people bitching and moaning about fob "turning mainstream" as if that was never the entire point of fall out boy. that's In the goddamn dna of the band, it's baked into the ethos of why the band started in the first damn place. to be accessible to kids and especially to girls, who were often ridiculed and shunted out of the hardcore community. to be a gateway to bands that aren't as mainstream. to comment on the society they live in, as they live in it. people act like fall out boy "turning mainstream" was some kind of "betrayal" when from the start they were seizing on the trends of the time, putting their unique, unhinged fall out boy spin on them, and shooting them back out as a funhouse mirror. take this to your grave capitalized on the pop-punk zeitgeist that was big in the late 90s and early aughts and put their own spin on it: enmeshed catchy choruses with high-dexterity lyrical & linguistic skewerwork. infinity on high was basically a massive critique of the scene they were in - this ain't a scene it's a goddamn arm's race is a fucking thesis statement on what it is to be catapulted into fame in an industry that wants nothing more than a thousand cookie-cutter copycat acts of a successful formula, and fall out boy WAS the formula everyone desperately wanted to emulate. american beauty / american psycho blended sampling and modern hip-hop stylings with polished pop-rock and pointed those songs back at the snapshot of the 2010s we all lived in: commenting on racial injustice and the freeze-frame nature of relevancy. but even then they weren't doing it quite right - because fall out boy never does things quite right, they're never quite conventional, whether it's wentz's darkly confessional lyrics double-bagged in metaphor or stump's distinctive clear tenor or trohman's inescapable rock 'n roll edge or hurley's thunderous hardcore-punk-rock soul.

this band has always been too clever for its own critics, is the thing. but then, they always knew that. they knew they had a thriving fanbase of largely female fans so they were going to be mocked and belittled and ridiculed. they weren't quite right. they weren't quite so easy to market. pete wentz had to have all his hard edges filed off and cut down to size, skin lightened, literally whitewashed ("i feel like a photo that's been overexposed") to hell and back, even as he was marketed as the pretty boy of the band. and the other three members never even bothered with the spotlight: the soft-spoken vegan straightedge anarchist drummer and the wry, wisecracking, whip-clever guitarist who was more concerned with being the connective tissue than anything and the reticent vocalist who sang the words and wrote an awful lot of music but wasn't really the guy fronting the band. wentz's charisma carried the band, because the rest of them were really just some guys and never aspired to be anything else.

fall out boy is too pop. fall out boy is too mainstream. fall out boy isn't the real poster child of the emo movement. other bands are better. even within fall out boy's own narrative, they are repeatedly ignored, sidelined, and belittled, as though they weren't one of the only acts from the big 00s emo-pop movement to successfully not just survive the transition from the aughts to the '10s, and then later from the '10s to the '20s, but to thrive in it without banking on nostalgia. this band was supposed to be a flash in the pan. they weren't supposed to last and they weren't supposed to get big. they started off in joe's parents' attic because joe and pete were sick of how exclusionary and homophobic the hardcore scene was.

i think it's high time that people acknowledge how fall out boy has repeatedly succeeded where most of their other peers failed. cunning, clever, capable, and hyper-aware of the space they occupy in the culture surrounding them. that they are just as powerful, important, and artistic as any of the other bands in the scene that others might deify at their expense. that they deserve a hell of a lot more respect than they get from critics or hardcore punks who think they sold out. i hope one day they get that recognition. because they've earned it, time and time again, and the more i see people pushing back against that, the more certain i become of its inevitability.

TRANS MALE PASSING PROTIPS

Targeted specifically at trans men who have not begun medical transition, but for anyone. Of course, this is just what works for me and everyone is different.

Shorts that fall mid thigh and are baggy can work really well to make a more masculine figure. This is a trendy style with cis men, and if they are looser on your thighs you can look more rectangular. Basketball shorts are always fine, but for bigger people can end up sticking to your thighs and making you look like a masc lesbian. Looking like a masc lesbian is so so common guys this is what we are trying to avoid. See here for reference

2. WALK WITH YOUR SHOULDERS. Walk like your shoulders are the widest part of your body. Move them kinda forward and backward. Watch a video of a man walking next to a woman for context on what I mean. Women walk with their hips, and it makes all the difference for you in someone's head. Practice in the mirror before doing it so you don't look like a fool.

3. Hair!!!! I know you guys don't want to let go of the 2020 fluffy boi haircut and that is ok. If you don't want a skin fade short haircut, there are other options. Also, if you belong to a subculture, like punk/emo/whatever else there is, look at male styles as it can be very different than what is normally accepted ( for example, men have long hair in metal subculture, you can style it like them). In general, hair is very meticulous, as for some people too short is masc lesbian and too long is woman.

This kind of hair can do wonders. For men of color/curly hair people, if you are not out locs are a very good option as they are typically read as masculine but are gender neutral. Afros, braids, even skin fades with a lot of hair at the top can read feminine. Another style option could be short cornrows that end at the neck, twists, or a fade with less hair at the top like this.

I am not black, so I cannot speak for how this would be read in a black community, but this is how, from my experience, I would view the hairstyles. Sorry if this is not appropriate. Also, I am not here to tell you not to dye your hair. It can work if you style it with masculine clothes and are dressed in a specific style like emo or scene or something. Do what you will with that.

4. If there is ANY peach fuzz on your face, make the most of it. I know I have high testosterone levels naturally, so I grow facial hair a little, but if there is enough to dye it, dye it. If there is like barely any, if its not visible in the mirror if you're really looking (not INSPECTING), it's probably not worth it, and that is fine. use your judgement, and if it is not enough, just shave it. It's better to look clean shaven than desperate for face hair. Eyebrows, mustache hair, sideburns can all be darkened with eyeshadow, brow brushes, and just for men beard dye.

5. LAYERS. I know you guys have seen this one before. Flannels, button ups over black t-shirts, zip up hoodies. It might get a little hot, but it covers your sweat stains anyways. I promise guys it helps so much with shoulders, hips, boobs, it makes you look more masculine. Don't get that ugly ass red and black checkered one though. Think if you would see a masc lesbian wearing it and use your best judgement. I heart layers.

