters separates your faces from each other.
Jake takes the initiative and leans even further up so that your faces almost touches. You feel his breath on your skin and your body is flooded with excitement. It’s like they just touched by accident.
Slowly, your faces move towards each other until your lips gently touch. But it’s enough to light a fire in you and get Jake to press his lips on yours.
Immediately you close your eyes and return the kiss with as much feeling as he did. You can’t control yourself and grin into the kiss, which also makes Jake smile.
Jake pulls you up to you and pushes you slightly on the bed so you can use your hands more.
But just as quickly the kiss becomes passionate again. A thousand different feelings are buzzing in your head. Despair, fear, happiness, contentment. And that is reflected in your kiss.
Now your two hands separate from each other and Jake wraps both arms around your upper body. You feel a little dizzy and feel like everything is spinning even if you have your eyes closed. Your body tries to cope with all the feelings of happiness and seems to be overwhelmed. Actually, it’s no wonder. You’ve never longed so much for closeness but with Jake now, it’s very different. The kiss last night,
it was beautiful. But that was a very different situation than it is now.you were overwhelmed and a little drunk. First the warm air in the club, then Phil, then suddenly Jake, a kiss, a deal, and then a weird cab driver. All quite a lot at once, but now you can enjoy the kiss, and it’s a very different one from yesterday. This is a relief for both of you, and the beginning of something greater, but also the beginning of an even more stressful time than before. 'Cause how you’re supposed to let Jake go right now, you absolutely don’t know.
You feel like your eyes are filling with tears because of the emotional overload that is currently running through your body. And unfortunately, you two seem to be really starting to have trouble breathing, so you’re must breaking up with each other with a heavy heart. Absolutely out of breath, Jake leans his forehead against yours.
"If the persecutors find me, beat me, okay?" he breathes hard. "Okay, but why?" you giggle.
"Because then I screwed up to be able to kiss you all the time."
In response, you laugh and give him another kiss. You could lie there forever like right now, but Jake’s phone suddenly starts ringing. Annoyed, he rolls his eyes but then stands up from the bed.He gets his cell phone out of his pocket and accepts the call. Instantly you assume the worst. The others are calling to tell him they have to leave. You don’t know how to react and your hands start to shake. His answers leave no room to speculate about what it’s all about, and his facial expressions and posture remain neutral. Shortly after he finishes the phone call, he blows out air and turns to you. You’re already struggling with the tears in your eyes as Jake starts smiling." Well, I think we need to rent a room at the motel."
Confused you look at him, "W-what do you mean?"
"We’ll be safe for the next few days, someone pretending to be me tried to hack the CIA. They think they’ve arrested me"
------
extra material:
"That’s her," he says in a much too high tone. "It’s an honor to finally meet you, I feel like I know you better than Jake knows you. Can you actually scan my personality? Jake always tells me that you are really good at seeing through people and assess" he babbles.
"Oh, is he telling you this?" you ask and grin at Jake.
"Oh yes, if you knew, When he can’t sleep, he tells a lot about you. He doesn’t usually talk that much in a year," giggles Jake’s buddy.
"Max" hisses Jake and looks at him hard.
"And he’s always telling you how impressive you are, and that he’s amazed you don’t have a problem with him being a hacker. And how sweet you are."
"Okay, that’s enough" growls Jake and pushes him. The pushed one begins to laugh and raises his hands up defensively.
"Do you tell such things?" you look amused at him.  "Forget that, please," he grumbles.  "Oh, I’ll never be able to forget that, but to be fair, I’m thrilled with you, too. And you don’t look bad either." You grin cheekily at him.

Tumblr media
WASHINGTON D.C., 2007
(Reader POV)
You had only been to D.C. a few times before to visit your dad, normally under happier circumstances, such as him getting sworn in for another term, but this time was not the case. You got the phone call from your mother the evening before when you quickly packed yours and Jamie’s bags for the flight that left later that night. The few hours you had spent in D.C. already felt like long days. You were physically and emotionally exhausted. Jamie had never been on a plane before and was grappling with the effects of jet lag.
You needed a bit of a pick-me-up yourself, so you ran over to a coffee shop for a bit of a change of scenery. It was about eight o'clock in the morning when you heard your name being called, but not by the barista making your drinks, but by a familiar voice that you had only heard over the phone for a couple of months since his last visit home. You turned around to face the source and locked eyes with Spencer.
“Hey!” You smiled, trying your best to not look like you had just had the longest 24 hours of your life.
“What are you doing here? Why didn’t you say you were gonna be in town?”
“I didn’t know I was gonna be in town until last night!” Spencer could see right through you. He pursed his lips, not asking what was wrong yet, but still opting to check-in and make sure you’re okay.
“How are you feeling? Jet lagged?”
“Some profiler.” Your chuckle came out more annoyed than you would have liked it to.
“What’s up?”
“Nothing, just getting some coffee--”
“No, like, are you okay?” He knew something was wrong, he wasn’t stupid, quite the opposite, by a long shot.
“I’m fine, Spence,” you lied through your teeth.
“Then who isn’t?” Panic and worry flashed across his face, “Is Jamie okay?
“Yes! He’s fine!” You couldn’t help but smile at the relief Spencer displayed that your son was safe and well, his hand coming up to rest over his heart. You hesitated for a second before giving in and telling him why you seemed so off, “My dad’s sick in the hospital.”
“Oh! Do they know what’s wrong with him?”
“Yep. Stage 4 lung cancer.” Your dad had been a smoker for most of your life. He tried to quit after Jamie was born, but the damage had already been done.
Spencer looked genuinely heartbroken as he chewed on the inside of his cheek, trying to think of what to say next “Do you know how much time he has?”
“Couple of weeks if we’re lucky.”
His eyebrow furrowed and his golden eyes softened to an impossible degree, “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. This wasn’t sudden, we’ve been expecting it, but when the doctor says eight to twelve months, and you get through month eight, you start hoping it’s gonna be twelve.”
“Are you going back to the hospital now?”
“Yeah-”
“I’ll come with you!”
“Don’t you have work?”
“I don’t have to be there for another hour and,” he checks his watch, which was pulled over the sleeve of his dark gray cardigan, “fifty-six minutes.”
“The hospital’s out of the way and you hate being late.”
“I hate the thought of you going through this alone even more.” You tried to ignore the warm and fuzzy feeling that gave you but ultimately failed. Those big brown eyes refused to stop studying your face, analyzing any signs that you needed him, which to be fair, you did.
“I’m not alone, I got Jamie and my mom.”
“Even more the reason for me to want to go with you.” He finally dropped the solemn frown and took up a bright smile instead. You swore his grin was contagious because, by the time you both got your coffees, you were smiling just as wide.
You drove back to the hospital in comfortable silence. Walking back to your father’s room felt easier with him by your side. Jamie looked up from his drawing as he saw you approach, beaming at you and his favorite federal agent.
“Doctor Spencer!” He came running up to him and hugging his legs.
“Hey, little man!” Spencer ruffled his hair and grinned down at the tiny human squeezing his arms around his thigh.
Your mother looked up from her book, “Doctor? Spencer? Wait. As in…”
“Yeah, mom.”
She stands and wraps him in a hug, “Oh my goodness, sweetheart, you got so big! You’re all grown up! Oh, and you’re cute, too!” She pinched his now pink cheek as his face twisted into a bashful smile, “Right, Y/N? Spencer got cute!”
Now you were blushing a little.
Why am I blushing? I don’t blush over Spencer!
You pursed your lips and looked him up and down. His striped tie was crooked under his cardigan. His long hair was a bit shaggy, as if he rolled out of bed, showered, and decided to go to work. You just laughed nervously as you met Spencer’s eyes. God, those eyes. “Yeah… I’d say so.”
“You definitely grew into your looks. Honey, this is Spencer. Remember the boy that used to tutor Y/N?”
“Oh, nice to finally meet you, son, I’ve heard a lot about you.” Your father shifted in his bed, managing to sit up slightly.
“You too, sir, I just wish it could have been under better circumstances.”
“Don’t give me any of that ‘sir’ crap, I got enough of that working on the Hill,” your father chuckled but his hearty laugh quickly devolved into a coughing fit. Your mother sat back down on the bed next to him and fed him some ice chips to keep him hydrated.
“So, Spencer, Y/N says you work for the FBI now?” She turns her attention away from her husband and forces a smile.
“Yes! I do.”
You took a seat and sipped your coffee, “He was on the team that helped save Jamie, remember?”
“What division are you in?” Your dad asked.
“The Behavioral Analysis Unit.”
“I got some buddies in the bureau, who’s your supervisor?”
“Aaron Hotchner?”
“Oh, I knew him in his prosecutor days. Helluva lawyer, he got some of my clients put away.”
“Sorry about that.”
“Don’t be, they were guilty, weren’t they?”
Spencer’s phone rang in his pocket, “Speaking of which, I have to go. Got a case.”
“Go! Don’t be late!”
“Go catch the bad guy, Doctor Spencer!”
“Will do, Jamie.” He ruffled his hair before turning to your parents, “Goodbye, Mr. and Mrs. L/N, it was great seeing you.”
“Bye, sweetheart, don’t be a stranger!”
“I’ll walk you out, return the favor.” You walked quietly with him.
“Listen, I don’t know when I’ll be home from this, but I’ll let you know when I get back, and if you’re still here just give me a call, okay?”
“Of course, Spence. Now go catch the bad guy!” You grinned as you parroted your son’s words. He returned your smile and pulled you into a hug. You could feel tears brimming in your eyes, but you fought it off best you could. Spencer could still sense your pain and hugged you as tight as possible. You were the one to pull away first, patting his back and forcing your pursed lips into a smile. His phone started to ring shortly after.
“Don’t let me keep you.”
            (Spencer’s POV)
The case went on for too long. Two whole weeks passed before we were able to come home from Minneapolis. A man was strangling women with short black hair between the ages 30-40 because they reminded him of his mother, it’s standard stuff, it should have been a pretty cut and dry case, but the guy was almost impossible to find, he was completely off the grid. It took Garcia days to just get us a name, let alone contact information. He killed two other women while we were there. One of them was a mother, she had three kids all under the age of 10. Cases like these were always tough, but Gideon had seen enough to talk us all through it. I still wasn’t used to him being gone.
I couldn’t get any sleep on the jet. The nightmares have been coming back with a vengeance since Gideon left. He was like a father to me, my protector, my mentor, and now I have no one.
That’s hyperbolic; I do have the team, and they miss him too, but I’m pretty much alone out on the field. I know I can go to them, but it doesn’t feel right. I don’t like to rely on others because when they leave, I’m by myself.
Which is exactly why I am the only one awake on the jet home.
I suppose I wasn’t totally alone, I could call Y/N, but I wouldn’t wanna bother her if she was with her family. She only has so much time left with her dad. I took my phone out of my pocket anyway and saw a missed call from her last night, I hadn’t seen it before because of the case. If she wanted to talk she probably needed to, right?
I mulled it over in my head, and before I could even come to a decision, my fingers worked on autopilot, dialing the same number I had memorized years ago, and hit call.
Las Vegas, 1994
I picked up the book from the top of the pile she set down on the counter, “You’re reading A Midsummer Night’s Dream?”
“Yeah, for class.”
“If you need any help with that, my mother was a classics professor, I’ve read most of Shakespeare’s works.”
“Really? That’s cool. I’ve read the basics in other classes, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Macbeth, all that, but this one is definitely my favorite so far.”
“Really?”
“Yeah! I don’t know why, but the idea of falling in love with the wrong person just sorta… I dunno… resonates, I guess.”
“Yeah, same here.”
She snorted, “You’re like 12, how would you know about that?”
I bit my lip before explaining, “Reminds me of my parents. They loved each other at one point, obviously, but not enough to stop my dad from leaving us.”
She cringed to herself as if she realized some horrible mistake, “Jeez, I’m sorry, man.”
“It’s okay, you didn’t know.”
“How long ago did he leave?”
“Two years ago.”
“So it’s just been you and your mom?”
“Yeah.”
She stared at the pencil as she twisted it in between her fingers. Her eyes refused to meet mine. “My dad has worked in D.C. pretty much my whole life, and a lot of the time it was just my mom and me. He was always home for Christmas and birthdays, he came to all my recitals as a kid, but he was gone the rest of the year. I see him maybe… fifteen days out of the year?”
She finally looked up, if only for a second. Seeing her eyes, at last, I took note of the sadness behind them, “Which is fine, it’s better than nothing, but I don’t really have a dad the other 350 days of the year, you know? I could call him, but I don’t, it’s always ‘Sorry sweetheart, I’m a bit busy right now.’”
“Yeah, my dad was always too busy too.”
“I know our situations are still really different, and you probably already know this after two years, but it does get easier.”
Present Day
(Reader POV)
You click the button to answer the call, “Spencer?”
“Hey! We’re landing soon, you still in D.C.?” His voice is scratchy like he had just woken up, or like he hadn’t spoken to anyone in a couple of hours.
“Y-yeah! I’m still staying with my mom.”
“How’s your dad?”
You didn’t answer. You didn’t have to, your silence answered his question well enough.
“Oh, shit…” Spencer groaned, “God, Y/N, I’m so sorry…”
“Don’t be, you didn’t know.”
“How long ago?”
“Last week, the funeral was yesterday.” You could hear him grimace over the phone.
“Y/N I am… so sorry I couldn’t be there for you—”
“Don’t be! You had to work, it’s okay, Spencer.”
“I should have called sooner.”
You almost laughed at his tone, “Spencer, you were catching a serial killer, it’s not your responsibility to make sure I’m okay.”
“I know, but—”
“But nothing. I’m fine.”
“How’s Jamie, god, how’s your mother?”
“She’s holding up. I’m helping her out for a while, I don’t want her to be in this house alone.” You decided to leave out the part about you putting a downpayment on an apartment a couple of blocks away from your mother’s house for now.
“How’s Jamie doing?” He asked with perfect timing as Jamie flopped onto the couch behind you.
“Wanna talk to him? He’s right here.”
“Can I? Please?”
“Jamie, baby, wanna talk to Doctor Spencer?” He didn’t even say yes before he leaped up from his seat and grabbed the phone from your hand.
“Hi, Doc!”
“Hey, little man! How’s it going? How are you?” You could still hear his excited voice even though it was nowhere near your ear anymore. It brought a smile to your face as you saw Jamie light up at the sound of your friend on the other side of the call.
“I’m okay. Did you catch the bad guy?”
“Yes, Jamie, we got him. How’s your mom?”
“She’s saying she’s fine, but she’s still really sad.”
“Well, can you put her back on with me?” Jamie hands the phone back to you and runs off to return to his coloring book and crayons.
You sighed before putting the phone back to your ear, “Don’t worry about me, Spence—”
“Come to the BAU.”
He said the words so fast you almost needed him to repeat it, “What?”
“I mean it, I’ll call you when we land, come visit. Bring Jamie and your mom.”
“Won’t you have a ton of work to do when you land?”
“I couldn’t sleep, I did all my paperwork on the jet.”
“Spencer—”
“Please. I need to see you guys.” He was practically begging. It tugged at your heart in a familiar way, but there was a pit in your stomach that you couldn’t place.
“What happened on the case?”
He sighed, “I don’t want to talk about it, okay? Just come in like, an hour.”
You tried to lighten the mood just a little bit, “My mom’s been obsessively baking, want us to bring you your favorite?”
“Did she make her famous oatmeal cookies?” You could almost see his face and the way his brown eyes lit up, even while he was on a plane hours away.
The image brought a soft smile to your face and sparked a tiny bit of light in your heart, “Yep!”
“Y/N L/N, if you bring me some, I will be forever indebted to you.”
“You owe me nothing, Doctor Reid.”
Security waved you through to the elevator, Spencer had cleared you for entry already. One guard hit the button for the sixth floor and sent you up, one hand holding Jamie’s and the other holding a Tupperware of your mom’s cookies. When the doors opened, you saw the entrance to the bullpen, desks filled with paperwork, and busy agents trying to get it all done. As the three of you crept through the hall to the glass doors, your eyes locked onto Spencer, who was sprawled out in his office chair with a thick book, legs propped up on his desk, and glasses balanced on the ridge of his nose.
“Hi! Who are you here to see?” A chipper blonde with purple cat eyeglasses and curly ponytails waved at you from down the hall.
“Spencer Reid?”
