I'm tired of ruby's breakdown being an excuse to just. ignore her entire character before this? looking for hints and foreshadowing OR intentionally reading her character in a new way is cool, but theres such a lack of self awareness in entirely reinventing her character
saying "see! she's always been angry and sad and toxic!!" and then pulling previous lines and moments out of context is just as frustrating as saying her breakdown was OOC or too "ugly"
ruby rose is a shockingly complex character!! she can be a good leader and a good friend and a good sister and a positive person AND be angry and hurt and inherently tragic and depressed!! ruby getting to be more than one thing is what makes this exploration of her character so interesting!!

Patreon Reward: Intimate Fireworks
Maria Calavera was nervous. Not only had her boyfriend, Jaune, invited her to meet his family, she truly wanted to have sex with him for the first time, even having a bikini themed around the holiday that she was going to wear to seduce him! Thankfully, with the advice and encouragement from one of Jaune's mothers, she found the courage to celebrate with a different type of fireworks~
Jaune smiled as he got off the bullhead, and not only because he was finally off of the flying death trap. The other reason was the fact that he was finally able to introduce his girlfriend to his family. Speaking of…he glanced behind him to see the cocoa skinned beauty stepping off the bullhead behind him, carrying her own bag over her shoulder, looking pensive.
“Maria…are you still nervous?” he asked, glancing at his silver-eyed girlfriend. Maria Calavera had joined Beacon with them, becoming his partner and forming a team with Lie Ren and Nora Valkyrie.
She was incredibly skilled with her twin Kama, Life and Death, and her eyes were among the most beautiful things he had ever seen (Ruby called them “Silver Eyed Twinsies” when she had found out she had Silver Eyes too). She was slim, but shapely, her waspish waist making her breasts and hips seem even larger than they actually were.
But despite all her skill and talent, Jaune knew that she and Ruby were twins in another way besides their eye color and preference for curved blades…they were both incredibly socially awkward.
“Don’t worry about it; my moms and sisters will love you!” and he meant that. Granted, his sisters had always teased him that it would take a special type of woman to keep up with him. He had thought it an insult, but realized that it wasn’t after a while.
Maria hadn’t found his like of comics childish or silly, like Blake. She hadn’t found the fact that he was physically weaker than her funny, like Yang. She hadn’t sniped at him for having trouble following some of the lessons, like Weiss.
She had been patient and helped him. And well, after his grades had been raised, he had offered to repay her, taking her out to a cafe he knew she liked. One outing had led to another, and eventually, they both realized that they were dating.
They had kept it quiet, feeling things out, but they both realized very quickly that they truly enjoyed each other’s company, and before they knew it they were openly dating, much to the shock of most.
But now, they were taking a big step. Since they had a three day weekend, Jaune was inviting her to his home for the fourth of July to meet his family…
…and Maria had been flustered and nervous ever since. He didn’t know why, but he knew that his moms and sisters would love her. He just hope that she could calm down…
~
Maria flushed as she found herself surrounded by a slew of blue eyed blondes (by the Gods, Jaune hadn’t been kidding about two mothers and seven sisters!), and one woman with skin a similar shake of cocoa to her own.
Terra Cotta-Arc, who had married Jaune’s older sister Saphron, had been the one to meet them, and welcomed her personally there, also letting her know that they’d be eager to learn more about her, but not to worry about anything beyond some teasing…
…which they were doing with force. She was sure her cheeks were going to be on actual fire if they kept making jokes about protection, and when were they getting nieces and nephews, and did Jaune tire her out, because he could run for hours without getting tired-
“Okay, girls! Let her breathe~!” Jaune’s mother, Juniper Arc, a beautiful and buxom blonde woman, with one blue and one green eye, said as she waved her daughters down, holding her wife, Jaune and the girl’s other mother, a slimmer, but just as curvy blonde woman by the name of Amarilla Arc, gave her a secret smile, her own silver eyes (something that made her gasp with shock when she noticed) twinkling as she glanced at their intwined hands.
As Jaune’s sisters made their way back a bit to let them breathe, Amarilla moved and gave Maria a welcoming hug. “You’re looking to actually be with him tonight, aren’t you?”
Maria’s cheeks burned, but she nodded. No point in lying, after all. She had been wanting to be with Jaune for a month now, but there had never been a proper time. She had even brought something to celebrate the holiday…cheeks getting darker, she shook her head, only to see the older woman smiling at her.
“Wait until tonight when the fireworks start~ It’ll be nice and poetic to make love under the fireworks. Go to Jaune’s room and get on the roof…you’ll love it~” Maria thought she should be mortified by how the woman winked at her in a conspiratorial manner, but she felt thankful that her boyfriends mother was willing to give her tips.
“Thank you.” she said softly, getting another cheeky grin in response, before she moved back to Juniper, and Jaune came back over from talking to his younger sisters.
“Hey, Ria…you calmer now?” he asked, taking her hand into his and rubbing it. His face was concerned, but he was smiling softly. She found herself smiling back, much more naturally this time.
“Yeah…everything is perfect, Jaune…” she hummed, cuddling up against him as they watched the entirety of the family move about during the cookout, enjoying the smells of the grilling food.
~
After a hearty meal, there had been some storytelling between all the siblings, each of them trying to one up the others with embarrassing moments of their lives. The sisters eagerly shared stories about Jaune being dressed in skirts and other embarrassing stories where he was a dress up doll for them, but Jaune took no quarter, telling just as embarrassing stories about them and their crushes. Currently, the story involved one time when Saphron had accidentally asked Jaune to read out a text because her hands were full, and it had ended up being a sex text, complete with a…less than clothed selfie of Terra.
Both women were radiating heat, Maria knowing who won that round, and it wasn’t the sisters. But she was getting antsy; it was getting late in the day, the sun slowly starting to go down. She had already changed in the bathroom earlier; her secret little garment currently rubbing up against her intimates.
It was Amarilla who spoke up next, her tone soft, but pointed. “Okay, children, calm down. You know the fireworks are going to be starting within an hour! Get cleaned up and get in place for it!” she gave Maria a wink as there was a scramble of the younger girls to run in and get cleaned up for what was to come.
~
Maria swallowed hard as she stood in Jaune’s bedroom. It was undeniably a boy’s room, with posters for Spruce Willis movies and X-Ray and Vav comics, as well as models and figurines of Huntresses and Grimm on his shelves.
“We can sit on the roof; there’s a little nook where we can see the fireworks perfectly!” Maria shifted a bit as she imagined it, much like how Jaune’s mother had teased her about doing. “If you have some more comfortable clothing, you might wanna change into it; its supposed to be really nice tonight.”
Maria swallowed hard, reminding herself of what she was wearing underneath her clothes, but she smiled daringly. “That sounds good~” she began to unbutton her shirt, revealing the flawless skin of her cleavage, the large swells of her breasts bulging out as she loosened her shirt. He didn’t notice, his back still to her, but she didn’t mind, finishing unbuttoning her top and letting it fall from her hands to his floor with an inaudible sound, revealing the brightly colored red, white, and blue bikini top barely holding her breasts back.
Her fingers popped the button of her pants, and she slowly pushed them down, revealing the bottoms that covered her mound and bottom well (she made sure she got a decently covering one, not only to tease Jaune with what was hidden, but also in case someone else saw her in it) and she walked up to him as he opened the window. “I’ve been looking forward to this…” she said, knowing that Juane would think that she meant the firework show, but she meant a different set of fireworks entirely.
“I’m glad that you are, the fireworks show is always…something…worth…” she couldn’t help but smile as Jaune turned to see her standing in his room in what amounted to a star spangled bikini.
“I think this will be suitably comfortable for the summer night air, don’t you?” she asked, smiling brightly at her boyfriend, seeing him swallowing hard, the apex of his pants swelling as his eyes trailed over her body. “Let’s get into a good spot~” she crawled out of the window, making sure to take her time and wiggle her rear as she did, smiling as she heard a choked sound coming from her boyfriend.
As they settled into the little hidden nook on the roof as the sun went down, Maria enjoying the cool breeze touching her skin, almost as much as she enjoyed a shirtless Jaune’s eyes roaming her body. She knew that she was attractive, many men had made passes at her in the halls of Beacon, both before and after she had started dating Jaune; but it felt undeniably good to know he desired her in that was as well.
“So, how long do the fireworks run?” she asked. She wanted to know so she knew how long they would have, how long they could go unnoticed.
“Uh…it generally lasts until midnight? So, we have four hours for it.” as he spoke, the first pop, pop, pops of fireworks being sent into the air began to fill the darkening sky, making Maria smile.
“Good~” she purred, reaching behind her and tugging on the knot to her bikini top, feeling the red, white, and blue top falling away from her breasts, the heavy mounds falling and settling down on her chest. She spun the bikini top on her fingers, smirking to herself as she turned fully towards her boyfriend. “Oh, Jaune~” she tossed her top at him as he turned, hitting him in the face. She couldn’t help but chuckle as he sputtered, pulling the garment off, realizing what it was, and then managing to impress her by having enough blood to blush and get hard at the same time.
Getting on all fours, for purchase as much as seductive reasons, Maria felt her breasts hang down beneath her as she slowly crawled over to her boyfriend, pushing him down and looming over him, letting her breasts brush against his chest, her nipples hardening as her starred bottom piece soaked from the look of lust that she was being given.
Maria smiled. “What do you say that we experience some more intimate fireworks?” she purred, her smile widening as she saw Jaune nod rapidly. “Wonderful~!” she hummed, her hands moving to his shorts and pulling them down, licking her lips as Jaune’s sizable cock was freed, slapping against his belly.
Sitting up and straddling his waist as the fireworks launched and burst into sparkling streams of pyrotechnics overhead, Maria tugged her bikini bottom to the side (she wasn’t patient enough to remove it entirely) and grabbed his shaft, biting her lower lip as she felt the blistering heat seep into her palm and fingers.
Rubbing his fat tip against her soaking lips, she slowly pressed down, her silver eyes rolling up in her head as she felt herself being spread open, a throaty groan escaping her mouth as she felt herself being filled, filled, filled-
Her hips began to move on their own, her core gobbling up his shaft and beginning to work up and down over his cock.
~
Jaune watched in awe as his beautiful girlfriend bounced on his cock, claiming his virginity under the night sky. The fireworks dotting the night sky lit her skin up in a beautiful, almost ethereal fashion, her breasts bouncing as she moved on top of him, her bikini bottom bunched to the side as she clenched around his shaft, bringing him more pleasure than he had ever felt.
Reaching up, he gripped her hips and helped her move more smoothly, feeling her wetness dripping over him and dribbling down over his balls, their moans lost underneath the sound of the explosions in the sky, lost in the moment, and in each other.
~
Maria moaned as Jaune helped them along, her core clenching down harder around the thick flesh within her. She was shamefully close already, but she felt no embarrassment over it, simply overjoyed that she was able to able to share this with her boyfriend.
She felt a bubble of pleasurable heat filling her belly, and the telltale tingle behind her eyes warning her that she was in danger of her silver eyes activating. Meaning she should have stopped until it faded.
But she didn’t. She wasn’t going to stop the first orgasm by something other than her own hand. She arched her back, throwing her head back with a silent wail, squeezing her eyes shut as silver light bled through the lids.
As Jaune groaned underneath her and came heartily, shooting his hot cum into her depths, Maria cried out, letting go, cumming hard, her eyes opening.
~
Amarilla Arc smiled as she could just barely see movement on the roof from where she was, cuddling into Juniper’s side, knowing that Maria had taken her up on her advice and was currently rocking her son’s world.
As the fireworks crashed overhead, lighting the night sky with colored lights, the more buxom of the pair smiled, wondering if Maria would have the same reaction during sex she always did with Juniper~
As a bright silver light flashed and filled the night sky, making their daughters coo with awe as it made the fireworks look even better, she laughed softly, even as Juniper groaned softly, realizing what was happening.
“Relax, love…it was bound to happen sooner or later~” she purred, nibbling on her wife’s earlobe. “Let’s enjoy the rest of the show…then we can have some fun of our own~?” she implored, getting a shudder out of her wife at the seductive promise behind her words.
~
Maria mewled as she looked down at her shocked boyfriend, feeling the mystical energy bleeding from her eyes. A small part of her told her to stop until it faded, and then continue.
But Sensible Huntress Maria was clubbed over the head by Horny Succubus Maria with a wrought iron shovel, enticing her to continue.
Grinning lewdly down at Jaune, she worked her hips more. “We still have plenty of time before the firework show ends…let’s see if those fireworks or ours are better~!”
~
As the last fireworks in the sky slowly faded, a fully naked Jaune and Maria cuddled against one another under the night sky, their warmth fighting off the chill of the night air cooling their sweat. “Mmm~” Jaune glanced at his beautiful girlfriend as she nuzzled against him lovingly, mewling as he rubbed her back gently.
While he would admit that it was something of a shock (and more hot than he would have thought, seeing Maria in that red, white, and blue bikini) how the night turned out, especially with the “Silver Flashbang” she pulled off with each orgasm she had during their lovemaking.
As he pulled her closer, he wondered if she would still do that later on…and with no small amount of horror, realized what those flashes coming underneath his mother’s door were now.
Shuddering, he pushed the though away, deciding to gather up his sleeping girlfriend and take her to his bed.
Who knows? Maybe in the morning they could have a repeat of what they had done?

Mini Fanfic #790: Kind of Went Too Far. (RWBY)
12:45 p.m. at the Sidewalks of Mistral.......
Sun: (Starts Panting by a Nearby Pole Alongside with Oscar) Hey....('Pants') Oscar....('Pants') Do you think....('Pants') anyone noticed.....('Pants') that we're long ('Pants').....gone ('Pants')....already? (Starts Wiping the Sweat Off his Forehead)
Oscar: Maybe?....('Pants') Sort of?.... ('Pants') I really don't know at this point to be honest....(Starts Wiping the Sweat Off his Forehead as Well) Let's just hope none of them followed us all the way here....
Sun: Yeah......
?????: ('Ahem')
The duo turns and see Whitley standing behind them while crossing his arms.
Whitley: Do I even wanna know you two are up to right now?
Sun: Oh. (Smiles Brightly at the Youngest Schnee) Hey, Whitley. Oscar and I were just running away from an inevitable doom back at the house.
Whitley: (Raised an Eyebrow in Confusion) Pardon?
Oscar: ('Sigh') We were trying runaway from Yang and possibly even Ruby's wrath after Emerald made a comeback on their mom, Summer.
Sun: Who's not here with us in the land of the living..... Doesn't help the fact that Neptune laughed throughout the whole thing. So....here we are.
Whitley: I see.....Well, I can't say I blame those two for being crossed with her. Throwing insults on the dead does seem pretty distasteful if you ask me.
Oscar: ('Sigh') Tell me about it......But anyways, what are you doing out here, Whitley? Taking a scroll around town?
Whitley: Not necessary. (Points at a Building in Front of Him) I was simply going to the café on the other side of the road. (Smiles a Little) I heard their coffee was almost to die for.
Sun: (Smiles Brightly at the Café) Ah dude! You're going to the Mistral Café? Their coffee, expressos and frappuccinos are the best in the town!
Oscar: (Smiles Softly) I have been wanting to go there for a while now...
Whitley: (Sighs While Putting on a Deadpinned Look on his Face) I take it you two simpletons want to tag along, don't you?
Sun: Uh. Correction. Oscar and I are Huntsmen. (Went Back to Smiling) And hell yeah we wanna tag along!
Oscar: (Smiles a Bit Sheepishly) If you don't mind any company that is....
Whitley: ('Sighs a Bit in Defeat') I suppose I don't mind.....But you two are paying for your own drinks.
Oscar: (Simply Shrugs) Fine by us.
Sun: Yup.
Few Minutes Later Outside of the Mistral Café.......
Oscar: (Smiles Brightly at a Cup of Coffee He Just Drank on his Side of the Table) You were right, Sun. This has to be the best coffee I've ever tasted.
Sun: Right? (Smiles Relaxingly While on the Other Side of the Table) Told ya this place has the best coffee in town.
Whitley: (Nodded in Agreement While Sitting on the Middle of Table, Enjoying his Cup of Expresso) I agree. This Expresso is magnificent in it's own right. It might rival that to Klein's coffee.
Sun: Uhhhh....Who exactly is-
Oscar: (Turns to Sun) He's the Schnee Family's Butler, Sun. Or at least I....think he still is?
Whitley: He isn't really our Butler anymore. But he does seem to spend a lot more time with mother as of late.
Oscar: Oh, really? Cool. (Turns to Whitley) How's Mrs. Schnee been doing lately if you don't mind me asking.
Whitley: She's doing fairly well for the most part. Still adjusting to the outside world and whatnot. (Smiles a Little) We started to spending a lot more time together than before actually. Speaking of which, she wanted to if you and the others would like to accompany us on a trip one of these days.
Oscar: (Smiles Softly) I have ask everyone else about it first, but other than that, it's sound like a plan alr-
Emerald: (Came Out of Nowhere Slams the Table While Glaring at Oscar With a Black Eye, Causing the Boy Get Startled) ('SLAM') Oscar, you traitorous little shit!
Neptune: (Frowns Over Dramatically at Sun While Having a Black Eye of his Own) What the heck, man!? You guys seriously left in there alone!?
Oscar: Oh! Uh....(Chuckles Awkwardly at the Two Black Eyes Friends) H-Heyyy, Emerald..... Neptune....I uhh...Take it that....Yang has..... already pulverized the both of you.... didn't she?
Emerald: Yeah. She did. The girl literally tackled us from the other side of the room and gave us both black eyes. I couldn't even reacted to all of that in time!
Neptune: It took us five and half minutes to escape the house. And once we noticed that you guys were missing in there, decided to look for the both of you.
Emerald: And now we found out that you two have been here enjoying your little coffees this entire time while we suffered! The hell was that all about!?
Neptune: (Already in Comical Tears) I thought we were all bros man!
Oscar: ('Sigh') Look, guys, we didn't mean to abandon you two like that or anything.
Sun: Yeah. We were just scared of get wrapped up into Yang's fury. Sooooo....we bailed. And besides, in all honestly, you guys kinda had that one coming.
Emerald/Neptune: WHAT!?
Oscar: I'm sorry, but I'm with Sun on this one. (Turns to Emerald) Emerald, you flatted out insulted Ruby and Yang's mom in front them and everybody else in the room.
Sun: (Points at Neptune) And you laughed through all of that.
Oscar: Like seriously, Emerald, who would intentionally ask someone what shoes their parents was wearing while they're in a casket!?
Sun: Your laugh sounds like a literally hyena, dude. I'm sorry.
Oscar: And then you went and insult their grandma by saying she doesn't have any knees to pray to Ozpin or do some kind of....Double-Dutch or whatever!
Sun: Like, I've never once, in my entire life, ever heard you laugh like that. Hell, I can even ask Sage and Scarlet about this right now and I can guarantee you that they say the same.
Emerald: Okay, so maybe I did went a little too far on the mom and grandma comeback, but she started the whole thing first with the stupid shoes insult! How else was I supposed to get her back after that!?