6. Pants. Woah. Pants. I HATE pants I know you fat trans men get me. Old navy women's jeans...and you guys won't like this one...are actually pretty good. SPECIFICALLY the sky high wide leg ones. Get those a size up and cuff them, wear them low on your waist, perfect. Other than that, jeans are shit. I don't really waste my time with men's pants anymore because of my hips but cargos are great, baggy sweats with the band at the bottom are great, PJ pants good, dress pants are a struggle but I've heard dickies work well for people with a smaller body. Not sure though. My tactic is I go to a thrift store for hours and try on all their pants, then find similar ones online or take pictures of the brand for the ones I like and find more.

7. Accessories and jewelry. Iffy. Anything you could describe as dainty, if it's not a family thing or important to you, probably not. Friendship bracelets are good, pendants are good, earrings depends on where you are and what you are wearing. Studs in men are common where I am, so I wear them. Observe the cis men at your disposal. Accessories, bags don't really matter unless they're like the strawberry hot topic mini bags. Don't get those at all those are fugly. Mini bags are not great in general, just better to get something else. Watches are heavily loved here they look very male and also you have the time always even a cheap watch is fine just not a woman's watch. It has to be a men's watch. You can tell when it is a woman's watch don't get those. Nail polish is fine no one cares, it's more popular now with boys. Especially if you're a little girly pop already. Of course that also depends on your environment.

8. Stance. Sitting with your ankle on your knee is comfortable and way more masculine than crossing your legs. Confidence. Fake it until you make it because cis men are so arrogant guys. This is what I mean btw

9. Don't be afraid of being feminine. Don't give up being yourself in order to be masculine. Your happiness matters the most. Love you bye, I'll update this if I think of anything else.

What Escaped from home au about?

Hello! I'm glad that you asked. This will contain a lot of rambling. The Escaped from Home au takes place where Puppets and Toons exist in the real world (or put it: The Au takes place in the same universe as Roger Rabbit and Bonkers). The main focus is Gen, a former Wally Darling backup puppet who managed to escape from the Playfellow Workshop a year prior to its abrupt end.

Despite being a puppet, Gen witnessed the absolute horror house known as the Playfellow Workshop. The only reason why he escaped was before everything went to hell, a puppeteer quit their job due to the mismanagement and their concern for their own mental health. the puppeteer managed to leave with a sentient Wally Darling backup, and ever since, Gen (he named himself) strides to avoid being associated with Welcome Home, the studio, and most of all: Being Wally Darling.

Welcome Home has been off the air for about 50 years, therefore Gen has witnessed the growing world and had been experiencing a whole kind of entertainment from Toons, Puppets, and everyone else in between. He's a huge fan of the 70s punk scene and knows how to wield a guitar. (He doesn't like to be labeled as "emo"). He does a lot to distance himself from being recognized as a Wally Darling. Gen also does not like to remember his times being at the Playfellow Workshop. He thought he was all alone until years later during the 50 years, he met June, a Sally Starlet backup who survived the ordeal on whatever happened at the studio is was taken by mechanics at one of Toontown's local auto repairs. She's well-customed to her community and therefore knows her way around town. It was believed that puppets are more susceptible to damage given their felt and flammable nature, however, June wants to prove them wrong.

Unlike Gen, June has a few fond memories as Sally's backup but she isn't the star of the show, June often wanders around the studio to see the busy mechanics at the workshop, being fascinated by it. She isn't as used as Gen when they were backups, therefore she treats the show as a distant memory. All fine and dandy until the duo found the website of Welcome Home and everyone who they talked to before increasing their questions on what happens with the show. That's where Gen is being forced to confront his past while, not having the same experience, June is helping him among the way. There are more characters in the thinking process but I'm getting more solid on what the "Howdy" and "Eddie's" roles will be. The former works at the Toon Communes helping out out-of-the-job entertainers while the latter works deep underneath the Toontown streets. This is what happens when I'm obsessed with the idea of being an actor au but overanalyzing what is like to be a man-made entertainer.

I remember how I had a very minor, barely-there jaskaveawn (or whatever tf their ship name is) fic idea that’s like a ‘fresh start’ trope with the absolute slowest of slow burns and it’s these four coming across each other post-tdpi. and it came abt bc I randomly imagined dave in one of those hairstyles where his sides are shaved or one side is, and the hair at the top (and maybe the other side) just flops together on that side. like punk vibes dave who stops giving a shit and is just tired now. this man def had an emo phase, I bet, and I’ve no doubt he would adopt the punk style (at least the general looks) if motivated

but abt the fic idea...

dave was rescued from the island due to lawsuits and his family’s influence, but everyone else assumed he was a goner and that niggling bit of guilt/regret is still there in the rest of the three (bc y’know they’re all good ppl who do have some form of connection with him, despite it all). then sometime later there’s a confrontation at a bar between dave and keith—who fucking hates his guts after the finale—and somehow dave ends up from being in an alley, close to hyperventilating bc of how grimy it is, to waking up with a hangover in jashawn’s apartment/house, and he ends up staying there, temporary at first but it stretches as time passes bc he’s drifting around with no tether; he's lost physically and metaphorically, and while he doesn't want to ever see the three ppl who, in his eyes, took part in making him this way, there is a smaller part (that grows with every interaction) that yearns for it, the touch, the acceptance, the grounding support of normalcy; he craves it but he, too, is filled with regret and shame--especially when he sees sky for the first time since the incident, and finds out that she, jasmine, and shawn still keep in touch. he feels out-of-the-loop, but he also feels he deserves it. what he did went against his believes of normalcy and he hates himself for reacting so 'abnormally extreme'. and then there's sky who doesn't know how she feels anymore so she suppresses it and honestly doesn't want to see dave and that doesn't change drastically until much later; then there's jasmine who takes sky's side more but is partially willing to hear dave out, and shawn, who's more or less the opposite (leans toward dave's side, but also sky's bc he gets both sides) like he's also stuck at the center of all this bc dave did inadvertently try to kill him too in his spite--but with all four of them in the same apartment, things get a little...well, something starts to grow. (plus there are some more keith cameos here and there that bolster that growth, though I'm sure he doesn't mean it to lmao). overall the fic touches upon the idea that every character is capable of growing and redemption, the concept of perception, how they live post-td with former competitors, but also the utter angst and panic and misunderstandings, and yeah. in my head, it’s a rollercoaster and I’ve these random scenes mapped out that I’ve no idea how to connect lmao

Emo Girl

TITLE: Emo Girl PAIRING: Rooster/OC RATING: T CHAPTER: One-shot SUMMARY: The Dagger Squad meet Rooster’s girlfriend for the first time.

