Alina sighed as herself and Mal walked into a busy club to get away from their pursuers.
“It should be too crowded to notice us in this crowd, just keep the hood on.” Mal whispered to Alina as they moved closer to the stage where others stood, waiting for the performer.
“Want something?”
Alina turned and nodded as Mal gave a quick nod before walking to the bartender.
As alina went to stand near a corner of the crowded club she bumped into another young girl. “Aww, sorry..” “Ah, i’m sorry.”  They both apologized to one another.
“It’s alright, just a throbbing but it’ll go away with a drink.” The girl brushed it off and gave alina a smile.
“You look familiar..” Alina felt her heart drop, as the expression the girl made was of realization. “You’re her aren’t you?” Alina tensed up and lifted her hand in case she need to summon to stop the girl from doing something.
“It’s alright, your safe here, i just recommend the further booth over there if you don’t want to draw attention..” Alina followed the girls direction and saw an empty booth and nodded at her. “Thank you..?” She waited for a name.
“Y/n, i’m a performer here tonight.” She smiled and pointed towards the stage were drunks and many excited people stood waiting.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
People whispered to one another as they noticed the brooding, darkling who was accompanied with other grisha, they all had looks of distaste on their faces as they scanned the club.
Alesksander’s attention jumped as two women in front of him talked about the performer.
“Is it true she can summon?”
“Rumors say she can but was sick during her testing and got dismissed.”
Before any of them could provide aleksander with information, a young woman, dressed in a loose blouse and what looked like the first army pants.
“Based on all the chatter I could hear from back there, I assume it’s about myself?” You grinned as you scanned the crowd.
A mixed of positive responses came from the busy club.
Aleksander noticed how each of his grisha searched the crowd.
“Aww stop it, i’m blushing!” You playfully waved to the crowd before turning to the band who waited for your sign to play.
As the band started up, you danced around the stage a bit.
“So if you don’t know, i wrote this many, many, many years ago when i was stuck as a showstopper for tow men on each side of the fold, one more then the other..” You referenced to your pants before raising an eyebrow.
Aleksander wasn’t surprised, zlatan of course wouldn’t share a summoner with anyone, especially the king and aleksander.
“Can’t take my charm,
Can’t take my humor,
Can’t take my wealth, cause it’s just a rumor.
Nothing you can take was ever with keeping.
No nothing you can take was every worthing keeping.”
As alina listened to your singing she glanced around the room and froze as she spotted aleksander and the other grisha in the club.
Alina subtly nudged mal who popped up and ushered alina through the crowd to leave quickly.
As you took a breath, you felt yourself stop for a moment, as you took note of the dark eyes of the darkling.
“Thinking you’re so fine,
Thinking you could have mine.
Thinking in control, thinking you can change me, maybe rearrange me.
Think again if that’s your goal.”
You stomped your boots at each sentence, making the crowd cheer.
Through the small break of your singing, you held strong eye contact with the darkling, from what zlatan had told you, he was saving you from the general who had “tossed your abilities aside” those were the only words you believed from the first general, you had tried to get test when you were a teen but got reject when you said you could summon.
“Can’t take my sass,
Can’t take my talking.
You can kiss my ass,
Then keep on walking!
Nothing you can take was ever worth keeping,
Oh, nothing you can take was ever worth keeping.” You stared him down while continuing to sing.
Zoya scoffed as she followed your and aleksander’s gaze to one another.
Aleksander looked away from you to look at the sour expression on her face.
“She’s insulting you to your face..”
“I know..” He responded, his eyes moving back onto you which your eyes were closed as you finished the song.
“Nothing you can take from is worth dirt,
Take it cause i’d give it free, it won’t hurt.
Nothing you can take was ever worth keeping..”
As you finished the crowd cheered making you grin and gave a bow before walking to your bandmate and motioned for behind the stage before exiting, they band continued to play as you left.
Aleksander hadn’t noticed zoya rambling on how disrespectful you were, he piped up as you left the stage. “I’ll be back.” He told zoya before walking outside the club.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
You quietly exited from the building and leaned against the building.
You were now screwed, after many blissful years away from zlatan and kirigan it had to come crashing down.
Being upset you got up and kicked the tins in the back alley of the club.
“That was quite the show..” You jumped at the general’s voice.
“General kirigan..” You greeted, walking to pick up the fallen over tins.
“You worked under zlatan?” He questioned, making you chuckle.
“What made it obvious? My clothes or the song?” You asked, putting the lid back on before turning to his figure.
“He rarely sent letters to the palace grounds to let us know of anything.”
You scoffed, knowing where he was trying to lead the conversation.
“Bullshit, don’t play like you never knew about me, I stood in front of grisha testers and was denied a retest because of my ability, each test is shown in front of you, in your lap to see the newest grisha!” You walked closer to him as you went on.
“Nice try to play that card but the only words I ever believed from zlatan was that you tossed me aside.” You brushed past the darkling and went to enter the club again but was stopped by him grabbing your wrist in a tight grasp and pulling you back to face him.
“You could train in the little palace with others, be with your own kind.” He tried to convince you.
“You missed that train where I wanted to fit in with others badly, I will not be trained to replace your little sun summoner.” You ripped your wrist form his grasp and walked back into the club.
Aleksander stood by himself in the alley, shocked you had decline his offer.
After he collected himself he walked into the club to collect his grisha.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Weeks had passed since the incident at the club.
Aleksander hadn’t been expecting a meeting with the king, he was confused at the sudden arrangement.
“Tsar.” Aleksander greeted as he entered his war room.
“General.” King Pyotr greeted, letting aleksander step in further before continuing.
“Is there a reason you called upon me?” Aleksander questioned.
“When you were visiting ryevost, did you happened to see this girl?” The king unfolded a drawing of the singer he had a conversation with weeks ago.
“She’s rumored to be a moon summoner, if anything, everyone’s after her. And i believe she’ll do good here in the little palace under your control.” He continued, aleksander studied the poster.
“I’ll send grisha to find her…” The king smiled and nodded in aleksander’s direction before getting up and leaving.
Once gone, aleksander picked up the paper to admire your beauty.
“I’ll find you, songbird..” He muttered as he read over the paper.

The bunny and the wolf
Tumblr media
Summary: Aleksander hates everyone except you. You could stay forever.
Warnings: I guess none, just fluff
A/N: it was inspired by this pic
Aleksander was always like a big, bad wolf. Snurling and growling at people who wanted to get close. He pushed everyone away and never let anyone near.
But when he attemped to scare away you, you just beamed at him like a literal sunshine and he immediatly fell in love.
You were like the innocent little Bunny and he was the big, bad wolf. You softened his heart and since then he was soft and gentle with you, hars and cold with everyone else. You were his Bunny and the sight of you made him melt.
Aleksander had been quite cold and stoic when you first met him. He always kept everyone at an arm's length distance, never really letting anyone close.
But it was you who finally broke that cold armour he had around himself. He soon became like a big, protective bear towards you. You were the light that brought out his softer side and made him melt.
No one else had ever seen him that way, they all feared him and his stern demeanour. But to you, he was like a gentle lamb, willing to do anything for you.
"Hi baby" you stepped into his office and hugged him from behind. You wrapped your arms around him and hugged him tightly. He set his pen down on the desk and put his glass aside. He turned in your hold and wraps his arms around you, pulling you closer.
"Hello, my Bunny" Aleks whispered.
"How's it going? You seemed stressed this moring when you left our bed" you nuzzled closer and he literally saw you as a little Bunny feeling comfortable.
"I'm better now" he said with a smile as he leanes down and whispers into your ear, "My Bunny is here with me."
He nuzzled your ear with his lips and ran his hands through your hair. "You have no idea how much I missed you today."
"I missed you too lovely"
Lovely. You called him lovely, when he was anything but lovely. His heart skipped a beat. He was so used to being feared and respected, he had never been called something so sweet yet intimate before, but it just felt right.
"I have some good news for you, Bunny" he whispers softly.
"Yeaahh? Tell me" you whispered sweetly. He didn't understand how someone so precious like you could be with someone cursed and bad like him. But you were there and he didn't plan on letting you go.
"I want to hold you in my arms forever" he says softly as he ran his fingers through your hair. He pulled you close, bringing his lips to your ear. "I want to spend my life with you, my Bunny. I will be yours, my love" he said in a passionate whisper.
He stared deeply into your eyes as he held your face in his hands, "I would die for you."
"I love you Aleks" you beamed at him. Your softness made an effect on him like nothing else. You didn't guite catch on that he was proposing to you, but he was willing to try again.
He smiled warmly as he held you close. "I love you too, my Bunny."
He looked you deeply in the eyes as he cupped your face in his hands. He stared at you for a long moment before he whispered softly, "I want to marry you. Will you be my wife?"
Aleks was the type of person everyone feared, but with you he was soft and gentle. You have tamed the big, bad wolf.
You froze a bit then your knees buckled a little and started crying in joy.
"Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes" you hugged him closer and started kissing his face everywhere you could reach.
He kissed you passionately as he held you tightly in his arms. He was never the type of person to show much emotion, but with you, he was like a completely different person.
"I love you so much. You're the person I want to spend my life with. I knew you were the one right from the first moment we met"
He nuzzles at your neck with his lips again, "I can't wait to be with you forever"

Can I request an angst Aleksander Morozova fix where is wife just head there son and it was a really hard birth and all he can remember is her scream and cry while clutching his hand. She’s asleep and the baby wakes up, at first Aleksander is a bit apprehensive to hold him but doesn’t want his wife to wake up. So he hold the baby and when he sees that the baby has Y/n’s eyes he just falls in love. Sorry if this was long. Hopping you have a wonderful day ❤️❤️❤️
Tumblr media
Pairing: Husband!Aleksander Morozova x Wife!Reader
Warnings: There is none, it just a BIG OL' FLUFFY FLUFFY BEAR
When Aleks heard about the baby he was scared but also delighted. He knew exactly what NOT to do, but he didn't know what TO do. And not to mention the state of the world. It was no place to raise a child. But nontheless, he was elated to be starting a family with you, his wife.
Aleksander was by your side when your water broke. He stayed by your side as you were in labor. He watched you cry and scream. Listened as you yelled bloody murder for your child to come into the world. He wiped your tears and swiped the sweat off your forehead. Held your hand as you squeezed it so hard it felt it would fall off from the lack of circulation.
Once the baby was delivered he almost felt disappointment. His wife had been in pain and not only could he not help her but he was part of the cause.
You pass out after the baby was cleaned and fed. You held your daughter in your arms but Aleks was yet to. But the baby starts wailing right after you fell asleep and Aleksander knew he could at least help with this.
He walked over to the cradle and held out his hand. He was trying to muster the nerve to go up and lift the baby. You had already decided a name, Luna. He walked over and created shadows to amuse the child, but she just continued crying.
He picks her up, just like the nurses had. Dealing special attention to her head and trying his best to support her. He looks down at her as she stops crying. He had nothing but a loose tunic on, having abandoned his kefta and other layers while you were in labor. The baby is flush against he exposed chest as he holds her.
He continues to stare down at her before he notices her eyes. She had the same eyes as you, a light grey. He had poured pools upon pools of love into eyes just like those and this time was no different. As soon he saw the familiar eyes on Luna's cherub face, his heart had melted.
You woke up in the morning to see Aleks napping with Luna on his chest. Luna laid there in the silence of the early morning to see your husband. You admired the two, your two favorite beings in the same room as you. You were exhausted but you were happy. You were irrecoverably and irreversibly happy. No one would take this from you, No one at all.

Insomnia
Pairing: Aleksander Morozova x Heartrender! Reader
Summary: When you wake up in the middle of the night to find Aleksander still wide awake, you offer to help him fall asleep
Warnings: Fluff, probably inaccurate use of heartrender powers but I thought it was a cool concept
A/N: I wrote this in one go and did very little proofreading so I apologize for any mistakes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When you wake, the room is still dark, shadows stretching long and distorting the shapes of all the objects in your room. You reach out for Aleksander only to realize he’s not there, the sheets cold in his absence. You sigh and roll over, laying with your eyes closed for awhile before sitting up and swinging your legs over the edge of the bed. You slip your now chilly feet into your slippers but don’t bother putting on your robe, quietly making your way through the darkness toward the faint light coming from the doorway.
You follow the steady sound of his heartbeat and find he’s exactly where you’d left him five hours ago, hunched over his desk with papers strewn about around him. Even from across the room, you can see the tension in his shoulders, hear the frustration in his breath and heart rate. You come closer and he turns at the sound of your footsteps, that line between his brows softening at the sight of you.
You round the side of his chair and he’s already holding his arms out to you, helping you settle wordlessly onto his lap. You rest your forehead against his shoulder and let him trail his fingertips up and down your spine with one hand, the other set steady on the small of your back. You sit there in silence for a few minutes, feeling him relax beneath you, until you finally decide to break it.
