Oh! OHHHHHHH! AN EPIPHANY.
We've known for months about the official logo for S2. The two mermaids symbolising Ed, their hands forming his name, one the Blackbeard side, the other the Ed-side with the broken heart.
Tumblr media
But when I was watching the teaser for the [redacted] time, it was this shot that caught me and made me yell and remember things:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OKAY. SO.
Season one had Stede's journey echoed in the story of Pinocchio. He reads from the book, there's the journey from being a puppet (controlled by the world and circumstances around him) to being a real boy. There's a gorgeous parallel between little Stede tied to the rowboat in terror and adult Stede who has cut all his strings in another rowboat, free at last.
Season two is Ed's story. But Ed isn't Pinocchio. Ed is the little mermaid and aaaaaa! I am rolling around in all the layers and layers of it that have been set up from S1 already.
The biggest thing is Ed giving up his metaphorical voice and going on land for the man he loves. He signed the act of grace and gave up the world where he had security, power and allies. Only Stede didn't come with him and aaaaaah the tragedy of the original little mermaid story is that the Prince who the mermaid sacrificed everything for didn't want her.
(also so much subtext for Hans Christian Andersen's yearning)
And it hit me tonight that Ed is on wedding ships and I had somehow forgotten that the big final arc of the Little Mermaid is that she is on the wedding ship. The man she loves is there, marrying someone else, and she has the choice of killing him and rejoining the world she knows or dying herself and aaaaaaa. I AM HAVING THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS.
I will leave you with this quote, which seems incredibly relevant given the first lines in the teaser:
She knew this was the last evening she should ever see the prince for whom she had forsaken her kindred and her home. She had given up her beautiful voice and suffered unheard-of pain daily for him, while he knew nothing of it. This was the last evening that she should breathe the same air with him or gaze on the starry sky and the deep sea.

I just had this Epiphany and thought of sharing this with you. It changed my perspective towards the 3D. Hope it helps and makes sense.
Many people see the 3D as something that they don't fully control or something that has its own will or power which is utterly false. They see the 3D as their enemy which never goes according to how they "expected" but that's not how it works. The 3D has always been your ally, the one who always follows your command no matter what. It shows you what you approve or accept or claim as yours. The 3D doesn't give you what you "wish/want/expect/hope" because it signifies uncertainty and lack of having it and gives away your freedom as the conscious creator/God if the 3D manifested something you don't fully accept or claim as yours. It only manifests what you claim as true, therefore giving you the freedom to choose whatever you want as the god/creator. The 3D's one and only job is to give you what you accept as yours as the God of your reality and not something you just wish or hope you had because if the 3D manifested what you just wished for a while, it’s like giving away your freedom to choose as the creator. We chose to forget our real identity as the creator and let the illusions of the limited society blind us from seeing the truth, we're the ones who allowed it, we're the ones who chose suffering to show up in our 3D therefore the 3D followed and showed only suffering in your life. You "expected" happiness but "chose" suffering to be your dominant state and the 3D showed you exactly that. It was never your enemy to begin with, it’s even funny to consider your own creations to go against your creator, the 3D(your creation) is BOUND to follow the creator's(you) command, that is its only job. As we chose to forget our identity as god who knew that whatever you command is what is true but the 3D didn't forget, the 3D still knows that you’re its creator and continues to give you what you command as yours giving you and reminding you the freedom and the authority you possess deep within you, it’s our job to recognize ourselves as God and instead of hoping it, we must command it as ours then the 3D has no option but to show it to you.

You don't have to answer this ofc, but what is your opinion on the main four(D'arce, Cahara, Enki, and Ragnvaldr)? Also, what's your take on them as Yanderes? If you don't feel like answering this im really sorry for bothering you! Hope you are having a great day!!❤️
Thank you! :D
---
D'arce is a worshipping and delusional yandere! She thinks you're absolutely perfect, a god in human form without even needing to ascend. She would go to the ends of the earth for you. Anything you say is truth. Everything you do is perfect. All D'arce wants is to love you and protect you. She was your knight, after all! And all she really asks for in return is the blessing of being able to by your side. As your confidant. Your knight. Your lover.
Bearing the soul of the endless, Cahara had spent much of his life simply drifting by, seeing where his travels and jobs take him. The flings he'd had before were simply that - flings. He figured it'd be more of the same with you, but no. You fascinated him. You were like an addiction. He became obsessed, wanting to always be close to you, touch you, look at you, know everything about you any way he could. At some point, Cahara had an epiphany. It was almost like you... You were meant to be. His infatuation over you has become endless, as well.
Enki is definitely possessive. He wants to make sure that not only do you know you're his, but so does everyone else. He keeps himself very close to you, boxing you away from the others. Being a tad sadistic, he'll threaten your or your allies to keep you in line - and he may even make good on some of them! If he senses any potential rivals, he won't hesitate to simply cast an incredibly agonizing spell on them that slowly kills them over time.
Ragnvaldr is a protective yandere. After losing his entire life, his family, to the Knight of The Midnight Sun, Ragnvaldr hadn't been the same man. His soul was that of the tormented, but when he was with you, the burden was so much easier to bear. He found friendship in you, clicking together like you were always meant to meet. But, Ragnvaldr finds himself waiting for the next boot to drop. For you to be taken from him, too. The idea his terrifying. He can't lose the last good thing in his life. He can't let anyone else die...! He doesn't care what he has to do to keep you safe. Even if it means sawing off all your limbs so you can never, ever leave. It's okay. He has enough strength to protect you.

here's the drawing for the Pegasus Natives AU!!!! im so proud of it like the FOLDS the SHADING omg im so excited to share this with you
fashion breakdown under the cut bc i way overthought this lol
from left to right
aiden - i tried to have my references match the vibe of canon for the planet with all the kids but the most important additions imo were his flat cap and his "shoes". the flat cap was because ford wore that ballcap of his so often he looked weird without it, and i once again felt it matched the vibe. the barefoot covers were based off acrobat covers because i refuse to believe that feral forest children who climbed trees for a living wore real shoes.
teyla - i felt like taking one of her canon outfits was cheating in a way??? so when i saw a sweater shawl in my references it screamed teyla to me. the satchel belt was embarrassingly an afterthought when i realised she was the only one without any pockets 😅
elizabeth - i pulled the colours from her usual outfits and uniform because she looks so good in red 😍
john - this was really hard! and also the only one where my references were screencaps from canon. i mixed Ronan's tunic shirt, holsters, and blaster with John's cloister outfit from epiphany
rodney - we really only see the genii in either uniform or farm garb, but i know there has to be a secret third fashion. because the technology mirrors 1940s allied nations, i went with 1940s men's fashion. his tie is pulled from his uniform patch
radek - same as rodney but i went with a different reference lol but his sweater is pulled from the uniform undershirt he always wears
carson - hoffans seem to wear a lot of 1918 three piece suits, so i took inspo from a bunch of different suits to get one i really liked. his undershirt is the same powder blue as the shirt he wears under his uniform (bc i wasnt liking the yellow of his uniform patches 😅)

I love Mistystar so much. In a world filled with representation of Stereotypical Conservative Grandparent, Mistystar represents all those grandparents who are like. So close. They tell you all these stories of the Horrors they lived through and how that spurred their incredible political activism, and there's so much that the two of you agree on. They're a breath of fresh air at family gatherings because you know that if things turn to Politics, you won't be out here alone against all your conservative kin. But. She just can never take that extra step! She's Meemaw Fascist Murderer, but things like criticizing capitalism are off limits! And you just wish you could shake her and be like come on! You're constantly on the edge of this huge political epiphany, Meemaw! Come with me! And then. Some days. She comes home and is like "You know, my friend said something about [insert insane conservative talking point], and I think she might have a point" and you just want to scream! Meemaw NO! (G-d I hope this is a relatable experience)
It ABSOLUTELY is relatable lmaooo, I've been there in the trenches with you, Nonnie. It is such a unique kind of stress when you have an older family member like that just teeter-tottering on the edge of ONE extra step foward and they DONT TAKE IT
You can file the worst members of your family under "Objective: SURVIVE" and it gives you so much more of a shield against them. You expect dumb shit from Uncle Fungleblock, the Republican Elf, never to the point where it stops hurting, but to the point that you're prepared for the fight.
But nothing prepares you for Meemaw suddenly not having your back when you needed her, because she's genuinely considering that talking point from her friend.
So now you're using the Measured Meemaw Tone, trying to legitimately address her argument the way that sometimes soothing the horse can make it drink, while Fungleblock is casting Racism Fireball at you and you can FEEL his Slur Cooldown ticking away.
You think back to everything she's been through, how gutwrenching her stories are, the things she's experienced, violence and bigotry she's WITNESSED changing over the course of her own life... but on some level, it's as if she's stuck believing that progress is just about fighting The Bad People, or making an argument convincing enough that the good guys win fair and square, and she's gotten as old as she is because she has a support network that your allies may not.
So she never really will truly protect you from Fungleblock himself as long as he behaves just enough. She helps but she isn't your hero. And she'll still keep falling into bigoted traps, because she never will crack that nut and realize the difference between racist stereotypes and material conditions.
Love, pride, and disappointment. How do you hold them all at once? You just let them swirl as they please.
