so help me god i will brave the boredom of (re-)learning R syntax through codecademy with my forest timer 🙏🏻

plan for the last few days of 2023:

physio ✅

laundry ✅

read moral philosophy article ✅

set up vscode for local work ✅

learn git and save portfolio to my own repo ✅ (btw, does anyone know whether you get to have access to the me50 repo years after you've finished cs50? would be nice to get to keep my work...)

forest stopwatch w/ learn R course ✅ (there's still quite a ways to go 😪 but at least i'm learning...i think... i'll probably still have to look up a bunch of things in the docs whenever i finally do my first project 😅)

slowly read 1 journal article on said lab's research ✅

write cover letter for a lab i want to work in ✅

🏁 do the quicker, high-priority tasks as fast as you can to get 'em outta the way!

Finals are 5 weeks away and my anxiety is off the roof. Today's Productivity List:

Simple Linear Regression: for 4 hours. note-taking and practice problems.

Correlation: Still studying. Might take 3 hours or so. Again note-taking and practice problems.

Slept full 8 hours.

hey! I also want to major in stats & data science, but I don't know how to exactly work for it you know? Can i dm you? :D

Not sure if I'm late but I hadn't checked in my asks like eons. Deepest Apologies for that 🙇🏽‍♀️.

It's a very interesting major. For the core stat part you definitely need to strengthen your math basics. Basic Algebra, Precalculus and Linear Algebra is a core part of the mathematical part of Statistics. Most course outlines will have these built in their curriculum(mine does) But if it doesn't you can always study up on this on Edx or YouTube. (You can ask me for materials as well)

For data science, you need to develop a liking for coding. (which is not easy) Everyone usually starts with Python or SQL. I didn't have any coding experience but if you work hard enough anything is possible.

To be honest, this was my Plan C for higher studies. But turns out Statistics is much more fun to study than you think. Data science is the future so definitely go for it I say.