Oscar: Make fun of her cape and Crescent Rose instead! I dunno! But what I DO know is that you NEVER disrespect anyone's dead relative! Even if you do wanna use it for a comeback!
Neptune: I didn't mean to laugh out loud like that. I had no idea those Burns would be THAT funny!
Sun: Look, man, I'm all for hearing a well deserved Burns as much as the next guy, but even I know I shouldn't laugh to one that involves something personal.
Oscar: You're already like a sister to me, Emerald, and I know you been through a lot before I met you, but if you really wanna makes amends with Ruby and the others, you can't be doing stuff like this.
Emerald: ('Sighs in Defeat') Yeah..... You're right.....(Turns to Oscar With a bit if a Regretful Look on her Face) I'm sorry, Oscar.....
Oscar: ('Sigh') It's fine, Emerald. I was never mad at you to begin with. But you know I'm not the one who you should be apologizing to, right?
Emerald: (Sighs While Giving Oscar a Simple Nod in Agreement) Yeah....
Sun: (Starts Ruffling the Top of Neptune's Hair) That goes for you too, bro. You need to apologize to Ruby and Yang for laughing like a hyena.
Neptune: ('Sighs in Defeat') I know...... (Glares at Sun) AND I'M NOT HYENA!!!
Emerald: (Gives Neptune a Deadpinned Look on her Face) You so did sound like one.
Neptune: (Immediately Turns to Emerald) WHO'S SIDE ARE YOU ON RIGHT NOW!?
Whitley: Once a hyena, always a hyena I suppose....(Continues Drinking his Expresso)
Neptune: (Turns to Whitley) YOU WANNA FREAKING GO, TWERP!!!?
Oscar chuckles lightly at the whole scene before he felt two hands covering his both his eyes.
????: (Giggles Softly) Guuuuess who!~
Oscar: Oh gee, I dunno~ (Starts Smirking Playfully) Is that you, Ozpin?
????: (Starts Snickering) Yeah, right! Like Oz could ever pull off a cute voice like yours truly.
The person remove two hands from Oscar's eyes, revealing herself to be none other than Ruby Rose while smiling brightly.
Oscar: (Smiles Softly at the Girl) Hey there, stranger. What are you doing out here?
Ruby: (Pouts at Oscar While Hugging Him) Looking for you, dumb-dumb!~ You and Sun had everyone back home worried.
Oscar: Even Nora?
Ruby: Especially Nora. She's already forming a search party for you as we speak.
Oscar: ('Sigh') Oh no....(Gets Himself Up From his Seat) Guess we have get back home then. (Turns to Sun) You're coming with us, Sun?
Sun: (Smiles Relaxingly at the Duo) Nah man. You two kiddos can go on without me. If they ask where I'm at, tell 'em I'm having coffee.
Oscar/Ruby: 'Kay!
Emerald: (Immediately Turns to Ruby) W-Wait! Ruby, about what happened earlier, I-
Ruby: (Immediately Held her Hand Up at Emerald While Giving her a Dark Glare) Not now.
Emerald: (Eyes Widened at the Sudden Glare Before Sighing in Defeat While Looking Down on the Ground in Regret) Right........
Ruby: (Turns Back to Oscar With a Soft Smile While Gently Grabbing his Hand) Let's go, Oscar.
Oscar: Oh! O-Okay. (Waves Goodbye at Everyone While Walking Back Hime With Ruby) See you guys later!
Sun: Later, guys!
Neptune: Bye!!
Sun: (Turns to Emerald) You doing okay, Emerald?
Emerald: (Sighs Once More While Slowly Slouching Down on Oscar's Former Seat) Yeah.... I'm just..... Feeling like I'm back to square one in all of this....
Whitley: It could've worse really.....Yang could've suplexed you and Neptune in front of everyone to see.
Emerald/Sun/Neptune: (Gives Whitley Confused Looks on Each of their Faces) ....................
Whitley: My mother suplexed a man for insulting Weiss during that time we all thought her and the others were dead. (Continues Sipping on his Expresso)

Shackles 12: Protect your own
[part 11]
One thing leads to another. Pain brings grief, joy brings progress, day brings night; Jacquelyn knew simple truths like these, but she had really wished she could get her joy before night came. That didn’t seem to be the case. The tired woman sat on the Belladonna balcony. Her eyes scanned the stars that have kept her company for many years, bringing a sense of ease while her hands clasped a mug of warm tea. Blake’s mother, Kali, walked up from inside the house and poured more.
“Thank you.” Jacquelyn uttered softly. All day Kali hadn’t spoken a word to her. The older woman gave no expression, but her eyes said enough. They were upset, and mulling things over. “I’m-”
“If you’re going to apologize then don’t. There’s nothing you could say on his behalf.”
“Of..of course. I would never. I was going to apologize for myself. I’m…I involved your daughter in this. That one is on me.”
Kali looked over Jacquelyn. It just didn’t make sense to her. The girl before her sat solemnly waiting for a man who’s wracked sorrow to countless lives.
“If I wasn’t for Sun and Ilia, I would’ve denied you being here. I don’t want him near my home. He’s caused enough harm.”
“I understand. Still, I’m grateful. I know this can’t be easy for you.”
Tears of frustration welled up in Kali’s eyes the more Jacquelyn spoke to her. “Did you have a mother growing up?”
“…For a while. I lost her young.”
“I don’t know you, but I can tell she must’ve been caring; the kind of mother that would go to war for you.”
“Hehe, yeah, she was.” A tiny smile crept to her face, thinking back on the remarkable woman. “I owe her a lot in life.”
“A good mother’s only wish in life is to keep their kids safe and happy no matter what. So yeah, this isn’t easy. The thing I love the most in this world, my precious baby girl, you’ve helped invite back the very thing I failed to protect her from. I’m absolutely livid. So don’t tell me you understand. You’re not a mother.”
A lump formed in Jacquelyn’s throat. The little joy she had fizzled out. Kali’s words felt colder than Atlas winds and they had a right to be. However…a click at the door cut through all that.
“We’re home.” Blake said down stairs. Kali quickly ran downstairs. Jacquelyn put down the mug and ran too, but then, she stopped. A loud slurp came from behind her. She turned back around, gasping. Adam sat in her chair with her mug. His face was a bit pale and clothes were replaced with something a bit nostalgic.
“Hey, how you feeling? ” She said, smirking at his attempts to look cool.
“Dehydrated. Also a little stuffy.” He took off his old signature jacket. “Cannot believe this thing was still around. I guess evidence lockers really collect everything.”
“Did you climb up here?”
“Both Ghira, Blake and I all agreed that Kali is the absolute last person who should see me.” He walked towards her.
“Pfft yeah.” Jacquelyn did her best to chuckle but the smile she tried to force turned to a lip quiver while tears came automatically. Adam put her arms around her and she lost it. Her fingers clung to his shirt and wept, not caring who heard.
“Do you enjoy scaring me?”
“What did you think happened to me?”
“I don’t fucking know.” She sniffed, “so many things. I didn’t want to think you decided to up and leave but now I kinda wish that was the case. At least then I could be pissed at you for being an idiot. I held you Adam. You were so cold.”
“You off all people should know how close to death I can get. But I’ll admit it, I thought I was a goner. I’ll tell you about everything later, but first…” Adam let her go and stepped out of view from the balcony doors.
The entire Belladonna family came up stairs. Kali’s eyes were noticeably more red and her hand held Ghira’s. Blake’s eyes were also a bit puffy but much less.
Jacquelyn sighed as she wiped her own eyes. “Have we all been crying today?”
Blake chuckled halfheartedly “Looks like it. You okay?”
“Not really. I need a nap.”
Kali looked at the balcony. “…Adam, sincerity starts with eye contact.”
“Is that what you want from me?”
“No. Frankly I like not seeing you, but it’s rude to let this woman stand alone after waiting.” Kali wasn’t petty. She knew this wasn’t about her.
Adam walked into view slowly and stood beside Jacquelyn. He took Kali’s glare head on. It was actually nice to know one person in this room would definitely not hold back against him. He’s gotten used to that.
Blake looked at Jacquelyn and spoke. “Where’s Ilia and Sun? I thought they would’ve stayed.”
“Those two only stayed for about an hour. Ilia said she had to do something important and Sun tagged along with her. I have no idea where but they took an airship. They said they’d be back by sunrise.”
That was a little concerning. Blake had hoped to have everyone here for this. What in the world could possess them to leave?
“Guess this is everyone for now. Adam, we gotta do something with you. Even if you’re technically dead, things have to be different.”
“Lock me up.” He said bluntly. Everyone jumped a little from the suggestion.
“Lock you up!? Adam I made a case to keep you out of-”
“I wasn’t finished.” He interjected. “There’s already a collection of people here who know I’m alive. Those guards of yours in particular. Loyalty is easy to strain. If you just let me walk then they will resent you. Allowing them to put me behind bars covertly might give you a better chance to negotiate what to do with me later on.”
“Or you’re locked up forever without real protection. You might be at their mercy. I’m not allowing that.”
Jacquelyn nodded. “Neither am I. We didn’t get you out of one situation just to throw you back into the exact same one! Even if they work for Blake, she can’t watch over their every action.”
Ghira rubbed his beard. That was true. It wouldn’t be good for Blake to be visiting jail constantly anyways, still. “It wouldn’t be wise for Adam to go unpunished. I think for people’s peace of mind he must be detained for a while.”
“Dad! But…”
“Saber is a good man. He wouldn’t act out of line on a whim. Besides, I will volunteer personally to check on him daily.”
Kali looked at Blake’s shocked expression. “Sweetie, he is still a criminal.”
“I know, but…this doesn’t solve anything! How do you expect him to prove things are different behind a cell!?” Blake looked at Adam. “How can you be okay with it?”
“I’m not. If I see another pair of shackles again it would be too soon; but the public finding out about me is no short of a death sentence. However, I do have conditions for going along with this.”
Kali’s eyes narrowed. “Are you really in a position to discuss terms?”
“As long as this is a majority, then yes.” That wasn’t gonna score points with her but oh well Atonement or not, Adam refused to be walked all over. “First, Jackie’s home was blown up. I’d like her to stay here until it can be rebuilt. Second, I’d also want Sienna to be put in Jackie's care when she’s out of the hospital.”
Both Kali and Jacquelyn were highly confused. The maiden spoke up. “Ummm Sienna Khan?”
“Hmm? Oh, no. She’s this little girl that escaped the mineshaft with me.”
“White tiger ears? I remember a girl by you in the desert. Why me?”
“Unfortunately she’s not speaking much.” Ghira said. “Adam says you’re pretty good and patient with situations like these. Also, the child seems attached to Adam, so maybe she’ll be comfortable with the person around him.”
“Be careful though. She can get pretty defensive and violent.”
Jacquelyn squinted. “Giving me a way to focus while you’re gone, is that it? Hmph, like I’d say no regardless. Of course I’ll help her if I can.” She folded her arms. Guess she was getting single mother practice early.
“I’m glad. I do have one more condition.” He put his arm over the maiden’s shoulder and pulled her close. “I’ll go to jail, after I help Jacquelyn get through her pregnancy.”
The room went silent. Jacquelyn felt her face get hot and eyes water again. He knew. These terms weren’t for his benefit at all. They were all for her.
Ghira and Kali looked at each other, shocked by this revelation. A twinge of guilt hit Kali for the words she spoke early, but now she understood Jacquelyn’s feelings just a little bit more.
“You would send yourself to jail even knowing her condition?”
“I don’t make money and I don’t see any outcome where me being free makes it easier for Jacquelyn or those two kids. Anybody drawing the connections would be problematic to put it lightly. At least this way I’m not a complete dead beat. So, do we have an agreement?” He asked Ghira.
Blake bit her bottom lip. Right now she needs to look outside herself. She reminded herself of Yang’s parting words. “Slow down. I don’t need things done in a night. Sigh, besides, it’s not like I have a better plan.” Blake looked at her father. “It’s not unreasonable.”
“That’s not exactly the problem. I’d agree but even nine months of him being free is a lot to swallow. We simply don’t have the men to watch him or a place to keep him.”
“Yeah I don’t want him in my home of all places.” Kali added. “Now matter how you look at it, Adam is too dangerous for anyone to look after while he’s free. I can’t go on good faith where there isn’t any.”
“Mom he’s-”
“OH! OH! I’LL WATCH HIM!” Yelled a voice outside, brimming with energy.
A gust of wind blew in from the balcony bringing a glimmer of faith and dozens of rose petals. Blake’s jaw dropped. “Ruby!?”
The full fledged scythe wielding huntress grinned ear to ear. “Yo!” Ruby dashed in and stopped right in front of Blake, giving her a big hug and waving to her parents. “Busy day huh?”
Blake grabbed her leader by the shoulders. This had to be a fever dream. “Ruby, why are you here!?”
The reaper’s face went red as she started chuckling. “Hehe, so funny story…”
xxxx
“Ruby?!” Yang questioned, shouting over the edge of her ship at another ship passing by. Sure enough, her little sister turned around and gasped.
“Yang!? Why are you on a boat leaving Menagerie!?”
“Why are you on a boat docking to Menagerie is a better question!”
“I stopped by your house only to hear from Jaune that you went to see Blake for the first time in forever! You think I was gonna be calm about it? I took the first mission here I could find to have an excuse!”
Yang could not believe what she was hearing. “Rubes…but that..why!? Just why!?”
“You have a bad habit of saying things you don’t mean when you get emotional. If things went south then they might not get better.”
Moments like these made it really hard for Yang to believe she was the older sister; especially when Ruby is absolutely right. “Can you not call me out like that?”
“Why are you leaving? Don’t tell me things went up in flames?”
“N- Well they almost did, but it’s fine! We’re okay; more than okay. I had to cut things short because…I gotta do some stuff. So does she.” Ruby would have a cow if she learned Yang was pregnant. Yang wanted to tell her, but Jaune had to be first. Well…technically second, but first in her heart!”
Ruby could not believe she rushed over to Menagerie for nothing! Well at least her sister looked happy, so things must’ve gone okay. “Well, I’m happy for you! Sigh…I guess I’ll knock out this mission as fast as I can then-”
“Actually, Ruby, can you do your big sis a huge favor?”
xxxx
“And now I’m here.” Ruby rubbed the back of her head in embarrassment. “Would’ve gotten here sooner but a supply mission is a supply mission. I also checked in with Saber, was it? When I explained who I was he gave me a brief and vague update. Since I came here to mediate in the first place and Yang asked so nicely, I thought I’d lend a hand.”
“You were gonna do that favor or no favor.”
Ruby grinned. It was nice to be known so well. “Mr. and Mrs. Belladonna, I’ll watch Adam. That’s the main reason you turned the offer right?”
“Y…Yes but-” Ghira stuttered.
Kali sighed, “Do you really plan on sticking around for nine months?”
“Technically as long as he’s with me and out of sight then I wouldn’t have to stay here specially, but I can understand if you don’t want him too far away. If he’s genuine then having him help rebuild the blown up home should be no problem. I can stay in the house to watch everyone, or I’m happy to rent a place and keep them there. Ilia has a spot out of the way of people. We got options.”
Call her impulsive, but Ruby was persistent. A game changer everywhere she went and she knew it. The girl took a step back to be in the middle of the room. Her hands went on her hips. The next words she spoke were with pure confidence and sincerity.
“If you need good faith then look towards me. I love your daughter like family and I’ve always looked out for people, so believe me when I say this. Adam Taurus has nothing on me. I can take him.” Bold words but she meant them to the letter.
That confidence was felt by everyone. Even Adam felt challenged, though he had no intention of betraying anyone. His first time seeing Blake’s leader and the sister of a person he never thought would save his life, and she was trash talking him. Huh, I guess they really were related. The argument was strong, too strong for Kali and Ghira to deny. Both of them gave a look of uncertainty before nodding.
“I will cut everyone some slack and let them stay in this room tonight as long as you’re here too.” Kali said.
“Yes ma’am. I appreciate it.” Ruby gave a nod as the older woman left.
Ghira gave a smile to Ruby. “I’m glad Blake has family everywhere.” He left after his wife, leaving the rest of them to sort the rest out.
Ruby finger gunned Blake before turning around,
approaching Adam for the first time in her life. He was definitely tall. That’s for sure. “I don’t think we’ve officially met yet.”
“But I’m positive you know everything you need to know about me?”
“Eh, Blake’s not much of a talker. My sister said a few things but they weren’t exactly helpful, just nasty. You’ve done a lot to her, more than you probably know. Still, Yang fights her own battles and I guess recently she won a big one. We’ll only have a fight if you start one, deal?” Ruby extended her hand.
Adam couldn’t get a read on Ruby. She was open, yet guarded. Kinda Jacquelyn. He shook her hand. “Pretty bold to say you can beat someone you never met.”
“Really? I don’t think so. If my friends could do it years ago then me doing it now should be cake. I mean you even look like a ghost right now.” Her eyes shifted to Jacquelyn. “Congratulations by the way.”
“Thanks?” Jacquelyn grabbed Adam’s sleeve. “Can the two of us talk on the balcony in private?”
“Be my guest.” Ruby watched her new assignment get dragged away by….whatever that girl was to him. “So Blake, I know this isn’t the sweetest vis-eep!” A tight hug snuck up on her.
Blake squeezed tightly and let her stress fade
away. “That’s my incredible leader. Always coming to my rescue.”
“Awe, oh sweet hehe. Now I really know you’re stressed.” Ruby hugged back happily.
Outside, things were a little less warm and cozy. The cool breeze against Jacquelyn’s skin did little to cool her off as her hands tugged gently on the front of Adam’s shirt. Her eyes were glued to the floor while she felt his hand on her head.
“For the record, I’m not the biggest fan of all this.”
“Aren’t you the one who’s been preaching about being more than what I was? Salvation and all that?”
“I didn’t say I wasn’t proud.” She lifted her for him to see her pouting. “So you knew I was pregnant all along? Gotta admit, that makes you getting kidnapped willingly and trying to go to jail makes you look really shitty.”
“Jackie-”
“I know I’m twisting your intentions but I can’t help but feel that way okay? I mean it’s fine. I’m just the gal who took pity on you and helped for her own therapeutic needs or salvation; whatever you wanna call it. Sure we slept around from time to time but that’s what happens when you have no one else. We had no labels. Circumstances made us glorified roommates at best. I mean yeah sure, on paper I guess I did what I set out to do. You’re changing.”
“And you’re trying not to cry.” He rubbed her cheek. Jackie wasted no time reaching to hold it in place. “You’ve spent a few years trying to get me to be more direct with myself. Think you can take your own advice right now.”
“……I fucked up. I should’ve just been helping you but I did more than that. I fell for you, and I can’t say with confidence I know how you feel back because we never talked about these things. A situation like this is what I used to imagine but along the line all I thought of was us, always together.”
“So you’re basically asking me what you are to me, is that it?”
“Stupid, right?” Jacquelyn started laughing at her own insecurities until Adam wrapped his arms around her and rested her head on his chest. The sound of his heart filled her senses and calmed her.
“I thought of you every day I was trapped. To tell you the truth, I don’t feel much different from the day you found me. If anything it’s only harder for me to deny how fucked I am.”
