Wonder Tummy Jisung Chapter 14 Back To The Wildlife

June was approaching. Jisung used to accompany Minho to the gym. He often saw Changbin, Bangchan, and Jeongin there. He didn't quite understand what all the instruments he considered terrifying were for. According to Minho, they served to gain muscles. But when he wanted to try, he had simply managed to swallow all the material in the room. He never came to join them, except to make one or two pieces of equipment disappear deep in his belly. Obviously, life was very complicated for him to understand.
He watched Minho doing his exercises while curling up a bit more in the sofa that had been specially set up for him. The summer heat tired him. He was holding a bottle of ice cubes against him. He wondered how the others could stand the heat. But they had never received penguin DNA…
He took off his t-shirt and closed his eyes. His belly was completely soaked with sweat and the feathers were stuck to his body. He breathed heavily.
Bangchan approached him. Their bodies were very different. The first was well muscled, the second had a round belly.
"Hey buddy, how are you?"
No answer. Lifting Jisung's eyelids, he realized that he had passed out from the heat.
"Jeongin, is it you who did research on penguins ?"
"His DNA must come from a penguin that only lives in cold climates…"
Completely panicked, Minho abandoned his exercises to hug Jisung. He tried to give him some water to drink but Changbin stopped him.
"You're going to choke him, wait until he wakes up…"
Bangchan passed a wet washcloth over the young man's face and tried his best to moisturize his body.
"We'll just try to put him in the pool…"
Minho gently picked up Jisung and lowered him into the pool, holding him tight. Almost immediately, he felt him move.
"Jisung? Are you okay ?"

"We'll take you home…"
He got up and put his clothes back on, before taking Jisung with him. He made him take a cold bath to cool his body.
Hyunjin entered the bathroom shivering.

"Put on a sweater, I turned on the air conditioning, Jisung can't stand the heat."

He looked sadly at his naked friend in the bathtub.
"Can you please leave us alone? Why are you even here?"

Unfortunately Minho couldn't stay with Jisung any longer. He had to go back with Bangchan, Jeongin and Changbin to finish the gym training.
"I'll be back soon, I promise…"
The young man got out of the bath once he felt better and put on some clean pants. He remained shirtless and went to the kitchen to drink. He was terribly thirsty… He drank half a bottle of Pepsi and swallowed the bottle for later. He must have drunk too quickly and was seized with a string of very unpleasant hiccups.
He sat down on the sofa, next to Felix. The young blond seemed captivated by his game, when he noticed Jisung's hiccups.
"Are you good, mate ?"

Felix allowed himself to give him a few pats on the back. The hiccups continued, until the ingested air came out audibly, along with the bottle of Pepsi. Felix laughed. Jisung raised an eyebrow, visibly surprised.
"Doesn't it disgust you?…"
"No, go on, it's too funny!"
A wide smile appeared on Jisung's face. He finished the bottle before swallowing menthos. The inevitable happened. Wall-shaking belches echoed throughout the house. The most improbable and imposing objects sprang from his mouth.
In his room, Hyunjin, turned on by the noise, took his banana in his hands and started jerking off without embarrassment…

At the same time, the fishbone came out of the young man's mouth without warning. Bangchan sighed.
"No matter how hard he tries, he will never be able to adapt here. Besides, he slaughtered the living room with his bullshit. I don't want to see him anymore."
Minho glared at Bangchan and took Jisung aside, just to help him pack his suitcase… The older didn't say anything, visibly angry, and the younger seemed too shocked to articulate a single sentence. Jisung spat out everyone's stuff and walked out with one last sad look at Minho.
"I'm sorry…"
Minho looked away. Hyunjin arrived in front of the door without really understanding.
"Is he leaving?…"
"Hyunjin. There's a huge white stain on your pants."

