The narrative Horikoshi tries to push with Bakugou vs Uraraka in the sports festival is insane lmao. At any point Bkg could have easily knocked Uraraka out of the ring, as he is far more mobile than she is. Instead he opts to plant his feet smack dab in the centre of the ring and fire explosion after explosion at her. The guy in the stands was right, he wasn't "respecting her as a threat", he was torturing her for his own kicks.
Then you get him being praised for *checks notes* actually using someone's name for once? Because he respects Uraraka?? Newsflash: using someone's name isn't a sign of respect, it's basic human decency.
Furthermore, if Horikoshi truly wanted to make a point with the fight and actually develop the characters, Uraraka would have won. She had an actual plan , and it would have meant Bakugou allowed his own anger to blind him to it. But, no, Bakugou pulled an insane explosion out of his ass so that he could win when he didn't earn it, thus justifying in his mind the idea that he was simply naturally better than everyone else.

All of this. It was so bad. Just a major dick sucking service for Katsuki to make him look “respectful”. Shoto finishing the fight against Hanta was far more respectful than Katsuki stalling the fight because Shoto left no room for failure.

💣 PROTO!KATSUKI 💣
If Horikoshi went with his prototype personality for Katsuki, I feel like Katsuki would still be an unlikable character. Even more so, a little less popular than he is now.
Look, some of you tend to look at the nice characters and think they're "boring".
Koda, Shoji, Iida, Yaoyorozu, Ojiro and some other characters don't get as much attention from the fandom because they are nice. Let's just put it out there.
I see why those characters don't get as much screen time in the story because THEY ARE JUST MINOR CHARACTERS. That's a thing in story telling. Minor characters are there to just fill in the space, push the story along, give us a full cast. At the end of the day, Midoriya is the protagonist, the story is about him.
Speaking of the green boy!
Some of you think Midoriya is boring because he is kind and even as far as saying he's whiny and a crybaby because he shows his emotions. If he's not showing angry or being snarky like many other protagonists, he's not a good character. What the fuck ever.
If Katsuki was "nice" be honest, he wouldn't be seen as interesting.
If there's one thing I hate is when male characters show emotions, other than anger, and people call them "crybabies". That makes me mad.
It really does suck that it's deeply rooted in society that men and boys are weak for crying or wanting to hug their love ones everyday, etc.
That's not weak.
That's being human.
But I digress.
If Katsuki was "the nice guy" I also feel like a lot of shippers would be like "He's in the way of my ship". His kindness towards Izuku would be "just for show, he's really faking it, he's actually a possessive insufferable prick who is overbearing".
Be honest, be honest.
Don't lie because you already do it with Katsuki because he's mean and some of you do it with Izuku and Ochaco a lot, both who are nice characters.
Any Deku ship, Ochaco is the bad girl. "She's really just a bitch who wants Izuku for herself", which is so not true. I said it before and I'll say it again, any time she is just minding her business and doing hero stuff it's Mina who puts the idea of love in her head. I love Mina, but damn.
And with any Bakugou ship, Midoriya is the bad guy. "He's actually just clingy who stalks Bakugou and won't let him breathe". Again, so not true. Last time I checked, Midoriya isn't the one going around and listening in on people's conversations. Observant he is... WITH EVERYONE. That's how he learned to get creative with his moves. But a stalker?! For Bakugou?! No!
Both Ochaco and Izuku are often mischaracterize just for the sake of ships when we all know damn well they would be supportive.
Both put others before themselves. At best when it comes to relationships, they would want their friends happy. Concerned, hopes for the best, yes!
So if some of you act like this with Ochaco and Izuku, nice characters, I can definitely see prototype Katsuki being treated the same way.
Overall, just my opinion, either way how Katsuki's personality is, there would be little difference in some of this fandom. I know I'd like him, still would.
A lot of my faves do be nice characters.

BnHA 326: What’s up Kids, It’s Me, Your Old Pal Stain
Previously on BnHA: Ochako shamed the U.A. Clown Mob into letting Deku go back inside his own fucking school by giving them an hour-long speech about how not to be humongous dickheads. Kouta and Gigantic Fox Lady saved the manga by being the only ones brave enough to give Deku a hug. Shouto was all “man, all this togetherness sure does remind me of that promise you made that we would handle Touya together which you immediately bailed on, doesn’t it, Dad.” Aizawa was all, “for the one and a half people out there who thought that my losing an eye and a leg might actually make me less sexy, I’m very happy to prove you wrong.” All Might was all, “[standing outside the U.A. fortress alone in the rain talking to someone or something??].” Like seriously, what was up with that though.
Today on BnHA: All Might is all “here I am in Kamino having a belated mid-life crisis because Deku abandoned me and I’m a terrible mentor and everything sucks and I hate myself.” Stain is all, “don’t make me come over there and give you a ten page speech about why you’re still the goat while menacingly holding you at swordpoint the entire time” because idk if you knew this guys, but Stain is pretty crazy actually. Anyway so he does that, and then All Might gets all emotional, and then the lady from chapter 92 shows up and gives All Might’s statue an encouraging pep talk, and then Horikoshi is all “and it even stopped raining lol can you believe this shit I’m not even a little bit subtle,” and he really isn’t. But I still got emotional anyway, because seeing people reassure All Might that everything he’s struggled for his entire life hasn’t been in vain just got to me okay. Horikoshi knows I am weak to the All Might feels and he just goes for the jugular every time, that bastard.
lmao. “in the neverending downpour, All Might is...” yeah, thank you, glad we’re getting right to that then
“All Might is driving 95 mph in his busted ass car in the pouring rain, is what he’s doing.” huh
so basically a day or two after his adopted child refused to accept the handmade bento that he packed with love, my man is out here acting like he’s got nothing to live for anymore. this sure bodes well for certain prophecies on which the clock is still ominously ticking down
his fucking face though omg. is it weird that I’m kind of hoping more people ambush him just because I think it’d be funny to see them get their asses kicked like the last bunch

see, this is the whole problem right here. once again All Might is all on his own. Deku’s self-destructive angst spiral was fortunately brought to a grinding halt because he actually has support from his friends and family and teachers and classmates. but All Might never had that same kind of support, and it’s made all the difference between the two of them, and not in a good way. Katsuki wasn’t wrong when he said All Might and Deku were both cut from the same cloth. but now when it’s All Might’s turn to go all “I WALK A LONELY ROAD~~” once again, there’s nobody in sight
just, after forty plus years of him carrying this torch, I just wish someone would finally come along to let him know he doesn’t have to. all those things that he wanted to say to Deku are also things that he needs and deserves to hear himself. Aizawa was making a little progress there, but now he’s got his sad zombie cloud boyfriend situation to deal with, and we can’t expect him and his perfect hair to solve all our problems. someone else has gotta step up

it’s honestly the most tamaki has said, and it catches you off guard too.
he seems equally as surprised as you are, however, his intent is solid.

