can you pleeeeease post your dm sexuality/gender hcs on here.... 🥺 i don't have a twitter but i wanna know. it's like a pandora's box to me now i'm like scratching at the door. let me in
heres the link 2 the thread (mild spoilers btw) ill post a transcript under the cut for ppl who dont have twitter
first off i think laios relationship to sex is super removed for like 50 reasons without even getting into his actual sexuality
he grew up in a place with very repressed ideas about sex and has a lot of fear about asserting his presence in situations
his special interest takes precedent over any social interactions he has and the level of closeness he feels towards people
he has a hard time figuring out his feelings towards other people both bc hes autistic and bc he has freaky deviantart fetishes that make sex in his mind a very abstract concept <- this one is me projecting mostly
that aside, i feel like gender-wise hes attracted to ppl so infrequently it may as well be entirely case-by-case
the idea of him being gay appeals to me from the 'raised with traditional values he Does Not fit into/hasnt begun to question it yet' perspective, i lauve characters who put a lot of stock into performing a role thats expected of them and fail miserably for unknown (gay) reasons
from his perspective tho i dont think he would ever really label himself anything. hes going to pride parades in the shirt+shorts Ally Fit to clap for his friends
hes also 'cis by indifference' imo... i love tmasc laios hcs it just doesnt mesh w his personal history to me. i do think hes got some kind of therian gender thing going on (not trans or nb but a secret third thing) but i cant see him changing anything abt his appearance/pronouns to accommodate that post-canon. hes just doin his thang
falin is in a similar boat for gender. i LOOVE tfem falin but the village repression thing has been bugging at me so i dont think i subscribe to it anymore (canon purist sorry) BUT if u hold that hc i am clapping and cheering regardless
instead i was propagandised to a while back and i LOVEEE the idea that being fused w a male dragon and the residual traits she has after being revived have given her a type of gender euphoria she didnt realise she was missing. a little boygirl swagger if u will
sexuality-wise i also dont think she would care to label herself, shes a lesbian by virtue of only being interested in One woman and zero other people. without marcille i do think shes still exclusively attracted to women, and i like to imagine she might experiment around a bit during her travels post-canon (pre-relationship). hearing abt it might put marcille on the news though
marcille is very simple That is a transfem lesbian. she cant get pregnant, shes obsessed w being femme and all that combined w her half-tallman struggles to be seen as 'properly feminine' by elf standards reads very transfeminine to Me. also her bookboy crush REEKS of comphet its not subtle
i think a more comfortable marcy might have the space to experiment w being elf butch like her manga boys but thats mainly self indulgence for me. utena could have saved her
senshi is gay his whole thing is abt not being able to perform dwarven masculinity to a proper standard (soft hearted, not as strong or rugged as his peers) which is like gaycoding 101. also hes a bear. homosexuality be damned by boy can work a grill
adding onto this i rly think senshi got some type of euphoria from being an elf in the changeling chapters. he was feeling himself so much i think he was using it as an outlet to have fun being a little fem and fruity without needing to justify it. do u understand
i dont have any particular opinions abt him gender-wise beyond that. his bulge is an essential part of his character design but i also saw a transmasc senshi a couple days ago that made me nod my head thoughtfully so i could go either way
chilchuck is cis and bisexual this is just canon. not even just his old man crush on senshi altho i do think thats very funny but they put his ass on a cover themed like hes in a dating sim with all the men and women in the cast and then slapped it in front of a chapter called "bicorn". i simply cant pass up that kind of overt signaling. its so fucking funny what else is there to say truly
izu to ME is a transmasc aroace lesbian (this one has the least basis in canon i just know it to be true) shes a little genderfluid with it nd uses he/she i think. i like to imagine she consistently uses masculine personal pronouns to refer to herself either way tho (boku, ore)
i think izutsumis gender/sexuality is entirely secondary in priorities to her body dysphoria. she has a lot of learning and acceptance 2 do before that kind of self discovery is on the docket and in my mind eschewing gender on some level is part of that. get sillay
shuro is cishet but at least he feels bad about it. next
kabru is a transmasc bisexual this is also practically text. his whole thing of being treated like a doll by milsiril to put in pretty dresses, plus i think it would be pretty easy for him to stealth in the west since tallmen are seen as inherently more masculine than elves
(i also think changing genders is just more common for elves. theyre androgynous enough that it wouldnt be hard and like who in their right miiiiind would be the same gender for 500 years. dwarves too)
i think he started presenting as male socially in the west but didnt need to consider medical transition until he moved to a more mixed culture where other races might see him as a woman
i dont have to explain the bisexual part. have u seen him
namari is a butch bisexual this is just canon straight up. shes not transmasc but i think the default settings for dwarven women is like 4 years of T regardless. shes a hit at all the local cruising spots despite her renfaire nerdisms i know this
and just bc im thinking abt em kiki and kaka are identical and kiki is tfem :} theyre both attracted to women but kaka is a sub so i forgive him
THATS ALL 4 NOW theres a lot of characters so i cant have thoughts abt all of them at once but i hope this was good. im right about everything forever as per usual

So I’ve been having many thoughts about Simon and Betty.
Cuz the Fionna and Cake brain rot.
And something I’ve seen brought up a few times on here is Simon’s unintended selfishness in his and Betty’s relationship turning point interactions. Namely reaching out to forgive Betty rather than apologise through the portal in “Betty” and telling Betty he wants her to stay by his side at the bus stop in the latest episode.
But I don’t think it’s unintentional selfishness. Or maybe it is, but not in the way that’s been discussed. Simon’s not looking for his own reassurance or edification - however subconsciously - in either of these situations. I think, rather, that in both cases his words are intended as reassurance, as comfort, for Betty. A compulsion to prevent her from feeling any confusion or pain or guilt at the situation they are in. And a compulsion that is just as detrimental as if he was doing it for himself.
Let me explain.
In “Betty”, in the two instances when Simon explains his plan about reaching out to Betty - both on the phone with Marcy and in the lab with Marcy, Finn, and Jake - he says he’s doing it to apologise to Betty. There’s no resentment or anger about her leaving him. He is entirely swept up in his guilt about hurting her. He wants to apologise. He wants to reach out and soothe her pain with the few moment he has left. He wants to say he’s sorry.
Except. When he sees her. The first thing Betty expresses isn’t an anger or upset at him, but an upset at herself for not being there for him. A painful confusion about why she would ever leave him. And that’s when Simon switches response. That’s when he says he forgives her for leaving. Not because that was why he called, but because he was responding to what he felt was her greatest emotional need in the moment. The response he thought would stop her feeling pain.
In the latest episode, a lot of people have pointed out that Simon goes to Betty saying he wants her by his side - inadvertently asking her to stay. But not a lot of people are pointing out that he is borrowing her words when he says this. Her letter tells him that she wishes she “could be by his side forever”, so when he’s telling her that, I don’t think it’s necessarily that he doesn’t want her to go, but that he mistakenly believes that she wants to stay. That using her words to tell her she can stay by his side is what Betty wants, is the most comforting thing he could give her.
We see in all Simon’s interactions, both in the flashbacks with Marcy in Adventure Time and in his relationship with Fionna this season, that he is driven by comfort. He is a carer, he is a soother. He expresses love through the ways he comforts people. There’s a reason we’re all obsessed with the dad energy this series. Simon Petrikov, at his core, will always comfort those he cares about.
BUT
In the case of his relationship with Betty, it’s become unhealthy. Simon is so intent on Betty’s comfort, on making sure that Betty isn’t ever hurt or unhappy or guilty that - in the case of the portal - he doesn’t express what actually needs to be said. And, in the case of the bus stop, he will take the easier option and assume that Betty wants to stay - to reassure her that she can stay - to save her what he perceives as the pain or uncertainty of leaving. Even if her leaving, whether with or without him, would have been better for her.
It never occurred to Simon that he would go with her, because he truly believed that Betty was going because she didn’t believe that she could stay.
And both times Betty chooses Simon. She leaps at the portal, without looking back, for a Simon that she sees is hers again and free of the curse of the crown. She turns her back on the bus and reaches for Simon without hesitation because she wasn’t lying in her letter. She wants to be by his side.
Simon’s compulsion to comfort, to assuage all negative emotion to the point of detriment - to the point of avoidance of difficult things that truly need to be felt or said or done. And Betty’s complete disregard for consequence, for her own wellbeing and future when it comes to her love for Simon. It’s an endless loop. Betty throwing everything away for a love she has let consume her. And Simon doing his level best to make sure she never feels the pain of those decisions.
These two have set up permanent camp in my brain and I am FERAL.