okay ed sheeran loving bitches listen to me
i’m at my goal weight in under 3 weeks and it wasn’t by exercising and it wasn’t by starving myself
i didn’t know how to lose weight but all i wanted was to be skinny so i didn’t eat and then my body would crave high calorie foods so intensely because i was starving myself and i would binge eat. it’s a cycle.
the key to weight loss is keeping your insulin levels low which basically means keeping your blood sugars low because it triggers insulin and insulin stops fat burning. what raises insulin levels the most is sugar and simple carbs. u basically cannot be burning fat if you’re eating processed sugar. the sugar in fruit is good for you and gives you energy so eat those. avoid white bread and things with lots of carbs. avoid processed sugar.
if you’re craving junk food you haven’t eaten enough nutrients. eat healthy and wait. you need to make sure you’re eating enough good food and you won’t even crave that food anymore. you can still be in a calorie deficit just make sure you’re eating enough to have energy and not crave.
another thing i have to mention is every time you eat something your insulin levels will rise and your body is burning what you ate instead of your stored fat. so if you want to lose weight fast you should utilize hours in the day by fasting for a period of time to burn fat (not just fast while sleeping). i don’t mean starve yourself. if you can feel you’re hungry, eat. there’s still plenty of time to burn fat in the day, don’t make yourself miserable by not eating when you need to. but intermittent fasting has proven to be so good for you, it boosts metabolism, makes your body adapt to burning fat, and gives you energy (your body might take a few days to get used to it).
other tips:
eat vegetables. you’re supposed to eat 8 cups of them a day. they help you’re body burn fat. eat big salads.
eat healthy fats. avocados. nuts (remember that salt is okay to eat it actually can give you an energy boost and has no calories). don’t be scared of fats your body will burn them first.
POTASSIUM. you’re body needs it in weight loss. take a supplement 500mg a day. bananas are great. trust me it helps.
it’s okay to have treats in small doses. don’t think “oh i didn’t eat healthy i fucked up today” just remember that as long as you eat treats in small doses and utilize intermittent fasting you can still lose weight it will just be a little slower. so think “i’ll just have a slower day today because i want a cookie” and it’s okay to eat a cookie. fast for a few hours and let your body burn off the cookie and when your body actually feels hungry again eat healthy food.
try not to eat before or after you workout because your body will burn what you ate instead of your fat.
you burn the most fat while you sleep so try to not eat before bed because your body wont be burning it’s stored fat if there’s food to burn. sleep also helps in weight loss in general try to get 8-10 hours atleast.
my routine with fasting:
what i do is wake up at around 8am drink diet pepsi because i need something to do and occupy myself with something (it’s not the best for you but it’s okay). some days i’ll excersise very lightly because exercising while fasting burns fat the fastest. then i get hungry at around 11 or 12 i eat a big meal and then i don’t eat again until 6 or 7. this works for me but whatever works for you is what you should do. the important thing is to eat when your body is hungry and not when you’re bored. i love feeling skinny and drinking my green tea in the evenings at 9pm because i haven’t eaten since 6pm. i love waking up and putting my biker shorts and tank top on and going for a walk and knowing i’m burning fat because i haven’t eaten since 6pm and then looking forward to a big meal at lunch. i still get to feel like i’m getting skinny but i’m also eating enough and i don’t crave junk food like i used to. i eat smaller portions. i only eat foods i really love to eat. like smoothies and salads with chicken and fruit bowls and cauliflower nachos and avocado toast with whole wheat bread and oatmeal and salted almonds. i have energy to run and go outside and do the things i want to do in my day. im very skinny but i allow myself to eat food. im taking care of my body and it feels amazing. i’ve struggled with this for 5 years now and realizing all of this has made me so happy and look the best i ever have.

I'm going to try to go on walks more often as I don't do any other exercise. I'm a bit worried about tomorrow as it's my mum's birthday and I might have to eat quite a bit. Praying I can give some of my food to my mum under the guise of being nice on her birthday. Fingers crossed it goes okay.

Okay, it's not that serious, but I need to talk about this.

I have no idea what a Curuba is, nor am I particularly familiar with Elderflowers. It sounds like a pair of ingredients an apothecary would apothe-cary for dubious potioneering. Google informs me that a Curuba, sometimes known as a banana passionfruit, is known for having a somewhat earthy, somewhat tart flavor reminiscent of Peach or passionfruit. Actually, there were a number of articles describing them in various, sometimes conflicting, terms.
This is but one example of the fruit.
Elderflower, per a blog I found, has a "uniquely fresh, floral, green" flavor, with "subtle pear, lychee, and tropical nuances". They are, surprising nobody (even Polyphemus), the flowers of Elder trees. One post on a Red Bull consumer's blog, describes Elderflower as a "floral, musky" flavor.
This combination is a bit odd, to say the least.
If you remember the "Fig Apple" Winter Edition from two years ago, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. There's a bitter, tartness to this, that feels almost like a cider. The immediate impression I had, influenced obviously from the fact that earlier in the day, I had consumed a Cranberry Sprite, and a Dragonfruit RedBull, was that this was an apple-like analog of a Sprite or a Sierra Mist (rather than that other drink Pepsi produces which I will not mention here).
I let a few people try it when I bought one, and one of them described this flavor as similar to "Bottle Caps or SweetTarts"; the take-away being that it was like a hard, tart candy with a soda-pop texture. Another gave me a deeply confused look, said she didn't like it, but that she would definitely drink an entire can; I didn't catch any sort of paradoxical nuance to the flavor, but evidently she did.
To me, this doesn't really scream "Summer". It's too subtle, with hidden machinations, to be a Summer flavor. It's got a strangely Autumnal thing going on, to me. I guess I could associate with being a sort-of "campfire drink," which could be a summer-affair. It's got something of a "spring-to-roasted-apple-summer" thing, I think, a bit of a carnival business.
I like the effort, it pays off, but this isn't a day-to-day RedBull flavor. You could get tired of it very, very quickly. The excitement is there, but it's perhaps a roller coaster with a very steep decline.

