Regarding Corps/Corpse pronunciation: corps and corpse come from the same root word (Latin "corpus" which means "body") but "corpse," pronounced with the P, made it's way to English via Middle English pronunciations of the French word "corps," wherein they started pronouncing the P (because you don't in French). The word "corps," pronounced "core" like an apple core or the first syllable in "correct" came directly to English from French via Napoleon's military influence, and it kept the original pronunciation. So the two worda have the exact same root and even same origin story but one got manhandled by the English before coming out the other side, while the other got imported directly from France.
So:
Corps = a military body = "corr"
Corpse = a dead body = "corps"

With the release of Scara's drip marketing, I cant help but imagine him just wandering Teyvat and keeping his lover's letter with him. When he found it, the ending implied that he wanted to ascend to godhood so he can forsake his mortal emotions. However, after it didnt work out as he hoped and he gains an anemo vision, I wonder how he would feel about it all now? You also implied reincarnation au so what if after decades of wandering, the star-crossed lovers finally meet again??

Scaramouche fidgets with his Anemo vision more often than not, placed over his heart, a reminder of something that was finally his. More importantly, your final letter is kept carefully tucked underneath the vision as well. Sometimes, during the night he carefully reopens the letter to read it, the fold marks deeply imprinted at this point, yet there is no other damage to it. It seems that the letter has been painstakingly taken care of.
He thinks back to how he tried to erase his past, to erase you. He was foolish to do so (something the God of Dendro reaffirmed) but the pain of your early departure threw all reason out the window. You deserve an apology, he thinks. But you were no longer here for him to do so, something that he is all too aware of, as the nightmares still cut him open some days.
(But, while Scaramouche was under Nahida's care, she blessed him with sweet dreams whenever he had nightmares. She did not know who or what he dreamed of, but she assumed it must be someone he holds very dear, from the fact his face became peaceful in an instant.)
Often times he also wonders how you’d react to his Anemo vision. It would be so much easier for you to travel - he would just hold you and control the wind to levitate. Scaramouche imagines the wind blowing your hair all crazily as you gasp down at how high the two of you were up. He would summon a gust of air to throw all of your wet clothes into the air to dry and then make you beg for him to release them. He would-
He quickly sat up and began to get ready for the day again. Going down that path of longing again wasn’t going to be any good for him. He had been wandering Teyvat for decades, experiencing what every nation had to offer, indulging in his freedom. The traveler had been long gone from this world, so he did not have many close connections anymore.
Though, as much as he hated to admit it, the Dendro Archon had become… somewhat of a familial figure to him. So when she sent him a letter, beckoning him to come back to Sumeru for a visit, he was inclined to listen. What’s more, he was intrigued by the last sentence - ‘There’s someone here I think you’d want to meet.’
Port Ormos was still lively, the hustle and bustle had become somewhat comforting to him. He walked through the city, drinking in the familiar scent of delicious cuisine, and the rhythmic footsteps of dancers and singers. Scaramouche made his way to where Nahida was, more interested than ever to see what she wanted.
“Oh, I see you made it, Wanderer!” Her soft and welcoming voice did not change even after all the years. “How has your travel been? Eye-opening, I hope?”
The two chatted for a bit before Nahida smiled at him. “The person I told you about is about to come. But, you have to promise me you won’t do anything rash, okay?”
Scaramouche looked at her with a mixture of confusion and suspicion but agreed nonetheless. A soft knock on the door drew his attention. But what made him become still was the familiar voice that resonated from beyond the door.
No. No. It couldn’t be. Nahida glanced at him. “Come in!”
And there you were. The same curl of your lips when you were smiling nervously, the habit of yours to flip your eyes to his face and then the floor.
“Um… hello there. Lesser Lord Kusanali has informed me that you’ll be my partner for the daycare that’s recently been built. I hope we can get to know each other better!”
For the first time in archons knows when the surprise he felt was hard to shake. His chest started to pulse as emotion twisted up inside of him.
“Hello…?”
“Ah, sorry about that. He’s just a little out of it today. Could you wait outside for a bit? He’ll come to meet you there.”
“O-oh. Of course, Lesser Lord Kusanali,” you nodded your head and quickly scurried out of the room.
“That… that was, they’re really… back. They’re here,” the miracle had the puppet choked up. Tears began to well up and he stubbornly rubbed them away. He had somewhat grown to accept this feeling. After all, you were the only person who could invoke it now.
Nahida rubbed his back and comforted him. “I know. As soon as I heard of them, I knew it was the one you loved from so long ago. Please, spend as much time as you want here and with them. You deserve it.”
He quietly thanked her and got up to find you. The feeling that he had once forsaken, the one that made his face warm and chest stir, began to rise within him again…