“You didn’t come to sleep.” It’s not a question. You would have woken up — if only briefly —had he come to bed for even an hour. He presses a few apologetic kisses to your shoulder.
“I wouldn’t have been able to sleep if I tried, moya lyubov.” He sighs and you pull away, taking his face in your hands. You notice the dark circles under his eyes and frown, brushing your thumbs over the delicate skin there. His eyes flutter shut, the only thing keeping his head from falling backwards being the back of the chair.
“I can help with that, you know.” He opens his eyes and looks at you apprehensively.
“I’ve seen Fedyor and Ivan put people to sleep before and it doesn’t exactly look like a very pleasant experience.” He chuckles and you laugh a little with him.
“There’s more than one way to put people to sleep, Sasha.” He smiles at you, eyes sparkling with mischief and you swat at his chest gently, “Not like that.”
He laughs at the bemused expression on your face before resting his forehead against yours, “Tell me, then. How else can you put someone to sleep.”
“Come to bed. I don’t want to have to drag to there unconscious.” He chuckles again and presses his lips to yours briefly.
“Fine,” he mumbles against your lips, stealing another kiss from you before pulling back and tucking a strand of hair behind your ear, “You win.”
“As always.” You grin, lifting yourself off his lap and leading him towards your shared bedroom.
When you get there, you settle yourself under the blankets while he undresses, finally climbing into bed with you when he’s finished. You let him get comfortable, laying on his side facing you with an arm draped over your waist. You place the tips of your ring and middle fingers gently over his temples, his face cradled between your palms. One thing that’s never failed to amaze him is how soft you are with him. You’re a fierce warrior, of course, but when the situation called for it, you could be so, unbelievably gentle.
You notice him staring at you and smile bashfully, “What?”
“You’re so wonderful.” He whispers, smiling at you lovingly. You wonder for a moment if the lack of sleep has finally made him delirious.
“Thank you.” You press your lips to his forehead briefly before pulling back to smile at him, “Now shush.”
He apologizes through a soft chuckle. The silence that follows lasts all of five seconds before he breaks it again, “Tell me what you’re doing.”
“I’m not sure you’ll be awake long enough to hear it all,” you brush your fingers through the hair closest to his ears, “Besides, it’s really quite boring.”
“You can explain it to me properly in the morning,” he states, smoothing his hand up your spine, “I enjoy listening to your voice.”
Your heart swells so much it leaves very little room for your voice, your reply coming short and soft, “Okay.”
You return your hands to their original positions by his temples and focus on his brain, sensing every synapse that fires as it sends commands throughout his body without him even realizing, “Traditionally, heartrenders lower a person’s heart rate and restrict the blood flow to their brain to put them to sleep,” Aleksander watches you intently, concentration clear on your face, “You already know that, of course.”
“Of course.” He smiles, and you can’t help but smile back.
“But there’s another way to put someone to sleep, one that looks and feels a lot more natural,” You continue feel for what you’re looking for and eventually you find it, “There’s a part of the brain that releases a certain chemical to tell your body that it’s tired. So, if I do this,” You use your small science to stimulate that very part of his brain, making it do exactly as you had explained as you lower your voice, “and lower your heart rate just a little,” He feels his heart rate slow the slightest bit, enough to calm him but not nearly enough to be alarming, “You should fall asleep within the next few minutes.”
Just as Aleksander begins to wonder how long it will take for him to feel the effects, his eyelids grow heavy and fog clouds his mind. He feels your hands slip from his face and he pulls you closer, burying his nose in your hair.
“Thank you, milaya.” His words are soft and muddled with sleep already, and you smile at your victory. He presses his lips to the top of your head once before settling chin over top of it and mumbling, “I love you.”
Your heart flutters at his admission despite the fact that he’s said it a million times before. You smile and nuzzle a little deeper into his embrace, hearing his breathing even out as he finally falls into a much needed rest, “I love you too, Sasha.”

Nightmares to Dreams // General Kirigan/The Darkling
Request: Hii i would like to request angst for kirigan where he and reader are in love. The part on s1 where they were inside the fold and he was expanding it and as he was doing so, reader was injured then reader was dying or smt then suddenly everything was just a dream when reader woke up - anon
A/N: Thank you so much for your request! I really enjoyed writing this, I hope you like it! I haven’t written in a very long time so I’m still getting used to things!
Warnings: angst to fluff, nightmares, mentions of violence, upset, comforting, hurt/comfort.
Word count: 1.5k
Tumblr media
The first thing you notice is the drop in temperature; your teeth clatter together and goosebumps cover every inch of skin that is bared to the elements.
The second thing that registers is the noise; the terrible, frightening noise of the Volcra as they swarm above you, wings flapping as they look for their next meal.
The final thing you come to notice is Kirigan, stood metres away from you, arms raised in semblance of a victorious pose.
You call out to him; your voice landing on deaf ears for he doesn’t move, doesn’t even acknowledge your desperate pleas. Fear begins to choke you; cutting off your pleas, your begging. The blood in your veins turns to ice as you come to realise what the love of your life plans to do.
Each and every step towards him is a challenge. The threat of the Volcra combined with the unknown from Kirigan creates an atmosphere that could rival even the lowest circle of hell.
Darkness swirls around Kirigan; his power coming out to play now that he has an audience. You watch, tears silently falling down your face as the fold begins to expand.
You try one last time. His name – a blessing in the past, said with love and joy now tastes bitter as you beg him to stop, to think again.
It all comes to a stop – every thought, every word – when the claws of a Volcra rip through your kefta to the skin below.
His name dies on your lips as the Volcra’s claws dig deep into your body. The pain is too much; searing heat rushing through your body, a scream lodged in your throat as your vision begins to fade. The last of your strength, as the Volcra flaps its enormous wings, goes toward looking at the love of your life to find you barely even recognise him at all.
—————————————
You wake with a start, panic turning your veins to sludge as you take a minute to get used to your surroundings.
A bedroom. Four walls; two large windows, black curtains.
A bed. Four-poster, dark sheets, not alone.
Wiping the sweat from your brow, you turn to see Kirigan still sound asleep, utterly unaware of the nightmare you had just faced. A pang of envy hits you, jealous of his ability to sleep through just about anything.
Your heart rate slows to its normal rate; the adrenaline leaving your body just as swiftly as it had arrived, leaving you cold and on edge. Rubbing a hand across your face, you know you were not about to fall back asleep so easily.
Leaving the bedroom, you cast a single glance to the man still sleeping peacefully. Despite everything, a fond smile settles on your lips at the sight. Kirigan looked so much younger in sleep; less burderned by the world, and by his power. An arm stretched above his head, he turns his face inwards to his elbow, letting out a quiet snore as sleep pulls him further under.
You head immediately for Kirigan’s favourite spot; a loveseat just big enough for the both of you. You couldn’t count on one hand the hours you had spent on here, entwined with Kirigan, talking of nothing and everything all at once.
It’s cold when you sit down; the warmth having been leeched from the room as night descended. You grab the blanket from the back of the chair, wrapping it around you tightly. The material is soft against your skin; soothing as you try your best not to think of the nightmare.
The room is dark save for the dying embers of a fire lit the night before. It pops and crackles; providing you with a soundtrack for forgetting the horrors from your sleep. The nightmare flashes in your mind; the look on Kirigan’s face, his power-hungry gaze, and the pain of the Volcra’s claws. They circle your mind; revolving, one after the other, making it hard to focus on little else.
Exhausted, you run a hand down your face, wanting nothing more to be asleep beside the man you so desperately love. In the dark of the room, you could feel him reach out to you as he so often did in the night. His arms coming to encompass you; his nose burying in your hair. Kirigan needed the physical contact; he needed to know that you were still there, alive and happy.
“There you are,” A voice sounds, pulling you from your reverie. Kirigan smiles sleepily as he pauses at the bedroom door. “I couldn’t find you.”
A watery smile adorns your lips at the sound of relief in his voice. There was no sign of the tyrant from your nightmare. In his place was the man you had known for years, the man who loved you beyond recognition. “I’m sorry,” You reply, your voice barely more than a whisper.
“Darling,” Kirigan begins; his voice rough with sleep and concern, “Why are you awake at this time?”
You shrug, not quite meeting his gaze. “I wanted to get an early start.”
Kirigan wanders to you; his black robe swishing quietly against the floor before he gestures for you to move to one side. He settles beside you, reaching for you with no hesitation as he wraps you in his arms. You breathe easier with your back pressed to his chest; feeling warm and safe despite the horrors you had just encountered in your sleep.
Kirigan presses a kiss to the top of your head. “Let’s try again,” He murmurs, “How come you’re awake before the sun?”
“I had a nightmare,” You confess quietly, feeling rather childish in the grand scheme of things.
He tucks a piece of your hair behind your ear. “Do you want to talk about it?”
You hide your face in your hands. “It was awful,” You lament, your voice somewhat muffled. “It was absolutely awful.”
Kirigan shifts your positions, settling you across his lap and tugging your hands from your face so he can see and hear you better. “Darling, I have to know now if it’s got you this worked up.”
You take a deep breath before unloading the horror to him. “We were in the fold; it was so cold and the Volcra were circling. I was trying to find you and when I did, you had no interest in me. You were focused on expanding the fold, wanting to make it bigger and destroy any town and village that lay in its path. I tried getting closer to you, but the ground had turned to mud and I kept slipping. I kept shouting for you, over and over, and you simply ignored me or didn’t even hear me. Finally, it ended when a Volcra grabbed me in its claws, ripping at my back. The last thing I saw before I woke up was you, overloaded with power.”
Silence descends upon the room. You daren’t look Kirigan in the eye, not wanting to see the hurt that would surely be reflected there.
Kirigan takes in your words; feeling every one of them like a lance to his heart. Once upon a time, he wouldn’t have hesitated in his plans to expand the fold, but that all changed when he fell for you. He had his opinions over Grisha and their treatment within Ravka and throughout history, but now that he something worth living for, he was not about to risk it all.
He takes your face in his hands. He presses a kiss to your forehead, one to your nose before kissing your eyelids. Kirigan presses his forehead to yours in silent apology.
“I’m sorry you had to see all that,” Kirigan murmurs after a moment. “I can’t imagine how terrifying it would have been.”
Kirigan’s thumbs trace over your cheekbones; soothing you entirely. “It was so dark, and you couldn’t hear me,” You whisper, pain evident in your voice.
“I will always hear you,” Kirigan promises. “I will always look for you. I will always come for you.”
You do not doubt him. “I’ve never been so scared.”
Kirigan releases your face in favour for wrapping you in his arms, holding you close to his chest as if he could protect from all the horrors in the world. “Are you still scared?”
You shake your head, pressing your nose to his chest and inhaling the his familiar woody scent. “No, I know I have you to protect me.”
“You will always have me to protect you whether it be from threats or nightmares. There is no life without you in it; my reason for living.”
His words wash over you as sleep starts to pull you under. Kirigan smiles fondly at the sight; he could easily carry you back to bed and fall back asleep beside you, but he doesn’t want to risk disturbing you further. Instead, he brushes your hair away from his face and kisses your forehead, hoping he has done his best to your nightmares into dreams.

“You have to know I will not sit by idle as you parade Alina around as if she means more to you than I do.” You state matter-of-factly. You weren’t used to people fighting for you, let alone fighting to be with you. Alina may have been the sun summoner, but you couldn’t handle people acting as if she was better than the rest of them. You knew and were well accustomed to how she grew up and were even better adjusted to feeling less than your counterparts.
Kirigan’s eyes shone with hesitancy, but your unwavering stature made him realise that this was a non-negotiable, it was up to him to prove whether or not it he meant what he said. He nodded somewhat reluctantly and although you felt some guilt pooling in your stomach, willing your urge to please him to go away, you stood strong.
Mal and Alina stood behind Kirigan and seemed to be engaging in a hushed conversation, your eyes followed their movements with a calculated gaze, whatever they were talking about seemed important. Aleksander, noticing your attention was astray from your current conversation followed your eyes to the couple. His eyes somewhat hardened, you felt his posture tense and in confusion you lifted your hand to place on his kefta covered chest, his eyes moved to your figure and his lips twitched at your innocent expression.
“The tracker” he stated bluntly. “He touched you too much” he sniffed arrogantly, and you weren’t able to disguise the fondness in your gaze. “He was a means to an end” you used his words against him and even though his pride did not allow him to show his admiration for you to be able to call him on his hypocrisy his lips again twitched as he intertwined your arms as together you both made your way over to Mal and Alina.
Alina looked somewhat at your abrupt joint of their once private conversation but nonetheless looked at you both with a welcoming expression as Mal’s eyes glared at your…partner? And as did the man next to you at the tracker. You and Alina both looked exasperated at one another at their tense postures as some sort of way to show off their masculinity. What was it with them?
