my babygate thoughts after watching AOTV
I want to start off by saying that these are just my opinions and I am in no way, shape, or form indicating that I am apologizing or justifying my believed closeting of a queer individual. Nor am I making apologies for someone that I do not know nor will ever know. That being said, I do feel that I am allowed to draw my own personal conclusions given the evidence presented before us and make my own critical decision based on the content.
I do not believe Freddie is Louis' son. I honestly will never believe that he is biologically Louis' son.
That being said, I do think that AOTV did an interesting job of framing the Louis/Freddie relationship in the  midst of talking about his family and the role he is so often put in. For instance, I believe that AOTV is more of a film of self discovery and reconciliation of the self than anything else. It's framed about one man's struggle to find where he belongs and if he even deserves it. So in some ways, it's an introspective film about Louis' outlook on himself as an artist, as a brother, as a friend, and as an individual.
Given the way that Louis and his sisters talk about him, Louis has always been in the role of 'protector' and 'big brother'. Even in the band, there was a sense that Louis was the oldest and that he was 'the boss' because of his skill in voicing and sticking up for the rest of the boys. We have seen it time and time again from the way he's protective of his siblings to the way he was always so involved in the `1D days. This is a man who prides himself on taking care of others and making the best of situations - a fact that I will bring up later.
When it comes to babygate and the deals and trauma that surround that, I do believe that Louis had limited say in the matter. Much like the example in the film of the producer that gave Louis hope but ultimately did his own decision on the song, Louis' life in One Direction didn't come without a slew of managers and music company people who had a say in it and made decisions. I do not think at the beginning that Louis was allowed to give much imput or control over the happenings behind the scene. As 1D went on break and Louis was able to navigate his own career with a little more freedom, I do think that input changed but considering how much of his life is hidden behind contracts and NDAs, I don't think the truth will ever be told in its entirety. And honestly, I am okay with that because at the end of the day, it's Louis' life and I am just an observer.
So, when it comes to Freddie now, I am of the opinion that Louis is more of an 'uncle' or 'family friend' to him. Given the limited amount of time we actually know they spend together, probably equal to how much Louis has seen Doris and Ernie, one can speculate that Louis isn't a constant in Freddie's life. More of a randomly visiting family memmber than a core fixture. We never hear Freddie call him Dad. We see Freddie multiple times look at the camera during the film and on other occasions such as the holidays where it feels like he's being prompted to interact with the family. It's the same feeling of seeing an uncle at Christmas that you haven't seen in ages. You know them but you're not 100% comfortable.
So, why even bother? Why does Louis make any effort at all?
I think it comes down to him being in the role of protective older brother. If there is nothing he can do about babygate, if there is nothing he can change about the narrative now, the very least he can do is make positive memories with an innocent child. I mean, what would fandom prefer? Every time they're stunted together that Louis just ignores Freddie like he's Eleanor? Found somewhere in the background looking miserable?
It's making the best out of the worst situation. Because one day, someone is going to explain all of this to Freddie. And yes, I do believe it's unfair and it's cruel to the child, but we also don't know what he's being told as his own narrative. Maybe he knows Louis as his 'Uncle Lou' or 'The UK family'. We just don't know. But what we do know is that when Louis is with him, he takes on the role of big brother. He plays with him, he gives him good memories, he provides experiences just like he did/does for his younger siblings. It's shown in the film with the way he kisses the baby twins. It's Louis being a stand in 'father figure' or 'big brother'.
I'm not saying it's right or that it's the way it should be. Honestly, I don't think closeting should be a thing at all. It's grossly unfair to everyone involved. But the Louis I know, the man we've all loved from the very beginning, would never allow himself to be cruel or cold to someone innocent. And I think he's doing the best that he can given the circumstances.
And I hope one day when Freddie finds out the truth, at the very least he can look back and be like 'Yes, this was unfair and unjust and completely inappropriate. But all I know of this man is the kindness and the fun and the good times. He didn't cause me more pain.'

Public Figures Owe You Nothing
Same thing, different fandom. Now, my first soiree into internet fandom was Glee nearly fifteen years ago. Given insane popularity of the show and one of their two main couples, Klaine, and Darren Criss being a straight man, I am no stranger to the "only gay (out) queer actors should play queer roles" argument.
I don't necessarily disagree completely. Queer actors should be highlighted in queer roles. But guess what, the film industry is shit.
Not everyone is out, can afford to be out, is ready to come out publicly, or cares to have anyone in their business. There is a huge number of fans who are way too invested in the parasocial relationships with their "favs" and cross lines.
It's a tale as old as time. Darren Criss' now wife, Mia (Swier), was mercilessly harassed online and honestly in person. I distinctly remember people MAILING her things. There was an incredible amount of hate directed towards her because SHE wasn't a HE and a group of fans were hellbent that he and Chris Colfer were secretly in a relationship, even though both were happily in their own relationships. (Both of them are actually still IN those relationships and I love that for them.)
Someone gave Dannell Ackles (wife of Jensen Ackles) a gift at an event. When she reached it she was cut by a bunch of rusty hooks in a fucking voodoo doll.
One of the NSYNC members (I can't remember if it were Chris or Joey) ended up being broken up with by their partner at the time because of the amount of hate they were getting.
This came up because someone said on instagram that they "will not be watching [RWRB]" because [Taylor and Nicholas] "are not out" and "they are gay for pay". So, me being me, says to them that the actors owe you nothing. Their sexuality/gender identity is no one's concern but their own.
Also, it was really disgusting what alot of Heartstopper did to Kit. He's just a baby and they strong armed him to coming out before he was ready and made him feel like he had to justify it. Cruel irony being that it's the exact opposite of the point of the books, and exact opposite of his character. I'll never forgive them for what they did to my son.
I went on to tell them that Hollywood is shit. It's homophobic, racist, sexist, xenophobic, transphobic, everything phobic. They like beautiful and handsome, classically beautiful, white, straight actors that fit into their perfect mold. As soon as actors come out they get type cast, lose rolls (because how could a homosexual portray intimacy with a woman? It's not like they are actors or anything). I, of course, got blocked because they didn't agree with me and that's fine.
Did you know that many actors in the union don't even make the $26,000 a year that is required to qualify for health insurance? Most actors are working class. Yes, many acquire a net worth, but it's honestly one huge disaster from losing what they have. The median salary for actors in the US is about 60K a year. So why would a working class actor or even a upper middle class actor, want to potentially dismantle their career trajectory by telling something that is really no one's concern anyway?
Not everyone wants to be stuck in a Ryan Murphy rotation. Maybe once we get more queer film and show makers and Hollywood execs start to fuck off we'll get more. I'm 99% sure that RWRB is the ONLY gay romcom without underlying trauma porn. The only other one that comes close is a Christmas movie.
Actors are still human and deserve privacy. They owe fans nothing. Their partners deserve privacy. If they are queer good for them. If they are not, good for them. But fans don't get to dictate who comes out and when. So yes, we want more queer actors in queer roles, but we don't get to decide if the ones who are not open get to have these roles. Sometimes it is who is best for the role.
As far as RWRB: Neither Taylor nor Nicholas have ever made any public statements on their sexuality and are both private people when it comes to their relationships. It's really goofy that people think it's an appropriate question to ASK them personally. Interview or not.
All that matters to me is that they killed that online and the characters they acted were madly in love with each other.
Moral of the story: they can want someone and love some one and not want that life for them. Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka were together for three years before they came out and that's when NPH came out - at 34 on his terms, as it should be. Some people really missed the message of the book; that queer people deserve to come out when and how THEY want to.

