When you first meet, he is so nervous and clamped, clinging to his clothes, firmly pressing ears to head, not expecting anything good from you, anxiously delineating the boundaries of his territory and building a nest of blankets to make a place where he will be safe. He suffocates with fear whenever you approach from behind, bites lips restlessly, and twitches ear when you try to behave respectfully, unaccustomed to communicating with restless prey.

(considering that Toge is a snake, Maki is a raccoon dog, and Panda as a whole is not subject to such nervousness).

And Yuuta appreciates it when he thinks about the past day, hiding in a fluffy fortier, realizing that you want him to be comfortable, — and really tries not to flinch when you approach, not to look scared, to look confident and relaxed, even if you see that he doesn't feel that way.

... He warms up to you quickly, though. When you try not to look intimidating or aggressive, almost cooing over him, making him feel both awkwardly embarrassing and grateful — it's enough for him to greet you with raised ears and a happy smile, even if you go to train him. Gullibility is not the best quality for prey, but you purr that you will take care of him in every sense while combing his hair (as pack animals do, right?), and Yuuta really wants to believe you, especially when you rub him behind the ear, making his leg tremble.

He's just so cute, even if he looks up to you morally, not physically, being tall enough for ordinary prey, especially his kind. It's not that you were against it — Yuuta somehow develops behind you in a trusting gesture, shyly waiting for your words and actions, as if he can't make any wolf look up. And such timid trustfulness and entrusting what was happening to you was even pleasant, especially when his fingers were clinging to your clothes so as not to lose sight of you, or accepting you as a dominant rabbit and part of the pack, or when Yuuta slightly chatters his teeth, snuggling up to you to show that he feels happy.

... The first moment when he falls asleep next to you with his eyes closed? Absolutely precious. The feeling that he completely trusts you when he presses closer to your side, expecting that you will keep him company and also fall asleep next to him (or on him) makes you feel sleepy, especially when he wraps his arms around your hips or stomach, nuzzling you.

Precious.

Rabbits are very possessive creatures, you know? They don't let outsiders into their territory (or anyone if they are very possessive), they don't like someone else's smell, they don't really like to share and easily attack and growl when upset. Yuuta is not very different in many ways — after all, he is also a rabbit, and although he knows that this is bad and wrong, he cannot help but be possessive, even knowing and trying to work on these traits.

When you smell unfamiliar, Yuuta can't help but rub against you, trying to suppress the irritating smell by carefully wiping your skin with himself. Or when you are apart and his pack instincts become too sensitive, demanding that he find you and snuggle up to your side, as he has been away from the pack for too long. What's going on with you? When you write to him or call him, it becomes a little easier — it doesn't matter if it's your text, face or voice, anything makes him feel less abandoned, helping to take a deep breath at least once with the thought that you are fine and experiencing a temporary separation normally. If you're coping well with separation, then it's not that serious — he's just too restless, right? There's nothing so bad about members of the same pack sometimes spending a little more time apart than they need to. Everyone sometimes needs a little time without the other.

Rabbits often snuggle up to each other in search of protection and warmth, being very social creatures — and although you probably could not boast of the same species features, Yuuta can do nothing, constantly hiding his face in your neck or shoulder and crawling under your side, hugging and cuddling tightly, looking for a soothing smell.

Not as annoying as you might feel at first (especially if you're not a gregarious hybrid), and although you don't know if it's a particularly soft nest, or his soothing heartbeat, or because it's Yuuta, but later you start to feel it as a pleasant and satisfying activity, getting used to the fact that now you are not walking alone, but with the mate snuggled up.

At least he's not too cold and not too warm, and his ears are even a little funny, — especially when they twitch in their sleep or when you blow on them, — and the way he tries to get under you is still cute.

It's not typical for Yuuta to be warm — you'd rather feel how cold his hands and nose are than admire their heat, even if it's typical for tiny prey to be as hot as an oven. A fast metabolism with a lot of burning of various calories — although this is definitely his case, Yuuta continues to persistently stay cool, except for those moments when his face and ears burn with shyness.

A pleasant, affectionate warmth, that spreading over his always cold body, you can feel only a couple of days before his estrus.

Yuuta becomes much more sleepy and restless, being able to sleep for more than twelve hours, waking up only because of your attempts to get out, perceiving it as a signal to protect from something, — and you end up spending an almost obscene amount of time surrounded by blankets and pillows, holding him in your hands while Yuuta coos and purrs in sleep, holding you tightly in case of another attempt to escape from him. His reactions in a dream next to you to any stimuli are minimal — it doesn't matter if you squeeze him, grope his body or bite his neck, Yuuta only whines sometimes, pressing even harder against your hands and body, allowing you to do what you want if you don't leave him.

... By the time he wakes up, he's usually covered in bites and hickeys because he looked so shamelessly defenseless and warm in front of you, that you couldn't give up your natural need. It's not your fault that Yuuta keeps you so close, baring his neck and skin, even knowing that there is a bored predator next to him, unable to even budge at their will, and seduced by him. He was even lucky that it ended only so innocently, because you could have gone further, — although, looking at his face, on which there is no hint of displeasure or discomfort, despite his body painted in your marks, you cannot be sure whether this was not his original desire.

Perhaps Yuuta wanted you to take good care of him from the very beginning.

Yuuta whines so sweetly, almost begging you not according to the script, especially when you catch him with your claws, ignoring his attempts to scratch you or push you away, forcing his hips to cling tightly to each other — only to be forcibly pushed apart by you and covered in bites when you reach lower, making him tremble (with delight? from awe? from fear?)

He may have more cursed energy, but in a physical struggle you will win; squeezing hips until bruises and biting shoulders until his moaning stops, replaced by intermittent sighs from lack of air and fatigue that you will make him make, ignoring whining and pleas 'not to eat him'.

Of course you are not going to eat him — just bite a little until he becomes a good prey and stops trying to get out of your clutches, and when Yuuta twitches again, trying to get out, you force him to stay in place — as befits a good bunny, which he should be. Only good bunnies get rewarded, or you're going to eat him... although you absolutely cannot ignore how wet he gets — this is not at all the reaction of a good rabbit who whines that he wants to get out while his thighs can't stop shaking with excitement. No wonder he can't even run away from you with such shaking legs — it's hard to run when he only wants to breed until he loses consciousness, and then continue, being so sensitive that one squeeze is enough for him to start clinging instead of trying to scratch.

When his ears stretch back, and wet, shiny eyes follow your every move, when your hands scratch his stomach, leaving red bruises, and Yuuta forcefully restrains a painful moan, feeling you stroke between his thighs, making him feel so painfully excited and excited because of the pain — and whining uncontrollably when you growl, causing him to almost choke with surprise and uncontrollably tremble even more, squeezing you with his strong legs.

Even when your hand reaches out to press him down and grab his neck, Yuuta only enthusiastically grabs it, wrapping his leg even more tightly around your thigh, and you can't help but wonder which of you is really the prey while he rubs against your thigh, obsessively kissing your hand and rubbing his cheek against it.

A naughty, tiny rabbit who only wants you to take good care of him.

Hiyori: Ah, you’re talking about the ASOBI club? I’ve heard Jun-kun talk about it sometimes.

Since they left them in this common room, it means that anyone can play with these tabletop games, doesn’t it?

Nagisa: …… It seems to be what Yuuta-kun’s group intended by leaving them here.

Tsumugi: I’m sorry, Eichi-kun. Everyone had so much fun, that I even lost track of time on when to stop playing.

Eichi: No, you don’t have to apologise, Tsumugi. I accompanied you for this long because I enjoyed myself too.

Hiyori: Mmhm. You should thank Nagisa-kun and I; who had invited you!

Eichi: I don’t really feel like thanking Hiyori-kun.

Hiyori: We’ve played quite a bit, but there are a few that we haven’t tried yet. We really can’t not call Jun-kun to come with us the next time we play.

