Kingdom Hearts Divergence, the Hearts In Chaos Chronicle
THE GOOD GUYS
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ephemer - The main protagonist of the saga, debuting as a dual MC next to Sora in KH4 before Sora's Keyblade of Light chooses Ephemer to be its new wielder. Ephemer's background is opposite of Sora's in that he's always known of other worlds, Keyblades, powers of light and darkness from the heart, Kingdom Hearts and all that because he's actually a member of the Dandelion Guild who comes from the distant past, having been thrust forward in time after running afoul of a conspiracy being set in motion by the then-current Guild Masters. Ephemer is a kind-hearted, empathetic and curious youth who wishes to solve the mysteries of the World, such as the Book of Prophecies and what exactly transpired between the Unions of the Dandelion Guild that caused Keyblades and Masters to become scarce. Much hard-hitting and less easygoing than Sora, he can be a bit cocky when he fights but is also known to be hesitant when he is unsure he's up to a big task, particularly true for becoming the next Keyblade Master, but he gradually starts to grow into the role. Ephemer is voiced in the English dub by Michael Johnston.
Skuld - The series' new female lead is quite special, as she's come to the present timeline from a far off future. It's never confirmed outright where she hails from and who her family is, but it is strongly implied that she's the future daughter of Squall Leonhart and Rinoa Heartilly, with similiarities in hair, fashion sense, and even the use of a sort of "Gunblade" as her weapon of choice. Skuld, like Riku, has dabbled in the powers of Darkness and can now uses abilities derived from the twilight in-between. Despite being something self-serious, driven, and something of a loner at first, Skuld cares greatly for her friends and doesn't like seeing others fighting and getting hurt, which is why she tries to carry the burdens all by herself. As she befriends Ephemer and begins to loosen up, we see she is every bit as empathetic as him and willing to take great risks to protect others.
Skuld is voiced in the English dub by Cristina Vee.
Brain - A young man living in the present day's Daybreak Town, Brain (pronounced BRYNE) is a cool, laid-back, and studious person by nature. The first person befriended by Ephemer when he lands in this timeline, Brain becomes protective of the boy like a big brother. He is very clever and tactically gifted, good with analytics, deduction, and making plans to be implemented in times of conflict. Brain was also hesitant about becoming an adventuring, world-saving hero, believing himself incapable of fulfilling the role, but resolves to perform his duties to prevent another war from breaking out. It is later revealed that Master Luxu's heart cast itself into Brain's and melded with it (akin to Ventus with Sora), so the Luminous Vanguard seek to recruit him into the Lost Masters, but Brain fights to assert that his heart is his own and he "makes himself" who he truly is. Much like Organization XIII's Zexion, Brain's weapon of choice is a magic book.
Brain is voiced in the English dub by Max Mittelman.
Huey, Dewey, and Louie Duck - In the year between KH2-KH3 and KH4, Donald's triplet nephews underwent a growth spurt and got even more deeply involved with being entrepreneurs under their great uncle Scrooge's mentorship, finally deciding they were ready to take on adventures of their own across the galaxy. As fate would have it, their first such endeavor leads them to Ephemer, and from them on they are inseparable from him. The Nephews act as a constantly rotating unit. In some worlds Ephemer can switch between which Nephew he wants to have fight along with him, but in select worlds, only one nephew will be available. Their specialty is utilizing magic like their uncle, but through high-tech gear rather than staffs.
The Nephews are voiced in the English dub by Danny Pudi (Huey), Ben Schwartz (Dewey), and Bobbi Moynihan (Louie).
Max Goof - The estranged teenage son of Disney Castle's lead guard, Goofy, Max is a squire still in training whose tastes tend to differ from his doofus dad's, including his belief that the best defense is a good offense, which is why he fights with a very shield-like blade. When Goofy and Donald accompany Sora to look into the rise in blight power and the Demi-Deterged, Max steals away on his own to prove himself, running into Donald's Nephews and Ephemer in the process. As one of Ephemer's constant companions, Max fears being as clumsy as his dad or being seen as needing of constant supervision and help, but eases into becoming a knight on his terms.
Max is voiced in the English dub by Jason Marsden.
Timothy Mouse - A mouse who used to be a big name in show biz but has since fallen to the wayside and become homeless. Timothy accompanies Ephemer and his friends on their journeys. The whole joke with him is that as he is a mouse and he's joined up with ducks and a Goof, Timothy believes himself a potential successor to King Mickey himself only to find himself the new Jiminy Cricket instead.
Timothy is voiced in the English dub by Chris Edgerly, who also voices the role of Cid.
King Mickey - We all know who he is by now, and of course he was going to involve himself somehow. Following KH4, he gets seen much less in the plot, making it a big deal whenever he does pop up.
King Mickey is voiced in the English dub by Brett Iwan.
Figaro - A stray cat from Disney Town who tags along with Max and with the main party, being attracted to Ephemer, Skuld, and Brain's monochrome colors they wear that match Figaro's own fur.
Figaro is voiced in the English dub by Frank Welker.
Chirithy - The Chirithy were the ancient predecessors to Moogles in the World, but only one such Chirithy remains in the present day.
Chirithy is voiced in the English dub by Lara Jill Miller.
The Blue Fairy - The very same Blue Fairy who brought Pinocchio to life, it's her magic that draws Ephemer, Brain, and Skuld together, as she fills Yen Sid's old spot as the primary magic-powered mentor.
The Blue Fairy is voiced in the English dub by Rosalin Landor.
Merlin - Speaking of magic-powered mentor, Merlin is still very much around, still working with the Committee, still in possession of the Winnie The Pooh book, and still offering magic training to any who need it. He becomes particularly close with both Brain and Max.
Merlin is voiced in the English dub by Jeff Bennett.
Scrooge McDuck - Donald's uncle and the great uncle of Huey, Dewey, and Louie who mentored them in the ways of big business. Uncle Scrooge is still around the hub worlds, always doing his thing.
Scrooge McDuck is voiced in the English dub by En Reitel.
Wreck-It Ralph & Pals - First obtained as summonable allies by Sora in KH3, Ralph, Vanellope, Felix, and Sgt. Calhoun are allies in their own world in KH4 and become recurring aid to Ephemer's party.
They are voiced in the English dub by John C. Reily, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, and Jane Lynch.
Kermit The Frog - No one quite understands what Kermit's deal is, but he was displaced from his home world when it got torn up by blight, so now he seeks application with Leon's Committee in KH4. Later reunited with his Muppet friends in KH5, Kermit continues to help out while also serving as the host for entertainment venues and mini-games. He's generally good-natured, but not good at handling frustration, and has next to no combat capabilities besides dodging.
Kermit The Frog is voiced in the English dub by Matt Vogel.
Elrena, Lauriam, & Strelitizia - The resident "Hayner, Pence, and Olette" of Daybreak Town, this trio is unique in that there are two girls and one guy this time! The three of them were in the very last remnant of the old Dandelion Guild and like a family to one another, but Strelitiza tragically lost her heart in an incident a few years ago, with Lauriam and Elrena losing their hearts to the Heartless when they invaded their world. Now fully restored to life, the trio become loyal allies to Ephemer upon learning his ties to the Dandelion Guild.
Elrena, Lauriam, & Strelitzia are voiced in the English dub by Shanelle Workman-Gray, Keith Ferguson, and Madison Davenport.
THE ENEMIES
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Demi-Detergered - A truly bizarre and unexpected evolution has occurred within many of the Heartless that still roam the worlds. Powers of light, light stolen from the hearts of others, have entered their veins and changed them from within. Rather than be attracted to the darkness of people's hearts with the instict to prey upon those hearts, these Heartless seek out darkness and attack it in ways that prove dangerous to hearts and destructive to the fabric of the World. Called the Demi-Deterged, this brand of Heartless and the "blight" they possess is exploited by the Luminous Vanguard in their quest to purge reality of darkness and re-organize it around eternal light.
Neodarkness - An entity made of pure raw darkness who's become ruler of the Dark Realm, ensuring that all dark beings like Darklings, Heartless, Unversed, and Nightmares return to the World. In his previous existence, Neodarkness was Vanitas, the dark half of Ventus who served Master Xehanort. In accepting his nature, his dark soul was able to evolve into something else. Pure evil as he seems, Neodarkness doesn't always disturb the peace and finds himself frequently acting on the defensive against beseiging blight.
Neodarkness is voiced in the English dub by Haley Joel Osment.
Pete & Duke Mortimer - While Maleficent plays the chief antagonist role in KH4 along with Judge Frollo, she's brought down and sapped of all her dark magical power in the end. Unable to act anymore, she tasks Pete with tending to all her tasks and searching for a way to restore her power to her, and knowing that her chief flunkie is hardly reliable on his own, she inducts a new flunkie into her service: Duke Mortimer Mouse, King Mickey's rival from Disney Town who debuted in KH4. Creating a faux Keyblade for his use, Mortimer also comes in handy for slaying Demi-Deterged as he and Pete travel the worlds.
Pete and Duke Mortimer are voiced in the English dub by Jim Cummings and Maurice Lemarche respectively.
The Luminous Vanguard - A clerical society of white mages made from what used to be different unions for the Dandelion Guild. While their seven masters entering stasis in time made the group unable to function for ages, it has finally reactivated and is out to achieve its leader's vision of a reconstructed Kingdom Hearts whose pure light can spread to not just all worlds, but all Worlds, and burn away all darkness so that all hearts will be forced into obedience to the light. Having eliminated the ability for hearts to unite with Keyblades in frequency ages ago, the Vanguard abhors the very existence of the Keyblade, believing such a weapon to not be fit for human hands.
Master Narix - Founder and leader of the Luminous Vanguard. Narix has long believed that the majority of hearts are naturally weak and susceptible to darkness that begets dark powers that defile the World, and that only the strongest and purest of hearts should set the course for the World and its denizens. Envisioning a reality where darkness no longer exists, light conquers all Worlds, and he reigns supreme as the light's oppressive guardian, Narix arrogantly looks to use blight to tear down and reconstruct Kingdom Hearts from within its innermost heart, and will eradicate all that would get in his way. The road to the deepest darkness is paved with good intentions.
Master Narix is voiced in the English dub by Johnny Yong Bosch.
The Lost Masters - The six Masters who accompanied Narix in forming the Luminous Vanguard were Avali, Fura, Gorgeyo, Jelus, Ecaed, and the now deceased Luxu. Aside from Luxu, the only truly prominent Master is the young Avali, whose pure heart and convictions to doing good by others for the cause of light enabled her to become one of the new Princesses of Heart. More than the others she has doubts about the rightness of the Vanguard's course, but tends to quickly dispell those doubts and show why a pure heart of light can be incredibly dangerous if exploited by the wrong crowd.
In the English dub, Avali is voiced by Jenna Ortega, Fura by Travis Willingham, Gorgeyo by Matthew Mercer, Jelus by Katelyn Gault, and Ecaed by Adam McArthur (and Luxu by Hector Elizondo).
Justice Minister Frollo - Having lost his authority in La Cite des Lumieres, Judge Frollo was beckoned out from his world by the Lost Masters, who annointed him as Minister of Justice to lead the test run faction of the Luminous Vanguard, with the leftover Nightmare energy Frollo had attained granting him the power to control and exploit the Demi-Deterged. Gladly compliant with the Vanguard's mission to purge the World of darkness but holding himself in such esteem that he frequently changes the course of plans without the Lost Masters' imput, Frollo's broad defining of what is sinful sees him seeking the destruction of many Disney villains and Disney good guys alike, as all this grows and enhances his own heart’s darkness yet he remains ignorant or in denial of it due to his sense of self-righteousness.
Frollo is voiced in the English dub by Timothy E. Brummud.
Evanesse' - A very different sort of adversary Ephemer finds himself faced with later in his quest. Created as a Hollow Replica by the late Xehanort, he's inadvertedly found and given life by Ephemer, making him a Xehanort replica whose essence is but a pale copy of what came from Ephemer's heart. Calling himself Evanessé, he seeks to find his own aim and to define his place in the World, but plagued by self doubt that he can live up to his own expectations for existing and by the specter of Xehanort, he comes to resent life and decides he just wants everything around him to disappear into nothingness...
Evanesse' is voiced in the English dub by Dylan Sprouse.

lights of the city mini fics: ruby's story
...
Coming out to Casey was the easy part.
She was already a lesbian herself, and had actually been the one to suggest the nickname ‘Ruby’ ages prior, so chances were pretty good this wouldn’t be a problem. And it wasn’t! Ruby simply offhandedly mentioned she was a girl now, and she was also a lesbian, and Casey just nodded, a sort of smug, imperious look on her face, and moved on, unphased.
The hard part was coming out to her uncles.
It’s not that she was afraid of them, not at all, they were good men, regardless of their criminal enterprise. Mickey always took her shopping for new suits, even if he didn’t particularly care for fashion. Danny let her tag along when he went on walks, and explained the history of the hidden city as he went. Leonard- as much as he complained- still taught her to cook when she was bored as a child. As for Heinous Green, granted, he wasn’t exactly the most chatty man alive, but he was always willing to listen to her ramble about whatever wrestling move she’d picked up from her favorite human wrestler Ghost Bear. They were all good men.
But she really wasn’t sure what they’d think of this.
She knew that Mickey, at the very least, didn’t mind trans people. It’d come up during one of their dumpster diving trips, and he had, in his own way, admitted his support of the community.
“I mean,” He’d said, picking up a bag of chips and sniffing it. “‘S long as it don’t hurt me or mine, ‘s none o’ my business, bro. D’you think Leonard would eat salt ‘n vinegar if we told ‘im it was just salt?”
And that was it.
So, he at least didn’t have a problem with them, but that didn’t mean he’d be fine with his nephew becoming his niece.
It was harder than she would have expected to get the four of them in a room together. Leonard was always sulking around and trying to look cool in some corner, Danny was generally pretty busy with something or other, and if you looked away from Mickey for five minutes he would generally disappear under your nose. Heinous Green was easy, though, he had a soft spot for Ruby, and always had.
And so, after a good hour of effort, she got them all to sit on the couch, and she stood in front of them, and she took a deep deep breath.
“I have… I have something to tell you? And… and you have to wait until I’m done to talk, alright?”
Mickey made a zipping motion across his lips, and the other three nodded, and she sighed, sitting up a little straighter, balling her hands in her lap.
“I think- no. I am a girl. My name is Ruby, and I use she/her pronouns,” She said, before hesitating, trying to think of anything else to say. “I… I have always been a girl, but I didn’t figure it out until like a month ago. This doesn’t change who I am, I’m still the same person, I’m just… I’m just a girl now.”
She finally focused on the expressions of the men gathered in front of her, and- oh. Oh that was unexpected.
Danny was grinning widely and sharply at her, Heinous was nodding slowly, Leonard looked wholly unsurprised, and Mickey… well, Mickey looked absolutely befuddled, which was hardly anything new.
“I could have sworn…” He muttered, shaking his head. “We looked it up and everything-”
“She’s trans, dipshit,” Leonard rolled his eyes. “She’s sayin’ she’s transgenda.”
“Ohhhh,” Mickey’s eyes went wide. “I thought-”
“Ruby,” Danny leaned forward. “Do you want to try estrogen?”
“Uh,” She blinked. “I don’t… I don’t know, should I?”
“It’s up to you,” He said, holding up his hands in mock surrender. “But I have been wanting to rob a pharmaceutical company for months now, and-”
“-And what he’s saying is, we support ya.” Leonard said, huffing. “If you’re a chick, then you’re a chick. Good on ya. You can still drive, right?”
“Yeah?”
“Then we have no problems with it. Right Green?”
Heinous nodded.
Ruby sniffed. “You guys… you guys mean it? For real?”
“We mean it,” Danny smiled. “For real.”
She launched herself forward, and Heinous caught her easy, picking her up and swinging around, just like he had when she was a little girl.

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS (IN HELL) Podcast Released For Day Of The Dead Holiday
On the heels of their recently released scripted musical podcast, The Ballad of Uncle Drank, Audio Up has now released the next installment of their webby-nominated ‘In Hell’ podcast series, which to date has spanned across Halloween, Valentine’s Day and Prom season.
Titled Dia De Los Muertos (In Hell), the four-episode fictional podcast (created by Audio Up founder and CEO Jared Gutstadt) releases its first two episodes just in time for Day of The Dead holiday, across SiriusXM audio entertainment platforms — including the SXM App, Pandora, and Stitcher — and other major podcast platforms in the U.S.
Tumblr media
Marking Audio Up’s first Spanish-language project, the podcast is starring the iconic Danny Trejo, chart-topping rapper Snow Tha Product, Jared Gutstadt, and newcomer Balam.
Ushering in new Halloween traditions with their campfire ready horror musicals dating back to their COVID era experiment with Machine Gun Kelly, 24kGoldn, and iann dior’s Halloween In Hell (which spawned a chart topping podcast and music streams in the millions), Audio Up’s Spanish language sequel will mostly follow the same formula but for a brand new language and audience.
Dia De Los Muertos (In Hell) picks up where the adventure leaves off with the Devil and Gazul looking to steal souls, this time finding themselves out of their comfort zone at the Day of the Dead festival in Mexico during their version of spooky season.
In this series, a band from Cancun called Mensajeros del Mictlán is invited to an unknown music festival during Dia de Los Muertos, only to find that the festival has been organized by Satan himself. Dia De Los Muertos follows Satan (played by Trejo) in his attempt to recruit more souls into Hell. We follow the Latin band Los Mensajeros del Mictlán who have received an invitation to perform at the All Souls Music Festival in Mexico. But what our heroes don’t know is that this music festival is part of Satan’s evil plan to round up more souls into the Nether World. Eventually, the band shows Satan — through a musical adventure — that it is necessary to expand his mind and horizons beyond his activities in the Underworld. Each episode unlocks new music within the series and across DSP’s.
Packed with music from original Latin artists such as Snow Tha Product alongside the debut effort of up-and-coming artist Balam, Dia De Los Muertos (In Hell) promises to be one wild comedic adventure and journey through the depths of the underworld and beyond.
Audio Up CEO Jared Gutstadt says, “These are the sort of campfire stories that I was told as a kid at overnight camp meant to scare, entertain and in success become a new form of folklore. The music coming from these projects is absolutely phenomenal, and working with some of the top Mexican and Mexican-American talent across acting and music has really brought this whole thing together. Danny Trejo is an absolute legend of action films, and Snow Tha Product is someone who we admire greatly for her ability to become a chart topping artist with a brand new independent lens. This feels a lot like the early days of nineties indie cinema. We’re trying to create IP of the future with these concepts, and we’re excited to unlock more Spanish language content along the way.”
“I’ve played a lot of bad dudes over the years, but this is the first time I didn’t have to stab anybody,” said iconic actor Danny Trejo who is set to play Satan in the series. “Sign me up again, homes, this podcast thing is cool.”
“Day of the dead is a magical time of year… letting a new audience into this fantastical world through our podcast and immersive world is really exciting and new,” stated Snow Tha Product. “This is a funny, cool and awesome story. The songs are fire and Audio Up is breaking some new ground. Getting to work with the legendary Danny Trejo is the icing on the cake. I’m proud to be part of this podcast”
Dia De Los Muertos (In Hell) released its first two episodes on October 25th, with episode three releasing on November 1st, and the final episode releasing on November 8th.

@sp00pygal has got me thinking about Amorpho...
Tumblr media
I've never really thought about it until now but it all makes sense
I think he was an undercover private investigator, who was really good at blending into spaces for reconnaissance.
Probably some sort of guy that didn't love who he was, sometime back in the 20s-40s? He died trying to tail the wrong person.
Probably some mafia boss, they tortured him for information before cutting him off. It was who he was, being a private investigator, that's what got him killed.
Now as a ghost he has repressed any memory of that life and is happy being no one. If he knew who he was once, he would be very upset about it. There was probably even a time where he did regain his memories, only to beg Desiree to let him forget and know no more. He also avoids Walker like the plague, too mafia like... Not to mention that he never quite liked cops even when living and forced to work with them. Maybe he was actually a prankster to cops on the force- thus starting his love of pranks!
His obsession revolves around knowing others/getting in their shoes/understanding the info that being someone else creates. His restless spirit is always looking for new perspectives to gain and to understand what makes people tick.
However, he has the most horrid memory issues.. both because needing to remember info was how he died, and because he can only store so much in his noggin.. not to mention that Desiree's wish may have left side effects.. So he forgets names and faces, especially if it's someone who he's morphed as before.
I imagine his lair is just layers and layers of filing cabnets of people and ghosts he's seen and become, and the relations between everyone. He knows everyone in the zone, and could tell you any of their frequent hangouts.
Tumblr media
And finally.. Billy. I believe that perhaps when the ghost zone opened, Amorpho left it completely. He took the positions of people in Amity, switching through people happily, avoiding Danny so he could stay longer to fulfill his obsession. And then the people of Amity began to get wiser to ghost hijinks. He no longer always could keep up his charades, sometimes getting called out way too early into the game. It was much too frustrating, every single time this happened.
One day he snaps, realizing Danny is the only ghost who 'gets' to stay in the human realm.. his jealousy leads to the episode Forever Phantom. And of course, having been living as an Amity Parker, he calls him by Inviso-Bill instead of Phantom.
Tumblr media
He overall seems like a pretty cool dude, friendly when he wants to be, and probably also lives under Danny’s nose, which is just amazing, and rife with potential.
And those are my headcannons for Incognito Uncle.

