I watched Infinity War today, sometimes I question why I liked it so much because half the things they do pisses me off. Especially Quill he pisses me off so much.

And STEVE, don’t even get me started on him. “We don’t trade lives,” JUST A MOVIE A GO YOU WERE PREACHING THAT WE NEED ACCEPT THAT IN YOUR LINE OF WORK YOU CAN’T SAVE EVERYONE. And than he goes ahead sacrifices a bunch of people (POCs) to save a ROBOT! Who mind you could be made again.

But I guess that only applies to faceless people. Not to the people you know personally and especially not if Wanda loves that person. I hate his hypocritical ass so much.

Spoilers for GoTG3 under the cut.

The way Gunn treated Peter's alcoholism makes Thor's treatment in EG so much worse.

I always hated the jabs and the jokes and the blatant dismissal of his pain and grief and PTSD, but seeing Nebula carrying Peter, Drax almost whispering "Did it happen again?" when he sees Peter completely wasted, the sad music playing in the background, Mantis asking Nebula incessantly about Peter's state... that's how friends handle this. Even though they had lost Gamora as well and they had been dusted too, it's not a competition, it's not a moment to mock him. They show their support and their love for him, and the very moment his friends (his family) are in danger he steps up almost immediately.

Thor is mocked constantly by the same people who should have shown him compassion. People who had known him for years, who had fought by his side and knew him well, so-called "friends" who knew he had just lost his home planet, his entire family, his best friend... and yet they made him the butt of every joke?

The Russos have so much to learn from Gunn.

I love how in Thor4 it's clearly shown that Thor is with the Guardians for a very long time - enough to get back in shape, go on multiple galaxy-spanning adventures, and even form drinking routines with Quill but James Gunn says he was with them for only 2 weeks. It's quite literally not possible but of course Gunn wouldn't want his beloved characters to spend any time with the bumbling buffoon bully.

I hope the same is done to the rando kid going forward. Say Thor took care of her for 2 weeks and then she left to be on her own. Or better yet, do what Feminist Waititi did to Jane - 'respectfully' discard her with a throwaway line.

So I finally got my friend to watch Thor Love and Thunder and in short; she essentially agreed with me. A fair few good scenes that were shoved together to make a really bad film. But while we were talking, I mentioned how much I am still bitter that they built up the ending where Thor went off with the Guardians only to have them almost immediately split at the beginning of Thor.

And to make things worse, while we were talking, we realized how perfectly the Guardians could have fit into Love and Thunder:

You could have had Peter (son of Ego, a god-like entity) also be under threat of Gorr or if not then have a funny scene where he thinks he is until he meets Zeus and the other Gods and they basically make fun of the idea.

You could have had Drax showing his fatherly side trying to help save the Asgardian kids.

A lot of Korg's lines could have easily been said by Mantis or Drax.

You could have had a teenage Groot get caught up and kidnapped with the kids.

In general, a lot of their arcs in this film could have been setting up some of the stuff in GOTG3 (Drax being a dad, Rocket understanding Thor's grief at losing everyone, etc,)

I just really wanted to see an actual film of these guys all working together. See their characters bounce off each other in more casual settings (you know, like how they sort of did with that opening montage).

And I think worse of all, if they cut Jane and Valkyrie's roles from the film, we could have had an amazing end credit scene. Just picture; you see a battle. There's lightning so we assume it's just Thor. Then we see Mjolnir doing that breaking apart move and it takes down half a dozen enemies, then it comes back together only we pan out and instead of Thor, we see Mighty Thor. That would have been so cool to see. Then we could have done her character right because if there's anything I'm more bitter of than not giving me a Thor/Guardians film, it's how they messed up so much of Mighty Thor.

Each day, 4 polls will be posted pitting two different ships together (for a total of 8 ships per day). You are free to vote in as many or as few of these polls as you’d like.