[A/N - Yes this is inspired by “Emo Girl” by Machine Gun Kelly.]

Makeup covered the counter of Kimber and Rooster’s shared bathroom. Rooster’s ship would be docking within the hour, so she needed to get going. She finished her eyeliner and picked up Rooster’s favorite lipstick. After applying that, she took one last look at herself in the mirror and grabbed Rooster’s keys to the Bronco.

Before Rooster left, she lovingly teased him that he loved the Bronco more than her.

Rooster just shook his head and said, “No. I love the Bronco just slightly less than you.”

On the way to the dock, Kimber jammed out to her favorite band that she had turned Rooster onto the last time they rode in the Bronco together.

“Who is this?” Rooster had asked her.

“Oh you wouldn’t know them. They’re up and coming in the punk scene.”

Rooster laughed. “You think I don’t know punk bands?”

Kimber rolled her eyes. “Roos, your idea of punk music is Blink 182.”

“They’re punk!”

“Yeah, in the 90’s maybe.”

That sparked a passionate debate about what was considered punk music.

Kimber pulled up to the dock and got out of the Bronco with her umbrella. Many people gave her odd looks, but she had learned to ignore them over the years.

She saw Penny and waved. They’d had dinner a few times while Rooster and Maverick were gone when they got lonely. Penny saw Kimber as a daughter and Amelia saw her as an older sister she never had.

Kimber sent a text to Rooster. Hey, I’m here and waiting.

Can’t wait baby. 😉

Kimber smiled. Sure, Rooster’s special mission had only been a few days, but she always missed him when he was away.

Rooster stepped off the boat with Jake, his phone in his hand. He sent a text to Kimber. Where are you?

Before Kimber responded, Rooster heard Jake say, “Yo, what’s up with Wednesday Addams?”

Rooster’s head shot up.

There she was. Dressed completely in black, fishnet stockings, combat boots, pale as a moonlit night, and holding a black umbrella over her head. She looked like a walking corpse, but he thought she’d never looked cuter. Her lips were coated with his favorite cherry red lipstick that often stained his neck, mouth, and the collar of his dress whites.

Rooster smiled and ran over to her.

“Rooster!” she squealed as he hoisted her up in his arms, “Put me down you brute!”

He put her down and said, “I’ve missed you, cara mia.”

Kimber smiled. “I’ve missed you too, mon cher.”

Rooster finally leaned down and kissed her.

“Is anyone else like really confused?” Jake asked.

Rooster had mentioned he had a girlfriend, but no one expected their sunshine Rooster to be dating the daughter of Darkness.

Rooster put an arm around her waist and led her over to the Dagger Squad. “Everyone, this is Kimber. My girlfriend,” Rooster introduced.

Everyone was dumbfounded. Rooster and Kimber looked like night and day.

Maverick walked over to them and hugged Kimber. “It’s good to see you again,” he told her.

“You too, Mav.”

“Wait. You knew?” Jake asked.

Maverick chuckled. “Yeah. They’ve been together since high school.”

“Wait. What?”

Phoenix, who had served with Rooster before, said, “How come you never told us about her?”

Rooster shrugged his shoulders. “It just never seemed that important.”

Kimber put a comforting hand on Rooster’s chest. She could tell he was starting to get angry with everyone asking questions.

“You can’t completely blame Rooster,” Kimber said, “We get stares no matter where we go and I can’t count the amount of times people have asked him why he’s with me. Most people can’t see past the dark makeup and black clothes. They all think I cut my wrists or worship Satan and eat babies or something.”

Rooster looked down at her with love shining in his eyes. “That’s what drew me to her. I saw the way people looked at and treated her. It made me want to get to know her better. Best decision of my life.”

“So…if you’re so in love with her, why haven’t you married her yet?” Jake asked.

Rooster turned to him. “By that logic, why haven’t you married Phoenix yet?”

The blonde’s mouth dropped open. “Because I…because we’re not…” Jake shook his head, grabbed his bag, and stormed off.

“I think you broke him,” Kimber said.

Rooster shook his head. “Nah. He’ll back to his old self in the morning. Let’s go home.”

“Great! I found a great new band while you were away. They…” Kimber rambled as they walked back to the Bronco.

Rooster didn’t understand what she was saying, but it didn’t matter. Because he was home and had his emo girl back.

Anyways, I go through waves with these ideas. Now, I think the main thot that has been circling around in my head has been a band au. Ever since Stand Atlantic dropped their new album and Neck Deep released a new song and I backslid into my TSSF era, I’ve been like obsessed with the idea of Toni in a pop punk band.

I’ve read a few band/singer fics and, feel free to read this with the most pretentious voice you can muster up because I’m aware of how it sounds but, some of y’all don’t know what pop punk/punk rock/rock music is and that hurts me. I love the stories, the fics are great and incredible and amazing. It just takes me out seeing some of the song choices but like I get it, I guess. Not everyone is into the whole heavy guitar screaming about how you hate your dad and your hometown thing. Y’all might’ve left your emo phase but I never did baby 🧍🏻‍♀️🤩

Plus, I am just personally turned on by the idea of Toni on stage yelling at the crowd to open the fucking pit up. Meanwhile, Shelby who is definitely not a part of this scene and did not dress appropriately for a concert like this is left kind of staring around in confusion because wtf is the “pit”?