Daniel Ricciardo Fanfiction
Chapter 2: Sweet Beginnings
Chapter 1
Warnings: no warnings, only fluff.
As the 4 of ya’ll landed in Perth, you were pleasantly greeted by a few of Daniel’s mates. You headed to Daniel’s farm in 2 cars. The farm was quite far away from the airport- a 2 hour car journey. All the 4 of y’all- Dan, Michael, Blake and yourself were drained and jet-lagged- desperate for good sleep. Michael, Daniel, one of Dan’s school friend and you headed in one car while Blake and another one of Dan’s friends headed out in the second car. Michael, Daniel and you sat on the back seat. Michael’s head rested on the window while you rested your head on Daniel’s shoulder. He eventually placed his head on yours too. In no time, your eyelids felt heavy and you drifted off to sleep in the car.
After almost forever the car came to a halt because you guys had finally reached Dan’s home. Home sweet home at last. Grace, Joe, Michelle, Dan’s brother-in-law and little Isaac were all there to welcome y’all in. As you headed inwards, the first thing Daniel did was kneel down and hug his nephew. You saw how tightly Dan hugged him and little Isaac reciprocated the hug with the same enthusiasm. “Uncle Danny!! i missed you sooo much!”, squeal Isaac. “Me too little fella, me too”, said Daniel emotionally as he lifted Isaac into his arms and hugged him some more. Daniel placed a kiss on Isaac’s forehead before placing him on the floor again. “It’s so good to finally meet you!” said Joe and Grace as they welcome you into their home. Everyone hugged everyone but Daniel was visibly emotional of all and he looked relieved to be back. We had decided to spend some time at Daniel’s parents’ place before heading to Daniel’s house.
The three boys immediately got comfortable in the house- Michael and Blake had been coming to Grace’ and Joe’ since their childhood. The two went to freshen up one at a time and you looked around the house. You saw all the photos that were there and spoke at great length with Joe. He was such a proud father. Daniel was so lucky to have a father like him. You knew Dan would be a great dad too. The thought of Daniel as a father gave you butterflies and you couldn’t help but blush. It was great to get to know Daniel’s parents. They were just like he had described them- maybe even sweeter and understanding :) Grace was so welcoming and asked you how you put up with Daniel sometimes and the both of ya’ll crack into a terrible laughter! The whole house suddenly felt so cheerful. Suddenly you realised you hadn’t seen Daniel around much so you go looking for him.
Walking down a long and elegant corridor you try to peek into a few rooms to check if Daniel was there. You finally found him in Isaac’s playroom. You should have guessed :) There he was playing with cars and simply admiring the innocence of his nephew. You stood at the entrance of the door just admiring the view. You didn’t want to disturb them. You stood there with your weight against the door, smiling away to glory. You might have teared up a little as well. You were brought to the current time when Isaac called you to play with him and Dan. Daniel looked up to see you and you two made eye contact. He smiled and raised a hand to guide you to sit next to him. He placed his arm around your waist as you gently sit down. Daniel rubbed the side of your arm and looked at you as you were looking at Isaac. When you saw Daniel looking at you, you asked him what had happened he simply smiled and shook his head. Was he blushing? You think he was. The both of ya’ll sit with Isaac for about an hour as he played with his toys and occasionally asked you for help or any sort of involvement. You didn’t complain because this moment right here, sitting with Daniel and his nephew felt so intimate and homely- it felt just right.
Later on that day, after everyone had freshened up, you all gathered in an outdoors seating area to eat. Dan sat next to you and Michelle sat on the other side of you. Grace sat in front of you. The vibe was absolutely amazing. It was sunny but still cool. The food was amazing. The company was outstanding and you couldn’t be more grateful to be here with everyone. You couldn’t be more grateful to be here with Daniel. You glance at Daniel who was biting into his avocado toast. He looked at you and placed his hand on your thigh. You placed a hand on his hand and soon your fingers intertwine. You whispered to him how grateful you were for this moment, to be here with everyone, and he smiled at you and kissed your forehead. Michelle saw your hands intertwined because she soon said “awww!” and winked at you and Daniel and you simply roll you eyes and laugh!
It seemed like you knew all these for years. You and Dan had been together for 4 years now and the countless FaceTime sessions with his family meant that you had gotten to know everyone quite a bit.
Isaac had left the table to go and play in the field for a while. He came back after a while complaining that he was very hungry. He walked over to your side of the table and asked if he could sit with you and ‘uncle Danny’. Both of you gushed and let him in between the both of you. He sat on your lap and rested his head on your shoulder. You couldn’t help but feel special! You looked towards Daniel who couldn’t stop staring at the both of you. Grace, who was sitting in front of you, got teary-eyed and left the table and she promised to be back in a while. You fed Isaac some bread and he happily ate. He was definitely tired after playing so much as he soon started to drift off in your arms. Before he could completely fall asleep, Michelle took him. It was just Daniel and you on the table now. Rest of the boys were in the kitchen helping out with the dishes. You and Daniel soon joined them inside.
“You two make a great couple and I couldn’t be more happier.”, Grace told Daniel. Daniel smiled and gave his mum and tight hug. He hugged Joe and said that we’ll be coming the next to day visit again. You thanked them for the lovely food and for a great time. You hugged them both. Just before leaving, Isaac came running and hugged Daniel. Daniel lifted him up and kissed him on the cheek. He promised to take him the adventure park soon. You couldn’t help but let you thoughts drift to think about when you and Daniel would have children. You knew he’d be a great dad and you also knew he couldn’t wait to become one.
After the goodbyes Daniel, Michael, Blake and you sit in the car. You were going to drop the two boys at their respective homes before heading to you me home. You smiled as you imagined all the incredible things that were going to happen that night. Daniel finally back home, finally in Perth, you felt like this was the best version of Dan you were about to see :)

Teen Wolf fanfiction recs — Derek/Stiles {Part 2}
°°°°°°
"Show Me The Way Back Home Baby" (T) by stilinskisparkles | 14,968 | In which Lydia and Jackson produce the world's cutest baby, and the pack goes crazy-- the good kind of crazy. Except for Derek, who is afraid of tiny cute babies and Stiles who plans to be the best Uncle ever. Even if Danny called dibs on Godfather.
"Say Something" (M) by anonymous | 49,724 | That first time Stiles decided it was probably wise to let sleeping werewolves lie. But he does wonder if that theory applies when the werewolf has come to his room six times. Is there some rule for this? Is he allowed to shove Derek awake at some point and ask him why the fuck he’s using Stiles’s bed as a sort of safety zone?
"light me up before i go" (E) by anonymous | 5,582 | Come late April, the sun will grow warm while the air is still cool, and there will be just enough greenery for Stiles to hide the Jeep somewhere off the beaten path in the Beacon Hills Preserve, tucked away from the world in a safe little space where he and Derek can get high.
"Hemingway Can Suck It" (T) by kurikuri | 10,054 “For those of you who just transferred into this class or simply decided that day one wasn’t important enough to attend, I’m Professor Hale. Welcome to English 346, The American Novel.” Stiles is pretty sure his mouth is hanging open right now and that his eyes are wide with shock, because holy fuck, he thinks he knows why his students transferred. Hell, if he was still an undergrad, he probably would have transferred, too.
"It seems wasted now" (T) by DaaroMoltor | 48,598 | It's been months. Months of lonely days and lonelier nights. And Stiles can't understand what he did wrong.
"gave your smile to me" by (T) Sarageek16 | 4,784 | In which Stiles is a hooker (but not really), Derek wants to feed his skinny little body, and there is soup. Not necessarily in that order.
"The Difficult Kind" 🔒 (E) by whiskey_in_tea | 18,822 | They should take a road trip. They’ll have a bro bonding experience. Stiles can work out his weird Derek-related pseudo-crush issues once and for all, get trapped in a car with the dude and his farts and realize that all of the perfect abs and thick eyebrows and secret bleeding hearts in the world aren’t enough to make up for Derek’s particular brand of crazy.
"Grin Like a Madman and Dance" (E) by jsea | 4,238 | “Stiles. We haven’t seen each other in ten years, but you somehow still managed to find yourself in the one square foot of this damn town that I happen to own. Will it blow your mind if I say that I have faith? Faith that if this,” Derek gestures at the space between them, “is meant to be, it’ll work out?”
"Misfire" (T) by unpossible | 28,800 | “The debt must be repaid,” she says, and it has the weight of a vow. The words resonate through him, ringing through his ribcage and the bones of his jaw, and Stiles loses his breath and maybe his grip on reality. “Oh shit,” Stiles says.
"Five Times the Sheriff Found Derek Hale in His Son's Bedroom" (T) by suzvoy | 3,525 | There's a pattern Sheriff Stilinski just can't ignore.
"Safety in Silence" (M) by Survivah | 66,901 | It's perfectly understandable. Even Derek wouldn't want to be Derek's soulmate.
"Putting the F-U-N in Funeral" by (T) apocryphal (10,811 | In which Derek is a bored secretary, Stiles is a baker who may or may not have ulterior motives, and there are entirely too many macaroons.
"Six Letter Word for Romance" (M) by TroubleIWant | 6,322 | Stiles definitely starts off thinking it’s fucking hilarious that Derek-sourwolf-Hale does crosswords and cares about scuffs on his furniture. He actually takes notes so he can do a full write-up later for Scott and Isaac to laugh about. But at around two or three days in, “fully functional adult” somehow becomes… not a joke. In fact, before Stiles quite knows it, the not-joke has morphed into something incredibly hot.
"You Had Me At Latte Batman" (T) by Hatteress | 2,108 | The one where Derek’s a barista who accidentally woos Stiles with latte art.
"The Road to Self-Actualization Is Littered with F-Bombs" (M) by blue_fjords | 24,811 | It's Stiles’s final Spring Break of his college career, and he's got plans to do a whole lot of nothing. But Derek has other plans for him, and before he knows it, Stiles is joining Derek to go undercover at a couples' retreat in a bid to catch a ring of thieves.
"Aftereffects" by (G) Dira Sudis | 1,473 | Stiles makes a point of keeping something with writing on it next to his bed, so that he can always be sure he's really awake as soon as he wakes up.
"Walking Into Darkness" (T) by alenie | 6,342 | Derek hears Stiles before he sees him. There's anxious, wheezy breathing coming from the next aisle over in the grocery store, accompanied by a racing heart and the smell of unwashed sneakers and hair gel. He turns the corner and Stiles is standing frozen in the dairy aisle, knuckles clenched around the metal of his shopping basket.
"First Kiss" (T) by anonymous | 1,419 | If Derek says "it’s fine" again, he’ll officially be protesting too much.
"in spite of all terror" (E) by anonymous | 17,076 | The thing was, Derek thought to himself, that he wasn't really in the mood to humor Stiles or listen to Stiles blame everything on him. Again. He already knew tonight was his fault. It was always Derek's fault.
"Make This World" (T) by wldnst | 26,337 | Stiles returns to Beacon Hills while writing his Master's thesis. The pack starts a book club. An otter pack comes to shake things up. And Derek still doesn't know what to think about Stiles after all these years.
"not what you can predict" 🔒 (T) by theyhadcookies | 3,901 | Some time between Peter biting Scott, the Kanima, Gerard Argent, and Deucalion and Jennifer almost tearing the town apart, getting kidnapped and seeing his mother again for the first time, Derek met his soul mate. He has absolutely no idea who it could be.
"Derek Watches Rom Coms (Pass It On)" (T) by anonymous | 2,450 | Derek doesn’t know how it started. Actually, that’s a lie. He knows exactly how it started, but there’s no way in hell he’s ever going to admit to that. Not that anyone knows about it anyway. It being his fondness for rom coms.
"I'll Be Your Robin" (T) by mikkimouse | 3,277 | He and Derek had formed their animosity during summer orientation, and it had only grown sharper when they'd come back for the actual semester in August and found out they were roommates. It was the worst, and Stiles hated it. It didn't help that Derek was probably the most attractive guy Stiles had ever seen. He was also an asshole, at least as much of an asshole as Stiles was.
"A Wild Heart's Desire" (T) by mikkimouse | 13,410 | If there's one thing Stiles Stilinski knows, it's that Deputy Derek Hale absolutely Does Not Like him. The only reason Derek even tolerates him is because their kids are worryingly codependent. So Stiles is understandably confused when a very feral Derek shows up in his backyard after a call gone wrong and proceeds to move in with him.
"Lost and Horny" (T) by mikkimouse | 1,246 | Derek stared at the card Stiles had given him for their first anniversary and fought the urge to roll his eyes. "I'd be lost without you. And horny. Lost and horny." Was it wrong to want a little… more from him for their first anniversary?
"According to Plans" (E) by eldee | 72,744 | Senior year is going to rule. Stiles just knows it. God, he really wants to stop fearing for his life and go on dates and have make-out and more sessions and be a normal high school student for once. This is the year it's going to happen. Really. Best year.
"Deputy Derek Hale, Alpha" (E) by eldee | 12,654 | Deputy Derek Hale has recently become an alpha, and that changes things for him. Now that he's back after a leave of absence, he's hoping to get what he and Stiles had almost-started back on track. The thing is, it seems Stiles is going through some changes of his own and Derek's not sure how he fits.
"Something's Telling Me to Leave but I Won't" (T) by starswalkbackward | 3,200 | In 2nd grade, Nicki Welch told Stiles Stilinski that his plaid shirt and Spiderman graphic tee looked stupid. He responded by looking pointedly at her stomach and saying that bloodsucking hookworms were inside about 700 million people. She cried for two hours, and Ms. Briar made him go to the quiet chair. “One day, your mouth is really going to get you into trouble!” she’d scolded with a wagging finger. Stiles contemplates those words as his dad’s new deputy hauls him into the station. He’s still totally going to blame Scott for the situation, though.
"Untitled" (T) by crimsonclad | 891 | What if, for some reason Stiles is invited to go on The Newlywed Game (or some new hipster version). And he and Derek are dating, but he figures Derek would rather get stabbed multiple times than do it, so he doesn’t even ask him. He asks Scott instead, because Scott is his bro, and it will be awesome, and probably there will be cool snacks and whatever. He mentions it to Derek, who just rolls his eyes.
"Derek Hale's No-Good, Very Bad Day" (G) by Mackem | 2,090 | Derek hides from his day.
"I'm Not Gonna Wait Until The Winter (I'm Just Gonna Wait Until The Springtime)" (M) by JenNova | 7,382 | Stiles' grin splits his face and lights up his eyes and Derek feels his heart stutter in his chest. Jesus Christ. “Any time, dude,” Stiles says. “Well. Any time within reason. Especially on school nights.” Stiles is gone with that, to sneak back into his house, and Derek's left with a realisation settling deep into his bones. When the hell did he find time to start falling for Stiles?
"Three Marks" (M) by sanam | 113,736 | Derek and Stiles learn that bonding is probably best done with ridiculous amounts of video games and maybe a little bit of time.
"Not Enough Postage" (E) by ecarian | 5,256 | Derek doesn't know how to ask for things in bed.
"Still" (T) by coppersin | 13,896 | He thinks about it sometimes, telling Stiles to go into the waiting dark, and feels guilty when he says nothing. Thinks of Stiles finally at peace, but ‘at peace’ means ‘gone’ and suddenly guilt is turning to desperation. Derek grabs Stiles instead and pushes him onto the bed with rough kisses and needy hands.
"All Is Lost Again (But I'm Not Giving In)" (M) by coppersin | 36,765 | The nightmares aren't real. They can't possibly be real. But people keep dying and Stiles is genuinely losing his mind. And he can't seem to open his mouth and just tell someone.
"Unlucky Ace" (T) by MissAnnThropic | 41,117 | Laura Hale brings her boyfriend home to meet the family, and there is something absolutely terrifying about the Hales.
"Occam's Razor" (E) by MissAnnThropic | 74,483 | When Stiles goes to sleep, he’s a junior in high school. He wakes up in a world where he’s twenty-four and married to Derek Hale.
"Forged in the Crucible" (M) by MissAnnThropic | 6,955 | Derek barked out a laugh. “If anyone’s the Jiminy Cricket of the pack, it’s Scott. Stiles… if the pack’s in danger, I don’t think there’s any limits to what he would do.” There was no doubt in Derek’s mind that there was a capacity in Stiles for dark acts in the name of saving his loved ones. A cruelty and mercilessness that Scott could never dream of having.
"Pack Wars" (M) by miss_aphelion | 158,626 | Scott liked to call it the Great Pack Divide of 2012. Derek liked to call Scott an idiot. (Or the one where Derek kidnaps Stiles to teach Scott a lesson, and ends up learning a few things himself.)
"No Search, All Rescue" (M) by Arsenic | 20,054 | Chris is upholding a treaty with another hunting family when he discovers they've been holding a pretty familiar looking wolf. Yeah, that won't do.
"Fixer Upper" (E) Arsenic | 39,169 | After the events of 5a, Stiles is estranged from Scott--and by association, the pack. Derek is off finding himself, or, at least, Germany and some other places. There's a lot of texting and post cards and then Derek comes back to find Stiles missing. Worse, nobody seems to remember Stiles existing.
"Five Times Noah Stilinski Couldn't Fix Things For His Son (And One Time He Sorta Could)" (G) by Arsenic | 3,100 | It's not that Noah wouldn't do anything for Stiles. It's just that most of the time, that's not enough.
"Those Are The Days That Bind Us" (M) by s_a_m | 52,171 | His father wasn’t stupid. He was an officer of the law, trained to look for patterns. He confronted Stiles about werewolves and they shouted and Stiles tried to explain but his father was so, so, so mad, more mad than Stiles had ever seen him, ever in all his life and then his father looked at him and said, “It’s like you’re not my son anymore.” And Stiles broke.
"Bone-White" (NR) by Coragyps | 3,985 | Part of Derek wanted to say he would heal faster under the moonlight, surrounded by green and growing things; he wasn’t too good to let his blood soak into the dirt. But Stiles was tugging at him, saying, C’mon tough guy, lean on me. Let’s get you somewhere safe. And if his boy was leaving, then Derek was too.
"Caged By Frail and Fragile Bars" (T) by publicspeaking | 16,503 | It's hard to find your place in life when you're only human and feel completely replaceable. Or, how Stiles finds out that while yes, he is completely human, he is irreplaceable.
"best case scenario" (T) by verity | 13,152 | The fourth time Stiles breaks the fridge, Dad is less sympathetic. “Stiles,” he says as Stiles holds the door steady for him to screw it back onto the chassis—there's new hardware involved this time, and not a little duct tape— “I thought this werewolf thing was going to help.” “Yeah, with the dementia,” Stiles says.
"this is a map of my heart (the landscape after cruelty)" (T) by lachambre11 | 1,014 | Derek Hale wakes up one morning, and his whole life changes.
"the shortest distance between two points (is the line from me to you)" (E) by decideophobia | 23,741 | He doesn’t even know why he’s asking. Stiles hasn’t told anybody before, hasn’t allowed himself to think about it when he left for college, and has kept it carefully out of his mind this whole time. So, he has no idea why his brain decided to pick up that topic, the one thing Stiles so cautiously maintained to avoid for years. “You kissed me,” Stiles says, surprised by how steady his voice is. “The night before I left for college. You just grabbed me and you kissed me and—I—why did you do that?”
"only fools rush in" (T) by decideophobia | 13,594 | Is it an imaginary date? / No. I met him in a coffee shop. / When? / This morning. It was love on first sight.
"Have You Tried Turning It Off and On Again?" (E) by sophisticatedyet | 8,776 | Stiles gets a wrong number call from an old man who can't install his antivirus software. He feels like doing a good deed, so he decides to walk him through it. Derek is not an old man, just a technologically incompetent twenty-six year old TA who has made enemies of the entire UCLA IT department. The helpful stranger he has just accidentally called is about to become Derek's go-to computer guy.
"when the highway takes me" (M) by paxlux | 12,765 | It happened like this. In a lab somewhere, an organism replicated and mutated. People got sick and died. There were fires. A paranoid old man shot the sheriff and Stiles almost went crazy as his dad’s eyes closed, their father-son hands squeezing Stilinski blood between their fingers. The military took Mrs. McCall because she was medical personnel and she took Scott because he’s her son. They couldn’t take Stiles. A soldier shoved him back into his driveway, said, ‘I will shoot you, sir.’
"'Til It Hurts or Bleeds or Fades" (NR) by WeAreTheCyclones | 10,731 | “For the peace and happiness of our friends, and that of Beacon Hills at large, can you please give us a warning if you two are ever headed for a nuclear fallout?” Stiles scoffs. “What are you talking about?” “The tension between you two rises with each passing year. For awhile there, it seemed to be turning into the sexy kind, but now it feels more like the murder kind.”
"Days Like This" (M) by rlnerdgirl | 18,784 | Returning to Beacon Hills is a big step for Derek. He's starting his own business, rebuilding his old family home, and enjoying the feeling of being home. When he runs into the Sheriff and finds himself invited to a Stilinski family dinner, it's not nearly as strange as he would have expected, and when Stiles starts becoming a regular part of his new life, it only feels natural.
"A Hale for the Holidays" (E) by rlnerdgirl | 38,095 | “I sent you a Christmas card that got sent back to me. Did you get a new apartment?” his dad wonders. The question is all suspicion and little anything else.
"The Taste You Leave Behind in My Mouth" (T) by monopolizeme | 4,359 | Derek looks over at Stiles, who hasn't moved from the bottom step. Because he almost expected Stiles to be the one up here on the wooden porch with him, maybe punching at his arm and grinning because although they hadn't really spoken about what they were, Derek thought, he thought that out of everyone in Beacon Hills, that Stiles would be the one to show any emotion at having him back.
"Tell Me Something Wonderful" (T) by monopolizeme | 1,597 | And Stiles had asked again, "Is this okay?" because his brain was a scattered mess and he needed to know if he was supposed to leave now or if this was okay. He needed to know if he was allowed to keep Derek, if Derek planned on keeping him in return.
"Darts of Pleasure" 🔒 (E) by wearing_tearing | 6,672 | Stiles is naked. He’s naked in a room that’s not his and in a bed that’s not his and there’s a hand lying flat against his lower stomach that’s most definitely one hundred percent absolutely not his.
"Exit strategies" (T) by Fatale | 4,431 | Stiles shivers. It’s still summer, but the temperature drops significantly at night. “Where’s your jacket?” Derek asks. He doesn’t mean to make it sound like an accusation, but that’s how it comes out. Stiles gestures at the expanse of his body. “And ruin the lines of my lovely ensemble?” “Yeah, you’ll make a lovely corpse, I’ll let the necromancer know you’ll be available soon,” Derek says.
"Constantly on the Cusp" (E) by alisvolatpropiis | 40,884 | Stiles is gay, out and proud, and a Beacon Hills deputy. Derek is a firefighter and war veteran who thinks he's straight; or, Derek and Stiles have lots of semi-public hatesex on the road to Love.
"The Truth of It" (M) alisvolatpropiis | 2,158 | Derek doesn’t remember what they were laughing about, but he does remember, with aching clarity, Stiles’ carefree, raucous laughter, his beautiful mouth brilliant and wide, eyes squeezed shut; he remembers the way his scent blossomed with warm contentment; he remembers how he knew, snapping the photo and hearing each click and whir of the camera’s tired mechanisms, that he had captured Stiles (his Stiles) as he loved him best.
"most important things" (E) by sarcasticfishes | 21,180 | At first Derek didn’t know what to do with Romy. She was this tiny, squirming, pink thing that he had no idea how to read. But she was also his niece, and the only thing he had left in the world. He thought about giving her up and going back to California, but the thought of being so close to the place where his family had once been so alive hurt him, and so did the thought of letting her go. And so, in Chicago he stayed, and the Hills were forgotten. He didn’t want to go back. And no one came looking for him anyway.
"(My Heart Told My Head) This Time No" (M) by dogeared | 4,532 | Post and beam, spruce and pine; a little house in the woods; a new start.
"Sending Out an S.O.S." (T) by fauvistfly | 6,552 | In which there are fake boyfriends, flirting, music festivals, a bit with a puppy, a cameo by Jack Falahee, and honest kissing.
"everything i made next to everything i am" (T) by Siria | 3,064 | "You don't have to prove anything to me," Derek said, and pressed a kiss to Stiles' temple, the unruly thatch of his hair. Stiles never had, even when he'd shown up on Derek's doorstep during Spring Break his first year of college, looking determined and so scared he was halfway to furious. He'd fisted his hands in Derek's shirt, said, "Look, if I'm wrong about this, don't punch me, okay? Okay," and kissed Derek. He hadn't been wrong.
"You Are The Reason" (T) by lazulisong | 4,514 | Logically Derek's not directly responsible for some idiot buttwipe waking up one morning and deciding they ought to summon a lich, but logic, as Stiles is always telling him, is not exactly Derek's strong point.
"red bright and bloody" (G) by billtheradish | 5,798 | Red things, bright things, prey with the blood still fresh on the fur; that was a proper courting-gift.
"Dating Rules" (M) by officerstilinskihale | 4,136 | Derek and Stiles were arguing about food, for crying out loud. And the Sheriff assumed 'the puppies' was referring to Derek's betas, because Stiles could be a bit of a smartass that way. If that wasn't a domestic dispute, he didn't know what was.
"Look The Other Way" 🔒 (T) by saintsideways | 3,692 | After the alphas, when parts of the town are smoking ruins that Derek stands at the edge of sometimes, scuffing soot into fissures in the asphalt and wondering if maybe he should have made- Anyway. They’re gone. There was a price.
"Starting at the End" 🔒 (M) by coffeeinallcaps | 2,400 | “I could move to college with you.” Stiles smiles and says, “Yeah?” They’ve been more or less dating for a little over two years. Stiles keeps saying how much he hates sleeping alone these days; Derek feels jittery and uncomfortable whenever Stiles isn’t around. It seems like a good idea.
"There's a howling that stays beneath my skin" (E) by LunaCanisLupus_22 | 32,495 | Derek's obligatory vacation fic in South America after he left Beacon Hills (for good?)
"For Lack of a Better Name" (E) by Nanoochka | 68,464 | As real problems go, Stiles's rate pretty low. To date, he is not and has never been a homicidal werelizard; he scored 2190 on the SATs; he does not spend as much time plucking his eyebrows in the morning as some of the werewolves he knows. On the other hand, he’s going to die a freaking virgin. Well, Stiles is going to change that before he starts college in September or die trying, and he's thinking Derek might be just the ticket.
"Friends of Early Theory" (E) by Nanoochka | 23,934 | In which Derek is a gruff, struggling executive for his family's sprawling, wealthy company in New York, and Stiles is his quirky, offbeat intern who brings him cold coffee each morning and wears stupid T-shirts to work and generally succeeds at being a thousand times more charming than Derek could ever hope to be.
"Fall" (E) by sociallyinept | 8,414 | Fall is his least favourite time of the year. It reminds him of being young and stupid. Craving the branding touch of a woman who murdered his family without a second thought and destroyed a lot more than he’d willingly given her.
"Easy Trouble" (M) by Survivah | 55,953 | Derek + Stiles + fairies = love spell.
"Where The Inevitable Isn't" (M) by Survivah | 41,260 | Stiles has a magical thingamajig that's supposed to get him out of danger. Trouble is, it took him really, really far out of danger. Like, to the point where he isn't in the same universe anymore.
"The Epic Tale of the Jorts and Joseph The Turkey" (T) by WhoNatural | 4,116 | The cherry on top of the crap sundae that is Derek's life is being sentenced to twenty-four hours community service for a few measly parking tickets. Whatever, at least the guy yelling at leftover take-out is kind of hot.
"Why don't you say so?" (T) by anonymous | 8,079 | Talia Hale has a plan. Derek will go to the Winter Formal and he will ask the Stilinski boy to dance, and they will finally get their heads out of their asses and her son will stop moping around the house in his underwear.
"I Totally Planned on the Walk of Shame" (E) by Sugakane_01 | 14,960 | Stiles took a deep breath, sent up a prayer, and stepped into line at Howl, the most underground of underground nightclubs that Beacon Hills had to offer. Not that Beacon Hills had any other underground nightclubs but still, Stiles was there, ready to unleash his inner beast and walk on the wild side.
"Somebody That I Used to Know" 🔒 (M) by PercyByssheShelley | 10,379 | Stiles and Derek have been together for months. The trouble is, they weren't yesterday.
"untitled" (G) by halekungsourwolf | 2,910 | Stiles and Derek become magically bonded and can't leave each other's personal space until it wears off.
"Waiting" (T) by isthatbloodonhisshirt | 81,018 | Stiles is chosen as this year's caretaker of the "beast" —the creature locked in the basement of the burned out shell of the old Hale house.
"UST (An Unfortunate Series of Tropes)" (E) by ureshiiichigo | 54,259 | Stiles thought he and Derek were finally getting to be bros, and then Deaton had to go and ruin everything with his stupid spell.
"Fray" (E) by Nahara | 33,601 | Erica and Boyd are still missing; Scott is an inabsentia best friend; Stiles is rediscovering himself; and the alpha pack is lurking out of sight. But a wet and mostly boring summer is just about to get very interesting indeed, and whether Stiles likes it or not, he is at the heart of it.
"Advanced Vocabulary" (E) by anonymous | 4,435 | SATs mean college and college means away and Derek tries not to think about that aspect of Stiles’ competence and intelligence, the part where Stiles is too good for Beacon Hills, the part where he’s a smart enough boy to leave when he should, to never come back.
"stuck in reverse" (E) by crazyassmurdererwall | 65,656 | Look, Derek is the worst. Everyone knows that. Their fearless leader is a total and complete failwolf. Which means the rest of them? Are kind of the worst too. They’re a ramshackle, slap dashed, sorry excuse for a pack that’s about a half second away from getting one of them killed. And this is a problem, because Stiles would really like to survive high school. Thanks. Still, nobody deserves what Derek has gone through. Nobody. And it’s about time somebody told him that.
"This is Ridiculous" (E) by zosofi | 35,818 | There's a unicorn in Beacon Hills. A fricken' unicorn. In fricken' Beacon Hills, California. And it turns out that unicorns aren't drawn towards virgins in a happy-go-lucky let-me-lay-my-not-at-all-metaphorical-horn-in-your-lap way. No. They kill them. And guess who's the only virgin idiotic enough to get sucked into the Beacon Hills supernatural scene? Stiles, that's who.
"Burnt Marshmallow" (T) by Cuba_Endeavour | 36,891 | Stiles & his dad endure a familiar health scare. Is it the dementia for real this time, another misdiagnosis, or just the after effects of Stiles' accident in the garage?
"Little pitchers have big ears!" (G) by wanderseeing | 1,474 | When Scott asked him last night if Stiles could stay at Derek’s house while the rest of the pack went off to find the feral werefox that bit his best friend, Derek took one look at the tiny animal cradled in Scott’s arms and thought: ‘That’s cute.’ And then, because he’s a moron, he also opened his mouth and said: “Okay.”
"Camaro '68" (E) by ZainClaw | 17,709 | In which Stiles is a hitchhiker and Derek a runaway whose paths cross at a gas station in the California desert.
"It's a Cruel World, but It's Cool" (E) by loserchildhotpants | 7,957 | Post-Nogitsune, Scott wants the pack to go camping as a team building/group healing thing.
"Wolves in the Timber" (T) by adeepeningdig | 17,217 | Stiles is 28 and now a deputy of Beacon Hills when Derek returns, caught stuck as a wolf after escaping a traumatic situation.
"In This World or the Next" (T) by Lissadiane | 20,989 | Derek wakes up to the smell of frying bacon and brewing coffee on an ordinary morning in his ordinary life, but he can't help but shake the feeling that he's forgotten something important. It probably has to do with the three wishes he'd been granted by the fae after saving the life of their fairy prince, and possibly also the sheriff's missing son.
"Wood and Nails" (M) by rabbitxheart | 50,186 | When things calm down in Beacon Hills, all the things Derek hasn't dealt with come back with a vengeance.
"Celestial Navigation" (M) by alocalband | 12,492 | A year after the death of his sister, while struggling with social anxiety and writer's block, Derek decides to start over somewhere new.
"It’s Not Pretend When It’s Real" (T) by isthatbloodonhisshirt | 32,742 | "You realize that you are now going to have to pretend to date Derek, right?" Lydia says. Stiles rolled his eyes. “Oh no, what a hardship. That sucks, boo hoo.” He motioned Derek emphatically. “He’s like, my best friend.”
"Start Small, Like Oak Trees" (M) by SmallBirds | 24,237 | The months following Allison's death have passed Stiles by in a haze of monotony. He sleepwalks through days that seem to lose their color, an unwilling passenger in a body he no longer trusts. Eventually, he thinks, he'll just fade away. He isn't sure anyone would notice. Then, during a spur of the moment grocery run, he stumbles upon Derek Hale attempting to console a lost child, and for the first time in recent memory the world doesn't seem so awful.
"Real life isn't a movie (life doesn't make narrative sense)" (M) by dearericbittle | 11,586 | Somehow accidentally insulting a hot guy in a coffee shop leads to pretending to be his boyfriend in front of a house full of werewolves. Stiles Stilinski is living his best life and making the most of his Hallmark movie moment.
"With Delayed Expression" (M) by Idday | 10,397 | "I have… well… she said that she thinks that I maybe have… PTSD?” The line goes so dead that Derek almost thinks Stiles hung up on him. He waits eight very quiet seconds, and says softly, “Stiles?” “I’m sorry, what?” Stiles says, breath whooshing back over the phone line.
"In Cups of Coffee" (M) by Idday | 8,159 | Stiles breaks up with Derek on a Tuesday. It's the hardest thing he's ever had to do, and he wants to get it done as soon as possible so he can go burrow into his self-hatred and stay there.
"Like A Ship, I Could Not Reach Her Shore" 🔒 (T) by Lapin | 4,008 | Derek thinks on Stiles, and Beacon Hills, and his failures as an Alpha. He thinks about blonde hair, and a smirk, and laughter. He thinks about broken bones, and her hair matted and dirty. Even in mourning, he still needs to save Scott’s dumb ass and kill monsters. There must be something in the water here in Beacon Hills.

