I went back and forth on whether to make this post. I guess what made me decide I probably should post it is not wanting anything to come as a surprise or shock to anyone following this blog.

In my 613 meta post, I kind of got nostalgic about how I started posting my weekly meta in 3b, and I mentioned that if it hadn’t been for people asking me to, these posts would not have existed. I’ll add, without those supporting my meta posts weekly, they wouldn’t have continued either (same goes to a degree for my ask replies). I’ve had my share of moments when I’ve seen engagement going down, leaving me with the impression that what I write must not be good enough for people to read, to reblog, to like, so I considered stopping.

But every time I did, I thought about the kind words I’ve read from people in reblog tags, I remembered those who told me that their enjoyment of the ep is increased by reading my meta posts, I thought about the people who enjoyed the meta posts enough to reblog them, and of the likes left on these posts, and I just couldn’t let all of these people down. I am not kidding when I tell you I probably would have stopped posting two years ago if it hadn’t been for the kindness you’ve all shown me.

But I also started recognizing that there’s a good chance engagement will continue to go down. And I don’t want to become bitter or angry over it. I’d rather quit before I get to that point. So earlier this season, I decided on an arbitrary cut off point for myself. If engagement drops below that, I will stop. I enjoy writing the meta posts, but I’d like to feel like I’m enjoying them together with others. And if that’s no longer the case, I wanna be able to say my goodbyes elegantly and without any hard feelings. I’m hoping this won’t happen before the end of s6, but I thought I’d share this now, to be on the safe side.

Why am I sharing it? At the end of the day, this is all up to the people who read my meta posts. If you like them and would like to continue reading them, please let me know by supporting them, by engaging with the latest (614 meta) or older, maybe even ask your friends to do the same, but ONLY IF you feel like it. And if engagement does eventually drop to the point where it no longer meets that cut off point, I don’t want anyone to feel surprised or hurt. I want you to remember that all of your kindness matters. That every post from me you’ve enjoyed in the last two years? If you’ve supported these posts, then the credit goes to you. I want you to remember that YOU and your choices matter, always.

Henry wades further into the ocean, the Ionian lapping gently against his ribs before he tugs Alex closer and cradles him, whispering poetry in his ear, all sun-kissed skin and besotted smiles; his own private sun tucked safely in his embrace, nourishing him with his endless blaze.

Henry helps. Of course he helps but he's not always enough to cut through his cyclone of a brain; he hasn't been around when he fucks up and cracks under the pressure and spirals into panic attacks and unwise pulls of Maker's Mark straight from the bottle. Henry is there, holding him and helping him breathe and it makes him love him so much more for staying and fear far more deeply because eventually everyone leaves. Henry insists he never will but he doesn't get it he doesn't get it he doesn't get it. He is so alone and he is never alone - not as long as he's getting secretly photographed by fellow students at the library or being blasted on Fox News as their latest scapegoat for everything wrong with America or taking selfies with a barista when all he wants is a triple shot mocha and a fucking break.

Impossible to Ignore, Impossible to Ignore

His brain is a perpetual maelstrom of immigration law and prayers in Nahuatl and stupid shit like Fergie singing the national anthem. It never shuts the fuck up. However, just being in Henry's presence makes everything else fade away. Wait… FUCK. Henry looks away, alerting Alex to the fact that he's been staring at him in silence like a total weirdo. For good reason, though, because even though he never entertained the idea that he's into guys, Henry's face - even when exhausted and gray - is inarguable proof of a higher power. Like aurora borealis or the first time he heard Dreams by The Cranberries.

A Love That Haunts the Land [I am particularly proud of the bonkers plot and characterization in this, especially Pez and Raf, but also Nora's introduction below fills me with so much fucking joy]

Alex lives with his best friend/ex-girlfriend/sister-in-law Nora, who Henry meets for the first time while half-naked (and not the half he would've preferred). She waltzes into the flat with a mischievous glint in her eye, slides onto the couch with them, and steals the remote for their sound system without saying a word. A few seconds later, she's blasting “WAP” and brutally murdering whatever shred remained of the mood while Henry clutches a throw pillow between his legs and begs desperately for the ever-so-elusive release of death. "Do you, like, mind?" Alex yells over the mantra of there’s some whores in this house.

His deep laugh kicks with the power of a bucking bronco, taking the whole room into hysterics with him – especially if the little ones are around (and they are always around). Abuelo Alex warms the space and fills it with grand and irreverent energy. He weaves tales so magical the kids don't believe him until one of them will chirp, “Is it true, Grandpa Henry?” And he nods sagely, if only to hear them gasp with delight.