Summary: Part 2 of the Decennial Awards (Part 1)
“Our next category is the Weirdest Sleeping Spot! As the title suggests, this category is based on the weirdest spot one has been caught sleeping.” Joe turns on the TV behind him and starts the slideshow of them all snoozing in various spots and positions. “We require plenty of rest to remain youthful. This, unfortunately, means we have to catch our Z’s in some unconventional places.”
“When did you take all these pictures?” Booker asks, leaning forward on the couch. Joe glances back and sees a picture of Booker asleep on top of a fridge. The man wasn’t even curled up on top like one would assume. No, he was half-draped over the top, head and arms hanging on the other side, looking as close to dead one can be while still alive. He looked like a poor Halloween decoration. “I don’t even remember that.”
“That’s because you’re senile,” Joe retorts and immediately wishes he can take it back. Three unimpressed faces stare back at him from the couches and Joe knows that this is going to be counted against him. Dammit. He wants to win the best host at the end of the century. Joe plasters on a winning smile. “I apologize; that comment should have been saved for after the show. All of the pictures were taken some time in the last 10 years; anything before was disqualified. Now, our first nominee, Nicolò, fell asleep in-“
Booker stands up and turns around to look at Andy and Nicky. He gestures wildly at them, some of his drink sloshing onto the floor and all over his hand. Booker slurps up what he can on his hand before saying, “Are we not going to talk about how Joe’s been taking pictures of us sleeping? For more than a decade?”
Andy lobs a peanut at him. “Sit down!” Booker catches the peanut and pops it into his mouth. For a second, Joe hopes he chokes on it.
When it’s clear that he will not, Joe says, “No, we are not. Please take a seat, sir.”
Booker whirls around, spilling more of his drink. “This is an invasion of privacy!”
“You were in a public area.”
“Technically-“
“If you have to start with technically, you’re wrong,” Joe sighs, motioning to the couch more insistently. He feels like he has just finished 8 hours of customer support and was told by his manager to cover for the coworker they’re currently sleeping with. Andy snags the back of Booker’s pants and whatever was left in Booker’s cup is now sitting on the carpet. Wonderful. “As I was saying, Nicolò, over here, fell asleep on a crane that was on top of a 500m building. He had a couple of hours to kill until his target arrived and rather than playing on his phone like any other sane person, he decided to take a nap.” Everyone turns to look at Nicky.
“I still don’t see the issue here. I even set an alarm for an hour before the scheduled arrival,” Nicky says and Andy squints at him.
“The construction workers were using the crane. It was literally spinning the entire day,” Booker says and Joe nods. Some carousels spin less than that crane.
“You cost me 500 euros,” Andy adds with a scowl. “It was supposed to be an easy win. You puked after the teacups.”
Nicky gapes at her. “That doesn’t count! Booker made me eat 5 bananas and drink 2 cans of sprite!”
“It was a projectile. You could calculate the angle of it.” You could. It was absolutely disgusting. Joe had made sure to slip the janitor an extra hundred as he tended to his violently sick husband.
Knowing that this will lead to a full-blown argument, Joe quickly interjects, “Now Sebastien, he fell asleep in the trunk of the wrong car and ended up giving a poor old lady quite the scare. Later, I would like to discuss Sebastien’s concerning taste for younger women.”
“Yeah, she was less than half your age. That’s gross, Book,” Andy teases.
“Preying on the young and vulnerable?” Nicky tuts. “Where're your morals?”
“Fuck you guys,” Booker groans.
“I like older men,” Nicky says. “Thank you, though.”
With a smirk, Joe continues. “Next is Andromache, who fell asleep on top of a moving train and managed to stay on it the entire duration of her nap. In fact, she did not even sway an inch; not even when the train was climbing the side of a mountain.”
“Less stuffy up there,” Andy says, taking a sip of her drink.
“I believe you.”
“Plenty of space.”
“No one’s going to join you, Andy,” Booker groans, leaning back on the couch. “It’s fucking cold up there.”
Nicky tilts his head, eyebrows furrowing. “That’s-,” Joe shares a look of incredulity with his husband and slowly shakes his head. It’s probably best that they leave this one alone for a couple of centuries.
“For our last nominee, Yusuf managed to find a yak and fall asleep on its back.”
“You conveniently left out the part where it woke up startled and kicked you 20 feet away.”
Joe gives him a tight-lipped smile. “Thank you, Sebastien. As always, your contribution is entirely unwanted.” Joe pulls the second envelope out. “Now for our winner,” he opens it and snorts as he reads the card. “Sebastien! Congratulations! You won this decade’s weirdest sleeping spot.”
Booker slowly gets off the couch, like he expects Joe to say ‘Psych!’ and call out somebody else’s name. Andy decides he’s moving too slow and slaps him on the ass.
“Here you go,” Joe hands him the prize when he’s a foot away and Booker frowns.
“A sleeping mask from Delta Airlines?” It’s folded in half and barely thicker than a paper towel.
“To make your sleep more pleasurable.”
“There’s a better one in the bathroom upstairs.”
“Don’t be ungrateful, it’s rude.” Did no one teach their kids manners these days? “What do you have to say?”
Booker shrugs and rubs the back of his neck. “I’m sorry, Margaret. Both cars were extremely similar.” It’s not a bad apology. Joe has definitely heard worse.
“One was a minivan, the other was a hummer, you dumbass!” Andy heckles. Sadly, she’s not lying.
“Looks the same when you’re drunk and have your eyes 90% closed.”
“Alright, thank you, Sebastien,” Joe nudges him back to his seat. “Continuing with the weirdest theme, our next category is Weirdest Death.”
Andy and Nicky groan, Booker smirks.
“Just give it to Booker already,” Andy says. “Fucker always dies in the weirdest manners.”
“He’s won every single time since he joined us,” Nicky adds, waving a dismissive hand. “Give him his prize and let him do his speech.”
“So you guys can count me off later? No way!” Joe’s not a fool. This is their test. “Unlike our previous categories, this nominee will cover both Nicolò and Yusuf. Our dearest Nicolò and Yusuf were having a lovely picnic in the middle of the safari. They were enjoying a nice Pinot Noir with some young cantal cheese when they were rudely trampled by a stampede of elephants. ��
“Picnic,” Joe really wants to wipe that stupid smirk off of Booker’s face. Nicky, his dearest heart, reaches over to smack the bane of Joe’s existence over the back of his head. It’s a satisfying thunk too. “Ow! I only have one brain, Nicky, Jesus!”
“More like one brain cell,” Nicky responds. Joe almost bends down onto one knee right there.
No. He has a plan. He’s not going to ruin it because he’s too impatient.
Joe gestures to Andy, “Andromache, was taking a stroll in one of Colorado’s mountains when she accidentally walked into a cult’s trap. After being shot with an elephant tranquilizer, she woke up tied to a tree and was shot with a special marijuana filled bullet as a sacrifice to their Marijuana god.”
“Bullets filled with marijuana,” Booker says, impressed. “If I weren't here, that’d surely be the winner.”
“I know,” Andy grumbles, taking an angry swig of her drink.
“For our reigning titleholder, Sebastien continued to drink an excessive amount of soda, despite everyone telling him that there were not going to be any bathrooms for another hour. Our stubborn Sebastien, of course, ignored us and after drinking 64oz of Pepsi, he had to pee. So in the pouring rain, Andy pulled over. Sebastien sprinted to the treeline and as he began to relieve himself, Zeus struck our poor nominee. He died in his puddle of pee.”
Nicky shakes his head, looking at Booker with a little bit of awe. “How do these things keep on happening to you?”
“The comedic gods really like me.” Something out there really likes him, that’s for sure.
Joe pulls out the correct envelope and is completely unsurprised with what he reads. “Our winner is, of course, Sebastien! Congratulations!” Joe picks up the prize and holds it out; Booker takes it with a grin.
“A voodoo doll of myself?” The doll has a denim jacket and the same haircut Booker has been sporting for the last six years. Booker pokes the doll’s eyes and squishes its plump body. “I’m keeping this.”
“And not the other prizes?”
“This one is custom made; it gets custom treatment.” He has a point. “As for my speech, I would like to thank myself, the greatest and worst person to exist.”
Joe shares another look with his husband. Andy, on the other hand, says, “The prize should’ve been therapy.”
“Okay,” Joe says after an awkward moment of silence. “Thank you for your speech; please return to your seat so we can continue.”