What exactly is empathy?
Back with more Nate meta - shocker! At a basic level, empathy is about widening our perspective to understand where someone is coming from. It doesn’t mean actions taken are acceptable or justified, but it’s an exercise in looking for insight and extending compassion. One thing I’ve noticed can go missing in analysis of Nate’s choices is the limited POV he has throughout the show. People are quick to judge him for his reasoning in the latter half of S2 without recognizing that he’s missing crucial insights, often because he is not in the scene which would provide it. I want to highlight a few examples that I think show this limited POV and, hopefully, indicate where he deserves some grace.
Of course, a straightforward example of this is the picture Nate gave to Ted for Christmas. Nate couldn’t help but notice it’s not hanging in Ted’s office, and that became emblematic to Nate of the abandonment he was feeling. We the viewers know that Ted has the picture on his bedroom dresser next to his picture of Henry. Nate doesn’t know this; he has a limited POV, so in my view it’s a lot kinder and more empathetic to give him grace on that one. But what tends to happen is that a detail like that gets sublimated into justification to continue criticizing Nate. For instance, instead of feeling sorry for Nate, feeling compassion for his limited perspective in that moment, the thinking becomes judgemental and defensive: Why should Ted display it in his office? Ted doesn’t owe Nate that. Nate needs to get over himself.
People tend to be similarly hard on Nate for the moment in 2x11 when he says, “There we go. Give Ted another idea he’ll take all the credit for.” We have a wider perspective than Nate does. We know that Ted doesn’t take the credit; in fact, Ted credited Nate for his decoy play back in 1x03. It’s a great moment that shows us Ted’s integrity - he doesn’t take the credit for that, even when Trent Crimm is audibly horrified that Ted would entrust such a thing to the kit man. It adds to our growing love for Ted as a character.
But crucially, Nate doesn’t hear a lick of it. Nate is yards away kicking dog shit off the field. His POV is limited in the scene, so he entirely misses that lovely moment of Ted giving him the credit. We’re also privy to the article Trent writes at the end of the episode, and he doesn’t mention in there that Nate came up with the play. Why would Nate have any idea that Ted gives him the credit?
“That’s the job, son,” Roy says to Nate. Putting aside that they’re roughly the same age, so it’s more than a little condescending, this comment from Roy doesn’t address the void Nate’s feeling of validation and approval from Ted. In 2x12, Nate says, “And I... I worked my ass off, trying to get your attention back. To prove myself to you. To make you like me again.” I wish people would take these words at face value instead of using them to continue justifying uncharitable readings of Nate’s behaviour. I wish more people would put themselves in Nate’s shoes and imagine for a moment what it felt like to be in the sunlight of Ted’s kind, supportive attention in S1 only to feel like he’d done something to lose it. Imagine wondering what you did wrong to lose the attention and care of the kindest, sweetest man you’ve had the fortune of meeting. Nate is feeling Ted’s absence so keenly by the time he lets it all out in 2x12. He feels invisible and occasionally even outright replaced. Ted laughs at the idea of him being a big dog, and god, that has to sting so much, and then he brings Roy in as coach. People are quick to gloss over this moment, but it’s a crucial one for understanding how twisted up Nate is starting to feel. If he truly thinks Ted doesn’t like him anymore, then imagine what it felt like for him to be the subject of Ted’s laughter and for Ted to subsequently bring in someone he wouldn’t laugh at? And in the episodes following, Ted’s giving Roy the attention Nate craves as the wins pile up, and to top it off, those wins are largely attributed to the Roy Kent Effect.
Ted isn’t there for Nate’s big moment of glory in 2x06. We know why he wasn’t because we got a lot of Ted’s backstory. Nate didn’t. He has no idea what Ted’s going through. One big takeaway from the show is that we don’t know what the people in our lives are going through, and that’s another reason to be kind and empathetic to each other. So yes maybe Nate should have been able to connect some of the dots, particularly once Ted confessed he’d had a panic attack. Maybe he could have given Ted some grace, but clearly Nate was going through some of his own toxic stuff that made him miss a few things, just like Ted. And really, it’s not like people are giving Nate grace given what we know of his struggles. Nate doesn’t realize the extent of Ted’s mental health struggles because Ted doesn’t let him in on it, just like Ted doesn’t realized the extent of Nate’s feelings of abandonment.
One moment I find so brilliant for highlighting just how much Nate wanted specifically Ted’s validation and approval (to make you like me again) is the fact that Roy gives Nate credit and validation for his big win. He tells Rebecca the win was all Nate (but, crucially, Nate isn’t in the room for that) and then afterward he says, “Oy, Nate, great fucking work today.” I think to Nate it feels more like getting validation from a friend or brother. It’s the kind of thing we like to imagine will make a difference and build us up, but usually it doesn’t quite do the trick, not when it isn’t coming from the person we most want it from - in Nate’s case, Ted, and on a deeper level, his father.
In 1x07, when Ted is at one of his lowest points in the series, he lashes out at Nate. We know why he did. We understand that he has to sign his divorce papers, to essentially quit his marriage, which kicks up a bunch of his emotional triggers around quitting due to feeling like his father abandoned him. We also know he’d been drinking. So, we give Ted plenty of grace in that moment because we have the full picture. Nate doesn’t. Of course, Ted apologizes for treating Nate like that the next time he sees him and Nate forgives him instantly. It’s a lovely moment that again showcases what a thoughtful character Ted is, that he can earnestly apologize. But it’s also a lovely moment that shows Nate’s capacity for understanding and forgiveness when he’s been wronged.
As has been discussed a lot since the end of S2 aired, this conversation outside the locker room in 1x07 is the last time Ted and Nate have a one-on-one conversation before the scene in 2x12. I think it’s easy to overlook this turning point in their relationship and to think that everything’s been patched up in the apology, but the damage from that moment in front of Ted’s hotel room is substantial. I did everything I could to make you like me again. I can’t help feeling like Nate looks back on that night in Liverpool and feels that was the moment everything changed, the moment the attention started to shift, when Ted stopped liking him.
I wish more people would extend to Nate the same compassion we gave Ted following his angry outburst at Nate in 1x07. We all make meaning from the limited perspective we have. Nate was lacking important insight throughout much of S1 and S2, and that was compounded by feelings of inadequacy and abandonment. And I think when it comes down to it, Ted knows exactly how that feels. Empathy widens perspective. Ted’s not going to bask in schadenfreude; he’s going to extend empathy and compassion because he gets where Nate is coming from. He won’t take his pain out on Nate, even though Nate did that to him, and if we admire Ted’s capacity for forgiveness and understanding, this is the test of our own.
I hope fandom can rise to the occasion in S3.

Things I'd like to see in season 3
Slight Spoilers Ahead!
--A callback to "A Pinky and the Brain Christmas" in "How The Brain Thieved Christmas". Nothing too big, I want the two-parter to do it's own thing and not be a rehash, but it's hard to imagine that there wouldn't be a reference to it given that the reboot often references events that happened in the first show and the PatB spinoff. Maybe reveal that Brain still has the globe keychain, something like that.
Tumblr media
--If Slappy does indeed return (and it seems like she will), for Slappy not to be softened. Not that I think it will happen, but this is their first time writing for Slappy in the reboot, so I expect her characterisation will be at least a little different. Which I'm fine with as long as they don't change her morality. I say this mostly because the last time she had dialogue was Wakko's Wish, but she felt a bit too mellow in that. She's not like the Warners who, while I won't deny often act in self interest, do tend to help people in their own zany, annoying way ("La La Law", "Hooked on a Ceiling", "Magna Cartoon", etc). Slappy, on the other hand, only really looks out for herself and Skippy, and can be way harsher because she lacks their moral code ("The Sound of Warners"). This is the same woman who tried to blow up up a critic's house whilst she thought he was inside all because he didn't think she was funny and threatened to blow up a jury if they didn't vote her not-guilty on a crime she technically did commit...and then when they did she blew them up anyway. Not that she's never justified, she keeps to herself often only does this type of thing in retaliation (the previously mentioned jury were clearly biased against her), but still, let her be mean and violent!
Tumblr media
--Assuming Slappy comes back, for them to include Skippy. He was already in "Good Warner Hunting" and was shown to still be a kid, so aging him up isn't an option, meaning he's either gotta be left out or be re-casted. I'm really hoping they just recast him, there's no need to write him out just because his original voice actor is no longer a child. I don't like it when characters are written off or killed off just because their original voice actor can no longer do the voice, it feels unnecessary to me. If Slappy is on her own then fine (because let's be honest she's the one we watch her segments for), but Skippy brings out the best in her, I think he should be there.
--More Scratchansniff in general, but specifically him acting like a father towards the Warners (in more than one episode). Nothing too cutesy, the Warners will always find ways to stress him out, but I much prefer it when he's attempting to take care of them.
--Hopefully a satisfying ending to Julia's story, but given that they didn't know season 3 would be the last when writing this season, it's not likely. Not their fault if this one doesn't happen, I'd be happy enough to see her return.
--A FULL WAKKO SONG. Multiple Wakko songs actually, that would be great. I do prefer the other two Warners over him but they each have multiple songs in the reboot whereas Wakko only has one so far-"Gruesome Ol' Gruel"...and it's like 50 seconds long. I think he deserves more (Yakko got four in season 2 alone!) Scratchansniff has more songs than Wakko in the reboot so far. Granted, he didn't sing much in the original series so it's great that he sings more here, but him getting more new songs than a main character is kinda weird. Well, I guess you could count "Hot Washed Buns", but I don't (that one's even shorter than "Gruesome Ol' Gruel" anyway). I think this one is likely, season 1 focused a lot on Dot and season 2 focused a lot on Yakko, so maybe season 3 will do the same for Wakko!

