Sneaky Link (Billy Russo x Castle!Reader)
MASTERLIST // TAG LIST REQUEST
A/N: Nonnie, the way i RAN to my computer to write this. You’re a genius! Here you go!
Request: Oke so hear me out please...So, Billy Russo and Frank Castle's sister in a backstreet relationship. I know i know it's lame, but i can't imagine Frank's face when he finds out that his sweet-not-so-innocent sister fuck his asshole-but-charming best friend.. Hope you like that idea <3
Tumblr media
Summary: Billy finds himself in trouble with his best friend, Frank, when Frank finds out he’s been messing around with you, Frank’s sweet and innocent sister.
(Warnings: Smut at the beginning, oral (fem receiving), reader is called good girl, cursing (lots of cursing), Frank and Billy get into a physical fight with each other (lol), fluffy Billy, not canon obv)
“Oh fuck, Billy. Just like that. Don’t stop.” You moaned, arching your back. Billy’s tongue was currently making you see stars for the third time that evening. The soft comforter on your bed was soaked in sweat, and Billy wasn’t letting up anytime soon.
“You like that, baby?” He mumbled, circling his tongue around your clit. “Gonna cum again, princess?”
“Shit, shit, shit, shit, yes.” You breathed, squeezing your eyes shut. Your legs were shaking uncontrollably on Billy’s shoulders, who was somehow smirking and still managing to inch you closer to your release.
“You’ve been such a good girl today. Cum on my tongue, princess.”
The moan you let out was unholy as Billy focuses all of his attention on your clit, sucking and licking in perfect tandem. Your body seized as your third orgasm of the day rushes through you, a spark of fiery lust traveling down your spine. Billy doesn’t let up until you physically shove his shoulders away, heart pounding and ears ringing.
You gulp in air, turning to lay on your stomach. Billy’s soft hands run up and down your spine in soothing strokes.
“You did so good, baby.” He mumbled into your ear, planting a soft kiss on the back of your neck.
“You are going to be the death of me, Billy Russo.” You responded, resting your cheek on your folded hands.
“You love it.” He scoffed, chuckling.
You push yourself towards the edge of the bed, searching for your underwear in the trail of clothes that started at your front door and ended by your bed.
“Where are you going?” Billy made himself comfortable, stretching out on the sheets and resting his hands behind his head.
“I told Frank I’d meet him for drinks. That’s where I was headed when you knocked on the door. And now,” you check the time on your phone, “I’m very late. If you leave before I get back, lock the door behind you.”
Billy’s frown is evident as you toss articles of clothing around trying to find your dress. You knew bringing up Frank would cause some anxiety, but you really were going to meet Frank.
“When are we going to tell him?” Billy asked, pointing out the dress that he’d carefully laid on the armchair before ravishing you.
Billy and you had been messing around for months now, all behind Frank’s back. It wasn’t that you were ashamed of Billy, but Frank had always been protective of you, and you were sure he’d be less than thrilled to find out his best friend had been fucking his little sister for the better half of a year.
It hadn’t started on purpose, you reasoned. Frank, you, and Billy had been drinking at a bar when Karen had called Frank, frantic about something. Frank had hurried off, leaving you and Billy to your own devices. Three shots later and Billy was pulling your top off in the bar bathroom.
After that encounter, you’d avoided spending any time alone with Billy, but Billy’s charming and handsome and so good at kissing, so your resolve only lasted a few days. Since then, Billy and you had been sneaking around Frank’s back, stealing glances at each other when Frank wasn’t looking, and sneaking kisses when you could get away with it.
It started as a casual hook-up, but it certainly didn’t develop as one. You and Billy were together. You cooked dinner for each other, went out on dates when you knew Frank wouldn’t stumble across the two of you, and spent most of your free time at each other’s apartments. He brought you flowers every week and referred to you as his girlfriend to his employees at work. You’d even gone to the Anvil Christmas party, albeit as Frank’s plus one, but you were still there, celebrating Billy’s accomplishments with him.
“Did you hear me? When are we going to tell him?” Billy’s voice brought you out of your thoughts.
“I don’t know.” You responded honestly. At this point, no matter how you did it, Frank would be upset that you’d hidden it from him.
“Do you not want to be with me?” Billy rarely sounded insecure, but in that moment, you could feel the insecurities rolling off him. You moved towards the bed, cupping Billy’s cheeks and kissing his nose.
“Of course, I want to be with you, Billy. You’re everything to me. I just don’t know how to explain that to Frank without him trying to murder you. And then me.” you added, pressing your forehead to his.
“We should tell him soon. I don’t like hiding things from him. We’ve always trusted each other.”
“I know. We’ll tell him soon. I promise, okay? But I really have to go.”
Billy nodded, kissing your cheek and standing.
A knock at the door had both of you on alert. You moved to answer it, but Billy stopped you and held out his shirt in his hands. You looked down and realized you were still naked, minus the underwear. A sheepish grin crossed your face as you threw the shirt on.
You swung open the door, ready to tell whatever solicitor that you weren’t interested, but you stopped short when you exchanged glances with your brother, who looked rightfully concerned.
“Where the hell have you been? I waited for you for over an hour, and then you wouldn’t respond to my texts or calls, so I thought ‘Oh she must be getting murdered. Then you open the door with this ridiculous smile on your face, like you aren’t incredibly late for something!”
Frank stormed through the door, and before you can respond, takes in the fact that Billy is standing in your bedroom doorway, shirtless and guilt-ridden. Frank turned and looked at you, glancing down at your shirt and then back at Billy, who is holding his hands up innocently. Frank’s face is stoic, but you can see the rage churning in his eyes. The apartment is so quiet you can hear Billy’s breathing from across the room. The calm before the storm, apparently.
“’the fucks wrong with you, you bastard?” Frank charged at Billy, who only lifted his hands higher to try and push Frank away from him.
“Frank, stop!” You yelped, trying to figure out how to stop Frank from killing your boyfriend. Frank slammed Billy into the wall, punching Billy in the jaw.
“It’s not what you think. I’m not just-”
“Just what? Fucking my sister? I thought you were different, Billy. What the fuck is wrong with you?” Frank’s fist connected with Billy’s face again, and you let out a yelp as blood starts to trickle down Billy’s face.
“Frank, stop! It’s not like that! He’s my boyfriend, Frank! We’re not just messing around!”
Frank freezes, mid-swing, and turns to look at you. He’s very clearly confused at your confession.
“Your boyfriend?” Frank drops Billy, who slumps against the wall and lets out a wheeze. “What do you mean, your boyfriend?”
“I mean, he’s my boyfriend, Frank. We’re together. And we should’ve told you, but I knew you’d react just like this, like a fucking psycho, so I didn’t say anything. And I made Billy promise he wouldn’t say anything to you. If you’re going to be mad at someone, be mad at me.”
“You’re together?” Frank looks between you and Billy, shaking his head. “Like together, together?”
“Yes, now can I please go put some pants on and trust that you’re not going to pummel his face in?”
“I need to talk to you.” Frank points at Billy, who stands and wipes the blood from his face.
“Yeah, alright.” He responds, nodding.
When you make it to your bedroom, you can hear the muffled sound of Frank speaking. He still sounded angry, but at least he wasn’t actively trying to punch Billy anymore. You searched through your drawers until you found an old pair of sweatpants, slowly pulling them on. You wanted to give Billy and Frank enough time to talk it out, but you didn’t want to leave them alone for too much longer.
You creeped through the doorway, where you found Billy sitting on your couch with an ice pack pressed into his jaw, and Frank, searching through your fridge.
“Is everything...good now?” You asked tentatively, looking back and forth between your boyfriend and your brother.
“Yeah, but I don’t wanna see any of that lovey-dovey shit. I’m not happy about it, but I can’t stop you from being an idiot.” Frank responded, pulling three beers out of the fridge and setting them on the counter.
Billy gave you a small smile, but grimaced when pain shot through his jaw again. You could already see the bruises blooming on his face.
“Okay...do you want to watch a movie?” You asked, trying to play it off like this was a totally normal night.
Frank handed you a beer, then handed Billy one.
“Sure, princ- Um.” Billy cleared his throat and said your name. Frank rolled his eyes and sat down next to Billy, which left you the seat next to Frank. You tried not to roll your eyes at Frank’s choice of couch cushions and flopped down next to him. It was going to be a long movie.
When Frank finally left hours later, he sent you a pointed look on his way out the door. He had barely looked at you or Billy the entire night, but you considered it progress anyways. It was better than physically punching each other.
Billy had stretched his legs out on the couch, propping his head up on a pillow.
“So that went...well?” He questioned, raising his eyebrows at you.
“Are you okay? I’m so sorry.” You rushed to his side, trying to get a better look at the bruises forming on Billy’s face.
Billy waved a hand and shrugged. “If all I got was a couple licks to the face, I call that a win. He’ll come around.”
Frank did eventually come around, but he certainly took his time. For the first month after his discovery, he wedged himself inbetween you and Billy as often as he could. Whether it be on the subway, in a bar stool, or at your house, Frank always managed to separate the two of you. It was frustrating, but Billy assured you that he would take the time he needed to get over it and come around.
When Billy took your hand to pull you out of the way of a fast-approaching cab one night, Frank eyed your intertwined hands, and then looked away, pretending not to notice it. You squeezed Billy’s hand in celebration but didn’t say a word. The first time Billy kissed you in front of Frank, he had gotten an emergency call from work and had to rush out of the bar you were sitting in. He had planted a kiss on your lips without thinking about the present company and bolted out the door, leaving you with a very red face.
Frank had taken a sip of his beer and continued the conversation you were having before Billy’s departure. The small victories were few and far between, but you and Billy were patient.
Finally, what felt like months later, Frank made a joke about Billy being your boyfriend, and you felt like you could finally relax. Billy clearly made you happy, so Frank got over it. Later that night, you were wrapped in Billy’s arms in your bed, half-asleep and listening to Billy’s voice as he read from your favorite book.
“You know,” Billy mumbled to your sleeping form, “I hope Frank doesn’t react the same way when I ask you to marry me.”
He chuckled as you snuggled into his chest, unconscious to the world around you. You and Billy hadn’t spoken about marriage, but he had clear intentions with you. He wasn’t going to let you get away.
He leaned over and clicked the lamp off, sending the room into complete darkness.
“Goodnight, my love.” He sighed, kissing your hair. “I can’t wait to say that to you for the rest of our lives.”

Y/N was the first emergency speed dial that Billy Russo had on his phone. It was ironic since your brother - Frank - was even closer to him. But to call Frank in an emergency would just make things worse. He was as bad as Billy when it came to situations that required not to panic because that is the first thing they would do. This is what their experience had taught them and made them used to.
You met Billy after Frank had returned from his first Marine Corps tour. In Frank's words, no one could survive even if they were fighting an empty handed Billy with a gun.
That is why after leaving the Corps, his decision to to start his own training company made perfect sense. Not to you, though. You had seen war change people and not everyone managed to get out. Frank and Billy however, had managed. So you did not see the need for them to be invested in something like this, no matter how much money it brought it.
You and Russo always had a will they won't they thing going on and it seemed to drive Frank and Maria crazy. But for different reasons. Frank didn't want his sister to be dating bad boy Billy and Maria just wanted the two of you to be happy but you were taking too much time.
You and Billy would flirt back and forth constantly and much too smoothly. The bickering on the other hand, was just as bad. You would fight on the silliest issue and say the stupidest things to bring the other one down. It would work but barely because then the other one would retaliate with something even harsher.
You were an architect and a good one at that. You didn't like to boast about it but your family sure did. In fact, you were the one who had remodeled the entire Anvil building, making sure to include spacious gyms, training rooms and multiple hide outs for practice drills.
Billy had always heard about your work from other people and teased you about how you must have bribed them to say that. When he saw your finished work for himself, he had patted your back and nodded his head. Which in your language meant that he liked it.
"You can see everything from your office up here with all the transparent walls but no one can see inside," you had told.
"Oh, wow. You are good for something! Who knew?"
"Yeah... Now you can bring all your floozies here and no one would even know..."
"Damn sure I will."
What you didn't understand was why him agreeing to bring other girls had hurt you. It was his office, he could do whatever he wanted. So suppressing that feeling, you had chosen to focus on your next projects and thinking about new comebacks.
You and Frank fought like cats and dogs when young but that went away eventually as you grew older. Random brunches, meeting at least twice a week, going for pizza was nothing new for your family. And it went without saying that Billy would ALWAYS be there.
You were not the one he went to for advice but you were always the one he came to when he needed someone to validate his feelings. Because you always agreed with him even when he was wrong and justified his anger. You both were extremely similar and perhaps that is why always kept bickering. The need to be right and emerge over the top drove the two of you.
However, you both admired and respected that the other one was on the top in their respective fields. A respect which was never verbal but shown through attending various events such as practice drills and open houses even if it was under the pretense of mocking and getting free drinks.
He knew you had one special boundary which he could never cross. It was disturbing you while you worked. You were fine with prank calls and could easily turn the tables on the caller but not when you were in your zone engrossed in a project. He had learned that the hard way when he tried messing with you on the phone, breaking your concentration and had to face the repercussions by not talking to you for a whole week. Although he couldn't understand why that had bothered him. It was not like you two were besties.
So when your phone rang while you were in the middle of a project, you groaned and checked your phone.
William
You knew he hated it when you called him that so you made sure to save his name that way. Rolling your eyes, you put the phone upside down and got back to sketching. Something felt wrong though. You had not seen Billy in 2 weeks which sent a clear message that you were busy. Then he must have had a reason.
Receiving the call and putting it on speaker, you went back to work.
"Hello?" You asked after a few seconds. "Billy?"
You didn't hear a reply, just some shuffling and thudding. You mentally cursed yourself. It was a stupid butt dial.
Billy was earning millions and yet he couldn't get a decent phone which somehow prevented this. You were about to hang up when you suddenly heard a door slamming. No, no, it was not that. It was a freaking bullet.
Your heart started racing and your hands got clammy. That was until you realised that Billy must be at Anvil. Bullet sounds were nothing new.
You were about to hang up when someone screamed. This was not a part of Anvil or drills, right? You intuition told you something was wrong. Very, very wrong. Grabbing your phone and keys, you rushed to your car and started driving towards Anvil.
Your mind was racing with thoughts about Billy. You prayed desperately to anyone who was listening for him to be okay. He had helped a lot of people. He was the reason Frank's family was safe and hidden when Rawlin's men had come looking for them. Not only Maria and the kids, but he had protected you also.
He knew that the others had Frank to protect them but you did not. Sure, Frank loved you and he would do anything for his sister but Billy could not wait for the moment to decide whom would Frank choose to save in a matter of life and death. So one night after Frank and his family went into hiding, he brought you to his house.
It was not like you had not been there before but this had felt different... Intimate. He didn't let you step out of the house and neither did he until he was sure Rawlin and his entire network had been arrested and punished.
You claimed that sitting around doing nothing made them the worst 4 weeks of your life but you knew you were wrong. Billy also knew that you didn't mean it. What he didn't know was that he was the reason. He took care of you, cooked often and found silly reasons to celebrate with his expensive wine collection each night. He would be a perfect gentleman the nights you would get drunk and tuck you in. He would sit down on the floor next to the bed in the guest room and fall asleep there because you would not let go of his hand.
He was almost too afraid to let you go back to your apartment after everything has settled. He did not want to take any chance. He was at the door trying to hide his emotions when you had thrown your arms around his neck and pulled him into a tight hug.
"Thank you, Billy," you had whispered and he had nodded against you.
That one moment had almost led to so much more. And gosh you wanted it to! But then his phone had rang when you were about to kiss and that was that.
A loud horn snapped you out of your day dreaming when you looked up and saw a huge truck parked in front of Anvil. You had not completely entered Anvil's drive way so the driver hadn't see you yet. You waited for a few minutes to see what would happen. Billy's phone was going straight to voicemail so you decided to slowly get down from you car and go check inside.
You had just stepped outside when you saw 4 men in black with faces covered running outside and getting in the truck. They had huge bags which they had managed to take with them.
You quickly opened your door and opened your glove box. There it was. A loaded Magnum .22. Billy had given it to you just in case. He had also taught you how to use it and got you a license for it.
The truck had started reversing into the drive way to leave when Billy finally came out. His hair was disheveled and even from a distance you could tell he was panting. The rhythmic rise and fall of his chest made you feel things inside. You snapped yourself out of those thoughts and focused on the truck.
Realising that the bags must have something important, you moved a little forward and pointed your gun at one of the rear wheels.
"Y/N, no!" You heard Billy shout but fired anyway.
The tire popped with a loud sound. You then pointed to the second rear wheel. Without wasting a single second, you fired again.
You had never felt so charged up in your life before. Adrenaline was pumping through your veins and making your heart beat faster. Seeing Billy safe gave you a relief you weren't expecting to feel.
