one of my favourite scenes in endeavour that i don't see talked about much is the one in 7x03 (Zenana) when morse tells bright that his wife was murdered. it's too long to gif and gifs wouldn't do the scene justice anyway.

morse has clearly spent all night trying to piece together all the unusual deaths and has realised it's ludo and violetta, he's still wearing the same clothes, he's dishevelled and it doesn't seem like he's slept. at this point his relationship with fred is so broken but morse still goes to him to try and make him understand. then bright comes in and thursday is desperately trying to stop morse from saying anything but morse carries on anyway. the way bright looks at fred in such a bewildered way, the desperation from all 3 of them. morse trying to get people to listen to him but doing it so badly, fred trying to protect bright and bright's anger. the acting!!!

i think morse is feeling incredibly guilty for not discovering ludo's crimes sooner which is why he goes in all guns blazing. he's probably already feeling guilt for the breakdown in his relationship with thursday, jim has just been stabbed after morse told him to go to that location, bright's wife has been killed, he's been kicked out of the station. as he writes in his letter to joan, he's just burned all his bridges and this (and eventually violetta's death) is the cause of his drinking and downward spiral in the next series.

hi it's the good omens mascot here's some shit about me that might be relevant

I appear to have accidentally caused chaos so I figured you might as well know about me since I'm responsible for it. And also so that you know who you broke, thanks ineffable fandom.

I have been called the prophet by some of you all. This is not entirely untrue, but I would like to add as I did in one post, that Apollo also gave me the curses of art, (very emotional) music, (sometimes good mostly dreadful) poetry, (same parentheses apply, except that the dreadful is on purpose) writing and (used to be good now dreadful) medical knowledge, and so yes, you did accidently adopt a messenger of an ancient Greek god.

Yes, this entire entry into your cult happened from start to now happened in 48 hours.

This will seem less bizarre when I give you context about me and fandoms. I changed career paths (after three years of intense study that cost me my sanity) from science to the arts because I was inspired by drarry fanfiction of them leaving their ministry jobs and following their dreams. Yes I tossed three years and my loss of sanity away in one week of decisions. I'm now a designer. Thanks Draco.

I read so much drarry fanfiction that my mum had to take me to the hospital for injured wrists. I wore wrist and elbow supports and was in constant pain for a few months. I was only later introduced to autoscroll. Yes, I am a fool. Yes, I am unaware of how to human.

I'm broke and cheap enough that I feel guilty buying bottled water, but for Christmas I spent the equivalent of around 150 bottles of water getting a Bakewell tart custom made (they don't sell them where I live). Why? Because in one single fanfiction, it is Draco's favourite food. I would never spend that kind of money on a dessert for any real human being.

That is to say, you all are not ready for when I REALLY fall for Crowley. I don't saunter vaguely downwards for people. I bypass earth and crash into hell, leaving a smoking pit in its infernal ground.

I swear I'm not as dumb as I seem, I just have ZERO general knowledge, and am terrible with faces. I can tell you what the graffiti on the walls of Pompeii from before 70 AD said but I don't know who my previous president was, and personally I think that's very classy of me.

Some of you seem concerned about my sleep schedule. Worry not, I sleep in four installments, night, morning nap, afternoon nap, evening nap. I sleep more than you all, that I can promise. I sleep more than my doggy sister.

About the streams and the timezones, I have no idea how to make it so people can watch, because I frequently mix up east and west and last morning I mixed up the Pacific and Atlantic ocean. I don't know at what point the Eastern hemisphere becomes the Western or how any of it works. I also thought Wakanda was a real place.

But hey fun fact, in 2020 diclofenac sales were dropping in Iceland. I know this because I wanted to make sure to use the correct painkiller in one sentence of a story I was writing. It was completely irrelevant. But hey any of you writers here probably feel my pain. I don't write fanfiction, but I am an author and I write original stories. And honestly what is more useful, Icelandic diclofenac sales from three years ago or timezones?

ACOTAR and TOG males in Corsets/Vests (Headcanons)

The High Lords of Prythian + 2 more ACOTAR males and then Rowan and Fenrys from TOG.

I think my self control just went down the hill because now I'm on pinterest looking at men in corsets and imagining which acotar/tog male would wear which. As well as vests (I have an addiction). So far I've come to the following conclusions: (doesn't include cass and az because I literally only see them wearing leathers/more formal leathers, not really a corset/vest. MAYBE az, but only for eris.)

If you want to see my lack of self control, feel free to look lol

Rhysand:

Would be so good looking in a corset. (However, Lucien, Thesan and Tarquin would be slightly better). However, I have to say that he'd probably be better looking in a vest than a corset 🫣 The purple one would match his eyes and well... his eyes happen to be one of my favorite physical characteristics of him.

THIS male. Oh lordy. He'd ROCK a corset like none other and honestly, he's never going to wear a vest. I don't see him doing it. He'd wear the traditional Day Court robes but then he'd one day just walk out in the gold chains (far right) and everyone would not be able to take their eyes off him. And the gold?? The gold fits too well with his dark skin. I am UNWELL.

Lucien Vanserra:

I am panting after this male so badly. He would be the best looking in a corset, absolutely no competition. He would have everyone drooling over him and THEN he'd just pop out in a vest and it'd be the same. He looks way too good in either. He looks good in like every court's style too! I just can't with him. I could put him in any of the corsets on this post and he'd look FABULOUS.

Thesan:

Would absolutely have his lover panting after him in either a corset or vest. I like to imagine Dawn Court fashion with like soft yellows and oranges along with creams and browns?? I think that the first corset fits the best into that. But do I really need to say more? With his skin tone (a more asian one, darker. definitely not white at all) he would look HEAVENLY.