What's something you *don't* think Kate would/will do well in terms of adjusting to her new role? What would be the hardest for her?
Well, we know that she is perfectly capable and gifted at arranging the family finances and raising her family for success against incredible odds.
Something that makes me think "Oh... she might not know how to handle that..." is the sudden access to wealth she will have as Viscountess.
The Bridgertons are an old and rather wealthy family. Even if Anthony has had to work hard at the books all his life, they can survive without him (Kate and Anthony wouldn't have been able to have left for a six-month long honeymoon if they would have been bankrupt in a week without him). So maybe the idea that she doesn't have to make sacrifices quite so much will be a relief but also an adjustment. Every time they can pay bills at the modiste without issue and pay so many servants thieir wages without a qualm, Kate's hand shakes a little when signing it off. And she sometimes goes to Anthony to check an amount because "can we really pay this amount?" Anthony has to assure his wife that it's perfectly fine and, even if it isn't, it's nothing they can't work out.
But even worse is Anthony's 'treats'. Anthony's love language is showing affection - whether that be constant caresses, kisses while out in public or buying her things. Kate at first thinks the gifts of flowers, jewellery and dresses are just a honeymoon quirk - it will calm down in time. But it doesn't. Anthony keeps buying her presents and... she IS grateful. But also uneasy. She's never been given so much and what she has received normally has conditions. So when Anthony gives her access to the Bridgerton funds to 'buy whatever she wishes' she tries to match his gifts as a means of feeling worthy of them. Anthony buys her books; she buys him a new quill set. Anthony buys her a dress; she buys him some new waistcoats. Anthony is extremely touched but notices something: why does Kate's face fall a little when he tells her he got her something? Doesn't she like the presents?
It comes to a bit of a head at Christmas. She's been worrying about what to get him for weeks and buys him some nice things. Then he goes and one-ups her by buying her a beautiful race horse.
She tries to look thrilled (it truly is a beautiful creature) but months and months of trying to put the best face on things proves too much and Kate breaks down into tears. And not happy tears. Anthony is terrified, confused and wondering what he's done wrong until Kate laments that her presents didn't cost as much as his did. And she can't justify spending so much of his money.
Anthony calms her down (seeing Kate in such distress is absolutely horrible) and assures her that it's their money, not his. And she doesn't have to match him in order to feel 'worthy' of anything. He doesn't expect recompense for his efforts - he just wants to see his wife happy and to give her everything she deserves.
Kate knows that 'love is not something that is owed' - but it will take time to believe.
(This is me projecting as someone who cannot take people spending money on me. In my family, gifts have strings attached and can be thrown in your face if you don't do what they want in the future. As a result, I loathe and detest presents now. Because I'm always waiting for the other shoe to drop.)

#brain is very: gotta tell all my favorite episodes and also make little editorial notes on my least favorite episodes
Please don't hold yourself back from sharing them!
ok as far as episodes go, bear with me, there are seven season of this show lol...
There are some episodes that are among my favorites because of small side plots that happen in them, but most that are on here take their place because of main plots. I'm going to bold my very top picks:
Pilot (it's rough, as most pilots are, but important set up)
The Yellow Truck (because heartwarming Christmas)
It All Happened So Fast (Jim 😭)
I'm Still a Cop (just stanning Pete ok)
A Dead Cop Can't Help Anyone (Ed is 🙃 and Pete is incredible)
Good Cop Handle with Care (some journalists just shouldn't)
Pig is a Three Letter Word (😩 but Jessie Smith is The Best)
Baby (stanning Jim, the moron)
Once a Junkie ( 😭 TJ)
Hostage ( PETE 😭😭😭)
SWAT (just a good intense episode I guess?)
A Rare Occasion (plot is ok, I'm here for the Reeds+Pete bit 😍)
Vengeance (solid plots, plus Walker Edmiston ok)
Attempted Bribery (my boys are Good. Boys.)
Easy Bare Rider (mostly just that part lol)
Elegy for a Pig (hhhhhh vignette of the death of an officer)
IAD (in which we stan and hug Pete)
The Search (kajdflsdjg 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭PETE)
((^^^aka the show realized in Hostage that Martin did a great job acting in agony and decided they should make as much use of it as possible through the rest of the show.)))
Ambush (any episode that puts the boys in direct peril, right?)
Assassination (same as above)
The Princess and the Pig (JIM 😭)
Back-up 1L20 (Mac deserves the world ok and Pete knows it)
Badge Heavy (😒 Charlie. 👏 Jim)
Clear with a Civilian 1 and 2 (solid, solid, we stan the Civilian lol)
Killing Ground (hhhhhhhhhhhhh don't hurt my boyyyyysss)
Suspended (JIM AND PETE ARE SO IMPORTANT TO ME)
A Fool and His Money (ehehehehe)
Keeping Tabs (this one is just so unexpectedly sweet???)
If the Shoe Fits (ehehehe plus cute kid)
Trouble in the Bank (JIM 😭)
Suspect Number One (this one hurts so much, why do i rewatch)
Excessive Force (😣😣😭😭 but so important too)
Christmas (I'm here for the tree escapade)
Operation Action (can we...can we stop trying to kill Pete please)
Something Worth Dying For 1 and 2 (...please???! also finale 😭😭)
There are so many other episodes that have little bits that are my favorite - like the toothbrush snake, all of Jim's little sideplot life capers and attempts to get Pete married, how I totally ship Pete with Juju at least to some degree, lots of other random funny incidents they have to take care of, Jim directing the drunk guy directing traffic, Pete's face whenever he encounters child abuse, Pete's spidey sense... I love Jim but clearly I'm here for Pete alright.
*"Elegy for a Pig" is hard to watch ok - I know this show is pro-lapd propaganda but it's good propaganda 9/10 times, this one just Hurts (and isn't even a proper episode really).
**Excessive Force is also very very hard to watch on the content level. This show is not overtly graphic or gruesome and it's the 70s, they don't show much. But the writing knew they didn't have to show or say much at all most of the time to get the point across.
This is already very long so I'm not going to go episode by episode for my least favorites, but the one where they end up in a ridiculous confrontation with a wrestler? Yeah that is way down low on my list lol. Essentially, when the writers wanted to show a Situation (generally based on real life incidents) but didn't have a good way to justify it happening to the characters, it loses points with me. Those boys had weapons and backup, and they're not idiots, so those episodes are not my beloved.
Also, dealing with racial issues is sometimes iffy. For example, the episode "The Militants" is... a weird one. I don't hate it. I think the writers meant well, but it doesn't come off very well and has some pretty cringe moments and dialogue where it had the opportunity to be important. Often, episodes like this feel more like they are missing the nuance and other side of the truth they're telling. (Sometimes they hit the mark better: for example, "Pig is a Three Letter Word" has the saving grace of the Jessie Smith character in an otherwise very not-nuanced look at very complex issues.) I do appreciate that the show repeatedly displays stupid racist characters being stupid and getting their just desserts.
You have to accept the hippie slang too. You just gotta roll with it and laugh a little at deliveries ok? To their credit, Pete and Jim stand up for the hippies roughly the same amount of times they end up arresting them for drugs. XD
Some people are bothered by the portrayal of female characters in the show. I'm somewhere in the middle. I think it portrays them mostly honestly as the world went at the time, and a few have genuinely great roles and characterization - sadly, not many of Pete's girlfriends are in this number. 🙈 Pete is also a bit of a womanizer but he's also pretty respectful still, he just needs help ok. Jim is great for him that way. 👏 However, there are definitely episodes where a woman has been threatened or victimized and is not treated with the concern she should be in those situations and I do yell at my tv during those moments. XD
Lastly, this show has no filler. It starts to get there a little in later seasons, but mostly it's just pop pop pop action to action. This is great, I actually love the pacing of the show. It just... it means... well it means we don't get nice little comfort scenes with the boys after most of their hard days and I would personally like a little more of that ok? (rip the end of the often cute/relaxed little credit scenes after the first couple seasons)
[end ramble, more out of steam than thoughts]

REACTIONS TO EPISODE 12 - THREADS OF HOPE
We're halfway there, folks!
The usual, jokes, guesses, pictures, fangirling over characters.
LAST EPISODE'S REACTIONS
Getting a recap, huh? You know since it is the halfway mark of the season!
Oooh, but why did they have to remind me about Crust?
Izuku sits like me. That has nothing to do with anything, but I sit just like that... has he ever actually criss-cross applesauce? Like, he sits like that a lot.
Tumblr media
I'm sorry, I just be noticing things...
Okay, Best Jeanist! Man's coming from the plane with the fibers!! Let's go!!
Imagine being Dabi. Like you just told Japan that Hawks killed Best Jeanist and then not even an hour after the video has been up, you see Best Jeanist coming at you. You unintentionally got proven to be lying about some details. You know how mad I would be?
"I just told everybody..." and see? You should just spilled your own damn business. You should have just expose Endeavor. It would have had the same effect... maybe... I don't know!
Present Mic coming in with the quirk narration! He got a lot of roles in this story...
Aw, Bakugou does care!
"That body was real." You know what, and I thought about this a lot, has anyone in this story realizes that because of how evolved the world has become that anything is possible? Like... it didn't occur to Dabi that maybe Best Jeanist's death could have been faked?
Oooh, love the fire!!
Tumblr media
I'M SORRY, the fact that Spinner thought to BITE Tomura to wake him will always be funny to me. 🤣🤣🤣 Especially, when Nejire comes and it's "NO, NO, CRAP! AYO WAKE UP!!"
DABI, WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO NEJIRE-CHAN?! WHY?! FIGHT ME!!
Okay, but clap it up for that scream! Yuki Kaji, always serving with his voice acting!

"I don't feel a thing anymore." You. Are. A. Liar!!! Because if you didn't you wouldn't have cared about Twice dying and so on! Nice try!

Spinner and Mr. Compress, I know you're not calling his name cringy. One, that is a child. Two, one of you decided POLKA DOTS was a fabulous idea of a villain outfit and the other decided to wear a top hat. Also, kinda of responsible for Midnight, so... shush! SHUSH IT!!! I like you both, but shush it, damn it!
That exchange between Bakugou and Mirio. Ha, never change, boys. 😆
I know that's his big brother, but I would not let him hug me after he had made it aware he wants to kill me.
"You're the pitiful one." That is just like a younger sibling. I would know.
BLACKWHIP: FROPPY STYLE!!
"Stay out of our family affair." This is the same guy who just blasted his family business on air. That is hilarious! 🤣
Actually, you know what, Izuku was already in the family business because of Shoto. That is also funny. Like Dabi, my guy, too late. He's already on the Christmas card.
"Todoroki is a precious friend!" STOP PLUCKING AT MY HEARTSTRINGS!! 💚
IT'S DANGER SENSE!!!
FINALLY HE DOES SOMETHING!!
FINALLY HE PASSES OUT!!! SEE, THE SEDATIVE DID WORK!! THANK YOU, HERO STUDENTS!! AND MT. LADY!

