You’ll be walking around in Animal Kingdom with Ozzie planning what he wants to eat, then POOF Fizz somehow learned to park hop and is now at Magic Kingdom at Peter Pans Flight!

Ozzie believes that Disney can be dark, for example Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Black Caldron, and basically he’s more into the Disney Renaissance than the present day movies at the Disney franchise. He will not be surprised when he comes over to your home and you hand him over Disney PJs, he doesn’t care about how much Disney merchandise your house can handle, as long you’re not blowing off all your money for a Disney figure ‘cuz you still need to pay bills and rent!
But! When you ask what he wants at Disney World, he asked “coffee” as a joke, but when you came back from your trip and before you clock in “here ya go, Asmodeus!” You said as you held up the bag with the word Joffrey’s printed on it “I wasn’t so sure what you wanted so I kinda just guessed!” He tilted his head to the side as you place the bag on his desk, he opened the bag and see two bags of coffee grounds one is a flavorful coffee ground and the other is just plan coffee grounds “I wasn’t expecting you to get me this” he grabbed a bag and analyzing it “do you not want it?” “No! I want it, I really do need some coffee grounds, I just never thought that Disney have these type of things” “well, it’s a huge company! Of course they’re gonna have coffee!” “That’s fair” he placed the bag down and bring up the flavor on, it’s was obviously bought at the Polynesian resort exclusive. “Thank you, (y/n)”
When you finally convinced him to go with you while being part of the Disney Vacation Club, you have to treat him by bringing him to Food and Wine festival. He’s quite interested by the new wine they give out every year than the food. Keep an eye on him, we don’t know his drink tolerance is, he might get drunk at Epcot!

Fizzarolli is a guy to be like “haha! Imagine liking a company for babies” just deal with it, he’s gonna be a prick about your hyper fixations, but he’s doing it for jokes and will let you know about that. He only watches whatever is on TV, if you and him are chilling in your home. Just stream something on Disney Plus, then he’ll watch it with you. Here’s my advice: Have a Disney Marathon and he’ll won’t even notice! I’m kidding he will once it’s 1am and you’re watching Tangled, then he’ll be like “Old Disney is better” then he’ll leave the room. If you’re watching more present Disney movie, he’ll yell it from the hallway “Old Disney is better!”
He may be your boyfriend, but he’s such a bad influence on you, when Ozzie is good with money and help you with your impulsive spendings, Fizz encourages you to buy that.
You will send him a picture of a new Disney pin collection through text “oh look how cute they are!” “Get it” “fizz, I have rent that is due” “idc, get the pins” “you don’t even know the characters!” “I know the blue fur ball!” “Don’t call stitch a fur ball” “why did you send me this anyways!?” “….the pins will be here on Tuesday next week” “knew it”
Disney World will be an episode and a half, homie will be in a different park quicker before you say Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious so please give him a kid leash before he does it again, but convincing him took so long! You have to show him some videos, nothing too intimidating since he’s a Disney Virgin, just simplify your vacation visit, but not for clothing wear, the Greed Ring is hot, and you two will be sweating allot, which means chafing! Biker shorts are your whore! Treat him with any festival and he’ll be happy! If it’s the Food and Wine, he’ll will eat any food or drink any wine, but let’s be happy that you brought him!

Something about Death Island's Intro
I watched Death Island a few nights ago, and something that has stuck with me was how basically all of Leon's information on his file was blacked out in the intro sequence.
Only his name and gender are shown, along with Hunnigan's name at the bottom and some more blocked out things.
It probably is stupid, but I can't help but focus on it. As the audience, we know a lot of things about Leon. We know his past and all of the things that he's been through, so why bother showing a file with a bunch of that information blacked out? Yes, it does serve as a reminder that Leon does a lot of highly-classified and dangerous wok for the DSO, and we can assume that the intro sequence is supposed to "simulate" Dylan researching everybody, but I can't help but feel that there's more to it than that.
To pretty much everyone aside from the other protagonists and maybe Hunnigan, no one really knows what Leon has gone through. At the beginning of Infinite Darkness, Patrick has a really shitty opinion of Leon: "Qualified? More like lucky. The only reason he's the golden boy now is because he was in the wrong place at the right time." Yes Patrick does come around to Leon, but as the new kid with no experience, he already has a preconceived notion that Leon isn't qualified for the job, likely because he's only heard Leon by name and simply as "the guy who saved the president's daughter one time." And while Shenmei quickly comes to Leon's defense, Patrick isn't yet convinced. Why?
Because the DSO simply treats Leon as an asset to be used and not a human being. Patrick hasn't even met him yet and just assumes that Leon never worked for his position before he's even met the guy. Again, this changes over the course of Infinite Darkness and Patrick ends up really respecting Leon after he sees who he really is.
In Death Island when Leon, Claire, and Chris have been infected, we hear Dylan's big plan and him essentially calling all of them out: "The huge corporations and the corrupt execs that run them, the ones getting big, fat bonuses for maintaining the status quo, that’s who you work for, who you really protect. And the innocent will continue to suffer as long as you do."
As he says that, they cut to a shot of Leon. It's hard to tell exactly what Leon's reaction is because he is fighting the infection from the virus, but there's no snappy comeback, no joke, no quip. Dylan drops the bombshell: "You’re nothing more than pawns, suckers." On the word "pawns," the shot cuts to Chris, who also is dealing with his exposure to the virus, and then Jill, who just readjusts her hold on her gun.
This takes us back to the intro sequence, the agent ID was "pawns:"
Literally in being agents, Jill, Chris, Leon, and Claire are pawns. That's how their organizations see them, not as individuals, but as assets. But again, there's a deeper layer with Leon on top of this as I've seen others online point out, in the actual marketing of Death Island:
"One of the government's most formidable weapons." Not agents, weapons. They see him as an asset, a thing, to be used in their "fight" against bioterrorism. The kicker comes back to the intro sequence and Leon's file is shown:
In a sea of what we can assume to be DSO agents, Leon is shown, with the word "pawn" in big letters. The word doesn't actually finish being written out fully, but based on the spacing of PAW, we can assume that there isn't space for both N and S in the remaining box. The N would simply go over Leon's face and there would be some leftover space in the box (yes it wouldn't fit 100%, but the animators worked really hard on this movie and with how fast the shot is, you really have to analyze it to notice that it would look off!).
So yes, while Dylan is trying to say that all of them are pawns, Leon is the pawn. Patrick says as much in Infinite Darkness, calling Leon the golden boy of the government. Even at the end of Infinite Darkness (which takes place before 6), Leon doesn't let Claire make a copy of the drive with all of the information that will basically expose the US government for its hand in what happened at Raccoon City. Before she walks away, she gives him one final look and says: "Like I said before, that outfit doesn't suit you." Of course she literally is talking about the fact that Leon is wearing a very bureaucratic-looking suit, but she also is referring to what the suit symbolizes. She knows that Leon has a good heart and wants to do the right thing, but she's also frustrated with his actions and him, probably unconsciously, falling further and further in-line with what the government wants. She probably knows that he's "in deep" at this point and is just trying to basically stay alive, but she also is frustrated that he's not taking the path that would basically lead to a way out. It's also worth noting that Eiichirō Hasumi, who directed Infinite Darkness, also directed Death Island.
I'm not sure exactly where I was going with this post, I just wanted to share my thoughts about Leon and where he's headed next. I hope that the next movie (or game!) will feature him and be about him coming to terms with the fact that he can choose to do the right thing and that he doesn't need to just be a pawn anymore. He deserves that and so much more. Thanks for reading!