Aleksander then cleared his throat before he looked at Alina and Mal. “I wanted to introduce you both to my beloved, this is Y/N Y/L/N. She is an Inferni, I’m sure you two have seen each other during your training hours, she is one of the best Grisha under my wing.” Your chest puffs out in pride at his praise however Alina looks to Aleksander in confusion.
“Beloved? But you kisse- “Alina is abruptly cut off as Aleksander’s hand releases your arm to grasp onto hers, you and Alina both gasp audibly as Mal moves to protect Alina however before he can get there Kirigan just as fast, lets go as if nothing had happened. “There is no need to iscuss the past Miss Starkov.” Alina frowns at his formal address. You look between the both of them in scepticism.
“What were you going to say Alina?” you ask before Kirigan can sweep you both away to talk politics with other individuals. She gulps and looks away from Aleksanders piercing glare basically warning her from answering your questions however she shamefully whispers a sentence that alone breaks your heart into a million pieces. “We kissed, the night he summoned me to his chambers” you drop your hand from Kirigans and look at him in anxiety, praying silently for him to deny her claim.
However instead of that he ducks his head and releases a harsh breath. You shake your head as tears fill your eyes, your breath becomes laboured as you feel a hollow feeling encompass your chest as you struggle to breathe. “How- “Your distraught gaze pierces the darkness that covers Kirigan’s heart, and he can’t help but let out an involuntary whimper. “How dare you” your voice is wobbly and painful to hear, and you silently berate yourself for making a scene at an event that should have been a celebration.
Aleksander moves to grasp your hand again, yet you move away from him swiftly and make you way to the door of the hall, whilst avoiding the curious gaze of onlookers. You can hear Kirigan’s swift steps behind you as he calls your name brokenly in hope of you listening to him, you ignore him and make your way to your chambers.
You attempt to close and lock the door behind you, but Kirigan has other plans as he stops the door closing by a swift inch and as his red rimmed eyes meet yours you sink to your plush blue bed as your ears fill with static and you sob into your hands.  Kirigan drops to his knees before you as he attempts to uncover your tear stricken face and although you resist with all you might his broken pleas fill the air. “Please, please hear me out, I-it didn’t mean anything. D-don’t leave me please let me explain”.
Your attempt to let his pleas fall on deaf ears are not achieved as you lift your eyes to see his dark eyes filled with pain and you softly shake his hold on you as you quietly ask him. “I need time.” You tell him bluntly and his heart drops from his chest as his eyes widen, shaking his head as his thoughts race, you can’t mean what he thinks you mean. He surely couldn’t have lost you just before he had been able to win you over, please tell him you’re joking.
Shaking his head violently you can’t help but whimper at his anguished face as his sobs are unable to be hid. “Please don’t leave me” he cries in a broken voice and your decision is almost swayed by the pure pain in his voice “Don’t let me lose you, I-I just got you, please. I don’t think I’ll be able to live without you” he pleas and your eyes widen at his confession and your hands grasp his face suddenly. “I am noy leaving you my love, I need time to be alone, I want to work on this, but I need time.” You tell him as you watch his shaking form find relief and calm down near instantly at your reassurance and you smile down at him.
“We were not together, I do not fault you, but I know I will never forgive myself if I do not take time away from this situation.” The more you talk, the more he understands, and you can feel his slight nodding through your encapsulation of his face. “I will do better, please believe me I will do better for you” his gaze looks almost akin to a puppy begging to be praised and your lovesick heart lets you know that everything is likely to be okay.
As time passes after your conversation in your chambers Aleksander starts spending more time around you and his subtle touches are often hard to ignore. He is trying, more than he’s ever had to for someone and he finds himself filled with butterflies whenever you choose to acknowledge his presence whether it be in public or private. Life becomes somewhat quaint and simple as Aleksander and Alina plan on breaking down the fold and he often finds himself thinking of new ways to surprise you with lavish gifts or teenage date nights rather than focusing on the task he needs to be paying attention to at the current time. And slowly but surely you both make your way back to one another like magnets constantly trying to be separated however always finding their way back together.

“Once upon a time, there was a rich merchant, a brave and kind man, who after losing his beloved wife, lived on for the good of his six children.” The storyteller flipped the page. “Three boys, three girls, who filled the house with laughter and chatter.”
Giggles coming from four children, laid across from the maiden. “Sounds a lot like you four!” She joked before going back to the page.
“The man had a fleet of three ships, the siren, triton, and the largest, leviathan.” The children scoot upwards to look at the drawings of the boats.
“They were stuffed with the finest wares in the land, from jewels, to fabrics and mead. One evening while on their way back to port, a violent storm had appeared. Lighting tore their sails, snapped their masts, the bottom of the ocean sparkled with the jewels and golds that were swallowed up forever.” The children frowned.
“Gone within the month, the merchant and his children were forced to leave their home.” She flipped the page once again.

You rolled your eyes as you listened to your siblings complain about moving to the countryside and having to give up their best valuables.
Your shoes quietly clacked on the wood as you made your way towards the statue of your mother, your father had made after her death. You sighed as you knelt down and placed flowers in front of the statue.
“There mother, we have to start a new life...” You sighed as you stared at the statue. “There you are y/n.” You turned to face your father who smiled sadly at you and the statue. “Would she have liked the countryside?” You asked, hugging your father as you both admired her one last time. “She would’ve loved it..” He kissed the top of your head.
“Then, I'm sure I'll love it too!” You smiled as he guided you both towards the carriages filled with the belongings you were able to keep.
It was hard to get used to the countryside for a few weeks before you fell into a routine. You tied an apron around your waist before walking up the stairs to your older sister’s bedroom and began knocking. “Get up you two, it’s your turn to help in the garden!” You kept knocking.
“Marie has fallen ill, we’ll take our breakfast in bed..” Anne, the oldest, said, opening the door, her skin dewy with sweat. “Absolutely not, you two are going to help in the garden!” You scoffed and marched in.
Marie laughed and fanned herself. “I’d rather die..” You rolled your eyes and dragged her upwards into a sitting motion.
“Too bad, I'll come back if you both aren’t down in two minutes.” You threatened, walking into the garden, you walked over to the laundry line and hung the wet clothing.
“Defeated, pierced by arrows, the young man left the battle, taking refuge in the forest.” You glanced up and smiled as your brother, Thomas, sat in the empty carriage seat, writing a story in his notebook.
“How’s it going?” You motioned for his notebook, he sighs and tosses it to the side. “Horrible, too realistic.” He scoffed, making you smile as he walked over and helped pin the clothes to the line.
You both turned as your father cheered from his horse, riding up to the cottage with a wide smile. You both walked over towards him.
“Gather everyone, I have some news!” He cheered.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
“They were happy to see me at the shipping offices, Dumont was charming, his eldest daughter married a count!” He updated, looking at his two oldest daughters.
“It could’ve been me!” Marie sighed. “But the big news is, the mermaid, which was your mother’s favorite ship, has been found!” You looked shocked at his new, leaning forward to hear properly.
“She was drifting off the coast, and brought back into port.” Your father announced,
“And the goods onboard?” Your brother questioned, “Intact!” Your siblings cheered, knowing they could return to their typical uppity lives.
“Children, I think we’re saved!” he chuckled as they cheered, not noticing your somber attitude. “Lets go pack our bags! No, we could burn them out here!” Anne clapped, happily.
“I feel tingling, I'm alive again father!” Marie ran over and kissed your father’s cheek.
“We can’t go back into town in this statute, you need to visit the shops, we need to make a list!” Anne squealed as she and Marie ran for parchment.
“You can come to town with me, show off my successor to dumont!” Your father told Henry, the oldest.
“I won’t let you down!” They both smiled. “At last, the young man's enemies were defeated, the young man returned triumphant, cheered on by his people!” Your family all smiled at thomas’ ending.
You quickly walked outside to tend to the garden while your sister’s wrote down a list.
Your father noticed as you walked away. He quickly followed and sighed as he watched you quietly pick the vegetables. “What’s the matter with you, are you sulking?” He asked, watching as you dug up a pumpkin. You stood up and faced your father.
“Clearly, if a girl is sad, she sulks, if a girl is happy, she’s mad!” You ranted to your father, placing the pumpkin in his arms and you collected the fruits.
“Well what do you want us to believe, everyone but you is happy.” He sets down the pumpkin before squatting down next to you.
“I’d like to stay here longer. I like the countryside; it’s peaceful, no judgment.” You sighed.
“We came to this house to bury our sorrows, our lives aren’t meant to be here..”
“We both know what will happen, Henry will go back to the thugs he calls his friends, Marie and Anne will go out every evening to find husbands and you’ll be tied to your work again..” You sighed, standing up.
“Y/n, one of these days we’ll go our separate ways, even you will grow up and want to move away.” Your father explained.
Before anymore could be said, your sisters interrupted with the paper.
“Don’t forget a thing, Marie can’t bare it!” Anne sighed, swatting flies away. Your father nods before turning to you. “And what do you want?” He questioned, you sighed and glanced over the garden before deciding. “A rose, I can’t seem to grow any here, no matter how hard I try too!” He nods at your request.
“Very well, I shall return with the items.” Your father walked towards his horse where Henry stood, waiting for him.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
“The men arrived at the port to find problems with their wealth; the father has signed the riches over to pay off the family’s debt.” The children gasped.
“Oh no!” The little girl sighed.
“The father had stopped his son from lashing out on the innocent dumont, the eldest stormed off in a fit of rage, leaving the father to follow after him; while searching the father had stumbled into one of the past suitors who pinned after the youngest hand in marriage.”
“Orion Kingsley, highly respected for his time in the war, though now he was considered amongst the town's thugs.” The children’s interest peaked as the illustration showed the man.
“Is he gonna take his daughter away?” The youngest gasped at the thought. “Well, we’re still in the beginning so who knows.” The storyteller shrugged.
“He questioned the father about his youngest and offered to take her off his hands for a hefty amount but the father refused and continued to try and find his son.”
“After hours of searching, the father left defeated. He let his horse trot to the cottage while he had dozed off for a bit; Somehow while he slept the horse had taken a wrong turn and the pair ended up in front of an abandoned palace.” The storyteller laughed as the children tucked themselves under their blankets tighter.
“The doors eerily opened up by themselves. The father walked in cautiously, he made his way to a dining hall, on the table laid a lavish dinner of all sorts of food, the candles lit up showing the table covered in goods, the man quickly dug in, starved from the ride.”
“Once the man had finished his dinner, he noticed a corner of the room had lit up, it was a huge chest, he opened and to his surprise it had all the things he needed from the list, minus the rose. The father took the items and made his way out of the palace but stopped as he spotted roses leading to a garden, he quickly walked over and plucked one from the ground, and BOOM!” The storyteller slammed the book, scaring the children.
“A giant soldier jumped in front of the man, the father scrambled, as he went to run away he bumped into a dark figure that towered over him.”
“He yelled at man for being selfish, for the man's punishment he was to return before morning and stay there till his death; A life for a rose..”
The kids gasped.
“If you do not return to me by sunrise, I will go after your family, one by one and I will save your youngest for last, since she is most dear to you! The beast threatened the man..” The storyteller showed the drawings of the man cowering under the beast.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
“A story of a beast and a rose? It doesn’t make sense.” Thomas questioned. “How do you explain that? It’s real isn’t it!” Your father motioned over to the chest with everything.
“It’s all our fault! It’s all our fault-!” Marie repeated, Anne smacked her arm. “We’re not the ones who asked for a rose.” Anne motioned towards your frozen state, beside your father.
“It’s no one's fault!” Henry argued back. “Enough! I have no idea who that beast is but I know I must return to the palace in a few hours..”  Your father sighed, staring at the rose on the table.
“What will he do to you?” The youngest son, Flynn asked. “I have no idea, he said a life for a rose..” You didn’t need to look up to feel your siblings stare, silently blaming you.
“And if you don’t return?” You questioned. “It’s over for all of us…” You all stared at the rose on the table, not knowing what to do next.
The next day had arrived, all of your siblings stayed up to see your father off for the last time, you sulked in your room.
A knock brought you out of your thoughts, in walked your father. “Y/n..” He started, “I know what they all are thinking..” You stared out your small window.
“What do you mean?” Your father asked. “Mother died, giving birth to me..” You turned to face your father. “I won’t let them blame me for yours too!” Before your father could realize your words you quickly ran out of your room, locking him inside by placing a chair against the knob.
“Y/n! Let me out, Y/N!” Your father called out, Henry looked between you and your siblings who rushed upstairs to let your father out.
He hesitated, not knowing where to run after. You grabbed your coat that hung up by the door. “Don’t forget me!” You called out before running to take your father’s horse.