Did she have a splinter in her... now who drew that?
DID THEY HAVE TO SHOW MIDNIGHT?!
I love that Iida calls Bakugou by his full hero name. That's the class rep... THAT WE LOVE!!
"How could you get yourself defeated?" I mean, man's got jumped.
THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO PUT THAT SPINNER FACE!
OH, IT'S MR. COMPRESS' TIME TO SHINE NEXT EPISODE?! LET'S GO!
Okay, but let's applaud Best Jeanist for coming in because the guy was really holding up while missing... I forgot which organ, so no wonder he was bleeding out!

Hey Cam! Has dating a British influencer changed your opinion/thoughts on discussing/gossiping a public figure's private life at all?
no, because i have always felt sketchy about having a gossip podcast. i've written and spoken about this exhaustively. i have always felt some guilt about it. i justify the pod and blog by trying to do more good than harm.
i set boundaries and rules and try to teach readers and listeners the importance of maintaining those boundaries and rules, i use my platform to raise awareness and money for good causes and charity, and i foster a positive queer community that helps queer people, particularly queer women accept themselves, heal homophobic scars, and feel at home.
i'm under no illusion that celebs like spaces like mine, i know they don't. but celebs are very well compensated for the public being intrigued by their private lives and furthermore, they have full teams of publicists to support them through dealing with gossip and speculation.
taylor in particular got rich and famous begging the public to speculate about her personal life. she publicly trashed her exes and hid secret messages in her art. for example the liner note on the song "should've said no" is SAM SAM SAM SAM SAM SAM. a public address to her high school ex sam armstrong who she claimed cheating on her. she has done this dozens if not hundreds of times- invited the public to speculate on her personal life to promote her music and projects.
now i have trouble imagining 16-year-old sam armstrong really deserved to get publicly dragged like that over a high school relationship (should've said no is a scathing song) but that's taylor's life and i guess she can comment on it however she wants, even as she burns down a 16 year old kid.
but she does this for other people's personal lives as well. she outed scooter braun's affair in her song mad woman and his marriage subsequently ended. when it did everyone knew taylor had spilled the tea on him cheating on his wife. now, scooter braun is truly a terrible person and he probably deserved it. i'm not sure that his wife did though and i'm CERTAIN his children didn't. there's no way his kids deserved to have their family's dirty laundry aired to literally billions of people and that was likely traumatizing and humiliating for them... but hey taylor wanted to sell some records and it's her artistic expression like sometimes to make an omelet you have to break a few eggs (or break up a family in taylor's case).
so if taylor can gossip about people solely for profit and her own gain... why can't i gossip about taylor to foster a queer community and safe space that legitimately makes a positive difference in people lives? for example, we have raised money for several different queer women in need. most recently we did a drive in the discord to purchase birthday and christmas presents for the child of a queer domestic abuse victim.
gabbie, on the other hand, has not made a career out of creating art that specifically encourages speculation around her dating life like taylor has, though i'm sure she'd agree that some speculation around her personal life, while it may not make her day, simply comes with the territory of being a public figure (albeit a tiny one compared to taylor). she doesn't want to have to see it in her comments but one of my community rules is we should never EVER take these speculations to a celeb's comments or ask them about it to their face. it's a fandom activity that should stay 100% in a fandom space.
so all that said if you can't tell, i've spent a lot of time thinking about the effect my space has on people both positive and negative. i feel some guilt and shame over the negative but i always have so dating a minor public figure hasn't changed that.
at the end of the day, my community isn't really about ultra-privileged billionaire taylor swift (who, if you'll remember, talks her own fair amount of shit) and it's certainly not FOR her in any way. it is for and about the vulnerable queer community that calls it home and finds a place to heal from a life filled with homophobic beatings through having conversations about what it means to be queer, what it means to be closeted, and what it means to recognize that identity in other people. taylor's oeuvre and public persona just provide the perfect jumping-off point to foster that conversation and brings in the community.
this will be the last pod-related question i'll answer on this blog i've asked people to ask pod-related questions on @whatiwillsay so let's please do that.
i've written more about this topic(is what i do ethical or not) here and here and spoken about it on the pod here and here. i'm happy to have more dialogue about this topic but please read all my previous thoughts on the matter.