I’m sorry if this comes off as rude but I’m so tired of the emo/edgy aesthetic that everyone seems to have nowadays. It’s getting overused and boring. Maybe it’s just because I’m into coquette and old money but it’s so ugly to me. Especially the snc friend group. They’re all into the same things. Idk, but it’s getting tiring to me. I just wish someone would come on who looks different, acts different and into different things. That would be so refreshing to see.

i didn't know that was the name for that aesthetic. that type of style is so pretty to me, but i also know i would never be able to dress like that all the time or even often.

i've been into emo/punk/scene aesthetic and general fashion since i was 11/12. and have basically dressed that way since then. i've definitely gotten a lot better at stylizing and whatnot, but the idea has always been the same.

and while i get what you mean to some extent, i also don't think there's anything wrong with ppl wanting to dress darker now. i feel like for a long time, especially for me growing up, i was expected to dress girly or aesthetically like what you enjoy. and when i didn't feel comfortable doing that, i was seen as weird for it. but i felt more weird pretending to wear clothes like that.

i think that as long as ppl enjoy what they're wearing and they feel like it's expressing who they truly are, there's nothing wrong with exploring different aesthetics or trends or whatever. i think it's good to always remember that while some are just dressing trendy, a lot of ppl feel comfortable dressing in this style. this is their expression, and just bc it became trendy doesn't mean they're lying or trying to fit in with everyone else.

every style was popular at one point. even yours haha

the trend of adding "core" at the end of random shit makes things makes things harder to search for first of all, second usually whatever thing they're adding "core" to already HAS a name, and its stupid and useless to add core for no fucking reason.

And I'm too tired to make my next point make much sense but it's also a genuinely dangerous game ya'll are playing here. Most "aesthetics" come from specific counter cultures. Counter cultures that aren't inherently entirely about the fashion itself, but the MEANING behind it. Goth and emo kids dressing in dark makeup and purposely looking creepy WAS for fun but also it's a specific form of rebellion. It's making yourself unpalatable to people who just want you to conform. Punk, emo, goth, scene, lolita, decora, menhera, they're fashion based yes, but at their core they were created as a means to rebel. To specifically go against the norm because they already were being outcasted. It's finding community and love for yourself even when others don't.

adding -core to a random word has no community behind it, and no purpose. It's redundant. why would i look up "frogcore" if that just means images of frogs? i would just look up frogs.

it's a shallow way to make something more trendy sounding. It creates a false sense of community without there actually being anything close to that.

I get it, cottagecore got mega popular so everyone decided to just tack on -core to everything else because you wanted to feel like you were participating in a cool trendy aesthetic thing. cringe culture is at an all time high and people are very pressured to make their interests 'cool' for others instead of just enjoying it for themselves. I genuinely do get why people do it.

its just. we've turned every image into a fashion trend. -cores become like fast fashion, where what's popular can shift in an instant and the moment it does! omg quick! frogs arent cool anymore you have to buy things with images of clowns now! make your whole life clowns! dont ask yourself if you actually like clowns, everyone else loves clowncore so it MUST be good!

or quick! put -core at the end of every other word when you tag something. just in case. no real reason. theres no community or gain from doing it lol. also dont forget not to tag it as the actual words because we dont care about people who try to blacklist things hashtag seacore oceancore watercore aquacore underwatercore fishcore wetcore lakecore puddlecore :)

So if you’ve been to my YouTube, you may have noticed that I’ve been making compilation videos of Danganronpa TikToks involving ships. One reason why I’ve been doing this is because people on YouTube like Just Kichi haven’t been making compilations of their own, so I decided to make some of my own (mostly because of boredom). Lately, I’ve been getting requests about what ships I should make compilations of, even though I’ve said that I don’t take requests. So for this blog, I’m going to share a list of ships that I wish I could actually make compilations of, but can’t for the following reasons. I’ll also share a list of ships I won’t be making, either because I don’t like that ship or because someone else made their own compilation and I don’t want to compete with them.

First these are ships I wish I could make compilations of. Even if I do make one, I expect the video to be at least over three minutes long.

Celesfumi (Celestia x Hifumi) There’s a lot of hate surrounding Hifumi, so I doubt anyone would want to see something like this. Not to mention it’s a culprit x victim ship, but apart from that, after learning about the beta design for Hifumi’s sister, it got me thinking that maybe Celestia would be a good match for him. Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of content of this ship on TikTok.

Sakushiro (Sakura x Kenshiro) Kenshiro is Sakura’s boyfriend, but I’ve never taken the time to search for this since I figured I wouldn’t find the results I’m looking for, so I’m gonna pass on this one.

Asakure (Yasuhiro x Aoi) Just because they have dark skin doesn’t mean they’re meant to be paired together. But seeing that Aoi had Yasuhiro’s baby in the DR1 bad ending would be a better reason this ship could work. But I think Asakure is a real Japanese name, like, when I searched for it, it brought me to some different series, so searching for Yasuhiro x Aoi content might be challenging.

Terusonia (Teruteru x Sonia) Yeah, I know, everyone hates Teruteru and he tried to get Sonia to do sexual things with him. Of course no one would want to see this, or even make a TikTok with the two paired together.

Terupeko (Teruteru x Peko) Again, Teruteru figured out what kind of panties Peko wears, so of course everyone would hate to see these two paired.

Komateru (Nagito x Teruteru) Remember in Despair Arc when Teruteru said that Nagito is in his strike zone? Even though this is a gay Nagito ship that doesn’t involve Hajime, it’s not a popular one.

Mitworai (Imposter x Ryota) Not a lot of content of this ship on TikTok, so I don’t think this will work out.