The train is about to leave. Sirius and Percy finish their goodbyes and hop on the train, both searching for an empty compartment.
“Percy, here,” says the boy, opening one. The girl walks closer but soon realizes it’s not exactly empty.
“Hi,” Sirius says, “can we sit here? All the others are taken...”
“Sure.”
Both kids sit in front of the other boys.
“I’m James, James Potter,” says the kid in glasses.
“I’m Remus Lupin,” The boy in the middle waves awkwardly, he has a small scar on the bridge of his nose.
“I’m Matthew,” A boy with chestnut hair and clear blue eyes smiles at them, he’s seated at the opposite corner. Persephone can’t help but think that he’s really sweet-looking. Very cute.
“I’m Sirius Black, and this is Percy,” Sirius responds, the girl smiles politely. She looks around and feels a bit awkward being surrounded by a bunch of boys.
“Is your name really Percy?” asks James. She laughs and shakes her head.
“It’s short for Persephone.”
“Cool,” He gives her a lopsided grin.
For the next five minutes the group divides into tiny conversations, James and Sirius animatedly talk about what they’d do at school, Sirius can’t help but get excited about not being under the gaze of his mum and James has tons of fun ideas.
Meanwhile, Persephone, Remus and Matthew share the joy of being able to learn everything that the books are promising. They couldn’t wait to start the school year.
Suddenly the compartment door opens at once and a little girl with thick, auburn hair steps in.
“I know you!” She exclaims, looking directly at Matthew. “You’re Albus Dumbledore’s son!”
The group looks at her in surprise, staying deadly silent.
“Er...” Matthew blushes lightly, “he’s not my father, he’s my uncle… uh, nice to meet you?”
Persephone nudges Sirius side and whispers excitedly. “You think he could keep us away from detention?”
“You’re already assuming we’ll get in trouble?” He grins.
“Oh, please, I know you’re thinking the same,” She responds.
“Sorry, I knew you’d be here and I was excited to meet you, your family is a legend!” The new girl looks around. “Oh, right. I’m Emily Sultens, and you are..?”
“James Potter, nice to meet you,” The boy shakes her hand and then moves the trunk from the seat in front of him so she can join them.
“I’m Remus.”
“Sirius,” The boy waves lazily.
“Hi,” The girl stares at Emily curiously. “I’m Percy.”
“I’m Matt— but I guess you knew that already…”
“Yes,” Emily giggles, “the Prophet mentions you all the time.”
“Of course they do!” James exclaims, “He’s the son of the greatest wizard that’s ever existed! Aberforth Dumbledore: the guy that turns people into goats…”
“Actually,” Remus spoke up, “that title belongs to Merlin. Uhm, the one about the greatest wizard, not the goats.”
“Yes!” Sirius threw a fist in the air, “you’ll be the witty one of our group.”
The boy hugs Remus so fast he accidentally drops his books. Matt picks them and places them on top of a trunk.
“Don’t be clingy, Sirius!” Percy scolds.
“Don’t be jealous, Percy, I’m just being friendly,” He teases.
“You’re being annoying,” She rolls her eyes. “Stop it.”
“Thanks, Percy,” Remus grunted, pushing Sirius away. “Thanks, Matt.”
“No problem,” Matthew smiles.
Emily sits comfortably next to Percy and quickly starts talking to her.
“You guys knew each other?” She asks.
“No, I only knew this idiot,” Percy kicks Sirius’ leg softly. “Are you a first-year too?”
“Yes! I’m excited, my dad told me thousands of cool stories about Hogwarts…”
“What house do you want to be sorted in?”
“Oh, I don’t know much about the houses,” Emily tilts her head.
“It’s really simple, you know there are four houses?” Emily nods, Percy continues. “Well, it’s really common to be sorted into the same house as your family, I’m the youngest, and all my siblings had been in Slytherin, so it’s very likely that I’ll be one as well—”
“Slytherin?”James makes a face of disgust. “What’s your Lastname?”
Percy frowns a bit. “Singh.”
James’ face changes into a more tense expression. “Oh… okay.”
“What’s wrong with my name?” She questions.
“Nothing! Nothing…” Then he adds in a not-so-discrete whisper, “apart from the fact that they’re all ugly snakes.”
Percy gasps loudly, the boys stare at them not knowing what to answer while Emily appears to be slightly confused. Sirius is ready to defend his friend, but Matthew intervenes faster.
“I don’t think Slytherins are bad,” He says. “I assume your whole family was in Gryffindor, right James?”
The boy puffs out his chest defiantly. “Yeah, so?”
“So that explains why you’re so judgy,” Emily says brightly, happy to be able to participate.
“I was just saying!”
The conversation is interrupted by a girl with bright, red hair and a quiet boy, both occupying the last seats available in the compartment. James insists on continuing the argument and the new boy (who introduced himself as Severus) argues back in support of Slytherin.
They’re both really annoying, the three girls share a look of exasperation and the redhead (who said her name was Lily) decides to put a stop to it.
“This is really stupid, neither of you even know if you’ll be sorted into those houses! You could be Ravenclaws for all you know!”
“No way, I’m obviously Gryffindor!” James argues. “Only brainys are sorted into Ravenclaw...”
“Okay then, you’re obviously not a Ravenclaw,” Lily remarks.
“Exactly!” James blushes when he realizes his mistake. “No, wait—”
“You have an ill opinion of every house except for Gryffindor,” Emily points out.
“Because Gryffindor is the best house!”
“Why are you arguing about it with her anyway? She’s a muggle-born,” Sirius states matter-of-factly. “She doesn’t know what she’s saying.”
Lily loses all colour as she glares at the dark-haired boy.
“You know what? I won’t waste my time arguing with spoiled prats. Let’s go, Severus,” Lily stands up, Emily and Percy share a look of shock and amusement, both girls immediately knowing they have to befriend this girl.
“See you, Snivellus!” Sirius says out loud as the pair leave the room. Persephone punches his arm. “Ouch! What was that for?”
“You idiot,” She scowls.