"goodbye andrias."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"take care, kiddo."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For some reason this is hitting me the hardest out of everything.
It feels...tender?
bittersweet..?
The "take care, kiddo" was full of just despair, a last goodbye.
andrias didn't even try to say goodbye cause he know's he fucked up with her.
a cold stab to the chest last second to make his dad proud.
and now that he's dead.
he's just full of regret, and guilt.
he know's he cant be redeemed, and doesn't even say sorry.
cause he know's a sorry isnt gonna cut it.
he know's that wont make-up for what he's done.
so he stay's silent.
Happy the day is saved, but that's all the positive's he could probably think of right now.
but marcy say's goodbye.
she didn't need to say goodbye, after everything that he caused to her, she would be vaild to NOT say goodbye.
but she does anyway, despite all the mixed emotion's she has with him, a goodbye is said, to a once father figure, a goodbye to, a once friend turned backstabber, a goodbye...to a broken man.
it catches him by surprise, I'd be surprised too if i was him.
but even thinking maybe he doesn't deserve this goodbye, this last interaction with someone he messed up big time with but still loves like a daughter.
he say's one thing.
"take care, kiddo."
and it was the best thing he could've said.

Okay I'm doing a Fionna and Cake ep 2 ramble, because there is so much Finn slander rn and after binging all of Adventure Time I'm losing my marbles over this.
So heavy spoilers below
This is probs gonna be a mess and idc if nobody reads this, I just want to chuck my feelings into the void of the internet.
First and foremost I genuinely DO NOT believe Finn is using Jake's kids to replace Jake. Finn has always been very extroverted and has been shown to have separation and abandonment issues (remember how fast he freaked when fern ditched him or how weird finn sword started acting after grass sword shattered it, and just Martin). It makes sense for his character that'd he'd continue adventuring with other friends and family after Jake. We also have to remember PB and Marcie are out being together, so while I'm sure they still hang out its not as much as it used to be. I genuinely see him turning to his remaining family to see if they want to tag along. Like I could 100% be wrong, but I feel if he was using Jake's kids he would've pushed more to get TV to follow them, but instead he just asked once and then just accepted/respected TV's decision to dip.
Okay now Simon and Finn are both grieving, and neither of them are dealing with it well. Finn has clearly emotionally regressed a bit and is struggling with the loss of Jake. There were numerous times where Jake showed to be really cool with death and Finn not at all be cool with Jake dying. I wouldn't be surpirised if they never really made any progress with that problem, again pretty sure Finn has abandonment issues, so its very easy to see Jake's passing setting him back years in emotional growth. But people have been saying things like "Finn's being ignorant to Simons feelings" "He's in complete denial" "He needs to learn to be a better friend" "He's lost all of the character growth he had in the show" and I cannot deal with this. These comments are the reason I'm making this because shenanigans.
A quick play by play of the very important interaction that people seem to gloss over.
Finn meets up with Simon starting to lose his shit in the bar over Fionna and Cake. He immediately tries to calm him down and Simon freaks out a little more. Finn acknowledges this isn't about the stories and gently asks him whats wrong. Simon proceeds to tell him while clearly having a breakdown, Finn tries to calm him down and even tells him he's sorry. Presumably a "I'm sorry your feeling this way." Simon then admits some really heavy stuff and at this point Finn realizes hes way out of his comfort zone and asks if he's talked to Marcie, i.e. the person that would be able to provide more/better support. Simon brushes that off, Finn basically hits him with a "there's so much more to live for" and Simon says some even darker things, Finn looks around for help, and at this point decides to play the distraction card.
Thats still our boy! Hes damaged but not completely emotionally unaware. He also knew his limits, he looked for help when things got dark and then began to try some stuff that helped him. Like honestly if a friend was saying some of the things Simon was to me and I had no backup I'd also play the distraction card. Were they good distractions? No, not for Simon. But he was genuinely trying. He's not happy but he's staying cheery to try and get Simon in a better place. He also isn't intentionally forcing Simon to go with him, and takes him home as soon as he expresses that he's done.
Its a mess, they're a mess and are absolutley not the ones to help each other. The blindfolds in the forest or "the blind leading the blind" is the perfect expression for what this trainwreck is. They both need outside help and I think thats what we're going to see in this show. This was the first two episodes that set the stage. I imagine there will be a "Finn Mertens" episode, so like lets chill out and cut our boy some slack, at least until we see the whole story, he genuinely tried. Honestly, having just rewatched the whole show, I have a fair bit of faith in the writing team, I highly doubt they'd butcher Finn's character like that.
Anyway I'm loving this show so far, just bugged by some of the hot takes to come out of it. This is all my opinions, so I guess my hot takes? But I just wanted to stand up for the boy.
Also also, people better not be blaming Marcie for being neglectful. Shes barely been seen yet, and currently has no idea whats happening. Give it a bit.
I'm also under the impression Finn's got a separate arm for adventuring, soley because getting another major injury off camera is just kinda out of charcter for the show. But Idk maybe they're just trying something new.