“Idiot, that’s a world of difference, and I’m not the only one who sees that.” Jacquelyn gave a soft smile. So much between was unsaid and uncertain, but that's fine for now. He thought of her, fought for her. She did the same. Those actions were worth a billion words. Roughly nine more months of actions before life changed forever. Best to not waste them. Jacquelyn tilted her head up and leaned in, kissing him gently. The joy she waited for was finally hers as he kissed her back.
Two sets of footsteps came back up the stairs. One pair was a very exhausted Ilia and the other was a slightly less tired Sun.
“Ilia! You’re back!” Blake yelled.
“Yeah I-” she spotted the intimacy happening on the balcony. “Hmm didn’t need to see that.”
“Be nice.”
“That’s what I’ve been doing this entire adventure. Also hey Ruby. Couldn’t resist a good drama?”
“As if! I came here to keep things drama free!”
Sun guided Ilia to the couch for her to plop on. Poor girl has been traveling nonstop for at least three days now. He was tired too, but a sudden rush of energy hit him in the form of Blake giving him a running hug and a quick passionate kiss that made him laugh.
“Haha, is that you saying sorry or thank you?”
“It’s me saying you’re amazing and I love you for rolling with this so effortlessly.”
“Oh there’s effort. You’re just worth it.” He smiled, kissing her again. “I’m just happy you’re safe, but you gotta-”
“Slow down. Yeah…I’ve been told.” Blake rested her head on his chest. His heartbeat was steady and strong, like he always is. “Where did you two go?”
Sun looked at Ilia who immediately got up and left to bother the pair on the balcony, grabbing Ruby too. Sun let Blake go. The man let out a faux cough. “So umm this is probably a completely inappropriate time to ask this but…”
Blake saw him reach into his pocket and her face immediately felt like fire. “Wait!” She frantically grabbed his wrist before he could take his hand out. “I know I asked but you could’ve lied!”
“Hey! I was actually trying to get things prepared back in Vacou but people started getting abducted. I know I just talked about you slowing things down and this isn’t the first time we’ve discussed-”
“Yes!” Blake could see the goofy and confused smile Sun was forming. It only flustered her more. “Don’t be surprised. Listen, it was always gonna be a yes. I’m still going to say yes; especially with all that’s happened. Lately it feels like I’ve been putting off things in my life for things I want in my life, but…you are someone I always want. Even if I don’t say it all the time.”
“I know that. It’s okay. Equality is busy work. It is your dream.”
Blake blushed, “So is marrying you. When this situation gets sorted out and dealt with, can you ask me then? You’ve given all your attention through this. I want to give you all of mine when.”
Drat! How could that feel so bittersweet sweet and yet appropriate? Sun knew his face was red too. Blake didn’t reject him by any means but the moment of courage was dashed! Guess that was the point. Typical Blake. Nothing typical about her. Sun let go of the ring in his pocket and chose to hold Blake’s face, staring into her eyes. How could they be so determined one moment and bashful the next. Honestly…
“My future wife is so ridiculous sometimes.”
“I think that’s what my future husband likes about me.” Blake smirked, “I love you.”
The two shared a kiss, taking a moment for themselves.
Ruby smiled from outside and looked at the others. “Okay, I know there’s more of a reason for nabbing me, because that pretty moment was happening no matter how many were around.”
“I brought you out here because the four of us plus Sun are about to keep a secret.” Ilia put her back against the railing, her head looking towards the stars. “Sobek, I handled it.”
Jacquelyn went bug eyed. “What? H-How?”
“Talked to the victims here, Vacou, and Adam briefly. If I would’ve gone in with you all then I might’ve recognized him. He did work in Atlas after all. Anyways it’s dealt with and you don’t have to worry about any of those victims talking. They already wanted to forget the ordeal so adding funds was icing on the cake.” Ilia stared at Adam with soullessness
“I know, you didn’t do it for me.”
“Oh how I wish that were true. Let’s make things clear right now, I’m so pissed at you. If you weren’t injured then I’d throw down right now. Blake never told you this most likely, but near my house I gave you a grave. To me you deserved at least that much; you kept me alive and going for a time. As much as I now hate some of the things I know how to do, I was fortunate you taught me them because those skills help people.”
Adam watched as Ilia took her pointer finger and pressed it against his heart. He could feel her shaking.
“If you ever want my help again then you will keep me in the loop at all times. I was there before and after Blake worked beside us. I had every right to know about you being alive as much as she did.” Ilia would never admit it to anybody but as much as she was crushed when Blake fell for Adam, she couldn’t help but feel angry when both began undervaluing her contribution. Like they say, three is a crowd.
Adam removed Ilia’s finger and nodded. “Hehe, I can accept those rules.”
“What’s so funny huh? Ugh, you really know how to tick a person off.”
“Nothing. Just…everyone is mad at me for something different. Hard to keep track of it all. Guess being a leader was doomed after all. I don’t get any of you. I can’t help but laugh at myself.” He chuckled to himself.
The strange humor of it all caused Jacquelyn to join in quietly while Ilia rolled her eyes and let things be as they were. She said her peace. Ruby though, she couldn’t help but look at the three of them, Adam specifically. There he was, a person recently beaten to near death, laughing at his own past mistakes in a world that didn’t want him.
“Hmmm I don’t get it. What was scary about this guy?”

Lancaster Week Day 1: Shy Jaune
Okay, I’ll admit it started out as an innocent moment. I couldn’t help; it was the moment that anyone else would overlook. Most people would ignore it, but it’s how the thought crept into my head, but it felt wrong to think about it. It wasn’t the right time, right place. If it’s anything, it was the worst time and the worst place. Then again, I was the moron who had feelings for her since Beacon but knew better than to attempt anything. Not with Yang acting like a stone guardian who would kill me if I so much as looked. Gave me that warning to stay from her sister unless I wanted to become paste on the walls.
It was simply the first time that should have been the biggest clue that I would fall harder than then getting between Nora and a pancake breakfast.
We had a test at Beacon everyone else was prepping for the tournament. It almost seems childish-looking back at how focused we were on the tournament when the books and knowing more about the Grimm were a lot more useful as huntsmen and huntresses. But I digress. I’m just trying to think of happier times before I started walking this shoreline. Before things became so bad, I fell into an endless void after failing to run for life after killing a friend and seeing most of my friends fall into an infinite void. I was wondering where the other people of Atlas and mantle fell here too. So much happened in such a short time, so much pain and misery. I just want to think of simpler times when you knew who your allies were. Where my crush began, and I was too much of a shy idiot to say anything about it.
Trying to keep spirits high when everything seems to be getting worse. Considering Penny finally became human only to die brutally. What happened to Maria and Pietro? My heart feels crack at the fact we don’t know what happened to them after what they sacrificed for us to get the message out to the rest of Remanent. All we know is that they fell out of orbit. Were they included in the escape plan out of Atlas, or would they be too far outside of the jurisdiction of Ambrosius?
The moment was simple I was confused about distinguishing marks for tactics on older Grimm, thinking that Grimm can be born with bone plating. My thoughts were that Grimm can be born a tough customer. I had it written in my notes and everything, and we were studying in silence, only saying a few words to each other. If it had been anyone, I might have felt nervous or awkward sitting in silence while my brain melted under stress. But around Ruby, I felt comfortable; that should have been my first clue, but I will admit blind to my own feelings.
“Jaune,” she patted my shoulder. It wasn’t a condescending pat but sympathetic with kindness in her eyes.
“Jaune? That’s the wrong information. You must have misheard Professor Port about that.” Ruby said softly in only the two of us would hear and wouldn’t alert the rest of the library.
“What?” He was confused until he noticed her looking at his notes. The confusion must have been evident on my face.
“Newborn Grimm is born without bone plating or any natural defenses from the average huntress or hunter; the average person with the most basic of combat training could kill a newborn Grimm. That’s developed over time from devouring people. We aren’t sure why, but it’s speculated and assumed it’s because people have an aura, and whatever Grimm is born with a lack it, and when eating people, it gains more strength to fight for longer.
It was that moment I had felt fluttering before a felt flush but ignored it. All the late time chats, the time we sparred during free time. It was kind of hard not to love Ruby. Admiring her and really enjoying her company was something as easy as breathing for me. Reminding myself repeatedly that she was my friend that liking her would ruin things if I ever tried it, but it was clear to Ruby that was like me being a huntress was all she cared about. Helping others take out Grimm was her main drive. Anything else was not worth her notice. When guys were asking her out to the dance back then, she was confused. She walked past them, not really getting what they were asking. I even thought about what would happen if I actively asked her out, only to get that cold, confused look and then die at Yang’s hands. It wasn’t like asking out Weiss, which I did more out of testing the waters and trying to get over my crush where I already know what the end result will be. Ruby was and always will be a lot different in my heart when it comes to my feelings and my emotions and my thoughts while some things, I have an easier time talking about when it comes to my feelings towards her, I feel tongue tide and actually nervous about what I want to say to her.
She was and is, even after all these years, pretty oblivious unintentionally. So, leaving any ambiguity would be a disaster. She still is unaware if someone was attracted to her or not, or she was... My heart stutters at the idea that she was dead and not knowing if they were in the same place.
His mind went every time he refused to acknowledge how he felt because it was inconvenient or didn't feel like he deserved it. When she smiled and felt the flutter but would stamp them down hard, you could almost hear the butterflies cry in agony at what I was doing. that didn’t make traveling with her across Anima any easier. Still, I was grieving my team member, and I still am in many ways. I barely knew her, and because I know that the reason she died was because of a power-hungry bitch who still hasn’t paid for what she’s done and keeps doing, so any thought of romance was not even in the forefront, much less the feelings I long since buried not when I had to be aware of any Grimm or any missions, we took from the town they took on the way to Mistral.
I have to hope most of team RWBY was down here, wherever here actually was. While we discussed the plan endlessly about how the warping would work, connecting Atlas and Vacuo seamlessly, I was with her when she made the explanation, so there no telling where we were exactly or if there were multiple places we could have fallen into. Or they might have fallen into some other sub-dimension of the gods. As well as a lot of the civilians that cinder jettisoned purposely when she landed on the bridge. The ones we couldn’t save. Even if I’m trapped wherever this is? At least the rest of my team and winter made it to safety. They aren’t stuck in some other dimension. They are safely in Vacuo, hopefully, able to contact the local government.
The only hopeful thought he had as he noticed the island, he was just oddly still, which put him on edge more than he was willing to admit making him glad that he at least had weapons with him what con possible be in this dimension who knows and if and how they would get back was another question altogether. If they were even here and he wasn’t trapped all alone.
Crescent Rose was sticking out of the sands, and I could hear a groan.
“Ruby?”
“Wait? Jaune? Jaune! Is that you?! What how?” Ruby sounded tired, worn out, considering she hadn’t slept since we found Salem was on her way; that makes more sense, I care to admit, especially since I was pretty sure I hadn’t slept in just as long.
“I couldn’t make it out of the warp before something turned it off. It closed right in front of me. but I can at least say winter and the rest of the time go out.”
At that moment, they held each other; they knew that they might be the only ones. Jaune had no clue where they were precisely, only this was a place similar to where artifacts had been hidden, a space between spaces. And the fact there is two suns in the sky, and the unnatural stillness made everything more terrifying, knowing that we were entirely out of our depth this time and there was nothing and no one we could rely on. and whether we could get back to remnant might not be possible unless winter works on figuring out how to open a portal wherever we are as more insane and impossible as that is. And will be if she even attempts it. Things are bad things are unsure, but I’ll tell her when I’m ready and not a moment before I’ve been tiptoeing about this for a long time. But right at this moment, right now is not the best time to put my heart on my sleeve and admit how much knowing that she was in my arms is the only place I’d rather be.
“R-r-Ruby,” he couldn’t help but stutter.
“I’m glad I at least found you in this mess.” his face was red; most of his guards were down, and he knew it. Before, he could compartmentalize his friendship and his feeling but not here now. Gripping her tighter in a hug giving her a chaste kiss on the cheek, taking the chance more than grateful to know that she was alive.
She gasped and held him tighter, her lips grazing ears whether it was an accident or on purpose didn’t matter. She was just above tears, and he would be reduced to the same soon enough. But at least I found Ruby.
When we find the others because I know we will, I will tell her how I feel no matter if she doesn’t feel the same about me. I’ve wasted too much time pretending like I don’t have feelings for her.

Confession Fails
[WR, Fluff, 1.5k words, Pre-the crappy events of V3]
Tumblr media
It was evening back at Beacon Academy. Ruby and Weiss have returned to their dorms after a long day of spending quality time with each other. They'd gone to different stores that sold sweets and brought back several bags with them, which was weird because Weiss had never really been fond of them, though she was the one who insisted to go there in the first place.
She had also brought Ruby to the library, where they mostly rambled about their favorite pieces of literature to each other. Most of the time, Ruby's eyes had been brimming with eagerness while making all these explosion and crashing sound effects, excitedly telling the story of how the "wicked cool" protagonist slayed monsters left and right. Weiss would listen to every word that left the girl's mouth, and when it was her turn to speak, she would notice that Ruby had her eyes and ears focused on her as she eagerly waited for the next part of her story. Several hours had passed while they sat there, just enjoying each other’s company. Sometimes Ruby would tug on her sleeve and squeal about another chapter she'd just read, but it was peaceful and relaxing in its own way, for Weiss at least. She could easily spend hours and hours on end in the library with Ruby, but they'd noticed it was getting late. And so, they were back in their dorms. Surprisingly, Blake and Yang were nowhere to be seen, probably doing their own thing. They had teased Weiss about sneaking into the closet to record her confession, but it seemed they had given up on the silly idea, knowing that it would eternally embarrass Weiss. And with their decision, Weiss was grateful for all the deities and gods up above. The entire day, her hands were cold, sweaty, and in general, just outright gross. She had never been this nervous during a battle or a presentation before, but for some reason, the thought of telling Ruby how she felt... it was too much for the poor girl. Weiss Schnee, the future heiress of the Schnee Dust Company, the smartest girl in class, the epitome of beauty and perfection! Was it too late to back out? Would it be alright to try again another day? Maybe she needed more time to compose herself. She looked in the mirror and saw her face already red and about to cry. Yeah. She definitely needed more time. She needed to plan things out. She needed to rewrite and polish her 20-page confession script.  She needed to- "Weiss?" All the little hairs on her arms stuck out, and she froze in her place. "YES?" "Woah, uh, are you doing alright?" Ruby asked while eyeing her down. "You've been acting weird ever since we got back." "No- I mean, yes. I'm fine. Maybe. I think? Is it hot in here? I think we need to open the windows. Yeah, we should totally open the windows." Stammering while mentally telling herself to shut up, Weiss quickly walked past Ruby, but before she could make her way to the windows, Ruby grabbed her hand, causing her to almost slip. Not until Ruby caught her in her arms. "What was that for?!" Weiss peeled herself away from Ruby and stepped back, turning into an even darker shade of red. "I'm sorry, but you were worrying me again!" Ruby sighed out. "So, tell me, what's wrong?" Almost instantly, Weiss' cheeks were in flames as she stared at the floor, unable to look into her partner's eyes. She opened her mouth to speak, but for the first time ever, she had no idea what to say. What was wrong? Her. She was making things more complicated than they actually were. She was over-analyzing every single detail as if it were some kind of exam. She needed to prepare, plan, and cut everything down to absolute precision. Like always, her perfectionist side was taking over once again. That's just who Weiss Schnee was. She glanced at Ruby, concern evident in her silver eyes. Her hand was already outstretched, but some sort of barrier was keeping her from reaching out to Weiss. And Weiss couldn't blame her for that. She'd never acted or felt like that before, so it was no wonder Ruby was confused. It was no wonder Ruby didn't know what to do. But Weiss did. Without even thinking of what could possibly go wrong or worrying about anything else, she grasped Ruby's hand with hers, and they fit perfectly together. It felt good. It felt... right. Tightening her grip, Ruby stepped closer as her voice lowered to a whisper. "Look, I don't know what's going on, but I'm here to listen. You can tell me anything. You know that, right?" Weiss couldn't help but roll her eyes as her lips formed a small smile. This girl... She always knew just what to say to make things better. That was one of Weiss' favorite things about her. The entire world could fall apart, and she'd find herself staring into Ruby's eyes, just holding her hand. This girl in front of her was always ready to listen and be there for her, not only as a leader, but as a friend – a partner. And that was exactly what Weiss adored about her. Finally giving in, she exhaled slowly. "Ruby Rose." "...Weiss Schnee?" At the sound of her name being spoken so softly and innocently, she felt a tug in her heart. In an instant, her resolve was shattered. Heat rose up to her cheeks and very nearly caused steam to come out of her ears. "Don't say my name like that!" "Wha- uh, okay? I'm sorry?" Ruby blinked in confusion. Quickly, Weiss closed her eyes and made several attempts to steady her breathing, still holding on to Ruby's hand. "Take your time." "RUBY! I can't focus!" She groaned out. This? Was a disaster. Just a few seconds ago, she actually felt like she could do it. Then she got thrown out of her rhythm again. One second, she could be calm and collected as she usually was, then the next, her heart could be leaping and beating right out of her chest. Whenever she was with this girl, her emotions were all over the place, but in a good way, not that she’d ever bring herself to admit that. Honestly, this girl had no idea how much she was driving her insane with her stupid adorable voice... and her stupid goofy smile... and her sickeningly sweet personality. Nevertheless, she decided to give it another try. Because she had to. Another exhale, and off she went. "Ruby, I... For the longest time now, I've-" She bit her tongue. Instantly, she covered her mouth and blinked away the tears, stomping on the wooden floors all the while. Ow, ow, ow, oww- That wasn't even the worst part. The worst part was the LOOK on Ruby's face. This girl was just lost at this point. Yup. She was never going to forget this. Weiss Schnee. Stumbling over her words, face red and just about ready to explode. Ruby was never gonna let her live this down. Ever. She was going to make fun of her and tease her and- Weiss felt a pair of soft lips press ever so gently against her cheek. Her heart stopped. "Don't need words to say 'I love you,' right?" Ruby whispered. "It's okay, I think I got the hint... dolt." That! That was HER line! "You...! You just-!" Ruby winked. "YOU'RE IMPOSSIBLE!" Weiss abruptly let go of her hand to cover her face. "I knoooow," Ruby cooed. "I was waiting for you to spit it out, but then I felt bad for teasing you, sooo." She reached out to pull Weiss for a hug. Surprisingly, she didn't pull away, and instead, buried her face on Ruby's shoulder. Carefully, Ruby rubbed her back in attempts to soothe her and hopefully get her to relax. And it was working! Weiss managed to open her eyes and return the hug, despite being nearly embarrassed to death. "Feeling better now?" "No thanks to you, dunce." Ruby chuckled. "I'm not sorry." "Of course you're not." Weiss let out a heavy sigh and rolled her eyes. This was nice. This wasn't how she planned or imagined it. In fact, this was far from it, but she was still glad. She was happily wrapped in a warm hug with her partner's arms. No doubt, she wouldn’t mind staying like this for a long ti- Achoo! ...what. Did she just hear someone sneeze? It wasn't her or Ruby. But they were the only ones in the dorm... unless- "CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEW COUPLE!" With guns blazing, Yang Xiao Long walked out of the bathroom to congratulate them like they'd just won the lottery. Although both were caught off guard by the surprise entrance, Ruby seemed to be happy to see her sister. "Yang!" "Ruby!" "YANG!" "Yes, Ice Queen?" Furious. Weiss was furious. Of course Yang decided to hide in the bathroom. She was lucky it was just Yang or else she would've- Weiss heard heels clacking from the bathroom. "Give her a break, she's been through an exhausting day." Blake stepped out of the shadows and stood next to Yang. "Nice job you did there." With a blank face, Weiss stared at her teammates. All this time... they were there. Just listening to her being an utter mess. Probably laughing and most certainly recording. Ruby noticed Weiss' silence and looked over her shoulder to check on her. "Hey, are you doing alright?" "Un..." Weiss said in an almost inaudible voice. "Un?" "UNFORGIVABLE!" And just like that, the sounds of glass shattering and furniture getting tossed around echoed throughout the halls  – the sounds of chaos which team JNPR and the rest of the other teams grew familiar with especially when team RWBY was around. Nevertheless, it was a peaceful night. Just not for Weiss.