In my experience, at least, lmao. But hey, my own personal Fungleblock threw himself out of Thanksgiving with a tantrum so. Life is good B)

March 25th, 3AM EST, Full Moon Lunar Eclipse
The upcoming Full moon lunar eclipse is taking place March 25th 3am est.
Welcome eclipse season! This full moon is in the zodiac sign of Libra. With major themes centered around collective empowerment, financial reallocation and holy blessings.
Mars is stationed 1° in the zodiac sign of Pisces, denoting a time of dreaminess, confusion and hidden secret motives. With this energy piloting the Sun, there's a lot of spiritual understanding and epiphany going on this full moon. We're going to be having a lot more psychic understanding of our destinies And realities and may even experience spiritual visions, visitations or other happenings of a supernatural nature. Not only is the sun's ruler stationed in Pisces, the sun himself is loosely conjunct Neptune. Pay close attention to your dreams during this full moon as they actually will have messages for you.
On a world stage level, we can expect lots of moisture and condensation on and around this full moon, and for some it maybe is extreme as flooding.
All this spiritual energy is undergirded by Jupiter in Taurus. This denotes a major Reformation and revolution surrounding how we interact with financial institutions in their relation to religion, and religious institutions in their relation to the environment and our values. This moon is going to be calling many of us back to seeking faith in a tangible and real way. With Saturn transiting through Pisces, religion, spiritual institutions then faith have been in the wringer, however are going to be slightly alleviated during this time with harmonious aspects between Jupiter and Saturn.
Big wins for environmentalism on government reform with Ceres in Capricorn trine Jupiter in Taurus. This shows major changes in dietary issues, rectification of impoverishment and starvation and an influx of food and nourishment as well.
We're going to be clearly seeing our values collectively with Venus exalted conjunct Saturn and sextile Jupiter. This configuration is deeply positive and points to some uplifting and helpful changes surrounding religious issues, hierarchical systems and how they interact with our values. And on a personal level speak to the development of sweetness in our relationship with spirituality, are collective and our values. Some of us may be developing deeper relationships during this time, learning how to cherish solitude or even deepening our faith.
Venus has been conjunct Saturn, and despite Saturn being malefic, Venus and Saturn are allies, so this energy is actually refined and we're going to be craving love and romance that is mature and in alignment with our souls path.
Collectively, we can expect significant legal proceedings to take place during this lunar cycle with the Libra full moon and Pallas Athene Square Mars, Venus and Saturn, major instances of injustice are going to be brought to light which will be quickly rectified when she goes retrograde on the 30th of March. These injustices are surrounding places people and things deeply connected to religion and belief. Similarly, we can expect issues in the world of sports and athletics to come to light particularly water sports.
There's an overall positive energy to this eclipse cycle, it has a momentous and progressive quality that speaks to massive change. However, you can't have change without unrest. We can expect this full moon to come with societal unrest, protests and major issues with government polity and control. This feels like a victory for the collective and like change for the better.
Tarot Cards: 9 of cups, 6 of cups, 3 of cups, 6 of swords- Major themes of wish fulfillment, celebration, and overarching sweetness. We have the numbers 369, these numbers in some metaphysical circles in the west are considered master manifestation numbers. We're leaving things behind collectively and coming into a type of abundance after going through a very difficult time. However, this marks the beginning of a new difficult cycle but one that will yield rich fruit.
Workings for this full moon:
Money
Transformation
Love/lust
Domination
Justice work

I hate Netflix’s Shadow and Bone more every day - A baffling conversation between Zoya and Aleksander
“Maybe she wasn’t abducted. Maybe she was rescued, maybe she ran with them.”
I was re-watching this exchange between Zoya and the Darkling from season 1 of Shadow and Bone and there was something that stuck out to me. The two of them are discussing Alina’s presumed abduction, the Darkling is visibly agitated and stressed out while Zoya looks to be on the edge of saying something, but is hesitant with her words. She then suggests that Alina wasn’t abducted, but that she was rescued.
And I thought to myself: “Hang on, what? Why are you phrasing it like that”
What I’m referring to is Zoya’s curious use of the word “rescue” to describe what she believed happened to Alina. For some reason, this word choice stuck out to me and really puzzled me with its usage in this scene. Because just after she suggests this, Zoya starts going in a different direction where she says that Alina most likely ran off due to the pressure of being a sun summoner.
So why use the word rescue?
At this point, Zoya is still on the Darkling’s side and believes in his cause. It is only after witnessing the shadow fold fiasco that she has some epiphany and switches sides. Rescue is a word that has a specific and unambiguously positive connotation, it means saving someone from a difficult or dangerous situation. It makes no sense that Zoya would use such a word on this context because what exactly would Alina need rescuing from?
She was treated well at the little palace, there was no immediate threats to her life there due to her security measures and during the fete, she seemed to be having a good time. So why would Zoya use the word “rescue” unless…she was given preemptive insight by the writers into matters she would have no way of knowing otherwise. This preemptive insight is drawn from thin air for Zoya, it is not a reflection of her observational skills or inside knowledge, it is the writer’s clumsy way of saying that the Darkling was holding Alina prisoner. Because the only reason why Zoya would phrase it this way is if she somehow knew that the Darkling had evil intentions all along.
But that also makes no sense because at that point, Zoya was still allied with him and onboard with the plan. The whole reason why she switched to Alina’s side was because of her moral objections to the Darkling’s methods as well as the loss of her Aunt that occurred in the last episode. So there’s no reason why she would characterize the situation like that.
From the beginning, the writers have been like “Ooooh is the little palace a sanctuary? Or is it a prison? *gasp* and you didn’t even notice how quickly those lines became blurred ooooh the thematic resonance.” It’s so stupid and this is a problem that can be seen throughout the entire show. Where certain characters will say things that make no sense unless they somehow have already read the script and act like they know the ending before it even happens.

Djura x Valtr divorce thoughts
Tumblr media
Tbh the first thing I thought about when I've learned this bit was that Valtr commissioned this weapon specifically, rather than just used one of them cool Powder Kegs inventions, but it could be even so much more!
'Old hunter' is the term referring to the Hunters of Gehrman's type, the different kind than Church's ones, and we know Djura is one of the Old Hunters as well! It would only make sense that Valtr got in Yharnam around the time when they were pretty active, especially since the pieces of Constable Set (corpses of his dead friends) are picked around Hunter's Nightmare, which is specifically built around Old Hunters era! It is also easy to assume that in that era, Powder Kegs were not active and instead it was Oto Workshop since you get Firing Hammer badge in Hunter's Nightmare, but:
Tumblr media
It is hard to tell! The Oto Workshop badge, the Firing Hammer one, is dropped by NPC Bestial Hunter, whereas Oto Workshop did not create the Boom Hammer (funny enough!), and yet Old Hunters all over Hunter's Nightmare are using this weapon! Reasonable to assume that Hunter's Nightmare captivated the timeframe after Oto Workshop already fallen, and was replaced by Powder Kegs. And so, Djura was already a big deal!
I also love the attention to the bit that Boom Hammer entailed an especially strong vitriol towards the beasts. This attitude easily could have been Djura's past prior and during the time of Powder Kegs burning the Old Yharnam, something he came to regret (not unlike Maria). And so, Valtr had an idea for a weapon that would kill in especially twisted and aggressive way - an approach Djura could sympathise with! And moveover, sort of take Valtr under his wing, since he'd have a hard time, really:
Tumblr media
Valtr instantly caught extreme prejudice and mockery on himself for the ""awful crime"" of not reacting in the most sane way on having his companions murdered by this beast. Valtr already has an aggressive temper, and clearly companionship means everything for this guy as his dying words are about his confederates, so of course he was more fucked than maybe even another hunter in this same situation would be. He was not even a hunter at that time! The way it is worded, in my opinion, emphasises what the Yharnamites think of him: that eating beasts is "just" what he does, or all those whacky foreigners do for that matter, rather than exceptional moment of his life. I think the nickname of beast eater got glued to him because of that, like eternal reminder that what he experienced, and how he reacted to the traumatic event, now defines him in everyone's eyes, rather than like... he made a habit of eating beasts... Heck, maybe it does define him. Maybe it did change him forever, and this "aggressive manic" character is what replaced the person that died in that day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is only fair that Djura would want to give a hand. I like the idea of him being the first one to try to reach out instead of being weirded out or afraid or disgusted: something that even other hunters could have felt nonetheless, as in, 'he is like a beast himself now lmao'.
It is also a no-brainer but I doubt Djura would hate Valtr for eating that beast over "beasts are people tho" sentiment (in other words, what Valtr did was cannibalism I don't see the problem lol). It doesn't feel very 'kind but foolish' person-ish to fear or hate someone for a psychotic reaction in an exceptionally extreme event even after his 'epiphany' on nature of beasts. That would also be at least two layers of hypocrisy on Djura's end then, as not only he himself had regrettable past, but also he doesn't mind "cannibalism" that much if he threatened Paleblood Hunter to leave them as food for his beasts! Three layers of hypocrisy, actually, because even under assumption that Djura did not take part in burning of Old Yharnam himself and just returned to the disaster, he forgave at least two people who did; Djura's Ally and Djura's Apprentice NPCs, who are both wearing Charred Hunter outfits:
Tumblr media
Though if Djura was hypocritical in regards to going "actually I now find what you did inexcusable, bye ✌️", that'd be interesting reason for falling out also! It would be a cool goodbye if Valtr addressed it and rage quit, leaving Djura with feeling of shame forever! After all Djura is not only 'kind', but also 'foolish'? Lol Though I'd say Valtr's general attitude was probably the bigger factor, and he is the more likely initiator of the breakup!
