18. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?
I think it depends on the length of the fic! For longer works, I name them before I start writing, as was the case for both One More Troubled Soul and The Tolling Bells! The shorter fics I usually name midway through/at the end. I came up with the title for Ink and Ichor right before I posted the first chapter. I get a lot of titles from music, but some of them are just things that I think Sound Nice.
24. Worst writing advice anyone ever gave you?
‘Have someone read your work back to you.’
I’m sure that would be super handy and would make finding issues with the work much simpler HOWEVER!!!! If anyone ever read my work back to me OUT LOUD I’d simply leave the fucking country. I don’t think I could stand it. I read aloud to myself all the time, but having someone else do it? The fucking horror. No way.
29. What’s your revision or editing process like?
It’s a fucking mess tbh. I write out a first draft, look it over once for obvious errors/missed words, then read it aloud to myself and make edits on the spot. If larger changes need to be made, I rewrite the whole segment until I’m happy with it and then read the new parts aloud until it’s complete! I also look it over once more when it’s in the Ao3 text box, just in case there is something I missed. (There is ALWAYS something I missed.)

See how in 2023 almost all of the reblogs come from the OP, from their few hours/days in the tag search. Meanwhile in 2014 the % of reblogs from OP is insignificant, because most of the reblogs come from the reblogs within the fandom, within the micro-communities formed there. You didn't need to rely on tags, or search, or being featured. Because the community took care of you, made sure to pass the work between themselves and onto their blog and exposed their followers to it. It kept works alive for years.
It's not JUST the reblog/like ratio that causing this issue, it's the type of interaction people have. They're content with scrolling and liking the search engine, instead of actually having a reblogging relationship with other blogs in their community.
Anyways, if you want to see more content you like, the only true way to make it happen is to reblog it. Likes do not forward content in no way but making OP feel nice. Reblogs on the other hand make content eternal. They make it relevant, they make it exist outside of a fickle tumblr search that hardly works on the best of days.
If you want more of something, reblog it.