As you rode off, you heard your father call out for you but got stopped by your brothers.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
As you approached the woods, you leaned down to the horse. “A life for a rose.” You watched as the horse's pupils dilated before taking off into the forest.
You tried to shield yourself as he passed through sharp branches, you had managed to gain scratches on your arms. After a bumpy ride you had finally arrived at the abandoned palace your father had stumbled onto.
You hopped off the horse and walked to find the entrance of the palace, while exploring you took note of the amount of overgrown vines there were covering the building and a statue in the fountain. As you walked up the steps leading to the doors.
The big doors opened in front of you. You hesitated before walking in, the doors shut making you jump before looking around.
You followed the vines that lead up to stairs, on the top of the stairs was a door that had a bridge leading to a room, you walked into the room and looked around, the ceiling was covered in rose vines, the four bed posts were covered as well.
You looked to your left and saw a pond of water in a cove looking area.
“A life for a rose..” A voice spoke out of nowhere, making you look around for the source.
After failing to do so you walked over to the bed that had a fur blanket on top, you ran your hand through the fur. You looked up and stood shocked, a lavender dress with swirls embroidered into the fabric. You reached your hand out to touch it but pulled your hand back.
You avoid looking at your scratched up hand, you sighed before turning to the water and walked over.
Swirls appeared in the water, you leaned closer and dipped your hand into the water, within moments, you pulled your hands out to see them healed, no traces of scratches.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
“The girl was ready to die with the first strike of the bell, as she looked around the beasts palace, a noise echoed through her body; Her heartbeat.” The drawing in the book showed a girl in the middle of a ballroom of sorts, in a lavender dress with jewels across her neck.
The second drawing showed the girl lifting a curtain, behind her stood a beast in the shadow on the fabric.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
You quietly walked into the dining hall and looked around for anyone and held your breath as you heard footsteps behind you.
“My name is y/n, i’ve come to exchange my life rather  than my father’s..” You explained to whoever stood behind you. “Seat yourself.” The gruff voice spoke.
You noticed two chairs, one on each end of the table. You walked to the chair near the fireplace and sat down, not looking up to your now captor.
He walked behind your chair and spoke, “Eat, when you have regained your strength, you will be able to walk wherever you want on my domain; but when night has fallen I forbid you to leave the palace,” He told you, leaning in as you picked up a sliced potato.
“If I must die, let it be now.” Your eyes watered up. “You’re braver than your father; Each evening at seven bells precisely, you must be here, do not think of escaping. The forest will close in on you.” You agreed, shakily.
As you listened to his terms, you looked towards the silverware gasped, a scared and bruised hand was next to your plate. You turned to look at him but he was nowhere to be seen, scared you ran back to the room for the night.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
“Shall I stop?” The storyteller questioned, looking over at the children.
“No!”
“We need to hear what happened next!”
“I can’t possibly go to bed now, she barely met the beast!”
“Read more please, it’s sad she’s all alone, poor girl.” The storyteller chuckled. “It’s true she was all alone now; As she walked up the stairway, the girl understood for the first time, she was spending the night away from her family and home. What she did not know was that, living in the palace, the beast had servants living in the palace, she didn’t know but they were going to be very helpful.” The kids perked up.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
You sighed as you walked into your bedroom and placed the candle by your bedside and laid down on the bed, it was surprisingly soft and comfortable, it hadn’t taken much time before you fell asleep.
You woke up in your dream, you watched as two girls stared at themselves in a mirror and laughed as a group of hunters returned.
“They’re back!” One cheered. “Shouting, excited and dirty.” The other sighed, you watched as the pair walked over to the men.
You watched as one of the girls smiled and ran towards her husband and kissed him, his friends quickly approached and grabbed him from her.
“Take your dirty hands off her!”
“Woah!”
“Ah yes my friend, no stag, no prize for you!” One of them chuckled. The man's wife scoffed, “Are you still after that stag?” The man nodded at his wife. “I’ve hunted it for years, but I know I'm near, luda.” She sighed. “What better trophy, after you?” He grins at the woman.
“He plans on using the cut on the stag.” Luda’s eyes widened at the news. “Ay! I’m thirsty, let's get a drink!” The man’s wife sighed before following the group.
You watched as the room around you changed, it was the room you were staying in but without the rose vines everywhere.
You watched as luda got her hair brushed by a servant. “I mean, he could’ve come back and spent some time with me. I’ve had it.” She sighed, you looked over as the doors opened up. The man from earlier walked in, nodding as the servant excused herself and left the room.
He walked up behind the woman and kissed up her neck, she sighed and turned to look at her husband.
“You smell of game...” He pulled away and stared down at the woman, he picked her up and carried her to the bed and placed her down before kissing her once more.
“My love, I have something to ask of you..” You watched as he sat up to listen to his wife. “I want you to stop hunting that beast.” He paused before sighing.
“What for?” He questioned.
“I’ve had enough, I've been lonely while you’ve gone hunting..here, without you..” She played with the kefta he wore.
“Agreed, but on one condition.” She nods at his words. “Give me a child of our own.” She smiled softly at him.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
You woke up, as you went to wipe your eyes of sleep; you jumped at the sight of a scarred man by your bed, you did a double take but by the second glance he was gone.
You quickly sat up and looked around the room, a new dress sat in the corner. A turquoise dress with a gold belt. You slowly rose out of your bed and walked over to examine it.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
“The girl waited for hours in her room before leaving. She feared seeing the beast jump out from the shadows. But her curiosity was far more stronger than her fear. She wanted to explore the grounds that she is now bound too.” The kids listened as the storyteller flipped the page, only a few yawning before shaking themselves awake.
“A deer had caught her attention, it stopped and stared back at her, almost as if it wanted her to follow, luckily she did so, the deer guided her to a secluded garden, a stone statue in the middle of it all. She walked closer and brushed away the rose petals that had fallen on to the statue’s face.” The storyteller flipped the page to continue.
“To the girl's surprise, it was the same woman as she had seen in her dream, “luda” as the people called her.” The kids gasped.
“The girl froze up as you noticed the facial features were the same. “Luda?” she called out, stood back and stared as if luda rose from the stone; Some years or centuries even, another woman had lived, loved and died in the cursed palace.”
“Why me? Why do you haunt my dreams?” The girl asked, shaking at her discovery. Without a second thought the girl ran back to her room and waited til dinner with her mysterious jailer.”
- - - - - - - - - - - -
“You’re late!” You sighed and sat down in the chair, staring at your hands.
“Do you like your new dress?” He asked, pacing behind her chair. “Never come into that room again.” You said coldly, he scoffed.
“May I remind you who makes the rules here?” He said, walking to the chair across the table and sat with his back to you.
“You watched me sleep!” You scoffed at him. “Enough, eat.” He commanded.
“You’re not eating?” You questioned, picking up your fork. “I said to eat.” He sighed.
“May I speak or am I suppose to eat in silence like a child?” You inquired. “That’s what you are, an arrogant child.” He remarked. “A child that you watched sleep.” You said before taking a bite of your food.
“You talk too much!” He hissed.
“I know it pleases you, that I'm filling the emptiness..” You smirked into your cup. He scoffs.
“I do have a question though...whose place is this?” He sighed. “Everything here belongs to me.”
You both went back and forth. “Resist me all you want, but you will be mine!” He stated before storming out of the dinning hall. You rolled your eyes at him.
After dinner you made your way to your bedroom, you jumped as a figure stood in your room, a woman with ginger hair.
“Who are you?” you asked, slightly confused. “Um, you aren’t suppose to be back early...i’m genya i’m a servant to your kidnapper..” She introduces herself to you, holding something behind her back.
“How do I know you're not lying to me?” You question, ready to throw the candle if need be. “Uh, you traded places with your father!” She said, holding her hands up to show she was innocent and didn’t mean any harm.
“I just came by to leave you this, I saw on your father’s list he had perfume.” She handed you a tiny bottle of perfume, you looked at the bottle and shook your head and handed it back. “My sister’s requested that, i only asked for a rose but you see how that ended..” You awkwardly chuckled before walking to your bed and sat down.
“Is there anything you’d like to keep you entertained, trust me i know how boring it gets here..” You both chuckled. “I like reading, if that helps..” Genya nodded at the information you had given her.
“I should probably let you rest now, but i’ll keep that in mind..” You nodded and waved as genya walked out of your room.
Once she was gone, you got undressed and slept in your underclothing.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
You looked around and quickly realized, you were in another dream, you looked around to see a ball room filled with people. You watched as luda reached out for the man’s hand.
“My friends, today is a great day, the palace will finally have an heir.” You watched as the people around you clapped at the news. The music started to play, luda and her husband both started to dance around the ballroom.
“What are you thinking of?” Luda questioned.
“The first time we met, by the river.” He smiled. “You were by the edge, undressing.” Luda snickered as her husband got flustered. “You were about to drown.” He quipped back. “I swim better than you!” She teased, you watched as the pair smoothly continued.
“And if we went back to our room?” He smirked, luda sighed. “Don’t forget your promise.” “Which one?” She gave him a stern look.
“The stag, aleksander.” You perked up, finally knowing the husband’s name.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Once you had woken up you got dressed in a new gown, today it was a dark blue, with long sleeves. Once dressed, you noticed a book on the vanity. You walked over and picked it up.
It had a piece of parchment on the front.
‘Thought you’d like to read, one of David's favorites.’
(David is another servant to him..) - Genya
You smiled down at the note and looked through the book and took it with you outside.
After a few hours of reading on the steps, you got up and looked around the palace some more.
You smiled as you saw red hair hide away as you turned a corner, you walked closer and tapped Genya's shoulder.
“Thank you for the book! I love it so far!” Genya smiled at you. “I’m glad, sadly the books are the only escape for those of us trapped here..” You nodded as you both walked up more steps, your attention was directed to a group of others laughing as they cooked or messed about.
“How many are trapped here?” You asked, genya sighed. “Several, stuck here to deal with his temper..” She motions for your kidnapper.
“But ignore that, most of us are used to his temper, we actually were excited when we heard a lady had entered the palace.” She gently bumps your elbows together.
“Well if he chooses to keep me alive, i’ll gladly spend time with you all here, seems peaceful away from him.” You both chuckled.
 - - - - - - - - - - - -
For once you were earlier than him to the dining hall, you sat quietly sipping on porridge.
As the bell rang out you heard rushed footsteps into the room. You kept your eyes low and watched as the bottom of his coat trailed behind him; He walked over and stood behind your chair. “I’d like to apologize for myself last night, You were right...you do fill an immense emptiness..Do you like my gifts?” He asked, raising a hand towards you.
He sighed when you didn’t respond. “Why don’t you answer me?” He questions.
“I miss my family..” You answered. He scoffs before moving towards his turned chair.
“Forget them! They’re gone, you live with me now” He stopped, besides your chair.
“It may be helpful for you to turn your back on the past but I can’t.”
“What do you know about me?” He waited before answering. “Nothing!” “Nothing, you’re right..” You sighed, placing down your spoon.
“I’ll make you a deal, a few hours with my family..” You trailed off.
“And for what?” He questioned. You stared at your feet. “A dance; in exchange you let me see them..” You proposed, thinking back to your dream.
He sighed. “You’re treating me like a beggar.”
“I can lead if you’re afraid.” You offered, he scoffed and with a wave of his scarred hand, your eyes were covered by darkness.
Being somewhat of a gentleman, he guided you to the abandoned ballroom and walked you both to the middle before letting go of your hands.
You did a slight curtsy and held up your hand. Unbeknown to you he bowed back before taking your soft palm in his and placed the other on your waist.
You prayed to the saints you wouldn’t step on his feet or your dress, saints know how embarrassed you’d be.
You quietly moved your other hand up to place it on his chest, perfectly aligned to his heart.
The two of you waltzed around the ballroom, your gown brushing away stray leaves on the floor. You leaned in closer to him. “You lead.” Without a beat he started dancing with you once more.
 - - - - - - - - - - - -
“The girl felt as if she had stepped back into the dream as they waltzed around.” The kids smiled and got closer as the page showed an illustration of a pair dancing and with the girl blindfolded with some kind of shadow thing.
“They’re in love!” One of the children declared with a grin.
“Not quite yet; For the first time since being taken away the girl felt at peace with him, as he moved them around she gently laid down her head on his chest, his heart fluttered at the sight of the girl.” The storyteller grinned.
“Does she love him yet?” Another questioned. “Let’s keep reading, shall we?” The kids nodded.
 - - - - - - - - - - - -
“Do you think you could love me?” He questioned, making you snap your eyes open and turn to face him.
Pushing him away, you huffed. “We made a deal…keep your promise..” you stepped back.
Unbeknown to you, he stepped forward towards you. “It’s been a while since I've had to promise something.”