Would look best in a vest, BUT if anyone is going to look ANY good in a dark blue/white corset, it's definitely Kallias. Now, the middle one wouldn't be paired with black of course, but he'd look DAMN GOOD in it. Am I going insane? Probably.

Tarquin:

This male would canonically wear corsets daily. The vest just doesn't do it for him. Sure, he looks amazing but it's also too warm in Summer to wear it! He'd be wearing the corset with nothing under it (or for court proceedings, a white dress shirt) but literally- he'd look so hot. Thus far, the rankings for corsets are: Lucien, Tarquin, Thesan, Helion and then Rhys. Everyone else is irrelevant.

Eris Vanserra:

We are going to skip Beron, I'm sorry. If you can't tell by the number of times I've ruthlessly had Beron killed in my fics, then you should know I hate him.

So, Eris Vanserra, High Lord of the Autumn Court is definitely someone who I'd rather see in a vest. But a corset? If he finds the right one, he'd look damn good. Just like his little brother. Though, I feel like he'd be so tired after ruling Autumn that he'd wear it mostly to help his posture lol

However, when he's not tired and wears a vest, he'd look like a god incarnate and I'd get down on my knees to worship the ground he walks on.

We believe in Tamlin in vests around these parts. (and forgiveness, but that's not what these weird headcanons are about) He'd be drool worthy. His hair?? PERFECT to match the first vest or the corset. I swear, he'd look so good that I'd be panting if he walked by me.

Rowan Whitethorn:

Rowan? Rowan would wear a corset and have Aelin panting after him the entire day and absolutely nobody would be able to focus that day. Like literally, if you even get a glance, your mind is BROKEN. I would personally just get down on my knees and beg. I don't know about you guys, but if I imagine his tattoo as well, it only serves to make it worse. And a vest?? If you imagine the right with the green and then a more silver color... yeah, I think you get the point. Rowan is drool worthy ALWAYS.

Fenrys Moonbeam

Do I really even need to say anything?? DO I? Fenrys. Corset. I am melting. He could fit into so many colors and styles and look amazing? I'm not even going to provide a vest picture because any fancy ones that I look up would automatically look good on him. His onyx dark eyes just make it easier!!

@grapesnolives thank you for the link, I'll check it out during the weekend. I agree that their experimentation is always beautiful and fascinating to hear. They had singular sensitivity to the emotion – sound axis. And you can never be bored with it.

I've moved us to a new post, since our conversation is veering off the topic of the original post and I think we've hijacked enough of that already ;)

Unfortunately, I don't have the source for that quote about Robert, as I have been consuming a lot (and I mean A LOT) about LZ in the past few months, but in quite a chaotic manner and I haven't been taking notes. But If I come across it again, I'll send it to you. I was also surprised by it, but I guess it makes sense, since it was originally Jimmy's band and I believe that as time went by and Jimmy was losing his grip on reality more and more, Robert might have felt constricted a bit or started to develop a need for more independence. Nothing unusual in that, it happens in pretty much any band. He might have also been genuinely annoyed at the endless solos, quite like Bonzo, and JPJ probably too. I mean, to make a six and a half minutes long song into 45 minutes is both amazing and unnecessary lol. And Robert did have a bit of an imposter syndrome, still has, actually. He often spoke about them as 'three musicians and me'. 'I'm just a wedding singer who sang with musicians', and how his elaborate singing style developed as a method to stay in the song, cause the long musical intervals made him feel irrelevant. He definitely wanted to impress Jimmy and there was a lot of reverence for him as the worldly, knowledgeable, experienced musician who created his own band. But that began to disappear when Jimmy got heavily into heroin imo and definitely lost after 1977. Robert's priorities changed. His view of life changed. The love was still there, but Jimmy was no longer someone that Robert had to live up to, so to speak. Now he was someone to protect (and, in a way, someone to mourn). But the initial experiences formed Robert as a singer, set his standards and informed his view of musical expression.

I've also noticed that he makes fun of Bonzo (the diarrhea jokes will live with me forever, thanks Bob :/ ) and JPJ (and himself, occasionally), but not of Jimmy. IMO that's because he and Bonzo were 'bros', mates, and that's typical friendly behaviour in this kind of relation. JPJ was also a guy in the band and concert is entertainment, so it's only fair to make people laugh. It created a sense of dynamics, each band member had his quirks and image to play with. But with Jimmy he is only ever sweet and attentive. Not least because Jimmy Page can't take a joke imo. He's quite fragile and Robert knew it very, very well. But this doesn't read to me as reverential, but rather as caring. He knew not to make Jimmy the centre of attention that he might not see as entirely friendly. And his mysterious image had to be uphold too. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but whenever Robert speaks to Jimmy his tone of voice slightly changes. It becomes softer and warmer. ‘is it alright, love?’ kind of thing. He definitely wanted to be in Jimmy’s good books and for more than one reason.

I’m not surprised you thought they were a duet, seeing the photos. I recall seeing photos of LZ throughout my life and they’ve always been focused on J and R. I didn’t know what the other band members looked like before I started listening to the band. I knew Bonzo’s name because of his tragic death, like I do many other musicians’ who met their ends way too early, and knew that he is recognised as one of the, if not the greatest rock drummer of all times. But that was about it. IMO, he is the greatest of them all and he’s the only one whose drumming makes me genuinely tear up. There is as much emotion in Bonzo’s drumming as there is in Robert’s singing. Astonishing.