This blog is explicitly pro-ship and anti-censorship, and obviously features dark themes. If this is a point of discomfort for you, you are free to block this blog, I don’t bite. Hate towards anyone (and anything unreasonably rude about ships or characters) will not be published and users that send it will be blocked. ❗️Avengers Mission Ideas for you to use to your hearts content❗️

My all time favorite, an absolute classic in my opinion is the Deep Cover Mission! But my specific favorite is having to play house in deep cover! there’s so many different combinations, Sam being the Dad, Natasha being so short that Fury thinks she can pass as a child, it can just be so funny. Like in my DR, The Young Avengers have this mission (Kamala, Kate Bishop, Yelena, RiRi Williams, Wasp, America. Theres more but they’re added later) and, Kate and Kamala had been fighting for months over who’s team leader. So they’re naturally arguing over who’s gonna be the dad 😭 (it escalates to the point they’re trying to decide who looks better in a tie)

POWER SWAP!! Ok technically it’s not a mission but there are so many marvel comics villains it’s had to have happened ONCE. It could happen before or during a battle, some crazy guy swaps your powers around! Same thing with Body Swap which is basically the same thing. I just think it’d be funny if Tony swapped with Natasha (but Natasha had Thor’s body or something) And you’d all have to stop fumbling over yourselves and train to master your powers!!

also for your Marvel DR- GIVE YOURSELF YOUR OWN TEAM OF VILLAINS!! ITS ICONIC!! Spider-Man and the Sinister Six… uh… nobody else but like Spider-Man is iconic

on this note: you have your own Vigilante/Anti-Hero Ally! That is if you aren’t a vigilante already.

this one’s a lot more specific but there’s this Fourth Wall Breaking Villain (that I initially saw in X-Men 97) called Mojo! (Look him up his design is… something) and he’s obsessed with TV and ratings. Basically he sends you all through a bunch of different show and Movie Genres, trying to get you all to fight eachother or kill monsters! (And drama, that’s good for ratings, he’ll try to get under your skin) until you all, of course, eventually defeat him! If any of u are confused the X-men 90’s show episode he’s in is: Season 2 episode 11, MojoVision

another one stolen from the X-Men show: you and the avengers (also these apply to any team, I’ll add some space-y ones for the uhh Guardians shifters and more neighborhood ones too!) You all decide to go on a nice, normal vacation! Fun in the sun or a nice winter cabin! Even better, everyone is so friendly!… that would be it if they weren’t trying to kill you, a battle ensues, you reign victorious but uh- those swimsuits or skis sure did go to a waste :[

another semi deep cover but I listened to “Sway” by uh Micheal Buble I think and “Masquerade” by siouxxe sixxta. You’re like the key to the mission, playing as a preformor of some kind, you’re all at a party amongst criminals, and it’s all your cue. (Points if you keep singing or whatever while fighting like dance fight!!!)

A spacey one!!! You have to make a pitstop at a notoriously violent planet, known for its scary inhabitants. And… they’re literally the cutest guys ever. Like… those guys from Star Wars, The Ewoks!!! But they’re being hurt/hunted by a big scary alien thing so you defeat that and also earn a new ally!!

my personal favorite (I could write like 2 pages of headcanons off of this) as a team building exorcise/community support booster, you all have to babysit a class of kids for the day!! I hav SO MANY IDEAS FOR THIS. Like Peter Parker just getting trampled and bullied by a bunch of 6 year olds, Natasha would definitely get along with all the kids, if the Guardians were there… Drax would be so good with them like I’d Cry. Quill would get kicked in the balls (it’s inevitable) Gamora would be disgusted at the tiny things at first but warm up to a kid that reminds her of herself, Groot would be a playground and Rocket WILL be put into a dress. I feel like Thor would do something really dangerous for “fun” 😭 (IM A HUNDRED PERCENT WRITING A FIC ON THIS)

another idea!! A Carmen Sandiego type mission! Stealing from a museum and returning the artifacts back to their cultures! And just interfering heists and going against the government sometimes.

some Villains I think would be cool to fight: Modok, Big Wheel, MasterMind, Rat King and Beyonder (Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur), Morlun, she’s not a villain but imagine getting your ass beat by the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl… even avengers have to be humbled sometimes.

A Halloween Special! With everyone dressed up, it’s hard to tell who’s the villain! But when a big crime goes down, it’s Trick or Beat (that wasn’t funny I’m sorry 😞)

Some Quickfire ideas: You all get turned into Animals! You get sent to the ✨future✨ (or the past) and make allies and have to find your way back. Having to be a bodyguard for a celebrity. Fighting a villain who can clone themselves. Getting over your fear in a mission (fighting clowns or something like that).

ok ok… Istg I’ll stop with the deep cover missions BUT two more: You and your Comfort Character getting set up together and having to pretend to be a couple for a mission. (Bet it was Maria Hill who set you two up I love her sm)

Going deep cover into a cult, a few of you. And the weakest link starts falling for the cult’s tactics 😭😭 (Plot taken straight from MLP season 5 but I kinda love it tbh) I feel like uhh Peter or Kate bishop would be like “I dunno guys, it’s so sweet and everyone is sooo sweet!” @oliver-shifts @shiftingwithhale @florashifting @achilleslefttoe @romanoffshifting