Nagisa: ……I’ll try asking Ibara too.

Tsumugi: Seems like it’ll be a huge group. Then, I’ll ask Sora-kun if there is a game that can be enjoyed together by a lot of people.

Can I join you again when the time comes?

Hiyori: Of course. Better yet, let’s hold a game tournament in Starmony Dorms. That’ll be good weather……☆

Nagisa: …… Each individual has their own style of thinking. Rather than playing with just one person all the time, playing with a lot of people might serve to widen your range of strategy.

Eichi: I see. It’s a good idea for something like recreation.

It might be a good idea to take videos of idols on their days off to distribute them.

It just so happens that I was in the middle of formulating the details of my next project. I thought I should connect this to the plan.

JJK AND THEIR COFFEE ORDERS

sk8 the infinity ver. here !

nobara is definitely a frappuccino girly. love, love, loves sugar cookie flavouring, too, in a large cup with a straw because “it feels like i’m a girlboss that way.” she said it, not me.

yuuji is pretty picky with his coffee? isn’t a huge fan of it, but when he does have it, it’s a double-double accompanied by a pastry. he doesn’t adventure too far from his usual order, other than trying out a new or seasonal drink.

megumi drinks it black. straight from the beans. foul creature.

geto gives hazelnut syrup vibes… don’t worry, i will elaborate. he likes an espresso shot with latte foam art and steamed oat milk, all mixed together with two pumps of hazelnut syrup. otherwise, he’s mostly a tea person.

gojo doesn’t even want to taste the coffee’s bitter flavour… he wants it completely masked by sugar and by sugar alone. four-milk-six-sugar-in-a-medium sort of man. drinking straight candy, is what it is.

nanami was a religious coffee drinker back when he worked that 9-5, so he was not particularly partial to any coffee order if the caffeine was doing its job. as long as it didn’t taste like burnt shit water, he doesn’t care all too much. enjoys a nice café trip where he can sit and relax every now and then.

maki is a cold brew enthusiast, but also drinks it black (as in, no milk), though takes a few vanilla shots with it and another sweetener. likes the essence of the coffee taste, but mostly prefers sweetness over the bitterness.

inumaki is an avid iced coffee fan to the point where sub-arctic conditions do not daunt him. he usually rotates his order from an iced psl or mocha with maki or yuuta to order for him (for obvious reasons). he’ll down whatever size they give him. insanity.

yuuta reacts so poorly to caffeine, it’s hilarious in hindsight but i can’t help but pity him… poor boy is already anxious enough as it is, he can’t tell the difference between the coffee jitters and his usual shakiness. plus, he gets the shits. doesn’t like it, but will have one the rare occasion.

panda doesn’t drink coffee. he’s a panda.

mahito would spit it out immediately along with a vile string of profanities if he ever got the chance to even try coffee.

kenjaku (using geto) hated the idea that he was getting used to drinking something so gently-flavored and sweet. had it anyways, but would always order tea if given the choice.

"Gojo was the main character, not Yuuji." Honey, Gojo was in a box for three years. The story still largely follows Yuuji unless it's cutting to the side-plots of other characters.

"Yuuji hasn't been the main character since the end of season one." Please tell me where Gojo, as the 'main character,' was from chapter 93 to chapter 220 while we followed Yuuji through the majority of the story before, during, and after Gojo's sealing. Better yet, tell me where Gojo is now while Yuuji's still alive.

"Gojo was the most important character to the plot." Maybe to you, but I can list off four main characters right now that have been more involved in the story than him. Just because he had a character arc like everyone else, doesn't mean that he's more important than the others.

If we really wanna get crazy about it, lets go through the arcs, yeah, since Yuuji isn't the main character and the story isn't about him.

Cursed Child: Yuuta focused

Perfect Preparation: Maki focused

Hidden Inventory: Gojo and Geto focued

Fearsome Womb, Vs. Mahito, Kyoto Goodwill Event, Death Painting, Shibuya, Itadori Extermination, Culling Games: Yuuji focused

Shinjuku Showdown: Sukuna focused (so far) with Gojo dying 13 chapters in and frequent cut-backs to the students. Still being written.

You can't claim that Gojo was THE main character and that the story was about him instead of Yuuji when he hasn't even been here for the majority of it. Was he A main character with a largely important role in the story as a whole? Yes, but so is Megumi and y'all aren't complaining this much about him being gone from the story.

"I'm seriously considering dropping the manga now, and I know a lot of other people are as well." Good! Good, because if Gojo dying makes the entirety of the story unimportant to you, then go find something you care about more cause it obviously wasn't jjk.

"There's no plot without Gojo."

What do you think the plot is? Genuinely. Cause if I take out everything that doesn't have to do with Gojo, we lose more than half the manga.

"If Gojo's dead then there's no point! The villains win and the students are gonna die." Kenjaku and Sukuna don't win until every single one of the students are in the ground, sorry to break it to you. Every single one of them have gone through insane amounts of growth in the last arc alone and it's just plain short-sighted and wrong to think that they won't continue to grow stronger just because Gojo is out of the picture. What do you think they did in Shibuya when Kenjaku's plan succeeded and Gojo was sealed? Lay down and die? No, they stepped the fuck up like Gojo knew they would and they worked together to survive.

If you cared about the series, or even Gojo, as much as you say you do, you'd know that the students overcoming this is not only what Gojo wants, but also what the story is about. Acting like there's nothing without Gojo just tells me that you only cared about Gojo superficially and that the story means nothing to you without him.

satosugu - a review

(SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2 AND SHIBUYA)

I am writing this in honor of Season 2 dropping! I am a manga reader so I know what's going to happen, but that's not the point. Its about seeing my boys!

I literally am shitting bricks for these two. I would give up a kidney for these two to be happy. This ship has so much canon backing and parallels. Thus far, this ship has 2 parallels in canon;

The first one being Itadori and Megumi (ItaFushi). Itadori is from 'normal' parents and more importantly a jujutsu-society free upbringing. He is known as a curse eater. This is important because he parallels Geto. They both are either dead or going to end up dead, with Itadori hopefully being executed by Megumi. This death and execution is to parallel the KFC-breakup. Since the prodigy, and the one with the power to change to the world will have to kill the only person that could hope to understand them on such a personal level. Megumi here would parallel Gojo. Since both are treated like prodigies from birth, and told that they are the 'best'. Now, back to Yuji and the Shibuya incident. Both Geto and Yuji have killed millions of people (or monkeys, if you must) But, this is where their characters split, as this is a similar archetype taken different ways. As Yuji sticks to his guns, feeling absolute guilt for killing these people. Geto falls off the wagon, and he kills without remorse because he is a example of a very kind character warped by others and being used by them. I believe Itadori will also follow a similar path, albeit a little less intense towards the end of the manga.

The other one being Yuuta and Rika. The score that plays during the KFC-breakup is the same that plays when Yuuta says, "this is pure love," That was a conscious choice, be it platonic or not both Rika and Yuuta were going to be the death of each other if they continued the way they did. And that is exactly what happened to SatoSugu, they saw they own eminent destruction and couldn't stop a train on a dime. They came crashing together and destroyed so many in their wake.

Tropes Associated: 8/10

(the friends to enemies to lovers is STRONG with these two, along with the only one that understands me etc. They are both insufferable. But the tropes are either soul-crushing and sad or like yay! Shibuya didn't happen and everyone is happy :D)

Dynamic: 10/10

(I love these two, they are such big jerks and so annoying to literally anybody but each other. But, they are also the only ones who every truly understood each other. Since both were burdened with Jujutsu society and trying to be the strongest.)