Before they call it and head back, Alex warns, "FYI, June has a crush on the other guys in the court that aren't related to her. So - you know - you're in the danger zone." "That won't be a problem." Henry blushes again (seriously, does this guy have a condition?) which makes it harder to believe him. "June's not the type of person I'm interested in, and she knows it." Alex half-jokes, "Why not? Are you racist or something?" "I'm gay," Henry answers with an amused huff. Without missing a beat, Alex kisses his teeth in mock disappointment and drawls, "Dodging the question, I see." Henry rolls his eyes and can't help but smile. "You're a menace." "Well, you're not beating the racism allegations with that attitude."

Hi, Olivie! Catching up on your latest “Not Reading” video and I have to say I’m just stunned people tag you in bad reviews??? Like, I realistically know it happens all the time to authors on bookstagram, like I use booksta every day, but I’m still flabbergasted people think it’s okay to tag authors in the most negative posts known the mankind??? Like where is the basic human decency and common sense?

On a side note though: I often tag you in my TBR posts or like, general praise posts on my bookstagram (I’ve been reading your self-published works since early 2021 and just love to show off my indie copies and rave about your work in general, especially because you’re one of my comfort authors. Moreover, I tend not to write super critical thinkpieces on bookstagram for any book because I find Instagram to be a very gimmicky place and not actually conducive to discourse in general). Anyway, are you generally okay with being tagged in positive reviews of your works? I just wanna know what you’re specifically cool with as pertains to booksta and tagging? Thanks, and have a great summer!

I’m into my reread of One For My Enemy (first time reading the newly published version) and it’s like hard drugs in the best way possible.

I think after a certain level of perceived popularity (perceived being the operative word) people stop thinking of me as a human being, much less one who receives notifications. and to be fair, there is a lot that I don't see—instagram loves to hide things in my spam folder and I gave up on even trying to deal with my DMs a long time ago. I don't always read everything I'm tagged in, it just seems like on those days where I'm like "let's see what's on instagram!" it'll backfire cosmically. also, instagram likes to put only the meanest reviews in my notifications, which is like one out of every fifty. I have no idea what the plan is there, engagement via misery? in any case I try to stay out, because you're right—it's not really conducive to conversation. it's not like two active users on instagram at the same time are engaging in a meaningful way, like what can occasionally happen on twitter or tumblr. anyway, to answer your question, yes go ahead and tag me! I can't promise I'll see it and if it's a review I likely won't read it, since even praise isn't necessarily good for the art and any stray comment could have a weird effect on my brain. but I like to share posts when I can so that I can direct people to accounts they might have interest in

so basically don't worry about it. the risk of complaining about social media users who do things like that is that they aren't listening, but the people who behave conscientiously are, so it's kind of a preaching to the choir thing

So I’ve downed almost a litre of water after that, and I’m having FEELINGS about Sam’s newest audio!!! Putting it under a cut cause spoilers, nsfw talk and cause I’m gonna ramble

First off, the fact that Darlin was sitting waiting on his porch for him was so fucking cute but also heartbreaking at the same time. That they wanted to talk to him badly enough to sit and wait on his porch for an hour, but didn’t want to bother him by letting him know. That they would just wait there for as long as it took.

And then hearing him mutter while he dug around and gave them a key was just… 😭

This also explains why Sam didn’t get an Aftershock. He stuffed it all down. There wasn’t anything to show from him because he wasn’t ready to show it yet. Also, fuck yes, reclaiming his love of driving, not letting Alexis take that from him.

I cried so many times listening to him recount what he went through. Especially the part about David. But listening to him lament and spiral, grinding on how he could have done this, how this could have happened if he’d still been that… the PAIN in his voice, his struggles not to burst into tears on the spot. I knew I was going to need to hydrate for this video, but I didn’t think I’d need to from crying so hard.

Also, how dare you, Sam Collins, claim you’re not a poet, after giving the single most beautiful confession I’ve ever heard. I know this wasn’t technically his confession video, that he already did, but he dropped The L Word this time around, and in such a beautiful, devastatingly sweet way… just… FUCK…

But oh man, when I heard that man say he was ready, all the air left my lungs, I just… 🥵

I nearly died when he stopped and assured Darlin about their body ❤️ to have something the fandom largely headcanoned be made official was SUCH a giddy moment for me X3 and he did such a wonderful job of it too ♥️ and that he stopped IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DEED to give us ANOTHER heartbreakingly sweet confession about how important Darlin is to him, and how much this meant??