“Oh! He mentioned he’d have visitors, you must be Y/N! I’m Penelope.”
“That’s a pretty name!” Jamie beamed up to the woman, who clutched a hand over her heart and returned his smile.
“Oh! Thank you, sweetheart! What’s your name, kiddo?”
“Jamie!”
“Oh you are just precious, he is precious, Y/N, good kid.”
You laughed at the pair’s enthusiasm, “Thank you, can we just go straight in?”
“Yep! Go ahead!”
You walked up to his desk and placed the cookies next to his computer, pulling his attention away from his book. He turned to look up at you, closing the book and throwing it where his feet rested before he jumped up to wrap his arms around you. Jamie hugged his leg and your mother pressed a kiss to his cheek.
“Hey, how are you guys doing?”
“Spencer, we’re fine.”
He didn’t say anything, just examined your face for any sign of a lie. The frustration on his face said he didn’t find one.
“Stop profiling me, I’m okay.”
“Mommy, can I have a cookie now?” Jamie eyed the container like a hawk; he shared Spencer’s love of oatmeal cookies, especially from your mom.
“Right! You brought your cookies, thank you so much, Mrs. L/N.”
“You’re not a kid anymore, honey, you can call me by my first name.”
“No, I absolutely cannot,” he laughed.
“Y/N?”
You turned around and saw the woman who hugged you while you cried when you thought your son was gone: JJ.
“Hi! Good to see you again!” You brought her in for a hug while Spencer continued to catch up with Jamie and your mom.
“You too! Jamie got so big!”
“Yeah, he’s starting 3rd grade soon!” You reached around to ruffle Jamie’s hair.
“When does he start?”
“A few weeks! We gotta go back to school shopping!”
“Ooh, that’s exciting! So you’re heading home soon?”
“Um…” You glanced at Spencer and your mom, who was pestering him about whether or not he had a girlfriend, “Actually, I just thought it would be best for us to stay close to my mom. Jamie likes it here, so we’re actually going to be moving here before school starts.”
“A new school! Are you excited, Jamie?”
“Yeah!”
Spencer, still a blushing mess thanks to your mother’s nosiness, sputtered out “Uh… Excited for what?”
“To move to D.C.!” You raised your hands in a little “Surprise!” motion.
“W-what?” He couldn’t stop himself from looking delighted even if he tried.
“We’re moving here to stay close to my mom.”
“She’s been such a good help,” she gestured to the cookies, half gone over the course of the conversation, “I’m not really ready to give her up just yet.”
“Spence, you should show her around!” JJ’s face had an unreadable look, but I guess that’s what profilers are for “Take her sightseeing. Jamie, have you been to the Washington Monument yet?”
“Nope! Doctor Spencer, can you take us?”
“Sure, little man, you want your mom and grandma to come with?”
“Yes!”
Spencer grinned at him, ruffling his curls before smiling at you. His eyes were scrunched into thin lines from his cheeks, but there was still something behind them. Something you couldn’t quite read. His smile softened slightly and you finally got a clear view of his hazel eyes. His lips parted like he was about to say something, but Jamie cut him off again.
“Ooh! Ooh! Can we go to the Smithsonian?”
“Oh, honey, you’re gonna wish you didn’t say that,” JJ joked.
“The kid knows everything, you’ll be there for hours,” a deep voice said behind you.
“Morgan!” You smiled and stretched your arms out to hug him.
“Good to see you again, Y/N.”
When you turned back to Spencer, his warm grin was gone, replaced by a glare directed at Morgan. Had something happened with them? Last you heard they were best friends. Maybe that’s what happened on the case? Maybe that’s why he was so upset on the phone? Whatever it was had to be bad because he barely spoke for the rest of the visit.
A few weeks later, after you were all moved into your new apartment and Jamie was settled into his new school, you called Spencer. He owed you a trip to the Washington Monument. On your little day trip, there was no such thing as silence. Even in the quiet museum, Spencer’s voice filled the air, spewing facts about the monument, the memorial, the exhibits, and everything in between. Jamie loved to learn, so he hung onto every word that he heard.
“Plans for the monument’s development actually started in 1783, before Washington was even elected president. D.C. wasn’t even the capital of the country yet. Washington was actually against the monument because he didn’t want to use public funds for it, but after his death, Congress wanted to build him a mausoleum--”
You didn’t mind the rants. You still loved to listen to him ramble. Even if you didn’t understand what he was talking about sometimes, the sound of his voice was just soothing, especially after the stress of moving across the country.
Jamie got tired after walking around all day after the tour of the National Museum of Natural History and the Washington Monument, so your mom offered to take him home. You planted a kiss to his forehead and ruffled his hair, hugging your mom goodbye as Spencer high fived him and waved as they went off in the direction of home.
“You know, you didn’t have to stay with me. If you wanna go home too, you can.”
“No. I wanna stay with you.”
A small smile crept across his lips, blush rising to his cheeks. He bit his lips and looked down at his feet as he started walking off to the next stop on his little tour.
“Where to now, Doc?”
“It’s a surprise.”
“Come on, tell me, tell me!”
“No, ‘cuz then it’s not a surprise!”
“I’m aware of the definition of surprise, you don’t need to have an eidetic memory to know that.” You would just have to rely on your less refined profiling skills to figure out where you were going. You were on foot, so it couldn’t be too far.
“Why aren’t we taking a cab?”
“Because I wanna walk with you.”
Just hail a cab, it takes way less time than--
Oh.
You walked side by side for the remainder of the distance. He did most of the talking, telling you stories about the team. You took notice of the softness in his voice when he talked about Morgan. He wasn’t bitter anymore.
“--And then Garcia answered the phone.”
“Oh, god, what’d she say?”
“‘Talk dirty to me.’”
“No!”
“Yep!”
“She said that to your boss.”
“Morgan was mortified, you should have seen his face.”
You looked at him while he grinned at the memory. It was the most at peace you’d seen him in… well, a while.
“So… you guys are cool now?”
The peace was replaced with confusion, “What do you mean?”
Your pace faltered, but you kept walking, “Didn’t you guys…? Weren’t you fighting?”
“No? Why would you think that?”
You pursed your lips and furrowed your brows, “No reason.”
Why else would he have been mad at Morgan when I went to visit? You thought, There’s no other reason! Unless…
Oh--
“We’re here!” Spencer stopped in his tracks, looking up at a large white structure with tall windows and stone carvings decorating the walls. You turned and saw the sign out front that read: “Folger Shakespeare Library.”
“Spencer…” You gaped at the sign, a small, awe-filled smile tugging at your lips.
“I remembered how much you loved Shakespeare in school, I thought you’d get a kick out of this.”
“Spencer, this is… This is wonderful!”
“Good surprise?”
“Great surprise!”
You grabbed him by the arm and tugged him up the front steps as he digs through his pockets for his wallet. Once inside, he bought two tickets for the next show: Midsummer Night’s Dream. Your favorite. It didn’t start for another half hour, so he led you to the reading room.
The room was beautiful, to put it lightly. Three ornate chandeliers hung from the ceiling. The furniture and accents were all done in a dark wood, shelves packed tightly with books. The setting sun shone through the breathtaking stained glass windows. An unlit fireplace rested against the wall. Spencer led you up to the second level, a balcony wrapping around the border of the room.
“Thank you for today,” you beamed, “I haven’t seen Jamie that happy since…”
“I know the feeling. I haven’t felt this okay since…” His gaze dropped to his feet, trying to swallow the words that came out too soon.
“Since what?”
“Since uh...” He glanced back up to your face, “Since Gideon left the team.”
Spencer never told you he left. Agent Gideon kept tabs on Jamie after his rescue. For the last three years, he got a card in the mail on Christmas and his birthday. He always checked in and asked how he was doing. When you went to visit Spencer at the BAU a few weeks ago, you wanted to say hi to Agent Gideon and thank him for his consideration, but you hadn’t seen him. You thought he was just taking a personal day, he worked too hard anyways from what Spencer told you.
“Spence, why didn’t you tell me?”
“I didn’t think you’d care.”
The words were like a spark that shocked your heart awake from a lovely sleep, and now it was upset to be so rudely awoken, “Of course I care! What kind of friend would I be if I didn’t wanna know the reason you’ve been so… off.”
“What do you mean ‘off?’”
“You don’t have to be a profiler to see you haven’t been yourself in… when did Gideon leave?”
He played with a loose thread on the sleeve of his sweater and looked back down at his feet, the toe of his converse nudging at the emerald green carpet, “Couple of months ago.”
“You could have told me.”
“You’ve had your own stuff going on. It’s not that bad.”
“You don’t have to convince yourself that you aren’t having a hard time just because I am. You don’t always have to be the hero.”
“Neither do you, you know.”
“I really am fine.”
“Y/N, he was your dad, you’re allowed to be upset.”
“I am, okay?” You snapped, “I miss him like hell! He was always just one phone call away and now…” One hand carded through your hair as you inhaled deeply, placing your other hand on the banister beside you to steady yourself.
“I’m not going to pretend that our situations are the same because they aren’t, but I’ll tell you the same thing you told me when we were kids.” He placed his hand close to yours on the banister, your fingers almost touching. Almost. “It gets easier, not seeing him every day. But just ‘cuz he wasn’t around doesn’t mean you can’t feel bad.”
You force a smile, “Thanks, Spence.”
“Of course.” He wrapped his arms around you and held you tight. The hug wasn’t particularly emotional. Neither one of you felt like you were about to cry, it just felt nice to be in each other's embrace.
“Show’s starting soon.” He muttered into your ear before pulling away, walking off towards the theater with you following close behind.

Most weekends at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry could usually be spent in the neighbouring, picturesque village of Hogsmeade. Students, in their droves, descended upon the wizarding village – all ready to spent their knuts, sickles and galleons on whatever took their fancy in the array of shops that neatly lined the small high street.
For many of the students in Third Year and above, they relished the chance to spend a whole day outside of Hogwarts. You would have liked to have gone with them, but in a fit of anger your mother and father flat out refused to sign the yearly permission slip meaning that your visits to the small, sleepy village had been put to a stop.
You maintained fiercely that their punishment was unjustified. Your use of magic outside of school was perfectly reasonable considering that the man they had tried to set their daughter up with for an arranged marriage was nothing short of a creep that had to be put in his place.
Your reaction to the unsolicited attention of the repulsive man caused nothing smaller than a war between your parents and yourself. They felt humiliated that you should act such a way in front of a respectable, eligible gentleman who had taken the time out of his busy schedule to come to dinner and meet with you. You felt nothing short of fury at your parents for thinking you would ever go along with archaic traditions that should have died long ago.
It led to your parents taking the one thing that you looked forward to every school year away from you. In front of you, they tore apart the permission slip and threw it onto the fire where you watched as it turned to grey ash.
Your weekends were now spent either in the common room or the library; working on your homework, studying for an exam or simply reading to pass the time. By the fourth Hogsmeade weekend of the year, you had explored the castle enough to attract Filch’s unwanted attention, so you decided to reign in your exploits to the parts of the castle you knew were safest.
The common room had quickly become your safe haven after the third time you were questioned by Filch. Both the morning and afternoon of any Hogsmeade weekend spent reading over any work and napping periodically by the fire.
Stretching out on the couch, you finish reading over your notes from Potions, making a mental note to ask Slughorn whether you could borrow his classroom next weekend to test a theory that had come to you only a few moments ago. Another Hogsmeade weekend and you had made doubly sure to keep yourself occupied through it all – happy to see your friends off; already sick of their pitying looks.
“(Y/L/N)!” Sirius shouts; jumping the back of the couch and settling next to you.
“Sirius, how can I help?” You ask with a smile; turning to face the teenager you’ve known since the two of you were in nappies.
“I can’t help but notice that you haven’t been seen in Hogsmeade for a while now. One can’t help but wonder…”
You laugh, “I’m surprised it’s taken you this long to ask me considering our parents are like this,” You cross your fingers together; indicating just how close the two families were – Sirius’ mother visiting yours for tea at least three times a week.
“What happened?”
You sigh, clutching your book to your chest, “My parents cruel and unusual form of punishment.”
“What?”
You smile at the memory, “I jinxed the guy they were trying to marry me off to, so they tore up the permission slip in front of me and threw it onto the fire in a fit of dramatics.”
“Why did you jinx him?”
“I don’t want to say.”
“What did he do?” Sirius asks; voice low and lethal.
You sigh, “His hands tried to wander under the dining table. They didn’t get very bloody far before he was met with the finger removing jinx,” You huff proudly, “See how far he gets without the counter-jinx, the prat.”
“But you’re okay? You weren’t hurt?”
You shake your head; smiling at the care in Sirius’ voice. “I’m fine, I promise,” You reassure, “However, my parents thought it fitting to tear up my permission slip to Hogsmeade hence why I stay in the castle every weekend.”
Something in Sirius’ chest loosens at your words; happy to know that you’re okay and that you gave the creep what he deserved but he frowns at your parents response. “Did you explain to your parents what he tried to do?”
You fix him with a look that tells him of course you did, “They refused to listen; not someone like him,” Your voice takes on a higher pitch as you mimic your mother, “He’s such a responsible man from a wonderful family – I don’t know how you could do this to him.”
Sirius snorts at your impression; noting how accurate it is. “I’m sorry,” He murmurs.
You wave his apology with a swift movement of your hand, “I’ve gotten used to it now. You wouldn’t believe how on top of homework I am.”
He laughs, “Still, all the same.”
“I know,” You whisper.
Sirius pats your knee; he gestures towards the door with his head where his friends had walked through only a moment ago, “I better…”
You nod, “Of course. Go! Go – have a nice time.”
Sirius throws a small smile your way before he leaves the common room.
For the first time in the five weekends you had been unable to visit the humble village; you had never hated your parents more.
-------
Sirius Black continues to play on your mind in a way he hasn’t done since your crush on him in Second Year when you were smaller and more naïve. The friendship between you was a lifelong one; families being so close that there was no other option but to get along as your mothers would drink tea and gossip and your fathers would conduct business in offices away from prying eyes and ears.
Your feelings for the elder Black sibling became news to you when you were turning ten years old. You found yourself wondering what it would be like to hold his hand longer and to hug him whenever instead of in greeting or in farewell – innocent daydreams of a child.
Nothing like the daydreams you now found yourself occupied with whenever you happened to find yourself staring at his mouth that little bit too long or when you zoned in on how his hands would run through his long hair and thought about what it would feel like between your fingers.
Your feelings for Sirius Black came surging back; knocking you breathless and leaving you feeling half way mad. He seemed to take over your mind; thinking of him constantly and not all the thoughts completely innocent. From a  simple smile in your direction, he had you feeling like a fool in love. From the smallest piece of attention he could give you, he had your heart in your throat.
Soon enough, you were admitting to yourself that your crush from Second Year had returned stronger than before and that there was no doubt about it. You were arse over tea kettle in love with Sirius Black.
He starts to spend his Hogsmeade weekends with you. Starting slowly; leaving the Marauders every now and then before eventually stopping joining them altogether. They all share a similar look one Saturday when instead of joining them at the door to the common room, Sirius joins you in your familiar spot on the couch.
Sirius waves to James, Remus and Peter as they depart for Hogsmeade; each of them shouting promises of bringing back sweets from Honeyduke’s as well as a surprise from Zonko’s. Sirius shakes his head at his friends before turning his full attention to you.
You smile softly at the disowned heir to the Black family fortune; repressing the growing urge to run your fingers through his hair, to kiss him senseless – to do anything with him really.
“What are the plans for today then?”
You roll your eyes, “You don’t have to do this Sirius, you can go be with your friends.”
Sirius waves his hand in a dismissive fashion, tutting, “I see them all the time. I live with them remember?” He shakes his head, “I like spending time with you.”
You chew on the inside of your cheek to keep your smile at bay, “I was thinking of finishing the book I’ve been reading.”
Sirius throws his head back with an overdramatic groan, “We did that last time!”
“And I’ve started a new book since then!” You sigh, “Like I said, Sirius, you don’t need to stay with me.”
“I want to spend time with you, but we don’t need to spend all our time here,” He says, gesturing to the dark red walls of the common room.
“I’m not bothered here. Every time I left the common room, Filch would always bother me.”
Sirius frowns, “Well we’re going out today,” He pats your leg, standing up, “Come on. Up you get, we’re off on a walk.”
“A walk?”
