The Darkhold and its influence (or potential lack thereof)
I recently had a troubling thought about Wanda's future. The number one defense for her in Multiverse of Madness is that Michael Waldron the Darkhold was corrupting her and dictating her actions. I fully buy into that, even though the movie is enragingly vague about it.
The only other people we see with the Darkhold are Sinister Strange and Agatha Harkness. The problem is, we have no idea what either of them were like without it. Maybe Sinister Strange was always a sadistic incel and Agatha was always a psychotic witch.
Since Agatha is getting her own show, I'm both hopeful and worried. I'm hopeful that she will be shown to be a better person now that she is free of the Darkhold's influence, but I'm worried that if the opposite happens and she is more or less the same then a lot of people will take it as definitive proof that the book didn't actually do anything to Wanda and she became a mass-murdering psychopath of her own accord.
As of now it could technically go either way, and that concerns me. Just let my girl redeem herself!

*Multiverse of Madness SPOILERS*
Can we talk about how stupid Wanda's plan was in MoM? And I don't care if she was corrupted by the Darkhold, it doesn't excuse her actions nor how dumb her plan was.
Even though she had her goodbye to Vision and technically her goodbye to her kids in Wandavision, it was ruined thanks to the post-credit scene and is now obsessed with going to a universe where they actually exist and be their mom....okay, questions here.
Why not find Pietro, HER TWIN BROTHER WHO'S ACTUALLY REAL?! Hell, why not Vision since she's still sad about his death?
Why not go to a universe where Billy and Tommy don't have their mom instead of trying to steal them from another Wanda?
If they're real in other universes, who's their father? Sure as hell ain't Vision.
If there's a universe where a Wanda was able to conceive Billy and Tommy without the Hex, why doesn't MCU Wanda do the same?
How and when did she know about America Chavez's powers?
Why couldn't she ask America to use her powers to send her to a universe instead of hunting her down, traumatizing her and trying to kill her? She could've been patient with her when she'd finally mastered her powers. Yeah, I know Wong asked that question, but her answer was stupid.
If Wanda needed America's powers to go to another universe that can cure something that the boys caught that can't be cured in the universe they resided in, WHY NOT ASK AMERICA TO SEND THEM SOMEWHERE THAT THEY CAN BE CURED?!?! Or better yet, Wanda learns some healing magic instead? She's a witch, there's gotta be some healing spells she can learn. Also, not every universe will have a cure for everything!
Not a question, but I wanna point out that Wanda's such a freaking hypocrite when she tries to call out Strange for doing things. But, here's the thing. Strange dream walking was to save America from getting killed by Wanda. Her dream walking was to hurt and kill people who got in her way, and possess an innocent Wanda. Him breaking the rules was to help and save people. Her breaking the rules hurt people. Plus, Strange gets called out on the things he's done and when he messes up. Wanda doesn't get called out on Westview (except Agatha), and is only called out on her plan in MoM. Hell, I don't know if she gets called out for her actions in Age or Ultron.
And, that's pretty much it. I'm so done with Wanda and how her character went from Age of Ultron to Multiverse of Madness. Plus, there's the whole whitewashing that I was addressed about a while back, which is a major issue. We could've had Baron Mordo, Nightmare, or even a Scarlet Witch variant be an antagonist, but no.
I don't know if she'll stay dead in the MCU though, because of rumors of a Scarlet Witch movie (even though MoM technically became one). Part of me hopes not, but another part of me does so that she'd get the crap beaten out of her. But, I'm not gonna hold my breath with how she's been propped up by stans and the MCU crew.

