yknow suffering in the sulfur pits and joining a cult doesn’t sound so bad anymore if it means i have a chance to be in per’kele’s presence….
Day 23 - Invite
Should've just put posters like this around Prehevil and set up a kissing booth but for "cult and torment" sign ups tbh. Would've pulled in waaay more members.

Notes From My First-Ever Women’s Fest
For me, the sudden shift was how little I stood out.
There were women with body hair, everywhere. Pit hair, puss hair, nip hair, everything. Women whose nails were short, whose faces were bare, and whose stomachs rolled visibly and comfortably. Just like me! And there were so many lesbians and bisexual women. Quite possibly the majority of attendees were women-for-women.
In one moment that I’ll remember fondly, we were eating in a group of about 5 or 6 women. One of them said, “Maybe I should’ve gotten utensils, I’m just eating with my hands.” Another said “Well, that’s what fingers are for, right?” and every single person at that table synched into a gay hivemind and simultaneously went “Well…”
It was like my childhood dream of going to a lesbian summer camp had come true. I was finally somewhere where I didn’t sense that unspoken distance between myself and the heterosexual people around me

Lemme tell ya somethin' / If you didn't come to party / Don't bother knockin' on my door / I got a lion in my pocket / And baby he's ready to roar, yeah yeah / Everybody's got a bomb / We could all die here today / But before I'll let that happen / I'll dance my life away

The only thing I’m unsure abt when it comes to visiting women’s land/festivals is the camping aspect. I know this varies ofc, but the majority seem to be camping oriented and for someone who has no experience and no supplies it’s pretty daunting. So that aspect plus the fact that a lot of them are a ways away from me makes me not want to go — my choices are rent some supplies (which when you don’t know what you’re doing, do you know what to look for?) and either drive all the way there (an adventure in and of itself) or fly (the prices!!). Between both of those things and the fact I have very minimal time off doesn’t make the whole endeavor very appealing.
Camping will always seem daunting if you've never camped. In my opinion, renting camping equipment isn't cost effective. The cost of renting the equipment twice is probably the cost of the equipment. Many things you can borrow or get from local community free exchanges (buy nothing/everything free groups). Most important is you'll need a tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat/cot if you can't sleep directly on the forest floor (I just use a yoga mat), and a flashlight. Everything else is just what you would pack for vacation. I would suggest finding a campsite near you and doing 2 consecutive nights there to get a feel for camping and see what additional things you'd like.
I've mostly lived on coasts and work low paying jobs so I relate to the events being far and not having much vacation time. I prioritize these events so when I'm saving up vacation time it's for this. Even if this isn't your top priority I would suggest to attend at least once (the sooner, the better). There are some events where I only go every few years for that reason. For the distance, you do gotta drive. Carpooling and caravanning make it easier. You can find women to carpool with through the event itself through groups and the organizers. That's also where you can borrow equipment. If you prefer to fly saving or getting a card that gets you miles are probably you're best options.
Maybe after reading this 2024 isn't your year to get to a fest but I hope to see you in 2025 at least.

thinking about this very hypothetical child of Neptune (who I am definitely not thinking about writing a fic around) and she'll have to be a girl because of the established pattern (if you don't understand, just think about it for a min) and thinking about how she could turn fresh water into salt water with just a touch, and how she'd speak with an almost monotone, until she's really really fucking angry and then the cadence of her voice pitches and twists like the thrashing of the waves, and how her eyes would be almost as dark as Nico's, a dark blue-gray of storm clouds, an always clear threat, and how she'd be able to blend in easily with other people, appearing sweet almost, with a subtle air of danger around her that people ignore until it's too late, and how she'd rip the blood from someone's veins without batting an eye, and how she'd stand behind Percy encouraging him to let go, to give into the violent nature of the ocean in their blood, to cave to the riptide, to stop fighting and let everyone else drown.
If they wanted to reach the surface, maybe they should've swam harder.

Harmonic convergence
The first night of the Capitol City Film Festival (right here in River City) brought us the documentary "CAMP RiCSTAR", which will be a hard act to follow, indeed.
The film tells story of the Eric "RicStar" Winter Music Therapy Camp in East Lansing, which, for 20 years, has allowed people with disabilities to unleash their inner musicians
I can't claim complete neutrality here. Sharon and I have strong connections to "CAMP RICSTAR":
The movie was produced by our friends, Dick and Judy Winter, who, by the way, created and nurtured the camp in honor of their son Eric, who was born with cerebral palsy and died in 2003 at age 12. Judy and Dick were determed to mine some good out of their tragic loss and, boy, did they strike gold.
As you can see from the photo the film is dedicated, in part, to our daughter Jessica, who died in 2002 at age 25. Jessica also had disabilities. An endowment we established in Jessica's name through the MSU School of Music provides financial support to the camp.
Lord Huron's front man makes a cameo appearance in the film, speaking not only as a musician, but as somebody who witnessed the positive, soothing effect of music on his sister.
The film already has won some big awards and is bound to win more. It's a compelling portrait of the power of music to change lives.

I just got my 2 day pass for MFR and it will be my first ever womens festival! Any tips for the fest virgin?
Bug spray and put duct tape backwards around your ankles for ticks. Ramen and eggs work for most camp meals. Bring notepads for notes and contacts and doodles. Flirt. Volunteer for workshifts. Find a way to be a part of the festival. Cry if you can, at least once.