A bit of a shorter chapter this time but it works for what I pictured. Yes, those names are slightly referencing my Nightmare x Reader fic that I'm working on lol. Dust is a creepy stalker still, what else is new?
@owl-bones
First Day, Previous Day, & Next Day.
Bad Sansuary: Dust - Judgement
Word Count: 1,477
Your snow boots were keeping your toes nice and warm as you made your way home from work today. It had snowed the night before and while the sidewalks were mostly clear now, there were a few snow drifts from the street plows here and there. It made the gray city slightly more pretty in your opinion, even if it also made walking more treacherous.
"Hey! Is that you, ...?"
You looked up when you heard your name to find four women approaching you. You instantly recognized them as several of the girls that went to the same high school you did, although you only vaguely remembered each of their names. Cathie...? Rebecca? Marcy? You couldn't seem remember the fourth girl's name though. They looked like they were dressed to the nines as if they were going out on the town after work - even their snow gear was cute.
With a sigh, you greeted them and tried to act pleasant. Truthfully, you didn't have good memories of any of your previous interactions with these women. They'd all been "best friends" and always sat together in class or at lunch. Anyone who didn't fit into their little click, for whatever reason, was unworthy to be friends with them. To top it off, they were all gossips and you had been just one of their many targets back then.
"It's been so long, hasn't it?"
"You haven't changed a bit... Well, that's a lie, you've gained weight apparently."
"Are you seriously wearing the same coat from senior year?"
"I heard you work at that corporate office down the street. Didn't you want to go to college to be a psychologist or something?"
You hadn't even managed to get a word out, other than a simple hello, before they predictably started in on you, specifically pointing out things you couldn't change. So what if you'd gained some weight? You'd been borderline anorexic during high school for crying out loud! And what was wrong with wearing the same clothes for years if they still fit and were in good shape? New ones were expensive and you just so happened to like your current sense of style!
"You're all as lovely as I remember," you muttered. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have more important places to be than listening to the opinions of trash."
You sidestepped and managed to scoot around the group. Although, it seemed that they weren't content to let you have the last word and as you started to walk away, they followed and threw out some more judgemental comments.
"Wow... You're still as snotty as ever, huh? Grow up!"
"Your face matches your personality!"
"Did another man come to his senses and dump you again?"
"Your mother was right, you know!"
You clenched your fists and forced yourself to keep walking at a brisk pace. They'd lose interest eventually as they always did. If you didn't know better, you'd be tempted to throw a punch or two, but you really didn't need an assault charge on your record.
There was movement up ahead to your left and when you looked up, you were surprised to see none other than Dust stepping out of the alley. He met your eye and silently motioned for you to follow him.
You didn't hesitate and quickly stepped into the alley with him. The bullies were far enough behind that you might be able to give them the slip if you were fast enough. However, your hopes of making a clean getaway were dashed when you realized that the alley was a dead end up ahead.
Before you could ask why he'd brought you here, Dust gripped your right arm tightly and leaned in close to you. "close your eyes for a moment," he hissed.
You knew he wasn't going to bother waiting to see if you did so to execute whatever his plan had been and so you did as you were told. Almost instantly, you felt a numb sensation spread across your body, starting at your extremities, and the usual busy sounds of the city were replaced by a sudden deafening silence. His grip on your arm was far more reassuring than he likely intended it to be though. Then the temperature shifted a second later and you began to feel warm again.
"you can open your eyes now," he muttered and let go of you as he moved away.
Your mouth fell open in shock when you realized where you were. Somehow, you were standing inside your apartment even though you'd been just outside moments prior. The surprise fell away rather quickly when you were hit with the possible implications of what this meant.
You turned to look at Dust, who had decided to make himself at home on your couch. He sunk into the cushions and looked as if he would gladly stay there for an eternity if he could. He hadn't even taken off his shoes which, while irritating, was the least of your worries right now.
"Dust..."
He grunted in acknowledgement and his eyelights briefly flickered to you.
"How'd you know where I lived...?" you asked quietly.
He shrugged and looked away. "lucky guess..." he muttered.
Well that was a lie if you'd ever heard one. You huffed and marched over to him. Crossing your arms and fixing him with your most unimpressed look. "Really?"
He lazily waved you off but didn't seem willing to make eye contact with you now. Abruptly changing the subject, he asked a question of his own. "do those people bother you a lot?" he asked in a low voice.
You didn't appreciate how he'd brushed off your question like that and just continued staring at him for a few moments. When he didn't back down though, you reluctantly decided to revisit this issue at a future time.
"No? I haven't spoken to any of them in years..." you answered with a sigh.
He nodded slowly and you could almost see the gears turning in his head as he mulled through whatever was on his mind.
"people like that deserve what's coming to them."
You really didn't like how hollow his voice sounded when he said that or the way his posture tensed up either. If you didn't know better, you'd think he was talking as if he were an arbitrator of Karma herself.
"Hey, uh...not to sound presumptuous... But, can you please not go out and threaten or kill people on my behalf?" you asked slowly.
"...what?" He gave you a look that could best be described as perplexed. "why...would you think that...? i...don't care about you that much..." he muttered, quickly tugging his hood tighter over his skull and looking down at the floor.
You stared at him for a solid five seconds with a mildly amused smile playing at the corners of your lips. What was that reaction? You'd expected him to brush you off again or even outright deny that he'd stoop to that level.
"Question... Is stalking me like the way you have been for...however long you have, your way of figuring me out?" You planted your hands on your hips and raised an eyebrow in a skeptical way.
He looked up at you blankly but didn't answer. The longer you stared at him, the more you realized that, yes, that was exactly what he'd been doing.
Okay, he was definitely creepy. While you were grateful that he'd decided to step in and get you out of that situation earlier, you really didn't like that he'd continued stalking you after confronting you for the first time. What was his goal anyways? You were basically harmless as far as humans went.
Steepling your fingers together, you took a deep breath and made eye contact with him again. "Might I suggest a more appropriate method? Like actually hanging around and talking, like adults, so we can properly get to know each other?"
Dust said nothing once again and just stared back at you sullenly. You couldn't tell if he was offended that you'd even suggested such a wild idea or if he just thought it was dumb. You didn't know a thing about him really, but you knew he wasn't exactly all there and he may not even see anything wrong with what he had been doing in the first place.
You finally gave up on the staring contest and had to look away. "Fine, whatever... I don't have the mental energy to care what you do at this point."
You started to walk into the kitchen but decided you could at least try to be a good host if he was going to make himself comfy on your couch. "Did you want something to drink or...?" But, by the time you looked back, he'd completely disappeared.
Damn it... What is with him and being all mysterious?

An Amphibia and Marcy Gripe I need to get off my chest.
I don't like that Marcy was written out of the story in S3, and I think the most frustrating thing about it is that there's no discernable reason for it.
Yes, Matt had Marcy possessed because he wanted something like a three-way fight between the girls and needed something to justify that.
And okay, fine. There are some small things missing that would explain the in-universe logic behind that choice, but nothing that's major and can't be safely skipped over by the audience.
But, why have it happen so early?
Why do it in a way that denies a character who's so important to the plot, story, and character arc of the protagonist any part in that story, plot, and character arc?
Why write the characters and the story in a way that gives the impression everyone forgot they exist for a majority of the season?
Why deny a character who had done so much wrong and is clearly remorseful of all that the chance to grow and show they've learned their lesson and changed for the better?
Sasha got that chance. Hell, Andrias got that chance. Why not Marcy?
But these questions, to this day, remain unanswered - not just by Matt and the writing team (that I know of, anyway), but there's nothing in the show nor the book that offers a clue or suggestion as to why this decision was made.
There's no thematic reason - how is not showing a character changing play into the themes of change?
The only possible narrative reason would be to introduce Darcy - but, like with Marcy, they don't do anything with them until the last minute. Heck, I argue they didn't actually introduce* Darcy until The Core and the King - which is, what, the fifth-to-last episode? So this doesn't work as a reason.
There's just… Nothing. We can speculate and headcanon all we want, but there's nothing that can really hold water: we'd need something from the writers.
And honestly, despite how it sounds after everything I've said, I don't want the explanation. Considering how the narrative decisions surrounding Marcy - and other aspects of season 3 that I don't really want to get into - are just bizarre and inexplicable, I can't imagine the answer being anything other than confusing and unsatisfying.
Thanks for reading my fan-wank. I just really needed to get this off my chest.
*For clarification, I define a character's introduction as showing the audience how the character acts, behaves, thinks, and interacts with others (i.e. we see what kind of person they are). Darcy's first appearance was just them on-camera, and their second appearance only had them say a couple of lines. It was more like a cameo than anything else.