Putting your gun down, you waved to Billy, feeling extremely proud of what you had done. Instead of reciprocating your smile, he looked... Angry. No, he look worried and angry.
He started running towards you but you realised it a bit too late. One of the guys from the now-motionless truck had already gotten down and was pointing a gun at you.
Your eyes widened in fear and shock as you raised your own gun with shaky hands. You were trying to show that you were not scared but the truth was, you were very, very scared. And Billy was still too far away.
"What's that going to do to us?" The man laughed, looking at your gun.
Before you could shoot, he did. The noise was loud enough to scare you even further.
You only realised the bullet had hit you when your body jerked back in response. It had hit you straight in the abdomen and blood was spilling out all over your pink shirt.
You allowed yourself to sit down, the blood loss already making you dizzy. It seemed as if your brain had also stopped processing sound. Your half blurry vision caught Billy reaching the truck and pointing his own gun at the people inside through the window. The man who had shot you fell down suddenly and his blood started spilling all over the gravel.
"Shit," Billy cursed when he finally reached you. "I told you not to, Y/N," he shouted, adding pressure to your wound. "Why do you get involved in things you have no idea about!" His hands were now stained with your blood. "For once in your life do what I tell you to and keep your eyes open! You hear me, Y/N? Keep your goddamn eyes open!"
He quickly picked you up and helped you into the backseat of your car, getting into the driver's seat.
"I - I was just trying to help you," you said but the words barely came out. Instead, what came out was some more blood from your mouth.
"Shh... it's okay, baby... It's okay... I know," he said, extending his free hand to reach you.
He had been in the Marine Corps and seen things worse than someone getting shot in the abdomen. He had seen his own best friends die but this... This made his heart grip with fear. The best thing about you was that you were not in the army meaning no one could kill you the way Billy had seen people being killed. The way he had killed them himself.
"Keep your eyes open, Y/N!" He exclaimed, shaking your hand. The ride to the hospital was a blur to him. All he knew was that with each passing second, he was losing his own life. He did not have time for an ambulance to arrive. He could not gamble on someone else for your life. You were much too precious for that.
You were so tired. And so much in pain. You wanted to sleep for a while. Billy kept asking you to keep your eyes open but you promised him that you would sleep for just 5 minutes. He probably didn't hear you but that was okay. Someone in a white uniform opening your car door was the last thing you remembered before you finally allowed yourself to close your eyes.
When you tried to open your eyes, you were aware of someone crying into your hand. You turned your head a little and saw red hands holding yours and crying into them. You wanted to sleep again.
When you fluttered and opened your eyes next, you saw a man sleeping on the couch next to a big window.
The next time you opened your eyes, you saw how white the room was and the man on the couch was sleeping on a stool near your bed with his head near you. You tried to move your hand to reach his head but grew tired when you had reached only the elbow. You wanted to sleep again.
When you opened your eyes, you were able to make out Frank and Maria staring at you.
"I am not that pretty," you laughed.
"You had us worried, kid," Frank said, placing a kiss on your head.
"What happened?" You asked.
"Well, because you shot a bunch of tires and made a few bad people very mad. So they shot you."
"They did what?" You exclaimed, trying to get up but the sudden sharp pain in your abdomen pulled you down. "Ow... Okay, yes, that explains a lot of stuff."
That awful afternoon came back to you as Maria helped you with a glass of water. With the events of that day came back one word: Billy.
"Where - where is Billy?" You asked softly.
"We'll send him inside," Maria said softly. "He's waiting outside."
"I mean... Do we have to?" Frank questioned grudgingly.
"It is high time now, Frank..." She said and pulled him out.
You had closed your eyes again for a while when you heard a scraping sound and opened your eyes to see Billy dragging the stool to sit next to you.
"Hey, Bills," you greeted and reached for his hand. You were half expecting him to pull away but he did not. Instead, he brought it to his mouth and kissed it gently, keeping it pressed to his lips for a while.
"Do you know how worried I was?" He asked, voice breaking. "You were right there... In - in my arms, bleeding all over and I could do nothing... Nothing!"
"Hey..." You took your hand to his cheek, caressing it. "I am okay now, Bills. You don't have to worry..."
"You're okay now! Do you even know how long you have been out for? For 6 days, Y/N! 6 days! Do you see how scary that is? Who had asked you to jump in? Why were you even at Anvil?"
6 days came as a shock to you but even more shocking was Billy's reaction.
"You had called me by mistake and I - I guess I just knew something was wrong. So I had to come and check."
"Oh, of course you had to! No you didn't, Y/N! It was just some money! I had it handled."
"Sure you did, William," you laughed but something told you Billy wasn't in the mood for jokes.
"I almost lost you, Y/N! And I spent 6 days not knowing if you were ever coming back to me or not... Do you know how that feels?"
Your fingers traced the dark bags under his eyes which you had never seen before.
You sighed and moved to the side of your bed, making some space. Getting your message clearly, he climbed in next to you, his strong arms engulfing you at once.
"You have annoyed me to death, Y/N," he said softly, making you chuckle. "But you are my life and I can lose everything but you. Not you, Y/N."
"You mean more to me than I can ever put in words, Russo. You are my world... I love you..."
You looked up at him only to see him smiling. Nothing had ever felt better before.
"I love you so, so much, Y/N. And something tells me I won't ever stop loving you."
You reached his lips and captured them with your own, not letting go for a long while. You allowed yourself to melt even further into his touch and felt him place a kiss on your head.
He didn't stop loving you when you left the hospital and joined work. He didn't stop loving you when you scolded him for ruining Anvil's headquarters. He didn't stop loving you when Frank Jr. walked in on you and him... getting busy. In fact, he soon made his promise official in the front of the entire world when stood opposite to you and said 'I do'.

Pairing: Billy Russo x F! Reader
Warnings: None really, maybe a swear word or two but extra fluffy bunnies and unicorns
Word Count: 2.7k-ish
Summary: Part 1 of 3 (I think) Reader is in a bit of a romantic slump so she buys herself flowers every Friday until one day she finds out they’re already paid for.
A/N: Based on this ask/idea from my lovely lovely Lily @munsonownsmyass I hope you like it, my love ❤️
This girl is single and haven't had anyone in a while. Miss the intimacy. Just to make herself happy, she buys flowers for herself every Friday. But one day, the flowers have already been paid for. It's the same thing the next Friday. Then one day, there's a little note attached to the flowers....
As always, thank you for reading!  I appreciate it so much and comments, reblogs are welcome and encouraged. Don’t be shy to tell me your favorite part. 💕💕 💕
“When was the last time you went out on a date?”
Rolling your eyes, those words felt like a hard punch to the stomach coming from your mother.
Your Friday afternoon lunch with her felt like days. It all started with the lunch spot you chose…it wasn’t to her standards but then again nothing was. Nothing seemed to ever be good enough whether it was your job, the clothes you wore, the apartment you lived in, or the sandwich shop you picked for lunch.
It was all beneath her, sub-standard, and you had accepted the fact that nothing you do will ever be good enough for her so you just decided to continue to do whatever made you happy and not worry about what would be pleasing to her.
She tried like hell to mold you into what she wanted you to be, how she wanted you to dress, what she wanted you to do for a living, and even what kind of wedding she had wanted you to have. She didn’t succeed and when you called off your wedding to a man that looked perfect on paper but was a monster behind closed doors, she didn’t try as hard to make you into something that you just weren’t going to be.
She still took not-so subtle jabs though.
“Have a good weekend, hun. Try and get some sleep, you look tired.”
A visit with mom wasn’t complete until she commented on how you looked. It was definitely time to go.
The early autumn wind picked up as you walked from the sandwich place toward the flower shop which was a few blocks away. Your little Friday tradition was just something you had decided to do for yourself every week.
The flowers made your apartment just a little bit brighter and brought a smile to your face every time you looked at them on your dining room table.
You hadn’t really noticed the flower shop before but it presented itself when you needed a little cheering up.
It was after another bad first date, the third one in a row. You were walking home from the bar after yet another Wall Street type asshole had spent the early evening hours droning on and on about himself when the essence of rose attacked your sense of smell. It stopped you dead in your tracks and caused you to shift your eyes from the sidewalk to the door of the flower shop in front of you.
Bouquets of beautiful flowers were in buckets of water outside but so many more caught your eye that were inside so you decided to go in and look around.
“We close in fifteen minutes, Miss. Is there something specific you’re looking for?” The man behind the counter had asked with a warm smile.
You tried to smile back but it only came out as half a smile. “Something to make me feel better after a bad date?” You replied.
His expression tempered and you could tell he really wanted to help.
“Let me see what I can put together for you.” He said.
And he went to work pulling flowers from different buckets and arranging them into the most beautiful bouquet, wrapping them in paper and plastic and securing them with a ribbon. The bouquet was full of carnations, roses, gerbera daisies, and lilies…all in different shades of red and pink. It was almost like he knew they were two of your favorite colors.
Watching him meticulously put those flowers together for you already made you feel better about that night.
“Here you go, my dear. Beautiful flowers for a beautiful lady.” He said handing you the flowers.
You were absolutely stunned at how gorgeous they were and that was how you met Mr. Campbell, the sweetest little old man with the prettiest flowers in town which kept you coming back weekly for fresh ones.
After the taxing lunch you just had with your mother, it was time to make yourself feel better with your weekly flowers.
“Hi, Mr. Campbell. How are you today!?” You asked.
He shifted his gaze from the bouquet he was working on to greet you, pushing his glasses up that had slid down the bridge of his nose.
“My dear, y/n! Well, I can’t complain…I woke up again so that’s a good thing, plus I knew I’d get to see your smiling face today and that’s ALWAYS a good thing.” He said with excitement.
A wide smile stretched across your lips. “This is my favorite Friday stop, Mr. Campbell!” You said.
The corner of his mouth turned up and he raised his eyebrows. “You sure it’s not the liquor store, y/n?” He asked with a slight chuckle while looking at the bottle of wine in your hand.
You let out a full blown belly laugh. “Ok, well that’s my OTHER favorite Friday stop. You know I like my wine.” You said trying to control your laughter.
“What are you in the mood for today, my dear?” Mr. Campbell asked.
You inhaled sharply and let out a deep exhale. “Well I just had a very long and taxing lunch with my mother so something a little crazy with a lot of colors would be perfect.”
And that’s all he needed to hear. In a matter of minutes he moved from bucket to bucket, picking out every color flower he could get his fragile little hands on and arranged them especially for you into one crazy colored bouquet.
“Awww Mr. Campbell, they’re perfect, as always! Thank you!” You said handing him the money for the flowers and the nip of Jack Daniel’s you bought for him every Friday. “There’s better tasting whiskey out there, you sure you don’t want somethin’ else?”
“No, no…this is what I like y/n.” He said, getting back to the arrangement he was working on when you walked in.
“Ok, well you just let me know if you want something else. I gotta get goin’, I have a hot date with the couch and this wine when I get home.” You said sarcastically.
“It’s Friday night, my dear. You should go OUT on a date!” He said.
You couldn’t help but roll your eyes. “Oh no, don’t you start with me too Mr. Campbell. My mother said the same thing to me a little while ago. I’ll see you next week.” You said as you waved goodbye and reached for the door.
An incredibly handsome man on the other side of the door opened it for you and ushered you through. He was tall, with dark hair, a short beard, eyes as dark as the night sky and a perfect smile.
You smiled back. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” He said.
You didn’t look back and headed for home.
The flower shop after you left.
“Good afternoon, Mr. Russo. The usual for you today?” Mr. Campbell asked.
Billy had his long overcoat tucked under his arm, watching with a smile as he watched you walk down the street until you were out of sight.
“Yes please, Luther. That would be great.” Billy said softly as he paced around looking at all the different flowers.
Mr. Campbell had caught Billy looking at you when you left the shop.
“She’s beautiful, isn’t she.” He stated, raising his eyebrows.
Billy thought he had acted nonchalant while checking you out. “What?” Billy asked. “Oh…yes…she is. Was that her first time in here?”
“She comes in every Friday and buys flowers for herself.” Mr. Campbell said.
A sly smirk stretched across Billy’s face. “Well we can’t have that now can we, Luther.”
Mr. Campbell returned the smirk, looked at Billy over his glasses and asked. “Shall I add another bouquet to your weekly purchase, Billy?”
“Yes please, whatever she wants but do NOT tell her I’m the one that paid for them.” Billy said sternly.
“She is going to ask, so what am I supposed to tell her?” Said Mr. Campbell.
Billy rested his hand on the counter and pondered for a minute.
As he picked up his flowers and started to walk toward the door, Billy turned back to Mr. Campbell and said “Just tell her you are sworn to secrecy and she’ll find out…soon, I promise.”
**********
The following Friday after a long day at work, you clocked out and started your walk to the flower shop. The warm afternoon sun grazed the high points of your face as you strolled down the sidewalk just enjoying the crisp fall air, and in no rush to get where you were going.
This was your favorite time of year. Vendors in the street sold warm apple cider and kettle corn, people with their flushed cheeks hurried past you with their hands shoved into their jacket pockets, while a short gust of wind nearly took your hat right off of your head.
Your first stop was the liquor store. Mr. Campbell really enjoyed the nip of Jack Daniel’s you gave him every Friday, he always told you it was the best part of his week and you loved it too. It felt nice to have something steady in your life even if was just a sweet elderly man and a bouquet of self-bought flowers.
The wind caught the door on your way into the flower shop and you had a hard time holding on to it but you managed to close it before it flew off the hinges.
“A little windy out there, y/n?” He joked, barely looking up from the arrangement he was putting together.
You pressed your lips together and replied. “Just a little. I nearly lost my hat, Mr. Campbell!”
“So what sort of bouquet will make you feel good today, my dear.” He asked.
Looking around the shop, the sunflowers caught your eye. “Something with a few sunflowers, I think.” You said.
And off he went picking out autumn colors of burnt orange, bright yellow, and deep red with the sunflowers being the focal point in the middle next to fern like greens. It was a beautiful work of art just like every other week which always put a smile on your face.
As you opened your purse, Mr. Campbell stopped you, waving his hand at you to put your wallet away. “No…no, they’re already paid for y/n.”
You had a confused yet skeptical look on your face. “What do you mean they’re already paid for?” You said.
“Exactly what I said y/n, someone has already paid for your flowers.” He said, with a devilish grin stretched across his face.
“Well, who paid for them?” You asked.
“I am sworn to secrecy, my dear.” He said raising his hand and closing his eyes.
Reaching into your tote bag, you pulled out the nip of Jack Daniel’s. “Ya know I’m not sure you deserve this today but that wouldn’t be very nice of me, would it.” You said, narrowing your eyes at him.
“I’m sworn to secrecy but you will find out soon who paid for them, he promised.” He stated with a slight smile as you waved and left the store.
Who could it be?
For the next few weeks, every time you’ve gone to pay for your flowers they had already been paid for. You even treated yourself to long stem red roses one week, orchids the next and Mr. Campbell STILL insisted he had already been paid. It didn’t matter how expensive the flowers were, you didn’t have to pay a dime.
Every week, you would BEG Mr. Campbell to tell you who was paying for your bouquets but he didn’t fold. He didn’t give up the name of the man buying you whatever your little heart desired that week but he really loved watching you smile.
Finally on week number four, you walked in to pick out your flowers and after putting together your bouquet, Mr. Campbell had a little something extra to add…it was a note that said:
Someone as sweet as you shouldn’t have to buy their own flowers. I hope you’ve been enjoying them. Now look outside…
You looked up from the card toward the door and flashing his perfect smile at you was the handsome man that had held the door open for you a handful of weeks ago. Warmth rushed to your cheeks and suddenly there were butterflies in your stomach as he walked through the door and planted himself firmly in front of you.
“Billy Russo…it’s nice to finally meet you…” He said, extending his hand for you to shake.
You extended your hand. “It’s nice to meet you too, Billy. I’m y/f/n y/l/n. So you’re the one that swore Mr. Campbell to secrecy?” You asked.
“Ah I knew Luther would be able to keep my secret, although he wanted me to tell you two weeks ago. He can be a little impatient.” Billy said with a warm smile and a slight whisper.
Looking over the tops of his glasses, Mr. Campbell said. “Well don’t talk about me like I’m not here. And do you have something for me, my dear y/n?”
You had completely forgotten about the nip of Jack Daniel’s in your bag that was meant for him so you reached in the bag and set it on the counter.
“Oh!! I am so sorry Mr. Campbell. Here ya go.” You said.
He took the little nip bottle and walked into the back room, behind the counter. He was gone for a few minutes.
“So what do ya say? Will you have a drink with me? I promise, it will be something better than Jack Daniel’s.” Billy said.
You chuckled a little when you heard Mr. Campbell shout from the back room. “I heard that, Billy!”
“I knew you would, sir!” Billy shouted back. “He has the best flowers in town plus he’s a veteran and I like supporting veteran owned businesses.” Billy said.