Looks: 9/10

(Sun and moon duo, contrasting hair. Also Geto has ass, Gojo has no ass to speak of, simply math, also Geto hot :3 sue me man)

All in all: 28/30

A young woman sighs at the older man as she fixes up the tea she made for him. Picking up the morning newspaper in hand as she sets the tea and paper on a small table. The older Itadori scowls, put picks up the tea and paper. Grumbling about how it's to sweet for his taste.

The younger Itadori smiles at his grandpa, sitting next to him on the floor. Digging into the tasty snack that his mother had prepared. "Go sit at the table boy!" Yuji stubbornly shook his head. "No, I wanna eat with you Gramps!"

The boy smiled happily, as a hand leand down to wipe off the crumbs from his chubby face.

"Yuji, don't talk with your mouthful. You'll choke." A tender voice said from beside them. The pink haired boy nods his head. "Sorry mom.." "No worries sweetie! Don't forget to drink your juice."

The old man laughs at his grandson gullibleness, yet his laughter ceased when the little tyke starts to tear up. "Grandfather! That wasn't nice!" (Y/N) said, holding Yuji close as she wipes the juice off the boys face.

"You can't blame me for thinking that, I know how you were with Jin back in high-school."

(Y/N) frowns at Wasuke, knowing what he was getting at. "Mom poisoned dad before?" Yuji asked with childish wonder in his tone.

"A-ah, um, no sweetie... You see, mommy poisoned her classmates to make sure your daddy would be all to herself."

"Why?"

"Because, your mommy loved daddy very much..."

"Why?"

"Because she's insane." Wasuke informed the little boy, glaring at the so-called "mother".

"Why?" Yuji asked a third time, which made the old man sigh, exasperated at his idiotic grandson.

(Y/N) smiles softly, patting Yuji's head with sadness. "Love makes people do... Bad things, for the people they love, sweetie."

(Y/N) watches as Yuji silently cries to himself over the death of his grandfather. Her maternal instincts urging her cry with him, even if she couldn't. So all she do to console the young teen was to pat his back. Rubbing it soothingly to calm him. Yet her son's grieving stopped once another teen approached them.

"YUJI...!" (Y/N) screams, watching the man in the blindfold make her son sleep. Pushing the roof door open, she pulls out a steak knife from her back pocket, ready to stab this man to death.

Before she could land a hit, the man noticed her presence. Frowning at the man, she rushes at him. Making him drop Yuji as he slyly dodges her slashes.

"My my~! I didn't know there was a lady here. I would of showed off more!"

(Y/N) smiles at the man, which confused Gojo as she changes tactics. This time throwing her purse at him as he catches. Which had a good weak point for a good cut!

Smiling maniacally, she raised her knife to land a hit on his stomach-!

But was immediately put into a chokehold with one of his hands.

Feeling her breathing coming out in puffs. She doesn't let go of her knife, struggling in his grip.

"Heheh~"

Gritting her teeth she kicks her leg up managed to kick him back as she held her weapon defensively.

Looking at the young boy who had led her and her son to the school. Then at his supposed "teacher".

Koga: Oh! I thought ya were a despicable guy, but unexpectedly ya have some good understandin' sense huh! Eichi: ...♪

Koga: Ya want me to join the ‘Summit’?

Rei: Yes. I have work on the next scheduled ‘Summit’. Neither I nor Hasumi-kun can likely participate on that day.

So I want you to act like a step-in and partake, that’s the thing…

Koga: Then why me? Some other dudes hafta be free that day, too.

Rei: I checked the schedule. The only one who is free that day is you, Koga.

Koga: Ain’t that too sudden... Do I necessarily need to take part?

Rei: ...It is Tenshouin-kun that I’m weary of. He can use RhyLin’s vacant seat that day and try to pull some sinister schemes, which might become unfavorable for us.

And if not him, ‘Summit’ also has Saegusa-kun there. If we don’t have an exclusive, it can create an obvious opening and I would like to avoid that.

Koga: I see. In other words, ya want me to come and watch out for other agencies' weird movements, and threaten them?

Rei: I won’t say you need to go as far as threaten them. Even if it’s just a step-in but as long as RhyLin has a representative, others won’t try and think about doing any imprudent thing.

Koga: Got the gist... But for real, I can’t get hyped at all.

‘Summit’ is the place to talk about some troublesome things, right? Just thinkin’ about it already bores the shit out of me.

Hinata: Ah, over here~ Ogami-senpai!

Tori: So it is real, Ogami-senpai is the substitute that participates in their stead.

Koga: What? Ya questionin’ me?

Yuuta: If you don’t understand anything, we can explain it to you. Please feel free to ask anytime, Ogami-senpai ☆

Akiomi: Please wrap up your idle talk. You should hurry and take your seat now, the ‘Summit’ is about to start.

Tsumugi: Here you go, Ogami-kun. Here are today’s documents.

Koga: Thank you, Aoba-senpai.

Eichi: Then, let us start the ‘Summit’. Firstly, let’s begin with each agency’s activity reports...

Eichi: This is StarPro’s upcoming planned events. Do you have any questions?

Koga: Zzz... ♪

Hinata: Hey, Yuuta-kun. He is definitely sleeping, right?

Yuuta: What are you even saying, Aniki? You don’t even need to ask, he is already deep in the dreamland.

Koga: ...!? That was close, I almost fell asleep.

Tori: No way, you were totally snoozing there! Even if you are trying to play it cool now, it is too late already!

Ibara: Now now, Mr. Ogami has a lot of stress built up in his body, right? ‘UNDEAD’ recently has become a chart-topping variety show's ‘unit’ too.

Koga: Argh? What was that, gotta talk some nasty shit to me now?

Akiomi: It was your fault for falling asleep just then. You should show more apprehension in this kind of meeting.

Koga: ...My bad.

But hey, why are y’all explainin' the things that have already been written on the materials anyway?

Tsukasa: Conveying the content of the materials verbally can help you implement them. It is not a particularly odd thing, isn’t it?

Koga: That’s not what I meant. Since all the agency’s representatives are sittin' here right now, we should talk about something more useful!

Tsumugi: Uhm, what does Koga-kun consider to be useful talks?

If we do a rockin' live then fans will also jack up a lot! Ain’t that the thing that makes all agencies merry too ♪

Tori: Haa... You really are a child, Ogami-senpai.

Eichi: What kind of lives you want to do, you say... Fufu, quite intriguing.

Today we already disseminated all the things we need to share and our general talk has finished. There isn’t a topic that specifically needs to be brought up as well.

In that case, how about we discuss the useful talk Ogami-kun has mentioned?

Tori: Eichi-sama!?

Koga: Heheh, then I will go first! Ya lots, clean yer ears and hear me out!

Rei: Goodness me, Hasumi-kun is such a worrywart.

He tells me to inquire Koga directly about the ‘Summit’ discussion. He isn’t a child who can stir up some problems in just one day of being substitute.

Eichi: Yah, Sakuma-kun. You have returned.

Rei: Isn’t it you, Tenshouin-kun? My apology for not being able to join the ‘Summit’ today.

Eichi: It is not a big deal. Your substitute solidly stood his place.

Rei: About that, how was Koga? I hope he didn’t cause any trouble for Tenshouin-kun and everyone on his first ‘Summit’ partaking.

Eichi: He didn’t cause any issue at all. Rather, thanks to him, we were able to have a beneficial discussion ♪

Rei: You said you had a beneficial discussion...?

Eichi: If there is an occasion, please ask him to come again.

Well then, I will be going now.

Rei: What does he mean? Why was Tenshouin-kun happy that Koga joined them...?

Koga, what have you done at the ‘Summit’?

Koga: I thought I heard someone’s mumbles, it is just ya, Sakuma-senpai.

Rei: Oh, speak of the devil. Sorry for the suddenness, but how was today’s ‘Summit’?

Koga: Tsk, even ya asked the same question. That glasses bastard’s been blowin' up my Hold-hands and grillin' me for the same thing.