Note
just went through the entire hermitphipia au and cannot stop thinking about the hermits driving Andrias absolutely insane
Zedaph seems to make contraptions with the sole purpose of them accomplishing a net zero or acting to detriment but with every contraption they get at least one discovery that revolutionizes their technology out of the principals so he ends up being too valuable an asset to not give unlimited funding and a tram do document everything he builds or any experiments he conducts
Andrias thinks Impulse is one of the more reasonable ones and possibly capable of keeping the others in line so he assigns some of the troublemakers under him not realizing that these are the exact people he is only responsible enough around to assure none of them die (we're talking either ZIT, Boatem, Soup Squad, or all of the above)
Keeping Grian occupied becomes a top priority quickly, and soon extends to nearly the entire 26
When Xisuma shows up, Andrias thinks he finally has someone who can handle the others' mischief. Upon learning that while Admin is short for administrator, Xisuma does not, in fact, administrate the hermits but instead the world they settle on, he is both disappointed and concerned on multiple accounts, one of which being this guy is apparently a God in certain realities and that is a problem for the plan.
Joe Hills
Andrias ties himself in mental knots trying to predict these strangers. Marcy & Mumbo were both easy to understand, even if the latter still regularly baffles him.
But add more than 20 other varied, chaotic humanoids to the mix & everything's on fire again as he & the Core try to work out not just Hermits' individual quirks, but also the unique chaos that stems from certain Hermit combos.
His saving grace should've been that he's introduced to them gradually as they reunite one by one, but he has the disadvantage of meeting Mumbo first, who on his own is chaotic but in a benign way Andrias has quickly adapted to & can manipulate, if only by nudging the spoon as needed.
But then Anne Boonchuy & the Plantars rock up to Newtopia with False & Grian (& maybe others, but definitely those 2 at minimum), & Andrias sees bumbling Mumbo become a nonsensical prankster with one braincell to share just by being in earshot of this force of chaos in red.
But friends bring out different sides to a person, so that's expected... right?
Zedaph's a whole other can of worms. I'm not sure when they meet, but Andrias has gotten so used to Mumbo's ingenuity & order that he expects the next Hermit engineer he meets to be of a similar ilk.
He almost retires to his chambers with a headache after he finds out Zed's built a perpetual motion engine from salvaged parts... & is using it to power the world's (deliberately) slowest elevator.
He actually retires when Zed's genuinely confused by the idea of using it for anything else.
The only thing calming the king's growing frustration with Zedaph is what he can achieve if he combines the engine & Zed's other breakthrough with Mumbo's advances.
So yes, Zed gets funding & test subjects a team.
At some point after comes his first meeting with Impulse & he thinks "Finally! One of them who's sane!" (False is, almost, but she's hard to control unless nudged via Anne).
He sneakily puts Impulse in a position of keeping an eye on Zed & maybe Tango as well by this time.
An all new brand of chaos breaks loose.
Andrias isnt sure what happened, but there's a hole burnt in his throne room ceiling & the ZIT trio are stood around acting innocent. Impulse is covered head to toe in soot.
It's taking all Andrias' mental effort to keep his composure.
Andrias lucks out with Grian. Though his interactions with Mumbo make it clear the waffle haired builder's a force of prankster chaos of godlike proportions that cannot be halted, he spends a lot of time focused on going on adventures with Anne or making secret plans for a revolution (it's an instinct for Grian, & he doesn't know the context nor which side he's on til True Colors).
That doesn't mean there aren't a few surprises Andrias has to curb, though. The city-wide game of Tag that pulls in every Hermit in Newtopia at the time, plus Anne, Marcy, the Plantars, Yunan & more than a few others is one incident that comes to mind.
Andrias is relieved when Grian's plans for whatever 'another Demise' or 'a new take on Life' might be are put on hold by him remembering the Hermits don't currently have lives to spare.
Thankfully for him, Andrias doesn't meet all 26 Hermits before True Colors. Given how chaotic the ones he has met are, though, that isn't saying much.
And then there's X.
Xisuma is a concern for Andrias as soon as they meet, but he's unable to tap into most of his admin powers nor ping the damaged Hermithius in far orbit. After meeting the suited man - he may be one of the Hermits with Anne when she arrives in Newtopia, but I haven't settled on that - keeping him depowered becomes a priority once its clear he's only the de facto leader of the Hermits by unanimous understanding & won't step in unless things get out of hand, but could absolutely shut down the Core's plans with admin access.
All X's attempts to track down Amphibia's 'admin' & work out a deal seem to fail, & it isn't til True Colors that he realises Andrias has been feeding him bad info.
By then its a bit late to do anything, though.
In the meantime, Andrias seems interested in X's anecdotes about Evil X. What could that be about...?
And yes. Joe Hills. Andrias' worst nightmare: The bard.
Because nothing's scarier than a man who can tear you a new one without lifting a finger.
(I have more ideas about Joe, but this is already too long & I'm tired. :P)

I've been meaning to finish this one for aaaages, but always kept pushing it back. I also wondered if I should draw his full body ref too, but I just can't be bothered rn.
I wanted to go for a slightly different direction from what I typically see portrayed with any Deity relating to War. Nature vise I mean to be exact.
I decided to make this post into more of an info dump on the Heralds beyond just War, given two out of three others are somewhat relevant, even if they don't appear directly at any point. (Famine is not included as they're not relevant in any way) Admittedly they are more relevant on the whole in the spin-off story (The Mage and the Mobster) rather than the main one NCP
More info below:
ABOUT WAR/SOLDIER
They are the youngest of the four "siblings" and always manifest last, as life first tends to need to reach sapient state to have actual "wars"
Their appearance changes depending on the times/current cycle. During some lifecycles War might've appeared as a woman for example.
He is currently a white male because of the World Wars being the most recent large-scale battles on earth.
He is generally very mellow and quiet, coming off like someone very tired of just existing, which often tends to confuse those who assume the Herald of War would be more fiery.
The Weaponsmith Warlocks are the only beings directly channeling his power. He initially created this ability in hopes that if someone could "see directly" what he does, they'd start to learn not to cause war so much, but unfortunately that tends to not work...
ABOUT DEATH/END
They are described as a "story collector" by their siblings and Reapers who get to speak with them. Curious to hear the story of each soul a reaper is currently shepherding to the next cycle.
No one really knows what they look like, and the siblings often indicate Death looks like everyone and no-one the same time.
In practice, typically any Grim Reaper discussing with them will just see their own reflection, but with pitch black, void-like eyes. Mortals may sometimes be possessed by a fraction of their essence too, but this is rare.
Death doesn't know where a soul goes once they pass the "veil" as they call it; if there is a heaven or hell or a rebirth. All Death does know that eventually, every single soul - if not destroyed - does make their way to the next cycle of the World itself. (In this story the world basically cycles where it gets destroyed and is reborn over and over again. I think there's even a theory/concept about this in IRL physics lol)
Grim Reapers were all living souls once, choosing to become one either while still alive, or once they are being escorted. Reasons as to why one does so wary greatly.
Death does also permit a fraction of their power to be used for a short period of time without turning into a Grim Reaper, utilizing special stones. these are very risky to use however, since using them for too long transforms you permanently, forcing the individual to leave their past life behind, unable to ever return to their loved ones.
ABOUT PESTILENCE
They are most involved with mortal realm despite not often manifesting physically. They have not one but two "follower" types, both helpful and chaotic ones.
The Chaotic ones are the Plague demons, who, while might have tendencies to be less-than-good people, aren't always necessarily evil either, hence they are described more as "chaotic"
The Helpful ones are the Blood Sage Warlocks, whose powers are typically used to help people with their ailments.
BONUS: Famine
All that is known of them is that they appear as a hermit humanoid that wanders across earth, and wherever they go, the chance of a famine gets higher.
They are very passive and the siblings often indicate they're not really mentally present, less of a person and more of an entity that just exists.
STORY RELEVANCES:
War/Soldier is mostly relevant in NCP/the main story as the "uncle" who visits Marci Raye, and generally may interact with other characters outside their family as well. He is also seen spending time with the local light Deity Spectra, and the Soul Eater King Amaros.
Pestilence & Death: They are relevant to the conflict between Angus Belmont and his ex friends-with-benefits Vincent DeVos. Vincent is obsessed over him, and wants to turn Angus into a Grim Reaper, because that way their souls can reunite at the end once the world is to be purged of life.
Angus is VERY MUCH against this because he has a kid to look after, and a sister to take care of. Also a student. Angus is a good candidate for this, because he already has a connection to the Heralds thanks to his powers, which gave Vincent this idea in the first place. (Already existing connections make these transformations easier)
Vincent's reasoning for wanting Angus to become a Grim Reaper specifically rather than turning him into a Plague demon - which would achieve the same goal - is very shallow and also slightly ignorant; he finds Reapers more attractive than his own kind, and doesn't realize turning Angus into a Reaper would mean he can't be around Vincent either, until the very end (something he'd be too impatient to wait for)