I have so many more like character specific ones!! One I forgot was a Scooby-Doo type mystery on a boat with Bucky and Sam, they both get super scared and paranoid abt the local legends of a ghost pirate or lighthouse ghost, something like that, but you’re all heroes and have to brave thru it.

here’s the deal

I genuinely cannot think of MCU Peter Quill without being like “this man is the most innocent Terran (at least from the US but - possibly everywhere?) left in the galaxy”

like he doesn’t know about social media, the trump presidency, student loans, school shootings, anti-vaxxers, anti-maskers, american imperialism, medical debt, or incels

if you told MCU Peter Quill “oh yeah nazis are back” he’d be like “ah yes, terrans must've cracked the code on time travel since i've been gone”

he thinks "the climate crisis" refers to the amount of ozone-depleting substances in the atmosphere and he's like "didn't we fix that in '86?"

he thinks that if he’d stayed on earth he’d have a house in the burbs with a white picket fence and you have to be like “no bby I’m so sorry the housing market tho”

of course he's seen some shit, he gets depressed from time to time, has experienced tragedy and loss, etc (not me writing an essay about how that report card in his backpack damns every teacher he had in the year his mother was dying and has become a cornerstone of how he views himself) but like ultimately, he is still SO hopeful, SO optimistic. he would be incapable of understanding y/n's constant repetition of "my retirement plan is walking into the ocean"

I thought an anti shipper was someone who opposed canonical ships and a pro shipper was someone in support of them and that’s why they fight. Imagine my shock when I realised that an anti shipper is not someone who ships something out of canon such as IronStrange or that a pro shipper is not someone who ships things like Peter Quill/Gamora. I think my perception was cooler.

Basically boil it down in most common sense manner

Pro shipping is basically- ship and let ship no matter how problematic because it’s all revolves around fictional characters. It’s okay you don’t like it just block/blacklist like normal person should

Anti shipping- I hate this ship for many reasons therefore EVERYONE should not like it. If you do die or provide valid reason ( but tbh you shouldn’t do that’s because it’s not healthy) also everything should be squeaky clean and censored

The prompt you got about justice for Peter perfectly illustrates exactly what's wrong with vol 3. The movie focuses on abuse victims getting healing, closure and set on a new path they deserve except Gamora who it blissfully ignores is one of the biggest victims of all.

She's not given multiple scenes to explore how she feels about a family she was robbed of. She's not given any scenes about what it was like to be 9 years in the future, find out her abuser murdered her and that she would have to build a new life while lots of other people know her as a guardian never got to be. Her own struggles are absent in vol 3 and that echoes through the fandom/audience.

You mentioned some people think this is feminist because she doesn't end up with Peter and that's really sad. Being single doesn't equal automatic feminist win and if people's feminism isn't intersectional or taking context into consideration they're doing it wrong. Gamora being loved, supported and fought for by Peter and the rest of the guardians in the other movies was not anti feminism. Especially with her being played by a woc. It's more obvious when you see people absolutely adoring how all of vol 3 is about Rocket getting loved, supported and saved by everyone.

Being sidelined, kept away from regaining her superhero team, having no arc of her own and miniscule representation on merch is also not feminism. More women, more poc, more diverse heroes, more women included on merch etc are all things fandoms have said they want and vol 3 said bye bye bye to a lot of that with Gamora. It's as if more people are happy she's not with Peter due to troubling concepts of what makes a strong female character than angry she was murdered. That's the exact opposite of feminism.

I'm sorry if this reads as ranty. I don't mean for it to. It's just getting harder to be at peace with this being the end of the road for Gamora. I don't think she was a perfect character but I do believe she was one of the best they had in the mcu before her murder. I am still trying to grasp what it means that they wanted to murder the first woc lead character we had so her abuser could advance and what it means that nothing about vol 3 portrayed this as something heinous we should all be upset about it.

This does read as ranty and this is the perfect place for that as I am consistently ranting about how Gamora was ultimately treated.

Gamora's very presence ruins everything Vol 3 aims for. The message of escaping your abuser and living your own life, becoming your whole self, falls hilariously flat when she's included. You cannot try to have that message alongside fridging a woman to make her abuser more sympathetic.