Looooooooooooong venting ahead about why d/h sucks.
So if you ship it and have somehow Goren lost in this tag, turn around, cuz if you continue you might get hurt. You have been warned.
Also I guess language warning and mature themes...? Just to be safe.
I'd also like to give y'all a little side note: I guess I am what people would call a Hawks stan. I personally really like his character and find him intriguing, however I am completely capable of admitting that Hawks has done sum fucked up shit. I still however "stan" Hawks, so I'm going to show why d/h is shit from a logical Hawks stans point of view.
Anyways, without delving too deep into the whole Dabi vs Hawks stuff, since I'm not here for it, I'm here to talk about the shitshow that's dabihawks.
So, first of all I'll give y'all a lil back story as to why I'm here.
Long story short: I accidentally stumbled upon some d/h art and people who still defend the ship (with already debunked theories mind you), I felt kinda sick to my stomach, so I need to vent.
Like they were referring to the fight where Hawks killed Twice and basically said: "DiD yOu SeE hOw HaWkS wAs OnLy LoOkInG dAbI iN tHe EyEs ThE wHoLe TiMe. 🤪 ThAt'S sO gAy!?!?!??!??"
Bish, where was Hawks and Dabi supposed to look at? THE WALL??? They were fighting! Of course they have to keep an eye on each other.
They were also talking about how "DaBi JuSt GoT jElLy CaUsE HaWkS wAs HaNgInG oUt WiTh TwIcE, aNd Is JuSt ClAiMiNg HaWkS!"
And they were saying so much more nasty shit that I'd like to write here, but I don't think I physically can, and I also want to spare everyones brains, cuz I already took the L, like if any of y'all know how to get back my brain cells hit me up.
I also noticed a common theme of people making Hawks the bottom to like a point where they thirsted over the idea of Dabi "destroying" Hawks' insides, if you know what I mean. Which seems to be the opposite for many of you guys here with finding stuff where Dabi is the bottom?
I mean I know many of you guys probably don't like Hawks, but you gotta admit that it's fucked up to think that these shippers think it's hot that one of the people in their makeshift relationship gets seriously hurt in the act without consent. Whether it is Dabi or Hawks they put in that position is irrelevant, they literally like the ship because it's toxic and someone gets hurt.
Like in what world would Hawks let Dabi willingly even get close to him or vice versa. We all know damn well that they despise each other.
Horikoshi has literally shown that these two never trusted each other, never even tolerated each others shit, so why oh why did this become a thing?!
Also, and I know that this can sound annoying to some people... But as a Hawks stan, I don't understand how people can say: "YeAh, I sTaN HaWkS UwU 👉👈, hIm AnD dAbI dEsErVe eAcH oThEr AnD aRe So GoOd ToGeThEr."
"ThEy DeFo FuKiN'! Is CaNoN! 🤪"
Like:
So... Are we just gonna forget that Dabi literally burnt Hawks' wings off? (Which was understandable looking at the context.) Or how Dabi sent some goons after his mother? Or the fact that Hawks literally idolised the very man that Dabi hates with a burning passion?
The shippers: "Oh, BuT hIs WiNgS wIlL gRoW bA-"
Bish! The fact that Hawks didn't die or that his wings are allegedly growing back doesn't mean the ship is relevant again. Hoooooo... it's like I can't catch a breather once in a while.
How are people trynna stan someone and then say: "Yeah, let's pair our favourite person with the person that is trying to hurt them." HOW!? My initial reaction when Hawks and Dabi interact is: "Fuck. Someone's gonna get hurt." Like if I could have it my way Dabi wouldn't be anywhere near Hawks, they are a danger to eachother. There is no damn way I'd want to see the character I stan for hurt, so why do so many damn stans ship it! I just can't wrap my mind around the "appeal". I just don't see the sexual tension that these people talk about.
Anyway I could probably write a whole ass book as to why I personally don't like this ship
but frankly I don't wanna waste your time since it's toxic.
I would like to however debunk a couple of already debunked theories that people use justify the relevance of d/h.
The "childhood friends" theory:
Yup. People still cling to it. However Horikoshi literally trashed, stomped on and lit the theory on fire. We saw that Touya went to a regular school and was trained personally by Endeavor. While Hawks was in the commission. There is no way that they knew each other. The way Dabi got Hawks' real name was through his mother. Dabi ain't dumb, he's actually smart and calculating to a point it's almost a little scary.
The "Dabi freed Hawks and Hawks will turn into a villain":
Boi.... Dabi didn't free Hawks off anything. Dabi tried to kill him and exposed Hawks and his wrongdoings to the world. That ain't love. Hawks isn't even Dabi's main focus, Hawks is literally just one insignificant part of Dabi's plan.
Also, like Horikoshi has wonderfully brought into light, Hawks would never turn to villainy. He didn't even kill Best Jeanist. And he's still, after everything, saying "Endeavor is in trouble." Clearly insinuating that he's going to still help Endeavor. This man is the last person to just become a villain. And people have the audacity to say he'd become a villain because of Dabi. I have no words.
Besides even if for example the childhood friends theory was true (which it isn't, but let's humour the thought) or even IF they were foils, it wouldn't change shit. We'd still be in this situation where they despise each other. Childhood friends wouldn't automatically mean that they'd get along as adults.

And as a short note to end on: I hope I didn't come off as too aggressive. That's not my intention here. Also the text is way less polished and thought out than I'd like it to be, but I honestly don't have the time or energy to give y'all a publishable version of "Why d/h sucks": the Book. So instead you get this. A hastily put together vent cuz I saw sum shit alright.
TLDR: People with a brain can see that these two aren't in love. There has to be some major mental gymnastics in play to get any whiff of chemistry from these two.