24/7/21
Breakfast - serving of smoothie (avocado, spinach, green capsicum, cashews, yoghurt, honey, coconut water), sweetened black coffee, 1 meringue kiss.
Snack - serving of lemon meringue pie, sweetened black tea.
Lunch - serving of instant prawn and chicken noodles with 1 egg, 2.5 servings plant based tuna, and spicy sauce, 1 meringue kiss.
Dinner - 2 servings of oven ready BBQ chicken pizza and garlic bread.
Dessert - 1 mini chocolate muffin, 1 meringue kiss, black tea.
Water - 1.8L, good.
Exercise - none.
Ate way too much for such a low level of activity. I didn't have e enough water in the morning/afternoon and wound up napping for like 3 hours in random bursts of sleepiness throughout the day.
25/7/21

Dessert - 2 buttermilk pancakes with chocolate sauce.
Water - 1.8L, good.
Exercise - none.
Tomorrow's the first day back at uni, so perhaps I'll leap back into a worn schedule with an exercise break in the afternoon.

So I didn't exercise, because I woke up late and then spent the morning/afternoon making pancakes and more meringue kisses, but I also cut back on the snacking. I count that as a win.

Breakfast - 2 buttermilk pancakes with apple pie topping and caramel syrup, sweetened black coffee, 1 meringue kiss.
Snack - serving of lemon meringue pie, green tea.
Dinner - 2 servings biriyani with 1 serving chicken curry and potato curry.