It’s been so long since I’ve sent an ask in, i fear the kids will think we’re in a divorce. So today I came to offer up a situation I believe in 1000%.
Jackie Taylor in college not knowing how to flirt with women, so whenever she meets you for the first time she doesn’t know how to talk to you. She ends up buying those stupid men’s pickup artist CDs, the like late 2000s type. She believes it completely and thinks that this is how you get girls and buys like the whole box set. It comes with douche clothes, a small notebook of pickup lines and a huge textbook along with like 10 CDs. Literally any normal person would know these lines and tactics would absolutely not work, but she’s convinced herself. So she tries approaching you in a bar and when you don’t follow the script that the pickup artist said you’d respond with, she gets nervous. She pulls out and skims through the pages of a huge book that in VERY bold letters on the front reads, ‘HOW TO GET WOMEN’
She eventually gives up on the textbook after she sees the weird look you gave her upon seeing it. Just ends up taking a bar napkin and writing “Do you like me?” With 2 options below that read “Yes” and “YES”. She’s looking at you like she’s so proud of herself that you cant help but circle the option in all caps. (She thinks that means you’re dating, immediately)

the way that little book is the only thing jackie's taking notes on before she got to college. she bombed her first exam and is like "omg how do you study in college???" and then looked at her 10 pages of notes from "chicks 101" and a lightbulb lit up
jackie has the best pickup lines written down and her phone and keeps checking the notes app as shes walking towards you (walks into a pole). forgets them immediately the second she starts talking to you (you talked first and she forgot what she crammed) but refuses to admit it and tries it anyways. completely flips the line around. like "you're the only ten i see, are you from tennessee?" and immediately winces.
screams into her pillow atleast once a week. did not realize that flirting with girls would be so fucking hard. no one tells you this thing. she almost misses when she thought she was straight. the shit was soooo easy. she's so good at flirting with boys that she's still pulling them without even trying.
also jackie for fucking sure memorizes how she wants conversations to go in general when she's nervous about something i feel and the second someone goes off script she's like "hold on now". has to schedule a doctors appointment for the first time and they ask her a question she didn't have written down and she hangs up (they needed her middle name. she makes shauna call them from rhode island lmaoo.).
peering over jackie's shoulder and she's got 20 tabs open all along the lines of "how to kiss", "how to tell her i like her", "how to flirt with women when you look straight", "how to be her friend in a gay way", "lesbian. girl pretty. help"
jackie does NOT believe in situationships. what do you mean you're not in love with her??? you went on three dates?? she secretly sprayed her perfume on your pillow when you were in the bathroom and everything. yahoo answers swore it would make you fall in love with her
side note jackie immediately hard launches you after one date. queen. writing mrs jackie taylor in all her notebooks for sure. calling shauna up like "i found the one" and shaunas like "...where is she from?". "unimportant. anyways so on our date..."