But tHE SPICY LEVEL OF THIS??? HOLY SHIT????

so i took this screencap after i read the latest ep and—

idt i'll liveblog this week but i'll put my Thoughts under the cut

(tl;dr jason's Moobs and artemis' arms are the only thing getting me through this webtoon and unfortunately i am near hitting the point where that can no longer sustain me 😔😔)

okay so Thoughts™️:

i said i'd stick around to make sure lobo was done well but considering he folded and fucked off in <5 panels i can't even judge that

and idr if i mentioned it on my blog but i told some friends i'd stick around for the first season of rho and likely drop it after that

but idek if i can keep to that anymore

i've read a lot of really crappy comics, superhero issues and webcomics alike. i've had my fair share of whiplash pacing and wildly ooc canon

i'm not saying i'm an expert at judging comics, but i'll give myself enough credit to say at the very least that this webtoon is Just Not Good

while i'm personally not bothered by changing the art style—

(actually, it's one of the few things i appreciate in traditional publishing for superhero comics, so introducing it to the webcomic medium has been really interesting to me)

(but that's a whole other post lol)

—they're not using the change to its full potential, or even for its intended purpose

i get that the webtoon weekly schedule is brutal and borderline inhumane for a lot of asian artists, so it's probably hell on earth for western artists having to switch to that kind of scheduling

nico offloading all the inking to another artist so he can get a break makes sense

but if that's the case, the art should be more polished—and it just isn't

it's still abundantly clear to me that corners were cut to get eps out on time with the same kind of length

i'm not an illustrator, and my eye for perspective is already pretty awful with my glasses on, but i think it still says something that my half-blind ass can still see errors

if the art has to change to give the regular artist a break, why isn't any of the art (both from the original artist and the fill-in artist) not up to par?

and this isn't even considering that the art just changes in the middle of an arc, which makes everything hella confusing for a reader who can seamlessly read episode after episode due to the nature of the webtoons platform and the webcomic medium in general

at least if there's an art switch in most traditional comics, it's introducing a new arc or volume to that series, and it's physically broken up into multiple comic books/issues

the changes in rho thus far have just been ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ at best, and (to me) without any thought about how the style could affect the overall story

to be clear: wayne family adventures also does this. but at least toby succeeds in emulating starbite's art style enough not to break immersion. and because it's been toby every time, the changes in art style is usually only noticeable when scrutinized

unlike with rho thus far, who's had different artists with similar but still distinctly different styles

so the abrupt art change is not only impacting the immersion of a reader but the effectiveness of the storytelling

and i don't even wanna get into patrick young's abysmal writing thus far. i know better than to yell on the internet about comic writers after namedropping them lol

i love jason. i genuinely like his rebirth outlaws team. for all the flack i give lobdell for rhato (2011) and in general, he did some actually decent things for all three outlaws during their 2016 run onwards

(some things. i'm still not forgiving him for rhato (2016) #25, or the fact that willis todd was apparently gd wingman, or for a lot of other things, but that is a discussion for yet another post lol)

i honestly cannot say the same for patrick young's writing

aside from the (fucked up) storyline happening to bizarro, i stand by my point that the highlight of every arc thus far has been the villains

which would be a compliment if it weren't for the fact that the series is supposed to be about the titular (anti) heroes of the story, or if the heroes were just written half as well

and yet?? i've been disappointed by every development for jason, and the mostly lack thereof for artemis, much less the downright disrespectful treatment for all the other characters introduced thus far

bizz really is the best boy, not only for his kind nature but for being the only decently written character out of the three

i get that superhero comics allows for different characterizations and the webtoon is continuing that tradition

doesn't mean i like what's happened to most of the characters

it's just........it's been really disappointing reading this webtoon

and i honestly feel bad for those who've spent hard earned coins unlocking any of this webtoon's fastpass eps

verdict: am i gonna drop this sooner than i thought? likely so

unfortunately for me i am a stubborn masochist of a stan so i'll be testing how long i can hold on just out of love for these characters 🥴🥴🥴

Storytelling ramble: Cass and his parents, Theokleia and Aiantes

Now, I don’t normally write commentary for my own fic. Usually I just hoard all the little pieces like a greedy dragon and bring them up in private conversations with people or randomly spring them up on people in less structured lore posts, but the latest fic I did, one that I’m kinda proud of, did bring about some revelations that I do wanna make commentary on. That’ll be the new #storytelling ramble tag, for organisational purposes.

The fic in question is On Theokleia, my mother (seriously, I am proud of it, so here’s a handy dandy link if you wanna read it!) It’s Cass and Theo angst, very painful, firmly in the hurt/no comfort category for reasons I’ll get into here. It’s under readmore for generally unpleasant family stuff, so mind that.

Writing about the relationships that Cass has with his family is hard. This particular idea came to me a few months ago, but I didn’t wanna touch Theokleia with a ten foot pole at the time, let alone write a fic. I contemplated whether to write from his POV or hers, but I figured it’s better for us all if it’s from his POV (and for the interesting way he perceives the power he has in this particular scene.)