BNHA 296 Spoiler Thoughts
Ok, wow. I was just sitting down enjoying my Sunday when the next chapter suddenly decides to drop onto our laps and bring us all to tears. I did not expect it, but I welcome it with somber feels. Of course, since this is the aftermath chapter, I have a lot thoughts. Here we go:
•The chapter starts off with narration from Deku on what happened after the big battle. This tells us that he’s still alive (presumedly) thank god. There’s a panel later that shows him on a stretcher (I think) or a bed, but he’s unconscious. Regardless, I don’t see Deku’s limbs going back to normal after all this unless something comes in to fix them. Eri’s not an option here because she used all her energy on Mirio recently, so don’t go thinking that’ll work unless there’s a time-skip.
•So far, Pixie Bob, Wash, Present Mic, and Thirteen are still alive and fighting. Thirteen, however, seems to have lost an arm when she was in the lab... We do see some of her face, so that’s a reveal if anything.
•Deku says that their were at least 10 Near High-End Nomu in that battlefield. 3 of them were disposed and 7 escaped. We did see one get captured by Best Jeanist in the last chapter so maybe they can get some intel from it.
•Mr. Compress is alive! I’m honestly glad that he’s alive because I could’ve sworn he was going to die. That reveal we had about him being the descendent of the Perilous Thief was just too big for him to be killed off right away. I’m hoping we can learn more about him and the Thief later.
•Back at the resort: ReDestro, Getten, Trumpet, and more than 16,900 PLF soldiers were caught. Edgeshot is still alive too, but he looks tired and his arm is messed up. I do not see that Old Samurai hero from the top 10 around, so my best bet is that he’s alive. I hope...
•Now, we REALLY get a look at all the death and destruction that this war has caused. Adults, kids, and families are either injured or dead. Everyone is traumatized. Thankfully Froppy and Uraraka (I can’t spell her first name right to save me...) are working on rescuing (Uraraka in particular is good for this thanks to her Zero Gravity). A lot of other heroes like Koda and Manga are helping out too, but the screams of people in pain and horror do not leave the pages and it’s honestly haunting to read.
•And poor Uraraka. As she’s saving people, you can see her hair get messier and messier. There’s one really well-drawn, but sad, panel of her with spots of blood on her and her hair isn’t “floaty” like it normally is. It’s droopy and straight down like she’s been caught in rain or something. I’m not used to her being like this. This war is going to make her rethink things, I think.
•There’s one hero, who in the mist of all this, says that this whole thing was a mistake. He’s thinking about finding a new job. I highly doubt he’s the only on thinking this. War affects people badly. They want to fight for the greater good, but the cost is their own mentality, physicality, and even their lives. Sometimes other people’s lives. So, in a world of heroes where things like this happen on a devastating scale, you have to wonder “Is being a hero really worth it?” I’m sure more heroes, maybe even students, will be thinking about this in the future. I won’t be surprised if some quit entirely.
•And now the hero death toll. Oh my god... The first thing I saw when I saw the leaks was Midnight’s death. I’m devastated. Her horniness aside, I loved her character. Midnight genuinely cared for her students and wanted them to grow into amazing heroes. She supported her high school friends, Present Mic and Aizawa, the whole way through including Shirakumo’s death. She adopted the cat the 4 of them took care of during high school and I believe it’s still alive today. I can’t imagine what Mic and Aizawa are going to feel when they hear about this. I honestly thought she was going to make it out alive. I thought that she was safe and had some plot armor on her. But no. She’s dead. Midnights’s not coming back. The students are mourning her especially Mina, Kirishima, and Momo. The three main players in the sedative plan. Their plan worked, but had it worked sooner, a lot of lives could’ve been saved. Ultimately, none of this is their fault, but it’s going to weigh on them heavily. Please give these kids therapy.
•Adding onto Midnight, heroes like Crust, Majestic, X-Less, and Native are dead. We know about Midnight, Crust, and X-Less now, but the rest were not known yet. I doubled out Majectic and Native here for reasons. Majestic was Momo’s 2nd intern mentor before the war. We didn’t know much about him or his Quirk (it was some sort of levitation via ring platforms), but he did save the student’s lives when they were about to be run over by Gigantomachia. Looks like that was a sacrifice. Native, if you remember, was the hero Iida, Deku, and Shoto saved back in Hosu back when they fought Stain. We didn’t know much about him, but it sucks to know that he was saved then only to be killed now. This will probably hurt Iida, Deku, and Shoto real bad knowing that saving him became pretty null and void in the end.
•Aside from that, the rest of them look like they were young, in their prime, or veterans in the world of Pro Heroes. It just sucks in general to have to see all these lives cut short. But, that’s how war goes, unfortunately.
•Endeavor... I’m one of the people who actually like Endeavor. I will never forgive him for what he did to Shoto and his family pre-Sports Festival. But, I wanted to see how he would redeem himself after Kosu. So far, he was doing well. He didn’t expect forgiveness and only wanted to atone. Everything in the Todoroki family was finally going well. And then Dabi/Touya showed up and screwed up everything. Now, everyone knows about Endeavor’s past as an abuser and they will never see him in the same light again. I don’t think he has a choice but to admit to his sins publicly and then retire. I hate the idea because he is a good hero, but I don’t see any other way he’s going to get out of this. Same with Hawks. I don't see him going back to hero work either.
•There’s one small panel with 2 kids from the short Remedial Course Arc we got with Shoto and Bakugo. Rough translation, one of the kids asks if things will be okay and the other says that they’ll be fine because “That’s what Five Weenies told us after all!” This broke me. “Five Weenies” refers to Shoto Todoroki. As funny as this should be, hearing that Shoto, the one who arguably got mentally scared the most in this whole battle, still gives those kids hope that everything will be okay... I just don’t know what to say. I’m glad Shoto kept those kid’s spirits alive (Bakugo did too; neither are visibly in this chapter for some reason), but he is by no means “fine”. #GiveShotoTodorokiTherapy2020
•And finally All For One. Fuck this guy. All that death and destruction and he wants more. The translation’s still rough, but based on what he says in the end, I think we are going to get a Prison Break Arc. He says “Go free my main body.” to the Nomus AFO is still in Tartarus. Guess who else is there? Stain, Overhaul (the Ultra Analysis said that he got prosthetics or something for his arms and his Quirk adapted to that) , Moonfish, Kurogiri, I think Muscular, and plenty of other villains. Horikoshi hinted that Moonfish might come back (he was apparently going to executed, but idk...) and the preview says “The worst is yet to come”... Yeah, this war is over. We’re really only just beginning.