“A walk. An amble. A dawdle. That thing you do with your legs. Whatever you prefer to call it.”
You snort, “I know what a walk is, Sirius.”
“Then why ask?”
“Don’t make me regret coming with you.”
He grins at you, “Never, my dear.”
Sirius holds an arm out to you which you take; hooking your elbow through his. He sets off at a slow pace; holding the door to the common room open for you like the gentleman he was raised to be before leading you down the corridors.
With most students in Hogsmeade and the First and Second years occupied with a Quidditch training camp being run by the Holyhead Harpies, the corridors of the school are relatively quiet as you and Sirius continue your walk through the school that’s more of a second home rather than a place of education.
“Are your parents still angry?” Sirius asks out of the blue.
“I couldn’t care less though; it was self-defence and I’m happier for it. but you know them; there never was a couple who could hold a grudge like dear old mum and dad.”
“Oh, I don’t know. I reckon I could beat you.”
“How have you been since that night?”
Sirius looks off into the distance; mind immediately returning to the night he had walked out on his family, on Regulus. He had told you about when the school year had restarted after the Easter break.
“Good,” He eventually says, “I’m living with James’ family now. I’ve always been welcome at the Potters.”
You nod; happiness washing over you, “I’m glad you’ve found somewhere, I was worried when you sent me the one letter.”
“I wanted to send more,” He says, voice pained, “But I didn’t know if your parents would be nosy.”
“You were right not to,” You sigh, “Since they heard about our friendship rekindling, they keep looking at me as if I’m going to run any moment.”
“Would you?”
“Would I run away?”
He nods; pausing in his steps. You stop alongside him; thinking over your answer, “It depends. If I have to sit through another arranged dinner and possible marriage, then happily. If my parents suddenly see reason, then perhaps our relationship could improve.”
“How long have they been trying to marry you off?”
“Since I turned seventeen so just over a year since my birthday is one of the first of the year.”
Sirius chuckles humourlessly, “I’m glad I got out when I could.”
You nudge his shoulder, “All it means is that your life has taken a different path, Sirius. But I know whatever you decide to do, it will be the right path. It’s you walking it after all; it can’t be bad if you’re the one walking it.”
Sirius doesn’t reply to your words. He’s too overcome by your words to even think of replying. Out of the fallout from his family, the one thing he was concerned about was how it would affect your relationship with you but when he saw you after Easter and all you did was pull him into a tight hug, he knew that everything would be okay and that you would be going nowhere.
He doesn’t need to say the words out loud to accept them; he knows that he has fallen in love with you. Sirius realises with a jolt that he has most likely always loved you; only coming to the realisation since spending more and more time with you over your parental imposed school grounding.
Sirius doesn’t know what path his life is going to take; he has the Marauders and he knows he has them for life – very little coming between them to split them permanently. But through it all; through all of his late night worrying and upset, Sirius hopes and hopes that your life starts to wander down the same path as his.
By this time, you’ve circled the courtyard, ready to make your way to Hagrid’s Hut and beyond. Both happy enough to now spend the rest of your day dawdling around the castle; talking everything and nothing – simply spending the time with each other. The feelings that are harboured by the both of you simmer in the small space between your bodies; spoken yet unspoken.
The conversation from earlier, and the tension, has dissipated leaving behind a light, fun atmosphere that lets you see the best of Sirius. As a result, he has your heart thumping in your throat to the point where your pulse sounds in your ears.
It’s when he makes one comment about your closeness as children that has a particularly flirty tone and meaning that has your back straightening in realisation, “Are you… Are you flirting with me?”
“I might be…” Sirius comments with a smile.
“Not even you could be so cruel, Sirius, to bring up a childhood crush like that and play with my emotions.”
“What childhood crush?”
“Tell me you knew?”
At the blank expression on his face and the curiosity alive in his eyes, you let out a laugh, “I had the biggest crush on you when we were kids… even when we started Hogwarts I had a crush on you! You had to know, surely?”
He shakes his head vigorously, “I had no idea about it.”
“Oh…” You trail off.
“It was reciprocated if you were wondering.”
You sit up straighter, “It was?”
Sirius blushes; pushing his hair back from his face, “It was.”
Silence falls between the two of you. You’ve both stopped walking; steps paused in the middle of the corridor – hardly any sound around you other than the occasional hoot of an owl and a laugh from a young student. For what feels like forever, you simply stare at each other.
Your stomach turns with anticipation; readying yourself for the question you’re about to ask. Taking a deep breath, you break the silence with a single question, “And what about now?”
“Now?”
You nod, “Are those feelings reciprocated now?”
“They might be…”
“They might be, or they are?” You ask breathlessly; his words setting aflame the hope in your heart.
“They are. They really are.”
“Thank Merlin,” you gasp before pulling Sirius into a kiss by the hem of his t-shirt.
He responds immediately; taking control of the kiss as his lips glide against yours seamlessly. There could no arranged marriage, no relationship you could ever have that could compare to this one moment. In this one instant, all is defined, and you know that at almost eighteen, Sirius Black was to be the one for you.
A hand runs through his hair as the other anchors itself in his t-shirt; finally getting to feel his hair after so long craving it. With a slight tug of his dark locks, you smile against his mouth at the groan you elicit from the back of his throat. You file that piece of information away for later when it can be explored thoroughly. Entirely wrapped up in him, you give yourself over to him, letting his familiar scent of cloves and sweet orange wash over you.
Breaking the kiss, Sirius rests his forehead on yours for a moment, catching his breath and letting the contentment wash over him. He places kisses over your face – your nose, your cheeks, your forehead before finally pecking your lips in an open mouthed kiss.
You beam up at him; happy to have this moment with him in a quiet school where you won’t be interrupted by students, teachers, or ghosts alike.
With a wide grin, Sirius drops his hold of your waist to take hold of your hand and begins to lead you back through the corridors and to the moving staircases. Laughing, you match his pace as you run up the stairs, taking extra care for those that start to shift.
“Where are you taking me?” You ask with a loud giggle.
“It’s a secret,” Sirius says; turning quickly to face you. He places a finger to his lips in a hush. Then and there, you have to resist pulling him into another kiss from the look on his face; the utter delight spread over it combined with the intense mischief and elation alight in his eyes has your heart beating even faster.
Saying no more, you continue on your journey, letting Sirius guide you every step of the way. Arriving on the Third Floor, Sirius turns left, pulling you towards the statue at the end of the corridor. The statue of the One-Eyed Witch had always left you feeling uneasy; as if she was watching you with her one remaining eye – it seemed to follow you wherever you stepped.
Sirius stops in front of the statue; staring up at her for a moment before fixing his gaze on you. His hand comes up to brush your cheek, “Compared to you: stars pale, and the moon dulls. However, I know that your reaction to what I’m about to show you will even pale the brightest galaxy.”
You duck your head; uncertain of what to reply, feeling somewhat overwhelmed by the sheer emotion in his voice. Sirius tips your chin back up with a single finger, “Fancy going to Hogsmeade?”
You shake your head, “Sirius, I can’t. My parents, remember?”
“I remember just fine. Still, fancy going to Hogsmeade?”
“How?”
Sirius points to the statue of the one-eyed witch, “Through there.”
“Sirius, I love you but that’s a statue.”
He smirks, “It’s good to know you love me, but I need you to say the magic word.”
“And what’s that?”
Leaning close to your ear; so close that his breath is warm across your face, he whispers a single word. You find it hard to concentrate with him so close; his front pressed to your side. His lips brush against your ear and you let yourself arch into his touch as you try to focus on the word being whispered.
“Got it?”
Nodding your head, you step towards the statue. Your hand still wrapped in Sirius’, you whisper, “Dissendium,” Your voice barely louder than a breath.
You take a hasty step back when the hump to the witch opens, revealing a small slide leading into nothing but darkness. You turn to Sirius in awe; a large smile on your face, “How did you?”
Sirius simply shrugs, “I have my way, love. Now, Hogsmeade?”
Tightening your grip on his hand; tugging him into a long kiss, you can barely contain your elation with the teenager now pressing against you. Breaking the kiss but remaining close enough that your lips brush his as you whisper, “I’d go with you anywhere.”

Begin Again
Summary: Walter Marshall is a dedicated homicide detective doing his best to balance his work life with being a single father to a teenage girl. Fiona Sparks is a woman doing her best to take care of everyone and everything around her, except for herself. Neither has had the best luck with relationships, but once they meet, they’re willing to give it another shot, this time with each other. (It’s basically just romantic fluff)
Pairing: Marshall and OFC.
Rating: PG
Warnings: Mentions of death, cancer.
A/N - This is a sequel to ‘All I’ve Ever Known’. I started writing this because I needed an escape for some personal stuff going on and my coping mechanism included giving Marshall all the love that man needed, and imagining him being the softest boyfriend to me, then passing those details on to Fiona (my OFC).
I also made a Spotify playlist for this story, if anyone is interested - Begin Again Playlist

Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5, Chapter 6, Chapter 7
The last Wednesday in October was a gray, misty, windy day. It was cold, the kind you felt more in your bones than anywhere else, with the sky occasionally spitting out sleet. I spent the entire twenty-minute drive to my job at Waverly Catering clutching the steering wheel so tightly that my hands were cramping by the time I arrived from white-knuckling it the whole way there. Usually, I would get to work early enough to enjoy the silence and finish off my coffee before officially starting my workday. That day, however, I spent the very little extra time I had trying to get my hands to stop hurting, then chugged down my coffee that had cooled dramatically to a gross lukewarm temperature.
Before going in, I checked my phone. I always kept it on silent while I drove. My mom had a tendency to text me, make a dozen spelling mistakes because of auto-correct, then correct them one by one, leaving me with about thirteen separate texts to read. It didn’t use to bother me, I thought it was charming and very distinctly Mom. But when she’d gotten sick at the beginning of the year, every text she sent that I couldn’t read immediately made me panic, worrying that something terrible had happened to her, even when I’d just seen her at home a few minutes before. So for my sanity - and hers - I started putting my phone on silent until I got to work, or wherever else I was going. It was a habit I’d kept even after she’d gone into remission because her cancer may have been gone, but my anxiety over her wasn’t.
That morning when I checked my phone, I saw that I had two texts, but they weren’t from Mom.
Marshall:  Good morning, Fi. I hope that I get to see you today. I’ll be chained to  my desk with paperwork for a while. This is the first time I’ve not dreaded it. You’re my silver lining.
That was cheesy. I’m sorry. I’m bad at this.
And just like that, all of my stress melted away. The weather didn’t matter, my disappointing coffee didn’t matter, even the cramping in my hands didn’t matter. All that did matter was that Walter Marshall thought of me as his silver lining. Yes it was early days, yes we’d barely known each other a month, yes we’d only gone on two dates, but he made me happier than I’d been in a long time. I felt like I’d been holding my breath for two years, starting when my dad had died in a car crash, followed by my boyfriend Ezra breaking up with me, then losing my job as an interior designer, and capping off with my mom’s cancer diagnoses. Then Walter came along and it was like I could finally breathe again.
Me:  Please don’t apologize. You have no idea how much I needed to read that this morning. Feel free to be as  cheesy as you want. And I hope I get to see you today, too, even if it  means you’re chained to your desk.
Marshall:  If I don’t see you for some reason,  can I call you tonight? I miss your  voice and you make me want to get better at this talking thing.
I could feel myself blushing. Even over the phone he made me feel like a teenager with a crush. I had no idea that anyone could make me feel that way as an adult, but he did every time he texted me.
Me:  Of course you can. Even if we do see  each other, you can still call, if you want? Practice makes perfect, and all that.
Marshall: I’d like that. Talk to you soon.
I sat back in my seat with a sigh as I looked out at the sleet falling from the gray sky, spattering my windshield, blurring out the image of the trees in the park across from me blowing and bending in the wind.
It was going to be a good day.

“You look...dare I say it? Happy?” Darcy said as I walked into her office.
I smiled. “You may dare to say it because yes, I am quite happy.”
“And what brings you to such an extreme emotion so early on such a disgusting day?”
I went to her desk and sat in the chair opposite her. “Well, for one, I know that you’re about to do me a big favor that I will forever be grateful for.”
“Fiona Sparks asking for a favor? I’ll mark the day in my calendar,” she joked. “What kind of favor do you need?”
“I need a copy of the peanut butter cookie recipe.”
“For what purpose?”
“See, that’s where the happiness part comes into play and you, being one of my dearest friends, would love to see me happy.”
“I would but I’m unsure how a cookie recipe is going to do that.”
“It’s not for me,” I said, smiling wide. “I met this guy -”
“What? Who?” she asked enthusiastically, her eyes wide with excitement.
“His name is Walter Marshall. He’s our detective who never changes his lunch order.”
“You’re dating one of the homicide detectives? You can feel free to thank me later for giving you that order, by the way. But right now I want details: How long have you been dating and why am I just now finding out about it?”
“We’re not technically dating. I met him a few weeks ago for the first time and we went on two dates last week.”
“You haven’t dated anyone in over two years, and then you go on two dates in one week?”
“Well, the first was just a coffee date. Saturday we tried having a proper one.”
“Tried?” she asked, raising her eyebrow.
“He wanted to take me to dinner, so we went to an Italian place, but before we could order, his daughter called. She was supposed to be at a Halloween party, but some of her friends had lied to her, I guess, and it ended up being a basement party with slightly older boys and she felt uncomfortable, so we went and picked her up. Then we all went for pizza together.”
“He has a daughter, which is some heavy baggage to begin with, but you met her on your second date? That’s a lot, Fiona.”
“I know it seems like it, but it’s really not. She’s a good kid. And he’s an amazing father, which, oddly, just makes him more attractive,” I said. “But that’s not the point. The point is that his daughter was, understandably, a little iffy about me being with him when he picked her up until she found out that I’m the one who brings the cookies. She apparently loves them and I told her that I might be able to get her a copy of the recipe and that seemed to pave the way for her not hating me instantly. And she’s thirteen, so that’s a pretty big deal.”
“I have so many questions right now but I can’t sort them all out so I’m going to be annoying you with them all day, just be prepared for that. All I want to know right now is if you want the recipe laminated or not?”
I let out a relieved breath. “Yes, please, if you don’t mind. And thank you so much, Darcy. You have no idea how much this means to me.”
“I do know. You never ask for anything, even simple things, so the fact that you’re willing to ask me for a favor means this is a pretty big deal,” she said. “He must be a good guy.”
I nodded. “He really is.”

I arrived at the police station that morning a little before eleven. I’d left the shop early, worried the weather might get bad again and didn’t want to be late for my delivery. Thankfully the sleeting had stopped, allowing me to get there a few minutes early. A few minutes that I used up trying to pull my dolly through the parking lot. The lot had been salted, which was good in that at least it wasn’t icy, but the wheels on my dolly didn’t seem to like the brine mixture. They kept locking up on me. Between that and having to fight against the roaring wind, it took me an embarrassingly long time to reach the station door. Before I could push it open, someone opened it from the inside for me. I looked up, expecting to see Officer Bates. He was the security officer that was posted downstairs and always went through the containers full of lunches that I brought to the homicide unit every week. Instead, I saw Marshall.
“Hello,” he said with a smile.
I immediately felt like giggling. The last time I’d seen him, we’d kissed. And seeing him right then, seeing his beautiful, handsome face, I wanted so badly to kiss him again. Instead, I felt myself grow shy as I blushed so fiercely that my cheeks stung with the new heat that rushed to them.
“Hi,” I said. He pulled the door open all the way, then stepped back, allowing me to walk in. My stomach fluttered as I looked back at him. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” He closed the door behind me. “May I help you with your cart?”
“No, it’s okay.”
“Would you let me help you take it back to your car when you leave, at least?”
I fought every instinct inside of me that insisted I say no. Darcy was right: I hated asking for even simple things. I never wanted to burden anyone. But since I’d met Marshall, I’d learned that his way of showing interest or affection was to do things for me. But he always asked first, wanting my permission. It challenged me, but in a good way. I didn’t need to always go it alone if I didn’t have to.
“Um, yeah, I’d appreciate that. Thank you,” I said. “The wheels didn’t seem to agree with the salted parking lot. You could probably pull it a lot easier than me.”