Komaegi (Makoto x Nagito) Very tempted about this one. I’ve made compilations of Makoto being shipped with my waifus, so I’m not even sure if I would wanna make something like this which is different. Apart from Nagito holding Makoto’s hand in Hope Arc, Komahina supremacy is just annoying and is enough to make me ship Nagito with someone who isn’t Hajime. In fact, the other gay ships involving Nagito, like Komaegi and Soumaeda (Kazuichi x Nagito) are kinda underrated. So if I had to make a Komaegi video, it would be because Nagito should at least be shipped with other males besides Hajime.

Kaimatsu (Kaito x Kaede) I could give this one another chance, but I doubt the person on TikTok will allow me to use his content.

Tojouma (Kokichi x Kirumi) Not a lot of content of this ship on TikTok. Most of the content involving Kokichi and Kirumi paired is more of a reference to how characters like Kokichi only treat Kirumi as if she was their mother, and canonically, Kirumi hates being called mom.

Sairumi (Shuichi x Kirumi) I like shipping Shuichi with my waifus, but this probably won’t work for two reasons. One, there’s not a lot of content about this pair. And Two, the fandom ruined Shuichi by calling him emo. Not to get off topic, but I forgot to include this in my other blogs. I’ve read that there are people in the punk and metal subcultures who hate the emo scene and stereotype. That whole stereotype about dressing in all-black, having an eye-covered bang, expressing negative emotions or suicidal thoughts, and wearing heavy makeup to resemble glam rock. True emo is nothing like that, and yet everyone made a mockery of it and weaponized it so that they could convince people that that's what emo is all about, but it’s not.

Saimugi (Shuichi x Tsumugi) Saimeno (Shuichi x Himiko) Sainaga (Shuichi x Angie) and Saigiri (Shuichi x Kyoko) Again, making compilations involving Shuichi ships would be a pain in the butt for me, because like I said, the fandom ruined Shuichi, but that’s just my opinion. Out of these four, Anige isn’t one of my waifus, but the fact that her last FTE involves her convincing Shuichi to marry her is one reason a ship like that could work out.

Kirugoku (Gonta x Kirumi) No, it’s not because they were the culprits. Gonta likes arthropods, not just insects, but also arachnids like spiders. You know, like the cobwebs Kirumi has. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a lot of content about this pair on TikTok.

Ryoma x Maki - Not only does this ship not have a name, but it’s super underrated. Like, no one on TikTok pairs these two together, and I’m probably the one who invented this ship (or not).

Matsushima (Yasuke x Junko) While there is some content of this ship, I can’t tell if they are shipping TikToks, so I don’t think I’ll be making a video for this one. Not to mention that I’ve never read Danganronpa Zero.

Syonia (Sonia x Genocide Jack) A very small amount of content of this ship I found, but no one would probably find this to be interesting.

Leon x Kanon - Couldn’t find anything good for this one, and it does contain incest, so I don’t think this will work out.

Tokofumi (Toko x Hifumi) In the spinoffs, Toko does try to open up to the stuff Hifumi likes to write. But again, the fandom hates Hifumi and there’s not much content of these two paired together.

Gokumeno (Gonta x Himiko) Not a lot of content of this ship on TikTok.

Ships That I Won’t Do

Next, I’m going to explain a list of ships that I probably won’t be making compilations of. I apologize if one of these is your favorite ship.

Tojoshi (Ryoma x Kirumi) I can only see this as a culprit x victim ship. In a blog that I wrote, I said that I kinda understand this ship better if you imagine Kirumi in Shuichi’s place during Ryoma’s Love Suite Event. But I just think there’s plenty of other characters you can ship Ryoma and Kirumi with.

Shinnaga (Korekiyo x Angie) Again, it’s another culprit x victim ship. Let me just say that these are the only culprit x victim ships I actually do like. Leosaya (Leon x Sayaka) Chimondo (Chihiro x Mondo) a little bit of Band Aid (Ibuki x Mikan) and I guess Amamatsu (Rantaro x Kaede). I just can’t picture Angie being a good match for Korekiyo, sorry.

Gokuiru (Gonta x Miu) Apart from Gonta killing Miu, the scene where Miu strips naked to scare off Gonta would be a better reason to ship them, but I don’t think this one will work out.

Junkan (Junko x Mikan) Highly controversial ship. I’ll probably be hated if I ever make such a video.

Despair Sisters (Junko & Mukuro) Not sure about this one. It’s not to be confused with Junkuro which is incest, and most TikToks where Junko and Mukuro are paired is more like a sisterly relationship, not romantic.

Monocest (Monotaro x Monophanie) Such a video would’ve been a joke, but again, it’s another incest ship, so I’ll have to avoid it.

Shingujicest (Korekiyo x Korekiyo’s sister) While there are TikToks with Korekiyo’s sister, they probably don’t involve shipping these two.

Chiakiro (Chiaki x Chihiro) I’m more into the headcanon that Chihiro and Chiaki are relatives, and I don’t see a lot of people on TikTok shipping these two.

Monisa (Nagisa x Monaca) They’re underage, so of course I won’t be making such a video.

Kirumaki (Kirumi x Maki) I don’t want to picture Kirumi doing the dark stuff Maki does.

Sonibuki (Sonia x Ibuki) I’d rather not see Sonia be enthusiastic about Ibuki’s music.

Sairuma (Shuichi x Miu) Miu is among my least favorite characters, and again, the fandom ruined Shuichi.

Goshi (Gonta x Ryoma) Aside from high differences, I just can’t picture Gonta being a good match for Ryoma.

Gontaguuji (Gonta x Korekiyo) It's not because they were the culprits, I just can't picture Korekiyo being a good match for Gonta.

Ships People Have Requested

As I said, I don’t normally take requests, but I’ll include my opinion about the types of ships people requested, which is only these three.

Ounaga (Kokichi x Angie) While this one is tempting, it’s not exactly one of Kokichi’s most popular ships. And somehow, I’m having trouble seeing Angie as a good match for Kokichi.

Celeskuro (Celestia x Mukuro) Again, another tempting one, but this one has a small amount of content compared to Ounaga. I couldn’t even find an article for this on the shipping wiki. And you know how Celesgiri (Celestia x Kyoko) is popular even though they only had a few interactions? This ship, along with other Celestia and Mukuro ships, probably wouldn’t be any different, so while making a video would be tempting to make it fair with Celesgiri, I’m not even sure if I would wanna make such a video.