You couldn’t help but stare into his eyes. They looked like two endless pools of dark chocolate and they weren’t looking at anything except you.
Moving a stray hair away from your face, you replied. “I do too…I have friends and family that are veterans. Did you serve, Billy?”
“Three tours in Iraq…one in Afghanistan.” He said softly, inching closer to you.
Mr. Campbell surprised both of you when he appeared from the back. “Will you two get outta here! You can learn all about each other over a drink…GO! Get out!” He said, practically shooing you out of his shop and handing Billy his flowers.
“Alright, alright Mr. Campbell, we’re going…I’ll see you next week!” You said as you waved and walked out the door with Billy.
“Well? You wanna have that drink with me, y/n?” Billy asked again.
You bit down on your lower lip and glanced at the ground before capturing his gaze again. “I’d love to.” You said. “But I do have to drop these flowers off at home first so they don’t wilt. I live only a couple blocks from here. And it looks like you have flowers to drop off as well. Can I meet you in an hour? Is that enough time?”
Billy smiled. “That’s perfect…don’t you wanna know where I’m going to drop these off?” He asked nervously before opening the door to his car.
“As long as they’re not going to a wife or a girlfriend, it’s really none of my business Billy. But if you wanna tell me, you’re more than welcome to tell me later or another time. It’s up to you.” You said with a welcoming smile.
Billy looked surprised by your answer, he wasn’t expecting it and ultimately it was his decision of whether or not he wanted to tell you where he went every week at this time.
“Well ok then. So I’ll meet you back here in an hour?” He asked.
“I’ll see you in an hour…and Billy?
He looked up so his eyes were locked on yours.
A big smile stretched across your lips as you said “Thank you for my flowers.”
Billy smiled a wide Cheshire cat smile and winked at you. “You’re welcome, y/n and I will see you very soon.”

Pairing: Billy Russo x Fem!Reader
Content: Childhood Best Friends to Lovers, Reader has a cat, Billy hates cats, Billy is jealous of said cat
POV: Second

When you send the first care package to Billy when he was enlisted in Kandahar he didn’t expect it. It was the standard stuff you usually sent, toothpaste, snacks and of course samples of whatever project you were working on. This package however came with a stuffed animal, a black cat. Frank looked at it with a questioning brow. In the letter were photos of two cats, one ginger and one black.
Hey Billy,
The apartments lonely without you so I got some cats. The black cat is named Wilhelma, the feminine version of William. She’s a lot like you, hates everyone except for the ginger kitty. His name is Lucky. I know you hate cats but I miss you so fucking much Billy. It hurts being away from you. On the plus side I may or may not have passed the Bar!! I’m officially a lawyer!! Some of my friends from college have thought about starting a firm together. I think I might, fight for the little guy you know? Fight for kids like you and me. Anyways I added a plush because I know you get lonely, I actually made it myself. She has a little pouch of lavender in her chest to help you sleep. I know how you’ve told me it’s hard to sleep in the heat, I thought it might help. I can’t wait until your deployments over. Oh I’ve also added some photos of the kitty’s, they’ve been keeping me company. Some of the photo’s have Foggy and Matt in them so sorry about that.
Your Love, Y/N
Billy grimaced, you looked so happy while holding your new cats. It made him hurt that you had named one after him. Why couldn’t he be there holding you? You were his best friend and he gave up on you. He looked over at Frank who was snickering.
“You jealous of a cat brother?”

Mr. Russo (Billy Russo x Secretary!Reader)
Author’s Note: I’ve had this fic and other Billy Russo stories in my drafts for ages, and I figured while I was working on other Daredevil and Moon Knight fics, I’d throw in some of these older ones that I’ve never posted. I think the original intention was for this to be longer and a multi-part series, but I don’t like that idea anymore. I cut about a thousand words, and I might include those as a bonus separate part--I’m not sure yet. Enjoy! :)
Summary: Working for Billy Russo wasn’t a challenge like most people would expect. You know how to do your job and how to do it well. One late night of working allows something about your past come to the surface, changing the trajectory of the relationship you share with your boss.
Warnings: Fluff, Billy softening up, angst (mentions of crappy experience in New York and the foster care system/Billy Russo being brooding and sad/hurt and rage/delicious tension), implied smut, cursing, mentions of addiction (drugs/alcohol)
Other Characters: Frank Castle
Word Count: 5,495
Tumblr media
Another day in the books. Although everyday at Anvil is never the same, it can get a little monotonous. You answer the phone, respond to emails, draw up contacts, and do whatever Mr. Russo needs.
Oh, Mr. William Russo.
Intelligent, suave, cultured, and the definition of sex on two legs.
He works so hard in his business, and he cares about what he does. Anything that you can do to make his day less stressful, you’ll do it, and that definitely came in handy today, even if it still is a late night for him. You catch a glimpse at the clock on your screen—7:14pm. With a tired sigh, you hear him shuffle some papers around and push his chair out, moving a short distance to slide on his coat. You hear the click of his Italian leather shoes move closer to where you sit, and you smell his expensive cologne in the gentle breeze he brings by. You watch him as he walks with a purpose when he stops in his tracks, turning around to address you. “Do you ever even go home?” he asks.
“Sir?” you ask, unsure where he’s going with this.
“You’re always here before I get here—no matter how early—and you always stay after me. I just don’t get it.”
“I do my job,” you tell him. “It’s that simple. I do it, and I make sure that I do it well.”
“You also deserve a break—a life. Don’t you have friends around to go out for a drink or anything?”
“No, actually,” you admit. “Last friend I made in New York was one from when I got here. She then took 180 dollars from my wallet and ran away, making me scrape by for food for the rest of that week. My family isn’t nearby, either, if that was your next question. Work—this—is all I have, really.” Oh God, do you sound pathetic.
“Where is your family?” Mr. Russo asks, slowly moving back to your desk.
You scrunch up your bottom lip in a frown and shake your head. “I don’t know. I grew up in the system. I’m assuming whoever my parents are, they live in the Boston area, since that’s were I grew up.”
His expression softens to something to one that you have only seen twice before. It’s not quite pity, but it’s deeper than sadness. “You grew up in the system?” he asks softly.
You give a small nod. “It changes you pretty quickly.”
“It does.” His lips part like he wants to say something more, but he presses them in a tight line and sticks his hand in his jacket pocket, his eyes swirling with a mix of emotions.
“Is there anything I can do for you before you leave, Mr. Russo?”
He blinks a few times before he shakes his head. “N-No,” Billy breathes. “Have a nice night, (Y/N).”
“You too, sir.”
Tumblr media
There’s flowers on your desk when you walk in the next morning. How are there flowers on your desk?
“Hello?” you call into the office, sliding pepper spray out of your purse. “Anyone here?” Dead silence. Nothing looks out of place except for the bouquet, and after a quick sweep of the office, you see that you are alone. You look through the flowers and don’t see any card. Logging into your computer, you quickly pull up surveillance to see who delivered these. Your jaw drops when you see Mr. William Russo himself walk in at four in the morning with the same giant vase of flowers to your right. You lean back in your chair, your brain not really comprehending what you just saw. After a few minutes, you move towards the beautiful assortment of white gardenias, yellow lilies, red tulips, and magenta lilacs. You stick your nose to the flowers and take in a perfume of scents that make your chest happy and bring a smile to your face, and that smile remains on your face as you get to work and organize Billy’s day.
“Mornin’,” Billy says with a nod, walking a few hours later, not acknowledging the assortment on your desk.
“Morning,” you respond as he moves closer. “Thank you,” you say just before he enters his office. You don’t need to turn around to know exactly where he is—about a stride and a half from being in the doorway to his office, his right foot mid-step. “They’re beautiful.”
He doesn’t respond, but he takes a minute before he continues his gait into his office.
The rest of the day proceeds as it normally does: you respond to client emails, answer the phones, do other office work, and hand Billy files, briefing him before his meetings.
“Have a nice night, (Y/N),” he says, adjusting his scarf on his peacoat as he walks past your desk.
“You too, sir,” you say. “And remember you have a 7:30 meeting tomorrow morning at the Four Seasons with Thaddeus Ross to discuss security for the SHIELD weapons conference.”
“Thank you for the reminder,” he says, turning to look at you, flashing you the faintest of smiles. “I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
“Well, considering you built this company from the ground up, I think you’d manage.” His smile grows a hair bigger. “Safe travels, Mr. Russo.”
The next few weeks proceed as they usually do, but you are dumbfounded yet again when you walk in Monday, about a month after you found the flowers on your desk.
“Morning,” Billy says, placing a coffee cup on your desk as he walks by. “Sweet cream cold brew, right?”
You turn in your chair and look at him, confusion and surprise written all over your face.
“Yeah,” you say. You notice he has a hot cup for himself in his hands. “You hate Starbucks.”
“I needed some extra caffeine this morning,” he shrugs.
“So the ‘shit-water jet fuel’ is what you were craving this morning?”
He nods, taking a sip of the drink in his hand. “Exactly,” he answers after he swallows. You can tell he still hates the brew.
“Well, thank you for thinking of me,” you say. “If you find yourself needing some more caffeine, just let me know and I’ll make a pot.”
His face says I’ll be taking you up on that in five minutes, but his lips say, “Thanks, (Y/N).”
The next morning, there is a bouquet of blush colored peonies, white gardenias, and purple roses on your desk.
Tumblr media
“Vultures today, huh?” Billy says as he comes out of his office and to your desk, placing some outgoing mail in your organizer, adjusting some of the flowers in the assortment of roses, chrysanthemums, and asters. “That phone hasn’t stopped ringing all morning.”
“It’s the political season,” you hum as you shift your gaze upward. “All the big wigs want the best security money can buy. You’ve made it clear that you and your people are the ones for that job.”
“You know how to flatter a man,” he chuckles, shaking some nuts you’re snacking on in his hand before plopping them in his mouth.
“While you’re here,” you say, picking up a few slips of paper, handing them to him in an ordered fashion. “These are those calls back you were waiting for, these are inquiries from the three biggest politicians running for Senate, this is a message from Frank wanting to know if you’re on for dinner at Karen’s, and these are the Ulrich files you were waiting on.”
“Thank you, paperwork Santa,” he says, moving his gaze to quickly examine what is in front of him. “And here I thought it was gonna be a slow day.”
“Around here? Unlikely,” you grin.
He is about to say something more when he turns his head to the ringing of his direct line in his office. “Sorry,” he apologizes. “We’ll talk more later.”
You turn back to your computer in astonishment. We’ll talk more later? Is this the same Billy Russo that hired you? And does he mean casual talk or work talk? He would have made it clear, wouldn’t he?
Tumblr media
“Anvil, this is (Y/N),” you say as you continue typing a contract on your desktop.
“(Y/N), hi,” you hear Mr. Russo say on the other end of the line.
“Is everything alright, sir?” you ask, spinning around in your chair and watching your boss  give you a little wave through the industrial loft windows.
“We’ve been over this, you can call me Billy,” he reminds. “We’ve known each other long enough.”
“Sorry, it’s a force of habit.” You have to suppress a blush. “What’s going on?”
“I just got off of a call about that veteran’s fundraiser,” he says, and you shift to flip through the calendar.
“The one on Saturday night?”
“Exactly. They asked me to present an award and introduce a speaker that night. So in addition to networking and schmoozing, I’m gonna need to do some more things.”
“Let me know what you need to have ready, and it’ll be good to go by Friday night.”
“Actually, I was hoping you’d come with me Saturday. With my upgrade in duties, they gave me a plus one.”
What? “I appreciate the invitation, but I don’t know if I have anything black tie like that,” you say.
“Don’t worry about it, I’ll have it all taken care of. So can I take that as I yes?”
“Y-Yes,” you stutter. “And—.”
“Perfect, you’re the best,” he says, having up the phone with a click.
Did your boss just ask you out? Or is this really just a work engagement?
Tumblr media
When you come home from work on Friday, you see a black dress bag hanging off a garment rack with black bag hanging next to it. Locking up and putting down your things on the table by your door, you slowly move over to it.
“Told you I had it taken care of,” the note reads on the bag.
“What did you do, Russo?” you breathe, undoing the zipper. Inside, there is a stunning pine green gown. You look at the label and your mouth drops open: Oscar de la Renta. Taking it out of the bag, you see that it has a v-back, but has fabric coming off of each shoulder to give it a kind of cape effect. You feel like you’re moving in slow motion when you dare look over at the jewelry bag on the right next to it, seeing Harry Winston embossed in gold lettering. Carefully, you take it off of the hangar and peak inside, seeing three boxes neatly arranged. Placing it on your breakfast bar, you pull out the large necklace box, opening it to reveal both a sparkling diamond necklace and its matching earrings. Shocked, you pull the other two boxes out and find that they are the corresponding bracelet and ring. As you look down in disbelief, you catch a Louis Vuitton shoe box at the bottom of the rack.
You sit down on the barstool, lightheaded about the luxury that is around you. As if on cue, you see Billy’s contact light up on your phone.
“I’m assuming you’ve seen what you’ll be wearing tomorrow?” he says after you pick up.
“It’s way too much,” you say. “I appreciate it, but all this is more—it’s too much.”
“It fits the event,” he shrugs off. “It’s a ritzy event full of high-rolling investors, contributors, and other people within the top one per cent. Trust me, you’ll fit right in.”
“I just . . .”
“It’s a lot?” You swear he’s smiling like a devil on the other end.
“A hell of a lot.”
“If it makes you feel any better, the jewelry is on loan,” he says. “But the dress and shoes are yours to keep. Oh, and before I forget, you have an appointment to get your hair and nails done tomorrow with Donna at the Marigold Spa. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Before your brain can think to ask him more, he is off the line, leaving you stunned in your apartment.
Tumblr media
“Who is it?” you call from your apartment, responding to the rap at the door.
“Your chariot has arrived,” Billy says through the wood.
“I’m almost ready,” you say, nearly falling over as you try to put on the heels standing up. “Come in! It’s open.” You hear the door open and shut, and the click of expensive shoes against the vinyl floor.
“You know, for someone that works for a security company, leaving the door unlocked isn’t secure,” he teases.
“I knew you’d be over soon and I was still getting ready,” you say. “Just a courtesy.”
“To robbers.”
You chuckle as you successfully gain your footing in one of the shoes. “There’s water in the fridge if you’re thirsty,” you start as you slide on the other shoe, throwing a few last minute things in your clutch, and taking one final look at yourself in the mirror.
“I’m good," you hear him chuckle in a low timbre as you clack your way out of your room. “Thank you, though.”
“Alright, I’m all set to go,” you say as you enter the main living space.
Billy turns toward you and stands stock still. His eyes slowly look over your body from head to toe. It’s as if he’s drinking you in.
“Wow,” he finally says, his dark eyes twinkling in the lights of your kitchen.
“Well, the guy that picked it out has really good taste,” you say with a small grin and a blush rising up from your neck to your cheeks. “Thank you.”
He continues to look at you for a little while longer before he realizes that he’s staring.
“These are for you,” he says, holding out a bouquet of burgundy, cream, and lavender roses. “A little thank you for agreeing to come.”
“They’re beautiful,” you say, smelling them. You move to find a vase, getting the flowers settled before walking back towards Billy.
He puts out his arm for you to take.
“Shall we?”
Tumblr media
“I still can’t figure out how you manage to do it,” you say as you walk beside Billy after he schmoozes the last of the big-wigs in tuxedos.
“Do what?” Billy asks with a lift of his eyebrow.
“Work so well with these upper-crusty people. Some of them very clearly just a face at this fundraiser and don’t care the same way you do. I don’t know if I could do that.”
“Unfortunately, that’s just what the business is sometimes,” he sighs. “But then I remember that Anvil gives veterans an outlet when they get home—a legitimate career. Then it makes the schmoozing and pretending to care about their Hamptons houses easier.”
“That’s a great way to think about it,” you say softly.
“Sometimes that’s all you can do.”
Instead of walking to the direction of your table, Billy leads you to the edge of the dance floor.
“Care do dance?” Billy smiles.
“I can’t promise that I won’t step on your toes,” you say, feeling a blush prick at your cheeks and your ears.
“Don’t worry about it. I’ll have the band play something slow.”
You wouldn’t be surprised if his Marine-trained ears could hear how hard your heart is beating.
“How can I say no to that, then?” you say with a small smile, your mouth suddenly very dry.
Billy takes your hand and leads you in. As if the band knows, the song shifts to something slow. Billy holds one of your hands in his while the other rests on the small of your back, his palm spread wide, securely holding you as you both move across the floor.
“And here I was thinking you had two left feet,” he grins.
“Well, I guess it helps that it’s not a formal ballroom dance,” you blush. Seriously, he has to know how fast your heart is racing right now.