Marshall stayed with me as Officer Bates went through the containers I’d brought in. He wasn’t close enough to make anyone passing by question it, but it was close enough that my hand hanging at my side could feel the heat coming from his hand and forearm, that was visible from the blue henley that was pushed up to his elbows in a way that I found incredibly attractive. My fingers itched to seek out his, but I fought it. Keeping them obediently beside me. Once Officer Bates was done and gave me the all clear to take the food up, Walter walked me to the elevator and pressed the button to call it down. Then he held the door back, letting me in first before following me. After the door slid closed, he fell back half a step, putting him right beside me. His hand bumped mine, his fingers snaking through, gently holding mine. I smiled, knowing I wasn’t the only one itching for contact.
I turned without a thought and placed a kiss on his shoulder. Then I paused, a moment of panic rising in me that maybe we weren’t at that level yet. But before I could move or feel too worried, he placed a kiss on the top of my head.
“I keep thinking about Saturday,” he whispered.
“Me, too,” I said. I looked up at him. “It was...pretty amazing.”
He smiled. I could see his sharp canine teeth. They were oddly charming. “Yes, it was.” He laced his fingers with mine more securely, properly holding it. “I know I mentioned calling you tonight, but I hoped that we might have dinner again instead. If you’re not busy?”
“I’m exceptionally not busy tonight.”
“Good.” He pressed a kiss to my forehead before turning his head back to face the elevator door. “I won’t be able to finish all my paperwork today, there’s too much and it keeps multiplying like rabbits, so since I have to do it tomorrow anyway, I’m going to knock off here around five. Could I pick you up after that? Around five-thirty, perhaps?”
I nodded, smiling. “That sounds great.”
The elevator dinged as we reached the homicide unit floor. He gave my hand a couple of gentle squeezes before letting it go as the door slid open. He stepped out, then held the door for me like he had before, letting me pull my cart out. He walked with me almost all the way to the break room before a shorter man with glasses stopped him.
“Lieutenant Marshall, can I speak with you in your office for a moment?” he asked.
“Of course.” Walter touched my shoulder. “Excuse me,” he said to me quietly before leaving for his office.
I continued on and was met by most of the detectives waiting for me. Like usual, they didn’t talk to me much, just thanking me for the food before taking their box and going. I took my time, hoping that by the time that I was done, the man speaking with Walter would be gone before I brought him his lunch. When I was done, I packed up my cart before taking Marshall’s boxed lunch and walked down the hall, finding the door to his office open. I could hear him talking still and wasn’t sure what to do. I’d made a deal with him a few weeks back to always bring his lunch to his office whenever I delivered - the first time was because a uniformed officer looked like he was going to swipe it, after that, it was to thank him for rescuing me from a pushy creep while I was with my ‘friends’. We’d never discussed if I should interrupt while he was working. I chewed my lip, debating what to do for several seconds before deciding to just take a chance and knock on the door frame. The worst case scenario was that I looked like a very dedicated delivery woman making sure that all of my orders reached their proper owners.
“Yep. Come in,” Walter called out in response to my knocking.
I entered his office only far enough to be seen and not a step further. I didn’t know if Marshall wanted people to know about us, so I was prepared to make a quick exit if I needed to. “I have a delivery for Detective Marshall,” I said.
He looked at me and smiled, then waved me in further. “Harper, this is Fiona Sparks. Fiona, this is Commissioner Harper.”
“Hi. It’s nice to meet you, sir,” I said.
“You, too.” He looked at me over the top of his glasses. “You don’t happen to be related to Rodger Sparks, by any chance?”
I felt speechless for a moment. I hadn’t heard anyone other than Mom say Dad’s name in months. Finally, I forced myself to nod. “Yes. He was my dad. How - how did you know?”
“We went to college together. You’re the spitting image of him,” he said. “I was sorry to hear about him passing away. I lost my wife around two years ago as well. A brain aneurysm.” He shook his head. “It doesn’t get any easier.”
“No, it doesn’t,” I agreed.
He looked at me for a moment longer, then back to Marshall, who was standing patiently with his hands clasped behind his back. He looked back at me briefly before taking the folder he was holding and tapped it against Marshall’s shoulder. “You know what? This can wait until tomorrow,” he said. “I’ll bring it by in the morning.” He left Walter and stopped beside me before leaving the office. “I’m very sorry about your father. Rodger was a horrible sport when he lost at cards, but other than that, he was a great guy. And probably the smartest man I ever met.”
I smiled slightly. “He was a horrible sport at cards.”
He smiled back. “The worst.” He gave me a wink. “It was a pleasure seeing you.”
“You, too.”
When he left, he closed the door behind him. I looked at Marshall as he walked towards me. “Did I interrupt something important?” I asked.
“No. He was just asking about a cold case.”
“I wasn’t sure if you wanted me to come in since he was here. Next time, if you’re talking to someone, would you rather I left your lunch in the break room?”
He stopped in front of me. He was so close. He smelled like coffee and Old Spice. I swallowed thickly, trying to meet his gaze as he looked down at me. He shook his head, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. “No. I’d still like you to bring it to me, please. If that’s alright?”
“Yeah, of course. I just don’t want to get in the way of your job.”
“You won’t,” he said. “But I’ve let my job get in the way of other things for too long, so maybe it’s time someone got in the way of it for a bit.”
“You have an important job, though. If you were a boat salesman, I might feel a little differently about disrupting your work.”
His smile grew as he tilted his head at me. “A boat salesman?”
“I mean a job where it wouldn’t really matter all that much if you were distracted every once in a while. If someone doesn’t sell a boat, it’s not that big of a deal. But if you don’t solve a murder case...that has very real repercussions. I wouldn’t want to be a reason for something slipping by in a case.”
He put his hand on my cheek, directing my eyes back to his. “That won’t happen,” he said. “I take my job seriously. That’s never been a problem for me. My problem has always been figuring out how to balance it with the rest of my life, which I never could, and I neglected a lot of people because of it. Especially Faye.” He shook his head. “I’m still not good at it. But I had a case back in the winter that...put Faye’s safety in jeopardy, among other things, and it made me realize that I need to put more of an effort in my life outside of this job. Despite how hard that is for me.” He stroked my cheek with his thumb. “You motivate me to slow down a bit. And that’s a good thing.”
I took my free hand and placed it over his, then turned my face slightly and placed a kiss on the inside of his wrist. “I would be happy to slow down with you,” I whispered.
Marshall had a smile that somehow showed in his eyes more than his mouth, and that’s how he was looking at me right then. “I’d like that.”
A knock on the door startled me. I took a step back, his hand falling from my cheek. He then ran it over his face, almost like he was trying to scrub the irritation of being interrupted off it. Then he folded his arms across his chest before calling out for whoever it was to come in.
The door opened and a man stepped up to the doorway. He was wearing plain clothes like Walter, so I assumed he was a detective, too. He all but ignored me as he and Walter spoke. Half of what they said was in a jargon I didn’t understand, so I just stood there, head down, waiting. After a few minutes, the guy left, only halfway closing the door as he did. When Marshall finally turned back to me, I could see that he was frustrated. I knew he wouldn’t admit it, but me being at his work right then was only going to cause more irritation with every interruption we had.
“As much as I hate it, I should probably get back to the shop. We have a big order going out tomorrow, so there’s quite a lot to do today to prepare for it,” I said. “Plus, I have a date with a very handsome detective tonight that I want to get ready for.”
The frustration on his face seemed to melt away as he looked at me with a smirk. “Is it anyone I know?”
“Possibly. He does work in your unit.”
“Is that so?” he asked. I nodded. “Well, if I see him around, I might have to have a talk with him.”
“And what would you say?”
“I’d tell him that he better be good to you because you deserve to be treated well.”
My stomach fluttered. “You can rest assured that he treats me very well. Better than any man ever has.”
“All those other men were idiots.”
I smiled. “Maybe so.”
He shook his head. “Definitely so.” He reached out and took his lunch from my hand, then turned and placed it on a filing cabinet behind him. “Will you let me help you to your car now?”
I nodded. “Yes, please.”
He put on his coat and followed me to the break room. He pulled my dolly for me, moving it like it was as light as a child’s toy. Even when we made it to the parking lot, he didn’t seem to have any issue with the wheels fighting against him. Then he picked it up and placed it in my trunk with ease, despite how I very often fought to get it back in. I thought about telling him that he was welcome to help me anytime he wanted, but I was afraid it wouldn’t come across as a joke and he would feel obligated to actually help.
“Thank you. You made my morning a lot easier,” I said after I closed the trunk. I looked at him. “I guess I’ll see you around five-thirty?”
He nodded. “I’ll call you when I leave here, but yeah, I should be there by then,” he said. “And I promise it’ll only be the two of us and no cheap pizza.”
“To be honest, I quite liked the pizza. It didn’t taste cheap. And I really, truly didn’t mind Faye joining us, but it'll be nice to have dinner with just you tonight,” I said. “But that reminds me - I put a copy of our cookie recipe for Faye in your lunch box.”
He smiled. “Thank you. She’ll be very excited about that.”
“You’re welcome. And let her know if she has any issues with it, she can call or text me.”
The crease between his eyebrows appeared as he looked at me thoughtfully. “Are you sure?”
“Yeah. I’ve made them enough times over the last year and a half to make every mistake you can with them. If she has a problem, I can probably diagnose it over the phone.”
“You don’t mind her having your number?”
I felt my facial expressions mirroring his, but from confusion. “Of course I don’t mind. As long as you’re okay with it,” I said. “Unless you think your ex-wife would mind? I don’t want to step on her toes or anything.”
He shook his head. “I don’t think Angie would mind for that purpose, and I don’t have a problem with it. But I don’t want you to feel obligated.”
“I don’t but I’ll leave it up to you. If you’d feel more comfortable being the middleman you can always call me for her.” I gave him a big smile. “And I can help you practice the whole talking thing. Then it’s a two birds with one stone kind of deal.”
He smiled back, nodding his head. “And if she doesn’t need help?”
“You can still call.” I shrugged. “As far as I’m concerned, you don’t have to have a reason for calling. If I’m not at work, I’m usually pretty free. I may be cooking, or watching ‘The Golden Girls’ with Mom, but that’s about it,” I said. “I’m afraid you’re courting quite a socially boring person.”
He laughed. “I’m not sure if you’ve caught on, but I’m not exactly a sociable person, either,” he said. “So perhaps we make a good fit for each other.”
“Perhaps so,” I agreed. “We can be selectively social together.”
“Sounds good to me.”
I let out a sigh and watched my breath turn to steam in front of me. “I better let you get back to your paperwork and I need to go help Darcy at the store. We have over fifty loaves of bread to bake before the end of the day, so depending on when I get home, you may have to deal with your date smelling like freshly baked bread.”
He squinted slightly. “I’m not really opposed to that,” he joked with a smile that showed off the sharp ends of his canine teeth.
I laughed. “Good to know.”
He gave me a short hug, kissing my cheek as he pulled back. “I’ll see you this evening.”
“I’m looking forward to it.

Based on this request:  can i request for Cas please? but it’s an AU.. so he’s a cop and she’s a barista. they always talk when he gets coffee and one day he realises a sketchy guy watching her so he starts scheduling his shifts to make sure he can watch her get home safe (without her knowing). One day he doesn’t see her and is worrying where she went, she’s not at work the next day and he’s really concerned that somethings happened..a few days later he sees her again and is kinda asking her where she went…maybe he can ask her out or maybe she can be like yeah i knew you were following me or any cute ending i’ll leave it up to you. thank you! have a lovely day!
Here you are, lovelies! I do not own Castiel. He belongs to the writers/creators of SPN!
Warnings: Police Officer/Coffee Shop AU. angst, mentions of creepers, possible stalking?? Fluff
Pairings: Officer!Castiel x fem!barista reader(can be read as gender neutral since no pronouns are used)
Tumblr media
When Castiel had first stepped foot in the little coffee shop, he hadn't thought anything of it. He was just getting his morning coffee before going into work. The coffee from the shop was better than anything the precinct had and he liked supporting small businesses.  But then, he met you. You were his barista that morning and had greeted him with such a dazzling smile, he couldn't help but smile in return.
Every day after that, Castiel returned to the coffee shop. There was something about you that intrigued him. It wasn't just that you were beautiful. You were, of course, but there was something that came from the inside that Castiel really wanted to know better. So, whenever he came in for his coffee, he would try to strike up a conversation with you if you were there. The two of you became quite close, or at least he hoped he wasn't alone in thinking that. Then came the event that would change everything.
Castiel grabbed his coffee and was about to leave when he noticed something that didn't sit right with him. There was a man sitting at one of the tables. He'd been there when Castiel arrived as well. He had a laptop in front of him and a cup next to him. The cup was one the baristas used for hot drinks, but there was no longer steam coming from it meaning he'd either finished it a while ago or it had gone cold. And not once since he'd stepped foot in there had Castiel heard the sound of the mouse pad or keyboard on the laptop. Odd, but not really his business. What was his business was that the man had hardly taken his eyes off you the entire time Castiel had been waiting for his coffee.
Castiel spared a glance at you. You gave him a smile, but it looked forced. Uncomfortable. Your eyes darted to the man before coming back to him. Castiel leaned in a little so he could whisper, "Is he bothering you?" You thought for a minute before slowly shaking your head. "N-Not really. It's just that he's been here every single day for the past two weeks. He always stays for hours and I can feel him staring. He came yesterday when I wasn't working and apparently stormed out when he saw another barista."
"I am certain he is simply an intense person. I will talk to him before I leave." You gave a nod before telling him you needed to get back to work. Castiel stopped at the man's table and had a short discussion about how his actions made some of the baristas uncomfortable and he suggested to the man that, if he was interested in one of the baristas to let them know instead of simply staring. The man had given him a tense smile and agreed so Castiel left. He wasn't out to arrest anyone that didn't deserve it, no matter how badly he was creeped out.
However, all the way to the precinct and throughout the day, Castiel couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. His instincts were almost never wrong. It was one of his gifts. He felt the need to protect the baristas in the coffee shop. To protect you. Fortunately for him, Castiel was close with the officer who worked that particular beat. He could technically ask her and the chief to change up the schedule a bit so he could work a different beat.
That was how Castiel found himself patrolling the area around the coffee shop, mostly trying to be on the same schedule as you so he could watch out for you. He was discreet and didn't bother anyone if it wasn't necessary, but he did make certain to drive by the coffee shop several times a day. Sure enough, that guy was back every single day. He sat there for hours, his eyes glued mostly to you. Still, he wasn't doing anything illegal and Castiel couldn't barge in there and demand he leave or arrest him. He had no cause for that. Just a gut feeling.
Then came the first day when Castiel drove by and you weren't there. Coincidentally, neither was the man. Castiel didn't think anything of it. You typically had at least one day off a week. But that one day turned to two. And then three. And then four. Five. Castiel started worrying around day three. Had something happened to you? He could have easily found out where you lived of course, to check up on you, but he wouldn't invade your privacy with a misuse of resources like that. So he waited.
Six days after he'd last saw you, Castiel let out a deep sigh of relief when he walked into the coffee shop at the beginning of his shift. You were back and looking fine. A little worn down, but otherwise okay. You greeted Castiel with your usually smile. "Good morning, Officer Novak! Usual?" Castiel nodded.
"I…missed you," Castiel admitted softly when you were within ear shot again. Your brows crinkled together. "What do you mean?" Castiel explained that he'd come in for his coffee and you weren't there. "I was sick, but you don't have to lie to me. I've seen you patrolling recently. I recognized the different car when you switched shifts with Officer Hanscum. I know you've been keeping an eye on me and the other baristas because of that guy."
Castiel blushed a deep red. You laughed lightly. "I apologize if it made you uncomfortable. There was something that didn't sit well with me about his actions." You nodded and told him you understood. "But really, you didn't make me uncomfortable. You never crossed any lines and you weren't actually following me. I appreciate you looking out. It's more than most officers do."
Castiel wasn't sure what to say as you handed him his coffee before telling your manager that you were taking your break. "I do have a question," you stated as soon as you had stepped foot outside. Castiel nodded his head, prompting you to ask the question on your mind. "Why me? I mean, you're a sweet guy, but you seemed really worried that I wasn't here. I can tell you're, at the very least, attracted to me. So, why me?"
Castiel let his cerulean eyes meet your (e/c) ones. "Because I have never met a more beautiful creation, inside and out, than you. You always have a smile for me, even when you're having an off day. You don't let the stress of your day affect the way you treat others. You never looked down on other people and I always hear you encouraging everyone who comes in here. You are a wondrous human being with a gentle heart and kind soul that lights up my day whenever I see."