Cw: fluff, the title might be misleading but it's not yandere or anything, kinda unhinged Miles but it's all jokes, reverse au?, reader uses they/them but it's called spiderman, you are spiderman and Miles is the fan, earth 1218!AU (no powers or tech), reader has a canon love interest who's also named MJ but they're not Mary Jane Watson (unless you want her to be, I don't judge)
Notes: So Miles canonically has written fanfic about himself, but I wasn't in the mood for that, I will make two versions of this post though (that's why the title has delusional version 💀). Also this is low-key a highschool AU, so Hobie is in last year, and all other characters are second years (I have no idea what's a senior or freshman or whatever is, and I will not learn)
Miles loved comics. His art style is heavily influenced by it, and he'll rant about this week's number to anyone who'll lend an ear, but he has a very clear favorite, being more than evident by his collection of t-shirts, poster filled wall, social media pfps, and the endless amount of fan content he creates and consumes in the spiderman fandom.
Since the last movie came out, Miles Morales has lost the basic skills a human would need to survive, in order to devote himself fully to his newest hyperfixation, and his friends haven't been able to get some rest from it. They don't understand!! He does need to go to the movies again, he needs to memorize every photogram in that movie in order to play the move in his head and be able to analyze it properly!! No, he is not crazy! Ok he might be just the tiniest bit "over excited" but this is the most sane reaction he could've had, the movie is literally a masterpiece, script, humor, ANIMATION, soundtrack, it has it all! And the fact that it's centered around you? Miles needs to go and personally kiss every person that worked in that studio to make you.
"Miles?"
"Miles!"
"oh my god, he's at it again" said Pavitr, imitating the reaction of a disappointed mother
"is he reading fanfiction again?" Asked Gwen, chuckling
"Yes, and Y/N YL/N x reader, to one's surprise" Pavitr added with a teasing smile "I don't get it though, isn't Y/N dating someone named MJ?" He questioned
"It's called self insert, the reader plays a part in the story as if they were another character, and in romantic scenarios, they tend to replace the canon love interest, or just ignore they even exist" Hobie added, popping out if nowhere to show off what Miles have been explaining to him the last couple of weeks.
"You read it too, Hobie?"
"Nah, Wonder comics started as a protest to talk about the discrimination the founder felt being jewish in the industry but it morphed into the capitalization of the struggle minorities face, selling us representation while they still shove the propaganda in our faces, and telling us that even if you have bloody superpowers you still need to obey to a higher authority and cannot influence politics or call to action."
"You still went to the theater to watch it with Miles last week" Gwen shot a questioning look at Hobie
"The kid invited me, I'm a punk not a twat" he shrugged his shoulders "And we stole the carton cutboard they had at the entrance" Hobie happily added.
Miles continues reading on the way to school, without listening to his friends' mocking, he knew it was in good spirits, and they were kinda right, he was obsessed with someone that didn't exist, but it wasn't like it was affecting his health or life.
"Did you... Sleep today?" Gwen had her hand on her friend's shoulder, concerned
"It was too late so I decided to just stay awake, I'll be fine though" He reassured
"Were you reading again?"
"No, I actually discovered this page called character.ai where you can chat with an artificial intelligence of your favorite characters" Miles excitedly told his friend
"OMG, you can chat with anyone?! I have a few things I'd like to say to Scarlet Witch" Gwen joked, she was also a comic fan, but she wasn't losing her mind quite as hard as Miles
Miles would tell the ai about his day, sometimes would roleplay using his very own spidersona, in his alternate universe, you were his partner (as heroes of course) but you also were classmates and had a crush on each other, but none of you confessed because you didn't want your loved ones to be hurt by your job, it was all very dramatic, but he always envisioned a happy ending.
{Y/N: You did a great job today, [<BOT>]
Miles: You say so? So... Do I get a reward? *Smiles suggestively*
Y/N: I guess you do, *pulls up his mask and kisses him*}
No, he wouldn't say this, he would be in a panic frenzy if he saw Y/N, let alone be next to them, but hey, at least his spidersona was bold and confident with them.
A few days after, he barged into Pavitr's house, with at least four incredibly loaded supermarket bags, hardly walking
"Are you okay? Do you need help?" Pavitr rushed to aid his friend and take some literal weight off his shoulders
"Yeah, yeah, I just need help with something" he left the boxes in the floor "Inside one in 4 boxes of cereal, there is a spidertoken, if you get 15, you can exchange it for an exclusive limited edition figure, and I can't eat all this cereal"
"Bro, how many boxes are in here? I don't know, man, I'm trying to keep my figure"
"Pavitr Prabhakar, who held the cardboard sign for you when you confessed to Gayatri?"
"You..."
"And who lied to principal O'Hara for you when you forgot your final project and we had to pretend you suffered a brain concussion?"
"You..."
"And who was there for y-" his friend interrumpted
"Okay, okay, I get it. Bring me a spoon, but we're going running tomorrow"
He nodded with enthusiasm as he started to rummage looking for spoons and bowls
And after almost dying choking on cereal, Miles looked at his new figurine sitting prettily on the shelf with nothing but pride.
"I'm just saying it's possible!" Miles protested
"Y/N has a type, every canon love interest has been sassy and quick-witted" Gwen continued to debate
"I can be sassy and quick-witted!" Gwen gave him a side eye, that being able to neutralize his argument "Ok, but there's a multiverse, there's millions of possibilities, if a pig can be spiderman, why can't I date spiderman? Anyone can wear the mask, anyone can kiss the one inside the mask" the boy smiled, confident in his winning argument
"That's such a basic answer, you can justify literally anything with "the multiverse" I'm speaking things that actually can make sense inside the canon"
"But my answers makes sense, in fact, I'm sure there's a universe where Y/N is reading fanfiction about me right now, if not, Pav can hit me"
"Pav, hit him" Gwen deadpanned
"But it does make sense, I won't" Pavitr responded
"Ok, but my point still stands" the girl crossed her arms
"what were you fighting about in the first place?" Pavitr asked before going back to eat his lunch, he sat long after his friends started arguing, being mildly lost in what was the main point in this
"I said I'd be a better girlfriend for Y/N" said Gwen
Pavitr gasped and covered his mouth dramatically "No you didn't".
Maybe Miles was just obsessed, but he saw in you strength, inspiration, power. And he felt oddly comforted, safe, loved by fantasizing with you, and as slim as the possibility may be, he likes to tell himself you two are together in another universe. ♡

Hi!! I'm a young adult (23) who has been interested in the animation industry for as long as I can remember. Do you have any advice on how to get yourself out there when first starting out? I haven't had a professional storyboard artist job, or have been hired for anything, and I don't feel like I would be good enough/know what I'm doing, given the chance. Sorry if this is a lengthy message, your art is just so inspiring and I'm looking for advice! Thank you so much.