Monochrome, 6, 13 for the Fanfiction Trope MASH-UP, please?
(6) Bookshop AU  + (13) Detective AU
(there’s no way I can write this whole thing into a fic, so here it is)
For this, I’d do an au where Weiss runs a bookshop.  Technically, it’s her shop.  She runs it, does the day to day, has pretty much unimpeded control over it, but its still owned by the massive Schnee Books chain of stores.
Weiss has a constant conflict like her canon one, where she wants to be defined by her own merits, as well as have those be what define her family name’s legacy, but she also knows she can’t really go against her father without risking her shop.
Next door, much to Weiss’s chagrin, is Xiao Long Martial Arts.  The lessons they give, especially the ones where there’s a lot of kids, can be heard through the bookstore walls at the most active times of the day.  Not only that, but Ruby Rose, youngest daughter of the martial arts studio owner, often comes into the bookstore to loiter in the mechanics/engineering section.
(Ruby basically just treats Weiss’s bookstore as a personal library.  She doesn’t have enough lien to buy all the books she wants (especially the ones about the most recent technical advancements that are all still first edition hard-bounds), so Ruby has picked out her favorite armchair, will go in, grab all the books she wants to know stuff from, and set up reading and taking notes there for hours.  The first couple times, Weiss kicked her out, but then she kinda began enjoying Ruby’s company (plus she liked the idea of having a ‘regular’ at the store), so she lets her stay.
Blake is a private detective, who works almost entirely on cases pertaining to the Faunus community.  She doesn’t like Schnee Books (due to their shady labor practices), but Weiss’s shop is the only place to pick up the widest range of books she may need as a resources for a case, so she considers them a necessary evil she begrudgingly goes to from time to time.
During a couple of her visits, Blake struck up conversation with Ruby over what Ruby’s reading, and they’ve become friendly.
(For the record, Weiss has a huge crush on Blake that she denies exists, but also recognizes that Ruby keeps Blake in the store longer, so that’s yet another reason she allows Ruby to stay).
Anyways, one day, a well-known inventor’s daughter, Penny Polendina, goes missing under suspicious circumstances.  Ruby is close with Penny, and practically begs Blake’s assistance.  It’s outside Blake’s usual wheelhouse, but she takes the case anyway.
During the investigation, which continues to spiral into something extremely big, Ruby and Blake end up getting arrested for trespassing where they shouldn’t and Ruby uses their one phone call to call Weiss (cause she definitely doesn’t want her father or sister to come bail her out and lecture her).
Weiss proceeds to lecture the both of them for putting themselves at risk, do they know how much they made her worry?!!!  Blake is surprised she cares, and Weiss retorts of course she cares.  Weiss then demands to be made part of the team, because she has connections and can get them into places through proper channels, if they had just asked.
Somewhere along the lines, Yang finds out what her sister’s been tangled up into and also demands to join the team as their bodyguard/protector.
Anyways, over the course of the investigation, Weiss and Blake begin to know each other better, become close friends, etc.  They learn Weiss’s father has been funding some unethical military operations and, in the process of rescuing Penny from where she’s been kidnapped, also manage to take Jacques down.
Weiss takes control of Schnee Books, and hires Blake on as a consultant to helping reform the company’s labor practices (so basically they end up working closely to reinvent one of the biggest employer companies to actually be good for their workers).

Who were the Schnee’s meant to be?
Tumblr media
So with V7 having drawn to a close, I wanted to try and sort out my thoughts on how the Schnee’s that we know in the show today, might not be the one’s that Monty had originally intended to make.
This is not meant to be a dig at CRWBY or to say that CRWBY are mangling Monty’s vision. Monty was constantly introducing different ideas to RWBY (like the Maidens) so it is entirely possible that the Schnee’s we got are one’s he would have ended up making, it’s impossible to say for certain.
But looking over V1-2, some behind the scene information involving Monty, and later volumes, you begin to see evidence of where things appeared to have been... reshuffled.
The Winter Issue
Tumblr media
Most of the ‘changes’ that occured in the Schnee family can be traced to a single character; Winter Schnee, as what we are presented about her character and her relationship with Weiss in the first two volumes is wildly different than V3 and onwards.
In V1/2, what Weiss mentions about her home life is vague and she generally tries to avoid that subject due to unhappy memories. In V1, after seeing how serious about leading Ruby is, Weiss brings up how she wanted to have bunk beds as a child, but what’s interesting is the sad look she gets before telling Ruby this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While one could say that Weiss and Winter weren’t able to have bunk beds due to Winter being much older than Weiss, however, I think it might be less due to an age difference and more just due to a more distant relationship between the two sisters, a relationship that Weiss wished was more sisterly.
The reason I think it is due to Weiss and Winter being distant is due to one of the best scenes in V2, and arguably the entire show.
Tumblr media
This scene in V2, and the follow up, show us Weiss’ entire relationship with her family members involved in the SDC; she’s nervous, she’s scared, she has to fake happiness and put on a face to interact with them.
Tumblr media
Seconds before the line goes through, you get to see how awful the prospect of interacting with her family is for her.
And here is where thing’s get interesting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why would Winter be at an SDC building alongside her father? And as Weiss specified, it isn’t any random SDC building but
Tumblr media
The main headquarters of the entire SDC.
Given what we know about canon Winter, she actively despises her father and arguably the entire Schnee family outside of Weiss given how distant she keeps herself and buries herself in the military. Given how close she is to Ironwood and how aware he is of her volatile relationship with her family, he most likely wouldn’t be having her do missions with the SDC, which I’m not sure what Ironwood would even need done at the SDC headquarters back in Atlas at the time of V2. On top of that the way that the secretary mentions Winter seems to imply that she works there.
The other interesting aspect of this scene, is Weiss’ face after getting the information she needed from the SDC and refused to talk with her family.
Tumblr media
She looks miserable. Just as miserable as when she was mentally preparing herself for the possibility of talking to them.
The reason I find this so interesting, is how Weiss in V3+ is the complete opposite when it comes to Winter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She’s excited, the mere sight of Winter’s ship sends her running from the arena and across Beacon’s campus.
And it’s here we learn Winter is part of the military, and can infer that she’s the one who trained Weiss prior to her leaving for Beacon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So why does Winter being different matter?
This change in the relationship between Weiss and Winter is the reason why I think Whitley even exists as a character, and why Willow is an alcoholic.
Did you notice that throughout the first 3 volumes, when discussions about her family, Weiss never mentions having another sibling? A sibling who would be of a similar age to her and would be able to share a bunk bed with her?
Unless of course, said sibling was close to their father, and was rather cold and distant with Weiss.
Tumblr media
I remember that there was a lot of confusion back when V4 first aired at who Whitley was; everyone was confused that Weiss had this other sibling who she had never mentioned before.
As we have seen, Whitley has a closer relationship with his father than he does with the rest of the Schnee family, and is more involved in the actual business aspects of the SDC than his siblings. Hmmm. Now that seems to line up a bit with what the implication for Winter was in V2.
Tumblr media
And as we can see, Weiss isn’t as friendly with Whitley as she would be with Winter; she doesn't enjoy talking with him or being around him.
Now the next source should be taken with a grain of salt given who it is from, but in Shane’s letter, he mentions and covers a lot of things that were changed from the original script for V3 that Monty had done (Jaune seeing Pyrrha die, Yang fighting Adam before losing her arm, etc), and what CRWBY made.
Tumblr media
V3 had begun pre-production in 2013, shortly after V1 finished airing. And the main thing to take away from that part of the letter is that the Winter that Monty had originally created, was changed. Whether it was just her design or her character as a whole is left unclear but, I do believe that this change in Winter’s character lines up with the change in Weiss’ behavior in relation to Winter, and why Whitley was not mentioned until V4. If this original version of Winter was meant to be a Whitley like character, a sibling that is groomed by their father and hostile toward Weiss, then when they changed Winter to being a military woman, they needed to create a new sibling to still fulfill that character role in Weiss’ story.
How does this affect Willow?
Tumblr media
From Pyrrha’s voice actor, we know that a lot of story elements, like the Fall of Beacon and Pyrrha’s death were moved from V2 to V3, and that Monty was working on V3 content while V2 was airing. We know Monty was working on content for V3 due to his tweets in 2014, sharing character files that were on his computer.
Tumblr media
Do you see it? The names listed?
Tumblr media
Willow Schnee, and Winter Schnee.
It’s through this list of character files that we were able to learn Willow’s name prior to V7 and also how we learned Taiyang’s name prior to V3. Monty is very much a ‘pants’ style of creator, he makes things up as he goes along and tosses things in because he thought it would be cool, just look at Neo or CFVY. The entire reason that M&K were brought into to the show and help him with the writing was due to him needing people to help him with getting the plot to each of its major plot points, as he (like most content creators) just had the major plot points thought out.
Which is why I find the inclusion of Willow on the list of character files that were being worked on for V3 and shown during V2 to be interesting. Why would Willow be on that list of characters meant to show up soon or are in the current volume if Willow would be a minor character who wouldn’t appear until near the mid- to end of the show? And if Whitley is meant to be Weiss’ rival for control of the SDC as the show seems to be setting him up to be, then why is he nowhere to be found on that list of character files?
Winter in canon for the most part took over the maternalistic role in Weiss’ life after Willow fell into depression and started drinking. It can be assumed that she is the one who trained Weiss in her glyphs, swordplay, and attempted to do so with summoning, as shown in the V5 character short.
Tumblr media
Winter helped train Weiss so she would be strong enough to leave home.
But if Winter was originally meant to be a rival to Weiss and have a strained relationship with her, then who would have been the one to have trained Weiss in her semblance and weapon?
Tumblr media
If my theory is correct, I believe Willow was meant to have taken the role Winter had in V3, to have visited Weiss for a bit and help teach her summoning like she had done so with her glyphs and swordplay. That Willow was originally meant to have been a mentor figure for Weiss, instead of being uninvolved in her life.
But why change Winter so much?
Now this is something I do not have an answer for as I don’t work for RT, and honestly this all entirely speculation on my part just based off bits of behind the scenes info that we’ve been given and what I’ve noticed during my own watchings of the show. If I am correct and Winter’s character was changed and took the role Willow was meant to have and her own character was given to Whitley, that is indeed a pretty drastic change, and from an outside perspective seems like it’d be creating a lot more work for a writer instead of having the more simplified version that Monty had (if I’m correct).
And the only answer I can think of, is from this scene.
Tumblr media
While it might sound nice to have Weiss be trained by her mother, and her sister be her rival for control of their family company due to them being their father’s favorite and Weiss being abused by him, it does create the question of “If Willow is so skilled at Huntsmen things, why doesn’t she defend her children, or simply get a divorce?”
And I think it’s due to that question, of how to keep Weiss being abused by her father and it playing out realistically, that led to the decision to have Winter’s character cut out and made into new character, and for Willow’s role to be grafted onto this new Winter, and the remnants of Willow being turned into a neglectful alcoholic to add more drama to Weiss’ life and make her difficult childhood even harder.
I didn’t know Monty on a personal level nor will I claim to know how his mind worked, but I do believe based off the evidence I provided that the Schnee family that we have in canon are different than what Monty might have originally envisioned and was working towards in V1/2. And that’s not to say it’s a bad thing if I am correct about these changes, as the Schnee’s are arguably the best part about RWBY and the intense family drama is something that draws a lot of people into the show.

Tumblr media
So the hiatus has finally gotten to me. I started thinking; “What if this show was happy and everyone lived?” So then of course I had to design the characters children and think about their personalities and here we are. I present Team IDRS (Fire), Iggy, Dev, Ry, & Bia.
Name: Ignis (Iggy) Nikos-Arc
Name Meaning: Fire
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Species: Human
Parents: Pyrrha Nikos & Jaune Arc
Siblings: Brother - Augustus (Auggie) Nikos-Arc - Age 14
               Sister - Melina Nikos-Arc - Age 13
               Brother -  Mars Nikos-Arc - Age 13
Semblance: Pyro-Touch - Iggy can set fire to anything she touches. The more arua she has, the larger the flame. Should her aura run out, the fire goes out.
Aura Color: Red
Personality: Iggy is kind and warm hearted to the core. Like Pyrrha, she knew being a huntress was her destiny. She always puts other needs before her own, which is why she’s such a strong leader. She can be a bit clumsy, but somehow still has great hand eye coordination. She is dependable and hardworking, and is always quick to support her friends. She trains extremely hard, and is of course the best in her class after being trained by her mother. Iggy mostly pretends like she knows what she’s doing, especially because she is held to high standards. However, her friends and her team have her back and love her unconditionally, and she is able to show her true goofy self when she is with them.
Name: Devorah (Dev) Belladonna
Name Meaning: Bumblebee
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Species: Cat Faunus
Parents: Blake Belladonna & Yang Xiao Long
Siblings: Brother - Sol Xiao-Long - Age 13
               Brother - Nox Xiao-Long - Age 13
Semblance: Explosive-Shadow - Dev can leave a shadow in her place that will explode on command.
Aura Color: Lilac
Personality: Dev is kinda quiet when you first meet her, but her tongue is sharper than her knives. When anyone goes against her friends, Dev is the first to defend them. She is kind and caring, but likes to show it in little ways. She won’t openly show affection for those she cares about, but she gives plenty of hugs in private. Don’t mess with her though, because she will protect those she cares about with her life. She is very sarcastic and witty, but is also always quick to make a pun when possible. Dev may be quiet, but she is also very confident. She is passionate about faunus rights and will fight for them. Just as she is protective of her team, her team always has her back. She loves her team like family and she trusts them with everything.
Name: Ryleigh (Ry) Sustrai-Amitola
Name Meaning: Red
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Species: Chameleon Faunus
Parents: Emerald Sustrai & Ilia Amitola
Sibling(s): None
Semblance: Disappear - Ryleigh can fool her opponents into thinking she disappeared by making herself invisible to them. She doesn’t have to change color, she uses hallucinations to do it.
Aura Color: Maroon
Personality: Ryleigh is fierce and defencive. She’s had to be her entire life, as her mother, Emerald, worked for Salem. Even though Emerald betrayed Salem and was openly on the side of good, Ry is still seen in her shadow. She’s been bullied from a young age, and sometimes she just gets angry. However, being around those who are kind to her has opened up her soft side. She’s still fierce, but only when she’s protecting her friends. She is passionate about Faunus rights and enjoys working closely with Dev to fight for them. Dev is probably closest to Ry since they've known each other all their lives, but Iggy showed nothing but kindness to Ry and they soon became friends. It tooks a while for Bia to trust Ry, she eventually learned to care for her as a teammate and close friend.
Name: Bianca Rose-Schnee
Name Meaning: White
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Species: Human
Parents: Ruby Rose & Weiss Schnee
Sibling(s): Sister - Summer Rose-Schnee (13)
Semblance: Speed Glyphs + Summoning - Bianca can create glyphs to run through that allow her to gain speed when attacking her opponent. Summoning also came very quickly to her, and she considers it her most powerful assest besides her brain.
Aura Color: White
Personality: Bianca is smart and driven. She knows her mothers were key assets in taking down Salem many years ago, and she is determined to be as recognised as they were for being huntresses. This can make her a little egotistical at times and a bit arrogant, but she’s become better at recognising her flaws and works to change her cold outward demeanor to a kinder one. She is a very hard worker, both in school and on the battlefield, but she isn’t selfish about it. Whenever one of her friends needs help studying or if someone needs a sparring partner, Bia is the first to volunteer. With her mother Weiss running a third of the Schnee Dust Company with her other siblings, Bia became quite the analist. She can predict things before they happen simply with the data around her, which is helpful when in a fight. However, Bia can be extremely blunt, and usually ends up figuring things out and saying them immediately, which can be sometimes annoying. Her other mother, Ruby, taught her to be fun and playful - and she became a prank wizard. Even though Bia comes off somewhat cold, on the inside she is a softy who loves her team, her friends, her sister, her dog, and yes, chocolate chip cookies. To get to that, you just gotta break the ice. ;)

The Final Song, For an Earth Angel
Fair Game Week 2020: Day 6 - Atlas Ball / Mantle Battle
Read it on AO3 here.
The night of the dance, Clover made sure not even a hair was out of place. He also mentally prepared himself for what would transpire. He had no doubt that Qrow would accept his love and the dance now, he just needed to prepare himself. It was a major thing he was doing. After checking his hair one last time, he made his way to the ballroom. Clover was guarding the punch bowl as Qrow arrived with the kids, Ruby eagerly dragging him along. Clover admired the man as he walked in. He was standing tall now, as opposed to the hunched over posture he would hold when he first arrived. And of course, he looked as stunning as ever. Hot, great with kids, amazing personality, and literally one of the best huntsmen to have ever lived. He was the whole package. How could Clover not fall in love with him? Qrow then split from the kids as they went do their own things, and made his way over to Clover.
“Hey there hot stuff.” Clover winked. He poured himself another cup of the punch and took a drink. It tasted all right, but as to be expected of a school dance planned on such short notice.
“You’re pretty easy on the eyes yourself Lucky Charm.” Clover chuckled.
“Drink?” He asked, offering him a cup.
“No thanks. That stuff is almost always spiked.”
“I’ve been watching it all night.” Clover enticed. Qrow kindly too up the offering, which pleased Clover. Before taking a drink, Qrow took a sniff of it.
“Yup. Spiked.” Clover stopped mid drink, swallowing what was in his mouth with an audible gulp.
“Fuck.”
“Maybe later.” Qrow winked. This man is going to be the death of me. Clover thought as a blush spread across his face. “If you want, I’ll let Jimmy know what happened while you replace that.”