What is your favourite thing about your character(s)? Above all else, every time you come back to them, what is the thing about them that makes you love them?
Oh boy, let's go... -cracks knuckles-
Tumblr media
Syerra is my namesake. There's a version of her in every game I play, because she herself is a version of me. In each iteration, she grows and develops in ways I never expect her to, good and bad, and that's always an experience for me. I love her perseverance - no matter what happens, she has never lost her gentle nature.
Tumblr media
Ahri was born out of a need to step away from a darkness that had settled into my life and connect to people and situations that were better for me. She has helped me achieve that and so much more. I love writing her because she has a freedom of spirit and abundance of confidence, which I often lack. I love her sense of adventure - she follows wherever life takes her and makes the absolute best of it.
Tumblr media
Vette is very different from my other characters and it's been really fun to write and develop her. She is angry, often unsociable, and carries a lot of trauma. But she's also endlessly loyal to those who she calls friend, and she can love more deeply than anyone might imagine. Writing her various interactions with people is always a fun time. I love her strength - she has been through terrible things, but still tries to be someone those she lost would be proud of. Also, she's a dragon, so...
MORE UNDER THE CUT
Tumblr media
Jacke is a character that I have written in a few settings and it's always interesting to see how he'll develop. His carefree nature lends him well to any story and really allows him to adapt to what's around him. I love the way he loves life - he always finds a reason to laugh, to tease, to flirt, to live life to the fullest.
Tumblr media
Naidvar moves through life like water, flowing around obstacles and carving a path for those who follow. Sometimes, her presence is a gentle as a trickling stream. Sometimes, she can be as fierce as roaring rapids. I love that she believes - in destiny, in herself, in her place in the world...
Tumblr media
Adriaux is a new character for me. He's sort of a mashup between a few old characters, with a new spin. He's my first real attempt at playing a guy who's at the top and actually happy to be there. But of course, he's got a dark secret... We couldn't let him be just 100% perfect, right? I love his convictions - this is a man who would put everything on the line to protect the ones he loves.
Tumblr media
Marcy is often a punchline when I talk about him, but the truth is that he has a great deal of depth as a character. He's been through the wringer and still manages to smile. I love his lighthearted nature - even when things are at their worst, he keeps a level head and tries to bring some light to the situation.

Thank you for the question, @gatheredfates!

Hush, Hush
Tumblr media
The reason I read this? Because a booktuber I was following shared an hour-long video of her reacting to the entire series and I was like: hey! I read part of the first book as a teen! And since I just recently reread City of Bones (see review), why not continue my streak of rereading trashy YA relics? It's the archaeologist in me speaking, I swear. And also the masochist!
Now, after finishing this book, I have come to announce in my review that I am really, really burnt-out. 😂 It's… a lot of teenage angst. I'm only done with the first book and this madwoman pushed herself and read ALL FOUR BOOKS:
Tumblr media
The sheer IRONY of her video title given that I read it because I saw her video, LOL.
So I don't even know how to begin this review. First of all, I definitely found City of Bones more enjoyable than this. Does it mean City of Bones is a better book? Eh. I think CoB had more things in the plot to distract me (finding the Cup, lots of magical adventure) from the main leads, but this book circles a lot around Patch and Nora.
And boy were both of them the weirdest people to exist.
I want to say they're a product of their time, and in a way they are, but I've also seen other books in this time that aren't this bad. Regardless, you can really see how aged the book is from this interaction here:
Tumblr media
All the mean-girl Marcie did call Nora was "geek" and "freak" but Nora? Not just did she slut-shame Marcie, she called her an anorexic pig. This is our heroine, guys. This is who we're supposed to root for. It's genuinely hilarious how the masses collectively ignored how problematic this was in 2009.
In any case: Nora spends most of her days swooning over Patch while simultaneously telling herself how dangerous he is. I get the "dangerous" part, but the swooning? What? HOW? Other than him looking (I guess?) physically attractive, there is NOTHING about him to swoon about. He is so creepy, I swear if he said half the things he did to me IRL, I'd call the cops and file a restraining order. LIKE, I'M NOT KIDDING. THIS MAN HAS ZERO GAME. ZERO. When asked by the biology teacher what he looks for in a mate (I know. The question was already, um, hella weird), Patch says things like:
"Intelligent. Attractive. Vulnerable."
Vulnerable?? VULNERABLE. This is Creeper 101. Also during his first meeting with Nora, out of nowhere, he goes:
"Do you sleep naked?" he asked.
Tumblr media
There's a thousand more examples of him saying the weirdest, creepiest shit, but it'd be tomorrow by the time I list them out. My point is: if this is him trying to flirt, it's giving police sirens. And Nora's reaction, instead of running from him, is to dwell on how conflicted she is about her attraction (??) and fear towards him. At some point, she's stalking his workplace to interview his coworkers if he's a felon or has a criminal record and I KID YOU NOT, her last question ending this is: Does he have a girlfriend?
And I don't even want to talk about her best "friend", Vee. I use quotation marks because this isn't really a friend but bless the author, she seems to believe Vee is remotely some kind of friend to Nora. When Elliot (some dude in the story) assaults Nora, this is what Vee says:
Tumblr media
Guys, Elliot is going to feel so horrible tomorrow after assaulting Nora. 🙁 Vee is SO right, we need to worry about the pain he's in instead of taking the matter of assault seriously.  Because fuck your best "friend" since Elliot is more important, am I right?
To make matters worse, Elliot was assaulting Nora to try to coerce her to go on a camping trip with him and Vee. So get this: Vee, despite hearing about the assault, STILL tries to persuade Nora to go on the camping trip because it'd be fun! In the end, Vee going for the camping trip causes Nora to have to rescue her (since Elliot is obviously a deviant), and Nora practically endangers her life to save Vee's sorry ass. Me, I'm not so kind. I'd munch popcorn and sip wine and have a jolly good time picturing Vee getting murdered. Cheers!
Anyway. Negative points aside, I didn't see the Jules twist coming, and I kinda did like that. The downside, however, is that everyone is an idiot, especially Nora. For example, the new therapist Miss Greene was clearly shady from the start—she'd say the sketchiest nonsense, and Nora would just be vaguely suspicious before taking it all in stride. It's WILD. Her behaviour for 80% of this book makes zero fucking sense. The only thing I can commend her for is that she's proactively trying to solve an investigation for most of the book... even if she's going the worst possible way at it.
And also when Patch says at the end of the book that he's fallen for Nora and no longer plans to sacrifice her? I was like, WHEN? When did you fall for her? Most of your interactions were just you saying creepy stuff and her thinking about how hot and dangerous you were. When did the falling-in-love happen, exactly?
I AM SO CONFUSED.
I don't really have more to say about this book other than I am really, really hoping we (as readers or writers) have collectively moved on from this madness in 2023. In any case, will I continue this series? I don't know. I do like trashy reality TV, but too much of it and I might get a stroke. Reading City of Bones and then this almost back to back has taken me out. (And yet… there is a distant INANE part of me that's whispering: Time to go back and reread every trashy YA series circa 2010.)