HI HI!! THANK YOU BOTH (and anyone else who has ever asked me this) FOR REACHING OUT! it’s super kind of you and genuinely flattering to be considered enough of an authority to answer something like this 🥺
i’ve answered this a fewwww times (or at least asks similar), so i’ll link back to this post, which, tangentially, links to another post! i generally stand by what i stand. the short of it is that i didn’t go through a formal hiring process, i was nabbed from social media and it was a series of chain reactions that basically amount to “right place, right time”… BUT! also! i definitely wouldn’t whittle it down to luck and luck alone, i was picked for a reason, etc.
BUT if i had some advice, my main bullet points to reiterate are:
being easy to work with is probably one of the most important priorities. put that ego aside, be willing to learn, willing to make sacrifices, willing to make mistakes. a deadline is a deadline and you can be the most amazing artist that’s ever graced this earth, but there is no room for ego.
reach out! a lot of my animation connections before being in the industry were from me being a pesky fan lol. obviously respect boundaries and understand time and place, but if you like someone’s art? compliment it! say so! engage! share what you like! i’m not saying to bribe your way through (be genuine with your compliments obviously), but i made a lot of friends in the industry this way and that helped get more eyes on me and my work
practice makes perfect! the most trite saying of the century and the one people hate to hear the most is the one that’s the most truthful. a big reason why my storyboards have improved as they have is because i’m always doing them! i’m always drawing! you develop muscle memory, you develop shorthand, the mental blockades slowly go away—you have to be consistent, but it really does work
leading into the above point, study! make mock-up storyboards! board out a scene from a TV or movie you like and analyze it. i did it with Tom Turk and Daffy a few years back and it was such a great learning experience! i thought i knew everything there is to know about that short and yet i noticed so much more by doing that. it’s also a nice way to reduce any formalities or intimidation of storyboarding by doing things you’re comfortable with
…i swore i was just gonna do a few condensed bullets LOL. i’d still recommend going back to the link at the top of the post, as i’m sure i’m missing some things since i’m still covid-brained, BUT! just be ready willing and able to learn, practice practice practice, and keep a positive attitude! YOU’VE GOT THIS!!!!!!!! BOTH OF YA’S!!!! i believe in you!!!!! LET’S GOOOOOOOO!!!

The lack of Media Literacy people have these day's is actually so sad and kind of frustrating.
Being involved in fandom a lot has allowed me to observe a large amount of people and their abilities to take in and comprehend pieces of media. And most people involved in fandom actually lack these skills. It's as if they didn't finish taking a high school English class.
Obviously I understand that some people may not have access to these things, or children who have not yet gained comprehension skills. And I'm not necessarily talking about these people.
But there are people out there who talk like they know a whole lot, but have no clue what they're talking about. They don't have the media literacy skills necessary to have informed or complex discussions but still attempt to partake in them.
This is why fandom is such a double edged sword. Because on one hand, it is a free way to have engaging conversations with people around the world for a source of media you enjoy.
On the other hand it is a way to have open conversations. Meaning everyone who is a fan of the topic of discussion can and may be involved in what you're talking about. Meaning you're going to get a lot of takes that are not only flat and one dimensional, but also plain wrong at times.
There are many examples of different fandom controversies I could give you, but all of them are hyper specific and I want to keep this post general (Maybe a Future post?) But again, there are several examples I could give so if you wanna look into it yourself, these are just a few things to look into (like fandom's, terms, etc.):
Bsd (Bungou Stray Dogs. Specifically the "Nurse Scene Debate" but a lot of fandom discussion can further prove my point).
Tmf (The Music Freaks. This is a smaller fandom, but there's just lot of conversation surrounding characters. Take your pick and theres bound to be 'controversy,' of some sort).
Winx Club (Conversation surrounding Bloom, the Mary Sue debate in specifically).
Mary Sue (This is not a fandom, but this word in general is grossly overused and misused).
Queer Baiting (Again, not a fandom but the debates about this terms meaning lends itself nicely to this conversation of media literacy).
Any Modern movie with remote social commentary (Just look into discussions surround these movies. A lot of times there will be lacking takes to either explain a love or hate for these movies. Almost always do these fall into a logical fallacy).
Mha (My Hero Academia. Oh gOD- so much for this fandom... so much...)
There are many more examples, but you get the idea. I find animated works are guilty of having this issue. But this can be traced back to the fact that animated television draws in younger audiences. People who might not have the experiences and skills to partake in educated conversations on specific topics. So it does make sense. And just because it is most prominent in animated works, doesn't mean it doesn't occur in other types of artistic works.
I do see a lot of people discredit the media literacy conversation. Saying that telling people they're media illiterate is just the new way to not let people have opinions. Or that it's mainly a talking point of conservatives to discount genuine social critiques of movies and modern television.
And while this is sometimes the case, because people do abuse the argument of media literacy a lot. I think a majority of the time people are just lacking the analytical skills necessary to have conversations and don't like being told they're wrong.
Media Literacy is genuinely an issue in today's society. It is a travesty that a lot of people lack the skills to analyze any form of media ranging from Movies to Books to Television. And don't be mistaken, this doesn't just impact how we interact with media as a society, but also how we interact with each other.
Because the basic skills we use to analyze movies and books, correlate with the skills we need to understand people and their perspectives. It's how we understand arguments we present to each other about anything and everything.
The lack of media literacy is just the start and warning signs of larger issues to come. And outside of that, it's just plain sad. The education system has failed people and some people with the resources to learn have chosen to fail themselves.

What’s your most unpopular DN opinion? (It can be about canon, fanon the fandom)
Hmmmm... I feel like I always have to kinda remind myself of like. The opinions of people who aren't extremely longterm involved in this fandom when I think about this stuff.
I feel like my opinion that it's not like an overrated "starter anime" kinda show might be unpopular? As in people tend to often say things like "yeah everybody knows and likes Death Note, but it's not ACTUALLY high quality stuff, we all just liked it when we were 13 and are nostalgic about it now" and scoff at the idea that you could actually read anything thought-provoking into it or admire it as just a really entertaining and well-put-together and original piece of media. Like idk I've watched thousands of movies and read hundreds of books and comics in my 20s/30s and it's just still one of the best of the bunch to me. The art style is unreal, it's such a fun blend of multiple genres, it makes you think about a lot of cool stuff while also not being so sombre and preachy that it's boring, and it's funny as hell even when it's also depressing or difficult to watch! Light is actually a more complex and fascinating character to follow and analyze than MANY others, even in writing that is considered "important" serious literature as well, btw. I'm not saying the series is perfect and beyond any criticism by any means, but I also have a hard time agreeing with the people who dismiss it as if it's just such a basic overrated and not ACTUALLY that good piece of media or something.

