Semi regular reminder for cosplayers to check on your coloured contact lenses, they will tend to dry up in their cases if left unattended for more than a few months
You can safely rehydrate them one single time, a second time at risk of giving yourself the kind of eyeball problems we do not have ways of fixing, and Should Never Attempt It Again
Wash the lenses every time you open the cases to prevent anything from growing on them, change the solution and rinse down the case with the solution, Do Not Soap Your Contact Lens Case
And… I hate that this is necessary, but:
There should not be ANYTHING but your contact lens in the solution
No glitter
No makeup
No little flecks of ANYTHING you wouldn’t want to rub into Your Actual Literal Eye Where These Live
I am still haunted by the memory of helping a friend go take care of their contacts (I’ve worn prescription ones for years), they complained their colour contacts hurt
Their case AND SOLUTION was fucking full of glitter, not even powder, the little flakes. It only then occurred to me that people who do not get contacts from a professional are not necessarily told to keep them clean
They had no reason to think this might be a problem
Note: If Your Contacts Hurt Take Them Out Immediately And Wash Them. Your Eyes Are Fucking Delicate. If They Are Torn At All Those Are Trash Now.
If you cannot afford more colour contacts you REALLY cannot afford eye surgery or prescription glasses or potentially permanent vision loss

I put futuristic technological contact lenses into my eyes atop regular contact lenses but they were extremely irritating so I took them out but one of my eyes turned milky blue and puffy and the iris became slitted like Voldemort’s.