A (transphobe, if you cant figure this out from the rad fem rhetoric) proponent of the belief that all women can be lesbians regardless of sexual orientation by identifying as a “woman-identified woman”, aka thst the woman’s focuses are on the needs and emotions of other women. This belief is A core component of the lesbian separatist movement began in the 1970s, which should be pinging alarm bells. This is the organization that believes women’s bisexuality , MY sexuality, is inherently anti-feminist because of the implied desire for penetration, sexual dominance, and submission. This woman stated that women due to their socialization could not ever freely “choose” to enter a hetero relationship, that coercion was ever-present. Her words imply bisexual women (and others socialized as girls while growing up) have inherent lack of agency, erasing the freedom and truth of our love for what can be perceived as straight relationships. Ti Grace Atkinson said “ feminism is a theory, lesbianism is a practice.” Lesbian separatists take this to mean Feminism is the theory and lesbianism is the practice, reflecting an assumption that lesbianism is the purest and most desirable manifestation of feminism, and that bisexuality thus is sullied and impure. Compulsory heterosexuality was coined by a TERF for the inherent purpose of invalidating bisexual and transgender women, as both run up against the terf ideology that all men are bad, that all relations with amabs are bad, that amabs are rapists in disguise and abusers on the prowl and to sleep with a man or anyone that could have been a man taints you. Bisexuality has always been transinclusionary. Those who exclude the one tend to exclude the other. terf theory should not be your bedrock of queer or feminist theory. What hurts one letter hurts us all.
S. Young’s “ Breaking silence about the B word“ has a fantastic paragraph about coming out as a lesbian and learning from other lesbians that my sexuality was considered a copout, that bisexuals were treasonous and would run back to men and leave the lesbians behind, that only lesbians had an anti-patriarchal sexuality, that we were buying into sexism by being bisexual. while gay men do not seem to view bisexuals as sleeping with the enemy as strongly as lesbians view us, there is still the presumption that a bisexual man is just trying to hold onto heterosexual privilege.  these views are not absent from fandom spaces.
Bisexuality is treated as a transitional category, as experimenting, as promiscuity, as being a liar and a cheat. To reduce every bisexual character you come across, to force them to “pick a side”, to comment on ship art of characters like John and Vriska as “generic boring and straight”, to similarly comment on art of characters like Vriska and Terezi as “lesbian favs”, to insist it is homophobic or lesbphobic when people push back against this categorization- this is cruel. This is biphobic. This is bisexual erasure. Andrew Hussie, no matter what you think of him, was very clear. They wrote a story in which an entire species is bisexual “by default”- where Kanaya is the only troll in a set of 12 to have a mono sexuality (albeit, while still displaying biromantic tendencies, at least in the ashen quadrant). Whatever issues you have with Vriska and Eridan viewing relationships with eachother and others (Terezi, Tavros, Kanaya) (Feferi) via the lense of their ancestors, that does not erase their bisexuality. (Vriska) canonically dated killed-by-Terezi!John , and followed it up with an albeit unhealthy relationship with Meenah. Vriska had a celebrity crush on nic cage, implied she was attracted to Karkat, and had a relationship with Terezi. Eridan flirted indiscriminatorily with most of his friends of both genders. Gamzee’s infamous flirtations with Tavros and relationship with Terezi exists. So does Roxy’s pursuit of Dirk and her insistence that Jane is hot. Dave pursued relationships with Terezi and Karkat, Davesprite dated Jade. Karkat caught feelings for Jade, John, Dave, Terezi. I could go on but i will not- there are many bisexual characters in homestuck, after all.
Many people view bisexuality as not committing, as not picking between “us” and “them”, as having “passing privileges” by finding an opposite gender partner. We are experiencing a time of great unrest. Do not return to the days of isolating aspects of the community, of infighting that weakens us. You see what rhetoric is being used against the transgender community, against anyone who dares to do drag, to break the binary boxes. Bisexuality breaks boxes too, by daring to love our own gender and other genders. By being unapologetically attracted regardless of sex. Fandom biphobia is nothing so serious as real world oppression, sure. You could say it is just another pin prick. But each pin prick makes me bleed. And I only have so much blood to give.
I see many musicians irl reduced to straight women or gay men when they have repeatedly expressed bisexuality. This is cruel. This is biphobic. This is not the move from inside the community i want to see. For young queer kids online, those experiences will shape them as much as bisexuals being kicked out of the gay organizations does those who are old enough to join one. Homestuck helped me understand I was allowed to be bisexual- i thought bisexuality didn’t really exist, especially not for women, when i was 13. If my first experience with homestuck had been being told vriska is a lesbian and is only compulsive about perusing boys, i would have never understood what i was feeling, because my crushes on boys as a kid, my relationship with men as an adult, those were not and are not a sign of being coerced by society. These feelings do not deminish or delegitimization my attraction to women. To say such a thing is to take away my agency, to reduce me to either an experimental straight girl or a lesbian who is “just confused”- the latter of which is rhetoric transmen and asexuals have aimed at them. This is a biphobic world you have been raised in. All i ask is that you do not impose the rheotric of a biphobic transphobic “feminist” on characters and people like me. This a shitty rant, but i needed to say it.