“Sure.” Clover mustered as Qrow went to find the General, keeping his eyes on him until he disappeared into the crowd. With no Qrow to ogle at, he went to take care of the punch. On his way to dump it, he wondered how the punch could have possibly been spiked. He knew he kept his eyes on it like a hawk, so he tried to think of any moments he took his eyes off it. Then it hit him that the only time he did long enough for someone to slip in some alcohol was when his eyes were on Qrow. He knew that he only had himself to blame, but then again, it caused Qrow to flirt with him so overtly. It was another sign that Qrow liked him back, he just had to make the move. Walking more quickly. He searched for punch to refill the bowl, but found none and instead replaced it with water. If it came down to it, it would be easier to tell if it was spiked. After a whole half hour of that, he reentered the ballroom. He saw Ren and Winter chatting where he was stationed.
“Good. You’re here.” Ren said.
“General Ironwood instructed me to switch stations with you. Apparently, the students find me too intimidating. Someone like you is better off than me on the dance floor.” Ren motioned for Clover to follow him.
“Alright...” he said suspiciously, wondering what Ren was planning.
“And remember to blend in!” She shouted as they merged into the crowd. Apparently, they were going deep into the crowd where Qrow and the rest of the kids were. He was just finishing a fun little dance with Ruby before joining Yang and Blake, mostly just to embarrass Yang. As soon as she noticed Clover, she mentioned it to her uncle, thankful for the Ace Ops’ appearance.
“Hey there Lucky Charm. Ready to show these kids how it’s done?”
“Only if I can get the last dance.”
“I think that can be arranged. But until then,” Qrow pulled him into the fray, almost causing him to trip, “let’s have a good time with everyone!” They first danced with each other, a spectacular, if just a tad too vulgar for the setting, display of their bond as they moved in sync with each other. Soon, they took turns dancing with each of the kids, having fun, and laughing at little jokes and minor missteps here and there. Clover was getting tired, and went find a seat so he could take a small break. The dancing took a lot of energy, but it was undeniably worth every second. As he watched Qrow and Nora share an energetic dance, Ren took a seat next to him.
“On my way down here, Weiss told me she saw an empty balcony two floors up. It should be about right above us.”
“Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind.” After a moment of comfortable silence between each other, Ren spoke up again.
“You know, we all care about you too, not just our Uncle Qrow.” It caught Clover off guard. He wasn’t expecting this talk so soon, especially at a dance.
“That… means a lot to me. Thanks.” He could not fully convey how much it did mean to him. They sat there, watching the love of their life dance and have fun, knowing that the final song was next. He felt content. As the song stopped, Ren got up.
“See you later, Uncle Clover.” Did I hear that right? Clover could only stare in disbelief as he walked away. He almost didn’t notice Qrow as he sat next to them.
“Having fun hot stuff?” Now that he was closer, Qrow noticed that Clover did look really hot, in both senses of the word. Some of the gel in his hair was undone in the chaos of dancing, leaving some strands out of place.
“With you? Always.”
“It’s kinda hot in here, don’t you think?” Qrow asked as he tugged on his collar.
“I know a place where we can cool off, if you want. It’ll still be hot with you there, but I think we can manage.”
“Lead the way Boy Scout.” Qrow said as he stood up. “I’ll be riiight behind you.” Qrow had to hand it to Atlas. They sure knew how to design a good uniform. They continued chatting and laughing as they always did. Once they reached the decently sized balcony after a short walk, Qrow filled him in on what he missed while he was taking care of the punch. They could hear the sounds of the party as they droned on below them. The thing that made Qrow laugh the most was when he told Clover that Yang had tripped right into Blake. He was laughing so hard as he leaned against the railing that he could barely tell what happened. It was endearing. So much so, that he wanted to tell Qrow that he loved him right then and there, but he didn’t. He wanted the moment to be as perfect as could be. However, his laughing fit and Clover’s vehement admiration was interrupted by an announcement.
“If I can have your attention please,” spoke Ironwood. “the final song is about to commence, so grab a partner, and proceed to the dance floor.” That was Clover’s que.
“May I have this dance?” He asked Qrow with a bow, a hand extended out for him to hold.
“Lucky for you,” Qrow began as he took his hand, “I’ve been waiting all night for a certain lucky guy to ask me.” Hand in hand, the final song began. They both gazed into each other’s eyes, the light of a shattered moon making them sparkle.
“You look stunning, as always.” Clover complimented.
“On most days, I chalk it up to luck.” he joked. The slow song dictated their simple, but intimate movements.
“And today?”
“Really lucky.” The both chuckled. They continued their dance in content silence, slowly inching closer and closer. “You know, I love you Clover.” Qrow smiled gently, a slight blush arising. Clover supposes he should have considered that Qrow could have told him first.
“I planned to tell you later, but it looks like you beat me to it.”
“Do I get a prize for first then?”
“I’d say so, my lucky charm.” They closed their eyes, and slowly leaned closer into each other. As the song neared its end, they dared not break away from each other. Months of pining were finally manifesting in that small, but so significant moment. They only finally stopped just so they could catch their breath. “I love you too Qrow.” Together, they leaned against the balcony’s railing, holding each other’s hand, gazing lovingly at each other, recounting all the times they so overtly flirted, and the times the kids poked fun at them. Moonlight shining against the Qrow’s dark clothes and salt and pepper hair made him look angelic. Clover told him about Ren, which made Qrow laugh in surprise.
“It’s always the quiet ones you've got to watch out for.”
“I can tell.” He wasn’t going to tell Qrow that Ren called him Uncle Clover, yet. That was a story for another day. The sound of a vibration interrupted their conversation. Clover Picked up his scroll out of a pocket. He sighed sadly.
“Duty calls.” He really didn’t want the moment to end.
“Hmph. We should get going. It’s starting to get cold anyways. And who knows, maybe Yang and Winter started a Big Sister Dance Off.”
“Heh, I would pay to see that.” They continued their walk back to the ballroom hand in hand, enjoying the silence and each other’s company.
“I hear Vacuo is warm this time of year.” Qrow said just before they opened to the doors to reenter the ballroom. “You’re welcome to tag along with us if you like.” Clover thought for a moment.
“You know, I think I’ll take you up on that offer.” Qrow gave him a quick peck on his cheek.
“Lucky me.”

Water and Ice- Chapter 11: Ransom
Vytyl Festival
A match where a young man with rusty red-brownish hair. And brown eyes, wearing a black tank and green jeans, and a caped draped on this right arm. Standing with three other huntsmen students against another team of four.
"And here we have Team VSTI, a team who attended Atlas Academy. Featuring their leader, a young man who led his missions into victories. Very smart and quick at his feet. Better watch out, cause he's poisonous. The one, and only, Carlos Vega!" Came to the announcement. A young Carlos then smiled and waved to the crowd. Holding a rose from his teeth.
Female students then get a glimpse. Then he turns to each of them and winks at them. Making the girls either heated from the sight of the student, or fainted. Some however, are disinterested as some regarded him as a show-off. Team RWBY watches, not that they cared as they just want to enjoy the tournament.
"What a show-off. Who does this guy think he is?" Blake complained. Disgusted of how much attention he's getting.
Carlos then spots Weiss and smirk at this opportunity to throw the rose directly at her. Making his supporters jealous. Weiss then catches it. Ruby then spoke up. "Well, Weiss. It looks like he has a thing for you." Weiss is also dismayed for the way he looked at her like he have know her. She drops the rose and walks away from the audience. "Hmph!" She stormed off.
Sometime after the match. Weiss is walking into the Amity Arena to find her friends after recuperating from the nightmare she hated most. That is when she accidently dropped her scroll. "Why, every time?" She sighed. To her shock, A hand reached to her scroll first. "Please, allow me." A male voice offers.
"Oh, thank you." Weiss replies as the man handed back her scroll. "I thought I..." She gasped when she looks up to get a good look at him. Carlos Vega. The heir to the Vega Corporation that invested in dusts, rivaling the Schnee Dust Company. "Y-you!" Weiss exclaimed.
"Pardon me, I believe we have yet to formally been introduce. Miss Schnee. I am Carlos Don Vega." He bowed in respect. "It's a pleasure." He takes her hand and attempts to kiss it. But she pulls it back.
"Um...Thanks." She said awkwardly. She has the need of running before things get too awful. "Well, I have to get going then. My team is probably worried about me." She takes her right foot to get away, but Carlos stopped her in front.
"Please stay a bit longer, mi belleza de nieve. I just wanted to speak to you."
"What is it that you want? So that you can just leave me alone." Weiss demands. That is when he pulls out a rose and holds it in front of her eyes. "The moment I saw you, I knew there is a favor I would like to ask of you."
"And what is that?" Weiss is startled when he pushed her to the walls. "What the-?! What do you think you're doing?!" Weiss yells. And saw the smirk on his face. It didn't look good to her.
"The moment I saw you, I knew we are meant to be one."
"Being one? Oh please, that was plain corny coming from you." She snarked. "And heck, I don't even know you!" She tries to push him away, but to no avail.
"What I meant to say is, I am going to make you my bride." He said. She is appalled for what he said to her. Normally she would turn down every suitor her father picked for her. "Get it in your head, Vega. Your attitude towards women is unacceptable and appalling." She refused. "And I refused to give myself up for a spoiled snob like you."
"Hey Weiss, is everything okay here?" Asked a blonde teenager with gauntlets. Yang Xiao Long. She could see what was going on. "It's fine, Yang. Just some loser who is very delusional." Weiss responded with her arms crossed. Yang then grabbed the back of his neck collar and led him away.
"Alright pal, you had enough fun for one day." Yang then drag him away. Much to her relief.
Weiss cracked her eyes open from that memory. She was about to get up from where she was lying. At the same time she felt weak from all the poison. Falling back down in some bed. She looked at her lower body to see that she is no longer wearing her huntress gear. But rather a white dress with frills at the bottom. And a silver hairpin in her hair. When she looked around, she was sitting on a bed. She is in a room, where there's a dresser. A window where she can see the ocean. She could tell she's on a yacht. "You have awaken, mi belleza de nieve." Weiss gasped to see the man she has always hated.
"Stop calling me by that creepy nickname, my name is Weiss." Weiss scorned. But he ignored that comment. "And, why am I in this dress?! It's awful!" Disgusted being changed into a dress, which reminds her of the rules she have to endure in the house.
"But you are very lovely by that furious look on the face. I hope you can forgive me after our meeting with your father." Carlos tries to kiss her hand again. But Weiss lashes out at him. Showing no interest to submit. "Could you get any more stubborn? You should appreciate that I am giving you the luxury that you deserved."
"I have no interest in living the life of luxury. Neither is the money. Whatever scheme you have here, Vega. It's never going to work. So good day." Weiss began to summon her glyph. But it was no use when it her aura flickered. And her Myrtenaster was already confiscated while she was unconscious. Darn it, he took my weapon.
"Oh, I forgot to mention, your aura somehow saved you from the poison. So you got lucky. However, at the cost of your use of semblance. As long as it is in your body, it was no use." Explained Carlos. "This way, you will honor me by paying the debt." Weiss blinked, she didn't remember anything about a debt. She knew her father has shady businesses, but never in her life she knows about a debt. But it's all connected to her father. "What debt? I don't recall agreeing to this."
"You'll see when your father gets here himself. Oh, there he is." He glanced at the doorway to see Jacques Gele. Formerly known as Jacques Schnee after being married into her mother's family. The results of her family turmoil. She no longer fearing his presence. All she ever has towards him is hate. "Weiss, how a pleasure to see you again."
"How did you get out? You're supposed to be in prison." She snarled. Having the smug on his face. The reason she put her father arrested was because years back, she found out he was running as a candidate for chairman in the council of Atlas. The only crime he committed was conspiracy with murder, by making a deal with a mad scientist, named Dr. Arthur Watts to help him win the election by having an assassin to murder supporters of his rivals to rig the votes. After winning the election, Jacques however, was busted due to having blind spots of hidden cameras.
"Is that any way to address your father?" He retorted.
"You are not my father, you're just a coward who uses his own flesh and blood as pawns." Weiss points his finger at him. Showing him no mercy for all he has done. "It's no wonder Winter left you." She huffed. But her father has other plans, he still somewhat find her useful even if he took away her inheritance. "I know you're still angry with me, but I have other plans to make your life better."
"Is this about the debt you are ordered to pay? If so, I want no part of it."
"Actually, you are part of it. You want to know the reason I was able to convince your grandfather to let me take over the company?" Weiss never want to hear about it, but she grabs the only thing they haven't taken yet. An earring her sister had gave her that also serves as a recording device, should anything happens. As her father continues to speak. He walked towards the window. While speaking to her. Having to be tired doing nothing after sitting in a cell. "You see, I have an old friend who hired me in the place in the Vega Corporation. Montero Vega. That would be Carlos' father. Do you remember him?"
"Yes, just this one time in one of our after parties." Weiss replies.
"You see, he and I go way back. When I was a lad, I have no use of living, until he offered me a place in his company. All was successful, he and I have a lot in common with. It was thanks to him that I have become the high-paid man in all of Atlas. With all the money he paid me, it was enough to convince your grandfather to let me marry your mother as a requirement to take over his company. The poor fool was so weak, he was too desperate to find someway to manage a company. He doesn't know how his daughter will survive. And that's how it all came to this." Jacques explained his story.
"That company never belonged to you to begin with. Mother was still studying back then before she can inherit the business. Grandfather only let you marry her because he was worried for her. Even if he regretted that day to put her in serious misery. At least that's what he told Winter, she was the only person to have confide in him because she never trusted you." Weiss hissed.
"Later on, Montero and I have met again, only to remind me about the debt since I already borrowed his money. Of course, I invited him to your 7th after party of the concert you sang that night. Before I have the chance to speak to him, I noticed his son Carlos taking in interest in you. But you didn't noticed. No matter if you turn him away. He's not taking no for an answer. Then it hit me an idea, why paying up the debt with money, if I can arrange you a marriage? When I told Montero about this idea, he told me that he can accept this as a payment if I can set you and Carlos to make a business joint between both of our companies. And at least he accepted. Sadly, he died in illness. Leaving the debt in his son's will."
"So you sold me out, didn't you?!" She growled. Over the past years, she never thought that her father would put her in a debt. That crosses the line when he would go this far. But far worse when he escaped. Winter would never consent this arrangement, and neither will her mother. But unwilling to voice out because of the fear he would do something to her daughters and son. "As part of the deal, after Carlos is very kind enough to let me escape from prison. And to take back the company. It's ashamed that your sister never knew of his status as she was too busy teaching her students as headmistress to the academy."
"Winter would never let something like this to happen." She snapped. But Carlos took a step closer to her. Weiss stumbled back to the dresser. He lifts her chin. "I'm afraid you don't have a choice. You see, I have already found the individual responsible for the embargo sinking. Whose surname is Vasilias." Weiss gets shaken, she refused to believe this as a weapon for the ransom. "You see, I ran into him when he came out looking for you. That fool didn't know what hit him. But somehow he figured I was right behind him, and surprisingly, he surrenders." She inquired to herself, silently for why would he turn himself in.
"Don't believe me? I'll show it to you." She pulls out his scroll that features security cameras. There he clicked on a window where it was all black and white. But there a person has arms tied between the walls. And he was bleeding badly from all the beating he has taken. There was a muscular man punching him in the stomach. When he move away from him. Weiss is terrified that the man getting lashed out was Neptune. "No, Neptune!" She whimpered. Covering her mouth. Then Carlos leans over her shoulder and whispers to her. "I'm afraid you have no choice but to accept me into your arms. If you do, then I'll spare his life by turning him to your sister. And if you refuse, then I'll have no choice but to drown him into the bottom of the seas." He then walks out the door with her father giving her a smirk. "You have one hour to decide." Carlos waves before exiting. "Feel free to roam around the boat. Just so you know, I have my security team around in case you tried to escape."
What am I going to do? I cannot let him die, Vega will kill him. Weiss then slid against the dresser in distress. Tired of all the threats that's been going on. First She and Neptune are being hunted. And now he's been held hostage as ransom for her to agree to an unwanted marriage. Back as an heiress, she can be a bit of a complaint. But this time, she has to be considerate of others. She will never forgive herself if those she cared about have died because of her. Risking herself is the only option she has to set Neptune free. For him to run and hide without her.
Neptune is in another ship. Restrained by corners of left and right by ropes tied to his wrists. His Tri-hard have also been confiscated. His head is lower from all the infliction he received by all the beating. For that, there are bruises from the upper body, to the lowest. Never in his life he had endure, aside form fighting the Grimm.
What were they planning to do to Weiss? Why do I get the feeling that this is the wrong ship? He thought. He then thought back to the time he saw the figure in the hood and mask. Something in his eyes didn't feel right to him. When he was at sword point by the enemy. Something about that guy felt familiar to me. But where is this coming from? But he has some connection to the Red Eye. Don't worry, Weiss, I'll get you out of this. He thought.
Then the ship shaken with the sound of a boom, there was an explosion imploded from somewhere near the empty room. Through the doorway, all the guards are running the same direction to the exit. The alarms blared in red. "Um, hello?!" He called, but they ignored him. The he saw water leaking from the hall. "Uh oh..." He eye-widened in fear. "Oh no...water...Anything but that!" He moves in sideways to break free from the ropes. But they were too tight, his hands started to leak blood from the rasp of the ropes. "Hey! Anyone here?! A5 least help me out with these!" But the pain stings him so much, he passed out. "Gotta get out...of here...got...to..."
Jacques and Carlos are standing behind the rails of the yacht staring at the ship where Neptune is being held. Jacques is tapping his foot. Looking at his watch for the remaining time limit for Weiss to decide to give herself up or face the consequences. Carlos still hold the trigger to wait for the decision. However, despite the choices he have given her, he is still tempted to press the button to watch the explosion. Then it was too late. Weiss have exit the door to confirm her decision.
"Alright, Vega! You win. I'll do it if you just let him-!" Weiss was interrupted by the explosion as Carlos have already triggered the bomb. To her horror, the ship was burning in flames. There are guards on lifeboats. And Neptune was an exception. "Neptune!" She screamed. Grasping through the rails in bitterness. Tears are running, but instead she has them in full hatred.
"You monsters! You'll pay for this!" Weiss lets her fury out by creating a projection of the ursa. But it failed as her aura shattered.
"Did you already forget that the poison stops your semblance from activating?" Weiss still glared at him while thinking of a way to escape. "It's no use to save him now, it looks like you're about to be mine after all." Said Carlos when he was about to step towards her. Weiss was about to make a run for it. Climbing onto the rails to jump off the ship. Regardless of the height, to save the man she have grown to care for. "What are you doing? This is suicide, and you know it." Said Jacques. Hoping to bring her into his side. But Weiss turned in defiance, and told him, "I would rather drown than to let Neptune die." And with that, she jumps off. The explosion just went on early, which gives her enough time to dive into the sea and swim to the ship. Carlos then turned to three of his guards.
"You idiots, stop her!" They went after her to prevent her from escaping. But they came to late as they were far from the spot and Weiss successfully leaps off.
Weiss then climbs into the ship using the remaining lifeboat still attached to the lever. She made it to the top of the boat, which can lead to the room where Neptune is. First, she had glanced at the weapons. Her Myrtenaster, and Neptune's Tri-hard in a laboratory. She picks them up as needed for their next fight. In a desperate speed, she comes across every room. The dining room, the lounge, nothing came in. The lower she went, the higher the water rises. The last stop, is the boiler room. There she peaked through the window. Luckily, Neptune is nearby.
