Fred was in his study, trying his best to make use of the peace and quiet of the boys' lie-in. It meant neither were up to mischief either, which was a godsend. With Fao returning to live with them post Afghan, things had finally started to settle back down. Finn’s seizures had begun to decrease again, now that Fao was home and slightly more on the straight and narrow.

The silence didn't last forever, and as much as he didn't want to leave his work, the clatter from upstairs couldn't be ignored.

Fao rarely slept well, and especially not since his accident. He managed a few fitful hours, and then tossed and turned after that. He’d maybe managed to doze a little more, until the pain woke him properly, and he finally dragged himself out of bed. He reached for his crutches, and managed to knock them over as he did. Fuck’s sake, the stupid things never stayed upright. He wasn’t supposed to bend, but he did anyway, and managed to get them up off of the floor.

With that challenge completed, he then had to get to his feet. He just about managed that too, with a groan, and awkwardly pulled on a hoodie before he made his way downstairs the best he could. It was slow going, and that’s what endlessly frustrated him. Things that used to take a minute took five. He headed straight to the kitchen, hoping Fred was busy, and made himself a coffee, leaning against the counter so he could free up his hands.

With that done, he left one crutch leaning up against the counter, opting just to use one to hold his mug with the other hand. He could just about maintain his restricted weightbearing with one crutch, although he wasn’t supposed to.

He stopped by the back door, withdrew a cigarette from the pack Fred hid there, pocketed the lighter next to it, and held the cigarette between his teeth as he negotiated his way out of the door and down the step. The garden wall wasn’t too low, and he sat there whilst he lit his cigarette.

Fred hadn't heard anyone shouting after the noise, so he figured he could just finish his sentence. The back door shutting made him jump, and he swore. The two minutes to finish the sentence had almost been a half hour.

He headed out, his assumption it was Fao confirmed by the abandoned crutch. He couldn’t count the amount of times he'd been told to not do that, or the amount of times they'd been ignored.

Picking up the crutch, he pushed the door open. "Forgetting something?"

Fao looked up a little guiltily. “Nope. Needed a hand for my coffee.” He said, gesturing to the mug with his cigarette.

"You know you're not supposed to." He said, sitting by him. "I don't want you getting hurt again."

“What am I supposed to do, though? I can’t smoke in the house, and I can’t magically carry a mug without any hands.”

"You can ask for help."

“Yeah, because you’ve got nothing better to do with your time than carry a mug for me.”

"Fao, all the people I'm writing about are dead. They can wait another five minutes."

Fao couldn’t help but snort. “Even so, though. It’s still your work.”

"I'm on leave, it's not like I'm expected to do anything."

“I want to be independent, though.” He said, tapping the ash from his cigarette.

"You don't want to be back in hospital."

“No, I don’t, but I’m careful. All I want to do is enjoy my coffee and cigarette like normal.”

"Unfortunately, things aren't normal. You need to ask for help."

Fao reached for his coffee. “It’s not like I’m asking for much.”

"You're asking for trouble if you keep doing this."

Frustrated, he clenched his jaw. It sent a jolt of pain both across his jaw and into his temple and he groaned. Why did everything have to hurt all the time? “I’m depressed, and so they tell me to do things I enjoy, and yet I can’t even sit and have a smoke and a coffee in peace.”

"And they tell you to be sensible and ask for help, take things one day at a time and build your strength back up. You'll get there, but you need to listen to us, not just pick pieces of the conversation to try and use against us."

He sighed. “At least you’ve not told me off for the fucking cigarette, I suppose.” He grumbled, knowing full well he didn’t have an argument for everything else.

"Yeah, because I'm not an arsehole, Fao." He said softly. "Do you remember what I said to you the first day you came to stay with us?"

He hummed. “Don’t let Sheila catch me?”

Fred laughed. "That as well. But, no. That we're in your corner. We're always gonna be here for you, but the way you're going? There's gonna be nobody left for us to be there for."

Fao cradled his mug with both hands, staring down into his coffee. His hair fell into his face where it was getting too long, and he didn’t speak. He didn’t trust his voice.

"You know that though, don't you? That we love you?"

He hummed. “I love you too.”

"Good." Fred smiled. "Right. Breakfast. What are you fancying?"

“None of it was ever because I didn’t love you.” Fao said softly, though he still didn’t look up. “Have whatever you want. I’m not hungry.”

"I know it wasn't. I just know how easy it can be to forget it, when everything is on top of you."

He scoffed. “One way of putting it.”

"I don't know what you're going through, and I don't pretend to. But what I do know is that you're going to get through this. It'll get easier, with time, but you're gonna have to try. And that includes listening to us."

“I’m trying. I swear, I am.”

"I know you are. And I'm proud of you."

“You shouldn’t be proud.”

"You're still here. That's more than enough to be proud of."

“Is it?” Fao asked, finally looking at Fred.

"It is."

“I don’t exactly control it.”

"You control your actions."

“And look where that got me. I’m only alive because of Harrison.”