Being upset, you let out a scoffed. “You dress yourself in fine clothing to cover up that you’re just a cruel and lonely beast that disgusts anyone!”
You could hear his footsteps leave the room, leaving you alone with a blindfold of darkness.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
It wasn’t till hours later that genya noticed your absence and while searching the palace that she helped guide you to your room for the night.
Once you knew genya was gone, you got up from the small vanity and opened the door and walked out to the hallway and explored.
As you roamed the palace, you had noticed as you approached the south wing, it had gotten messier.
You could hear two voices coming from a room.
“Just let her breathe for once!” It was genya.
“I have to kill her genya..”
“..you what?” Genya let out a gasp at his words.
Before you could hear more, you slowly backed away. Your blood ran cold as your back touched a wooden frame, you turned your head to look and froze at the portrait.
It was an old painting of luda and aleksander with their faces slashed out. The poor couple must’ve had the same fate..
You swallowed the scream you desperately wanted to let out and ran to the main hall where you had first stepped foot in.
As you stepped outside you quickly found your horse. After hopping on you had hoped for a way out of the hell you had been trapped in.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
A frantic David brusted through the doors making genya jump.
“What’s the matter david?”
David panted, clearly frantic at his news. “She’s left the palace..”
Genya snapped her head towards the beast who clenched his jaw before storming down to the main hall to find you, it was impossible for you to escape him now.
As you rode your horse through the frozen over lake, you panicked as growling came behind you, with a single glance you felt your hands start to shake, volcra.
Without noticing your horse bucked you off, making you fall onto the ice, you were too panicked to hear it cracking under you.
As you went to block yourself from a volcra that came sweeping down, a slash cut it in half.
You watched as dead volcra dropped around you.
You gasped as your savior straddle your legs, your eyes widened, it was aleksander…he was much more scarred then he was in your dreams.
“Now you know who I am;” He leaned in closer towards your face.
“Tell me again, how i disgust you.” You panted, trying to catch your breath as he leaned forwards, his eyes drifting towards your lips.
As he reached your lips the ice beneath you broke, dropping you into the freezing water.
Unlucky your dress had only weighed you down, you closed your eyes that felt heavy.
Aleksander sighed and quickly reached his hand into the water and pulled you up by your bodice.
He quickly took off his winter cape and wrapped you up and carried you back to the palace.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
“The beast gently laid her down on her bed, demanding his servants to help aid the girl.” The children gasped as they listened.
“Is she gonna be alright?” The smallest of the group asked, clutching onto the blanket sprawled out on their lap.
“Possibly?” The storyteller grinned.
“Possibly?!” The oldest squawked.
“You all should really get to bed now…it is pretty late…” The storyteller teased the children by closing the book and stood up from the chair.
“NOW!?”
“WHAT?”
“NO!”
“I won’t be able to sleep!” Their protests made the storyteller laugh before raising their hands in surrender and sat back down.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
You groaned as you opened your eyes to see the beast’s back towards you.
Due to the shock, you had a hard time recalling the moments before, you shook your head as Aleksander's face popped into your head.
You did manage to spot genya with the beast, the pair talking in hushed tones.
Genya smiled soft;y at you, noticing how you sat yourself up a tad.
Genya motioned in your direction with her chin.
You grasped the blanket in shock, it hadn’t been your memories clashing together, it really was aleksander in front of you.
“Leave us be for now genya..” The redhead nodded before leaving the room after placing down some more books.
Aleksander turned to you, if you hadn’t looked up at him, you wouldn’t have noticed the tint of concern in his dark eyes.
“How are you feeling?”
“Alright..” You mumbled back.
“That’s good..” He said as he rolled up his shirt, you let out a soft gasp at his forearms.
They had long open scratches on each arm, it was from the volcra..
“Thank you for saving me..”
Aleksander scoffed, moving his hand to hold pressure to his wounds, he had directed his attention to you that the painful stings were hardly there for him.
As he sat down on the vanity chair, you slowly moved from your bed and walked over to the pond of water and grabbed a cloth from the side and soaked it before ringing it out and walked over to aleksander, who had zoned out, his jaw still tensed.
You gently took hold of his arm before dapping the cloth onto the wound.
Aleksander hissed and went to yank his arm away. You huffed and tugged it back before dapping the cloth again.
“That hurts!” He hissed, in pain. His face closer to yours.
“If you stay still, it won’t sting as bad!” You hardened your features and stared at him, keeping the same distance.
Aleksander sighed and stuck out his other arm for you.
After re-soaking the cloth, you softly dapped the outside of his scratches. You both stayed silent. “Thank you again..” You spoke softly, watching how much pressure you placed on the wound.
“You’re welcome..”
- - - - - - - - - - - -
As the week passed, aleksander had genya and healers constantly check your health after the incident; in a panic aleksander had placed you on bed rest, in case you had harmed your bones somehow.
The days you had spent lounging in your bed, reading or talking with the others.
You perked up as the door creaked open, aleksander walked in, carrying in two plates of food. You had taken note of how softer he had become with you being injured, for a peculiar reason it had warmed your heart a bit.
“What’s for tonight?” You questioned, placing your book off to the side as aleksander handed you a plate and sat down in front of you.
“Lamb with potatoes..your favorite..” He joked.
You lifted your head letting out a small laugh.
“Yeah, love when it's scalloped too..” You teased, making aleksander grow a tiny smirk before taking a bite of his food.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Aleksander stood on his balcony, watching as you and David strolled through the garden, occasionally stopping to feed the birds.
He watched with a small smile growing on his face as you fell into the snow from bumping into David's side a bit too hard.
He froze as he noticed his own expression, genya glanced over at him.
“I think I wanna do something for her..but what?” Aleksander questioned.
Genya smiled at his words.
“Books.” Genya trailed off.
Aleksander sent genya a confused look. “She likes books, and I believe you have just a room for her.”
He grinned back at genya before nodding to himself.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
“Close your eyes…” You gave aleksander a weary look as you closed your eyes.
“Don’t bump me into anything please..” You pleaded, making aleksander chuckle before gently taking your hands and guided you down a hall. “I’ll try, very big on the try..” he grinned as you scrunched your nose up.
“I wanted to show you something..” He led you inside his library.
He left you in the middle of the room before moving to open the long curtains, you scrunched up as the light hit your face.
Aleksander glanced around the room before nodding to himself, he turned back to you and smiled.
“You can open your eyes now.”
Slowly you blinked your eyes, lifting your hand, trying to adjust your eyes to the light.
You gasped as you looked around you, it was a filled library.
“Oh my, it’s beautiful..” You admired the room, glancing everywhere.
“Then it’s yours, you can visit it anytime you want.” You glanced over to aleksander and gave him a smile.
“Thank you, this has to be the nicest thing someone’s done for me!”
Aleksander watched you explore the room with a subtle smile on his face.
“She could be the one..” Feydor smiled at Genya, who leaned against the doorway as you led aleksander to a bookshelf.
“I hope it’s her, he looks happier with her near..” Genya smiled.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
“Aww, he cares for her now!” The oldest girl grinned.
“A whole room?! For herself?” The youngest sat on their bed, mouth opened in shock at the drawing of the room.
“The girl and the beast slowly grew closer, even developing feelings, they would constantly be found in the library, the girl reading to the prince often. The girl had realized her new found feelings one day while the pair had gone on a walk through the palace grounds, the beast had given her his kefta to help keep her warm.” The storyteller smiled as the children were in awe of the story.
“The Beast had gladly accepted an invitation to have a dance with the girl. Each had spent hours preparing, knowing it'd be the night their feelings for one another would change. The girl had worn a beautiful ball gown chosen by genya.” The drawing on the paper had shown the girl in a black ball gown and her hair done.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
“You clean up pretty well..” You teased aleksander as you walked down the steps into the ballroom.
“Well, you look beautiful in that dress. Genya has good taste..” You both smiled, aleksander bowed before you, in return you curtsied back before placing your hands on his shoulder and in his palm, letting him guide you both around.
You watched with a smile as the bottom of your dress swung around the floor.
You both looked at each other as you both danced around, you occasionally helped him with the dance.
“Just don’t get my toes.” You teased as he pulled you closer. “I’ll try to avoid them..” He chuckled, glading you both towards the big window where the moon hung perfectly.
You both stopped, your eyes going to the lit up sky, while Aleksander's eyes went to your bright eyes.
You glanced over and blushed as aleksander stared at you with a loving expression. You both leaned in closer to one another.
Holding your breath as you could feel his breath on your lips, both of you closing your eyes as you leaned in further.
You both stopped as a bunch of whispers came from the doorway. You both pulled away, chuckling and feeling flustered.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Aleksander stood in the corridor of the library and watched as you sat peacefully in front of the fireplace, reading and occasionally stopping to get a sip of tea Genya had brought you earlier.
As footsteps approached, you glanced up from your book and smiled at aleksander. “Hello, care to join me?” He nodded at your words, sitting down beside you.
“What’s this story about?” Aleksander questioned, scooting closer to you.
“Maiden in the tower, it’s about this young girl who was kidnapped as a child, by this lady who was secretly thousands of years old. The girl had just found out she’s apparently her kingdom’s lost princess..” You explained the story as you turned the page to continue on.
As you read the reunion of the maiden and her family, Aleksander's eyes wandered from the page to the side of your face that held a bit of sadness.
He hated seeing you like that, knowing it was his fault you were separated from your family. Your eyes continued to move downwards across the page.
Aleksander sighed and placed his hand and lowered the book, gaining your attention.
“Y/n,” Aleksander sighed as he cut himself off.
“Yes?” You questioned, tilting your head a bit.
“I’ll let you return to your family on one last deal..” Your eyes widened at his words.
“What kind of deal?” You questioned, scooting closer to him.
“Promise you’ll never forget about me, I truly wished I had met you under different circumstances..” Aleksander sighed, placing his hand on your cheek, making you lean into his hand.
“I won’t, you were the first who put up with my “childish” self..” You teased, a few tears spilling from your eyes, realizing this was your goodbye.
“Here, this is for you.” He handed you a small necklace with a small rose on it. You smiled at the necklace and put it on, before pouncing forwards and tackled him into a hug.
“I’ll always remember you aleksander.” You hugged him, making the beast grunt at the strength of your hug, he wrapped his arms around you one last time before letting you go.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
You could hardly contain your enjoyment, after months of being apart, you’d finally get to be with your family, it did pain you to leave the palace and everyone behind.
As the horse trotted up to the house, you noticed the boarded up windows, you hopped off your horse and walked closer to the house.
Once closer the door swung open, revealing henry. He tugged you inside the house before hugging you.
The sound of the door had alerted the other, making them rush to see what had happened. “y/n..” Thomas said in disbelief.
You smiled and took off Aleksander's kefta and hung it on the coat rack. Unbeknown to you each of your brothers eyed your dress but stayed quiet.
Your eyes drifted towards the messy table, covered in maps, old food and weapons.
You scoffed and turned to your brothers. “Look at this mess, what are you doing with those weapons?”
The youngest let out a scoff.
“Ask henry..” Tristan sighed, looking over to the oldest who huffed at him. “Be quiet and go back to your post.”
“My post?” He questioned.
“HIs post?” You looked at your brother with wide eyes before shaking your head.
“So, you’re playing general now, are you?” Tristan egged on.
“Enough, just go back over there.” Thomas sighed, stepping between the pair.
“Stop taking sides, you big coward!” Thomas scoffed and went to swing but you and henry stopped both boys.
“Look at yourselves!” You called out to the pair, making them stop. “Here, y/n, follow me.” Henry said, walking up the stairs.
You followed shortly behind. Once on the top of the stairs, Henry gestured towards your sister's shared room.
You nodded and opened the door quietly.
“I just know they’re going to sell us to dirty sailors to pay Henry's debt!” Anne said, groaning hidden behind their loveseat.
“We’ll just say we don’t know how to clean-!” Marie tried reassuring her but the pair froze as they heard your footsteps.
Marie’s eyes popped over the seat and quickly widened at the sight of you.
“Anne…” Marie gasped out.
“What?” She whispered back, peeking her eyes over the seat too.
“it’s y/n’s ghost, she’s come back to haunt us!” Marie cried out.
“Maybe we’re dreaming still?” Anne questioned, watching you intensely. “It’s not a dream, i’ve come back with one last message..my dear sisters i loved you both truly.” You played into their frantic state.
“Even dead, she’s pretty..” Marie whispered out.
“I wanted you to know, i alway thought about you two..” You slowly walked closer to them.
“We thought about you everyday too!”
“It’s Anne's fault, she made me take your room..” Marie pointed subtly to the oldest sister.
You gasped and jumped on the loveseat in front of them. “You what?!” They screamed and jumped back.
You chuckled and looked at the both of them with a smile, “Where’s father?” You questioned, looking in between them.
