Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
Pairing: Leon Kennedy x Prime Minister's Daughter! Reader (ft. Ada Wong)
Genre: Smut, Romance, Angst
Warning: cheating, Leon is obsessed with the reader, taking photos, the reader is cold but deep inside she’s a sweetheart, mentions of arranged marriage, pure smut (masturbation, foreplay, kissing, breasts fondling and sucking, markings,  p in v intercourse, virgin sex, penetrative sex, tummy bulge, breeding, impreg kink, Leon is huge [I think it's at least 9 inches, sheesh], creampie, aftercare)
Word count: 4.8k
Summary: As the eldest daughter of the Prime Minister and one of the faces of the family, you received multiple assassination attempts. So, your father hired someone to keep an eye on you. And to your surprise, out of all people, it was Leon Kennedy your father picked for you. You and Leon had a secret relationship but soon did not last because another woman came into his life. Now that the both of you meet again, will it be the start of chaos or a continuation of romance?
author's note: This is the fourth part of my story. This story is entirely fictional. I do not know what the President and the Prime Minister exactly do for the country. Same with the occupation of being a prosecutor and the chief of the CIA. English is not my mother tongue so pardon if you encounter mistakes and grammatical errors. This is only for entertainment purposes only. And minors, please do your homework first. additional note: I think this is considered as part of Kinktober. To my babies, mga anak, and so on, this is it! Enjoy!
It was midnight when you and Leon made it to your secret place— an apartment unit you bought without your father or even your brothers knowing. The whole ride was filled with sexual tension that he almost stopped on the side of the road just to make out with you. But you tamed his urge by holding his hand.
And the moment you stepped your foot inside your territory, Leon pulled you into a passionate kiss. You yelped at how sudden his movements were but the fact that you wanted this makes you hate him even more for making you feel this way. Like, his kiss was full of passion. He was proving how much he missed having a connection with you in a passionate way.
Comparing it to the kisses you both shared when the two of you were younger, this is way better than quick kisses. And when his tongue slipped into your mouth, you moaned in bliss because damn, it feels so good. The room was dimmed, only the light of the lamp and the city lights stood as your light.
“My sweet, sweet Y/n…” He whispered as he pulled away, giving you time to breathe.
You cupped his cheeks and looked deeply into his eyes. His eyes are filled with lust and passion. He needs you, you need him too. There’s no point of denying yourself to him. You admitted to yourself on the cliff that you still love him. And on his side, he always loved you even though fifteen passed, hiding behind shadows to keep an eye on you.
Pressing your foreheads together, Leon whispers, “Let’s be that perfect couple everyone hates.” You chuckled and replied, “How does everyone hate us when we become a couple again?”
“David will hate you for choosing me instead of him when your marriage is already settled. He will hate me for stealing his girl but wait, have you ever become his anyway?” You chuckled at his response, pulling away from him.
“Tell that to him and he’ll pull out his trump cards. You’re taking the woman that was supposed to marry the Senator’s son. As if my father, the Senate President, or even the President will let you do that.” You said, heading to the kitchen counter and poured yourself a glass of wine and drink.
“The President is on my side. Actually, two years after saving Ashley, he asked me to marry his daughter.” The revelation made you choke on your drink and cough. You looked at him with ‘what the fuck?’ expression.
Leon chuckled and approached you, crossing his arms on his chest.
“Of course, I declined. I know that marrying the President’s daughter is a big opportunity. But I am not that thirsty for power. Back to my point, I bet your father, the Prime Minister will go on a rampage when he finds out that his only daughter is breaking his rules and having an affair with her bodyguard.”
“Unless…” You paused, looking at Leon. He looked at you with a raised eyebrow. “Unless what, sweetheart?”
“Unless, we’ll give him an heir.” Leon looked at you for a few seconds until he realized what you were talking about. “A heir that will keep and continue the legacy of the family.” You added, taking another sip of your wine.
The man was silent after that. He was thinking how life will change for the both of you when a baby comes into your lives. A baby, whether it was a boy or a girl, will be the successor of the L/n-Kennedy bloodline. The feud will be over once a baby is formed into your womb. You know that your father will never have a heart to demand to abort the child because it’s also his flesh and blood. For your family that came from a wealthy and well-known ancestry, killing a child that was supposed to be the next-in-line of succession is a disgrace and disrespectful act.
“You mean…” Leon muttered, moving closer to you and wrapped his one arm around your shoulders while his other hand went to your lower stomach. “I’ll release my seeds here and put my baby into your womb?” He was grinning which caused you to giggle.
“Want me to make you a daddy?” You asked too. He laughed and pecked your lips.
“Yeah. Let’s start tonight.” He muttered seductively.
And there you found yourself in your bedroom. Leon liked how dark your bedroom was. Leon helped you remove your hair accessories and undo your hair. It was wavy and he grabbed your hair brush to run it against your hair. His touch was gentle and he inhaled the scent of your hair, driving him crazy. You chuckled and turned around facing him.
“I hate to admit this but…” You paused, reaching for his vest, unbuckling and removing them before undoing the buttons of his shirt. “I want to become a mommy now. I am already thirty-three and according to my friend, who’s a doctor, I might have some difficulties getting pregnant at this age.”
“I’ve heard about that too. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you’ll carry my baby to a healthy and safe pregnancy.” He assures you and you remove his shirt completely, letting it fall to the floor. “But please help yourself as I help you.” He added.
“Of course, I will take care of our baby in my womb until the day has come for him to be delivered.” You smiled, touching his toned chest down to his abs. Leon smiled and kissed your forehead.
“You have been so cold to me ever since I was hired to be your bodyguard and now I’m going to put a baby into your womb. That escalated really quickly.”
“That’s why I hate you.”
Leon tilted his head and kissed your lips. You kissed him back and you felt his hands unzipped your dress before pulling it down until it cools down around your feet, leaving you in your pretty pair of black underwear. His pupils dilated, seeing you almost naked. His eyes were filled with hunger as his gaze trailed down from your face down to your legs.
Your chest is heaving as your heart beats so fast as Leon carries you to the bed. Slowly, Leon crawled on top of you. His lower half is between your thighs while his upper body is hovering on yours. You cupped his cheeks and pulled him into a deep kiss. Despite the cool temperature of the room, you both feel hot as the sexual tension gets higher and higher.
“Do you really want me to make you a mommy?” He whispered seductively. You hummed and nodded your head but your response for him wasn't enough. “Words, darling.” He added.
“Want me to beg?” You asked. He growled and grind himself against your clothed core where you can feel the bulge on his pants. “Don’t speak to me like that. Remember, you are not the in-charge here but me.”
His husky voice made you moan. Calloused hands caress your belly as he hummed against your ear with a smirk plastered on his face. “Imagine, after 9 months of pregnancy… you’ll give birth to my baby. They will call you ‘mommy’ and they will call me ‘daddy’.”
You squirmed under his touch and his left hand went south, sneaking inside your panties and touching your dripping pussy. “Leon– kyah!” You squealed as his fingers massaged your pussy lips and gently rubbed your clit. He nibbled your earlobe and he continued touching the wet core.
“Let’s take this off, shall we?” He sat on his knees and hooked his fingers on the garter of your panties before pulling it down. “Ass up.” He ordered and you obliged. He continued pulling down your underwear until it was completely out of your legs.
Leon tossed it to the floor before bending your knees and pushed them apart, exposing your wet pussy. He grinned and touched it with his index finger, humming at how slick and wet you are. “Hear how wet your pussy, darling? I made this mess, didn’t I?” He chuckled.
He gently played with your clit, using your arousal to lubricate your nub. “Such a pretty, tasty-looking pussy. Mind if I have a taste?” And without hesitation, he stuck out his tongue and licked your pussy upwards, causing you to jolt.
“L-Leon…” You muttered. Leon held your thighs apart firmly as he savored your cunt, slurping your juices and teasing your clit with his tongue.
He would hum in satisfaction and delve deeper, burying his face between your thigh as he eats your pussy like it was his last meal before his death sentence. Knowing how sensitive you are, he took that advantage by licking and sucking your clit as he slipped his middle finger into your drooling hole.
“Oh my God! Leon— fuck!” You curse as your chest heaves up and down as you catch your breath. You reached for his hair and gripped on it. Leon looked at you and he felt satisfied, seeing your reaction as you moan.
“Don’t be too— ahh! I’m sensitive.” You babble.
“This will not be the first time we’ll have this kind of fun so better expect me to overstimulate you.” He replied, rubbing your clit with his thumb, sending you pleasure that your legs trembled. You wanted to close your legs as he stimulated your nub while his finger continuously went in and out of your hole.
You arched your back and held onto his arm, digging your nails against his skin. A knot formed in your stomach and felt yourself getting closer to the edge. Leon was smirking, obviously enjoying the sight of you squirming on his touch.
“Cumming, aren’t you, sweetheart? Go ahead. Chase your orgasm, I’ll help you out.”
Leon pulled his finger out of your hole and increased the intensity on your clit, getting you closer to your end. And just when you are about to be released, he stops and pulls away causing you to whine. “Oh, come on!” He chuckled, seeing you close your legs and feel the almost euphoric moment.
“Beg,” He demanded. “I want to see if you truly deserve to cum.”
“Please, daddy! I’ll be good! I promise that I’ll obey and be a good girl to you. Just don’t ruin my orgasm. I-I wanna cum!” You whined, tears filling up your eyes. His cock stiffen in his pants and your beg just snapped at him. So, he started rubbing your clit again with more intensity, bringing you back closely to your orgasm.
“That’s my girl, so very good.” He huskily said, collecting your arousal and used it to lubricate your clit.
“I’m cumming! Leon, I’m cumming!” You moaned loudly as your legs trembled once more. He buried his face between your legs and replaced his thumb with his tongue, sucking and licking your clit that caused you to scream and cum on his mouth.
You closed your trembling legs as he still ate you out. He did not stop enjoying your nectar. It drives him crazy and he craves for more. His cock went even harder in his pants, desperate to be free to feel a mind-blowing experience like his mouth had. Leon remembered that this is not the only exciting moment he will experience tonight. So, he pulled away from your pussy with his lips, chin, and some part of his cheeks are wet  due to your juices.
He wiped it off with the back of his hand before unbuckling his belt and undoing his pants before pulling them down with his boxers and removing it completely and tossed it to the floor. You closed your eyes but his hand caressed your thigh.
“Seeing it is included when a couple is about to make love. Whether you like it or not, it’s part of the human body that is going to be exposed with its partner.”
“No, it’s not that.” You replied.
“Then, what do you mean?” He asked.
“It’s just that it's way bigger than I saw before. You were not that big when I saw that accidentally.”
Remembering what you are talking about, he let out a giggle and slapped your thigh playfully. You laughed in return, remembering your funny, embarrassing moment with him back then. It was when you entered the bathroom without knowing that he was inside, taking a bath so yeah. You saw his cock already. He was not that small or not that big. Just average, because he was young at that time as he was still in the police academy.
But right now, kneeling in front of you is the same man you love but now with a huge cock and was going to rail the shit out of you tonight. Thanks to the dark room you guys were in. He’s not able to see the blush forming on your cheeks.
“You know, I find it unfair to be this hard but do not get something from you in return after giving you a satisfying orgasm.” He started. Knowing what he meant, you sat up and kissed his lower stomach just right above his bulbous tip.
“What do you want me to do? Return the favor?” You asked, batting your eyelashes to him with a teasing look. “Well, I don’t mind.” You added.
Leon feels proud seeing you being confident with yourself. You held his huge cock and jerked it, causing him to groan and bite his lip. “Don’t keep me waiting, sweetheart. I am not a patient man.” He muttered. You chuckled and looked at him.
“Chill, darling.” You paused and licked his tip that made him hold his breath as he felt your tongue touch his red tip. “Patience is a virtue.” He growled and opened your mouth before slipping his huge cock into your mouth, letting out a deep moan as he felt the warmth of your mouth.
“Patience, huh? Let’s see if you still could talk back to me.” Then he started thrusting his hips back and forth. Because of his huge size, you struggle to breathe and often choke or gag when his tip reaches the deep portion of your mouth.
Leon waited so long and now his dirty dreams are finally coming true. He moaned in bliss, closing his eyes with his head thrown back in pleasure. “Sweetheart, your mouth feels so good!” He praised, continuously moaning. You held on his thighs to support yourself due to his faster pace.
Leon pulled out of your mouth and jerked his cock that was coated with saliva and arousal while his other hand was gripping on your hair. “Come on, darling. Show me what you got.” He challenged you. You rolled our eyes and scoffed before taking his cock back into your mouth and showing him your ability.
He moaned in satisfaction as you took over the job, proving to him that you’re better than he imagined. Your tongue is having contact with his cock, touching the veins that send him pleasure. You were so beyond his expectations.
“Just like that! Suck my cock and take it like a good girl!” He moaned, throwing his head back. His praises made you even more wet until you felt his cock start to twitch and his body shudder.
“Don’t stop! I’ll cum in your mouth, you hear me? I’ll spill my kids into your mouth first before spilling the others inside your womb.” He moaned and you helped him reach his orgasm by sucking him even better than before.
“Your mouth feels so good, sweetheart! I can’t believe that I am— gonna cum!” He yelled and growled, spilling his hot, slimy essence down to your throat.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, oh fuck!” He exclaimed in pure bliss and ecstasy. It took him a few minutes to calm himself from a mind-blowing blowjob he experienced.
He was even more impressed when he saw you swallowing his seeds. “So pretty for me…” He whispered and gently pushed you down against the soft mattress and hovered over you. “Are you ready, mommy?” You nodded at his question.
Leon spread your legs open, rubbing your clit in circles with your arousal. “Here I go,” He said before aligning his cock into your aching hole. Your heart was beating in anticipation. Leon held your waist before plunging his tip into you. Your eyes widened and gasped in shock.
“L-Leon!” You whined and Leon grabbed your wrist and put your hand on his shoulder, kissing them.
“Shhh, it’s alright. I’ll be gentle, I promise. Just hold onto me, darling.” He hushed you. The feeling was so overwhelming that you can’t help but sob. “Leon, it hurts!” You whined as he pushed himself deeper, penetrating your walls.
Leon was in bliss and groaned when your walls clenched around him. “Fuck, so tight!” He moaned as he went in deeper with such care. You keep your eyes closed, biting on your left hand while your right hand is holding on his shoulder. “Look at me, Y/n. Come on, baby.” He comforts you.
Through your tears, you looked at him and he leaned down to kiss your lips. “The pain will be gone soon, I promise. Don’t cry, my love. I’m here.” He whispered and kissed you passionately. Soon, the pain was put aside. Leon knows it the way you squirm underneath his touch. Your walls kept clenching around his girth causing him to grunt.
“Fucking hell, pussy’s so tight!” He breathed out. “Are you ready, my love?”
You nodded your head in response. Leon held your waist and slowly moved his hips against your. He was gentle and careful with his movements. This night was supposed to be romantic and filled with pleasure. That's why he’s refraining himself from being rough with you when you’re still in a vulnerable state.
“Oh my God, so huge!” You whined as you felt his huge length being inserted and withdrawn from your pussy. “I did not expect that my virginity would be taken by the same man who hurt me.” Leon scoffed at your comment.
“But the man who hurt you is the one who will give you beautiful children. You still love that man because if you don’t, you wouldn’t let him take you under him and take your virginity.” He seductively whispered to your ear.
Soon, he started to go faster to your comfort. You looked him deeply into the eye as he held your thighs apart and shifted his position, reaching the deeper portion of your pussy. Leon smirked and grabbed your jaw to make you look at him firmly. “Tongue out,” He demanded and you obliged. He sucked your tongue and it turned into a sloppy kiss.
“Faster, please…” You whispered between kisses. Leon stopped for a moment, waiting for you to repeat your request. “I need more!” You whined and he smirked. “You need more? Then, beg for it. You can beg, right? Go ahead.”
“Please, daddy! Go faster, please! I need more of you. Please, I’ll take it like a good girl!”
And that snapped Leon out of his senses. He started to go faster than before, sending you an overwhelming pleasure that caused you to arch your back. “Like this, darling?” Leon growled and you mewled in return.
His tip was hitting on your cervix. Due to his huge length and girth, it feels like he’s splitting you in half. Moans, groans, and skin slappings resonated in the room. Leon was in bliss, shoving his cock in and out of your drooling hole and earning sinful moans from you. This is what he waited and wanted to do for fifteen years…
“Fifteen years, my love…” He muttered as he drilled himself deeper into you. “I waited for fifteen years to have you in my arms again. I fucking love you so much!” He whimpered.
You are holding onto him for your dear life as his movements grew more intense and vigorous. You knew that this will be the last time you’ll have this intercourse with him. Oh, you just know it by just looking at this man who craves you badly. He’s determined to make you pregnant with his child, the key to ending the quarrel of both sides.
“Do you know how lucky you are to be the mother of my child?” He asked as he pulled you closer, hips continuously thrusting and out of you. “Make sure that you are not taking your pills, my darling or else there will be no Little Kennedy in your womb. Understood?”
“Ahhh~! Yes! My God, yes!” You wailed. A knot starts to form in your stomach and your legs tremble in pleasure. Leon knows that you’re close to reaching your orgasm so he puts more pressure by pressing his hand on your lower stomach. “Oh, my! Ahhh!” You cried out and he smirked, seeing you tearing up as he did so. You squirmed under his touch and tended to push him away but he put his weight onto you and held you down with your both legs on his both shoulders as he put you into the mating press.
“Leon, can’t hold it anymore! I need to cum!” You mewled and he groaned when your walls clenched around him. He keeps going until you let out a scream and squirt. Leon pulled out and rubbed your clit with his tip as your juices gushed out of your pussy.
It stopped for a while and Leon pushed his cock back inside you. He made some few thrusts before having you squirt again, wetting his lower abdomen, some parts of his thighs, down to the bed. Leon pulled out and watched you burst out of you and jerked himself.
You helped him off by replacing his hand and gripping on his length, moving your hand up and down as his tip poked in and out of its skin. His cock was twitching and you can tell that he’s about to cum too. “Proceed, my love. Jerk me off. I’ll tell you when I am coming.”
In return, Leon slipped his middle finger and ring finger inside your soppy cunt thrusting them in and out. It makes squelching and wet sounds as he fingered you, touching the spongy spot that caused you to jolt and squeal. You glared at him while holding his wrist with your free hand while continuously jerking him off with the other.
“What? I’m just returning the favor.” He smirked and curled his fingers inside you and hit the right spot that you squirted again on his hand. As releasing your juices, he withdrew his fingers and rubbed your clit again. “Darling, it’s good to keep stimulating your clit. It makes me want you more.”
As revenge, you quickened your jerking pace and he moaned and he held your wrist. Thinking that you are overstimulating him, you smirked but he grabbed your other hand and led it towards down his balls, letting you massage them. He moaned and threw his head back in pleasure. “Keep doing that.” He muttered. Soon, his cock became harder and started twitching. You took this as a sign and you fastened your face.
“Yes, yes, yes! Oh, fuck! Yes!” He growled and removed your hands before slamming his cock back deep into your pussy and his seeds spurted out of his tip, filling you up.
You closed your eyes and let your head down on the pillow as he filled you up. He cums a lot that some of them started flowing out of you. “Fuck, it feels so good…” You breathed out. He chuckled before leaning in and kissed your lips softly before pulling out. He crawled on top of you until his cock was right in front of your face.
“Open up,” He demanded. You opened your mouth and the last drops of his cums landed on your tongue. He squeezed himself and when it was all empty, he tapped the tip against your lips and you sucked it clean.
“That’s my girl.” He said before placing himself between your thighs again.
Leon watches a stream of his cum running out of you. You look so beautiful. He lowered his head between your legs and stuck out his tongue and gave your clit a small kitten licks. Some of his cums that are flowing out of you caught by his tongue and he used it to lubricate your swollen nub.
You closed your eyes and bit your finger while your other hand was gripping on his hair. Your legs were on his shoulder, toes curling in pleasure while your feet rub gently against his back. Leon collected his cum on his fingers and pushed it back inside you and licked you for the last time before pulling away.
“Ready for round 2?” He asked and you nodded.
“Yeah…”
—
Leon decided to change your positions. You are now on top of him while he is underneath you. Leon held your waist and guided your dripping entrance to his cock. When the tip was plunged inside, you moaned as you sat with his cock sliding inside of you.
“O-ow!” You whined and you felt him reach the deepest part of your pussy.
You looked down and your eyes widened in shock when you saw a bulge formed in your lower stomach. You gasped and touched it with such care. Leon saw this and he couldn't help but grin. “Look at this masterpiece, honey. Feel how deep I reached, sweetheart?”
You put your hands on  his chest to support your weight. “I feel numb.” You whispered.
“Aww, come here…” He cooed and wrapped your arms around his waist. He adjusted your position before thrusting his hips up and down inside your pussy.
He doesn't mind if he does all the work. Your eyes are closed and your mouth is hanging open as sinful moans come out of it in every thrust he makes. Leon pistoned his hips and you jolted as his movements became rough and aggressive. Your moans sounds like you're having hiccups due to his fast movements.
“Let me suck those boobs of yours,” He growled and cupped one of your breasts and sucked your nipple. This adds more pleasure to you that you can’t stop moaning and whining. Leon sucked it like a hungry man before sucking the other one.
“Nipples are so soft. Our baby will definitely like it. Oh, I am gonna be so jealous that he gets to be breastfeed by his beautiful mother everyday, having her nipple into his mouth and suck her milk.” He chuckled and kissed your cleavage.
“Your breasts will be even bigger when they start carrying milk for our child. Expect me already that I will fondle and suck them especially when you lactate.”
You moaned even more in overwhelming pleasure. Both of you were still overstimulated earlier that’s why your orgasm builds up quicker than the previous ones. You feel yourself getting closer and closer to your climax as you feel his cock twitch and both of you are trembling.
“Are you ready to become a mommy? Oh, my sweet Y/n… I am going to marry you. I wouldn’t want to give this child a life with unmarried parents. It would be better for him to legitimately carry my name.” He said between moans.
“Fuck, I’m cumming! Cumming!” You cried as your legs trembled and you quiver.
“You’ll be so beautiful, having your belly big and round as my child grows inside. My, my, my, I can’t wait to see our beautiful child together. We’ll welcome him into this world together and we’ll give him the best life away from bioterrorism.”
“Leon, I can’t—” You were interrupted as he kissed you. You couldn’t help yourself anymore so you released your orgasm, your body jolting as you do so. Your walls suffocated his cock inside you and he did not stop.
He kept going and going until he couldn’t hold himself anymore.
“Take it, take it, take it! Oh, fuck, I’m cumming!” He moaned loudly and spurted his cum deep inside you. You feel so full and your energy is drained. You collapsed on top of him and caught your breath.
“I love you…” You whispered. Leon heard it and giggled.
“”I love you too…”
Leon pulled himself out of you. Like the previous one, you are dripping with his cum. He grabbed his phone and took a photo. You did not complain or remorse. You just let him be. Because the mattress was wet, Leon carried you to the room next to yours. There, you two laid down on the bed. Still naked, but covered in a blanket to keep yourselves warm.
You are looking outside through the window, admiring the city lights. Leon pulled you even closer to him and kissed your forehead. You closed your eyes and nuzzled him and pressed your lips together.
“This is not the last time we'll do this, right?” You asked.
“You know, it’s hot and sexy to try in different places.” He replied.
You laughed and poked his nose.
“You naughty daddy…”