Since you read Naruto recently can you give me your honest opinion of it? Like, is it worth it?
I've never read it or watched the anime, but I know some fans don't like certain things about the series, big things. Like, the main girl, the ending, and something involving the other guy (Sasuke?). (Also, the new series and the canon ships)
Also, I'm following this manga, and a lot of people say: "Omg, this is way better than Naruto!" But I honestly don't see anything special about it, and I'm kinda afraid that if "that's better" then just what happens in Naruto?
So, anyway, I really want to read the series (it's a classic after all), but I'm a little hesitant about it. Also, you read it as an adult (I'm assuming, idk your real age) so I want the opinion of an adult.
P.S - I'm asking you this cuz I read Harry Potter as an adult, which means that I noticed many flaws, and when I pointed them out to people who grew up with the series, oh boy, let's just say that I lost some friends.

So here's a few posts where I talk about *some* of my thoughts on Naruto.
But I'll expand a bit more too.
If you truly enjoy BNHA, you will enjoy Naruto. My blog is mostly BNHA content so I'm assuming you follow that series if you're in my inbox lol. So if you like BNHA then yes it's absolutely worth reading. It's really cool to see the little inspirations from Naruto Horikoshi picked to use in BNHA, and it's just overall a fun story.
Now every story is going to have something worth critiquing or complaining about. But you might want to ask people why they don't like certain things about it, or rather WHAT exactly don't they like.
For example, if someone tells me they didn't like Naruto because every villain was redeemed, well, I automatically don't take their opinion seriously after that. Same for people who complain about BNHA because the main character cries a lot. I honestly don't care about your opinion if that's the kind of thing you just can't stand about a story. That’s just me tho ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So like...why don't they like Naruto. It's okay that they don't, but ask them why. Because a lot of people read manga and truly expect typical--superhero kills the villain and everyone worships him in the end--type of story. Power fantasy. Which manga usually aren't like that. I mean power fantasies yes, but accompanied by other things they don’t like. There's a lot of villains switching sides, people being shown compassion and empathy and in general expressing a lot of emotions (Naruto and Deku crying a lot), and some people don't vibe with that and that's fine. But maybe they should pick a different genre to read ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As for Sasuke, man I really don't know what everyone's beef is with him. I'll say that his "redemption" was a little rocky at the end, but his overall arc and story was great. He's my favorite from the manga. Again, that brings me back to why don't they like Sasuke? Is it because he defected and went "bad"? Because, well, that's how plots work. Shit happens. I say that because I've heard my irl friends say they hated Sasuke too and it's like.....it's a story....he's gonna do bad things. People just act like they're personally getting attacked when a character doesn't do what they want. I don't get it. Anyway, I'm always really skeptical of peoples' opinions on stories, especially if they have wack opinions on other series. That kinda tells me all I need to know on whether I should trust their opinions or not....lol.
The way Naruto handled its romance is not unique to this series, and it’s certain not unique how Naruto handled its female characters. That’s pretty much any fucking shounen manga where the female leads just kinda suck in general. So that’s not really a reason to me personally to write off the story completely. But some people may find it to be. It’s all personal preference really.
But TLDR:
Yes it’s worth reading. It’s a great story. The friendship focus is very present in it and, to me, it has a heart warming ending. It has a happy ending which makes it worth it on its own.
But yes, I will recommend reading it.

what do you think of bakugou and endeavor redemption arcs?

I feel like bnha is always on the precipice of like. Touching on some REAL stuff but it always backs out at the last moment.
First of all im a big hater of both characters so expect a biased opinion here (lol). But i do think they are “good characters” as in they are interesting and pertinent to the plot, complex etc. bleh. bleh bleh. but the way their arcs are written.... lots of things rly dont sit right with me
**Fair warning i dont have the english skills to phrase this whole thing better.
1. Bkg first. I remember when bkg took the hit for deku i made fun of the whole thing bc OFCC thats how we r going to “redemp” him. Which in one hand ok, it does stay true to bkgs character bc he literally cannot communicate his feelings to save his life, hes more of an action guy. But also i really do think the buildup for that moment can be pushed more. And im not even gonna blame bkgs character entirely here bc he IS an established stubborn ass with the communication skills of a tadpole etc etc. what im gonna blame is the way horikoshi never lets deku even TOUCH on the bullying he’s endured before UA. Its literally never been discussed. Like the only time it IS brought up is the flashback we get right before bkg sacrificed himself. But deku, instead, never got the chance to process any of it. And i think thats my main problem with the whole bkg thing (and ofc there is a vindictive part where i feel like bkg hasnt got enough “repercussions” for it, which may be arguable, but thats a whole different ballpark).
i especially think bkg should apologize outright/address what he’s done to deku, but if horikoshi wants to drag that speech out (and thats if the speech will ever happen in the first place) i can accept that. BUT. to me. It has to be equal... as in deku should be allowed to address that too.
I get that deku is a virtuous main character who will supposedly forgive kacchan no matter what or whatever. And fuck it you know what, thats okay. But im begging let deku at least process it in some way. Bc the thing about deku’s character is whenever he gets angry, its always on behalf of someone else’s and not himself.
Which, again, is a virtue. But i also think the author tapping out on the whole bullying issue is kinda a coward move. Even when deku dukes it out with bkg its always about “im gonna get stronger and be number one kacchan!!111” and not “man you irreparably damaged my entire childhood and told me to [redacted] myself.”
literally the whole bullying nuance is casted out and replaced immediately with some boys will be boys rivalry. Which, really, just looks like the author taking the easy way out to me.
I can see how much both characters have grown, tho, and its clear that they care about each other. but the development is really :/ it leaves much to be desired wtf.
I’m not satisfied w bkg’s redemption arc thingy but i dont expect anything better either. I think if i were to reread bnha from the beginning i can have a clearer perspective on the whole thing, but i dont really feel the incentive for that bc it simply doesnt compel me enough to do so LOL.
If its worth anything, i dont really hate bkg anymore. only sometimes lmfao
2. End*avor. Ugh.
Ok. I love family drama its like crack to me. the whole dabi thing had me yelling forreal. And todoroki fam has like some of my most favorite characters in the whole series.
I dont even wanna discuss end*avors character... like honestly, the ones that shine the most in end*avor redemption arc are the other family members and not end*avor himself. Which on one hand i appreciate but also i might be biased? But im really <3 over how we get todoroki rei’s character development from this arc. Not only is rei’s arc cathartic as hell but its also very, very encouraging to see a character stands over her ab*ser like that after suffering for so long. I cant express how much i love that. And fuyumi and natsuo? Insanity. I esp love how fuyumi’s efforts get the appreciation they deserve.
And i liked the surprise where dabi rained on end*avor’s parade right after end*avor thought he could actually redeem himself. Ok im not gonna sugarcoat it i just liked to watch dabi fucked him over, it was a standing applause eureka moment for me.
Honestly i think the whole concept is really delicious, like the son of the number 1 hero is a villain thing, heroes arent saints, etc etc etc. like that is so sexi so dramatic so soap opera literal superhero telenovela and i loved it a lot. Like i really enjoyed reading the whole thing. so like. i am entertained.
Do i feel like end*avor has redeemed himself? Mm NO <3. I appreciate the details that he himself thinks that he is unforgivable (blehh) and he DID suffer which was nice to watch, personally. but its not enough and it will never be <3
im not sure if i think this way bc i just think what he did is irredeemable or bc the storytelling sucked OR BOTH <3. And i still do feel bnha did that thing where it backed out at the last moment with end*avor’s arc.... like it was touching it but it still didnt want to get its hands dirty, you know? Like what stance is it taking, really? It just never goes all out.
i think some details about this arc also irk me...... like why does the rest family got to shoulder the burden of his fuck ups? <3 die <3 like this part annoys me so much. and seeing how he got to be comforted after everything he’s done.................................................... i cant even say how much that just ... pisses tf out of me <3 haha
like thats the thing. i feel like both characters (bkg n end*avor) are still coddled despite everything.
im fully aware im biased tho. and no i will not change
leaving that clownery aside, i didnt expect bnha to take this direction, so like. ..Applause i suppose :/. The recent arcs have been a pleasant surprise in some part and i will still be following its developments. i do genuinely think both characters are interesting btw i just kinda hate them lmfaooo.
honestly, what i do. is just to keep low standards 🙌
TLDR I dont rly feel like either characters have redeemed themselves and i feel some disappointments over their respective arcs but i like the development n direction that the story is taking overall.