And he does have it. He is, after all, his mother’s son. And his father’s, which is another point. But what gets me every time is the ending and how, even if he wins a battle, he’ll never win the war. He may have hurt Theokleia and aimed right where she’s vulnerable, but she has a support system that she doesn’t have. She has a set place in the world, for better or for worse, and Cass is the outsider from that order of things. She has allies, he does not.

But more intimately, she has Aiantes, her husband. I’ve long since maintained that Aiantes and Theokleia are excellent spouses, but horrible parents. Their marriage was arranged, true, but the choice to marry Aiantes was hers. They matched and fell in love. They work as a team and present a unified front against an enemy. In this case, the enemy is their own son, but it didn’t stop them from providing both their signatures on his disownment letter.

And they’re both dangerous, too - Theokleia’s the obvious danger, the blunt force, the raw power, while Aiantes is more of a sheathed dagger. He’s a diplomat by trade and carries a whole ‘superiority disguised as mercy’ vibe. He’s also very much present in the shittiness of Cass’ childhood, just in a more insidious way. Here’s a small exchange from the Tales of the Red Wayfarer that made me hate Aiantes’ guts forevermore:

“Cassander-” I flinch at the icy tone in Mother’s voice when she says my name, “is not for your Order, Wayfarer. We have never had a Wayfarer in our line, we have never had a magiani in our line.”

“Is he for you to hide him away, then?” Such audacity. How does he [Cenric] speak to Mother like that? “Is he for you to lock away and never see again? Is that a life, Lady Inteus?” “It’s good enough,” Father cuts in, so evenly, so neatly, so properly. My eyes prickle with tears. It’s good enough, but it hurts. “He is cared for, Wayfarer.” It hurts. I should be grateful. I have everything I could ever want. I’m not starving or working or dying from – sickness. I don’t have friends but I have everything else. I don’t have parents, but I have everything else. How stupid of me to overlook that. It hurts horribly.

Yikes.

So poor Cass never really stood a chance against two of them united. The battle he won does not matter in the grand scheme of things. I have yet to work and refine his relationship with his father, but this fic has given me a solid basis to work on. It’ll be a jolly ol’ time, I’m sure :’)

Not sure how many people will wanna read and it’s not really necessary to do so. I just wanted to put some of my thoughts in an organised way and if this sparks interest, all the better! I’d be open to doing some of these in the future, when I have the material to. In the meantime, if you’ve made it here, thank you for reading and I appreciate you being around, you’re the best <3

the next line is, "kind people have a way of working their way inside of me and rooting there." i think many (if not most) people have a soft spot for good, kind people, especially if they've been a recipient of that kindess. peeta's kindness saved katniss and her family from starving to death. if peeta was more aloof/neutral or outright cruel, it would be much easier for her to hate him and not have any qualms about beating (killing?) him in the arena.

Bonjour, I'm Valentin Mondrain, Head Assistant at Sycamore Labs in Lumiose City. My work at the lab involves studying the bonds between Trainers and Pokémon, both during the Mega Evolution process and outside of it. Currently, I'm doing a study involving Trainers and Non-Battling pokémon. If you are interested in participating, do not hesitate to reach out or stop by the lab.

A little about me:

I was born in Oreburgh, Sinnoh but raised in Santalune, Kalos. I specialize in Rock Type pokemon and am a former Rhyhorn Racer. If you've ever heard the names Valen and Yoka, that was me and my Rhyhorn. I unfortunately quit in college due to outside circumstances, but I will gladly talk about my experience. I also was in the soccer scene in college as well, but Rhyhorn Racing is more what I am known for.

I'm 43 years old, use He/It pronouns, and have a service Rotom named Novae. I do also have a bit of memory issues, so forgive me if I accidentally forget anything.

“I’ll take two London fogs, to go,” (y/n) smiled pleasantly at the barista.

“That’ll be eight dollars,” the barista smiled back.

“I’ll get that,” a male voice interrupted them suddenly, sliding a card across the table.

“Oh thanks, that was really sweet,” (y/n) spun to face the stranger, jumping slightly and the familiar face, “Woah.”

He blushed, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you I ju-”

“No, no, it’s not that,” she apologized quickly, “You just look a lot like my boyfriend is all.”

“Yeah, Tom Holland right?” he rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, “I’m a big fan of you both, you especially.”

“Oh thanks!” she smiled happily, “Thank you for the drink too.”

“Yeah, it’s no problem, I just wanted an excuse to say hi, without being weird or anything…” he chuckled nervously.

“It’s not weird at all! I love meeting fans,” she insisted with a big smile.

“Would you mind taking a picture then?” he blushed.

“Not at all!” she giggled, “I wonder if people will mistake it for Tom and I.”

“I don’t think they will,” he blushed suddenly, “I’m kind of known for impersonating him.”