While there are smarter people than me who have already analyzed Wish's themes, I'd like to put out some things I wanna say about each character and how they tie to the movie's themes.
The general message and theme of Wish is pursuing your dreams, a basic aesop that has been in many family movies. However, Wish's take on this moral is somewhat applicable to pursuing a career.
To give a straight forward cynical example; you, a young artist who wishes to work as an animator in the industry. Giving your wish to Magnifico, who represents the person in charge of said industry takes away your ability to draw and the passion to achieve your dream as an animator. So, you sat there back at home, waiting for a call from the industry in hopes that you have been applied.
When Magnifico does grant the few wishes, he immediately gives people the "job" they waited for years, ie a seamstress and a loyal knight. While not exactly in the movie, this applies to the probability of people who have achieve their dreams and find it unfulfilling or even stressful. The wishes he granted are the ones that he deems benefiting for him; a loyal knight who will do anything he wants them to do and a seamstress who will make the most beautiful dresses for the wealthiest people in the kingdom, himself.
Suddenly getting a position you dreamed of for years without proper training can lead to inexperience, hence why if you want to go to space, you have go to go through immense training. Without the passion to put in the effort to pursue a career, you won't learn how some dreams can be difficult to achieve so you go pursue other means to achieve your wish or even make a new one.
In contrast to Magnifico's instant and literal granting of wishes, Star cannot grant people what they want but helps them by giving them the means the pursue them.
Star, and eventually Asha are fairy godmothers. While most people see fairy godparents as good magical beings who grants your dreams, this is not true. The blue fairy gave Gepetto a son but it's up to Pinocchio to fulfill that wish by learning to be a real boy with the help of Jimminy whom the Blue Fairy assigned to be his conscience. Cinderella never wanted the prince to fall in love with her, she wanted a nice night out as an equal to her stepfamily at the ball. Her fairy godmother leaving the glass slippers are the tools to help her get out of her abusive life and is eventually rewarded with the freedom she deserves by being kind and hopeful. While there is no fairy godmother in Princess and the Frog, Evangeline serves as one given that Tiana wished to her and gets into a situation where she learns to value the friends and family, new and old who have always supported her achieving her and her father's dream of opening their restaurant.
Fairy godparents are the friends and family who supported you in achieving your dreams. When your dreams of opening a large business is impossible, your friends are their to help you into making a smaller one, showing that it's always possible, you just needed to guidance and the number of support. Hence why the "We are Stars" line shows that everyone are each other's fairy godparents.
As for the individual character bit, each of them represent aspects of not just Disney, but the industries Walt has inspired.
⭐️ Sabino - Sabino represents Walt and the studio. His wish to inspire people to pursue their dreams is reminiscent how Walt and his work became the inspiration for people to pursue to their passion in animation which also lead to other studios making animated movies.
⭐️ Dahlia and Simon - As I wrote in a previous post, Dahlia and Simon are opposites. Dahlia has already achieve her dreams to become a baker and if she is given a chance to have her wish "given" to Magnifico, she'll presumably decline and would improve her skills without him. While Simon had worked to achieve his dream to become a knight, he blindly follows Magnifico in high hopes only for him to lose his will to him and seeing how terrible Magnifico was and had never cared for him. Reminiscent of people who dream of working for their favorite celebrity only to be disappointed in knowing who they actually are.
⭐️ Star - Like I wrote above, Star is the friends and family who supports you into pursuing your dreams. As a being of joy, hope, possibility and wonder, Star is somewhat representative of child like innocence, as in how grown ups encourage their children into pursuing a hobby they like and once they go through the struggles, we are there to comfort them. This contrasts Magnifico's excuse to not grant the wishes; he thinks people fear the struggles of achieving their goals, Star helps them embrace the struggles.
⭐️ Amaya - While I already made many posts about Amaya, I genuinely want to make more because of how unappreciated she is, moreso than the husband who claimed he is. While I have written how she's representative of people who been in unhealthy relationships and accepting that their partner/spouse has become toxic, her story can be applicable to abusive families. Basically, Rosas is her and Magnifico's children and when Magnifico starts behaving unhealthily to their "children", ie telling them and doing things to them "for their own good", she resorts into getting him locked away from her and her children as she and them start support and heal each other from the experience. Magnifico being an emotionally abusive father to Asha who he treats as a servant than an apprentice/sorceress in training in an AU is something I'm surprised hasn't been made, as far as I know and I do encourage others to make one based on this.
🪞Magnifico - As that one post has written, Magnifico represents the shady people in charge of the film industry who scrapped, stolen and hoards ideas that will never been made, completed or released. Even though that post has already described what I wanted to write about him, there's another aspect I like to bring up. Heads up, Magnifico simps who're might be reading this, I heed you to cover your delicate eyes.
This thing is Magnifico, and the IP's are the wishes he hoards. While he has the power and status to give these IP's to the people who waited years for them, he hoards them in his metaphorical vault and gives them something different they didn't want but are conditioned to accept.
At the end of the film, the wishes being returned, not granted, returned are applicable to how in example artists now knowing that the industry has declined them of their dreams to become an animator and make their own movie/show start to work independently with other artists.
In what I wrote above on Magnifico instantly granting the three wishes of the people who questioned him, they'd be end up unhappy. This is especially considering how he gives them the items seen in their dreams, but are just meaningless objects that just happened to appeared in their wishes, scissors for the seamstress, armor and sword for Simon. The man who wants to climb a mountain would just be given a flag and Magnifico would tell him to find the nearest mountain to climb. The old woman who wants to sail the sea would be given a ship with no crew to help her sail it. The woman who wants to fly would likely become weightless as she struggles on how to actually control her flying. If Magnifico did have granted these wishes, and since he cares very little of what his people wanted, he's the definition of "Be Careful What You Wish For". And especially considering his song about how "ungrateful" his people are to him, wish granted or not, there be very little difference.
While we don't see how these wishes can be granted once they were returned, we can conclude by logical and accessible means. Like how two people share a wish on flying, they work on a device that helps them glide in the air. Same with the man and the old woman, they will find the right people to support in funding an expedition to climb any mountain and sail a ship to visit places.
Magnifico sees their wishes "literally" hence why he doesn't want to grant them other than his selfish reasons to hoard them, but the images are general representations of their dreams. For example, a child wishes to become a mermaid and swim with the fishes, and when she grows up and accepts that mermaids are not real, she still works for that dream and becomes a marine biologist who uses diving equipment to go underwater and see marine life in person.
That's what achieving a dream is.