The boys learning each others languages
Jiang (Chinese/Korean)
K struggling to speak Chinese but Swan is great at it
Jiang constantly having to correct Skov on the inflections in Chinese
Swan helping Proko with the alphabet in Korean cause he can't for the life of him wrap his head around it
Skov and K arguing about certain Korean words whilst Jiang sits back knowing both of them are wrong
Proko genuinely tears up when Jiang passes him a list of basic words in Chinese
K laughs at him
Jiang comforts him and says he doesn't have to learn Chinese
Skov says its not fair and get hit in the eye with an eraser
Swan can hold basic convos in Chinese with Jiang but cant read it
Skov learns as many insults as he can in both Korean and Chinese
everyone gets excited when they finally recognise some of the words Jiang says to his mum on call
They all agree to collectively throw Chinese out the window and just learn Korean
Kavinsky (Bulgarian)
They all know a few words due to Kav blasting Bulgarian rap all the time
All of them (except Jiang) know/ understand the Cyrillic alphabet
Skov learns all the swear words first
Swan is ready to punch him
Proko learns the history behind the language and ends up learning old 12-16th century words
K is ready to punch him
Jiang stared at the alphabet for a solid 5 mins in confusion

K downloads (in a totally legal way. yup.) primary school lessons for Jiang
J actually uses them
Its one of the easier languages they learn together

Skov starts by teaching them how to cuss someone out RIGHT in Ukranian

K says its far too easy (he forgets simple words)
Proko learns the history behind it again
he also learns the national anthem on a dare and hums it to himself often
Skov is a shit teacher
Swan takes over
Jiang thanks him endlessly
Kav switches the tv subtitles over to Ukrainian and they all realise its way easier to learn a language like that
Proko now knows exactly how to argue back with Skov and everyone is ready to bury them both
along with Bulgarian, Ukrainian is the easiest language they learn
Proko (Russian/Belarusian)
we all what Skov is going to do by now (he already knows a lot of swears in Russian)
Proko does a crash course in the history of the languages and their roots/links to other slavic languages
everyone is actually interested
K becomes obsessed with Russian pop and rap songs
Jiang is getting really good at Slavic languages now and he's really proud of himself (the others are too)
Swan excels at both as usual (smart motherfucker)
Jiang finds himself using Russian the most out of all their languages (except his own ofc)
Skov prefers using Russian cuss words cause he says they sound more aggressive
Proko and Skov decided to put different anime and cartoons into Russian dub and couldn't stop laughing and trying to copy it
K was unimpressed
Jiang asks Proko to teach him the history behind the other slavic languages they've learned
Belarussian is used less frequently between them all but they hear it from Proko when his dad calls
K learns Belarussian first cause he likes Prokos dad
Swan (English/French/Quechua)
Swan helps the boys in English class with essays and such
Proko and Jiang mix up their grammar sometimes and Swan helps correct them
K likes to ask him what random words mean, he thinks it annoys him but Swan enjoys teaching