September 1973
“I’m telling you guys, this is the year, I can feel it.”
“Sure thing, Matty,” James snorts. “I don’t understand why is it so hard for you, Emily spends half of her time with us and you still get all anxious around her…”
“I could ask you the same about Lily,” Remus mentions casually.
“It’s just that she’s always talking with the girls and I can’t ever speak to her without the others watching me!” Matthew huffs. “But I’ve had enough, this year is the year Emily and I become best friends.”
“But you don’t want to be just her friend,” Sirius smirks. “You want to date her.”
“I have to start somewhere…” He mumbles.
“Here’s a different idea,” Sirius puts an arm around his shoulders and pulls him in for a hug, he continues in a whisper, “why don’t you try and flirt with other girls to see if she gets jealous?”
“That’s a stupid idea,” Remus responds.
“You’re stupid,” Sirius frowns. “And I was talking to Matthew. What do you say, Matt?”
The young Dumbledore looks at the boy and shrugs.
“Dunno, I don’t want to give her the wrong impression…”
“She already has the wrong impression,” James rolls his eyes. “She thinks you don’t like her!”
“How d’you know?”
“I heard her talking with Percy the other day while we were on our way to potions, she thinks you can’t stand her and that’s why you always hide from her.”
“No!” Matthew’s eyes widened. “I’m an idiot!”
“Listen to me, Matt,” Sirius insists, squeezing his shoulders. “If you flirt with others then you’ll be more interesting to her, if not, well, you’ll have a bunch of girls chasing you around, it’s a win-win!”
“And how’s that working for you?” Remus questions.
“What do you mean?” Sirius frowns.
“Uh— oh, nevermind,” The boy retorts, hiding behind the book he’s currently reading.
“Well,” Matthew shifts on his seat. “It’s not a terrible idea, is it?”
James shrugs silently, shoving half a sandwich in his mouth.  “Can’ be ‘at ‘ard.”
Matthew rolls his eyes, but he’s finally made a decision.
“I’ll do it.”
“Cool,” Sirius smirks.
“How should I start?”
“I have no idea, mate,” Sirius replies, patting his back harshly. “Good luck!”
Tumblr media
“Girls,” Emily sat down between them, looking over her shoulder at the group of boys a few feet behind. “Is it me, or is Matthew Dumbledore acting really weird lately?”
“Weird how?” Percy asked.
“I saw him flirt with a fifth-year prefect the other day,” Emily said, her brows furrowed. “He actually convinced her not to send him to detention!”
“I haven’t seen much of him lately,” Lily shrugged. “I’ve been trying to stay away from that lot this year, Potter is driving me crazy—”
“Here we go again...” Percy fell back on the grass with a heavy sigh, Lily ignored her.
“He stole my bag the other day! I had to chase him around! He’s such a child, I don’t understand how Matthew and Remus are his friends...”
“Matthew’s no saint either,” Emily said. “He helped them escape from McGonagall, apparently now he loves pranks as much as Sirius and James…”
“Well, we always knew there had to be a reason why they were such good friends,” Percy replied sitting up a bit.
“...And I saw him sneak a rat’s tail in Dorcas’ drink last Monday, the poor thing screamed so loud!” Lily continued without really listening to the girls.
“I used to think he didn’t like me because I’m usually the one who pranks others with Sirius and James,” Emily was also talking to herself at this point. “I thought he considered me childish and that was why he didn’t want anything to do with me…”
“Mmhmm,” Percy grabbed her hat and covered her face with it, deciding to take a short nap while her two friends continued their rambling.
“—Don’t even get me started on how he treats Severus! He’s always trying to humiliate him and he thinks he’s being funny while doing so—”
“Severus is an idiot most of the time, though,” Emily retorted, briefly coming back to the present. “Even Remus can’t stand him.”
“They never offer him the chance to be better!” Lily argued. “He’s a really sweet boy once you get to meet him, you know?”
“Matthew’s a sweet boy, right? Did I had the wrong impression all this time? Is that why he hates me? I dunno, I don’t find him as fun to be around as I used to...”
“Dear Merlin!” Percy sat up in exasperation. “Emily, if you’re so eager to get to know him better just go and talk, you never shut up anyway— Lily, I’m seriously considering to arrange a date so you and James can shut up about each other.”
Both girls stared at her in shock, Emily blushed in embarrassment while Lily got red with anger.
“I hate James Potter!” She rummaged through her bag and pulled out her charms book. “Look at what he did to my book! He’s an animal!”
“I don’t need to know Matthew better, he’s clearly becoming Sirius and James’ triplet, that’s all I need to know,” Emily huffed.
“Very well,” Percy rolls her eyes. “Whatever you say — Can we talk about something else now?”
“Okay,” Emily mumbles. “About what?”
“I have no idea,” Percy mutters.
“Afternoon, girls,” Matthew approaches blithely, Percy lets out the faintest groan. “Is this books yours? I found it outside Slughorn’s classroom and I’ve been trying to find its owner…”
“No,” Percy replies without even looking at it.
“I don’t think so,” Matthew seems to have his full attention on her and Emily honestly can’t look away. “Are you sure it doesn’t have any initials on it? No names?”
“No... It looks rather new, that’s why I’m trying to return it, I don’t think the student would like to buy twice the same thing?”
This is the longest he’s ever talked to her without stammering, Emily takes it as a good sign. Maybe he doesn’t hate her after all, perhaps he’s just too much like he’s father, a bit shy, maybe even a bit grumpy…
“I could help you if you want?”
“W-What?” Matthew’s eyes widened, he wasn’t expecting that. He looks down to the book in his hand and swears internally. If she sees the book is James’ then she’ll think he’s an idiot. He can’t let her do that!
“Matt!” One of his classmates from Ancient Runes walks up to him, a black girl with beautiful eyes. “Hi! I was on my way to get something to eat, want to join me?”
Matthew immediately adopts his charming smile. He fixes his tie and nods.
“Sure thing!” He looks back at Emily and nods. “Maybe we can look around later?”
Emily doesn’t know why she’s so frustrated, she wanted to spend time with him. She’s been trying to be his friend for two years and every time she gets close something always happens! It’s exasperating.
Matthew leaves her there and both, Percy and Lily stare at her with knowing grins. She refuses to meet their gazes.
Tumblr media
“You’re such an idiot, Sirius, why did you tell Matthew to flirt around?” Percy slaps the back of his head. “Emily’s getting so many mixed signals!”
“I thought it would catch her eye!” He grunts, rubbing his neck. “Merlin, you have a heavy hand…”
“You deserve that for being such a fool, why does your solution always involve flirting with other people?” She rolls her eyes.
“It was the first thing that came to mind!”
“It’s the only thing you do lately,” She grumbled.
“I think you’re overreacting. It’s not a big deal, not like you fancy her, do you?” He raises a brow, Percy hits him again.
“I don’t like her, but I don’t think it’s fair to play with other people’s feelings,” She sighs and closes her eyes in distress. “Anyway, now we have to fix it! This is the plan— I’ll sit with you during charms. That way Lily and Emily will have an empty seat and Matthew won’t have another choice but to sit with them!”
 “He’s a coward, he won’t do it.”
“A galleon says he will,” Remus adds.
“Deal,” reply Sirius.
Tumblr media
When Emily walks into the classroom she finds the strangest scene in front of her.
Percy is seated next to James, Remus and Sirius, who looks strangely grumpy. Across the room, Lily, Jenna and Matthew are sharing a table, and the only free spot is right next to the boy.
Unsure of what’s happening, Emily sits down next to the young Dumbledore trying to look as casual as possible. She smiles at him and Matthew smiles back. She really likes his smile.
“Did you find the owner?”
“What — Oh, yeah!” He chuckles. “It was one of James’ pranks— I guess he ran out of smart ideas. You look pretty today.”
“Oh,” Emily’s voice comes out slightly high-pitched. “You look pretty too. I mean— Handsome. Yes. Well pretty is also acceptable, isn’t it? I’ve never understood why boys don’t like to be called pretty—”
“You can call me pretty,” He says immediately, behind him Lily bursts into a fit of silent giggles. “I mean, whatever you prefer, I don’t mind. I don’t hate you —”
“You don’t?” She asks in relief. “That’s great! Does that mean we can be friends?”
“Let’s be best friends!”
“I would love that!”
“Our first visit to Hogsmeade is next week,” He continues, encouraged by her excitement. “Would you like to have a butterbeer with me then?”
“Yes!”
Sirius, Remus, James and Percy stare at them in incredulity.
“Dear Merlin, I think we’ve created a monster,” Sirius gulps. “Look at how fast their mouths move!”
“Lily’s going to pee her pants if she doesn’t calm herself,” Percy grins.
“I can’t believe I just lost a galleon!” James scoffs.
“I can’t believe it took them almost three whole years to start talking,” Remus snorted. “You two cough up, you owe me a galleon each.”

November 1976
“I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m dying alone.”
A general groan surrounds James when his friends react to his comment.
“Don’t start this again,” Sirius sighs tiredly. “Being single is the best! Why’re you crying about it?”
“What would you know about being single? You’re practically married to Persephone!” James scoffs.
Sirius guffaws. “What? That’s not true! Who’s Persephone? I don’t know her.”
The dark-haired boy changes his position on the couch awkwardly, next to him Matthew laughs.
“Don’t listen to him, being in love isn’t so bad, you know?”
“Please, Matt, tell me your secrets,” James implores dramatically.
“What secrets?” Matthew snorts. “Mate, I haven’t the faintest.”
“What do you mean you haven’t? You’ve been with Mily for two years!”
“Doesn’t mean I know what I’m doing…”
“Sorry, Prongs,” Remus says in amusement. “Looks like you’re on your own.”
“That’s it then, I’m destined to die as a spinster with twenty cats,” He turns to Sirius. “I’ll have to live in your basement.”
“What?” Sirius exclaims. “You’re rich! I thought you were the one who was going to let me live in his basement!”
“I’m not rich, my parents are!” James scoffs. “They’ll kick me out by the time I turn thirty. Mark my words, Sirius, I’ll die alone.”
“C’mon, have faith, James!” Matthew insists. “Listen, why don’t you ask her to join you for a butterbeer next weekend? The last visit to Hogsmeade before our Christmas break, maybe the holiday’s spirit might convince her to be nicer with you?”
“Right, because six years of deep loathing are that easy to forget,” Remus teases.
“I was just saying,” Matthew shrugs. “Emily reckons Lily is open to try new things…”
“That’s only when it’s her or Percy asking her to try them,” Sirius retorts.
“That’s it!” James claps once in excitement. “Let’s convince Percy to help us! Let’s organize a double date! You ask Percy —”
“Not so fast,” Sirius frowns. “Why would I ask Percy on a date? That’s weird, Lily would know right away what we’re doing.”
James snorted. “No, she wouldn’t.”
“How are you so sure?”
“You’re so up Percy’s arse she won’t think it’s weird if you ask her out. I bet the girls have been expecting this for ages.”
“No, I’m not,” He scoffs, then hesitates. “Am… am I?”
He looks around at the rest of the boys. A general mumble of agreement spreads around them.
“I wouldn’t say it like that,” Matthew starts politely. “It’s just that you appreciate her a lot.”
“Well, she’s my best friend!”
“Cheesy,” James fakes a cough.
Sirius punches his arm and raises his voice slightly.
“Stop it, you prat!”
“Be honest, Sirius,” Remus leans over. “You’ve never considered dating her? Not even once?”
“No?” He pushes his hair back and shrugs tensely. “Obviously.”
Matthew and James share a look.
“You definitely dream about dating her,” James declares.
“James...” Matthew warns him.
“We’ve heard you mumbling her name when you sleep!”
“James,” Matt insists.
“Can I go with you on the honeymoon? I promise to be quiet —”
Sirius stands up abruptly while talking.
“No! You hear me? I won’t do it!”
Tumblr media
“I can’t believe I’m doing this.”
Sirius stands in the middle of the snowy path with James anxiously waiting next to him. He’s standing on his tiptoes waiting to catch a glimpse of Lily’s figure, but he hasn’t succeeded yet.
“Oh, please,” James smirks. “You’ll thank me later. Have you thought of any destination for the romantic trip in which you’ll take your fiance?”
“We’re not taking you on our honeymoon!”
“We?” James grins.
“I— Oh, sod off,” Sirius looks ahead and whimpers. “They’re here.”
Percy waves at them happily, she’s got her arm locked around Lily’s, who looks at James as if he were her personal hell.
“Afternoon, girls,” James greets them cheerily. “You look beautiful, Lily.”
Lily stares at him and scowls, making a brief throaty sound to let him know she heard his compliment.
“Percy,” Sirius squints. “Are you wearing makeup?”
She stammers her reply. “Y-Yes? Is it too much? I’m not used to wearing this stuff, I —”
“You look good,” Sirius replies innocently. “You look pretty — Er, I mean, it looks nice.”
“Oh,” Percy blinks. “Thank you.”
Lily and James stare at them with matching grins, when the pair look at each other James beams, but Lily’s smile vanishes completely.
“What are we waiting for, then?” She asks grumpily. “Let’s go, I’m freezing.”
The redhead walks past the boys firmly and James follows her right away like a lost puppy. Sirius and Percy look at each other without knowing what to do now.
“We should go too, before Lily kills him,” Sirius offers.
“Yeah! You’re right, yes…”
Both teenagers quickly catch up with their friends, ready to forget whatever happened five seconds ago.
Tumblr media
“I can’t believe you got me into this, why me?” Lily whines as she watches Persephone wash her hands.
“Give poor James a chance, Lily,” Percy smiles. “He’s trying so hard to behave!”
“He’s an idiot,” Lily rolls her eyes. “Listen, I’m here because you were clearly dying to go on a date with Sirius, but don’t ask me to flirt with James, I can’t do it.”
Percy grimaces. “I wasn’t dying to date Sirius! I — I just couldn’t bring myself to reject him, it was unexpected, you know? I didn’t know he wanted this...”
It’s a lie, of course. Percy knows this date was James’ idea, but she can’t tell Lily that!
Although she does wonder why James asked Sirius and her instead of Matthew and Emily, maybe they had to use the excuse of ‘first dates are always awkward so we had to bring our friends along’ and Gryffindor’s golden couple wouldn’t have been helpful considering they would’ve spent the whole day snogging in front of their mates.
In that case, it made sense it was her and Sirius, they had to pretend this was their first date and not James and Lily’s. Mostly because Lily didn’t even want to be there in the first place.
When the girls went back to their seats Percy found a piece of chocolate cake waiting for her on the table.
“Hey, I didn’t order this,” She says, eyeing the food with interest.
“I did,” replies Sirius casually. “I know it’s your favourite, and I know you get all whiny when you get hungry so I took the liberty to buy you lunch.”
Percy’s chest tightens with affection, she beams at him but briefly catches Lily’s taunting smile and quickly composes herself.
“That’s nice,” Percy looks around the table, “you guys want anything?”
“I’m not hungry,” James replies happily, he only has eyes for Lily. “What about you, Evans, you want anything? My treat!”
Lily’s face shows a hint of a smile, but she quickly covers it by looking away.
“No thank you, I can pay for my own stuff.”
James laughs lightheartedly. “What are you saying? Everyone knows girls don’t pay on the first date!”
Lily pales at the statement.
“That’s ridiculous! Don’t try to mess with me today, James, I’m not in the mood.”
“I’m just trying to be a gentleman!” James frowns. “Why do you always assume I’m trying to upset you?”
“Because everything is always a big joke to you,” Lily huffs. “I’m sorry, but until you grow up I won’t be able to treat you as anything more than a child.”
James stares at her in surprise, then his brows furrow and his eyes turn cold. It’s not a normal look on him, but Sirius has seen him like this before, whenever Snape insults him.
“Fine,” James replies shortly. “I get it — You don’t like me. Brilliant. Why didn’t you say so instead of coming all this way only to insult me?”
“I didn’t want to come! I’m here because Percy asked me to!”
James’ cheeks flush red.
“Well I’m sorry you got forced to spend your last weekend before Christmas with me! You’re free to go, I’m leaving,” James puts a galleon on the table and stands up, hastily pushing the chair away.
“Mate,” Sirius starts, but James raises a hand to silence him.
“It’s okay, Sirius,” He smiles at him, but it’s small, and it looks tired. “You can stay if you want, I think… I think I need to be alone.”
Lily watches him leave in shock. Percy speaks to her softly.
“Lily?”
Her friend lowers her head, and to her surprise, Percy watches as Lily blinks back a few tears.
“I’ll see you at dinner...”
She stands up as well, leaving the establishment. Percy and Sirius stare at each other.
“Well,” Percy starts. “That was awful.”
“Tell me about it,” Sirius leans back on his chair and runs a hand over his face. “I won’t hear the end of it tonight… James is going to be devastated! And of course, it’ll be my fault, the boys will find a way to blame this on me...”
“I know what you mean,” Percy rolls her eyes. “I don’t know why they always choose me to do this stuff, I’m the one who’s single and not in love! Emily’s the one who’s always talking about Matthew, Lily just needs to vent about her feelings for James and sometimes even Jenna starts acting all lovey when Marlene is near…”
“Matthew’s the same, always with that stupid smile and ogling at Emily, annoying as hell,” Sirius scoffs. “I wish we could go back to being kids when neither of them was drooling over each other…”
The pair delved into different topics as the hours went by, it was just the two of them, but it was the first time in a long while that they truly felt comfortable and at ease. Neither of them was spotted until Sirius entered the boys’ dormitory.
“Hey, you’re back,” Matthew says from his bed. “Where were you? James came back hours ago and he looked like he wanted to set himself on fire…”
“Oh — hi!” Sirius gives a start and quickly hides his face, turning his back to the boy. “I’m okay, I’m not the one who had a bad date — Nor a good date! I didn’t have a date.”
“Okay?” Matthew closes his book. “That’s not what I asked, though.”
“I was around,” Sirius shrugs. “How’s James, then? Where is he?”
“Think he’s gone to the secret passageway behind the old witch to cry his eyes out, people will probably think it’s a very loud ghost or something,” Remus replies from his own bed. “At least that’s what he said, dunno, he wasn’t making sense…”
“The date went bad, that’s what I understood,” Matthew says grimly. “What happened, Sirius?”
“I’m not sure,” He stands there trying to remember, “We were talking, and James wasn’t even acting that childish in my opinion, but Lily was determined to argue with him — in the end, I think James lost his patience and left.”
“He willingly walked away from Lily Evans?” Remus raises a brow. “Does this mean he’s moving on?”
“I wouldn’t call ‘hiding in the hidden passageway to cry’ moving on, would you?” Sirius snorts. “But maybe he will afterwards, who knows…”
“So Lily just stayed with you the whole time?”
“Oh no, she left as well, and she even cried a bit,” His smile fell. “It went downhill very quickly.”
“What did Persephone and you did afterwards, then? Because none of us saw you around?”
Sirius tenses and starts to undress without looking at any of them
“We just talked, I ordered food and we didn’t want to waste it…”
Remus and Matthew chuckle, Sirius looks over his shoulder at them.
“What’s so funny?”
“Nothing,” Remus smirks. “How was the food?”
“Good, I guess?” He frowns.
“Did you have fun?”
“Well, it’s Percy. I always have fun.”
Matthew laughs louder and Sirius grabs a pillow and throws it at him.
“What are you laughing at?”
“You had a date!”
“No!” He protests. “It wasn’t a real date! James forced us to go —”
“And you stayed after he and Lily left,” Remus continued. “Just the two of you.”
“Did you share the food?” Matthew smirks.
“Well, I only ordered her food so what else were we supposed to do?”
“You could’ve ordered a second plate?” Matthew offers with contained laughter.
“Sod off, you two!” Sirius groans. “It wasn’t a date, okay? We just talked and then — then we came back! Nothing happened!”
“That’s a bit rude,” Remus pouts mockingly. “You gave her food, least she could’ve done was giving you a hug!”
“Not even a goodnight kiss?”
“We didn’t kiss!” Sirius blushed uncontrollably, if it weren’t for the dim illumination of the room, the other two would’ve noticed right away. “Just leave it, will you? I’m going to look for James, if we don’t bring him back he’ll spend the whole night outside...”
“Alright, no need to be so moody,” Matthew replies. “We’re just teasing, you know we don’t actually believe you and Percy want to date…”
Sirius freezes at that. “You don’t?”
“Nah,” Remus shrugs. “Percy’s smarter than that.”
The boy looks even more insulted at that statement.
Tumblr media
The next morning a battered-looking James is having breakfast when Lily Evans approaches carefully. She clears her throat and James looks at her sideways.
“I’m really not in the mood today, Evans, just let me eat in peace…”
“I don’t want to fight,” She replies a bit aggressively. “I mean — I came here to say I’m sorry.”
Remus, Matthew, and James all stop and stare at her. Behind her, Emily, Marlene and Jenna all stand in a circle of unity, encouraging Lily to continue.
“What I said yesterday was uncalled for and rude,” She takes a deep breath. “You were trying to be friendly and I didn’t give you a chance — Although you have to admit that given your prior attempts to be ‘friendly’ I had the right to be hesitant about you—”
Emily nudges her side and Lily stops abruptly, blushing a little. James takes the opportunity to speak.
“I want to fix all that,” He says. “I know I was a twat before but I promise I grew out of it — even Matthew says I’m getting better!”
“That’s true I did say that,” Matthew admits.
“I’m willing to give you a second chance, to be friends,” Lily puts extra emphasis on the last word. “Friends, you hear me? Just that.”
“I’ll take it,” James smiles. “I’m sorry for… well, everything.”
Lily stares at him intently one last time before nodding and walking away from the group of boys, the girls follow her, Emily stays behind just a second to kiss Matthew’s cheek and quickly catches up with the rest.
“Well,” Remus tries to hide a smirk. “That was unexpected.”
“I love her,” James states. “I’m going to marry her one day.”
“Sure, because nothing says friendship more than marriage,” Matthew jokes.
Sirius and Percy walk up to them just then, laughing quietly as they reach the table, the three boys stare at them and they stop.
“What?” Percy frowns. “Did we miss something?”
“I think you should ask that to Lily,” Remus taunts.
“What’s happening?”
“Sirius, my life’s about to change,” He replies dramatically.
“Congrats,” Sirius smiles at Percy as she leaves, the memory of their first kiss from last night invading his thoughts. “I feel the same way, mate.”