Valtr outright states that nothing impure deserves to live, whereas Djura is willing to spare the surviving beasts of Old Yharnam based on the fact that they can't harm anyone outside. He is not against the hunt entirely and is reasonable enough to acknowledge that outside of Old Yharnam seclusion, beasts are roaming the streets and attacking people; he sends Paleblood Hunter off to "make the best out of the night". And Valtr, in turn, could see this as a betrayal of their previously shared still naive ideals to "exterminate all bad things to protect everyone :3". Beasts are a dark concept, they are humans that failed to uphold their willpower and fell for the darkest, dirtiest side of humanity. Even if those in Old Yharnam basically got infected, are not they still "filth" in his eyes? So, Djura suddenly sympathises with the "filth", all after having been the Old Hunter so legendary that Hunters are still modelling their caps after his to this day!
Tumblr media
But also, Valtr turned out to be reasonable enough to leave him be. He is not summonable in Old Yharnam, unlike Alfred, who you just can tell has THE fanatical mindset. But Valtr sure could grasp the concept of being pragmatic: Old Yharnam beasts, and Djura himself, are isolated now, right? If he was willing to protect the world from the "filthy" things, as far as he was concerned, it was protected from Old Yharnam. Djura is like a gaoler and beasts are like his jailed criminals, and definitely Valtr would recognise the concept, of all people!
So he and Djura parted the ways without hate but for the same reason why Paleblood Hunter and Djura part the ways. Because there are dangerous beasts 'out there', that need to be stopped. And dangerous people, too, but for Djura there is no difference, of course. I imagine it would still be bitter. Maybe Djura would prefer Valtr to chase beasts in Old Yharnam to get isolated within instead of murdering them, but Valtr would be upset at the suggestion. Leave out the Ashen Blood patients, but the beasts outside certainly, definitely became those due to their own dark impulses. And if some asshole long ago didn't fall for the dark impulses, his companions would still be alive! So how can Djura sympathise with that? Is he implying that Valtr should be (retroactively) sympathetic towards THAT beast too? Really bitter things like this on both sides, and Valtr would have stronger grudge, but they are grown men and can agree to simply never see each other again.

Beauty and the Booze - Grog Strongjaw x Dragonborn Reader
Tumblr media
Vox Machina arrived in a new town just as night was falling. They were all tired, hungry, and magically burnt out. Grog had already decided many miles ago that his allies were in need of ale. The group headed for the local tavern only to see a large crowd gathered around the entrance.
Our heroes asked one man, "what's this here, friend?"
"A weekly ritual at this point, stranger," he replied. "Another dumb schmuck has challenged (y/n)."
"(y/n)?"
"The blacksmith's daughter."
With his great strength and might need for booze, Grog plowed through the crowd. The goliath's companions follow behind. Once inside, the adventurers take in the sight of two figures sitting across from each other with several empty mugs and a number of spectators strewn about them.
On the left is the challenger; a large man nearly seven feet tall. To the right, the reigning champion, (y/n); a dragonborn lass with shining golden scales and sharp curving horns. Her smaller stature doesn't seem to deter her from downing multiple rounds of alcohol.
Grog gazes at the hardy female, feeling both impressed and infatuated. He couldn't help but stare as the ale dribbles down her chin and onto her chest, soaking into her soot-covered shirt.
The challenger seemed to be near his limit. Onlookers could see the man going pale. Moments later, he rushes from the building to unload his insides on the outside streets.
The bar erupts in a roar of rowdy cheers as their champion arose from her seat, pumping her fists in victory.
"She's perfect," Grog swooned. Pike looked up at her lovestruck friend and smiled.
"Well lads," the draconic dame chuckled proudly, "it's been fun but I gotta head out."
She began making her exit tipsily, bumping into our heroes and unintentionally tapping shoulders with Grog.
"Oh, sorry about that, bud," she said. Grog just stood there slack-jawed and with even less brain power than usual. "Right." She moved past the crowd and began making the trek back to her own home.
Percy went to the tavern owner and acquired a couple rooms for his party. Room 1: Percy, Vex, Vax, Keyleth. Room 2: Pike, Scanlan, Grog.
Most of the party were able to knock out pretty easily while one remained awake. Grog couldn't get (y/n) out of his head. She was everything he could've ever wanted, but judging by their interaction downstairs, he didn't know how to approach his feelings.
The goliath nudged Scanlan awake. The gnome groaned, looking up at his friend with tired eyes. "Ugh, Grog, it's late. What do you want?"
"I need to ask you something," Grog explains, "do you uh...do you believe in love at first sight?"
Upon learning that this was a romantic matter, Scanlan sat up from his cot. "Well buddy," he began, "if you look just a little bit to your left you'll have your answer."
The duo moved their vision towards the sleeping form of Pike.
"I don't get it," Grog responds.
Scanlan refrains from smacking his own forehead at his friend's utter obliviousness. "Yes, Grog. Yes I do."
"Okay. And say you want to try to impress the person you're in love with. What would you do?"
"Well, going by my own talents, I'd most likely spin a heartfelt song for them. But that's me. You need to think about what you're good at."
"Hmm...fighting, smashing things...fighting...and drinking. Oh my gods. Scanlan I think I just had an amenity."
"I think you mean epiphany," Scanlan commented.
"Yeah that too"
With the situation supposedly remedied, the two friends returned to their sleep.
--
The next morning, Grog conspired with his two gnome friends on how to get (y/n)'s attention. The plan was for Grog to be the next person to challenge the object of his affection to a drinking contest.
The downside was that Grog was in no position to talk to her when out of his element. Instead, Scanlan was sent as a singing telegram to the daughter of the blacksmith.
Scanlan entered the smith's shop, its walls and shelves filled to the brim with well-grafted weapons and armor. His eyes first take notice of a towering dragonborn working at the forge.
"Um, hey there," he said awkwardly.
The draconic male stepped away from his tools and greeted him saying, "good day, my small friend. How can I help ye today?"
"I come on behalf of a lovestruck goliath."
"Well you may tell them I'm flattered but I'm already married."
"Well actually his affections are directed to your daughter."
"(y/n)? How unforeseen. Very well. (y/n)!"
(y/n) enters the shop from the back door dressed in full artificer's regalia. "What is it, dad?"
"This gnome apparently has a message for you from a friend."
(y/n) looked curiously as Scanlan retrieved his lute.
♫ my dear beauty with the golden scales,
meet me tonight for a round of ale
I've seen the might of your drinking skills
let's see who has the greater will ♫
(y/n) was stunned. Never had she received a challenge in song form and certainly not one with romantic undertones.
With an intrigued chuckle she says, "tell your friend that I happily accept his challenge."
"Great," Scanlan said with a grin, "thank you. I'll be on my way now."
Scanlan exited the shop just as (y/n)'s mother entered.
"What was all that now?" she asked.
"Our daughter has a date," the father answered.
--
Later in the evening, everyone gathered at the tavern to witness the challenge. Grog was sitting at the bar, feeling anxious. Pike gave her friend some words of encouragement. In that moment, Grog decided he needed a starter. He ordered himself a pint, filling his body with liquid courage. The townsfolk announced (y/n)'s arrival at the tavern.
"Alright," she said with confidence, "who among you has challenged me?"
Swallowing down his starter, Grog stood up and said awkwardly, "uh, that'd be me."
"Oh yes, I remember you from the night before. I'm flattered by your rather unorthodox message."
Grog felt a warmth in his face that for once in his life didn't come from booze.
"I see you've already given yourself a head start," (y/n) commented, noticing the large mug in her challenger's hand. Grog embarrassingly tosses aside his mug (nearly clocking some poor soul in the face) before moving to one of the large tables. (y/n) took her seat across from him as the barkeep came over.
"House rules," they began, "first to puke or pass out loses."
"Good luck," (y/n) says.
The barkeep brings over the first round and the battle of the booze begins. The two appear equally matched as stacks of empty mugs begin to pile up. (y/n) seems to move at a slightly faster pace. A half-hour passes by as (y/n) takes the time to compliment Grog.
"I must say," the gold scaled girl says, "I don't think I've had anyone keep up with me. Color me impressed."
Grog tries to keep his composure at her words, focusing on his drinking.
Tensions rose at the top of the hour, the locals cheering for (y/n) while Vox Machina (specifically Pike and Scanlan) calling out to Grog.
"This goes on much longer and tavern will be completely cleaned out," Percy commented.
"Wouldn't be the first time," Vex added.
"Indeed."
The tavern was in fact on their last barrel. (y/n) winced slightly while promising to heavily compensate for the amount of ale she and Grog had been running through. She looks to her opponent who has been double fisting for the past few rounds. With a slip of the hand, (y/n) toppled over, knocking her head on the table.
There was a long silence as all gazed in awe. The townsfolk were in shock as their long time champion lay buzzed out on the floor.