If you’re asking how I got into the story of J and R, it was quite simple really. I remembered the photos I’ve mentioned (mostly the WLL mic in the hair singing) which have always looked very suggestive to me and had heard before that part of the magic of LZ was the interplay between the two, and so when I finally got into their music I started doing my research to see if my initial impression was correct. And found plenty of evidence to confirm it, some of it much more straightforward then expected. But if you’re asking how I got into LZ then I’d say it was time for them to come into my life. One night on YT they appeared on my list and the journey began. I knew some of their songs before (STH, WLL, Dazed, a couple of others) and I had quite an emotional experience listening to Stairway as a young teenager, but that was the extent of it. I firmly believe that music comes to us at the right time and there’s no point in forcing it. It will find you if it’s meant to. And it will be a journey you’ll never forget.

Thinking about how in seasons 1 to 3 it was common to not just see Tom and Greg in the background or Tom and Shiv in the background but Tom, Greg and Shiv, talking sometimes laughing in the background (when I say common it probably about about 3 times idk) and thinking about when Tom and Shiv teased Greg about the Contessa, but fondly, I’m not implying that Greg and Shiv were close or anything, because obviously they weren’t, but there was some minimal fondness there I think, Shiv probably found Greg somewhat amusing in a dorky distant relative way, also Greg being the closest to Shiv’s age, might mean that they spent slightly more time together as kids even if it was minimal, I know this is just a fan theory or whatever but it is somewhat supported by Shiv being the one to actually remember Greg’s name in the pilot.

In terms of Greg, Kendall was clearly his favourite cousin for a while, he had some admiration for him before he was disillusioned from him and was seeking his friendship, partly for power but I think partly because he generally liked him, probably seeking an older brother figure as he is clearly lonely and hasn’t got many close relatives that he speaks to on the regular. He’s disliked Roman since about mid season one, he tolerates Connor, of course, who has probably always been the nicest to him even when Kendall and Greg were close, but he didn’t seem to like Connor that much, probably because he had no power and is very unserious (obviously a bit hypocritical of clown shoes Greg but still) so after Ken threatening to burn him and his big fall out with him at Kenfest (I still think he liked Ken before the “burning threat” even though he switched sides, I think he lost respect for him but liked him as a person still, until the threat of burning on the day of the shareholders meeting) So he actively disliked Ken and Roman at the point of Caroline’s wedding, and as he seems quite indifferent to Connor, it’s very possible that Shiv was his favourite cousin by default, yes he was mainly trying to get Tom’s attention when he was talking to both of them at the wedding, but he definitely seemed comfortable and friendly around Shiv and vice versa.

Then Tom’s betrayal happened followed by Tom and Shiv’s separation. But of course Greg didn’t actually have anything to do with the siblings downfall, he just benefited from it, except actually he didn’t really, at least not yet (obviously he likely won’t benefit at all now Logan’s dead, but this is irrelevant to my post because I’m going to be talking about Shiv’s attitude towards Greg at the wedding before Logan died) Tom didn’t even tell Greg what he was planning to do, he just vaguely asked him to come with him. Of course considering that it seems that Tom and Shiv haven’t spoken much about what happened, Shiv wouldn’t know how much Greg knew about the betrayal, but she knows Greg has very little power, and thinks rightly or wrongly that he is a bumbling idiot, and wouldn’t of been able to help or hinder with it either way, so if you look at it objectively Shiv hasn’t got any reason to hate Greg in terms of business, it’s important to remember though that Kendall has got a reason to hate Greg in the “business sense” because Greg actually betrayed him at an earlier point via switching sides. Again I want to elaborate that Greg was yet to benefit very much from Tom’s betrayal of Shiv, he still isn’t much more then a glorified PA to Tom.

Perhaps because of this not even Roman seems to hold much contempt for Greg, his teasing of Greg when he was talking to the journalist woman, wasn’t particularly mean spirited for Roman, he was just being Roman, hell it’s something that he might of said to Connor or Kendall in the right circumstances, I actually think Roman likes Greg more the Greg likes Roman (he still doesn’t like him tho) and he certainly doesn’t dislike Greg as much as Shiv seems to now, in fact she seems to dislike him even more then Kendall, in fact at this point Kendall might be too indifferent to Greg to even dislike him anymore, he seemed to be somewhat amused by Greg’s desperation while trying to congratulate them on the pierce deal. Kendall says “Pass” and Shiv says “No” when Greg attempts to interact with them. That is pretty much what I’d expect from either of them, Greg is being quite irritating and he is not subtle about his schmoozing up to them in case things go tits up for him with Logan and Tom.

But then Greg touches Shiv’s shoulder (perhaps he goes for Shiv rather then Kendall because he, clearly very wrongly, assumed that he was on better terms with her then he was with Ken) it wasn’t Greg being overly affectionate like he has been with his cousins in the past, it was a simple shoulder touch, that’s perfectly acceptable between friendly acquaintances, let alone cousins who were on good terms until recently, even though they weren’t particularly close. It wasn’t necessarily the fact that Shiv’s reaction to this was to say “Don’t touch me” it was the way she said it, ice cold with complete and utter contempt.

It’s completely understandable that Shiv would be highly irritated by Greg and even dislike him, but she seems to fully hate him, when Roman and Kendall seem not to. Why would she have more reason to hate Greg then Kendall and Roman? The answer is obvious, of course, It’s two things Tom and jealously.