I could feel the sugar on my teeth.

Breakfast - 1 pink lady apple, 1 choc caramel muesli bar, 1 string cheese, 2 servings salted cashews, sweetened black coffee, 1 meringue kiss.
Lunch - 2 layer egg, bacon, cheese and fishcake sandwich on buttered white toast with sriracha, garlic mayo and BBQ sauce, 1 meringue kiss.
Dinner - 1 serving beef and vegetable stew, 1 kransky hot dog with tasty cheese and roasted onion in white bun.
Dessert - 3 meringue kisses, black tea.
Water - 2L, excellent.
Exercise - none.
Full day of classes and study.
Starting to break out in pimples with all the sugar and reduced water intake. They itch ; -;

Exercise - 21 mins on the treadmill at 4km/h and incline of 10%; Chloe Ting flat abs in 30 days (10 mins); 25 x (donkey kicks, butt bridges, double leg raises, crunches, half push-ups)
Had the last slice of pie today. The last time I made it was over two years ago, so I thought I'd commemorate it.
Wasn't planning on exercising but then the mood struck. The walk went well, and I took some very brief breaks during the Chloe Ting video but made it through all the moves okay (with a modified bunny-hop-plank because I was indoors), and then I threw on those 25-rep moves because my abs weren't really sore from the video, so either my muscles are still working after almost two months of rest, or I didn't do the video moves correctly. Felt good after it all, which is the main thing. :)
I'm thinking of trying to properly 'meal plan' so to speak, by being more mindful of what I eat. My weight loss seemed to go fastest when I reduced my intake of bread and dairy (and sugary treats too) so I'll aim towards those two goals, as well as more fruit and veg and protein to help me feel full.
The only sweet treats I'll accept will be meringue kisses, because there are so many to get through. :P

0.5KG down from last week. Hard to believe it's already been a week since last weigh in.
Still, that's not bad for only two days back on exercise (and all that sugar 😬)

Dinner - serving of mixed steamed veggies, 1 steamed dim sim, 1 serving roast chicken with spicy sauce and 2 servings stuffing, 0.5 corn on the cob.

Exercise - 21 mins on the treadmill at 4km/h and incline of 10%; Chloe Ting flat abs in 30 days (10 mins); 25 x (donkey kicks, butt bridges, double leg raises, crunches, half push-ups).
I noticed that I've lost the faint ab lines I worked so hard for all those months. ;n;
I've only gained maybe 1.5-2KGS from my lowest recorded weight, but it's really visible around my face and belly. And my arm muscles are hiding under the returning chub, which makes me sad. I worked hard for these muscles. They're still there, but I can't see them so well anymore.
Oh well, with a little work and time I can easily come back around. Just gotta stay consistent. 💪