Its the easiest language they learn, but they almost never use it except with Swans mother
Swan only speaks Quechua with his dad (his dad is from Peru)
He refuses to teach the boys Quechua

i'll be honest, i haven't read toa (only short snippets when i want to see a specific scene), so i just read this article abt it, and it's frustrating that almost every example of diversity rick includes is riddled w harmful stereotypes. like, google is right there to help you avoid at least some! (psa to anyone else reading this, google "harmful [x] stereotypes" before making a character you're unfamiliar with!) the wwii stuff...rereading the series again like two years ago shocked me bc i had completely erased the entire plotline from my memory as a kid. some of these choices have me questioning the editors at the time, bc there were definitely things an editor should've pointed out if they were reading the full text.
your power! lmao but that behavior is exactly what makes it so difficult to give rick real feedback. i know some fans claim the older fandom is too cynical, but if we've been trying to give the same advice for years it's going to get old fast. every good change is accompanied by something else (especially noticeable in how percy is treated), so it always feels double-edged. but i'm glad you said this actually bc i didn't know he specified allo-ace! i had assumed he said aro-ace, but that actually makes the way ppl behave abt lesbians identifying w reyna more alarming...regardless i'm glad he's including ace rep bc it's rare, but the way reyna and the hunters were handled is...confusing at best.

I'm going to say some very brief things about modern Flatland computers, because I don't even understand how Planiturth computers work. [I'm learning programming, NOT electronics]
The computer itself is a rectangle [in this case actually an irregular pentagon to fit with the screen] with some holes for additional devices' cables like printers, microphone, speakers and anglephones, and a square shaped pocket for storage devices like chips and peridisks [their equivalent of USBs, the chips are older and square shaped, and the peridisks are polygonal]
The computer has one or two antenna and a connection to electricity. And a good thing about artificial things is that they can have plenty of holes.
The interesting part of the computer is the screen. This is connected to the computer itself through wire attached to the screen chip.
[A: Screen chip]
This is the large rectangle at the back or north of the screen monitor. It reads the information that the computer sends to it [messages from the internet, for example] and releases the keys needed to write the message on the screen. It also reads the input given by the user [for example, writing a reply] translates it into computer-language and sends it to the computer to do whatever it needs to do with it.
[B: Screen keys]
These are the needles directly below/south of the chip. They have springs underneath. They write words and rudimentary images [example in first image where on the right side of the screen there seems to be a Square's angle] for the user to see, by extending the springs in such a way that the needles poke the screen [which is not completely rigid but a somewhat malleable material] creating a certain relief or bump along with a brightness depending on how hard the key presses against the screen [harder or more vertically expanded= brighter] or extends its tip [extends it horizontally, creating bigger angles the more it expands]
This is usually used as output only, but in some cases such as in a menu, the user may press the bumps to select an option.
The first computers had less thick screens because they didn't need keys. They were exclusively designed for Circles and employed only Brightness. It appears that this new model is not only more accessible for those who do not have Sight Recognition, but also cheaper.
[C: Stylus]
Also known as cursor. This is used to write on the screen. Some people with acute angles may be able to write with their own angle, but for the wider-angled this is easier to use.
The screen is able to pick up on the indentation made on it and read it as text.
[D: Enter and Delete]
These two buttons can have different functions depending on context. In reading mode they can be used as arrows to scroll through long text that doesn't fit on the screen. In newer computers that come with a Scroller, these can take different functions such as copying text. In writing mode they can be Enter [to signal you're done writing] or Delete [to erase the last letter]
[E: Mode button]
The mode button allows the computer screen to change modes- usually between Input or 'writing' mode [where you can use your stylus to write text or give orders to the computer] and Output or 'reading' mode [where the computer displays what you need].
Usually the change is immediate and automatic, like if you just ordered the computer to open tumblr it will switch into Reading mode instantly. But it can be useful if you're in a messaging app and want to switch between reading your friend's message and writing a new reply, etc.
[F: Scroller]
The Scroller is a new addition to Flatland computers, and similar to a computer mouse in Planiturth. It is connected to the screen by a cable and consists of a circle with more than half of it enclosed in a shell with 2 buttons. The circle can't pop out of its shell. The circle is the scroller itself, rolling it will scroll through the screen's output text if it's very long. It has the Enter and Delete buttons on it.