I’m not for one moment suggesting that Shiv believes that there is anything romantic going on between Tom and Greg. Whether you believe Tomgreg is a thing or not, that’s not the point, Shiv has no suspicions in that department. And although there’s been a lot of jokes about her not perceiving it on here, honestly why would she? Most of Tom and Greg’s most intense scenes are done in private, and anything she would see could and obviously would be interpreted as entirely platonic, why would any woman assume their husband was sexually and/or romantically obsessed with their weird younger male cousin? No I don’t think Shiv has any suspicion in that department. Then why would she be jealous I hear you ask? Well there’s two potential reasons:

Reason 1: Shiv and Tom had an open relationship at Shiv’s behest, where Shiv was the only one that slept with other people, obviously the fact that Tom remained monogamous obviously made Shiv feel guilty, which is probably why she suggested the threesome to relieve some of the guilt. Despite her guilt, it’s pretty clear that ultimately she was pleased that Tom remained loyal to her (at least sexually) which was obvious by how she got jealous of the woman at Argestes. It’s established that Tom and Shiv had being going through a “trial of separation” from the return from Tuscany until the end of episode one when they decided to get a divorce, and from what Tom said while they were discussing Naomi, they agreed that they could both see other people in that time. Now this is pure speculation, but considering that Tom remained monogamous when she was in the wrong (cheating on him) she may of assumed that he would also remain monogamous while he was in the wrong (betraying her to Logan) but of course, she then started to hear rumours of “the disgusting brothers” and of how Tom was dating models now. Of course we do not know how much sex (if any) Tom has been having, but the point is Shiv clearly believed he had been sexually active. Perhaps the only way she could rationalise Tom sleeping with other woman while they remained married (no matter what they agreed on) was that he was led astray by Greg and that Greg has been a corrupting influence to Tom and encouraged him to sleep with other woman and if not for Greg, that Tom would’ve remained sexually loyal to her.

Reason 2 and perhaps the more compelling reason: Shiv’s jealously is not of a sexual nature and not about other women. But that Tom was her friend as well her husband and a massive emotional support for her. She has now effectively lost that friendship and emotional support (remember I am referring only to before Logan’s death, Tom was very supportive to Shiv at the time of Logan’s death but before that the last mayor interaction they had, was Shiv finding out that Tom was using Logan esque tactics to divorce her in the most brutal way possible) And by now Shiv would’ve finally realised how close Tom and Greg are as friends (before the Tomshiv betrayal she knew Tom and Greg were friends but I think she assumed they were only friends in a work colleagues/ in law level and not besties) When Greg was talking to Tom about “Gregging” on the phone right at the start of the episode Shiv walked past him and and looked straight at Greg, he did not notice, she had sunglasses on so it was hard to gage her expression, but she did not look pleased, and I’m pretty sure she knew who Greg was talking too (of all the characters to walk past Greg while he’s on the phone and the fact she looked at him, the writers and directors know what they are doing) From last weeks episode, with Shiv mournfully looking at Tom’s contact number on her phone, we know that she is missing Tom, she couldn’t bring herself to ring him out of pride, but there Greg is talking to him casually on the phone, she knows Greg can ring him whenever he wants, she knows they talk everyday, and that must make her incredibly jealous. Not to mention Tom used to be Shiv’s second in command for her bid for the top job and now Greg is Tom’s second in command, Tom and Shiv aren’t a team anymore, it’s Tom and Greg, a fact that doubtless isn’t lost on her either.

It is probably a mixture of these two jealously reasons that makes Shiv’s contempt for Greg so potent. For a short while Greg and his friendship with Tom will doubtless go back to irrelevance in Shiv’s mind as she deals with her father’s death and the early stages of grief. But as the season moves on, I can’t help but hope that Shiv and Greg will finally have some sort of confrontation or at least a discussion about Tom.

Oh gods where do I even start-- my magnum opus, my beloved, the every-horrible-thing-I-could-think-of-happens-because-no-one-stopped-me (and boy did my best friend try) fic

This was so long I'm sorry-- as you can see, I always want to talk about this fic but have ✨anxiety✨. When asked about it though-- it's what my brain needs to allow it lmao. I do hope you enjoy :)

The first line was originally (as a thought) "I deserve this" , this was scrapped because the concept became irrelevant in later drafts (and now it may become relevant again-- who knows). The first bit before it cuts back to the race was originally the first of a back and forth kind of flashback thing. ex. chapter 2 would have taken place in the present with hints as to what happened, and chapter 3 would directly follow the events of chapter 1. If the way I explained that didn't make much sense-- that should be enough to show why this has since been changed💀

A single step away– but in the corner of his eye; a flash, a blur— and Zoom tackled him off the magnetar.

This was very intentional. I specifically wanted to mention just how close Barry was to winning as he did in canon. Makes everything that happens next all the sweeter, to me :)

There are many parts and lines that are going to hit so much harder later on and that's all I'll say about that matter for the moment.

“You really thought you could defeat me?” His low whine turned into a howl as Zoom pressed harder on an evidently broken rib. “Forgotten I’m the fastest man alive?” Zoom leaned further down and Barry bit his cheek to prevent a shriek. “Don’t worry.” Tone laced with venom, he wrapped a hand around Barry’s windpipe. Zoom’s mask was inches from his face, blocking the breach. “You’ll have plenty of time to remember.” He clawed at the hand desperately, struggling for air.

This is one of my favorite scenes ngl. I wrote this whole excerpt after rewatching the Enter Zoom scene and wrote nothing else for the rest of that night lmao. Tis where you get the parallels between those first two lines and ones in that episode "You really thought you could defeat me?" is just slightly changed from "{Harrison Wells}, you thought you could defeat me {with this}?" And as I type this, I have discovered another layer to that parallel that is extremely relevant to the story. Holy shit this is awesome (I will not be saying. spoilers.) ANYWAYS; the other parallel line. "Forgotten I'm the fastest man alive?" comes from "Never forget, I am the fastest man alive." I love parallels. Let's just say that Zoom is very irritated and a little offended that Barry seems to think he {Zoom}'s less powerful than he is. May need a couple more reminders...