December 1980
Remus reads the letter Persephone sent him as he waits for his train to reach the station. He can’t help but feel eager at the thought of seeing his friends again after a year and a half without talking in-person to each other.
He’s had a busy life, Remus signed a contract to travel the world and write a book about the different ways the wizarding community deals with dark magic, so far the trip has been wonderful and successful, he’s met thousands of different people and places, but if he’s honest, he’s been homesick for a couple of months, he missed a bunch of important events and he’ll try to make up for it now that he’s on vacation.
Sometimes he forgets that his friends are all adults now, they have jobs and families. He’s single but he’s never really cared for it, his life is always interesting even without a romantic partner, and it’s not like he’s alone, today is the living proof of that.
Today he’s going home to meet the new members of his family.
“Remus!” Lily is the first to welcome him in with a big hug. “Oh my god, look at you! So handsome!”
Remus laughs. “Don’t let James hear you say that.”
“Oh, James is too distracted at the moment,” Lily grins. “Ever since July he only has eyes for —”
“Remus!” Persephone enters the room holding a plate with sandwiches and quickly puts them aside as she sees her old friend. “You’re tanned! Where have you been?”
“Everywhere!” Remus smiles. “México was my favourite no doubt, but you have to be careful with the food —”
“Mate!” James walks into the room. “Look at this!”
James holds up a baby with striking green eyes like Lily’s and thick dark hair.
“Dear, Merlin,” Remus drops his trunk in the middle of the living room and stops in front of James. “Is this Harry?”
“Yes,” Lily smiles lovingly. “Harry, this is uncle Remus!”
“Wait!” A voice comes from the hall. “We agreed we would show the babies at the same time, you prat!”
“Sorry, Matty,” James smirks. “Got excited.”
Matthew and Sirius walk into the room, both holding their own children.
“You really kept yourselves busy while I was gone, didn’t you?” Remus teases.
“Oh, hush,” Emily is the last to appear, she’s holding a half-empty bottle. “Just shut up and come meet them.”
“This is Mel,” Matthew smiles.
“And this is Perseus,” Sirius’ face glows with pride. “Isn’t he the most handsome baby you’ve ever seen? He’s all his mum.”
“Dunno, Sirius,” James frowns a bit, holding onto his son. “Harry’s cuter.”
The two men start discussing it and Remus laughs, the truth is that the three babies all look the same to him, but he’s too happy about being with his friends again that he doesn’t want to stop their argument.
“You know, now that you’re here is as good as any other moment,” Emily puts a hand on his shoulder to get his attention. “Matthew and I were wondering if you’d like to be Mel’s godfather?”
Matthew discretely moves away from James and Sirius and gets closer to him. Remus stares at the couple in surprise.
“Godfather?” He asks. “Are you sure?”
“You’re my best mate, Remus,” Matthew smiles. “I would trust you with my life, and even if it’s unlikely, I’d feel better if I know it’s you who’s going to be looking after my daughter.”
“And you’re okay with this, Mily?” Remus raises a brow.
“Hey, as I see it, the kids will grow up having a famous writer as their uncle, if anything, are you sure you want this?” Emily snorts. “We’re choosing you because you’ll be richer than us in no time, and we’re selfish.”
Remus smiles, he looks down at the baby and his hand reaches out to her.
“Can I hold her?”
Matthew happily obliges, he carefully gives him the baby and Remus holds her like it’s made of the finest glass. This is the smallest human he’s ever carried, Mel is barely five months old, but she looks at him as if she knew exactly who he was. A tiny hand moves up and gently touches his cheek, almost following the tiny scars Remus has gained during his adventures around the globe.
Mel is too tiny to look like any of her parents, but for some reason, the thought of her adopting any of his quirks warms his heart. He wants to see all of these kids grow, they’re extensions of his best friends, of course he wants to be their family!
“What d’you say, Mely?” Remus asks quietly. “Do you think I could be a good mentor?”
The baby doesn’t make a sound, just stares at him intently, Remus looks up at her parents and nods.
“Alright, but just so you know, I’m taking her side in every future argument that she may have with you.”
Sirius and James stop fighting after a while, they’re now showing off their babies to Remus, who has to take turns to hold each one. He loves them dearly already, and he can’t wait to see what kind of people they’ll grow up to be.

McDanno Proposals #1
For @mcdannoangelwolf who asked for McDanno proposal involving Charlie somehow. I did a few McDanno proposal scenarios and they can be found in my fic here!
"Uncle Steve!" Grace ran into Steve's open arms.
Steve hugged her and even spun her around. "Hey, Grace. How was school?"
"Good. Nothing exciting to report though. What are you doing here? Where's Danno?" Grace asked as they walked over to Steve's truck.
"Your aunt's birthday is coming up, so he went with Eric to go do a bit of shopping. I told Danny I'd pick you up," Steve replied.
Grace smiled, "You didn't have to. I could have gone to the Grover's with Will."
"What? You're not beginning to get embarrassed by me too are you?" Steve asked with mock hurt. And okay, maybe actually hurt. He knew he teased Danny when he moped about Grace entering her teenage phase and didn't want to hang out with her parents much anymore. Steve could handle it because he knew Grace really, deep down, loved her parents...and that she thought Steve was cool.
She rolled her eyes. "Only when you start acting like a dad. But you know I love hanging out with you."
Steve smiled as he took off. It made him a bit worried about the subject he wanted to talk to her about though. He pushed it to the back of his mind. Right now, it was time to spend time with his girl. "Well, there's something I actually wanted to talk to you about, but I also think it's been a while since we've had one of our Steve-Gracie days."
"True. So where are we going?"
"I was thinking of getting some shaved ice?" Steve suggested.
"Always a classic."
~~
They spend a good hour just catching up. Grace tells Steve about school, college choices, her and Will. Steve, in turn, tells her about the things he can tell her about Five-Oh. The whacky shenanigans, crazy bets, and wild stories that are on the family-friendly side.
"Are you and Danno okay?" Grace blurted out.
When they first got together, no one was really surprised. They apparently tried to keep it a secret, but that only resulted in some hilarious moments in the building. Once it was out in the open, they were no different...other than people could tell when they did it because Steve would have the biggest and stupidest smile. Or that their protectiveness was fiercer, as well as their jealousy.
Grace knew that they had a bit of a relationship problem when Joe passed and then the thing with Greer. But they worked through it and it seemed like it was back to normal.
"What? Yeah, yeah...we're fine. We've...we've worked it out. Sure some days we have moments but they pass." Steve reassured her.
She sighed in relief. Out of all of Danno's partners, Steve was the best for many reasons. He was strong and resourceful and helped keep Danno safe. Steve was also witty and sharp and kept Danno interested mentally, and loved him so damn much. Sometimes though, that love leads to them making bad decisions. In recent events, Steve leaving without keeping in touch with Danno. Grace had given Steve an earful, that's for damn sure.
"So...what is it then?" She asked as she sipped from her milkshake. Steve seemed to want to talk about something serious, so when the shaved ice was gone, they stayed and ordered something else.
Steve fidgeted for a moment, but Grace didn't hurry him. It wasn't every day that Steve acted like this...unless he was in trouble. She wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, even though her mind jumped from one crazy scenario to another. With Uncle Steve...it was all too easy.
Grace was pulled out of her thoughts when Steve pulled out a ring box and showed it to her. Her eyes widened comically as she reached for it, "No way!"
Steve blushed sheepishly and scratched the back of his head. "Uh, yes way...well, hopefully. I...I love him. I know we've talked about it not mattering, ya know. It's just a piece of paper and our love was bigger than that but...I want to. I want to legally call him my husband. I want to be given rights in case anything happens. I'll try to make sure they don't but...I don't want to be pushed aside if they do."
"Not to mention if you guys ever get arrested, you can't be made to testify against each other," Grace said teasingly.
Steve chuckled, "Yeah, there's also that."
"Oh my god! This is amazing!" Grace said happily.
"You think so? Cos...I'm kinda here asking for a blessing."
"Really?" Grace cooed, it was so cute.
"You mean the world to him, Grace. You're his baby girl and your opinion matters. Your opinion also means a lot to me too...I want to ask Charlie too but more towards when I actually ask Danny. Charlie-"
"He's not the best secret keeper, no." Grace agreed. She scooted over and hugged Steve tightly. "I love you and I love you guys together. You make him happy and you've always been part of our family. You have my blessing. But if you hurt him...just know that I have enough blackmail to get Eric to get rid of evidence for me." She said very seriously.
Steve laughed and pulled her into another hug. "Mahalo, Gracie."
"So! How are you going to do it?"
~~~
"Hey Charlie, how's it going?" Steve asks and holds his hand in a high-five.
Charlie high fives him and smiles, "Hey Uncle Steve! Where's Danno?"
"Oh, he went to go pick up Gracie from practice today. I told him we'd stay here and get some homework done, yeah?"
"Okay. It's not hard. Just gotta practice some spelling." Charlie said as he grabbed his backpack and pulled out his workbooks.
Steve helped him set up and let Charlie explain to him what his teacher said and what was needed for today. They settled in and Steve helped Charlie when needed. He knew he had some time. Grace would distract Danny for at least an hour.
"So Charlie...you know how much I love Danno, right?" Steve began.
Charlie nodded. "Danno loves you too...even if sometimes you make him lil mad."
Steve chuckled, "I know. It's part of why I love him...and you know that we're dating right. That I'm Danno's boyfriend?"
"I've seen you guys kiss, even if there's no mistletoe." Charlie snickered, as a kid talking about 'love' would do.
"That's right. Well, I can't help it. I just love Danny so much...and I was wondering...what do you feel about having another daddy?"
Charlie furrowed his brow, confused. "Like Stan?"
"Eh...sort of. Kinda...I mean me. Do...would you like if I became your other daddy?" Steve asked, not wanting to really get into the whole Stan thing.
"But you are already, right?"
"Well, I do love you like a son. And I help you with homework, and I tuck you in with Danno...I do a lot of dad things. But legally, I am not...but I want to be. I...I want to marry Danno."
"You do?" Charlie asked happily.
"I do." Steve nodded. "But I need your permission...can I be part of this family?"
Charlie chuckled as he leaned over and kissed Steve's cheek, "You already are. But if ya wanna marry Danno, you should!"
"Really? Oh thanks, Charlie...then can I ask you for a favor?"
"What?"
"Can you draw up a card for me to give to Danno, asking him?"
~~~
"I can't believe I'm indulging it," Danny muttered as he served pancakes for dinner.
"It's once in a while babe. And you promised pancakes for breakfast but we didn't have time." Steve said.
Danny rolled his eyes before cutting up Charlie's pancakes in manageable pieces. Charlie was a bouncing ball of energy, so Danny said, "Little syrup...you're so hyper today. What? Did you eat your weight in sugar?"
"No..." Charlie chuckled, looking between Steve and Grace.
"What? What's with the look?" Danny asked with suspicion.
Steve knew that if he wanted this to work the way he wanted to, it would have to happen now. "Charlie's made you a card, and he can't wait to give it to you."
"A card? What's the occasion?" Danny asked.
"You need an occasion to get a gift from your kids?" Steve teased.
"No, but...that smile was really suspicious. What are you plotting?" Danny 'demanded'.
"Go get it and put Danno out of his misery," Grace told her brother, trying and failing, to hide a smile herself.
"Kay!" Charlie wobbled off his chair before running to go get the card he made with Uncle Steve. He ran back and handed it to Danny.
Steve made sure he was sitting in the right place. So the moment that Charlie gave Danny the card, he could reach into his pocket and grab the ring box and be prepared to drop down on one knee.
Danny grabbed the card and opened it. He stared a bit at the writing, not because he couldn't read it but because he was a bit confused by 'Will you let Uncle Steve become Papa Steve?'. Danny put the card down, ready to ask Charlie what he meant when he gasped. Steve was on one knee, ring box held out to Danny, a shy smile on his face. "So? Will you marry me?"
"Yes!"
Steve placed the ring on Danny before kissing the hell out of him. The kids get up and hug them. Danny complains, but not really, about all his loved ones ganging up on him but...he's so damn happy right now he could burst.