Even when I told him there wasn’t any big deal goin' on.

Rei: From your response, I can see that everything was really fine and all... But then, what’s with the attitude from that Tenshouin-kun?

Koga: Tenshouin-senpai? That was unexpected, he was a more sensible dude than I thought he would be.

Rei: Sensible, you say...? What did you talk about at the ‘Summit’?

Koga: What we talked about...

COANDA EFFECT - UPDATE

so, here's the tumblr post i promised summarising the updates for the newly published coanda effect as of 3rd may 2024! if you're planning a reread, spoilers below

The main change is that Yuuta never drove for JTR. His rookie season was at Nara in 2020, followed by a move to keicho in 2021, partnering utahime, where he won the wdc. utahime steps down at the end of 2021 to make way for yuuji, who drove previously for sengoku in his rookie season (2021).

points tallies, all the way through. tables also now have a positions changing indicator and interviews/pressers are formatted like the FIA transcripts irl!

nanami was gojo's teammate right up until 2021, from 2015 onwards. he moved to sengoku to make way for megumi to come in as a rookie. this means he was never yuuji's teammate: yuuji's teammate in his rookie season was inumaki.

just thought id add a quick little wdc summary for clarity purposes

jjk spoilers under the cut !!

i just think yuuta is definitely helpless, but not as much as everyone seems to think

he never learned how to properly knot a tie, his relationship with his father had turned distant after the accident with rika. he could have looked up videos or even asked gojo, but what would be the point?

sure it would look a little weird and he’d give himself away as ignorant to more than a few people. but, it was truly hard to put the effort in to care even a little.

then toge was looking at him with those lovely violet eyes, teasingly raising an eyebrow at the sad mess around his neck.

it only took yuuta to smile helplessly for toge to huff a silent laugh and come close enough for his scent of lavender and sweet lily to tickle his nose.

nimble hands undo the mess, and in less than a moment, tug a perfect tie under his chin. patting his chest with a note of satisfaction and crescents in his eyes.

it took his breath away.

so, no one could really blame him for… playing it up a little.

kind of like a school girl trying to get attention, he didn’t exactly lie, but he did maybe emphasize his struggles a little.

so.

maybe he mentioned not understanding how to use a smart phone just to see his nimble fingers mischievously changing contact names. maybe he stared at the kitchen as lost as possible until toge was sitting on the counter and guiding him through how much spice to use. maybe he struggled a little too openly on controlling cursed speech just to see toge pull the scarf from his own face and hear his voice.

he wasn’t exactly proud of himself for it, but he figures anyone would be weak if they could see the way toge would blink his long eyelashes and lovely eyes at him. ever so attentive, ever so understanding to his struggles.

in that manner, he also doesn’t notice that toge slowly becoming aware.

there’s only so much someone can insist they need help seasoning cabbage. but still, it’s hard to reconcile that someone like yuuta would want to spend that much time with him.

he’s used to his presence being a dirty secret, a useful foot soldier, a reliable front-runner, the sacrificial pawn if it comes down to it.

useful in battle, unwanted in their society.

so to have someone as kind and devoted as yuuta, insist he needs someone to physically correct his signing, to turn bright red when toge gently moves his hands, to look simultaneously guilty and pleased to have his hands linger.

as if his time, as if his touch, was worth something more. as if he were something to steal away and monopolize for the world. as if toge was someone to want attention from.

when yuuta leaves, toge finds himself waiting to hear a knock on his door, waiting to hear a wavering voice call for his attention.

it doesn’t come.

even when yuuta comes back, it’s not entirely the same.

yuuta has only gotten more confident with time, no longer feels as if he needs inane excuses to ask toge to be with him. even going as far to trap his legs by crossing his own around them, smiling so pleasantly as if he wasn’t holding him captive.

it’s nice, it flusters toge, and he couldn’t be happier that yuuta has finally found his voice. but he also misses the pathetically endearing boy from only a year ago. he misses toge’s own ability to act as a dependable figure.

but, yuuta never seemed to bother to learn how to knot his tie.

toge struggles to do it again, only one arm to properly move and frustrated tears beading in his eyes.

but yuuta acts as his second arm, seamlessly moving under toge’s own touch, staring at him with eyes warm like honey, not looking away for a second from his face.

when it’s done, it’s not as perfect as only a year ago. but yuuta admires it as if a work of art.

“it’s perfect,” he says, even if it’s anything but, and presses his lips to toge’s forehead as if this little act was enough.

as if he was enough.

anyway, i just watched lisa frankenstein so please expect a post about inuokko au very soon because i am so entirely not sane about them crying on my hands and knees

Hinata: Well, you’re right about that, buuut…

Yuuta: What’s with the whispering? Yeah, I do know you two are a bit awkward, but…

I thought you said you’ve been able to sort things out?

Hinata: We have, but your Onii-chan doesn’t quite feel comfortable being alone with just her just yet…

Yuuta: Well either way, it's gonna be just be the two of you get the candid shots done. You're over-thinking it.

Hinata: I have an idea for that, too!

That for the candid shots, maybe I could be doin’ somethin’ alongside you, Yuuta-kun~—

Yuuta: And if I don't wanna?

Hinata: An immediate answer?! You don’t want to be with your Onii-chan that bad, Yuuta-kun?!

More particularly about my candid shot, so I was thinking about what I usually do in my free time.

Sora: For Hina-chan, maybe something like playing a prank?

Hinata: You think so too, Sora-kun? That’s also the first thing that came to my mind…

But that’d make it a candid shot of a prank towards my fans, wouldn’t it~? Even though I loooove pranks…

So I was thinking of something else, like messing around with instruments, but that’s something Yuuta-kun also does.

After worrying about that, I came up with the idea of working in the garden, which is sort of like my recent boom? So I came out here~.

Sora: HiHi~! Sora think’s that’s a good idea!

Sora’s familiar with Hina-chan working in the garden, but those who don’t know about the school farm probably aren’t familiar with that Hina-chan at all~!

Hinata: I do some activities in Gardenia too, but that’s just a dormitory circle.

But, I feel like a photo of someone doing field work is pretty plain~. So I should probably think of something better…

Sora: How about coming to Game Research then? Play some games together with Sora!

Hinata: Oh, that might be good! I haven’t been able to play many games with you lately, Sora-kun. ♪

Hello, hello, have you seen the newest update of JJK? I'm so proud of my best boy, Yuuji....

Can, I ask, why do you think Yuuji is one of the character that is so underated in JJK? He is the mc, but many people (in fandom) treat him like a side character? At first, I don't think so, but I love many shounen, and somehow Yuuji is one of the mc that is underated in their own story....

Sorry if I'm wrong, just I love Yuuji and want him to get the spotlight he deserve....

Sorry it took me so fucking long to reply to this.

If you think that the story doesn’t focus on him enough then I don’t really agree with that but I don’t think it’s wrong of you to feel like that. But I’m not sure this is even what you meant, I just wanted to move this out of the way. And the following paragraphs will explain that a bit. That will be the nice part of this reply.

JJK isn’t a story that mainly follows one character and the plot happens only where that character is. For example, as much as I watched of Demon Slayer (I think up to season 3 and I have no interest in picking it up again ) or read of the Chainsaw Man (first part, I got bored a few chapters into the second), made me think that those stories are too focused on one character. Villains did villain things on the side but the story always came back to the main character and focused on him in the end and plot usually happened where he happened to be, and he was the one to kill the bosses. In JJK even if the story lines feed into each other, they have much more independence and it doesn’t feel that Yuuji is the centre of the universe and the story just waits for him to move. And my personal preference is for the JJK kind of story, as I said CSM and Demon Slayer didn’t manage to hold my interest.

It’s just a matter of preference. And If you’d like the story to be more streamlined around him there’s nothing wrong with that.

That being said, I think that the JJK story still strongly centres around Yuuji.