"Fuck yeah!" Scanlan hollered, breaking the silence.
"Woo, Grog!" Pike shouted out. They rushed to their victorious friends.
Grog himself was almost in disbelief. He didn't feel like he had to win the challenge. To him, he had already won back when (y/n) had spoken her words of admiration. On the subject of (y/n), she slowly came to, groaning in pain.
"Pike," Grog gestured to his friend. The cleric understood what he was trying to communicate.
Pike wanders over to the inebriated dragonborn and uses her magic to heal her.
(y/n) came to asking, "What happened?"
"You...you lost," one of the bystanders answered, still shocked.
"Lost?" she turned to Grog who gave an awkward wave. She chuckled and said walked over to him. "I seem to have been bested. I congratulate you Mr..."
"Uh Grog. Grog Strongjaw."
"Grog; another word for ale. I like it."
The smitten giant responded with a goofy smile, making (y/n) giggle.
"Damn," she said looking at the time, "we've been here a while. Guess I'll see ya around." (y/n) took her leave, smiling back at the tavern.
--
After spending two nights in town, Vox Machina was ready to press on. They were about to exit when they heard a familiar voice behind them.
"Wait!" The group looked to see (y/n) rushing towards them. She had an unknown object tucked under her arm. Grog's face flushed as she approached them. "I just talked to the innkeeper," she said, "He told me that you were on your way out and that you paid for ale."
"A gentleman must be the one to pay the bill," Percy stated.
She nodded to the gunslinger and turned to Grog, presenting the object him. A gauntlet to be worn on the wrist, forged with obsidian.
"To yesterday's champion," she spoke, "I've been saving it for two-and-a-half years, waiting to gift it to whoever could out drink me."
Grog accepted the gift with awe-stricken eyes.
"It might be a bit small on you but I'm sure you can have it resized."
Grog snatched the bag of holding from Vax and quickly tucked the piece of armor inside.
"One more thing..." (y/n) gestured for him to lean down at which point she pressed a kiss to his cheek. "Until we meet again."
(y/n) trekked back into town as Scanlan hollered, "Alright Grog!" The goliath didn't answer.
"Grog?" Pike spoke. The group looked to see that Grog's eyes were glazed over and he had a slight smile on the corner of his mouth.
"Oh great," Percy spoke, "she stole his heart and his brain."
"What was left of it anyways," Vex added.
It took the whole of Vox Machina to pull Grog along as the band of adventurers continued onward.

i have some theories for jojolands
This is in regards to Dragona Joestar and how they might become the main antagonist.
I came up with a few scenarios, some of which can be combined together, as to how Dragona would end up going against their brother.
Tumblr media
Dragona becomes a villain to enact revenge against Jodio. Jodio does something that harms Dragona or goes so far with something that Dragona wants revenge against their own brother. It could be that Jodio had a justified reason for his actions but Dragona refuses to accept it, or maybe Jodio was framed for his actions, but nothing can convince Dragona to believe their brother's truth. Regardless, the two siblings have a fallout over this, and Dragona probably convinces the rest of the gang to turn against Jodio or leaves the group to spend the series sending enemies to Jodio before finally facing him. Maybe, we find out how influential Dragona really was in the crime world and how they use it to their advantage against Jodio. In this scenario, Dragona sees Jodio as someone who must be punished and killed for what he did, whether he even did it or not, and either never knows the truth or knows the truth too late. This feels like the most obvious, easiest ending that could result in an expected fight between family members given what we know about the siblings.
Dragona becomes a villan by trying to save the world from Jodio. Whether it be that Jodio's actions become harder to justify or Dragona ends up being manipulated or brainwashed by someone else during the series, they see that their brother is purely evil and cannot be saved or changed with just love or reasoning. Selflessly and possibly through an epiphany, they feel obligated to apprehend their sibling for the good of the world, maybe feeling regret that they were unable to prevent it from the start, and now need to stop Jodio at all cost. This ending doesn't need to be driven by revenge but it could be a contributing factor that led to the ultimate fight. Dragona ends up dying but thinking they were doing the right thing the whole time and never realizing they caused more harm than good in the end. Maybe, they thought they succeeded in turning Jodio into a good person and dies believing they succeeded. Whether Jodio forgives them for never realizing the truth is up to interpretation.
Dragona becomes a villain because they simply snapped and self destructs. Compared to Jodio, Dragona seems to be the most cautious and, as an older sibling to a psychopath, spent their childhood being expected to be the responsible older one and dealing with Jodio's behavior. They are the older sibling trying to keep everyone in line. Dragona spent years pleasing people, keeping out of trouble, and taking accountability for Jodio and others in situations where someone should have taken their own accountability instead. Years of enduring this life can cause anyone to eventually break. Once they snapped, we get to see a more deranged, insane version of Dragona that is different from what they used to be: more unpredictable, risky, sadistic possibly, and unstoppable. Jodio is no longer a brother but instead a competition, a pest that needs to be beaten and destroyed at all costs. What the siblings are competing could be one or many things: money, a parent's approval, a reputation, etc. In this scenario, Dragona takes more of a Dio role and Jodio probably becomes more like Jonathan instead.
Dragona dies but their clone is created and becomes a villain instead. Based on an observation with The MATTEKUSASAI; no clone of the Stand has been perfect or an exact copy if you think about it. Dragona dies halfway through the story in this case but is then "ressurected" as a clone. Whether this was Usagi's intention or a flaw that simply could not be controlled, this new version of Dragona is mentally altered to consider Jodio as an enemy meant to be betrayed and destroyed rather than an ally that was their brother. Maybe, they are an exact replica that simply showed Dragona's true intentions hidden underneath their predecessor's persona. Maybe, they are reprogrammed to destroy Jodio at all cost. Alternatively, the clone could have been made against Dragona's will, possibly a zombie that still has Dragona's consciousness begging to rest in peace, and Jodio needs to end the clone's life; in that case, the clone might become an enemy by simply wanting to exist as their own and fight for that chance at living.
Dragona has always been the villain and Jodio is the real victim. Note that the story has been mostly through Jodio's eyes and he seems to think highly of Dragona. But, it brings a possibility that Dragona isn't who we think they ate. In this scenario, we learn that Jodio's ASPD diagnosis was switched with Dragona's diagnosis, either accidentally or intentionally, which would explain why the results seem sketchy for a 15-year-old but not if Dragona took the test at 18 and the results switched. Dragona is revealed to be the real psychopath with ASPD who is capable of hiding their true emotions and manipulating others while appearing to be the "sane" one in comparison- us readers won't pick it up until it is too late. Dragona secretly spent years making Jodio feel bad because of his supposed issues and this was actually the long game for Dragona to pursue "the mechanisms" for themselves. Jodio is the one abused by a psychopathic sibling instead and is torn between loving Dragona or letting them go. Even after the end of the series and knowing the truth, guilt is inevitable but Jodio may be able to find his peace after surviving.
One of the things I noticed with Dragona is how similar they are to Jonathan in a sense that both are the older of the siblings and both have some sort of code-of-conduct they follow; Jonathan aspires to be a "gentleman" and Dragona apprehends their teammates when they do certain actions like steal from Iko Iko or Rohan's house. Jonathan particularly ceases all good faith towards those he deems irredeemable or pure evil; who knows if Dragona has a similar philosophy as well and Jodio doesn't become an exception.
Anyways, having Dragona as a villain would really be a game-changer, as it goes against the sort of family-bond theme that the Joestars have but does call back to how the feud between Jonathan and Dio led to the events up to part 6 .

wot reread: towers of midnight (chap 27-38)
spoilers for towers of midnight
This gritted teeth reluctance of Egwene's, where she knows that they can't afford to face the Seanchan now because the Last Battle is more important -- this is the vibe. This is the energy. We need more of this when talking about the Seanchan.
2. Anyway, Egwene is trying to reach out to Rand's allies to convince them that he needs to be convinced to stop his plan of breaking the seals. This section works better than the earlier ones imo because Darlin, etc. doesn't know about the big epiphany and Rand's shift in perspective, so instead of another person reassuring Egwene that Rand is ~much better now~, we get a more measured response that talks about loyalty, and the Seanchan to the west, and that they all knew that the Dragon Reborn would likely go mad before the Last Battle so this shouldn't really be a surprise and he's still the only horse in the race.
3. They receive word that the watchtowers of the Borderlands are beginning to go dark -- a sign that the Last Battle is truly beginning. Egwene learns that the Hall is meeting without her, and goes to the meeting. After some Aes Sedai political wrangling, Egwene manages to get them to trade authority over the armies with authority in dealing with monarchs and rulers, aka Rand, who rules Illian. She also does some important loophole closing to make it harder for another secretive group like the Black Ajah to depose an Amrylin as happened to Siuan.
4. There is a certain amount of hilarious irony in Faile being hurt over Morgase using a different name and hiding her noble identity given the way Faile entered into this story (though Faile does realize this herself after a moment). But then she admits to herself that her real worry is that Morgase, as a fair woman, might fairly decide that Perrin really is a murderer, and they would have to deal with the consequences of that decision.