Hi, i just wanted to say that i recently stumbled upon your page and might’ve spent the last couple of days binge reading your master list because your works are really amazing ✨
Can I request a Shinobu x reader (she/her) enemies to friends to lovers? Their first interaction was right before the final selection begun when the reader was trying to comfort and optimistically reassure her super anxious friend that was taking part of the event. Younger Shinobu interrupts them and reader gets into a heated argument with her after being put off by her overall brash and blunt sarcastic personality. During final selection, reader pairs off with her friend and the reader’s optimism keeps the two of them alive until they were about to be defeated by the final demon of the night when Shinobu swoops in to swiftly eliminate it. Her excuse being that everyone was in her way to the finish line and not because she cared about reader and friend. Shinobu and reader bicker the whole time as the 3 of them finish up the event.
Years later and Reader and Shinobu see each other for the first time after FS after being summoned to do a mission together in the mountains which neither party realized until they run into the other. Of course they bicker for the most part and even taking shots at each other while battling the demon together. After they kill it, the two start making their way down the mountain until a bad winter storm hits and they have unintentionally have bonding moments when they have to spend the night in a cabin. Shinobu witnesses the reader having a nightmare, wakes her up and comforts her after she reveals that the friend from FS had died the previous year after taking a fatal blow that was intended for the Reader and in their final words, told her that they always admired her confidence and optimism and that’s why she has even more of a motivation to always look on the bright side of things. The night ends with them cuddling together to stay warm throughout the cold night as feelings start to develop. The day after, as they’re descending down the mountain, they encounter a stronger demon than the night before and realize they were both sent to the mountains to eliminate 2 different demons and not the same one as originally thought. Reader ends up critically injured and Shinobu rushes her new friend back to the mansion after the fight. Shinobu successfully saves the girl by temporarily pushing aside her pessimism to do a risky surgery even when it had a low chance of success. During recovery time, their bond deepens along with their crushes on each other. Of course the one time the reader is actually nervous is when it comes to being unsure if the hashira reciprocates the same feelings. Shinobu then flusters the poor girl by returning to her blunt self and they officially get together!