"I don't mean that, Fao."

“And then I tried to undo all of his hard work, like a cunt.”

"And you've been working so hard to keep going, despite everything." He corrected.

“Sure.”

"I'm serious."

“So am I.”

"You need to listen to us."

Fao took a drag of his cigarette. “How did a lecture on using both of my crutches turn into a discussion about my depression?” He asked, his voice lighter than it had been.

"Give me five minutes and I can change it again."

He smiled. “Is Finn still asleep?”

"Finn? Awake before noon?"

“You never know.”

"I haven't heard him."

“That’s good. He needs the rest.”

"What would you say to him if he refused to take all of his meds?"

“I take all of mine.” Fao shot back.

"And then you walk around with one crutch."

“Carefully. It wasn’t far.”

"You still walked."

“I kept the weight off it.”

"It's hard to do that when you're not doing it properly."

“It’s not so bad.”

"I know, but you're still missing the point."

“I’ll be more careful in future.”

"Will you?"

“For the most part.”

Fred laughed. "I guess that's as good as I'll get."

“Can’t promise all the time. I was stupid enough to spend my whole career getting shot at, after all.”

"That's true."

“Could’ve picked a nice, safe hospital. Decided I preferred the idea of Afghanistan.”

"Of course you did."

“Why would I go for the easy option?”

"You never have, no point starting now."

“Hug?” He asked softly.

"Yeah, come here." He murmured, wrapping his arm around Fao.

Fao leaned into him with a sigh. “Sorry I’m such a pain.”

"You're not, far from it."

He hummed. “Thank you, though. For everything.”

Enough Is Enough - Maureen Robinson/Dr Smith, John Robinson.

“You brought this on yourself.” Five words. Maureen’s eyes close and she can tell what’s coming, thankful only that the kids are busy with friends. She had told John, firmly for once, that she was welcoming Smith home. Now, now she was braced for the results. John steps closer and she stiffens, prepared for it. It’s been years of secret agony. Now all she can hope is that she’s still alive when he’s finished. He’s pushing her back before she can stop it, her back bouncing hard enough off a wall to drag a groan from her. The punishments always start this way. His hand is almost at her neck when something, someone, collides with him, hard. His head snaps back and to the left, ricocheted with the power of the delivered punch that lands. Then his body hits the ground. “Get the hell off her.” Smith. He feels the name in his bones, cursing his wife for trusting her so easily, cursing himself for not making sure the threat to his life with his kids and wife was squashed. Still, he has time. Next thing he knows he’s picked up, carried like a bag of trash towards the cells, the prison. He will rot there. He knows that, if Robot has proof of what he did. Left behind, sinking slowly down the wall, Maureen tips forward into Smith’s arms, burrowing her face into soft hair, the feeling of Smith’s arms wrapping around her finally giving her somewhere to feel safe. “Picked a good time to visit I suppose.” Smith murmurs softly, tucking Maureen close with a sigh. She’s just been released and yet she knows, she wouldn’t change a thing. She can feel Maureen trembling, her touch soft through auburn hair, her lips pressed to Maureen’s hairline. “I’ve got you now, it’s over.”

NUMBERS

100% - 100 percent white

109 or 110 - A reference to the 109 countries that have expelled, in whole or in part, their Jewish populations. 110 refers to the hope that more countries will do so, usually specifically the United States. Often posted on its own as a reply, or phrased as a question (e.g. "If you were kicked out of 109 bars it's probably our fault")

1290 - A reference to the Edict of Expulsion of 1290, which expelled the Jewish population of England

13/50 or 13/52 or 13/90 - The supposed statistic that Black Americans make up 13% of the population yet commit 50% or 52% of violent crime, or 90% of interracial violence. Often posted on its own as a reply

14 - The Fourteen Words, a Neo-Nazi slogan

14/23 - A number representing the Southern Brotherhood, an Alabama prison gang

1488 - A combination of the Fourteen Words and Heil Hitler

C18 - Combat 18, a British neo-Nazi group

18 - The letters A (1) and H (8), standing for Adolf Hitler

21-2-12 - The Letters U (21), B (2), and 12 (L), standing for Union, Brotherhood, and Loyalty, the slogan of the Unforgiven, a Florida prison gang

Cultural Marxism - A conspiracy theory that Jews are intentionally weakening "Western values" in order to make countries like the United States more susceptible to communism. This was called Cultural Bolshevism in Nazi Germany

Da Shoah or Muh Shoah or Muh Holocaust - A mockery of the Holocaust

Day of the Rope - A day referenced in neo-Nazi book The Turner Diaries when all race traitors will be hanged

Degenerate - An insult based on the false theory that bad morals will cause human beings to regress along the path of evolution (to de-evolve). Used to describe groups, individuals, or ideologies

Early Life - A reference to the "Early Life" section of Wikipedia biographies, which will reveal that a person is Jewish or has Jewish ancestry

