Every once in a while I think about my old L.upin III s/i and the whole situation they had going on with him and man...
#pan rambles#My ramble is gonna be a bit somber so feel free to just scroll past it!#but anyways#I think about that insert a lot#They didn't want the life of a thief#They only started because their mother was being tricked by loan sharks to they simply stole from said loan sharks-#(oh yeah. this s/i had a mother and she's her whole character and e everything.)#(Most my s/is have parents but I never delve on them because their relationship with them is bad/complicated usually)#(this one is different mainly bc was more based on my Sona which may be called Panchi but is like it's own separate entity from my inserts)#back to the point though.#They didn't want to become a thief but ultimately they stole and now they felt like they had no other choice but to continue#They meet friends ofc but they still feel guilt for their life of a thief. even if they're closer to a robin hood type of thief#they still feel guilty. And then they eventually meet L.upin#and like it or not...they become charmed by him. They're both leaders of their own groups and pretty smart.#The two were on opposing teams at first but their groups eventually get along and Panchi is happy. They were always happy to help L.upin#and eventually they realize that the reason they like helping him/seeing him is because they've fallen in love with him#They've fallen for the great L.upin the T.hird. The two have had their ship tease moments but it never went beyond that#And unfortunately for them...The love isn't quite requited. There's this scene between him and F.ujiko at the end of Part 5 that just.#Hurts Panchi. The feeling that the one they love-the first person they fell for simply loves someone else.#oh man that reminds me of this moment in Part 4. Da Vinci gives each character a challenge of sorts near the end#Panchi was placed in a Perfect Dream world and their challenge was to find what was wrong with it/to snap out of it#what snaps them back to reality was the fact that L.upin wasn't in the “perfect” dream world. Their feelings for him were that strong#Anyways. point is. This s/i has a life they didn't want and in the end didn't get the guy-#It's quite a melancholic s/i when I think about them too hard. they work so much and never catch a break#A part of me still does like L.upin and wants to go back to shipping him but then I just get insecure (?) I guess. it's so strange#but anyways! haha thank you to anyone who listened to my kinda sad ramble!#I miss L.upin a lot. He has a special place in my heart

what if Danny give no fu-ks
Ok hear me out, Dannys obsession has never truest been confirmed by the show itself (that I remember) I've seen a lot of people say his obsession comes from wanting to help / protect people. But what if he feels as though that he is now doing more damage than good, after all there are a lot of people getting hurt as colateral damage from the chases he has to go on. Or simply when he has to run away from getting captured.
What if one night he was up late and saw a post about a tragedy that happened because he slipped up (it wasn't even his fault, but he still blames himself for everything). And then he starts looking at all the bad comments against him ignoring all the good ones saying how much Danny Phantom has helped Amity. Because Danny is still human and confirmation bias is real. Imagine how he felt the moment he realized that he was causing people to get hurt instead of keeping them save.
Image the desperation clawing at him with the realization that he has never been able to fully manage his obsession. it makes him sad, desperate, angry.
His entire self is filled with too many emotions at the sametime he isn't even able to identify them and catalogue them properly like Jazz taught him.
and then everything stops and he feels nothing.
Completely and utterly numb.
Like his whole reason to keep going suddenly disappears.
And it has.
He gave up on his obsession and now he has to make / get a new one.
But it's not that easy.
This drastic change could've ended any ghost as they run on (live off) emotions.
Luckily because he's a Halfa, so that has given him the upper hand. Unfortunately it makes it so that he is completely devoid of any emotion.
Months go by and people immediately notice changes, the more drastic one is that Phantom went missing, and eventually a lot of ghost that where coming in looking for him stop. Amity Park is no longer populated by ghosts, and slowly the GIW started to retreat from Amity going to another place following a lead that says there are more ghost activities up north.
But those changes aren't the only ones noticeable. Dannys classmates and teachers can vouch that Danny has changed. Most say he was always quite , and others say he looked down right depressed. Danny didn't do much in classes not that he paid attention before. Its just this time it seems that its not out of being sleepy or anxious about another ghost attacking the school instead Danny looks like he coundn't give less of a fu-k about anything.
He never smiles anymore not even when his favorite subjects (mechanics and space) are brought up. Not even a quirk of a smile. The school decided to contact his parents about Dannys new behaviors. That includes skipping classes, not handing in work, not doing the assigned work in class ect....
And its not like his parents havent noticed, they've had more time in their hands since they aren't using hours of the day/night going out hunting anymore. and they have witnessed their son become a shell of himself. They don't know what to do, and they don't want to worry Jazz about it because she's at collage and needs to focus on her studies.
So when the school contact them and told them that the behavior is the same in school they decided major changes needed to happen. Starting with a change of environment.
Maddie and Jack decided that Amity park was too big of a city with too many people. They could nearly see the stars at night because of the light pollution, hence they decided to move next door to Alicia, Maddie sister, home in SmallVille.
They decided it was the best choice, Danny would be surrounded by nature and he could do online classes that would go the pace he wanted. The move was immediate, the day off they packed everything sold the house and moved.
They only stopped to say goodbye to Danny's friends. A small bye and hug later they were on a 7 hour road trip to their new home.
When they got there the old resident handed them the keys of the home and told them to ignore the their neighbors 'The Kents' as they often made a lot of noice and had group gatherings every month.
The one thing Jack and Maddie forgot to double check was if the house was an actual house or a farm house. Sounds similar, but completely different as they now had 2 cows, 16 chickens, 1 rooster, and 3 pigs to take care off.
Danny was put on duty of taking care of the animals, such as feeding them on time and making sure they were healthy. Jack and Maddie made more of the heavy weight as to re building broken fences and fixing the questionable roof.
(The first thing Danny did when meeting all the animals was name them. After all this was about all the interaction he was going to do.)
Danny didn't have time to think about his lost obsession or his lack of emotions as he was now too busy making sure each animal was taken care off.
Marcy and linda (the cows) were danny's favorite they were very gentle and he felt that they could understand him when he spoke to them the stories of his vigilante past.
On the other hand The Chickens were a nightmare, Glinda was cool as she never chased him down. But Matilda and Bethany were a nightmarish duo spiteful too when he was seconds late to the finding time. Mark the rooster was chill he mainly acted as of he was part of the group that needed protection.
Marice, Betty, and Miss Piggy were the chillest of the bunch never gave Danny any trouble when feeding them and always made a point that they loved their new mudbath installation that Danny made for them on his first 2 days on the farm.
A month after arriving at the farm house Danny noticed that mark was missing. Danny looked everywhere around the property and saw him from afar, at the road. So Danny did the sensible thing anyone would do when spotting a run away pet, and that is call their name at the top of your lungs whilst running after them.
naturally Mark the escape artist run the opposite direction. By the time Danny caught up to him Danny didn't recognize the house he was infant off. So with Mark comfortably in his arms He swears he can see a smug look on marks face. Danny turned away from the house to start his walk back to the farm, but he was met with a kid his age looking at him with distrust.
"Ehhh look kid Im sorry to have crossed the properties border but Mark here" Danny made a point to acentuate Mark in his arms "Runaway from me this morning and I've been trying to catch him ever since, anyways I need to go feed the girls"
The kid starred at him for a second "OMG your from the new family in Mr.duncans farm right? in Aver ST.?" and wow the kid was like a ray of sunshine.
"Yea-" Danny could even finish his sentence before the kid cut him off by starting to talk a mile a minute about how he was so exited to meet people his age that lived near by and how farm chores were harder that normal house chores.
"Jon, give him time to respond. Im Damian this is Jon" Danny jumped he hadn't noticed the second kid at all
"Oh yeah... sorry about that what's your name?" The kid (Jon) slightly less enthusiasm, a bit embarrassed if his tone of voice was anything to get by.
"Danny, Im 15" he responded before he started walking away after all he did need to get in time to feed the chickens unless he wants to suffer their furry. Danny shuddered at the memory that popped up in his head.
"Wait!!! I just thought we could be friends cause we live close by u know" Jon said catching up with Dannys steps. Damian was following from behind.
"Sure kid I don't care" Dannys voice was monotone much like it had been for months.
"Hey were not kids for your information, Im 14 and Damians 16 soon to be 17, so if anything you night be the actual kid!" Danny chuckled slightly it was more similar to releasing air from his lips than a laugh.
Soon a quite and enjoyable science encompassed the group as they went to Dannys home.
"Hmm... you're hold on Mark is adequate and the your determination for getting home in time for feeding is acceptable" Damian spoke up after a while of the passive silence.
"yeah and what is It to you" Danny was slightly urked by Damians default setting speach. He told him as such.
Jon blanched before erupting into giggles that sent him to lay down on the grass uncontrollably laughing. Damians right eyebrow quirked up in what Danny assumed was amusement.
Thus a new friendship grew that day.
They often gathered at Dannys or Jons yard to have picnic in the weekends (as Damian and Jon has school in Metropolis on week days) and hangout with the animals. Danny found out that Damian was a vegetarian and that he had various animals at home. One time he brought his Great Dane Titus, who bodied Danny on sight to give him kisses.
Also Damian was Damian Wayne as in bruce Wayne, Batman sugar daddy. When he said that, Jons milk flew out of his nose and Damian choked on his cucumber wrap. Even Titus gave him a judgemental stare.
Slowly Danny started to smile more, laugh every so often. And things were feeling so much better after not being able to feel anything for a while.
Jazz, Aunt Alicia and especially Maddie and Jack felt so relived to see that Danny was slowly coming back to them.
Danny to this day backs the fact that Mark knew something and planned the whole thing.