He’s connected to all the most memorable and important villains of his time (aka those that didn’t die before he became a sorcerer). He’s one of the linchpins of Kenjaku’s plan and the only one of their experiments that they seem attached to, he’s Mahito’s obsession, he’s Sukuna’s nightmare and now also obsession.

Yuuji is also strongly connected to all the major JJK themes: weakness vs strength, human connection vs loneliness, the value of life, bodily autonomy, humanity vs dehumanisation, oppressive systems of power, tradition, gender stereotypes, drive and agency, jujutsu world vs the normie world, family, love and friendship, new vs old.

I think only Kenjaku also really connects to all of these to the same degree as Yuuji does, though some of the other characters are close like Sukuna, Maki or Megumi. Gojou or Nobara aren’t that strongly connected to some of them. And characters like Getou or Yuuta are even more tangentially connected to some of them or not at all. Yuuji really is the one who brings it all together.

Here ends the nice part of this answer. Everything that follows will be rather bitter and unkind towards the JJK fandom. Because I’m really fed up with it as a larger group.

So why does the fandom treat Yuuji like shit? There are a few reasons that can be pointed to and they apply to varying degrees to the behaviour of individual fans.

Part 1 - This fandom is the fucking pits

The fandom in itself is absolute fucking garbage. Like interacting with it will make you lose faith in humanity and give you brain damage.

Casual fans

JJK is a fairly popular title in the west and the fandom is quite big and loud. It’s an ongoing title with a hype anime and there are a lot of casual fans. It’s full of:

People who also like many other things and don’t really follow the story closely and don’t really know the lore.

People who read/watched JJK once and haven’t really taken the time to understand the story and its world.

People who as @/cursedvibes says have issues with object permanence and don’t remember what happened a few chapters earlier, and who feel that if the character isn’t in the frame that means that they are dead and/or forgotten and/or were always irrelevant.

People who don’t really like stories like JJK but have never understood the idea of saying “this is not for me” and moving on. Instead they take it as a personal offence that this popular title doesn’t cater to their specific tastes. And they often have the delusion that their personal taste is the mark of objective quality.

People who only want flashy fights and/or power scaling.

A lot of these people feel that they need to shit out content about JJK on social media because that’ll get them into the trending tags. And since they don’t really have any opinions of their own apart from not being satisfied with JJK they find some cold take that sounds clever to them and regurgitate it over and over again until a new clever-sounding cold take becomes popular, rinse repeat.

Those people should be ignored, blocked or muted. They’re just riding some pathetic bandwagon and clout chasing.

Righteous Haters

The cold takes the casual fans regurgitate usually come from people who just thrive on criticising popular things. Those divide into:

The “Intellectuals” who think they are better than the plebs who like popular things. In their mind popular things can do nothing right and are by default shallow and stupid.

The “Enlightened” who will jump at any opportunity to call something problematic and emerge as the morally pure person.

It’s hard to tell whether these people actually read the story and know it well. Their takes are usually very divorced from the text and I’m always on the fence whether it’s due to genuine lack of reading comprehension or willful misinterpretation.

If you engage with these people they will argue with fucking manga panels, like they will not accept the text even if it’s presented to them. They are honestly a joke. But a lot of them will die on the hill of discrediting Yuuji and spread that opinion around wrapped in pseudointellectual language. Some of them will even put on the airs of academia without knowing how to academia a text in any of the many possible academic analysis ways. Or how to academia about social issues. It’s an intimidation tactic that makes me disrespect them.

Among the JJK enlightened you will find a lot of terfy pseudo feminism. It will be very conservative flavoured and really misogynistic, usually not overtly queerphobic but the vibe will be there, and it will aggressively bring up the general fandom opinion that Gege is a man (which may even be true but Gege doesn’t officially gender themself) to attack and discredit Gege and their work, according to the terfy belief that all men are dangerous and evil. There will also be a lot of intellectualised transphobia especially in relation to Kenjaku, but also Uraume, Tengen and Kirara. And all so funny homophobia about how in their opinion Gege is attracted to their male characters.

The thirsters

JJK surprisingly aggressively caters to the female and queer gaze in ways that most shounen just don’t. I once wanted to make a joke post titled “The Masculine Forearm, the true main character of JJK” just consisting of panel after panel that is angled in such a way to put the skillfully drawn male hands and strong forearms front and centre. (The masculine hand and forearm are often mentioned in relation to the female gaze.)

I gave up, there’s just too many of those, simply look at the covers. It’s really funny because Gege does not hide the forearms of Yuuji or Megumi, but at least in the earlier manga that I analysed from that perspective, the forearm angles of those two are much tamer than for example when Sukuna or Nanami are shown. It almost feels like Gege knows or subconsciously senses that the forearm is thirst, is fanservice, and Gege is very consistent about not sexualising the teenage girls and likely also the boys.

The forearm is of course the tip of the fanservice iceberg. Everything about the JJK men is very that to the point that JJK is widely known for its sexymen. There are people, including fan creators, in the fandom who have never read or watched JJK, they just learned of the sexymen thirsted hard enough to join the fandom.

These are the people who usually won’t actively attack Yuuji, they will just flood the fandom with the posts about their favs and make it seem that few people care for Yuuji.

There are also Yuuji thirsters but there aren't that many of them.

Yuuji is 15 years old in canon and some people just draw a line at thirsting over a character that is underage in canon. And as long as they don’t insult or harass others about that I don’t give a shit what they do.

But also even if Yuuji was of age, Yuuji is not a prime thirst object. He’s for a slightly more refined palette. And he becomes more desirable if you understand his character better.

On the surface Yuuji is a himbo, a dumb jock with a heart of gold and a cute face. There’s no mystique to him, no edge. This view of him is very widespread. For some thirsters that is enough but it’s not a popular thirst worthy type.

There are some thirsters who actually know the source material and know who Yuuji is but those are people who are in the JJK fandom for more than just thirst.

Generally I don’t have a problem with thirsters but the more ignorant ones contribute to the general fandom idea that there’s nothing interesting to Yuuji.

Gojou and SatoSugu fans

I ranted about those people a lot and everything I’ve written about them holds up. A large and loud subset of them will spam all the tags, will create posts that boil down to “JJK is about Gojou (and Getou) actually and everything that happens in JJK is about him (them), regardless if it happens to other characters”. If you don’t actually block them on sight, wading through the main JJK tags is nigh impossible.

Gojou really won the internets and is truly the “strongest” of the JJK sexymen.

The overabundance of content about him exposes a lot of people to the “meta” his fans produce in droves. I put it in quotation marks because fuck, so many of these people are allergic to canon and what they write is deranged fanfiction tagged as meta or discourse. Gojou exists in the western fandom more as headcanon than canon. And to people who aren’t really invested in JJK, he seems like the main and most important character.

There are both shippers, thirsters, casual fans and righteous haters (they hate everything about JJK but Gojou (and Getou) in this group.

And of course they influence the perception of what JJK is, including the perception of Yuuji.

Sukuna fans

There are some of them who will spread takes that reduce Yuuji to Sukuna’s skin suit and will generally treat Yuuji as a function of Sukuna, not a separate character. Interestingly enough, Kusakabe is one of them but he pretends to be a Sukuna hater.

People who think Kusakabe speaks the truth straight from Gege’s brain

Because the reading comprehension in the fandom is very poor, there are people who take whatever Kusakabe says at face value and will ignore everything else that has happened in the manga thus far. They also haven’t picked up on the fact that Kusakabe has always been deeply biassed against Yuuji.

Why is Kusakabe still alive?

And honestly not only Kusakabe, to them any character that discredits Yuuji is always correct and spot on.