Castiel blushed again as he waited for you to say something. His best friend always told him he talked too much. Shared too much. Maybe he was very candid with his feelings, but Castiel believed he owed it to you. "That is probably the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me. Thank you," you whispered.
Just as he was about to reply, Castiel's radio crackled to life. "I have to get back to work. I-"
"Would you go on a date with me?" you asked suddenly, interrupting Castiel. You clamped your mouth shut, but muttered a quick apology. You glanced down at your shoes, but Castiel wasn't having it. He lifted your chin so he could look at you again. "I would love to. We'll talk more about this when we both have time. In the meantime, I'll see you tomorrow." You beamed and gave a nod. Castiel dropped his hand and turned to go back to work, leaving you staring after him as he walked away.
(a/n: I hope you like it!)

For Once In My Life
Tumblr media
Hailey is keeping one life changing secret from Jay.
It's just fluffy upstead.
Hailey was so angry with herself...with the world. She couldn’t seem to catch a break, things were finally going good and she’d called it, she said to Jay only two weeks ago that things were too good. He’d laughed it off, telling her that thing just got better with time, refusing to believe a bomb was waiting for them but right now as Hailey stared down at the stupid plastic stick in the sink she knows she was right and he was wrong as usual.
“Hailey, are you ready to go?” She heard Jay knock against the bathroom door as he passed by, heading towards the stairs. She sighed clutching the plastic, making sure she was definitely reading it right. These things could be false right? “Hailey?” Jay's voice pulls her from thoughts again.
“I’m coming giving me one sec,” she yells back hoping he couldn’t hear the slight tremble in her voice as she opened the cabinet in front of her shoving the test behind a box of tampons as she quickly splashed some cold water on her face. Come on Upton get it together.
“You good?” Jay mumbled as she reached the bottom of the stairs where he was putting his boots on.
“Yeah...fine, let’s go before we’re late.” Hailey forces a smile on her face, not giving Jay a chance to respond as she heads for the door, she knew the longer she was around Jay the quicker he would pick up on her obvious angst.
They drove to work in silence which wasn’t uncommon for them, she was lucky to be with someone who she felt completely comfortable around, she could enjoy the quiet moments just as much as their usual banter.
Hailey jumped slightly when she felt his warm hand wrap around hers on the console, intertwining the fingers.  He flashed her his warm signature grin before turning back to the road, making the butterflies stir in her stomach. He had no idea the noise going on her mind, the thoughts racing around in her head.
It wasn’t the right time. She wasn’t ready. she wasn’t ready in her career to take the time out she had imagined she would when she finally started a family. She hadn’t even really spent the time considering if that’s what she wanted if that’s what Jay wanted. They’d been living together for three months, she thinks in all the time she’d known him, Jay, he’d maybe mused the idea of a family like once or twice. It wasn’t the right time but there was this small part of they kept reminding her there was never a right time and maybe her Jay hadn't been together that long and maybe they'd never properly discussed kids but she sure as hell knew she'd never felt love like this before so how could a baby made from the love possibly be an inconvenience.
“You good?... You were a little quiet this morning. Are you still feeling a little sick?” He mumbles as they pull up at a stoplight, his thumb brushing across the back of her hand. It takes everything in Hailey not to just blurt it out right there, knowing everything is better with Jay when they just talk through it. That’s what worked between them, talking even when it was hard, even when they could think of nothing worse. They were always better when they faced things together.
That’s why the words were at the tip of her tongue when his phone rang out, Ruzek's name lighting up Jay's phone as they untangled their hands, Hailey grabbing it for him. They have a case and thank the god she doesn't believe in for the distraction.
She stared down at the info Kim had sent through as Jay does a sharp turn towards the crime scene, the team were already on the scene waiting for them but Hailey's mind was whirling with Kim’s pregnancy a couple of years ago, she’d have to stop working pretty much immediately, even if Voight didn’t immediately bench her Jay would never let her out of his sight and definitely nowhere near a crime scene.
She should tell him, she should just say it. She should just rip off the band-aid before they're wrapped up in a case, running headfirst into danger.
Luckily for Hailey the crime scene is already under control when they get there, though she’d definitely turned heads when she’s stopped to retch on the side of the street, she’d heard sniggers from the uniforms clearly assuming she couldn’t stomach the scene.
“You wanna tell me what’s going on?” Jay grumbles rubbing her back softly, they tried to keep any affection towards each other to a minimum while working, they wanted to prove nothing could get in the way of their work but clearly watching your other half attempt to throw up on the side of the street trumped any professional boundary.
Hailey shrugs, standing up and straightening out her shirt. “What do you mean?”
“Oh, Hailey...do you honestly think I can’t see right through you.”
“I...er.”
Jay rolls his eyes, glancing around quickly to see who was watching as drops his hands to her waist. “It’s fine if you don’t wanna talk about it yet.”
“I...can we do this at home?” Hailey shrinks away from him, brushing his hands off as she takes a few steps back.
“Sure…” Jay nods, she could tell from the look on his face he wasn’t quite ready to give it up but as he hears Kim call out for their attention he has no choice but to let it go for now.
Hailey spends the rest of the morning at her desk trying to focus on the case at hand but every so often she’d find herself drifting off, little images of the baby half her half Jay filling her mind. She had to be sure. If she was gonna tell Jay. If they were gonna make any sort of decision. She had to be sure before she set off a bomb.
Grabbing her jacket from the back of her chair she heads towards Voight's office ignoring the way Jay's eyebrows knit together as he watches her curiously.
“Come in…”
Voight waves her in as he looks up from the paperwork scattered around his desk. He frowns as he watches her expectantly waiting for her to speak.
“I need the afternoon…” Hailey mutters quietly as she meets Voight's eye, hoping he wouldn’t press her on the subject. “I wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t important.”
He raises his eyebrows at her contemplating her request for a moment as he fiddles his pen between his fingers. “Sure go do what you gotta do…”
Hailey nods, muttering her thanks as she begins to back out of the room. “Hailey.” Just as her hand reaches the doorknob he starts to talk again. “Everything good?”
Hailey glances through the glass looking out at Jay who seemed to be squinting at the screen as Kevin leaned over his desk both deep in discussion. He was a good man...he made mistakes. I mean they both did but he was good, he was loyal and he was funny and he would make the most amazing dad...if that’s what he wanted, all she knew is the longer she thought about it the more she wanted it.
“Yeah...yeah, I think it’s all gonna be good.”
Confirming it had been harder than expected, cringing as Jay's smiling face lit up her phone once again, he’d called pretty consistently since she’d sneaked away earlier today. She should’ve gone to Lakeshore...why had she come to Med knowing Will was slinking around the halls? At any moment he could appear and patient confidentiality be damned Jay would be here in a heartbeat.
“Have you got it? Do you have the results?” Hailey yelped the second Natalie came back into sight. Squirming uncomfortably on the hospital bed she’d been forced to sit in for the blood draw.
Nat laughs, shaking her head as she slips into the room, pulling the curtain back as quickly as possible. “Jesus Hailey...you know most people don’t get their labs rushed through as fast as you do.”
“Nat…” Hailey deadpans.
“Congratulations Hailey...looks like there’s a baby Halstead on the way.”
“Oh god…” Hailey cries dropping her face into her hands, a small part of her thought maybe she'd been wrong, but now she really was pregnant, a tiny part of her and Jay was growing inside her and suddenly her whole world had changed.
“Were you guys trying?”
“No...no we were doing the opposite of trying. Well, not the opposite actually...more like a lot of trying…”
“Hailey calm down” Natalie comes to stand in front of her, wrapping her arms around Hailey who wasn’t usually one for hugs but right now that seemed to have gone out the window. “I’ve never seen you this worked up, you’re usually so calm and collected.”
“I don’t know what’s wrong with me.” Hailey cried, mumbling into Nat's shoulder.
“The hormones no doubt, I remember them well, and from the looks of it, you are already about nine weeks along. I'm surprised it took you so long to figure it out, detective.” Natalie smirks as she pulls back, pulling up the results on the tablet for Hailey to look at, she didn’t really understand any of it but she appreciated it nonetheless.
“Sometimes I miss my periods...the stress at work...I just figured.” Hailey shrugs, her heart thumping hard in her chest as it all suddenly felt so much more real than this morning. “Oh god, I’ve got to tell Jay.”
“Oh that you do, I’ll pray for the world another Halstead is on its way.”
-
“Jay…” Hailey calls out as she shrugs her jacket off, kicking her boots to the side as she enters their home.
“Hey, where have you been?” She hears him before she sees him, standing at the stove, stirring a pot of pasta and she had to resist the urge to snap a photo because even though they’d been together a while now it still amazed her anytime she saw Jay Halstead doing anything remotely domestic.
“I text to say I had something to do,” Hailey mutters wrapping her arms around him from behind, leaning her head against his back.
“Something is pretty vague babe.” She feels him wrap one arm around hers, lifting her hand slowly to press a kiss against it, she knows she’s about to change his world but he has no idea how every small thing he does settles her nerves and makes her feel safe and loved and protected. “Hailey it’s me whatever is bothering you-”
“-I’m pregnant.” She blurts out, her eyes squeezing shut as she cuts him off, the words were out of her mouth before she had a chance to know what she was doing.
“What?” Jay exclaimed, unwrapping her arms from him as he turned around, pushing her back lightly, his eyes searching hers.
“I’m sorry...I’m so sorry” Hailey begins to cry, huge tears welling in her eyes as she looks at his face. “I had this whole speech planned out, I was gonna tell you how in love with you I am and how great you are at taking care of the people you love and what an amazing dad you’d be and I’ve ruined it.” She groans as the tears begin to flow down her face.
“Hey hey hey, Hailey come here...don’t cry, babe.” Jay shushed her gently wrapping his arms back around her, pulling her in so his chin was resting against the top of her head.
He slowly guides them over to the sofa as Hailey tries to speak but it all sounds like a blur of apologies and hiccups to Jay. “You haven’t ruined anything.” He mumbles, rubbing her back softly as he pulls her down onto his lap, brushing the mess of blonde hair out of her face, wiping the tears from her cheeks. “You’re pregnant?” He whispers eyes wide as she looks up at him, taking deep shaky breaths as she tries to calm herself. This was so un Hailey like, she wasn’t a huge crier at all.
“I’m pregnant.” She nods, her fingers dancing dangerously close to her abdomen as she speaks.
Jay stared at her for a moment, his eyes flicking between her face and stomach in disbelief as he tried to process the news. “We’re having a baby.”
“Yeah...is that okay?”
Hailey bites her lip, watching as Jays breaks into a huge grin that lights up his whole face, instantly squashing all her fears with one smile. “Hailey, that's more than okay. We’re gonna have a baby...there’s a baby in there right now.” He mutters, his own eyes welling with tears, as he places his large hand over her still flat stomach.
“But our job and we’ve only just moved and…”
“Hey, none of that matters as long as you’re happy...are you happy?” Jay asks, shifting back on the sofa, pulling her impossibly closer, one hand coming up to cup her face.
Hailey nods biting her lip gently, her eyes sparkling with happiness that makes Jay's heart soar. “It’s all I’ve been thinking about all day and I think I am...I really am happy.”
“Even to be on desk duty?”
“Are you kidding me?” Hailey exclaims wrapping her arms around his neck, playing with the hair at the nape of his neck as he begins to press light kisses along her collar bone. “Platt is like my icon...she's terrifying but totally my icon...maybe they’ll let me shadow her.”
She squirms in his lap, as he reaches her pulse point sucking lightly, knowing how much she enjoys it when he does. His grip tightening on her hips. This is why they’d managed to make a baby without even trying because she was putty in his hands, she had no willpower when his lips were on her.
“So that’s what had that lost look on your face all day...and you’re disappearing act earlier?”
“I had Nat confirm it at Med.” She nods, pushing him away lightly before they get so carried away she forgets what’s she’s trying to say. Slowly she pulls out the black and white photo Nat had given her. After they’d got her blood results back Nat had insisted they have an ultrasound to really see the baby.
“Wow…” Jay's mouth drops as Hailey laughs softly rubbing her thumb across his lip as she helps him shut it, leaning in so they can both examine the photo, a tiny black and white blob already so loved.  “Look at that.”
“Definitely a Halstead look at the size of that head.”
“Hey…” Jay shakes his head, rolling his eyes at the way Hailey smirks. “My head isn’t that big.” He pouts.
“Your head is perfect… I love you, Jay.” She whispers, taking his face in her hands as she pulls him in, her lips finally finding their home on his.
“I love you too...and I love you, little man.” Jay grins pulling away as he places his hand back over her stomach.
“Who said it was a boy?” Hailey mutters, placing her hand on top of his, all the worries of her day finally fading away, she had everything she needed right here, her tiny little family.
“I sure hope he is...man am I in trouble if it’s a little girl...hmm if we have another tiny Hailey in the house I don’t stand a chance.”

Sick Day
I wanted to write something for my OC and the love of her life. Also included Valentina (Vali) who belongs to @kittkattkate77! She is Viktoria’s best friend!
Hope you enjoy!
Saul would be lying if he said he wasn’t worried about Viktoria. Truth is, he was. She hasn’t answered any of his texts or calls in three days and he was afraid she was dead in an alley somewhere in Night City. Without a second thought, he got into his truck and drove into the city, using his phone as a GPS. She had given him her address weeks before, just in case something happened. He had found her apartment building with ease, it was just the case of finding the right floor and right door.
Saul had rode the elevator up to the third floor, where Vik said her apartment was. She had mentioned her best friend, Vali, living with her and usually she was home. Vik did warn Saul that Vali wasn’t a fan of strangers and most likely wouldn’t answer the door. Once he arrived at the door that was Vik’s apartment. He knocked on the door. He waited for a response and when he heard nothing, he knocked again. He heard nothing and was about to call Vik, the door opened.
“Saul? What are you doing here?” Viktoria asked as she raised a brow. In her arms she held Nibbles who was staring curiously at the male.
“I got worried. I haven’t heard from you in days.” He simply said. Vik opened her mouth to speak but she began to cough. She turned from Saul, taking a moment to catch her breath as Nibbles cuddled into her arms more.
“I broke my phone after a gig at a bar. Guy bumped into me and it fell out of my hands. Got a cold and haven’t left the apartment.”” Vik explained as she allowed Saul into the apartment. It wasn’t large but it was just enough for Vik and Vali. Viktoria had walked past Vali’s room and into hers with Saul close behind her.
“You should have called me somehow! You could have been dead in an alley! Bleeding out somewhere where no one could find you! You could-”
“Were you worried about me, Saul? Is that why you came all the way out here?” Vik said as she sat on her bed and placed Nibbles beside her. Saul stood in the doorway, arms crossed over his chest as a light pink blush moved over his cheeks.
“N-no. I came because.. Because, uh…” Vik giggled softly as she listened to the nomad leader stutter and stumble over his words. Viktoria gently patted the spot beside her on the bed. Saul moved off the doorframe and sat next to her and glanced over at Nibbles.
“This is my baby boy, Nibbles. I found him in a dumpster in our old apartment building.” Vik smiled as she gently began to pet the cat. He purred under her touch as Saul chuckled softly.
“I haven’t seen a cat since I was a boy. I thought they went extinct years ago.” Saul reached over to pet Nibbles but the cat hissed at the nomad and jumped off the bed and left the room.
“He takes some time to adjust to people. He hated Vali for the longest time and she would always try to shower him with love.” Viktoria giggled softly as she moved to lay on the bed. Saul moved, going to lay in front of her and pushed a few stray hairs from her eyes. He had never seen her hair up in a bun or seen her without her eyeliner. Even being sick, she was still the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.
“Do you need anything? I can go see if I can find soup or cook you something.” Vik groaned as she closed her eyes and moved to cuddle closer to Saul.
“Vali should be back soon. She went to the store to get me some medicine and some food. Just stay and cuddle? You can take your jacket off. Relax some.” Vik opened her eyes, her hands moving to unclasp all the buckles. He pushed his jacket off, it falling to the floor. Viktoria moved her hands down his chest and began to undo the buckles on the multiple belts around his stomach and pushed them onto the floor, too.