“...since you left, he’s gotten incredibly tired, hasn’t woken up since..” Anne updated you.
You quickly rushed across the hall towards your father’s room.
You gasped as he laid in his bed, deeply asleep. You walked closer and held his hand.
“Father..I'm home now, you can wake up now..” You whispered to him, but nothing happened.
You let your tears fall, you carefully laid your head beside his on the other pillow and cried as you hoped he’d wake up.
While you fell asleep upstairs, Henry picked off a golden shank button on Aleksander's kefta. “This is worth hundreds, i could sell this and rid us of my debt!” Henry smirked, placing the button in his pocket.
“Not that, I forbid you!” Tristan protested, standing in front of the door. Henry sighed and looked at Thomas, who looked away. Henry pulled the button from his pocket.
Henry nodded to himself and tossed the button and caught it, he swiftly punched Tristan, making him pass out, Thomas quickly caught the younger brother and dragged him away from the door, they both left him laying on the ground before walking outside.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
You looked around and quickly spotted a glowing stag across the lake from where you stood.
“Look at her glossy coat..” You jumped and turned behind you to see the same group aleksander had hung out with in previous dreams.
“It’s finally her time.” One smirked, aleksander scoffed and raised a hand.
“She’s mine alright.” They all stepped back as he watched the animal move around before moving his hands.
The stag froze and looked in his direction before sprinting away.
Aleksander groaned before quickly chasing behind it.
You watched as the animal ran and was caught in the palace garden. You watched as aleksander stood in front of the others and hopped off his horse and walked closer to the animal.
He quickly raised his hands up and used the cut, at the moment it all had clicked in your head.
You watched as the stag laid on the ground, aleksander approached the stag and quickly froze as the animal revealed itself, there laid luda, a severe cut on her stomach.
You gasped at the sight. “Luda!” Aleksander yelled, running towards her.
She laid on the ground, she slowly raised a hand up to his face and gave him a tired smile. “You didn’t know any better..aleksander.” She shakily inhaled.
Aleksander weeped as his wife died in his arms. “I didn’t mean for this to happen..” He held her close.
You noticed how the sky quickly turned gray and stormy.
“Saints, forgive him, for he didn’t know.” You watched as aleksander’s friends where attacked by volcra, you turned around to face aleksander and luda and watched as volcra started to swoop down and attack him, earing brutal scars to his face and exposed body.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Thomas and henry stood in the snowy forest, waiting for orion to arrive to make a deal.
“You are betraying y/n..” Thomas paced back and fourth.
“I’m saving us, she’ll understand.” Henry’s expresson was stoic as he looked around the forest.
Before thomas could say anymore, Orion rode up on his horse, his men following shortly behind.
“What are you doing here, I thought we were meeting at your little shabby shack.” Orion smirked at the brothers.
“I brought my handsome men for your sisters..” He motioned towards his men which were known as the towns laziest drunks.
“I have a deal to make with you.” Henry dug the button out of his pocket.
“No more deals with you..” Orion sneered.
As orion and his men went to leave, henry moved towards them more.
“I’ll give you my sister..” Thomas froze at his brother’s words.
Orion turned to face henry, a smirk on his face. “Which sister are you talking about?”
Henry swallowed harshly, “Y/n, my family’s youngest.” he cringed as orion let out a joyus laugh.
“Perhaps, your sister could pay your debt.”
- - - - - - - - - - - -
You woke up sweating, you looked around the room and saw your father still asleep beside you, yelling came from the bottom floor.
You quickly got yourself together before walking odwnstairs and froze at the sight of orion who sat comfortably on the small couch, his filthy hands admiring your previously worn kefta.
“Ah, my bride is awake.”
Your blood ran cold at his words. “Bride?” You questioned.
Henry walked towards you, moving form where he stood against a wooden pole.
“You are to be orion’s bride to pay for this family’s debt.” henry gently grabbed your arm, you quickly yanked yourself away from him, orion scoffed and stood up from the couch and stepped closer to you.
“I refuse!” You backed up and bumped into thomas who had a stoic look on his face as he pushed you into orion’s arms.
“Not your choice!” Orion snarled in your ear as he brushed back your hair, making you cringe.
Thomas’ eyes grew wide as a glow from your necklace lit up before dying down to a slight glimmer.
“The forest..” a gruff voiced whispered, making you looked around the room and noticed the lack of orion’s men inside and out.
You took a deep breath before elbowing orion’s nose before running to your horse outside.
“That bitch!” Orion groaned, following you outside as you rode off into the forest.
You shuttered as you rode deeper into the cold forest. The sounds of horses flooded your ears as you glanced up and saw orion and his men.
In a panic, you leaned into the horse’s ear and whispered. “More than life itself.”  You leaned back and watched as the pathed opened up, you ducked as the horse sped up and ran through the prickly tress and frozen land.
As you approached the front, you eagerly hopped off your horse and ran to aleksander who stood outside the palace doors, almost if he was waiting.
He held you tightly as you huffed, tired of the journey back.
“I’ll keep you safe.” He told you, a scared hand brushing over the back of your head in comfort.
“There she is!” A voiced called out, making you jump as an arrow missed you both. Aleksander quickly lead you into the palace, you noticed the amount of people in the entrance, waiting for aleksander’s command.
“Looks like we have un wanted visitors, take care of them.” He commanded, leading you towards your room.
As you climbed the stairs to your room you caught a glance of aleksander’s grisha opening the palace doors to face the visitors.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
“As the beast lead the girl away, gaston had managed to slip through the doors and followed the trail. Outside the palace, saffin commanded grisha to attack two men who approuched the stairs but pleaded for them to give mercy, the two men had kneelded and whispered a name that struck saffin’s soul.
Saffin had froze and got a look of the men and saw the similar features the two shared with the girl, she quickly allowed them to pass into the palace, once in the brothers soon found gaston’s trail.” The storyteller spoke, pausing to flip the page.
“I hate gaston!” The youngest girl pouted in her bed, arms crossed as she listened.
“Is he going to kill the beast?!”
The storyteller chuckled before shrugging at the children.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
As you and aleksander walked into your room, you gasped as a knife deeply grazed aleksander’s side.
You looked behind his shoulder and saw orion not the far behind.
You quickly knelt down to aleksander’s side to help aid his wound.
“You’ll be alright we just need to get you to the-!” You gasped as orion held you against himself, a blade against your neck. “Let her go.” Aleksander rasped out as he held his side in pain.
“What are you suppose to be? A lion? A kitten?” Orion taunted, holding the blad closer, the steel pressing into your neck.
“I’ll kill you if you harm her.” Aleksander warned, you gasped as orion move you and himself into a corner of your room, using your body as a shield aleksander off. “Useless threats..” Orion chided aleksaner.
Before the pair could argue the door opened to your brothers, tristan and thomas who held their weapons in preperation.
“Y/n!” Tristan said, frantic as he noticed your positon, being used as a shield to a beast.
Thomas pointed his weapon towards aleksander which made you thrust forward but was jerked back. “Don’t, he tried to protect me from orion!” You groaned as orion nicked your throat, making a droplet of blood fall to the floor.
A red rosed blossomed from the bloodstain, you looked at aleksander who’s eyes followed the blooddroplet before lunging at orion, pushing you away and into your brothers side.
You hit you head on the floor but you looked in time to see aleksander use the cut on orion, who before being killed thrusted his blade into aleksander’s stomach, making him crumple over.
You quickly scrambled to aleksander’s side as he laid on the floor, holding his stomach.
“No, no, no, this came happen.” You whispered to yourself as you placed his head into your lap.
He coughed, blood staining his teeth, you sobbed as he let out a ragged breath. “You can’t die, you can’t..” You cried as he slowly raised his hand to your cheek and smiled as he brushed hair away, aleksander wanted to make sure his last moments were of his last love.
You watched as his breathing slowled down and his eyes got heavier. “Aleksander?” You tapped his cheek twice but no response, you fell forward and weeped.
In the corner of you tears, you saw a trail of glowing light leading toward’s the small pond of water, quickly connecting the dots you lifted yourself up and turned to your brothers who watched in pity as you cried for your lover.
“Help me, please.” You pleaded, thomas and tristan quickly tossed aside their weapons and helped lift aleksander into the pond, you placed your forehead against the edge and pleaded to the saints as he was submerged. The glow surround aleksander’s body.
Your brothers watched in shock as aleksadner’s scars slowly washed off under the water, his wounds began to heal closed.
Aleksander slowly opened his eyes and looked around in shock, he was alive once more.
He smiled softly as you whispered for him to be healed, he leaned closer. “I believe we’ve missed dinner.”
You gasped at his voice, quickly raising your head and smiled as he looked back at you, healed from any scars. “You’re alive!” You cried out, hugging him tightly, not caring if your gown got wet.
“Always alive for you.” He grinned, embracing you tightly.
On the outside, the palace overgrown look had started to vanish, the garden being washed over by a wave of light, genya looked up and smiled as she saw the vines on the palace vanish, you had broke their curse to the palace.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
You smiled as you and aleksander stepped out onto the ballroom floor, surrounded by other couples.
“Certian as the sun,
Rising in the east
Tale as old as time,
Song as old as rhyme,
Beauty and the beast”
You smiled at aleksander as you both danced. “What is it? Do i have something on my face?” He quickly rised his hand to wipe his beard, making you smile and laugh.
“Is it bad, i want to have your scratched up face again?” Aleksander’s eyebrows rose up at your words.
“Oh? Is that how it is wife?” He snickered, drawing you in close to kiss your cheek.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
“They couple had gotten married and had a huge wedding, y/n’s sisters had found husbands amongst aleksander’s grisha, henry had apologized to y/n and aleksander which after a few years they made up. Tristan had taken up being a guard for his sister, and thomas had gone on to write books, several for his children and nieces and nephews!”
“It’s over?” The youngest boy questioned.
“Sadly, but I say they lived happily ever after..” The storyteller grinned at the children.
“Genya looks like ms saffin from the book!” a flicker of the lights made the kids turn to the door where you stood with a grin.
“Bedtime check, goodnight munchkins!” You grinned as your nieces and nephews all said goodnight to you and genya before settling down, as you closed the door you heard them talking about the story to each other as a bedtime talk.
“Thank you again genya!” You thanks the woman who smiled and shook her head. “I have to get practice for the newst member.” SHe winked at you before walking to her quarters.
You quietly walked towards your bedroom on the top floor, You quietly opened the door and smiled at the sight.
“Mommy!” Your little boy squealed flinging himself at you from the bed. “My loves!” You smiled as aleksander walked into your bedroom his hands behind his back. “What are you hiding?” You questioned, making aleksander grin as he pulled out a red rose and handed it to you. “Fresh from your garden.”
“Thank you but i believe the garden full of roses are enough of your affection for me.” You teased, kissing aleksander.
As you and aleksander slid into bed with your son in between you all talked for a bit before he asked for a story.
“Alright, i’m a bit rusty so apologiges but, once upon a time there was a rich merchant.” You smiled at the story and snuggled into the blanket as aleksander sat up to tell the story to your son.

He found love
Tumblr media
Summary: Aleksander finally understands what true love is.
Warnings: None I think, just tooth-rotting fluff
A/N: I know I disappeared for a long time, but there's a lot going on. I'm trying to make all the request. I love all❤️
Aleksander and the sun summoner -Alina- were the most loved couple in Ravka. Everyone talked about how cute and strong their love is.
It was until Aleksander met you. You; the dragon queen. You were able to communicate, tame and control the dragons all over the known world.
The first time Aleks saw you, you were training with your dragon. He was absolutely enchanted from then on.
When most people meet someone they are instantly attracted to, their heart races and their palms sweat and their brain turns to mush.
But not the Darkling.
He noticed all of these things and more, but kept his demeanor calm and unruffled. His face was a mask of composure, his breathing slow and steady.
Only one part didn't follow suit, one part that the Darkling's powers and will could not control. His heart was beating so loud he was afraid everyone could hear it, despite the fact that he stood perfectly still.
"Ohh Good afternoon General" you beamed like a sunshine. He couldn't wrap his brain around how someone so powerful could be so kind and pure at the same time. He thought already met the sun, but it wasn't like that all. No, you weren't like that. You were like the brightest star he has ever seen. Full of light on the night sky.
"Hello" he said, as if he could say anything other than that, not taking his eyes off your face for a second.
The way you talked was so genuine, there was nothing artificial, nothing put on. Your voice was like music to his ears, and seeing a smile cross your face was like seeing the sun rise after a cold, dark night.
He could already feel his control slipping, and yet something made him want to hold on, even if only for a moment.
"How are you today?" you asked, smiling.
"I am well" he said, his voice soft and gentle, "What brings you here?"