Every Single Time - Every time something bad happens, the perpetrator is Jewish

Featherwood - A term derived from racist prison subculture. A featherwood is a woman associated with a racist gang

Gorillion - A mockery of the number 6 million, being the amount of Jews who were murdered in the Holocaust

Khazar - A reference to the conversion of a group of Khazars (a Turkic people) to Judaism. Antisemites speculate that the entirity of Ashkenazi Jews are descended from these Khazar converts, and therefore have no historical, cultural, or genetic tie to the Levant. This has been proven false on multiple occasions

Kike - A racial slur against Jews

Lizard People or Reptilians - A conspiracy theory by far-right figure David Icke, claiming that world leaders are really reptilian aliens. Most people who believe this theory believe that the lizard people in question are the Jews

Magic Soil - A protest against the idea that people of one nationality can become people of another nationality simply by living in a country (i.e. "France doesn't have magic soil that turns Africans into Frenchmen")

Nicker - An intentional misspelling of the N word in an attempt to bypass censors or automatic content filters

Ns - Black people (as in the plural of the letter N)

NSDAP - Nationalsozialistiche Deutsche Arbeiterpartei. The Nazi party, but using an acronym that is unfamiliar to most people

NS - National Socialist

Noticer - Someone who "notices" that Jews control the world

The Noticing - A mass movement of people "noticing" that Jews control the world

New World Order - A far-right conspiracy theory about Jews taking control over the world and implementing a single world government. Also used in conjunction with phrases like "world banks"

OFOF - One Front, One Family. Slogan of the neo-Nazi group Volksfront

ORION - Our Race Is Our Nation

Oy Vey - A Yiddish exclamation meaning "oh woe". Used by neo-Nazis to mock Jews

Pattern Recognizer - Someone who has recognized the "pattern" of Jews always being in control

Peckerwood - A term derived from racist prison subculture. A peckerwood is a man associated with a racist gang

Power Level - A memeification of far-right beliefs. The more fascist your beliefs, the higher your "power level"

The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion - A 20th century Russian hoax claiming to be the minutes of meetings between Jewish leaders discussing how they will take control of the world

Pure Blood - Someone who is a pure member of the white race

Rabbi Smolett - A claim that Jews fabricate antisemitic hate crimes (a reference to actor Jussie Smolett who was accused of doing the same)

ROA - Race Over All

The Goyim Know - A phrase used by white supremacists acting like Jews who have discovered white supremacist activity, and are afraid that they've been found out. Often "The Goyim Know, Shut It Down", which adds the idea that Jews will prohibit any conversation that gets too close to the truth

The Red Cross - A reference to the supposed fact that the Red Cross claimed only 271,000 people had been murdered in concentration camps. "To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you're not allowed to criticize" - A quote often misattributed to Voltaire, which neo-Nazis use to decry claims of antisemitism as efforts to silence them. In fact, it's a quote from a neo-Nazi pedophile

Shabbos Goy - A non-Jewish neighbor of a Jew who can be asked to perform acts Jews are forbidden from doing on the Sabbath (e.g. turning of a light or turning on the heat). Used by neo-Nazis to claim someone is a slave to Jews

Sheeeiiit - An over-the-top representation of how "shit" is said with a Blaccent. Often used in memes declaring Black people to be less intelligent

Shekels - Jewish currency (from the Hebrew word for weight, similar to how British currency is called the pound. In reality, the plural of shekel is shkalim). The name has been adopted by the State of Israel for the NIS (New Israeli Shekel). "Shekels" is used by neo-Nazis to mock Jews as being greedy

Synagogue of Satan - An antisemitic term for Jews, stemming from the Chrsitian Bible

They or Them - When used to describe a nebulous group of undefined adversaries, these words almost always refer to Jews

They Cry Out in Pain As They Strike You - An antisemitic proverb claiming that Jews will make false cries of antisemitism while at the same time perpetrating atrocities

Troon - A slur against trans people, particularly trans women

Volk - German for "folk", or "kind". Used by neo-Nazis to refer to white people

We Wuz Kangz - A racist phrase ment to mock Black nationalists

White Genocide - The myth that a group of people (usually Jews) are conspiring to eliminate the white race through various means including immigration, intermarriage, and homosexuality

In 2023: My Chemical Romance performed their 63rd show of the 2022-2023 Swarm tour in Meeanjin (Brisbane), Australia. At this show, an unreleased song (titled "Eagles" on the paper setlist) was performed for the 7th time ever, with new lyrics. Gerard Way wore a dark grey skirt suit and white shirt, and "Everything Under Control" was written on the drums. (🖤)

I'm combining days 13 + 20 of @sariphantom's Rise August Art Challenge (kimono + fashion), but got a bit ambitious and will have to post it on day 20 to give myself enough time to finish.

So for now, here's a "work in progress" GIF as a preview! It's just a couple of unfinished snippets (definitely need to fix a few things!).

I also feel like I should mention that these ones are screenshot edits, not full redraws! There's no way I'd be finished by day 20 if I was fully redrawing every frame!