The scene with q!Forever and q!Philza at Global spawn in Pugatory is something that will always kinda sit in the back of my head. Because it truly, truly solidifies the strength in their dynamic, and neither of them will probably realize it lol. Hello, I'm here to be insane about q!philever, so buckle up
Like everyone else, q!Phil was dealing with a lot in Purgatory. He began to lose trust in close friends. He wasn't sure he'd even be able to save his children. While trying to uphold his morality and not kill except in self-defense, he was very much walking a fine, jittery line. All while trying to keep his team organized and motivated. Aside from kind of losing his mind like the others, there was no clear indication that Phil's composure was dangling by a loose thread.
But then he's allowed a moment of peace to exchange information with another team. It's just him and Forever. No kills planned, nothing. Just two people allowed to talk about the absurd situation they've been thrown into. A moment to really take everything in.
During the conversation, Forever doesn't hold judgement toward Phil or anyone else due to the event, even when he comments on Philza's kill on Rivers. Even when Phil tries to justify his actions, Forever doesn't hold it against him. It's hard to say exactly how important this is to what happens next, but I feel like it means something here.
It's when q!Forever says that once they leave Global Spawn, that they become "enemies" again, this is when q!Philza breaks. And I think this moment has been glossed over by many (I want more fan art, dammit >:T) cause it doesn't feel big on the surface. It's not like cc!Philza genuinely sounds heartbroken, his cries sound... a little exaggerated/dramatic, you know? What he cries about isn't anything groundbreaking, it's what many of them feel ("I don't want to be here." "I don't want to kill my friends."), even though Phil fans can sense a deeper meaning here. And after Forever briefly consoles Philza ("Everything is going to be good. This is what we need to go through."), Phil, like a flick of a switch, is right back to his composed, level-headed self. It was like that moment never even happened.
But it did, and it drives me crazy that he did it in front of Forever. cc!Phil made that conscious choice to have his character lose composure, his character that he and his fans knows is an emotionally constipated motherfucker. And the reason it drives me nuts is because how the fuck did we get here?
I can imagine this scenario with lots of characters, and it never plays out like this (i.e. with Tubbo, he'd likely just keep it all in. Et cetra.). I don't see him letting himself be this vulnerable around most others. Hell, before this, I never would've imagined he'd do this in front of Forever, either.
But the more I think about it, it kinda makes sense.
Phil and Forever's relationship is a funny one. Early on, Phil wouldn't trust Forever with a toothpick. He'd never be emotionally open with him. Forever even held a bit of animosity toward Philza after Phil'a final rejection. But that rocky start is honestly a huge part of why it is as strong as it is now. Cause, well, the strength of any relationship comes from accepting all parts of a person. Flaws and all.
Some characters hold Philza up on a pedestal (i.e. q!Missa). They don't really see his flaws. They don't think about his ugly sides. They just see a pillar of a man who is always willing to help, who can do anything and everything, who keeps composed and lighthearted and level-headed in any scenario. q!Forever was kinda like this, at one point.
But Forever realizes that isn't the case eventually. Because Phil's not great at dealing with emotional situations, and Forever learns that the hard way. Phil's not good at talking about feelings, he can be blunt and a bit harsh, because he's a pragmatic sort of guy. But it takes a softer, gentle approach to reject someone, and Phil wasn't ready for that. So, in retaliation to the hurt Phil caused him, Forever had a conflicted relationship with him. It didn't last long, but I digress. This brief shift in their relationship was for the better. By not placing him on this pedestal anymore, Forever began to see Philza in a different light. One that didn't cast Brunim in its shadow.
With Philza, Phil saw Forever at, arguably, his worst in the beginning. Obsessive, threatening, clutching onto a pipe dream with no regard for Phil's feelings. But over time, Phil got to see the much more real sides of Forever. When Tallulah lost her first life, when Forever made NINHO. He saw a passionate and intelligent side to this guy who was obsessed with him, and he respected that person. And with this recognition, he offered his trust to Forever, such as giving one of his presidential votes to Forever.
Both of their perspectives for the other changed throughout the first few months, and I believe they gained some level of appreciation between them because of that. They share this newfound respect and trust. And that is the core to their new relationship. Consistently, Forever and Phil have given each other open and mutual respect and trust. Never is either of these things taken for granted, abused, or manipulated in any way.
When Forever is hooked on the happy pills, he subconsciously seeks out Philza's help, which Phil offers with ease. Before Forever goes to the Nether, Phil expresses his worry and wants to help. But he doesn't push, because he respects Forever's agency, and trusts that Forever is doing what he thinks is best. (also during this scene, when Forever gave him access to the warpstone in that secret part of his base, only Forever and Richas had access to it beforehand, which feels like a big moment according to his fans, so! :D). So when Forever returns to the Nether, while he doesn't believe Fit and Pierre when they say they tried to save him, he absolutely, 100% believes in Philza.
Because he knows Philza by now, and Philza knows Forever. Maybe not on equal levels, but still. After merely a few months, they've slowly begun to understand each other a bit more. So I guess it's only natural that they'd be more open around each other.
I'd even argue that this isn't the first time Philza lets down his walls around Forever. It just didn't happen when Forever was awake.
I wouldn't say that Phil talking to Forever while he was in a coma is the same level of vulnerability as the scene in Purgatory. Because Phil wasn't totally direct with his feelings, he sort of deflected (the story, banging the pots and pans, calling him an idiot, etc). Hell, even when he is expresses how he feels, he's not entirely direct: "We just really care about you. We wanna see you come back. You're making us worry." Like, of course everyone cares, but to say this as we when it's just the two of you obviously feels like a moment of vulnerability but not wanting to admit to it. Cause, hey, under different circumstances, he absolutely would've committed to visiting Forever in the hospital every day. Still, his very open worry did give off a sense that his walls were crumbling.
So with all of this, if Philza can meet with someone alone in practical hell, and that someone, a person he openly trusts and cares about, can look him in the eye and say "I don't judge you" on the things he's has done, maybe that allowed the floodgates to open for a bit. Maybe once Forever said they'd be enemies outside those doors, the situation hit Phil like a truck, and he just couldn't keep it in anymore. And maybe knowing it was just the two of them, Phil knew he could be a person around Forever, not a leader or a mentor or a force to be reckoned with. And Phil really needs someone on equal footing with him like this. He needs someone he can feel safe around. So for him to find this in Forever, of all people, even if it's just for this moment, is extremely important to me.
The way their relationship has progressed, perhaps it would've been simply a matter of time for Philza to be open with Forever. I dunno when Phil will be quite so open around Forever again, but I do say when with a fair enough of certainty (or I could be wrong and I'm simply talking straight outta my ass but who knows). Because to have this moment with Forever was intentional, even if it feels like a blink and you miss moment. It may have been under a minute, it may not feel important to other viewers. BUT to me, it genuinely says so much about their relationship, how far they have come, and where they are now.

Bowuigi fic where the entire reason Bowser spends all his time kidnapping Princess Peach to marry her is because the first time he kidnapped "Princess Peach" it was actually Luigi and they had an actual connection.
Like, the first time Bowser does his whole "kidnap the princess" scheme, he's intending it more as a show of force to take over another kingdom or negotiate terms of trade or something. (Not saying he's Right, but hey he was trying as a new monarch.)
So he shows up, and is like "Surrender to me the Princess, or I deploy my troops and destroy your toads!" Like an ultimatum or something.
So! In a panic, Luigi and Peach swap outfits and they go into disguise as each other. (This ultimatum gives them the time to pull this off.) Peach so she can escape and rally help to rescue Luigi, and Luigi because they don't know what Bowser intends and they don't want Peach to be in any legitimate danger. (They've literally never met Bowser before this, who knows what he's going to do!!!)
Except! Peach!Luigi and Bowser never get to determining terms of trade or anything, because they start talking and hit it off. Peach!Luigi meets Jr and Bowser sees how good "she" is with his youngest kid, and now suddenly Bowser IS thinking of marrying her and making her Jr's mama.
Bowser even says a cringe-corny pickup line to Peach!Luigi and while Kamek is facepalming in the background, "Peach" is blushing and laughing at it, enjoying their banter.
By the time Mario shows up to rescue "Peach" all "her" and Bowser have done so far is have dinner, say cringe flirts to each other, and play house with Jr. Literally nothing was accomplished except Bowser thinking he has a girlfriend now.
(Luigi might have forgotten that he probably shouldn't flirt with the dude kidnapping him, especially not dressed as someone else. Listen, he's under a lot of pressure and Bowser made him dinner and introduced him to his son, sue him.)
Luigi then assures Peach that Bowser wasn't doing anything mean or cruel to "her" and that he's actually pretty decent, all things considered (he did still kidnap her, after all.) So now they know that the next time Peach is captured (for real this time) they still, obviously, need to rescue her but it's not a critical life or death situation.
Except the next time Bowser shows up, he just tries to talk to Peach. But she won't even listen to him or give him the time of day! So! He kidnaps her, hoping that doing the same thing as last time will reignite their chemistry, but nothing he does works! She's not even that interested in talking to Jr this time around!!
Obviously Mario did something to make his Peach no longer like him! How dare he!
And so, the "kidnap the princess and marry her" schemes arise, because Bowser KNOWS somewhere in there Peach still likes him, he just has to remind her! If she spends enough time with him she'll come around!
More drama is that sometimes Bowser will kidnap Peach!Luigi again and they hit it off fine, so Bowser KNOWS his plans are working!! Peach does actually like him, he's just not trying hard enough.
Luigi doesn't even think HE'S the cause of all this Bowser drama because, like, of COURSE Bowser would want the princess? She's a princess? He doesn't realize that the ONLY reason Bowser wants the princess is because of him. (Luigi in no way thinks he's special enough to have caused all this. This could be in part because he doesn't know that "marry the princess" was never even Bowser's original scheme.)
Maybe one time during a kidnapping Bowser will lament to the real Peach about what changed since the first time he kidnapped her? They had such a connection! And Peach has to reveal to Luigi after the fact that, hey, I think I'm getting kidnapped because Bowser has a crush on you? What did you SAY to him???
Who knows what turn of events will eventually reveal the truth on who he actually connected with, or how he handles it.