“I should be getting back to camp before someone notices I’m gone.” Saul said as he went to move out of the bed but Vik grabbed his hand tightly in hers and held him close against her and into the bed.
“Please, Saul, Just stay for a bit longer, okay?” Vik yawned as she closed her eyes once against and curled close against him. Saul chuckled, an arm wrapping tightly around her and holding her. Saul closed his eyes and laid there, a smile crossing his lips.
“Vik? Vik! I got some meds! And Mama Welles made soup!” Vali called through the small apartment. She was greeted at the door by Nibbles but was confused why she didn’t hear Vik coughing up a lung but just assumed she was sleeping.
Upon arriving at Vik’s room, Vali nearly screamed. She saw a man in her best friend's bed but not her best friend. Then she saw the blonde hair of her best friend and calmed down. Both Vik and the male were fast asleep in the bed. Valentina realized that this must have been Saul, the man Vik began dating. She hasn’t met Saul officially yet, only seen pictures from Vik or heard about him. When she noticed that both Saul and Viktoria were asleep, she grabbed the blanket that was at the foot of the bed and covered the two.
“I hope you know I’m not feeding him, too. He can find his own food.” Vali smirked as she left the room, closing the door behind her. She went to put the medicine away in the bathroom before pouring some soup into a bowl for her and putting the rest in the fridge. Vali moved to the couch, sitting to watch some TV with Nibbles curled up beside her. The cat sat there, purring while Vali watched whatever she found entertaining. She couldn’t wait to tease Vik in the morning about her boyfriend coming over.

expanding the drunkenness scale
frat jj x reader
Tumblr media
words: 2690
warnings: the norms (alcohol, cursing)
synopsis: you finally get to see past six drink jj
a/n: requested by an anon; once again i must warn to drink responsibly!!! also i just passed 100 followers, thank you all so much for the support, i only started this up a few weeks ago, so this is crazy to me!
So, you’ve seen the ramifications of six drink JJ, barely standing, barely speaking coherently. Nothing could’ve prepared you for more than six drink JJ. It was almost like he caught a second wind, and it kind of felt like chasing a child around, he was so unpredictable.
One afternoon, after you got off of work, you saw you had about 15 texts from JJ about attending a baseball game. It had already started, but you confirmed with him that he was still there and started to drive toward the field.
You showed your student ID to get in and then walked to the bottom of the reserved student section to look for JJ and whatever friends he was there with. Before you could find him, you heard a loud, “Baby!” and looked up to see him all the way across the section, standing and waving at you. People looked between the two of you, amused, and you blushed at the sudden attention, quickly making your way to him.
“You’re drunk already?” you asked incredulously as he wrapped you up in a hug, hand reaching down to your ass.
“We pre-gamed!” he told you excitedly as you tried to get him to sit down.
He leaned into you, arm wrapped loosely around your shoulder and you sighed, “Yes, I see that. Do you even know the score, bud?”
JJ shrugged, eyes not leaving your face, “It’s tied.”
You looked around him at the scoreboard to see your school winning 5-2. Snorting out a laugh, you patted his shoulder, “Not quite, but good try.”
JJ waved your words off before brightening up, “Oh hey, we’re having a party tonight, you should come.”
“I know you are, you told me last week.”
“Oh,” he looked confused as he took a swig of a beer you didn’t even realize he had before continuing, “well are you coming?”
“Wouldn’t miss it, J.”
“Good, I need my forever date with me,” he tapped your nose, almost missing and nailing you eye instead.
From behind you, one of the guys with JJ that you didn’t recognized made a whipping noise at JJ’s response and JJ flipped him off, not looking away from you.
“You’re being cheesy today,” you told him, slight blush on your cheeks.
“Only for you.”
He finished his beer, and you sighed internally as he started to slump into you, “Did you drive?”
JJ lifted his head from your neck and shook his head, mumbling something incoherently.
“What?”
“Bryce drove,” he told you, slurring a little.
“Right, well I drove, you wanna leave and go take a nap?”
He perked up at the word nap and nodded enthusiastically. JJ’s knees buckled when he stood and you tucked yourself under his arm to keep him upright.
“Whoops,” he slurred out, giggling while you struggled to get him to your car.
“Fucking frat boys,” you mumbled under your breath as he tripped again, almost dragging both of you to the ground. After his third stumble in two minutes, you snapped, “Pick your feet up.”
“I’m frat man, baby, not boy.”
“Frat child,” you corrected as you helped him into the passenger seat of your car. You queued up a bunch of songs he likes as you drove to the frat house because if he fell asleep in the car you definitely wouldn’t be able to get him inside. It worked, and you had to repeat the half carry, half drag process all the way to his room to deposit him on his bed.
You started to leave his room and he whined, “Where are you going?”
“I have to go get dressed and pick us up some alcohol before the party in like four hours.”
“Nooo, sleep with me, you have clothes here.”
“I have workout clothes here,” you corrected.
“They look hot,” he shrugged, holding his hands out as if to pull you back.
A nap did sound really enticing. You were tired from your early morning shift, so you gave in, “Fine, but you can’t chirp me for my outfit later.”
JJ held his pinky out to you, “Promise.”
You linked pinkies and laid down next to him. He held his arm out and you put your head on his bicep. JJ curled his arm around your shoulders and both of you fell asleep quickly.
Not setting an alarm was a mistake because you were woken up by music signaling that the party had started already. You checked your phone to see a text from JJ that he had gone with Pope to buy you guys some alcohol and wanted to let you sleep since you seemed so tired.
You sighed and walked over to his closet to find something decent to wear. There was at least one pair of blue jean shorts which made you feel a bit better, and you brushed your teeth before walking downstairs to find your boyfriend and join the party.
JJ was in the kitchen mixing himself a drink when you found him, and he jumped when you wrapped your arms around his waist from behind. He quickly realized it was you and smiled, handing you the cup, “For you, milady.”
“Is it actually for me?”
“It is now.”
You took a sip, not knowing what to expect, and almost gagged when you tasted mostly vodka. He laughed at your betrayed face and held out the pitcher of lemonade to add some to your cup.
“Fuck, JJ, how drunk are you to already be drinking shit this strong?”
He furrowed his eyebrows while trying to come up with an answer, and shrugged, holding up three fingers, “I’ve had two drinks.”
You reached over to push one of his fingers back down, “There you go, two.”
“You’re so smart, babe,” he told you before yelling out, “I’m dating a genius!”
“Jesus, J,” you hissed, blushing as people in the kitchen stared at the two of you.
“The people need to know how elite you are.”
“They most definitely do not.”
JJ grinned mischievously before yelling out, “This girl is the greatest person in the world and I love her and no one can-“
You slapped a hand over his mouth, abruptly cutting him off and he licked your palm. With a grimace, you pinched his arm with your other hand, “That’s gross, J. Can I trust you to stop, now?”
He gently pushed your hand away before answering, “Probably not.”
And with that, JJ turned away to fix himself a drink. He grabbed your hand and pulled you into the living room where the beer pong tables were set up. There was an open end at the pairs table, so you and JJ took it to play against some two of the other guys who lived in the house.
“Hold my jacket, sweetheart, I don’t know how big this is gonna get,” he told you, stripping off his hoodie.
“I regret making you watch Footloose with me. I know that’s what you were going for there, but I hated it,” you told him seriously, and he just laughed loudly in response.
To say you were carrying the team was an understatement. JJ thought it would be fun to try out an arsenal of trick shots he’d been apparently hiding. The best one was when he attempted a softball pitch and pegged one of the other guys in the forehead. It landed in the cup and JJ cheered, throwing his arms around you in his excitement.
The other guys tried to argue that it didn’t count, but you glared at them until they glumly moved the cup to the side and re-racked the four remaining cups upon your request. They landed one of their shots and you knocked out three of the four, missing the last one.
“Dude,” JJ told them when he lined up to take his after they missed both of theirs, “we kicked your asses.”
“No thanks to you,” you threw in as JJ way overshot in his drunken state.
He grinned dopily at you and threw the last one, not even looking. Of course, it went in, and he leaned down to kiss you firmly.
They missed both of their redemption shots and you dragged JJ away before they could challenge you to a rematch. He finished his drink and you wordlessly handed him yours, still tasting too strongly of vodka for your liking.
JJ chugged the rest of it before setting your empty cups down. He dragged you to the backyard where the music was blasting and a crowd of drunk college students was dancing.
“Care to dance?” he asked, offering a hand.
You figured it was probably the best way to keep an eye on him, so you reluctantly followed him out into the crowd. What JJ meant by dance was holding your hands and jumping around, forcing you to jump with him, until he felt sick. He mumbled something about his tummy and bathroom and you let him go immediately, gently shoving him in the direction of the house.
JJ stumbled inside and you turned around to see Pope dancing nearby. You slid over to him and the two of you danced together for a few songs before you realized how long JJ had been gone and decided you should probably go check on him.
Pope slung an arm over your shoulder and walked with you inside, toward the bathroom. What you saw when you got there almost gave you an aneurism. JJ was sitting on the ground and John B was poised over him, electric razor in hand, clearly about to buzz JJ’s hair.
“Oh fuck,” Pope managed to get out between laughs at your facial expression. He hunched over, arms wrapped around his stomach, as JJ tried to scramble up.
“Maybank, I know you are not about to get your head shaved,” you told him, deadly serious voice, “I know I’m seeing this wrong.”
“No, babe, think about it. My head will feel so nice in the summer when it’s hot. It’s a win-win,” he explained earnestly.
You crossed your arms, “What’s the second win?”
He had no answer for that and instead tried to hug you. John B was slowly trying to get by you two without catching your attention and you poked his chest, “You know better, JB.”
John B shrugged, “To be fair, it was JJ’s idea.”
“When do we ever listen to drunk JJ?” you retorted, ignoring JJ’s defensive “hey!” in the background.
Pressing a kiss to your cheek, John B fully left the bathroom, dragging Pope with him. You looked at JJ and he grinned down at you, “So you’re saying I wouldn’t look good with no hair?”
“That’s exactly what I’m saying. You are wild past six drinks, bud.”
It didn’t even seem that your words registered with him because immediately after you stopped talking, he snapped his fingers, “Hey, we should go get Whataburger.”
The thought of Whataburger fries was really tempting, so you told JJ, “Stay here, I need to go get my keys and wallet and I’ll drive.”
JJ nodded, seriously, and you jogged off, not actually trusting him to stay in place. You were pretty quick, but by the time you got back to the bathroom, JJ was gone. With a sigh, you tucked your wallet in your back pocket and resigned yourself to having to look for your boyfriend again.
Just like the first time you walked downstairs, he was in the kitchen fixing himself a drink. This time he saw you and loped over to you, drink spilling a little bit. He threw his hands up, even more sloshing out, and cheered, “Honey butter chicken biscuit time!”
“Yes it is, let’s go.”
When you cranked your car up, you were a little surprised to see it was 3 a.m. and JJ immediately plugged his phone up, pulling up a One Direction playlist which he shamelessly listened to pretty regularly.
He rolled his window down and leaned out as you drove down the street, screaming the lyrics to Drag Me Down. You knew he liked feeling the wind in his hair, so you sped a little bit, just for him. When you pulled into the Whataburger drive-thru, he got all the way back in and smiled over at you and said, “Baby, I feel so alive,” just as the song Alive started playing.
You gave him a blank look and ordered his food and a medium fry for yourself. JJ tore into the food almost immediately as you pulled back into the street to drive to the house. He seemed uninterested in joining the party again as he sat in the passenger seat, alternating between bites of the biscuit and sips of his probably mostly vodka drink.
After you parked, JJ stayed sitting as he slowly finished his food and drained the rest of his drink. You nudged him a few times with your elbow to get his attention, “You wanna go upstairs or you wanna rejoin the party.”
He put some serious thought into it before deciding, “Bed time.”
You grabbed your booksack out of the backseat and the two of you went straight upstairs to the bathroom. Locking the door, you made him brush his teeth and get ready for bed. He started to strip out of his clothes and you quickly batted his hands away from where he was tugging his shirt, “Stop it, babe, wait until we get back to your room.”
JJ winked, “Why wait? The door is locked.”
“We’re going to bed, not having sex,” you told him bluntly and swung the door open.
He sighed, grabbing your hand, and followed you down the hall to his room. Dramatically flopping onto the bed, JJ held his arms out to you, “Let’s sleep, I guess, since you don’t love me anymore.”
You rolled your eyes, “I still love you, but you can’t speak without slurring and I’m pretty sure you won’t even remember this conversation in the morning.”
“Probably not,” he admitted, burying his face into your chest. It only took about 45 seconds until he was snoring and you pressed a kiss to the top of his head fondly.
The next morning, you woke up around 10 and decided to sit at the desk he had shoved in the corner to work on a paper for your Child Psychology class. After about 45 minutes, you went downstairs to make some coffee for yourself and the rest of the house, and brought a steaming mug back upstairs to drink while finishing the last two pages of your paper.
You’d just finished editing and submitting it when JJ finally woke up around 1 p.m. He shuffled around a few times, pressing his face into a pillow with a groan.
Laughing softly, you walked over to the bed and sat down next to his head, running your hand through his hair a few times. He pushed his head into it with a slight whine, “My head hurts.”
“I bet it does, sweetheart,” you soothed.
He pouted up at you and you grabbed the medicine and water bottle you’d set up on his bedside table. Clumsily kissing your cheek, he took the medicine and slowly sipped at the water. After clearing his throat a few times, he broke the silence, “How much did I drink yesterday?”
“Well from what I know, you started pre-gaming at 9 a.m. so I imagine your blood is mostly alcohol today.”
“Brain is a little fuzzy,” he admitted.
“You want some coffee?” you asked, starting to stand.
He whined again and wrapped his arms around your waist before you could leave, “Stay.”
Sitting back down, you started stroking his hair again, “You sure, J? I can get you some food while I’m down there.”
“Later,” he mumbled, moving his head to your lap. After about five minutes of you playing with his hair, he was out like a light again, face smushed into the lower part of your stomach, drooling a little bit. You moved to lean back against the headboard and settled in, pulling up Netflix on your phone. Food could wait.

KTH| Jealousy
Tumblr media
Pairing: Taehyung X Reader
Warning: smut, jealousy, swearing, kind of dom!taehyung
Word count: 3,9 k
Plot: You’re working at the hospital as a nurse and your boyfriend Taehyung wants to surpise you and comes to pick you up. As he sees you with another man he gets jealous and shows this in another way.
Like every morning, you woke up with a sleeping Taehyung beside you. It was 6 o'clock and your alarm clock had rung 3 times. Neither Taehyung nor you appeared to get up because it was cold outside and the bed was warm. However, both knew that the other was awake.
Taehyung grinned and hugged you harder. "Good morning Jagi."You nestled close to him. "Good morning Taetae. We should get up slowly. I have to leave at 7:30."
Taehyung shook his head and put his leg over yours so that you could not move. He laughed at it. "Stay home with me today, say you're sick..""Tae, I work in a hospital. I can't just say I'm sick." Taehyung sighed and let go of you. "Here you go, but don't come back to me tonight if you want to cuddle." he pouted. You laughed and got up. "Then who should I go to? Dean or Sam?"
You left the room and went to the kitchen. Taehyung got up and ran after you. He hugged you from behind and put his head on your shoulder."No one. You only come to me to cuddle, understand?" you threw her head back laughing and leaned against Taehyung."You didn't want to, maybe they cuddle better than you?" Taehyung quickly turned you around and looked at you indignantly."Nobody, really nobody, cuddles better than me." And to prove his statement, he snuggled up to you.
Another 20 minutes passed and you saw that you only had 30 minutes left. Taehyung quickly released you and you disappeared into the bathroom.
Taehyung sat in the kitchen and ate a cereal while watching you walk back and forth. After you were done, you quickly put on your shoes and gave Taehyung a quick kiss on the lips as a farewell.
Taehyung had freetime today, so he went through the apartment bored. He called Jimin and Jungkook a few times, but both were busy with their friends. He also called Yoongi, but he didn't answer and blocked the call directly. He was definitely sleeping because he never got around to do it at the moment.
Taehyung sighed and surfed in the internet for things that can be done against boredom. He found and did many strange things. He reinstalled Dubsmash and made various videos and send them to the others. But he didn't get the right answers back, so he gave up after an hour.