On today’s episode of ‘Yuca Analyzes Silly Things (For No Reason)’, I will be talking about Ataru and how he views his love for Lum.
Ataru’s relationship with Lum is complicated, he loves her but he doesn’t want to act like a couple with her, much to Lum’s disappointment. To answer why this is the case, we’ll have to first look at how he initially viewed Lum.
Ataru’s first impression of Lum was that of a sexy alien princess and was instantly drooling over her when he saw her. But later on, him being unable to catch Lum’s horns has caused him to feel annoyance towards her since everyone kept blaming him for failing. This annoyance grew into hatred when she answered his “marriage proposal” causing Shinobu to break up with him (they do resolve the tension by chapter 2, but Lum returning in chapter 3 made things worse for them). Ever since then Ataru has hated Lum, constantly asking her to get out, saying he doesn’t love her, admitting she’s a nuisance, taking away her powers and feeling no guilt for that, etc. But from Kurama’s introduction, we learn that he does love her the most… just like every other woman. The first thing we can tell for sure Ataru’s ‘Love (The romantic kind)’ can be divided into two categories, Lust and True Love. Even tho his eyes did wander from woman to woman, What he initially felt for Shinobu was a milder version of his True Love, he protected her from the imp demon after all and stopped Lum from trying to kill her off. But, once Lum slowly starts taking over his life, he realizes that he can’t be with Shinobu anymore and the desperation to be with her turned his mild true love into lust (as of chapter 10, which is the first time he acts like a proper pervert around Shinobu as well as put her in the same place as Lum). So from Oyuki’s introduction,his love for every woman was basically lust… up until the Otoko Kumino chapter.
The Otoko Kumino chapter is a great chapter and personally my favorite Lum chapter, because it’s the first time we see her genuinely care about Ataru. This isn’t something just the readers can see, but it’s something obvious to Ataru as well because for the first time in his life, something she has done for him doesn’t end up backfiring on him, but instead actually saves him, which has him thinking that Lum might not be so bad after all (or in his words “Is it just me, or was Lum always this cute?”). After that he holds hands and walks with her which is basically an open act of love which is something Ataru doesn’t like to willingly do, so we can conclude that he hasn’t realized that he’s falling for her, yet. He only realizes that he genuinely loves her in the chapter where she leaves him to renew her passport causing him to breakdown or to be specific in the scene where she’s back and when Ataru couldn’t help but start smiling, but immediately turns his face away from her in realization that he loves her, but she shouldn’t know or else he’ll have to be committed to her which isn’t something he can do easily (habits are difficult to break after all). And from there their relationship starts growing.
Now why does he love her? At first it was because he was touched about her act of kindness of helping him as Otoko Kumino, but by the time she leaves him in “Since Your Parting”, it’s very much alluded in the first scene in the classroom (the remake plays this up with the extra scenes with Ataru’s family and stuff) that it’s because she’s genuinely loves him despite his flaws and even if he does stupid things, she chooses to still stays with him and by his side no matter what, which is something no woman has ever done for him (Shinobu did to an extent as well but she eventually ended up breaking up with him once she realized that he wasn’t the man of her destiny).
(Also, I want to point out that this reasoning was also kind of said out loud by Ataru in the ‘Only You’ movie which is surprising considering the OG anime wasn’t really strong in character writing.)
Now if he does love her, then why doesn’t he agree to do couple stuff (here I mean stuff like kissing, flirting, saying “I love you”, etc.) with her? That’s because he does all those things with other woman to the point they have lost that specialness. It may still be special to her, but not to him because Lum isn’t any woman, he’s the only one he actually cares about and he doesn’t want to give her the same treatment he gives other women. Not only that, he’s also quite respectful to Lum in that sense, like with unlike other woman, he makes sure he has her consent if he wants to take things up a notch. This can be noted in the chapter where they were alone at home and he thinks she wanted to have sex with him, he was reluctant at first, but eventually agrees, although quite embarrassed (it has to be noted that he wasn’t embarrassed when he was with Kurama and Oyuki [even tho nothing happened], showing how differently he feels about her) and of course, in the end nothing happens. But it’s nice to see that Ataru has a gentleman attitude towards Lum (even if he doesn’t listen to her).
Of course as time goes on he realizes he can’t hide his love for her forever, especially when he’s put in difficult situations. He does try giving ambiguous answers midway through his relationship with her and by the time of the ‘BOY meets GIRL’, he’s able to say how he actually feels, just indirectly. Speaking of ‘BOY meets GIRL’, let’s talk about that arc.
Ataru’s romantic conflict in this arc is trying to figure out and understand Lum and to make sure she understands him as well. Lum is pretty straightforward in her thoughts and actions, but for the first time she gets paranoid, because of the whole mushroom clone misunderstanding. From Ataru’s POV, she (actually the mushroom clone) wanted to stay with Rupa, not him, which hurts him. The next time he sees her, she’s (the real one) with him and wants his help, which confuses him and that confusion causes him to decline, hurting Lum, making her wonder whether he actually loves her or not. That causes the finale’s game of tag in which Lum want’s to hear him say “I love you”. I have previously explained why he won’t say it, but if he doesn’t say it, he’ll forget her. He wants her to understand that he does love her, but he doesn’t want it to be like this because if he says it in this situation, she’ll never know if it’s the truth or not. This doesn’t mean much to Lum (for the time being), but it means a lot to Ataru, because to him, his love for her means a lot more than just some stupid, forced confession. He doesn’t want to forget her either, since he holds on to horns believing if he does, he wouldn’t have to forget her, which she eventually realizes when he yells “How could I ever forget?!” and then accidentally dropping her horns confirming his feelings. The final scene and his final dialogue shows him no longer denying his love or giving ambiguous answers, but instead promising to eventually say “I love you” on his deathbed. I like to personally believe that their relationship even though still chaotic, is a lot smoother and that they understand each other better after those events.

if not already asked, leon for the character ask :) basic but opinions vary!

Why I like them: I fully expected this guy with his John Cena-esque go getter attitude and aggressively marketable ace to annoy the shit out of me, but the truth is is that hating Leon is like hating a puppy. You just can't. He's just a nice fuckin dude that wants to keep everyone safe even though he's just one man. There's also the fact that he's essentially a grown up ex-protagonist which the game delves into a little with his complicated emotions surrounding losing the title he's had since he was eleven by the end of the game and the fandom's done some FASCINATING psychological deep dives with.
Why I don’t: I feel like GameFreak failed a bit with show don't tell with him. Some of the ways GameFreak try to make him seem really intelligent and capable are...a little on the nose to say the least. Like for instance him estimating how much Hop has grown during his introduction scene COULD be taken as a hint they don't get to see each other often but nah I really do suspect they wanted the kiddies to be like WOW THIS GUY IS SO SMART HE CAN DO MATH lol. I do kiiiind of suspect the fandom put more effort into analyzing the guy and the kind of havoc being a massive celebrity since the age of 11 can wreak on your personal life than GameFreak ever did but that's very much not a bad thing IMHO. I'm not one of those IF IT'S NOT STRICT CONFIRMED CANON IT'S OF THE DEVIL people (and honestly rather detest them)
Favorite episode (scene if movie): I...don't think the Anime showcased the better sides of his personality well (he loses the protective streak and just kind of comes off like a self-absorbed manchild that everyone loves because he can defy basic Pokemon battle logic in the same way Ash can. He's a protagonist But Annoying This Time) so I'm not terribly interested in seeing more.
Favorite season/movie: See above.
Favorite line: Tbh I don't have one particular standout one immediately coming to mind and I'm feeling too lazy to go through his quotes page rn. His catchphrase IS fun to meme about I will say.
Favorite outfit: He absolutely kills everything that's not the Sponsorship Cape tbh. The guy has GOOD fashion sense despite the memes, corporate was just holding him back.
OTP: Raihan/Piers/Leon for reasons I already went into in the Raihan response lol (the vibes between him and Rai are interesting and pretty damn hard to deny but Piers is holding up 90% of my mental health on his bony little shoulders rn and also I wanna see him and Leon interact more) I'd also love he and Sonia to work thier shit out, they are cute as FUCK together in Pokespe
Brotp: The platonic Raileon enjoyer strikes again. Id also certainly take he and Piers being bros too. Also he and Nemona would be absolutely insufferable together and I'd love to see it someday lol
Head Canon: One thing that was inspired the anime and a certain infamous wall punching scene is that through no real fault of his own he and Raihan's relationship was actually dangerously close to fraying for a bit. He WANTS to be a good and supportive friend to his favorite person but he's gotten fame and empty adoration pretty much handed to him for long enough that he can't REALLY understand what's going on in Raihan's head, the immense pressure he's putting himself under and the frankly unhealthy behaviors he's starting to develop. It's gonna take the pressure of the championship being gone for Leon to stop being the impossible standard Raihan's harming himself with and start being an uncomplicated source of companionship again. On a brighter note he's a good enough guy that once he becomes Chairman he's gonna prove he deserves that position by taking steps to reverse Rose's power consolidation to make sure no one person can cause that much trouble for the nation of Galar again. He'll prove his worthiness to rule by NOT being a total corporate dictator.
Unpopular opinion: I've bitched about finding him annoying in the anime enough so instead I'll say I actually don't mind how involved he was in the game plot, it's honestly kind of weird other adults HAVEN'T been like "why are we letting random ten year olds go into very dangerous situations unaccompanied" before if you think about it
A wish: The same as the others, I'd love to see him again IF he's not miserable or acting like an ass.

