Since we're on the topic of video game hair, and how it takes different times and techniques to do different styles, I want to offer y'all just what Mr. Frontiers-Ravengard would be doing to his hair to have the style Larian gave him:

Now mind you, even he mentions that if you want "sleek" flat twists vs more voluminous ones, you have to blow dry! The first video also showed her hair blowdried.

Same idea with cornrows; it's possible to do with and without blowdry.

These are smaller than Wyll's so there's more work, but simple, large ones (which is what they were probably going for anyway) wouldn't take too long to do on your own with moisture and a good comb.

Then how to do faux locs (which, again in my opinion 🙌🏾 is what both the base and the mods for this style in game look like):

This isn't the only way to do this btw, but I wanted y'all to notice the way they wrap the added hair to obtain that look. That's what I noticed that made me start seeing faux locs.

Now the palm rolling technique she's using, you might say "but Ice! That's twisting too!" Yes! But notice how, over time (look at the rest of her head) the "twist" fades as the loc buds. It doesn't maintain that "twist" look that faux locs do, bc faux locs are... Faux lol. They're fake! They're not going to start interlocking bc it's not real hair!

Now the reason I'm discussing all this is because even in a game as highly lauded and detailed as Baldur's Gate, even in this there were still some misunderstandings on how Black hair would look and function in a world where this guy is supposed to be hoofing it with urgency in the wild. Because if I were him, this would not be the style of choice for that 😅 But I get it, its supposed to be "D&D". Anyway, try noticing things like this, when you play your games (and when you make your characters!)

This ended up being how Kento basically "soft" launches his workplace romance with the reader and it's a bit suggestive lmao Let's set the scene first because I'm not sure if I've explained my reasoning before on here, but based on the info we have on Nanami's salaryman days (long work hours, little actual value added but emphasis on share-holder value creation) I HC him as either being a banker or working in private equity. Despite Kento's best efforts and his resolve of keeping you at arm's length - because what would people say if Nanami, revered Director, ends up dating a subordinate - he finds himself caring less and less about the rumours surrounding you both. After he wears out the last of his restraint trying to delay the inevitable, he just relents and lets it happen. He lets you drag him in and finds falling in your orbit pleasant. Natural, even. Kento goes from being the cut-throat, distant and laconic shadow of a man that disappears in his office all day to a softer version of himself even you have a hard time recognising. He can't get enough of you but work eats up any free time either of you have and you end up seeing each other in the office more often than in the comfort of your own home. So Kento comes up with other ways of sating his wants, even if it means tormenting you a little along the way.

It starts fairly innocently when you receive an email from him, pithily worded and unassuming, in which Kento requests you to help Yuuji - poor, struggling intern who clings to you like a lost puppy in the office jungle - check an unstable model. It's nothing. It's routine and, while you anticipate a few comments here and there, you reckon it'll only take a few minutes. What you don't expect is for Kento to be adamant about you doing it live on a call, with Yuuji and other interns as an audience, so it can serve as a lesson he'll oversee. His offer is unusual, too generous to not be questionable but who are you to refuse ? He's your boss, and when Kento tells you to jump, the only acceptable answer is 'Yes sir, how high ?'. The call is filled with a suspiciously large number of interns who hang on to your every word, and a very satisfied Kento who sports an undecipherable smile. As expected, you find a few comments, curtesy of Kento to guide your little "lesson" - where is the beta from, double check the amortisation of this, please fix formatting - but nothing that requires such a large audience.

Then his comments take a strange turn, they're not action items anymore, merely musings that Kento glosses over during the call. You see the way his lopsided smile goes from amused to predatory as he talks about the numbers you corrected and the inflated terminal value you manage to get or the hefty interest payments you're dealing with.

'Excellent work on the projections, you really know how to get it up' - this makes you choke on your coffee. You stare at your screen in alarm, hoping that no one caught the mirth in Kento's voice. 'The annuities here must be painful to take, but nothing we can't deal with, right ?', now you're positively flushing, thighs pressed together and ears ringing with shame and unbridled lust. With shaky hands, you fly through the rest of the file, shutting down any questions the snotty interns may raise, and vaguely excusing yourself, hiding behind a "conflicting" commitment. You think you've seen the last of this, but before you can hang up, Kento pipes up while the kids are still on the line.