Growing Up, part 3: Celebrated
Directory
Fandom: Ensemble Stars!! Concept: an exploration of Mika's past and his growing inner psychology as presented through the celebrations of his 15th, 16th and 18th birthday (or, during his final year before Yumenosaki, first year in Yumenosaki/pre-War era, and 3rd year in Yumenosaki/!!time as calculated by the person who almost failed maths in years 11 and 12) Word count for this chapter: 2703 Summary for this chapter: A surprise birthday party thrown in Mika's honour, to show him how far he has come, how many good friends he has made, how he's not as unworthy of love as he had thought.
Warnings for this chapter: None that I can think of :> This is the fluffy conclusion to the two angsty chapters, anyway.
A mug of cocoa warmed Mika's hands as he sat on the floor, leaning against the couch, watching some comedy on the television. It was more like he kept it as background noise while he stared right through the screen itself, thinking of everything except what he was pretending to watch. It was Christmas. He had nothing better to do with himself, his roommate became active the moment the sun set, and was off wandering somewhere. Shu called him a week earlier saying he won't be in Japan for Christmas because he had further work to do for college. Asides from saddening Mika, as Shu, then, wouldn't come for his birthday either, it also made him worry about his own future. Whether he should also pursue higher education, where he should do so, what he should pursue… But it was hardly the time to worry about that. No use worrying over the future, besides, there’s not much he can do about it as is.
As he was right at that moment, he felt bored. Restless. The comedy went on forever, and it wasn't even funny, and his cocoa was becoming just slightly uncomfortably lukewarm. He wanted to call Shu, but Shu made it very clear he would be very busy, and so it just felt like a bad idea. Like he would only bother him. He could go out himself, take a walk, see the illuminations, but it was Mika. A single man walking around all alone on Christmas… He felt like he'd attract looks. Bad looks. Pitying looks.
It's not that he minded being single (and even if he did, he could do nothing about it as an idol), but the idea of being judged by random people on the street, those to whom he could never justify his existence, made him itch. Truly, he hated the idea of being judged, and yet he could only ever imagine one would look at him only for that reason. To enact judgement. For a reason, judgement can be used to mean divine punishment. A disaster, a calamity. That's how it felt to him, to be looked at. As if he was being asked for the reason why he looked like that, why he was occupying that space, why he was even born in the first place. Questions he couldn't answer. So, he would prefer it if nobody looked at him, ever. It was a mystery how he managed to perform, but he found himself able to forget how having more than one person looking at him, heavens forbid closely, feels as if he is being held down and dissected as a living specimen when he’s performing. He supposed being dressed in clothes he is not worthy of, being given songs written to be sung by those far more elegant and refined than him helped. He felt as if he put on a mask on stage, as if it wasn’t him up there, but a version of him that deserved all that praise and love. All that glory. A version of him that doesn’t feel like crying and throwing up at the mere idea of being observed by strangers.
And so Mika felt like he couldn't go out, for fear of being judged. That's simply how he felt, and it was his plan to stay in and continue pretending to watch bad comedies while drinking lukewarm cocoa, but his roommate had other plans.
Ritsu barged in, arm in arm with Arashi, loudly enough that it made Mika jump. It was a matter of luck that the cocoa didn't spill all over him.
"Mikarin!" Ritsu called out. And Arashi continued, "Get dressed, we're going out!" "Eh? N'gah? Wha?" Mika, still surprised, could only stare like a lamb. "Goin' out? Wh-where?" "The Christmas market, silly! Today's the last day it's open." Arashi let go of Ritsu's hand, instead striding over to Mika. She took the mug out of his hands (which he relinquished without a struggle, eyes just as lost) and proceeded to pull him up to his feet. "And don't even try to tell me you weren't dying to go see the lights!" "Ah, how'd'ya know? I was just thinkin' 'bout that…" "Because we're your best friends, duh?" Ritsu cut in, throwing himself on Mika's bed once Arashi dragged Mika himself over there, too. "So, you'll go with us?" "Feels like I ain't got much choice," Mika mumbled, though a big smile made his joy at the invitation come across despite the hesitant words. Arashi was already pulling his clothes out of the closet, pushing hangers against his chest to see what looked best. And he laughed along with the two of them, agreeing fairly quickly to go along with their whims.
And they had fun, truly, they did. Mika was happy he took them up on that offer, even if he felt reservations at first. Worrying about what people would think, would they judge him, would they think he was third wheeling a date, would they think he was pathetic… All of those worries simply faded away when he saw the beautiful illuminations. When the natural conversations with his best friend kept leading into spontaneous fits of laughter. When he was able to feel, for just a second, loved and appreciated. Like his presence was wanted. When he felt the warmth of a true connection. Eating street food, talking and laughing, looking at the illuminations and spending quality time together. He was happy he decided to come with them.
The night came to a close soon, however. With midnight approaching, Arashi was the first to broach the subject of turning in for the night. "It's late," she pointed at her watch, which showed about ten minutes past eleven. Exchanging a look Mika found odd with her, Ritsu nodded in agreement. "We can continue our hangout at the dorm's common room, if you guys aren't tired yet?" "Aw, I dunno…" Mika trailed off. He wondered what the shared look was about. The insecure part of him flared up, bombarding him with various thoughts to the tune of they're sick of me, but he tried his best to suppress it. He had no reason to believe that, he told himself. He didn't want to fall back into old habits. "Come on, ple~ase?" Arashi folded her hands together in a begging gesture, pouting her lip cutely at him. "You wouldn't say no to us, would you, Mikarin?" Ritsu did the same, giving him his best puppy eyes. "N'gah… Awright, jus' fer a lil bit, though, okay?"
Sometimes Mika felt like a bit of a pushover. And the bitter taste it left at the base of his throat was unpleasant, but he couldn’t help it.
The lights were off, if they could assume from just the front windows. It seemed awfully quiet. Mika was almost certain somebody would be awake and moving about the common area, and yet, far as he could tell, the whole dorm was dead asleep. Only Ritsu, Arashi, and him - returning from an evening's outing, sneaking in like burglars. Arashi fiddled with her keys for a moment, the many keychains weighing down on her hand, but she pushed the door open - to more darkness.
Ritsu held his arm out to Mika, who took hold of it eagerly, not wanting to trip over something and fall. Together, the three of them walked into the darkness, quiet as mice. While Arashi fiddled with the wall trying to find a light switch, Mika felt goosebumps rising on his skin. The uncomfortable feeling of being watched. He squeezed Ritsu's arm, ignoring the horror addict in him filling his thoughts with monsters and killers that crept in the darkness, waiting to pounce and tear their unsuspecting victims apart.
The light was turned on, and…
"Surprise!!" The clock had hit midnight. A symphony of voices. "Happy birthday, Mika!"
It was as if half of ES had gathered in the common area. A cake placed on the dining room table, banners and balloons decorating every corner, smiles filled the room. Smiles directed at Mika. A part of him wanted to shrink into himself and disappear, uncomfortable with being the centre of attention. But another part of him almost enjoyed the way they were smiling at him. It made his heart skip a beat. Everyone here, here to celebrate his birth, to act as if he was important. Everyone, everyone, even…
"Oshi-san?!" "Happy birthday, Kagehira!" Shu had a used party popper in hand. Though never smiling, Mika could tell he was happy to see him. As was Mika. "I thought y'were too busy. Weren'cha gonna stay in Paris?" "You know I always aim to be ahead of schedule. Indeed, this time it worked in both our favours. I finished my work days ago, so I decided to fly in earlier. Aren't you happy to see me?" He was smug as always, but the airs he put up did little to cover the new bags under his eyes. Imperfections. Yet, if he was tired, he did little to show it. "I sure am!" Mika was quick to agree, smiling ear to ear.
"I'm… so happy I could cry," he was now addressing the entire party, "Y'all did all this fer me?" "But of course! Your birthday only comes once a year, you know?" Arashi gently ruffled his hair (and was scolded by Shu for it, but it took only a single look from her to get him to acquiesce). "It just felt appropriate that we celebrate you on your birthday," Hajime added, before pointing to the tea he had prepared just a little earlier, offering Mika a cup to warm up.
And Mika felt like he could cry, really. To be celebrated on his birthday, to be treated so kindly and lovingly. He found it hard to believe that he wasn't just dreaming. That it was real. He couldn’t remember the last time he had a proper birthday celebration. In his youth, he never had the time nor money to celebrate his late-December birthday. Later on, he never felt important enough that his birth should be celebrated. (And if even his parents decided to throw him away, what point was there in celebrating the day that never brought anyone joy?) And now, suddenly, he was standing in the common area, talking with people who seemed happy to talk to him. Being offered sweets and drinks. Asked to open presents, even. When was the last time he'd gotten a birthday present? That DVD, that motivator to enrol in Yumenosaki. The butterfly whose wings' flapping caused this very party to happen.
And even the party itself was something he was given a choice to reject, to discard. When Arashi pulled him away from the crowd to check up on him, which he needed, he would admit, he was given both a choice and an excuse. "Are you doing okay, hun? I know you're bad with having the spotlight on you…" "N'ah, yeah, 's fine, Naru-chan. It's a bit scary, but I'm doin' peachy fer now." "I'm glad to hear! You just let me know if you want to step outside, okay?" "I will. Thank ya kindly!" There was not a single part of this event that wasn’t planned for him, with him and his wishes and comfort in mind.
It was a fun night. In the end, Mika did have to step outside with Arashi once or twice. After all, he was still himself, still shy and panicky when put under a spotlight. But he never gave up, he always returned to it. He wanted to feel the friendships he had made. And the fact that he was able to talk and laugh and eat with so many people he can now call his friends truly made him happy. Most folks retired around one in the morning - understandably tired and wanting to get some rest. Shu himself left shortly after, at half past one. He fixed Mika's collar and gave him a bit of a speech before he'd left. "I expect to see you grow even more as an artist in this coming year," he monologued, "and remember you were given this life, these talents, for a reason. Do not squander them for laziness or practicality. Nurture them. Develop them. Show the world what you are capable of. Make everyone who ever doubted you regret it." It went on for some time, but Mika swallowed every word of it. Mika knew Shu wanted him to succeed almost as much as he himself wanted it. Even though he now knew his methods in the past were less than ideal, he still kept the view that Shu just wanted what was best for him.
The only difference was, now it was left up to Mika to decide, freely and for himself, whether he wanted to accept Shu’s advice or not.
It was perhaps around 3am when the last of the idols left, the party people, the night owls. Ritsu and Arashi stayed the latest, though Arashi ended up falling asleep on the couch, leaned against Ritsu's shoulder. Ritsu himself was getting drowsier the closer sunrise was approaching, and they knew it was about time to say goodnight and until tomorrow.
Mika gently nudged Arashi awake. It took her a few moments, but she immediately got to groaning. "Oh, my! What time is it?" "It'll be four any minute now," Ritsu answered, yawning and stretching. "Sorry, boys, I fell asleep…" "Ya sure did. But ya didn't miss much. We woke ya up 'cause we're 'bout to head back, too. Didn't want'cha to get a cold from sleepin' here." "Aren't you two such gentlemen? Thank you!" She yawned. "I think it was good. Mika-chan, did you have fun?" "I had a lotta fun!" Mika beamed. There was something pure in his smile, a show of his true feelings. He had so much fun it almost makes him sad that the night is over. "That's what's most important," Ritsu nodded solemnly. "Since it was your party and all." "Ya both planned it, didn'cha? Thank ya kindly, really. Y'all made me so happy, I can't even describe it."
It didn't take long for a hug fest to start. Arashi pulled Mika into a hug the moment those words left his mouth, awwing and cooing all the while. Naturally, Ritsu was pulled in as well. And so, Mika cradled in Arashi's arms, her arms around his back and his face in her neck. Ritsu hugging Mika from the back, his arms wrapped around Arashi's back. And they all swayed ever so lightly like that, simply enjoying the skinship, the physical touch, the show of friendship. "We should go to bed," Arashi whispered, but made no move to separate. "We should," Ritsu agreed. "We really should," as did Mika.
The hour passed well into four by the time they were all tucked into their respective beds. And it was well past five by the time Mika's heart calmed down enough to allow him rest, his mind swimming in that day's memories. In how loved he felt. In how wonderful the feeling was, in how he never wanted to feel lonely and rejected again. Not now when he knew how the other side felt. He was never going to return to being the discarded, thrown away, helpless little child. He wasn’t alone anymore.
But he had to grow up. He had to become stronger. He had to be the one who would accept and love the next unloved children. He was going to become the saviour he wished for so strongly, so desperately as a child. Mika was going to grow up and make the world right, at least for those innocent kiddos who deserved it the most. Because he could show them best that there’s more to life than the rejection and isolation that would come to be the only thing they’d know for a long, long while.
Because even though he, too, was once thrown away without a care, he found his way to a warm home, to loving friends, to a family of his own choice. If he could make it, he could show them, anyone can. Everyone can.

