you think Kaz Brekker's most iconic kill is the guy he threw overboard because he nearly killed Inej
I think Kaz Brekker's most iconic kill is the law clerk he dropped off a lighthouse because he was blackmailing a sex worker
we are not the same

Disclaimer: this is 3am rambling. Whether or not this rant ends up being a cohesive thought is between me and God. Also, I'll be switching around what pronouns I use for Shi Qingxuan and He Xuan every paragraph
"Shi Qingxuan should've chosen He Xuan! Shi Qingxuan would never chose anyone other than his brother-" man, if choosing He Xuan was one of the options he was given, I honestly do think Shi Qingxuan would've taken it.
Cuz here's the thing: Shi Qingxuan was thoroughly sick of their brothers bs. They wanted to go their own way, they wanted to break out of the house, they wanted to handle their demons on their own, they wanted to choose their own gender expression without getting told to "put that thing away", they disagreed with their brothers actions and what he did to turn them into a god... they wanted to get away from their brother, but they never got the chance to unpack or deal with any of that because both of their lives were constantly being put in danger (so they were kinda distracted).
And I don't even know where to start with how Shi Wudu had been breaking down their self esteem, getting them to second guess all their wants/desires/choices, and pulling the "big brother knows best" card on them for god knows how long. I know it came from a place of love, but it still had to have done something to Shi Qingxuan's brain chemistry
Shi Qingxuan options were never "He Xuan or her Brother," it was "chose to abandon your luck for both your lives, or chose yourself and become a murderer" so ya, of course she's gonna go with the first option because she's not a terrible person. Shi Qingxuan probably would’ve chosen He Xuan (who was her best friend, who'd been going along with her antics for centuries, who remembered which resturant she wanted to go to even after the breakup), but that wasn't a card they put in her hands, and even if it was, its not a real card if she had to kill her brother to get it. At that point, giving up revenge and finding love again wasn't an option He Xuan had even considered yet, and it'd be unreasonable to suggest Shi Qingxuan should've come up with a secret third option off the top of her head given she only knew the full story for like what? A minute before she was forced to make a choice? And even though she tried choosing the option that would hurt the least amount of people, Shi Wudu could not for the life of him respect her choices. Kinda makes me think Shi Qingxuan never really was given any choices to make in the first place 😒
Anyways, I'm choosing to believe at some point, He Xuan realizes this, spends the rest of her life trying to make amends, they get some time being a ghost couple together, and then they eventually find peace and disappear into the afterlife

now that the gang’s learned a little more about who caleb was and what he looks like i wonder how long it’s going to take for hunter to realize that not only does he look like caleb now, but he’s making the same choices caleb did. he has brown eyes and longer hair like caleb. he’s interested in wild magic like him. he has at least one surrogate sibling (luz), maybe two (gus), that he wants to take care of like caleb took care of phillip. depending on what his deal with willow is he may have even fallen in love with a witch like caleb did. he doesn’t know about how caleb might have been a woodcarver like hunter himself wants to be, and he probably doesn’t know the specifics of flapjack’s relationship with caleb. but with flapjack’s soul bouncing around in hunter’s mindscape now (?) and what gus saw of phillip’s life, hunter might find out about it in the next two specials.
and like. hunter’s entire arc is about individualism. he’s been told what he’s supposed to be his entire life and he wants to decide what he wants to do for himself. idk what he’ll think of caleb after hearing his story but whether he thinks caleb is still bad or not hunter isn’t going to want to live his life exactly like caleb does. and if he considers his appearance and life choices, i feel like it would horrify him for a bit to realize he’s been unconsciously mimicking caleb all along. especially if you add in a few more scenes of belos referring to hunter as caleb in his inevitable confrontation with the main characters.
so i wonder if this revelation is going to cause a breakdown in hunter’s relationships, hobbies, etc. like we already saw him do a 3 am mental breakdown haircut because he didn’t want to look like caleb. he loves luz, gus, and willow with all his heart ofc but it would be interesting if we see him interact with them and recoil, even subconsciously, because he thinks this is exactly how caleb interacted with people in his life, and good or bad, hunter wants to reject everything that had to do with caleb.
ofc the satisfying conclusion to this arc would be for hunter to recognize that although his life choices parallel caleb’s on a surface level, they are still his choices and his choices alone. he can’t let what caleb would have done control his life, and that includes rejecting things that caleb did specifically because caleb did them. i’m not sure if i actually want them to do it bc it seems like it would take up a lot of screentime and they still need to tie up the arcs of other characters but it would be cool to see themes of it