Walking on water while opening the door. Dealing with the velocity of the substance. "Neptune..." Weiss spoken while rushing towards him. Moving her arms and legs through the water while it has yet to have risen. Neptune then wakes up hearing her voice. He lifts his head. He thought it was his imagination. "W-Weiss...Is that...you?" He stammered, while still enduring the bruises. Instead of focusing in the water, he focused on Weiss as she embraced him in relief. She then breaks from him and saw the scars he has. "Oh my god. What have they done to you?"
"Forget about me, and get out of here. I can't swim and you know it." Neptune refuses. But Weiss determines to escape with him. Knowing she cannot let him live in fear forever. "Stop talking like that. I am going to get you out." Said Weiss. She then unties him, while catching him before he could fall. He fully regained consciousness. "Just followed my lead, okay? I'll bet this'll be the time for me to teach you to swim." The water then rises further near the ceiling. Flowing along with Weiss and Neptune as they held onto a pipe. They know they couldn't last long if they stay there. "When I give the word, keep kicking. And don't let go of my hand." Weiss instructed. Neptune then gets a grip that he didn't have any other choice but to follow along. And puts his goggles above his eyes. "Do you trust me?" Weiss asked. And he nods.
"I do."
"Okay, take a deep breathe." Weiss told him, and they held their breathes for as long as they can. His ears then got clogged by the water. But it didn't matter to him as long as he could see with the goggles. Weiss held his hand to lead him to safety. As instructed, Neptune kicks up and down to keep moving. This is the first time he felt calm about being in the water. When they reached the higher floors again, they resurfaced from the water. They breathed after reaching the stair. They coughed when some of the water got into their mouth. But more importantly, they survived. "Are you okay?" Weiss asked.
"Yeah...Definitely." He replies.
"Good, let's get out of here." They climbed onto the stairs and reached the balcony of the ship. They reached the the last lifeboat and float away. Weiss then looks at Neptune with a stern expression. "What were you thinking?! I told you to stay behind and you nearly got killed! Do you have any idea how scared I got?!" Weiss then teared up looking at the bruised state he has. "This is all my fault, isn't it? I already dragged you into this, didn't I..." She rubbed her eyes. Feeling guilt that someone could be targeted, all because she is pinned into bounty. "I think it's best if I...stay away from you...while you get as far away as possible..." Neptune ignores her arguments, and instead pulls the back of Weiss' head close to his and kisses her. Weiss tried to pull away, but she gave in. They closed their eyes and break away to look at each other.
"Do you think I am the type to leave you behind?" He asked, but Weiss didn't answered. "That was very brave of you back there. I never thought you can take that risk. I learned today that I will no longer live in fear. I would give anything to save those I cared about. Especially you." Weiss then placed her hand on the back of his hair. "I'm just happy that you're alive. I'll never let anything happened to you either." Then a gun was pointed to Neptune's head. Which they jumped by the sudden movement. "Such a sweet moment. Too bad it's never going to last long." They looked up to see Jacques and Carlos in speedboats with a bunch of bodyguards ready to fire.
"Come along, Weiss. We have a debt to pay." Jacques said before turning to the blue-haired huntsmen. "Either it's that, or the blue-haired boy, gets it." Neptune bites back by pointing his rifle to him. "Try me, old man!" Weiss interrupts by lowering his gun to prevent Neptune from getting injured any further, as he was already punished enough as it is. "No, don't do it." Weiss pleaded quietly. Before he could protest, Weiss explained to him. "Father has made it clear that he's not going to stop until the debt is paid. I can't let him get his way to kill you." His eye widened to hear that the man standing before him was her father. Weiss secretly gives Neptune her rapier before they get caught.
"Wait a minute, you're her father?" Neptune asked. "You're supposed to be in prison."
"Isn't it obvious. The reason I have to sent my future son-in-law to capture you, because I knew my daughter would refuse to give in for a debt." Jacques explains while brushing his mustache. Neptune turned to the so-called suitor of hers. And recognized the uniform he is wearing. "Wait a minute, you're from the Atlas Military. How did you not get caught." The heir of the Vega Corporation has chuckled brushing his hair. He's not taking the situations very seriously in the name of the will his father. Neptune didn't like the fact that parents would use their sons and daughters as debts. "I don't want you around her anymore. If you dare to interfere, I won't let you off easily." Before Neptune can fight back. Weiss gets up and responded to them. "No one's dying today. Because I'll come with you." She insisted. Neptune then grabs her wrist to stop her from taking risk. "Weiss, don't do this. Are you crazy?" Neptune protests. But she pulls away and spun to him. "I have to, I cannot let anyone I cared about getting killed. It's my job as a huntress to put others first. You need to focus on finding your brother and bring him home."
"Hop on, mi belleza de nieve." He reached out his hand, and Weiss reluctantly has hers over his and got into his boat.. Neptune watches Weiss being sped away. Weiss then stared at Neptune, knowing that she might not see him anymore if nothing is done. Neptune won't forget his promise to continue searching for his brother. But he cannot let Weiss submit to her enemies either. "Weiss, I promise you. I will get you out of this!" He promised.

Futa Ruby is very horny and needs to get off. So the futa bursts with into Yang’s room and tells the blonde to “do her job”. Yang is red in embarrassment as she has Blake and Weiss for a sleep over. She try’s to make some fake, half hearted excuse to Ruby and her friends. But Ruby simply doesn’t care. With a huge blush on all three girls faces, yang reluctantly kneels In front of her sister and takes out her cock in front of her friends.
“Yaaaaaaang~ I need my dick sucked. I’m too backed up again.” Ruby cried, barging into her sister’s room. Standing at the door entrance with nothing but a shirt on, her entire lower half completely bare to the entire world.
The blonde in question couldn’t help the ripe blush that was burning her cheeks at the sight of her sister entering the room and announcing her demands to her. Nevermind the blatant fact that the girl was currently in the midst of company, namely her friends Blake and Weiss, both of whom were equally shocked for many reasons. Not only, hearing Yang’s baby sister demanding such a perverse request so shamelessly. But also seeing the massive cock that dangled between the small girl’s legs. While the girl was by now means petite, such a thing definitely was not something you would expect on her, at all for that matter.
Gulping and realizing her sister was serious, Yang quickly racked her brain to come up with something. “R-Rubes, c-come on now, Weiss and Blake are here, can’t you just handle that on your own for tonight?” It technically wasn’t really an excuse, but she hoped Ruby would listen to reason. Unfortunately, the young crimsonette was not having any of it.
“I don’t care, your mouth is better than my hands. Besides didn’t you promise to always blow me no matter what?”
Yang winced, she DID promise that. “Well, yeah but-”
“Then why can’t you now?” The futa whined childishly.
Seeing that Ruby wasn’t going to budge on the matter, let alone leave her room anytime soon. Yang sent an apologetic glance to her friends as she let out a sigh of defeated and gestured to her sister to come in. Ruby squealing happily as she zipped and sat down on Yang’s bed, her cock already nice and hard. Yang inwardly groaned, and hoped that the faster she did this, the faster she could get Ruby to leave. Walking up kneeling before her sister, Yang stared at the massive monolithic pillar of meat that stood tall and proud before her. Its indomitable presence contrasting greatly with the innocent and excited smile that was on her baby sister’s face.
A blush began to form as she gulped, doing her best to ignore the musky scent wafting around her normal. A smell that she had become used to, and even aroused by over the many times she’s sucked off her little sister. Taking the cock in her hand, she stroked it off gently, planting soft kiss from the tip and making her way down. Peppering the underside of the shaft will little kisses until she fully took the cock into her mouth. A small part of her shivering in delight from salty tasting member in her mouth, despite being in front of Blake and Weiss doing this.
Speaking off, the two girls in question had been watching the whole thing utterly shell-shocked. Still trying to process the fact that this was the whole relationship between the two sisters. Not only were they stunned by how easily Ruby had control over Yang when it came to sexual urges. They also couldn’t believe just how hung the girl was, and how easily Yang was taking the entire thing into her mouth. Their throats drying as they unconsciously gulped from watching Yang bob her head up and down the meaty length. Seeing her neck slowly bulge in the shape of Ruby’s cock as it slid deeper into her mouth. Even though they shouldn’t have been watching, even though Weiss wanted to chastized them for doing something like this in front of them. The petite Schnee couldn’t find it in herself to say anything.
Blake for her part was becoming too aroused to say anything either. The more perverse side of her looking on with envy as her hand slowly started gravitating to between her legs. Her lower lips becoming wet with her arousal as she pumped two of her fingers into her. Much to Weiss’ shock once the white-haired girl noticed what her friend was doing. But the faunus didn’t care, too lost in her lust to stop what she was doing. Weiss, with a blush as well, couldn’t resist the temptation either. Her own sex burning with desire and demanding pleasure as well, before long, she found herself joining Blake, in masturbating to the steamy sight before them.
Ruby meanwhile, moaned out happily, “Mmm~ Gooood, this is what I needed Yang,” She purred, before grabbing her sister’s head. “Just need a little... more.”
Yang’s eyelids flew up as her head was forced down to the base of her sister’s length and being pulled back up. Only for the motion to repeat again and again, telling the blonde Ruby was taking over. Something she only ever did, if she was moving too slow, or if she was getting close to cumming. Figuring it must’ve been the latter, Yang steeled herself for the face fucking, remembering to breathe through her nostrils as Ruby destroyed her tight throat. Forcing back the gag reflexes that made her want to choke. While the rational part of her mind felt humiliated, being used like a slut in front of her friends. The traitorous part of her mind was enjoying it; loving how much her baby sister was treating her no more than a mere cock sleeve. How her cock was stretching out her throat violently, something that would’ve choked any other girl in her position. And she loved it.
“Y-Yang, I’m gonna-”
Yang didn’t say anything, rather she couldn’t, but merely rubbed her sister’s thighs gently, telling her that it was okay and that she could cum whenever she wanted. The silent signal was enough for Ruby as she pumped her hips madly, burying Yang’s face into her crotch and letting loose a hot wave of her hot sticky seed into her older sister’s mouth. Spurts after thick, creamy spurts of cum being pumped down her throat, Yang doing her utmost to swallow it all with each gulp. Nearly creaming her shorts and panties from the taste alone. Ruby let out a guttural sigh of happiness from the release, her cock throbbing in agreement. She remained that way for a few full moments. Wanting to dump everything she had churning in her balls into her personal cum dump.
Once her discharge was done, she pulled Yang off. Her cock going soft before her, satisfied for now. “Thanks, Yang, I’ll be sure to come back if it acts up again.” And with that, Ruby happily left the room, as if nothing happened. Yang struggling her catch her breath while dealing with a belly full of her sister’s salty cum.
Glancing over to Weiss and Blake to apologize for what transpired, she was stunned to see the two’s lower half drenched, their panties tossed aside from them masturbating earlier. Blinking at them with a stupefied expression, the trio of girls all sat in the room in an uncomfortable, and just plain awkward, silence.
“We never speak of this night, agreed?” Weiss hissed, fighting down her hot blush.
“Right.” Yang and Blake panted in unison.

His hair
Part 2 of this.
xxx
It had only been one day, but Weiss was starting to get used to her new hair style, a braid which Jaune had expertly crafted with his own hands, much to her surprise. While it wasn’t a striking visual change from her regular ponytail, the way it felt was different. A higher center of gravity which had been a slight inconvenience, but something which the boy had also helped her with in the form of a neck massage. Again, he had been surprisingly skillful in that department too. If she were to guess from their talk the other day, both the braiding and massage were skills instilled into him by his sisters throughout the years. She silently wondered to herself what else he was capable of.
Unfortunately, there was little time to explore how deep his domestic skills ran, for they were still on a mission to save the world. Even these brief moments of reprieve in which they were to gather their strength were almost coming to an end. Their final errand before they would set for Atlas proper was a wardrobe upgrade. Something everyone was most looking forward to. She too was excited for the prospect of finding a new outfit. Something that would carry on a message, one that would tell everyone of her growth and maturity. Besides, it had been a while since she bought something herself and wasn’t handed to her by one of her father’s servants. This time the girl would get to shop with everyone.
Even so, as she descended the stairs from their accommodation place in Mantle, a house Winter had managed to procure for them, she could not help but have the blond in mind. Jaune had come a long way from the boy that would trip on his own legs at Beacon. He stood taller, held more presence than before and his resolve to fight for his friends and those he cared for was admirable in her eyes. Weiss would not find it hard to admit that she enjoyed their talk the previous day, he had been great company. As she had enjoyed his service on both her hair and the massage. Speaking of which, she intended to ask for another one after breakfast. Perhaps they would retreat to a private room where they could share thoughts again. That sounded like an appealing prospect.
Her train of thought was interrupted when she saw a commotion in the hall leading to the living room. Her eyes could discern a distraught Nora surrounded by Ren, Ruby and Yang. Sensing the desolate mood, Weiss approached them, intent on finding the cause.
Weiss: What happened here?” She voiced her question, eyes watching each of them, prompting them to answer her. Her partner was the one to respond.
Ruby: “Uh, well, there’s been a bit of an accident, you could say.”
Weiss: “An accident?”
Nora: “I didn’t mean to do it! I mean, I did, but… not like this. I didn’t think he’d react like that.” The girl deflated at her own words, a contrast to her usual self. Next to her, Ren held a hand on her shoulder, her only source of comfort.
Yang: “You did jump him with a shaver and ran it through his hair without any warning. If I were in Jaune’s place, I would have been royally pissed too.”
Those words only made Nora slump even more. Weiss had never seen the girl so deflated.
Ruby: “Yang…” Ruby tried to scold her sister with no success. “Look, Nora, you know Jaune’s not really upset with you. He’s probably still shocked and processing the…uhh, change. Once he’s done looking at himself in the mirror, he’ll come right out. You’ll see.”
Yang: “He locked himself in the bathroom.” Yang added with the subtlety of a bull.
The leader of RWBY looked at her sister again with another frown. Said girl only shrugged. Apparently, she was the unforgiving sort when it came to hair or anyone messing with it, despite not being hers. Maybe she disagreed with Nora’s method that left Jaune with no word in the matter.
Weiss: “How long has he been in there?”
Ren: “Approximatively 20 minutes.”
Ruby: “We tried to talk with him and convince him to come out, but…” Her silence was enough of an answer.
Weiss looked at the door of the room where Jaune had apparently barricaded himself and frowned slightly. It was hard for her to imagine Jaune being self-conscious about his hair, but then again, she had not seen what Nora had done with it. On some level, she could understand Yang being upset with the pink themed girl for deciding to cut Jaune’s hair without his consent. But right now, given the situation, she figured it was best to try and get him to exit.
Weiss: “Let me try to talk with him.”
At her partner’s nod, Weiss walked past her and stood in front of the wooden door. “Jaune? Jaune, can you hear me. It’s Weiss. Can you open the door, please?” She knocked lightly.
Jaune: “W-weiss? Did you need to use the bathroom? I… I’ll be done in a bit. Just another 10 or 15 minutes and I’ll be out of your hair.”
Weiss: “I heard what happened with Nora.” When he didn’t immediately answer she continued. “Listen, no matter how bad you think you look, no one here will say anything about your hair. Would you be willing to come out?”
Jaune: “I can’t... it’s just, no. My hair looks awful.” His whimpers came from the other side.
Hearing him speak like that made her feel for him. “I’m sure it’s not even half as awful as you think it is.” Weiss tried words of encouragement, despite having never done something like this too often.
Jaune: “You’re right, it’s not bad… it’s worse!”
The approach was not working, Weiss realized. Then she would have to be more direct.
Weiss: “Jaune, open the door, please. You don’t have to come out. I just wish to see your hair for a moment. No one will laugh at you, I promise.” She looked at the rest with a stern look, making them silently promise that they would keep the promise.
Jaune said nothing for a few moments: “Okay, but… only enough for you to see.”
As soon as those words were spoken, the door cracked open and moved slowly, revealing the person inside. Jaune stood in front of her now, having stopped before the door could even open halfway. He only wanted her to see, it seemed. Perhaps he trusted her word enough to know that she would not break it.
Weiss appreciated that. She would stand by her promise and not judge. If anyone behind her would make the briefest of sounds resembling a laugh, then she would turn on them like a wintry storm. For everyone’s sake, the quiet remained and Weiss could finally see the state of his hair. It looked messy, like he had been trying to get cut it on his own, and given the scissors in his hand, he probably had. What stood out the most was the horizontal slash left behind by the blades of the shaver. They cut deep on the right side of his head near the temple. From what she could tell, it had cut the long bang he usually kept on that side along with everything else in the way, leaving the area almost devoid of his blonde tresses. That was a lot of hair to have lost suddenly.
Jaune: “Yeah, pretty awful, huh?” He gave a pathetic smile.
Weiss’ eyes softened at his look. She did not like seeing him down, not after he’d done quite a lot for her recently and started to get along together. With a serious expression, she put her hands on his chest and gently pushed him back inside the bathroom.
Weiss: “Come on. Let’s get you looking presentable.”
Both were inside the room and Weiss made sure to close the door behind her.
Jaune: “Weiss?” He looked at her in confusion.
The girl didn’t answer and instead motioned for him to take a seat on the chair that was in front of the sink and mirror. No doubt he had tried to fix what he could himself, but there was no doubt that he had struggled. Taking a towel, Weiss tucked it around his neck, making sure to cover his clothes. Gingerly, she took the scissors from his hand and grabbed a comb.
Weiss: “Word of warning, I haven’t had much practice with cutting hair, but I’ll do my best to fix this.”
What little practice she had had was when she was younger and attempted to cut her own hair herself, much to the disagreement of her father. Weiss had managed to experiment a few times before being forced to stop and go to a professional, again, courtesy of her father. At least he hadn’t dictated how her hair should be from that day and she could freely ask for her hair to be styled in her signature side ponytail without worry. A small win in her book, but a win, nevertheless.
Jaune: “Weiss… you really don’t have to do this.”
Weiss: “You’ve helped me with my hair. Let me do the same for you. Like I said before, I’m doing this because I want to.” When Jaune didn’t say another word, she began working.
Her moves were slow and inexperienced, but she tried to be as precise and meticulous as she could. As her fingers ran through his golden locks, she couldn’t help but note that his hair wasn’t as rough as she had expected. In a way, that made it easier for her as her fingers pushed to cut another bit of his hair.
As for what she was going to do with it, Weiss was unsure. She did not claim to be an expert in male hairstyles or what the latest trends were, so she settled on cutting his hair in a style that she deemed appropriate. Something she liked and found appealing.
Weiss: “Nora is pretty depressed over this. I’ve never seen her so down before.” She made small talk regarding the situation they were in. “I’m sure she’ll apologize to you once you see her.” And Weiss wished for him to forgive the girl. They were all close friends, her second family.
Jaune: “I know. I’m still upset, but I’ll probably forgive her in a few hours.”
Weiss nodded. That sounded like him, alright. He cared too much for them to be truly upset over something like this.