“Really?” she was intrigued instantly, “Like one of those Cameo things or on Tiktok or something?”

“TikTok, I dress up like his characters and do whatever’s trending you know?”

“That sounds cool! What’s your TikTok? I wanna check it out?” she pulled out her phone excitedly.

He went wide eyed, “Really?”

She nodded, “Oh yeah, I love stuff like this!”

“It’s spidey underscore Noah,” he pursed his lips while she punched it into her phone, “I hope you don’t think this is weird or anything…”

“No way! I love stuff like this!” she giggled as she scrolled through his feed, “Would you care if I posted a pic on my story? I promise I’ll tag you.”

“Of course not, that’s totally cool with me,” he flushed red again.

“Tom is gonna think this is so funny,” she beamed as she held up her camera, “Say cheese!”

(y/n) snapped a picture and posted it to her story, then posing for a couple of photos with him. The small interaction ended with her following him and running back to Tom’s set, excited to tell him about what had happened.

“Hey Tommy,” she beamed as she passed him his drink.

“Hi darling,” he pressed a kiss to her cheek, “How are you?”

“Oh the funniest thing happened at the coffee shop,” she giggled, “I met your TikTok look alike.”

“My TikTok look alike?” he hummed curiously.

She nodded, “Yeah, his name is Noah, look, I took a picture with him,” she shoved her phone into his face with a smile.

“Yeah, he does look like me,” he chuckled, “I’m assuming he was a fan?”

“Oh yeah, I have to show you some of his TikToks. He does these ones dressed like Peter, they’re so funny…” she trailed off as she pulled up his page, “Oh look he posted one with me!”

Tom squinted at her phone while she clicked on his latest post, it was a picture of his look alike with his arm wrapped around (y/n)’s waist and a big smile on his face. He frowned as he read the caption ‘She looks good on my arm’ followed by the heart eyed emoji. It made him uncomfortable but the text to speech made it a hundred times worse.

“I met (y/n) at a coffee shop today, I thought she couldn’t get any more perfect until I met her in person.”

Tom took her phone and watched it again, “I don’t like it.”

“He was really nice Tom, I think he was just a little starstruck,” she flushed as she read over the caption, “I mean it’s a little weird maybe, but that doesn’t mean anything.”

“I don’t know, he just gives me kind of a weird vibe,” he shrugged, “But he also makes a living dressing up like me so I feel like maybe I’m a little biased.”

“Well I’m not planning on inviting him over to the house or anything so I don’t really think anything else is gonna come from it,” she sighed and wrapped her arms around his neck, “I think you’re just jealous he’s better at doing the TikTok dances than you.”

Tom laughed and pressed his lips to her forehead, “I’m not jealous of a single person on the whole planet because no one else has you, and that is absolutely all I care about.”

Tom kissed (y/n)’s cheek while she sleepily browsed through her socials. Soon he’d have to get up and head to the gym, but until then he was going to enjoy his morning curled up with her. She was scrolling through TikTok, like she did most mornings, hoping to start off her day with a laugh. Unfortunately she was met again with the picture of Noah and her, this time with Noah green screened in over it. Tom frowned, scoffing as he began dancing to some love song.

“Met my wife yesterday. L.A is magical,” he rolled his eyes and clicked on his page, “How does he have time to post this much?” “It’s his job,” (y/n) knit her brows as she studied his page.

He’d posted five new TikToks since they’d looked the day before, three of which had pictures of them together in the thumbnail. (y/n) scrolled through them, finding that they all had similar captions praising her or talking about how much he loved her. As she scrolled through them she found that even the ones posted before they met tended to center around her

“I knew he was a fucking creep,” Tom glared at the screen, “I think you should block him.”

“He’s just a stan,” she tried to brush it off, “He’s excited that we met.”

“The problem is that you met, he knows somewhere you hang out so this is beyond just being a stan,” Tom explained, “And I’m sure he’ll hang around there again trying to see you.”

“But I love that cafe,” she whined.

“I know and I think you should not go there for a little while, at least not alone. I just get weird vibes from him (y/n), I don’t want him to start stalking you or something.”

She nodded and pursed her lips as she debated what to do, “I think I’ll block him, at least for a little while so he gets the message that this creeps me out.”

“Good,” Tom kissed her cheek again, “You hungry?” She nodded and yawned, “Yeah, and I’m sure Tessa is too.”

“I’ll cook for us if you take care of her,” Tom offered.

“Sounds good,” she stretched her arms above her head and smirked, “And maybe you can join me in the shower before you head out?” He nodded and kissed her, “I think I can squeeze that in.”

Tom came storming into the house looking incredibly upset, (y/n) frowned as he yanked off his coat and kicked off his shoes.

“Something happened on set?” she inquired.