Knew I needed another really bad injury besides the broken rib to both bring the Enter Zoom parallels to a climax, and to make the next scene/s work. I thought "Hey! Speedsters can't run if their leg is broken!" and that was that.

“Now you can watch your precious multiverse die. Knowing you’re the one who destroyed it.”

This might be my favorite line and it is the only anything from the first draft of chapter 1 that made it to the final draft. Also I wrote it at 5 am because of course I did.

Somewhere behind the two speedsters, there was a scream

The person who screamed will not be revealed in this fic but I do know who it was and there is an in-universe reason for it besides simply directing the attention away from Barry. I wrote a companion piece off of that reason-- may post it if I feel like cleaning it up a little. But for now, feel free to theorize :)

And finally, to round out the chapter 1 fun facts and commentary-- something I've wanted to say since that fateful day it was posted.

Hi! Just finished reading the Villainous Paranoiac Sues for Defamation, and I'm on my way to reread the entire AU. I've noticed that the novel (and Megami somewhat) referred to Yuu as a girl, and I wanted to clarify if Yuu in this AU in non-binary?

Also! This may be irrelevant, but if it's okay, I'd like to know. Your artwork has Yuu with short hair, but in Megami's PoV, she mentions that Yuu let her brush their apparently really long hair? Did something happen? Or did Yuu just decide to cut their hair short one day (in NRC or in their world)?

Yes, you noticed correctly! Yuu is non-binary, though at NRC they’re in the weird, nebulous stage of working that out for themselves.

The Gracey family held very traditionalist values, after all, projecting an ideal of “a wholesome family business” to increase sales and their standing among the Japanese elite and on the world stage.

Yuu’s spent their life in the Gracey household trying to live up to a certain ideal of gender that they believed would give them a measure of power or control in an environment determined to deprive them of both. Before their disownment, they’d never even heard of the language that could let them understand who they are a little better. How could they? Gracey Ken would never allow such influences near any of his children. The bastard could infect the others.

It’s only once they’ve been legally barred from answering to the name “Gracey Fuyuhime” and are trying to work out their new identity as “Yuu” in Kyoto that they use their (mostly) unmonitored wifi to actually begin exploring and learning.

It (and a slightly ill-timed act of youthful rebellion) is what leads to Yuu cutting off the long hair they’ve braided since childhood. (Maybe too short, but oh well.) To begin experimenting with presenting in a more masculine fashion, purchasing and quickly growing comfortable wearing binders. Of realizing maybe the answer isn’t wholly one or the other, but then…?

But then they get kidnapped coming back from their graveyard shift at the convenience store by a horse-drawn carriage to an all-boys school, and the rest is history.

None of the Graceys know, of course.

Megami, if she found out, may be a little confused over not quite having a “sister”, but she has the spirit.

The rest of the family might not be so forgiving…

no I don't have any :( I am the most indecisive and anxious person, so even though I LOVE tattoos and really want to get some, so far I haven't done it. One thing that I keep seeing brought up, and not just by HLT but some of the “GP” (it’s more of a case of women who are extremely online and consume a lot of pop culture and are very snarky towards most of it, in my opinion, because they feel better about themselves that way), but anyway, what I see pop up over and over is the whole “Harry won’t claim her” thing, and it’s so odd.

Claim her? We’re really using that language about a woman? She’s not his fucking dog. Also, while Olivia has been slightly more open about their relationship (with very sideways stuff like “I didn’t leave Jason for Harry, that relationship ended way before I met Harry” or “our relationship is private”, she’s also extremely cagey about him. She hasn’t sat down to do a tell-all interview on how they got together or told us stuff about their domestic lives. She hasn’t even called him her boyfriend, or partner. She hasn’t posted a picture of him on socials that wasn’t for work. She hasn’t directly talked about their relationship other than veeeery tangentially allowing that it exists.

Of course this has been Harry’s MO for relationships his entire career. And it very much wasn’t Olivia’s before him (if anything, she was an oversharer). But just like Harry took Pilates with her instructor and that life philosophy sentence and probably a lot of other things we’re not privy to (I think, for instance, that this approach he has of making jokes about stuff people criticize about him is 100% her influence because in 10 years in the spotlight he had never done that, but it’s becoming a thing he does now, since he met her, and she’s always used self deprecating humor to make fun of criticism leveraged at her. Famously when she read mean tweets Justin Bieber fans sent her back in like, 2013), I think Olivia realized that Harry’s minimal social media approach and measured words about private matters was… a good strategy. She said something along those lines, like it didn’t benefit her to speak on her private life. I’m sure speaking so much about Jason bit her in the ass in the long run (everyone thought they were the perfect couple and, well…). And also other blunders like saying they had sex like Kenyan marathon runners or like her vagina had died with her ex. While I’m sure she regretted those pretty fast, I think it took her longer to connect that maybe… not airing out your private life is a good approach.

I think it probably wasn’t necessary for her to be so measured in the past, because she wasn’t this exposed and social media was a lot different but right now, she’s probably 1000000% on board with Harry’s approach. I’m sure it was tough to walk the red carpet with your partner and not touch them, awkward even, like you don’t know what to do with your limbs, but in the end, seeing how things played out, I think she was glad that they didn’t. That she knew it would’ve been a lot worse if they had.

I think she knows that if he “claimed her” things would not be better for her. Just seeing the way Larries treat Eleanor, who has been “claimed” a million times, tells you enough. It’s completely irrelevant or even makes things worse.

I think that if they end up getting married or having kids together, things will loosen up, because it just becomes a little ridiculous to be so tight lipped at that point, but it was definitely not going to happen while the movie wasn’t even out (and it probably won’t happen for a while after).