I am absolutely positively irreconcilably LOSING MY MIND over what this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(also... omg they're so cute here in their teeny tiny car)
is doing thematically when put up against:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the WEIGHT. the WEIGHT added to all of that when you realize that Lupin CHOSE to be Lupin the Third, and the first thing he chose as Lupin the Third was Jigen (Jigen's HEART, something a teen/tween Jigen seems ready to already half-believe doesn't even exist anymore fhsdfjka). recognizing something fundamental of himself in Jigen was what made him choose to be Lupin as we've known him all this time -- that one moment of connection, of true resonance, of 'whatever souls are made of, yours and mine are the same (utterly unhinged)'... after all his dad and grandpa each did to try to shape him in their image, that one moment of honesty from Jigen was what made him decide to be himself. and keep choosing that. for the rest of his life. he said 'fuck it, it IS a story, it's MY story, and I want my story to be with you if you want to come along for the ride'.
(and then from Jigen's side -- he's been pulling back from Lupin again and again in Zero under the reasoning that he's a bad influence, that he'll tarnish his life eventually because he's got something indelibly stained and broken about him already that he doesn't want to get all over Lupin as well, you sort of get the feeling that admitting how fighting a worthy opponent gives him a rush like nothing else was half meant as something to push Lupin away for good... and then to see Lupin just come to life because of it instead!! Lupin walks right past his gun and his skills and puts his hand on his chest and says 'no, this is the part that matters, this is what I want, the rest is just a fancy trinket', after pretty much every person we've seen Jigen interacting with thus far has only been interested in what he can do for them, as if he were nothing more than the gun. I mean. what was he supposed to do, not fall desperately and fathomlessly in love with this dude for the rest of his life??? unrealistic honestly he had no choice at that point. and despite all his fears Jigen goes on to be the one most stable and steady presence in Lupin's life, protective rather than corruptive. what a fucking relief that must be honestly, that not only did he not hurt Lupin by allowing himself to be closer to him, he helped him discover something wonderful -- with all his sharp edges he brought him joy instead of blood, and Lupin takes him along on that joy right through their lives, all the way up, through Part 5 and beyond. what the fuck. help. there aren't enough italics in the world to express what I feel here)
I thought I couldn't love this part 5 scene more than I already did but oh my god they've retroactively put in place the setup it's the payoff for and now I'm on my knees

Allison Hargreeves is being unfairly vilified?
Allison Hargreeves as in 'SA'd Luther' Allison Hargreeves? Allison Hargreeves as in 'confirmed Viktor's worst ongoing fears and anxieties just because Viktor was grieving his friend/stepson and it annoyed her' Allison Hargreeves? Allison Hargreeves 'contributed to the deaths of two of her siblings' Allison Hargreeves? Allison Hargreeves 'nothing anyone else has lost over the course of this nightmare matters as much as what I lost so I'm gonna fuck everything up potentially irreparably' Allison Hargreeves?
That Allison Hargreeves? I mean don't get me wrong I like her but she's very much a villain right now. She's an interesting villain, a compelling villain, a better villain than Reggie since we actually know wtf her problem is and we wish things hadn't turned out this way. But a villain all the same.
i don't think allison is a villain. at best, i'd say she's an antihero. at worst, she was a catalyst for viktor's arc in season three.
i would like to start by saying that i'm not defending allison's actions. i think what she did was wrong. however, i don't think she deserves all the hate that she's gotten. she's a character that is very morally gray, and people continue to paint her in solely black or white.
what i try to convey in this... very long post is that there's a reason for what allison does in season three. the question of if she’s a villain or not can be debated, but i believe that the reasons for her actions don’t make her a villain.
a big reason why the umbrella academy is such an incredible show is that all the umbrellas are flawed and nuanced, and despite it all they love. all of the umbrellas have their faults, and allison is no different.
in season three allison has lost all hope. she thinks she will never see her child again, her husband is dead, the world is ending, and to her it seems like her siblings don't give a shit. amidst all the chaos and the whirlwind of her life, she needs something that she's used to. something she knows how to navigate.
so she turns to luther. and she gets the comfort she's looking for but it's not right.
allison and luther's relationship is something that has been a topic of many debates in this fandom. i don't really want to get into it right now, but they've always been a person of comfort to each other. allison wants to feel loved and cared for, and she thinks she can get that comfort from luther.
allison is naturally selfish. she's used to getting what she wants. she's used to having the world at her fingertips. and yet almost everything she's held close to her heart has been ripped away from her. and she's never getting it back.
in season three she falls back onto her old habits, rumoring people left and right with no consideration for others. it makes sense because it's the only way she knows how to get what she wants.
and then she rumors luther. she doesn't want to lose him either, and she thinks that he's choosing sloane over her (which is true, but she thinks he's leaving forever. she thinks she'll lose him too). but she almost instantly realizes what she's done, almost instantly tries to take it away.
as for her relationship with viktor, that's another can of worms. in season one, allison is the only one really trying to mend that relationship with viktor. but it's a rocky road. allison snaps at viktor, viktor snaps at allison. these two have had tension from the very start. eventually, that bond had to snap.
at the start of season three, viktor is the only one that really tries to help allison. he stands up for her, and comforts her after she returns from la. but by episode three allison is so consumed by her grief that she's already clashing with viktor.
and when harlan makes an appearance, it just gets worse. harlan is like a son to viktor. someone viktor can care for. and when viktor turns that care and attention away from allison and instead towards harlan, it hurts. why is viktor allowed to have his child when allison will never get to see claire again?
in season three luther tells viktor that allison has “always been good to you (viktor)”. but there comes a point where your love and gratitude towards someone can morph into bitterness and hate.
the reason i say allison is a catalyst for viktor in season three is because the writers needed someone to contest his ideas. someone that will create a struggle for viktor that he will ultimately come out of with a new lesson learned. and allison is a great contender for that position. the show needs conflict in order to have an engaging story at all, and tense relationships between the siblings can be seen throughout all three seasons. (luther and diego in season one, ben and klaus in season two)
as for the deaths of her siblings, do you really think she wanted that to happen? she doesn’t want to lose any more people, that’s the main driver of her character shift in this season.
allison turns towards reginald because she sees it as the only option left. klaus does the same thing, so why is it any different when allison does it? she didn’t know her siblings would die in the process.
allison isn’t even the only sibling that has contributed to a sibling’s (almost) death. viktor slashes her throat in season one, ben sacrifices himself to save the world, and luther willingly walks into the room to talk to reginald. how is that allison’s fault?
i think this is also why five gives his talk to viktor, not allison. he understands what allison is going through on some level, understands the despair of losing those who are close to you. understands being willing to do anything to get them back. even though he quite loudly disagrees with allison making a deal with reginald, it's because he knows she's getting tricked. reginald never had their best interests at heart.
they’ve all lost people, and they all react to that loss in different ways. in season 1, when diego finds that patch was killed, he instantly wants to go for revenge. he plans on going after hazel and cha cha but five inevitably talks him out of it.
allison doesn’t have that influence. in fact, diego suggests to instead let that grief out through anger. i don’t think it was a very good solution in the end.
and despite all that, she wants to redeem herself. she tries to tell viktor the truth, she admits that she made the plan for all of them. she kills reginald and she’s the one that pushes the button at the end of season three. there’s so much left that we don’t know. did allison know what would happen when she pressed the button? did she know what reginald’s real plan was?
but in the end, allison is the reality of a person who has lost those who are closest to her. it’s probably the best job the writers have done while showing trauma and grief. i don’t think allison is a villain, and i think that accusing her of solely caring about herself is unfair.

Eyeless Jack x angel!reader
Prize request 1/5 for @blackflask ! I hope you enjoy!!
Notes: Reader is GN! More of a "reader and jack meet and slowly grow closer" rather than "heres how they romance" post! I've never watched trolls but the dynamic in my head for reader and Jack here reminds me of poppy and branch
CW: None
Tumblr media
Well it all started when you LOUDLY and quite ungracefully smashed through the poor mans roof and slammed into the ground
To save yourself from the embarrassment, you try to scramble out through the front door only to find it had already been locked for the night; you... were caught, quickly..
For one reason or another you're not immediately snuffed out due to trespassing onto his property; maybe it was because your wings were sprawled out on display, clearly showing that you weren't.. well, human
I like to imagine it's because he already has to deal with the fact he needs to take other human lives to survive, taking yours when he gets no sustenance or resource out of it just feels... worse
Jacks original plan was to patch you up and then have you leave immediately. The only real reason you werent instantly kicked out was due to your injuries, you couldnt really.. go anywhere
Jack is quiet, so hes not going to speak much when hes bandaging you- a problem if you happen to be a chatty person, you'll only really be met with short responses
He doesnt answer any questions you ask about him, he doesn't even give you his name on that first night
His original plan doesnt end up working, though, because you keep coming right back with things. Food, gifts, things like that. When he keeps rejecting them you turn to just.. following him around when he leaves his cabin, you insist that you want to pay him back
He tells you that you don't need to
And you dont take that as a cue to leave
Initially he wants his peace back but over time he starts to get used to your company
You guys start talking when he goes out to make sure the traps he set around are still.. functional and to see if they've caught something yet
You eventually learn his name, and he learns yours. You mostly talk about yourself, and your past and where you came from
It would take a while longer for Jack to tell you about himself, but he does open up to general conversation before that!
Hs finds you sitting on his porch waiting for him and he finally invites you inside.. now that you're not running off of pain and adrenaline you can see how run down the cabin was on the inside
You offer to help fix things, and he doesn't stop you after you keep insisting
And you add your personal touch, and unofficially you move in with him.. and suddenly things aren't so bad for either of you!
He doesnt even realize it when he starts seeking you out first, just to be around you.. its.. sweet