“Leah!” you shouted, your voice ringing throughout the room.
“Shut up,” Andrea groaned in annoyance, rolling over and turning her back to you.
The phone continued to ring so you threw off the covers and jumped out of bed with a huff. You stomped downstairs, your heavy footsteps reverberating through the the stairs. “Leah!” you clipped again, only to be met with silence. “Mom? Dad?”
You grumbled at having to get up so early in the morning to answer the damn phone as you marched into the kitchen and over to the landline, ripping the receiver from its cradle. “What?” you barked.
“(Y/N)?” Dean’s voice came through the phone.
Your eyes widened and your cheeks flushed at the realization of what you must have sounded like. “Dean?” you asked.
“Uh, hi,” he said almost timidly. “Is...is this a bad time?”
“Oh, uh, no,” you huffed out. “Um, I...I just…” you trailed off, unable to think of a plausible answer. “What do you want?”
“Maybe I should call back later…” Dean said, his voice uncertain.
“No!” you snapped, your words coming out harsher than you’d intended. You closed your eyes and berated yourself before taking a deep breath and plastering on a grin, even though he obviously couldn’t see you. “No,” you repeated, this time softer and adding a light chuckle for good measure. “Tell me what you called about.”
Dean was quiet for a moment before he spoke again. “I just…. Well, I saw there was a band playing at Smitty’s tomorrow night, and I was wondering…. You wanna go?”
You stomach flipped at the thought of seeing him again, and you had to bite the inside of your cheek to keep from giggling. “Uh, yeah. Sure,” you said nonchalantly.
“Okay, awesome,” Dean said, his tone significantly lighter. “It starts at 7:00, but I thought we could grab some tacos from that food truck you were telling me about first. So...5 o’clock a good time to pick you up?”
“Yeah, sounds great!” you said.
“Okay, awesome!” Dean said again. An awkward silence fell between you both as you sought to figure out what else to say. Finally Dean broke the silence, clearing his throat. “Okay, well…. See you tomorrow night.”
“Yep!” you said, holding the receiver to your ear until you’d heard the click of him hanging up on his end.
You stood at the kitchen counter even after you’d put the phone back on the wall. Your stomach was doing somersaults at the thought of getting to see him so soon, and the fact that it was going to be your second date just added nerves to your already nervous state.
You couldn’t help but squeal as you finally rushed out of the kitchen and sprinted up the stairs to your bedroom. You burst through the door, jumping on the bed and essentially tackling Andrea.
“(Y/N)!” she shrieked, scurrying out from under the covers, her puffy eyes wide with alarm. “What the hell?”
“Dean asked me out again!” you exclaimed, getting to your feet and jumping up and down on your bed, the springs of your mattress creaking under your weight.
Andrea rubbed her eyes and yawned before she looked up at you. “Look I’m happy for you and all, and I really wanna hear every juicy detail, but not until I’m awake and have coffee coursing through my veins.”
You giggled as you dropped to the mattress, your chest heaving and cheeks flushed from excitement and exertion. “Let’s go downstairs then! I don’t think I can wait much longer.”
Andrea sighed, but she was smiling as she got out of bed and threw her hair up into a ponytail. “Okay, fine.”
You grinned as you jumped out of bed and grabbed her hand, practically dragging her down the stairs to the kitchen. “Mom made coffee cake this morning,” you said, gesturing to the cake still sitting out on the stovetop.
“Cool,” Andrea said, voice still coated with sleep. You tried not to laugh as Andrea went to the coffee pot, feet dragging before taking the biggest mug in the cabinet and pouring herself a cup of the dark liquid. Your best friend was not a morning person by any means and although you felt bad for waking her the way you had, your excitement and need to tell her was too great.
You took two plates from the cabinet next to the sink, cutting and scooping out two large chunks of the cinnamony goodness. You carried them over to the high top where Andrea was already seated, sipping her coffee. You sat one of the plates in front of her before going to pour yourself a mug before joining your friend.
You ate in silence for a bit until Andrea seemed a little more awake. When she glanced at you, you took that as your cue. With bubbling excitement you relayed everything that happened. By the time you were done talking, your cheeks were rosy.
Andrea’s blue eyes were sparkling as she grinned. “That’s so exciting, (Y/N)!” she exclaimed, pulling you into a quick hug. “Any idea what band it is?”
“No,” you said, shaking your head. “Guess I’ll just have to find out.”
After breakfast, you and Andrea decided to walk downtown and browse some of the shops. You had heard some of the girls around town ooing and aahing over the new clothing boutique that had just opened up and you wanted to check it out.
Two hours later, you and Andrea were strolling down Main Street, arm in arm. You felt Andrea tense as she spied the guy she’d had her eyes set on and even dated for a few months during senior year. Tim was planning on going to Texas State, and even though Andrea had initially thought about trying to get in, too, she finally decided to stay at home and work on her associates degree at the local community college. They had split on good terms, but you knew that didn’t make seeing him any easier for her.
“Let’s go in here,” you said, tugging her inside one of the thrift stores that lined the street. She was reluctant, gazing behind her at Tim before you gently prodded her to follow after you.
You both browsed for awhile before heading out again. “You hungry?” you asked as you stepped out into the sidewalk once more.
“I know I am,” a deep voice answered. You spun around to find Dean, standing not three feet away.
Your stomach flipped and smiled shyly. “Oh, hey, Dean,” you said quietly, brushing a strand of hair behind your ear.
Dean tore his eyes away from you long enough to look at Andrea beside you. “Don’t believe we’ve met,” Dean said.
“Oh, sorry,” you chuckled sheepishly. “This is my best friend, Andrea. And Andrea...this is Dean.”
“Hey, good to meet you,” Dean said with a wide grin, reaching out and shaking her hand.
She smiled in return before turning to you. “Hey, uh, listen. I just remembered I had an errand my mom wanted me to run. I hate to leave, but….” She bit her lip and you almost laughed at the over-exaggerated and innocent look she sent your way. You gave her a silent look letting her know you knew exactly what she was doing before you nodded your head.
“No, it’s okay!” you reassured. “I’ll meet up with you later.”
Andrea agreed before saying goodbye to both you and Dean and walking back towards her house. You turned back to Dean, butterflies filling your stomach when you found him watching you.
“So you still hungry?” he asked, a hopeful look in his eyes.
“I’m starving!” you said with a laugh.
Dean grinned. “Pizza okay?”
“Heck yeah! I love pizza!” you said a little more enthusiastically than you probably should have.
“Awesome,” Dean commented with a wide grin. He jerked his head for you to follow him, surprising you when he reached out and laced his fingers with yours.
A few minutes later you arrived at the pizza parlor down the street. Dean held the door open for you before following you and the waitress to a table by the window.
“So what’re you in the mood for?” Dean asked, scanning the menu. “Cheese, pepperoni, meat lover’s?”
“Actually my go-to is their green olive and banana pepper pizza,” you said with a half-smile.
“What?” Dean asked, his eyes widening. “That sounds disgusting.”
“It’s not!” you laughed. “You order what you want, but when my pizza comes, I’ll prove you wrong.”
Dean sent you a skeptical look just as the waitress came back to take your orders. Once she had given your orders to the cook and brought your drinks, you leaned back in the booth and admired the way the sun filtered through the window, making Dean’s eyes almost look like two jade orbs.
You cleared your throat when you felt your stomach clench in desire. “So,” you said. “Any more...assignments?” you asked, picking up your Pepsi and taking a sip.
“Uh, yeah, a few,” Dean said vaguely, picking up his own drink.
“Oh, that’s good. I guess?” you said with a chuckle.
Dean smiled. “Yeah….”
You could tell Dean was feeling a little uncomfortable with where the conversation was headed, so you decided to change the subject. “So have you or Sam made any friends yet?”
Dean’s shoulders physically relaxed and he grinned. “A few. Especially Sammy. Me...well, I have you.”
You blushed at his words, but found yourself smiling. “I’m glad you have me,” you said. “You know, you can always come hang out at my house if you’re bored. And if you ever wanna tag along with me to see my friends you can, too. We usually hang out at the library once or twice a week.”
“Thanks. I’ll keep that in mind,” Dean said with a soft smirk. “What do you usually do at the library?”
“I don’t know,” you shrugged. “Discuss books we’re currently reading, share poetry we’ve written...talk about boys,” you added with a playfully coy smile.
Dean laughed. “Boys, huh? Anyone I should be worried about?” he asked with a cock of his eyebrow.
It was your turn to laugh. But the next second you sobered as you shook your head. And before you could censor yourself, you spoke. “No, your competition left a long time ago,” you said quietly, sweeping your eyes around the parlor and hoping Dean would go on and change the subject. You should’ve known you’d have no such luck.
Dean frowned, studying you for a moment before responding. “Wh...what’s that supposed to mean?” he asked cautiously.
“Nothing,” you said, shaking your head and staring at your hands folded on the tabletop.
“(Y/N),” Dean said gently, causing you to meet his gaze. “You know you can tell me anything.”
You sighed as you questioned if you really wanted to tell him or not. Finally, your shoulders slumped and you shook your head again. “I...I had this boyfriend - Caleb. We met in middle school and dated from sophomore to just the beginning of senior year. I...well, I fell in love with him,” you said, fighting back the tears that still rose up when you thought about it. “But he...he didn’t, I guess. I caught him in a...compromising position under the bleachers with the most popular girl in school - one of the cheerleaders. We broke up after that.”
Dean’s eyes were serious as he listened intently as you finished up your story. “I’m so sorry, (Y/N),” he said softly. He reached across the table, taking your hand in his and rubbing his thumb over your knuckles. “It was his loss. He was a dumbass that couldn’t see what was in front of him. He didn’t deserve you…. But that just means I get the treasure he threw away.”
A tear slipped down your cheek as you stared into his sincere and tender gaze. You’d never had someone look at you or talk to you the way Dean was. And you couldn’t help but wonder what it all meant.