“No,” he shook his head, “That fucking TikTok asshole is talking shit making it seem like I’m some controlling prick.”

She knitted her brows, “What are you talking about?”

“This!” he handed her his phone, an article about them and Noah sat on his screen, “He’s saying I forced you to block him because I couldn’t handle your relationship with him! Like there was ever a relationship besides him being a freak!”

She took his phone as she read over the page, “Tom it’s just gossip, it’ll blow over in a few days.”

“But what kind of insane person says something like that!” Tom gaped, “I mean seriously he’s got all these people riled up saying I’m a controlling dick bag, and now people are saying you hate your fans too! He’s posted like ten videos about it!”

“Since when do you care about gossip?” she laughed, “Tom he’s angry, but this will blow over as long as we don’t retaliate.”

“I don’t care about the gossip, I just care when they drag you into it and start talking shit about you,” he huffed as he fell onto the couch, “And I don’t really want all our fans thinking I’m some piece of shit to you.”

“I think it’s easy for anyone to see that we’re very in love and you are the best boyfriend in the world,” she assured, scooting into his lap with a smile.

He hummed and wrapped his arms around her waist, “Yeah, I’d just like to be the only one that’s totally obsessed with you.”

“Well you’re the only one that I’m totally obsessed with,” she shrugged, “So I don’t think anything else really matters.”

He pressed his lips to her shoulder, “I just can’t believe anyone cares what this dick has to say about us.”

“Nobody who really knows us does,” she nuzzled her nose against his, making him laugh, “Let’s never talk about him again okay? He’s just some weird fan, nothing to get all worked up over.”

“I know, I just hate it when they start talking about you,” he sighed, “I’ll let it go darling, promise.”

“Good, you should be putting your energy into more important things,” she walked her fingers up his chest, “So what do you say we go change and take Tessa out to that new restaurant with the dog menu?”

“A night with my two favorite girls? Darling there is nothing I’d love more than that.”

“I’m sorry Tessa, daddy has your leash with him,” (y/n) apologized as the dog tried to follow her out the door, “You’ve got to stay in here, but we can go on a walk as soon as he gets home alright?” she tried to slip out the door but Tessa had shoved her way in and went running for the gate, “Tessa!” (y/n) scolded as Tessa started barking at the street, “There’s nothing there,” she inspected the road outside the home just to be sure. She found nothing so she grabbed Tessa’s collar to try and drag her back in, “Come on turd, you gotta stay in the house, I’ll be right back.”

Tessa continued trying to wiggle out the door until (y/n) closed it in her face. She shook her head and headed back to the gate, she glanced up and down the street once more before exiting the yard. Truthfully she’d been a bit paranoid lately, unable to shake the feeling that she was being watched. This had only been fueled by Noah, who’d started messaging her from side accounts on Instagram and Twitter. She and Tom had blocked him and his side accounts on everything, but she was sure he’d continued ranting about them. They’d continued to ignore him and quickly their fans and the media had lost interest in the story, but the whole situation had still gotten under her skin.

She sighed and stepped onto the street, trying not to let unfounded paranoia get the best of her.

“Calm down (y/n) you’re just grabbing the mail,” she assured herself as she padded down the street.

She reached the mailbox without a problem and relaxed a bit as she unlocked it. She glanced around her, making sure that she was still alone before she retrieved her mail. They key got stuck like it always did, and she had to shake the whole thing to finally get it to pop open.

“Jesus, finally,” she sighed.

“Hi baby,” a hand slammed over her mouth, “I missed you.”

She was sure she recognized the voice but was unable to turn around and confirm it was him. He held a cloth over her mouth and she did her best to hold her breath and make a scene. She thrashed around as much as she could, attempting to break his grip but he was too strong. Her vision grew spotty, her limbs started to give out as she fought to stay conscious. She felt her body fall into his as everything went black.

Tom was surprised to find Tessa waiting at the front door when he got home, normally she didn’t wander more than a few feet away from (y/n).

“Where’s mommy?” Tom scratched her head with a frown.

Tessa pawed at the front door and whined.

“Did she go out? Her cars out front,” he narrowed his eyes and glanced down at his phone, “And she didn’t text me…”

He peeked into the living room and kitchen, both of which were empty, Tessa continued to paw at the door while he searched the house. She was nowhere to be found, so Tom decided to call her. It ended up going to her voicemail, Tom tried to stay calm as he asked their friends if anyone had heard from her.Unfortunately no one had, and Tessa just kept running back to the front door. He had only the worst thoughts in his mind as sat down at the stairs, trying to comfort Tessa while he pulled up her phone’s location.

She appeared to be downtown, in a home he didn’t recognize. He knew none of their friends lived in the area, so there was no reason for her to be there. He tried to reason with himself that he shouldn’t do anything rash, that it was probably nothing. But he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong, so he decided he would drive down there and see what was going on. As quickly as he could he gathered his things and rushed out the front door to go find her.