5. While a bubble of evil attacks Perrin's camp, Morgase and Galad are talking off in the Whitecloak camp. Morgase thinks about how she wishes she'd done a better job teaching Galad about shades of gray, so perhaps he wouldn't have been drawn into the Children of Light, with their black and white philosophy. She does her best to impart some shades of gray teachings to him now: good people can make mistakes sometimes and that's as important as knowing if a crime itself happened (basically that intent does matter when judging for a crime). She does not quite convince him, because... idk we need to draw out Perrin's plot more I guess. And the bubble of evil means that Perrin is asking for more time on his side too.
6. Okay, so Tam hasn't left at this point. But Perrin has been casually talking about how Elayne is planning to marry Rand*, which means it should be buzzing around the camp as gossip, which means that Tam should already know about Elayne when he first meets Min in Tear. There was zero indication about this in the Tam scenes in TGS but since it seems obvious that Tam should already know, I'm going to imagine/pretend that he talked to either Min or zen!Rand (once he returned) about these rumors about the queen of Andor wanting to marry Rand.
Anyway, Tam tells Perrin that he needs to leave on special ~Aes Sedai business~ but that he's proud of him. I guess that's nice. And then he leaves, off to go be in the ending of TGS and nearly get killed by his son. So that's where Perrin is in the timeline.
*this really does illustrate how infrequently Perrin thinks of Rand and how quickly he manages to dispel his visions of Rand compared to Mat, since he apparently has NOT been watching Rand constantly having sex with Min in recent months -- or maybe the ~Pattern~ just knows that Mat is more interested in seeing Rand during those times than Perrin is? Because Perrin actually DOES know Min and Elayne both separately -- he spent that winter between TGH & TDR spending a lot of time with Min and she even confessed to him that she was fated to fall in love with Rand (though didn't know if he would love her back), and he was in Tear when Elayne and Rand were together as well -- so you'd think that he'd consider what it might mean for Elayne's marriage hopes that Min stole her boyfriend, since he doesn't know about the shared love confessions, yet the only thing he mentioned as a potential objection to the marriage is that Rand might be too busy ~conquering his next nation~. I mean, I guess he could have been making poly assumptions but that's really the sort of thing that maybe should have actually been in his thoughts at some point, lol.
7. Haha, Elayne finding a loophole in the "required bed rest for a week" rule laid down by her midwife. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 ilu Elayne. Anyway, she's here to see a demonstration of Aludra's dragons! It's interesting that Mat explained to Elayne that Aludra's main motivation is to get revenge against the Seanchan, which potentially means that he told her about the Seanchan destroying the Tanchico chapterhouse and murdering & enslaving the Illuminators there. But, yes, the first public demonstration of the 'dragons' (aka cannons) is a success. After agreeing to give her all the resources that she requires, Elayne makes Aludra swear that she will keep the creation of these a secret, but Birgitte feels anxious about the idea of them anyway. "The world just changed."
8. Perrin's crash course in How To Wolfbrother: Dream Edition continues. This time, he's learning how not to be afraid of himself as Young Bull and how to confidently control the wolf dream around him when he's inside it. Over a handful of days. This is the first time Perrin finds out that this is the dreamplace of 'everyone' and not just wolf-related people. Hopper brings Perrin to a city so that he can walk through the 'fear dreams' of the people living there, so that he can do an accelerated crash course in How To Wolfbrother. And I do find all this wolf-development good but... wow, it feels so belated. Mat got his war memories in TSR and struggled with them over the course of TFoH but had basically accepted them by LoC. Perrin found out he was a wolfbrother in EotW and is only now finishing up his coursework in How To Wolfbrother.
9. It's interesting that the wolves are waiting on Dragonmount for Rand to face his moment of decision between destruction and life. We've only had hints of how connected the wolves feel to the Light & to the Dragon Reborn. Kinda wish we'd gotten more. One of the downsides of how Jordan kept dividing up the storylines and separating everyone, I suppose, plus the general theme of Team Light having rotten communication skills and keeping secrets from each other.
I really do feel like Sanderson rushed Rand too much in TGS and then idled with him in ToM and I think it would have worked better to have the ruthless Rand arc paced out more with the other characters in ToM rather than climaxing at the end of TGS. I'm also kinda... eh on whether or not we needed Perrin there ~in spirit~ with Rand on Dragonmount? I'm not sure we needed an outside PoV of this scene when we had an internal one already? I like the descriptions well enough but I am tired of always seeing Rand from the outside in ToM. But, anyway, Rand chooses life and the wolves all celebrate. It's kinda funny that the wolves are so into Rand and he... barely has any clue that wolves are related to the Last Battle in any way? I don't think anyone (Perrin) has mentioned that he's a celebrity to the wolves.
10. I am more than halfway done with ToM and I feel like barely anything has happened yet, lol. "Let's all catch up to Rand's moment of being awesome" didn't work for CoT and I'm not sure why Sanderson decided to repeat that again for ToM. There are definitely some chapters and PoVs that I am enjoying but overall this book feels like filler half the time, which is a WILD choice, bro.
11. Mat is dicing, and it seems to partly be a vibe check to see if his luck is with him (see, this is what I meant earlier about how Elayne's supernatural guarantee is more guaranteed than Mat's is). Strike nine-point-three as Mat notices the wide smile of a "raven-haired beauty". He is now preemptively telling (some) women that he's married in hopes that they will do the work of not being flirty rather than him doing it. Strike ten-point-three, as Mat regretfully thinks about how the innkeeper's wife is very pretty but her husband would assault him if he looked at her for too long so he only glances at her briefly.
12. He's been walking around with his face uncovered all day, hoping to draw the gholam to him now that he has a plan on how to deal with it. It works after a while and the two of them fight (in streets that are being kept clear by the Band keeping other people away). The gholam is able to get his medallion away from him, but Mat has borrowed two of the copies from Elayne and discovers that they still work against the gholam. Ah, and the secret weapon is finding a way to trick it/back it into falling into the Gateway created by one of the Kin. This is a good chapter, for the most part, except for some minor things here and there, that are mostly annoyances that were pre-baked into Mat's new characterization from Jordan in CoT & KoD. The gholam thing unfortunately does feel like it turned more into a personal vendetta, which I think is a shame, but I'm glad that channeling was an essential part of defeating it. Mat has, since parting from his slaver wife, now worked extensively with free channelers -- Teslyn saved his life against the gholam before, and it's Elayne connecting him to the Kin (who had to escape Altara to avoid being enslaved by his wife's people) that saves him here and helps him defeat the gholam.
13. Strike eleven-point-three as Mat notes one of the Kinswomen who is plump and pretty and would "fit nicely on his knee".
14. Yikes on bikes that Mat wants to give a slaver, who is hostile to channelers and who wants to torture and enslave them, a medallion that would protect her against channeling (though this plan of his does make an asshole move that Tuon pulls later somewhat ironic). Though he isn't aware of the copies' flaws, it sounds like, and one of those flaws is that they protect against some weaves but not against the most powerful, so Elayne could, for example, still balefire Tuon's ass if she were wearing one of the copies.
Also, I bet that Mat did NOT tell Elayne that he was planning to give her hard work to a slaver who would be willing to torture, degrade, and mind-break her if given the chance. Honestly, once Elayne does find out who Mat is married to, she has every right to feel completely betrayed by him. He used her to aid someone who would be willing to torture her and the people under her protection. And he's so deeply in denial about Tuon (thinking of her ~as a person~ as completely separate from her position ~as a powerful enforcer of slavery in a slaver society~ and behaving as if 'protecting Tuon' doesn't support the Seanchan Empire in any way -- this is the bullshit that his "your empire is my enemy but you aren't" double-thinking allows to him to believe despite it being nonsense) that it doesn't even occur to him that what he's doing here is a complete betrayal of the trust that Elayne has placed in him. And after Elayne saved his ass here too -- both with the copies of the medallion, and also because she and Birgitte are the ones who came up with this plan for him.
...I wonder if the medallion copies would prevent a sul'dam from using an a'dam, since (unlike the original) they do not allow the wearer to channel while wearing them. It seems logical that they would block the link created by the a'dam.
15. Anyway, Mat is basically pulling the exact same "I am on both sides and neither at once" routine with Tuon & the Westlanders that Gawyn pulled with the loyalist Aes Sedai and Egwene, so I can only hope that this means that Mat will come to his senses post-canon the way that Gawyn came to his senses and picked the right side once he learned that Egwene was imprisoned by the White Tower. There are a few easy ways that a post-canon narrative could make that happen.
Honestly, it's more likely that Tuon will grossly violate Mat's sense of morality past the bounds of what he can take than that she won't, given what we've seen of her personality and beliefs. If they have multiple kids in the future and Tuon raises them in the Imperial Seanchan way, Mat will rebel against having his kids sabotage and undermine each other to attempts to appeal to empress dearest; if he sees someone in a collar that he recognizes than this may bring things home to him in a way that it seems like he's forcing himself to ignore when the slaves are all strangers; if they have a channeler kid who Tuon tries to collar, etc. Lots of things could cross the line, and all of those things seem perfectly in her character as has been shown thus far in the books.
The interesting thing to me here is that Mat gets to fence-straddle without getting the fandom hate that Gawyn got for it. Is it simply because the reader got to know Mat for much longer before he started his fence-straddling ways in CoT? Is it because Mat has a more amusing internal narration so people are willing to forgive him for more than they would other characters? Is it because of who gets hurt because of the fence-straddling?