Megumi and ItaFushi, SukuFushi fans

There is a subset of those fans that despise Yuuji with a passion. They think that Megumi either should be or is the main character of JJK. They think that Sukuna has been obsessed with Megumi from the start because Megumi is special and has incredible potential. They will pretend that the main JJK storyline revolves around Megumi, they will often ignore Kenjaku completely and pretend they are not the main driver of the story. Because admitting that Kenjaku, not Sukuna was the main villain of the story, would just by itself completely discredit Megumi as the main character, because Megumi barely any connection to Kenjaku, only through Tsumiki and Yorozu, and has only a weak, practical, plot related and not thematic connection to Sukuna. He became Sukuna’s escape plan and a tool to kill Gojou.

He has no connection to any other major villains or antagonists in current day JJK. He’s only connected to Touji and Naoya, but it can be argued that Yuuji had more dealings with Naoya than Megumi.

Yuuji’s connections to Sukuna are:

Practical - being Sukuna’s vessel and cage.

Plot related - he is Kenjaku’s way of controlling Sukuna and being Sukuna’s vessel influences everything about how Yuuji functions in the story and how he relates to other characters.

Emotional - they both harbour strong negative feelings for each other, Sukuna even more than Yuuji.

Familial - they are related. Yuuji doesn’t know and would just likely compartmentalise it. Sukuna pretends he doesn’t care but it’s clear he cares very much actually.

Philosophical - Yuuji by merely being himself challenges Sukuna’s whole worldview.

Thematic - strength vs weakness, sorcerer vs normie, humanity, value of human life, family, love, connection and loneliness, tradition, new vs old, bodily autonomy.

If those Megumi fans are shippers they will often push the dumb himbo stereotype on Yuuji. There are a lot of fics in the ItaFushi and FushiIta tags that will treat Yuuji as the necessary evil but you can really feel that the authors dislike him. Finding fics there from his POV or at least exploring him is a fucking chore. And that is or at least used to be the most popular ship tag for Yuuji. Pages upon pages of stereotyping or downright character assassination working hard to replace the canon Yuuji with the fanon one in the general fandom consciousness.

Part 2 - People say one thing and do/think another

Basically a lot of people are not really self aware or are hypocrites or just repeat things they read and never put any thought into them.

You will see a lot of people criticising shounen tropes. That shounen is formulaic, that the shounen main characters are all the same, that shounen battles are all the same, that shounen main characters are overpowered… and so on and so forth.

Those same people will latch onto Gojou and crown him the main character.

Because faced with Yuuji … they have no fucking clue what to do with Yuuji. They finally got a shounen main character that at first glance might seem like the same old shounen main but very quickly it becomes clear he absolutely isn’t that.

So there are three reactions to that.

Denial

No, Yuuji actually is a stereotypical shounen main. He’s got colourful hair, he’s strong, he fights with his fist, he’s super dumb and kind of a pervert but nice and everyone instantly loves him. He gets power ups and learns everything too easily and too quickly, fights the bosses and breaks the story. And of course he has a sob story and is related to the villain. And his mum has a braid.. She doesn’t, well she does have a ponytail, kinda, in two of her bodies anyway…

And that’s it, there’s all there is to him, there’s nothing more to see.

Faced with canon they will reject all arguments or block you.

Rage

Yuuji is so fucking weak, why is he so weak? Why are there other characters in this story that get focus? Why is everyone more powerful than him? Why doesn’t he power up and destroy all the bosses, what kind of fucking shit is this? Well at least there’s Gojou the fucking GOAT, let’s go the strongest!!!

Gojou died? Why? Didn’t he say he was the strongest? Why the fuck is Yuuji there? What can he even do? He wasn’t powering up and bodying opponents so we didn’t really pay attention to whatever was happening with him. This is some fucking ass pull.

They also can’t accept that the final battle isn’t a one vs one, that there’s actually a plan with many aspects and contingencies. That the characters are trying to be rational about this thing, they aren’t driven by their egos and desire for glory, well apart from two, and they just want to do everything they can to get rid of Sukuna and stop Kenjaku.

This is not acceptable. If it’s not hard hits and energy flashes but plans and strategy then it’s not a real shounen fight. Gojou vs Sukuna was kinda a fight like that, of course Sukuna was not doing it right because he was scheming too much. But it should’ve ended there, Gojou’s energy balls should’ve concluded the manga.

If you try to suggest to them that he’s just a different kind of character and JJK isn’t that kind of shounen and that it's actually okay for it to take a different route, the rage will spill. They will not accept that shounen can be many things but they will complain that all shounens are the same and predictable.

Condescension

Yuuji isn’t what they want him to be and that’s “objectively” bad writing. That’s it. They will actually list how Yuuji should’ve been written but more importantly how everything should’ve been written and generally Yuuji should’ve never been put forward as the main character because he really doesn’t make sense as one. Gege is just a bad writer and it’s all mid and doesn’t make sense.

What’s even the point? Is there even a story in JJK, what is it even about? The magic system surely doesn’t make any sense, who even understands that? Everyone who says they understand is lying.

Sure, there were some interesting parts in it, so people got hyped, like the Hidden Inventory arc and Shibuya but only until Gojou got sealed, everything after that is just boring and awful and did I mention bad writing?

And all those deaths of fandom sweethearts, pointless. Either they are just for shock value because there was nothing absolutely nothing in the writing that suggested that they might die, od Gege just being mean to the fandom and hating their own characters and Gege should honestly *insert violent ideation*. Or the deaths are too predictable, generally everything is so predictable in JJK, and stereotypical.

Why do people even care or like it, they are objectively wrong if they do. Because hello the writing is so fucking bad, people have no fucking taste honestly. Who even reads that shit anymore?

Why are those people still in the fandom? Fuck knows.. They will spam the tags though, incessantly. The world must know how much they are better than JJK, Gege and those losers who have anything positive to say about JJK.

Honestly there is no winning with any of these people. What they claim they want is not what they are ready to embrace or even tolerate. They can’t also accept that maybe JJK just isn’t for them. There must be something wrong with JJK and with Gege because their tastes are universal and objective.

Part 3 - JJK may be a shounen but Yuuji is a shoujo main character

I’ve written about it before (some of it is a bit outdated now due to what was revealed in the manga) but I will always stand by this. Because it really explains everything.

Yuuji isn’t a typical shounen protagonist but if you look at shoujo protagonists you’ll see his type of protagonist. He is of course a mix of both and in the recent chapters he’s leaning a little more shounen but not too much.

He’s not indulging Sukuna, look how little he even speaks in this fight. He’s not revelling in this fight like Gojou had because he’s not fighting for himself. The outcome, not the fight matters. He’s still not ego driven, still two of his win conditions apart from his fighting abilities are his personality and strength of convictions that so deeply unsettle and upset Sukuna.

Recently everyone in the story, apart from Chousou, Higuruma and Toudou puts Yuuji down, discredits all his accomplishments. He even is starting to believe it. Sukuna is continuing to take everyone away from him. And yet Yuuji is still fighting because this is not about his ego. This is about removing the threat that is Sukuna and hopefully saving Megumi. He really puts himself last and isn’t even given the space to feel bad. All of this will just be there to crush him later.

And the fandom just takes every single insult hurled at Yuuji by the other characters at face value, as if the jujutsu world hasn’t always been hostile to him, treated him as less than human. As if those characters were impartial and haven’t been showing their bias towards Yuuji. They don't pick up on the fact that the jujutsu world is rotten to its core and Gege has consistently used the story to question the values of that world.

So lastly the fandom can’t stomach that Yuuji isn’t 100% stereotypically masculine, that his arc isn’t an alpha male power fantasy. That he isn’t written to perfectly embody the conservative gender norms. This is what the weakness accusation is all about, even if the people hurling it would swear up and down that they aren’t misogynists. Because Yuuji isn’t only accused of losing but also of crying, of breaking down, of being scared. This slight proximity to what is considered stereotypically feminine is a vice. One that for many discredits him completely, makes him not worthy of being the main character.