There was something different about how he spoke with you, something he wasn't even aware of himself. Normally he spoke with such authority and command, like a general issuing orders. But with you his voice was... softer. You saw something flicker in his eyes as he looked at you, some inner struggle that he was fighting. It was almost as if he wasn't as sure of himself, as he always was.
"Ohh just training with Firefly" you pointed at the young dragon which was jumping around the field like the baby he was.
"He needs to learn a bit" you explained.
He felt a smile spread across his face as he watched the dragon. It was a warm, genuine smile, which faded just as quickly as it arrived. He cleared his throat, trying to keep his composure, as he asked.
"Do you need any assistance?"
Suddenly a thought crossed his mind. He could help train your dragon. A simple task, but one he felt he could do. Maybe then you would smile that warm, genuine smile again.
"Well if you want to?" you shrugged. "It'd be good to have company" with a smile, you turned back to Firefly. He could feel his face heat up, and yet for some reason he felt the need to accept your invitation.
"Yes, I would love to join you" his voice was still soft and gentle, and he watched you with a curious expression on his face as he went to your side.
"Good" you grinned. "Here.." you handed him a fish. "I know it's gross, but I'll show you what to do with it" you explained.
You grabbed an other fish from the whistled to Firefly.
"Okay...Firefly! Sit!" you commanded to the dragon. Your voice and the way you told the creature what to do made Aleks's heart race.
He was already in awe of you for being able to command an entire dragon, but the way you did it was like magic. The dragon seemed to listen to you instinctively without any resistance at all.
Once you gave the command he watched as the dragon sat down with a low grumble. And yet you seemed completely unfazed by the dragons size and potential danger. To you it was just... a dragon. Seeing you command a dragon like that made his admiration for you grow even more, if that was even possible.
"Now give him the fish as a reward" you smiled at Aleks. He took the fish from your hand, and the dragon looked up at him instantly. Even if it was just a dragon to you, to him it was still a large, powerful beast. Yet it almost seemed to show some signs of shyness as it looked at him.
As he held the fish out the dragon came closer and began eating it, almost like a dog. He felt a smile spread across his face as he watched, there was something about this moment that made him feel... happy.
"How was it? Isn't it amazing?" you asked excitedly.
"It's incredible," he said as the dragon finished the fish, "To be able to control such a beast, I have never seen anything like it."
He looked at you with a feeling of wonder and amazement, his admiration for your powers growing even more.
However, even as he watched the magic you wielded, something else was catching his eyes. How you looked at the dragon and spoke to it almost like it was a human, with love and compassion. This was something else entirely. It moved something within him.
He knew deep down that he was still with Alina and he loved her. He loved her until that moment with you. When you talked so passionatly about the things you loved he felt like he fell more and more in love with you. Aleks forget about Alina and their relationship. All he knew was you.
He hadn't even noticed that he had moved closer to you, until your arms brushed against each other and your voices grew softer.
He felt the hair stand up on the back of his neck, and his breath caught in his throat.
The feeling of being near you was like a drug, intoxicating him, and suddenly he didn't even remember what he was doing or why he was here. He was so focused on you.
You were his entire focus now.
"Hi" you smiled when he got so close to you that your chest touched. It felt like time moved in slow motion as your chests touched, and suddenly everything stopped.
He felt so many emotions in that moment, fear, joy, confusion, arousal. His heart raced, and yet for some reason he didn't pull away, not now, not ever. He finally said with a voice so soft you could barely hear it,
"Hi, Angel" when his lips gently brushed yours, you made a confident move and pressed your lips hard to his.
And that was the moment he knew; He found true love. He found you.

Beautiful Girl in a Broken World (TW)
Summary: All your life you have felt powerless against Aleksander. But when he takes things too far, you finally find your voice to stand up to him. Genya attempts to belittle herself, but you don't let her.
Genya Safin x fem!morozov!reader
Word count: 4.3k
Warnings: Crying, fighting, mentions of sexual abuse, toxic parent.
Note: You're adopted, so it doesn't get weird, I swear. And I don’t remember the catacombs scene word for word, so bear with me :’) also, y/n has a certain amount of selective mutism.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ever since you were a child, you had been a very quiet, gentle, and agreeable person. So quiet that you could slip out of a room of three people, unnoticed. So agreeable that you would commit a crime for anyone who you held close to your heart. So gentle that you couldn't bear to even think of raising your voice at anyone who made you feel bad.
Aleksander, your father, took these abilities for granted the very moment he realised how you could benefit him.
He kept you like a secret weapon, unleashing you carefully, using your abilities to his advantage. He gifted you to the Queen as her aide and deputy lady-in-waiting. He was twisted enough to use you as bait for the King, allowing him to do as he pleased with you as long as it meant Aleksander would remain General.
You couldn't say no as his rotten lips went over your skin, you couldn't push him away, because fear for yourself froze you in place, and fear of angering your father made all reason simply vanish from your mind.
Naturally, when the King tired of you, your convoluted father gave him Genya.
Sweet Genya who talked to you every day after you both helped the Queen prepare for her evenings. Kind Genya who always made sure you weren't left alone at mealtimes or during lessons. Beautiful Genya who had all the boys after her, because of her wavy auburn hair and unique amber eyes.
You were furious to find out what he had done. Till date you can remember the white-hot fury that had coursed through your veins as Genya arrived sobbing at your room the first night the King had forced himself on her. The way your skin prickled, your body threatening to unleash unforgiving darkness upon the land as you saw the blood on her thighs and clothes.
However, you still felt guilty about how you couldn't confront Aleksander about it. Still felt angry at yourself for being powerless under his heavy, dark-eyed gaze. Still felt so hopeless because the words died in your throat that day before they could escape your lips.
"What is it now, Y/n?" He had asked as you approached him timidly the next morning.
"Father, I heard that Genya had gone to the King's rooms last night," you had said, trying not to mumble.
"Yes," he had hummed, "She is my spy, Y/n. That doesn't concern you. Your time to serve as a spy for me has passed." With a wave of his hand, he had then dismissed you from the room.
You had wanted to tear out your father's eyes, wanted to scream how could you do this to her, to me? But you couldn't.
So here you were, outside your father's chambers while he punished Genya for deserting him on the other side of the door. Tears ran down your cheeks like rivers from your eyes, as you pounded on the door with your fists, your normally quiet voice raised to a shrill shout, calling out for your father to stop, calling out to Genya to see if she was okay.
He pulled the door open sharply and caught you around the collar, dragging you inside the room.
Your heart stopped in your chest.
Genya was weeping with her head buried in her hands, kneeling on the floor, quaking with fear. Black blood seeped from between her fingers as her shaky hands tried tailoring her wounds shut. You made a move to go to her, to put your arms around her and comfort her, but Aleksander held you back.
"Keep her in the cell," he said scathingly. "Tomorrow everyone will see her face. Everyone will be reminded of the consequences if they dare to try and double-cross me."
"No!" Genya screamed. It broke your heart.
You struggled against your father's iron grip weakly. "Father, no, please don't do this, I'm begging you!"
"Silence," he said sternly, as if you were just some otkazat'sya who he couldn't bother listening to, and you did just that.
Another win for him. Typical Y/n.
"Come," he said, beckoning you to where you knew he was keeping your grandmother.
Baghra. You adored her from the moment you had met her all those years ago. She didn't show it much, but you knew she adored you back. A rare phenomenon in her case. Aleksander had imprisoned her, just to work on another amplifier so he could defeat Alina.
"Sit down," your father ordered the moment you entered the room.
"Baghra," you whispered, trying to get her to look at you. "Grandmother."
She did look at you, finally, and gave a small nod of understanding towards you.
The guards had set up a second cage beside hers, and in that, they stuffed Genya. You made a noise of protest, but it was too soft for them to hear. You made eye contact with her and your e/c irises said it all.
I'm sorry.
You hoped she wouldn't look at you with loathing, hoped she didn't hate you now. Hoped that she knew how much you loved her, and that you would try your hardest to be heard, try to be a crack of thunder in a storm instead of just a gentle breeze on an autumn evening.
She looked at you like she always had, with warmth and adoration. Her blinded eye, too, somehow held that expression. It vanished, however, the moment the Darkling looked at her.
"Put out your foot, Y/n," your father ordered. You frowned and did just that, but you didn't see the mallet coming.
Aleksander nodded at the nearby guard, who took the mallet and swung it down onto your shin, shattering the bone with a sickening 'crunch'. You felt red-hot pain sear through your body, and cried out, clutching your leg gingerly.
"Why would you do that?" You screamed, shocking everyone in the room. No one had ever heard Y/n Morozova ever raise her voice. Hell, some of them thought you were mute. "I didn't do anything!"
Aleksander gestured at a Heartrender standing at the door, ordering him to extract some of the bone shards from underneath your skin.
"Hold her down," he ordered the guards. You thrashed about as much as your pain-riddled body would allow, sobbing uncontrollably. Both with pain and betrayal.
"Aleksander, stop this madness!" Baghra exclaimed as the Heatrender readied himself to remove the shards from your leg. "She's just a child!"
"A girl of nineteen is hardly a child," said the man with as much emotion as a teabag, speaking over your cries and screams of pain, as well as Genya's pleading voice. "Her bones are as valuable as yours, since she has some Morozova blood within her, and she is thus an amplifier."
"Do I repair the rest of her leg, General Kirigan?" Asked the second Grisha who had come in with the Heartrender.
Dismissively, Aleksander nodded, and the Healer set to work. However, with the missing chunks of bone, he said, "I'm afraid she will need a cane for the time being. If the cast doesn't work and she feels pain after the next one week, it means she'll have to use the cane for the rest of her life."
"No matter," shrugged your father.
How could he?
You waited till the Healer had fixed you up as best as he could, trying your best to ignore the pain which was still very sharp in your leg.
"What in the name of the Saints do you mean 'no matter', Father?" You scowled. "Does the fact that I'm a cripple now mean nothing to you?"
"Broken things are more fragile even if you fix them," said Baghra. "You know this, Aleksander."
"Y/n," Aleksander's voice was gentle and kind. He always did this. One moment he was the best father in the world, all kind words and sweet smiles, and the next, he was a monster in a man's body, watching as a stranger shattered his daughter's legs. "Think of how powerful we would be-"
"No," you said softly.
His gaze hardened. "No?"
You shook your head, "I'm done with your games, Father. This," you nodded at your leg, "This was the last straw. I cannot walk properly anymore. You mutilated the girl I love, and put my grandmother through things far too violent to recount. I loved you, she loved you, and Genya trusted you."
He rolled his eyes. "Where are you going with this?"
You knew you couldn't attack him. It would risk unleashing the nichevoya. So you used your words instead.
"Are you so oblivious?" You whispered. "All my life I have agreed with you, done as you asked. I let a man violate me in unspeakable ways, just because I did as you asked. You have used me, you have used my Genya, and you have used Baghra. You are a disgusting man, Aleksander Morozova. A disgusting man, son, father, and general.
Did you feel nothing when I came to you with blood on my nightgown, crying about the King? Did you feel nothing, when I said I didn't want Genya playing your spy?" Your eyes brimmed with tears. "Did you feel nothing when that guard smashed my leg and broke it like a stick?"
"Sacrifices for power," he sighed. "You are too young to understand."
"Age and eternity have made you emotionless," you shook your head. "They have stripped you of your ability to love, to cherish, to feel. You sacrifice to fill that void, you sacrifice because you know that alone, with your sins, you are not enough."
You felt fear seize your body when he caught you by the collar again and threw you nearly clean across the room.
"Learn your place, girl," he seethed. "I am your father. Never speak to me that way again."
You struggled to get to your feet, leaning against the nearby wall. Anger kept within for too long bubbled up within you, heating up into white-hot fury.
"My place, Father, isn't something you can dictate. This isn't Fjerda, this isn't the medieval times. I am a woman, a girl, a daughter. I have stayed silent for too long, letting you do with me, with others, as you please," you clenched your fists, darkness cloaking the room threateningly. "So, Father, do you ever want to say you're sorry? Will you try to make amends? Try to be a better person?"
"Quite the speech," he raised a brow. "But I am powerful, and no one will stop me from getting my Summoner. Especially not you."
He took you by the arm firmly and led you out, not caring that you were limping and hopping terribly. Genya cried out for you, begging him to be gentle, but with no avail.
"Stay in your room," he seethed, shoving you inside your room none too gently. "I have business to attend to."
You waited till he closed the door, and collapsed on your bed, screaming bloody murder into the pillow as you cried.
--Time Skip--
Night had fallen, and till then only one guard had knocked on your door to give you food.
"Cripple," he spat in Ravkan, making you nearly use the Cut on him in anger.
Your father hadn't returned yet from his twisted expedition, and you decided it was high time you broke your best friend and grandmother out of jail.