Alex sat and waited at the map room bobbing her right leg quickly, nervously. Sam looked up at her from his reading seeing her hands splayed flat on the table. He quirked an eyebrow and leaned towards her, “You okay?”
She looked at giving him a posed smile and nodded. “Just waiting,” she explained.
“What did you do?” Sam asked.
“Remember last week when I got you your early anniversary gift— those first edition lore books that you wanted?”
Sam smiled and looked her, his eyes darkening at the thought —such a dreamy smile for Alex to see; she almost felt lightheaded. She shook her head, “I did something similar for Dean but not books.”
Sam grinned and chuckled, wondering what she did and kind of excited to see Dean’s reaction. “What did you get him?”
“Remember how much he loves Dodge city and cowboys?” She asked.
He widened his eyes and facepalmed, “Oh my God, Alex, what did you get him? He is gonna be cowboy this, cowboy that for the next month. Wearing his hat no less.”
She grinned and spoke, her voice a bit husky, “I know.”
Sam looked a bit shocked and thought a moment, “You like him in his hat and boots, huh?”
She grinned a bit embarrassed, “I like him in his hat and boots, and then when we does that twange, mmm.” She quickly added, “I know he is gonna go cowboy crazy for a bit but totally worth it when he wakes up and you see how, hopefully, excited he gets.”
“What did you get him?”
She tried to hide her smile licking her lips, “Working replicas of Wyatt Earp’s and Doc Holliday’s guns, a print of a painting of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday, the movie poster of Tombstone signed by some of the cast members, and replica cowboy hats of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday.”
Sam’s eyes widened with each item she spoke of. He put his head down in his hands on the table and grumbled, “We're doomed.”
“He’ll be happy,” she tried to justify. Her mouth drowned when she added, “I also found a movie theater close to here where you can buy time there to watch a movie, so I did Tombstone for him. “ She looked down at her hands and her face turned red because she just realized he had going to make everyone come see it with him, including the Sioux Falls gang. She smiled to herself.
“How often does he smile and laugh, truly?” She asked Sam.
He sighed and sat up looking at her, “True. Fine.”
She clapped, “Yay.”
Sam glared at her, “I’m going to get you back.”
She looked to her lap then at him, “Prank or bedroom?”
“I haven’t decided, maybe both,” he said matter-of-factly.
“Fuck,” she whispered to herself as she saw the wicked smirk on his face.
After twenty minutes in tense silence, you could hear Dean yell excitedly from his room. Alex grinned and stood up walking to the kitchen waiting for him.
“Alex,” Dean yelled. “Ale—“ he stopped when he saw her, he was wearing one of the new cowboy hates which Alex thought made him look even sexier. He wrapped his arms around her, trapping her, and lifted her up then passionately kissed her. She melted into his lips and hummed.
When he set her down, she felt a little dizzy and grinned.
Dean was flabbergasted, “Oh, Baby, I don’t deserve you. How did you—? Why?”
“They’re early anniversary gifts for you while it is next week, I couldn’t wait. I knew you’d love them. The—the guns are working replicas.”
Dean’s jaw dropped, “They’re working? I can use them in a hunt?”
“I wouldn’t have it any other way, Baby,” Alex grinned at him.
“I’m gonna go shoot them,” Dean grinned like a little kid getting what he wanted on Christmas from Santa.
“The bullets are in that blue ammo box,” she called as he went back to his room.
Alex walked back over to Sam but stopped upon Dean rushing back out with a piece of paper in hand. “You rented a theater to watch Tombstone?” He asked incredulously.
“You said you always wanted to see it in theater,” she explained meekly. She could see Dean’s mind working and planning.
“How many seats are there?” He asked
“150,” she confirmed.
He turned around and got his cell out, “I’m inviting everyone!”
She continued walking back to Sam, put her hands on the table, tilted her head to one side and sighed. “We’re doomed.”

Kodak Black Takes Aim at Jay-Z & Megan Thee Stallion Over Tory Lanez Shooting Conviction [Video]

Kodak Black has spoken out against Tory Lanez’s guilty verdict in his felony assault case involving Megan Thee Stallion, taking aim at JAY-Z and the Houston Hottie in the process.
via: Rap-Up
The “Super Gremlin” rapper went live on Instagram on Christmas Eve and shared his support for Tory, who was convicted on all three charges for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.“This shit ain’t right, homie. For real, bro,” said Kodak, who collaborated with Tory on “F**k With You.” “And Tory Lanez a good ni**a, bro.”
“This shit fu**ing with my Christmas Eve ’cause everybody shit ain’t for me to speak on,” he continued. “But it’s like ni**as ain’t finna talk about that. Ni**as finna act like this shit ain’t even happen. I don’t know. I wasn’t in the courtroom. But at the same time, if it is some fu**ed up shit going on, ni**as ain’t gonna wanna say nothing because of this whole politics bullshit.”

He then alluded to the conspiracy theories that JAY-Z, whose company Roc Nation manages Megan, somehow influenced the verdict. “And then all of this JAY-Z shit, homie. But bro, I don’t like that shit nan bit.”“Now, I’m a God-fearing ni**a,” Kodak added. “If my brudda actually did that shit, homie, God gon’ see it through to where he get the justifiable punishment he feel like he deserve for that.”Kodak went on to claim that he is against men who abuse women before questioning Megan’s credibility and the evidence presented in court.“They done caught this female in a few lies and shit,” he said. “And then, how the f**k you find a ni**a guilty for shooting a bitch, when ain’t no evidence behind it? Y’all talking ’bout, bitch had gun residue on fam and another person. And ain’t nobody came through and say, ‘Oh yeah, he did that shit.’ That shit don’t sit well with me.”Following a trial that lasted nearly two weeks, a Los Angeles jury convicted Tory on all three charges against him: assault with a semiautomatic handgun, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. He faces up to 22 years in prison and deportation when he is sentenced on Jan. 27.While Kodak was sympathetic towards Tory, Adele shared her support for Megan after the guilty verdict was announced.
“Well today, tonight, I would like to wish Meg Thee Stallion a very, very merry, merry Christmas!” she said during her Las Vegas show on Friday. “Girl, get your peace. Do whatever you want now, baby! I love ya!”

i also took my sleeping pills and they're already working, but i will fight it for the gays
It's been two days 😅😅😅 jesus doesnt want me to watch episode 6 of moonlight chicken but i will rise and i will conquer. so here we go - episode 6
Ok so i was mad at wen for giving alan hope and now i'm mad at jim for giving wen hope
While they're cooking and eating i will use this opportunity to play homescapes since i can't watch anyway
Li ming's pissed
I swear, someone doesn't want me to witness episode six of moonlight chicken because my home wifi, which has been perfectly fine all day, is now refusing to work..
Horrible mother having a realization about having been a horrible mother
She's trying, which is great
Heart looking at the pictures 💔
He's so happy 😭
Jim bestie i am begging you to let wen kiss you please
It's not you, it's me 💀💀💀
This is the calmest argument i've ever seen in my life 😂
Honestly, he cheated on you and tried to justify it so don't be too upset that he died. Is that horrible of me to say?
now we're in a morgue
Why are his nostrils and ears plugged with cotton, i know this is supposed to be emotional and all but all i can see is the cotton
I googled it and apparently it's so that bugs don't crawl up and fester.
I will also assume that he died in water so he should have been in a worse state and already decomposing a little but he looks fine if you don't count the whole him being dead..
Alan🥰
Alan, just give him the loan, he's not asking you for a threesome
Alan's being helpful despite everything🥰
I truly am an Alan apologist
Gaipagaipagaipagaipa💖
Gaipa💔, honestly sweetie you don't need an emotionally constipated lover like jim, let wen deal with jim, they deserve each other, gaipa pls i beg you
Didn't we just celebrate christmas and it went disastrous? Why are we decorating for christmas again?
Ayo wen 😉
Oishi honey lemon
Beam had a whole child???
Am i just now noticing but did they put gray colour in jim's hair to make him look 73? Earth doesn't have gray hair at 29.
Oh so that isn't beam's child, i jumped to conclusions
I didn't see her name but she's honestly so great
What is jim planning, are we getting a kiss?
No we absolutely do not yell in public are you mad
Personally if i was li ming i would have saved heart as h👂🏻t
Kitty❣️
Flustered happy babies oh god this is sickening 🥺🥺
Oh it's the new years not christmas, obviously 💀💀💀
Heart put one string behind his ear and the other one he left in front and that's all i can see
I hate the little poppers so much they smell like metal and headaches
Not alan playing dead 😂
Okay so i learned this - whenever something good happens with someone, whenever someone's happy, inevitably someone else is going to look them in the eye and say - is this what you want? Because you're never going to get it.
I feel like after this episode i need another two day break.
Thoughts and opinions - fuck you jim for doing that to gaipa, gaipa💖, alan🥰, h👂🏻t and li ming <3.