Gawyn's fence-straddling meant that he didn't help Rand during/after Dumai's Wells and he also killed some number of Warders during the coup. Mat's fence-straddling means that so far he's been complicit in forty Aes Sedai getting enslaved by the Seanchan plus an unknown number of injuries and deaths, and he's currently plotting to give Tuon a tool that would help her enslave more Aes Sedai (even if he chooses to be in denial over the fact that she could use it that way).
16. General Bashere and his army finally arrive with Asha'man to give Ituralde some relief. Rand shows up too, a little bit later, and apologizes to Ituralde for how he has failed in making peace with the Seanchan and in giving him the support that he needed. Rand goes out alone to kill a massive wave of Shadowspawn by himself.
17. Rand processes that he was angry during the recent fight with the Shadowspawn... and that that's OKAY. He's allowed to be angry as long as he processes and controls that anger appropriately and doesn't lash out at his allies. Very important step!
lol we also get updated on Min's Old Tongue prophecy analysis project re: Callandor. It's... lol, whatever. I guess it gives Min something to do.
Once again, I wish so much that we were actually in Rand's head and not just getting him filtered through other people's PoVs.
18. So Nynaeve has given a full report of her time with Rand to the Amyrlin & Siuan (who is clearly still one of Egwene's main advisors at this point? She's the only person in the meeting with Egwene and Nynaeve). She is capable of communication, just not with Rand. *sigh*
Nynaeve defends Rand here against Egwene (she says that if the Asha'man's behavior is Rand's responsibility, then the Aes Sedai's behavior is Egwene's responsibility), but was never willing to tell him anything when she was with him. The rest of the scene is them sketching out their plan to take out Mesaana (using Egwene as bait again). Nynaeve suggests working with Rand, but Egwene shoots the idea down.
19. Gawyn is just... casually hanging out with Elayne in Caemlyn? We didn't actually get to see their reunion? Well, that's disappointing. Gawyn guesses that Rand is the father of Elayne's kids and she mentions that if he is, it would be smart not to tell anyone about it, as it would make them targets. Gawyn and Elayne talk some various things through re: Rand and Egwene and, in the end, Elayne helps Gawyn let go of his hate of Rand. She releases from his obligations in Caemlyn, so that he can fully devote himself to Egwene & the White Tower. It's a sweet scene, honestly. It gets quoted sometimes as Elayne doing a Take That at Gawyn over classism but that's not really the approach she's taking at all with him.
20. While he's here, he takes out the dagger that was dropped by the assassin and examines it, getting a started reaction from one of the nearby 'Kin', who is actually one of the ex-damane (Marille), who recognizes the dagger and what it means. He finds out that the Bloodknives are Seanchan assassins who are sent personally by the Empress. Suicide troops left behind to murder Aes Sedai, in this case. They've murdered several women already, and those deaths are also ones that Mat is complicit in. We get a reminder here that "the Seanchan treated their damane worse than animals" as Marille cowers and whimpers when Gawyn's voice raises.
(And Tuon would happily do this kind of emotional damage to Mat's sister Bode, or to Egwene, or Elayne, or Aviendha, or Nynaeve, or Moiraine, etc. -- though that does remind me of how it, in retrospect, it does seem like the composition of Mat's party that escaped Ebou Dar was another deliberate choice to shield Mat from the true horror of what the Seanchan do to these women -- he has never met an native Seanchan ex-damane, who has had to reconstruct herself from the ground up after having been taught since fifteen or sixteen years old that she is a subhuman monster. But having someone like that around during the circus journey would have been an even stronger indictment of Tuon as a person and of her society as a whole, so potentially that's why Jordan avoided it)
21. So GAWYN gets to hear the explanation here that all sul'dam are capable of learning to channel, something that no one has ever gotten around to telling Rand. Kaisea, the ex-sul'dam (who was also Low Blood, it sounds like) that Gawyn meets here, is insisting that she belongs in the collar now. If Elayne is so sure that it will undermine Seanchan culture for this news to spread, then it's baffling to me that she isn't spreading the news! This should be a major (deliberately planted) rumor, especially in cities and villages near or across the Seanchan border (it's entirely possible that this was originally part of Jordan's plan for the Seanchan, before he decided to slow-walk them starting in CoT, for the sake of the outriggers that will never happen).
Gaywn learns that the ter'angreal rings that the Bloodknives wear gives them the ability to blur near shadows but it comes at great cost -- once activated, death will come to them, usually in a couple of weeks and at a month at the longest. Around now is when he gets the message from Egwene to return to the Tower. Instead of doing so, he has the knife sent back, with the message that the assassin is Seanchan (and the details of how they work). Also, just as the Seanchan declare their army Ever Victorious (and their empress ~may she live forever~) they also say that the Bloodknives are impossible to survive if you're their target. You can always count on the Seanchan to declare that they are The Best and Most Perfect at everything, despite the evidence being against them. From what I've seen in the books, the only thing they're actually 'the best' at is propaganda (though both of those traits -- claiming to be superior and only really being superior at SAYING they're superior -- are pretty common for fascist-style governments, so I guess that's all true to form).
22. Perrin is STILL planning to disband the armies that he has gathered (after the trial, before he goes back to Rand). wtf dude! I don't care if you don't want to lead them; hand them over to Rand and HE can lead them. He has stopped complaining about leading them publicly, at least.
23. Perrin has figured out that there's a connection between the weird dome in the wolfdream and the inability of channelers to create Gateways in that same area in the waking world. Oops, there's a section here where Faile's PoV becomes Perrin's for a few paragraphs and then swaps back to Faile's, without the normal spacing markers that the books use for PoV swaps in the same chapter.
24. Conclusion of the trial: Perrin "killed unlawfully" but did not "murder" the Children of the Light, because the Children did not have authorization to act within Andor's borders, so Morgase is treating it as a clash between two mercenary bands. Then she throws the sentencing to Galad. Galad asks if Perrin will stand by the sentencing, Perrin says that he will... but only after the Last Battle. Galad agrees to those terms and says he will name the sentence itself later.
(in light of our Dain Bornhald casting news -- this is the culmination of his own series-long arc, where he learns and begins to believe that Perrin was not responsible for his father's death)
24. Tonight is the night that Egwene plans to face off with Mesaana in TAR. They have their trap set. Egwene also asks Silviana to send Gawyn another letter requesting his return but to make sure that she asks this time instead of telling. Egwene would probably have had more success if she'd written the letter herself, lol.
25. The frustrating thing about the Whitecloak trial being the trigger for Perrin's character arc climax here is how he has committed much worse deeds since then and not regretted them. I don't care about the results of his Whitecloak trial. I want him on trial for selling two hundred women into slavery! Anyway, he's heading into the wolfdream to try to kill Slayer, while Faile is in charge of handling the retreat through the Gateways in the waking world. He isn't able to kill Slayer, but he finds the dreamspike that was being used to prevent Traveling and starts traveling north with it, so that his people will be able to leave.
26. While Nynaeve keeps an eye on the fake location for the TAR meeting that is meant to draw out Mesaana, Egwene attends the real meeting, which is between Aes Sedai, Wise Ones, and (for the first time) a handful of Windfinders. We know that Egwene's big goal is that she would like all women who can channel to be 'tied' to the White Tower in some fashion, so I'm guessing this meeting is going to be an attempt at making that work. The Windfinders describe the White Tower taking people in a very poetic way: "The White Tower inhales but does not exhale -- that which is brought in is never allowed to leave." And the Wise Ones are feeling some solidarity with that vibe.
Egwene agrees with this point and says that they may have been wise to keep their abilities a secret, but then says that the White Tower does have some knowledge that they do not... and they begin to work out a potential bargain. Accepted being sent to learn from Wise Ones or Windfinders... and apprentices being sent to learn from Aes Sedai and then being allowed to return to their people instead of being required to stay with the White Tower. It feels like she's taking the lesson that she saw with Nynaeve in the Testing here and applying it to the Aiel & Atha'an Miere. She also agrees that the ter'angreal that belong to the Aiel and to the Atha'an Miere can be agreed to belong to them, without the White Tower trying to snatch them away because they've declared ~all ter'angreal~ to be theirs.
27. They also talk here about the other 'common foe' that they share -- the Seanchan. That an alliance between their three groups will make it easier for them to stand together against the Seanchan. The bargain still needs to be ratified by each of the individual parties' people but it's a pretty sound one, imo.
28. Mesaana attacks the decoy location and, by ta'veren coincidence, Perrin's journey north with the dreamspike has led him to Tar Valon. And Gawyn manages to return to Tar Valon via Gateway right before the dreamspike arrives and cuts off the city.
29. Carlinya is dead OFF-SCREEN. She was killed by Mesaana off the page? That's so rude. tbh, I actually do wonder if maybe she was supposed to have been one of the women abducted by the Seanchan (due to the viewing that Min had) but no specific notes were left about it? While ravens are somewhat associated with the Dark One, they've been a lot more strongly associated with the Seanchan. But I do wonder if maybe the reason that ELAIDA was the named one who was taken by the Seanchan was so that the readers would be like "oh she deserves it tho" and not hold the Seanchan as accountable for their slave raid as they deserved to be, and as they might be if a non-hostile Aes Sedai were the featured one being abducted.