Gonta x Keebo - Never heard of this ship, couldn’t find anything about this ship on TikTok, or a name for it on the shipping wiki, and I don’t see Gonta as a good match for Keebo.

Ships I Would Make, But Others Have Made First

This is a list of ships that already have compilations on YouTube by someone else. They mainly include some of the more popular and familiar ships. I’ve seen some compilations by Just Kichi that I admit I wasn’t fond of even though I love the ship. But if I made my own compilation for that ship, it would be like I’m competing with them and I don’t want to be doing that. It’s like this, everyone on TikTok uses the same songs over and over again, and the unfortunate part is that there aren’t a lot of TikToks with my taste in music, and I find it a little bothersome. Like, everyone on TikTok plays music that’s pop, hip-hop, dance, techno, indie, and emo. You may have noticed that my compilations don’t have a TikTok where you have to take a look at someone’s girlfriend. I'm sorry, but I just don’t like that song.

Anyway, these are ships Just Kichi made compilations of that I wasn’t very fond of.

Saimatsu (Shuichi x Kaede) Not only did the fandom ruin Shuichi, but if I tried searching for this ship on TikTok, I would have to deal with Saiouma fans flaming this ship which I won’t enjoy.

Sondam (Gundham x Sonia)

Hinanami (Hajime x Chiaki) I would make one of my own, but then I’d have to deal with hate from Komahina fans. Not to mention, I’d be a little anxious with what kinds of games people would have Chiaki play and I don’t want it to be any kind of game I’m not into.

Yonameno (Angie x Himiko) I tried making this one of my own, but most TikToks where Angie and Himiko are paired also include Tenko, making this a trio. After reading this blog, I think just Angie and Himiko, without Tenko, would be better. I was able to make a compilation of my own.

Thinking about what kind of music Nick listens to... He's my age. Does he have assorted taste like me? Does he have a more specific taste? Rock? Pop? Classic Rock or Metal? Rap? Hiphop? R&B? Country? Showtunes? I don't think we ever got a glimpse in s1. We got a sample of Alicia's taste on her mp3 player. But not Nick.

Did he go through middle school, rocking out to pop punk, watching Fuze TV? Was he so fucking done with how they played Modest Mouse's Float On every .2 fucking seconds? Did he like Good Charlotte and Simple Plan? Did he have a fucking emo phase, or was he a scene kid? Neither? He definitely wasn't a jock (he confirmed he wasn't into sports.) I bet he was the weird art kid, but how did he express that??? I NEED TO KNOW! How important even is music to Nick?

I guarantee he listens to fucking Green Day, because like, who fucking doesn't? but like... what else? He's from California. Did he catch like, all the Rancid shows? Social Distortion? Does he prefer the local indie bands?

Like... I could go by my own experiences, but I'm not sure that's fair? I most definitely hung out with all the stoner kids, while never actually smoking. It was offered. Drugs were offered. I didn't want them. I drank with my friends behind the school. We had bomb threats. We listened to all the kinds of rock sub-genres. We blasted American Idiot. We went to concerts for local bands. We went to local clubs for bigger bands. We saw Fall Out Boy in a tiny club. We wore Tripp pants, and ripping jeans, and fishnets and striped socks. We wore mad thick eyeliner, and fingerless gloves, and too many safety pins. We didn't have labels, but everyone tried to label us. We didn't fit in anywhere but with each other, and we didn't want to fit in anywhere else. Also we were all fucking queer?

But what about my Nicky? He was the stoner kids I hung out with. Not the douchecanoe that blew smoke in my face, but the ones that offered a toke, and gave zero shits when I didn't want it, because more for him. He was the idiot playing Chicken. But what else? Did he spend too much time at the mall, wasting all his allowance on DDR?

I need to explore this.

The Darkness – Permission To Land

Flash back to the year 2003. Emo and punk bands are gaining traction in the mainstream in a way that had never been seen before, and hair metal bands seemed to be all but forgotten. So what was a band like The Darkness to believe in when record labels seemed largely disinterested in signing a band that was such an unashamed throwback to the 80’s hair metal era? The Darkness stormed onto the music scene in the fall of 2003 with a single that made major traction called “I Believe In A Thing Called Love.” The music video was hilariously ridiculous, but the music that accompanied it was a blast of guitar-driven rock & roll that sounded different than anything else on the radio. The single did so well in the United States that the band was able to book a headlining tour of major clubs that largely sold out across the country. The beauty of The Darkness’s debut, Permission To Land, was that the band never took themselves too seriously, and was willing to go all out in their love for the hair metal genre, and re-capture the spirit of the 80’s in an entirely different decade. As surefire of a hit as “I Believe In A Thing Called Love” was, it’s hard to fathom why Atlantic Records put two other singles (“Get Your Hands Off My Woman” and “Growing On Me”) ahead of it in the promotion cycle. The album kicks off with the guitar bliss of “Black Shuck,” with the lyrics being based on the legend of a dog that haunts a church of nearby village of Blythburg, and highlights lead singer, Justin Hawkins, captivating ability to go from a crisp croon to a rewarding falsetto at the drop of a hat. ”Get Your Hands Off My Woman” follows the raucous opener with a track about respecting the personal space of females, and the edited version of the song features a funny replacement of, “Get your hands off of my woman mother fucker,” with “Get your hands off of my woman melon farmer.” These little lyrical swaps didn’t do much to avoid the moniker of the band being labeled as a playful take on the hair metal genre. Add in a song called “Growing On Me,” that appears to be about genital warts, and it’s hard for the band to escape that label of being a bit of a parody. The songs are still a blast and a half to listen to, even if the lyrics are as wild as you can imagine. Permission To Land also features some great hair metal ballads like “Love Is Only a Feeling” and “Holding My Own,” that helped to balance out the material on the record. Other standouts like “Givin’ Up,” and the pop guitar bliss of “Friday Night,” further accentuated the band’s ability to re-capture the spirit of the glory days of the genre, even if they happened to be born in the wrong era. The expansive, near six-minute song “Love On the Rocks With No Ice” is an instance of where the band tries to reel in the silliness of their lyrical material, but it seems a tad out of place in an album filled with unabashed, feel-good anthems. The Darkness captured lightning in a bottle on Permission To Land, and the album has since been certified Gold in the U.S., with even further success in the U.K. by going 4x platinum overseas. The band has since released five additional albums to add to their discography, and will be celebrating their breakthrough debut LP through both a deluxe and standard vinyl reissue, paired with a headlining tour of the states to play the record from front to back. While naysayers may write off The Darkness as a parody of the hair metal genre, it’s really hard to not enjoy the music that blares off the speakers when Permission To Land comes on. “I Believe In A Thing Called Love” made everyone want to air guitar that blazing solo at a time when bands were taking themselves a bit too seriously, so that’s what made The Darkness so refreshing. let black women exist outside of your perception: part two