Horror Movies I just Watched: Jan 2023
I’m back! Since I watch new horror movies all year long these days anyway, might as well continue this on a monthly basis. So I started off 2023 with these:
Noroi: the Curse  More of a mockumentary mixed with a found footage film. I feel the rules here are less defined then with the Ring or the Grudge, though maybe I just having trouble keeping up. While that can hurt the wide appeal, I think it helps the quality. It’s scarier if you don’t fully know how to avoid or escape Kagutaba. All this film does is give you point of views.
Alligator(1980) Animal attack movies feel weird to me for this. Yes, they’re structurally monster movies, that are, on paper, a lot more scary when the monster is actually real (Sure helped with Jaws’ effectiveness), but it’s that strange extra dose of realism that fails to engage me most of the time. I’m going in knowing this isn’t invincible agent of evil precisely. It’s no more immoral then the humans it eats or attacks because all it’s got is instincts.
For this film, it was never really scary. The big gator puppet was goofy whenever it was on screen. But I did enjoy whenever it was on screen, especially when it literally crashed that wedding. Kinda wished the female lead, who was his last owner all grown up, would realize it and had a moment with Ramon the gator. I don’t know WHAT that moment would be (An apology, a mercy kill, etc.), but otherwise, I felt that prologue is pointless. Big guy deserved at least to get out of Chicago.
Friday the 13th VI: Jason Lives The fourth film in this franchise I’ve seen and so far my favorite. Yeah, sadly not a hot take. This one or 4 is considered the best. But this gave more of what I want. Now a confirmed classic zombie, looks like Jason has enough energy to terrorize more then his camp, even if he always goes back there, leading to a wide variety of dead meat.
While Tommy this time is a unique protagonist for this franchise in that he already knows Jason is around (because it’s sorta his fault), I’m a bit annoyed he’s naïve enough to think the police would help. They gave him more difficulty then Jason. I guess that makes sense, since it’d be hard to justify him leaving anyone alive long enough for the climax. Points for getting a few car chases into the story though.
But otherwise, I enjoyed the Frankenstein inspired opening, the set up to the kills, the actual kills. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I’ll think I go with the one that got him his new machete. The movie being funny without undercutting Jason’s threat level should be enough to make it a Slasher gold standard.
I actually saw it because a local theater was screening it 17 days ago. (Guess why?) and the audience was having a great time with it. I don’t blame them. Funny how a 37 year old dumb slasher movie made a more compelling argument to me the importance of movie theaters then either Avatar movie. Zing!
Black Sabbath Anthology film courtesy of Mario Bava and Boris Karloff! Nice!
The first segment: Well now I found what helped inspired Black Christmas, and in turn, Scream. It doesn’t handle the premise as terrifyingly as what came after it, but it’s nice and short.
The Second segment: Karloff playing a vampire (well, close enough to one) where he turns and breaks down his family one by one, leading to a downer ending? Works for me. Though it’s a pity the version I found dubs him over with an Italian voice actor.
The Third segment: The corpse in this story is probably the first image that comes up when you do a google search for this movie. Moral of the story; whatever your financial woes or how good that ring looks, don’t steal from anything that looks like that!
Titane What’s really strange about this movie isn’t that our main character is a serial killer or that there’s a sentient car that knocks them up or that they spend most of the movie impersonating a man. What’s strange is that really except for the first act and the last ten minutes, this doesn’t feel like a horror movie at all.
Most of the deaths happen early on (including one scene played for black comedy purposes) and the car doesn’t do anything beyond it’s sex scene. It doesn’t pull a Christine and come to protect it’s unborn baby. Sure, there’s body horror for the half human half machine fetus that literally tears Alexia’s body apart. But it’s surprisingly utilizes more metal then gore. Though, knowing what I could take, that’s probably a blessing.
The rest plays almost like a wholesome LGBTIA+ drama about almost literal found family with firefighters. I guess it’s strangely nice it went this way when other movies go the more nihilistic route. Though now I want to watch more movies with firefighters all of a sudden.

Favorite Sherlock Holmes fics from 2020
Usually I put a bunch of explanations and disclaimers on these lists but you know what, it was a weird year and I’m not going to try to justify or apologize for what I read or didn’t read so here are my favorites that were completed last year, in descending order of length:
and your very flesh shall be a great poem by CaitlinFairchild (151K, E, Johnlock) After a tragic confrontation with terrible consequences, Sherlock and John follow Mary as she flees to America.
Drawn to Stars by Silvergirl (107K, E, Johnlock, Sherlock/OMC) After the Culverton Smith case Sherlock is clean, working, and looking for a romantic partner—since John has told him that’s what he needs. Shame John didn’t mention he was interested in that role himself, before Sherlock went off to Rome with a gorgeous Italian copper to try to fall in love and become a complete human being. (This one is very slightly cheating because it was finished on 30 Dec 2019, but it didn't make it onto my 2019 list because I didn't read it until after I'd made the list. And it deserves to be on a Best Of list, so here it is.)
Thermocline by J_Baillier (83K, M, Johnlock) John "Five Oceans" Watson — technical dive instructor, dive accident analyst and weapon of mass seduction — meets recluse professor of maritime archaeology Holmes. As they head out to a remote archipelago off the coast of Guatemala to study and film its shipwrecks for a documentary, will sparks fly or fizzle out?
Do No Harm by Calais_Reno (79K, T, Johnlock) In 1923, Dr John Watson is on trial for the murder of his lover, Mary Morstan, a writer of popular mysteries. If convicted, he will hang. Sherlock Holmes sets out to prove his innocence, but finds himself more and more infatuated with the handsome doctor, and deeper and deeper inside the bohemian world of London's painters, playwrights, and poets. Will he uncover the evidence needed to acquit him in time?
To Be Human by ohlooktheresabee (78K, NR, Johnlock) There is a serial killer on the loose with a penchant for collecting the brains of his victims. Sherlock, John and Scotland Yard are on the case, but something about the chosen victims has Sherlock on edge. While they piece together the clues that will lead to the killer, John begins to realize that the way his best friend thinks may sometimes be more a hindrance than a help….
immediate and inglorious by simplyclockwork (72K, E, Johnlock) Bodies are showing up in back alleys, with no sign of a struggle, no trace of drugs. If not for the strangulation bruises on their necks and the scythe carved into their left shoulders, they could have died peacefully, in their sleep. With New Scotland Yard dumbfounded by the Grim Reaper Killer case, Sherlock is called in to consult. The more he investigates, the deeper Sherlock finds himself drawn into the work of London's newest serial killer. As his views of good and bad begin to blur, he risks losing himself to a darkness he never imagined. And, even more pressing: where does John Watson, grieving ex-boyfriend of the Grim Reaper's latest victim, fit into all of this?
Curtain Rising by tiger_in_the_flightdeck (61K, E, Johnlock) A disgraced television star is the target of a series of death threats just after a theatre production’s adaptation of The Sound of Music is announced with her as the lead. The suspect list is a mile long and growing, Rosie Watson is in the spotlight, and Sherlock might be getting too fond of his time on stage to focus on the case. With opening night approaching, can he and John figure out who wants their client dead before her final curtain rises?
The Fire Finds a Home by fearfully_beautifully_made (61K, E, Johnlock) After Sherlock and John decide to give having a relationship a go, this is how their relationship starts to develop. There a little bit of plot, if you squint, but it was mostly an excuse to write John and Sherlock having sex in a lot of different ways and learning to love each other.
Borrowed Ghosts by DiscordantWords (57K, M, Johnlock) In the aftermath of the Culverton Smith case, John spent one painfully stilted afternoon hanging out with Sherlock. He counted the minutes, finished his tea, and left for home without ever clearing the air between them. And once he'd left, he found it very hard to go back.
You Might Just as Well Be Blind by ArwaMachine (56K, E, Johnlock) When a serial killer starts targeting couples, Sherlock and John must do what they have to do in order to get to the bottom of things. Unfortunately, John already has a girlfriend. Surely pretending to be in a relationship with Sherlock won't pose any problems with his relationship, will it?
The Broken Tether by J_Baillier (54K, M, Johnlock) Maybe he thinks that you only enjoy his company because of the Work, because of the way his dazzling intellect shines when he's in his element, but the truth is this: it is when he is at his most human, most bare, that you feel closest to him.
how the light gets in by subtext-is-my-division (Quill_A)  (54K, E, Johnlock) Red wine always makes him tipsier than usual and he finds himself saying, the words slurring a bit. “You know, I’ve got to ask. Do you always shoot cabbies for people you barely you know?” John meets his gaze over the rim of his glass, and there’s something there that Sherlock can’t pin down. “Not for everyone,” he says, meaningfully, pointedly, his smile all teeth.
Erosion by saintscully (53K, E, Johnlock) Sherlock’s father falls ill, leaving the surviving family members broken and rudderless. James Sholto shows up in London unexpectedly, his intentions unclear. John has to navigate the consequences of crime, illness and death and their impact on his frayed relationship with Sherlock.
Hold You Like a Weapon by MissDavis (52K, E, Johnlock) Eurus shows up at 221B Baker Street in labour. Things go downhill from there.
Chances Are by Berty (51K, M, Johnlock) Sherlock is spending some time in his mind palace - so far, so normal. But why is John there, why do things keep changing and why are there only two exits from the sitting room at 221B, neither of which seem to go anywhere useful? It's a case like no other for Sherlock Holmes and John Watson.
Sine Nomine by SilentAuror (45K, E, Johnlock) As Mycroft reviews the footage from Culverton Smith's morgue, he revisits his original question: whether John Watson would be the making of his brother, or make him worse than ever. He's come to a conclusion, but decides to give John one last chance. So he gives him a choice.
Cockaigne by HollyShadow88 (38K, E, Johnlock) When John’s contacted by an old uni friend about problems in his new art exhibition, he doesn’t think it will be worth Sherlock’s time. After a glance of the crime scene, however, they’re both pulled into the project in ways John didn’t expect. Will a week of erotic performance art finally be enough to bring them together in the way they both secretly hope? (Spoiler: it’s a tropey fic, of course it will)
Written in Ashes by 88thParallel (37K, M, Johnlock) Sherlock becomes the prime suspect in a homicide case, and recently unearthed memories of his childhood are complicating matters. It's up to John to track down answers — can he help Sherlock before it's too late?
A Desperate Indulgence by LollipopCop (34K, M, Johnlock) John thinks it's 2012 after waking up with amnesia, having no memory of Mary. Sherlock, exhausted from years of tension and hiding his love, pretends they got married instead.
Inhale With Ease by Vulpesmellifera (25K, E, Johnlock) In the years after Vivian Norbury's capture, life seems to work out just as John planned. He's got that respectable job at the surgery and goes home to his wife and child. He joins Sherlock on cases a couple times per week. It's a rhythm he can live with - just enough adrenaline highs to balance out the drudgery of a normal bloke's life. Until a pandemic, and Victor Trevor, arrive in London.
The House on Rue des Boulangers by Berty (24K, M, Johnlock) After being invalided out of the army and without any other prospects, John Watson has relocated to a small town in northern France. Now he has to decide what to do for the rest of his life. One morning there's a mad stranger in his garden chasing a swarm of bees, and it seems John's decision is made.
High Mountain Tea Leaves by disfictional (23K, E, Johnlock) A mountaintop robbery on a Japanese-occupation-era train where the only item stolen was a small case of mysterious tea leaves in a backpack? An ideal Christmas gift, two days late. Sherlock convinces John to travel for tea.
Detours by saintscully (22K, M, Johnlock, Sherlock/OMC) During the better part of the first year following Mary's death and the events at Sherrinford, Sherlock and John are slowly rebuilding their lives and their friendship. All seems (relatively) well and John takes comfort in once again being a father, a doctor and a friend. An unexplained shift in Sherlock's behaviour catches John by surprise, and he begins to worry about his place in his friend's life. John has to examine everything he thought he knew about Sherlock, himself and their relationship in order to win his rightful place yet again.
hands full of matter by simplyclockwork (21K, E, Johnlock) When Sherlock is captured in Serbia, Mycroft cannot afford to involve the British government in his rescue. Instead, he sends John. After two years spent thinking Sherlock was dead, John finds himself navigating not only Sherlock’s rescue but their fractured friendship as well.
The Victim Experience by J_Baillier (16K, T, Gen) A case takes Sherlock and John deep into the seedy underbelly of the haunted attractions industry. With audiences craving more and more intense experiences, is a real murder the next logical step?
On the Fence by BeautifulFiction (13K, T, Johnlock) The murder of the King's College fencing champion leads to revelations about Sherlock's past. Will it be the point that tips them from friends to lovers, or will they remain on the fence?
Plus bonus ACD era:
"Baker Street: The Sleep of Reason": A Memoir by John H. Watson, M.D. by Gaedhal (98K, M, Johnlock, Johniarty) This is a Victorian Era story in the "Sherlock Holmes" (2009) Ritchie-verse. The main characters are Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson and is from the doctor's memoirs. It was written before "A Game of Shadows" so there are differences in this story and film canon, mainly in the person and backstory of one particular character.
The Taste of Truth by sanguinity (25K, T, Johnlock) Two and a half years after Reichenbach, John Watson discovers the magical tree that caused Holmes to fake his death.
The Adventure of the Vatican Cameos by Garonne (18K, E, Johnlock) How should one behave when waking for the first time in the bed of one's dearest friend? Holmes and Watson solve a case in Catholic London while navigating the turbid waters of their new relationship.
Hot Water by wordybirdy (13K, E, Johnlock, Watson/Gregson) Dr. John Watson's libidinous affair with a respected Scotland Yard inspector abruptly judders to a halt when the former meets a certain Mr. Sherlock Holmes, Consulting Detective, for the very first time. The attraction between the two is strongly mutual, but misunderstandings only multiply and tensions abound, as all three men attempt to deal with the new situation.