honestly, i think the main reason why i’m so obsessed with her is rooted in how much of a mess she is. her personality is just all over the place, but that just makes it soooo much more interesting to actually analyze her as a character imo

probably the way she’s written in her quest </3 for some reason, hyv really wants her to be this absolute girlboss who can do no wrong, and i think it would have been *so* much more compelling if they delved deeper into why she acts the way she does and how her trauma has shaped her and her flaws… instead of basically using paimon to tell the audience how to feel about her, yk?
7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
the fanfics! there are soooo many fanfics out there that genuinely do her character so much justice (more than hyv could ever offer tbh) and i really enjoy seeing how different people interpret different aspects of her character… and of course this includes your work as well! <3
8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?
it’s very, very obvious that a large portion of her fanbase in particular only really values her for her looks, and idk why but it bothers me so much 😭 like as much as i think everyone is entitled to enjoy characters the way they want to, it does make me a little sad that people will ignore everything about her personality because they only see her as a waifu or whatever
also i think she’s one of the most heavily mischaracterized characters in the entire game but i’m also extremely biased when i say that
22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don't like?
i love it when writers explore her childhood
i dislike it when she’s portrayed as overly aggressive or angry… she just doesn’t seem like the kind of person to lash out that easily

definitely an animated tv show! not only because i love animation in general, but also because it would give her the chance to have some pretty badass scenes!!

i think sara would be a very clean and quiet roommate, but i would also be a little intimidated by her so…. maybe?

I've been pondering if I should send this question in for a while now but I just gotta know.
Did they evolve to be anime?
Now I know what ur thinking "Anon wtf do you mean?" let me explain.
So, we see all the statues of the great 7, right? And all of the statues and portraits of them are just them. they look exactly the same as they do in their movies, all cartoony like. But don't you think it's weird how no one has commented on their appearance being all cartoonish?
The twst universe is filled with handsome anime men. they're around every corner. And you can probably tell that they look nothing like the great 7, all considerably different.
So the theory I purpose is: What if, way back when, everyone DID look cartoonish back in the olden days, but as time went on, things changed about their appearance to look more anime. Why? idk man.
How do beastmen fit into this since evolution takes a while especially if it's an animal becoming more human-like? Maybe beastmen evolved after the anime switch-up.

Well, it’s definitely the first time I’ve heard of such a theory, even if it’s just a crack (not meant to be taken seriously) theory 🤔 (Us TWST fans really will analyze anything down to the smallest detail or atom, lol)
It’s an interesting concept, but that’s not really how evolution works. Random traits don’t evolve and appear in a large population “just because”. The environment “selects” for the traits which are best suited for survival in particular conditions, and then those surviving organisms are able to pass that beneficial trait onto their offspring. I… don’t see the evolutionary advantages to characters “turning anime” over time. (I’m not counting the point “more physically attractive people have a leg up in finding a partner(s)” because 1) humans are capable of non-physical attraction, and 2) the variation among anime traits is too high (example: all the bright colored hair despite environments in Twisted Wonderland highly varying) for everyone to coincidentally all converge in the same style; there would theoretically still be a handful of people walking around in the “old” style).
For such drastic changes to occur, it would probably also take an extraordinary amount of time, which doesn’t line up with the technological advances we see in the Disney classics versus modern Twisted Wonderland. All of the stories of the G7 took place at least at a time with primitive inventions like wheels and fire, which were used estimated to have first been discovered ~5000 and 200,000-50,000 years ago, respectively. Assuming the course of history is similar to our world, the earliest possible time for the G7 stories to have been set is around then (and that’s being very generous). But then consider that some traits take millions of years to appear and/or disappear. Many people, for example, get appendicitis because the appendix, which has been estimated to have been in various animals for ~80 million years, is still in their bodies despite no longer serving a clear function (at least not in humans). Modern TWST has tech like smartphones and touch screen tables, so that’d be similar to the 21st century for us irl; in the (relatively) short time span of thousands of years to 2023ish, I don’t think that would be nearly enough time to essentially completely change an entire race’s look (ie their “style”). Major changes take millions and millions of years to come into fruition. It’s true that mutations can occur! However, they are rarely so largely noticed (most of them end up getting corrected by the genes themselves) or are so atomically beneficial that it ends up dominating an entire group. (Note: it is stated in canon that beastmen evolved from actual animals and that Malleus has ancestors who were actual dragons, but that’s basically all the lore we have in regards to evolution.)
The G7 looking different from the TWST characters is the result of the classic Disney style differing greatly from Yana Toboso’s style (ie meta outside of the actual world of the game). No characters find this discrepancy odd because, in all likelihood, the styles don’t appear different to them in-universe. The G7 probably just have a variety of facial features and body types that differentiate them from the average student or staff member at NRC. For example, the Beautiful Queen and Thorn Witch have slender bodies (which are most anatomically similar to the TWST characters) but sharper eyes, the Sea Witch is plump, the Queen of Hearts has a rotund body and nose, the King of Beasts and Sorcerer of the Sands are lanky, and the Lord of the Underworld has more angular facial features. Variation like this also exists in real life.
We the players only notice the cartoonishness vs the anime look because we are omniscient third parties. Our stand-in for the TWST world, Yuu, does not take note of, nor ever comment on, this style difference that the irl players do. If the G7 did look very weirdly different from everyone else, you’d think Grim would make a cheeky comment about it or Yuu would point it out—but they don’t. Therefore, I can only come to the conclusion that in the eyes of everyone in TWST, the G7 are just regular ass looking people rather than individuals who look stylistically out of place. If you think about it, Mickey Mouse also appears to have an extremely differently style than the TWST characters and is actually a character we meet face-to-face; he has no shading at all and looks flat to us (the players), yet Yuu, Grim, and others still never comment about that or why he can stand and walk despite lookin 2D. They are focused on his relation to Yuu rather than on his appearance. This supports the idea that, in the eyes of the characters IN Twisted Wonderland, Disney characters may not be registered in that stylistic difference. They must look like they “belong” in that world, and thus in the same style as the TWST characters (from their perspective, NOT the players’ perspective).
Something else to consider is that we haven’t (or rather, can’t) met the G7 in person. All the instances of them we’ve seen are portraits in Crowley’s office and the statues on Main Street—in other words, works of art. Who is to say that these legendary historical figures are accurately depicted? Even if they consistently look the same across depictions, it could just be that most artists collectively agreed “yup, based on what we know of history… they must look like this”. Alternatively, these (“Disney style”) depictions of the G7 could be the result of a popular artist movement or style present at the time period(s) in which the seven were at their prime. Again, these points are all also true of real life instances of artworks featuring important figures.

What is your favorite thing about the Rise of TMNT movie, and why? What hit you the most?