Those hateful women (and I highlight that they’re women because it’s fucking appalling that we’re often harsher on other women than men themselves), who claim that it’s embarrassing that Olivia keeps doing the most for Harry (what even is the most? Spending time with him? Wearing his merch? Speaking about him in a professional manner? Cause Harry does equivalents of those things as well), when “he won’t even claim her” and project that he doesn’t want to admit to having a girlfriend for PR and Olivia is so pathetic are genuinely… like, I can tell they have no joy in their lives because how are you willfully interpreting a situation that’s none of your business in the most negative way? When you have 1% of the facts and these are people you don’t even actually follow?

Sorry, but this sort of thing is just annoying. I know Harry is not perfect but assuming that he’s heartless enough to not acknowledge his partners (who are desperate for his validation) to keep a specific image even if those partners are “torn to pieces” because he keeps that public image is such a horrible horrible attribute to assume about a perfect stranger. Such a cynical interpretation of things for no good reason.

Perhaps I’m weird for giving random celebs the benefit of the doubt when I don’t know their motivations. Or perhaps I don’t feel the need to elevate my life and my self worth by putting down celebrities for a hobby.

Nons - I don't have much to add to this because you put it all perfectly but I would like to loudly join the chorus that in the YEAR OF OUR IMAGINARY LORD 2022 we do not expect men to CLAIM their women.

(Especially when we are also relentlessly criticizing the way said woman performs her feminism.)

AUHAHAHAHAHA I will only know if that actually worked when I check this after posting.

I... Am bit shitty when it comes to showing my content for projects. A lot of it's usually because peopleing is not easy, especially when I've developed a mild distrust in others that I haven't had long enough of a connection to to solidly believe they're a... "person"? It's a little hard to explain, and I don't want to explain it here.

I have a lot of ideas.

I've compiled two, maybe three years worth of notes in my own personal archive server. And throughout most of it, I've spent time coming up with designs, changing those designs in subtle, drastic, or ultimately just keeping the same design but giving it a fun fact that is ultimately meaningless in the long run

But I really don't have a lot as far as writing.

No, I don't mean I haven't written anything for this, in terms of story- just that uh, in all the things I've written, I'm not really satisfied with any of them. Some of them were set before I knew what I was truly trying to do, and currently I struggle as much just to tailor a pleasing beginning, or even work within my own parameters I set up to make my job a little free-er.

But in the long run, the story is something that exists in fragmented pieces in my head, and trying to translate that (including the fact that it's fragmented) onto a document- again, where do I even begin?

Like, I'm basically just stuck in the premise of-

> child has been running around and scavenging through abandoned areas of old towns and shit, killing strange demented wildlife whenever they don't find some conveniently stored food

> child happens to find the remains of a camp, which would become important later in a very roundabout way

> something something they start running away because their past is actively hunting them, only for them to run into something equally as terrifying

And I have the most Vegas of transitioning for the next portion after that, but-

I've yet to find a satisfying way to put that into a longer story, preferably more then 5 pages.

But in the meantime, I've drawn, made notes, asked people who listen for ideas, and I've even attempted to make music! Kind of shitty, crude even. But music!

And I hope to build some kind of full soundtrack, among other things, whether or not the people I've enlisted to help me with this whole thing are there too. Because honestly, I love the contributions people have made, but I also recognize that if there's no one else to rely on, you got to start taking things into your own hands, and uh, ahem, "JUST- DO- IT!!"

Or something like that.

And anybody who has seen this project from start to finish, relevancy to irrelevancy, shitpost to slightly serious shitpost-

You all hold a special place in the detective style mystery board of photos and other assorted things interconnected that is my mind, and in further, my metaphorically pin filled heart.

A lot of this project is for me, but it's also indirectly for a lot of you, whether it's to express the care I have (in some strangely displayed manners), or just to tell a very convoluted, perhaps endless story everyone can enjoy. If you know the truth to it, then you know.

I can't promise it'll be anytime soon, but I'm probably going to keep at this project until the day I physically can't keep it in my mind. Ever. And that implies that I won't be able to keep the memories of others alive too, and I will *always* do that.

People might have come and gone, but the memories will be there,

Forevermore.

I don’t think I’ll really go into this but what I think would’ve happened was that those internet trolls (sorry I mean ex-classmates) would’ve found Jungkook’s Twitter through Namjoon’s and found the school he’s going to (probably he posted about it or he’s following the school’s Twitter). Which is also how the brutal ones are dm-ing him all that hate yk?

For Jaegguk: His name IS 재국 BUT I slightly went for the more romanized version of his name. Like yk how some army’s spell Jungkook as “Jeongguk”? It’s similar to that. Because depending on how the reader reads “guk” it can easily become “걱” instead of “국”, so the extra “ㄱ” insures more the “ook” sound ig. Tbh I just made him jaegguk to fit his Twitter username nfjdjfhdhd🤧

Now this one is tricky and I could probably write a whole essay on the formal and like more truthful implications of what 오빠 means. Truthfully and technically, 오빠 does mean older brother or anyone older than the female speaker… HOWEVER, there’s kinda like a flirty aspect to it… 오빠 kinda carries a similar meaning to “babe” or “baby”. kinda. It’s more like an very very very innocent version of “daddy” too ig. It’s kinda difficult to really express in a few lines the implications that 오빠 can have. But most the time, between friends, you don’t call the other person 오빠 unless you really think of them as a brother or you’re flirting with them. It’s like bro/babe in one word and you kinda have to figure out what that person means based on your relationship with them.

For example, I have a childhood friend that is 2 years older than me that I call 오빠, but we are 1000000% not dating. I’ve known this dude since I was a fetus and sang Dora the Explorer everywhere. There’s no way we’d ever date but we have a mutual respect for each other so I still call him 오빠.

