Okay hear me out with this one: Pegasus Mumbo. Unlike Grian- this was the plan the whole time!

Now you might be wondering: why not a unicorn? He’s a redstoner, surely a unicorn makes more sense. Well! I have an explanation!

Mumbo is a Pegasus, but he chooses to stay grounded. This was mostly inspired by his bit of travelling via pig in season 9, but there’s other aspects of Mumbo that led to this decision too!

Mumbo is a peculiar guy. He tends to make things a bit harder for himself simply because he wants to (a great example is season 10 base!) and it adds to his quirkiness!

Yes, he CAN fly. He simply chooses not to. He enjoys walking instead, or indulging in other obscure methods of transportation!

Also yes, his cutie mark is a spoonful of red stone.

Hermit Hollow concept doodles!!

The poll on my main blog decided overwhelmingly to keep the hermits color palettes, so as a trade off I decided to tint their wings to match their talents instead!

(I’m also debating on whether or not to keep the swirl details in their wings, it looks cool but it’s a pain in the ass to do 🤷‍♀️)

okay i need to share an au idea but the art sucked so im just telling it rn.

the au is about a small seaside town named (INSERT NAME, maybe like Hermit cove or smt) , which is perfectly normal thank you. The residents have formed a small yet tight-knit community. the town sees basically no tourists despite the wonderful location, and again it is perfectly normal except one thing. There's a small office in the local government building reserved for the Bureau of Strange Happenings, where residents have to report anything strange they claimed to see. It was set up in the 90s, when a lot of tourists came to the town and claimed to have spotted cryptids, and wouldnt stop bothering local law enforcement about it. And reports have been coming in consistently for the past few years. tree bark that writhes and breathes, veins spread through the soil, the lakes turning red. Still these reports are all readily dismissed by the one who writes up all the incident reports, Grian. in his hermit permit esque glory, he is just as disinterested and would rather be fishing.

there's a lot of other residents. Local fisherwoman Gem, who seemingly just appeared two years ago and runs a small shop. Pearl, who does oddjobs around town and helps out anyone she can (shes recently taken up the job as mailman). Scar, one of the more paranoid residents who sees like something "weird" every other day (grian is so done with him). Recently the town has two new residents, joel and skizz, and through sheer bad luck they uncover more than they wanted about the idyllic little town.

At long last… the story of how Mumbo Deviates! I realize this is the most anticlimactic response i could've given to the crazy number of asks I’ve gotten wondering how Mumbo deviates and asking how angsty or heartbreaking or dramatic it is… but hear me out okay. The idea that mumbo is just doing Normal, Day-To-Day android stuff and some random mob just. spooks him so bad that he deviates on the spot and never tells a soul is not only Hilarious but it also feels Really in character DLFGKJFGJ

"They think I’m the least dangerous person in this car, do they? Well, they’re about to learn very differently."

Decided to redraw a moment from On the Getaway Mile by Odaigahara on AO3/ @droidofmay !

This may have taken a ridiculous amount of hours condensed into a few days and I went through it drawing cars and car interiors, but this was an absolute blast to do :D I hope I've done the fic sort of justice.

Welcome to my secret lair!!

I spent roughly... 18 hours working on this, the majority during this week and over the past three days, so I need to share my toils with people <3

Character/car references and page thumbnails! Featuring an incorrect scene placement and bad camera position. I reread the scene and placed it properly in the actual page. I hate drawing cars!! I was actually the most worried about panel placement when I started this— I was a guy who only did non narrative/illustrative panel pages and layout-less comics, but it wasn't that bad with a script! I could separate beats into panels, note which panels should be emphasised/larger, and assembled that into a page.

If you compare the fic with this comic, you can see how much dialogue I edited and moments I cut out. I couldn't fit it all on without having to draw even more pages, I wish I could though! Poor Mumbo only gets one line here. I'm so sorry my darling man <3 I also gave him a slight cyborg design because his implants are really important for his character and I needed some way to visually show that, even if it's not canon/mentioned.

The colouring method for this was really fun! It's similar to my aggie rainbow painting method but with less steps, hence narrow value range. It looks pretty and gets the vibe across well though.

I drew page 2 first, then 3, then 1. I think you can tell!

Mumbo is sitting on the wrong side and should have his seatbelt on. He's also not carrying the stolen laptop as described.

It's explicitly noted that Mumbo cannot scan Grian like he can with Scar. Whoops!

Transmissions from the Foundation are via Mumbo and Scar's implants, but I couldn't think of a good way to portray that.

Despite guns and weapons being mentioned, I somehow didn't get the opportunity to draw a single one.

I love hand lettering. I also hate it! I will continue to do it.

Ok so a hermitcraft s10 au where it is just the hermits living weird but also plausible lives in some town/city somewhere.

Pearl, Tango, and Etho are mail workers trying to live out their normal lives. But Pearl's Brother/relative/longtime friend Grian has somehow started a fishing cult… and now he's got a job for the government. Oh brilliant.

And local zoologist, Mr. Scar Goodtimes, is being terrorised by snails that the local fishing cult leader/government worker, and his partner in crime - a certain Gemini Tay -, insist are from space.

Also, the mafia and the resident mad(ist) scientist are competing to monopolize the wood industry but the town's resident poet and puppet master Joe Hills is up to something (or maybe just being himself).

The local ministry has a skull and they all wear hats. Noise complaints for fireworks are the number one thing reported to police. Cleo runs a very successful cat cafe/bookstore. There is a (sword) fight club in the Japanese district. Graffiti might become a problem soon. There is now a river, somehow. And local mustached inventor almost ended the fishing cult by accidently almost scamming the leader out of his prised possession.

hermitcraft au where the hermits just all live in the same building. beef and iskall are neighbours and argue with each other through the walls over the stupidest shit.

grians appartment is constantly flooded. no one knows how he does it or why.

mumbo gets locked out of his appartment like every day of the week and has to climb through the window because hes embarassed constantly asking for help.

scar and stress smuggle animals into their appartments even tho theyre not supposed to. god knows how many cats stress got from the streets. no one knows how scar managed to get a horse into his appartment.

i have no more ideas right now but thats it.