“Is this what you thought you’d be doing with your life?” Billy asks as you slowly move in a circle. “Being a secretary, dealing with executives and government officials, and going to charity fundraisers?”
“Isn’t it every little girls dream?” you smirk, quirking an eyebrow.
He chuckles, twirling you to the music before he pulls you back into frame.
“No, really,” Billy whispers. “What did you want to be when you were younger?”
You think about it, but only briefly. “An author, I think. With all the time I spent in the system, I always tried to figure out how I could get out or what it would be like when I did. I’d just write about it. It moved from that to creating these different worlds and different people that were everything that I wasn’t and everything that I couldn’t be. Those are what made me happy. Scholarships from those stories is what got me through college to get my undergrad.”
There’s something soft in his eyes, tender even, as he listens to you talk about your childhood dream. It’s soul-churning and completely devastating in every sense of the word.
“What about you?” you return. “I’m assuming that the military wasn’t six-year-old Billy’s dream.”
“No, it wasn’t,” he admits. “I wanted to be a baseball player. But there were things that happened when I was a kid . . .” He clears his throat. You’ve touched a nerve.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to—.”
“No, it’s okay. Saying that my childhood was shitty is an understatement, but it made me who I am and brought me here. In a way, I think the Marines was the only thing that made sense for me.” He gives you a gentle smile, pushing away the dark cloud that emerged on his face. “And just think: without it, we wouldn’t have met. And I don’t know about you, but our time together makes me happier.”
Your heart stops and leaps into your throat. He has to just mean as a coworker—maybe just even someone who isn’t an ex-Marine that he gets to see to break up his environment. You can’t let your mind go to these conclusions. It’d just be a disappointment, and he’s my boss. Still, you find yourself unable to look away from his hypnotic gaze, the tenderness in his expression making you melt. The song stops and he drops the frame, and you let your eyes flutter a few times so you can adjust your head out of the haze he has placed you in. Billy keeps his hand in yours as you stand, pointing his head towards your table.
“C’mon,” he says. “I heard the steak was supposed to be amazing.”

“Did you have fun tonight?” Billy asks as you hand him a bottle of water, his elbow cooly leaning against the island.
“Surprisingly, yes,” you admit, taking off the heavy jewels. “I don’t know, I hear fancy fundraiser, and I don’t think ‘party.’”
“That’s cuz you’ve never been to a Billy Russo fundraiser,” he smirks.
“I guess those are the only ones worth going to, then.”
“You know, I’m really glad you came tonight.”
“You are?”
“You sound surprised.”
“Oh,” you blush, but a nagging question starts to echo in the back of your brain. “I-I didn’t mean to. Just tired.”
“Well, if that’s the case, I’ll let you be for the night,” he says with a soft smile, giving you hand a gentle squeeze on the island before he moves away. “See you Monday, sweetheart.”
Sweetheart.
Okay, that’s it.
“Are you only being nice to me because you found out I grew up in foster care?” you blurt as he walks towards the door. There’s no turning back now. “Before, you’d never say more than you needed to to me, and now for five months, you’ve gotten me flowers, you ask about my day, you know my coffee order, and you left me an insanely gorgeous gown and jewelry to wear to a fundraiser that I wasn’t supposed to go to in the first place.” You pause for a moment, processing that you’re probably running a bond that you’ve wanted for a long time, not to mention your job, probably. “What’s changed?”
“You know I grew up in the system?” he asks, his head turned to the side while his back is still to you.
“I do,” you answer. You had done some deep digging when you were applying for the job, trying to find out as much about the company and its founder as possible.
“Then you should realize that I sympathize with you. Pouring your life into something to move yourself as far away from your past as possible.”
“What I’m really hearing is that all of this from the last few months has just been pity,” you say bitterly, and you try to push away the feeling of tears stinging at your waterline. “And if that’s what this job has turned into, then I don’t need it. I know my worth, and it’s more than that—than whatever this is.”
Your statement causes him to spin around so fast you think he’s gonna get whiplash. He strides over to you so quickly you almost can’t process it. He drops his keys to the ground before kissing you hard, one hand on your waist as the other holds onto the back of your head. He almost knocks you off your feet, but his hands on your body assure that it can’t be a possibility. Your hands rest on his shoulder as your lips move against him, kissing him back just as urgently. His beard tickles a little, but you’re not moving in a way that makes it scratch. When Billy finally pulls away, you’re both left panting for air.
“It’s not pity,” he clarifies. “It’s admiration. I had always thought you were some brown-noser with daddy issues, but you always had this integrity and determination. And then . . .” he trails, his eyes intent and glassy. “I know that drive you have, and that fear of being a disappointment. Hell, that’s how I got here. I wanted to show you that we’re not that shit that happened to us. I wanted to show you that I care.”
“It’s a hell of a way to show it,” you say quietly, looking at his big brown eyes. “I, um . . .” you swallow hard and let emotion contort your face, reeling your feelings in before you continue. “Every time someone finds out, they treat me differently. I really didn’t want you to be one of those people. You might not have thought so, but the way you treated me before made me feel like I finally had a place, y’know? I had a purpose to do something. That I was needed and wanted.”
“I know,” he nods.
“I guess I’m just confused why now.”
“You’ve been my secretary for four years. You know things about me that I don’t even know all the time. You know things about me that you don’t need to know, but you care enough to. I’ve always wanted to know those things about you, but . . . I’m not great at communication with people that—.” He stops to clear his throat, furrowing his brows together. “The only good relationships I have are with Frank and Curtis, and that’s because we’ve been through hell and back with and for one another. I didn’t know where to start with you, because you just come in and you’re like this . . . force to be reckoned with. I guess that finding out we had something in common made me think I could know you better.”
Billy tucks some stray hair behind your ear as he looks at you. “I don’t want to go back to what this was before,” he says softly. “I like this. Having a friend. Connecting with someone. And . . . I like to think this has the potential to be more than that. Than friends.”
“Well, I guess I need to know if you kiss all your friends like that.”
A small smile spreads across Billy’s face. “Just the ones that use lemon shampoo and look good in designer dresses.”
“I’m not fired, am I?” you whisper. “Because I think a kiss like that is some kind of HR violation.”
“Not if you don’t want to be,” he responds. “I will say, though, the job market is tough right now.”
“Is this something we can do?”
“I’m willing to make it work if you are.”
You nod your head. “Let’s try it.”
Billy leans back in for a kiss, this one more gentle that the last, but just as deep. Your arms wrap around him and settle on his back, and you feel him lift you up slightly as he pulls you into him.
“We’re gonna do this slowly,” he breathes, brushing his nose against yours, his chocolate eyes staring into your soul.
“Okay,” you quietly agree. “Slow.”
Tumblr media
“We have different definitions of slow,” you hum as Billy presses a kiss to the back of your naked shoulder.
“Trust me, I wanted to, but I have a thing for brunettes in designer dresses,” he says, dragging his hands down the bare curves of your body in post-sex bliss. “And it looks just as good on the floor as it did on you tonight.”
You laugh as you roll onto your back, your head resting on his shoulder.
“Hi,” he says with a dreamy look on his face.
“Hi,” you say, returning his gaze. He leans down and presses a soft, tender kiss to your lips before resting his cheek on the crown of your head. You lay like this in blissful silence as his fingers play with yours, the pale moonlight trickling into your bedroom through the curtains. You think he has fallen asleep—and you almost have—when he shifts a little on the mattress.
“Did you ever think of finding them?” he asks quietly. You know exactly who “them” is.
“I did find them,” you say. “I found out all about them, too. A little after I told you about growing up in the system, actually—curiosity got the best of me.” You think about what you know, and the silence weighs heavy in the bedroom. “My father was an alcoholic, and my mother used all kinds of drugs. They had a short and nasty relationship and split before I was born. My dad worked on the docks, showed up one day drunk, hit is head, and drowned. Based on his obituary, I was six when he died. My mom sobered up around that time, got married, and lives in Cape Cod.” You feel hot, angry tears sting at your waterline. “Two kids, and a freakin golden retriever.”
“And I’m guessing you don’t want to reach out?” he asks carefully.
You scoff. “No. Didn’t want me then, won’t want me now. I’m a part of that past that she worked to forget. I don’t want to go near her with a ten-foot pole. Besides, if she wanted to know me, she’d find me. She’d find a way. And she hasn’t. That says all I need to know.”
Billy wraps his arm around you and pulls you close, pressing a long kiss to your forehead.
“She’s missing out on the best person that I know,” he whispers.
Too emotional to respond, you snuggle into him and nuzzle your head into the crook of his neck.
“Have you?” you whisper. “Found yours?”
“I found my mom,” he swallows. “She chose meth over me—she safe-havened me. From then on it was group homes.” He’s quiet for a moment. “I think I’ve made my peace with it all. Can’t change it. But it made me who I am, and I’m okay with who I am.”
You don’t ask any more onto the subject. Instead, you snuggle in closer to him.
“For what it’s worth,” you breathe. “I really like who you are, too.”
Billy turns so you’re huddled together chest-to-chest, his arms holding onto you tightly, kissing your forehead before tucking your head under his chin. You fall asleep to the sound of his beating heart.
Tumblr media
You practically jump out of your skin when you feel a pair of arms loosely wrap around your middle.
“Jesus, Billy,” you sigh. “You really don’t make a sound if you’re not wearing Italian leather shoes.”
His laugh comes out as a hum as he places a kiss on the back of your neck, right on a bundle of nerves he found out about last night.
“I woke up and you weren’t there,” he murmurs into your skin. “What are you doing?”
“What does it look like?” you grin as you turn the waffle maker.
He kisses your neck again before resting his chin on your shoulder. “I thought the guy was supposed to make breakfast.”
“Not in my house,” you say, running your fingers through his hair as you move to flip some bacon. “My place, my job to make you some food.”
“Fine,” he sighs, moving from you, but not before placing a light smack on your rear. “But I make the coffee.”
“You want any eggs?” you ask.
“Nah,” he says, pouring coffee grounds into the filter. “This all is more than enough. I don’t usually get to enjoy this part.”
“Well, if we’re gonna make a habit of this, it’s something you better get used to.”
You finish making breakfast in harmony, exchanging sections of the newspaper as you eat.
“Wow,” Billy chews, taking a sip of his coffee. “You’re destroying the crossword.”
“It’s a talent,” you smirk as you pause before filling in the rest of your answer. “Now, is it ‘ei’ or ‘ie’ in Steinbeck? I can never remember.”
“I guess you got cocky too soon,” he smiles.
“Yes, and I’m big enough to admit it. Which is it?”
“I’ll tell you, but it’ll cost ya.”
“Oh?” you say as his hand slides into mine, silently inviting you to get up and sit in his lap. You do, and his free hand squeezes your thigh.
“It’s gonna cost you a kiss,” he hums.
“Mm, you run a hard bargain, but I think I can afford that,” you smile, biting your lip as you press your mouth into his. It’s tender, and even with coffee in your systems, there’s something sexily sleepy about the embrace.
“It’s ‘ei’,” he breathes, his lips brushing against yours before placing another kiss on you lips.
“Thank you,” you say, filling in the squares and placing a soft kiss on the freckle just below his eye. His hand then gently holds your cheek, bringing your lips down to his. The kisses grow more needy, and just after he adjusts you so your legs straddle his lap, his phone starts to ring. Reluctantly, he pulls away and looks at his phone.
“Shit,” he hisses before he answers. “Hey, Frankie.”
“Brother, where are you?” you hear Frank ask through the phone.
“Yeah, no, I’m on my way,” he sighs. “I just got a little held up this morning.”
“Mm, yeah,” you hear him chuckle. “Where’d you find this one?”
Billy looks at you with warm, sparkling eyes. “I think she found me.”
“And the Grinch’s heart grew three sizes that day.”
“Yeah, shut up,” he chuckles. “I’ll be there soon.”
Billy hangs up to avoid any more snark over the line from his friend, but not before kissing you once more.
“I didn’t realize it was this late,” he sighs. “I’m sorry. I gotta go.”
“I know: ten o’clock runs with Frank, every Sunday. And if you go by the office, you have some extra workout clothes there so you don’t have to run in a tuxedo.”
“Nothin’ gets by you.”
“Nope,” you smile, popping the ‘p’.
You get up from his lap and begin to clean up the table while Billy moves back to your room to get his clothes.
“I will trade you one dress shirt for one very soft and fluffy robe,” he offers when he comes back into the kitchen, your Hello Kitty robe hanging from his finger.
“I guess I accept,” you sigh dramatically. You slide Billy’s shirt off of your body and hand it to him as he slides the robe onto your shoulders.
“I’ll see you tomorrow?” he asks, adjusting the collar on your robe.
“Tomorrow,” you nod. “Have fun with Frank.”
“Somethin’ tells me I’d be havin’ more fun here.”
He leans down to kiss you, repeatedly procrastinating his delay with each punctuation of his lips.
“Okay,” he kisses. “I’ll see you—.” Kiss. “—tomorrow morning—.” Kiss. “—bright—.” Kiss. “—and—.” Kiss. “—early.”
You giggle as he takes you in for more kisses. You pull away from his reach, only to be swept back in for one final kiss.
“I really gotta go, now,” he sighs, tucking hair behind your ear.
“I know. I’ll see you soon.”

Hiii, could you please do Billy Russo “Stay there. I’m on my way.”? Fluff please. Thanks :)
Easter Askbox Event- Billy Russo x Reader Fluff
Tumblr media
CW: Reader is 2nd person “you”, pronouns and gender for reader not mentioned but they menstruate and are wearing a skirt. Some mentions of canon typical violence.
A/N: Finally I managed to write something shorter for once! I think just shy of 500 words is the closest I’m going to get to a Drabble lol. Enjoy!
Billy was halfway home, when your custom ringtone started blaring through the car’s speakers. He glanced down at the touchscreen control pannel, his brows knit together with confusion and concern. Usually, if you needed to get ahold of him you’d just text or leave a message at Anvil’s front desk. A surprise phone call really could only mean one thing. You were in trouble.
Immediately, Billy’s mind jumped where it always did each time he thought of “you” and “trouble” in the same sentence.
Frank.
Somehow, Frank Castle had come back from the goddamn dead and was going to finally make him pay for all the shit he’d caused. The problem was, everyone knew Billy didn’t give a shit if he lived or died. He’d accepted long ago that if he didn’t put a bullet in his own skull, someone would happily do it for him and he’d made his peace with that.
You, however, were another matter entirely. The only thing you’d ever done “wrong” was fall for an evil, murdering bastard like him, and that wasn’t worth dying over, no matter what anyone else thought.
Gripping the steering wheel reflexively, Billy took a deep breath, and then tapped the button that would connect the call. There was an eerie, crackling silence on the other end that did nothing to melt the icy rock that had settled in his gut.
“Billy?”
There was a slight tremble to your voice, and it sounded thick, like you had been crying. It almost broke Billy’s heart, but at the same time he couldn’t help but feel a little relieved. Yes, you were upset, but it sounded like regular, run of the mill upset instead of “help I’m being held hostage by the ghosts of your past and they’re going to kill me” upset.
“Hey baby. You okay?”
“I’m-“ you made a choked noise, somewhere between a hiccup and a muffled sob “God, this is so stupid. I’m so sorry.”
“No, princess, you don’t need to be sorry. Whatever’s wrong, I’ll fix it okay? I just need you to tell me what happened.”
He could hear you taking a shaky breath, like you were trying to calm yourself before speaking. God, he hoped nobody had been stupid enough to try and hurt you. If anyone had, they’d be finding out what trying to talk with a slit throat was like before the day was over.
“It’s…my period.”
Billy bit back a sigh of relief.
“Yeah? Are your cramps bad or something?”
“No, I…well it came early, right? And I don’t have any tampons or anything and I bled through my skirt. I’m still at work, I’ve been hiding in the bathroom for the last fifteen minutes and…shit. I told you it was stupid”
It was all Billy could do not to laugh. It’s not that he found your predicament all that funny, but he was just so thankful this was something much simpler than his imagination had concocted he couldn’t help himself. He settled for a smile instead, hoping he sounded reassuring instead of mocking.
“Aw, babydoll. Do you want me to come get you?”
“Please? I need you”
Billy shifted the car into third gear, preparing to make a hairpin turn as the engine purred louder. If he went quickly, he could get home, get you a change of clothes and get to your office in under twenty minutes.
“Stay there. I’m on my way”

Things will get better with time
Hey! This is my first ever fic so hopefully it makes some sense haha. Written for a lovely soul I met here on Tumblr a few days ago, asking someone to write them a comfort fic so here i am, trying to save the day. Hope you will like it! Tell me what you think!
Ps. this is not proofread, it is 11pm here and my brain is dying:)
---
Pairing: Billy Russo x fem!reader (not canon, this Billy is actually sweet and caring!)
warnings: a bit of swearing, feelings of being unworthy (can't think of anything else tbh)
Summary: You are on a girl's trip in Greece with your best friend but things aren't really going the way you anticipated. After a fight with her, you leave the hotel and find yourself sitting on a lonely bench when a weird stranger asks if you're okay.