Best Friends
Tumblr media
Pairing: Anthony Lockwood x Reader
Warnings: Near death experiences
Notes: The trials and tribulations of trying to write the speech patterns of British people. British people in my audience, feel free to bully me for any mistakes I’ve made :)
Summary: Lockwood makes the terrible mistake of falling in love with his best friend, not telling them, and then getting into an argument with them right before they get almost fatally injured in a mission
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The atmosphere in 35 Portland row was chilly. Not because of any ghostly reasons, just because of the glares that (Y/N) and Lockwood were sending to each other across the sitting room. Lucy had just gotten home from grabbing a few groceries, about to go into the room until George grabbed her arm.
"They've been sniping at each other since they got back from their case." He whispered to the girl. "It'll be better if we just give them some space."
This information both surprised Lucy and didn't. (Y/N) and Lockwood were good friends, probably best friends if she was being honest. But the last few weeks, they'd been spending less time together and throwing little comments at each other. Lucy had no idea what had caused it, but she wasn't shocked that it had escalated into a row.
"Come on Lockwood, for once can you actually listen to what I say!?" (Y/N)'s voice carried from the sitting room into the kitchen where Lucy and George were sitting (or hiding). "I realize that you think you're too good to take anything anyone says to heart, but you could at least make a damn effort!"
"And now they're yelling." George grumbled. "Wonderful."
"What happened? They were fine last night." Lucy whispered to him. In fact, (Y/N) and Lockwood were doing better than they had in a few weeks. They had been planning out the strategy for a case over dinner when Lucy walked into the kitchen. Heads nearly pressed together as they poured over a map. (Y/N) was laughing and Lockwood was grinning.
Lucy almost left the room, the way that the two were looking at each other felt too intimate to interrupt.
But now they were fighting.
"Lockwood was being reckless during their mission. (Y/N) thinks he could have been killed."
That made sense to Lucy.
"If you're not going to let us help you, then I don't see why you even want a team in the first place!"
"Come on (Y/N), I had it handled. If I needed help, you would have been free to jump in!"
"If you needed help?! Oh don't make me laugh Anthony Lockwood. If you keep trying to be a dickhead and throw yourself into trouble for the thrill of it, eventually I'm going to give up trying to protect you for yourself."
Lucy and George heard the door slam open, and a single pair of footsteps stomp towards the kitchen.
(Y/N) stood in the doorway
"You get everything at the shop?" They asked Lucy, pretending that the argument with Lockwood never happened. Putting on the mask of a relaxed smile.
Lucy nodded
"More biscuits?"
She nodded again.
"Wonderful. Love you, Luce." (Y/N) strode over to the bags, taking the biscuits out and eating one. "God, I'm starving." They said after swallowing.
"You only get one at a time." George told them, liking the agency's little routine.
"Yes yes, I know, love." They chuckled at the boy, seeming as if Lockwood wasn't even on their mind.
That should have reassured Lucy and George, but they knew that the fighting wasn't solved. Just ignored.
***
Their next case was the next night, with all four of them going along this time.
"Alright. George and Lucy, you take the basement, (Y/N) and I will take the top floor and -"
"No." (Y/N) interrupted with a cold smile. "I'm going with George, you can take Lucy."
Lockwood looked like he hated that idea. "(Y/N)..."
"Hurry up." They snapped at him. "We don't have all day."
They walked off, with George nervously following them.
Lockwood made an irritated noise, gesturing for Lucy to follow him. He was much more tense than he was when they entered the room. Quiet, not making any joking comments like he normally did.
"You and (Y/N) need to fix whatever is going on between the two of you." Lucy told him eventually.
He scoffed. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"They're gonna leave if you don't."
That made him stop. If there was one thing that Lucy knew, it was that the thought of Lockwood's friends leaving him terrified him. She couldn't imagine the extent to which (Y/N) leaving would torment him. He was practically attached to his friend like Velcro. Even when they were fighting, they were never far apart.
"I just..." Lockwood was cut off by the sound of yelling.
"Lockwood! Lucy! Anthony!" (Y/N)'s voice was unmistakable, shrill with worry. The sound was followed by a crash and the sound of George yelling "(Y/N)!"
Lockwood didn't hesitate even for a moment, a wide eyed look of terror as he dashed towards to source of the chaos. (Y/N) only called him Anthony in the most serious of situations.
"(Y/N)! (Y/N)!" He yelled, jumping several stairs.
Lucy followed right on his heel. "George! (Y/N)!"
The basement was a mess, and their teammates even more so. (Y/N) was collapsed against a wall, bleeding from the side of their head and a dent in the wall behind them. George was swinging his rapier in between him and the ghost, keeping it away from him and (Y/N)
The three conscious members of the team managed to eliminate the ghost, with Lockwood functioning on pure terror and adrenaline. He kept holding himself back from glancing at his dearest friend, feeling like Orpheus leading Euridice's from the underworld. If he looked, (Y/N) would surely disappear.
**
(Y/N) woke up in their own bed with a torturous headache, groaning in pain as they pulled the covers off themselves. Their head was bandaged and they felt like a proper wreck.
As soon as they entered the kitchen, they were ambushed by a young brunette.
"(Y/N)!" Lucy hugged them tightly. "I'm so glad you're alright. We were worried sick, especially Lockwood."
Patting their friend on the back, they couldn't hide a warm smile. "I'm all good. Lockwood was worried about little old me, though?"
"He's barely slept." George, who had just entered the room, told them. "You should go find him. Let him know you're alive."
They nodded, going in search of their friend.
Lockwood was found in the library, doing the same as Lucy and pulling (Y/N) into a tight hug as soon as he noticed them. "I thought... I thought you were going to die." His voice was muffled as he pressed his face into (Y/N)'s shoulder. "I thought you were going to leave me."
"No, no." (Y/N) wrapped their arms around him, holding him close to them. "Never."
When he finally let go of them, his eyes were glazed. "You were lying on the ground, bleeding out and I... the last thing we did was argue. And I love you too much to...
"We argued because we care." (Y/N) told him with a soft smile. "Cause like you said, you love me and I love you."
"It's not just that. I've been a prick to you since... since Daniel."
It took a moment for (Y/N) to figure out who he was talking about. "Wait.. are you talking about that Fitte's agent?"
"You went on a date with him."
"Yeah, one date." (Y/N) was so confused why Lockwood was bringing that boy up. They hadn't thought of him in weeks. "He ended up not being who I wanted." The person (Y/N) wanted kept throwing himself into stupidly dangerous situations for his own ego. "Anyways, why the hell does this matter?"
"Cause I wanted it to be me!" The words burst out of his mouth like they hurt him. "I meant it when I said I loved you. But I didn't mean it as friends."
"You mean..." (Y/N) couldn't believe what Lockwood was saying. Ever since they had met him they'd been infatuated by him. Could he truly even possibly feel the same?"
Lockwood misinterpreted their shock for disinterest. "I don't mean that I don't want to be your friend anymore" He said, trying to patch up what he had said. "Because being your friend is the best thing that's ever happened to me, but..."
"Shut up." (Y/N) said, grabbing his tie and pulling him in for a kiss.
Anthony Lockwood would always be (Y/N)'s best friend. And now he was their greatest love.

stormlight au number 35 (help me i'm lost in the sauce)
Jasnah, Dalinar, and Renarin (surviving Kholin Radiants) travel from End of World all the way to right after Gavilar's death.
Vengeance pact still happens, but plays out very differently. We don't need absolutely every man in the kingdom to join the army, alright Elhokar? And we're making sure Dalinar is there to accept their surrender, actually win in reasonable time frame and 'conquer' them (no Alethi want to live out there anyway, and as long as they send gemhearts in tribute we won't enslave them. actually elhokar, your sister wanted to talk to you about slavery—).
Honestly, just an excuse for:
A) Adolin to have a breakdown that his entire family has been replaced by voidbringers, before eventually accepting with relief that they're still his family, they've just become voidbringers, but its ok because he loves them and will protect their increasingly heretical actions with his life. Hugs his glowing red and green eyed little brother a lot.
Adolin: do I — should I also learn to read?
Jasnah: do you want to?
Adolin: not really, no.
Renarin: to be honest, it's probably for the best if you just focus on being, well, a good Vorin Alethi. One of us probably should be, if we don't have a desolation as a distraction.
Adolin: ok! sure! I can do that. Also thought id mention that if possible, I would personally appreciate *not* having a desolation.
Jasnah: it may prove necessary.
Adolin: I know, i know. Just thought I'd put my feelings out there.
Dalinar: and we'll need you to produce Kholin heirs. Neither Renarin or Jasnah are likely to, and I'm not remarrying a younger woman.
Adolin: Sounds good!
B) Kholin family to have way too strong a reaction to this random darkeyed surgeon in training when they visit Kharbranth, scaring the absolute shit out of said darkeyed surgeon. Adolin walks into a wall when he sees Kaladin. He doesn't even know about the Radiant thing, it's just that
C) Kaladin dresses really hot in this au. Ok. I lied. this is actually the main reason for this au. It — there's a whole chain of events. I – don't look at me like that. The character development works, alright?
A lot of it boils down to distracting people from groping the female medical trainees.
He realizes that breathing in a certain way, while it makes you focus better and move faster, it also makes you more...present somehow? people pay attention to you, for better or worse. Some of the ladies teach him that there are different ways to channel people's focus on you, if they're looking anyway.
And apparently, for the first few years Kharbranth medical students, light and dark eyed alike, have basically no protections from wealthy patients or Lighteyed chief's of staff who are a bit too interested in teaching you to use your safehand, and its not like Kaladin can challenge them to a duel - he doesnt know how to fight, and it would get him and the person hes trying to protect kicked out of the program. So much for honorable lighteyes being real.
But I mean. If wearing some eyeliner, and a gemstone in your hair, if taking your right glove off first after an exam, conspicuously leaving the left on while talking, if bending over to pick his clipboard up in a certain way... if it gets people to not focus on his friends...
...one could probably get pretty angsty with this concept, ngl.
The Stormlight understanding and oaths come in time. There might also be some Radiant Disguise Superhero hijinks, havent fully decided but it's not really a major stretch from canon to say that Kharbranth struggles with violent crime. Also Kaladin gets to learn about institutional racism in school. It's great. I have a lot of Kaladin thoughts but so does everyone in this au so its ok.
Kholins visit Kharbranth:
Jasnah: you've been moping for days. Is your new fixation of the week not responding to your advances?
Adolin: I don't want to talk about it
Dalinar: son, you've clearly been in a mood—
Adolin: look, I'm not — the individual is not suitable for my station, alright? I'm not courting someone I could never actually marry, because that would be stupid.
Jasnah: while it would complicate matters, you know your brother and I have plans to alter the alethi codes around eye color, considering they're clearly a crude derivative of radiant mythologization
Dalinar: I thought we agreed that was low on the priority list
Jasnah: You said that uncle, Renarin most certainly did not agree, and his arguments are sound
Adolin: He's just some surgeon, alright! He's not just darkeyed, he's a darkeyed man. I said I'll get over it! I always do.
Dalinar: ah.
Jasnah: ...did you say surgeon?
Adolin: Yes? Why?
Dalinar: why does it —
Jasnah: how did you meet?
Adolin: He was — he was with this group of women at a winebar, and he was dressed like – but it turned out he just goes to protect them from - and it was so — why are you asking me about this?
Dalinar: Oh! A darkeyed surgeon. Protecting, you say? He sounds...honorable.
Jasnah: Very honorable.
Adolin: He is! He volunteers at this house for injured soldiers, and you wouldn't believe he'd never been to war, I mean his spear Katas — he's – it's like he was born for it —
Dalinar: He sounds like a fine young man. Perhaps you should bring him to meet us.
Adolin: I — while I appreciate that father, I really do, I thought I was the one who was supposed to well. I mean my role in...all of this is to produce heirs and look proper, right?
Jasnah: Hm. when you put it it that way...
Dalinar: I mean, Navani and I might be able to...
Jasnah: Don't be ridiculous. I'm perfectly capable of producing a child, should it prove absolutely necessary,
Adolin: Jasnah?
Jasnah: Provided the man you're courting is of worthy quality.
Adolin: We're not — I haven't been courting! I didn't think it was an option! I don't even know if he's interested! From what I can tell he has people throwing themselves at his feet all the time!
Jasnah: An abnormally honorable darkeyed surgeon, natural warrior, magnetically charismatic personality...yes that might make a worthwhile addition to the family.
Dalinar: I can write to Elhokar at once, recommend that he and Aseuden —
Jasnah: Uncle we've been over this — this is exactly the sort of thing that led to me insisting you come with me on this trip! If we cripple his ability to lead—
Adolin: Are we — are we moving into the discussing the future part of the evening, because I can go guard the door—
Dalinar: wait, when you say produce a child, you don't mean through soulcasting, right?
Jasnah: I don't see why I should answer that question.
Adolin: Yeah, i'm just going to go guard the door now