The rest of the day flew by and before you knew it Friday evening rolled around. You fixed your oversized t-shirt, tucking the front into your mom jeans before throwing your hair up into a ponytail and adding a scrunchy to your wrist. You pulled on a pair of your Converse and then you were ready to go.
It was a quarter to 5:00; Dean would be there any minute. You hurried downstairs, finding Leah lounging on the couch, bubble gum popping in her mouth. “Hey, sis,” she greeted lazily, looking up at you, her eyes sweeping over your outfit. “Where’re you going?” she asked.
“To a concert,” you said, picking up your change purse from the coffee table.
“Alone?” she asked incredulously.
“No…” you said. “With Dean.”
Leah’s expression grew hard at the mention of you and Dean going out, but nevertheless she sent you a tight-lipped smile. “Have fun,” she said, sounding less than happy for you.
“Oh, we will,” you said, sending her your best shit eating grin.
Just then the doorbell rang and you hurried to the door, flinging it open to find Dean standing on the other side. His eyes lit up when he saw you and he grinned widely as he stepped inside. “Hey, sweetheart,” he said, surprising you once again by wrapping his arm around your waist and placing a soft kiss to your cheek.
“Hey, Deano,” Leah purred, smirking and twirling a piece of her hair around her finger and popping another bubble.
“Oh, hey,” Dean said, his eyes subconsciously falling to where the tops of her breasts peeked out from the neckline of her shirt.
Your heart sank at his reaction and you found yourself placing your hand on his shoulder possessively. Dean tore his gaze away from Leah, glancing down at you, his eyes softening and his arm around your waist tightening a bit. “Well, see ya,” Dean said to Leah with a thin-lipped smile. “Ready, sweetheart?” he asked you.
You nodded before letting him lead you out the door. You glanced behind you, seeing Leah’s gaze sweep over him, eyes stopping at his backside and biting her lip. Nausea twisted your stomach and you couldn’t help but wonder if your days as the girl who had caught Dean’s eye were numbered.