Okay so id hate it if Dabi died and i got legit scared when i saw how far he was going to fuck himself up. Like his arc literally feels like it just started it would suck so bad if he died rn. Idk if i mentioned this before but i feel like Dabi himself sees this as his final arc so hes going all out and is fully ready to die, but to us readers it feels like an arc start after a very long set up so idk it would just feel super pointless if he died in this arcm i want him to get captured and to slowly realize and come to regret his mistakes and how pointless and crule his actiona were
Anyway shiggy got his big blow out, immidietly got overshadowed by dabis big blow out, im looking at spinner n mr compress there like hey guys wanna do something wild and overshadow him now? A lot of villain arcs are coming to end/culmination in this arc and i hope for some of them we see them sizzling out into more of an introspective arc
The next surprise being Mr. Compress backstory (...might as well considering that Horikoshi keeps throwing reveals in this arc one after the other...)
But I do agree with you about Dabi and his arc:
For Dabi, this confrontation is the end of his goals, he’s finally pushed Endeavor into the corner as all of his plans fall into place and the way he’s behaving really shows us he’s going all out to drive home that this is the end for him and Endeavor, the final confrontation.
However for us, Dabi’s arc has only just began. This is the first time he’s done something big and showed us his true colours. I also believe he’s being set up to be Shouto’s villain considering how Dabi’s view of his quirk is a very similar parallel to how Shouto once saw his too (Dabi keeps insisting their Endeavor’s flames to take the blame of himself and I can’t wait for Shouto to tell him that they’ve always been his).
I really don’t think Dabi is dying anytime soon. He’s done his part as Endeavor’s consequence for his actions and now it’s time to face his own.

Not because he thought it looked bad, it was more because of him constantly being reminded about his past. Reminded about the pain and struggle he had to go through. It was a very sensitive topic, as why you knew not to talk about it, unless he wanted to.

💥 Bakugou stared at cold to the floor. His sudden calm behaviour even scared you a little.
💥,,His liscense, huh? Isn't it always the fucking same? Deku here, Deku there! Even All Might is sucking on his tiddy. HE PISSES ME OFF SO MUCH!'', he screames kicking his books to the floor. ,,HOW THE FUCK DID HE DO THAT? WHAT MAKES HIM THINK HE'S BETTER THAN ME? WHAT EVEN MAKES HIM BETTER , THAT ALL MIGHT PICKS THIS WEAKLING OVER ME?''', he continues outbursting, as he fell on his knees supporting himself with his hands on the floor. He looked weak and exhausted, what terrefied you a lot.
💥You've heard Bakugo complain about Midoriya Kun a lot before, but it was never to this extend. You can hear him heavy breathing, on the edge to loose all the control over himself and cry. But Bakugo is way too stubborn and proud, just to expose his weakness to another person like this.
💥Worried you rush towards him, kneeling across from him, as you muster the ash blonde eccentric. Yeah, he is probably super upset about Midoriya, but you knew there must've been something else tearing the young hero apart from the insie.
💥You lightly pull his head into your arms, his forehead resting against your shoulder
💥,,What the fuck am I doing wrong? If I only was stronger back then, our symbol off peace would still be alive. My symbol of peace. My hero. I fucking killed All Might and I will never forgive myself for that", he mumbles against your shirt, as you felt him fighting back the tears.
💥,,You should know, that you are in fact very strong. Strong for letting me know about how you feel, although feelings aren't something you like to talk about. Katsuki, you are one of the strongest and most dedicated people I've ever seen. You never let anybody stop you from chasing after what you desire the most and end up reaching your goal.‘‘, you paused while gently caressing his head. Bakugo didn‘t say anything, making clear he wanted you to continue, ,, I mean look at me, I hated you the most but you made me a soft dumpling for you", you giggled, feeling Bakugou sliding his arms ournd your waist. ,,I won't try to tell you something, All Might didn't tell you already, but I am assuring you that you're nowhere near weak! You are my hero, Katsuki. Please never forget that.''
💥Tears build up in your eyes, as he let's out a scream of frustration and pain. Your heart was aching because you knew that the oh so confident and strong boy you loved more than anything was paining so much, without you knowing it.
💥,,I'm so sorry, that you had to bear this all alone, Suki'', you mumlble against his hair. Minutes passed of you guys resting in this position as you soon felt him calming down under your grip.
💥You playfully placed a thick kiss against his cheek releasing a loud ,,Mwah'' just to see jokingly wipe it away in disgust.