Another mixed concept and scene snippet post from twitter. This one I actually hammered out a quick ending to!
Nie Huaisang is the insecure one of the relationship for a change.
Even though they’ve been together from the end of lectures all the way through the Sunshot Campaign, even though Jiang Cheng always turns them down, even though Jiang Cheng chased off the matchmakers, there's always someone drawn in by Jiang Cheng’s pretty face or the allure of the Jiang-furen.
And, eventually, Jiang Cheng will have to find himself a wife.
An actual wife.
Nie Huaisang can handle dealing with merchants and accounts and stuff like that, he’d even force himself to do it for the rest of his life if he has to, but there's so much more that would be expected of a wife and even if he were to learn it all, the etiquette and everything, he's still not a woman. He can’t give Jiang Cheng heirs of his own bloodline, and he knows how important that is.
So even though he does his best to help out with rebuilding the Pier, Nie Huaisang makes himself scarce if there's even a hint of flirting because if this is going to be the one that Jiang Cheng reciprocates, he doesn't want to be there to see it.
He even stays through the fallout and the first siege, only for a new problem to pop up as the dust settles.
On top of everything else, Jin Ling can’t stand him. Even at that age where babies are upset about everything, it's clear Nie Huaisang is his least favorite adult, even though Nie Huaisang is doing his best, and is actually doing things correctly 95% of the time.
It's absolutely crushing. It's worse than the flirting, worse than the proposal letters, because he knows more than anything, Jiang Cheng needs a partner who can do right by his nephew.
As Jin Ling howls angrily in his arms, only to immediately quiet as soon as someone else takes him, Nie Huaisang finally starts contemplating throwing in the towel and letting Jiang Cheng find someone who actually deserves to be by his side.
And eventually… he does give up and break things off.
Not wanting to leave Jiang Cheng feeling like he's in the wrong, he explains everything before he quietly goes back to Qinghe.
Unbeknownst to him, Jiang Cheng takes this as a challenge.
Nie Huaisang left because people wanted him to marry better? Fine! He finally accepts the matchmakers' attempts to set him up, and then purposely bombs the dates. When rumors start getting out, he pays the matchmakers to support them.
He can't do anything about the fact that Jin Ling doesn't like Nie Huaisang, and that guts him, because his nephew comes first. But Jin Ling's a baby, surely his opinion will change as he grows?
Right?
He can make this work. He will make this work.
It's been a year and a half since he and Nie Huaisang have seen each other in person, but they've been tentatively exchanging letters.
When Jiang Cheng arrives at the conference in Qinghe, he takes the first day to gather his nerves. On the second day, he thinks he's ready.
And then the screaming panic erupts in the courtyard.
---
From there, it goes as canon did. Nie Huaisang grows distant as he sinks into grief and revenge and Jiang Cheng throws himself into running the sect and raising Jin Ling.
(Neither of them ever tells Jin Ling about their history together, so he grows up having never known they were even an item, just that Nie Huaisang is that weird annoying guy who's always pestering shushu. Ironic that he ends up remaining completely disdainful of Nie Huaisang his whole childhood, but for totally different reasons.)
It's painful and bewildering to see the way Nie Huaisang acts around Lan Xichen and Jin Guangyao, because Nie Huaisang wasn't that clingy with him even when they were lovers.
(Once the final confrontation at the temple concludes, Jiang Cheng realizes that Nie Huaisang might have been shielding him from All Of That, but he's still kind of hurt and confused.)
Something forces them to talk: Jin Ling eventually does find out about their backstory.
Not the actual backstory, of course, but during a 'friendly' night hunt, Wei Wuxian offhandedly muses about the fact that Jiang Cheng and Nie Huaisang aren't together anymore.
Wait, when were they ever together????
"Oh, it ended before you were even old enough to remember?" Wei Wuxian asks. "Though I guess that's not surprising, since you were only three when Chifeng-zun died."
"It was probably because even they couldn't stand each other for long," Lan Jingyi says, earning a swat from Ouyang Zizhen.
But Wei Wuxian just grins and says "Yeah, that's probable, too," or something like that. Jin Ling doesn't really hear it clearly because he's already mad and stewing in his own thoughts.
His jiujiu-! With that guy-!
And he's going to get to the bottom of this. Since his jiujiu never said anything about Nie-zongzhu all those years, good or bad, he knows he won't get any information that way, and even though he grew up seeing Nie-zongzhu as a silly harmless annoyance, recent discussions mean he doesn't feel comfortable going to the Unclean Realms either.
Time to start asking the Jiang sect’s second-in-command some questions.
---
Jin Ling doesn’t get much, but he gets enough that he knows he’s going to have to press Nie-zongzhu for the full story.
So he sucks up his nerve and heads to the Unclean Realms.
He’s received with little fanfare, but when Nie Huaisang offers tea, he can tell by the smell that it’s his jiujiu’s favorite, and he can’t help but wonder which of them loved it first.
It throws him off guard enough that rather than the snippy confrontation he had been planning on the way over, the first question out of his mouth is “Do you regret any of it?”
Nie Huaisang tilts his head, expression uncomfortably probing. Jin Ling braces himself for the usual deflections and protestations of ignorance, but whatever Nie Huaisang sees makes him simply sigh instead. “Your shenshen. I never predicted she would react the way she did. I thought she would go home to her parents.”
“What about the cu- Mo Xuanyu? Did you make him do it?”
“No. It was his idea to begin with, actually. But there was a possibility, however small, that I could have stopped him, and I never tried.”
Jin Ling is… not sure exactly how he feels about the answers he’s been given. But he does believe them. So he closes his eyes, takes a deep breath, lets it out… and without any of the irritation he’d been carrying with him on the way, asks the question that has really sparked this visit.
“Did you break up with jiujiu because of me?”
Nie Huaisang chokes on his tea. “Where did you hear that from?” he wheezes after getting the coughing under control.
“Not any one person in particular. I heard you’d been together from shijiu, and started putting the pieces together after talking to some others,” Jin Ling only partially lies, not wanting to put his jiujiu’s second in any possible line of fire. “Did you?”
Nie Huaisang rubs between his eyes, and it looks like he won’t answer at first. “It wasn’t your fault,” he finally says. “There were over a dozen different issues that probably would have sunk us eventually. We’d been keeping the relationship quiet during the rebuilding, so there were potential wives being tossed in his path constantly, none of which I could measure up to.”
“He would have picked you anyway,” Jin Ling says, eyes narrowed. “So tell me the real reason.”
“I did. Choosing me would have only put more stress on him, especially since-”
“Since what?”
“Since nothing.”
“So it did have something to do with me.”
“Jin-zongzhu-”
“Tell me,” Jin Ling insists, practically leaning over the table.
Nie Huaisang scrubs his face with his hands. “Fine. Fine. I hated seeing how miserable he was having to split time between us because you screamed yourself blue if someone tried to hand you to me. I wasn’t going to make him choose, and I wasn’t going to make him feel guilty when he inevitably chose you. It was better for both of you to just take myself out of the running.”
Jin Ling sits back down and processes this, remembering all the times he’d heard his jiujiu absolutely shut down a dinner date with anyone. How he always changed the subject when Jin Ling brought up the question of why he hadn't married yet.
He must have been missing Nie Huaisang the whole time, and it’s clear just from watching Nie Huaisang during this discussion that he’d been hurting too. And yet they’d never breathed a word about it around him because they didn’t want him thinking he’d ruined things for them.
“Okay,” he says finally. “I’m summoning jiujiu here and we’re discussing this in full.”
“What?”
Things finally seem to be going well. With Jin Ling's blessing, Jiang Cheng and Nie Huaisang are tentatively mending the bond between them.
And then a night hunt goes horribly wrong, with Jiang Cheng taking a blow that would have killed his nephew and once-shixiong. Much to everyone's surprise, including his own, he ascends.
As a god of devotion.
He laughs until he realizes the other gods are serious, and then he's bewildered and angry because why him?
Worst of all, he can't leave the heavens without permission for literal years because he has to 'settle in' first, which just seems like a lot of bureaucratic bullshit to him.
Of course he goes to Jin Ling first, who's now fully-grown and well-established, but still greets him with tears and a fierce hug like a kid. After they've spent almost the whole day catching up, Jin Ling suddenly gets very quiet and serious. "You might want to go see Huaisang next. Before it's too late."
Jiang Cheng stiffens. "I was already planning on it, but what the hell do you mean 'too late'?"
"He's... really not been doing well since you ascended. I think the only things still keeping him alive at this point are his promise to his brother and the fact that the disciples insist on taking care of him even though he abdicated."
Jiang Cheng feels sick, because he knows.
He knows why.
He thanks Jin Ling and, in a blink, he's at the Unclean Realms. Ignoring the stunned reactions, he turns to the man he recognizes as having been the head disciple the last time he visited and is likely the sect leader now. "Where is he?"
He's guided to a set of rooms deep in the side of the mountain, where the only light is from torches and lanterns and candles. When he enters the door indicated for him, the sight inside makes his stomach drop.
Nie Huaisang is sleeping on a bed of furs and soft pillows, an array Jiang Cheng can't identify stitched over the chest of carefully arranged robes. Despite the fact that his face is still smooth and unlined, there are silver streaks among the braids in his hair. He's far too thin and just... looks ill.
Kneeling beside the low bed, Jiang Cheng reaches out to touch his cheek, his hair, something, but his presence rouses his former lover before he can make contact.
Nie Huaisang blinks at him, then smiles, but his gaze isn't focusing right. "Ah, Cheng-er, look at you," he murmurs, barely audible. "Always knew you were too good for a monster like me."
Nie Huaisang only lives long enough to complete the purification ritual.
Jiang Cheng decides to remain on earth, waiting. He passes the time by occasionally checking in with the sect, or with Jin Ling, or even with Wei Wuxian, the shock of his ascension having forced them to have some very weighty conversations.
It takes another fifty years, but eventually he crosses paths with a young man who has familiar green eyes and an even more familiar infectious laugh.