(Y/n) had butterflies in her stomach. After a year of training, her cultivator had finally deemed her worthy. The time of her Final Selection was finally here. She nearly leapt out of her skin when she felt a hand wrap around her bicep, tugging her close.
“How are you not freaking out right now?” Her training partner and very good friend, Sayo, whispered.
(Y/n) smiled, “I am a little nervous, but we trained very hard for this. We’re going to be just fine, try not to worry so much.”
“Maybe you will, but I’m pretty sure Master only allowed me to come because he felt bad for me or something… but I’d feel worse if I got killed because I wasn’t ready.”
“You are ready.” (Y/n) assured, “I promise you’ll be just fine.”
“Tch.”
(Y/n) paused in her comforting to turn towards the direction of the dismissive click, finding another girl looking at her disapprovingly.
“Can I help you?”
“How would you do that? By feeding me promises you have no power to keep? It’s going to be hell in there.” Came the stranger’s gruff reply.
(Y/n) bristled, “What’s your problem?”
“No, what’s yours? Feeding your friend lies like that. We are here to kill demons after all. It’s not a fun little camping trip.”
“I know that!” (Y/n) snapped back. “No one is saying this is going to be fun! But if you go in there with a negative mindset like that, you are pretty much destined to fail!” She took Sayo by the hand, “Come on Sayo, let’s decide what angle we want to enter the forest from.”
With one last shared glare between (Y/n) and the stranger, she turned her back on her and pulled Sayo away, reminding her loudly that they would make it through just fine if they stuck together.
“How rude,” (Y/n) grumbled once they were far enough away, “who walks up to someone to argue over something that was none of their business?”
“Forget it (Y/n), everyone is on edge. Don’t pay her any mind and just focus on surviving the next week.” Sayo advised.
“You’re right,” (Y/n) sighed, then pumped herself up, a new, confident smile upon her lips, “We are going to be full-fledged demon slayers!”
(Y/n) held out her fist and Sayo huffed in a amusement at how easily (Y/n) moved on from the encounter. She bumped her fist against hers. The smile on her face was more of the nervous variety, but she hid it well.
“Welcome everyone.”
(Y/n) and Sayo turned to the platform in the center of the wisteria grove, their trial about to begin.
***
“There you go, is that any better?” (Y/n) asked once she finished wrapping Sayo’s ankle.
“Much. Thanks, and sorry.” Sayo put her head down, “I haven’t really been helpful these last few days.”
“Hey, don’t talk like that. You’ve been doing great.” (Y/n) said while handing Sayo the last of her water.
“I can’t take that (Y/n). You need to keep your strength up too.” Sayo tried to deny, but (Y/n) persisted.
“It’s the last night. You need it more than I do. In a couple hours, we can drink and eat all we want.”
“Ohhh, that sounds so good,” Sayo groaned, “and an actual bed to sleep in.”
“Yessss.” (Y/n) agreed wistfully.
“And a bath.”
“And a bath!”
“Pfft.”
They laughed and (Y/n) got back to her feet, offering her hand to Sayo to help her to her feet as well.
“We must be getting close. Let’s finish strong.” (Y/n) encouraged.
“Right.”
They had the luxury to find a lull in demons this night. They would have loved to rest some more, but it was best to get out now and not wait around for trouble to appear. Unfortunately, trouble had found them anyway.
(Y/n) dodged the sharp whips of the demon’s tails. The demon had been blocking their exit long enough that she was starting to feel the fatigue and Sayo wasn’t fairing much better.
“Don’t worry, Sayo! We can do this!” (Y/n) encouraged, slicing a couple of the whipping tails before tucking and rolling out of the way once more.
Sayo gave a halfhearted nod, it was starting to hurt just for her to keep a decent stance. She thought she had an opening, so she lunged towards the demon, but a twinge in her ankle caused her steps to faulter. The demon noticed this slip up and with a wicked grin, he leapt at her.
(Y/n) pushed Sayo back, attempting to block the incoming blow with her sword, but the spiny tails were coming in every direction it seemed. They were far too close to get away now. Still, her resolve would not waver. She would protect Sayo and trade blows with the demon.
However, before they could make contact, the demon suddenly wailed and reeled back, a thin sword pierced through his chest. When he fell to the ground, the girl they had met before Final Selection began was standing behind him. Her dark purple eyes found (Y/n)’s as she withdrew her blade from the demon’s back.
“Woah,” Sayo marveled, “He’s not moving. Is he really dead? How did you do that without beheading him?”
“Poison.” The girl answered tersely.
“Well, thanks for the help.” (Y/n) wasn’t petty enough not to acknowledge the save. Even if she didn’t like the girl, they would have been in real trouble without her.
“You were all just in the way of my finish line. Stay out of my way instead of taking up the whole path next time.”
You know what, never mind. Screw her actually.
“No need to be like that. We’re all working towards the same goal, you know.” (Y/n) frowned. “We should all be helping each other. We’re stronger together.”
The girl rolled her eyes. Not at all interested in continuing such a useless conversation, she continued running towards the clearing.
“Hey! Don’t ignore me!” (Y/n) called after her. She turned to Sayo, “Come on, we have to get there before her!”
“Since when did this become a race?” Sayo yelped, suddenly finding herself over (Y/n) shoulder as she ran after the other girl.
“Hey, little butterfly girl!“ (Y/n) huffed, adjusting Sayo over her shoulder.
She was incredibly fast, annoyingly fast, but (Y/n) was determined to keep her in her sights.
“My name is Kochou!” The girl shot back, a fire burning in her eyes when she glanced back, annoyed that even when carrying someone else, that (Y/n) was able to keep up for the most part.
“So I am right! Butterfly girl!” (Y/n) smiled triumphantly.
“Kochou? Like Kochou Kanae? That slayer who is soon to be a Hashira?” Sayo tried to turn her head to look at Kochou more clearly, but the bouncing as (Y/n) kept running made it difficult.
“No way!” (Y/n) refused to believe it. “Isn’t she supposed to be really nice? There is no way they’re related.”
“Keep my sister’s name out of your mouths and quit following me already! Can’t you do anything yourselves or are you really so confident that having a good attitude will mean things will always go your way!” Kochou yelled.
“Oh don’t be so narcissistic! What? Are we supposed to just sit on our hands until you disappear into the trees before we start moving again? We want to get out too you know!” (Y/n) scowled.
Shinobu ran faster, so (Y/n) ran faster. When Shinobu noticed (Y/n) running faster, she ran even faster, and when (Y/n) noticed— you get the idea.
The three girls landed in a crumpled heap at the edge of the wisteria clearing. It wasn’t a pretty entrance, but they made it.
“You tripped me!” Kochou accused, red in the face.
“You’re delusional! It was you who tripped me!” (Y/n) refuted.
“Oh thank the gods.” Sayo wheezed, laying flat on her stomach with her eyes closed. She pet the ground lovingly, ignoring the heated argument unfolding beside her.
(Y/n) and Kochou shoved at each other as they picked their ore and shared only a brief show of solidarity in burning their revealing uniforms to demand proper ones. They went right back to bickering however as soon the issue had been corrected.
Finally when the road forked, they separated, making a show of how happy they were not to be continuing on together.
“Did you have to be that obnoxious?” Sayo sighed once Kochou was out of sight.
“She started it.” (Y/n) grumbled. “If I never see her again, it’ll still be too soon.”
***
Four Years Later
(Y/n) pulled her haori as closely to her body as she could. It was absolutely freezing. All she could hear was the sound of her feet crunching the snow beneath her and the whipping of the wind stinging her cheeks as she carried on up the mountain. Winter was always the worst time for slaying demons. The cold, the hidden dangers that could trip you up in the snow, the slippery terrain. It was all (Y/n) could do to make sure her muscles remained as flexible as possible so they wouldn’t be stiff when she finally found the demon she had been sent to look for.
Though a little hazy, the sun was still visible behind the thin sheet of clouds. Hopefully, she’d find the demon right away tonight. The weather in the mountains was always unpredictable. You could watch a beautiful crystal blue sky become a blizzard not an hour later.
(Y/n) jerked her head up to look in front of her instead of down at her feet when she thought she heard another step in the snow opposite of her own. She stopped moving and listened. Sure enough, someone was walking towards her from the left. When she turned her head again, her mouth fell open in shock when she saw someone walking in much the same manner as she had mere moments ago.
Seeming to sense the eyes on her, the young woman looked up, her mouth fell open in surprise as well, though it was less noticeable than (Y/n)’s.
Her hair was a little longer and she didn’t look nearly as sour, but (Y/n) had recognized her almost immediately.
“No fucking way.”
“My, you should consider washing out that mouth of yours, hmm… (Y/n)-san, was it? Though I must say I’m also quite surprised to see you here.”
“Eh?” (Y/n) blinked. “What’s with the prim and proper act, Kochou? I almost didn’t recognize you without that sour grapes scowl.”
“I grew up, unlike you.” She tilted her head and smiled. “How sad for you.”
“Oh go jump off of the mountain.” (Y/n) sneered, then began clomping through the snow once more, “I don’t have any time for you. I’ve got a mission.”
“Are you sure you’re not lost, because it is my mission objective that is supposed to be on this mountain.” Kochou asked, waddling after (Y/n) in the deep snow.
“No, my crow was very specific.”
“So was mine.”
“If we were really sent here for a joint mission together, I’m going to scream and cause an avalanche, killing us both.” (Y/n) deadpanned.
“Don’t be so dramatic.” Kochou allowed herself to roll her eyes ever so slightly. “If we really were sent here to slay the same demon, then I’ll simply take care of it quickly so we can get on with our lives.”
“Why do you think you’re the one who’s going to take care of it?” (Y/n) asked defensively.
“Oh (Y/n)-san, I’ve seen how you deal with demons. Not very impressive.”
“That was four years ago! I’m leagues better than I was back then, and I’ll be better than you too!”
“You do realize you are talking to a Hashira, correct? I’d watch your mouth.”
“Oh yes,” (Y/n) mockingly clasped her hands together, resting her cheek upon the back of them, “who hasn’t heard about the beautiful and graceful Insect Hashira, Kochou Shinobu? Ever so kind and wise!” She switched to a crossed arm position, “Made me want to throw up.”
“Wish I could say I’ve heard anything about you, but I haven’t heard a word in four years. All I know is that you aren’t a Hashira, otherwise we would have crossed paths again sooner. How embarrassing it must be to see someone from the same Final Selection be so obviously more successful than you.” Shinobu shook her head with false sympathy, but did nothing to hide the smirk on her face.
“One more demon.” (Y/n) turned and jabbed a finger in Shinobu’s chest, “Once I decapitate this demon, I will qualify as a Hashira.”
Shinobu lightly pushed (Y/n)’s hand away, “If, you decapitate this demon you mean. If it’s taken you this long to get this far, I don’t think it’s likely tonight will be your night.”
“This may come as a surprise to you, but when you’re assigned to group missions as often as I, sometimes playing the assist is the best option. I haven’t beheaded fifty demons yet, so what. It’s the lives of the people I am teamed up with that mean more to me than a stupid title…”
(Y/n)’s voice got quieter and she began looking past Shinobu before she finished speaking, a far off look in her eye. Shinobu didn’t know what that was about, but before she could inquire, (Y/n)’s eyes hardened again and she turned away from Shinobu with a huff.
“This demon’s head is mine!” She declared, trudging through the snow once more, a fist held high above her head.
“Not if I kill it first!” Shinobu sing-songed,” If I, a Hashira, am there assisting you, it certainly won’t count towards your total anyway, will it?”
(Y/n)’s steps faltered noticeably and Shinobu grinned at her back.
“Oh, were you not aware?”
(Y/n) didn’t reply, but she did begin running as fast as she could in the calf deep snow.
“Are you… running away from me?” Shinobu inquired, slow to follow, but making up for time by traveling the footprint trail (Y/n) was leaving.
“I will become a Hashira tonight! I can’t have you ruining this for me!” (Y/n) yelled.
“I won’t let you leave my sight until the demon is dead. The thought of having to see you more often makes my skin crawl!” Shinobu teased maliciously.
“You witch!” (Y/n) cursed.
She was not going to let Shinobu ruin this for her so easily. She jumped, latching onto a tree limb. She swung herself up into the tree and began hopping from branch to branch, much faster than traveling across the snowy mountain terrain.
Unfortunately for her, Shinobu was nothing if not quick and agile. She easily trailed (Y/n), but never overtook her. She didn’t need to, because (Y/n) knew she could, and it was just making her more annoyed knowing that Shinobu was toying with her.
As they kept moving, the clouds became dark and full, blotting out the rays of sun that had previously managed to shine through. Nearby, a demon stuck his head out from his hiding place within the deep snow he had tunneled into the dawn before. He grinned in a twisted way up at the blocked sky and a clicking noise emitted from his throat. With conditions like this, he could roam freely for several extra hours!
The demon crawled out of his burrow, already salivating. He could sense that there were humans somewhere on the mountain. He grunted and wheezed, gnashing his teeth in excitement. He wouldn’t have to grab a child from the valley, tonight. The food was coming to him instead!
Then the wind changed unexpectedly, but not from the oncoming bad weather.
“It’s mine! Back off!” (Y/n) panted, mildly exhausted after running from Shinobu all afternoon. She swiped at the demon, but he ducked just in time. (Y/n) rolled in the powdery snow, quick to get back on her feet and try again.
Suddenly, the demon’s early outing didn’t seem so exciting. Now the unfortunate creature wished he had stayed hidden in his burrow as the two women came sailing at him from different directions, all the while goading and taunting each other with each missed strike.
The demon sensed this wasn’t about him at all. These demon slayers seemed more interested in who could out do the other than slaying him. The demon was strangely insulted by that.
Nevertheless, the demon tried to make a run for it. He wasn’t the strongest demon on the mountain. If it could lead them to their territory… perhaps he would make it out of this alive! Maybe they would share their corpses with him for being such a dutiful underling!
Easier said than done.
He had ran valiantly, he had crossed over into their territory, but while dodging one girl’s attack, the other stabbed him in the ribs. He thought surely he’d be fine, he kept running, but then he noticed that he wasn’t healing, his blood began to burn in his veins. Before the poison could completely overtake him, the other caught up and sliced his head clean off with a roar of frustration.
As his body began to slowly fade, he silently cursed the bickering pair who even now held not a care, ignoring him still with their attentions only reserved for each other.
His last fading thought was a hope that the stronger demon would sense their trespasses on their land. That human blood would be shed before those women descended the mountain.
“There, I killed it before the poison could! That ought to count for something!” (Y/n) argued, shoving her sword back into its sheath.
“My poison slowed it. You had ample opportunity to deal the finishing blow, but missed every time, so I think not.” Shinobu countered. “You were really optimistic about beating me, weren’t you? Some things never change. You really must learn to look at things more realistically.”
“You are so incredibly infuriating!” (Y/n) yelled, her voice muffled from where her hands covered her face. “If I thought as pessimistically as you do, I’d never do anything at all! I shape my own destiny! Does it always pan out? No, but at least I can say I gave all I had.”
A strong wind whipped up, blowing snow around them. Larger, fresh flakes began to flit down to the ground.
“Ugh, could this day get any worse?”
As it turned out, it could.
(Y/n) and Shinobu pushed against the stinging winds the snow was coming down so thick that they couldn’t see very far in front of them at all. It was even hard to differentiate the sky from the ground. It was a complete whiteout.
Within the loud winds, thin air and extreme cold, (Y/n) and Shinobu hadn’t the energy to continue arguing. They needed to find some form of shelter from the elements soon or they wouldn’t be found until the spring melt carried their bodies down with the run-off.
(Y/n) nearly fell when her foot caught on something beneath the snow, a dull thud barely audible to her ears. She squinted before her, wiping away the caked on snow before her to find a wooden door. With a mighty push, and a bit of kicking, she managed to slide the door open.
It was an abandoned cabin. Not very comforting nor warm looking, but beggars couldn’t be choosers.
“Hey, Kochou!” She yelled, her voice getting lost on the wind, still she persisted, “Kochou, I found a cabin!”
She turned behind her, blocking her eyes from the sideways angle the snow was coming in from. She searched for a dark shape, something that would tell her that Shinobu was close behind, but she saw nothing.
“Damn it all.” (Y/n) griped.
She closed the door. Praying she wouldn’t lose her sense of direction, she began kicking up the snow, carving a deeper path in the snow that would take longer for the blizzard to cover up as she went searching for the Hashira.
“Kochou!” She yelled over and over against the wind, her throat becoming dry and the icy temperatures sticking in her lungs.
This wasn’t good.
“Kochou, where the hell are you?”
Her shuffling feet hit something once more, but being as tired as she was, she couldn’t recover her balance and fell over the protrusion. With a groan, she weakly turned over to see what had tripped her up. She brushed away some of the quickly gathering snow, and her heart nearly stopped beating when she saw it was Shinobu laying there, unconscious. The cold must have been too much for her.
“Damn you, Kochou. Why didn’t you say something?” (Y/n) scolded.
With a few mighty heaves, she picked up Shinobu and began following her swiftly vanishing path back to the cabin. Luckily, she found the stoop once more, and put Shinobu down so she could open the door and drag her in.
When she closed the door, the chaos outside muffled. The darkness and silence of the cabin a sharp contrast from the blinding blizzard outside.
She dragged Shinobu over to the hearth and managed to find some old dusty supplies to make a fire. Leaving Shinobu by the fire to warm up, she looked around the cabin for any helpful supplies. She did find a couple dusty jars of preserved fruit, a dingy pot, very crisp tea leaves and a single bed roll paired with a large, heavy blanket.
She could work with this, though she wished she had found another bed roll, or at least another blanket. She braved the cold once more to scoop a bunch of snow into the pot and returned inside to set the pot on the fire.
She then rolled Shinobu on to the bedroll and covered her with the heavy blanket. Hopefully she’d wake up soon. Not because (Y/n) wanted to talk to her or anything, she just didn’t want her to actually die.
When the snow had melted and the water had been at a roaring boil for a fair amount of time, (Y/n) added the dry leaves that were well past their prime. It was a bastardized version of tea, but it would be better than drinking plain hot water.
When the aroma began filling the room, Shinobu began to stir.
“Morning stupid… or night… hard to tell in here.” (Y/n) murmured, sipping some of the sad tea directly from the pot.
“I am not stupid.” Shinobu grumbled. She was still feeling lethargic from her hypothermia. Too cold and tired to hold up her prim and proper act. “What is that?”
“Tea. And before you complain, I didn’t exactly have a lot to work with.”
“I’m not drinking out of that.” Shinobu turned her head away from the offered pot.
“Don’t be such a priss. You fell unconscious in the snow. You need to work your strength back up so we can leave when the blizzard calms down.”
Shinobu’s lips twitched with displeasure, but she took the pot from (Y/n)’s hands and forced down a few sips. The warmth in her stomach and her fingers was a relief.
“And here’s the main course. Eat up, sour grape.” (Y/n) pushed over one of the fruit preserve jars then stood up, planning on doing another sweep of the cabin to see if there really was only one set of bedding, but then Shinobu asked her a troubling question.
“Why did you come back for me?”
“Wh— listen,” (Y/n) sighed, “You infuriate me, but that doesn’t mean I’d ever leave you for dead. That thing about the avalanche, you know I was just being facetious, right?”
“Of course I did.” Shinobu stated confidently. However the wave of relief that washed over her body would beg to differ. She looked down at the blanket in her lap and fiddled with a loose string. “I wouldn’t intentionally bring you physical harm either, just so you are aware.”
“Cool. So now that we know neither of us is going to try to kill the other in their sleep, I am going to bed.”
And bed for (Y/n) tonight would be the floor and a filthy, damp rug she had just noticed in the entryway of the cabin.
“You aren’t really going to sleep on that.” Shinobu spoke up when she had determined where (Y/n) was heading.
“Don’t be silly. I’m sleeping on the floor. This is going to be my blanket.” (Y/n) explained.
“Just use a bedroll like a civilized human being.” Shinobu tried to reason.
Then Shinobu looked back down at where she had found herself. (Y/n) wouldn’t have given her bedding without getting herself some too, that just wouldn’t make sense. So that meant, she had only found one set and gave it to her…
“Come on now,” Shinobu attempted to clear her throat quietly, failing, “get in.”
“I know we established we’re aren’t trying to kill each other, but I think I’ll pass—“
“Stop acting like a child and get over here. You will get sick sleeping like that and with the supplies I have at my disposal currently, we cannot afford to fall ill.” Shinobu scooted over, “Look,” she patted the vacated space, “if you stay on this side we won’t even touch.”
(Y/n) wanted to object again, but she could tell Shinobu was not going to drop it so she dragged her feet away from the mat, back to the fire.
“I can’t believe I’m doing this.” She said as she maneuvered herself to rest as close to the edge as she could.
“That would make two of us.” Shinobu agreed, shifting unde the covers herself to get into a more comfortable position.
“Hey, you’re getting on my side.” (Y/n) warned.
“Am not.” Shinobu denied.
“Are too. You are definitely trying to sap up what little body heat I have left.”
“Oh please, I wouldn’t purposely touch you with a five foot pole.”
“Can you be quiet? I’m trying to sleep.”
“If you want it to be quiet, then stop talking and wiggling around.” Shinobu countered.
She always had to have the last word, didn’t she? Well, (Y/n) was truly too exhausted to even think of something to say in retaliation and fell asleep before she could say another word. Shinobu didn’t last much longer, letting the sound of the wind rattling the old cabin and the warmth gathering under the blanket lull her back to sleep.
When Shinobu awoke, she was disoriented. A quiet sobbing beside her, a shuddering and fast beating be earth her ear and cheek, she finally lifted her head up to look down at what had woken her, finding that she and (Y/n) must’ve gravitated towards each other for warmth as they slept because Shinobu had resting nearly on top of her.
She could see tear tracks illuminated by the dying firelight and how badly (Y/n) shook, how upset her murmured whined and sobs sounded. Safe to say it wasn’t because of the cold.
“(Y/n)-san, wake up.” Shinobu attempted to wake her, but with little success. “It’s just a dream.” She reached out, putting a hand on her damp cheek.
(Y/n)’s eyes shot open and she lurched up to a sitting position with a heavy gasp for air. Shinobu put her hand on her back, feeling each heaving breath and sob. She waited for (Y/n) calm down, subconsciously rubbing her back in an attempt to soothe her and bring her back into the present sooner.
“Are you alright?” She asked.
“Fine.” (Y/n) croaked.
“That seems like an obvious lie.”
“What do you expect me to say? There’s nothing that can be done about it. Just have to deal with it the way I have been every other night.”
“This is a reoccurring nightmare then. For how long?” Shinobu inquired.
“A little over a year now. I don’t want to talk about it with you.” (Y/n) answered a bit testily.
“If these dreams have been plaguing you whenever you close your eyes, then you should talk about it.”
(Y/n) didn’t answer and Shinobu’s eye twitched. Here she was trying to be kind and supportive, but (Y/n) was totally blowing her off!
“Ow!”
(Y/n) slapped away Shinobu’s hand when she reached out to pinch her.
“Talk to me.” Shinobu commanded.
“No—ow!”
Shinobu pinched her again.
“Talk to me.” She demanded again.
“I’m not gonna— stop!”
“I’m trying to understand you, trying to help you. Talk.”
“This is not how people show that!”
Shinobu went to pinch her again, but (Y/n) grabbed her wrist. Then Shinobu went for her with her other hand, but that was also caught in a clumsy grip. Then a struggle ensued. They twisted and wrestled, shoving at each other, trying to gain the upper hand.
“Get off of me!”
“No!”
Shinobu was in too deep to give up now, as had often been the case in those last few hours. She kept sitting on (Y/n)’s back, not letting up until (Y/n) finally had enough.
“Fine! Just get off and give me a minute!”
Shinobu obliged, getting off of (Y/n) to get some fresh snow to melt into more tea. The storm wasn’t as bad as it had been initially, but traveling still wouldn’t be a great idea.
When she set the pot of snow on the re-stoked fire, she sat beside (Y/n), waiting for her to speak. Finally, she spoke,
“You remember Sayo? My friend who was with me during Final Selection.”
Shinobu nodded stiffly, already sensing where this was going.
“She was killed taking an attack that was meant for me.” (Y/n) explained, not looking up from her lap.
“I tried to save her but…” she shook her head, the state Sayo had been in would always be fresh in her mind but she did not want to speak of the details.
“I’m sorry. I know you two must have been close.” Shinobu was no stranger to loss, especially when it came to people that were close to her.
“The last thing she told me was how she always admired my confidence and optimism. She told me I gave her the courage to make it as far as she did. So,” she took in a shuddering breath, “I’m always motivated to give my all and look on the bright side of things. When it comes down to it, you never really know how much time you have left, so you should always strive for the best outcome no matter the odds. You shouldn’t give up before you even start.”
Shinobu gave short hum of understanding. Eyes downcast to the crummy tea she had brewed. She offered the pot to (Y/n). She quietly thanked her and took a few sips.
“It seems like optimism might just be another form of defiance the way you do it.” Shinobu spoke when (Y/n) gave her back the pot. “Meanwhile, I use my pessimism as a shield. If I expect the worst then it doesn’t hurt as much when all goes wrong.”
“Does that really help?”
“…no.” Shinobu murmured, surprised by her own honesty.
(Y/n) groaned loudly and flopped back onto the bedroll.
“We’re messed up.” She declared while she stretched.
Shinobu released a short breath of amusement and returned under the covers herself.
“Speak for yourself.”
They slowly gravitated towards each other, neither bringing up how their hands brushed as they found comfortable positions. They managed to fall back to sleep huddled against each other. Each feeling closer to the other, and not just because of physical proximity. They had gained a much better understanding of each other now. Maybe they weren’t as incompatible as they had previously thought.
***
(Y/n) awoke pleasantly warm and not with a gasp or a cry as she so often did. Maybe Shinobu had a point when she made her talk about Sayo. Speaking of, she was much too close.
(Y/n) attempted to untangle from Shinobu, but she kept clinging on. She was not willing to lose (Y/n)’s warmth it would seem. However, they both needed to get up. If the absence of noise outside was anything to go by, the storm must have passed. They could get off of this mountain and part on good terms. It felt oddly nice. Really good actually.
“Kochou, wake up. The blizzard has passed. We should get moving.”
Shinobu made a displeased sound that made (Y/n) chuckle, then she rolled over and worked herself up to her knees, shivering when the blanket slide down her shoulders.
“I can’t wait to get home.” She said, covering her mouth to hide a yawn.
If you roll down the mountain, you’ll get there in no time.”
“Yes, just not in one piece.” Shinobu scoffed, though she did smile.
“I’d carry you back, don’t worry about it.” (Y/n) teased further.
When they managed to pry the door open, there were greeted by at least three feet of snow. They trudged to the nearest tree to avoid the fatigue that would come if they continued walking and continued navigating their way down from the tree line.
The sky was still blocked out by clouds, but judging by how light it was, it had to be mid-morning, early afternoon. As they hopped from tree to tree, they conversed casually until (Y/n) stopped suddenly.
“Do you feel that?” She asked.
“Feel what?”
“Like something is watching us.” She shivered, “something’s marking my skin crawl.”
“You’re probably just cold. Let’s keep moving.”
“Alright.”
(Y/n) tried to let it go, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was following them. They had only been sent to deal with a single demon… there couldn’t have been more, right?
Wrong. The truth of the matter was, where they assumed they had been sent on a joint mission, they were actually two separate ones. The demon Shinobu had been sent to deal with was still very much alive.
A sudden wave of snow hit them from behind, knocking them from the trees to the shifting snow below them. They could feel the snow wrapping around them, trying to pull them under, but they managed to wriggle free, swords drawn.
“What is this?” (Y/n), cut the tendril of snow that was attempting to wrap around her ankle.
“A Demon Blood Art,” Shinobu swiped at the snow herself, “This demon is obviously more powerful than the one we encountered yesterday.”
“Damn it!”
“What?”
“I bet you totally stole my mission objective. This one has Hashira written all over it!” (Y/n) pouted, then grinned when Shinobu rolled her eyes.
“I suppose I’ll have to make it up to you later, but I’d like to deal with this first.”
“I’ll hold you too it!”
The snow swept away from their feet, trapping them in a dome. No doubt this would be the arena for their battle.
A heavy silence overtook them, only broken by the crunching beneath their feet as they settled into tighter stances.
Snow began peeling off of the dome and swirling around them, creating a blizzard around them. They were oh so tired of snow.
“It’s getting hard to see.”
“Just stay close and alert.” Shinobu advised, “It’s sure to attack using the snow as its cover.”
Shinobu pivoted quickly on her foot at the first sign of movement, stabbing through a snowball that had been thrown her way. A distraction. She quickly corrected, her thin blade scraped heavily against claws.
“So fast!” (Y/n) tried to swipe at the demon but it quickly melted back into the snow with a sinister growl.
Shinobu sheathed her sword, switching poisons. She would need something stronger since the demon didn’t recoil from the faint scent of wisteria on her blade.
(Y/n) and Shinobu blocked every attack, making the demon lose patience. The storm within the dome seemed to be getting stronger with every thwarted attack. Suddenly a coppery scent permeated the air. Shinobu turned, worried (Y/n) had gotten hit, but it had been a self inflicted wound on the part of the demon wanting to strengthen its art.
Snow encased Shinobu’s ankle and before she could shake it off, it became ice. The snow that had been thrown at them became sharp shards of ice, making every block that much more important. Shinobu stabbed the ice around her foot in an attempt to free it. As she did, (Y/n) covered her, deflecting the ice that came sailing in. When she freed herself, Shinobu went on the offensive, eventually catching the demon with the unsurpassable speed of one of her strongest breathing techniques.
The demon fell to the ground, the snow dome fell around them, it seemed like the fight was over.
“I’d tell you that was a nice hit if I could have followed your movements at all.” (Y/n) teased, though she was very impressed.
“If it wasn’t for this frigid weather I would have finished it even faster.” Shinobu preened. She could tell (Y/n) was impressed with her and it made her feel unexpectedly giddy.
(Y/n) went to say something else, but the smile quickly faded from her face. Shinobu opened her mouth to ask what was wrong, but she found herself being swiftly shoved aside, a pained cry ringing in her ears.
“What…?” Shinobu’s eyes wildly flitted between the demon, still hanging on to life by the skin of its teeth and (Y/n), pierced through the torso by a large icicle.
Red hot anger boiled within Shinobu. She stabbed the demon again, hastening the affects of her poison. She did not turn away again until she was sure it was dead, then she ran to (Y/n)’s side, commanding her to stay conscious.
“(Y/n), why did you do that?!” Shinobu’s voice was low, still boiling with anger and helplessness as she took stock of just how bad the situation had become.
(Y/n) tried to talk, but found herself unable to get anything intelligible out. The shock of the large protrusion through her chest too prevalent for her to hold a conversation.
“You stupid, stupid girl!” Whether Shinobu was referring to herself or (Y/n) was anyone’s guess.
What could she do? What could she do? They were still a ways up the mountain and with the treacherous terrain, Shinobu was certain they wouldn’t make it down before (Y/n) succumbed to her injury.
No. Shinobu thumped her fists against her thighs. She wasn’t going to give up before even trying. (Y/n)’s life was in her hands and though the situation was not at all ideal, she had to at least try. There was a Wisteria House near the base, she wouldn’t have all the tools she would have at home, but it was much too far away for such a time sensitive manner.
“Stay awake, just stay awake for me.” Shinobu begged.
She left (Y/n) momentarily, moving at Mach speed back to the cabin. She wiggled the door free from its slide socket and laid it on the ground. Then she went inside to grab the old blanket and some rope she had remembered seeing in the corner. With her new items in hand, she rushed back to (Y/n), startling her awake.
“What did I say about sleeping?” Shinobu grunted, pulling (Y/n) to rest sideways on the door, “Don’t you give up on me.”
She tied the rope to the door and curled the blanket over (Y/n)’s lower half. She noticed that the icicle was melting and again she felt hopelessness seep into the forefront of her mind. She shook her head.
“Stay awake, We’re going to make it, just stay with me.”
Then Shinobu began dragging the makeshift sled behind her down the mountain. It was not easy. Her negative thoughts were fighting her just as much as the terrain, but she refused to quit.
She made it to the base just before nightfall, muscles aching, hands freezing from never letting go of the rope for even a second. At the Wisteria House she found En waiting for her along with the family of the House. She sent the bird to her home with a list of supplies she would need should the initial surgery go well.
She ordered the Wisteria House residents around, prepping (Y/n) and a room for the risky surgery she was about to attempt.
***
She had done it.
(Y/n)’s breaths were coming stronger everyday. Shinobu had been worried when a small I get ion bloomed from the debris in melted ice, but she had taken care of it quickly in the days following the several hours long surgery.
The Kakushi came with the items she requested, ensuring (Y/n) would make it out of this with but a scar on her chest and back. The recovery would still be a long endeavor of course, but she could continue being a demon slayer once recovery training was completed.
When it was safe to do so, the Kakushi and Shinobu took (Y/n) back to the Butterfly Estate. Shinobu made sure to tell the Wisteria House residents just how thankful she was for their help. She had been really looking forward to getting home.
When Shinobu got home, the girls almost questioned who really was the one to get hurt so badly. Shinobu looked like a wreck visibly exhausted and frostbitten. They all but pushed her into her bedroom. They could take care of (Y/n) from there, it was time for Shinobu to take care of herself.
When (Y/n) awoke, Shinobu’s energy seemed to come back tenfold and everyone took notice. No one had ever heard of this friend of Shinobu’s before, but they must have been close for her to be so happy. They thought Shinobu was goinng in to hug her, but were surprised when her fingers took hold of (Y/n)’s cheeks instead, pinching her harshly with a dark smile.
“Don’t ever do anything like that again. Do you hear me?”
“‘M shorry! Rhet go! Ah!” (Y/n) rubbed her cheeks while Shinobu continued to yell at her for the next twenty minutes.
The girls hadn’t seen her so visibly upset in a long time. It was quite a shock, but also strangely sweet to watch them bicker.
Shinobu took care of (Y/n)’s recovery training personally. Another rarity to the girls because she was usually much to busy for the regimen. Even when they weren’t training, they were almost always together.
That was when the gossip began. And the gushing. And the bets… The Estate residents became very invested in the blossoming romance. Meanwhile, (Y/n) and Shinobu would talk about literally anything else than the elephant in the room, waiting for the other to make the first move.
There was still lingering doubt. They had only began getting along. It seemed too hasty to jump into a romantic relationship so soon, even though they really, really wanted to.
However, when spring came in full bloom it was becoming harder to keep the stares and lingering touches in check.
(Y/n) was itching to make a move, so she invited Shinobu to go for a walk with her. But walking with Shinobu was nerve wracking! She talked so softly and their hands kept brushing. (Y/n) commented on the beauty of a flower along the path and Shinobu agreed without even looking at it. Opting instead to keep her eyes on (Y/n) the whole time.
They had nearly made it back to the mansion and (Y/n) couldn’t muster up the courage to tell Shinobu her feelings. Usually she would just go for it, it was better to ask than to live with regret haunted by what-ifs. But given where they started, she was afraid of losing all the progress they had made.
“You’ve been quiet today.“ Shinobu observed, turning off of the path to the mansion to another trail, motioning for (Y/n) to follow her.
“Aren’t you usually asking me to shut up?” (Y/n) attempted to joke, heart beating fast as she realized she had been caught acting weird.
“I have never once told you to shut up.” Shinobu rolled her eyes, “I may have told you to be quiet because I was reading or writing something important on occasion, but that’s all. Now tell me what’s on your mind.”
(Y/n) swallowed thickly.
“Just making up songs in my head.”
“What are the words.” Shinobu was on the attack now.
“No words. Just sounds.”
“Hum it for me then.”
(Y/n) floundered, flustering further when Shinobu laughed at her.
“You could just ask to kiss me and I’d let you, you know. I don’t know why you have been getting cold feet all of the sudden. Aren’t you supposed to be the optimist?” Shinobu asked bluntly, turning to stand in the middle of the path, blocking (Y/n) from walking any further.
“Well, do you want to?” Shinobu prompted again while (Y/n) stood too stunned to speak.
She gave a jerky nod and Shinobu giggled, waiting for (Y/n) to step closer.
She took so long to get in position that Shinobu took matters into her own hands, pulling her the rest of the way in. When she finally pulled away to breathe, she had the biggest grin on her face.
“See, now that wasn’t so hard, was it?” She took (Y/n) by the hand, pulling the lovestruck girl along the trail.
She only stopped when she felt a resistance to her pull. Worried she had gone too far, she turned to ask (Y/n) what was wrong, only to find another kiss waiting for her which she happily accepted.