like there’s an absurdity in that that works, it’s so divorced from the reality of bullying in my experience i can’t be mad, bakugou exists in this absurdist world of childhood turf wars and gangsters no one else around him inhabits but still assumes these five year olds are also Like That

but also I think it’s interesting that the show actually nudges at its more realistic thoughts on how violence impacts children.

i think I saw this panel going around so i checked but in the manga
Bakugo actually did remember the time he overheard Todoroki’s backstory? and is like “oh right that IS how he was raised too, like to a MUCH worse level than me, i guess that’s why he’s so against this huh" so that’s why he’s like “fine go ahead try your thing” even if he does it in an asshole way
it’s weird the anime didn’t include this? it shows Bakugo’s HAS gained indeed like .5 percent more emotional intelligence from his recent experiences, overhearing that DID impact him in some way and he DOES realize much as he resents Todoroki. the kids been through shit and so he should back off when it comes to some things, which seems significant as a step for a character who’s usually so bad at showing empathy but WHATEVER.
also im ignoring everything about cami once again and how horikoshi made literal five year old girls conform to his 1 (1) joke about catty female stereotypes trying to outsexy each other that he will use over and over again.

toga himiko
its about fucking time, i missed her
- she likes to collect the weirdest things. knives, cool looking leaves, bugs she finds on her walls, jars to keep the bugs in. she decides to start collecting things as soon as she has more than three in her possession at one time. the league has no idea what to think about this.
- occasionally she'll show up to meetings as spinner. spinner has no fucking idea when or how she got his blood, and everyone else is somewhat wary that she has their blood, too, and will not hesitate to use it at any point.
- she goes on walks sometimes (in places not very populated for obvious reasons) and will just take in her surroundings. it's not often she gets time to herself anymore and constantly being around other people exhausts her sometimes so she'll just leave for indeterminate amounts of time.
- himiko's gotten into the habit of trying to stab people as a first greeting. needless to say this is awful and never ends up well
- i like to think she's sort of adopted the league as her family, even if they don't all see her that way. they're her older siblings, except for kurogiri who had a very spicific fatherly aura to him, and occasionally mr. compress, who also has a fatherly aura to him
- she used to have frequent girl hangouts with magne before the stuff with the yakuza happened, so now whenever she does her makeup on her own or tries to have a spa day she'll get super sad because her friend isn't there with her. she also has no idea how to do makeup on her own and will often ask the others if they know. mr. compress refuses to let her know he does.
- now that she has an eyepatch she likes to use it as an excuse to call people by the wrong name or tell people they're ugly like "oh sorry i didn't realize who you were or what you looked like because you were on my bad side :/" and she's the only one who gets a kick out of it
- her favorite thing to do used to be stealing the hand on shigaraki's face. he would throw a hissy fit and she found it funny. now, though, it's annoying the shit out of hawks because, since he's on their side, he won't arrest her, and since he wants to be seen as trustworthy he won't attack her. he's the perfect target to bother all day every day. twice often joins in because he genuinely thinks they're just trying to befriend the guy
- also himiko and twice are best friends this is non-negotiable
- her nails are perfectly manicured to be goddamned knives like those things can and will cut you to shreds given the chance
- her hair is always put up into messy buns because she never learned how to do any other hairstyle other than a basic ponytail or pigtails. she doesn't even know how to make them clean or nice buns she just throws them up every day and hopes they look fine
- himiko really loves red meat but, before the whole liberation front thing came around, the league didn't have nearly enough money for that so she stuck to eating whatever they could get their hands on, which was more likely then not super cheap sushi that will definitely make you sick
- contrary to popular belief, she actually is low-key in love with midoriya and uraraka, she just has the absolute worst way of showing and expressing it. she sees expressing love in a weird way and twists it to attune to her quirk and what can be assumed of her past. she really does like the people around her, and she really does have crushes on midoriya and uraraka, but it's just expressed differently, causing many to write it off as an odd obsession
- she does not own a toothbrush. this nasty bitch(/j) does not brush her teeth. her sharp teeth instantly tear up any toothbrush she tries to use and the league just didn't have the expenses to pay for it, and she was not about to use a toothbrush from a dumpster or something. gross.
- she doesn't quite know how to hate someone. this ties in to her skewed sense of love, as she just loves and loves and loves that at some point she forgot how to hate. sure, she dislikes people, or sometimes she dislikes their actions, but she can never bring herself to hate someone. she's doesn't know how. this becomes a problem considering she's literally 17 and also affiliated with villains which means she's around so many horrible people all the time
- HER FANGS ARE LIKE STRAWS SEND TWEET
- she has no academic knowledge past, like, maybe middle school. she knows basic math but she could not for the life of her tell you anything about algebra. she could go on for hours about knives and the different kinds and their variety of uses but ask her anything about science and she Will Not be able to tell you. she doesn't know anything about anything and she's proud to be a dumbass.
- her favorite animals are birds (especially tiny orb-like ones, you know the ones)
- she's the only one in the league that has a phone that isn't a burner. she is very active on social media and has the best time prank calling people. shigaraki once got on her case about it, because it's much easier to track her phone, but she brushed him off completely. she also has a bunch of cute little charms attatched to her phone
- also no one knows how she got the phone because they're all broke as fuck and she flat out refuses to tell
- before she joined the league, she would go around steal blood from random people with no pattern and just walk around as their double for a day
- also, before she became a wanted criminal, she liked to go to crowded meet ups like cons and stuff and just make friends because, guys, she's literally like, 17. she never kept any of her friends though, for obvious reasons :(
- occasionally, she will find shigaraki and spinner playing video games together and obsolutely crashes the party. she's crazy good at mario kart but sucks at almost every other game that's ever existed, even other racecart games
- i love her and although we just had a villain arc in the manga i miss her :( horikoshi give me my girl back where is she