what do you mean "erasing lilith's identity"? what identity do you mean? she's not real, she doesnt have an identity. she is a fake person, a character in your head made up by dana and the crew. how am i supposed to erase the identity of a nonexistant vague, inconsistent cloud of concepts, traits and ideas with infinitely many interpretations? lilith is letters in a script and lines on a drawing tablet, shes just a way to express a specific part of an art piece/story. lilith cant get sad or hurt if somebody writes a fanfiction where she has a romantic dinner with hooty. she is not there, she is not real.
im not even talking abt her asexuality or anything (love all u ace ppl btw //platonic//, ur all epic and cool and my close friend opening up abt being ace inspired me to open up and live true to myself and my queerness), its just the fact that you talk about made up collections of vague concepts to convey a story device as if its like a real, breathing human person with feelings and emotions, that you can hurt, someone who has a real identity, its so incredibly odd and concerning.
that being said, you can make the argument that telling a story in which lilith's character is not ace erases the experiences of real ace ppl, which i personally would disagree with, because nothing abt ppl using their own interpretation of a character takes away from you, or even stops you from telling stories through your lense, experience and interpretation of the character.
storytelling and art is highly personal, and taking away ppls ability to express themselves and their stories through a specific lense and character is a lot more real and consequential, i think.

woah where do you get those shirt designs? since you took pete’s and i remember you copied joe’s shirt where do you find them? are the designs just floating on the web or do you have to recreate it?

I recreated the designs in Photoshop!! I have very minimal Photoshop skills and am not artistically inclined at all and only have my shitty Macbook thats like 8 years old and cant even run some of the tools in Photoshop so theres probably a better way to do it but.
With Joe's shirt, I was able to find a better photo of the shirt online to work with because the video was so grainy. But I just used the photo of Pete I posted for the Decaydance records one.
Then I focused in on the logo and used a combination of puppet warp and copying and pasting less messed up letters or parts of letters from other parts of the image using the marquee tool — for example, with the Pretty Girls Make Graves shirt the V needed to be fixed but there wasn't another V so i used parts of the A.
Other tools I used included: the healing brush to erase any letters I was covering up, and the magic eraser to clean up other pixels I didn't want around the letters if that makes sense 😅. With the PGMG shirt, I also used lighten/darken and the brush tool to make the letters look better and less warped since there were so many unique letters, but this was extremely hard and didn't look great, so I tried to avoid it unless absolutely necessary.
Then I messed with the hue and other things like contrast and lighten/darken to make the logo more or less the color I wanted and then I made the background transparent. I'm not very good at this yet, but there are sites that do it automatically online.
I think the transparent background is a very important step. Otherwise I think the sites will just screenprint the background around the logo as well and the texture and look will be off— I've never tried it, but I'm almost certain this would happen. When you are doing anything transparent in Photoshop you MUST export as a .png or it won't actually be transparent.
Then it wasn't perfect so I cleaned it up using magic eraser and altering the brightness and black/white levels. I had to test it a few times using the site i wanted to use and keep cleaning it up by altering the black point and brightness to get rid of messiness around the letters and making the photo transparent again.
I would imagine if you had a tablet or were artistically inclined or better at photoshop it would be easier to do all of this but it only took me a couple hours. The PGMG shirt took a lot longer because I didn't know what I was doing but the Decaydance shirt only took like two or three. They aren't perfect but whatever.
Also I don't have a desire to sell these and I only made them because the PGMG shirt has not been sold in decades. I have been looking for one unsuccessfully for 7 years and have only been able to find old listings. I had to start using Photoshop for my job about a year ago and then I realized I could just "make" my own. When I recreated this shirt I thought it was Smiths merch but apparently its for a band actually called PGMG.
Anyway, Pete said the Decaydance shirt was hand embroidered with actual spider silk by enslaved child unicorns in Switzerland or something and was therefore too expensive to sell to people who don't play golf like its their job and own thousands of pairs of custom designer sneakers, but due to overwhelming demand he was “looking into it.” But that was 5 years ago. Also one of the Cs being the champion logo was so, so fucking ugly and reeked of jock energy so I yassified it.