30. So Egwene, the Aes Sedai, & the Wise Ones are fighting Mesaana and the Black Ajah, while Perrin fights Slayer and Gawyn races to try to protect Egwene's sleeping body from the Seanchan Bloodknife assassin(s).
Nothing about this climax is impossible to do if Rand is still ruthless!Rand imo. He's not really related to what's happening here at all. Dragonmount could have happened after this and it would have been fine, story-wise. I'm feeling pretty strongly overall that it was a mistake to pull the trigger on Rand's epiphany back in TGS.
31. Perrin and his less than a week's worth of Accelerated How To Wolfbrother coursework vs Egwene's year-plus of training (since she started her dreamwalker training in the same book where Perrin & Faile got married, and they just had their anniversary), yet we're supposed to buy that he's become Epic Good at it.
I mean, Sanderson really was caught in a Catch-22 with Perrin tbh, because of how Jordan had stalled Perrin's character arc out. He is SO FAR BEHIND the other characters at the start of TGS that he kinda has to do this accelerated sort of character arc, where he went from driving in reverse to jumping ahead so that he could be with the rest of the pack but... man, there's just Too Much Perrin in this book.
32. The big battle: Gawyn kills the Bloodknives (proving once again that the Seanchan talk of being The Most Superior is just talk) but almost dies in the process. Perrin moving the dreamspike here trapped Mesaana in place; Mesaana attempts to use the same trick on Egwene here that Nynaeve used on Moghedien, imagining an a'dam on here, but Egwene is able to force the thought away and the collar off again (using, in part, the hard-earned control of being Aes Sedai, but also her Dreamer abilities in TAR).
But again, here, we have the reminder of how fucking awful it is to be enslaved by the a'dam, as Egwene fights her panic about temporarily being collared. So again, the narrative has not forgotten how awful the Seanchan are... in the plotlines of the female characters. Egwene is able to take Perrin's "it's only a weave" thought about balefire and turn it into "it's only a piece of metal" about the a'dam. And she is able to turn her will against Mesaana and defeat her permanently. When Egwene wakes up, she finds the bloody scene with Gawyn and the dead Bloodknives, and she bonds Gawyn to save his life.
33. The nightmare that Perrin pulled Slayer into is someone dreaming in terror about the Last Battle. Perrin seems like he's potentially realizing here the full gravity of the Last Battle in this nightmare? Maybe when he wakes up, he'll stop trying to send away volunteers who want to fight in the Last Battle. He's able to use the nightmare to destroy the dreamspike but has to flee before he can kill Slayer; with Hopper's last dying thought to him to "seek Boundless".
That seems like a good place to stop, since there's a PoV change in the next chapter.

Ive had an idea for a fantasy/medieval fic, an epiphany if you will. (Forgive me if this is inaccurate from a historical standpoint; I was eepy and refused to do any research before getting 8 hours of sleep)
What if, in a kingdom of knights and peasants and royalty, there lived a feared (but kind and generous) king? A king who has leveled battlefields, mended relations between allies, and whose kingdom is so prosperous that all commonfolk live comfortably. Many have sought to wed the king. Suitors from various other kingdoms travel to a grand palace to only be met with of what looks to be several royal adivsers and... a jester?
Many suitors are in disbelief when said jester clad in a oversized jangly hat, checkered bodysuit, and a variety of barely-concealed pointy weapons, politely and very happily says, "No." Many nobles and knights are too stunned, but the rest like to voice their opinions in a way that isnt very pleasant..... just jangly blorbo that's courting the king and has to deal with unworthy suitors getting in the way.

Inspired by @mothnem and I’s discussion about an AU.
It started with Mata Nui gushing about his people, which for him is everybody in the GSR (so, including the xians / vortixx, people of Stelt, etc.). He’s also been living for more than few weeks on Bara Magna at this point.
From there the thought grew:
It’s not until months later, interacting with various of the local groups where he’s landed on Bara Magna, witnessing their politics, seeing how they’ve found solutions for some of their problems but also witnessing conflicts where no easy solutions exist
that Mata Nui has the epiphany that he hasn’t thought about how to integrate his people on Spherus Magna.
Mata Nui: realizes that many of his people - no matter the species - will be in desperate straits because of corruption, environmental devastation, wars, politics, and so on, which mirrors what many Spherus Magnans have gone through so there will be mutual suspicion in some places because of fear of losing more to other people-
Mata Nui: realizes that there’ll be conflicts brewing because of past misunderstandings / wrongdoings / etc., which some people won’t forget about-
Mata Nui: realizes that the corrupt leaders who’ve caused many of the problems inside the GSR will also arrive on Spherus Magna-
Mata Nui: realizes that there’ll be massive diplomatic efforts needed to integrate the GSR population and ease relations between them and Spherus Magna, but also between GSR populations, and between Spherus Magna populations-
Mata Nui: realizes that he needs to be among the many people negotiating the peace because he is in some way one of the GSR’s leader and knows a lot about them-
Mata Nui: knows that he still doesn’t understand people well, and how much he still has to learn about them and how a community works, and that he needs allies and co-leaders and advisors and entertainment to ease tension, and-
Mata Nui, with feeling:
“Shit.” (*)
(There’ll be no leaving for another century-long nap.)
* That was the first time a GSR inhabitant used Bara Magna curses on Bara Magna / Spherus Magna.

Ship Bias (for Morty)?
Ship bias meme || Accepting !
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Canon-wise, I don't ship Morty with anyone, tbh. I do keep the crushes he has in my portrayal, but I don't care for any of them. No it even Jessica or his nameless girlfriend from the Vat of Acid episode.
All the ships I have for Morty have been developed through RP interactions and they all have taken some time to develop, which is something I love, because I'm a sucker for slow burns. And well, some are still on their way to develop, so they aren't actual ships yet.
Morty & Morty with @advnterccs: they are currently my OTP for Morty. I loved the way Rin and I built their relationship from best friends to mutual pining to crushes who have kissed each other but aren't together, to the moment they actually got together x'D Speaking of that, they had their first anniversary last New Year's Eve and damn, that's one of the longest ships I've ever had xD
Morty & Meg with @shctupmeg: they are sort of dating, but not official yet. I find it funny, because Meg had a crush on Morty all along, while he considered her just a dear friend. Tho, the moment she started to look elsewhere, he realised that maybe he did like her back that way x'D They had their ups and downs, but I think their relationship is maturing just right!
Morty & Fish with @imprvdente: Chloé and I had sort of started it with the idea that Morty and Fish would be BFF, but both our dumbasses ended up catching feelings xD This is another funny situation, because it's mutual pinning while they are both convinced that the other doesn't like them back. Will they ever get their shit together? Good question!
Morty & Marsha with @mnstcrsiiistcrs: Marsha sort of categorises as one of Morty's crushes. Cute, smart girl who gives him a smidgen of attention? Ofc he's gonna crush on her. There hasn't been any real ship talk, so for now I'm going to keep it as one-sided crush. Which is pretty much very IC for Morty xD
I don't have a 5th ship, because these four are the relationships I have for my Morty and who have taken a romantic turn, more or less. I guess the last mention could be Morty & Meg & Morty, since I have a polyship with Rin and Allie (which I adore with all my heart).
Tbh, I'd love for Morty to get another boyfriend. With Rin's Morty I wasn't able to delve into it, because we had the whole 'me from another timeline' thing to deal with and because out Mortys kind of saw our Ricks getting together and that gave them the epiphany they needed, but I want my Morty to experience bi panic the moment he realises that oh shit, he likes boys too xD

epiphany. | morro x reader
Life with one of Ninjago’s saviors led you to several situations that you never would have expected to encounter. From evil, talking snake warriors to robot soldiers...Ninjago has seen a lot. You’ve seen enough to know that the ninja manage to find both enemies and allies alike in nearly every nook and cranny of the city. You’ve witnessed your fair share of weird, and by this point, it had all become somewhat normal.
You don’t particularly mind it, but oftentimes you find a small part of yourself craving that old sense of normalcy that you used to have – when it was just you and Morro while he had been training. Of course, you’re happy that he’s been doing so well, but the constant worry and stress has weighed on the two of you. With his missions came a sense of lingering fear that hovered over you, no matter how hard you tried to distract yourself.
You know that Morro can get irritated at your constant doting, but you can’t help it. He bottled far too much up, and more than a few times you had caught him trying to hide an injury or repress a concern he held. After all the time that the two of you have shared together, he’s still scared to be vulnerable around you.
And, if you’re being honest with yourself, you’re running out of ways to let him know that it’s okay for him to let his guard down around you. You’ve tried everything that you can think of – telling him, easing him into conversation, letting him have space...
You sigh, entering your kitchen as you check the time on your phone. It’s almost time for him to be home.
Anxiety pools in your stomach as you go about cleaning up the kitchen, thoughts darting between concerns. This can’t be healthy for the two of you. You need to find some way to fix it.
But what could you do? Morro is going to be tired when he gets home. What could you do that wouldn’t be too overwhelming?
As you finish up, an idea occurs to you. It’s not too over the top and would give the two of you a chance for some much-needed quality time.
Your plan doesn’t take much preparing – just gathering the necessary items and moving them to the bathroom, deciding to wait on the water so that it won’t get cold.