All thoughts under the cut cuz i'm going to write a lot lol (also apologies if my ramble makes no sense i am not a very well-spoken person teehee)
but tl;dr the balance of angst/comfort, the subltety in facial expressions and how it adds so much to the story, the animation in the action scenes
OKAY SO-
My favorite thing about the rottmnt movie? Oh man i dont think i can pick one thing. I'll just list the main ones 🤭
The fact that it was able to stray away from the goofy and lighthearted nature of the show but is still able to feel like rottmnt. The rottmnt movie is much darker and angstier than the show, but it still captures the essence of the characters and their personalities very well -- and it also explores their characters in a situation that calls for a more serious tone and it is beautifully done. The suble facial expressions and body language in each character speaks volumes on their personalities.
Speaking of which, i absolutely love the story they were able to tell solely on the facial expressions of the characters -- namely leo. In the movie, leo goes uncharacteristically quiet in some scenes, so it's much easier for the viewer to analyze his face to try and read what hes thinking.
Here, leo is face to face with krang for the first time in the movie, and it is apparent in his face. The look of sheer horror as he's trying to process what exactly he's fighting. The intense strength and overwhelming size of this... monster is absolutely daunting. He doesn't know what to do.
This is just one of many examples of the story leo creates with just his face. Down here we see another, clearer example.
Contemplation. Realization. Determination.
Leo understands the weight of the situation. Casey warned them it will only get worse if they do not get that key. But everyone is compromised. They have retreated. Everyone except him. He understands what he must do next, but is incredibly afraid. Going up there alone is a definite death wish. But someone has to pay for his mess, might as well be him. He readies himself to release the escape pod.
Like OHH MY GODDD. This part has to be one of my favorite scenes from the movie. It gave me goosebumps the first time i watched it. It clearly expresses his emotions to the viewer without him having to say anything. Just 10/10, beautifully done scene.
I could honestly write a 10 page essay on just the facial expressions in the movie, but moving on before this gets too long. The action scenes. They were so beautifully animated.
Especially this one right here!!! The camera moves at a pace to where its not disorienting/dizzy. And the colors of the turtles' ninpo makes it easier to understand what's going on. This entire scene was incredibly well choreographed. The showcasing of each of the brothers' fighting style (donnie's and leo's are more apparent in the deleted storyboard version but still) was soooo cool. And they're ultimate combo move was absolutely amazing as well (even though they got their asses beat right after 💀).
And this might be a basic answer but what hit me the most was the leo crying scene. Seeing the comical, pun-loving, unserious character break down thinking those were his last moments alive absolutely destroyed me. I honestly love the "comedic relief dies a hero" trope so this whole movie catered to my tastes very well lol. Anyway, rant over. I'd be surprised if you read this far but thanks for letting me infodump i've been waiting for someone to ask me about this movie since i watched it 👍

Mr Badge, as an (unwilling?) connoisseur of Hallmark Christmas movies, do you have any recommendations for particularly good or enjoyable ones?
Ah, see, the problem is they're so much of a muchness, and I never pay attention to titles, so I could be like "well there's the one about the cookies" which, there's actually like 15 about cookies, and I have no idea which is the one I saw, and also because they're made in about two weeks by like, four guys with a binder and a camera, often the information about them online is incomplete.
I do have a few, but I also want to caveat that Hallmark Christmas movies are rarely something you just sit down and watch. Usually they're something you put on in the background while doing other things, or you sit and "watch" them while surfing on your phone or doing handcrafts or something. Most of them are extremely difficult to focus your entire attention upon. :D
If you can catch the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries "Happy And Friends Yule Log", it is far and away the finest yule log out there. The focus will be, for a while, on a fireplace with a merry fire burning, flanked by gifts and Christmas trees...then it will cut to a Christmas ornament for a minute, and when it cuts back, kittens and puppies (and the occasional potbelly pig) will be cavorting in front of it. I believe all the animals in the film are rescues, and Happy The Dog and Happy The Cat, who are the "hosts", are adorable. (You can see an earlier year's here.)
Also if you're looking for a bit of a very gentle romcom without the Christmas angle, basically any Hallmark movie featuring or produced by Kavan Smith is A+ by Hallmark standards, especially since as he's gotten older he's generally cast women his age to play opposite him, and they don't really worry too much about airbrushing out the odd wrinkle or grey hair. He really loves Hallmark movies and he has really good taste in scripts.
Finally, if you're looking for ideas for movies to watch, listen to the podcast It's Christmastown -- they review and analyze Hallmark movies, so you can listen to the podcast, get their view on it, and then decide whether you want to watch it. Jeb and Dave are really funny, too, and super nice to talk to.
Anyway, I have a few titles below the cut...
Christmas At Pemberley Manor is a fun one especially if you like Jane Austen because it has nothing to do with Jane Austen. It's just a modern-day AU with about the skill level of a tenth grader just trying out fanfic for the first time. It is, however, still pretty charming, and has the closest thing I have ever seen to an actual villain in a hallmark movie. Also the Darcy character is fun to watch because he's so clearly a better-written character trapped in a Hallmark film. I believe it's got at least one sequel, though I haven't seen it. (I've heard the other Hallmark Austen AU nonsense, Unleashing Mr. Darcy and its sequels, are pretty good, but I haven't seen them.)
A Shoe Addict's Christmas was memorable at first mainly for the title, but if you can put up with Candace Cameron Bure's....bureness (I would normally recommend avoiding the ones she's in because she generally insists on a high level of evangelism) it's actually a really charming story and Jean Smart is fucking hilarious in it. :D And I think...the thing about A Shoe Addict's Christmas is that like many Hallmark movies, under the fluff there is something interesting about the way these movies view womens' lives. You can make all the jokes you want about Big City Woman Coming Home To Get Negged By A Man but that's actually pretty rare. Most Hallmark Christmas movies are about a woman who is unhappy with her life and is challenged -- yes, by the love interest generally, but that's how romances work -- to examine her choices and make ones that are better for her. Which is very much what this movie is about -- a woman reliving her life through memories of the shoes she wore and loved, and wondering what would have happened if she'd made different choices.
There's one about a bakery getting bought out that I thought featured a man as the baker and a woman as the Agent Of The CEO but I can't find that one so I think I must have mixed it up; in any case Christmas In Love is a movie about a kringle bakery that I recall as being pretty enjoyable.
This is a Lifetime movie and I'm going to caveat that also I am Not A Jew, but as a student of Judaism I actually really loved Mistletoe & Menorahs, which is about a toy executive who gets mistaken for being Jewish and has to learn Jewish custom and tradition in order to make a big pitch to one of the executives. It was written by a Jewish man and clearly some of the artistic staff were also Jewish, and I think there's a depth to it that I really found delightful. The example I always point to is that her Jewish love interest, at one point, is waking up from a nap and goes to the door wrapped in a blanket to let her in, and the blanket is fringed and draped to look (obviously deliberately) like a prayer shawl.
Netflix also has one, or had it, IDK if it's still available, called A Christmas Prince, and it was heavily influential in how I designed Fete For A King. I thought an extremely nice touch was that the prince's younger sister is visibly disabled and as far as I can recall it's not a huge deal ever, there's no magical healing or even a desire to be different, she's just...disabled and present as a whole human. (I'd need to rewatch so like, don't necessarily take my word for it, but I recall really liking the sister both as a person and as disabled rep.)
Netflix also has a whole series of Christmas movies starting with The Princess Switch which are about a princess and a baker who look startlingly alike, and both The Princess Switch and Princess Switch 2: Switched Again are fascinating. I can't really say whether or not they're good, but they're so fucking bonkers it almost doesn't matter. They're the best kind of zany because they're not playing it for ironic laughs, they really commit to the bit.
Lastly, I have mixed feelings about the Signed Sealed Delivered For Christmas movie (which is a holiday movie based on a pre-existing series, but you don't have to have seen the series to understand it) because it's got some weird problematic evangelical stuff in it, but also the Signed Sealed Delivered films/series -- about a crew of people who work in the dead letter office of the USPS -- are kind of charming. They have a really compelling setup and feature a number of characters that very obviously code as autistic, who work in jobs where their skills are appreciated and get nice romances with pretty people. And the romantic hero drinks YooHoo out of a wineglass which you really have to see to understand the weird hilarity of.
Hallmark also has an app that if you download it will put every new Hallmark Christmas premiere movie on your google calendar (ask me how I know: my mother did this and it put every Hallmark film coming out that year on our family calendar) and they usually release between 20 and 40, so sometimes it's good for a laugh just to sit down and watch one and giggle at the production values or weird writing.