suspicion increase by deuynndrabbles and @whimsicalweast
chapter summary:
It's their first day out looking for ghosts, and it's a great day to be suspicious of Danny.
He glances back at his sister and Danny, who are still talking about space. Well, it’s more the latter who does so, rambling passionately while Mabel struggles to stay focused on one topic for this amount of time.
As Dipper realizes the irony of the situation, he stifles a laugh with his hand.
TW FOR DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF A PANIC ATTACK
3.8k | ch three
It’s the next day, the sun high in the sky. Birds are chirping, wild animals scurrying through the trees, and three kids are walking through the woods with one certain great uncle trailing behind them.
Dipper is in the front, a now fixed ghost tracker sitting in his hands and a bag of a dozen more sliding off his shoulder. (Dipper mentioned the problem to Ford a couple nights ago and he agreed to fix it. It’s even upgraded so it won’t break the way it did last time.)
Mabel is close behind, her baggy sleeves trailing behind in her graceful yet clunky movement. Today she wears a navy blue sweater with a cartoon ghost resting on the center surrounded by itty bitty stars. Her headband is white and her skirt a lighter grey, with her own ghost device settled in her sweater pocket. She’s ignoring the faint buzzing in favor of watching the scenery.
Danny is about a couple meters behind the twins, his own beeping device shoved into his big jeans pocket. He’s watching the scenery like Mabel, trailing a hand along the grass and occasionally picking a long piece to fiddle with in his hands.
There’s a long groan, and Dipper glances behind him to see Mabel leaning her head back to stare at the clouded sky, her feet planted on the dirt and unmoving.
“Why are we all just quiet?” She says, prolonging the last two syllables and sticking her bottom lip out a little. She takes a lock of her hair and begins to twirl it around her finger. “Let’s do something that isn’t just staring at those silly devices.”
There’s a quick shout of indignation from Dipper, but Danny interrupts by giving a slight nod and saying, “Yeah, it is kinda boring.”
Danny catches up to Mabel, his eyes drawn to the sweater she has on. He isn’t really sure what else to say (he’s not the best at small talk) so he compliments, “Nice sweater.”
It earns a toothy grin from said girl and she twirls in place as if to show off her creation. “Thanks! I made it myself!”
“I like the ghost, it looks pretty cool.”
“I thought it was fitting!” Mabel chimes, still grinning.
“Are those stars around it?” Danny asks, because his brain always comes back to the topic of space. Mabel nods, and Danny smiles widely, saying, “I love space!”
Mabel draws out a gasp, pressing her hand to her chest right on top of the ghost’s eyes. “Me too.”
Dipper’s pretty much sure that Mabel’s just saying it to make Danny happy. It works, as Danny’s eyes light up. She always does this, and Dipper won’t barge in this time.
Anyways, he’s paying attention to the pad in his hands more.
“Isn’t it just so cool?” Danny grins. (His face is full of excitement and he knows he’s going to rant about his special interest now. He’s practically prompted.) “Stars are amazing, and just so beautiful. But honestly, I’m super excited about space travel and all that stuff.”
Mabel nods along as if she understands every word that makes its way out of his mouth when Danny simply continues to rant on and on about astrology and other topics about space with an intense passion.
Dipper is more focused on the device grasped in his hand. His eyes dart about the monitor, looking for any sort of ectoplasmic signal but comes up empty. Dipper makes the quick hypothesis that ghosts are more active at night.
He glances back at his sister and Danny, who are still talking about space. Well, it’s more the latter who does so, rambling passionately while Mabel struggles to stay focused on one topic for this amount of time.
As Dipper realizes the irony of the situation, he stifles a laugh with his hand.
Mabel constantly tries to steer the conversation away from scientific aspects, preferring creative or ‘girly’ subjects like glitter and rainbows. She’d likely come out here in the hopes of finding a ghost cat and cuddling it or something. Probably to hang out with Danny too, maybe flirt with him or whatever the heck Mabel thinks she’s doing.
Instead she has to listen to the boy ramble on about various studies of space.
Oh, how the tables have turned.
Dipper can tell how absolutely bored Mabel is with Danny’s speech, and he still struggles to hide his chuckles.
(He’d probably get along better with the teen better than his sister, if he weren’t so skeptical of Danny’s unknown intentions.
He is still a stranger, after all.)
Mabel’s hands are fiddling with the loose threads of her newly made sweater. Her attention had clearly drifted off elsewhere a while ago, but Danny still hasn’t noticed, ever so caught up in his one-way conversation.
Dipper catches her eye, throwing a smug expression her way as Danny continues to speak animatedly, and his sister returns a raspberry as she slumps over.
‘Very mature’, he thinks.
Dipper rolls his eyes with a smile, about to return to examining the machines when Danny mentions a topic that Dipper had recently heard about.
“The Apollo missions inspired an entire generation of people to pursue math and science careers, and it’s amazing! Our society continues to become more technologically advanced and dependent, and the general populace need to become more scientifically literate to keep up.
“I’ve always dreamed of being an astronaut,” he says, his excitement slowing as he gazes down at the floor. “I’ve just- I’m not what you’d call a star student.” He gives out a chuckle, a chuckle that is absent of actual humor, and it makes Dipper hesitate in his step as well. “And outside of school, I’m pretty busy with other stuff. Uh- extracurriculars, and all that.”
With those last few sentences, it finally clicks, and Dipper whirls around.
“It was you!”
-
“I’m sorry, what?”
It’s the first thought that runs through Danny’s head, and apparently it spills out his lips too.
“You-You were the guy who helped me back to camp a week ago!” Dipper exclaims, his finger still pointed at the confused boy.
(For some reason this makes Danny think of Wes.)
“What?” It’s Mabel who says this. She’s eloquently ignored.
“Y’know, when you- uh, when you fell from that tree, and pointed out the constellations to me?” Dipper stammers, and Danny’s eyes widen in recognition.
“That was you?” Danny asks, and Dipper nods slowly, as if he’s uncomfortable.
(Mabel looks on in pure confusion. She is still promptly ignored.)
“What a coincidence, huh?” Danny lets out a nervous chuckle, rubbing the back of his neck with his left hand. “Well, uh. Nice to meet you? Again, I guess.”
(Danny truly does see it to be a coincidence. It’s so odd, how the universe chooses to dump on him in a place that isn’t Amity Park. Hasn’t he had enough?)
He stretches out his hand awkwardly, and cautiously, Dipper steps forward and shakes it. They’ve already met, but this makes it feel more official, Danny thinks. Maybe not quite that, but he imagines it’d make the scenario much more awkward if he jerks his hand back now.
Instead, Dipper is the one to pull his hand back, replacing his steadfast grip on the pad in his hands. It gives out a solid beep, and then returns back to its muted noise.
“Well,” Dipper starts, his face screaming the fact that he feels very awkward in this scenario. “How about we go back to looking for ghosts?”
“Sure!” Mabel chirps, and Danny shrugs, finally pulling out the device in his hands. He’s down for pretending that never happened.
Dipper pauses, and then says, "Hey, I can't see Great Uncle Ford."
Mabel pauses in her balancing act on a toppled tree trunk, glancing up to her brother. She takes a look back behind her. "Yeah, I guess so."
Mabel takes a seat on the ground, adjusting her skirt. Danny leans against a tree, and then a thought pops into his head.
“Oh shit, I pointed out the Big Dipper to a kid named Dipper.”
“Language!” Mabel sing-songs, blowing a small raspberry from her pleasant spot on the ground as Dipper's face reddens.
"Seriously?" Dipper bites out as Mabel gives a dorky snort, a fair imitation of the pig sitting back in her room.
(Ford can hear the tail end of the conversation as he settles his cane in a knot of roots and heaves himself over it. A fond smile tugs on his lips, and he lets out a chuckle.
He's glad the kids are getting along.)
"Go back to your dorky devices, guys." The last word is said even more dorkishly, and Mabel gestures to said devices. Danny imagines that she's already shoved her gadget back into her sweater pocket.
As Ford steps back into the small clearing that Danny and the twins are sitting in, everyone rises and Ford hands out snacks to each kid individually.
Five minutes later, they’re back on track and return to their task.
Danny this time trails in the back, stimming by shaking his hands, deep in thought.
Dipper is clearly wary of Danny, probably due to the fact that Danny said he fell out of a tree with little to no explanation. (He really needs to control what comes out his mouth.) Danny must seem pretty suspicious.
Or maybe it’s just how the kid acts. He can’t be entirely sure.
He’s still surprised that Dipper hadn’t mentioned his run in with Danny. The two don’t seem to be quite attached at the hip, but he can still tell they’re very close. He sees how they can just communicate without speaking, how comfortable they are around the other. It’s nice, he thinks.
(If later asked, he’d deny it. But Danny can’t help but secretly wish he was as comfortable around Jazz as the twins are around each other.)
What surprises him even more? It’s the fact that Mabel doesn’t question it. She’s been pestering Danny with questions non-stop since ‘inviting’ him over for a sleepover. Mabel is a chatterbox and it’s so odd that she doesn’t press, because it seems like it’s practically part of her nature to find out more about things.
The only reaction out of her hearing of Dipper and his meeting (aside from the earlier input) is a questioning glance at her brother, to which the boy shrugs halfheartedly in response.
Mabel throws him that look that Danny knows as ‘We’ll talk about this later’. He knows it well, having been on the receiving end of it countless times from his own sister. She then slows down, another grin on her face, and she strikes up another conversation.
To be honest, the constant conversation is starting to wear him out, but he still does it anyway.
“What’s your favorite animal?” Mabel asks, skipping happily.
Danny isn’t entirely sure. He says so.
“Me too!” Mabel grins, moving her hand to fiddle with her headband. “I just can’t decide! There’s cats, but dogs are really cute too! And not to mention koalas, and elephants and just. So many animals I can’t choose between them all.”
-
All in all, it’s a fairly uneventful day. All they seem to have done is walk through the forest, checking the devices, enjoying the scenery and engaging in small talk.
It leaves Dipper with a dissatisfied feeling sitting in his gut, but he doesn’t express it like Mabel does. Mabel sinks in disgruntlement with a roll of her eyes, slumped over slightly with her energy drained as much as it can be for Mabel Pines. That is to say, she has the energy of a normal person.
“Don’t worry, there’s still tomorrow,” Danny says, with an awkward pat on Mabel’s shoulder.
(Danny’s silently wishing they actually don’t come across any other ghosts. But alas, they’ll find someone, he’s sure. This woods has the same eerie feeling as the Ghost Zone, so he knows that there are supernatural entities in this place.
He’s not eager to find out what they are.)
Dipper’s head nods slowly in agreement, and it occurs to him that this isn’t the only day they go out to search for ghosts and he isn’t a failure-
Mabel elbows Dipper in the forearm, her mood having taken a 180 and a slight smirk resting on her lips. “Why you sad, bro-bro?” The brunette asks innocently, as if she wasn’t the one just dragging her feet along on the forest floor. “You still got a lot of-”
Mabel purses her lip, searching for the right word.
“Data. That’ll help, right?” She elbows Dipper again.
(Dipper’s sigh has a hint of disappointment, and Danny knows that Dipper is actually the one more disheartened in this situation. Mabel tends to exaggerate her feelings.)
“You’re right, Mabel,” Dipper mutters, fiddling with the pad in his hands again anxiously. “We have a lot of data now.”
Dipper glances up slightly, and sees the silhouette of the Mystery Shack illuminated in the near sunset, the sun beginning to slide behind the wide expanse of trees. He turns his head back to face the device, pressing buttons occasionally to change the view.
From behind him, Mabel straightens up, and pulls on Danny’s sleeve. “You ready for another sleepover?” She asks excitedly, her voice lilting.
“Nah,” Danny responds. “I’ll find somewhere to stay tonight.”
(Danny doesn’t want to bother Dipper again.)
Dipper doesn’t entirely care. He’s almost glad that he doesn’t have to sleep in the same room as Danny tonight, but he won’t say it out loud.
(Mabel huffs, and she has the social awareness to give a glance to the boy who is scouring the devices in his hand and in the bag on his back.) “Fine, just be okay, okay?” She pauses, and then giggles. “I said okay twice.”
Dipper inhales sharply, and Mabel instantly quiets. The next few minutes are pretty awkward, as all they do is walk. Dipper’s feet are tired and he’s more walking on impulse now, waiting for the moment to sit down. Mabel seems to be out of energy as well, as she doesn’t break the silence with her excited gestures or bubbly sentences.
The twins step up onto the slanted porch promptly, Dipper collapsing sitting on one of the stairs. Mabel groans and fans her face with her baggy sleeve, and Ford is a few meters behind them. Danny puts his hands in his pockets, staying a good few feet away from everyone, and gives a quick wave.
“See ya guys tomorrow,” Danny says, and as the two twins step inside, Dipper rushes to the nearest window to look out at Danny.
(He doesn’t see anything, as Danny is already long gone.)
-
Dipper sits in a fold-up chair as he watches Ford review the data they’ve collected that day, pouring over the gadgets. There haven't been very many ectoplasmic signatures, but any information is helpful and will allow them to know how to better handle it when they do come across a ghost for the first time.
The brunet still pipes in here and there with his own views on the data, but his mind has already drifted elsewhere.
(He does remember his first meeting with Danny. It was a week ago, and it’s still very fresh in his mind. The flimsy excuse of ‘stargazing’ had been so odd. But what other reasons could Danny need to climb a tree for? Was he hiding from something? Someone?
How had he even gotten up there in the first place? The branches on the trees in the forest are often placed far from each other, and once you do get a grip on them the brittle branches give up on your weight and you go collapsing back to the ground.
He’s seen Mabel try to climb the trees on multiple occasions. She’s never gotten past five feet above the ground.
And how does he just disappear into thin air? One second he’s beside Dipper and the next he’s nowhere to be seen. It’s also absurd how many times he hasn’t noticed the teen beside him; it’s like the teen has no presence whatsoever.)
He rests a hand on his forehead, letting out a sigh with a frown.
(Danny is such an enigma and it’s just so frustrating being unable to figure him out.
Though, he says this as if there’s anything to discover in the first place.
For all he knows, Danny could just be a regular teen with somewhat questionable hobbies. He hasn’t done anything out of the ordinary, ordinary for Gravity Falls at least. He gets along with everyone around him just fine with the occasional awkward sentence or body posture, fiddling with things when he’s nervous like Dipper does.
Dipper’s probably just going crazy overreacting.)
He glances up, combing a hand through his hair, letting out another unsteady breath.
(But if that's the case, why does he feel so uneasy?)
Ford pauses, taking a glance at his great nephew. He turns to him, devices still in his grasp, and asks, “Are you okay?” He cocks his head slightly to the side, eyeing Dipper’s tense body language.
Dipper nods sharply, rubbing his arm and staring down at the slick lab floor. “Yeah. . . Just, uh, thinking about some stuff.”
Ford seems unconvinced, his eyes still trailing on Dipper before he turns back to his devices. He hums in confirmation, making Dipper feel slightly guilty for the white lie.
A few minutes pass, and Dipper still can’t focus, catching more than one concerned glance from his great uncle.
"So, care to tell me what 'stuff' you're thinking of?" Ford questions, idly rifling through some papers.
Dipper fiddles with his lip with his two front teeth, rubbing his left arm. He winces slightly, refusing to meet his great uncle’s gaze.
“I-I dunno, it’s just. . .” He sighs, his hand dropping to rest by his side. “Danny’s been- He’s been super helpful and gets along with Mabel, but I- but I can’t help but feel like I’m missing something here.”
Ford’s eyes soften, and he sets down the papers on another tall pile of paper. He leans down and pulls out his own chair from underneath a table, twisting it to face his great nephew and Dipper does the same with his chair.
“I get how you feel, Dipper. I understand, really I do, but not everything needs a dramatic reveal.” Ford says, gently patting Dipper’s head. “Oftentimes, people are exactly who they claim to be and that’s rather normal. Just because something may feel off about someone, doesn’t have to mean they’re dangerous.
“Gravity Falls is indeed a strange place, but not everyone who steps foot into the town is a monster in disguise.
“Puzzles are marginally harder to solve when you can’t see each individual piece and fit them together, or when you refuse to see the pieces in front of you. I myself had a difficult time grasping this after so many years spent living here.”
("And in the portal" remains unsaid, but Dipper can hear the hint of it behind the words Ford speaks.)
"You certainly have a knack for picking out who or not to trust, so if you really believe Danny has harmful intentions, I'll listen. To me, Danny just appears to be a typical teenage boy, similar to yourself, but it's your call, Dipper. Just remember that putting your faith in others isn't always harmful."
(“Not as easy as it sounds” whispers in the back of his head, and he shakes it away by bobbing his mechanically and allowing the words his great uncle speaks replace the dread sitting in his gut for absolutely no reason-)
Ford is right; he’s getting worked up over nothing. Not everyone is out to get him.
Danny isn't out to get him.
(It's irrational to think Danny would do anything to hurt Mabel, or anyone else for that matter.)
Danny’s just a random teen who made his way into Gravity Falls, a teen obsessed with space and finding himself wrapped up in Dipper’s research. From the start, Danny has done nothing but help them, and he likely thinks Dipper is weird when he refuses to meet the teen’s eye, hands shuffling nervously.
Guilt rises into Dipper’s chest, and almost immediately Dipper feels terrible. He’s only made things feel more awkward for Danny. By making the teen feel uncomfortable during their outings. Disappointing Mabel by ruining her sleepover.
(‘You know they would've been happier without you there, anyway,’ his brain barges in, and he can’t find the heart to deny it.)
Dipper is always bringing people down along with him. It’s his fault Ford’s machine broke. If he hadn’t gone out that night, none of this would have happened, anyway.
(Dipper always needs other people to help him. He’s just useless by himself.)
(Why can’t his brain just act normal for once? Why can’t he ever seem to let people in?)
His eyes begin to sting, and he feels the panic taking hold, leaching into his chest and refusing to let go. He curls in on himself slightly, because he can only just live through it and mentally hit himself-
Is it really so hard to trust people again?
(Dipper already knows the answer to this question; he knows because of the being that frequently haunts his nightmares.)
(‘Trust no one’ echoes endlessly in his mind, reflecting off every boundary and always making its way back to the center-
Dipper’s hand burns, engulfed in blue flame-
His laughter, resonating within his ears-
There’s no escape-)
His lungs refuse to take in air, and his vocal cords won’t work to even choke out a scream.
(He can't breathe-)
In a split second, there’s a warm hand resting on his shoulder. It’s vaguely comforting, but Dipper still jerks away from it and takes in a shaky breath as his lungs start working again.
His mind slowly clears, and he glances up to see Ford resting beside the chair on his knee, hand pulled back slightly with a concerned expression on his face.
(‘You did that to him. You're the one troubling your great uncle. You're just a burden’, his brain screams at him, and he can’t find the courage to scream denials back.)
“Dipper?” Ford asks tentatively, concern hidden in his eyes. “Is everything all right?”
“Yeah-Yeah,” Dipper manages to choke out, still taking shaky breaths and refusing to look the man in the eye. “I’m good.”
"Are you sure?"
Dipper pauses for a moment, but then nods slowly. “I’m okay, Great Uncle Ford.” His breath is starting to steady, and he takes his first deep breath. “Thanks. For everything.”
(Really, he’s okay.
‘Keep telling yourself that’, his brain taunts, and he sighs again.
He's fine.)

Spy Kids (2001)🕵️‍♂️👧
Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams (2002)🕵️‍♂️👦
Directed by Robert Rodriguez and featuring an impressive cast starring Antonio Banderas, Carla Gugino, Danny Trejo, Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara, these cool movies deserve high praise.
The first movie revolves around top secret spies Gregorio and Ingrid Cortez (Banderas and Gugino) having gone missing after being called back into action following their marriage and raising a family. The only people who can save them are their two kids, Carmen and Juni (Vega and Sabara). Along the way, they meet their estranged uncle and gadget inventor Isador Machete (Trejo), encounter conflicted TV show host Fegan Floop (Alan Cumming), his evil assistant Alexander Minion (Tony Shalhoub) and must save the world from an army of robots cloned from the children of all top leaders. The action is just spectacular enough to amuse older audiences and done in a mild way to entertain kids of all ages.
The second film focuses on Carmen and Juni assigned to locate and disable a highly coveted device that has the power to shut down all technology while dealing with two rival spy kids named Gary and Gerti Giggles (Matt O’Leary and Emily Osment) who are also the children of Gregorio’s rival agent Donnagon. The journey takes them all to a mysterious island owned by a bizarre scientist Romero (Steve Buscemi) and populated with giant mutated creatures. The mission also proves to be so huge, Carmen and Juni are eventually joined with both their parents and grandparents (played by Holland Taylor and Ricardo Montalbán, respectively). One thing that makes each movie so interesting is how all the secondary characters are portrayed by different top actors and actresses, like Teri Hatcher as the antagonist Ms. Gradenko, George Clooney as spy director Devlin, Bill Paxton as theme park owner Dinky Winks, Taylor Momsen as Alexandra, Christopher McDonald as the President and Salma Hayek as Francesca Giggles. The special effects for the second one are increased to heighten the drama and excitement of every obstacle the characters go through. Such effects include Carmen and Juni fighting undead skeletons, riding the hybrid animals upon taming them, falling in a volcano, driving a completely high-tech submarine, battling magnet men that have the ability to draw up items made of metal and a competitive rescue mission that involves an intense thrill ride that juggles its passengers. These stunts are accomplished with both computer animation and the actors being flown on wires. Additionally, the soundtrack features a song performed by Alexa Vega known as “Isle of Dreams”, which is shown in the end credits.
While there’s a third movie, I’d rather not talk about it partly because Carmen’s not in much of it nor do Carla Gugino and Antonio Banderas appear until the end. Finally, the message that the franchise contains is to give kids the chance to do all sorts of tasks so they can grow into whatever they choose to become. So in closing, the movies are a blast of thrills and humor sure to satisfy both kids and adults.

The Nuptial Necessity - Chapter 18
A 12xRose Human AU
Despite an unglamorous job description, Rose loves the work she does with The Thistle Foundation, a charity founded by her best friend’s great-uncle.  It doesn’t hurt that her boss, her friend’s father, is easy on the eyes.  With a great job, wonderful friends and a loving family, life couldn’t be better – except for having someone to share it with.
All of that is threatened, though, when the great-uncle dies – and sets a strange condition for his nephew to inherit, jeopardizing the Foundation and Rose’s future, sparking a chain of events that might just get her everything she dreamed of and more.
Chapters will be posted on Saturdays and Tuesdays.  Many thanks to my beta, @stupidsatsuma
Rated: Explicit, for eventual smut

The limo ride back to the townhouse was quiet; with Clara and Danny going home directly from the event it was just the two of them.  It was only a twenty-minute ride, but Rose still kicked off her heels to give her feet a break before Malcolm was even fully in the car, so that by the time he was settled she could scoot right into his side and relax.
“Hello,” he murmured, hesitating before putting his arm around her.
“Hi,” she sighed in return, resting her head on his shoulder.  After a minute, she laid her arm along the length of his thigh, ostensibly as the only comfortable place for it, squished between them.
He didn’t object.
Watching out the window as London passed by, Rose tried to control her nerves and mentally rehearse how this would go.  Ideally he’d try something himself and save her the trouble, but somehow, she didn’t think so.  That wouldn’t be like him, to take charge – not with her.  It would be much more his style to let her come to him, and she was praying that was the case here.
She didn’t know what she would do if he turned her down.  I don’t want to go back and live with my parents.  Maybe Clara will let me stay with them – it is my flat.  Either way, it would be humiliating.
A tentative brush against her knee made her look down to find Malcolm’s hand awkwardly hovering over it, as if debating whether or not to set it down.  Checking his expression, she found he was firmly staring out the window, a bit too intensely to be natural.  Licking her lips, hope flickering inside her, she used her free hand to gently press his down onto her knee before removing her own quickly.  His remained still for long moments, before the thumb began to gently rub back and forth, much as it had moments before she’d announced their ‘engagement’.  Was that already a month ago?  It felt like a lifetime had passed since then.
Taking a deep breath, she moved the hand on his knee until it bumped his on hers, slowly encouraging it to flip.  Once it did, she laced their fingers together, but loosely, so he could pull away if he so wanted; instead, he squeezed her hand.
This might actually happen, she realized with a jolt, equal parts panic and anticipation racing through her.  It would be the culmination of five years’ worth of fantasies and daydreams, of hoping, wishing, wanting, and now that it was here (maybe), standing on the precipice, she saw that if she dared, if she jumped, it would be an awfully long way to fall if he didn’t catch her.
No, she told herself firmly, as her thoughts started to spiral.  This is no time to chicken out.  You have to see this through.
“Rose?”
“Yes!”  She startled, gaze snapping up to meet his amused and somewhat curious look.  “Sorry, what?”
“We’re here- home.”
Home.  “Right.”
She put her shoes back on while he got out, before sliding over to the door and making sure she had everything.  He held out a hand to help her out, and she took it, breathing deeply.
Showtime.
-
Anticipation tingled on Malcolm’s skin like electricity, building up to a steady hum.  Change was in the air, and if he was reading the signs right, his wildest fantasy might soon be coming true.
While he had been firm in his resolve of not allowing anything to happen between them, in the end that had only lasted a handful of hours, right up until he had woken up in the middle of the night on the sofa, spooning Rose.  She’d been pressed tight against him, and there had been no way to hide his physical reaction to her closeness.  His heart had almost stopped when she’d awoken, and he’d barely been able to maintain a convincing level of unconsciousness as she’d rolled her hips back into him once, twice, three times.  And he knew for sure that she was awake, was conscious of her actions and his reaction, because she’d whispered his name.
The fact that she hadn’t frozen, or tried to get away, or for that matter run screaming, had instead chosen to press closer, gave him hope.
He was tired of denying himself happiness, tired of punishing himself for a failed marriage the one who ruined it felt no guilt over.  If Rose wanted him, well…
Almost on autopilot he led her into the house, suddenly nervous about what would happen next.  Would she make a move?  Did she expect him to?
“Nightcap?” he offered, once the door was locked behind them.  “Or do you want to go to bed?  I mean- are you tired?”
“I could go for a drink,” she agreed, lips twitching upwards.  “Sure.”
Moving his hand from it’s relatively-safe place on her fabric-clad hip he took a chance, finding the smooth, warm skin of her bare back and guiding her that way into the library.  Leaving her to settle where she wanted, Malcolm headed for the drinks cart, pouring them each two fingers of scotch.  Over the past week it had become their routine to end the evening with a glass in here.
He didn’t want the evening to end here.
Turning, a glass in each hand, he found her sitting just right of center on the sofa, looking perfectly elegant and relaxed, as if she spent every night in an evening gown.  “My lady,” he offered her one, which she accepted with a grin as he sank down next to her, side by side, flush against each other from knee to hip.
“Why thank you, my lord,” she countered, in what had become a running joke between them.  “Too kind.”
They clinked glasses, taking a small sip.
“Tonight was perfect,” he told her seriously.  “You make pulling this together look effortless, but I know how hard you work on it all year round.  Brava.”  He lifted his glass slightly in a little toast.  Grinning, cheeks flushing a pretty shade of pink, Rose ducked her head.
“Thank you.  It did go well, didn’t it?  And we raised a fuck-ton of money, too.  But this wouldn’t happen without you, and Wallace, and the Estate, so… here’s to you too,” she toasted back, pausing before letting their glasses touch.  “Hang on, but the reason there will continue to be this Gala is because of me,” she teased, tongue peeking out the side of her mouth from between her teeth and making his trousers tighten.  “So, yes, another toast to me, I think.”
“I’ll most certainly drink to that,” he murmured, voice somewhat lower than he’d strictly intended, but not sorry as she gave a little shiver in response, leaning into him.  “And especially to you in that dress.”
“Mum called me a tart,” she snickered.  “She said that dressed like this, I might as well hang a sign around my neck and say I’m open for business.”
He barely managed to stop himself from asking any sort of follow up question, taking a long pull off his whisky instead, almost choking on it when Rose’s palm settled on his upper thigh, fingers spread across the width of it, the very tips of them dangerously close to a specific area.  Be cool, be cool.  You’re not fifteen.  Don’t embarrass yourself.
“Well, thanks for the drink, but I think it’s time for bed,” Rose sighed, rubbing gently at his leg.  “Walk me up?”
“Of course.”  Taking the empty glasses back to the cart for the cleaner to deal with tomorrow, he used the momentary privacy of his back to her to adjust himself.  “Ready?”
-
They took their time climbing the stairs, his hand once again in the small of her back, fingers unable to stop themselves from rubbing circles on her skin.
He wondered if she would object if he moved his hand down to her bum.
Something told him she wouldn’t, but he didn’t try.  Maybe next time.  Let’s see how tonight goes.
All too soon they reached her bedroom, pausing there.  Rose leaned back against the door, and he tried not to look at how it accentuated her curves.
This was it, the moment, his one chance, and he couldn’t make himself do anything.  Say something, kiss her, what are you waiting for?  Look at her!  She’s practically begging for it.  That was true; she was oozing sex appeal, and he wanted to take her then and there.
Instead, he said, “This is you.”
She knows that, moron, it’s her room.  That the best you’ve got?
“It is,” she replied, breathless, reaching out to toy with the buttons on his shirt; he instinctively moved closer, which was apparently what she wanted by her little smirk.  “So…”
“So?”
Her chest heaved, and he couldn’t imagine how she could possibly be breathing in a tension-filled moment such as this.  “Here’s the thing…  I could use a hand.”
“Oh?  How so?”  All of his blood was rushing south, leaving his brain all but empty, which actually made it easier – raising one forearm, he braced himself on the door, bracketing her against it, not close enough that they were touching, but certainly invading her personal space.
“I need help undoing the dress.  The back, I mean.  It’s too intricate to do by myself.”
Malcolm blinked; he’d spent most of the night studying the back (and front, and sides) of the dress, and as far as he could tell, the only zipper was at the small of her back going down, and the top could practically be peeled off.  (He’d done it a dozen times in his mind, several of them notable for the use of his teeth.)  “You do?”
Cheeks pink and eyes hooded, Rose nodded slowly, fingers now trailing up and down the row of buttons on his dress shirt.  “I do.  And, obviously, in return, I’d be happy to help you out of your tux.  Fair is fair, after all.”
Holy fuck, she is coming onto me.  Say yes, say yes, say yes.
“I live to serve,” he managed, lowering his head towards her.  “Anything you want.  Need.  Desire.”
“I might have quite a long list,” she whispered, hands moving to his hips and pulling him closer.  “Is that okay?”
Dipping his head further he nuzzled his nose against her temple, unable to believe this was happening, happiness and shock running rampant through him.  “More than, I insist.  In fact, you should check it again, make sure it’s comprehensive.  I want to thoroughly satisfy it.”
Rose whimpered, and his lips kissed their way down to the corner of her mouth, waiting there, resting there, for her permission.
“Is this what you want?” he whispered against her skin.  “Am I understanding properly?”  He kept his tone serious and quiet, wanting to make sure she knew this wasn’t part of whatever game they’d stumbled into.  “Rose, tell me to go away and I will.”
She turned her head slightly, soft lips grazing against his own.
“Malcolm,” she sighed, “take me inside.”
“Are you sure?”
Her right hand slid around to his belt buckle and down, her words as clear as her actions.  “Yes.  I’m sure.”
She opened the door, and they went inside.