A lot of angst to comfort.
Word count: 2937
Tumblr media
Greece. Greece.
You muttered to yourself as your eyes scanned over the department board once more, simply to confirm that this was really happening. Your first ever trip abroad. You were beyond excited as you continued to find your friend in the maze of people and luggage. All the thoughts of warm nights, hours spent by the beach and days of simply existing and relaxing were filling your mind. As you finally spotted Stephanie your excitement grew even more. A girl’s trip, something you have anticipated for quite some time now. She was, as usual, completely wrapped up in her boyfriend’s arms. Not that you didn’t want her to be happy, not that you were jealous, it was just… sometimes you wanted to spend time with just her, without Luke always there. But now you have finally managed to escape his prying eyes, his ever-present arms around your best friend and his snarky comments of always stealing his girl away from him. And to be honest, you were pretty happy about finally getting rid of him.
“I’ll miss you baby,” Stephanie said for the hundredth time in the last ten minutes. The boarding would start any minute now and yet here you were, still in the departure hall, trying to get Steph to bid goodbye and finally enjoy herself on this trip. Luke hugged her once more while saying “Call me every day, okay baby girl?” and your friend profoundly nodded, as if to confirm something far greater than just to call her boyfriend every once in a while.
The flight, to your surprise, was quite smooth. That went without counting Stephanie’s constant cries of how she wishes Luke would have come with you. Don’t be so harsh, you told yourself, it is the first time they are really away from each other. You tried to seek some understanding within you and for the first hour you actually did find it. But when the conversation would not steer in a different direction even after two hours, you simply excused yourself from the one-sided debate, popped in your earphones and tried to fall asleep. You thought of all the beaches again, of the sea, and of course, of all the handsome men you will probably meet in Greece.
It was not as if Steph was a bad friend. She was wonderful at times. Attentive, caring, supportive. But that was all before she met Luke. After they started dating, you have been cast aside, thrown away like a used doll that didn’t fit the child’s expectations anymore. And you understood, for who you were to stand between two people in love? So you salvaged all the little time you could get with your friend, enduring all the conversations about her love life, feeling happy for her. You just hoped things would get better with time. But they never really did.
When you finally touched down in Greece, you were welcomed with gentle warm breeze on your cheeks and the sun stroking your hair gently in the late afternoon. The ride to your hotel was silent, a fact you were much thankful for after the exhausting flight. You guessed Steph was tired too but as you looked behind your shoulder to the backseat, you found her with her phone glued to her hands, her eyes fixed on the screen. “Everything good Steph?” you asked, concerned something was the matter as she was frowning quite hard. She looked up momentarily and forged a small smile on her lips as a form of wordless apology. She said, surprising you “Yeah, it’s just Luke. He was asking about the flight; you know how he is with planes” and chuckling a bit to herself as her eyes returned to the screen. You simply nodded, knowing she is not paying attention to you anyways. Luke, always Luke… even here in Greece, with all the beautiful scenery around, it’s always Luke. Yet you could not really bring yourself to feel anger, or at least not enough of it. It will get better, you thought to yourself as the car came to a halt in front of your hotel.
The first two days were weird, to say the least. Your room was spacious, beautifully furnished and with a dazzling view of the town you were staying in and of the seemingly endless glimmering sea. The food was great, the people were kind and the weather even kinder to you. You have heard quite a lot of people say that Greece is insufferable at this time of the year for its hot temperatures, but you guessed you were lucky as there was always gentle breeze cooling you down. Everything was great. Except that it was not. Stephanie, despite promising you she would reserve her daily calls with Luke for the less busy afternoons, was on her phone most of the time.
“Oh, I’m sorry, Luke’s calling me, I gotta go”.
“Can this wait? Luke and I are going to facetime now”.
“Luke’s texting me, hold that thought!”
On and on, these sentences and their versions filled your days like a plague. You were getting tired of always being put second, never really being the first option Steph would choose. Because even though she was there with you, she still decided to prioritize her boyfriend. Now don’t get it wrong, you were happy for her, you truly were. But you also thought that maybe this was not entirely fair towards you. After all this was supposed to be a getaway from your work, you busy life, from all the other people. It was supposed to be just the two of you, like the old times. And you still thought that maybe things will get better.
The late afternoon has finally begun to bleed into an endless night when you suggested going for a walk through the little town. “I suppose we could do that; it could be fun!” Stephanie exclaimed, finally agreed to doing something other than just lying in her bed facetiming Luke. You were beyond happy for finally snatching some of her attention for yourself. The two of you agreed on dressing up a bit so that you could take some lovely photos by the white houses typical for this area. You put on a beautiful flowy dress that hugged your curves perfectly and reached just above your bare knees, with flowing sleeves of blue see-through fabric. The neckline was a little lower than what you would usually go for, yet it still didn’t reveal much, only a hint, only a tease. Your hair was twisted into a simple up-do and you also put on some lighter make up, just to compliment the look. As you stood in front of the mirror, you felt so beautiful. Yet something was still missing. Oh, the earrings! You thought as you remembered you bought a pair of intricate gold earrings on the farmer’s market the other day. An old lady sold them to you, telling you they were literally made for you. And boy, was she right. You looked gorgeous.
“Steph, I’m ready!” you called out from the bathroom.
But your friend didn’t return the excitement which now began to slowly replace itself with disappointment. “You’re gonna hate me…” She didn’t even need to go on, you already knew where this was going. “Luke? Again? Seriously? You guys just spent the last four hours talking on the phone!” and this long-held disappointment and neglect has finally merged into a well-deserved anger. “But he says it’s important! Come on, you can’t be mad at me. I miss him so much…” Stephanie countered your angry statement with a response filled with sadness. “I wouldn’t be mad if it was just a one-time thing but Steph, you’ve been on your phone the whole time we’ve been here. I feel like I don’t even exist to you!” now you were beginning to fight, your emotions getting the better of you. “That’s now true!” your friend yelled back at you. “You know goddamn well that it is.” You said, voice barely above whisper, as if you were afraid that if you spoke loudly it would break. As if you stood your ground, then you would break. And Stephanie just stood there, looking at you, not really knowing what to say. Maybe she knew you were right, maybe she did really feel bad. But it didn’t matter anymore. You were hurt, you were lonely and you just wanted to hide somewhere and cry your heart out. So, picking up your purse and walking towards the door, you turned to her one last time and quietly left. There was nothing else to say.
You could not exactly recall when the tears started to stream down your face, ruining your pretty make up. And you also could not recall when you’ve abolished trying to walk in these uncomfortable shoes, or how exactly you got to the lonely bench you were now sitting on. The moon was high up in the sky now, the stars singing their lullaby to anyone willing to listen. The sea was quiet and dark, a companion for worse times. And the omnipresent wind sometimes ever-so-slightly ruffled through the leaves of the trees enveloping you like a safe haven. It was peaceful, to say the least. And it indeed was a nice contrast to the war of emotions taking place in your heart. A part of you felt bad for leaving Steph like that, a part of you felt like maybe you should have yelled at her more. And as you were crying silently in the embrace of the night, you didn’t even notice the presence of someone else behind you.
“Are you alright?
You jumped at the sound of a deep velvet voice that cut through the silence like a knife. Oh shit, oh shit. Suddenly the state of your situation started to dawn on you. You were completely alone, on the outskirts of the city, in a dress and now with a strange man. I’m fucked. You decided to play it safe.
“Yeah.” You tried to sound strong but your voice was laced with sadness and salty tears.
“Are you sure? I thought I heard you cryin’ so I decided to check on you.” The stranger spoke up, his voice firm, yet somehow gentle and warm. Maybe he was not a bad guy after all. And you so desperately needed a shoulder to cry on, you didn’t really care whose the shoulder would be.
When you didn’t reply, too caught up in thinking about the pros and cons, the man quietly moved next to the bench. But he didn’t sit down just yet. He was approaching you as if you were a scared animal, trying to get you to trust him. His scent filled the air around you; a sweet cologne, a bit of fire and something you could not quite name. It was pleasant, you had to admit.
“Mind if I sit?” he asked, jerking you out of your overthinking. You silently nodded to let him know he could sit down next to you, hoping he wasn’t some kind of a creep. He sat down next to you, not close enough to let your shoulders touch, but not far enough that you could not sense the warmth radiating off his body.
“So…” he said, suddenly unsure of himself. But you could not bare the weight of all the emotions anymore and words started to spill out without you having any control over them.
“I hate it, I hate her. I hate that I feel like this. I feel so fucking lonely, on my own goddamn holiday! I thought we would have a good time, that I would relax and enjoy myself and instead I am here, sitting on a bench god knows where with a stranger listening to me because my best friend is too selfish to do that instead.” At the end you were almost screaming into the night, your body trembling, your eyes stained with tears, your heart breaking at the realisation of what was really happening. It was pathetic really. Telling a stranger things like that, how does that even happen? But you felt like you could trust him. There was just something about him that made you feel safe. And he was listening intently, not saying anything. He was just there. And that was all you needed in that moment. When he noticed how shaken up you were, he placed his hand affirmingly on shoulder to encourage you to continue. When you calmed down a bit, you resumed your rant.
“My friend and I, we agreed to go here on vacation. As a way to relax, you know. I thought it would be great. It is actually my first ever trip abroad. But she wouldn’t get off the phone. She is always talking to her boyfriend. Always. Texting, calling, facetiming, you name it. It’s as if I’m not even there! And it hurts so much, it feels so lonely. And I tried talking to her about it but we just got into a fight and now I am here, crying instead of enjoying this trip.”
His fingers were drawing gentle circles on your bare shoulder and you found it soothing.
“I’m so sorry. That’s pretty shitty.”
“Yeah, it is shitty.” It almost made you laugh. Because it was shitty.
“Look, your friend is a really bad friend. Abandoning you like this, that’s not somethin’ good friends do. You deserve so much better than this. I usually tell people that they should talk things out but if you’ve tried that and it turned into an argument, maybe it would be better if you gave this friendship some time and space. So that both of you can assess your priorities. And to also realize what is important to you.” He said, his voice calm and even, comforting your worried heart. “It doesn’t take the pain away now, I know. But it will help you a lot in the future.”
“I hate that you’re right.” you agreed and much to your surprise, smiled. “It’s just a lot of built-up anger I suppose. And disappointment too. It has been going on like this for quite some time but I never really noticed it until now.”
He took a breath as if to think a bit on what to say next, as if you weren’t going to like what he got to say about it. “I understand. Sometimes we just want to see the good in people no matter how much they’ve hurt us. And we are too blind to see that they are causin’ too much pain and not enough happiness. Sometimes it’s just better to let people go. You can be happy on your own, happier even. You know, go and see a movie alone, go to a museum or to the beach, just enjoy your own company.”
“But doesn’t that get lonely?” you asked, still looking out at the sea. It calmed you down, the repetitiveness of the waves, the sound of water and also the warmth of his hand still on your shoulder.
“Sometimes. But I have found out it is better to be lonely than to be with the wrong people.”
It were those words that made you finally turn around and look at him. And you were met with a sight worth more than words could ever describe. A man so handsome you thought he was conjured by your own imagination. But then, your imagination could not possibly produce something so perfect. His eyes, dark as the sea draped in darkness, looking warmly at you. His lips curled into the faintest reassuring smile. You could tell his hair was once neatly styled with gel, now ruffled and messy, yet still looking soft. And to top it all off, his perfectly trimmed beard.
He smiled at you, a wide and beautiful smile. “Hey there.”
You weren’t looking at him, no, you were quite intently staring. “I’m Billy.” He extended his hand towards you, waiting.
“Y/N” you said at last, smiling too. You shook his hand and suddenly felt the urge to apologise. “I’m so sorry, I probably shouldn’t have done tha-“ “Don’t apologize sweetheart. I couldn’t bear to see you cry.”
A quiet “Thank you” found its way onto your lips. And his smile grew even wider. “Please, don’t thank me. Letting you talk it out was the least I could do.”
And even though his voice was reassuring, and his eyes told you he spoke earnestly, you still couldn’t shake the feeling you should feel bad. Maybe because you were still shaken up from Stephanie not listening to you or maybe because you found yourself on a bench in Greece with this handsome man, spilling your heart out. And suddenly, tears rolled down your cheeks again and your heart felt too heavy to carry once more.
“Oh no, baby, come here.” Billy said as he wiped some of your tears with his thumbs. “Shhh, it’s all okay sweetheart, it’s okay” he whispered into your hair as he pulled you closer. His strong arms hid you away from the world, pressed against his chest, and you wished for nothing more than to simply stay in this little shelter that he suddenly became. “I’m here Y/N, I’m here. All is well, it’s okay” he repeated, rocking you back and forth, as you cried into his shirt. And as you stayed there, on that bench, talking the night away in Billy’s arms, you let yourself believe that, for the first time in a while, things will get better with time.

Word Count: 3.7k
Tumblr media
Summary: When you and Billy break up, Karen takes it upon herself to get you back together. Her plan comes to a head one night at Josie’s, and you and Billy must face the consequences of loving and leaving one another.
(Warnings: so much angst, cursing, Billy is a soft!boy at heart, soft!Billy, descriptions of smut (but like romantic descriptions, not graphic ones??), I think that’s it, it’s literally just really sad until the end lol)
“You look great.” Your date smiled, but he wasn’t looking at your face. Instead, for the third time in less than a minute, his eyes trailed the sloping curve of your cleavage as it disappeared into your dress. You shrugged his gaze off, hoping there was at least something interesting about him to keep you entertained for the evening. Something could be there. Deep, deep, down, but there, nonetheless.
“So, Brad, what do you do for work? When Karen set this up, she didn’t tell me much about you.”
“I’m an accountant.”
Brad nodded his head along with yours, an awkward bob as you waited for him to return the question. He didn’t, instead choosing to fix his gaze on the jazz singer across the restaurant. Zero for two, Brad.
“Do you, uh, have any hobbies?” You tried again to break the conversation dam, but Brad’s attention was so far away from the table you were sharing that he barely glanced at you when he responded.
“I jog sometimes.”
“Oh!” You lurched forward, desperate to grab onto anything that might make this date less awkward. “I like to jog, too. I’ll listen to books when I do it to pass the time. Do you read at all?”
Brad’s eyes flicked to yours, then back to the jazz singer. Uninterested, bored, and inconvenienced. That’s what his glance told you.
“People who need books or music when they run aren’t capable of self-reflection. It’s how you grow as a human being, you know? You should try it.”
You blinked. Who the fuck does this guy think he is? A pompous, arrogant, prick seemed like the winning description, and you chuckled as you looped your purse handle over your shoulder.
“Well, Brad.” You stood from your seat, drawing his attention away from the band. “Congratulations. You win. I think this is quite possibly the worst date I’ve ever been on, and that’s saying a lot.”
You didn’t deem him with an explanation as you exited the restaurant, but a vivid memory flashed in your mind of Billy standing you up on your anniversary last year. Yeah, that date was terrible, but at least Billy hadn’t insulted you after standing you up. He’d spent weeks apologizing with flowers, jewelry, and even cutting down on his time at Anvil so he could spend more time with you, but that date would always stick out in your mind as the beginning of the end.
You shook the thoughts from your head, digging through your purse to find your cellphone. Karen was going to explain where the fuck she met this guy, and why she thought setting him up with you would be a good idea. She picked up on the second ring.
“Karen.” You tapped your foot on the sidewalk. “What the fuck?”
“Hey! How was the date?”
Wherever Karen was, it was loud. You could barely understand her through the speaker, muffled by music and what sounded like a crowd of people in the background.
“The date was so bad.” You almost whined. Almost stomped your foot at how unfair the dating world had become. Almost thought about how much easier it was when you were with Billy. “Where did you even meet this guy?”
“At work. Was he an asshole?” She sounded apologetic, but the volume at which she had to scream her question into the phone made the entire interaction feel a little less impactful.
“Grade-A Asshole.” You groaned. “Where are you?”
“I’m at Josie’s, but-”
“Great. I’m on my way.”
You hung up the phone before she could respond and hailed a taxi. You felt a little guilty for barging in on her evening. Karen was a good friend, one that you’d clung to since you and Billy had gone your separate ways, and she deserved a night out without your moping. But the nagging feeling rolling around in the pit of your stomach told you exactly the reason you had to go to Josie’s. If you didn’t go hang out with Karen, you’d end up calling Billy, and the last thing you wanted to do was let him see you after a shitty date. You climbed into the taxi and hoped you could drink away the memories of tonight with Karen once you arrived at Josie’s.
Billy took a hefty sip of his beer as he eavesdropped on Karen’s phone conversation. Technically, it wasn’t eavesdropping if Karen had whacked him on the arm the second her phone started ringing, but it made Billy uncomfortable anyways. What they’d planned felt too much like a trick, and he didn’t want to take advantage of the situation.