Ten Facts About Ulannium Kaarz
I wasn’t actually tagged to do one of these for Ulannium, but I started putting this together as a sort of case-study for him, and it seemed to make sense to do this. Tagging the following people just in case they want to do this for one of their own OCs: @raven-of-domain-kwaad @anchanted-one @actualanxiousswampwitch @grandninjamasterren @sullustangin @cyraniadebergerac @starrypawz @intheinkpot @voidendron @lanabenikosdoormat @dragons-bones @clifford-telegenic @cryo-lily
Tumblr media
Fact One – Parentage and Early Childhood: Ulannium Kaarz was born on Coruscant, the son of Ishris Kaarz, his mother, a brilliant research scientist with a Republic pharmaceutical conglomerate, and Luncib Kaarz, his father, a marketing executive and lobbyist with the same company. Both of his parents were very affectionate, Ishits especially. Although she worked long hours, his mother always made time for her son at bedtime, first by singing him Mirialan lullabies, and later by reading to him, fictional stories at first but later more advanced texts such as scientific manuals. Years later, Ulannium would credit his mother’s efforts (and her genetics) with the development of his impressive intellect. By chance, Ulannium’s Force sensitivity was not discovered until he was already six years old. (Possibly a result of his mother’s interference in the screening process.) By then, he was already academically precocious in the extreme, devouring books far beyond his age-level. When he was selected by the Jedi and told he might one day gain access to the full wealth of the Jedi Archives, Ulannium was thrilled at the opportunity. Indeed, if he had an ambition at this point, it would have been to spend the rest of his life in the galaxy’s greatest library. Ulannium had a younger sister, Tharia, who was possibly even more curious about the universe than he. As she was four at the time, he regarded her as a pest who kept stealing his scientific holopads. When the Jedi tested her for Force-sensitivity, it came back negative, much to the relief of her parents who were already giving up a son.

Fact Two – Inspirations: One of my inspirations for the character of Ulannium is George Smiley from John le Carré’s Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. When he does finally confront someone, whether an enemy or even an ally whom he’s trying to persuade, he brings the full force of his intellect to bare on them, and people often find it as overpowering as a force of nature. Ulannium is remarkably proficient at understanding and analyzing most of the people he encounters, including some who others find enigmatic. (Such is the case with Corellan Halcyon. Ulannium understands the Hero of Tython far better than someone like Satele Shan, at least earlier in the story.) On the flip side, a select few people are something of a mystery to Ulannium, and throw him off entirely. (This was the case with Zenith.) Another character who inspired me was Vaegon Targaryen, a minor character from George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. He could have done a hundred things, including becoming the King. He preferred his books, however.
Fact Three – Growing up on Uphrades: To avoid potential contact with his family on Coruscant, the Jedi sent Ulannium to their small enclave on the agricultural world of Uphrades. It was a small training cadre; two semi-retired Jedi Masters and eight younglings. To discourage unhealthy attachments amongst the younglings, they were arranged on a tiered-age system. The oldest of the younglings would be around fourteen and would be considered on the precipice of their initiate trials to become Padawans. The next-oldest would be a year or two younger than the eldest, and so on down the line until the youngest child, who would be around four or five. With the age difference, it was hoped that the younglings would be less likely to adopt detrimental attachments to each other.
Tumblr media
Fact Four – First Friendship: Two years after Ulannium arrived on Uphrades, the next youngling was sent. The younger child seemed untalented and almost Force-blind to Ulannium, who by then was already demonstrating an impressive sensitivity to the Force. But as the Masters were unwilling to give up on him yet, when he turned six, he was handed a training saber. Within a week, he had surpassed every other youngling in combat, even those twice his age. Within a year, no two initiates could match him. Even Master Sagottoh, once a Blademaster of the Order in his younger years, soon found himself pressed. This youngling - one age tier below Ulannium - was named Corellan Halcyon. When they first met, Ulannium himself thought the youngling was untalented and barely worth his notice. Later, when his martial capability manifested, Nowan Ko Detizu realized that Corellan needed Ulannium’s help to acclimate to the other children, most of whom were intimidated by the young firebrand. The bond the two developed would last them the rest of their lives. In recognition of this reality and her responsibilities, when Ulannium was ready to become a padawan, Nowan Ko’s report to the council would advise them not to assign the two to work together, which is why they were kept separated for the next eight years. Although they were both disappointed, both would ultimately conclude it had been the right thing to do.
Fact Five – Tragedy: When the Sack of Coruscant took place, Ulannium was still far away on Uphrades, reading a text on archaeology. He recalls feeling a deep sense of foreboding in the pit of his stomach, but as he was unable to determine what it was, he soon resumed reading. A few days later once the reports had come in, the Uphrades Masters regretfully informed him that his family had been killed during the attack when falling debris had collapsed on them on the street. The youngling showed little reaction at first, then finally announced his intention to head off to find solitude to meditate. The masters, decided that he needed time to process what had happened, let him. Corellan, recognizing that he needed friendship, pursued him and talked. [I may write about that encounter someday.]
Tumblr media
Fact Six – Personality: One of Ulannium’s personality quirks is his tendency to answer a question with a question. This is sometimes a defensive mechanism, and sometimes simply a way to get an individual to rethink their position diplomatically. In the normal flow of conversation, he does this skillfully enough that people rarely even notice. He picked up this particular quirk from Master Nowan Ko Detizu, one of his mentors back on Uphrades. The Cathar Jedi taught him a multitude of simple techniques that aid him in his day-to-day life as a Jedi, diplomat and sometime political and military leader.
Fact Seven – Traits: By the time the class stories begin, Ulannium is already an expert in the fields of biology, archaeology, geology and history, and could probably have earned a master’s degree in any of those areas if given the time and inclination to do so. Although he was appropriately honored to meet the esteemed members of the Jedi Council, he was most excited to meet Gnost-Dural, as the Kel Dor had, by then, been named the Keeper of the Jedi Archives. Ulannium definitely has a strong interest – some might even say a passion – for ancient Force knowledge and would live in the Jedi Archives if he could. One of the most difficult decisions he ever faced was rescuing Laria Taphoni on Taris, effectively sacrificing the holocron the expedition team had found. In making his choice, Ulannium was guided by the principles of the Jedi code and recognizes that it was the correct decision, but nevertheless he had to meditate for a long while to process everything that happened. Although he recognizes that Rajivari’s teachings ran contrary to the Jedi code and had corrupted many ancient Jedi, Ulannium never quite forgot what he had learned of it. He wishes he had spent more time with the fallen Je'daii Master to learn where things had gone wrong.
Tumblr media
Fact Eight – His Relationship with Nadia Grell: Ulannium doesn’t believe in concepts like “love at first sight”. But when he met Nadia, he generally became more protective of her innocence. Eventually, those feelings evolved into romantic impulses, but even in their early days together, he was somewhat distracted. That was one of the reasons he didn’t immediately pick up on Nadia’s force-sensitivity, which he would have normally understood right from the get-go. As a side note, his relationship with Nadia develops very differently in my story than in the game and does not progress until after she is Knighted almost three years after becoming his Padawan. As a fluffy note, To date, Nadia is the only person who has ever called him “Uli”. She’s usually discreet about the practice, but she did actually let it slip in front of Felix Iresso on one occasion. Ulannium was embarrassed, Nadia was aghast, and Felix was amused.
Fact Nine – Joining the Alliance: After Ulannium and the rest of the Ossus colony rejoined the rest of the galaxy (lining up with the Jedi Under Siege expansion from the canon story), he and Nadia became honorary members of the Eternal Alliance, with Ulannium serving as the Alliance’s liaison with the Council. The Council - when it eventually reformed - did not formally condone or condemn this relationship; they simply pretended that they didn’t know it existed, despite it becoming common knowledge by that point. [Note: This mirrors Revan’s post-KOTOR relationship with Bastilla in the “Revan” novel.] Far from being past his prime after joining the Eternal Alliance, Ulannium achieved some of the most impressive efforts of his career as the Alliance’s top diplomatic negotiator, writing much of the treaty that Corellan and the Alliance would eventually sign with the Galactic Republic. But arguably the most impressive feat of his career was the negotiation of the Treaty of Alderaan, a pact that ended nearly twenty years of civil war and internal discord. Leading the Alliance’s diplomatic corps, one of Ulannium’s top deputies would be the Killik Joiner and former Imperial diplomat and Intelligence operative, Vector Hyllus. Ulannium learned a great deal of respect for Hyllus and his capabilities, which was reciprocated by the Joiner.
Fact Ten - His Legacy: Some years joining the Alliance, he and Nadia had their first child: Maykia Ishris Kaarz. She is named for both of her grandmothers; Maykia on Nadia’s side and Ishris on Ulannium’s. She’s a couple of years younger than Bela and Tasiele, who are friends of hers who I’ve spoken about elsewhere. Her childhood was complicated to say the least, but she eventually fully joined the Jedi order on her own terms as she began adulthood. She wields a double-bladed lightsaber as her mother did, albeit she’s not a true Jedi Shadow. [Note: Maykia is part of the “Future Halcyon Legacy” I’ve been putting together. ]
Tumblr media
Thousands of years later, Teela Kaarz, one of Ulannium’s descendants, would be conscripted to work on the construction of the Death Star. Teela and a group of Rebel recruits fled the doomed space station before it exploded. [Novel: Death Star ]