Everything was blurry when (y/n) came to, her body felt heavy, she was barely able to move. She tried to pull her hands to her face but found they were stuck behind her. Glancing downwards she found that she was in a chair, her feet tied against the legs so that she couldn’t stand. Noah leaned in the doorway, a smile on his lips as he watched her come to.

“Good morning sleeping beauty,” he chuckled as he stepped towards her, “How did you sleep?”

“Where are we?” she rasped.

“My house,” he hummed, “Would you like some water?”

“Not if you’re gonna drug me again,” she coughed, “But yeah.”

“Very funny,” he held a water bottle to her lips, letting her take a couple gulps before he pulled it away, “How do you feel?”

“Not great.”

“It’ll get better,” he assured, “We can eat soon alright?”

“Why am I here?”

“I’m sorry it had to come to this but this was the only way to get you away from him,” he set his hand on her cheek carefully, “I missed you.”

She tried to pull away, “You know this won’t work right? Tom is gonna realize I’m gone as soon as he gets home.”

“I’m Tom,” he squeezed her face.

“You are not Tom,” she glared at him, “You are just some freaky criminal look alike.”

“I am Tom,” he repeated, his voice came out more threatening this time, “You wanted Tom, so I’m Tom.”

Fear told her to stay quiet but she couldn’t help herself, “You aren’t what I want.”

“I am exactly what you want,” he bit back, “Now say it, I’m Tom.”

She shook her head weakly, “You aren’t him.”

He slapped her, making her whole face sting and leaving behind a bright red mark, “Say it!”

They were both silent, her whole body was overtaken by fear, tears threatened to spill over as he seemed to calm down. He glanced at her cheek, blushing slightly at the sight of the mark there.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t want to do that to you,” he bent down to her level as he apologized, taking her face carefully in his hands, “I don’t like hurting you but you have to listen to me alright?”

She swallowed the lump in her throat and nodded, “You’re Tom.”

“Thank you,” he kissed her forehead, “I’m going to make us some lunch, you’ll be quiet for me won’t you?” he waited until she nodded to stand back up, “Good, I’ll be back in just a few minutes.”

She started crying as soon as he left, fearing she’d be stuck with him forever. She knew Tom would figure out she was missing, but that didn’t mean she’d be found. They wouldn’t know where to start looking, and even if they did that didn’t mean he couldn’t move them.

“Oh sweety,” he frowned when he returned to her in tears, “It’s alright, don’t cry,” he set the food he’d prepared on the bed behind her and wiped her eyes, “What’s wrong?”

She sniffled as she tried to collect herself, “I’m just not feeling well.”

“I’m sorry,” he dragged her chair towards the bed so he could sit across from her, “Here, this will help,” he held a sandwich up to her lips with a smile.

She took a small bite and forced herself to smile, “Thanks.”

“Of course baby,” he smiled back, “I’d do anything for you.”

He continued to coo at her while he fed her, complimenting her and talking about the life they were going to have together. She ate silently, not wanting to risk upsetting him any further. He began making plans for them to watch a movie that night when the doorbell interrupted them.

“I’ll have to get that,” he sighed and grabbed a bandana from a small bedside table, “I’m sorry about this, just a safety precaution.”

He tied the bandana around her mouth and left to get the door. Noah was shocked to find Tom on the other side of the door.

“You’re just about the last person I’d ever expect to be showing up on my doorstep,” Noah spoke first.

“(y/n)’s phone says it’s here,” Tom cut straight to the point, “Is she here?”

Noah hummed, “Well I’m sure she’d like to be here, but you’ve been forcing her to stay away.”

“Why do you have her phone?” he pressed.

“She must have left it here during our rendezvous,” he shrugged, “I’ll get it back to her next time she stops by.”

“This is serious,” Tom pushed against the door as he tried to close it on him, “If you’ve laid a hand on her I swear I-”

“I love her!” Noah seemed offended by the insinuation, “Much more than you do! I would never hurt her!” his cheeks flushed and he cleared his throat, trying to quickly recompose himself, “Don’t come by here again.”

The door slammed in Tom’s face, leaving him fuming and speechless on the doorstep. Unsure of what to do next he returned to his car, slamming the door in frustration. He thought over his options, as he debated his next move he couldn’t shake the feeling that he was in the right spot. He knew she had to be inside, and he couldn’t risk leaving her there with him, so he went back.

“Open up!” Tom demanded as he banged on the front door.

The door swung open once more, Noah seemed more annoyed this time, “What are you still doing here? I told you to leave.”

“I know she’s here,” Tom grabbed the door to keep him from slamming it again, “I want to see her, now.”