“She’s on her way.” Karen grinned, raising her beer in the air to clink bottles with him.
Billy fiddled with the bottle in his hand, unsure if there was anything to be ‘cheersing’ to.
“C’mon, Bill,” Frank grunted, meeting Karen’s still outstretched arm, “It worked. She’s on her way. Now, all you have to do is be a lesser asshole than her date.”
“Don’t you think she’ll be furious when she finds out her entire evening was construed by her ex-boyfriend and best friends? She doesn’t even want to see me.”
“Trust me, Billy,” Karen angled her head for emphasis, “She does. She just won’t admit it.”
“How do you know, though?”
“I see it on her face, and hear it in her voice, and she’s still sleeping on my couch. And you know what that tells me?”
Billy rolled his eyes. “What does that tell you, Karen?”
Karen’s eyes twinkled with mischief. “That she’s not looking for another apartment. That she still has hope that she’ll be able to go home, to your apartment.”
Billy shook his head. “The market is insane. Maybe she just can’t find an affordable one.”
“I saw three listed in the paper this morning. She’s not looking, Billy. She misses you.”
Billy groaned, dragging his hands over his face. This entire situation was completely and totally fucked, and it was completely and totally his fault. He’d always been warned that his ambition would get the best of him. You’d slipped through his fingers so quickly that he got whiplash when he thought about the end of the relationship. It was like you were there one day and gone the next, and he had no idea how he ended up alone, stranded in his kitchen in the middle of the night because the idea of going to bed without you hurt too much.
“What if it’s too late? What if I can’t fix it?”
“All you can do is try, Bill.” Frank shrugged.
“She loves you.” Karen spoke firmly, tapping her finger on the table, “And you love her. But she needs to know that. You have to show her that you love her.”
“How? I thought I was doing that before.” Billy let out a disgruntled breath and cleared his throat.
“Your priorities need to change. She deserves better than last-minute cancellations and rescheduled dates. You’re your own boss, Billy. You make the rules, and no matter how much money you spend on her, or how many gifts you buy her, she’s always going to remember the times that you didn’t show up.”
Billy nodded. Karen was right, as usual. There’d been a significant change in the amount of time Billy was spending at Anvil, sometimes returning home early in the morning, only to change suits and leave again. It wasn’t your fault – it never was – but Billy couldn’t help himself from falling back into his old patterns. When shit got too real, he retreated, and it ended up costing him the most important thing in his life.
Tonight was his chance to fix everything – to bring you home, to remind you that he adored you, to show you that his life was falling apart without you in it. All he had to do was get you to listen, and he was sure everything else would fall into place.
You took three steps into the bar before swiveling around and marching out in a dramatic fashion. Cursing Karen for conveniently forgetting to mention that Billy was with her, you tried not to stomp down the sidewalk that led to Karen’s apartment. If you had an apartment of your own, you’d surely be stomping your way there instead.
You didn’t make it far before you heard your name being called behind you. Two distinct voices trailed you, but you were more focused on the lack of the third. Had he stayed behind at the bar? You swung around, almost slamming into Frank’s chest. Karen was a few steps behind him, and behind her, stood beautiful and broken Billy, hands in his pants pockets.
“What?” You screeched, eyes flickering between the group.
“I just wanted to tell you thaaaat,” Karen’s eyes twinkled, and you should’ve known that she was about to make your night go from bad to worse, “I’m going back to my apartment with my boyfriend, who is going to do very loud things to me for hours. If I were you, I’d steer clear of the whole block tonight.”
You rolled your eyes and looked at Frank, whose innocent expression gave away Karen’s plan faster than you could piece it together. Clearly, this coup had been planned, and they were leaving you with no option but to spend time with Billy.
“Is that so?” You narrowed your eyes at her, hoping she could read every nasty thought you’d ever had about her in your gaze.
“Yep!” She hooked an arm through Frank’s and tugged him down the sidewalk. “See you tomorrow!”
You watched them until they turned a corner, and you could no longer see them. When you turned to face Billy again, he had inched closer to you, standing a heady meter away with his hands still in his pockets.
“Did you plan this?”
The anger in your voice echoed across the concrete, slamming into Billy. He grasped his chest as if you’d shot him in the heart.
“No. I didn’t even know there was a plan until I showed up at Josie’s earlier.”
You hesitated to believe him, but something in the way he was looking at you told you to trust him. You looked him up and down, focusing on the way he looked worse than you’d ever seen him. For a brief second, you felt triumph over it. He deserved this after everything he did to you. He deserved to feel like shit. The triumph faded faster than it came, and an overwhelming sadness replaced the ire thoughts you were having about him.
There were bags under his eyes, and you could tell he hadn’t been sleeping well. He never did when he couldn’t sleep with you. The facial hair that he usually kept so neat and maintained had grown beyond his usual boundaries, and the fact that he kept subconsciously scratching at it told you he didn’t like it. You tried not to let it get to you. You probably looked like shit, too.
“How’ve you been?” His focus remained wholly on you. You rubbed the back of your neck to try and shake off his stare.
“We don’t have to do this, Bil.” You looked at the ground, focusing on the crack in the concrete that crawled its way across the sidewalk, drawing a line inbetween you and Billy. You couldn’t decide if that was fitting, or incredibly sad. Maybe it was both.
“We’re not doing anything.” He shook his head innocently.
“You know what I mea-”
“Come home.”
There was a pregnant pause in the conversation as the two of you eyed each other.
“Billy, I-”
“Just for tonight. Until Karen’s apartment is...safe again.”
You narrowed your eyes at him, searching for an ulterior motive. And of course, there was an ulterior motive. You couldn’t blame him for it, because you knew if the roles were reversed, you’d be doing the same thing.
“I don’t know if that’s a good idea.” You shook your head, more towards yourself than at him.
“Why not?” He cocked his head to the side.
“You know why.”
He nodded but shrugged his shoulders anyways.
“I’m not going to leave you out here with nowhere to go. It’s either the apartment, or we spend the next few hours in awkward silence at a diner.”
The apartment. Not ‘my’ apartment. He didn’t consider it his when you weren’t there to claim the other half of it. You couldn’t lie to yourself. You wanted so badly to go with him, to see the home that you’d built with him. You wanted so badly to see how he’d faired over the last month without you. It was with all this in mind, and not how much you missed him, that had you nodding, agreeing to go home. Just for a visit, you repeated in your mind, just for a visit.
When you stepped into what was once the living room you shared with Billy, you were struck with an overwhelming sense of familiarity. There was nothing different about it, except that the bookshelf was a little less stuffed than usual. You’d grabbed your favorites on your way out, unable to part with them, even just for a little bit.
“Can I get you some wine?” Billy asked, already heading toward the kitchen to pour himself a glass. You nodded, shrugging your jacket off and trying to ignore the strangeness of being treated like a guest in the home that you’d lived in for years.
When Billy returned with two particularly full glasses, you plopped down on the couch. You didn’t know how to act, or what to say, or who to be when you were around him anymore and falling back into old habits seemed like a grand way to get your feelings hurt again.
“You didn’t answer my question earlier.” Billy took a swig from his glass, sitting on the armchair across from the couch. You silently thanked the universe that he had put distance between the two of you. The closer he was, the less clearly you could think.
“Which one?”
“How’ve you been?”
“Oh.” You took a sip, only because it gave you something to do with your hands. “I’ve been alright.”
He smiled, but the corners of his mouth didn’t reach his eyes. Anyone who looked at you longer than two seconds could see that you’re clearly not doing alright, but you’d grown comfortable living in denial, and you weren’t going to admit how not alright you were.
“Heard your date didn’t go well.”
You scoffed. Maybe it was the wine, or the way he looked smug about the fact that you’d had a shitty date, but you couldn’t help what came out of your mouth next.
“Fuck you, Billy. It’s none of your business.”
Billy looked startled by your outburst. You gulped down another mouthful of wine before rubbing your hand down your face.
“I’m sorry.” You shook your head. “I don’t know where that came from.”
“It’s okay. I probably deserve it.” He shrugged, leaning back in his seat.
“What happened to us?” You asked, gazing at the ceiling.
“You tell me, sunflower. You’re the one that left.”
Your heart ached at the nickname. It wasn’t fair that he used it, especially when you were clearly in a vulnerable mood, but you cherished it anyways.
“You left first.”
It was barely a whisper, said so quietly that you weren’t quite sure he had heard you. If the palpable tension that followed wasn’t indicative of his acknowledgment, the deep sigh that erupted from his chest soon after was indication enough. He stayed quiet, swirling the remaining wine in his glass around in small circles.
You stared at him, unflinching in your assessment of his body language. He didn’t look as miserable as you felt, and a spark of anger ignited in your belly because of it.
“Did you ever really love me, Bil?” You barked. It was bait, and both of you knew it. You’d never questioned his love for you, and he knew you were trying to get a rise out of him, but he couldn’t help stepping up to the plate and taking the bait.
“What kind of fucking question is that?” He watched you closely. You tried not to let your triumph show on your face. “Of course, I love you.”
He stood from his seat and rested his hands on his hips, willing you to do the same. Meet him where he stood, he dared, show him how much you still care. You were nothing if not a daredevil. You joined him in the middle of the room, pressing your index finger into his chest.
“Well then, what the fuck happened?”
“You. Tell. Me.” He gritted from between clenched teeth.
Billy wasn’t being fair to you, and he knew it. You were asking a valid question, and he was cowering behind the anger and frustration in the room.
“I can’t do this again, Bil.” You turned, reaching for your purse. A heavy tug on your elbow had you crashing into Billy’s chest, where he enveloped his arms around you and pulled you into a crushing hold.
“You’re not leaving, are you?”
There was a softness in his voice that tugged at your heartstrings. For a moment, you forgot you were speaking to a grown man and not an orphaned little boy. You blew a long breath out before shaking your head. He rested his forehead against your shoulder.
“No, Bil. I’m not leaving.”
“I always knew I’d end up breaking your pretty heart.” His voice was muffled by your shoulder, but you didn’t miss the slight crack in his words. “I knew I’d fuck it up eventually.”
“I don’t understand what happened. Everything was fine, and then it wasn’t.” You blinked away the tears that had built up on your waterline.
“I know, baby. I’m so sorry.”
You cupped his face as he dropped to his knees in front of you. His eyes, now red-rimmed and glassy, pleaded with you, and you couldn’t stop yourself from lowering your body next to his.
“What’s going on?” You asked him, eyes flickering between his fast-blinking eyelids and rapidly shaking hands.
“I was afraid.” He cleared his throat. “Am. I am afraid.”
“Of what? Where is this coming from?” You gaped. You knew Billy struggled with commitment more than most – it had taken him almost a year of serious dating before he could tell you he loved you – but you thought he had moved past that.
“Tom’s getting married.”
Your brow furrowed. “What does Tom have to do with us?”
“Tom’s getting married, and all I can think about is how I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to give that to you, and how you deserve someone who can give you everything you want and more.”
You let his words sink into your chest, dissecting every interaction you’d had with him leading up to your breakup. It had been a slow descent, and when it finally became too much, you’d left with no clue how you ended up alone and sleeping on Karen’s couch every night.
“Billy,” You shuttered, shaking your head as tears began to travel down your cheeks, “I never said I wanted any of that.”
“It’s what you deserve.”
“But it’s not what I want. Why couldn’t you see that I was happy with the way things were?”
“I was terrified that you’d leave me. And then I became a shit boyfriend, and you really did leave me, and it was the worst thing that’s ever happened to me.”
You wiped the tears from under your eyes and sniffled. “You weren’t always a shit boyfriend.”
Billy snorted, letting a small smile cross his face as he tucked a piece of your hair behind your ear.
“Can you ever forgive me, sunflower?”
You considered his question. If you were being completely honest, you’d forgiven him as soon as you saw his pretty, brown eyes across the bar earlier, so sad and searching for you.
“Can you promise that you’ll tell me when you’re feeling like this again, instead of shutting me out?” You cupped his cheek, eyes flicking down to his lips and then back up to his eyes.
“I can promise that I’ll try.” He swallowed, searching your expression. “Is that enough?”
You lurched forward, pressing your lips to his. The kiss tasted of red wine and salt, and you were suddenly grateful that you’d slumped to the floor earlier instead of waiting until now, when your knees were weak and shaking with anticipation.
“I love you.” Billy mumbled inbetween kisses.
“Show me.” You responded, opening yourself to him for the first time in over a month.
He took you right there on the living room floor, a flurry of intertwined limbs, swollen lips, and skin brushing skin. His lips only left yours long enough to whisper praises against your neck before returning to yours in a bruising kiss. When you came apart underneath him, you couldn’t stop the tears from forming, but he didn’t mind. He kissed the tears away, apologies in their own right, as he continued showing you how much he loved you.
Later on, after hours of reconciliation and apologies, you collapsed next to Billy on the couch. You’d lost your clothes a long time ago, only covered with the throw blanket you’d purchased the year before on a whim, and you watched as he sighed in quiet contemplation.
“We should tell Karen and Frank that their plan worked.” You rested your head on his shoulder. He smiled, pulling you into his chest.
“Let them figure it out on their own. They’ll come around at some point tomorrow when you still haven’t gone back.”
He was right. The next morning, when Karen and Frank knocked on the door, you and Billy were still cuddled together on the couch, so worn out from the night before that you hadn’t been able to muster up the energy to move to the bedroom. You took one glance at Billy before you were on him again, uncaring that your friends were waiting. That’s fine, you thought, let them wait. Let them wait.

The Room is on Fire, Invisible Smoke
Soft!Billy Russo x Female reader
Part 1/2
Warnings: fire, mentions of gun, hints of SA
Part 2 here
Tumblr media
"Bill - Bills, I - I need you... your help. The room is spinning and there's smoke every where... I can't breathe... I am stuck Bills... "
You could hear a door close behind him on the phone - an assurance that he was on his way to you. You put your phone down and coughed into your pillow, burying your face into it to protect your eyes from the smoke.
It felt like you were going to pass out. You knew the room was on fire and that you needed to run but you could not bring yourself to stand up straight. It was too much. You could not breathe. It was as if your lungs had no clean oxygen left. Your eyes were watering from all the smoke. Your vision was blurry. It felt like you had nothing to hold on to and life was slipping away.
That is when you heard your door knob rattling.
"Y/N the door is locked... You need to come open it for me," he shouted through the door.
You sniffled and wiped your tears. You could hardly see the door in the heavy smoke. You wanted to reach out to him but didn't know how. Your legs had refused to work and you laid there helpless.
"Y/N, please. Help me help you..."
You could see how important it was for you to get up but you could not bring yourself to. What would be the point anyway? The doorknob would be too hot to even touch. You did not want to burn yourself. A little voice in your head told you that this was it. You turned your head back into the pillow and sobbed. You would not live to see your 27th birthday, or meet your nephew or finally show your colleagues how good you were at your job or tell Billy that -
There was a loud noise followed by a big thud. "Y/N?"You heard Billy call out.
You felt a dip in your bed and a pair of strong arms helping you sit up straight. The same person cupped your face gently, making you look at him - into his pitch black eyes that could pierce into your soul.
"Look at me Y/N," he said as softly as he could, afraid that even loud noises would be enough to break you at the moment.
Your eyes were red from tears and could barely look into his. He looked at you with so much love, so much gentleness, it was impossible not to melt. But you still could not breathe. Air was not reaching your lungs.
"I need you to focus on 5 things that you can see, baby. You don't have to say them out loud, just find them."
His eyes, his hands that were now holding your arms, his grey sweatshirt that you adored, the way his nose crooked a little bit in the middle and the ring on his last finger.
You gave him a nod, letting him know that you had five things in mind.
"You're safe, okay? I promise. Now focus on 4 things that you can taste."
You looked around desperately, but nothing seemed to come in focus. There was too much smoke. You could not find anything.
You shook your head, tears flowing down. "There's too much smoke, Billy. I - I can't"
"Y/N, I promise you're safe - "
You put your face into his chest, sobbing. "I don't wanna die, Bills..."
Sighing, he put his arms around you, trying to figure out a way to help you. "Do you want to leave this place?" He asked.
You had barely nodded into his chest when you felt his strong arms lifting you up and carrying you out. You did not turn away from him until you heard your bedroom door close and he sat you down on your living room couch.
You gave yourself a minute to look around, your French windows letting the sunlight in and falling on your brown marble floors was proof enough that you were safe. You could feel your lungs being cleared up as he kept a glass of water in front of you.
You did not look at him for the next two minutes. You did not know what to say or how to thank him. You knew there was no real fire or smoke in your bedroom and he knew that, too. He still made the efforts to come rescue you from the invisible smoke.
Wordlessly, you got up and put your arms around him, a gesture he reciprocated but not in the same manner. He was the first one to leave the embrace and walked out the door. Your well being was all that mattered to him.
