i don’t know which autistic/adhd/any kind of neurodivergent person needs to hear this but: make a “just in case” bag
this is a pic of mine. it contains:
loop earplugs on the zipper
prescription glasses with a clip on sunglasses attachment
my public transport discount card
a pen
a glasses cloth + wet glasses wipes (which can also be used to clean my hands if needed!
wireless earbuds in case my headphones give out
tips for my apple pencil + silicon covers if i need a different texture/the sound is too loud
a sanitary pad (not for me, as i had a hysterectomy, but i like carrying one around for my menstruating friends)
a pouch with hair ties for when my hair bothers me
autism lanyard (not pictured, as i put it in after i took it)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
will i use these every day? not necessarily. but it’s good to have these all in one place in a little pouch so it’s easy to throw into my bag as i use different ones for different occasions. that way i don’t have to think about all these things individually.
it might seem like common sense for some people, but i didn’t think of this until recently. so i wanted to share this in case it could be handy for other people. some more ideas for what to put in your bag under the break. you can make this as big or as small as you like so some ideas may seem a bit big
powerbank + cables (preferably a powerbank that has a LOT of charge)
snacks (do keep an eye on the expiration date)
painkillers/emergency meds (same thing about the expiration date)
sewing kit
deodorant/perfume
mini fan
hand warmers
scissors/nail clippers (for when tags/threads/your nails are bothering you)
tweezers
lucky charm (i have my lucky cat keychain. it just calms me to have)
plushie/stress ball/fidget toy
mints/a mini toothbrush and toothpaste
extra pair of underwear (for if you suddenly need to stay somewhere overnight or if an accident happens)
comb
band-aids + disinfectant
hand cream/soothing cream
soap/soap leaves
similarly, some mini shampoo or mini body wash (again for if you suddenly need to stay the night. there’s probably already some wherever you’re staying but again. this is a just in case bag)
q-tips
chapstick
makeup remover wipes
razors
hand sanitizer/general sanitizer
wet wipes/tissues
foldable bag
ruler/tape measure
this is a lot but keep in mind, these are just ideas. you don’t have to use everything, just pick out which things you think would be handy for you and make your bag accordingly. do feel free to add onto the list if you have any other ideas.

Looking for book suggestions and resources for autistic adults, ESPECIALLY about what to do if diagnosed as an adult (I'm also nonbinary and afab if that helps). I'm overwhelmed by everything out there and it's hard to sort through what's good solid information, what's outdated, and what to stay away from (I've already been told to avoid Autism Speaks).
I've only had my official diagnosis two days. It's kind of wild to learn that things I attributed to my ADHD, PTSD, generalized anxiety, and depression were just... autism. Like, learning about autistic burnout and meltdown is making a lot of things make more sense. I want to learn more about autism so much (and maybe learn some new coping techniques?), but I keep hitting wall after wall of bad information and ableism. I know I'm probably just screaming into the void and hoping the void answers back, but I gotta try.

Hello, I found out this month that I have autism and adhd, since my therapist doesn't really explain autism to me and I heard that autism speak isnt a good source I am hoping to find people with either autism or autism and adhd that might explain it or just to connect.
Also that's the reason im so incapable of drawing currently since im so confused and scared since I never really even considered it, I mean I always tought I was weird, an alien.

hey does anyone with ADHD/autism/anxiety/executive dysfunction/whatever have any practical, useful advice for cleaning your room?
My shit is a huge fucking mess right now and I've been wanting to clean it for AGES but every fucking time I look at it I get immediately overwhelmed and avoid doing it. I haven't cleaned my room in over a year and it is such a huge fucking mess.
PLEASE I am begging people who have been in this sort of situation before to give any advice or tutorials they got. I am literally being pushed off the bed with how much crap is on here.