All throughout Order of the Pheonix, i swear that sirius and the weasly twins wrote letters to each other. Like, imagine Sirius at grimmuld place sidling up to fred and george before the summer ends.
"i hear the two of you enjoy the odd prank?" he mutters as molly's back is turned. For a few moments, the twins' smiles erase all memories of azkaban. They looked like james, he thinks, nostalgia blooming deep in his chest. Sirrius pushes this down. If mischief is to be managed, he cant linger on the past.
So the weasleys head off to school. They plot and plan, much the same as usual, but this time they have help. One a week (sometimes twice) a tawny owl pecks at their dormitory window. It brings new spells, potions, the ideas for new pranks, and once even modified dungbombs (the dungeons smell of marmite for weeks - some love it, some hate it). The first letter sirius sends is signed Messr Padfoot. The twins stared at it for a few bewildered seconds, before realisation and awe broke across their faces in wide grins.
And when Umbridge (that cow) begins searching the mail, sirius teaches the twins the charm the marauders had used on the map. Oh how Umbridge fumes as the otherwise blank letters spew insult after insult at that pudgy face.
A few times, another name appears at the foot of the page "Messr Moony" in neat curled lettering. On these particular letters, Fred and Goerge notice the gramma has been corrected a number of times, and that the margins are edited with suggestions for shortcuts for wandwork or pronunciation. The tone in which Messr Moony writes is suspiciously similar to that of an old teacher they'd once had.
Though he won't admit it, it's these letters that get Sirius through his confinement at grimmuld place. Sirius and his Moony sit down most nights to plan a new prank or spell the twins could put to use. And almost, just almost, with the fire crackling and Bowie spinning on the turntable, if sirius closes his eyes, he can pretend james is lounging across from him ruffling that godammned hair, or marlene locked in a vicious battle of chess with peter. Or that everything was just as it had been.

If vecna is eating/hiding memories to weaken will such as his birthday and mike meeting him at the swings, then Nancy's "Jonathan who?" from the 8flix script makes more sense? Especially since Steve has gone back to his crush on Nancy, saying their break up was over him being "immature" which is.... a take??? But hardly the main take? What break up is he talking about, because I assumed it was s2's with barb's parents but perhaps he meant s1 when he was, in fact, not mature (but he grew out of that, doesn't he remember??)
Vecna even showed her the barb memory he had, he might have kept some of it or other parts to himself.
So everyone's been forgetting will's birthday but vecna might be attacking the whole byers family AND the wheelers, since mike seems to always be in his way with El and will, why not Nancy and Jonathan as well? (ALSO JONATHANS DREAM COLLEGE WASNT EVEN THE SAME AS NANCY'S AND WE KNOW JOYCE KNOWS IT BUT SHE DIDN'T SEEM TO BE THINKING ABOUT THAT VERY MUCH OTHER THAN JONATHAN'S ACCEPTANCE LETTER AND JONATHAN DIDN'T BRING THIS UP EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT IT WASN'T HIS DREAM)
Eleven might think mike was lying in his declaration and he might have been (because he can only remember the meeting with her at that point and he even forgot meeting will in the swings so he literally only remembers his life from the moment he met el? As if his life literally started there because what came before was taken?) and is it possible that she also doesn't remember memories with him so she had nothing to remember during his speech? He had nothing to say except his feelings that might or might not be true but because he had few memories available to him, he had to make the most of what he had and he had nothing (and perhaps a declaration of platonic love that he was sure she wouldn't want right now). As for El, as much as she was upset, nothing came to her mind?? Her first friend? Maybe she was that upset, understandable, but also maybe she had memories taken as well?? Did she manage to keep all of them somehow or did she also lose them? She did have a bunch of secret memories brenner had to trauma induce out of her
And idk how this factors into this but lucas told Max she didn't disappear he just didn't look hard enough, like, maybe those memories are in fact available but only if you look as hard as Lucas did, and them being related to traumatic things, even if they are good, perhaps they don't want to look, like El? Max's memories were still all there once everyone called for her during her first battle against vecna after all even if she was a target, but I hardly think Will would want to think about Lonnie even if it's necessary to remember his brother coming to reassure him that he will always be loved, or Mike might not want to remember life before El because right before that Will disappeared, even if he needs to remember that to remember meeting Will.
Also if vecna takes always all of Will's "safety" memories, Will still feels he can keep fighting because he loves mike, in his own words, can vecna actually hide not only memories but LOVE??? He can't erase the painting, for example. He can destroy it, like max's drawing, but it was real and lucas remade it. If vecna cant deal with love he might just kill mike instead though. Althought EVEN SO. Does death stop someone from loving another? No that does not. so what's his plan here? If he needs will he will have to hide love itself or erase every conection will has to happiness and love, so maybe he will just erase mike?
ALSO WILL AND MIKE SAY ITS BEEN A YEAR BUT EVERYONE ELSE KNOWS ITS BEEN SIX MONTHS IS VECNA MESSING WITH THEM BY ADDING DAYS INTO THEIR LIVES TO MAKE THEM MORE DISTANT SOMEHOW OR IS THIS UNRELATED??