Secret Ingredient || Elias & Regan
TIMING: Current LOCATION: Frank's Frogurt PARTIES: Elias and Regan SUMMARY: After Elias and Regan discussed froyo online, Regan begrudgingly agreed they could get some. She could only find frogurt which is probably close enough. They're not welcome back. CONTENT WARNING: None
Could it still be called froyo if the store said it was frogurt? Regan stared up at the Frank’s Frogurt sign and frowned at it. Something about the portmanteau seemed sinister and wrong. She had told Elias she would find somewhere for them to get frozen yogurt, and it already felt as though she’d failed. As soon as he shuffled up, she was ready to roll in with an apology and explanation. “Elias. Hello. You probably see this is a frogurt store. I was looking for froyo, but I thought I caught a whiff of putrescine and ended up following it, and now we’re here instead, and I don’t know if – I mean, it’s probably the same thing, right?” She looked at him, and judged him the expert on the subject matter. Her expertise was limited to regular yogurt.
“Also, are you sure about this? Isn’t it strange to eat in each other’s presence for no particular reason? I usually eat alone. And – and I don’t usually see other people eat, only what they ate after they ate it and if they’re dead.” Okay, so she might have been a tiny bit nervous – she hadn’t done anything like this in years. But that didn’t matter. She forced her nerves to come to a screeching halt, sealing them with a couple of deep breaths. Right, Elias could go in now. She didn’t have to, right? “Okay. I will wait for your return.” She looked to Elias and then the door, as if it were obvious she wasn’t going in.
After receiving the time and a place to meet Regan at for ‘froyo,’ Elias had been happy to oblige. Even though he had seen the doctor claim that she did not have a need for friends, she seemed kind enough to not turn him down. Maybe it was the pull of yogurt? Who knew. He hadn’t gone to a frozen yogurt place in a while, so the idea of meeting up with someone who he considered a friend (even if she didn’t) was quite nice. As soon as he came up to her, she had begun talking. Putriscine, what she smelled death? Well, that was certainly a good sign. And most importantly, very Regan. “That’s just their way of shortening frozen yogurt, just like froyo.” He explained with an amused smile spread across his face. “It is the same thing, we’ll be just fine.”
“I’m sure! People hang out all the time, there’s nothing weird about going to grab a tasty treat together.” He frowned, realizing that the woman had very little social habits at all. Surely it wasn’t her fault, could it be? He wasn’t sure. But he did know that there was something about it that he found endearing. “Well then consider this a lesson in socializing with others.” He spoke, phrasing it in a way he hoped she’d find palettable. “What, you’re not coming with me?” He asked, turning to the door, then back to her. “Oh no. If you’re getting something good out of this from your assistant, you’ve got to go in with me. I’ll talk and pay so you don’t have to interact with the person behind the counter.” He insisted, gesturing to the door with a tilt of his head.
Elias was so chipper all the time, and Regan couldn’t fathom how he managed to stay that way in a town like this. Maybe it was the only thing keeping his sanity from dribbling out his ears. He pressed so hard for answers sometimes and didn’t realize he was melting his own wax in the process, and risked being reduced to nothing. “I think it’s weird to watch other people chew.” She remarked, unconvinced. “And what makes you think I need a lesson? You and Marcy both. Why is your way more correct than mine?” But Elias practically glowed, and something about it was… foreboding. Like the way the air felt charged right before a thunderstorm. Why? She wasn’t sure. There was no scream swelling inside of her. But change was on its way, and she knew it. She needed to make sure it was in her favor – and preferably Elias’s, too.
Regan met his lightheartedness with a grave expression. However, she considered his proposal. He did make it sound as though it might be okay. That was a skill of his, and one she was slowly coming to appreciate. Regan nodded. “I accept your terms.”
She looked left and right as she walked through the door, eyes narrowed in suspicion. But there was nothing suspect. Just a mustachioed man behind the counter and a display full of a rainbow of froyo colors and consistencies. Regan stared cautiously at the flavors. As if she didn’t already know what she was going to get. There was something else tugging at her though, a tickling across her skin, and her attention was diverted away from Elias and the froyo and the flies flitting in and out of her vision. “I’ll have the vanilla.” Regan said rotely, almost bored, and directed neither at Elias nor the mustache man in particular. She had her eyes on something else. Sure, she couldn’t see it yet, but it was there, she could feel it, its stiff little fingers wrapped around her heart.
Upon entering the small shop, Elias began to look around at the different flavors, and honed in on the cookies and cream immediately. Picking up one of the cups, he gestured to Regan to pick one up and fill it herself, then he walked over to the tower and pulled the lever, the frozen yogurt pouring into his cup. Then, he made his way over to the toppings to start putting on different ingredients.
He didn’t pay Regan any mind as she seemed to look around the place, like a hound sniffing out its target. He was too content with putting together his ice cream the way he wanted, some brownie pieces, cookie dough, and oreo crumbles. He knew it didn’t really match his age, but he found that he didn’t particularly care either.
After he finished his froyo masterpiece, he turned to Regan to see how she was doing with hers, only to find her looking around. “Uh. Everything alright?” He asked her, brow raised as he tried to figure out what she was searching for. She looked bored, which he wasn’t surprised to see, but she also looked as if she were seeking something out. “Regan?” He then spoke, trying to figure out what she was up to.
Regan was somewhat aware that Elias was moving around in the store, collecting toppings on his yogurt like flies on a fresh cadaver, but she couldn’t pull herself away from that feeling in the air and charge against her skin. “Yeah, yeah, just a moment…” Her interest in frozen yogurt had evaporated. She was getting closer, and she wasn’t leaving here until she achieved victory. Cliodhna had much to be ashamed of when Regan was concerned, but her persistence was the one thing that she openly praised. She paced around the perimeter, scanning the floor where it met the wall. There may not have been anything dead in her sight yet, but she could tell that whatever she was picking up had skittered around the store just prior to dying. The mustache man was saying something, asking her to stop, but that barely entered her consciousness.
Closer… she was getting closer. Regan stopped next to one of the soft-serve machines and stared at it for a moment. “Ma’am, please just get some frogurt like everyone else. Here, it’s free.” He gestured emphatically to the cups, then to the machine. Regan practically looked through him, then Elias, and went right back to examining it instead of using it. She knelt down, and knew she had it. “It’s here. It’s–” She reached blindly behind the machine. It was a narrow crevice, but there was enough room for her to grasp for the prize. “Aha!” She said gleefully. She reeled out a fetid, limp rat tail-first, and displayed it for Elias. “Found it!”
Regan popped up and admired the rat. It was supremely fresh, had probably only died a few hours ago. She felt a little bad to be robbing Frank’s Frogurt of the smorgasbord of stenches it would let off a day or two from now, but finders keepers. “Did you get your yogurt?” She looked at Elias and confirmed he had a mountain of dessert, drowning in oreos and sprinkles and more. “Great. I’m good now. We can leave.”
Eyes widening as Regan all but sniffed around the store, Elias stood stock still as she did whatever it was she was doing. He had placed the yogurt down on the counter and watched with mild horror at the show she was putting on, kind of glad that there was no one else in the shop to watch what was happening. The mustache man started yelling at her, and he felt as if he wanted to melt into the floor and disappear. The last thing he needed was to be nearly kicked out of some place because of her. She was strange, yes. But he’d never seen her act this strange.
Elias opened his mouth to speak as she reached down behind the yogurt machine, tilting his body to watch as she did so. When she picked up the dead rat, he nearly let out a shriek. He didn’t, as he was able to calm himself enough to not let out that scream. The mustache man looked as horrified as he felt, quickly taking a wide step away from the ice cream he no longer had any desire to eat.
“You… you want to leave now.” He spoke, watching as she handled the dead rat with no gloves. Shooting the mustache man a sidelong glance, he decided it was best to leave before something else nefarious showed up, like cockroaches in the toppings. “Eh, sorry…” he muttered to the worker before making a beeline for the door. “I’m glad you’re happy,” Elias muttered to Regan on their way out the door.
The man grumbled as the two of them swung out the door. The searing way his eyes burned into them communicated one thing: do not tell anyone about this. It was difficult to decide what to do. On one hand, others should know about Frank’s Frogurt and, with a little luck, what might be found there. On the other hand, Regan wanted to be able to return for round two without any competition. She would ponder it. For now, she looked down at Elias’s empty hands. Oh… “You didn’t bring your frogurt. Which is understandable, considering the circumstances. But… we could go somewhere else. If you wanted. I mean, I am a satisfied customer, but you clearly are not.”
Happy? No. She wasn’t happy, because that was not allowed. So the airy feeling flitting around her stomach must not have been happiness. “I’m not happy. I’m pleased. There’s a difference.” In the sunlight, she could appreciate the way the rat’s greasy gray hair shined. Its paws festered, one of them gone entirely, and she could clearly see the outline of most of its ribs. This was probably starvation. Which was a shame. There was plenty of frogurt it could have eaten.
Regan beamed up at the Frank’s Frogurt sign as the two of them walked away from the shop. “This place is excellent.”