Noah jutted his jaw and shook his head, “She doesn’t want to see you right now.”

Tom swung as hard as he could, hitting Noah in the jaw and causing him to stumble away from the door. He grabbed him by the collar as he stepped inside, “One more time, where is she?”

Noah slammed his head against Tom’s, making Tom drop him before he swung at him again. Noah ducked this time and shoved Tom into the wall, “I told you she doesn’t want to see you,” he seethed,

“What’s so hard about that to understand huh?”

Tom kneed him in the stomach and threw another punch when he hunched over. Hoping to incapacitate him he threw him into a large glass coffee table. The table shattered and Noah fell limp to the ground, leaving Tom to his search.

“(y/n)!” he called, glancing around the home for just a moment before he started down the hallway, “(y/n)!”

He started throwing open doors, first a closet, then a bathroom, and finally a bedroom. There she sat, bound to a chair with her mouth gagged. Her puffy, teary eyes went wide as they met his. Tom rushed to her, relieved to see she was okay.

“It’s alright baby, I’m right here,” he assured, pulling the gag from her mouth before cupping her face, “Are you alright?”

She nodded, “Where is he?”

“Taken care of, don’t worry,” he kissed her head, happy tears welled up in eyes, “Let’s get you out of here alright?”

He made quick work of her trembling hands, “I’m sorry Tom,” she cried, “He’s fucking crazy, you were right.”

“That’s not important right now, all that matters is that you're okay,” he helped her from the chair, keeping her behind him as he peaked down the hall, “It’s alright, we can go.”

They made their way down the hall, only to be met by Noah standing in the living room, waiting for them. His lip was bleeding from Tom’s first punch and it seemed like he’d cut his side on the glass. Neither injury seemed to phase him. Tom pulled (y/n) behind him, Noah’s chest heaved as he spoke.

“You aren’t taking her anywhere,” his arm trembled as he raised it, “She’s mine alright?”

Tom raised his arms in surrender, both him and (y/n)’s were fixated on the gun, “Mate drop the gun, you don’t want to do that.”

“Oh I know exactly what I want,” he laughed, “You can’t seem to stay out of my way.”

“You want her, I-I know, I get it,” Tom tried to reason, “Look just put the gun down and we can talk about this, it doesn’t have to escalate to that.”

“Y-You said you didn’t want to hurt me,” (y/n) butted in, “I-I know you don’t want to be violent Noah, please just put the gun down.”

He glanced away from her, seeming to debate what to do with himself, “If he’s gone there’s nothing in our way anymore.”

“That’s not true,” she took a step towards him but Tom was quick to grab for her again.

“Don’t move!” Noah snapped at him.

Tom stepped back and raised his hands again, “(y/n) don’t.”

“He’s not gonna hurt me,” she assured as she took another step, “Noah if you hurt him it won’t just go away, it’s not something you’d ever be able to cover up. He’s famous, people are never going to stop looking for him or trying to figure out what happened. It’ll catch up with you eventually.”

Noah gulped and shook his head, “You don’t know that.”

“Yes I do,” she continued to move towards him, “You’ll end up in jail, and we can’t be together if you're in jail right?”

He shook his head hesitantly, “N-No, we can’t.”

“Exactly,” she smiled, “I know you’re upset right now but you can’t hurt him okay? You and I can go, but you have to let him be.”

His posture fell a bit looser and he lowered his arms a bit, “You promise?”

She nodded and took a hold of his wrist, “Just let it go, we’ll forget this ever happened in a few weeks.”

He finally relaxed and let her take the gun from him, “Alright.”

She clutched the gun in her hand and swung it at him, hitting him in the side of the head with the butt. He fell to the ground unconscious and she turned to Tom.

He had her wrapped in his arms in an instant, burying his face in her hair while she hid in his chest, “I love you.”

“I love you too,” she mumbled, closing her eyes as she clung to him.

Just wanna say I followed you for your ASOIAF art (beautiful, by the way, I spent an entire afternoon looking at it) but I'm having the time of my life seeing your Silmarillion drawings because I've never read it nor know what it's about, so every time you post something tagged "Sauron" I'm looking at each character going "are /they/ the big meanie of lotr?" Lil angry dude? Big blue demon thing? Overly affectionate elf? Who knows! (Please don't tell me which he actually is, though, I love it)

dcvfghSDCDFGHB well that’s the best way of joining the Silmarillion fandom, I have been following people making silm art for years before I’ve read the book! I dare say reading the book won’t help you recognise Sauron in fanart at all, as we get literally zero physical description of him, except the one time he turned into a wolf. We only know he is hot, and then he isn’t.

And for real, I’m very happy you like my asoiaf art and I’m also glad you are still having fun with my latest posts :)