so while I am not fully caught up with Vigilantes, I have read far enough to know that there’s an American hero named Captain Celebrity whose superpower from what I recall is being a humongous douchebag. and while I haven’t read far enough to know what happens to this guy, I can’t say I’m very disappointed to learn that he’s no longer the number one hero in the U.S. (actually, didn’t they kick him out and that’s why he moved to Japan to begin with?). anyway, so my thanks to Horikoshi for having a marginally higher opinion of Americans than Furuhashi, even though we have definitely not done anything to warrant said opinion lately, and you may have inadvertently opened the door to a pandora’s box of discourse lmao
(ETA: lol I went into the tags and they don’t disappoint. “why is she dressed like a flag” because she’s an homage to Captain America and Major Victory and literally every other character on this list. again, I apologize for fictional American superheroes being Like This. “oh boy another thicc waifu to make the fanboys happy” look, tumblr fandom never seems to have a problem thirsting over Dabi or Tomura or Aizawa or Nao, lol, I’m just saying. “where is Captain Celebrity” idk, probably murdered by the exploding bee cartel, let’s just be grateful for our good fortune and try not to Beetlejuice the man.)
anyway, so let’s see if Horikoshi’s recent character development with regards to making Mineta not terrible anymore will apply to other aspects of his writing as well. I know I was making light of discourse just now, but I do think the complaints about him introducing yet another new character at the 11th hour to be cannon fodder in the final battle are absolutely valid. and again, it wouldn’t be a problem if he didn’t keep maiming/killing off his female characters one by one instead of developing them and letting them kick ass long-term. but that said, I will never complain about Horikoshi adding another female character to the series, regardless of how clumsy the attempt may be. go ahead and pander away, just give us more girl power lol
anyway so we’ll see how it goes, but I think I’m gonna be optimistic and let myself hope once again, even though I’m probably gonna regret it lol. it is what it is. she is standing on an airplane just chilling for fuck’s sake. I’m only human. anyway fingers crossed