My Danny Phantom Reboot (as was owed for the Phight)
Okay, so first off I should mention that this is going to be less “what if someone made a reboot of Danny Phantom now” and more “what if Danny Phantom was done right to start with.” This means there’ll be more emphasis on storytelling and characters, none of H*rtm*n’s usual shenanigans, but the storyline as it was is going to be more-or-less intact, depending on what I think I can salvage.
So, let’s talk powers.
Danny is going to have all the powers he did in the show, given gradually and with clear foreshadowing. His ghost sense is currently just a bit too conspicuous, so I’ll be changing it from a wisp of cold breath to a chill up his spine, though for the sake of the audience there will be a visual and audio indicator of it, much like Spider-Man’s spider sense. Starting out, he just has that and the three basic ghost powers, though they won’t work properly for a while, and I’ll make it clear that this is because his half-ghost status prevented him from gaining the instinctual knowledge to control them outright. While there are some abilities that he gains during times of stress (like ectoblasts and the ghostly wail) he’ll have to actually practice in order for them to work with any level of consistency.
Like I mentioned, there will be some foreshadowing, specifically when it comes to his ice powers. There’s going to be multiple points where someone mentions that he has cold hands, with many of those people being ghosts to imply that it isn’t a ghost thing. There’ll be more emphasis on Ghost Cores and Core Types. Danny isn’t going to be as affected by warmer or colder temperatures as other people, usually being the last one to need to put on a jacket. He’s going to be somewhat weak to fire-based attacks. And there’s going to be a multi-episode buildup to his powers freezing him.
I’m also going all-in on the space motif. His bedroom is covered in star stickers and NASA posters. He tends to look up at the stars whenever he needs time to think. He isn’t afraid of heights at all because up is good, up is safe, up is home, and flight is the only power he never has trouble with as a result.
And now, for Danny’s parents. First off, for this, they do not want to destroy ghosts. They want to study them, understand them, and keep people safe from the ones that cause trouble. They know full well how little they actually know and how small their sample size is- that’s why they’re working on equipment to actually explore the Ghost Zone in the first place! Yes they’ll screw up, and jump to conclusions, and be a bit too enthusiastic. Yes, they’re working off of some pretty big assumptions, because that’s all they’ve got. But at the end of the day, they’re the first to admit they’re not perfect. And as far as priorities are concerned, they’re parents first, scientists second, and hunters third(if even that).
Jazz and Tucker are already good as-is, as are most of the ghosts, so let’s move on to Sam and the “A-listers.”
So starting off, because I’m not Fartman, I will not be vilifying the popular kids just because they’re popular. For Qwan, we’ve already got the fanon of him being a sweet cinnamon roll who’d be a great friend to everybody if he were just able to say no, specifically to Dash. And with Star I’ll be going with a strong-willed girl who’s fully willing to call the others out when they’re bullshit goes to far, though she’s admittedly got a looser definition of “too far” than she should.
And now the big three. So my interpretation of Sam, Dash and Paulina is that a big chunk of their issues come from them not quite growing out of their jackass middle schooler phase(you all know what I mean). That’s not all of it, or even most of it, but it’s a big enough part that them acknowledging it will be a huge step in the right direction.
In Sam’s case, a lot of it also stems from her need to control as much of her life as she can, which developed in response to how little control her parents let her have. This ranges from harmless (her love of gardening and “ultra-recyclo-vegetarianism”) to really not okay (her tendency to manipulate or strong-arm people into doing what she wants) with her harsh judgement of people and trust issues landing somewhere in the upper middle. All of this to say that she’s a lot more like her parents (and Paulina, to a lesser extent) than she realizes.
With Paulina, while she does still have a lot of problems, being a crazy, obsessive fangirl isn’t one of them. She knows full well that her feelings for Phantom are just a celebrity crush and they aren’t about to get together any time soon (the boy’s dead as far as she knows, for god’s sake!). She’s also very observant, not to the point of finding out the truth about Danny but enough to realize quite a few other important details…
With Dash, all I’m really going to be changing is that his Football Star status absolutely does not give him free reign to do whatever he wants, because I respect Mr. Lancer more than that.
Admittedly I haven’t quite figured out their other classmates yet. And Valerie’s arc is already good as-is, though I won’t be including her getting shunned by the “A-listers” because this version of Star ain’t gonna let that fly. I’m also including Wes, because his antics are glorious and I think I can do some cool stuff with him.
Now, along with giving the characters better characterization in general, I’ll also be giving them their own time in the limelight to show what Danny’s situation looks like from an outsider’s perspective. Valerie in particular ends up as something of a secondary protagonist.
And now we come to Vlad. Oh, Vlad.
Okay, so in this version, Vlad inviting the Fentons to the reunion was a genuine attempt to reconnect. Unfortunately ghostly obsessions are powerful things, and he sort of relapsed into hating Jack and wanting Maddie for himself. Things more-or-less continue as normal, though with his desire to take on Danny as an apprentice coming off as him actually, genuinely wanting to teach Danny how being a halfa works, which makes it a little comically awkward when he tries to turn their battles into a teaching moment. He still becomes the mayor, though this time around it’s because he genuinely thought it was a good idea, and he got voted in legitimately.
Unfortunately it all sort of goes downhill after a while. Due to his current mentality of “tired old uncle just wants to get over his issues and help out” clashing with his obsession with Jack and Maddie, he’s sort of cracking, and the fact that Danny adds an extra layer to both isn’t really a good thing.
And then we get the clones. In this version, they all last a lot longer, and sort of act as Vlad’s minions for a while. The Frankenstein’s Monster-esque one sort of acts as a big brother to the others. He’s also very smart, even if he can’t really say much, and as time goes on he starts to realize that something is very wrong with Vlad. It all comes to a head when Dani is created, because Vlad realizes that even with a human half she still isn’t stable and something inside him just snaps. At this moment, there’s now two Vlads in there; Masters, who’s honestly just tired of all the fighting and pushing people away, and Plasmius, who’s essentially season three Vlad in all of his megalomaniacle obsession-fueled glory. Frankendanny’s destabilization is a big moment in this, as are the other clones holding back Vlad as they’re melting so Danny and Dani can escape at the end of the episode.
Dani still ends up traveling after that, though she’s not just ignored as she’ll be sending Danny postcards of places she’s been and there’ll be a few episodes dedicated to her adventures (with some hints to her instability getting worse.)
D-stabilized is where thing get really crazy. This is because while I’ve been distracting you with my Danny Phantom remake, there’s been a secret, second remake of Fairly Oddparents hidden in the background! I won’t go into too much detail, since that’s not what this is about, but It follows the same structure of apply overarching story, focus on characters, trim off what doesn’t work. Because of this, Timmy happens to be in the same city where Valerie finds Dani (I don’t think they were in Amity Park yet, but I’m not sure) and meets Dani before Valerie does. The episode plays out more-or-less the same (Val uses Dani as bait to catch Danny, gives Dani to Vlad, Danny appeals to her better nature, she finds out that Vlad is an evil half-ghost and that not all ghosts are evil thus shattering her world view) but with the addition of Timmy tracking her down to her weird holding cell/torture room place (seriously, what was up with that?) and then tagging along and somehow holding his own against Fright Knight with nothing but a blaster he managed to swipe from her (since not only does he have to deal with having human allies, but also the fact that magic doesn’t work that well on ghosts, which means no fairy help).
After that, there’s a few breather episodes to the end of the third season, mainly to do with Valerie processing everything she’s just learned.
And then Freakshow gets the reality gauntlet, because I’ve been holding that off until now. Danny gets his identity revealed on live television, the Guys in White are after him, and Freakshow is holding Amity Park hostage until Danny can find the three stones he scattered.
There’s just a few small changes I’ve made:
The stones got scattered across the planet, instead of just the country
There’s no easy way to track the stones unless one gets activated, unlike in the original where they had ecto-signatures
Wes and the “A-Listers” get dragged along for the ride
Because Freakshow isn’t a complete idiot and realizes that it will take a significant amount of time to find the stones, the team has until the end of summer.
Instead of everybody being in cages (since that won’t really work with this time frame) Amity Park is surrounded by an impenetrable dome, and both ghost portals are clogged up. Nobody gets in or out unless the ringmaster says so.
The second and third parts of Wishology and an adaptation of Nicktoons Unite are happening alongside all of this, so along with GIW and ghosts the team is going to be dealing with the Eliminators and The Syndicate.
Carl, Sheen and Libby have somehow tagged along.
We’ll be calling this arc the Road-trip from Hell, and it, along with the other two story arcs, will be taking up the entirety of the fourth season. The other two arcs will experience changes as well, such as Dani going with Timmy, Mark Chang and the Villains to find the Wind Wand due to being in Dimmsdale when it happens, Catman, Chip Skylark, Elmer and Sanjay getting captured along with the rest of Timmy’s friends, Valerie and Tootie getting recruited by Jimmy to fight the Syndicate since Timmy and Danny are busy and they’re honestly the only two options, and Anti-Cosmo being the Fairly Oddparents representative for the Syndicate since Crocker is also busy.
For the sake of storytelling, I should mention that GIW is a fanatical splinter group of MERF in this continuity, and have already been established as major antagonists. Also throughout the season Fairy World is basically going to be a warzone locked in a three-way battle between the Fairies, the Anti-Fairies and Syndicate, and the Eliminators, which all three groups see at one point or another.
The final battle is really going to be four going on simultaneously- Danny and Team Phantom(which by this point will also include the reformed agents O and K, because I like them) vs Ghost Freakshow, the robot army just outside of town, and Lydia; the Nicktoons vs the Syndicate’s doomsday device; Cosmo in his Godzilla form vs everything the Syndicate and the Eliminators can throw at him, and Timmy vs The Destructinator (which will actually be a full-on fight, with the outsmarting thing just being Timmy’s trump card). It’s going to be really cool with a bunch of well-timed jump-cuts and everything.
Then in the aftermath I’m going to basically spit in the face of the status quo. Danny still erases peoples memories of his reveal, but leaves out the new members of Team Phantom (because if he has to remember the road-trip from hell, so does everybody else), and it also doesn’t work on Valerie (or Tootie) since they were in Jimmy’s universe at the time, which is going to be Fun for Danny to deal with when she gets back. Timmy, Chester and AJ are also immune, due to AJ secretly making the three of them immune to memory wipes in general so Timmy wouldn’t have to forget his fairies or go through what happened in the first Wishology again. He would’ve done the same with Elmer and Sanjay, but he didn’t get the chance.
After all that, season five is a return to the norm, other than dealing with the new character dynamics, the Vlad situation, and all the Fairly Oddparents stuff leaking in. I haven’t really worked out all the specifics, since I sort of got caught up in the season four stuff.
Note: For obvious reasons, I cannot actually reboot Danny Phantom and/or Fairly Oddparents. Unless I come up with ideas later on down the line, or other people decide to add their own ideas, this is what you get.
(@phandomphightclub, I did it!)

Hypothetical plot outline for a possible pilot episode of a “Ghost Rider” TV series (don’t mind me, just stretching out my writing muscles):
We start off exactly where we last saw Robbie Reyes. He leaves SHIELD with the Darkhold for an unknown world. He buries the Darkhold and says, “The debt is paid” before opening another portal, this one leading back to Los Angeles. There’s a close-up on the buried book, indicating that this will come back at some point.
Title credits.
Several months later, Robbie is back to being a mechanic. We see him  go through his normal routine (fixing cars, picking his brother up from school, on and on) and for the most part, he’s left the vigilante life. However, he still gets urges to go after evil people and to deal with the urges, he becomes a recluse. It’s to the point where Gabe Reyes says he’s concerned about him and that he needs to find friends or else he’ll go insane from isolation.
We then cut to another series regular on the show, Sister Sara Yang, a nun from the UK who has arrived in Los Angeles. It’s revealed she’s part of a special sect of the Catholic church that deals with supernatural foes and that she’s some sort of monster hunter. Sara contacts the Los Angeles branch and asks them to point her to the Ghost Rider. The head of the Los Angeles branch says, “Why did the Pope choose you of all people to deal with the Ghost Rider?”, to which Sara says, “Penance”.
It’s to imply that Sara has some sort of dark past, that kind of stuff.
Going back to Robbie, he’s visited by a high school friend (and another series regular), Hamilton Slade. Hamilton is a computer technician and one of the only people who still talks to Robbie, despite him becoming a recluse. Hamilton is concerned about him and Robbie says he shouldn’t be. Hamilton then drops the topic and says that he’s come by to invite Robbie over for his birthday party. Robbie says he’ll think about it and Hamilton leaves.
That night, the Ghost Rider spirit warns Robbie that it senses something strange about Hamilton. Robbie tries to ignore it but eventually decides to attend the party.
At the party, Robbie meets another series regular, Lisa Ortega (loosely based on Lisa from the All-New Ghost Rider books). In this version, she’s another high school friend who is now a lawyer trying her hand at politics. It’s pretty obvious from their interactions that Robbie had a huge crush on her in high school and it’s still there to this day. Think...Barry and Iris, or Fitz and Simmons.
Lisa says she was invited by Hamilton and that she’s glad to see Robbie after not having seen him for years. The conversation is going fine until they’re approached by a couple of douchebags who are angry at her politics. Robbie tells them to back off and the douchebags leave before the Rider comes out. Robbie excuses himself in order to regain control.
Going back to Sara, she’s staying at a motel, studying all she can about Robbie Reyes. Suddenly, someone knocks at the door. Sara answers it and we see another series regular, Danny Ketch. Danny, one of the previous Ghost Riders, is an old man now. Sara asks why he’s here and Danny says that she needs to leave town and that he’s done with the Ghost Rider. Sara says she’s here for a man named Robbie Reyes and Danny leaves, intending to seek out Reyes himself.
During the conversation, we learn that at some point in the 1990s, Danny lost his mind as the Rider and something really bad happened that forced him to retire. We’ll learn what the awful event was later on the show.
We then cut to Gabe Reyes at school. He bonds with the new girl at school (and another series regular), Alejandra Jones, who will eventually become the All-New Ghost Rider. Alejandra is quiet and detached from everyone else. When Gabe asks her about her home life, Alejandra angrily storms off.
Back to Lisa, the douchebags who tried to harass her are planning some sort of smear campaign in order to ruin her career. The lead douchebag says that first, they’ll try to intimidate her into quitting the campaign. The attempt goes wrong when Lisa spots them and tries to contact the police. This results in one of the douchebags opening fire, hitting Lisa’s brother who was hiding behind her.
Robbie hears about the shooting from Gabe and Hamilton. Filled with anger, Robbie finally decides to let the Rider out. He goes out to the douchebags’ hideout and we get a glorious sequence where Robbie murders all of them. It’s mostly to highlight the Ghost Rider’s strengths, such as the metal chain whip, the fire, and the car.
After the massacre, we get a montage of the other characters reacting to Robbie’s rampage. Danny Ketch sees it on the news and says, “Well I’ll be damned...there really is a new Rider”. Gabe sees it and is visibly disturbed. Alejandra Jones watches, slightly amused. Lisa Ortega watches in awe and is somewhat satisfied seeing her brother’s murderers be torn apart. Hamilton talks to Gabe about how cool it is to see the Rider at work.
The next morning, Robbie talks to Lisa and says he’s sorry about what happened to her brother. They hug it out and, as Lisa leaves, Sara Yang shows up. She introduces herself before saying, “We need to talk...Ghost Rider”. Robbie looks at her, puzzled, and the episode ends.
Just kidding. We then get a post-credit where we see Alejandra Jones, sitting alone in her room. We learn that she’s into witchcraft and is talking with ghosts. As she talks about her day and how crap her home life is, we see that the ghost she’s been talking to is Eli Morrow, Robbie’s uncle (Eli is another series regular in the show). Episode truly ends with that reveal.
Future plot details
1) Sara’s dark past is a tie-in to Agents of SHIELD. It’s revealed her sin is that she murdered her abusive father before running away from home. Her father is revealed to be Alistair Fitz, making her Leo Fitz’s half-sister.
2) Danny becomes Robbie’s mentor while Sara becomes Robbie’s sidekick (along the lines of Bucky and Falcon)
3) Lisa is the main love interest, unless Daisy comes into the show later on
4) Alejandra Jones eventually dies this season but is resurrected by Eli Morrow, like in the All-New Ghost Rider books. Eli’s ghost bonds to her spirit, which is how she can become a Ghost Rider.
5) Danny’s dark past is related to Johnny Blaze’s disappearance.
6) Hamilton Slade is revealed to be a descendant of Carter Slade, the Ghost Rider of the 1800s. That’s why the Ghost Rider sensed something strange about Hamilton.
7) Eli-as-Alejandra Jones is the main villain of season one.
8) Series regulars: Robbie Reyes, Gabe Reyes, Alejandra Jones, Eli Morrow, Sister Sara Yang, Danny Ketch, Hamilton Slade, Lisa Ortega