However when I was first flirting/썸-ing with my ex-bf who was 20 months away older than me I started calling him 오빠. We called each other by names before but that quickly changed when we found a mutual interest in one another.

If you’re a girl and you meet an older guy that you’re legitimately gonna be friends with, you’d more likely call them [name]-ssi until you’d both agree to drop honorifics. When that happens you’d most likely call him by his name and if you start mutually showing interest then you might transition to 오빠.

It’s quite complicated and there’s some guys who tell you to “call them 오빠 because they think of you as a little sister” when in reality they’re flirting with you.

This turned out wayyyy too long, sorry.

In yn’s case I made her call JK “오빠” because she was making fun of him but she’s gradually showing interest in him. Plus, JK seems to hate it rn so it’s funny… ahhh the things I do for the crackfullness of my fics🥴

i've been seeing many posts recently about how Azula was sexualized by the show and how some people make her play the role of femme fatale in fanfics, especially towards Zuko, and i want to know how you feel about it since you like to defend Azula from bullshit but you're also an expert on the weird side of the fandom.

Do you think the incest subtext was something the writers created to show how evil Azula is? Do you think people would still ship Zucest if it wasn't there? Do you think people would still think of her as a femme fatale if it wasn't there?

This is gonna be a long one, so let's get the easy part out of the way: Azula could have been a villain for literally one episode, have no interaction with Zuko or any other guy, and be wearing a burka the entire time and there'd still be people shipping them AND writting stories about her being a femme fatale. Fanworks, smutty and otherwise, are about taking aspects of canon and adding your own twist - that ranges from absurdly "loyal" to canon, to just loosely based on it with characters that have the same names, same faces, and slightly similar personality as their canon counterparts, but that are basically a completely different person.

The problem is that the ATLA fandom really sucks at differentiating canon from fanon. Many of the fans, especially those who like the Femme Fatale!Azula and/or those who assume Evil Lady = Slut, will look at actual proof that Azula is NOT that type of character in the show, and respond with "But she acts completely differently in a porn parody!" or "But the Evil Seductress trope is really popular!" and not realize that they're bringing up something that is completely irrelevant to the conversation because there's a big difference between a kink/trope and an actual character.

By far the episode that contradicts the Seductress!Azula idea the most is The Beach. That episode makes it canon that Azula doesn't really know how to interact with people her age, let alone flirt with a boy, and we literally see her first kiss happening. When she uses her "We'll dominate the earth" line it shows that she has no idea how to mask her real self to look more appealing, which is a key aspect of any female character that "uses her sexuality as a weapon." Girl couldn't play that role if her life depended on it. Honestly, even if she could, I don't think she would. Azula is paranoid about losing control and of letting others get too close because they could betray her. She's just not that type of character. At all.

Now, let me make a distinction very clear here: There is an incestuous subtext in the show - Grey Delisle (an adult woman who used to be a narrator in trailers for porn movies) literally said she voiced the bedroom scene seductively. And there are other scenes that feel weird, like Zuko's dream of Azula as the blue dragon, which literally has him thinking of her as the embodiment of temptation (sure, temptation isn't always sexual in nature, but it's hard to miss the obviously implications, especially when combined with "Azula" asking Zuko if he plans on going to the bedroom any time soon). It's there. I don't think the writers ever intended on actually fleshing out that "plot", they were just toying with ideas, kind of how there was a fuck ton of Zutara bait in the show, but the plan was obviously to make Kataang and Maiko happen.

However, while that subtext is there, the "Femme Fatale" thing is basically non-existent. When Azula lied to Zuko about Ozai wanting him home and then when she actually gave him the chance to be a prince again, there was no "seduction" (in a romantic/sexual way) involved. He wanted his honor, his country, his title and his father's approval, and that's exactly what Azula offered. Nothing more, nothing less. She was also nice to him on The Headband and on The Beach without any ulterior motive. Hell, the "Azula always lies" line is incredibly ironic since the event that made it come up was Azula telling Zuko a terrible truth he did not want to believe.

Even their infamous interaction in The Awakening doesn't really fit since Azula only threw him under the bus because he (accidentally) did that to her first by not telling her in Ba Sing Se that Aang could have survived, and when he confronted her she told him why she did what she did, and then never did anything against him after that until he changed sides. Again, Grey voiced it seductively, and the animators sure as hell helped the scene look suspicious as fuck, but they obviously were using it as fanservice, not as something that they were planning on ever having mean something or affect the story in any way - though that certainly doesn't mean that people won't use it to demonize Azula some more.

Again, the one time she is truly playing the role of evil seductress luring Zuko in just to stab him in the back later is in Zuko's dream. That scene tells us literally nothing about Azula since she's not even there, but it shows that either Zuko internalized the mysoginistic idea that "evil" women and "slutty" women are one in the same, or that he is repressing some attraction that he considers immoral and dangerous - whether he is even aware that he is doing it or not is a completely different story.

And notice how this happens BEFORE Azula acts in any way that could be considered even remotely inappropriate towards her brother, yet many fans that picked up on the subtext are 100% sure that if there are any incestuous feelings there they are either completely one-sided (with Azula being the "sinful" one, of course) or something she has to "manipulate Zuko into wanting"? Funny how that works, huh?

Hi, I really love reading everything you wrote regarding GGDD. I'm very new to this "fandom" and there are so many stuff I still don't know. Most things I've read, I'm not even sure facts or not, and bcos I don't know the Chinese language, I can't even do a proper, thorough research on my own. So I'm very sorry if my questions are obnoxious. What I really want to know is if you have any idea on how do/will this Operation Qinglang by the Chinese Govt will affect GGDD and their respective fans. Like, do you think GGDD can be more relaxed in how they interact publicly if the way their fans react to everything they do is more manageable? Also, I always feel like GGDD's,esp GG, astronomic popularity in everything that involved voting by fans is a bit unnatural and slightly off-putting. Do you think the abolishment of most popularity rankings will have negative impact on their careers?