Skeleton ends up lost deep in the forest alone for a week. They've got rope, a pocket knife, and a bag, their cell phone died and has no connection. Who's stsrving to death who's surviving pretty well off the forest and who's crying on the forest floor waiting for rescue?
Main boys
Undertale Sans - He teleports home, duh. It's too much work to find his way back home and he doesn't have time for this. He teleports back to his bed and sleeps there for twenty hours straight to recover from the scare (he didn't really get scared).
Undertale Papyrus - He's not panicking. He used to live in the woods with Sans when he was a kid, so he knows what to do. He climbs to a big tree to have a high point of view above the trees and quickly finds the exit by looking around. After that, he walks in that direction until he gets out of here. He's a clever boy.
Underswap Sans - He's very frustrated he can't find his way out. He's a police officer, he goes into the woods all the time! How can he not find his way around? As he's enraging, he starts to stomp innocent rocks and punch trees. One tree falls on his head to calm him down, knocking him out. He wakes up a few minutes later and realizes the exit is right behind him. He was not looking the right way all this time...
Underswap Papyrus - He's completely freaking out, running in circles to find a way out. He swears he saw that tree a hundred times already but he keeps coming back to it. Eventually he's hyperventilating so much he has to sit down as he starts to see black spots dancing in front of his eye sockets. He then breaks down completely crying, screaming for help. Someone hears him eventually and comes to his rescue. He's never going in the woods alone ever again.
Underfell Sans - He's actually good at tracking his own steps and simply follows the path he came from. He is kinda relieved when he gets out of here and finally release a breath he was holding since he realizes he got lost. Thanks the Underground, for once. Maybe he learned a thing or two down there after all.
Underfell Papyrus - He had the wonderful idea to go hiking with Undyne. The real issue is not the forest, it's the both of them who can't communicate for more than two minutes without insulting the other. They're both very stubborn and refuse to follow the other advice. None of them realize they're actually going deeper in the forest instead of going toward the exit. Eventually, it arrives to a point where they have to agree they're really lost and accept to wait for help to come. Which means helping the other to survive for two days in a small camp when they really disagree on the smallest things. They're both glad to get out of here and decide to take a break from seeing the other for a month lol. Except they saw each other immediately the next day. But they're not friends or anything, what do you mean?
Horrortale Sans - Willow taught him to wait for him when he's lost. So after a few hours, Oak sits on the floor and decides to wait for Willow. He didn't expect to wait for three days though, but that's fine, he knows how to hunt small animals. Willow is just relieved when he finally finds him, even though it's not too worrying. Oak often disappears for a few days in the woods for no reason sometimes.
Horrortale Papyrus - He keeps his calm and starts to build a little camp. After two days though, his back is hurting like hell as it's really not good for him to sleep on the floor. He's mad because he knows old Papyrus would have no problem surviving in the woods for an entire week, but he can't do that anymore. He hunts small animals to survive until rescuers finally find him. Never again.
Swapfell Sans - This is fine. He can't light a fire anymore. He's cold. He's missing his thousand-dollar suits. Where the hell is that time when he could sleep outside of a criminal house just to starve them for a month so they don't resist being arrested? Is he that old? Well shit. He's having an existential crisis right here, right now. At least, he has something to think about waiting to be rescued. He's kinda mad he can't survive alone in the wild anymore. What was the point of torturing himself for years if it doesn't even help???
Swapfell Papyrus - Ok, it was funny the first few hours when he tried to catch a squirrel only to throw it in his brother's bed when he got home, but after catching the squirrel and trying to get home, he's not laughing anymore lol. He's holding to the squirrel for dear life as his support dog, well, squirrel, as he tries to find a way out of this hellish place. When night falls though, he gives up and decides to sleep in a hole waiting for someone to come rescue him. Hopefully, his brother cares enough to send help... Right? Nox only realizes one week later Rus is gone, wondering why he hadn't been pranked all week. Weird.
Fellswap Gold Sans - He's enraged. His suit is ruined, his high heels both broke, he smells horrible and he swears the smell from that skunk he tried to hunt is never going away. Wine had better days, but he's finally out of these woods. As soon as he is home, he sends some of his men to burn the forest down. Who cares about the environment? Did the skunk care when it sprayed him? The audacity! He hopes that skunk and all of its family burns to hell!
Fellswap Gold Papyrus - He sits down on a big rock and tries to not freak out. Wine is coming. Wine will blow the forest up and find him. He's not lost, everything is fine, and he's going to get home. When night falls, poor Coffee completely freaks out and starts crying, begging for someone to help. He survives eating apples for a week before Wine comes to fetch him inside of a helicopter. Wine then proceeds to destroy this forest for scaring him to death.

I hope that dumb fuck doesn't put you off writing that universe, I for one thoroughly enjoyed it
I hadn't really planned on it, at least for a while, but again: I was surprised by the amount of people who were immediately like "Yes. I like it. Picasso."
SO! Some thoughts:
Obviously the Captain and his Lieutenant are Steve and Bucky. Steve is an alpha and Bucky is a beta and they want nothing more than to form a triad with Tony. The only reasons they don't are: 1) Tony is skittish. He accepts their gifts with a sweet smile but he also doesn't open up at all. They can't tell if he's just being polite, or if he's just that guarded and they're desperate to keep seeing him so they don't push for fear of scaring him off. (Hint: He's just that guarded and he would be scared off.) 2) The war is on the cusp of ending and the brass are talking about them triad-bonding with someone important. They're pretty sure they heard a princess's name thrown around. What they really want is to go home and work their farm again but apparently they're expected to live at the capitol and marry well just because they've been successful in all their missions, even though a failure meant them dying so they didn't really have a choice but to succeed. 3) They can't tell if Tony remembers them at all. Tony had been the lord of their lands growing up, was about a decade older than them, and they're scared that Tony might worry they're using him as a 'peons fucking their lord in revenge' way. They're not, they were smitten with him even when they were young, but Tony is... well, they've come to understand that Tony expects the worst for himself. And they can't really blame him when he's been whoring himself for a decade. (Tony doesn't remember them, but even if he did, it wouldn't change anything.)
The York boroughs were the first to fall in the war as they were closer to Hydra's borders. Tony's parents had died and he'd been unable to control his holdings as an unmarried omega, and as it turned out, Uncle Obie didn't necessarily have his best interests in mind anyway. So he'd fallen in line with the rest of the York refugees as they'd fled their homes to escape Hydra's armies. But he doesn't have the skills that the rest of his people have--he was expected to take on a home and make a family and all that entailed. He knows how to keep books, but there's not a lot of that type of work when a country's at war, he comes to realize, at least for an omega. He has no money, most alphas would rather marry their sweethearts or no one at all before going off to war, and there's really no one he can turn to for help nearby. He needs money to travel to the Van Dynes'. So, reluctantly, he... opens himself for business. Just to get enough money to travel. Just to get to Jan and the safety of her home. (Tony cries and cries when Jan shows up at the brothel a year and a half later and asks him to show her the ropes, and Jan just holds him, feeling sorry for herself and for him and for every other omega in the brothel. They eventually move brothels--following the Shield's army is more lucrative, and eventually they might earn enough between them to buy a tiny place for them to share, if the war ever really ends.)
Steve spends the first several visits just sketching Tony, because he was an artist first and a soldier second, and it makes Tony blush even though he doesn't quite know why. Because sometimes Steve has him pose with Bucky? Maybe. Some of the positions Steve asks for them to get into feel pretty lewd. But then, maybe they feel lewd because Tony expects them to. He's been at this for a few years now and there have been a lot of things he didn't expect to be sexy to be his customers' kinks. (Bucky is mostly just indulging Steve at first, but then he goes into a survival rut after an especially dire battle and knots Tony twice before he regains rational thought, and Tony is so soft and sweet on his knot that he figures his hindbrain is still chasing that high of an omega submissive underneath him during one of his most primal ruts, all wet and breedable, that it makes him incapable of bonding with any other omega.) ((Steve has always been happy with Bucky, but he has to admit he's always sort of wanted a third to complete their triad, and he really likes Tony. He figures it's because of what Bucky was always teasing him about, though--he always had to be rescuing someone. Tony, for all of his blase shrugs and mysterious smiles, needed at least a little rescuing.))