don't know if you're taking a break on this blog, but your posts have helped me a lot and there is – ironically, i am sure some would say – something comforting in your writing and in the ways you express yourself. you have mentioned multiple times about your decision to remove from your life women who do not add anything to it. my question is: regarding relationships with women (platonic or not), how do you deal with loneliness?
i have always been a very introverted person, partially because i always knew there was something wrong with this world, even before i could name it. the more i grow, though, and the more i learn, my loneliness grows with me. it really does feel sometimes like we're the only ones in the fucking planet. the chances of us meeting one another are almost insignificant. i always knew men were empty but now i have to admit to myself that also every woman i know, see and talk to is a walking corpse. i am not interested in romance (i am a lesbian but too fucked up about sex itself and its implications), but part of me still wants friendship, in a way that my younger self did not.
is this also a thing you feel, from time to time? something you have encountered before?
As always, I am happy to know that my writing is helpful or even comforting in some way :) I know that these are some heavy topics I talk about on my blog and proving that they are not necessarily hopeless is what I care about. I am not on a break right now and I have actually been writing a lot lately, it's just that none of it is enough to wrap up even a single answer and I have been very frustrated by that. I'm still working on answering the messages in my inbox, even if it is something that was sent to me months ago, so please be patient with me.
Regarding loneliness, the truth would be that I'm a very solitary person and I tolerate loneliness or even isolation extremely well, to the point where I'm hesitant to give advice on how to deal with it to someone who is only slightly more sociable. I would be lying if I said that coming to certain realizations about women did not make me feel alienated at first because it did, and I used to be heavily bothered by the fact that the number of women who I had the potential to get along with was much smaller than I had anticipated, but ultimately I felt great relief after allowing myself to recognize that most women were harmful for me to be around and that I no longer had to pressure myself into socializing with them. The more pressing issue I was dealing with at the time was a "certain" ideology making me feel like I was stuck up or bigoted for wanting to distance myself from something that was clearly damaging to me, especially anything that involved obvious abuse and coercion. "Stuck up" for maintaining boundaries, figure that... Shutting down this line of thought alone was enough for me to start getting better and to move on to building connections that were actually productive for me.
I think that dealing with loneliness starts with discerning whether it is a temporary thing for you or a personal quality. You already mention being introverted, but I would take it even further and really allow myself to consider that it could be a genuine preference. Being confident in your introversion is a big deal because I know how unwell the world can make you feel for not being outgoing and how much people pathologize it! I myself used to wonder if my reclusiveness was some kind of trauma response that would go away once I met the right company and was more at peace with myself, which made me feel and act desperate when I look back at it. Nowadays I get a lot of positive interactions on here and I am on much better terms even with people in real life because I no longer get as frustrated by their worldview, but I still find myself in my own company more often than not because not being overtly social is where I am at my best.
With that said, I would not be where I'm at without my current friend circle and I genuinely attribute my mental stability to the friends I've made over the past year. I used to feel extremely unheard and alienated due to my fringe worldview and, having met like-minded people, this kind of isolation is just not something I struggle with anymore. To answer your actual question, I resolved my loneliness by making friends online and by recognizing that my social needs are met through less outgoing activities, like playing multiplayer games or curating an online blog; I was not going to figure this out without acknowledging that I am as reserved as I have always thought myself to be first, which is why I mention making peace with your introversion in the previous paragraph. Even if you end up being discontent with anything other than a long-term real-life friendship, talking to people online is still a good starting point that will give you a general idea for what it is like to be around someone with a similar outlook. I did feel infinitely better after connecting with like-minded women on social media (actually messaging them and interacting with their posts, not just reading or liking them) and it is one thing I recommend doing.
How weak or strong your sense of isolation is really depends on how far you are into coming to terms with the reality of this world's dynamics and there is a very high chance that you will be inconsolable at first, even with the right people in your life. I remember feeling down well into newfound friendships simply because such a major worldview shift was a lot to take in and I suggest not giving up on building connections with people even if it feels like nothing is working out for you. All in all, I choose to build friendships with like-minded women on the internet while maintaining more impersonal contact (professional or otherwise) in real life and I prefer to keep it that way.

Hi hi!
So I don't know if you take requests or not but if you do I have one for you!!
How about Hatbox ghost (movie or not doesn't matter) with a medium s/o. They are like Madam Leota but more in touch with the spirit world since they've studied more and are a wee but adventurous.
They can also get into the minds of other people but getting in a tub filled with ice and water blindfolded kinda like El from Stranger things.
I hope this isn't overwhelming and if I can't request anything that's fine! Just thought I'd try! :)
❤️ anon
Oh wow hi anon! You're actually my first ask! I know I haven’t really mentioned requests before since honestly I usually just take those on a case by case basis based on whether or not I can come up with something for it, but you were super sweet and polite and I have quite a few ideas for this so I’ll give yours a shot 👍 I just hope you don’t mind if I do it more headcanon style because I can’t really think of a way to make my ideas flow properly into a oneshot lmao. I’m honored that you thought of me, thank you!
Your powers were actually what initially led you to Alistair. Your sense of adventure always had you traveling from haunted site to haunted site, seeing what you could pick up on and who you could potentially meet, so when you noticed the mansion was vacant once again you immediately took the opportunity to go inside and check it out.
He was the first ghost you encountered in there, since he obviously got all excited and bloodthirsty when he realized another mortal got caught up in his trap. As you can imagine at first he wasn’t all that friendly. In his eyes you were just another soul to claim, although he did quickly catch on that there was more to you than what meets the eye.
That just convinced him to up the ante on his mind games even further, he did some of the scariest things he could think of, sent out all the most erratic ghosts after you, all that jazz, but it just completely failed lmao. Instead you just ate that shit up. You were searching for wild ghost encounters? Well now you certainly have them.
Alistair was so annoyed with it at first but you eventually grew on him. He saw a bit of himself in you. You had that same curiosity for the morbid and mystical that he once did when he was younger.
Which is why he maybe even starts to teach you some of what he knows. I’m sure he has some like ancient books hiding around somewhere (even if his reading skills are… questionable…) that were lost to time and never published in modern day that taught you all sorts of new things. Although he was more so into the dark arts aspect of things which can obviously have repercussions, so maybe it’s best if you skip over the blood sacrifices for now… or don’t, who knows. That’s for you to decide ;)
However, as much as he’s intrigued by your talent, he also looks out for you. Theres no hiding that you can be just a little reckless and over ambitious sometimes and may not always properly protect yourself. That can lead to very bad things, as he would know, he was summoned into the mansion for that very reason. So if by any chance the time ever comes, he will make sure no dark entity ever crosses you. This guy can seriously mess somebody up-
As for the emotional mind reading aspect of things, Alistair’s bad at showing and communicating his feelings most of the time. His dad kind of enforced that into him. Sometimes you’ll have to use your abilities to be able to fully understand how he’s feeling when he can’t articulate it himself. You don’t always have to go full sensory deprivation, sometimes it can be as simple as closing your eyes and clearing your thoughts, but he can also bury some stuff REALLY deep down that would require you to really ground yourself to get into his mind. He does appreciate it though, it allows you both to empathize with one another even when he can’t easily be open.
I had another thought that kind of goes along with this. Now if reader’s a REALLY good medium, like able to connect all the way to the region beyond type of really good medium, there could be a time where you might reach out to his mom for him. Only if he’s ready for it of course. Theres a lot that’s changed since they’ve last seen each other. And, I like to headcanon that when he was mortal and participating in occult, he would sometimes secretly go off alone and try to contact her, but it would never work. You may very well finally be his chance to do that again. He sobs like a baby during the conversation but it’s very healing and it ties up a lot of loose ends on his side. Sometimes if he’s having a really hard time, you’ll offer to try and reach her for him so they can talk, since his mom is the only person he really has ever felt completely 100% safe around.
I hope that kinda fit what you were thinking of anon! Thanks for popping in ❤️

Thoughts about the angsty Tango AU—
How long has Tango been captured for? If he was captured when he was younger would he have known how to read and/or write? How would he have learnt his redstone?
What made Tango want to escape? Like was he taken forcefully from his home and wants to return, or he can’t stand the tumblr sexy man ‘Doctor’ Atlas anymore?
Tango was successfully made to be a farm and ‘Doctor’ Atlas was talking something about investment. So more money to capture more people to become a farm or more money for more research to brainwash the player to become something like a robot to provide resources? That would be dark…
Were there other players who became farms? I’m pretty sure that with the success of Tango, Hels Tek would have wanted to expand. So enderpearl farms? Gold farms? Villager trading halls? Man the potential of Hels Tek is huge.
If thought 4 is correct, does Tango know about them?
And yeah that’s all my thoughts so far. Ill probably come up with a few more as the AU descends to it’s angst :D
OOOOO lots of things to consider here! number 1 will take a bit of explanation for how i headcanon minecraft to work, as a fictional universe. so the way i’ve envisioned it is that all players (ie. sentient humanoids that can respawn) are spontaneously spawned in their home worlds around the age of a small child (but not an infant, kinda like villagers LMAO). then they mature up to a certain point in adulthood before their physical growth kinda plateaus and stops? (like vampires HAH) so that’s how you have ‘ancient’ players like etho who still appear young.
for tango, he was spawned in hels and spent his ‘childhood’ kinda running amok and getting into trouble, like any hels kid (i view hels as basically an anarchy server, so there’s no infrastructure in place to take care of newly spawned players). he took an early interest in redstone and started fiddling with contraptions as a young teen. he was probably an older teen when he first encountered hels tek, and they didn’t actually take him by force. it’s a more complex story that i’ll save for another day 👀
2. tango wants to escape purely because of how miserable life at hels tek is. he’s trapped in a little 1x2 block enclosure, constantly experiencing both wither effect and regen, having his blaze rods farmed, and even occasionally dying. and the malicious treatment by the scientists certainly doesn’t help!
3. after the success of their tango tek farm, hels tek is definitely interested in doing research for more hybrid-sourced farms. their next goal is to fund a large-scale expedition across hels to locate and capture any player that’s a mob hybrid and potentially useful, and then develop farms for them (hence the need for investors who can provide resources and manpower).
4. tango is the first (and as of right now, the only) player that hels tek developed a farm for. once he escapes, it’s not really a matter of the resources (his farm was so efficient, they have a virtually infinite supply of blaze rods). no, it’s more about what he represents- the promise of future farms. and without him there to demonstrate the proof of concept, they’ll have a hard time convincing investors to fund them. so hels tek is quite motivated to get tango back.
5. tango isn’t aware of hels tek’s future plans, and doesn’t care much to speculate. all he’s concerned about is the chance of them coming after him, which haunts him constantly.

Or, me gaining respect for Lightyear 🚀⏰
Disney works harder than the devil himself to keep the original Buzz Lightyear cartoon hidden from society. But maybe that's a good thing, I say as more and more I'm starting to see the movie in a different light.
One of the most common beats in the Toy Story franchise is the consistent struggles between Buzz and his identity. The 2022 movie follows up on this by a twist absolutely no one saw coming. But I see why it was done, and from a franchise POV it actually makes sense.
In the very first toy story Buzz believed himself to be an actual space ranger, much to the exasperation of Woody. Throughout the first half the poor cowboy tries to convince Buzz that he is not the character but a toy. Buzz refuses, insisting that he is a real ranger. In one scene he tries to fly but after failing he suffered an existential crisis
Tumblr media
Fortunately after an honest conversation with Woody, Buzz accepted the truth and helped to save the day.
In TS2, Buzz is shown to be more comfortable with his role as a child's toy. He even used Woody's iconic line to call him out for abandoning Andy. Along with an unexpected encounter with his counterpart, Buzz got a firsthand look at how ridiculous his actions were in TS1.
By the third movie, Buzz is willing to avvpt the jext stage kf his life: being part ol the preschool. Only for that to be shattered once he found out how rough children can be. As punishment for trying to escape, Buzz gets brainwashed by Lotso, effectively removing his identity&the freedoms that came with it. He becomes cold, obedient the perfect space ranger but without the moral code or his previous personality holding him back. Then he had to experience loss of memory & a different language&personality. He gets restored in the end, but under Lotso we saw Buzz at his worse; perfectly obedient, icy and serious.
The original Buzz Lightyear cartoon was lighthearted so a lot of moments played for laughs. Here, Buzz is content with his life as a ranger. Occasionally it gets him and his team into trouble. So attached to fighting evil, he even mistakes random blobs of ink for. Zurg! Then there's his tendency to kinda underestimate other's potential, like with Mira and Ty. And his complicated relationship with Warp who tricked him into believing he was his friend. Buzz often felt like a failure and didn't want anyone else to get hurt. Which is explored again twenty years later.
While the 2d cartoon paints a lighthearted picture, the 2022 movie deconstructs how harmful attaching your identity to a label is. Since Buzz wants to be a perfect space ranger he feels like a total failure if he doesn't reach high expectations. Everything comes to a head when he mets the face behind the robot. Himself.
Now this is actually where it starts making sense. Buzz has a history of meeting other versions of himself, all the back in 1999. There were a couple of episodes of the old cartoon where he fought his evil counterpart from another dimension. Then in one of the shorts he met a tiny version of himself.
Tumblr media
Just look at him! Isn't he a cutie?
So Buzz meeting an old man version is another example of theae occurrences. "Zurg" is weary, grizzled and yet still hold onto the hopes of changing his past. When he tries to persuade his younger counterpart to give him a precious power cell, Young Buzz refuses. He'd seen how His Alisha and their crew had settled into happy lives. He wouldnt have met her granddaughter Izzy and her teammates. They had accepted him not as this space hero but as a person deserving of his own life. In order for Buzz to truly embrace this lesson he had to take a good long look at himself and the misery his stubborn brought. He refuses to ruin everyone else's lives, and a new chance for himself. That's when Buzz actually became a true ranger. By finally allowing himself to embrace his humanity outside shallow labels.
Old Buzz fell from grace because he let one mistake consume him. He couldn't see himself outside of his career. His warped perception bleeds into his perception of others. Old Buzz thinks Alisha needed to be a ranger again, ignoring that she was content with her family. He turned on his younger self, and killed his own Sox, because since the latter two disagreed with him, they become a threat when all they did was disagree with him. Old Buzz desire to be the perfect ranger nearly ruined millions of lives. Young Buzz avoided because he chose to detach himself from his title and mistake and focus on being a person, his OWN person. He also gained the clarity to value his teammates as people not just talk over them to satisfy his ego.
Overall, I think we should give Lightyear credit for being consistent with the franchise exploration of Buzz's identity. It's not as wild or out there as we assume, it's just another take on Buzz and who he is. That he is more than just a space ranger, or a mistake or a children's toy. He is Buzz. And that's admirable.
Now how about we discuss how this movie was a thinly veiled Take That to the horrid mess that was Endgame Steve?

Hello WhoTalks! Hope you've taken your medicines if you needed any. Did Tanjiro tell the Rengokus about Tamayo, and if so, when? After all, he needed to give them solid hope that Sen could be turned back to human. What are their reactions to a vegetarian demon and her demon assistant of her own making are? How does Tamayo feel about another demon who managed to resist the hunger of flesh? How does Yushiro feel about them? How did the men tell Sen about his mother, and what did that change for him, seeing as he's been seeing her spirit guiding him from eating humans.
Yup, Tanjiro told Kyojuro about Tamayo’s mission for him prior to the mugen train arc because not only does he have a right to know but as a pillar surely he has higher chances of encountering the demon moons than he does (haha).
At the point Kyojuro is informed of Tamayo he has a sort of neutral reaction because seeing Senjuro makes him understand some demons can resist the urges they get as demons and regarding Yusiro willingly becoming one he does not approve by any means but since Yushiro is helping creating a cure for his younger brother, he keeps his disproval to himself. Shinjuro has the same sentiments as his son.
Tamayo is pretty pleased that there are multiple demons who have resisted the control of Muzan. She’s kicking herself a bit for giving into her demonic urges since such young children were able to resist Muzan but she swallows her guilt over the deaths she caused, something that she can do with relative ease with how much she’s had to do it.
Yushiro doesn’t particularly care as long as they don’t disrespect Tamayo. He likes Senjuro more than Nezuko just because they have similar work ethics and Senjuro can have an actual conversation with him and Tamayo about what resisting Muzan feels like.
It’s actually Shinjuro who tells Senjuro about his mother around the time Kyojuro is about to be cleared to return to being a demon slayer. He tells Senjuro and Kyojuro how proud their mother would be of them for their strength and bravery and how much of her he can see in them everyday. It’s a very surprising moment for Kyojurou especially since Shinjuro never talked about her ever since she died. He’s happy his father is starting to deal with her death much better and is able to talk about her to him and Senjuro.
Senjuro stopped seeing Ruka when he reunited with Kyojuro though Ruka only passed on to the afterlife when the Rengoku family is a proper family again.