Add in how this movie even brought up Thanos's abuse-- it's treated as a punchline for the most part. The only time it isn't a joke (like with the eye scene between Nebula, Gamora & Peter) is when Nebula says "it's worse than what Thanos did to me" after finding out what happened to Rocket. That line drives me crazy; abuse isn't something that can be measured, as a basic thing, and if Gunn really wanted to try that... tell me which one of these characters is 70% cybernetics.

Gamora's such a non-entity in this film. Of course she gets to be mad at Quill-- but she doesn't get to speak to the others Guardians, doesn't get her new relationship with Nebula fleshed out, gets a single throwaway line about her alternative self having escaped Thanos. Does she know the details of how she died? Does she know she sacrificed everything for Nebula? Does she know she begged Peter to kill her?

We have no answers. Fuck, it's barely acknowledged that she knows Thanos murdered her.

I get that Gamora is green, but people really don't seem to get that she's played by Zoe Saldana, a woman of color, and how that does impact things. WOC get held up to very different standards and while there is obviously overlap in harmful tropes, it's insane to pretend that there aren't different ones applied to women of color. Acting like Gamora being robbed of a love interest that brought her true joy is feminist isn't a girlboss move; it's fulfilling a trope that women of color don't "need" a love interest.

What happened to Gamora was just sickening and so was the fandom response. There are a million think pieces on why what happened to Natasha was wrong; there isn't even a quarter of that for Gamora, when hers was, objectively, worse. I despise what happened to Natasha but god, at least it wasn't done to uplift her abuser.

I think it's also very telling how these characters have been treated post-mortem; Natasha received a solo movie & was memorialized in Hawkeye. Gamora... gets everything that mattered to her stripped away like it's nothing, her most important relationship (with Nebula) goes stagnant, and her horrific murder is brought up as a silly little joke.

Yeah, Gamora's treatment is rooted in a lot of sexism, but also a lot of racism and it's that second bit that has heavily impacted how the fandom reacted.

There's a lot of overlap between misogyny and racism in regard to the Guardians women, specifically, Gamora and Mantis, and there's also this strange refusal to see it addressed.

Seeing the interview Zoe Saldana gave recently really made it worse, IMO. She spoke about how even she wanted Gamora to return to the Guardians, but that wasn't the story Gunn wanted to tell... so now, just like us, she's left hoping that maybe in the future, Gamora gets to have her family back.

The Gamora aspect honestly killed the Guardians trilogy for me. I think it breaks the established pattern of the past 2 movies in a bad way, is nonsensical a finale to that story, and is overly reliant on downplaying the suffering of women to glorify a fucking raccoon.

I loved it so much and I’m so proud that Peter Quill has always been my favorite and I never once doubted him, he just my soft baby boy, the found family them saving everyone and giving my Adam a second chance after everything, he needed that and them adam saving my best boy quill I was screaming my lungs was about to explode thinking anything happened to him and Peter, again rocket story Peter, nebula as new mature person, the way she cared for the team especially Peter drunk awww was starting to ship a little ngl they were just so cute in anti earth being flirty and cute, Her seeing drax true value everything was just it in every way, mantis yelling at her in defence of drax and herself how they kept going back to save each other every action scene my fav is for sure groot Peter in ship that was so mf the best mcu fight scenes I’ve ever seen ngl and ofc Adam anyone too really, especially drax! whole movie was…..

JUST EVERYTHING I IMAGINED AND WAY WAY WAY MORE! still don’t like Gamora like never did never will she’s just meh to me like with Peter she at least had personality this one is just whatever there was no need for her in movie but Peter Nebula loves her so I hope she remembers and comes back to him then once he’s stoped running! 10/10 movies best marvel movie since fcvk endgame since infinity war, they didn’t need Peter apologizing for having feelings about thanos situation he did nothing wrong at all but that’s so in character for him so I’m glad they did even tho quill has never done anything bad in his life, like ever couldn’t even try doing anything bad he’s just soft baby who likes great music loves his best friend raccoon found family and Kevin bacon just like me I didn’t think I could love quill even more then I already do but when he didn’t give up on rocket, the way he was just this awesome bada88 off the bat when he saw his family sis getting attacked while he was drunk asleep yeah love quill even a million times more! High evolutionary best mcu villain top3 for sure GOTG best marvel movie/trilogy ever and I could finally see why Vin was groot when he talked at the end I saw it even older groot looks like him Vin all muscslur loved the new team leader and my himbo Adam joining them I can’t wait for their journey and for Adam movies hope Chuck comesback and High Ev is alive and well!