hello hello, welcome back! today’s blog post is going to serve as a second part to my previous post. we are still talking about the representation of black women in alternative cultures, but this time i am going to be focusing on the fashion aspect of things. i’m going to talk about my favorite people: alternative black girls. as an alt-black girl myself, they have a special place in my heart and they deserve SO much praise.

alternative subcultures, or at least ones like emo, grunge, goth, and punk all have an underlying meaning to them where you are rejecting the status quo. with that, it is supposed to be this welcoming, inclusive environment. but as we can tell from my previous post, this fundamental part of their principles is lost. these spaces are still predominately white, and this is shown by a simple google search. if you were to type “goth girl” or “emo girl” into the search bar, what would you see? your screen will be consumed by most, if not all, white women. where is the diversity? the inclusivity? nowhere to be found. this is a problem because it plays into the belief that rock music and the fashion subcultures that come from it are just for white people when it's the complete opposite. just because you do not see any diversity does not mean it's not there.

however, i feel that this is one of the reasons why people feel inclined to make comments like “oh, you’re the whitest black girl i know,” “you’re an oreo,” or “that’s white people shit” toward black women. the erasure and belittling of black women and other women of color within the scene makes it so they are not seen, thus making people outside of it believe that it is just a “white people thing.” the comments are not right either way, since it also highlights how there are little to no in-person spaces for black alternatives to meet up and interact with each other.

despite this, i do feel like things have improved with the help of social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. black alternative girls are seeing each other and feel more comfortable being themselves all because of the internet. it’s amazing! this is what helped me feel more comfortable in changing the way i do my makeup and dress. it’s so helpful to see bigger faces like baby succubuz and dani dissolve not only exist on the platform, but also to see how much of a following they do have.

another way that black women are carving a space for themselves within the scene is through the brand glam goth beauty, which is founded by a black goth woman named marley. marley has been in the alternative scene for a while, with over 200 thousand followers across all of her social media platforms and fell in love with makeup in middle school after listening to amy winehouse and attempting to copy her eyeliner. she later reframed her relationship with makeup as she entered adulthood, going from doing her makeup how everyone thought she should to doing her makeup the way she wanted to. this is something that i feel that i can relate to because trying to do your makeup like everyone else does not guarantee that it will look as good or feel like yourself. marley recognized that there was a different kind of beauty that she was aiming for, but its not the one that everyone else wanted.

when it comes to her brand glam goth beauty, it all began with a client needing a certain glitter for their makeup and it went on from there! they have varying products from glitters, to lipsticks, eyeshadow palettes, clothing, and jewelry that have all been made in the mission to diversify the goth scene. two products in particular, the blood rose lipstick and the dark renaissance palette, were both made with black women in mind. the lipstick is a cool-toned red as opposed to warm-toned so it would mesh better with black skin. the palette, which features marley posing as Mona Lisa, was made so more black women would see themselves as works of art.

overall, i feel that there has been a lot of progress made in creating space for black women in the alternative scene. but, of course, there is still work to be done!

Vampire NCT to smelling blood that leads to them to find their soulmate who is human?

Johnny Version

It was uncommon for anyone who wasn’t a donor, or willing joiner of the scene, to walk through the door of the tattoo shop that played as a cover to one of many blood banks for vampires in the city. Although there were a few nondonors who’d make their way into the shop every now and again, it wasn’t everyday that someone would walk in who’s completely unaware of the major business that this shop really catered to. because of this, Johnny is intrigued to hear from other sources that one “client” has walked in who seemed to have no business being in the shop, especially since that person was found out to be someone who isn’t even interested in getting a tattoo from the area.

Due to his job as an overseer of the business, making sure that his kind and the business aren’t found out by authorities and shut out/run down and/or captured, Johnny has all of the vampires and donors in the private rooms and private areas notified of the suspicious uncommoner and has them ordered to halt all donations and activities until things are cleared up.

When he walks to the front of the shop that plays to the fantasy of being a normal, average tattoo parlor at the end of a street Johnny is prepared to meet a human who meets the description of an investigator or spy of sorts (his parlor has had plenty of those come around, increasingly often, as word of the world of the vampires existing among those of the humans has been getting out and making ways over the decades). That or he expects to meet with someone who falls under the same culture of those who typically walk into the store: alternative individuals who clamber to serve those who belong to the world of the macabre- punks, goths, emos and such. What he’s met with instead is you, an individual who seems lost and curious over anything else- an easy fix that he can drive away so that the business can get back to functioning.

Johnny approaches you and inquires about your visit to the parlor, when he receives the reply that you had changed your mind about just looking around, his intrigue only brightens slightly. So you do want a tattoo after all, well, all of the artists are currently busy behind the scenes so he’d have to be the one to give you what you want. He lets you peruse from the plethora of designs hung up around the shop and stuffed into portfolios, all the while keeping guard of any suspicion that this was just a disguise, until he senses that you’ve found what you’d want. When he sees your choice, he’s happy to find that you’ve chosen one of his designs.