bones spare some facts about nathan please 🤲
AAAAA THANK U NICO ;w;; i love talking abt my special little princess. my horrible little man. worm shaped final girl in horror movie. i'm shaking him and shaking him and shaking him and shaking him and sha
Tumblr media
nathan is my evil within oc (epic cringe fail moment but i'm being so brave about it) and he's around for the events of the second game :) he's a mobius agent who is sent with sebastian to assist him in his search for lily, but he's secretly also part of the plan with juli, myra, torres and theodore to actually get lily out of there >:)
nathan was um "recruited" into mobius at the age of 16 under Unpleasant Circumstances :/ won't go into great detail about it all because that requires some Warnings LMFAO but let's just say his parents were Horrible Horrible Terrible Horrible and he decided to Properly take care of the problem <3 his plan was to leave krimson city but before he could do that, mobius members showed up (the administrator had been eyeing him for a while already) and "recruited" him [classic case of Join Us Or Die]
he mostly did field work for mobius at first (slightly pulling this out of my ass but i'm assuming they needed to get themselves into powerful positions which would require Assassination of some Powerful Assets and Infiltration etc etc) but eventually switched over to a desk job at the administrator's request (i'm killing him) and started doing development work :) he was first assigned to ruvik's stem project but later got moved to another project which would become the union environment (which is why he wasn't around for the events of the first game)
nathan is a pretty good leader and he would often end up in that position for his assignments (ended up as lead developer as well at some point), which kind of. caused his coworkers to dislike him a lot LMFAO he was a lot younger than most people there and liked a job well done so he was very straightforward and focused on work and people didn't like that :/
before he goes with sebastian, he already briefly experienced the Horrors of the union environment after lily has gone missing because there's a brief window in which extraction is still possible so he went to check it out, got the living shit scared out of him and then went back out LMFAO and then he had to go back in immediately :( this is what i mean when i say he's my poor little meow meow i'm just putting him in Situations
nathan isn't all that scared of what's going on in there tbh but anima scares the SHIT out of him!!!!! he's very Professional and Stoic at first to the point sebastian doesn't like him all that much but then they encounter anima and nathan simply just passes away for personal reasons and sebastian is like Oh okay. so you DO have feelings
won't tell you anything about nathan's current relationship because it requires me to drop my own personal "the evil within 3" and i'm not doing that but i WILL tell you who his ex is. it's liam from the second game. go google him you'll Laugh
nathan goes from neutral evil to chaotic neutral throughout the course of the story >:) he starts out as someone who only keeps other people around for their practical use and completely detaches himself from others because of things that happened in his past and he doesn't want to experience Emotions anymore :// and then sebastian comes along and sort of turns into a father figure to nathan so everybody say thank you sebastian LMFAO
during the events of the second game he gets mowed down by the buzzsaw arm of the guardian :/ he's very dramatic about it i should redraw the art i made of the aftermath of that and post it here OGH
his birthday is january 5th <3 idk why i think i just liked the date <3 also he's 25 now LOL
nathan is an introvert and a pessimist <3 a little unpleasant to be around when you first meet him but if you give him another chance he's actually very very sweet and really makes an effort not to come over as cold or disinterested ;w; he's trying his best ok ;w;
he color codes his closet!! there's not much color to begin with but he still likes how organized it looks >:)
nathan prefers to sleep in a sitting position :/ he is very restless when he has to sleep lying down, he needs to like. lie on a bunch of pillows and everything LMFAO
and to finish all of this, i described his aesthetic in keywords at some point so have those as well: blood on marble floors, sleepless nights, crooked smiles, haunting memories, patience, dark circles around eyes, a shoulder to cry on, gray skies, the taste of alcohol and blood in your mouth, grief, working at 3am in a poorly lit room, solitude, endings, piercing eyes lurking in the dark, gentle touches, cheap motels by the highway, rain
AND last but not least, i also wrote some stuff for him here if you're interested!!! thank you so much again!!!!!!!! auauuauaua

At some point I need to go update my list of in progress fic requests, as I've started on the next one after taking a bit of a break from them.
I got a request for hartmon + using my ao3 card deck to generate the prompt, so I did a lot of card shuffling and ended up drawing two cards instead of just one. So now it's a Fantasy + Arranged Marriage fic. In which both Cisco and Hartley are running away from the same arranged marriage. ^_^
The first time Cisco went, an older woman ran the counter. She'd mentioned looking for someone younger she could start training to take over the business as she was getting too old and her own children had found their destinies elsewhere. Cisco suspected she'd been hoping he might know someone but, as he was new to Central City, there was no one he could recommend. But a young man, perhaps a year or so older than Cisco, was at the counter the next time Cisco went. And every time after that. Though Mildred was often there too, Hart Ratling was the handsome face Cisco saw the most of going forward.
The story opens with first Cisco and then Hartley running away - before they have a chance to actually meet - so they're getting to know each other with a fresh slate here.
I have other ideas for arranged marriage AUs for these two now, so... at the very least I will be writing down the gist of the ideas to allow some future me to write them.
I've also got another piece lined up for Flufftober. As my on again/off again Yu-Gi-Oh rewatch has continued, Duke has arrived. And I was reminded he had a... not so great first encounter with the group. While the show focused largely on Duke's bad treatment of Joey and his unwarranted grudge against Yugi (and I do like that he joins their group later, finally giving them a second defeat-means-friendship success after they succeeded with Mokuba and failed with Seto) and it's understandable since Joey was being forced to wear a dog suit and bark. But he also threatens to make Tea his unwilling cheerleader, so Duke was revealing all sorts of things about his kinks that day. (Look, Duke absolutely got to college, looked around at all the hot men and women on campus, and promptly discovered bisexuality.)
But while nothing actually happens to Tea, it's definitely a skeevy thing for her to deal with. Especially when not to long after there's the Johnny Steps encounter. Tea just accepts that this is how some guys treat her, no doubt because of her job at the diner, so I wanted to give her a chance to vent to someone who'd understand. Like Mai.
At sixteen, this probably wasn't even Tea's first encounter with entitled men thinking she owed them her attention because they thought she was pretty.  Duke probably wasn't even the creepiest, considering he was her age.  Older men were always so much more uncomfortable than the younger ones.
But her guy friends, while sympathetic... probably wouldn't understand why Duke's threats of forced cheerleader-ship would be so unnerving to a girl.  Boys, even the most well meaning of allies, rarely understood at the age of sixteen just how pervasive the threat of male entitlement really was in this world.
While Duke goes on to become a good friend to the group, Tea was probably warier of him than the others and for longer. I know I would have been in her shoes. But the fic itself is Tea and Mai getting some girl time just hanging out.