Here are the tasks I have in mind for Olly to learn. Only pay attention to the ones I highlighted. I found this list of tasks, and highlighted what would benefit us.
Again, here is our GoFundMe to help with the cost of training Olly.
$390/20k

hi autism tumblr i have a question erm ermm 🙇🙇
i saw this on twt recently and it made me wonder ?? i don't think i get the difference between being selective mutism & going nonverbal, and what constitutes as either
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i don't really use either words in relation to myself, but i do have a tendency to really struggle using my vocal cords at all when i'm experiencing sensory overload, but i still can force myself to with enough effort — and i still struggle with it after i calm down
but there are other times where i just don't want to talk and would prefer making gestures, but i can still make other sounds with my vocal cords to express emotion. talking in these states would stress me out and warrant a lot of mental preparation for minimal words, but this isn't because i'm already stressed or anything. if anything it usually happens when i'm really excited. but i can still force myself to have full conversations, and typically do for the sake of more convenient interactions (espec with neurotypicals)
but in the past i've seen both selective muting and going nonverbal as states where you're like ;; physically unable to speak for a time, or ever which is why i've never described myself with either word ???
also again i just feel like i don't fully get the difference
thank uuu

Sooo, I took an autism test
Tumblr media
I've always been pretty sure that I'm not autistic, but honestly it does make a lot of sense. This test didn't say I definitively was autistic, but I think the fact that I'm neither aggressive nor depressed, things that aren't inherent to autism, that swung the rest of the data. Does anyone know of a better test? I'm trying to empirically record as much data as possible before I draw any conclusions as to weather or not I am autistic

not byler related but we're (almsot) all neurodivergent/autistic do i thought i could ask this here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i'm gonna make an autism pin, so i wondered which symbol i should take. i'm pretty sure i'm gonna take the infinity one, since the puzzle one seems to refer more to the need to fit in, to being a mistery that has to be solved, etc. but i wanted to know what y'all think about this 👍

I'm soooo excited because I recently made a Dan Stevens Korvo voice in ElevenLabs and it sounds so good!! 💙
I'm currently working on a couple of comfort audios, one where he comforts you when you're sad, another one in which he guides you through the process of cleaning your room, and lastly one to keep you calm while you plan out your school assignments.
These comfort audio videos will be specifically tailored to the Neurodivergent community, specifically this with ADHD, Autism, or a combination of both. This means he will constantly reassure you that you should not feel ashamed of yourself or compare yourself to those who don't share the same struggles that you!
Here's a little snippet so you can get a feel for what he sounds like! It's been a few days since I've made this, and have since then been practicing on making more accurate audio. So it wasn't until yesterday that I realized this audio is a little off...
There are times in which you can't hear Korvo's accent. I've been messing around with his voice setting and am seeing good results! His accent is much more prominent now! And I even made two versions of him! One version that speaks in his normal, pompous and cranky tone, while the other is soft and soothing based on a few clips where he sounded that way.
The soft version will be used for most of these audios, as they are meant to be comforting!
I hope you all enjoy being comforted and taken care of by Korvo as much as I did!💙😊

Reminder: don't feel too bad about self diagnosing as autistic, you arent taking resources away because we get jack shit anyway, and when we do get it, self diagnosed people won't because you need a professional diagnosis to get em.
Thats all for now, have a blessed day!

Are there any options for getting the cost of learning ASL subsidized as an autistic person? I experience verbal shutdown (episodes where I can't talk) and I'd really like to learn ASL to help deal with those episodes, but learning through an open ended model like youtube videos really doesn't work for me.
It can be (and I'd actually prefer if it was) some type of online course, but I need it in one or several courses all together (like a curriculum of some kind where you learn it in some specific order), and I don't have income to pay for that : /

Autism Tip!!!
Or rather a tip if you can't deal with crowds and such tip:
I went to a club the other night and I took my Eevee bag.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And she was so helpful, she was a fidget toy, a friend, a distraction, and most people looked at her and not me which is a good thing to me.
So:
Emotional support plushee
I might be the last person to realise this and feel like I'm going a lil feral but she was so helpful I stayed the whole night, that never happens for me.
Now, I'm a good scientist and I'm aware that it could be a fluke so I am going to Supa soon and I'm taking her (my costume is Nurse Joy so she will Fit) and I will let yall know how she goes in a few more settings.