You knew that the guards deserted your corridor at exactly nine-thirty for patrol rounds. Quietly, or at least as quietly as you possibly could be, you snuck down the corridor to the room where you knew they were.
You slipped inside the room, and knelt in front of Genya's cage, breaking the lock with all your strength. It was rusty from lack of use, and came apart with the barest of snaps.
She avoided your gaze and covered her face with a hand, shrinking away from your touch. She didn't want you to see her this way. You found it odd, but shrugged it off. Naturally she wouldn't want to see you. You were the Darkling's daughter. She had no business looking at you the same.
"Please, get yourself to safety," you said quietly, moving away from her.
You felt hurt that she seemed to think you were like your father, that she seemed to fear you just as she feared him. You turned to Baghra's cage and broke the lock as well, feeling a little twinge of happiness on seeing her smile slightly.
You knelt in front of her like a knight would kneel before his King, ignoring the pain in your leg, and said, "I'm sorry for how my father has treated you. I'm willing to pay for his sins, I swear on it."
Baghra touched your shoulders gently, prompting you to rise. "Don't take accountability for Aleksander's sins, child. This was his choice, and he must pay for it. You are not defined by his actions, because you have proved time and again that you have tried your best to rebel against him."
You scoffed a laugh, helping her up. "I can hardly call cowering and giving unheard suggestions 'rebellion'."
"You'll understand what I mean with time, my dear," smiled the woman. She looked at Genya, who had laid waste to the table, save the bottle of amplifier which she now held in her hand.
You three escaped just barely, because your limp slowed them down. You apologised profusely along the way, and when they paused for a rest, you scoured for a branch which could double as a cane for you temporarily. When you did, walking became a thousand times easier. The entire journey, Genya didn't speak to you or look at you. Whenever you moved close to her, she'd scurry farther down the path, muttering to herself.
'I'm not like him,' you wanted to say. 'I'm in love with you, Genya, I'd never do anything to hurt you.'
But of course, the words didn't come.
Finally, you three came upon the hideout where everyone was. Genya was tackled in a hug by Alina, while you hung back, standing behind Baghra timidly. You knew you wouldn't be welcome there.
"Baghra," Alina said with relief, moving over to her. However, the second she did, the woman moved forwards to reveal your quietly standing figure.
Disgust painted everyone's faces and you saw people draw weapons, or, in the case of the Grisha, put their hands up defensively.
You didn't say anything.
Alina's piercing gaze was enough to make you want to shrink into the walls, and you nearly cowered with fright when she readied herself to attack.
"Alina," you were shocked as Genya spoke up. "She's harmless, don't worry."
"She's about as harmless as a viper," scowled the girl.
“Alina, trust me, she’s not like him,” said the redhead. “She’s the opposite.”
You put your hands up in surrender and shook your head, "I-I'm nothing like my father, I swear."
"I vouch for that," Baghra said with a nod.
"Fine," sighed Alina. She nodded at your leg, "How'd that happen?"
You cleared your throat and willed yourself to speak louder. "My father. He smashed my bone with a mallet to use as an amplifier."
"Saints," she scoffed, "That man is a psychopath. Tamar," she looked at the Heartrender, "Please see to it that she has a proper cane, and do help ease the pain a bit."
"T-thank you," you stammered, nervous of the girl who's eyes were no more scathingly trained on you. They were soft with concern, as she smiled slightly and nodded.
"Come on then," the Shu girl grinned, taking you by the arm gently. "Let's get you patched up better."
You nodded and followed her out, while Genya went to tend to Adrik.
Twenty minutes of excruciating pain later, your leg was mostly healed, but given the way it had been broken, they said there was close to no chance for your complete recovery.
A Fabrikator named Viktor fashioned a cane for you from the branch you were using. It was jet black, of course, with an intricate design of roses etched into the wood from the handle till the bottom which had a cap of silver on it.
You thanked him and Tamar smiled at you.
“Truly, you are unlike your father,” she said.
You blushed shyly and softly replied, “I’ve never found cruelty to be my area of expertise.”
Tamar patted your arm and helped you up, making sure you were putting your weight on the cane and not your leg.
You went to check on Genya, who, upon seeing you, fled from where she was sitting in front of Adrik, helping heal his hand.
“G-Genya?” You called out after her, your voice barely raised at all as you limped after her with as much speed as your leg would allow. “Please wait a moment, please.”
You both stopped dead in your tracks, when you ran into the Queen.
“You!” She gasped. “Guards! Guards!” She cried out, looking around frantically for them, her pale hair fluttering around her face.
She caught Genya by the wrist and seethed, “You both will pay for what you did! You monsters!”
“Please-please leave her be,” you pleaded, limping closer to the Queen, resisting the urge to beat her senseless with your new cane.
“Well,” she glared at Genya, “At least now you look like what you truly are,” she turned to you, “And you deserve to be crippled, you repulsive girl.”
“I-“ you faltered. You deserved it, didn’t you? You tried not to cry, as you gathered your thoughts, saying, “Please let her go,”
Genya yanked her arm out of the Queen’s grip, having had enough.
“Ask me how I did it,” she said, with venom in her voice. “How we did it.”
Your heart leapt. She mentioned you in passing, that was good. Perhaps she didn’t hate you after all.
“What?” The woman was baffled.
“Ask. Me.” Genya said forcefully. The queen made a nod as if to ask, and the redhead continued, “Y/n made the poison. She wanted her revenge anyway. So, I put it on my body, for weeks. So that every time he touched me, every time,” her voice lowered to a hesitant whisper, “he kissed me, he would take a little bit into himself.”
“All he had to do was stop coming to her bed,” you softly added in.
Seething, the woman replied, “He was your King,”
“He brought it on himself,” Genya spat.
“He took advantage of innocent girls, girls who couldn’t fight back, because he was our King,” you limped forward to stand beside Genya, mustering up courage to look the Queen in the eye. “It was because he was our King, we were terrified to speak. Because no one would’ve believed us. And even if they did, they couldn’t do anything about it. So do you blame us, your Highness, can you blame us, for taking matters into our own hands?”
“Oh? The Darkling’s mute little puppet girl speaks,” scoffed the queen, making you shrink back with shame. That tone stung you hard. Where they never took you seriously, where people only saw you as a pushover who had no voice. “You both are monsters, murderers.”
“Madraya,” Nikolai’s smooth voice was a saving grace in this fight.
“Nikolai! You heard them, arrest these murderers!” She said, looking at her son.
He looked horrified. “No,” he shook his head. “Not after what I heard.” He looked at her with disbelief on his features. “Both of them were under your protection.”
“They are servants,” she scoffed in disgust. “And the cripple is a puppet for the enemy!”
“And you, the Mother of Ravka,” he said. “Your subjects were to be like your children. All of them,” he placed a hand on your shoulder and brought you forward. Your eyes stayed riveted on the ground. “And Y/n? Just by being here, she has shown that she is no puppet for the Darkling.”
The Queen huffed and flounced off, skirts billowing around her as she did.
“Thank you,” you nodded and moved back, when Genya turned to leave.
“I’m sorry,” said Nikolai.
“It’s not your fault,” said Genya, as she walked away.
You limped after her, calling out her name in vain. However, you cornered her at last in her rooms.
“Saints,” you panted, your leg aching horribly. You leaned your cane against a wall and tried catching your breath. “Saints, that hurts.”
“Y/n, please leave,” she said, packing up a bag for herself.
“No!” You said, annoyed. She looked at you at last. “No, Genya, I won’t leave.”
"Why not?" She scoffed. "Look at me, Y/n."
"I always am," you said. "I am always looking at you, Genya."
"Are you, now?" She laughed drily. "Honestly, Y/n, you don't have to pity me, alright? We aren't on the same boat, if that's waht your thinking."
"I have always thought we were oceans apart, Genya. With you all confidence and kindness, while I shrank away from the slightest word spoken to me," you said, your e/c eyes shining in the dim light, making it look like they had stars in them. "But that didn't stop me from loving you."
She looked at you incredulously, "Loving me?"
"Yes," you smiled, limping over to her hesitantly. "Since the day we met, I never stopped loving you. And this day is no diffferent. Scars or no scars, you, Genya Safin, are stronger than Grisha steel, and more beautiful than anyone I have ever encountered. You are a beautiful girl in a broken world, and-and if anything, your scars make you more beautiful in my eyes. It would be my honour to say that I am yours, Genya."
She stepped closer to you, taking your hands in hers. "Can you bear waking up to a scarred old face beside yours every morning?"
"It isn't something to bear, because burdens and problems are what we bear. This is no problem. It is a trophy, a symbol of your victory and strength, my Genya," you smiled. "I understand if you wouldn't want me, though."
"Why wouldn't I want you?" She asked. You were too oblivious, in her opinion. Had you forgotten the nights you both slept together, wrapped up in each other's embrace? The times she'd kiss your forehead to make you feel better? The times she hadn't denied it when people asked her if you and her were a thing?
"I am a cripple now, Genya," you accepted it with a shake of your head. "You protect and care enough for people. I don't need you doing that for me, because it would just add on to your own personal burdens.”
Genya came closer to you, taking your hands in hers. Her seeing eye was a deep gold in the dim light—a shard of the setting sun sparkling with love.
“Have you never noticed that I am in love with you?” she asked, making your heart leap. “Do you know how many times I’ve kissed your forehead, wishing it was your lips? Wishing that we could embrace with just the sheets between our bodies?”
“Um…” you felt yourself lean on her palms slightly. “Sorry,” you nodded at her hands clasping yours a little tighter now, with the weight on them. “But why did you run from me?”
“Don’t be sorry,” she smiled sadly. “I ran because I thought that you would find me ruined now, with this.” She touched her fingers gingerly to her scars.
“Never,” you shook your head, shifting your weight to put more on your good leg, so you could hold her face in your hands. “My Genya, you should never think you aren’t the most gorgeous woman on the face of this planet, because Saints alive, I have never seen a woman so kind, loving, and caring as you. It shows on your face, and it only makes you more breathtaking.”
In the dim light, you saw her blush, just the barest dust of pink under her skin.
“That’s probably the most you’ve spoken in your whole life,” chuckled the redhead, leaning into your touch. It startled you, and in turn, made you blush a rather unsubtle red.
“I-um,” you tried pushing out the words which wanted to leave your lips so desperately, but all you could do as she stepped closer to you was exhale softly, “Genya…”
“That’s the first time you’ve said my name that way,” she smiled, looking up at you slightly as her hands rested on your waist. Her gaze skirted down to your lips and to your eyes as she asked, “May I?”
Your heart leapt, the words struggled again. You nodded wordlessly and she tilted her head up, pressing her slightly dry yet soft lips on yours. The words came again as you both stood there in the dingy underground room, just kissing.
Your heart pounded in your chest, your thumbs stroking her cheeks as you prayed to all the Saints that your palms weren’t sweating. You wanted this moment to last, this first kiss to extend into forever. The world faded around you, the panic of your father’s attack, the fear you felt in front of the Queen, all forgotten as you focused on Genya.
I love you, I love you, I love you.
The words didn’t come, they failed you again. But you didn’t mind this time.
You smiled against her lips, and kept your e/c eyes riveted on her as she pulled away, her face finally cracking into a large, bubbly grin.
You let your hands fall from her face and held her hands in yours, trying not to giggle.
“Did we just do that?” She asked.
Wordlessly, you nodded, folding your lips into your mouth as a loud, childlike giggle threatened to escape your lips.
She leaned up to kiss your cheek and whispered in your ear, “Perhaps we could work on your voice sometime?”
“Um,” you nodded your head and asked, “Would-would you help me?”
“Of course, Y/n,” she smiled.
“I-I’ll speak a hundred words a minute for-for you,” you said, out of breath suddenly. “It will just take some time…”
“We have all the time in the world, my love,” she brushed her thumb gently over your bottom lip, causing a shudder to go down your spine.
You took her hand and kissed it gently, before pressing another kiss to her cheek where her longer scar was.
“All the time in the world,” you repeated with a smile.
She nodded and took your hand, holding it while you grabbed your cane and the both of you walked out of the room, back to where the others were.
As the torchlight cast long shadows on the wall, and you sat beside her silently while the others gave strategies on their next move.
Ever so often you would glance at Genya, who wore a thoughtful look on her face. The dim torchlight fell from behind her, highlighting her profile in gold.
‘Why have you condemned her to suffer such hardships?’ You silently asked the Saints. ‘Why do you make every effort to make her suffer?’
The answer was a simple one, which you could practically hear those damned Saints reply.
Because fate isn’t kind to those who have beauty like hers.
Because she is a beautiful girl in a broken world.

So Ben Barnes is insanely handsome and Freddy Carter is ridiculously beautiful. But then you put them together and it's like HOLY SHIT. It's such a crime that they're not on the screen more together.
The way Ben is clutching Freddy's hand is just–