Kento lets out an almost pained sigh, then quips, "Can you come by my office after this ? I'd love your help to adjust some - hum -" he's cut off by something suspiciously close to a groan - "Need your help adjusting my EBITDA".

The line goes silent. As if on cue, everyone else leaves, mumbled thanks and hushed whispers the only thing you hear before it's just you and Kento.

"What the fuck, Ken ?", you hiss over the static of your mic, voice low and alarmed. "Is this an appropriate way to address your MD ?", he retorts, now back to his seemingly professional front. You roll your eyes but he doesn't relent. "There are still some comments we haven't gone through, I reckon it'd be good to double check those adjustments", he mumbles without much conviction. You reason that your secret's already out by now and, well, you can't refuse Kento - even if it means doing some over time.

The BoBs really think Ryan confirmed their ship is happening because he said "whatever happens happens" and he didn't outright say it wouldn't happen. Uhm he did say that in his "Eddie is a heterosexual man, Buck's straight friend that he came out to, and it's so nice that a straight man and a bi man can be friends" interview and y'all didn't believe him. Not to mention JLH telling them it wasn't going to happen, and then backtracking when the BoBs went crazy.

But we're the deluded ones for shipping bucktommy after just three episodes and Tommy being a plot device (apparently).

Well. People are free to think what they want, obviously. I don't even see much of what the BoBs are saying, only what is shared in the buck/tommy tags because I value my peace way too much to go look into the chaos.

"Whatever happens happens" means "you don't get to decide". Also how do they know that it's not Ryan who said no eventually?

They're angry because they now realize their fantasy won't become canon and like a bunch of toddlers who realize they won't have the toy they thought they would get, they throw a temper tantrum. And I can understand the disappointment. But not the reaction. Not the violence in their posts. There's no love for the show there, for the creative minds, for the effort of representation, for the people who work hard to make it happen. They're not fans. They just saw two cute men and projected their fantasies on them, whatever the story or the character development.

Yes, some choices don't make much sense in canon, I even myself would have enjoyed to see Eddie and Buck together at the beginning. It would have been cute, with Christopher loving them both so much too. But that's not what happened and they definitely wrote them in a way that doesn't leave any doubt if you don't try to read so hard between lines that don't even exist. People need to accept a story for what it is, and if they don't like it, they can live in complete denial of it. There's no shame in that but do it with respect. Your fantasy is yours.

The hate against Tommy is also their problem. They can hate him all they want but they twist everything about him to fit their hateful narrative. Queer characters deserve respect. Well, most of them, a queer pos is still a pos. But Tommy has been brought back into the show and written with respect for the character, for the story and for his purpose: being Buck's new romance. Not only he already existed in the show but also has history with the 118 and has a significant shared story with Hen and Chim. He's already a characters in itself, he just came back.

Having a character like Tommy is also more than just a interesting character. It's a necessary character. He fits the cishet macho mold so perfectly: veteran, pilot, firefighter, buff, confident, professional, brave. But he's GAY AF. And everything he does is respectful and kind. And haters have to rely on lying to show him in a bad light because so far, there's nothing. Imagine what this kind of character looks like for the average audience? It's great representation for us queer.

In the end, BoBs can hate all they want, Buck and Tommy together is canon, Tommy has only shown positive traits so far, he's shown sane boundaries and respect for other's. When haters have to rely on details, and still twist them, to justify their hate, you know they know they're wrong. They know, but they can't give up now that they've reach this level of hate.

All I would ask of them would be to stop the hate against real life people and stop pulling them into the drama (the live with JLH was NO THAT. Shame on them). Let the fandom be at war between ships if you need that to feel something but leave real people out of that, especially actors and Lou in particular. They're paid to play and this is not a service. You're not a client they have to satisfy because you paid for a specific performance. The bullying and entitlement need to stop.

You've gotta wonder what kind of person Manny Noceda was; He's one of two people who informed so much of Luz's character, her grief and posthumous relationship with her father is reflective of the creator's own experiences, it's foundational to the story itself in how Luz chooses to honor her parent and keep his memory alive as she learns to keep living for herself, too.