And if you think that I’m reaching with this… It’s a pattern that repeats itself in the fandom. You will see criticism of the JJK girls for not being soft enough, girly enough. Any proximity for masculinity will be zeroed in on and criticised under the guise of “feminism” with the terfy sentiment that female characters can’t be girly anymore. But girly characters like Hana or Yorozu will be hated for their proximity to stereotypical femininity because that’s considered feeble and shallow and unworthy. And just look how the fandom reacted to Megumi having an ugly and hysterical mental breakdown. To him showing weakness and not manning up. To him showing his emotions in such a visceral way.

These are the three main reasons why I think Yuuji is so underrated and why so many people will go to great lengths to just shit on him.

A/N: Thank you for requesting this. I love cuddles with Yuta, he’s just so sweet. I couldn’t help but use the dragon prince as the show they watch while cuddling because it’s one of my favorites right now and if you’ve watched you should understand my comparisons, if you haven’t watched it I highly recommend, it has such diversity and has the same feel as Avatar the Last Airbender, plus there are a bunch of easter eggs for atla because one of the creators was also a writer and producer on Avatar. Dating Yuta has been a dream come true. He is the sweetest guy I have ever met and it feels like he understands me better than anyone. It’s almost like he can sense when I’m having a bad day because today he suggested that we skip hanging out with our friends to just stay in and watch one of my favorite shows. So, that's exactly what we are doing right now, we’er cuddled up on my bed with a bowl of skittles on my lap watching The Dragon Prince on netflix.

I just really enjoy laying with him and commenting on the little jokes each character makes or judging Viren for being a horrible father. We also like to try and figure out which character reminds us of each other and our friends, that’s the current debate we are having.

“There is no way Toge is Claudia, if anything he’s Zym. Because one, he can’t talk, and two he likes to cause trouble. I don’t think any of our friends are evil enough to be Claudia.” I said completely flabbergasted that he would insinuate that our best friend would be able to do such horrid things to people and animals.

He laughed and said “I wasn’t saying that because I think he’s evil or something, I was saying it because in the first few seasons Claudia is a complete dork, yeah she sucks for doing dark magic but she does dumb stuff as well. Anyway, now that we have Inumaki picked, who would Maki be? I personally think Rayla is an exact copy of her; they would both roll their eyes and slap someone for being an idiot.”

I chuckled at his defense, “I completely agree. Maki is also too stubborn to ask for help when she really needs it. Panda is Ezran, I will not accept any argument, he understands Toge and encourages his dumb behaviors.” I started with no room for argument. “Also you are Soren, don't try to fight it, that's my final decision and I'm sticking to it.”

“W-what how am I Soren?” My boyfriend looked at me obviously confused by my statement. “I’m not disagreeing, I’m just curious why you think that.”

“Well for one you both use swords to fight. But most importantly, you are both extremely kind in spite of the fact you have both been through a lot. Soren spent years being gaslite by his father into doing horrible things, and when he tried to make his sister see it she also tried to gaslight him. Once he finally realized his family was doing horrible things he made the hard choice to leave them and change for the better. Now I’m not saying you have the same past but I know you struggled and suffered for a while. Having Rika lash out everytime something even came close to threatening you and not understanding it had to have been difficult, but instead of giving up, you decided to keep fighting and try and make it so no one else has to go through what you did.” I pointed out the major similarities between the two swordsmen. “Also I think you are both adorable.”

He just watched amazed by my reasoning, thinking I was just gonna say it was because they both use swords and are dorks, but no it was like I had thought about this alot. “I-i- Wow, you’ve thought about that a lot haven’t you?” he asked with a light blush.

I smiled up at him. “ Yeah I have, you have been through a lot and I'm proud of you for it. Now the most important question, what character am I?” I asked, trying to see his brain work.

“Oh definitely Bait.” He said confidently as I looked at him in shock.

“Excuse me, I just gave a college dissertation level speech on why I think you are a handsome swordsman, and all I get is a toad.” I said sitting up and turning to fully face him.

“Well yeah you are both adorable when you’re grumpy, both love shiny things, and you have a massive sweet tooth.” He said, defending his choice, reaching to try and pull back to lay with him. I begrudgingly layed back down resting my head on his chest, I felt his arm wrap around my shoulders as he placed a kiss to the top of my head. “Now shush, one of your favorite moments is coming up.”

I just nodded and snuggled closer to his side as I turned to watch as general Amya accidentally ruined her own engagement. I always find it funny, like yeah I get wanting to propose in a flashy way but seriously. Amya is a high ranked general who doesn't seem like someone who enjoys random surprises, what else would you expect to happen ambushing her with what look like flaming whips. I chuckled at the scene before closing my eyes, just enjoying the time I get to spend cuddling Yuta. I whispered a quiet “I Love you” as I drifted off to sleep.

Right as I let sleep take over, I heard Yuta respond with his “I love you too” before we both feel asleep to the sounds of dragons, elves, and magic.

Yuuta and (Y/N) had just finished a job with Inumaki and were currently waiting for him outside of a convenience store while he got his throat medicine. Since the two had their conversation a couple weeks ago, they have been getting closer and more open with each other. Toge noticed and thought it was quite cute, (Y/N) also noticed how the pair had also been getting closer since their last mission. She also thought it was cute.

She saw Yuuta fidgeting and knew that he was going to ask something that he felt was an invasion of privacy, though it hardly was.

“Um Kamo-”

“(Y/N), ‘kkotsu,” she interrupted.

“(Y/N)-san, how do you know Gojo-sensei outside of school?” She looked at him as she tilted her head to the side.

“What do you mean?”

“I know you’ve told me a little bit about how he was the one who raised you, but how did that happen? Why did it happen?” (Y/N) finds it amusing how quickly he became comfortable enough to ask personal questions without stuttering. She smiled at him and hummed.

“Well technically we first met when I was one, but I don’t remember that for obvious reasons. He said it was boring since I couldn’t talk yet. Our parents made a deal that I would basically be his puppet if the time ever came he would need support or something like that. I don’t know the details of it and I don’t care all that much since I know he wouldn’t put me in that position without asking me.”

“Satoru-kun, why don’t you spend some time with Kamo-kun while we grownups talk?” Satoru knew that he shouldn’t say anything and just go along with it, but that didn’t stop him from making a rude remark to his mom; being the chosen one had its perks.

“So, you’re how old?” No response. Just the baby babble and the smashing of toys.

“What’s your name?” Again, no response.

“Do you know how to do anything?” At that the child stood up and took a couple shaky steps before falling and laughing, she was clearly proud of herself.

“You’re not interesting.” The young girl huffed and went back to her blocks and all Satoru could do was stare at her. Semi entertained.

“So you’ve known him almost your whole life?”

“Yeah pretty much!” The pair saw Inumaki exit the store and he quickly met the two out front and began the walk back to the school since it wasn’t that far away.

“Any more questions?” Yuuta looked lost in thought and then looked back at her.

“(Y/N)-san, what was it like growing up with Sensei?” (Y/N) laughed a little at that.

“He’s one of the loudest people I know, he was there for all my school stuff, he got banned from my school at one point because he and my brother were caught threatening a kid for making fun of me. They would walk me to and from school and Sho-nee was the only one allowed to get me from school if Yaga-san wasn’t available. It was annoying but a lot of fun too.”

As the young girl walked through the barrier of the school she wanted to go straight to her room and not come out. Unfortunately Suguru knew something was wrong the whole walk home.

“(Y/N), would you like to talk about how her school day was,” he asked. She shook her head. Her frown practically a permanent feature on her face. He grabbed her hand a little tighter.

“How about we make cookies?” He laughed at how bright her eyes became and (Y/N) practically sprinted to the kitchen. He called Satoru and told him to head to the kitchen once he’s done with his meeting with the elders. It’s comical how quickly he showed up after that.