“So who’s playing?” you asked as you settled back into Baby’s front seat. You and Dean had just gotten done eating at the food truck. Dean had loved the place, claiming it had the best tacos he’d ever eaten. You had just chuckled, your heart filling with contentment as you watched him devour his food with fervor.
“I’m not sure actually,” Dean said with a shrug of his shoulders. “Some garage band I think.”
“Oh, okay,” you said with a slight nod. You turned to look out the window, the events from earlier still weighing heavily on your mind.
You jumped when you felt Dean’s hand touch yours, linking your fingers together and holding your hand in his lap. “Hey, you okay, sweetheart?” he asked, taking his eyes off the road long enough to look over at you.
You sent him a thin-lipped smile and nodded. “Yeah,” you said vaguely.
“Did...did I do or say something wrong?” Dean asked sincerely.
Your heart seized up at his concern and you squeezed his hand as you shook your head. “No, no you didn’t. I promise,” you said. “It’s just me.”
Dean’s face was serious as he studied you carefully as if trying to solve the mysteries of the universe. “Okay,” he finally said, although he sounded less than convinced. “It’s really nice being able to do this - going out on dates and everything. And I’m really glad I get to do it with you…. You know that, right?”
You smiled, bringing his hand to your lips and pressing a soft kiss to his knuckles. “I know. And I’m really happy I get to do it with you, too.”
You and Dean pulled up in front of the small venue, Dean coming around and opening your door. You smiled your thanks before alighting. He closed the door behind you before taking your hand and led you up to the door.
The place was already bustling with activity and the band was starting to set up. Dean led you over to a table situated in a secluded corner, pulling out your seat for you before settling down beside you.
“I’ve never been here before,” you commented, looking around at the neon lights, old 70’s records lining the walls, and jukebox sitting on the other side of the building.
“Really?” Dean asked, surprised.
“Nope, never,” you said with a shake of your head.
“I thought you grew up here,” Dean said.
“I did,” you said with a soft chuckle. “But that doesn’t mean I’ve been to every single place. My parents never liked this place much anyway. Always said it was ‘shady’.”
“Fair enough,” Dean said good-naturedly, glancing around.
After awhile, Dean ordered both of you a couple of sodas and some appetizers. You had just started to dig into the nachos when the band began playing. It wasn’t exactly what you had expected from a garage band, and you found yourself actually enjoying the music.
Dean scooted in closer to you, his arm coming to rest on the back of your chair. His action surprised you, but you’d be lying if you said you didn’t like it, and you found yourself leaning into him a little more, the inside of his shoulder pressing into yours.
“You enjoying it?” Dean asked, his warm breath fanning across your ear and sending shivers running down your spine.
You nodded, turning to look at him, startled to find his face mere inches from your own. You looked at one another carefully before his gaze broke away from yours, his eyes searching your face before darting to your lips.
Your heartbeat picked up as the tension grew thicker, the sounds of the music fading into the background. Dean leaned forward, his eyes flashing back and forth between yours and your lips. He parted his full lips slightly, his breath rushing across your mouth. You closed your eyes, waiting for the press of his lips against your own.
Hand clapping suddenly echoed throughout the building and you and Dean both jerked away. The band had just finished their final song, but you had both been so wrapped up in one another neither of you had kept track.
Your face was hot, Dean’s own cheeks flushed as you sat back. Dean removed his arm from around your chair and cleared his throat awkwardly. After a few minutes, you and Dean got up, settling the bill and making your way back to the Impala.
The ride back to your house was silent, the obvious sexual tension from earlier still permeating the air. You dared a glance over at Dean, his eyes focused on the road, one hand gripped tightly around the steering wheel, the other clasped in his lap.
You swallowed and looked out the window, but the next second you gasped as Dean suddenly veered to the right onto a side road, the pavement soon transitioning into dirt.
“Where are we going?” you asked nervously, looking back to Dean. He met your gaze for a moment before looking back to the road, not answering your question.
You settled back into your seat, a mixture of curiosity and nerves filling your stomach. A few moments later Dean pulled off the road before stopping at the edge of a field.
“What are we doing here?” you asked, looking around at the thick grass blanketed in darkness.
“You’ll see,” Dean smirked, sending you a wink before climbing out and opening your door. He took your hand before leading you to the front of the vehicle, leaning back against Baby’s hood.
You looked up at the star-speckled sky, the tiny balls of light twinkling like a million diamonds. “It’s beautiful,” you breathed.
“Yeah. It is,” Dean murmured beside you. You turned your head, finding him staring at you. Your stomach flipped and your breath hitched as he moved closer, his arm coming around you securely.
He raised his hand to your face, cupping your cheek in his rough and calloused palm. “I’m not very good with words,” he whispered. “But I’d like to show you...how I feel. If you’ll let me.”
You paused, your eyes darting between his. You nodded slightly, licking your lips nervously. Something shifted in his eyes then, a look you couldn’t quite place radiating from their mossy depths. His arm tightened around your waist and your heart skipped a beat as he slowly leaned towards you.