Johnny makes quick work of setting up the area and preparing the supplies to tattoo you so that he can get the tattoo done and send you on your way before everyone in the back grows restless. What he doesn’t expect to happen is that once you’re in the chair and the needles begin to dig into your skin, you begin to bleed and a smell like no other invades his senses. many a client have bled before but their blood has never effected Johnny the way yours does, it takes everything in him to avoid his eyes turning and his fangs from protruding, his nerves pulse like 10,000 watts of energy are being surged through his veins, electrocuting him from within. He tries his best to stay steady and calm but the smallest drops of blood that seep out of you as he continues to work his design into your body drive him further to the edge. Without warning, he jumps back and races to the back where he can enter the private areas and clear his mind.

When he arrives in one of the areas, Johnny is met with inquiring eyes and voices as donors and his comrades both ask if he’s ok. He can’t help but heave as he tries to gain some clarity, he doesn’t even realize that he’s explaining what has happened until other vampires approach him and rest their arms on his shoulders, helping to steady him as he seems to nearly drop to the floor in shock of the intensity of his recent reaction to you. They press on his shoulders to get him to squat down and take a moment to gain control of himself. As he’s on the floor the others inform him of the affects that take over when a vampire has met their soulmate, all of which Johnny just experienced. Everyone quietly congratulates him on finding his soulmate although they are aware that you have no idea of the situation at hand. Some of them leave, only to come back with you in tow.

Upon your arrival in the private area, Johnny is standing back up but his eyes have dilated and his fangs have protruded against his will. When he looks to you he sees the look of fear in your eyes upon noticing the change in his persona and stance (not to mention all of the pairs of eyes that rest on you as you are kept in the room) and he feels bad for what he knows is about to come, which will surely only serve to confuse you and terrify you even more. One of the other vampires informs you of your ties to Johnny as a soulmate and explains to you that Johnny has to take your blood immediately or he could turn violent and take you against your will, all that Johnny can hope for is that you understand and let him take from you willingly since he doesn’t want to fight you, especially when he’s unaware of how he’ll react if he has to use force to get to you.

Moments feel like years as he waits for a reply from you although he knows that you’re undoubtedly more in shock at the moment than he is but Johnny can wait, he hopes, he can wait to find out how the beginning of his life with his soulmate will play out. What he hopes for is a good beginning but he prepares for the worst. As he waits, as the others wait, as you try and fathom what is going on and come up with a reply, everything seems overpowering and increasingly unbearable. As he waits, Johnny hopes that he can take your blood willingly so that this feeling within him can die out so that he can return to normal again. As he waits for your reply, he hopes that his soulmate will choose to join his side happily.

“this isn’t something that you no I could imagine y/n. You and I are both in shock but you need to understand that time is of the essence here, I need your blood or I will go crazy and I could possibly hurt you. Please don’t make me hurt you, let me take your blood so that we can both be safe and be happy together, ok? I promise I’ll be gentle. Just like the needles, you’ll only feel a slight pinch, just imagine that I’m finishing your tattoo ok? Y/n, please understand that I have to do this no matter what you choose so please make this easy on both of us and let me take your blood willingly ok? let me take your blood, let me claim you, I have to do it no matter what.”

The ending to this is sloppy and I hate that I couldn’t really come up with anything for him to say other than something that seemed repetitive. Please excuse all of that.

I just want to pop on and say something.

Last night I was on tiktok and saw this series about artists (mainly punk/emo) who have changed their genre over the years.

In the comments people were giving suggestions for the series. A lot of people were saying "Do Fall Out Boy!" "Fall Out Boy fell off, do them!" just absolutely shitting on the band.

Everyone hates on Fall Out Boy, but forgets how much they've done for music.

With that in mind, let me provide some FOB history. Their album Folie À Deux was a revolutionary album. The band, especially the lead singer, Patrick Stump, was very proud of the album. The sounds and lyrics were ahead of its time during the release.

And because it was different than their regular content, people, including diehard fans, got pissed. They hated the music. So much so, haters would by tickets to FOB and cuss out the band, the music, throw shit (I think that happened too).

This was so disheartening to the band that it caused their big hiatus.

When they built themselves back up, they released the Save Rock and Roll album with the movie. That is another impactful album. Nearly every song off of it has been in a movie other than what they produced. The song Save Rock and Roll itself speaks to how much the band and Patrick love what they do and just want to help those around them love it as much as them. And how it hurts when that isn't reciprocated.

Hmmm, I wonder why he'd say that.

But despite the love for their come back and album, there was still a few who wasn't for it. That group grew larger when the America Beauty/American Psycho album was dropped. With Immortals and Centuries charting as high as they did, being mainstream was what diehard FOB fans hated once more.

And the real shit show came about when in 2018, Fall Out Boy released MAN I A.

Mania was a complete differ from everything they had done up to that point. There's a moody, purple haze over all the tracks. The feel is still Fall Out Boy, just... different. More up to date. The pop punk scene has just faded out and Fall Out Boy wanted to transition to keep up.

Mania is a heartfelt album. The experiments with sounds and Pete Wentz's lyrics is incredibly well done. The song Bishop's Knife Trick is reminiscent of the earlier Jet Pack Blues. You can hear the impact Folie À Deux in the album. That album is clearly the direction the band wanted to go in, but their selfish fans don't understand and respect that.

Maybe that's why they haven't released another album in so long. Maybe not, I don't know.

But that comment section is one of many I've seen filled with negativity about a band just trying to make what they love–––what they're passionate about.

All of Fall Out Boy's fans just shitting on everything they do isn't fair. If you don't like the music, gladly fuck off.

Because there are people, myself included, who love it. Who used Fall Out Boy to grow their taste and love for music. I wouldn't listen to all of the beautiful artists I do now without FOB and I'm so grateful for everything else the band has unknowingly done for me.

I'm just sick of all of the Fall Out Boy hate. It isn't fair to the fans and the band. If you don't get the message that's on you. Shut up and move on.