It took her a good 15 minutes, but Weiss believed she was finished. Discarding the utensils, she regarded the boy next to her making sure to inspect her handiwork with a sharp eye. Weiss had been surprised to discover that his hair was naturally spiky, but she decided that it suited him. Unlike the well-groomed men of Atlas with their tidy hair, Jaune’s hair had an edge to it because of that. It reminded the girl a bit of herself and her own choice in hairstyle. Her lips twisted in a big smile, she was pleased with the result.
Weiss: “Well, are you not going to comment on my work?” She urged him. Weiss really wanted to hear his thoughts.
Jaune: “It looks… okay, I guess.” Jaune responded after a few moments in which he checked himself in the mirror
Weiss: “You guess?” Raising an eyebrow, she waited for him to explain his thoughts.
Jaune: “You did a great work, Weiss. Honest.” He gave her a small smile and his tone suggested that he was genuine with his words. “It’s just different than what I expected. Not really how I would have cut my hair.”
With a small hum, Weiss took a step forward and entered in his range. Not perturbed by his surprise, she grabbed his face with both hands and began to closely look at him. With slow moves, the girl moved his head from left to right, up and down, basically inspecting him from every single angle. Under this much attention, Jaune could not help but blush. The way she looked at him and her soft hands touching his face, those had a huge effect on him.
Weiss: “Well, I believe that I did you a good service then.” Weiss released him and maintained her proud look. “This is much better than that scraggly mop you previously had.”
Jaune looked to the side: “My hair wasn’t that bad…” He mumbled, defending his choice.
Weiss: “Regardless, I still believe this clean look is an improvement.” Her smile widened minutely as she gave him a… was that a teasing look? Leaning forward, she spoke again: “You actually look handsome for a change.” Weiss had a playful look on her eyes, cheeks dusted in a pretty pink.
Jaune: “W-what!?” If his cheeks weren’t red before, they were now.
Weiss: “Make sure to clean up the mess and join us for breakfast. Also, do try to forgive Nora soon. It would be bad if we started our mission while at odds with each other.” Finding satisfaction in his lingering reaction, she turned around and made to exit, though not before stopping right as her hand touched the handle and turning her head to give him a side glance, smile still in place. “One more thing. I would like for you to give me another massage before we leave for our shopping trip. I’ll be waiting for you in my room after breakfast. Don’t keep me waiting.” With those words, she left the room.
Jaune was left to stare at the door for a few seconds, before he released a breath and ran his hand through his freshly cut hair. A chuckle escaped his lips as he turned to look at his reflection in the mirror. “How does she do it?” He asked himself in the mirror. Jaune did not get an answer, but he could feel his strong heartbeat in his chest. Perhaps that was a clue.

Pier
Sorry I’m late y’all! Day 3 was not technically finished and I originally planned to just split the entry into two chapters and maybe finish this one off later but... instead my dumb ass was like: No! Finish it!
So I did and now it is past midnight. I am very tired and things may not be edited properly.
I also gave up the secret on this one to a few readers... this entry is actually a continuation to Umbrella, which I had written a few weeks back. I do recommend reading that one first.
Day 3: Family
Dedicated to: @chiherah/@chiherahcreations
Rating: K+
Pairing: Qrow/Clover, Raven/Tai/Summer
Word Count: 5k
Ao3 Link: Pier
Summary: Every year, it was a tradition for Qrow to head up to Lake Bowen and spend the holidays with his sister's family. It was not, generally, tradition to bring a boyfriend along for the ride. [Modern AU]
~
Qrow flicked on his turn signal, fingers drumming a nervous rhythm over the steering wheel as he waited for the light to turn. Usually, he was relieved once he’d hit this stoplight, as it acted as a beacon marking the last leg of the grueling four-and-a-half hour drive it took to get from his little apartment in Wilmington to his sister’s grand cottage in Lake Bowen. It was a chance to finally stretch out his legs and get tackled down by his little gremlin nieces who would spend the majority of the next three days begging to know what he got them for Christmas. He’d get a glass of iced tea and a hug from Tai and a kiss on the cheek and a cookie from Summer before they both banished him from the kitchen. Spent the better part of the waning afternoon munching on finger food while catching up with Raven and entertaining Yang and Ruby as they tried to tug him into half a dozen different games.
At least, that’s how it was supposed to go.
But typically he didn’t have someone else with him.
“Everything alright?” That same someone else who had also easily picked up on his growing anxiety.
“Yeah, fine.” He said gruffly, turning left as the light finally changed.
“That was convincing.” There was a rustling as Clover set aside the newspaper he’d been reading (the dork had to be one of the last of the dozen living humans left to have a subscription), turning his full attention on him. “Come on babe, what’s on your mind?”
He glanced at him and it was a mistake, because there was no way he could argue when looking into those earnest teal eyes – especially when looking through those cute, wire-rim reading glasses. He sighed, fingers starting up their drum solo once more. “I just want this week to go well.”
“Why do you think it won’t?”
“Because,” He faltered, chewing on the edge of his lip. “My sister’s side of the family isn’t exactly what you’d call normal.”
“So you’ve said, about a thousand times.” Clover replied, “And as I’ve said a thousand and one times, it’s fine. I’m not gonna start judging the people you love just because they aren’t a traditional nuclear family.”
Qrow gave a noncommittal hum. Kept drumming.
He wasn’t really worried about that – though, he didn’t quite forget the nightmare when one of his partners tried to exposit some ‘helpful advice’ about the Rose-Xiao Long-Branwen family’s living situation. Raven had near about shoved the carving knife in Kimi’s chest when she tried to enlighten to Summer how three people sleeping in the same bed will give the children questionable ideas. After getting thoroughly screamed at by three furious adults, his girlfriend had run out of the house in tears – and stole his car to get away from his ‘crazy fucking family’. It had taken him a good two months to get it back, and he certainly didn’t get her back with it. Not that it was a great loss.
Come to think of it, that disaster was the last time he’d braved bringing anyone by at all. Ruby hadn’t even been talking yet.
“Alright,” Clover’s voice broke him from his thoughts. “Let’s try something different. What’s the biggest thing you’re afraid of?”
“Snakes.”
A snort. “Qrow.”
“I mean, it is.” He guaranteed. “They’re scaly and slithery and gross and Raven put one in my bed when I was ten and I never forgave her for it.”
Clover gave his arm a light smack. “About the meeting, birdbrain.”
Qrow rolled his eyes. “Oh, bird insults, how original.”
“I’m a classics kind of guy.”
“You are not Mr. I-haven’t-seen-anything-made-before-the-80s.”
“You’re avoiding the question.”
He opened his mouth, then shut it. Frowned at the street they were driving over. “It’s just, what if they don’t like you?”
His boyfriend tilted his head. “All of them?”
His fingers clenched over the wheel. “What if you don’t like them?”
“All of them?” He echoed with a touch more amusement.
He grunted, slouching low. “Okay I get it, I’m being dumb.”
“No, you’re not. It’s normal to be stressed out about this. I was just trying to point out your fears are probably getting the better of you. Do you really believe all of us are going to just hate each other?” Clover refuted gently. Qrow liked that about him, how he could so easily retrack his mind out of the harmful places they tended to journey to.
“Maybe not all of you. But Raven? Definitely.” He grunted. “She hasn’t liked a single person I’ve dated, ever.”
“Um.”
He shot him a look. “What?”
Clover grinned guiltily in return. “We’ve talked about some of the people you’ve dated and your track record isn’t the best.”
Mildly offended, he snipped back, “Oz was a good one!”
“The guy with four kids?”
“It wasn’t that he had four kids, it was that he lied about having four kids.” When all he got was an arched a brow as if to say ‘that’s better?’, Qrow scowled. “Shut up.”
Clover laughed. It wasn’t long before he was laughing with him. He liked this about him too, how an air of comfort always seemed to surround his boyfriend. He was always ready to lighten the mood with a joke, a smile or his laugh, which even after the seven months they’d been dating, Qrow was still utterly captivated by. More than that, he was slowly coming to the realization he didn’t want to go a day without it – or without Clover.
He knew things were getting serious, which was why he so desperately needed this week to go well. He needed his family to support his new relationship and he needed Clover to accept his strange little family. Because if he got those two simple things, then he would see there was a possibility for a future in which Clover was part of his family.
He knew that fateful meeting was coming closer as he spotted the last landmark they had to cross before they would find themselves at the house. “There’s the bridge.”
As they started over the lake, it was comically cartoonish how he could practically see the sparkle effect in Clover’s eyes as he plastered his face against the window. With no traffic behind them, Qrow slowed the car down to give him a chance to really take it in.
Once, when he’d been invited on yet another date to the beach, he’d joked that Clover was just like his namesake because, as a weed, it was only natural he’d want to suck up as much of the surrounding water as possible. It wasn’t just the sea he was completely enamored by, but also lakes, ponds, rivers, marshes, and anything and everything in between. Heck, even their first true meeting was thanks to his obsession – Clover eventually admitted the only reason he’d left early that day was because he wanted to go out and enjoy the rain.
“As luck would have it, I got to enjoy some great company along with it.” He had said with a wink.
Qrow wouldn’t say he necessarily understood it, but it was impossible not to enjoy the excited way Clover would go on about subglacial lakes or tell stories about how he used to catch newts whenever spring came around and tried to keep them as pets. Topics that he probably would otherwise have found boring was different seeing it through the lens of someone so passionate – and Qrow knew he was just the same whenever he talked about fencing or birds. He still recalled the night their interests made a rare alignment, when they ended up having a long talk about Kingfishers.
He knew if he told anyone about that night, they’d probably just laugh and tell him how dull it sounded. And yet, for him, it remained as one of his favorite dates.
“Man, how incredible it must be just to live out here.” Clover said after they’d made their way across, the lake giving way to land once more and opening into a very small business district. “How does your sister’s family afford it?”
“It’s inherited. Tai’s uncle willed it to him when he passed.” He took a left, heading up towards the lakeside neighborhood. The street itself narrowed considerably, and spindly, white-trunked ash trees flanked them from either side.
“His uncle did?” He echoed, not hiding his confusion.
“Yeah. I don’t know all the details but he basically raised him. So, I guess he was more like his surrogate dad than anything.” Qrow explained, feeling his anxiety spike as the two-story dwelling peeked between dense vegetation. “Heh, actually I’m pretty sure that’s why Tai’s so insistent I come visit so much. He probably invites me over more than my own sister does.” Scratch that, he definitely did.
He pulled down the driveway to the garage situated in the back. As the house was on the waterside, the front was facing towards the lake and the driveway and garage were in the rear. It was a bit strange, but he’d gotten used to it over the years, just like he’d gotten used to the fact the dwelling was one of the most unique in the neighborhood. Made to appear like a log cabin, it seemed more suited for a place in the middle of the woods or up in the mountaintops. Tai’s little sunflower garden framed either side of the doorway, and bushes of roses and birds of paradise were interspaced down the west and eastern sides of the house. From memory, he remembered the front had a large porch with an overhang and a path made of stones that led from the door down to the small, privately owned pier.
The engine was cut, and he heard the passenger door opening - but Qrow stared blankly at the dash, hoping the next ten seconds would be enough to mentally prepare him for the next seven days.
“Hey. Look at me.” Clover’s larger, tanner hander covered his own, thumb brushing over his knuckles that had whitened from their too-tight grip on the wheel. It took him a moment to tear his gaze from the touch to actually do as asked, and was consoled by the tender, reassuring smile his boyfriend gave him. “Everything’s going to be fine.”
He swallowed down the lump in his throat. “How are you so calm about this?”
“’Cause I’ve got you at my side. Just knowing you’re with me gives me courage.”
The words made his heart stutter. It stuttered again when Clover lent forward to kiss him. His eyes slipped closed, giving back as much as he was given. The strength he’d been looking for filled him so that when they finally pulled away and exited the car, the knot that had been in the pit of his stomach had loosened its hold considerably. Just in time, as faint barking from inside definitely announced their arrival, drawing his attention to the back door.
A second later, the screen door came flying open as his youngest niece came barreling out of it, screaming at the top of her lungs, “UNCLE QROW’S HERE!!”
It was hard to tell if the snickers on the other side of the car were from the seven-year old’s antics or perhaps from her odd sense of fashion, as she was sporting a long, red bathroom robe that he swore was Raven’s, what appeared to be an old Flash costume from Halloween, and a pirate’s hat. As she came racing towards him, he realized she also had on light-up shoes.
He lent down, scooping Ruby up and lifting her effortlessly. “Hey there pipsqueak.”
She snuggled into his shoulder. “I missed you.”
“Missed you too.” He kissed the top of her head. “So, what’s with this little getup?”
She pulled at the loose belt meant to hold the robe closed. “Mama said you might need saving, so I dressed the part.”
“Did she now?” He carefully kept the annoyance off his face but oh, was he so getting his sister back for that.
“Uh-huh! I’m Rapid Ruby, at your service!” She tipped her hat.
Before Qrow could think up an appropriate response, a coo of ‘Ooh who’s this little guy?’ drew his attention towards his boyfriend. The man was kneeling on the ground, accepting little licks from what was certainly not a little guy. In fact, it had to be the fattest corgi he’d ever seen in his life. The poor thing was shaped exactly like a swiss roll cake and colored like one too.
“That’s Zwei! Mommy brought him from her office.” His niece chirped brightly, but when Clover looked up at her, she shrunk against Qrow’s neck, trying to hide. His hero.
He rubbed her back soothingly. “Ruby, this is Clover. You remember me talking to you about him over the phone right?” She only gave a little whine. “He’s left-handed, like you.”
That got her to lift her face, looking at the man with a wary curiosity. “Do you have to use special scissors too?”
“I do.” Clover smiled at her, still kneeling on the ground so he appeared less threatening. Or maybe he just wanted to get more kisses from the dog, it was hard to tell.
“And can openers are dumb, right?”
“The dumbest.”
“And, and!” She tapped her chin, thinking hard. “Have you ever taken your mommy’s tea by accident during lunch and had to spit it out cause it’s gross?”
He chuckled. “Not tea, but I did take a swig of my dad’s whiskey once.”
Ruby spat out her tongue. “Yucky!”
“Yeah, it really was.”
“Well,” An orotund voice cut in. “It’s nice to see everyone getting along out here.”
Mostly content to just watch the two’s adorable exchange, Qrow hadn’t notice the newcomer who had stepped outside, a welcoming grin spread on Tai’s face as he approached.
Newcomers, he amended, as he spotted Raven watching them from the threshold.
He juggled Ruby carefully, holding out an arm to accept the side hug his brother-in-law gave him. “Good to see you brother.”
“You too. Glad you could make it. Tai ruffled his hair before he pulled away to shake Clover’s hand. “It’s nice to meet you! Qrow’s told us a lot.”
“Likewise.”
Before things could potentially get awkward, Qrow cleared his throat. “So Tai, what’s with the cake roll?”
The blond glanced back at him, then down at the dog who plopped down at his feet. “Zwei? Someone dropped him off a few weeks ago. No tags or chip. And you know Summer, she just couldn’t leave him to starve in a cage.”
“Think starving’s the least of his problems.” He grumbled under his breath.
“She’s a vet, right?” Clover spoke up.
“Yeah, we run a little place together. But you’d swear, with how many animals get abandoned there that we’re actually the town shelter.” Tai joked. “We usually end up fostering the ones in need of special care.”
Ruby tugged at his shirt collar, excitement sparkling in her eyes. “Daddy says we’re gonna keep him.”
“No. Daddy said we will discuss keeping it.” Raven chided across the yard, still barring the door like a sphinx waiting for the right answer.
“But maaaa!” Ruby started to wiggle enough that Qrow let her down so she could run over and plead her case.
Now out of earshot, Tai lent over and whispered, “We’re putting a collar and leash in Yang’s stocking and some dog toys in Ruby’s.”
“Bet that thrills Raven.” He murmured back. She’d never been much of an animal person.
“It was her idea.” His eyebrows shot up in surprise, but before he could comment, his brother was slapping him on the shoulder, continuing on in a louder tone, “Alright, how ‘bout we get your guys’ stuff inside so y’all can settle in?”
While Raven brought Ruby and Zwei inside to keep them out of the way, the trunk was popped and the luggage pulled out. Between the three of them, they were able to juggle their bags and the box of gifts inside, the latter being dropped off next to the heavily decorated Christmas tree the moment they entered the great room. As Tai led them towards the stairs, Qrow took a peek at the archway that lead to the kitchen, and though he only caught the back of Summer’s head, he could smell the delectable scents of whatever she was preparing wafting in from here.
“We only have one guest room, so I apologize the accommodations aren’t the best.” Tai was saying after they’d set the bags inside the guest room. The words were entirely for Clover’s sake, as he never said them when Qrow came here alone. Perhaps because the room only housed one bed.
Clover was too preoccupied swooning over the window nook that overlooked the lake to notice such a trivial detail. “I think it’s perfect.”
What a dork. Qrow rolled his eyes, having to fight the smile from his face.
“So, Qrow tells me you like to fish.”
Oh god, now they were never going to shut up. While they chatted, Qrow ducked out of the room to use the bathroom. By the time he was passing by his room again, Tai and Clover were chatting about lure types, so he decided to make his way back to the ground floor, passing Zwei laying in his doggy bed by the couch, and entered into the kitchen where all the girls had collected in.
Raven was at one side, frosting sugar cookies before handing them over to Ruby who was sitting on the counter. Her job was to decorate each cookie with little chocolate chips, peppermint crunch, or cinnamon bites before setting them on the plate (and both were stealing candy pieces to munch on). Opposite them, Yang was standing on a stool to be tall enough to reach the counter, vigorously peeling through carrots before handing them off to Sumer, who chopped them into smaller pieces with the vegetable knife before adding them into a pot. The oven was on, the faint outline of a cooking dish the likely culprit of what he’d gotten a whiff of coming inside.
“Mmmm, I don’t even know where to start.” Qrow said more to announce his presence than anything.
“There you are, you scoundrel! Was beginning to think you weren’t gonna come say hello.” Summer chastised as she walked over to him, Irish accent thick as ever.
He knelt down to accept his cheek kisses. “Thought you woulda appreciated me not immediately invading your kitchen for once.” Tiny, strong arms found their way around his waist. He dropped his hand into golden curls, smiling down at his other niece. “Hey there firecracker.”
She pressed her chin into his ribs, giving him a stern stare that made her look so much like his sister. “I’m making dinner tonight, so you better like it!”
“I’m sure with you behind the helm, it’ll be wonderful.” He snorted. A threat as a greeting hadn’t been his expectation.
She was grinning now, giving one more, “You better!” before hurrying back to her station.
“She’s really excited.” Summer explained, following her. As he poured himself a glass of sweet tea from the pitcher sitting on the island, she asked, “So where’s yer lad? I was hoping to get a good gander at him.”
He leant back against the counter next to his sis as he replied, “Tai got him talking about fishing, so he’s never coming down.”
They were probably sharing different casting methods right now. Not that he could complain – he figured Clover would hit it off with Tai immediately. Similar hobbies aside, they both had easy-going, friendly personalities which tended to blend well with small talk. Knowing he’d also managed to get his shy niece to talk to him so freely was also a bit of a blessing.
