I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone talk about the parallels between Annabeth and Magnus’ parents. Like the goddess of war strategy and the god of peace? Greek virgin goddess and Norse god of male fertility? Literally Annabeth and Magnus should oppose each other on paper but in reality they’re the only Chases NOT doing that.

what if the dead could talk to the other dead

but like from different pantheons

(i know im not making any scene, roll with me for a sec tho)

Magnus and Annabeth walk past Jason's grave in New Rome (during 9 from the Nine Worlds) because she wanted to show Magnus all her friends

Annabeth gets all sad

and Magnus just looks straight at the grave and says 'Yo you must be Jason'

Annabeth thinks her cousin is trying to lighten the mood. A pause.

'Yeah, Annabeth's told me all about you." another pause.

"Oh im her cousin, I came down here to spend the week from Boston." pause. Magnus looks over to Annabeth, who is staring at him.

"Nah, she can't see you."

"I don't think she can hear you"

"Ha, no Im dead to."

"Yeah well -" (goes on to explain Valhalla and the Norse Gods while Annabeth is just staring, dumbfounded)

"Yeah, pretty cool. Stopped the end of the world last year too."

"Yo really?"

"Magnus." Magnus looks over at Annabeth.

"What the fuck?"

So I was listening to your Keep It In The Family podcast on the Chase family (incredibly well done), and I noticed tat you said Annabeth was for in 2001? Wouldn't she be canonically born in 1993 according to the PJO books? I know RR messes up his timelines constantly so I was just wondering which one you were using as reference for years and stuff.

!spoilers (?) for Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard!

head cannon:

Annabeth, keeping hope that the world doesn't end in her lifetime, records videos talking about camp, studying at New Rome and just thoughts in her mind, leaving them in her will for Magnus.

Not that her intention is to make him sad about never ageing, but more of a way to remember her, because it could be a millennia before Ragnarok starts, and everyone wants to be remembered.

Another idea is that Annabeth started these as a journal on the Argo 2, but adapted the idea into a coping mechanism after she discovered Magnus was dead (there's only one or two from that time because she found out he was 'alive' just a couple days later), witch then turned back into a journal, directed at Magnus with all the things she might want to say to him.

Because even if he is 'alive', he can just visit her all the time, and writing letters isn't the same as talking in person.

Moments before disaster struck, soft babbles and tiny feet smacking against the floor were unmistakable to the ears. While your husband "chases" the fourteen month old baby who's wobbly on their feet, you're finishing up some work.

As of recent, your baby has become a better walker, they still crawl around and wobble a little bit, but they're walking none the less. From their perspective, those tiny little legs make them unstoppable. In order to avoid being caught by their daddy, they must "run" away.

"I go get you!!!" He says in his little baby voice, watching his baby stop to look at him with a gummy smile that contains around four or five teeth.

Baby quickly turns around, their little legs carrying them as fast as they'll go and suddenly they bump into the wooden door frame that leads into your bedroom.

The bump was pretty loud and you just know that had to hurt. The joy on your baby's face soon turns into a little pouty frown and baby starts crying out in pain.

"Uh oh! Let daddy see." He rushes over to pick up his chubby little baby. Your husband examines baby's forehead which has a little knot forming on it.

The hollering gets louder as he tries to comfort the infant.

"It's okay. Look at daddy!" He tries making silly faces which distracts the baby's one track mind for a few seconds. They remember what they were doing previously and starts up the tears again.

"Mommy!!!" He yells out; unsure of what to do. He's slightly panicking seeing his baby in so much stress and pain like this... maybe you'll know what to do.

Relief floods through him when you come and take the little baby out of his arms.

"[baby's name] got a little boo boo on their forehead. I was chasing them and they bumped into the frame over there."

Baby stops crying when they're in your arms. You giggle softly at how quickly baby changes up.

"Did you just play your daddy? Yes you did! Oh yes you did." You ask in a soft baby voice. Baby starts to clap and giggle, you're sure they don't even grasp what you're saying.

"I did not get played by a baby!"

"Yes you did. Their boo boo was not as bad as you made it out to be." As soon as your husband tries to argue back, Baby has some words of their own:

"DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA," Baby says with a mouth full of fingers.

"That's exactly what I was saying. Daddy got played." Your husband stands in your room completely dumbfounded by what just happened while watching you walk out of the room with baby in your arms.