He then opened his laptop to play, but he didn't enjoy it without Jungkook, so he decided not to. Then he tried to sleep again. He turned left and right. Thought about what he would do tomorrow, counted sheeps, but nothing helped him. He looked at the clock and it was only 12. He sighed and sat up and just looked straight ahead.
You were running up and down today. You had so much to do that these 3 hours seemed like 12. You couldn't sit down for a minute. The patients came and went. You had to do an infusion there, take blood here. Life as a nurse was difficult, but you always found it interesting to see the different patients. You thought another half a year and then you can study.
When the clock showed 1, you sat down on a bench and sighed. The day wasn't even half over and you were through with your life. Suddenly you saw coffee in front of you."I saw you walking around all the time, you deserved a little break." you looked up and smiled at Dr. Dean. He was really one of the nicest people in the hospital and he helped you every time you needed something."Thank you, Dr. Dean."
He sat down next to you and your shoulders touched for a moment. Dr. Dean turned to you and smiled."How many times do I have to tell you to call me Dean Y/N?" you laughed and took a sip."I'm sorry, I keep forgetting that." Dean laughed with you and you drank your coffee in silence.
You loved to watch people in the hospital. Everyone had their own problems and everyone had different concerns. You liked to work here, liked helping people.
Dean saw a lot of potential in you. You would become a good doctor at some point and Dean would support you. He would help you with every little thing, because he saw himself in you. A young person who would give her life for the happiness and welfare of others. Your devotion and your motivation made him continue. A few years ago he was like that too, but it waned. The motivation became more and more fleeting, but Dean wanted to do his best with you in the hospital.Of course, it was all platonic. Dean was married and had three children. He loved his wife very much and they had to fight a long time to get married. You had become like a little sister to him and he wanted to protect you from the hard life.
Dean took his last sip and stood up. You stand right next to him and Dean laughed. He patted your head."If  you have problems come to me okay?" you nodded and grinned at him. Dean shook his head in his office and prepared for the next patient.
You were fully charged again, these moments with your colleagues always gave you motivation and your energy was promoted to the highest point as at the beginning. You walked straight on to the station and did your work.
It was already 4 p.m. and Taehyung slowly died of boredom. He had been cooking for you since he had nothing to do and he wanted to see you smile. After that he had cleaned up a bit,  it looked as if a tornado had pulled through your home. The kitchen was the worst because he had cooked, but it was too difficult to tidy up and in the end he left everything behind and laid down on the sofa in the living room.
Suddenly he heard noise from the window and noticed that it had started to rain. There was a storm and he was worried about you. Did you take the car with you or were you fine enough to take the bus? He saw the car keys on the chest of drawers and got up.He wouldn't let you drive home alone in this storm. So he gets ready. He changed and ran down to the car. He still had 30 minutes until you were out. He would be there in 20 and he would wait for his girl in 10 minutes.
He had missed you so much in those hours. You always had an idea that Taehyung had so much fun with. You were always there when he needed someone and today was such a day. He would like to just take you with him now before your shift was over. But you would hit him, so he let it be.
He had a brilliant idea and bought a bouquet for you from a florist. He hadn't done it in a long time and that made you always happy. Your eyes sparkled, you grinned all day, maybe even all week, because of such a little thing. He always wanted to make you happy because you made him happy with your existence.Taehyung parked his car and walked slowly to the hospital entrance. He checked his watch and grinned. You should be outside by now.
He was almost in front of the entrance when he saw you under an umbrella with another man. You laughed and looked into each other's eyes. The man asked you something and you nodded shyly. You both went into the parkinglot. Your arms linked together. A smile on your faces. He looked at them with his mouth open and the flowers fell from his hand. His Y/N had gone into the parkinglot with a man. Your face was beaming as always, and your arms were linked.
When Taehyung realized what had just happened, he ran to the entrance to the parking garage and saw you driving away in the car with the man. His eyes widened. Now you drove away with him too. Where did you go with him? Why would you get in a car with a man? Who was this man? Taehyung got angry. Angry with you and the man. How dare the guy go away with his wife? How could you get in the car? Are you cheating on him with someone from the hospital? No, you wouldn't do that, but why did you get in his car. Taehyung would find out whatever it was.
You arrived at home. Dean was so nice to drive it because it was stormy and you really didn't want to get sick. You were supposed to call Taehyung, but you didn't want to bother him because he was enjoying his day off. You thanked Dean and ran into the house. The house was dark and you thought Taehyung was sleeping, so you undressed quietly and went to the kitchen, you were hungry as a bear. You saw ready food and smiled, Taehyung had cooked for you.  You were happy and beamed.
The door opened and closed, you heard this and ran. Taehyung was soaking wet. You was directly concerned. You went to the bathroom and took out a towel and put it on his head."Tae, what happened? Where have you been?" Taehyung took the towel and looked into your eyes. His hair was so long that you didn't recognize the anger in his eyes. "Taetae?"
Taehyung smiled and hugged you. He would not let anyone else take you away from him. He would show you that he was the best in everything. Nobody could make you feel as good as he did and he had to prove this to himself. With his hug he also started walking back with you. You fell on the sofa and he leaned down. His head was in the crook of your neck and he spread feather light kisses on it. You gasped briefly as his wet hair touched your cheek.
You tried to pull yourself together and only got this sentence."Tae, maybe you should go change otherwise- " Taehyung went back and looked into your eyes. His eyes were full of lust and your stomach started to tingle."Psht Jagi. Why don't we do it like that, you take off my clothes and join me right away. You also got wet because of me." First he stroked your neck, then kissed you where his hand was a few seconds ago.
With his kisses, his hand went to your shirt and he started to unbutton it. You didn't know what went into Taehyung, but you liked it and wanted to take part in it. You took off his t-shirt and it ended up somewhere in the room. Your shirt, pants, and his pants followed."We should continue this in the bedroom." Taehyung grinned and took you in his arms. You cried out a short laugh and clung to him. You gave kisses to his neck and ran your fingers over his chest.
The door to the bedroom was wide open, which made it much easier for Taehyung. He threw you on the bed and climbed on top of you. He held your hands tightly over your head with one hand and stroked your face with the other hand. He smiled at you for a few minutes and you grinned back as usual.
The atmosphere from just now was gone as Taehyung wasn't really angry but rather wanted to make sure you think of him all day. With these thoughts in mind, he started to spread your face with kisses and this lead him to your neck. With each kiss he became greedy and you noticed something hard on your thigh which caused the redness in your cheeks to rise.
Taehyung held your hands much stronger and sucked on your neck more often. Moaning, you tried to free your hands so that you could touch him, but Taehyung didn't want that. He knew with a touch of you that he would stop sucking on your neck and immediately start to satisfy himself and you. That's why he had to keep you calm. You fidgeted under him and took a deep breath when you felt a throbbing pain on her neck.
Taehyung had sucked and bitten at one point."Tae, is it not enough with the hickey?" Shaking his head, he looked at you and just grinned."I have to make sure that you think about me all day." you grinned back and then released your hand from his."I always think of you even without them." you ran your fingers over his features and Taehyung closed his eyes for a moment.
He really enjoyed being touched so gently by you. He loved this and as he suspected before, a touch from you made him stop and get down to business. Taehyung sighed lustily and took your hand up to the other before he ran your body down with his other hand. You got goose bumps and trembled shortly before tensing.
Both of you were only wearing underwear and the room was not really warm, but the warmth of the bodies lying on top of each other was sufficient for a comfortable temperature. Taehyung's hands were colder, which is why you unconsciously twitched slightly when he stroked your bare skin.Taehyung stopped at your thighs and put his hand between your legs. He always looked at your face and studied every single change.
Your eyes were closed since the point where Taehyung had reached your thigh. You enjoyed all of his touches and didn't want them to end. He ran his hand along the inside of your thighs several times before touching your sensitive area."Tae please, don't make me wait." Taehyung greedily kissed your neckline as he continued to move his hand in a circular motion. "whatever you want princess."He pulled his hand back and started on your bra and panties.
"You are so beautiful princess." you looked intently at Taehyung and moved your hand to his boxer, but he held it directly over your head."Not yet princess. The first thing is about you." you swallowed when you saw Taehyung's hungry look and then nodded.
Grinning, Taehyung turns back to your body. He licked his lips before he started kissing the edge of your breast. His tongue brushed youe right nipple, causing you to groan. With greedy eyes, he watched your features and bit your skin to see another reaction. He also paid the same attention to your left nipples before placing a hand on your thigh again. You whimpered and moved back and forth."Tell me what you want princess." With each word, his hand moved into the inside of your thigh and you whimpered louder. "Taehyung, please."Slowly he stroked your sensitive area and you moved your pelvis up."You are so impatient princess. I still have to hear from you what you want, otherwise I won't do it. "
You swore briefly, which made Taehyung pull his hand away and grab your chin."Swearing is not allowed, princess? I don't want dirty words to come out of your beautiful mouth. If I hear it again you'll see a different side of me." you nodded and Taehyung let go of your face before he quickly pushed two of his fingers into you and pulled them out again. "TAEHYUNG!" Grinning, he licked his fingers and let go of your hand. He moved down and stopped with his face on your thighs."You taste so good princess. Let me have a little bite before I do what you're waiting for all the time."
Taehyung groaned in anticipation before starting to explore you with his tongue. With each new location explored, you groaned what sounded like music in Taehyung's ears. You couldn't stand it and started moving your hips. Of course, Taehyung didn't like it at all, which is why he pulled his face out and looked at you with reproach."Oh princess, if you had told me what you really want, you wouldn't wait." you closed your eyes for a moment before pulling Taehyung up and kissing him.
Taehyung was caught off guard, but quickly recovered. The kiss deepened with every second. How your lips melted together and your tongues played with each other was driving both of them crazy. You was the first to pull away and pull Taehyung's head down your throat. You leaned against his ear and sipped at him before unobtrusively leading your hand in his boxer."I want you to take me and not let go, Kim Taehyung." you whispered in his ear as you took off his boxers and picked up his cock. Taehyung groaned with your words and touch.
Your hand felt like paradise. He loved being petted by you and let you do it for a few seconds before raising his head to kiss her. "Your wish is my command princess." He took your hand in his and removed it from his cock."Just let me do it princess. I want you to feel me deeply inside of you." you nodded excitedly and Taehyung gave you another kiss before he took his cock in his hand and slowly led him in at first.
Both groaned from Taehyung's slow movements."I want you to feel me in every inch of you." The slow nature of him made you moan more because you weren't used to it going so slowly. With every piece of Taehyung you felt the throb of his piece in you."Taehyung-ah, faster please." With your plead, he pulled his big cock out of you and rammed it back in the next second. "Do you like that more princess?" you nodded, groaning with every thrust."Hard and fast always gets you going, right princess?" He got no other answer than your loud groan.
Taehyung pushed you harder and harder and he was fascinated by how loud you could be in bed if he hit the right places. At one point you clenched harder as you held Taehyung's shoulders. You were getting closer and closer for him, which is why he clung to your hips."Taehyung-ah, I-""I know Princess, me too. Wait and cum with me." you tried to nod, but you knew this would not be the case if he continued with the speed and hardness. Your abdomen tightened as you tried to wait.
But as Taehyung put his head on the back of your neck and his thrusts became more aggressive, you went through a wave of satisfaction. You groaned his name out loud and clutched him tighter as your body trembled. Taehyung also came with you. He bit your shoulder to not make a louder sound before he slumped on your body."I love you princess."
The next day you were back in the hospital. You looked at yourself in the mirror and noticed the blue purple hickey, which you had covered with make-up. You smiled as you thought about last night. Taehyung was somehow more dominant than usual and you liked that very much. You wanted to see more of these sides, but you never dared to say that to him.
You didn't realize that your shift had started. You glanced at the clock and noticed that you were 8 minutes late. You quickly ran to your station and started to work.
Taehyung wanted to go back to the hospital to see who the man was and to show him that I you were his. So he changed clothes and went to the car. He would be there just in time for your lunch break. He had prepared a small box for you with fruits and cookies. Flowers lay next to him and he grinned. You were his and he would show that everyone.
You were sitting with Dean in the staff room and wanted to make a tea when you accidentally poured coffee over it and Dean laughed at it. You were so screwed up today. Your thoughts were always with Taehyung, you were lucky that you hadn't mistreated any patient until now."Stop laughing Dean, that's not funny." Dean got up and could not go on laughing."Y/N, you- you made cofftea." He laughed louder and you looked at him annoyed.
It was all Taehyung's fault. After Dean calmed down, he went to you and leaned against the counter opposite to you. His grin never disappeared from his face."What are you thinking about that made you like this?" you blushed and lowered your eyes."Nothing. I am not thinking about anything." Dean just nodded grinning."You're thinking of him aren't you? And what you did with him." He went up and down with his eyebrows. You looked at him ashamed and slapped him on the shoulder."Be quiet Dean. I'm not thinking of that. You're always thinking of that." Dean continued to grin."Yes, I do, but it's my wife. I could tell you everything if you wanted. I have nothing to hide." you grimaced"Please don't. I don't want to hear from you." Dean smiled and opened his mouth wide when he said louder"So Danneel and I were yesterday-" you covered your ears and screamed."Lalalalalala! I don't hear you! Lalalalala!" Dean laughed and stood in front of you. He ruffled your hair and put his cup on the sink.
Taehyung, who had observed this interaction, went into the room and put the box on the table. You hadn't noticed him yet. He put on a big smile and quickly crossed the distance between himself and you. Then he put his arms around you from behind and you jumped for a moment. When you noticed that it was Taehyung, you relaxed and turned around."Tae, what are you doing here?" Taehyung grinned at you. "We couldn't talk that much yesterday because we were busy with other things, so I wanted to catch up." You blushed and hid your face against his chest. Taehyung's chest quivered with laughter and you looked at him with a playful irritation.
Taehyung looked at you and pressed his lips to yours. You gasped in surprise and tried to keep the kiss short, since Dean was next to them but Taehyung didn't allow this. He put his hands around your waist and pulled you closer to him. His tongue brushed your lower lip and you let him in. Your tongues danced together and your eyes were foggy. You had forgotten about Dean in the room. You had forgotten that they were in the hospital when you moaned briefly.
Taehyung grinned into the kiss. You belonged to him and he wouldn't let anyone touch you. The man in the room should see that only Taehyung could make you make such noises. He should see that there was only Taehyugn for you and only you for Taehyung.
When you struggled to breathe, you remembered Dean. You turned around but saw no one there . The door was closed and only you and Taehyung were in the room. You looked at Taehung and smiled sheepishly."Tae, we're in the hospital. You can't just overpower me and kiss me."He went through his hair and grinned."I can do a lot more, but I'll save that for tonight."He stood in front of you and took a streak behind her ear.
"Who was the man with you?" "That was Dean, he is a doctor here and always helps me when I have problems."Taehyung nods and plays with your hair. "And is he single?" "Huh? Why are you asking?"He went closer to your ear and whispered, "Because I don't want men who are single to get too close to you. You belong with Jagi." you got goose bumps and cleared your throat. "He is married." Taehyung smiled broadly and looked at you with sparkling eyes. "Really? Then everything is fine." you smiled at him, but held your breath as he came back to your ear.
"But never forget princess, you only belong to me."

Island Dreams - Chapter 5
Hello readers :) Just one chapter tonight but it's just shy of 4k words so hopefully it will do fine :)
so... bit of angst coming. Apologies there is a bit of fluff too but not what you hope. Please don't hate Elias. He is my secret weapon to bring our two idiots together. So just be nice to him.
Fun facts: 1. I adore Roald Dahl like our trio. 2. The scene at Luskentyre with the dark clouds and the savage rain. Been there done that. Luckily I saw it in the sun as well. 3. I hug standing stones. I am a serial hugger. Hugged the ones at Callanish and have a few photos of me hugging stones in Orkney as well.
-------------
A week had passed.
Rowan opened the bookshop on time as usual. Switched on the lights and the computer and went to the back and dragged to the counter the bulky box containing the orders that had arrived the previous night.
Once he cracked the box open he realised Aelin’s was at the top, staring at him. He sighed, took the book and sat on the stool behind his counter. For a whole week he hated himself for what he said to her. He had definitely gone too far and he had to find a way to apologise and make it up to her for his dreadful behaviour.
Gently he flipped the book in his hands and read a couple of random pages and smiled. He was positive she was going to love the last book in the series and a part of him was quite eager to discuss the book with her.