“(Y/N), how was school?” Satoru really needed to learn how to read the room a little better. (Y/N) frowned and then her eyes got watery.

“Today was bring your mom to school day.” The other two looked at each other with wide eyes, holding a conversation with no words and only glances.

“How was it?”

“Awkward. Some of the mom’s asked questions, but they were pretty nice to me after I told them she died,” she said, “But a couple of the kids made fun of me and the moms looked at me weird, I didn’t like it at all and it made me feel sad. One boy said that I can’t have a family and when I tried to tell him I did he just yelled over me!” Satoru and Suguru could tell she wasn’t going to feel better soon, but they would do all they could until she did.

“We’ll walk you to school tomorrow, okay?” She nodded her head as she watched the cookies bake in the oven. They took silly pictures and watched a silly movie.

The next day the three of them made sure to leave a little early to talk with the school and with the boy. The boys went to deal with the insolent child.

“(Y/N), who’s the boy who made you feel bad?” She pointed to a boy with the ugliest fucking haircut and they stalked up to him and started bareting him.

“Who do you think you are talking to her like that?”

“How dare you say she doesn’t have a family?”

“Do I need to talk to your mother?”

“You ever do it again, we'll take your cat!”

“Satoru, too far,” Suguru whispered before saying, “we’ll burn your house to the ground instead. After making sure your cat isn’t inside.”

“U-Uh I don’ have a cat.”

“What the hell is wrong with you?”

“What, do you like dogs more?” The boy shakily nodded his head.

“What are you, a psycho? We should take your dog!”

“Suguru, too far,” Satoru whispered before telling the boy if he ever pulled a stunt like that again he would track him down and eat his bed.

“Satoru, what is with you and eating things?”

“Don’t ques-”

“Gojo-san, Geto-san, what are you doing to that poor boy?”

In the end Shoko had to come to the school and bail them both out of trouble, but not before it was stated that they could never step foot on the school grounds again.

(Y/N) was so embarrassed, but happy when she found out. Satoru bought her a phone so she could call them if something happened again, Suguru bought her charms for it and they spent the afternoon bedazzling it while sitting in the corner of Shoko’s room while she got ready for her “hangout” with Utahime.

“Your brother?” (Y/N) looked straight ahead and she felt Inumaki nudging her arm with his shoulder.

“Did I ask something I shouldn’t have?”

“No, you didn’t. It’s just a sore subject, maybe not the best one for right now.” Yuuta looked at her and saw the sad smile on her face.

As they entered the school grounds, Yuuta noticed how (Y/N) avoided walking across a couple cracks in the ground. Upon closer inspection he also saw that the concrete was slightly uneven and had splotches of discoloration surrounding it. They were only slightly darker than the rest of the ground, small weeds growing through.

Just when he was about to ask about why it wasn’t as pristine as the rest of the school, Inumaki bumped shoulders with him and shook his head.

‘Not a good time, maybe later,’ the boy signed.

─── ⋆⋅August 2006⋅⋆ ──

(Y/N) had been hanging out with Yaga learning more about how cursed energy flows when she got a text from Satoru letting her know that they just left the airport and would be home soon. Of course she had been planning on meeting everyone at the barrier, but Yaga had wanted to finish more of the lesson before she went to go goof off with her “bestest-not-brother-brothers” for the rest of the day. Yaga had a sneaking suspicion that (Y/N) saw Satoru more as a father and Satoru saw her as his daughter no matter how much he tried to deny it. Especially after what happened with her mother. It had been a while since the two of them had been away from each other for that long, even though it had only been two days, and called each other regularly and texted frequently. After Yaga decided that she had done enough of the lesson he let her go run off.

(Y/N) was extremely excited to see her brothers after the two days apart, nearly three! There was also a very pretty girl who she spoke to on the phone named Amanai. She was also excited to meet her. Though from what her brothers had told her they could only meet for a minute or two since she was supposed to meet and ‘assimilate with Tegen-sama’ whoever and whatever that was.

When (Y/N) arrived at the entrance of the school she hadn’t been prepared for what she saw. Her doting brother was lying in a pool of his blood as a dark haired man stood over him. The man began to walk away, towards her. Well towards Tegen-sama and the Plasma Star Vessel - Amanai - but she didn’t know that at the time. What she did know was that she was scared. (Y/N) was scared that she was going to die and this time no one would be able to save her from death like they had from her mother.

Before she knew what was happening, a blade made its way just under her collarbone and a scream ripped its way from her throat. She didn’t remember seeing the man move, let alone that quickly, but she did remember his face. A scar across his bottom lip, bright green eyes.All (Y/N) could think is how much the man looked like her mother as he threw her towards her future guardian, her protector.

She could feel the blood leaving her body and that terrified her, but that’s not what scared her the most. What scared her was that she couldn’t feel Satoru. She had never been able to describe it all that well, mainly because she didn’t fully understand what ‘it’ was, but she always knew if he was close. She could hear his heartbeat and feel his blood move. But now she couldn’t feel either. She felt nothing from him and she couldn’t help but sob. She sobbed for what felt like forever to the poor girl as she wished all the blood would go away, that all the blood would return to where it was supposed to be.

“Toru-nii please! Please wake up!” (Y/N) repeated this over and over as she clung to him like a lifeline, ignoring the pain wracking her small body, like he would come back to her. Her throat had become raw and her voice became hoarse, but she didn’t stop. She couldn’t stop until he came back to her. (Y/N) could feel her consciousness starting to drift away. Her body was tired from crying, loss of blood, and loss of energy. As she began to lose hope for Satoru to wake up, she voiced two final sentences.

“Dad please don’t leave me, you promised! You promised to stay with me!” Her blood mixed with his until there was no separating them and she began to feel her cries be answered. She could feel Satoru again. (Y/N) could feel one of the most important people in her life had begun to wake up. She felt his arms move to hold her and she felt as if everything would be okay again. Her tears had stained their clothes and she could feel the snot from her nose move its way into her mouth and it bothered her immensely, but she would rather deal with it than to let go of Satoru.

“I’m here, (Y/N). Toru-nii’s here… your dad’s here,” Satoru said these words in a mantra until the young girl began to loosen her hold on him enough for him to look at her. He saw blood coating the left part of her chest and in the back of his mind he could tell that it wasn’t his blood. That thought alone was more than enough to send him into a panic. He saw the stab wound and placed his hand over it and pulled her closer to his chest, pressing a soft kiss on to her temple.

“I’m sorry for scaring you like that. I won’t do it again. Big Bro-dads shouldn’t go back on their promises.” (Y/N) looked him in the eyes and furrowed her brow.

“Wha’s a bro-dad?” Satoru laughed a small, quiet laugh at the tired girl. Nothing like his usual one.

“Me of course! I’m your bestest big brother and I’m going to be your legal parent when I’m legally allowed, so you can’t go away now, at least not when we’re so close to finally saving each other!” (Y/N) smiled at him and rested her head against him.

“You’re the best bro-dad ever, Toru-nii.” And all Satoru could do was pull his little girl as close as he possibly could without hurting her and promise to himself that he would try his damn hardest not to scare her like that again.

─── ⋆⋅ November 2016 ⋅⋆ ──

Once they reach the main training grounds, they see Gojo helping to train the other first years when he got a phone call.

“Hello? Ah yes, this is his guardian… another one? Yes, I'll be there shortly.” (Y/N) let out a small snort and pulled out her phone, sending a quick text.

“Do you want me to go get him, Gojo,” she asked. He looked at her through his bandages and smiled.

“I’m sure Megumi-chan would love that!” She smiled and looked over at Yuuta.

“Would you like to come with me?” The boy in question tilted his head to the side.

“Where are we going?”

“To go get a little crotch goblin,” she replied.

“... Huh?”