Not a day goes by that I don't miss you. I miss everything about you, and I regret that I lost it. I'm sorry I wasn't the man you thought I was in the beginning, I got so lost in power and status that I forgot what truly mattered to me. You were the best thing in my life and I lost you because of my own ignorance. I understand if you're hurt, angry or upset I truly do. I want to make it better, I want to go back and fix all my mistakes and wrong doings. I want that happy ending with you. I want to just wake up everything morning to your face, I want to drink coffee and watch the sunrise with you again. But my own wrong doings ruined that, and I'm sorry. I truly am sorry. I wish I could go back and change everything, but you cant erase what already happened. I just hope that one day I'll be able to have that happy ending with you again, one day.

T&T: Experimenting with more complex grids
Week 2

Step 1: Create the Grid. I formed my grids using the guides in Adobe Illustrator, drawing a mixture of circles, rectangles and diagonal lines. I stopped adding shapes when I felt I had a good amount of overlaps, and created interesting shapes of a variety of sizes with the overlaps.
Step 2: Create the starting letter. I chose 'Y' for some variety, and has a more interesting shape due to the organic shape of the tail. I started from a 'y' in an existing typeface, to aid me in creating the shape with the grid. I then filled in the shapes using Live Paint Bucket tool, to create a 'y'.
Step 3: Deconstruct the character. I filled in random shapes within the grids, following the same system I tried using previous experiments. I erased shapes in the letter that we're blacked out in the grids, slowly erasing the letter with each iteration.
The Outcome:

I much preferred the way these letters looked in comparison to the previous experiment. I think this is as the letterforms were much more interesting due to the vast amount of shapes making up each one.
I think the 'y' is still recognisable as a 'y' in the last iteration. I cant decide whether I like that it is recognisable or not. I think it works as it still holds it's identity as a 'y', but a hollow version of it, which I think can comment well on loss of identity as a designer due to comparison, you are still a designer but more empty, hollow and just sort of worse.
I positioned a typeface with 2 font styles at the end of my experiment 'before' and 'after', which I like the comparison of the 2 with harsh differences. In addition to this, I think it could work well as a variable typeface, using all 5 versions, with the choice of being able to slide between to choose how much information you want.
Next Steps:
Attempt this again, but go back to my original idea of fitting letters within letters. Repeat the process of constructing a letter, using one from a previous typeface, and use this as the grid, rather than random blocking.