I already wrote a fic briefly exploring on that, but let's talk about it more: Obviously it's not always so clear-cut between parents and children in real life, but I guess you could see Luz as the culmination of Camila and Manny. So one could use this as a means to work backwards with Manny, to see what parts of Luz she didn't get from Camila, but from her father.

I imagine Manny as someone very confident, brash; He doesn't back down from a challenge. But I also think a part of him doesn't want to be seen as weak, less capable, conceding to others. Manny isn't going to let other people bully him around and he doesn't want Luz or Camila to be hurt that way either. If Camila passed down her fear to Luz, Manny passed down his thoughtlessness; So he might have that same headstrong tendency to sweep others along in his need to prove himself, and in his well-meaning need to help them prove themselves.

Did it ever frustrate Camila, who would sometimes be more worried about just surviving by fitting in? Maybe they both balanced each other out, just as Luz balances out these different, seemingly paradoxical parts of herself. Did he not want to appear weak like Luz, particularly with the context of his illness? Did Manny try and hide that, prioritize his loved ones, just as Luz later did, maybe even internalized from him?

I can't imagine how scared he was, slowly dying; Particularly when it comes to his wife and daughter. He's going to leave them behind. He wants them to be safe so badly. He wants to see Luz grow up and become the person she wants to be. He wants his family to know that it's okay to be themselves, that they're everything. But Manny isn't sure if he's getting it across in the right words, if he's saying it properly. He needs to make the most of his time.

I can see Manny as someone loud, energetic. Eccentric. Luz gets her odder mannerisms from him, he's brimming with this earnest, delightful energy that's so hard not to like. Did he immigrate to the U.S., or was he the child of immigrants? Grandchild, even? Did he and Camila resonate together over their ancestry as another reason for feeling alienated from the majority, where they were? How did they feel about their own families, did they also worry about having to choose between two worlds? Did Manny fight tooth and nail to survive, because us weirdoes have to stick together?

Did Manny have anyone else to tell him to stick up for himself, or did he have to figure it out himself? Was Camila one of those people who helped, and vice-versa, did they both reassure one another? And when Manny was gone, Camila just didn't have the heart and confidence to keep saying that to herself. Was Manny still scared for his wife and daughter when he died, or did he dare hope in his final moments, just as he always dared to live as himself in life? I wish Manny could’ve gotten to see how his loved ones would thrive, and all of the people they’d meet and befriend.

The ninth plank creaks slightly under my step. I lifted the notebook again, marking the spot on the room grid with an X.

Relatively I can't say it wasn't well-built, I only have five other Xs for this room, all rather quiet. I should be happy for that part, but it only makes keeping things right harder. If it was quiet under my step how would it sound under someone smaller? Quieter? Someone trying to sneak up on me?

A soft sigh escapes my lips. I can’t let this stuff get so intense already. If I'm right no one in town even knows I'm here. I worked so hard to fake it. A fake name, a fake architect with a fake background to feed the papers. A fake rich older man wanted a house built in Ravenbrooks and seeing the price of this property decided to invest. I had to be careful. It had to be perfect. I'd likely only have a week, two at most, before they realized I was here.

To think I spent months building up an alibi to grant me so little time.

The silver doorknob glints as I grab it, first overhand, then under. Turned left then right. It clicks softly in both directions. The noise is soothing, comfortingly audible. Next the lock, back then forth then back then forth. Three times. Always three times. It clicks as well, louder with a metallic tang. I stop and listen as the noise echoes back to my ears after every turn. Every door is equipped with a slightly different lock, custom-made.

It's not safe. It will never be safe, but it's better. It'll suit my needs until they find ou-

No- no no no already?! Why are they here already? How?! I can feel the sweat building up on my palms. Need to act quickly. Get rid of it.

They're like scout ants, if I can get them to believe whatever loon will live here just hasn't packed or anything maybe they'll report back nothing. It'll probably cut down my time to days at most but it will be something. Please just leave me some time.