He had read the series a long time ago and loved it. Flipping through the pages he found some of the lines he loved and a tenuous smile appeared on his face at the thought that Aelin reminded him so much the female main character in the book.
Both of them had fire in them.
He hadn’t seen her in a week and Maeve told him that she hadn’t been at the coffee shop either.
His aunt’s words still haunted him. She is just as lost as you are.
What could have happened to her? She always appeared to him as full of life and quite energetic, but he guessed that might be a mask she would wear for stranger, for people who were not close to her. He wanted to meet the real Aelin, problems at all. He thought pondered on his aunt’s words. What if she really was the key to get out of the funk he had been stuck for a while? What if he could help her as well? He admitted that he wanted to be his friend and he was going to prove it to her.
Deep down though he knew he had another reason, a bit more selfish. He found her attractive. More than that. The first day in the shop she had taken his breath away. And she loved books probably just as much as he did. Something that Lyria… no. He was not going there.
He closed his eyes and tried to picture Aelin. Her funny attempts to use Gaelic gave him fuzzy feelings.
He had spent a week mulling and thinking about her. He could not stop doing that. She had made him feel again. But the idea terrified him. He had committed completely to a woman once. He gave her all of him, his love, trust, respect and heart. And she destroyed everything. He sighed and put the book on the shelf behind him where he kept all the orders to be collected. He had to find a way to tell her her book was here. In his anger he forgot to take her phone number or address and now he was stuck. He only had to hope that she would remember and pop in in the shop. If he could see her one more time and apologise…
He was busy unpacking when the bell rang and a dark-haired man entered the shop.
“Good morning, can I help you?”
The man looked at him and smiled “Yes, definitely. I am looking for a book. Something on Callanish.” He explained looking around the shop with interest “It’s for a woman. It’s a present. She is new here and I would like to give her a welcome to the islands present. She just visited Callanish for the first time and she loved it.”
Rowan felt sick for a moment. Was that guy talking about Aelin? Because the description sounded very similar. Sadness hit him. So she was doing fine after all. She did not need him.
“I have a nice selection. Ranging form the usual tourist guide to something more fascinating and historical.” And he showed the guy the books. The stranger took one of the bigger ones. One of his favourites.
“That is a great one.” He added pointing at the one the guy was holding in his hands “It has info about the archeological excavations, theories about its use and it connects to the mythology as well. It’s quite complete. Your friend will love it.”
The man smiled again and kept the book.
“Can I just have a look around?”
Rowan nodded keeping an eye on the man. Could it be that he was talking about Aelin? He did his best to convince himself that it was just a coincidence. It had to be. But sadness struck anyway. He had planned to  get that book for Aelin. He was positive she would have adored it. And now chances were another man was going to give it to her.
The man came back with a second book. A colouring book of the Hebrides “I have a feeling Aelin will love them.”
Rowan stopped. His world froze. And his heart was beating furiously in his chest.
“She is a lucky woman.” Rowan forced himself to say. “Would you like me to wrap them since it’s a present.”
“That would be amazing if it’s not too much trouble.”
Rowan took a deep breath and steadied his hands.
“You have a great place here. And I love your Roald Dahl display.”
Those words stung. That was one of the first things Aelin had said to him.
“Big fan.” Was all that Rowan managed ignoring the roaring fury rising in him. At his stupidity. His bad temper. That could have been him if only he had been able to control himself and be nice for once in his life.
“When I was little I was obsessed with James and the Giant Peach.” The man continued while Rowan was working on wrapping the books. He had a feeling that Aelin was a big fan of Matilda.
“Here we go.” Rowan passed the present to the man.
The stranger paid and left the shop.
Rowan sat in silence for a while then stood, turned the sign of the shop to closed, switched off the lights, locked the door and went home.
All of a sudden he did not feel in the mood anymore to deal with people.
He grabbed his car and drove in silence until he reached his favourite spot on the islands. He went to the Butt of Lewis, sat on the edge of the cliff and admired the sea raging against the cliffs, mirroring perfectly his current mood.
Aelin had taken a day off from exploring. She had driven a lot the previous days and she needed a break from here car. She had gone back to Luskentyre, however this time she was not so lucky with the weather. An horrible storm had hit once there. And still, the place was stunning. The dark clouds heavy with rain seemed to enhance the blues and green of the water. A strange light had embraced the bay and the sand appeared even whiter. Then the rain hit and she thought she had never seen a rainstorm so brutal. She had stayed in the car and waited it out. Being Scotland, the weather was very changeable and ten minutes later the sun was out and the most amazing rainbow arched across the beach. Not a single one of her photo did any justice to the beauty in front of her.
She was now wandering around Stornoway and convinced herself to go to Rowan’s shop. It had been a week and her book should have arrived. The last one had ended in an epic cliffhanger and now she needed to know. It was a matter of life or death.
She turned the corner and a strange feeling overcame her when she noticed the lights off. At the entrance door a sign said Dùinte and underneath Closed in English. It was almost noon, how was it possible it was closed? Rowan was punctual to a fault. Was he sick? She wished she had his mobile number to get in touch with him.
She was worried.
But most of all she realised she missed him. Yes, they barely knew each other and they didn’t have the best of the beginnings, but still…
She sighed and walked away.
In that instant Elias texted her. She had caved in the end and texted him. They had started chatting. That morning he had told her that he was in town and they agreed to meet.
He was waiting for her at the parking near the ferry terminal. She tucked her sadness away and walked toward the terminal.
She had debated every day since she gave Elias her number if she had done the right thing.
She clearly felt something for Rowan. What it was, she still wasn’t sure. And although he had been grumpy and they fought, something about him resonated within her. As if his soul somehow called out to hers.
The rational part of her quickly rejected the idea as the twisted and unachievable idea of love that her books had given her over the years.
Human’s relationships were nothing but pain.
For a moment she argued to herself that for some inexplicable reason his soul had somehow resonated with Rowan’s. That if they were in a book instead, someone would have pointed out that the pining was due to them being soulmates.
A minute later after that thought she snorted loudly.
They were everything but. They weren’t even friends.
What about enemies to lovers? She snorted again and closed the distance to where Elias was waiting for her.
There were more chances of Rowan strangling her than them becoming friends.
All that mental gymnastics to convince herself that texting Elias was good. That she was not betraying Rowan.
But at the same time she felt a horrible person. She had no idea what she wanted from Elias. She was not ready yet to commit again. But still, she didn’t want to mislead him. He seemed such a nice guy. Hurting was the last thing she wanted to do to him.
Aelin finally arrived at the car park and saw him. He was as tall as Rowan. He was standing beside his car. Sunglasses on his head, dark shorts, a light blue polo shirt hugged his upper body nicely and she could not force her gaze away from him. He was stunning.
But he is not Rowan a voice said in her head and she told it to shut up.
“Hello.” He waved at her and she noticed his bright smile and his two dimples make their appearance. She had forgotten his smile.
“Hey.” She said joining him near his car “Nice car by the way. Being an engineer must pay really well.” She joked and hoped she hadn’t gone too far as her usual.
“Love a woman with a good taste in cars. It’s a Tesla. Cost me a kidney but this baby it’s worth it.”
“Of course you get a Tesla. You are an environmental engineer so an electric car makes sense. If you were a book character you’d be considered perfectly in character.”
Elias laughed loudly at the joke. Then he opened the door, and grabbed something from the car “For you. A welcome to the islands gift.”
Aelin took the present and froze when she noticed the sticker on top. The present came from Rowan’s bookshop. All of a sudden she forgot how to breath. At least she did manage to hide her shaky hands from Elias.
She opened the present and squealed in delight when she noticed the book about Callanish and underneath a colouring book. She put the second on the roof of the car and opened the first one. Inside the dust jacket she noticed a small note. That, definitely did not belong there. The calligraphy was neat Your book is here. I guess you want to know what happens after the cliffhanger. Then at the bottom of the note I am sorry. R.
How did he know that Elias was giving her the book? A wave of panic hit her.
Sneakily she hid the note from Elias and pretended to browse the book, but her mind kept going back to Rowan’s message. Her heart was hammering in her chest, so much that it almost hurt. The words I am sorry resonating in her head like an echo.
“Glad you loved the books. I forgot there was a nice bookshop in town. I got it from there. The one about Callanish came with a recommendation from the owner.” Aelin felt like crying. She was just picturing Rowan helping Elias pick the book for her. Why was she feeling like that for a man who had clearly told her that she meant nothing to him? Why was she caring so much?
Had Lysandra been there she would have told her to drop the grumpy guy and take the nice one.
She stretched and gave Elias a little peck on the cheek “Thank you. They are perfect. Now I just need some pencils for the colouring book.”
“That, we can fix easily.” Elias went around the car and opened the other door for her “Hop in.”
Aelin looked at him puzzled “I thought we were staying in town.”
“No way, there is still so much for you to see.”
“I am in a Tesla.” She commented ecstatic and noticed Elias grinning. “I don’t have car. In London it’s a nightmare. Traffic is horrendous and parking near my house is just non existent. Luckily the tube takes me to work easily.”
“On the islands the only traffic jam you experience is cattle, sheep and the annoying tourists driving motorhomes where they shouldn’t and going at a slow pace because they have to take a photo of every single piece of grass.”
Aelin laughed “I got stuck in the middle of a flock of sheep the other day. I was along the Golden Road.”
“Well, that was your baptism of fire and you passed it.”
Half an hour later they were crossing a bridge. Elias explained to her that they were heading for Great Bernera. As soon as they cleared the bridge he pulled over and parked the car at the small picnic area. She got out and stood immobile for a moment to take in the beauty of the landscape.all around her. Then Elias grabbed her hand and he pulled toward the left. She looked up and she noticed some standing stones and she felt giddy.
“Come on.”
They climbed the short path and they reached the stones.
Aelin went to hug them and she made Elias laugh out loud “that is a very unusual reaction.” Then he took his  phone and took a photo “Now I can bribe you until eternity.”
Aelin dismissed him with a rude gesture and kept hugging the stone.
“You are hugging Callanish VIII.”
Aelin gasped in surprise.
“This place is quite peculiar. It is a semi circle and not a full circle and according to the archaeologists it was never a full circle. No one knows what it was for. However, according to the local folklore, due to its strange configuration and location, on a calm winter day when the sun is low a strange experience might occur. If you walk between the tall stone and the water a double shadow is cast on the stone. One shadow is produced by the sun and the other by the sun’s reflection on the water.” He explained, his gaze fixed on the horizon.
“I tried plenty of times but no luck.”
He walked behind her and tugged her to his chest, leaning his chin on her shoulder. Elias then took her hand and pointed “There,” he said “over there you have Callanish. The main site.”
She leaned against his hard chest and took comfort in the nice feeling.
“That is so awesome.”
“I am pretty sure your book will have a part about these stones.” His breath was gentle against her ear and she shivered in pleasure at the feeling.
“Let’s go. We haven’t reached our final destination yet.” He moved away and for a brief second she missed the warmth of his body against hers.
They got back in the car and they drove for a bit longer. The road was narrow but Elias drove with the experience of a local and she felt pretty safe.
They finally reached a parking area and she was ready to get out again.
“The islands are quite amazing for their historical sites.” He started, offering his hand to her.
She took it and he smiled tenderly. His thumb gently brushing the top of her hand.
“Are you ready for a visit to the iron age?”
They walked in silence for a short stretch along the wall of a cemetery and then she noticed the Iron Age house. Elias paid the pound to get into the house, but she was more interested in the stunning beach she had spotted at the end of the path. Once out of the house she took running toward the beach and Elias followed until he grabbed at her waist “You ungrateful witch. I am showing you an historical site and all you care is the beach.”
Aelin laughed and turned to him, their faces dangerously close “Sorry, but the beach looks soooooo amazing”
Elias let her go and playfully pushed her away “Go. Have fun.”
She smiled at him and walked toward the beach, removed her shoes and walked in the water. That had become her ritual.
Bosta beach was another gem. A hidden one, it looked like.
Elias joined her in the water and stood beside her, their arms touching “When I was young, my brother and I used to come here and kayak. See the islands in front of us?” He pointed and Aelin nodded “That is little Bernera. The only way to get there is by boat. On the the side there is a beach that is something out of this world. Untouched. Pristine. With waters of colours so bright that they might not be real.”
She turned to him and looked at Elias in the eyes. And they were bright, full of joy
“You have a childish streak.” He tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear.
“No, that came out wrong. What I meant is that you seem to tackle life with the same joy a kid does. The way you hugged the stone, or how you run just now or your face when you saw the books. It’s contagious.” With a hand he caressed her face.
She should pull away and break that contact, but she couldn’t because she realised she missed it. So in the end she leaned into his touch, basking in the feeling of his hand on her cheek.
“Tha thu bóidheach…” he whispered “You are beautiful.” He repeated in English.
Aelin broke the contact and went to sit down on the sand. She needed a moment to collect herself. To unravel the set of conflicted emotions battling inside her.
In front of her there was Elias. A wonderful man who seemed quite keen to be in her company. Who was intelligent and fascinating and sweet. A man capable of making her heart race madly. He was perfect. He was handsome. Unbelievably so. And then there was Rowan. Who was… maddening. They were nothing and no chance of their status changing anytime soon.
She sighed.
Elias sat beside her “did I do something wrong?” His blue eyes fixed on her “What I said and did… sorry if it made you uncomfortable.”
Aelin shook her head. He was considerate and with his face mere centimetres from hers she realised she just wanted to kiss him.
“You didn’t do anything wrong,” she explained and wondered if it was the time to open up to someone else. But Maeve’s word replayed in her head. You can help each other. He is stuck too. She wanted to open up to Rowan. According to Maeve he was suffering for something too. She wanted him to open up to her. She knew it felt wrong. She could not open up to Elias. That was something that belonged to Rowan. Of that she was sure.
“I haven’t done this in a while.”
“Are you seriously telling me that in the whole of London there is not a single man who’d consider himself lucky to have you?”
“I can be a handful.”
“My brother has three kids under the age of ten. I can handle handful. Believe me.”
Aelin laughed and leaned her head on his shoulder “And why a guy like you is single?”
“The missus had a side thing with her boss. They eloped. She got pregnant and now she lives the grand life in Edinburgh with the money she got from the divorce and got stuck with the kid. He was rich. Filthy rich and she just wiped him clean.”
“And you were married to her?”
“Oh yeah. I was young and stupid. We lasted two years.”
“Probably you didn’t earn enough big bucks.”
Elias laughed genuinely “Aye, I was a poor nobody compared to her second husband.”
“Her loss,” Aelin added.
He tuned his head surprised by that remark. His face inched closer and hesitated for a second, then finally kissed her
Aelin resisted him for a moment, but then she melted in the kiss. His lips were soft. The kiss started gentle but then it got harder and she could feel need seeping from it.
His hands went to her back and slowly pushed her on the sand on her back. Aelin run her hands in his hair and pulled him closer.
She nibbled his lower lip and the sound he made awoke something at her core. His hands slid to her sides and he traced the length of her body. She closed her eyes and froze. A pair of green eyes appeared in her vision. Rowan’s face floated in front of her and she froze. She sat up quickly.
“Not on the beach near a tourist attraction.” She stood and patted the sand away from her clothes using it as an excuse to put some distance between them.
Slowly she gathered the courage to look at him and she saw hurt in his blue eyes.
“You are right. Being arrested for sex in public is not in my today’s plan.” And the dimples came back.
“I am sorry I…” she fumbled.
He got closer and kissed tenderly on her lips “No need to apologise.” Then he patted her hair. “You are covered in sand.”
In silence they walked back to the car and even on the journey home she struggled to say more than a few words. She held her book on her legs and kept thinking at the message inside and how she will face Rowan the next day.
“I can drop you off at your place.”
“No, the car park is fine. It’s a nice evening. I don’t mind the stroll.”
“Ok, mo charaid.”
Aelin leaned forward and kissed him “Thank you for the books and for today. I had so much fun.”
“Me too,” he kissed her back.
Aelin broke the kiss and left the car. He got out and leaned on the roof “Text me.”
“I will do, mo charaid”
Elias laughed “you are so sexy when you try to speak Gaelic.”
Aelin blew him a kiss and walked away.
When she was almost home she leaned against the small wall separating the road from the marina and looked toward the town. To the spot where Rowan’s shop was.
And wondered what he was doing.
Wondered if he missed her as well.