Warnings: brief injury description and R getting tipsy (and having less of a filter than usual 👀)
[ masterlist ]
Buy me a coffee ☕
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
"Nat you're not going to believe what I just saw! It has single handedly made my week- whoa!" You exclaimed as you threw your hands up and backed against the nearest wall.
"Who are you?" Demanded the blonde from the other end of her gun. You glanced frantically between her hand gun and her stone cold grey eyes, not knowing which you should be more afraid of.
"Y/n." You answered shakily, your mouth and throat suddenly feeling like sandpaper.
"Yelena!" Natasha shouted as she came into the living room. "Put your gun down you сумасшедшая сука (crazy bitch)!" Yelena hesitated as she gave you the once over and slowly lowered her weapon. You didn't fail to notice how she kept it in her hands until Natasha snatched it away.
"Hey!" She argued and tried to grab it back.
"You get gun privileges back when you stop pointing them at my friends." Natasha said as she put it in the safe under the kitchen counter.
"She didn't knock!" Yelena defended with a thick accent.
You were still stood awkwardly against the wall as you watched the interaction. You had no idea who the blonde was much less why she had acted like a paranoid guard dog. Not that you were offended, being friends with someone who had a lot of protective friends and coworkers meant this had happened more than you wanted to admit. JARVIS actually had some very over the top weapons pointed at you twice.
"I don't knock when I go to her place." Natasha pointed out. You smiled nervously at the blonde when she looked over at you again.
"Well as your new roommate it seems like something I should know."
New roommate? Natasha hated the idea of a roommate and had always been very vocal about it. It was why she insisted on having her own apartment rather than living in at the Avengers compound.
You glanced around and couldn't see any moving boxes or suitcases or really anything that indicated anyone else was living there. Either Yelena had already packed or she just wanted to keep all her personal things to herself.
"Temporary roommate." Natasha corrected making the blonde huff. "Who still hasn't gotten the groceries." Yelena mumbled something under her breath in Russian as she trudged towards the door. She glanced your way once then looked back as if second guessing you. She narrowed her eyes slightly and you fidgeted on the spot, feeling nervous under her gaze.
"What did you see?" She asked.
"I'm sorry?" You replied, not knowing where the question came from.
"What did you want to tell Natasha about." You stared at her blankly for a second before you suddenly realised what she meant.
"Oh! I saw a man walking seven ferrets." You said with a fond smile as you remembered the way their leads were getting caught up as the scrambled over each other. Yelena stared back at you. "Seven is a lot." You said. She still didn't seem to get it. "I like ferrets." You mumbled as you felt embarrassed.
She didn't say anything as she looked you over one more time and opened the door to leave, shutting it firmly behind her. You released a breath you didn't know you had been holding once the door clicked shut.
"Seven?" Natasha teased with a smirk as put some toast in the toaster. You grumbled as you walked over to the kitchen island and leant against it.
"She's intense." You commented and whipped your head around to the door, afraid she would walk back in.
"She's my sister." Natasha said casually.
"Sister? What?! Since when did you- Sister?!" Natasha chuckled at your reaction and shrugged simply.
"It's complicated."
"Everything with you is." You fired back. "Look I'll tell you our life story later." She waved off. You had known Natasha for years and considered each other your closest friends. You told her everything but you understood early on that there was a lot about her life she couldn't talk about. Whether it was because it could endanger you to know or it was simply to painful to recall, there would always be something.
"And I'm sorry about her wanting to shoot you. She's a lot." Natasha sighed, clearly tired. She had been away for months and you guessed she had found Yelena at some point during that mission. She had only been back a week and clearly needed a break. You wondered if she would finally take Fury up on his promise of a vacation.
"She's just protective." You shrugged. "Like someone else I know." You eyed the redhead with a smile. Yelena honestly seemed nothing short of terrifying to you, but you weren't going to admit that to your friend who would remind you of it every chance she got.
"Trust you to defend someone who put a gun on you." Natasha rolled her eyes and pushed a hot drink towards you.
"She seems nice." That wasn't the right word and given the look Natasha gave you she agreed. "Witty?" You tried. Natasha pulled a face in disagreement and you sighed in defeat. "Whatever, she's cute though." You thought aloud. Natasha shot you a warning look.
"Don't go crushing on my sister, y/n." She said with a serious edge to her tone. You laughed at her sudden shift and fell down on her sofa to grab the remote to start binging the shows Natasha had missed with you.
"I wouldn't dream of it."
*
It was a Friday night when you saw the blonde next. The bar you worked at was surprisingly quiet for the day but you didn't mind at all. Less people meant less chance of having to deal with a drunken fight. Not that that ever really happened there.
You worked in a small bar that had been running since long before you were born. It wasn't the most out there establishment and combined with it's location on the quieter, arguably more sketchy, parts of the city, it wasn't massively popular. In fact, everyone who showed up at the bar you recognised instantly, lest the rare groups of people who stumbled upon the building. No one who went there was all that talkative, but you had come to know each of them over the years.
It wasn't that the bar itself was sketchy. It wasn't involved in illegal gambling or drug dealings. It was just that it seemed to remind people of home. You had alcohols there that you just couldn't find in shops or other bars. Behind the bar was everything from Mexico's brightest palomas to Russia's strongest vodka. The latter was what had drawn Natasha to your worn down place of work the first time you met her. While she didn't like to be reminded of her past in Russia, like a couple other customers you had, she couldn't deny she missed the booze. So you guessed you shouldn't have been surprised to see Yelena joining her that night.
"Just give it a chance will you." Natasha scolded her younger sister in a hushed voice. You smiled at the encounter as the pair came towards the bar. Everything the redhead had been able to tell you about her time away was evident from the way the siblings interacted. It really hadn't taken them long to fall back into the squabbling sisters role, like they hadn't ever been apart.
Yelena grumbled something in Russian as she glanced around the bar, her eyes soon landing on yours and just as unreadable as the last time you saw her. The memory had been playing a lot in your head.
"Hi again." You smiled at her before turning your attention to your friend. "The usual?"
"For this one too." Natasha nodded to her sister as she sat down on a stall, soon followed by Yelena.
You took two shot glasses from the shelf and put them infront of the sisters and opened a bottle of Natasha's favourite bottle. You filled the both to the brim and put the bottle on the counter, knowing the redhead wanted it there. Natasha wasn't really a regular drinker, but when she did enduldge herself she didn't seem to have a limit. You had never once seen her drunk.
Natasha didn't hesitate in tilting her head back with the glass at her lips and didn't flinch when she swallowed the drink. Yelena rolled her eyes but copied anyway.
You carried on with drying some glasses and tried not to pay close attention to the blonde's reaction. You always loved the moment that customers realised they had found the drinks of their country. And as Yelena was harder to read, it took extra attention to detail to spot the moment of realisation. Natasha was watching for it too.
Yelena shrugged. She shrugged, clearly underwhelmed. "It's good." She commented. Natasha sighed dramatically and poured herself another shot as she grumbled about never being able to please her sister.
You went back to your duties properly and shook your head with a sigh. First time for everything. However when you risked a glanced at Yelena you saw a hint of a smile tug at the corner of her lips. You grinned to yourself, deciding then that you were determined to see a proper smile from the blonde at some point.
"What's got you smiling?" Natasha asked with a smirk.
"Am I not allowed to just smile, Tasha?" You quipped back.
"I take it your date went well." You groaned at the mention of the event.
"It actually really didn't." You huffed. It was actually one of the worst dates you had ever been on. You had been giggling like a school girl when Natasha told you a shield agent had eyes for you. The two of you exchanged numbers and arranged a date but it became clear to you pretty quickly she wasn't as ready to date again as she thought she was. "She's definitely not over her ex." She grimaced. Natasha hummed in thought.
"Okay, but do you want me to key her car?"
"She paid for my coffee!" You laughed, she always had to be dramatic with her protectiveness.
"Is that a no then?" Yelena asked. You honestly had no idea if she was joking or not.
"It's a no." You confirmed with a smile.
"I'm sure I can find you someone else." Natasha said confidently. You hummed in response and watched her pour another pair of shots.
"That's okay, Tasha. Maybe you should focus on yourself and a certain other redhead." You grinned. Natasha shot daggers at you as Yelena whipped her head around to stare at her sister.
"You have a boy..." She paused and scanned her sister quickly. "Girlfriend?" She concluded. You snickered and poured a drink for another customer, focusing on him momentarily as the pair bickered further.
"There is nothing going on with me and Wanda!" Natasha exclaimed.
"The magic one?" Yelena asked with interest.
"The magic one." You confirmed with a grin.
"What's she like?" The blonde continued as she leaned forward.
"She's better than you Сволоч (jerks)." Natasha mumbled as she rolled her eyes.
"And a total babe." You added and leapt back when the redhead went to hit you.
"Y/n!" You spun around at hearing a familiar voice. Joseph, your oldest regular, was making his way through the room towards the end of the bar, a fond smile etched into the deep lines on his face.
"Hey, pal." You smiled back and went to prepare his usual as he started to chat away at you.
"You never had anything with her?" Yelena asked boldly as she tilted her glass towards you.
"Y/n?" Natasha was surprised to say the least. She had never thought of you that way and no one else had ever asked about it. "No." She chuckled, thinking of all the times you had done everything in your power just to get her and Wanda alone in a room together. "Why'd you ask?"
"I just wondered." She said as she tapped her glass in thought, grey eyes watched you actively engage in conversation with the older man. Natasha narrowed her eyes at her sister.
"Right. Just don't crush on my best friend." She warned as she poured her sister another shot.
"You got it." She nodded and threw her head back as she downed the shot.
*
You ended up seeing Yelena quite frequently. Not only did she join Natasha in coming to the bar, but she seemed to always be there when you visited your friend too. She wasn't much of a small talker, you learned that quickly, but the passing moments you happened to be alone in each others company stopped being awkward quickly.
Yelena was surprisingly easy to get along with. Once you had found a common ground of interest (making fun of Natasha) you could easily carry a conversation with her, but she was still closed off - something you were expecting given her past. There was one evening that made that as clear as it could be.
"I'm just saying the Avengers would be very happy to have you!" Natasha exclaimed with a smile as you sat giggling next to her.
"I'm not going to be a hero." Yelena waved off. She had quickly began agitated when she had nothing to do. There had always been something. Some mission. Some test. Some important training. Anything. And now she was free from the Red Room Yelena was struggling to know what she could do. You could tell she wanted to have a meaningful role, you just doubted she was going to admit that.
"There's always bounty hunting." You suggested as you flicked through the thin file in your lap. Sometimes when Natasha was struggling with a particular case file she gave it to you for a new insight. You never got a name or any big details in the files and it still wasn't entirely within the rules, but sometimes you actually helped.
"He bled to death from the stabbing, then he was shot." You muttered to the redhead as you passed the file back. Turns out being a drop out med student was good for something. While Natasha was the best of the best, she was still human and there were things even she overlooked from time to time that you picked up on.
"That's a good one." Yelena agreed as she sipped on her beer, pondering the suggestion.
"But why even go for something like this at all?" You said. Natasha and Yelena gave you a confused glance.
"I'm sticking to what I'm good at." The blonde said slowly.
"I'm sure you're skill set expands beyond all...this." You waved your arms around aimlessly. "Was there anything you remember enjoying before?" You asked curiously and Yelena instantly stiffened.
"No." She said bluntly and put her bottle down on the table. "Bounty hunting sounds good, I'll look in to it." She said as she left the living room area and headed towards her room without a second glance.
Your throat felt dry suddenly as guilt washed over you. What kind of a question even was that? She was only a kid when it happened, part of you wondered if she even remembered the part of her life before the Red Room.
"She's okay." Natasha assured, as though reading your mind.
"I shouldn't have asked." You muttered.
"Probably not, but for what it's worth" Natasha started as she went to put the shield file away "I thought you were onto something."
So you never asked about her past again, but that didn't stop you from thinking about it. You wondered if it was something she and Natasha talked about, only able to confide in one another about the nightmares they shared. Or was it an unspoken thing, something that they kept in the deepest darkest parts of their minds? You didn't expect to ever get an answer to that question.
Not so deadly assassin: THERE'S A FUCKING RAT IN MY ROOM
Not so deadly assassin: come deal with it!!!
Not so deadly assassin: Y/N
Not so deadly assassin: oh NOW you have a life
Not so deadly assassin: if you don't come over in 5 minutes I'm killing it
You huffed as you took your phone out of your pocket to see who had been blowing up your phone. You skimmed over Natasha's messages and sent a quick threat telling her if she ended the rat's life you would end hers and sped up your walk.
Luckily you were only a few minutes away from Natasha's apartment and after running up the stairs a few at a time you knocked on your friend's door and licked your partly spilt drink off your hand with a curse.
Yelena opened the door and motioned for you to come inside, seeming unfazed by your arrival and no doubt knowing why you were there. "Is she okay?" You asked as you looked around frantically.
"She just got called away for a mission." Yelena said as she led you through the apartment to Natasha's room.
"I meant the rat." You mumbled and spotted it in the corner. Yelena snickered at your comment and leant against the door frame as she watched you slowly approach the rodent.
"How did it even get in here?" You asked as you cooed and held your hand out to the rat that considered you curiously.
"Came in through the window apparently. I think Natasha wants to tear down the fire escape now." Yelena deadpanned.
"Like either of you need it anyway." The rat came closer to you and sniffed your hand before walking onto it. You picked up the small creature and placed her down gently on the fire escape before shutting the window.
"Was that so hard?" You said with a smile.
"They carry disease, you know?" Yelena fired back.
"So do we!" You exclaimed and paused when Yelena gave you a side eye. "Okay some of us." You corrected as you washed your hands.
"I hope she didn't call you away from anything important." Yelena said as she glanced at the hot drink you had left on the counter.
"I was just about to go to the pharmacy." You shrugged.
"It's your lucky day, I need band aids." Yelena declared as she picked up her satchel bag.
"Band...aids?" You questioned with a shit eating grin as you grabbed your drink and headed for the door with the blonde behind you.
"Yes, y/n. I need band aids. You're as bad as Natasha, she doesn't seem to think we need them either. We have everything in that bathroom except band aids!" You giggled as you watched her ramble in exasperation, finding it undeniably cute when she got lost in her own world about something.
"So if you're bleeding to death you'll be fine but if you get a papercut then things are gonna get bad?" You teased as you left the building. Yelena rolled her eyes at you but seemed to not be able to stop the small smile fighting for it's appearance, tugging at the corner of her mouth.
"It's a pretty big papercut." She mumbled as she inspected the cut on her forefinger.
"Well I think you're very brave." You grinned.
You walked in a comfortable silence for a while until your eyes landed on something that spiked every happy hormone in your body. "Yelena!" You grabbed at her arm and pointed across the street. The blonde was understandably alarmed at first and you noticed her reach into her back pocket for something until she saw what you were pointing at.
"Seven ferrets." Yelena muttered as she watched the small animals half run down the street infront of their owner.
"Seven adorable ferrets." You corrected as you watched them continue to scurry along.
"I can see how that could be the highlight of your week." Yelena recalled and you couldn't help but blush slightly. "I think this is the highlight of mine." She admitted.
"You're only human." You sighed as you turned around to keep walking, a content smile on your lips.
"Why don't you have pets if they make you so happy?" Yelena asked curiously.
"Not allowed in my apartment." You said gloomily. It was probably for the best, you would have a lot of pets if you could, too many to handle.
"If you think about it, rats are just small ferrets and you see those everyday. You could go find some more." Yelena teased and you chuckled.
"Haven't you heard? They carry disease." It was Yelena's turn to laugh lightly at that. You smiled proudly at causing the beautiful sound and felt your stomach do a small flip.
*
It turned out all the Avengers were keen to have Yelena on their team. Tony and Steve had introduced themselves to the new Russian one evening and bored (Yelena's words) her with stories of their latest successful missions and how great it was to be an Avenger. She didn't buy it.
Then she started getting emails and texts from the team, inviting her to different events and trying to get on her good side. Tony had even sent an extravagant gift basket to the apartment one day. Yelena had asked you to spend the afternoon sorting through it with her, snacking on all the expensive chocolates on the way as you told the blonde you thought she had a secret admirer.
It was early in the afternoon when she finally agreed to meeting the whole team.
"I just think it could be fun. I know they probably seem like annoying children right now, but at those parties they have to behave." You said into the phone as you balanced it on your shoulder.
"I don't think I own the right kind of clothing for it." Yelena said.
"I'm sure Natasha can lend you something, she is your big sister after all." You teased and heard her groan.
"You don't even have to stay long. But once you actually meet them they'll lay off about you joining if you still don't want to."
"It's just not-"
"Your thing." You finished with a smile. "I know, Lena. They'll get it." She hummed in thought and a silence fell over your phones until you cursed. "Shit." You muttered when the table leg fell down again.
"You need help putting that table together?" Yelena asked for the umpteenth time. You sighed as you sat back and glared at the parts sprawled out across the floor.
"Yes please."
*
Yelena Belova wearing a suit was something else entirely. Every outfit her sister offered her she turned down until Natasha grew frustrated and took Yelena out for a suit fitting, and god it paid off. The blazer hugged her body closely in a way you partly wished you could feel. You knew the blonde wasn't big on any form of affection, especially physical, but you loved it and Yelena had become a good friend. During late evenings when she was sitting comfortably in an armchair with a large hoodie on you thought she looked so soft and warm. You could only imagine how safe you would feel in her arms. You always had to put those thoughts aside quickly, not wanting to let your mind linger on things so intimate.
"Told you this place isn't so bad." You laughed nervously as Yelena approached you. She smiled and shook her head, her eyes looking so much brighter in the new lighting.
"I can't argue with that." The blonde shrugged and followed you to the bar.
"You um, you look amazing by the way." You said as she avoided Yelena's gaze, not wanting to let your eyes wander the way they were straining to. Unfortunately that meant you missed how she took in your attire and the admiration she struggled to hide.
"So do you." She smiled.
"Evening." Natasha said with a smirk as she came up to you and Yelena from the other side of the bar.
"This does not feel right at all." You winced making the redhead smile, more so when she prepared what she knew was your favourite drink.
"Yelena! You running away from me?" Sam grinned as he strolled towards the bar. You smiled into your drink when you saw the blonde shift on her feet in slight frustration.
"You gotta come meet Maria, you're gonna love her!" He exclaimed as he tried to steer Yelena away. She looked back at you with a face that was clearly asking for help but you just giggled as she left and waved goodbye to her.
"Has she met Wanda yet?" You grinned at Natasha knowingly and a slight blush appeared on her cheeks.
"She has." You hummed and looked across the room to spot the Sokovian in question. "And?"
"And they only just stopped talking when you arrived." You nodded with a triumphant smile, knowing the pair would get along. You missed Natasha's short analysis of your expression, trying to find the thing she knew you were hiding until someone else arrived at the other end of the bar and she rushed off.
You leaned over the bar to pour yourself another drink and started across the room. It didn't take long at all to find Wanda, or rather for her to find you.
"Y/n!" She exclaimed as she pulled you in for a crushing hug barely a second after you had turned around.
"Hey Wan." You laughed as you tried to hug her back.
"How are you, sweetie?" She asked as she let you go.
"I'm good, how have things been for you?" It had been far too long since you had seen the Sokovian and you missed her company a lot. She had such a calming presence that you always felt so comfortable around. You had told her that once, not knowing the fears she faced of her powers and the mistrust she had in herself, and she had teared up as she pulled you in for your first Wanda hug.
"So, I hear you met Yelena." You smiled after a while of catching up with the redhead.
"I was slightly terrified of her at first." She admitted with a laugh.
"She had a gun on me when we met!" You exclaimed as you remembered it clearly.
"So I heard." Wanda teased. "I also hear you guys are getting on like a house on fire." She continued as she watched you carefully.
"Yeah." You muttered as you spotted her talking to Maria. "She's pretty great." You said easily.
You spent a while catching up with various team members between drinks. You kept steeling glances at Yelena, mostly catching her in conversations she clearly didn't want to be in but a few times you caught her eye and paused to smile at her. She was always beautiful but you really couldn't get over how she looked in the navy suit.
You were sat by the bar when the party started to come to an end. You usually would have left a while ago but you wanted to be able to say goodbye to Yelena before you did.
"I'm exhausted." Came the familiar husky voice from behind you. Yelena leaned on the bar next to you and poured herself a vodka and downed the shot.
"Me too!" You said loudly with a slight slur. Yelena paused before letting a smile creep onto her lips as she watched you with an amused glint in her eyes.
"How much have you had to drink?" Yelena asked as she took your glass away from you.
"A few." You thought as you tried to calculate in your head but just shrugged in conclusion.
"легкий (lightweight)." The Russian muttered.
"Hey, come over here." Natasha called as she rounded a corner and spotted you and her sister. "We're putting a film on." She declared. You glanced around and noticed that everyone had gone. When did that happen?
"Let's go, Lena!" You called as you took her by the hand and led her through to where Natasha had gone.
"Are you sure?" She questioned as she looked down at your entwined hands.
"Absolutely!" You jumped up a few steps and saw the group sitting around the large TV on the comfy sofas.
"I missed these." You said to Yelena as you fell down onto the nearest sofa and pulled her down next to you. Natasha placed some snacks down on the table and eyed your joined hands without a comment.
You brought your legs up underneath you, not unlocking your fingers when the blonde's who didn't seem to mind. The other Avengers didn't seem to take much notice or interest in how close you were to Yelena and thanks to your slightly tipsy state you didn't bring much attention to it either. All you knew was that you felt comfortable sitting so close to the Russian that your bare arm was touching her soft blazer.
"Your hands are really soft." You whispered to her. She smiled to herself and tried to fight off the slight blush painting her cheeks that you, lucky for Yelena, didn't notice.
"So are yours." She whispered back.
What you didn't realise was that Natasha was still paying close attention to you both with Wanda smiling knowingly besides her, even when the film started and the lights dimmed. She finally stopped when she heard Wanda laugh lightly at something on screen, turning her attention to the girl besides her and then the film.
Barely 10 minutes in you found yourself growing sleepy. The dark room and the warmth of Yelena were certainly part of the cause but you found you really didn't mind, especially when your head fell onto Yelena's shoulder and she didn't shake you off.
Your eyes struggled to focus on the screen and really anything that wasn't the blonde when she shifted on the sofa to let you lean back against her. You smiled faintly as you let your eyes close and relax against Yelena, your hand still in hers.
*
You awoke when the main lights started to come back on and you felt Yelena stretch behind you. Her blazer was draped across your front and you smiled like an idiot when you realised. She had only worn it for a few hours and it already smelt like her.
"Hey." She husked and you felt a chill run through your body when her breath hit your neck.
"Hey yourself." You grinned back.
"Come on, let's get you home." She said as she sat up on the sofa.
"Can you get me a cab?" You asked as you rubbed your eyes.
"I'll drive you." Yelena stood up and held out her hand to help you up too. You took it happily and leaned against her for support for a moment.
You said goodbye to the team and made your way slowly out of the living area and eventually out the building in a concentrated silence. Concentrated for you, Yelena didn't have any issue putting one foot infront of the other.
"You guys okay getting home?" Natasha called from the entrance as Yelena helped you into her car. You gave Natasha two thumbs up and grinned her way as Yelena nodded. The redhead nodded back and folded her arms as she watched you carefully leave the building site.
It wasn't that long a drive to your apartment. Yelena drove in silence while you hummed along faintly to a song playing quietly on the radio, unaware of the smile playing on the blonde's lips.
When Yelena had parked outside your apartment complex she helped you out the car and up to your apartment, unlocking the door for you and guiding you through to your room where she lay you on the bed gently.
"You should change." Yelena said as she got some of your night clothes from the closet and went into the kitchen to get you a glass of water.
"You should stay." You grinned at her. She arched a brow at you in question but you didn't respond, only turning around on the bed. "Can you help me with my zipper?"
Yelena nodded and put the glass of water down on your bedside table and pulled the zipper down, trying to ignore the urge to see if the skin on your back was as smooth as it looked. She cleared her throat when she realised the zipper went lower than she thought, reaching your tailbone. Yelena took a step back and turned towards the opposite wall as she heard you step out of the dress and into your bed clothes.
"You should take some too." You said when you pulled the duvet back.
"You really want me to stay?" Yelena questioned, it looked like you were starting to sober up.
"Of course!" You grinned as you leaned on your elbows to watch her and patted the space in bed besides you.
"Okay." She smiled and got some clothes from your closet that she quickly changed into when you looked away to drink the water she had given you.
Yelena folded her suit on a chair in the corner of the room before hesitantly getting into the warm bed besides you. But she surprisingly felt a lot more at ease when you draped an arm over her stomach as you closed your eyes. Yelena sighed lightly at the contact. She never thought she was one for physical contact, but she had been wondering what it would be like to receive it from you for a while. Even craved it after you had held her hand earlier that night.
"Night Lena" You mumbled sleepily. Yelena put her hand on your waist to pull you closer to her and brushed a stray strand of hair away from you face.
"Good night y/n."
*
Despite the killer headache that greeted you, you actually woke up feeling pretty great. Your bed was warmer than usual and you didn't feel quite as alone as you always did in the large bed.
You rubbed your eyes and groaned but froze when you felt a hand on your bare waist where your shirt had ridden up. Yelena was sleeping soundlessly besides you and your breath caught in your throat when you took in her appearance. The sunlight seeping into the bedroom hit her face just right and you had to remind yourself not to stare, even if she wasn't awake to notice it.
You spotted a bottle of advil on the bedside table and a fresh glass of water that you took together. You tried to be careful not to wake Yelena but she started to move when you did, her soft hand slipping from your waist.
"Morning." You said after finishing the glass of water and wiping your mouth with the back of your wrist. Yelena groaned as she stretched out like a cat and looked up at you.
"Morning to you too." She smiled and you wondered if she knew she had her hand on your waist just a few seconds prior.
"Feel free to take a shower and borrow some of my clothes." You offered as you stood up from the bed and made your way across the room.
"Thanks." She hummed quietly. "Hey." You turned around by the door when she called you. "How did you sleep?" She asked curiously as she sat up to face you properly.
"Like a rock." You recalled happily. "You?"
"Yeah," Yelena smiled back, "pretty great." You nodded and made your way to kitchen as Yelena got out of bed with a content smile.
Yelena was in the shower when you started on breakfast. Usually you would have made something simple like toast or some fruit but you figured as you had a guest you should make something better and settled on pancakes. You also wanted to thank her for staying the night with you.
"That smells amazing." Yelena said with wide eyes as she trudged into the kitchen, still drying her hair. Your heart swelled at the sight of the blonde in one of your band shirts with some loose shorts. Your thought that your clothes probably looked better on her and you imagined how soft she would look in your favorite hoodie.
"Take a picture, it will last longer." She teased when you didn't respond. You snapped out of your daze and smiled sheepishly as you avoided her eye and continued to flip the pancakes. You put a plate down on the kitchen island and motioned for her to eat as you put some juice and fruit down too.
"No pressure, but what I think of you as a chef is going to be determined by these." She quipped as she started to cut the food. You smiled and turned around to watch the blonde's face change into a childish grin.
"Not too shabby." You concluded before shovelling more of the food into her mouth.
"No too shabby." You repeated with a sense of pride as you sat down next to her.
"That's what they used to say on the American shows I watched as a kid." She explained. You were about to tell her you had heard the expression before but paused when you realised it was the first time Yelena said anything about her childhood to you.
"Weren't they translated?" You asked carefully.
"No because they were copies from America. My father got them for us." She said and you noticed the far away look in her eyes, no doubt remembering that day as best she could.
"Well if you remember what the show's called we can try watch them again." You suggested with a shrug. Yelena considered you for a moment before she smiled at you softly. "Okay." She agreed. You opened your mouth to speak but there was a sudden loud thudding on your apartment door. You went to stand up to see who it was until Natasha opened the door and slammed it shut making you jump.
"I locked that door." Yelena said with certainty.
"I have a spare key." Natasha showed the metal piece before putting it back into her pocket.
"You want pancakes?" You asked as you stood up to put some more batter in the pan.
"What's going on with you two?" The redhead demanded, ignoring your question.
"What do you mean?" You and Yelena used in unison.
"You know exactly what I mean!" Natasha exclaimed as she raised her voice and looked between you and her equally baffled sister. "Are you dating? You could have told me." She continued as a hurt expression flickered across her face.
"We're not dating." Yelena said slowly but glanced at you. "Are we?" You could have sworn you heard her voice hold something hopeful rather than teasing.
"Not since I last checked."
"Can you quit fucking around and just tell me?" Natasha took a second look at the shirt Yelena was wearing before her jaw clenched.
"Oh no no no. We didn't- she just slept over!" You rambled as you started to panic. Natasha looked far from happy. You had been thinking a lot about what your friend had said the first time you met Yelena. You were never sure if she was really serious or not. All you knew was you that you started to feel guilty when your eyes lingered too long on her sister or when you felt the butterflies in your chest at her contact or really anything she did. You told yourself you kept your promise and didn't have a crush on Yelena, but it was becoming increasingly harder to convince yourself and now Natasha.
"You can tell me." The redhead said quieter as her stance softened. You looked to Yelena who seemed set on staying silent as she stared at her empty plate.
"Natasha I really don't know what to say..." You honestly didn't. You were baffled by the whole situation and Yelena was hardly helping. She really thought you were dating?
"Right, I just wanted to know." The older Russian sighed as she trudged towards the door. There was a heavy silence over the apartment until Natasha stopped by the open door to turn towards you both with a frown.
"I didn't mean it. What I said about..." She glanced around as she fidgeted in the doorway and searched for words. You and Yelena waited patiently. "Wanda said you guys are cute." A smile flickered at the corner of your mouth and you looked to the floor. "She's right." She left without another word and shut the door gently behind her. You exhaled heavily once you heard the click and leaned against the counter.
"Crazy, right?" You laughed nervously. Yelena didn't respond. "You okay?" You started filling the washing up bowl with water, needing to do something as you talked.
"She thinks we're dating." Yelena muttered.
"Yeah that's what I... that's crazy." You laughed more and scratched the back of your neck.
"Is it?" She questioned as she turned around to face you. You couldn't help but stare back at her light eyes that you struggled to read.
"Maybe not." You shrugged. The blonde looked back at the ground with a conflicted look. "No... no it's not." You concluded.
"I like spending time with you." Yelena continued. "Just hanging out, helping you put together that damn table, sleeping next to you. Even at that damn party with like one hundred people I still just wanted to be with you." She admitted and you exhaled a breath you didn't know you had been holding. "I just like being around you."
"I like being around you too." Yelena looked up and you held her gaze as your hands shook with nerves.
"Would you still like being around me if we were on a date?" She asked boldly. You couldn't contain the smile that grew at her words. You reached out and took her hands in yours as you took a step closer to the Russian.
"I would love it." Yelena smiled and stood up slowly, her eyes flickering to your lips as you licked them. You closed your eyes and leaned forward bravely, finding your hands were no longer shaking. Yelena's left hand left yours and came up to your neck to steady herself and close the gap between you, pressing her lips ever so softly against yours.
You snaked your hand around her waist to bring her somehow closer and deepened the kiss you realised you had been craving for so long. You pulled away softly and rested your forehead against Yelena's, suddenly feeling very dizzy.
"I have a huge crush on you." You admitted with a sigh, to yourself and Yelena.
"I have a huge crush on you too." Yelena laughed softly. "Can we do that date now? I think I've waited long enough." You giggled lightly and nodded your head as excitement rushed over you.
"Sounds perfect." You smiled and went to your bedroom to get changed but paused in the hallway. "You should call Nat."