I grab a hammer off the desk, shifting my grip. A builder left it. I create the excuse in my head. I thought you were them, coming to retrieve it. Or, I thought you were a burglar. If it gets violent.

My breath stops. Footsteps. Soft for the most part, with a few heavier sets. Multiple people. Of course. I close my eyes, counting them carefully.

Seven.

God dammit.

This wasn't going to end peacefully. I knew it. I'm doomed. They'll either kill me or make some excuse to have me removed from town. Could I claim invader for seven people? Could I take seven people?

"Watch your step" a woman whispered. They're in the next room. It's now or never Aaron. Are you going to let it all be for nothing?

"Be quiet." A male voice hushed with annoyance.

He's picking the lock. I shift the hammer in my grasp again, purposeful this time. Ready.

When the door finally opens I'm ready to crack the metal against his skull.

But I can't.

The six behind him notice me before he does. Someone yells, and another grabs and yanks him back. I can’t even see his eyes through the thick lenses of his goggles. No. My goggles.

The hammer has fallen to the floor now, I hadn't even realized I'd let go of it. Just the loud thud of it hitting the floor.

It frees my brain from it's distraction. Seven. I grab my gloves, and yank. The fear in their eyes makes this all easier. "What are you doing inside my home?" I say it calmly, but the malice is omnipresent. Good. I want them scared, to run screaming.

The woman who grabbed his arm spoke up first, stammering nonsense before managing, "Well- well they uh-" she turned and looked at taller women beside her. I took a step closer.

"Th-this isn't what it looks like!" A ginger behind her squeaked. Another step.

The others exchanged glances and angry whispers. I didn't care. I could barely hear them at this point over my own growing anger.

"AH! Well- about that..." the taller woman whimpered. "U-uh- Nick?"

I pause midstep. The goggled man finally pulls them off his eyes. They're not the green I'd remembered so well. Instead that dead looking brown. He looks embarrassed more than scared. "Uh- well-" he begins. I stop listening again.

"Nicky?"

He stops too and his awkward smile slowly fades. I stare wide-eyed. How can someone look so alike and yet so different to the child they were years ago?

"Aaron." He responds. Something about his voice is...wrong. I can’t place it. But it doesn't matter. Before I even realize it I'm smiling like an idiot. He looks down at the floor. I take another step.

That's the last thing I remember before hitting the ground, before everything went black.

What if Frankie found out about Yor and/or Anya's secrets first? With Anya, he has more loyalty to Loid and he knows he'd eventually have to tell him.

You know, you're right, as much fun as it would be to have Franky play along with Anya and protect her secret, that secret means she very much knows about Loid being a spy as well as about many many of his spy coworkers. And himself! And he knows it's a heavy information to have, and Twilight should know how deeply he has been compromised. It's all fun and games until you remember they're all working to maintain a peace that's as fragile as glass. Just by reading their minds, Anya makes herself either a target... or an accomplice. It's a dangerous situation and as much as I believe Franky would be on Anya's side and would have some fun teasing Loid with this knowledge that Loid doesn't have, he would need to let him know about it.

Now it would be different for him to learn about Yor; as far as Franky or Twilight are concerned, if she doesn't pose a threat to them or their work then what she does is none of their business. I don't know about Franky, but he certainly knows that Twilight would have no standing to judge her morals. So, Yor's secret wouldn't be his to tell and again, as long as she stays out of Twilight's business then he also has no reason to expose her. Now that could provide for some humor in the story, where Franky knows Loid is a spy and Yor is an assassin, they know he knows about them but they don't know about each other, and he tries to balance everything out, while Anya knows everything and can't say a word. Like, imagine a scene where he's babysitting her because Yor and Loid had "work" to do, and they're both pretending that it's city hall and hospital work respectively, when they know they're out there doing assassin and spy work. How would that conversation go, especially with Anya reading Franky's mind and seeing how hard he's trying to not spill everything?