waiting patiently for ur 365 days review 🙏
Soooooo I haven't been able to get to some of my asks due to busy times + friend stuff but!
I really, really enjoyed it. Does it top the first movie? No, but how the fuck could it possibly. The first movie was a fever dream brought to life, and this is... a follow up to a fever dream. I also personally feel like, due to the nature of the mafia erotic romance subgenre, there's really only so many places that they could have taken this movie, and while some things bugged me, I still was like... I don't know that I could have expected much different.
Obviously, the first chunk of the movie where it's just like. Fun! Friends are having fun! "Santa seems to have forgotten me baby"! Domenico and Olga fucking while he's covered in food on Laura and Massimo's dining room table while they're house sitting (mind you, Domenico is EMPLOYED by Massimo) and then acting like... That is something they were not only justified in doing, but CORRECT in doing! Massimo giving Laura a clothing company for Christmas and her being like "okay, you can put a toy in my asshole, how about that". Erotic golf! We love this!
The fact that they even DID Christmas in this franchise makes me so.... so, fucking happy.
I'm honestly not sure how I feel about Laura not telling Massimo about the baby. There is the logical aspect of like... Glossing over the fact that Massimo would most definitely threaten the doctor until he told him every minute detail regarding her condition. I feel like he honestly could have found out about the miscarriage by accident, because if she was truly in bad condition, it probably would have been mentioned to... somebody? Not sure how Italian healthcare works in that regard, so idk. Yes, it's private and really nobody needs to know, but... I feel like it would've come out in the mix. I can see why she didn't tell him, because he's certifiably insane and that's actually probably a good call. But I think that to a degree, the drama would have been enhanced by him knowing.
On the other hand, I can also see where being like "yes, let's discuss the miscarriage at length" would've taken away from sexy honeymoon montage, and honestly? We deserved that. Laura deserved that.
Laura acting like she had anything other than the miscarriage to be unhappy about when she was living a life of luxury, wherein her best friend even moved to Italy to get her own mafioso fuck machine, was... annoying. But I expected it, tbh. I've seen soaps. When a woman marries a dangerous man, she always ends up complaining about him being protective because other dangerous men are going to come at him through her. The movie takes a *lot* from daytime--like, I would argue that the first movie feels more like a mafia dark romance, whereas this one felt a little bit more like a traditional soap opera? And I didn't mind that at all, this is just one of those irritating beats where I'm like... I wish you could have conflict other than this, but this is the conflict I expected, so I'm not *shocked*.
I haven't read the books, but book readers made it seem like Nacho was a lot better than he was? Which, like, I don't know--I understand that in the books she ends up with Nacho. But to me, I literally cannot understand how you make that happen in this movie. I already thought that would be a tall order for the movieverse because Michele and Massimo made such a big impression in that first movie, and the people who are into this kind of shit are going to glom on to the Original Daddy no matter how hot Nacho is (more on that in a minute). However, I didn't expect that Nacho would not only... not actually fuck her in this movie, but WALK AWAY FROM HER WHILE SHE IS BLEEDING OUT LMAO. That in itself seems like he really.... is not a contender. And Massimo was arguably the most wounded party in this entire movie, so.... He comes off as pretty sympathetic, tbh.
Nacho was just boring for me. Like. It doesn't matter if Simone is really hot, which of course he is. There just... The thing about Massimo is that he's not just hot. He's played, so badly, with all the passion and verve of a man giving it his all, but a guy who went "twin twist? Sure. I'll just suck my teeth a lot and you can make my hair sexily mussed". It felt like Nacho was NORMAL, and I don't want NORMAL, I want a complete deranged lunatic who again says "SANTA MUST HAVE FORGOTTEN ME THIS YEAR BABY" completely straight. Completely straight. I had just taken a sip of sangria when he said that, and I just had to look at my friend beside me and not choke in the moment. I don't know if I will ever be as happy again as I was when that occurred.
So Nacho just... Being a guy? Who doesn't even swim in the nude, but in various wetsuits? Who shows up dressed like a gardener on a porn set? (Actually, his costume in his introductory scene was delightful, but it does not appeal as much to me, a materialistic woman whose fantasy is to be swept away by a rich man, as much as Massimo's various suits did. I'm not into the gardener angle.). Obviously, Nacho was not a gardener, but he honestly seemed like kind of a dud the whole way through. Just boring. Just "I'm the good guy". Stop it, Jacob Black, I've done this before.
Also--we must say. The lingering kiss on his sister's pregnant belly? She is either not his sister and is pretending to be someone she isn't (possibly, seeing as he wasn't actually a gardener) or she is his sister, and they are fucking. Either way, that's his baby. Nobody kisses their sister's, nay, their friend's, pregnant belly like that. Literally nobody. Shut the fuck up.
Love Olga and Domenico, am all for their love. The moment he sauntered onto the screen with a rose between his teeth I was like "yes, this can stay, we love this angle". I assume 3 will feature their wedding?
Laura's trashy mom can fuck right off. You're gonna act like this man jetsetting you around the world and giving you everything you want wasn't your favorite person until 30 seconds ago?
As a soap viewer, I guessed the twin angle as soon as Massimo~ was caught fucking Anna. Like. Duh. I think they could have leaned into the twin angle more, and I hope Adriano lives because he was delightful. He got a shoulder shot, so he should be fine. I do think it's objectively hysterical that Massimo was like "I have a brother and I'm embarrassed by him" and not "I have a murderous identical twin who should be kept in an asylum". Fucking amazing.
So yeah. Had its flaws. Is not as insanely amazing as the first movie. Nacho is a dud. But I had a great time, and I will be rewatching it probably 50 times before the next movie comes out.