You completely hit the nail on the head with DSMOM having very few actually rules on how anything worked. It felt like strange & Wanda’s magic basically just ammounted to being whatever Waldron could come up with in the moment. Like as cool as the mirror scene looked, there was NOTHING that previously indicated that Wanda could do something like that. The same issue w the different universes. Which is even more nonsensical since they had already established some rules in Loki & what if that seemed to be pretty much disregarded in this.
Oh man, we (okay mostly me) spent a lot of time yelling at the screen cos it was so dumb.
The accusations that Stephen did the wrong thing by handing over the Time Stone — oh look another Stark fan spotted in the writers’ room.
Wanda leaning in and putting on her best trashy white woman voice to say “You break the rules and become a hero. I do it and I become the enemy. That doesn't seem fair.” Who are you and where is Wanda.
She has the Darkhold and the Darkhold has her…she’s not Wanda she’s the Scarlet Witch…erm so she’s a separate entity?? But she still wants Wanda’s kids?? When did this become a thing?
Wanda calling taking America’s power as a “sacrifice for the greater good”. What greater good? Does Waldron even know what greater and good means?? She was taking it so she can snatch her kids from another reality, there is no greater or good about it.
Christine’s “you always had to be the one holding the knife” — Christine you’re a bloody ED physician why do you even mind?? You’re literally in the one specialty who doesn’t have to deal with what a control freak neurosurgeon wants to do, and him being a control freak means he’ll take that patient off you asap which is exactly what you want.
Stephen casting a 3 week long slapping spell on the guy who just wanted them to pay for their pizza and then rudely grabbed his cloak — wow gee, real heroic, small business owner asking to get paid, how dare.
Wanda’s revelatory “this is a throne” as she descends on the bleakest remotest mountain peak ever - girl are you serious? Who builds a throne in the middle of bloody unsurvivable nowhere?
Christine suddenly being a lab tech in the multiverse: HA she’s an ED physician you think they have the patience to be research scientists??
The book of Vishanti “can give a sorcerer whatever power they need to vanquish their enemy” — hmm okay so why did Strange “turn to the Darkhold…In hopes that our salvation might lie in the Multiverse” when you’ve got a book that can give you whatever you need to vanquish your enemy?
“Everyone in that reality died” oh so when Strange does it he needed to be executed by his friends, but when TVA agents do it they’re just doing their jobs and there is no ethical dilemma to it? That doesn’t seem fair.
“This Stephen is different. It doesn't matter about all the other Stephens. They're not like him.” — ???? So you’re saying all the other Stephen’s are bad except this one?? What is with this constant barrage of accusations against Stephens? Isn’t he supposed to be the hero of this movie?
Stephen asking Stephen to prove he’s Stephen and he recounts a story about his sister — umm okay. So why is that exactly the same in every world but Christine is an emergency physician in one and a lab tech in another??
And like you said, the magic was all over the place. The mirror scene where Wanda climbs out of it like the girl in The Ring, Stephen fighting with music notes (why?), the demons that came out cos Stephen possess a dead body (what…), then Stephen using those demons as magic (whatttt).
And if Stephen had a character arc it was so subtle that it was barely noticeable 🙄

Having read spoilers for MoM I have zero desire to watch it. I have no desire to watch another character I love be assassinated by white male writer syndrome. I already didn’t care for Benadryl and only wanted to see it for Wanda and glimpses of the multiverse which sounded fun and Prof X.
Who tf wants to watch a refugee from a tiny fictional Eastern European country become a villain when you put on the news about a small and very real Eastern European country being attacked. Yeah, the mcu isn’t real but holy shit look around, Marvel

So, you mean to tell me that Mordo, who was set up in the first Doctor Strange movie to be an antagonist would've been killed off in MoM?! And to have his battles happen offscreen?! And not have any with Doctor Strange?!
Well, good thing that was cut out cause if that happened in the movie then that's utterly disrespectful to the character and makes his turn from the previous movie entirely pointless. Plus, this would've been yet another death to prop up Wanda as a villain.....screw that nonsense!

I wanted to show you some quotes from some interviews I've read with Waldron because I hate him:
“And it felt like to have her as just a member of an ensemble only to turn bad at the end would actually be shortchanging both versions of that journey. You’d get maybe a lousy version of her fall from grace, and also maybe a lousy version of her being a villain, as opposed to the really fun version of her being the villain.”
How fucking egotistical is this man that he clearly thinks he's the only one who could write a "really fun" version of her being evil and that if anyone else got to do it it would turn out "lousy" jfc.
“There isn’t always a fully satisfying ending to the entire audience, especially when you have a villain that everybody loves and cares about,” the writer explained. “The ending in a lot of ways is probably going to be sad, and it’s a tragedy. But I hope what was satisfying is the feeling that at the end of this thing, you do see Wanda break free of the Scarlet Witch’s hold on her, of the Darkhold.”
Ah, yes, Mike, I totally feel satisfied after seeing a woman lose everything, battle extreme grief and depression, and then commit suicide. This is totally what fans wanted to see for the most popular and powerful female character in the MCU. Also this makes it sound like Wanda is dead forever, which, ugh. I can't believe this man got a MCU Tv show, movie, and a fucking Star Wars movie.

Waldron strikes me as a bad fanfic writer who has barely read the summaries of canon and decides he has a better idea except his idea is just his own kink, and then he’s astounded no one likes it so it must be because everyone else is too dumb to “get” it.
I mean the thing with MCU is that unless you see a dead body they’re not dead, so I guess there’s still some capacity for her to come back. This is especially true now that they have the multiverse.
I think that’s why I never liked multiverse stories (or AU I guess). It undoes any emotional investment you have in the character by bringing a different version of them in.
Anyway what exactly does he mean by Wanda breaking free of “Scarlet Witch”? Is Scarlet Witch now an entity?