A few minutes later, you hear the door opening followed by the sound of Morro kicking his shoes off and shutting the door. Emerging from the bathroom quietly, you listen as Morro heaves an annoyed sigh as he drops his keys on the table. You elect to remain silent for a moment in an attempt to gauge his mood.
You peek into the hallway to find your boyfriend there, hair disheveled and lacking its usual ponytail. His dark eyes are sunken, face blank as he sets his wallet next to his keys. Yeah, he must have had a rough day.
“Hi, babe,” you coo cautiously, gently slipping your arms around his torso and pressing your cheek against his shoulder blade.
“Hey,” he mumbles, placing one of his hands atop yours.
“Rough day?” you inquire softly, slinking away slightly in case he needs a little bit of space.
He nods, running his fingers through his hair. Something about his clouded stare makes you think that there’s more to it than a typical rough day. The fact that his hair is down leads you to the realization that he probably has a headache.
“Go wait for me in the bathroom,” you say, deciding that you’ll bring him some painkillers.
“Huh? Why?” he wonders.
“You’ll see,” you reply, stepping into the kitchen so that you can fill a glass with water. “Now go.”
He obliges with no argument, only adding to your suspicions as you snatch a few painkillers from a cabinet before making your way to the bathroom.
You find Morro sitting on the edge of the tub quietly, staring at something in the distance. You enter, closing the door behind you.
“Here, take these,” you say, dropping the pills in his hand and giving him the glass.
He frowns, staring at them before looking up at you. “How did you know?”
“You always have your hair down when you have a headache,” you state, smiling softly.
He huffs in amusement before gulping them down. “Yeah. Guess so. Thanks.”
“Of course,” you mumble, watching as he swallows and sets the glass on the sink counter. You smile softly, taking a moment to turn on the water. You wait for it to warm up before plugging the drain.
“What are you doing?” he wonders.
“I was thinking we could take a bath together,” you admit. “But, if you want to be alone, that’s okay too. Whatever you want to do, babe.”
“Stay,” he grunts, sneaking his arms around your waist and pressing his face into your tummy. You giggle, running your hands through his hair.
“Okay, I’ll stay,” you reply. “Come on, let’s get undressed.”
Upon hearing this, he separates from you. You go to step away, but he catches your wrist.
“What is it?” you ask.
“Let me,” he replies, gently pushing your hands to the sides. Curiosity piqued, you remain quiet as you observe him.
Morro’s gaze shifts to your shirt. You study him as he slips his hands underneath, pressing them against the skin of your stomach. It’s then you realize how cold his hands are.
A few seconds later, they settle on your waist, but eventually they move to pull your shirt over your head, standing up as he does so. He lets the fabric flutter to the ground, forgotten.
The cold air pierces the skin casing your torso, causing you to shudder. The warmth of Morro’s body easily sweeps the cold away, though – especially when his forehead comes to rest against yours.
“I love you,” he mumbles, voice uncharacteristically quiet as he gazes at you.
“I love you too,” you reply, bringing your hands to his neck. “Tell me if you need anything, okay? I’ll listen if you need me to, I’ll give you space...whatever you need.”
He nods, hand slipping behind your neck so that he can pull you forward, allowing him to chastely kiss your forehead. You close your eyes in response, wondering what he’s thinking about to make him act like this. These past few minutes alone have made more progress than you have in the past few days.
You watch as Morro separates from you slightly, taking a second to pull his shirt off. You immediately go to lay your head on his shoulder, fingers tracing over the scars littered across his skin.
Morro seems to notice that the water is high enough, so he separates from you in order to turn the faucet off. You take the opportunity to undress fully, also putting all the dirty clothes in a pile for the time being.
Morro undresses too, tossing the articles atop the pile. You take a moment to snatch something from the counter while he’s not looking.
It’s an opaque, gray plastic bag. After tossing the bag, you hide its contents behind your back as you step in the tub. Morro follows you, eyeing your arms with a suspicious glance.
“What do you have?” he wonders, staring at you playfully.
“Nothing,” you chirp, smiling softly. “Here, let me wash your hair.”
He seems to shrug the matter off as he sits down with his back towards you. You kneel, leaning over his shoulder so that you can drop the mystery item in front of him.
“Really?” Morro grumbles, eyeing the rubber duck bobbing in the water in front of him.
You giggle slightly as he picks it up, examining it. “Isn’t that cute?”
“I guess,” he mumbles, studying it for a moment more before dropping it. The duck spins around for a second before steadying its momentum.
You hum softly as you squeeze shampoo into your hands, lathering it. Morro remains silent as you scrub his hair, taking your time. You’d missed playing with his hair. Once you’re finished with the shampoo, you reach for the nearby plastic cup on the edge of the tub. After dipping it in the water to fill it up, you hold it over his head.
“Close your eyes,” you warn, waiting a second before dumping it over. You repeat the process until the shampoo is out.
As you prepare the conditioner, Morro begins speaking again:
“Hey...I...I’m sorry,” he says quietly.
“Why?” you wonder. “You haven't done anything wrong.”
“But I’ve been distant...”
“Nothing necessarily wrong with that from time to time. I know that you need time to think sometimes.”
“But it was different. These last few weeks, I mean,” he corrects. “And...I think I’m finally ready to tell you why.”
“Whenever you’re ready,” you encourage, interest piqued as you condition his hair.
He’s silent for a split second before he begins:
“Well...we had this mission a few weeks ago. Probably more like a month by now,” he notes. “And prior to that, Sensei kept droning on and on about how I needed to redirect my anger. And at first, I just thought he was...well, you know. Saying his old-timer wise stuff like he always does, so I never really thought much of it.” Morro stops, tensing slightly. “That is...until the mission.”
You remain silent, rinsing his hair out again before he continues:
“I didn’t really tell you what all happened, and why I just...didn’t come back for a few days,” he mumbles.
You recall that week with a bitter frown, remembering how worried you’d been.
“We were called to respond to a terrorist threat,” he notes. “And, during it, I got shot.”
“Shot?!” you exclaim. “Wait...Morro. No...”
“I did,” he says as he turns to you, gesturing towards a scar on his chest. Your expression completely drops as you notice a subtle but new scar. You eye it in disbelief, gently caressing it with your fingers.
“You got fucking shot and didn’t tell me?!”
Morro takes your hands in his, prompting you to eye him. There’s no sassy response, no attitude cutting back at you. Just his eyes asking for you to listen.
“I’m sorry,” you mumble, anger creeping away.
He shakes his head. “No. It’s okay. It didn’t hit anything major, somehow. So, Zane patched it up and told me to rest. That’s why I stayed at the monastery there. Part of that was because I didn’t want you to worry. But...there was something else. Something that I was confused about and had to work through. Something I had to get advice on. Something that I’m only now beginning to understand.”
Morro’s grip on your hand tightens as he stares at you, continuing his explanation: “I saw my life flash before my eyes. I saw you – and that split second made me realize that I would lose everything I had. You. My friends, no matter how much they piss me off...everything. And I laid there, thinking about that same train of thought I had in the infirmary...just...picturing these different scenarios. What if I died before I could tell you what was wrong? What if I died and we were married? What if we decided to have kids, and then I died fighting? Just...all of these scenarios, and...it was so overwhelming, because I’ve never felt that kind of fear before. I never felt that fear before I met you.”
He takes a moment to inhale. “So, I asked Sensei Wu about it – what, exactly, is that fear? Why is it just coming up now? And he told me that it was a side effect of being in love. Just that...horrifying feeling of potentially never being able to go back to the ones you love.”
“Morro...” you trail off, unshed tears lining your eyes as you clutch onto his hand. All of this he was tormented with...and yet, you never suspected...
“That made me realize what Sensei meant,” he mumbles. “I have to direct my anger into protecting you and making sure that I can come home. I love what I do, yes, but...I love you more. You’re my priority.”
“Morro,” you whisper, going to hug him. He returns the embrace tightly as you bury your face in his neck. “I love you too. I love you so much. More than you could ever know.”
The two of you stay like that for a while, bare skin sticking together as the two of you simply embrace. Soon enough, you loosen your death grip on him, pulling back so that you can press a kiss to his lips.
After the two of you separate, you rest your forehead on his. His eyes are somewhat lidded as one his hands comes up to your cheeks.
“Hey,” he says suddenly, causing you to look at him. “Marry me?”
You can’t help but laugh, looping your arms around his neck as you nod. Ever the straightforward partner, he is. “Of course, jackass. Let’s do it.”
With that, you’re kissing him again. This time, he pushes you so that you’re against the wall, your arms around his neck again. You can’t help but smile as you kiss him.
“I have my mom’s ring that I’ll give you,” he notes, pressing another kiss to your temple. You curl up against his chest, linking one of your hands with his.
“Thank you,” you mumble, closing your eyes momentarily. It’s finally happening – you're engaged to the man you want to spend the rest of your life with. “I can’t wait.”
“Neither can I,” he admits.
“Just...be careful, please,” you request, peering up at him.
“I will. I won’t be as reckless as I used to be. I’ll make sure that I can come home.”
“Thank you. That makes me feel a bit better.”
“I feel better too,” he notes as the two of you sit up. “Okay, I’m getting cold. Let’s finish up, yeah?”