The last one with no real title or working title, but this too would have been a chapter story.
This story is just the idea that when Derek came to town and visited his uncle in long term care, he happened to enter a different room out of pure curiosity. AKA what if he met his pack before becoming Alpha. If he had someone to talk to during all of this and how having at least SOME sort of support could have changed a lot of the outcomes in the series.
He knew Laura was dead, but he couldn’t go out looking for her body. Not with the police in the woods. He didn’t get there in time to help her, much less bury her. Instead, he went to visit Peter. Another one of Derek’s failures.
On his way to his uncle’s room, he happens across Erica’s room. She was there because of a horrible episode and her mother demanded it. It is awkward at first, Erica being attracted to him and afraid of him, while Derek is trying to look cool while panicking on the inside like a real man. Eventually, they start to talk and he explains that he was on his way to see his uncle and for some reason, just talking to her lets the flood gaits loose. He tells her a lot, not everything, but the general jest of why his uncle is in the hospital and who he is and his sister’s death. Nothing about him being a werewolf or anything, but it does build a connection between the two. After he spills his guts, Erica does as well, about her frustrations with all that is happening to her and how her mom is treating her. They talk throughout the night, feeling lighter when daybreak comes. Also, Erica pointing out how scarily good he was at hiding from the nurses.
As she grows more comfortable with him, she flirts, but not seriously. And he teases in return. It’s a relaxed relationship. He sees a lot of Laura in her and it’s a part of home that he isn’t willing to let go of.
A short conversation after Derek meets and deals with Scott and Stiles:
Were they cute?
Not my type.
Don’t like guys?
Jailbait.
And after the party and him dropping off Alison maybe:
“Well, hello handsome,” Erica tried to purr, but her voice cracked midway through. Though that didn’t stop her from continuing. “What brings such a man to my rooms this late at night?” She lounged against the hospital bed with a tired smirk.
Derek offered a small smile as he held up a small bag of chocolates.
Erica smiled widely and made grabby hands at the bad. “You are a wonderful man. Gimme.”
Laughing, Derek tossed her the bag and sat in his chair beside her. “You’re looking beautiful tonight, Erica. Special plans?”
Erica ducked her head, pretending to have her attention focused on the chocolates solely, but the shy smile on her face was unmistakable. “I thought I should put a bit more effort in how I look since I was having gentlemanly company tonight,” she teased. “Not you of course. Someone really handsome. And tall. And handsome.”
Just having him around boosts her spirits, even with all the shit happening to her. She feels as if she is allowed to try and be happy. And she does the same for him in return. She gets worried when he doesn’t show up at least every other day. And even laughs at some of things he tells her (though omitting things) that he’s done to Scott and Stiles, calling him a creep at the same time.
Before Derek has to go into hiding for a bit, he risks coming to see her, telling her what has happened. Maybe telling her werewolf stuff and her making a teen novel joke and asking if he’s in love with her.
Erica wasn’t the only one that Derek met. Before some idiots (Scott mainly) told the cops he was the killer, he had met a young man that jogged through his preserve every other day. Boyd. He doesn’t know the guy’s full name, but it wasn’t like they talked much. Sometimes Derek joined him on the runs. Sometimes he would see Boyd walking home and Derek would offer him a ride. He wasn’t sure if they were friends, but it felt like it. Especially when Boyd found him outside of the school:
He didn’t know how he survived being impaled through his back. Boyd found him nearly healed on the ground and got him to his car without a word (probably on his way home from work). Derek’s keys were in Boyd’s hands before Derek could protest (not that he would because some reason he trusted Boyd) and the young man was driving him away from the school.
“Are you okay?” Boyd finally asked after a few minutes of driving.
“Okay as I can be,” Derek forced out before coughing harshly. “What were you even doing out there?”
Boyd was silent for a few minutes before hesitantly answering. “I felt as if I should be there,” he said as if he wasn’t sure of himself.
Derek stared at him for a moment before letting out a weak chuckle. “Well I’m glad for that.”
And he was. If Boyd didn’t find him. He probably would have been killed by the rogue/his uncle or the cops would have found him and he’d be locked up. Even after the manhunt, he could still rely on seeing Boyd run in the preserve. He was surprised when the man offered him a place to stay. He did decline, not wanting to drag Boyd into this, but they still spent time together. And Derek tells him ALL about werewolves.
He still tried to visit Erica, telling her what was going on. Telling her about Boyd. She later searches Boyd out when she’s at school during all of this. She doesn’t go to Stiles, too self-conscious to do that. They make quick friends and share info about Derek and what is happening. They are also upset that they weren’t there for him with the attack and having to kill his own uncle.
With Peter now dead, Derek wanted to leave and stay for many reasons. He avenged his sister and family’s deaths, but he wanted to run. Derek knew he had to leave soon. Kate’s father was just as large of a bastard as she was, maybe even worse. And as a new alpha, it would be best if he did. He needed a pack and he would have no chance of one in Beacon Hills, not when they would all be hunted down for sport. He had two people he wanted to offer the chance to. But still part of him wanted to stay because this was home. As much as he wished it wasn’t.
He would offer the chance to change to Erica and Boyd. Erica snapped it up quickly, while Boyd took a few days to think about it before agreeing. He was already feeling more grounded with the pair of them. He did meet Issac before too. When he needed his sister buried. He didn’t get to know him much, but there was an interest there. Maybe a need to protect.
That boy Jackson, on the other hand, had no idea on when to give up. Derek didn’t want to turn him. If anyone he wanted to turn…well. But Jackson did help them. The kid was brave and wanted a place in this world. Derek knew that better than anyone. So he offered the bite. With stipulations that is.
“What?” Jackson shouted, outraged. The muscles of his jaw clenched tightly as he glared at Derek. “You can’t be serious!” His anger wasn’t surprising. Derek’s stipulations were a bit harder for a teenager to pay, but they were simple. If Jackson wanted the bite, he’d have to come with Derek and be apart of his pack.
“I’m leaving by the end of the week. Give me your answer by then.” Derek kept his face carefully blank. He didn’t want Jackson to choose the bite, but part of him did. Whether it was the alpha part of him or not, Derek knew Jackson could be a great werewolf.
“But…I…” Jackson tried to argue, but his words died on his tongue. He wanted to complain about how unfair Derek was being.
“You want power,” Derek put simply. “And you can have it. But you’ll have to be a part of my pack for that. Wolves aren’t meant to be alone.”
Derek would be lying if he wasn’t surprised that Jackson showed up the day before Derek was going to leave. He wasn’t as haughty as usually. He was actually reserved and looked like he wanted nothing more than to crawl back into himself. Jackson had a stipulation of his own. He wanted his parents to know where he was going so they can transfer him to a new school for wherever he was going. Derek agreed.
The idea of biting Issac came from Erica. She had noticed a long time ago that there was something going on with that kid and nothing good. She asked Derek to look into it and what he found wasn’t good. The boy jumped on the offer, especially after knowing that they would be leaving Beacon Hills.
“He is as cute as a puppy. We need a puppy. We’re getting a puppy.” They got a puppy.
Issac becoming a favorite with how well he takes to being a werewolf. Quickly becoming the best out of them at it.
Derek had offered Scott a place with them. Scott declined, so Derek warned him about Gerard and gave him is number if he was ever needed. He really should have given his number to Stiles instead. Scott wasn’t the brightest in thinking ahead. Derek’s number was quickly ‘lost’. Derek wasn’t able to say goodbye to Stiles, but left a gift of thanks on the edge of Stiles’ bed. A red hoodie. Maybe returning his hoodie? At Erica’s persistence.
Maybe a month in, Stiles now has Derek’s number and is bitching him out for just leaving like that and not even trying to leave a line of communication. But after getting yelled at enough, they start having conversations like somewhat normal people. Stiles keeps him updated and Derek tries to answer what he can for Stiles. Though some questions are strange and awkward. “Why do you need to know about mating?”
“Scott.” Which could be a lie.
The betas calling Stiles little red. “Lil Red is calling!”
Time passed in their new home that was all the way on the east coast. Derek bought a house and is teaching the four of them about being werewolves and they are all going with it pretty well. Jackson still keeps in touch regularly with his parents and friends, who Derek learn are Danny and Lydia. Erica keeps in touch with her mother, telling her all about the ‘new treatment’ and how amazing it is and the new school. Boyd has regular calls with his family. Isaac, however, doesn’t talk to his father and on those family call day he and Derek go off on a sort of trip for themselves. They talk a lot. Each having someone they loved abuse them.
Then Peter shows up, out of the blue. Alive. Derek tries to kill him again. Peter says that he only wants to be with his family and Derek not believing a word he’s saying. But the fighting does end. Derek didn’t want to kill him again. Not truly. But it didn’t help with Peter said “I killed Laura and you killed me. We’re even.” Not even. And with Derek not liking the man, neither did the others. Jackson hated him the most out of the four betas.
But like most incurable diseases, Peter didn’t go away. They had to deal with him and slowly he started to carve his place into the pack to where even Jackson was almost fine having him around. Peter brought news of Beacon Hills, traveling there more often than anyone wanted, but having him gone was a blessing at times. Derek knew that Peter was worth more alive than dead, but that didn’t stop him from tripping the man down a flight of stairs on accident.
On Laura’s anniversary of her death, Peter stayed by Derek’s side all day. Completely silent, until they separated to go to bed. Peter said sorry and somehow things became easier between him and Derek. Yes, Peter always tries to piss Derek off and stand up to his orders, but the tension between them eased.
It was almost two years before Derek’s pack returned to Beacon Hills. And that was only because of an S.O.S. call. The Alpha Pack and Jennifer Blake were too much for Scott and his ragtag team to handle. A call from Stiles had them all packing up and returning home.
At this point, more Sterek happens because only so much can happen over a phone. There is affection, more on Stiles part, but Derek kept any possibilities at bay cause he’s UNDERAGED. But being there, with a now adult, is different. Stiles has grown, taking into his spark.
Having void!Stiles in this would be great too. Telling Stiles secrets. Derek obsession. Cause I want it that way.
A possible scene within the story that would have just been funny:
The possibility of werewolves getting drunk on normal alcohol was low unless there was a pack mate or two, more than likely human, that decided to take it upon themselves to help their friends bask in alcoholic bliss. That thought process, and several experimental batches was what brought the current events into fruition. Drunk teens, human and werewolf alike, spread across the flat. It was like watching a bunch of toddlers trying to walk. Derek didn’t know if he should laugh or yell at them for drinking in his apartment. He could get into serious trouble if they were caught.
“Derek!” the barely functioning group cheered when they spotted him in the doorway.
Were they even able to legally drink? Would that even stop them?
“You should join us,” Isaac popped up, bottle held loosely in his hand. For some reason that sent Erica into a fit of laughter.
If he called the station, would he be held legally responsible? That’s when he noticed a certain brunette poking his head around the couch. His flushed cheeks only made the freckles that littered his skin pop even more. A smile overtook the young man’s face as he grappled up the back of the couch only to make grabby hands at Derek.
“D’rek,” Stiles slurred, laughing a bit. “Come ‘ere.”
Was it too late to just leave?
He could feel the entirety of the pack staring at him, waiting-surprisingly patiently for drunk teenagers- for him to do something. He stared at Stiles, narrowing his eyes as he tried to focus on him instead of the unnerving stares. “…No,” he grunted as he swung his duffle bag higher onto his shoulder and finally entered the room. Even as the door screeched shut, he could still hear Stiles’ whine over the grating sound. He did his best to ignore his name being whined repeatedly as he walked past the group.
That’s all folks.

To answer a question from the book summary: who remembers about Gillian?
Well...
Simon Torquill, obviously. Evening. Raysel. Sylvester, Luna, and the staff of Shadowed Hills 20 years ago. Most of Toby’s allies, including Quentin and his parents. The Lordens. The Luidaeg. Several of the night haunts. Brucer and probably some other people from Home. The SF police department. Literally any one who was listening at the elf-shot conclave.
In short, there’s a lot of people who know about Gillian.
Anyways, onto the main story.
Does Faerie not have therapists? If you can go away for a hundred years and come back fine, you probably don’t need therapists. Danny is the closest Toby’s got.
It’s good that Tybalt doesn’t blame Toby for her mother’s actions.
Back to therapy with Danny and Quentin after catching the flying pig-hedgehogs. Point of clarification: deposing Rhys is not treason because Toby never swore to him.
“No longer the custom to greet those of no family name with the name of their species” - Is that why Simon called May “Milady Fetch” last book? And mixed bloods and changelings would have it rough. “Milady Siren-Sea Wight-Banshee” for the false Queen?
Nolan seems to be settling in well.
Dianda would be an excellent mother-in-law, just saying.
Hi May! Sounds like both Jazz and Tybalt have major depression and PTSD from last book. Poor Jazz, poor Tybalt.
Hi Cliff!
And Cliff has turned to stalking now? At least Miranda knows that she’s stepped too far.
At least Gillian is an adult now and can visit her estranged mother if she wants to, assuming she survives this. Poor Gillian.
Yes, May usually doesn’t get to go on field trips. She’s not missing this one.
Poor Raj. The fallout from The Brightest Fell is hitting everyone hard.
Has Arden actually talked to Toby about shifting loyalties before, or is that what Toby thinks is coming next?
I really hope this isn’t Simon’s work.
Toby has a fan! I knew there must be fae out there who look up to her!
Well, those marshwater charms aren’t suspicious at all... At least Jocelyn isn’t affected. I wonder if it’s like iron for the fae.
Hi Bridget! Who else in the cast of characters are we going to get today? Berkeley means Walther and probably Jack the grad student, and then maybe April? Or Mags?
Nicely done on the magic, Toby. I wonder if the red hair is the color of fox fur?
Don’t swallow glass, Toby, it’s not good for you.
Poor Gillian.
OK, they found a weird pocket dimension. Not what I was expecting.
Do Quentin and May see something different than Toby? She sees only one house.
Weird chicken house is weird.
Confirmed that April is no longer the Countess of Tamed Lightning. I guess she could take over if her mothers wanted to take a long vacation.
“Get your fuzzy butts over here” - Toby, that’s still not how we talk about royalty. I hope Shade will be amused.
Is cinnamon Jocelyn’s magic scent? It’s certainly not close to Simon’s.
Hi Arden! What do you mean, you’re not supposed to be here? Not even going to Annwn triggered that response.
So the fae did come to North America before the Europeans, or at least before the 19th century.
So Shade rules the Court of Golden Cats, which isn’t really part of the Court of Dreaming Cats. This really doesn’t jive with how Tybalt and Colleen were in London.
Jocelyn, I had such high hopes for you.
I love Toby pretending to be Jocelyn’s mom and I don’t know why.
Jocelyn, no. Don’t do this.
Weird house #2. I’m over 1/3 of the way through this book, why has no one brought up the Luidaeg yet?
That must be terrifying for Marlis - “hey sis, can you check on the false queen who is still sleeping in your basement? No reason.”
I bet it’s some sort of illusion magic, making Toby think it’s the false queen, like Oleander did. Or maybe Simon could grab the false queen’s blood to do magic.
Yeah, that’s not Gillian.
So that’s not another doppleganger...
Baobhan Sidhe, that was mentioned in April’s interlude.
Hi Tybalt! And Toby’s covered in blood again.
Are Baobhan Sidhe Maeve’s bloodworkers? Or does Titania or Oberon get two bloodworking races? Water can be used for illusion magic, sometimes.
The last time they couldn’t get in contact with Dean, Evening had returned. That’s not good.
So Toby got attacked by a vampire, fun.
Has Goldengreen become a replacement Home? Marcia is good. I remain curious about how much the war against the merlins is common knowledge, she seems to know a lot about it.
Marcia, can you lend Toby some non-blood-covered clothes? Please?
The “long lost estranged sister” card can only played once, Toby. I guess if you ever need to explain August to them, she can be your cousin, the daughter of your “Uncle” Simon.
Fuck off, Miranda.
She has a fae-repealing thorn, what the hell?
She’s her grandmother??? And Janet - that’s Janet Carter who broke Maeve’s Ride, for sure. Amandine’s mother is Janet Carter, makes sense. And completely josses the idea of any non-Three-derived fae, ok. Everyone’s fae or human or both, no aliens here.
May’s right, there’s something disturbing about Janet’s relationship with Cliff, her granddaughter’s ex-fiancee, and the father of her great-granddaughter.
Clearly Janet hasn’t been paying attention to recent news.
It sounds like Amandine went with the Torquill boys to California, if Janet’s been there long enough that Gilad’s parents knew about the spot. She followed Amandine, after Amandine followed the twins.
Dammit Toby, you need to tell Quentin his mother was a changeling. This is Sylvester all over again.
So breaking the Ride led to Faerie being sealed away? So Janet breaks the ride, Maeve curses Janet, she leaves?, and Oberon seals the deeper lands and leaves as well. Titania is not mentioned at this point in the story.
Or, the Luidaeg implies she’s still there for the Ride? At least, Titania is not implied to be missing at this point.
Tam Lin was going to go somewhere - or, he was going to die to feed Faerie, and then Maeve had to go instead, except it wasn’t death for her. If humans are sealed in deeper Faerie, that might kill them but not one of the Three. And then Maeve was gone, but Titania wasn’t or Faerie would have been thrown out of whack before the Ride.
So what did Maeve do to Titania in response to the Luidaeg’s binding?
Janet is reminding me of August here.
Tam Lin would get a peaceful death, I hope Maeve isn’t actually dead.
Yeah, it’s implied that Maeve could come back one day.
So there isn’t a geass on the world to make it forget about Dawn. Toby remembers that Dawn existed! Not enough to ask about why Evening pretended Dawn was her sister, and clearly neither Patrick nor Sylvester are bothering to ask why. So who killed Dawn?
Who constructed the old knowe?
“...whose only job is constructing life-threatening situations.” Sounds right, Quentin.
Hi vampire lady!
And May and Quentin are elf-shot. Again.
Poor Gillian, elf-shot again.
Yes, please, go get Dianda. Toby has so many allies these days.
How old are these kids? Gillian was what, four, when Toby went into the pond? She’s out fourteen years later, and it’s been four years since then. She should be twenty two or so. If Jocelyn’s the same age, Home closed when she was eighteen. Toby went to Home when she was twenty five, but Dare and Manuel were twelve, I think. Jocelyn wasn’t too young, in that case. I don’t think Home had an age limit.
DUGAN’S NOT DEAD??? My God.
Hi Kennis! Toby has a new ally.
Hi Dianda, Patrick and Sylvester. Good to see you all awake, unharmed and ready to help.
So is Dawn Evening’s changeling granddaughter turned pureblood? I’m not getting the sense that Evening ever had changeling kids. Maybe Dawn is a former changeling and Evening’s daughter?
ARE YOU SERIOUS? They’re ALL human descended? It’s not just Maida, Aethlin is descended in part from a human? And Septiminus is Evening’s grandson, so either he or his parent was a changeling-turned-pureblood? It’s not just the twins? Unless the family name came from Glynis? And Dugan too!
The Merrows’ Firstborn is the child of Titania and a human, but not all Merrow are Lordens, so there’s another human in the Saltmist family’s history. Toby, why aren’t you reacting to this? Gillian, I know. But this is important!!
Where are all these hope chests?
Oh, poor Gillian. Poor Toby.
Is Dugan working for Evening? Or maybe Simon?
Plasedon’tbeSimonpleasedon’tbeSimon - ok, it’s Dugan, or maybe Simon pretending to be Dugan.
Whoops, there he is again. Played your last card there, Dugan.
At least Cliff is taking the lies well. I’m not sure Gillian’s going to understand the whole Amandine-August-Simon-Evening thing.
Hi Siwan! Toby, if you ever piss off Arden too much, you can hang out in Portland. It’ll be fine.
Hi Jolgier! This should be a good solution. Though shouldn’t Shade take charge? Well, seven years should be enough to put Raj on the throne.
Maybe Dean can make Goldengreen into the new Home. Marcia’s already halfway there.
Interlude: Suffer a Sea-change
Oh poor Gillian.
This is taking place right before Christmas, that sucks.
Yes, punch Jocelyn in the throat. You are going to like Dianda, maybe you can hang out at Goldengreen with Dean.
She doesn’t remember the Luidaeg at all.
OK, whatever Miranda’s line needs to do, it’s related to the fae blood they have. Gillian isn’t bound why whatever Amandine, August or Toby need to do. Is it taking Maeve’s place in eternal sleep?
Poppy gets to go fight spiders, apparently. Good to know she’s doing well.
Hi Firtha, sorry you’re dead. You seem cool.
Oh poor Toby and Gillian. She never knew how much Toby cares for her.
I do appreciate having Gillian’s POV on all this. Wonder what’s going to happen when she gets the cliffsnotes version of the entire series?
Gillian, you are the best.
Hello Miranda, it is very creepy you married the ex-fiance of your granddaughter and the father of your great-granddaughter. I think you wanted a second chance to raise your daughter since Amandine pushed you away.
Oh shit, she’s dead again.
Wait, no, she’s ok. I think the skin is invisible outside of Faerie but she doesn’t know it yet.
Aw, Poppy’s apprenticed to the Luidaeg!
Yep, the Luidaeg is terrifying but Gillian doesn’t have the old tales to know what the rest of Faerie thinks.
Yeah, Gillian can’t outrun the elfshot by being Selkie for a hundred years because I’m pretty sure there won’t be Selkies in another year, depending on what the bargain is.
Look Miranda, you’re getting off easy at the moment. You’re also acting like a homophobic mother whose daughter just came out and can’t reconcile your hate with your love.
Gillian, you’ll love hanging out with Quentin and May and Jazz. It’ll be great.
I can’t fault Elizabeth Ryan for always having a drink in her hand.
Yeah, I think the Selkies that currently have skins will become Roane or Roane-equivalent - no more passing the skins down the line. Anyone who doesn’t have a skin is going to turn human or die.
This is a good ending point.
One more book to come.