Yeah, I think that would provide the humor SxF is so well-known for XD

the interactions between 'Green' Derek and 'Golden' Logan are gonna be a lot of fun 'cause it's like. they're not physically made to be dominant or submissive, it's nothing in their genes making them react that way.

but it's the intense, ever-since-birth societal conditioning and training that makes it so hard to play their roles right. it's been drilled into Derek since he was a kid that you hold your head up high, stand proud with a wide stance, speak to Greens with a slow, commanding tone. and it's been drilled into Logan since he was a kid that you keep your head down, stand gracefully with your legs together, speak to your Golds and Goldens with soft submissive obedience, never let them perceive you as disrespectful or threatening.

so if there just happens to be a situation where Logan is going to do something reckless, Derek is going to make himself heard. and sure, he'll try to be polite and submissive about it, but when that doesn't work he's going to stand a different way. speak in a different tone. make himself bigger instead of smaller and go so far as to back Logan up against a wall and crowd his space because he is going to be heard.

and it's gonna shock both of them when Logan doesn't retaliate. when the tension in his body disappears because Greens don't fight, Greens obey and the hard line of his shoulders softens because it looks too confrontational and his head immediately starts bowing down only to snap back up because Derek says look at me

and both of them are going to wonder: why is my body reacting like this if he's a (Golden) (Green) ?

also thinking about the Freedom Fighters protecting Scourge from Zonic when he shows up. like, him trying to arrest all of them for hiding and protecting a criminal and all. how do you think the FFs would overcome him?

It would take a while for the zone cops to even come to the conclusion Scourge is hiding in the fleetway dimension, tbh. He's good at running from the cops, and knows lots of places to hide. It's difficult to track him down when he's not actively causing trouble, and the fleetway universe is quite a ways away from the dimensions he normally hangs around in. The zone cops are expecting him to show up in Moebius, or try to take over the Prime dimension again. They aren't going to be looking in the dimension with the evil Super Sonic that's thousands of miles away, because why would he be there? Even once they do investigate there, they're probably initially be inclined to take Sonic's word for it when he says Scourge isn't there. Zonic knows this Sonic hates lookalikes, after all. It would take a while for them to genuinely suspect the fleetway universe

Usually when Zonic shows up, the first thing they do is hide Scourge, which can range from hiding him elsewhere in the dimension (special zone included) or finding a way to get him out altogether, and he'll find somewhere else to hide until they leave again. The zone cops can't actually arrest him if he isn't there, and they can't prove the freedom fighters have been hiding him, since, well, he doesn't legally exist in the fleetway universe. The best they can do is ask around to see if anyone has seen him, but Sonic is always quick to point out that anyone could be a green hedgehog in a leather jacket. Metamorphia did turn into a green hedgehog, once. Without seeing Scourge with their own two eyes, the zone cops have no way to prove the green hedgehog in a leather jacket is Scourge and not someone else.

"Everyone around here is an idiot," Sonic will sneer if Zonic tries to point out that he showed a picture of Scourge to some civilians and they said they recognised him. "They'll mix any hedgehog up. Someone mistook Amy for me, once."

Technically, the circumstantial evidence is enough to bring Sonic and the other freedom fighters in, but there's always the risk of him turning into Super, if we pick the part of the timeline where they're one person. He's harmless if they get the collar around him, it's just getting the collar around him without being vaporised that's the tricky part. Even if they're separate people, well, if Sonic is gone, who will stop Super if he goes out of control?

If the zone cops decide to bring them in anyway, well. The freedom fighters are freedom fighters. They're going to fight, and they're going to fight dirty. Sonic alone is a pain in the ass (and, again, a huge risk if he and Super are one person) but everyone else will make it even worse. The cops could subdue them eventually, but... ultimately, I think they find it more trouble than it's worth to bring them in, especially when they have no surefire way to prove Scourge has anything to do with them. And if the freedom fighters were arrested, Scourge would work his ass off to bust them out. It could be a good way to trap him, but Scourge has escaped from prison once before, they don't want it to happen again

Ultimately, I think they decide to bide their time. There are other criminals to take care of, and they can't really spare the resources to go hunting for Scourge when he isn't even causing any trouble aside from "already being a wanted criminal", so they decide it's better to periodically check in to see if they can catch him unaware or wait until he causes a big enough problem to give them justification to go knocking on the door and arrest the lot of them. Unfortunately for them, the freedom fighters are protective, and will make sure that never happens