Togruta Marking Headcanons (Evolutionary and Epigenetic)
Okay, so the question is:
Do you think togruta markings are purely genetic or partly genetic and partly influenced by the environment?
e.g. a stressful adolescence leads to more complex markings/breakage
This conversation was had in large part on discord with @atagotiak and @dracothulhu.
Striation and Complexity
Now, my take comes entirely from Ahsoka having VERY complicated markings compared to Shaak, but we played around with it and had a lot of fun tangling out some headcanons that aren't really supported by canon, but aren't voided by it either. Also it makes time travel fun.
(Shaak Ti looks at time traveled Ahsoka and goes "Oh dear. You okay, honey?" The answer is always No.)
(This is actually EXACTLY why I was hoping there's a combined genetic/environmental factor, so any given time-travel Ahsoka has a different pattern, to some degree, from her younger self so that they can say "IDK, maybe we're cousins?" instead getting side-eyed for having Identical Marks.)
(Happy AU Ahsoka ends up with smooth rings instead of what almost looks like blue veins in marble? It would also probably make time-traveling Ahsoka’s bad future story seem a lot more real.)
Reference image:
Tumblr media
So like these three with their clean lines and stuff probably grew up ok, as much as their lives suck now.
Some of the complexity of the markings is definitely genetic, especially with face markings. 14 yo Ahsoka has some significant complexity there already, and while she’s got early childhood trauma from that one time she was kidnapped, she otherwise seems to have been fairly happy and healthy as a child in the Temple.
On the other hand, her lekku markings do go from fairly smooth and even to really jagged looking.
My thoughts are that facial striation is indicative of stressors in childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood, but Montral/Lekku striation indicative of adulthood stressors (and maybe some late teens).
The adult/child distinction in striation is imo because their faces mostly stop growing after they hit adulthood, but there's more growth in the montrals and lekku.
So Shaak has a lot of striation on her montrals because adult Jedi Masters, with field work on the regular, encounter a lot of stressful situations (more dangerous missions, raising a padawan). But her childhood and adolescence, while occasionally adrenaline-heavy on missions with her Master, were usually no more stressful than one would get with, say, hunting lessons on Shili, so her markings end up very simple and blocky on her face and more detailed on her montrals and lekku.
If if we assume that the Montral tips are the later stressors showing, then it’s plausible Shaak Ti’s got a lot of little markings partly because of the stress of being a council member. Sure it’s not life threatening but the stress of a high-pressure administrative position is still stress.
(And the three ladies here probably start getting a little more fragmentation in the years after the Zygerria arc, assuming they survived.)
Tumblr media
It doesn’t look like a lot, compared to Ahsoka at least, but there’s a moderate amount.
Tumblr media
Between the beskar and the complex facial markings and lekku striations, I feel like other Togruta tend to give Ahsoka a lot of respect as a warrior.
Doesn't matter that she isn't wearing Akul teeth! Whatever! She clearly knows her shit!
It could be a byproduct of evolving as a communal species. Like yes, striation is good for hiding when you hunt, but seeing complex patterns on a child's face can indicate an unhealthy home life or otherwise invisible medical problems. In that context, Togruta in general watch out for complex facial patterns as a sign of child abuse.
(Obviously not foolproof but it seems like a reasonable option.)
A more stressful childhood could be indicative of low food security, and then evolution led to the marking complexity to make hunting easier in response. Tddlers and babies with early complexity might have had mothers with food insecurity or high adrenaline levels in pregnancy, too. It’d be difficult to pinpoint a specific pressure that caused it, but there’s definitely a lot of reasons it was advantageous to keep in the gene pool.
(Baby Anakin didn't know a lot of togruta growing up but I imagine most of them were heavily striated, so in those time-travel AUs, he doesn't understand the big deal with Fulcrum's markings until someone explains...)
(Slaves had stressful lives all around, and slavers liked it when togruta girls had complicated markings, they were considered Prettier, so this... worked out for them and Nobody Else.)
(If he noticed that other Togruta he’s seen since, like Shaak Ti or other Jedi or some civilians he’s met, seem to have less striation he maybe just assumed it was genetics and didn’t question it further?)
Montral Shape and Lekku Length
Another interesting thing is just the massive variation in montral shape.
My guess, personally, is that it's regional evolution. Did your ancestors live in an area with lots of trees, or was it more canyons, or maybe grasslands? It was an evolutionary reaction to how sound bounced around in your area.
In regards to lekku, even ignoring the live action stuff, Rebels Ahsoka has smaller lekku than Shaak Ti does. And some of that could be partly random chance and partly because Shaak Ti of age, but some people also think it’s partly malnutrition. I've personally been assuming it's just age and genetics, but...
We do see a significant lekku length disparity by gender, like these images:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To which I suggest:
...trans Ahsoka, whose lekku started growing out a little late because that's when she started estrogen (or the Togruta equivalent). There are a few male togruta with long lekku, but it seems pretty common for them to have short ones, so maybe they're transmasc.

Hello! Could i request a HCS for izana and the Haitani brothers discovering their s/o is good at fighting, because their s/o save them from a fight? I hope you have a great day, sorry if the request doesn't make sense, my English isn't exactly the best <3
- babes your english is absolutely perfect, and thank you so much for requesting !! i do hope you like it ! ♡
Tumblr media
Izana, Ran and Rindou discovering that their s/o is good at fighting
genre: not sure..it isn't really fluff, just simple gang fight things
warnings: violence
Tumblr media
Izana
whenever izana got involved in any type of fight, it was usually quite a rough situation. he would only ever get involved with another gang's member if it was truly necessary
the sight was brutal, punches being thrown between the two men as they attempted to knock the other out. other tenjiku members had gathered around the scene, but nobody dared to get involved in the fight of the president
besides, they knew he would only curse them out if they did
you had heard about the fight from a running koko who had passed by you whilst you were walking near the area, heading in the direction of the gang's main gathering point
it didn't take the two of you very long to arrive and, upon seeing the fight that was taking place and who was involved in it, you pushed your way through the crowd of spectators. a challenge, seeing as most of the tenjiku members were quite bulky and didn't even recognise the presence of the prident's partner
the other guy had already taken a fair amount of hits, but it appeared that izana had also received his portion of punches to his body
you didn't doubt his strength, so you remained at the sidelines as the two ran up to each other once more, shouts filling the air as the gang members tried to distract the rival
unfortunately, one of those shouts had been considerably louder than the rest, causing the leader to whip his head around in case it was another member joining in on the brawl
this left a predominantly open window for his opponent, something that rarely ever happened to izana. before he was able to react, a swift leg came into contact with his head, knocking onto the ground instantly
it had most definitely caused a fair amount of damage to him, and when your horrified eyes landed on his almost unconscious body, you weren't able to hold back your running steps towards the bastard who had thrown your boyfriend to the ground
you were stealthy enough to catch him off guard, giving you enough time to bring your arm around and delivering a harsh hit on the guy's throat
both from the force and being stunned at the sudden attack, the taller man lost his balance, eyes rolling up as he hit the ground. you hadn't realised you had hit him that hard, truthfully; but you were glad you had gotten rid of him
as you turned back round towards the injured president, you met his widened eyes as he stared up at you, promptly switching over to look at the fallen man before him
"y/n, I..."
"are you alright?"
you quickly crouched down to check his body for any serious hits, not realising how surprised you had left your boyfriend after that unexpected attack from your behalf
he was more than just impressed. proud was the word he looked for, and he was sure to ask you all about your skills once you got him back home

Ran
ran getting into a fight with another man was a sight that stuck in everyone's mind if they ever witnessed it
be it with his brother or not, he never showed even the smallest ounce of mercy towards his attacker. if they wanted to fight, he was going to make them regret they ever considered doing so
with the aid of his peculiar, metal rod - which nobody actually knew where he got it from in the first place - he never left a brawl on the losing side
he was a haitani brother, after all. he feared nothing and no one, to put it simply
despite all of this, you always grew nervous whenever he went up against someone. sure, he had a strength that topped any other gang members' in the area, but there always stood a chance of a weak moment, a momentary distraction
and it was all you could think about as you watched the scene unfold in front of you. stood beside his younger brother, your eyes followed the rapid movements that were exchanged between the two s62 generation members. it was rare that ran ever encountered someone his age nowadays, so he was giving it his all for the special occasion
unfortunately, you had noticed that his rival was quite skilled in his fighting techniques, and every now and then you had to hold your breath as they threw a punch a little too close to comfort to your boyfriend. it terrified you, to say the least
rindou kept assuring you that you had nothing to worry about, but as you watched ran slowly lose energy to keep up the fast pace, your concerns only grew in size
the last straw was taken when the other man grabbed hold of the metal rod just before it came in contact with his head. surprised at the uncommon act, ran remained still for a split second as the weapon was ripped out of his hands.
unable to take up an offensive stance quick enough to attack, he was greeted with a harsh blow to his gut, causing him to bend over in pain before receiving another hit, this time to his legs
watching him struggling to get back up onto his feet, your heart was practically at your throat. was he able to get back up in time?
upon noticing the opponent's leg lifting up, with the intentions of smashing the haitani brother's head against the ground, you ran towards him as fast as your stamina would allow you
adrenaline kicking in, you reached him just in time to throw a swift punch to his ribcage, halting his next attack as the sound of cracking bones were heard throughout the area
an agonising scream left his mouth as he spotted you just below him. despite his towering height, you had managed to give him a brutal blow; however, you weren't sure what your next move was going to be
luckily, you were pushed out of the way, towards ran, before a leg came in contact with the guy's head. rindou had gotten involved just in time, and soon enough, other members started piling up on the stranger
hand grabbing onto his abdomen, ran was looked up at you from the ground, utterly stunned at your actions. your worrisome nature soon came back as you got down and tended to him, asking him if anything felt serious
the guy was on a whole other realm, still not believing what you had just done, so you would have to talk to him a little more before he actually spoke, praising you immensely for your skills
Tumblr media
Rindou
it was rare for rindou to actually take part in fights. he and his brother had taken over roppongi, so there was really nothing else to do unless some punk decided he wanted to challenge them. though, usually, they'd just get knocked out by ran's metal rod in the first two minutes upon arrival
if circumstances ever lined up to get rindou involved in a serious fight, without the company of his brother, he had a tendency of going all out, knowing that the brawl wouldn't last very long
all of his energy would go into going up against his opponent, determined to show everyone how he was more than capable to take someone down without the aid of anyone else
you had always sensed that he did it for self-approval, honestly. being the younger haitani brother, he had always been looked past, so when he got the chance to fight alone, it would be a vicious one
a member of a neighbouring gang had come up with the bright idea to compare the fighting skills of the brothers, with complete faith that he was going to beat both of them up, individually
it was really just the perfect scenario for rindou, and you could tell he was giving it his all as he tackled the stranger down several times
although it seemed he had the upper hand in the situation, you were starting to worry over his energy. 10 minutes had gone by since the beginning of the fight now, and you could tell both his and his rival's stamina was starting to give way
it was only natural, seeing how the two were going at it with full force.
as they continued to fight, you spotted ran on the other side of the gathering of members, watching intently as his brother took down the guy. it was clear by his expression that you weren't the only one who had noticed the toppling descent of rindou's strength
it all came to a turning point when, as he held down his opponent to the ground, the other was able to throw a kick at such an angle that your boyfriend lost some of his grip
this allowed the guy to release himself from the hold, quickly spinning round to send a flying punch to rindou's face that he received by mere millimetres. it was rare for him to not act immediately, but with the loss of strength, you figured he was struggling to even do that
the beating against your chest was now racing, watching as your boyfriend was repeatedly being punched in the face. why wasn't he moving? had he given up?
the loud shouts from other gang members around them increased as it posed to be a loss for the haitani brother, and you didn't know what to do
biting the inside of your cheek, you decided that, seeing as nobody was bothering to make a move, you would take into into your own hands
with a speed you hadn't even expected from yourself, you sprinted over to the man above rindou, quickly hooking your arm around his neck to halt his repeated punches
with the strong grip you had on him, you were able to keep him still until you smashed the bottom of your palm up his jaw, promptly knocking him out into your arms
discarding the heavy body to the floor without a care, you lingered over the bloodied face that belonged to your partner. you took his face into your hands, cradling it as you uttered out worried questions about his state.
although he didn't tell you in that moment, he had seen what you had done and was thoroughly impressed by the swiftness of your skills. once he woke up a few hours later, you were bombarded with words of appreciation, but also suggestions for you to show him some of your hidden ways

Loved your last writing!! Can we get Diluc and Kayea but this time with a older sibling that tends to be the responsible one! <33
—THE ELDEST RAGNVINDR SIBLING (hc)
penpal: aww im glad you like it! sorry for the long wait— hope you enjoy this as much as you liked the first one 🥰
warning/s: spoilers on prologue archon quest and diluc’s story (profile), mentions of death, mentions of family problems, mentions of drinking alcohol (if you’re a minor, please don’t drink until you’re now in the right age), and sprinkle of angst
note: reader is gender neutral and is 9 years older than the two + works at the adventurer’s guild (i believe in adventurer!reader supremacy).
Tumblr media
-> ah yes, the peacemaker of the family.
-> even though you’re the eldest sibling of the ragnvindr family, you let diluc be the one to be in charge of the dawn winery business given that you’re too passionate on your adventurer life to give up on it for your family’s business.
-> after crepus’s tragic death, you immediately took the responsibility of taking care of your younger siblings. it was hard, you had to admit; having to step aside in grieving your father’s death and deal with the things kaeya and diluc went through altogether.
-> you weren’t there when crepus died but when you found out what happened, you immediately came home to dawn winery and comfort your brothers.
-> during your first dinner together with your siblings ever since crepus’s death, kaeya comes clean about him being a “spy” for his homeland, khaeneri’ah. you understood kaeya— however you started looking at him differently since then (either bad or good, it depends on you).
-> however you didn’t realize that diluc’s silence to kaeya’s confession wasn’t what you think it was (im completely aware that kaeya didn’t confess this to diluc during dinner).
-> when adelinde called you urgently about your brothers fighting, you immediately tried to stop them before things get dirtier than it already is (you took note of how kaeya now has a vision).
-> even though you managed to stop them, you knew things wouldn’t be the same as it was before.
-> when diluc decided to resign from the knights and left everything behind (including his vision), he handed over to you the running of dawn winery. you obviously tried to convince diluc to not go and hunt down for the fatui— but you knew he won’t listen.
-> of course, with you having to manage the winery business— you have to postpone your adventure career until diluc comes home.
-> don’t worry though! diluc is willing to write letters to you weekly with the help of a bird, who’d fly over to dawn winery and wait for your response. though, he never told you about him working for the network.
-> for kaeya, he still stays in dawn winery but is rarely seen in the place. you watched as he slowly rises up at the knights of favonius ranks with your support. of course, he still talks to you— just only whenever he’s in angel’s share when you’re the one serving drinks for the night.
-> when diluc returns to your home, you took note of how there’s been a lot of rumors in mondstadt about the “guardian of mondstadt.” obviously you found out that he was the darknight hero when he came home late while you were in the kitchen drinking water.
-> time flew so fast and before you know it, they’re now adults.
-> whilst diluc continues on to work in his wine business and kaeya became the calvary captain of the knights, you later became one of the best adventurers of mondstadt.
-> they both have ways in showing you that they care for you. like in my prev hc, kaeya would consult some knights who’d patrol around the nation or adventurers who was with you for an expedition and ask of your day (you rarely talk to kaeya and diluc about your adventures so he has to use what he can to know if you’re okay).
-> obviously when you found out about kaeya checking up on you, you discussed with him that you’d tell him all about it in angel’s share when you have time and that he doesn’t have to confront the knights or adventurers about you.
-> diluc on the other hand would give you gifts that can help you on your adventures or listen to you talk about your day whenever you come home and he’s around. he’s also the one who helped you in wielding a sword and using one.
-> given that all three of your jobs kept you busy often, the only times you actually bond with your brothers together are when you three go to angel’s share.
-> during those times together in angel’s share, kaeya and diluc are only communicating each other for your sake. although it saddens you that they are no longer close to one another like before, you understood that it’ll take time.
-> it’s honestly chaotic for diluc if you’re an alcoholic and became kaeya’s drinking buddy. he’d be like “oh my god there’s two of them...” (unlike kaeya though, you usually drink a mild alcohol and drink at least one bottle).
-> whilst you’re kaeya’s potential drinking buddy, you are also the darknight hero’s #1 nurse/buddy.
-> as an adventurer, adventuring at night has its perks. one of those perks is your chance of encountering mondstadt’s mysterious guardian— the darknight hero.
-> you’d meet diluc somewhere around the areas of mondstadt seldom. when you did, you often tag along and help him hunt down hilichurls and abyss mages (much to diluc’s dismay). whenever your brother is done clearing around the areas near the city, he’ll definitely try to help you out on your commissions (much to your dismay as well).
-> whenever you don’t get the chance to encounter your brother at night, you sometimes have the chance to nurse him instead. you often lecture him in watching out for himself when fighting against more than two enemies whilst diluc hums in agreement to whatever you’re saying, too exhausted to listen most of them.
-> of course, being the oldest out of the three, they sometimes consult you for advices or favors as an adventurer. kaeya would sometimes ask you if you can navigate certain enemies around the nation with the help of the adventurer’s guild. diluc on the other hand would ask guidance on the winery industry (given that you’re more experienced than him).
-> you’re basically one of the people that your brothers trust the most. they very much look up to you.
-> ok but like, imagine diluc always trying to put alcohol away from kaeya before he can drink more and kaeya would be using you to convince diluc to give him more alcohol.
-> “that’s enough alcohol for today, kaeya.”
-> “no fair.. y/n, tell diluc to hand me back the dandelion wine— the night is still young, you know?”