You did not blame him. You remembered the fight as clear as day. He had asked you, pleaded you, requested you, ordered you, begged you, not to go with the random guy you had befriended at the bar 2 months ago. But you didn't care. If he was not willing to confess how he felt, then you weren't going to wait for him anymore either.
"Are you telling me that you are going to go away for the entire goddamn weekend with a guy you barely know? You met him at a bar, for fuck's sake, Y/N! Are you not thinking clearly?" He had screamed, his hands in his hair, pacing in your living room while you packed.
"Guess what, Billy?" You had answered just as harshly. "That's how people get to know each other! I am a big girl and I can take care of myself!"
You had huffed and zipped up your bag. "Is there anything else?" You had asked, hoping that he would ask you to stay. Not because he was concerned about your safety but because he wanted to be with you.
You had grabbed your keys and mobile phone on the way out without another glance at him. "Lock up behind you," you had said and left him standing there.
If he was being honest with himself, he regretted not stopping you or asking you out right then and there. But he had realised it was too late when he heard his car run out the drive way.
Sighing to himself, he had pulled out his phone to call you. Sure, he wanted to be with you but your safety was just as important. He did not trust the guy even one bit. The guy kept screaming 'danger' to him. If the situation would not have involved you, it would have been an intuition which he would have tracked down. But with you, he had to be careful.
That is when his eyes fell on your TV.
"Curtis," he had said dialling him. "You have a friend who works at the NYPD, right? I have a plate number. I need to see who this guy is."
The camera in the building's drive way had given him a very clear view. He had paced in your living room, waiting for Curtis to call him back. He fidgeted with your vases, the polaroids on your fridge until his eyes had landed on the one with him.
It was a simple picture. Nothing special. Just the two of you sitting together, beer bottles in hand, cheeks red, laughibg over something that would have been way too stupid. He had smiled fondly at the memory. It was a karoake night with Frank and Maria. Beer had made everyone think that Billy could actually sing but you... you were truly exceptional. There was not a note that you'd miss. You were beautiful... and he remembered undressing you with his eyes that night. Frank had to shake him to break him out his trance and remind him that you were in public.
He picked up his phone the second it rang, already out of your kitchen. "What is it, Curt?"
"It belongs to some Dr. Trent Ross. No previous records of any crime. Not even a parking ticket."
Billy finally relaxed a little. You had never mentioned his last name or what he did but that was because he had never bothered to ask.
"But this car was reported missing a month ago, Bills."
He had raced out of your house into his car and called one of his men to track your number. Wherever you were going, it wouldn't have been very safe with that guy.
He tried calling you but it went straight to voicemail. "Y/N, Hi. Billy here. You need to be - I am sorry, okay? Call me back please. It's urgent."
He could not have said anything that would make him suspicious. So he had to come after you himself. After almost an hour of driving, he still hadn't caught up to you and you were still going. He had cursed himself when he had to stop for gas but had closed the distance soon enough. Until your signal went out.
"No, no, no," he had muttered. He decided to reach the place where he could last see your location. He had never felt more helpless. He drove for a while until reaching a crossroad. No idea where you were.
Until he saw smoke rising. He was farther away from the city and could barely see. The only lights he had were his car's headlights. He drove as fast as he could, his heart beating faster with every moment.
He had to drive for 25 more minutes before he finally reached the cabin you two were staying at. It was a pretty large one with the fire confined to one side of it.
Silently thanking whoever was listening, he dashed out of the car, in through the wooden door. The fire had not spread yet but the smoke had. He called your name again and again. But no response came.
For a second, he had thought you and the guy had managed to escape but he heard someone coughing in a distant. His eyes burning and watering, he made his way upstairs.
And there you were. Cowering near the window, too afraid to even move.
"Y/N?" Billy had called out.
Your eyes fell on him and you had leaped into his arms.
"I am so sorry, Bills," you had sobbed into his shoulder as he lifted you up easily, tightening his grip around you. "I - I should have listened to you. I am so sorry. He accidentally heard your voice mail and got all weird and started asking me about you and then got really angry... and - and - I am so sorry, Bills," you were pretty sure you were ruining his favourite t-shirt with mascara and tears but you couldn't help it.
Seeing Billy was a breath of fresh air, quite literally, too. He was your silver lining, your rainbow and flowers after a thunderstorm and your bestfriend. He had started meaning something more but he refused to acknowledge that there was something between you. However, you could feel it. You could feel it in the way he always tucked you in when you would pass out drunk, the way he would never let anyone else get your drink, the way he would always drop and pick you up from the airport. You could feel it in the way he was holding you right then.
He had gently shook his head and made his way downstairs, still not letting go of you. Afraid that the fire in the other room would engulf you the moment your feet would touch the floor.
He was about to walk out the door with you when he had felt someone sneak up behind him. He dropped in his tracks and put you down. You did not want to let go of him but one look and you knew it was important.
"Go to my car and lock it from the inside," he had practically ordered after handing you his keys.
You nodded and sprinted out.
No sooner had you stepped out that Billy felt a gun at the nape of his neck.
"Finally," he heard a man say. "I had been waiting for this opportunity."
"What do you want from me?" He had replied calmly, without turning back. He knew that any and all quick movies could affect your safety.
"You are the reason my brother his dead," the man seethed. "Clain Stelk, remember?"
Billy's eyes widened in realisation. "Stelk was a trafficer who had it coming."
He remembered as vivid as day when you had come to his apartment running, half scared, half angry. A man had recently moved into the flat opposite yours and you knew something fishy was going on. People would come and go at weird times from his house. You had managed to click a picture of him on your phone. You had thought that he spotted you so you had rushed to Billy's place, confident that he would be able to figure it out. Or would know someone who could.
"He was my brother!" The man yelled into Billy's ears, snapping him out of his thoughts and pressed the gun further into his neck.
"I didn't realise you were an arsonist, too," he said, stalling enough to figure out a plan of action.
"I would have made better use of my time. But the bitch refused so I needed her to realise her mistake."
Billy hadn't take a second to turn around and punch him right in the guts. He knew why he was after him but you didn't deserve that. His heart ached for the way this guy must have treated you. And no body could ever disrespect you and your wishes and survive.
Before he could get up, Billy had pulled the curtains from the rod and wrapped it around him, making sure he didnt have access to his gun anymore. Carrying him out on his shoulders, he threw Stelk into the trunk of his car and locked it from outside. He would call the cops on the way back to the city. For now, your safety was more important.
When he turned around, you were already out of the car, watching his actions carefully. He had made his way slowly to you and pulled you in, breathing in your familiar scent.
You allowed yourself to be comforted by him. You were safe. For now.

Pairing: Tattoo Artist Billy Russo AU x F! Reader
Warnings: Fluff, couple of swear words, mentions of oral sex F! Receiving, mention of fingering (18+ please, no minors or I’m telling)
Word Count: 4.7k-ish
Summary: You have a crush on your tattoo artist. As it turns out, he may have a crush on you too.
A/N: Part One of I’m not sure how many yet. This one is all the way self indulgent right down to some of the tattoo photos in the moodboard. Bottom center are all mine and the octopus is the reference photo my tattoo artist is working from for my latest one which isn’t finished yet. Based off of the lovely conversation my lovely Lily @munsonownsmyass and I had while I was being tattooed this last time. I hope you like it! ❤️
As always, thank you for reading!  I appreciate it so much and comments, reblogs are welcome and encouraged. Don’t be shy to tell me your favorite part. 💕💕 💕
Casually thumbing through all the receipts in your wallet, you were looking for a specific one. You knew the appointment was coming up soon and you just wanted to make sure you had the right date…actually that was a lie, you knew exactly what day your appointment was on but you wanted to look at it again. Just looking at the receipt caused a smile to stretch across your face…every time.
At the top of the receipt had the date of your appointment, April 21, 2023, the line underneath the date had your name and phone number, the time of your appointment, and the name of your tattoo artist, Billy Russo.
Billy Russo. Just his name prompted the butterflies in your stomach and sent shivers down your spine. He was handsome, sweet, and had a very gentle touch when it came to tattooing whereas some artists you had previously gone to, did not. Looking at him, you swear he could have been a model with his good looks and perfect smile but he was an amazing artist and the perfect artist for what you wanted permanently inked on your body.
Some people preferred colored tattoos but you were in love with black and gray and they loved you. Billy always loved to tell you how well your skin took black ink and how anytime he tattooed you, your skin healed to perfection.
“Look at that. That healed up nicely, your skin really loves black ink doesn’t it.” He’d say with a warm smile.
Not only was Billy your tattoo artist, he was also your friend, texting back and forth, sending each other funny videos or memes, talking shit about some of his clients that didn’t sit well or that they were “flinchers.” It was just easy with him, you laughed a lot, shared stories, and Billy had many stories being a combat veteran. You felt like you could share anything with him and he was surprisingly comfortable with you, because he didn’t just openly share his life stories with a lot of people.
Billy was a very popular artist, everyone wanted an appointment with him so sometimes it was difficult to get into the shop. It took longer to do the sleeve you had been wanting than it should have because he was busy. Last time you had been at the studio, Billy put the finishing touches on it so this appointment coming up he would be tattooing your thigh, although he didn’t know it yet.
It was a sunny early spring afternoon walking to the studio in downtown Brooklyn. The breeze coming off of the water was cool but the sunlight directly hitting your skin felt exceedingly warm.
Billy had tattooed you countless times, but this would be the first time he’ll be tattooing you in a relatively intimate place, it was all you could think about, and you could feel the heat rising to your cheeks. Better to get it out of your system now than start to blush while you’re in the chair.
You were close and could see the shop window up ahead: Anvil Tattoo Studio. Goosebumps peppered across your skin as you fumbled for the door handle, you swallowed hard, and the butterflies in your stomach began to stir. You took a deep breath before walking through the door.
It was just another appointment, relax.
The scents of green soap, shaving cream, and something else that you never could quite put your finger on but the only way to describe it was…sterile, wafted through the air as you walked inside. The buzzing of the tattoo machines altogether sounded like a cluster of cicadas as they scratched and scraped across the skin. Closing the door behind you, Billy looked up from the client he was working on and smiled his perfect smile at you, and your stomach dropped.
So much for not blushing.
Billy’s best friend Frank sat in the chair across from him, watching closely as Billy placed red ink into a woman’s arm.
“I’m just finishing up, y/n. I’m so sorry I’m running late.” He said apologetically.
As you took a seat on the couch, Frank whispered something to Billy that made him look in your direction and smile. All of a sudden Frank was sitting next to you on the couch.
“How ya doin’, kid? What are ya gettin’ today?” Frank asked with a smirk on his face.
You smiled back. “I’m good, Frank! And today I’m getting an octopus.”
He looked at your arm with the sleeve, pointed and said “Well, I know you’re not putting it on that arm. You gonna start work on your other arm?”
You bit down on your lower lip, shook your head and gently touched your leg. “Actually, I want this one…on my thigh.”
Frank raised his eyebrows and sounded surprised when he replied “Really?” A sly smile spread across his face.
“What’s that look for?” You asked, narrowing your eyes at him.
Frank glanced at Billy, then back at you. “Bill know that you want your tattoo there?”
“Well, no…not yet. You saw me, I just got here.” You said nervously.
Frank continued to smirk at you.
“Ok, well I gotta get goin’. You have fun, kid. I wanna see a picture when it’s done and if know Bill like I think I do, it’s not getting finished tonight.” He said.
Looking a little confused, you replied. “I dunno, Frank. Billy works pretty fast.”
Frank reached out and grabbed the door handle. And only loud enough for you to hear, he whispered “When he wants to. Why do you think it took him so long to do that sleeve of yours?” He gave you a wink and walked out.
You sat back against the couch with Frank’s words played again in your head. “When he wants to.” What was that supposed to mean? Did Billy purposely work slower on your sleeve so he could see you more often?
Billy could have any woman he wanted. Sometimes they would come into the studio in droves wanting to make an appointment with him. He’d always tell them he’s booked solid for the next six months, which wasn’t a lie. You witnessed it firsthand one night while you were in the chair.
They all came in batting their eyelashes and twirling their hair asking for something small that ANY tattoo artist could do. You couldn’t help but roll your eyes at every sound that came out of their mouths because you had to admit, it did make you a little jealous even though you had no right to be.
Billy tattooed a lot of people, it was how he made his living. He wasn’t just yours, but maybe you wanted him to be. Maybe you wanted him to tenderly touch your skin in other ways, not just in a professional setting, and because he wants to and not because you’re paying him to.
As he finished up with his client, it was hard not to steal glances at him. He really was the most handsome man you had ever seen but you knew he couldn’t have the same feelings for you that you had for him. Yes, you were friends, but that’s it.
But what if Frank was right? What if he wasn’t joking around and Billy did work slower on purpose so he could see you more often. Could Billy Russo have on crush on you too?
This could turn out to be a long night.
After Billy’s client paid for her tattoo, she said goodbye and walked toward the entrance of the shop. On her way out the door, she glared at you and walked out. What possesses people to be nasty to someone they don’t even know?
Maybe she, like all the women that stop into the shop, had a crush on Billy too. Still, there was no excuse for behavior like that so you returned the gesture and narrowed your eyes back at her before she walked out of the shop.
Walking out from behind the front desk, you finally got a good look at Billy today. He was wearing a green waffle knit shirt, black jeans, and black boots whereas most of the time he would be wearing a shirt with his shop logo on it.
With his arms stretched out, you moved in close for a hug and a kiss on the cheek. It was the standard greeting you usually got from Billy with an extra squeeze at the end of the hug followed by the biggest smile. This really was one of your favorite places to be.
“Come on over, have a seat at the desk while I clean up and then we can get started.” He said.
Billy only had one other artist working today and he was just about done with his client.
“I’m almost done for the day, Bill. I’ll clean up and take off in a few.” He said.
Warmth spread to your chest as you asked Billy. “Is anyone else working today, Billy?”
The scent of 409 cleaner hung in the air while he was wiping down his tattoo chair. He smiled again and answered. “Nope, it’s just you and me tonight y/n.”
Oh no.
You quickly changed the subject. “Frank didn’t want to stick around tonight?” Frank always liked visiting with Billy while he worked, they were best friends and he always seemed to like visiting with you too when you came in.
“Ah Frankie said he had to get the kids off the school bus and make dinner tonight so he couldn’t hang out. He always likes it when you come in though.” Said Billy.
Was he the only one that likes it when you come into the shop?
“Why do you think it took him so long to do that sleeve of yours?”
Those words sounded like a broken record playing over and over in your mind and you remembered the first time he touched that tattoo needle to your skin. You placed your arm on the stand alone armrest and he started in on the outline but quickly paused.
“You’re gonna have to move a little closer to me, darlin’. It’s ok, I don’t bite.” He had said with a wink and a slightly wicked smile, as he pulled you closer to him.
The little flirtations progressed from there.
Starting out with a ¼ sleeve, he tattooed from your collar bone to just past your shoulder. You had to move your tank top and bra strap out of the way so he could work on that area, resting his hands on your chest, his long agile fingers wrapped tightly around the pen as he meticulously shaded the poppy flowers and lace. Every time he exhaled, his breath came in contact with you, goosebumps would scatter across your skin and he’d always ask if you were cold.
“Oh! No, no…Billy I’m fine.” You said.
When he tattooed the skull on your triceps, you had to lay face down on the tattoo chair, fingers grazing his pant leg, rubbing the fabric in between your fingertips took your mind off of the pain from the shading, that spot is surprisingly tender.
He pulled you out of your daydream.
“Huh?” You asked.
He smirked. “I said what are we doing today?”
“Oh! Right! I’d like an octopus.” You answered.
His deep brown eyes lit up as he asked excitedly. “Oh are we starting in on your other arm?” He took a sip of his water.
He wasn’t prepared for your answer.
“I’d actually like it on my thigh.” You said.
Billy coughed up a little water and swallowed hard as he finished cleaning up from his previous client and he seemed a little nervous. But he usually doesn’t get nervous and seeing him this way made you feel like maybe he DOES have a little crush on you.
He cleared his throat. “Oh! On your thigh? Ok, well do you have any, um, reference pictures for me?”
You pulled out your phone and navigated to the photo gallery, where you had a whole folder full of tattoo ideas and opened the photo of the one you liked. “I really like this little guy.” You said.
“Oh yeah, he’s great…this one is gonna be fun. Text that to me and I’ll start work on the stencil. You want this big, right? Take up most of the top of your thigh, right here?” He said as he placed both hands on your jeans, showing you the size he was thinking of.
“Yes, that’s a good size.” You answered.
“Come back and sit with me while I draw this up. You can tell me what’s new with you.” He said, rolling up his sleeves, revealing his patriotic tattoo sleeve underneath which you found incredibly sexy.