some follow-up thoughts on BnHA 306
mostly Deku angst, but also a little Baku angst (and some TodoBaku angst) mixed in for good measure. because there’s plenty of angst to go around.
1. “if I’d only been stronger...”
I’ll talk more about Deku later in this post as well, because there’s definitely plenty to talk about; this is the most character development he’s gotten in almost 200 chapters. but for starters, I want to discuss the possible parallels between Deku’s current character arc, and what is arguably the most iconic moment of angst/character development in the series.
remember how this kid, who up until this point had rarely seemed to give two fucks about the world around him, suddenly revealed that he blamed himself for being the downfall of All Might? remember how it came almost out of nowhere? how he’d been hiding it, and trying to suppress it? “but even if I try to forget... sometimes it all just comes rushing back.”
yeah. so anyway, I got to thinking -- if being the cause of one hero’s downfall could affect someone this badly, what about being responsible for the downfall of all heroes?
what if a boy who wanted nothing more than to keep people safe suddenly found himself at the epicenter of a disaster that killed hundreds, possibly even thousands of people?
now obviously, this is not the sole thing that’s troubling Deku right now; this kid has a whole array of traumas as of the War arc. like, you know it’s bad when Society As We Know It Coming To An End Partially Because Of You is the least of your problems. but still, I think this is worth bringing up, because the hero kids blaming themselves for things that aren’t their fault is hardly anything new. and yet, what with everything else that’s been going on -- all of the Todoroki drama, and Vestige revelations, and hospital antics, and political strife -- I feel like it’s easy to forget or overlook this little detail.
the fact is that AFO put this entire plan into motion solely in the hopes of finally obtaining OFA. every single thing that happened at Jakku -- Tomura powering up; Machia waking up and going on his rampage (after being ordered to do so by Tomura); and even Dabi/Touya choosing this moment to finally strike (because he knew this was when the reveal would do the maximum damage -- when people’s faith in heroes was already wavering) -- every last bit of it can ultimately be traced back to AFO’s desire to steal OFA. which, obviously, makes it AFO’s fault, not Deku’s. but then, Kamino wasn’t actually Katsuki’s fault either. it wasn’t his fault the villains went after him (but he blamed himself anyway), and it wasn’t his fault that people got hurt in the ensuing battle to save him (but he blamed himself anyway).
just. I think we’re underestimating just how strong of an impact all of this likely had on Deku. we haven’t really had the chance to see him process it yet. he’s been too busy, and there have been too many other things going on. but I’m telling you guys, that empty look in his eyes in the final page of the chapter? I can all but guarantee you that at least some of that emotional weight is coming from this.
sure would be nice if he had a friend who knew exactly what that was like, and could help him process the guilt and all of the other associated emotions, just like Deku once helped him. unfortunately I’m not so sure things will be that easy this time around. anyways though let’s move on to a couple of other thoughts and speculations.
2. “...and I bullied him.”
one of my least-favorite BnHA fanfic tropes is the one where the rest of class 1-A somehow finds out about Katsuki and Deku’s history -- i.e. that Katsuki bullied Deku throughout most of their childhood. mind you, it’s not the concept itself that I dislike; it’s mostly how it’s used. a lot of times it’s just an excuse to have all of the other kids turn on Katsuki and ostracize him; either because the author thinks that’s what he deserves, or else so that Deku can eventually come to his rescue and defend him and shame the rest of the class for not seeing how much he’s changed. either way, it’s usually pretty awkward to read, and more often than not the characters are pretty OOC (especially Ochako and Todoroki).
however! there’s a big difference between fanfic and canon, and just because I’m not a fan of this trope in the former doesn’t mean it couldn’t be executed well in the latter. and lately I’ve been thinking about this a lot. mainly for three reasons:
the recent (can we still call it recent?? well whatever) scene where Katsuki confessed to All Might that he used to bully Deku is now one of my favorite scenes in the entire series, and proof that this can be executed well.
both Todoroki and Deku have finally had their respective big secrets revealed to the rest of the class. so like, idk. feels like it just might be secret-revealing season now, you know?
and lastly, as a result of Deku’s secret about OFA finally being revealed, the rest of 1-A now either knows, or can extrapolate, that he used to be quirkless.
and from there, I feel like it’s not all that hard to put two and two together with how terrible Kacchan and Deku’s relationship was when they first started at UA. that’s not a terribly difficult puzzle to solve. so I feel like it might come out anyway, and if so, I’d prefer Bakugou telling them himself, and taking responsibility as part of his atonement process. because we know that he regrets it. we know their relationship has changed. we know that he has changed. and so I think I might like to see this.
alternately, if confessing to the entire class is too much, at the very least I could see him confessing to Shouto, because I’ve always felt like this was one of the big things that made Katsuki so resistant to letting Todoroki call him a friend. because I feel like there’s a part of Katsuki that saw the parallels between Endeavor’s abuse of Shouto and his own bullying of Deku, and thought, he wouldn’t be so quick to call me his friend if he actually knew the truth. and so there’s actually been this roadblock wedged between them this whole time that Shouto doesn’t even know about. because Shouto hates Endeavor. and so it’s not such a leap to assume he’d hate Katsuki too if he knew just how terrible he’d been to Deku when they were younger.
not that I think he actually would! actually I don’t think either of those things is actually true (because Shouto clearly doesn’t hate his father either, in spite of everything that’s happened). but the point isn’t what I think -- the point is what Katsuki thinks. and I really do think there’s a good chance he’s worried about Shouto hating him, and it’s one of the things that’s made him so reluctant to accept his friendship. anyway, so I’m really just rambling now, but you get my point. I don’t know if this is actually going to happen, but it’s a scene I would like to see if Horikoshi decides to indulge me.
3. “...so when you wake up, please give him my best.”
and now, as promised, back to Deku.
ngl guys, when I first saw this image, my immediate thought was that Gran must have died. because I mean, hello, leaving U.A.?? donning himself in his teacher’s old cape?? empty, exhausted look in his eyes?? what else were we supposed to think lol.
but maybe that was an overreaction. because when I think about it more, Gran’s death isn’t strictly necessary in order to push Deku over the edge. first of all, there’s already the whole “hero society is in ruins now because of you” thing I mentioned earlier. but also, there are just so many other things. like, let’s just list them here because omg. what a rough couple of days this kid had.
he was forced to battle TomurAFO and was terribly injured in the process (most of which was his own fault, but he wouldn’t have gone that far with OFA unless he felt like he had no choice)
and it wasn’t just him that was injured, either. in fact, even though he tried to act as bait to keep everyone else safe, he wasn’t able to stop three of the people closest to him from nearly being killed right before his eyes
and of course that last one was especially traumatic, because it was Kacchan, and because he had to watch Kacchan nearly die just to protect him. out of all the things that Deku witnessed in this arc, this might be the one that had the biggest impact on him
he was also basically helpless to do anything to protect Shouto and Endeavor when Dabi showed up. so again, we have this running theme of people he cares about being hurt and him not being able to save them
and he also got sucked into the OFA Interstellar Dream Vortex for a brief spell during the battle, during which he learned that AFO had possessed Tomura. more importantly, he learned that Tomura was Nana’s grandson, a fact which was only briefly touched on during that scene, but which I think wound up being the trigger to the whole avalanche that ended with Deku leaving UA. but more on that in a moment
anyway so just to wrap this all up, the battle eventually ended, Tomura got away despite all of their efforts, and then Deku wound up comatose in the hospital for two days. which brings us to the most recent chapters, during which
Deku learns that he will be the last wielder of OFA, whether he likes or not
Deku learns the identity of the last two mystery OFA users
and then at some point, he wakes up and presumably talks to Gran, and winds up with his cape
something happened during these last two scenes which helped to push Deku over the edge. I won’t delve into the matter of the Second or Third users for now, although most of you already know my suspicions regarding that, and I do think that would fit into the general pattern here (that is, the pattern of Deku feeling more and more strongly that he is putting the people around him in danger, and his fear of losing them becoming so overwhelming that it eventually pushes him to leave).
but that’s not what I want to talk about for now. what I want to talk about is Gran. specifically, what it is that Deku discussed with Gran. and this is where we come back to that reveal I mentioned earlier -- that Tomura is Nana’s grandchild.
basically, what I think happened is that Deku mentioned seeing Nana in the OFA Zany Psychedelic Spirit Void, which led to the topic of Tomura, and the fun fact Deku recently learned about him being related to Nana. this, in turn leads to Gran divulging his various regrets about everything that happened with him and Nana and Kotarou. his intent is to apologize to Deku for placing the burden of their failures on him. unfortunately, the part that Deku actually gets fixated on instead is this:
All for One hunted down and killed Nana’s son (and probably her husband as well), and stole her grandchild and psychologically tortured him into becoming a mass murderer, for no other reason than that Nana had once held OFA
in other words, AFO can and will hurt and kill anyone Deku is close to, anyone who has any kind of connection to him at all, without mercy, and regardless of whether it actually gives him any kind of tactical advantage or not. he’ll do it simply to hurt him. no other reason necessary.
I don’t know about you, but for me that would be a terrifying realization. and for Deku, I think it just might have been the tipping point.
so, let’s recap.
Deku learns that AFO is after him
AFO/Tomura very nearly kills several of Deku’s most important people, including Kacchan
and then he learns that this is just the tip of the iceberg, and realizes that all of their lives are still in danger and will continue to be as long as Deku is AFO’s target
and then add to all of this the misplaced guilt about society already being shambles, and the heroes already having more than enough to worry about. they’re barely holding things together as it is. and we already know how Deku feels about being a burden to them:
and so instead, he leaves. of course he does. in hindsight, I think this was inevitable.
the question is, did anyone else also put the pieces together in time to realize what Deku was planning before he actually left? specifically, did Katsuki, who understands Deku’s self-sacrificial nature better than anyone else, see the signs and put two and two together? like he did back at Jakku?
and if he did, would Deku have been willing to accept his help again?
somehow, I can’t help but think it might not be that easy this time.
anyway, so that was a lot of rambling, lol. sorry about that. I JUST HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS about all of this angsty shit. tired nomad Deku needs hugs and comfort and someone to reassure him that he doesn’t have to face this alone, and that everything is going to be all right. HE IS JUST A LITTLE BOY. this is too much, and I cannot handle any of these feels, and oh my god, somebody please help him.