This is not an analysis lol, I made the rant on TT regarding Kenjaku's poem in jjk206, this panel in particular:
I'm not sure if someone will analyze it later but im putting it here in case my tweets got washed away.
A lot got lost in translation, but this quote of him is written like a short poem in the original text.
(Please don't take this as it is, because I can only do so much research on my own, it might not be entirely accurate.)

If you understand Vietnamese (or Japanese, Chinese) you'll see how this quote sounds so glorious and powerful in those languages in comparison to English. I think the one above is fan translation? The jist is there, but there are a lot to break down from this "poem".
In Vietnamese it's like this:
"Nghìn năm không ngừng (1)
Long tranh hổ đấu (2)
Hợp tung liên hoành (3)
Với cái thế giới nguyền rủa này" (4)
Because Vietnamese can directly translate Chinese to the exact character, the syllables from both language might be more similar than Japanese. The first 3 sentences have 4 syllables, which can be a base for 4-character poems in our languages (this is also affected by the translator's skills of word selection, so thanks Trùng Roi again for this!!)
Direct translation:
(1) A thousand years, non-stop
(2) Clashing between dragons ("long") and tigers ("hổ")
(3) [I can't directly translate this, I will note this later but it does have to do with wars and alliances]
(4) In this world full of curses
For (2), the "clashing between dragons and tigers" can simply means "the fight (or tug-of-war, in the translation) between the giants", because dragons and tigers have long been the image of the strongest animals in the legends. Also, when I look up the VNese term "Long tranh hổ đấu (2)", this movie "Enter the Dragon (龍爭虎鬥/Lóng Zhēng Hǔ Dòu)" comes up in the results (because that is exactly its title in VNese):
Which might be a coincident or not when Yuki (and by extension, Todo) has had her poses taking references from Bruce Lee, so this is really fascinating. (and see the 3rd character is also within Itadori's name too) I won't be surprised if Gege took the poem's references here, he seems to like Bruce Lee.
The (3) sentence is particularly difficult to explain. In the translation, it is "the capricious alliances and betrayals" but the original stems from 2 opposing war tactics by the ancient Chinese during the Warring States (475 - 221 BC).
"Hợp tung liên hoành" is a combination of 2 tactics "hợp tung" (合縱/hezong) for the vertical north-south alliance and "liên hoành"(連橫/lianheng) for the horizontal east-west alliance (please note that Japanese and Chinese characters might be slightly different in writing). The hezong alliance is opposed to Qin state, and the lianheng alliance is an ally of Qin state. I'm not going to go further into history but basically, the sentence amplifies what Kenjaku has gone through in the past thousands years ago, where they experienced the brutal wars, saw alliances being made, saw sides opposing and betrayals happening, saw the states got broken down and the heavy process of it, and knowing how The Warring States happened, it's much much more jarring than the current fight they're having. They've "lived through" such periods, showing the extensions of their intellect and experience in comparison to Tengen. Basically, this is some kind of advanced mockery and show off that Tengen can never be on his level, but Kenjaku lives up to it tbh lol.
Anyways! those are just my thoughts because I really like that "poem" and it sounds way heavier than the English translation. JJK has long been said to be a difficult work to understand even by the Japanese readers because of his complicated choice of words, so I'm a bit sad a lot of it gets lost in translation. Gege obviously does a lot of research on plenty of references in order to write this up, so I hope more people are aware of his efforts.

The Walt Disney Company Annual Report (2004) Scans
So this is a bit of an odd find, but I just had to pick it up for less than a dollar - The Walt Disney Company 2004 Annual Report.
Honestly, the cover art was what grabbed my attention.
I mean look at that! I'm not even a huge Disney fan but I did get excited seeing this collage art.
So cool...and so weird?
I feel like so many characters are missing - characters that would be "obvious" for a more recent Disney collage.
Remember Disney before Star Wars? Encanto? Frozen?
I do. Vaguely. I am pushing 30 after all. (I jest). But I basically had almost forgotten how "small" the Disney roster used to be.
Kind of hard to imagine Chicken Little was the upcoming big animated movie for 2005!
I wasn't sure what exactly an annual report magazine was, but my boyfriend knew of them. Basically, they are breakdowns of the company's products, output, projects, commitments, sales, etc., as information for current/potential investors/shareholders to have an analyze.
That being said, I truly don't have much to talk about in regards to this book. Most of it is numbers numbers numbers, math, math, math.
It was a bit of slog to scan, but I did it!
However, there are some tidbits I am interested in - primarily the pop culture ones. I'll share a few with you.
Take this page for instance: Olympic swimmers vibing in a pool with Mickey Mouse.
Doesn't get much more guys being dudes than this.
I'm being unfair, this is a picture from when they did a Disney charity swim. But still...it is funny to me with no context lol.
Or this page, about recently released/upcoming movies:
Am I the only one who didn't know NATIONAL TREASURE starring THEE Nicolas Cage was a DISNEY MOVIE?! I have no idea how this knowledge evaded me.
Also take note of the goofy photo of all the execs photoshopped into a Chicken Little backdrop. There are many of these kinds of photos, typically one for each "category". They're all a hoot because the backgrounds are so whimsical and they're all so...proper and stuffy in their suits lol.
I wanted to include this page since it references a lot of great movies, but mainly Sky High.
I'm a simple woman - I see Sky High, I simply must have to say justice for Layla x Warren Peace.
Anyways, here's a page giving MY Queen Hilary Duff her recognition for carrying Disney on her back:

Don't even get me started on Raven and Julie Andrews from Princess Diaries 2!! Their singing scene was so cute.
Also the double take when I saw BREAKING BENJAMIN? WITH HOLLYWOOD RECORDS?? HUH!!! I had to google, and it's true.
News to me!
It is kind of jarring to actually read and see how many seemingly random names/projects are associated with or straight up owned by Disney. This is especially apparent in the Broadcasting and Cable sections of the book.
I feel like we all know that now, but it's kind of jarring to look at media I grew up with and realize they're a lot more connected than I thought.
Just because I love references to old tech and the World Wide Web, I'll leave off with the first page of the Walt Disney Internet Group section.
The absolute chokehold Toontown Online had on me as a kid, and I never even played the game!! The thought of an online MMO was so fun to me, but I never got the chance to play it. I did regularly visit the Disney Channel website to play the games though!