I have TADC agere headcanons...if anyone cares (prolly not haha)
Posting on art blog because I post my agere art here sometimes, so why not headcanons and writings too?
Will be tagged properly so you can blacklist it if you want.
Age regressors: Gangle and Pomni (FT. YOU)
Caretakers: Jax (yes and I will explain more later), Ragatha, and Zooble
Grandparent who spoils the agere and helps the caretakers: Kinger
I don't have...a spot/hc for Caine yet...sorry...feel free to tell me what you think he'd be good as though, and why/how!
------
🎀Agere Gangle: Its kind of obvious and she's not oblivious to it or in denial. She loves agere and finds it comfty and safe. She loves to draw for hours and have playdates with Pomni (she actually convinces Pomni its ok and to do it.)
I HC her caretaker as Zooble, who can be romantic or platonic! I just think Zooble would be a good caretaker for her.
📐Caretaker Zooble: Zooble is...meh about it on the surface. They don't care and they don't think they need to be so public about it. But once in the headspace, they're kind of like...a cigerette mom? Where they're sarcastic about everything, and they question almost all of your choices with a specific type of judgementalness...but they really care and if anyone (Jax) fucks with their baby, it's gonna go down.
Having Gangle as their little really opens up a protective side they didn't know they had in them. Beating the shit outta Jax becomes a more common occurence.
🤹🏻‍♀️Agere Pomni: Pomni is def in denial, and it takes a LOT of convincing from Gangle (and gentle coaxing from Ragatha telling her it's ok) to really let themselves get into it. She is very shy and anxious about it. At first she was paranoid about others finding out (namely Jax), but one Jax finds out and she becomes accustomed to...him, she really gets into. I feel Ragatha would be the best caretaker, whether platonic or romantic (altho I personally lean towards romantic!)
🔪Caretaker Ragatha: (Knife emoji is for a few reasons haha) I've seen everyone under the sun HC Ragatha as a caretaker...and so they've pretty much already said everything and I agree! Gentle, loving, sweet, but also firm and no nonsense. Her and Jax get into a LOT of fights over the littles...like, a lot. It's like watching two parents at a sports event scuffle over whose kid is better.
♟Grandpa Kinger: I HC Kinger as a grandpa figure. He isn't really a caretaker, but he spoils the littles and plays along with everyone whether he actually knows whats going on or not. Def lets them hide in his pillow fortress, whether to play in, sleep in, or be naughty and hide from their caretakers in. Teaches them about insects...plays silly games with them...etc.
🐇Caretaker Jax: OK...this one is purely for me and I have a lot amusing scenarios with Jax in which I think he'd be a fun and unique type of caretaker...So hear me out...(Since I don't see him as a caretaker for anyone in the circus, section will be xreader, sorry! I made him a caretaker for me, but if anyone does read this and enjoys it...here you go.)
It'd start with him finding out about you being an agere. And in typical Jax fashion, he would mock, berate, and tease the hell out of you every single chance he got. He would def make you cry and be paranoid, because he would go through your room and nitpick anything and everything he found.
Slowly though, and I mean SO slowly you wouldn't even notice it was happening...he would insert himself as your caretaker. Like, I'm talking he would just find amusement in teasing you and playing the part, making you upset and then saying shit like "what, aren't I a good daddy?" when he "helps" you fix the problem he caused...or sushing you by sticking a paci in your mouth, or threatening to spank you if you annoy him just a tad.
He would eventually just. Go to the playdates and sit between Zooble and Ragatha and just...start pretending he's your parent. Behind your back. You wouldn't realize he's doing this or talking about you in this way for awhile. You'd only realize it one day, when you Pomni and Gangle are having a fun competition, and you hear Jax yell at the others about how "his kids the best and gonna win", or some sports dad shit.
You don't know how to confront him, TBH...I'll let you insert how you'd personally confront him.
He's super teasing, loves having excuses to "punish" you (usually puts you in a poorly made baby jail), and acts like a mix between a deadbeat dad who only intercepts when he feels like it, and a protective dad who feels like he has to fight everyone about you being better than all the other "brats".
(Sorry the Jax part is so long, I just have lots of feelings about it...and IK the fandom would see "caretaker Jax" and laugh at how absurd that is which is fair, it's meant to be absurd! That's part of the fun and why I enjoy the idea so much.)
Anyways...yeah...that's it...just need HCs for Caine and Bubble and I'll be set....Sorry for how long this is and if you for some reason decided to read it...wow.

first of all i'd like to thank you for your incredible analyses, i always look forward to reading them!
my question is, what do you think might be the reason behind gojo's outfit resembling toji's as he goes on to fight sukuna who is possessing megumi's body? (my apologies if you've already answered an ask similar to this)
have a good day/night!
Tumblr media
Yes, I think there is a reason for Gege drawing Gojo in Toji's outfit. They are character foils, both considered the peak of their respective sorcery, Toji the peak of physical ability, and Gojo with using cursed energy. Despite being nearly equals they represent positions in the world, Gojo is the golden child of all of sorcerer society, whereas Toji is the scapegoat of the Zen'in who was kicked out only to return to burn the whole village down.
Which is where they are similar as well, they've both had their whole lives defined by the abusive sorcerer system they are stuck in. Gege draws visual parallels to Toji for characters like Megumi and Maki who are affected by this cycle.
Toji is both victim and perpetrator. His actions towards Megumi make him another link in the chain. When Tengen talks about the chain of events that led to Kenjaku sealing GOjo away, he names Toji as the start of that chain.
Tumblr media
Toji was abused his entire life until he lost his ability to believe in his own goodness. Then he discarded his pride and began to kill for money he gambled away anyway. He took a job to kill a girl and shot her in front of Geto Suguru. The sheer injustice of the action broke Geto, who began to look down on non-sorcerers because of that. Which eventually led to his downfall at Gojo's hands years later, and Kenjaku stealing his body.
Each of these players was a victim of violence who then went on to go perpetuate violence against others. Tegen even uses chains while discussing on how he destroyed the future.
Tumblr media
Toji's feelings towards Megumi are complex, but he's also an adult abuser. He was victimized by the toxic masculinity of both the Zen'in Clan, and sorcerer society as a whole, and his personality became formed around that toxic image of strength. He's used as a symbol when other characters act like him at their most violent moments. When they choose to continue the cycle of violence. Megumi looks exactly like Toji, something Gojo even comments on this chapter. Whenever Megumi is indulging in his more violent side, he's drawn to look like Toji.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Megumi is paralleld to Toji time and time again to indicate that Megumi is not mentally well. He is still caught up in this cycle of abuse. Whenever he's pushed a little bit in combat he indulges in his more violent side, he easily justifies murder (Megumi: Unlike Yuji I"m totally willing to kill people in the Culling Gage), and on top of that he's passively suicidal at times. This is not the behavior of a well-adjusted kid. Which is why the cycle is a cycle you can at the same time be a victim of violence and perpetuate violence.
Recently when Sukuna emerges from the bath while possessing Megumi's body, his hair is even drawn like Toji's.
Tumblr media
The bath who's purpose is to make Megumi be near evil, and completely submerge his soul. Toji is not a good role model, guys. If anything the paralleling of Gojo and Toji's outfits is to show that the way Gojo treated Megumi isn't really that different from Toji.
Tumblr media
Gojo appeared on the doorstep of a vulnerable child who had no adult guardian to take care of them, and rather than help that child only saw an opportunity to recruit someone for his child army he plans to overthrow the elders with. It's questionable whether or not Gojo even realizes this is abuse, because he is just doing what was done to him.
Megumi was born with an incredibly powerful technique like Gojo, so I'm sure in GOjo's mind the best thing he can do is to bring out Megumi's full potential as a sorcerer. Gojo doesn't see the option of just letting Megumi live a normal life or have a normal childhood because that wasn't an option for him.
Considering the death of Tsumiki, Gojo's basically failed Megumi in every way that counts TO MEGUMI. After all, the only reason Megumi decided to go with Gojo, is because he thought Tsumiki had a chance of happiness that way. Megumi did everything Gojo asked of him, he let Gojo raise him as a sorcerer for all those years, only for Tsumiki to end up dead in the end.
Tumblr media
Gojo also in his own mind takes the blame for what happened to Yaga because it happened while he was sealed away, so he might even be aware of the fact he has failed Megumi.
Tumblr media
So dressing up Gojo as Toji is an easy visual indicator that Gojo while he wants to break away from the cycle that harms children, is still very much a part of this cycle of abuse. While Gojo never acted as a father figure to Megumi, he was still an adult mentor that was involved in his life and yet never treated him like a child that needed to be protected. In fact, he sort of just exploited the fact that Megumi "owed him".
Tumblr media
Gojo had a real chance to break the cycle of violence when he took in Megumi, the son of a man who harmed both him and Geto so severely. Yet, the cycle remains unbroken because Gojo's yet another adult figure in Megumi's life who failed to take care of him. Now we're at the end result of that, Gojo's got no qualms with beating the tar out of his body while possessed with Sukuna. Because Gojo may care about Megumi, but there's always been something else more important than Megumi's well being and individual needs. Megumi was a tool for Gojo's reform for society first, before he was a child.