THE OWL HOUSE RANT!! SPOILERS FOR FTF!!!
Okay so these are things I really want to happen in the last episode!! Obviously Eda and Camilla meeting!! Just imagine Camilla thanking her for taking care of her daughter!!Honestly I just want her to meet one of the other adults!! Speaking of the other adults, where's Alador?!?! Where's Gus' dad?!?! WHERE'S WILLOWS PAPA?!?! WHERE'S OWLBERT?!?!
Another thing is something we're obviously gonna get but I wanted to talk about some of my theories about that mysterious person Luz saw in The In Between (courtesy of Morgan Terry). Okay so Not So Average Fangirl said that it looked like King a little bit and maybe it's him from the future? Waving to Luz and trying to warn her about something? But the theory that I came up with is that it might be Terrok. Yes, I know "But he tried to kill King." Yeah but he was under the influence that Titans are evil. And Bill confirmed that he's been lying about that. Sort of. I mean, with what we heard in For The Future the fact that The Collectors wiped out all of the Titans besides King because Titans could use their magic to lock them up like they did this Kid Collector isn't really a lie. The only thing he lied about was them gaining great power. Also they weren't worshiping just the Kid Collector, they were worshipping literally every other Collector in the universe!! Anyway, but I was thinking maybe Terrok didn't like the fact that Bill "lied" and turned against him so he tried to find a way to comunicate with Luz and found out about The In Between and that's how he got there. Also, Titans don't have wings. Terrok does. Just saying.
Obviously more of STRINGBEAN!! EXCUSE ME WHILE I FANGIRL OVER HOW CUTE SHE IS!! AAAAAAAAAHHHH I LOVE HER SO MUCH *SOBS* *SCREAMS* *THROWS UP*
Anyway, the fact that Kid Collector (This is what I'm calling them now because he doesn't have an actual name.) and King are supposed to be mortal enemies but became friends is just... It's great. Well it was until BELOS!!! FUCKING!!! AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!
ALSO SOMEONE MENTIONED, I FORGET WHO, THAT RAINE MIGHT DIE?!?! BECAUSE THE ONLY REASON HUNTER SURVIVED THE POSSESSION WAS BECAUSE OF FLAPJACK?!?! SO LIKE... I'M SCARED?!?!
THE ADULTS!! BEATING!! BELOS'!! SEAWEED ASS!! PLEASE FOR GODS SAKE!!
WILLOW PUNCHING BOSCHA!! JUST ONE GOOD PUNCH IN THE FACE WOULD BE SO FUCKING SATISFYING!!
REUNIONS!!!! I LOVE REUNIONS!!! I CRIED WHEN ANNE GOT BACK HOME AND HER PARENTS HUGGED HER, I CRIED WHEN ANNE AND MARCY SAW EACH OTHER FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FOREVER IT WAS SO SWEET AND CRIED AGAIN WHEN LUZ GOT HOME TO HER MOM AND THEY HUGGED AND WHEN LILITH AND HOOTY SAW EACH OTHER AGAIN!! I LOVE REUNIONS SO MUCH!! LUZ, KING, AND EDA NEED ONE, AND WILLOW AND HER DADS NEED ONE, AND GUS AND HIS DAD, AND THE BLIGHT SIBLINGS WITH THEIR DAD!! GOD!!
I!! WANT!! KING!! TO!! CRY!! HE IS EIGHT!! AND LITERALLY HAS THE WHOLE WORLD ON HIS SHOULDERS!! LIKE WHEN EVERYTHING IS OVER I JUST WANT HIM TO BREAK DOWN AND HAVE HIS FAMILY COMFORTING HIM, OH GOD YOU POOR THING!!
We already kind of got this but Caleb and Belos!! I want Caleb to tell Belos off before he dies!! OR LIKE A CALEB AND HUNTER INTERACTION!!