I’m rewatching the consent scene because I love it so much, it’s rare to see such a dedicated and clear consent scene: first checking whether Team’s drunk, whether he’s even capable of consenting and answering questions, and then asking further questions - I truly love to see it. But the more I watch, I start to feel like it also speaks to some insight about Win.
Was it sexy? Of course it was, there’s nothing sexier than consent, making sure all parties are aware and present in the moment, and confirming desire and how you want to express it. Was it necessary? Yes, it always is. But looking further unnecessarily so it also really got me thinking about the scene earlier between Win and Dean.
We saw Win say he’s never had anything that was truly his, it was either given to him (from his older brother) or he had to give it away (to his younger brother). He’s never had anything to care about before. He’s never really had control over those things either, it’s just the assumed “natural” middle child role. He learnt that nothing was truly his and nothing could stay with him forever so he just lets those things happen until everything become unimportant, nothing was interesting enough to care about because it wouldn’t stay his.
And then we see him facing something (both the situation and person) he’s finally interested in, something he wants for himself (he’s never had before). He’s begun to let something become important to him whether he realises or not. Something - a situation and a person - that requires care.
So first he makes sure they both have choice and control in the situation, that they’re both aware of what’s happening and with who, and capable of deciding things. Nothing is taken as a given or assumed, he needs consent.
Second, he makes sure that this situation is his, that this moment with Team belongs to him. He makes sure that he’s not receiving the feelings, passion (maybe body and heart even) that belong to someone else (an existing partner/SO). He makes sure he’s not giving away the meaning of it (if Team was drunk/not aware of the situation or who he’s with). He’s not giving away the power of the moment over to alcohol or the memory of it over to a drunken mistake because this is something and someone that’s important. This moment is theirs, together. A moment that can be his. Maybe something and someone that could finally stay with him.

the supreme court has officially overturned roe v. wade.
let it be known that this is the direct fault of the fundamentalist, evangelical authoritarian christian right. this is the fault of donald trump packing the court with conservative justices. this is the fault of the republican party and conservatism.
republicans do not care about you. they do not care about civil rights. they will chip away at every progressive accomplishment american society has fought for, simply because they hold positions of power from brainwashing millions into thinking that the GOP has your interests at heart. they do not. they never have. conservatism rots the brain.
remember, it can be because of the republican party that america is labeled backsliding democracy.
civil rights are in direct conflict to what the GOP wants, and they will strip them from you because they can. make no mistake, this is not fear-mongering— this is the demonstrably provable fact of our current world.
vote republicans out.
vote blue.
keep fighting.

yesterday i saw a map where it showed that almost everywhere the pp had won which perpetuates that they should be ruling and that spain is conservative and whatnot, but that map was influenced by the US electoral system where a state is either red or blue and it has no validation following spain's electoral system. this is the real map we should be focusing on (found here)
like in the canary islands both provinces have 3 pp seats and 3 psoe seats. but one is blue and the other is red for some reason. in badajoz the right won, but still, it's red. in pontevedra the left won, but it's blue. even places like madrid where everyone was saying yesterday that they fucked up the psoe winning, the right only won by two seats. honestly, looking at the overall map, things are more 50-50 than the other map wanted to show.

I'm gonna shout into the internet void and soapbox here for a minute:
Anyone who says the majority of doctors are altruistic and that the way the current medical system for both physical and mental health care is set up is beneficial for the actual patients or the staff employed in the system is either blinded by propaganda or lying out of their ass to get something.
Source: a biochemistry student trying to graduate this summer who's seen enough biology and biochem classmates who have med school aspirations to know better than any of that.

also I personally felt like having Sememmon hit the bricks on his own in that 5e timeline for like. Fzoul reasons was a much weaker choice for the writing than him having the drive and strength to break away from Manshoon because he's formed a human connection that's not with his fucked up mentor/boss... more interesting to me personally

if a 1% regret rate for transition is so bad...
and any population is about 1-3% trans...
wouldn't that make the potential regret rate of NOT giving kids puberty blockers... three times worse than giving them puberty blockers?