For a full overview of this campaign, I highly recommend the post Pie did a while back. She goes into a great deal of detail on all of it, and you'll walk away with a pretty comprehensive understanding of the basics of this issue and some of its implications for the fandom.

As for how I think it will impact GG and DD, how I think it already has impacted them, I’d rather not go into too much detail on that at this point. Suffice it to say that I don’t like the direction the industry has taken over the past couple of years and I feel that any truly widespread, significant improvements in fan behavior and attitudes remain to be seen.

While it’s true that things have shifted a bit to where fan crackdowns are actually starting to happen a bit more on c-social media, it’s also a bit scarier because artists are held much more directly responsible for fan behavior than they were previously.

Things have been heading in the opposite direction from ‘relaxed’ and ‘open’ in the industry, and I wouldn’t expect to see GGDD interacting publicly anytime soon. I talked a bit more about my thoughts on why in this post a while back (although it doesn’t directly discuss the campaign, the issues remain pretty much the same).

Popularity rankings are largely irrelevant, and always have been. Their abolishment has done nothing to shift the standing of various stars. It’s just meant that there are fewer things for fans to argue over, which is one of the few good things to come out of this campaign.

ok, so andrew and neil aren't the most openly affectionate

there's no hints to the public that they could possibly be together, considering their little... rivalry

however, with andrew out now, a few people like to believe that andrew and neil could have an "enemies-to-lovers" situation

some people even think that they're already together

nevertheless, this is a very small population in the grand scheme of exy, and most of this is indulging in fantasies anyways — few people really believe in these theories

and as months pass after andrew's coming out, people stop pestering him every 0.2 seconds about who his boyfriend is

andrew and neil think they're finally free of all the annoying paparazzi and slightly overbearing fans

and it's under this false sense of security that shit hits the roof

it's a random september night when it happens, nothing terribly significant

but the whole week, andrew had been craving a closeness with neil, the kind that comes with not seeing your person for weeks

so he booked a flight to where neil was, realizing that had this occurred a few years back, andrew probably wouldn't have even acknowledged that he missed neil, let alone made steps to actually see him again

on a flight.

(he thinks bee would be proud)

anyway, he reached neil's apartment with minimal damage and proceeded to be drowned in kisses

it's a good few days.

and then, on that fateful september night, andrew is hit with the urge to take neil out

they don't usually go out on those, but it's not like they've never done so before

so andrew books a dinner reservation at a fancy restaurant, fully intending to take his man out on a nice. fancy. relaxing. drama-free. date.

of course, the universe has other plans

andrew and neil arrive at the restaurant (a little late but neil's lips were a good distraction for a few hours, okay? (they may have left the kitchen in disarray from lunch, but that's irrelevant))

their table is a secluded corner where they're pretty much hidden from view, save for one or two tables, and the seemingly solid privacy relaxes andrew and neil

their dinner goes by relatively uneventfully

(excluding when andrew gave a small smile to one of neil's dumb jokes, who proceeded to dump marinara sauce into his water instead of next to his garlic bread while staring dreamily at andrew, and then nearly choked when he took his next sip from the glass)

(also excluding when neil gave a not-so-innocent suck on his fork and andrew, frustrated over laws about public indecency, stabbed his brussel sprouts aggressively, causing one to fly up and hit and burn his eye)

ok, so maybe it was more of a mess than andrew was ready to admit

but andrew dug into his panna cotta feeling lighter than he had in weeks as neil teased him about his sugar addiction and held his hand under the table

it was as andrew leaned over and kissed some cream off the side of neil's lips that he got the feeling of being watched

he whirled around, hair nearly hitting neil's face, as his gaze landed on a cell phone camera pointed at them

he caught the eye of a very guilty looking man, made even more errant when said man proceeded to leap out of his chair and run out of the restaurant

andrew was half-out of his chair to follow him when neil tugged on his shirt sleeve, an instigative glint in his eye

"neil. do you want to see this on every gossip magazine in the next few hours?"

"well no, but that fuckwad is always going to have those pictures. we, however, can make sure he doesn't get the headline he wants"

"... i'm listening"

about 40 minutes later, back at neil's apartment, neil posts a picture of his extremely messy kitchen on twitter

needless to say, the internet erupts in shock at neil's tweets

theories emerge left and right about how, when, why andrew and neil got together

the two of them get requests for so many interviews, talk shows, panels, magazines, all of which they turn down

of course, there's the occasional question in a post-game or team interview that's hard to avoid, and for the most part, these rare moments provide the only things the public knows about what they affectionately call "andreil"

but apparently when you're in a very public relationship, there are certain expectations fans have about how much of it you disclose

and while andrew doesn't necessarily want to divulge their private life to millions of people, he also can't help but be reminded of how seeing nicky and erik's comfortable relationship in his late teenage years solidified to him that him liking guys wasn't a bad thing

and it's with that in mind that he posts a picture on his instagram from earlier in june of him and neil curled up on the sofa, a massive rainbow flag draped around them with neil kissing his cheek

it's one of the few pictures he posts of the two of them (photos are more of neil's thing (when the hell did he take such model-esque photos of andrew?))

but andrew constantly @'s neil on twitter for literally anything

needless to say, neil's retaliation of posting gorgeous photos of andrew always flusters andrew

and if andrew needs to press soft kisses to his lips to stop neil's gleeful laughter and his own flightful smile, well, that's no one's business