Gonna talk about Tina, Bad, and Foolish because they make me INSANE-
I'm not gonna expand on the general conversation that BBH and Tina had because I feel like people already put everything I think into amazingly thought out words, so I'll just focus on the part where they talked briefly about Foolish. (No one's surprised to know since it's coming from me lmao)
You see, the thing about BBH and Foolish is the fact that they DO know each other. They talk in metaphors only THEY could understand, they give each other hints but never the truth, they consider each other family but they would gladly throw each other under the bus, they would do ANYTHING for their families but they wouldn't mind hurting each other in the process. They trust each other, but they also decidedly DO NOT.
They have their own lives, they have their own secrets, and they have their own lies. But they've decided they didn't want to be each other's confidants (for some reason) and of course, anyone who keeps heavy secrets would eventually need to tell someone lest they break under the pressure.
For a while, Foolish had Jaiden. He told her EVERYTHING, he included her in everything he did and knew and planned. At the start, he was doing it just to have someone, he didn't care to throw them under the bus when push comes to shove, but in the process he actually grew to care about Jaiden. So now, he didn't want her involved. He didn't want to taint her image with his own dirt. He realized she was better than him, that he didn't want the others to hate her for something that HE did. So he's looking for a new confidant.
Now, I wouldn't say BBH doesn't have a confidant, he has MANY people who are willing to listen to him, to share his burdens. But similar to Foolish, I don't think he wants to burden them. He doesn't want to hurt them or get them caught in the crossfire. Baghera and Forever are too important to him. But, he's also a LOT more distrustful than Foolish. He knows that if he tells his secrets to people who care about him, they're gonna try to help him, which would include trying to stop him. Which he doesn't want. And he DID tell them, and they ARE trying to stop him now, and I don't think he will. I don't think he'll tell them more in the future too...
Then here comes Tina, the naive little new girl, desperate for friendship and trust. She just wants people to trust her, to confide in her, to believe in her. She just wants to help and be helped and not to be left alone in this cold, cruel world. She wants to be a part of something. She wants to be cared about.
These two, VERY secretive people, saw potential in her. They saw how desperate she was, how she was willing to do ANYTHING just for someone to tell her gheir secrets so she can keep it with them. But of course, Foolish and Bad were not that naive to just immediately tell her everything. They needed to test the waters first, to see if she was actually gonna keep their secrets. To she if she would be perfect for the role they want her to take.
And she did.
Unfortunately for Foolish, BBH (for the lack of better words) got to her first. And now he's trying to get her to squeeze out the truth from Foolish.
Because as much as Foolish and Bad trust each other, they also keep the most secrets from one another. They don't trust how much the other trusts them. And BBH is using Tina to get it out of Foolish.
And Tina... Tina is not as clueless as she seems to be. She KNOWS she's being used. She KNOWS this would be a bad idea, but she goes along with it anyway because she's desperate. In her own words, she knows they're shitty deals, but she'll keep making those shitty deals just to have someone stay. Stay by her side. Stay trusting her. Stay being her friend.
She just doesn't want to feel alone. And now she's stuck between a weird ass Tug o' War between two strange people who could probably burn down the whole Island and kill her in the process without batting an eye if they wanted to.

faerie circle
-> sequel to will o' the wisp -> fae!felix x m!reader
another one that's been rotting in the drafts..... i'm so sorry lmao wc; 1.8k
Tumblr media
your flashlight beam disappears, though this time it's because you've turned it off, not because something is broken. the familiar lights appear, lighting a path through the underbrush. you know the way well enough, but you enjoy watching the lights as they dance around you.
you're not a faerie, but most of the creatures in the forest treat you like one, knowing you're in felix's favor. once, when walking to your apartment with a friend, a crow landed on your shoulder, and when you reached up to pet it, it dropped a sparkling necklace into your hand. it stayed on your shoulder the rest of the walk, which took some explaining when your friend inevitably asked.
you reach the clearing, always bathed in pale moonlight, even when the rest of the forest is dark. you sit down on a fallen log, pulling out a small bag of cereal and another of seeds and nuts. before long, the clearing is alive with small birds and animals.
after some time, a doe and her fawn nose their way into the clearing, and you snap a still-green stick from a small tree and peel the bark off to offer the two. the fawn takes the bark quickly, and you're able to softly pat its nose. the doe is less trusting, but eventually takes the offered treat.
you hear the sound of bells on the wind and look up as felix comes into the space. you smile, glad to see him again.
he takes a seat on the log next to you, and the small creatures that had been surrounding you direct their attention briefly to him, but quickly go back to nosing at you when they realize he doesn't have any food for them.
he looks offended by the rejection and you giggle, finding his reaction cuter than it reasonably should be.
"they like food more than you," you inform him. felix just rolls his eyes, and you rest your head on his shoulder.
"i like you more than food if that helps?"
this time felix laughs, and rests his head on top of yours, "i'll take it."
a breeze blows through the clearing and you shiver, leaning further into the boy next to you. he wraps an arm around your waist and pulls you even closer. it's getting to be winter, and you know that visiting is going to become harder and harder.
you hum quietly, continuing to feed the animals clustered around your feet. the animals come and go, some staying after they've eaten in order to get affection from the two of you, others quickly leaving once they're done.
you notice there's a squirrel being bullied away from the scattered treats, and you lean forward carefully, directly offering it a piece of cereal. the small animal takes the treat, before climbing up your arm and sitting on your shoulder to eat it. felix grins at the interaction, always enjoying watching you with the animals.
eventually you scatter the last of the treats, keeping a couple pieces of cereal and a peanut for the squirrel still perched on your shoulder.
the crowd of animals disperses when they realize there's no more food to be had, but the squirrel on your shoulder stays. felix gently nudges you and you look up at him, tilting your head slightly to the side.
"it's past midnight, you should head back."
you pout slightly, this is always your least favorite part of the meetings you have, but then felix taps the tip of your nose and you can't help but smile.
he stands up and offers you a hand, pulling you to your feet when you take it. the squirrel that's been on your shoulder makes no attempt to move, and when you try to pick it up, it clings firmly to your sweatshirt. after a couple tries you give up, not wanting to injure the small animal.
you look at felix, tapping the tip of his nose the same way he'd tapped yours, and head out of the clearing. before you make it back into the woods, however, you feel him grab your arm.
turning to look at him, you're about to ask if everything's okay. before you can get the words out, you feel his lips on yours, feather light.
you're both frozen for a second, before you put a hand on the back of his neck and pull him in, smashing your lips together. you can almost taste the desperation in the kiss, but any rational thought melts away when you feel his hands tangle into your hair.
you think briefly that this might be a bad idea, but in the past your bad ideas have had good outcomes, and if this is the exception then so be it.
you break the kiss to catch your breath, reveling in the moment of pure euphoria. neither one of you makes any attempt to move away from the other, your ragged breathing the only sound filling the still night air.
"i should go..." you mumble, not moving.
"...yeah." but felix doesn't move either.
you're both scared of ending the moment you've wrapped yourselves in, not sure how you're supposed to leave after this. not sure how things might change when you come back.
without really thinking you ask, "come over?"
felix laughs slightly, making you realize you're dead serious. he seems to realize that too when you finally move, taking his hand and tugging him towards the edge of the clearing.
"i don't know if that's a good idea," he responds, and you can see sadness in his eyes.
"bad ideas are what got me here babe, what's one more?"
you'd used the petname so casually you barely noticed it, but you can see a light blush dust his cheeks.
in order to keep yourself from blushing more than you already are, you turn and pull at his hand again. this time, he follows without protest. just as you're about to leave the clearing, you feel a small weight drop onto your head. you pause, and felix laughs.
"i guess that squirrel really wants to stay with you."
as if on cue, the small animal moves from the top of your head back onto your shoulder, nudging your cheek with its nose. you smile softly, already forming a soft spot for the creature.
the will o' wisps reappear as you make your way out of the clearing and through the woods, heading in the direction of your apartment. you reach the path that cuts through the trees without much trouble, since your first visit you've gotten much better at navigating the tangled underbrush.
the lights disappear as you cross the tree line, and you smile softly. the rest of the walk to your apartment is relatively quiet, you and felix chatting softly about whatever came to mind.
your apartment block comes into sight, the units set up more like a motel than the hotel-like layouts most apartments have. you're glad that you don't have to smuggle a squirrel through hallways or into an elevator, and glad that you won't have to explain anything about having a visitor.
before you go to unlock your door, you pause at the mailbox. there's a small envelope clothespinned to it, your name scrawled on the front in familiar handwriting. you snort, already having an idea of what's inside.
you stick the envelope in your back pocket, pulling out the key to your apartment and slotting it into the lock, opening the door as soon as you hear the confirmatory click of the door unlocking.
"c'mon in," you pull felix into your apartment, your cat emerging from whatever pocket dimension cats hang out in when she hears the door open.
as you turn to close and lock the door, felix crouches down, holding out a hand for your cat to inspect.
your cat's loud, rumbling purr soon fills the space and you laugh quietly, of course she loves felix. the squirrel on your shoulder soon catches her attention, the two of them sniffing at the other. you're not sure what to do if they don't get along, but luckily enough they seem to have no issues with eachother.
you turn to look at felix again, "want anything to eat?"
he tilts his head at you, and you gesture for him to follow you into the kitchen area.
"i've got uhhhhhhh," rummaging through your cupboards you pull out a box of shortbread.
"shortbread?" you hold up the brightly colored box. the squirrel and your cat join you in the kitchen, both looking for food. you roll your eyes and hand the box of cookies to felix.
he sits on the counter, watching as you pick up your cat's food dish and fill it with a can of wet food. the squirrel is sitting next to felix, trying to grab at the shortbreads. he gives one to the small animal and smiles at it munching happily. your cat is standing at your feet yelling, and you sigh and set her food dish on the rubber placemat in the corner of the kitchen, also refilling her water dish.
once your cat is eating happily, you sit next to felix on the counter and grab for some of the shortbreads. he laughs and puts a piece in his mouth, holding it out towards you. you roll your eyes and lean forward, kissing him, and taking the cookie when he opens his mouth slightly.
he blinks a couple times, then glares at you. you just smile back, happily munching on your prize. it doesn't take long before he's smiling too, and laughs quietly.
"you asked for it!"
he rolls his eyes but doesn't argue, instead leaning his head on your shoulder and closing his eyes. you reach up to mess with his hair, reminded of dandelion fluff.
you can feel your eyelids getting heavy and you yawn, prompting felix to look at you.
"'m tired, c'mon," you hop off the counter and grab his hand, dragging him in the direction of your room. your cat follows suit, the squirrel not far behind. you gesture to your bed, covered in plushys and unmade. you're too tired to feel embarrassed. grabbing an oversized t-shirt and comfy pants you turn back to felix, now sitting on the bed, and hand them to him.
grabbing your own pjs, you duck into your bathroom to change and brush your teeth. when you return to your room felix has changed also, and is sitting on your bed again. you drop your laundry into a basket in the corner, flopping facedown onto your bed next to felix. a moment later you feel him playing with your hair.
shuffling around, you manage to lie down properly, patting the space next to you, pulling up the blankets when felix lies down. he quickly goes back to playing with your hair and you hum in contentment, starting to doze off almost immediately.
the sound of bells in the wind is the last thing you hear before slipping into a dream.