But the real problem was the woman currently bumping her shoulder against his. “Fair warning, Tai’s been filling his pocketbook with every fish pun he can think of.”
“And you let him?” He squawked, utterly scandalized.
She replied, completely straight-faced, “They’re reel good.”
Qrow blinked. Blinked again. Deadpanned, “I’m not related to you anymore.”
“Good, get out.”
They glared at one another, the seconds ticking by.
Raven broke first, turning away to hide her smile.
“Hah, I win!” He took a cookie as his trophy.
“Mommy, they’re being dumb again.” He heard Yang murmur.
“Yeah, they’re a buncha dopes.” Though it was meant to be an insult, Summer’s tone was nothing but endearing.
Before Qrow could think of an appropriate comeback, the sound of heavy steps on the stairs and chatter drew attention towards the entryway.
“Then it just smacked me right in the face! I was so shocked it just fell right out of my hands and back in the water.” Tai was saying.
“Well that’s one way to lose a fish.” Clover laughed heartily.
As they entered the room, it was hard to miss the blond’s smirk as he replied, “It’s alright, I’m quite good at catching other types.”
“And dear, what other types are those?” Raven spoke up.
He winked her way. “Types like you babe.”
She looked unimpressed, but Summer started to giggle. “I mean, if you like swordfish.”
“Ut-! Excuse you! I’m a shark.”
Qrow snorted. “A goblin shark, maybe.”
“Careful, you’re in stabbing distance.”
He shifted away, just in case.
Tai was chuckling, nodding to her. “Clover, the shark is my lovely wife Raven and our daughter Ruby.” He waved to the other side of the room. “And this is my other lovely wife, Summer and our daughter Yang.”
“I’m the cook today!” Yang said proudly, brandishing a tiny knife at him. “You better like dinner!”
“Honey, don’t point with the knife. That’s rude.” Summer chastised.
“Oh, sorry.” She set it down to point with a carrot instead. “Now you better like dinner.”
To his credit, Clover managed not to laugh, only saluting her. “Yes ma’am. Thank you for your hard work.”
“Good. If you don’t lie about it, then I like you.” Yang decided before turning back to her work.
Her father pat her on the head as he walked by. “Clover would you like anything? Water? Sweet tea?”
“Water would be wonderful, thank you.” He replied, taking the opportunity to slip over to Qrow’s side.
“So, you’re an Irish lad?” Summer asked.
Qrow winced. He was afraid that would be the first thing she’d dig at. The other woman had been born and raised in Ireland, and had initially only come to the states to study Veterinarian work on an apprenticeship at Cornell Uni. She had had plans to return to her homeland – until she met Raven and Tai, both of whom were also studying at Cornell under a scholarship.
The rest of that incredible and confusing love story Qrow was told through long distance telephone calls while take his own, more modest level courses at UNC Wilmington. He remembered how certain he had been that the two were just pulling his leg the entire time until he actually had Summer standing right in front of him, rather than the ghost of a person his sibling and best friend were feeding him.
He’d liked her immediately. She was funny, quick-witted and extremely compassionate, especially towards animals (“Ravens especially,” she always joked). She was easy to get along with, even if she herself could be a bit meek – but touch anything about her culture with even a hint of pretentious air and a bit of her own brashness would come out as she happily kicked someone down a few pegs.
While trepidation settled in his gut, as inconspicuously as possible, he slid his hand into Clover’s, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
His boyfriend didn’t seem to share his worry, lips only quirking upwards, squeezing his hand back as he answered, “Yeah, on my mom’s side.”
“Did she name you for the shamrock or for the four-leaf clover?”
“The four-leaf.” He took the glass of water as Tai handed it to him, continuing, “I was uh, apparently not expected to make it to term, so my parents always considered me a ‘lucky’ birth. My mother thought naming me Clover was perfect because of that and her heritage. She didn’t know there was a difference. My pa actually told me it started this whole big feud between her and her grandparents because it had offended them so much.”
As they continued to converse, Qrow exhaled softly.
Any air left whooshed out of him as fifty pounds of child thumped against his back. “Uncle Qrooow, this is boring. Can we go play video games?”
“Uh,” He hesitated. He’d never really been one to deny his youngest niece, but he couldn’t just leave his boyfriend to the wolves, so to speak.
A thumb brushed along his knuckles. Clover was still preoccupied by whatever Summer was saying, but he gave him a side-eye and a small smile, before letting his hand go.
Taking that sign, Qrow conceded. “Alright kiddo, jump on.”
“Yes!” She clung to him as he hitched her onto his back and carried her out to the living room, where he let her pick the game.
They jumped around as bubble-blowing dragons until dinner.
~
Qrow liked to think of his vacation mornings as perfectly lazy.
He would roll out of bed maybe at 8 or 9, spend the next twenty minutes milling about sleepily as he took care of his bathroom routine and shuffled through what clothes he wanted to wear. He had it down to an art, wherein he was usually the last to make it downstairs and sometimes no one would see him until after 10. He’d probably benefit from setting at least one alarm so he could enjoy an extra few hours with his family every day – but why fix what wasn’t broken?
Problem was, when his bedmate was 90% of the reason he was staying warm at night and said bedmate was a ridiculously early riser, it was hard to stay asleep longer than twenty minutes past when he’d vacate the space.
So, Qrow found himself shuffling into the kitchen a little after 7, the smell of brewing coffee guiding him to the pot. Everyone else was bound to be awake soon, but for now the only other person in the room was his sister.
“Morning.” She greeted.
“G’mornin’.” He returned, fetching down a mug. “Where’s Clover?”
Raven inclined her head towards the window. “On the dock, somehow not freezing to death.”
He glanced out, seeing the dark outline of his boyfriend sitting right at the edge of the pier, waiting patiently for the sun to rise. He hadn’t even bothered to put on any additional layers, still in the tank top and shorts he’d gone to bed in.
Qrow had a feeling this would be the running theme for the week. With anyone else, he probably would have found it annoying; instead, all he felt was fondness.
The microwave beeping had his eyes pulling away, watching as his sister took out a mug of steaming water. As she steeped her tea, she said, “He’s a real interesting one.”
“Is that a lead in to how you’re about to tell me everything wrong with him?”
“Hmm, well,” She stretched out the word like a car engine getting ready to gun it down the street. “He’s got really stupid hair.”
Here we go. Qrow sighed. Turned away to pour his coffee as he waited.
And waited.
And…
He looked up from the cutlery drawer to her, seeing her watching him with unadulterated amusement. “Wait, that’s it?”
She shrugged. “That’s it.”
“You actually like him?”
“No.” She clipped easily. “He’s a bit too much of a model boy scout type and I think that’s annoying. But, I like the you that you are when you’re with him.”
He went back to his silverware search. “Uh, meaning?”
Raven rolled her eyes. “You’re happier with him, stupid.”
“Hold up.” Qrow waved a spoon in the air, “I’m calling bullshit on that one. I was happy with my other partners before this.”
“You also weren’t any less happy without them. It’s, just different, okay?” She ran a hand through her hair, “Tch, you know I’m not any good at this.”
For as little as his sister was saying though, he could hear the paragraphs hidden in between. She’d been with him his whole life; had seen every stupid decision he’d ever made. Like how he was convinced that Sienna was the love of his life when they were only seventeen and when she ultimately dumped him, he acted like his entire life was over. Or at twenty-one, when he had been so convinced that Roman was The One, he asked him to marry him only six months into their relationship – only to find out the guy had a criminal record. Then there were disasters, like Kimi.  Broken trusts, like Oz. Incompatibilities, like Winter, Robyn, Tukson.
There were joys in all of them – but looking back, he didn’t regret the breaks either.
“Nah, I get it.” Qrow stirred in the sugar. “Guess I’ve had pretty shit luck when it comes to relationships, huh?”
“It all went to the better twin.” She joked back, holding up her tea to cheer herself before taking a sip.
“Oh, mom and dad found a long-lost triplet?”
He only laughed when she smacked his arm, ducking away before she could potentially continue her assault, taking his coffee with him. Her call of “Jerk!” followed him as he slipped out the back door. They may have found it unbearable at times to live with each other, but it was comforting to know she still looked out for him. He would thank her later.
For now though, he walked the length of the porch, following the stone path that gave way to wood and finally ended at Clover.
“Didn’t expect to see you up so early.” He greeted as Qrow sat down beside him.
He took a sip of the coffee before setting the mug down on the post next to him. “Well, my space heater left, so I came looking for it.”
“Sorry about that.” Clover wound an arm across his shoulders, drawing him in. “Better?”
He looked out across the lake, where the water was reflecting the colors of the lightening sky. Took in the horizon breathing in a new day, welcoming them to experience it together.
Qrow melted against the other, sincerely vowing, “It’s perfect.”

Patriarchal Prison Break Finale
[Atlas Bakery]
*Whitley and Ruby sit outside patio. They sit under an umbrella as it lightly snows. It’s a little cold since it’s night, yet strangely they feel pretty warm.*
Ruby:*Quietly eating a sandwich with a small mountain of pastries beside her.*.......
Whitley:*has a cocoa and a sandwich. He’s barely eating though*.......
(Why is it so hard to speak?)
Whitley:(Say something, anything. Is this was Winter was talking about-)
Ruby:You’re freezing.....
Whitley:*jolts up* Huh?
Ruby:You’re food, you’re freezing it. *points to his plate*
*a glyph spins underneath it making ice creep over it His drink frozen solid*
Whitley:*red* Oh....
Ruby:Also..... *taps her now frozen danish on the table* I’m pretty sure this was freshly baked hehehe.
Whitley:(God damnit!) *tries wiping it off* Well this definitely isn’t my finest moment.
Ruby:*intriguied* I’ve never seen Weiss accidentally use her semblance before.
Whitley:She’s had a lot more practice; any little thing used to set it off for her. I guess my mind sort of wondered a bit.
Ruby:*small smile* Gee if I didn’t notice sooner then I really would’ve had cold cuts. (Why did I say that? Only Yang would say something that horrible...)
Whitley:.....I’m sorry.
Ruby:(Now he’s sulking!) Don’t worry about it. It was just a joke and I probably won’t finishing eating all of-
Whitley:Not the food.....I meant for what I said; all of it.
Ruby:Oh....that.....
Whitley:*staring at his reflection in the ice* I let my father get the better of me. Then I ended up making you cry in the process all because I was too scared to speak against him. So, I’m sorry.
Silence falls in between them. Ruby just sits there examining him as he continues to stare at the ice. He’s trying to hide it but he’s shaking; crisp air would be easy to pin the blame on but she knows better than that. Usually it’s her suppressing fear and anxiety; it’s odd seeing it on someone else. Weiss’s description of him was right on the money.
Ruby:....I’m sorry too. About my reaction.
Whitley:Huh? Why would you be sorry about that? I had it coming and-
Ruby:I was being selfish....
Whitley:....... *looking at her*
Ruby:All my life I’ve grown up doing the most noble because that’s how I was raised. It comes natural to me. You and even Weiss when I met her have an entirely different mentality. It’s not that you don’t want to do the noble or most honest thing; both of you raised to follow what your dad said despite the feelings you had. I might have had a right to be upset with you, but I shouldn’t have expected you to so easily overcome something that’s been apart of your upbringing just because of me. So I’m sorry too, I didn’t consider your feelings.
Whitley:......Ruby you’re amazing.
Ruby:*blushing* I’m sorry what?
Whitley:It’s just...most people would just let someone apologize and listen to them admit their mistakes. Not you though, instead you apologize too and decide to find your own faults. Never seen someone do that before.
Ruby:*rubs her head* I’m just being fair is all. Like I said, it was a bit rude of me to think I’m enough to make such a big problem change for you.
Whitley:Well....*looks back at the ice as his face gets red* I think you’re more than enough....
Ruby:.......*heart skips a beat*
It has to be easily below zero at this point. Yet for some reason this moment feels hot enough to thaw all the snow around them.
Ruby:Uhhh Whitley? *grabs his hand, causing him to jump*
Whitley:Y...Yes?
Ruby:I don’t mean to spring this on you so suddenly, but with everything that’s happened I think I got lost with where we stand. Wha...what are we exactly?
*the table freezes over, but the two don’t seems to notice*
Whitley:Oh...that’s uhh, that’s a good question. You see it would be nice if- *shakes his head* What I mean to say is I really want you to be my-
*click*
Instinctively the two whip their head around to spot someone with a very expensive camera. No doubt he got a perfect picture even with the weather they’re in. As quickly as he was spotted, he was gone.
Whitley:Sigh, the paparazzi never rest do they. He picked a good a good moment too *looks at Ruby’s hand still on his*
Ruby:*immediately removes it* Of all of the no good.....! Ugh, I’m so stupid! Here I am getting all emotional in public with you and now I made things worse for you! That stupid reporter is probably gonna have an entire essay about that day photo; your dad is-
Whitley:It’s fine.....
Ruby:What?
Whitley:It’s fine, I sort of expected this to happen. We are outside so it’s not surprising.
Ruby:...Why are you so calm? You know what will happen when you get home.
Whitley:*takes a deep breath* Yeah....it’s unavoidable. Guess we shouldn’t prolong it then huh? *gets up and grabs her hand* shall we?
Ruby:Oh, okay. (He’s strangely confident; I like it.
[Schnee Manor]
Weiss and Winter watching the news and just enjoying each other’s company. Like clockwork, their brother is already back in the miserable limelight.
Ruby:*Walking in* Hey, we’re ba- are you serious!? It’s only been like 40 minutes!
Weiss:Any news about the Schnee’s is breaking news.
Ruby:You people are seriously that important?
Winter:We keep this entire place floating essentially. So yeah, we’re that important. Our money is anyways.
Whitley:*walks in and notices the tv* 40 minutes huh? They’re getting slow; guess the camera guy got stuck in the snow.
Ruby:(This family is just....wow.) I wonder if Jacq-
“WHITLEY! MY OFFICE, NOW!”
.........
Everyone’s face loses a bit of color as the room suddenly feels colder than outside. Winter herself even tenses up for a moment before relaxing. The two sisters unknowingly freeze up the floor a bit.
Ruby:He sounds mad...
“He’s always mad...”
Whitley:*walks off slowly*
Ruby:Is he...gonna be alright?
Winter:That’s up to him honestly. Atlas wasn’t built in a day, but this situation is a bit different.
Ruby:How so?
Weiss:Because he’ll have all the help he wants right here wai-
Ruby:*walks down the hall*
Weiss:Sigh, she just can’t help herself can she?
[Office]
Whitley:*standing in the center*.......
Jacques:*walks up to him* I see you got to be in the news again; unexpectedly, you’re with girl again. So what’s the excuse behind this incident.
Whitley:.....I don’t have one father. I wanted to make amends with her and-
*a swift hand finds itself firmly across the right side of his face, silencing him and leaving a red mark*
Whitley:......
Jacques:Your behavior as of late has been extremely disappointing. It’s clear I’ve been too lenient with you just like your sisters. I now know that-
Whitley:Lenient? Is that what you call micromanaging my life? You talk like you haven’t made every single decision in my life!
Jacques:Young man, watch your tone with me or-
Whitley:OR WHAT!? YOU’ll HIT ME!!? Are you gonna give the title of heir to some secret child no one knows about!?
Jacques:Whitley so help me if you don’t-
Whitley:LISTEN TO ME FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE!!!! *shaking with frustration*
Jacques:......
Whitley:I have done everything you’ve ever asked me! From learning countless extra curricular subjects about running a business, to being your personal “yes” man at every ridiculous event you drag me to! Yet it feels like I can’t even breathe without your permission, or see you without it being about my “mistakes.” Do you know you’ve never told me at any point you were proud of me; or any of your kids for that matter? It’s hard to believe Weiss and Winter “just weren’t up to the task of owning the company.” They’re far stronger than I am. You made me heir because you think I’m the weakest; that you can trap me in this prison of a home!
Jacques:You’re acting ridiculous! Having a tantrum all because of some girl!
Whitley:Her name is Ruby, you’d know that if you ever actually payed attention to Weiss or me. I bet you don’t even know where she is right now do you?
Jacques:....
Whitley:*shakes his head* You are unbelievable. It’s not even worth explaining to you. If it doesn’t involve money you might as well be deaf. I can’t believe I used to want to be even be a little bit like you. Could’ve used that time be more like my sisters; or fix the mom you broke. *walking away*
Jacques:*grits teeth* WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING!?
Whitley:I’m going anywhere I want and finally make my own choices. You don’t have to worry about me doing anything stupid or ruin my family name; from here on out you’re an afterthought.
Jacques:So you think you have all the answers now?
Whitley:Not even close. I just know when I need help I have people that actually care about me that I can rely on. From my sisters, Klein, the friends I’ll make, and my girlfriend. So you have the choice to get with the program or get out of my way.
Jacques:......Whitley, get out of my office.
Whitley:See you at the next company meeting. *leaves*
Jacques:.....*hits his desk* Damnit.....
Whitley:*shaking from fear and adrenaline* Sigh......huh?
*Ruby standing in front of him, trying to keep a smile in check in favor for a more calm look*
Whitley:This seems familiar. *smiles*
Ruby:It does, a little more of a happy ending this time around in my opinion.
Whitley:What would’ve happened if it ended up basically the same?
Ruby:*takes his hand* I might have been disappointed for sure but I would’ve been patient. “Atlas wasn’t built in a day.”
Whitley:Hehe honestly it’s still not built . That was emotionally exhausting. I think I need a minute. *leans on the wall* future conversations are going to suck.
Ruby:*leans on the wall too* Soooooo girlfriend? Who’s that? *wiggling eyebrows*
Whitley:*chuckles* Just this girl I really, really like. I might be getting ahead of myself since I don’t know quite how she feels. I’m new to this, anxious, dorky, and completely playing this by ear. For all I know she doesn’t like- *pulled into a quick kiss*......
Ruby:*moves her hair out here face* Ummm she really....really likes you too. *blushing*
Whitley:*blushing*Oh...that’s good to know. Now then, are you two going to come from around the corner?
Weiss:*darts out and hugs him* I’m proud of you....
Whitley:*hugging her tight* I learned from the best.
Winter:*walks up to him* So, you didn’t freeze this time huh?
Whitley:Nope, I had some since slapped into me. *rubbing his face* Also a sister with really good advice.
Winter:*puts him on her back and walks* Let’s go get you patched up. Then maybe we can spend some time....finally knowing each other.
Whitley:That, sounds really nice.
Weiss:We’ll catch up. Ruby now has to learn what I expect from her end of the relationship. Last thing I need is another person addicted to cookies.
Ruby:Sigh.......... see you later?
Whitley:I hope so. *smiles*
Ruby:*blushing* (definitely like the confidence)
Weiss:Ahem!
Ruby:Sorry! I’m paying attention!
Winter:One more thing, we’ve never seen you as weak. You’re just as strong as Weiss and I. Never question that.
Whitley:......Is that right? Hehe *sniff* Geez, this bruise really hurts...
Winter:*smirking*.......I bet it does.
Whitley:Thank you.....*tears run down his face.
Winter:Don’t mention it. That’s what big sisters are for right?