Billy asked about how work was going and life in general. You, in turn, asked how the business was doing, how his mom was even though he hated to talk about it. He had told you awhile ago he visits his dying mother once a week.
You think he mentioned that to you because subconsciously he wanted someone else to know, he didn’t want to keep that so close to the chest. It was a deep dark secret that hardly anyone knew about but you were privy to because he felt like he could trust you.
“She didn’t want me, she never wanted me.” He had said in a low voice, barely audible. “Shit, I really can’t believe I’m telling you all this.”
“You were a child, Billy. It’s ok to be angry.” You told him. “It’s just not good to keep that stuff inside, I’m glad you told me.”
Hovering over the light board, Billy continued to trace the outline of the octopus. “I’m almost done if you wanna change into your shorts.”
As you were changing in the restroom, you violently shook your hands and kicked your legs around to try and get out all of your nerves. The energy inside your body was shooting around like a pinball in a pinball machine, bouncing from one corner to the other and the butterflies in your stomach were turning in circles.
Stepping out from the restroom, suddenly you were a little self-conscious and felt exposed. Billy had never seen your bare legs before and the bike shorts you had on didn’t leave much to the imagination.
“All set?” He asked, his stare lingering longer than maybe he wanted it to.
You nodded and walked over toward his chair where he knelt down in front of you to shave the top of your thigh and just like that, your nerves were back with reinforcements. He was eye level with your core and your mind started to wander. You wondered what it would be like to have Billy’s face in between your legs, to have his beard tickle the inside of your thighs, placing kisses on the inside of your knees, and leaving love bites all over your stomach before devouring you.
It made you wet just thinking about it.
You pictured him pulling sinful sounds of pleasure from you using just his fingers. The same talented fingers he used to create beautiful works of art, now being used to draw circles on your clit. Parting your folds with one finger, then stretching you further with another, hitting that spot that makes your vision go white and your head spin.
“What do you think of the placement?” Billy asked, snapping you back to reality. “Go check it out in the mirror.”
You tried not to fall flat on your face as you slowly walked over to the full length mirror to look at the stencil, it took up most of the space on the top of your thigh and some of the tentacles wrapped slightly onto the side of your leg. He hadn’t even started yet and it already looked awesome.
“I love it!” You exclaimed.
Billy told you to stand around and wait for it to dry while he set up his machine, ink wells and other supplies. It was going to be mostly black and gray but the suction cups, you wanted them to be blue.
While you were waiting for the stencil to dry, you passed the time by checking out the other artist’s portfolios when Billy’s voice boomed from across the room. “ANDY! Stop checkin’ out y/n’s ass or you’re fired!”
No one could see, but you cracked a smile before you turned around to look at Andy who looked like a deer in headlights. He apologized profusely and you continued to look at everyone’s artwork while the stencil finished drying.
“Should be dry, y/n. Come have a seat.” He said.
The stack of paper towels was piled high on his side table, along with the box of black nitrile gloves. Everything was ready to go.
As you tried to get comfortable, Billy was figuring out how he wanted your leg to rest. You told him just to manipulate your leg to how he wanted it and because you have a dirty mind, you bit down on your lower lip to keep from laughing, realizing how that sounded when it came out. A slight smile spread across his face too.
He placed the copied photo you sent in front of him so he had a reference to work off of and got to work. The pen moved smoothly across your skin, drawing a solid black line for the outline of the head. The black ink pooling at the starting point as he wiped the excess away, concentrating on drawing a perfect line.
His gentle exhale grazed your thigh and left you wanting to clench but you couldn’t do that without risking him messing up, so you just held your breath in silence.
“Relax, darlin’. Ya know I tell you that every time you’re here. Relax your leg and turn it toward me…that’s it.” He whispered.
He had no idea what this was doing to you.
With both of his hands resting on your thigh, you closed your eyes and began to daydream again. You wondered if Billy had ever used his tattoo chair for play, thinking about his hands on the tops of your thighs and your hands making a mess of his ink like hair, as his tongue explores the part of your body emanating the most heat. The low moans he pulls from your lips fetch a wicked smile from him against your entrance that leaves your release glistening in his beard.
The long drag of the single needle against your leg jerked you out of your dream.
As he moved closer toward your inner thigh to draw one of the tentacles, the vibration of the needle hit a special spot that had you clenching your teeth. He stopped and looked at you, his eyes as black as the ink he was using, and the concern in his voice made you smile. “Are you ok? Did I hurt you?”
“No, Billy I’m fine…really.” You whispered which was followed by a slight chuckle.
“What’s so funny?” He asked. His tone was silvery and sweet like candy.
“Oh it’s nothing.” You said.
“Come on, y/n. Tell me.” He begged.
You paused for a second and finally got the courage to say it out loud.
“I was just thinking that after all these years of you tattooing me, you finally got my pants off.” And you burst out laughing.
Billy’s smile extended from ear to ear. He placed his pen on the table, took off his gloves, and said he had to go outside for a minute.
He stepped out onto the back deck, and left you inside alone. Andy took off a little while ago so it was just you and Billy at the shop.
A few minutes had passed when he came back inside, you were sitting sideways on the chair with your legs dangling off of the side. He walked right to you and stopped, the gap between your bodies was small and he gazed down at you. His onyx colored eyes had you frozen in place, almost forgetting to even breathe.
He had never looked more gorgeous.
As he bent at the waist, still staring at you, he raised one finger and said. “No one…has ever made me blush like that, y/n.”
“Is that a good thing or a bad thing?” You asked, looking up at him through your dark lashes.
Billy started to close the gap between your bodies even more like he was going to kiss you but pulled away just as fast.
“Lemme ask you something, y/n. Why do you think I took so long to finish your sleeve?” He asked.
Oh shit…Frank was right. But you decided to play dumb.
“Well, I don’t know Billy…I just figured since we spend a lot of time just talking before we actually start tattooing, we run out of time and you just book me another session. No big deal.” You said.
He starting shaking his head and put his hands on his hips. “No, that’s bullshit. You’ve seen how fast I can work, I coulda had that sleeve done in half the sessions it actually took.”
“Then tell me, Billy. Tell me why it took you so long.” You said with your voice slightly raised.
He ran his fingers through his raven colored hair and brushed his beard with his fingers. His slightly agitated state told you that he wasn’t used to saying how he felt.
“I did it on purpose so I could see you more often, ok?!”
You thought your heart was going to burst out of your chest. The feeling WAS mutual.
“And look, I know you’re probably mad that I made you come in—“
You interrupted him.
“I like you too, Billy.” You weren’t sure that he heard you over his ranting.
“What?” He asked and took a few steps closer again.
“I.Like.You.Too.”
You barely got that last word out before his lips crashed onto yours, his hands tangled in your hair and his tongue touched your teeth begging to twist and knot with yours. His kisses were hungry, all tongue and teeth as his nipped up and down your neck. Your body felt like it was on fire and you didn’t want him to stop but you were in the middle of getting a tattoo, so you pulled away.
“Billy? My leg.” You said, shyly.
“Fuck…I forgot.” He said as the two of you started to chuckle as he cupped your cheeks and leaned in to kiss you one more time.
After you cooled down at little, you and Billy resumed your session. He finished the outline and did a little shading before calling it a night, although it was difficult to concentrate on anything except remembering Billy’s lips all over you.
“I don’t wanna keep you here too late, beautiful.” Billy said with a warm smile as he started to clean off your skin, prepping it for the tegaderm dressing he was going to put on. The clear plastic film was thin, sterile and it kept out water and germs but it was also breathable which made the healing process a lot faster.
On his knees in front of you, he carefully placed large strips of the flexible plastic on your leg, making sure to cover the entire tattoo. Every time his calloused fingers grazed your leg, he felt the goosebumps rise up to touch his fingertips. You couldn’t help it.
“Is it cold in here, y/n?” Billy’s voice sounded very concerned.
You shook your head slowly back and forth, biting down on your lower lip and gazed down into his intense brown eyes. The skin on the top of your thigh was red and hot to the touch. It matched the skin on your cheeks. Billy inched closer to you, his warm exhale brushed against the inner part of your knee which made your vision hazy.
You could tell he was having a hard time concentrating too.
“Ok, you’re all set.” Billy said taking off his gloves. “That’s gonna look badass when it’s all done. When do you wanna come back?”
He asked nervously.
“Billy?” You asked.
“Yeah?”
“Please don’t make me wait.” You said with a slight hitch in your voice.
Throwing his gloves away, he started to walk over to his desk calendar.
“I don’t want you to wait, so just tell me when you want—“
You cut him off.
“I’m not talking about that, Billy.” You said.
He narrowed his eyes. “Then what—“
You interrupted him again.
“I want you to kiss me again, Billy. Don’t make me wait.”
He delicately moved a stray hair away from your eyes as you clasped your hands around his neck and pushed yourself up onto your toes to kiss him again. The taste of peppermint on his soft lips still lingered from the gum he was chewing earlier as you allowed his tongue access to your mouth.
You clung to him almost desperately, not wanting to let him go but he was like a magnet that no matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t pull away from him.
“I want you back here in two weeks.” He said.
With your eyes wide, he kind of caught you off guard. “Oh…well ok. Just let me know which—“
It was his turn to interrupt you.
“But I wanna see you tomorrow…for dinner.”
A shy smile played across your face.
“Really?” You asked.
Billy’s entire body smiled at you.
“Y/n, I’ve wanted this since the very first day you walked into my shop. I feel…” He paused, grazed his beard with his thumb and forefinger, and sat down on his tattoo chair.
“Billy?”
“Every time I tattoo you, I always end up telling you something about myself that I thought I would end up taking to the grave whether it’s about my shitty childhood or how I listen to 80’s hair metal when no one’s around. Remember what I told you, don’t you DARE repeat that!” He cracked a smile.
You couldn’t help but giggle at his idle threat but you were just as comfortable around Billy as he was with you.
“The point is, I like this…being comfortable enough where it’s easy for me to share this stuff and it’s easy with you.”
“That’s what friends are for, Billy.” You said.
“Well, what if I wanna be more than friends?” He asked.
Billy looked nervous after saying that, almost scared as to how you would reply.
“Like friends that see each other naked?” You said with a little laugh.
“How many times are you gonna make me blush today?” He asked trying to hold in his laughter.
Walking over to where he was seated, you straddled him so your knees were on either side of his hips and adjusted yourself so you were firmly pressing down on his crotch.
“At least one more time, handsome.” You whispered against his mouth before your lips collided with his. “I like making you blush.”
As you gently nibbled on his ear lobe, he let out a low moan before saying “Oh I’m gonna have my hands full with you, huh sweet girl.”
Unexpectedly, he thrusted his hips up against your core and you expressed a tremor of pleasure. The thin fabric of the bike shorts didn’t shield you from feeling the outline of his hard cock against you, teasing you, and you wanting nothing more than to feel him inside you, soaking him and the chair underneath him so much that he would need more than just a paper towel to clean it up.
You’d save that for another night though.
“Mmmm hmmmm...but I’ll let you take me out to dinner first, baby.” You said.
Billy leaned forward to kiss you again as you raked your fingers through his hair, gently scraping your nails against his scalp. He kissed you with a passion like his kiss was always meant to be yours, tasting you, and binding his body to yours so he would never forget all of the curves and hollows of you that haven’t yet been touched with his tattoo pen.
“Ok, well let me finish cleaning up and I’ll take you home.” Billy said.
A mischievous grin stretched across your lips.
“Take your time, handsome because god damn, I love to watch you work.”

Billy: So what’s he like?
You: Older
You: Keeps telling me that older guy’s are more experienced
You: And did the classic ‘age is just a number line’ and winked
You: So it isn’t great tbh
Billy: Jesus
Billy: I’m on my way
Billy: Just stay in the restroom until I get there okay?
A well of emotion catches in your throat, Billy knows how awkward and anxious you get in certain situations. You feel like you can breathe a little easier now that you know Billy is on his way.
You: Thank you Billy
Billy: Don’t mention it
Billy: I’ve got Jim driving me so you can keep texting me
You shake your head at the thought of Billy turning up at this dive of a bar with his chauffeur. But you’re glad you can continue texting Billy, instead of sitting in the restroom alone with your thoughts.
Billy: Keep telling me how awful he is so I have an excuse to beat the shit out of him
You: Thank you
You: But please don’t
You: Don’t want you getting in trouble over me
Billy: Alright princess
Billy: A clean in and out rescue mission it is then
You: I don’t think I can afford an Anvil bodyguard
Billy: I’m sure the CEO could offer you a discount
You: How generous of him
You: Sounds like a nice guy
Billy: If you say so princess
You frown at his words. He always doubts himself, and he accepts compliments even worse than you do.
You: Billy
You: A bad guy wouldn’t be ruining his night to come and rescue me
You: You’re one of the good ones
Billy: My night isn’t ruined if I get to see you
Your heart skips a beat as you read his words. Seeing Billy will most definitely improve your night as well.
Billy: Do you want me to sneak you out? Or do you want me to show him you’re unavailable?
You: *Tell
Billy: What?
You: You said show him instead of tell
Billy: Oh no I’d show him
You: ????
Billy: By kissing you for the whole bar to see
Your jaw drops, and you breathe out a stunned laugh. Billy had that natural confidence that always put you at ease, and the audacity he had often made you laugh.
You: Billy!!!!
Billy: What? Don’t tell me you’ve gone all shy
Billy: We’ve kissed before
You: Yeah during spin the bottle or whatever stupid game you wanted to play during drinks night
Billy: You didn’t think it was stupid when we played seven minutes in heaven
Your stomach flips, and your cheeks warm even further as you remember the night he’s referring to. You and your friends had all met up at Billy’s place for some drinks, and somehow you’d ended up roped into a game of seven minutes in heaven. Which led to you and Billy being pushed into a closet.
The two of you had sat cross-legged facing one another in the low light of his closet, and traded several long, slow kisses. Just to play the game of course.
You: You promised not to mention that ever again
Billy: Why?
Billy: You getting flustered baby?
You: No
Billy: I think you are
Billy: I think you’re squirming with that adorable expression on your face
Billy: What are you wearing baby?
You: Are you seriously going to sext me while I’m sitting on the toilet lid in a bar?
Then he sends a photo. And you stop breathing as you take in the image. He’s still dressed in his dress pants from work, and his thighs are spread wide. His ring clad hand is settled on his thigh, allowing you see the bulge in his pants. You swallow hard at the thought of his size.
You: You wore those rings to work?
Billy: Yeah they’re new
Billy: You like them baby?
You’re still warm from the heat of the crowded bar, and a shiver runs through you at the thought of Billy’s fingers trailing down your side, with the cool metal of his rings bringing goosebumps to your skin. You chew on your lip, and manage to type out a rather diplomatic response.
You: They’re nice
Before Billy can make any sort of comment about your reply, you type another message.
You: I’m wearing the dress you bought me for my birthday
Billy: You picked my dress for your date?
You: Yeah it’s my favourite
You: Gives me a confidence boost
There’s a long pause as you wait for a response from Billy, and you worry that you’ve said something wrong.
Billy: I’m here
As soon as Billy’s message appears on your screen, there’s a knock at the door. You type out a quick text to Billy.
You: I’ll come find you
Then you slide your phone into your purse, and unlock the door.
Only to be greeted with the sight of Billy leaning against the door frame, the glow from his phone screen lighting up his face. He smiles widely when he sees you.
“Not if I find you first.” He teases, pulling you to his side immediately.
“Billy.” You breathe out quietly, fingers curling into the fabric of his suit. He’s still dressed for work, and as the scent of his cologne fills your nose the tension leaves your shoulders. You smooth your thumbs up and down the material, allowing the feeling of it to ground you.
Billy also breathes a small sigh of relief at having you in his arms. He runs a hand down your back, before settling it at your waist. He rests his chin on the top of your head, breathing in the unique scent that is solely you. Your shampoo, sharp and fruity as it clings to your hair, as well as the soft, sweet scent of your perfume. You’re warm in his embrace, chasing the chill of the evening away from his body.
Billy’s lips brush against the crown of your head for a brief moment, before he murmurs,
“Let’s get you home.”

When Billy returned from a late night with some clients he expected you to be asleep. Instead you were up on your phone mindlessly scrolling.
“Hey sweetheart, it’s almost midnight, what are you doing up?”
You turned around, looking at Billy. Your eyes looked heavy and he thought you might pass out at any moment. Chuckling to himself he reached over the couch and picked you up.
“How about we share a bed tonight? You look tired baby”
He was right, it was nearly midnight. Staying up late was one of the many things you hated. You could barely make it to 10pm without being moody. As he placed you down on his you watched him change into pyjamas. Whistling playfully when he was in his boxers. In retaliation he threw a pillow at you.
“Come on, sleepy times sweetheart”
Billy pulled you into his chest and in a matter of minutes you were asleep. Snoring like a puppy. He found it adorable, he got lucky with you.