whats your opinion/take on marceline and simon's relationship?
Good question that I don’t fully know the answer to tbh shdbdbbs but I’ll do my best. I have tried to write about it but I think I’ve always kind of shied away from actually thinking about it too hard. If anyone reading this has read my fics, please know that I am ashamed of the way I tried to dance around everything related to him lol. I have so much more to say but it’s pretty painful and I’m not great at writing or completing a story anyway so I took the easy way out and pretended sometimes. As many of us do, easily, and joyfully even— this is me saying that Bonnie being happy to hear Simon’s call doesn’t mean her trauma isn’t real or that she doesn’t associate him with it. If you have to be around someone who hurt you a lot, you can get so good at faking it that you even trick yourself, especially in the moments when they’re around or mentioned. That’s just survival. Anyway!
I think he was a good caregiver and I don’t think he abused her (and I think shipping them is capital G Gross I wish I didn’t know that was a thing lol). I think him flirting with her in “I Remember You” (is that the right one???) is probably NOT a common occurrence based on her reaction. Marcy is obvs experiencing a lot of heavy emotions in that scene and she can be overly trusting, and I obviously may be wrong about that regardless, but my interpretation is that she wasn’t expecting that at all. Simon in his shoulder length hair era (like flashback in “Simon and Marcy”) actually hits super hard for me as a caregiver with a fucked up (dissociative and sometimes dangerously distractible) brain, and I think his caregiving is a really good parallel to Bonnie’s in that it’s something they do for themselves as much as for the ones they care for. Which isn’t to say that it’s selfish (and I can relate to some degree so I can’t really judge either way) but Simon clearly needed Marcy — in particular, needed her to need him — at least at that point. She gave him a sense of purpose and a reason to both live and avoid the crown as much as possible. Also evident in F&C. Not going into specifics jic but if you’ve seen it you know what I mean. He’s also just very much a dad, even to the point of treating his penguins (and NEPTR….. to an extent lol) like children, which again parallels Bonnie— they both created kingdoms where they not only rule but also love in a way that they alone can define. I think Simon’s dad-ness is probably partly just in his character, but also partly missing Marcy and wanting to atone for leaving her, and probably partly just Gunther wanting a father figure if the crown is in play.
Ultimately Simon was there for Marcy when she had no one else, and when she didn’t believe she was worthy of being loved and taken care of. He did an okay job, but she’s spent her life inflating that and idealizing the Real Simon (as opposed to Ice King, who I have to say is not a different person — based on his range of emotions and actions and fallibility, closer to Simon than the pure elementals are to their regular selves). For me, Simon using Hambo to make a portal and everything else about their interactions in that episode is a pretty good indicator that she isn’t his priority. He’s obviously in a hurry and under a lot of stress, but even in “Broke His Crown” when he acknowledges that, his fatherly feelings toward her are pretty patriarchal and not as thoughtful as her feelings toward him. Regardless, I think it’s good for them to have some distance. He was a good caregiver, and she probably needed to believe that he was perfect, but I’m guessing what they have now is more like friendship, and that’s probably for the best. She’s no longer dependent, and he’s not dependable. AND most importantly, friendship might allow them to see each other more clearly and have the conversations they’ve needed to about the times he hurt her and yeah maybe also about the times he hurt Bonnie and everyone else.
Sorry that was so long and thank you for asking!!!!!!!!!

Ok, because y'all have seem to forget three of the absolute best characters in the entire movie (in my options anyways), let's recap:
The Dowine Triplets are three associates of Goncharov from Naples, working for an Unknown Mafia that he may or may not be allies with. (There are no other members from this unmentioned group that interact with him through the entire movie so it's really unclear.)
Marcy and Marla have been described by Goncharov as "The craziest cats on this side of Naples" and this is proven true with how, at the time, they're willing jump into various altercations involving the Russians hunting Goncharov, and how Marla continually dresses as a man, and often expressed desires of being born as one. (Many fans have theorised that she was actually trans, but that's not what this post is about.)
Marcel, in the other hand, is more of the control Lesh for his feral sister's, and is often the voice of reason amongst the three. He's often seen giving advice to Goncharov which he soldom heeds (such as when he told him to stay away from the Dell'Ammare family, especially Luglio, whose been rumoured to be the worst of all 12 siblings, and yet Is dismissed as paranoia.) While i love his sister's wild sides, he honestly has to be my favourite of the three. His impeccable clothing style and his level headedness, along with the way he treats Ice Pick Joe's son after he died are all just a few of the reasons why he's my favourite character. (And I will never forgive Scorsese for giving him a broken watch as the only token left from their grandfather to foreshadow his death.)
This post ain't a justification, but rather a rambling of my favourite characters. I need to rewatch this movie immediately.

So regarding that Marcy in Boiling Isles AU, does Hunter still befriend Willow and Gus at some point (sparking Huntlow shipping) with them joining his friend group of him, Marcy, and Amity? Would Amity and Willow still reconcile here?
This... is interesting. And complicated, first we need to look at how things in this AU have shifted things for Willow and Hunter.
Willow: So unlike Canon, Willow (and Gus) are not our protagonists first friend on the isle, which has been replaced in this AU by Hunter and Amity respectively.
So I'm not totally sure Willow is even on the plant track as early. More so since Marcy is solidly on the potions track in this AU rather than shaking things up with multi track studying, she doesn't interact with willow and the abomination track for a while.
Honestly I think there would be an episode where Marcy and Willow meet outside of the context of school, maybe while Marcy is hunting for some obscure plant ingredient and they get to talking about botonny. Willow is surprised since wasn't Marcy Amity's friend? And Marcy doesn't really get it cause she's never seen how Amity treated Willow before. And I think we get an episode where Marcy is kind of struggling with reconciling the Amity she's grown to know with the bully who needlessly harassed Willow.
I don't know if I would do the mind scape trick again to bring that confrontation to a head, but it would definitely put the two on more even terms.
Either way do to the changes to the AU Willow gets a lot less confidence boosters that turn her into the juggernaut of confidence she is in Season 2, which brings us to Hunter
Hunter: So in Canon I think a big reason the Emerald Entrails were such a big deal for Hunter was that they were the first friends that Hunter had made on his own terms. Which in this AU has been replaced with Marcy and a lesser extent Amity
But as mentioned, I doubt Willow is in the headspace to really be championing a Flier Derby team.
However I think I'd actually focus first on Gus and Hunter bonding as friends if anything in this AU. I think the two end up partners in some class project and after learning of Gus's interest in humans keeps making allusions to the human in disguise that goes to their school. Only for Gus to misunderstand and think Hunter is secretly a human spying on Hexside (do to his shifty behavior in general) this little misadventure ends with Gus promising to protect his secret (Gus thinks he's talking about Hunter being a human, Hunter thinks Gus is talking about him being the Golden Guard)
Then in a separate episode later we get one of Hunter and Willow bonding over their insecurities regarding skill with Magic. Willow who still hasn't embraced the plant track, though that's fixed in this episode. And hunter who completely lacks power.
I think Willow is a bit mopey but Hunter says that she shouldn't give up, that Marcy had shown him that with a little hard work and ingenuity, anything was possible and he shows her one of their early glyph combos they had designed
Willow asks what someone like Marcy would know about all this (being that at this point Marcy is rocking the potions track and had already dethroned Boscha) and Hunter lets on that Marcy is a human basically (Gus is nearby and scandalized by the news) and she found something that she had talent in (potions) and embraced it.
Which I think is part of what gives Willow the confidence to pursue the plant track, even if its relatively late compared to her canon self.
And then maybe some Huntlow shipping.
