𝐒𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐓 𝐃𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍, m. list
featuring: levi ackerman x fem!reader plot: she has been a part of levi's squad for more than six years. most likely the most trusted person for the captain, and a best friend. in his mind, she's more but he would not dare himself to show that behind the stoic behavior and the emotionless face, were hidden feelings for a survey corps member. or maybe would he? content warning: nsfw! (mdni!) + fluff + pet names + depression + soulmates & second chance kind of trope, all warnings will be added before each part. hi it's malia: i just started attack on titan, like almost finished the first season and this is a little part that came to my mind while they escaped the titan forest. so. pretty much, enjoy it's going to be multi multi-chapter.
𝐒𝐍𝐈𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐓:
"We can't fight them," Erwin shouted towards the Captain, keeping his stern gaze forward while leading the surviving soldiers back to the capital. Levi grunted beside him, clenching his fingers tightly around the leather reins. With a broken left leg, he could still endure a fight but it would not be possible to stand long enough to avoid a longer-lasting conflict.
"They're catching up, we can't lose another group," She argued from Levi's left side, squinting her eyes at the commander and captain. The talented, young woman was the last one standing from the squad that once surrounded Levi. Following the Captain with pride and blindly into any kind of battle. Until their inevitable death at the hands of the Female Titan. "Levi!" She shouted, fingernails digging into the leather material of her reins.
Instead of agreeing with her, the black-haired, stoic man simply glared at her, and shook his head. The only answer she received, was spoken without using words. She snorted, glancing over her shoulder when she witnessed how Mikasa Ackerman jumped off her horse and saved a trapped man. "I'm helping them," She stated, letting herself fall back in line to ensure the safe return of more Survey Corps members.
Levi's attentive glare followed her disappearance, scoffing and cursing to himself. The words lost in the wind, they rode against, forcing his head to stare ahead. There wasn't a chance in the world, he would give the Titans to inflict deadly wounds on the talented woman. For over six years, she followed him into each battle, fought side by side with the Squad Captain. A sweet creature, no one believed in. But Levi did, and in the chaos of war, she became his most entrusted person. A thing close to a best friend, but with further interest, he would never allow his emotionless face to show.
"Levi," Commander Erwin stated, sternly staring ahead. "It's been six years, you better get her under your control." Using the leather reins to force his horse to run faster, Erwin did not look back while a small fight happened just behind their backs. The Squad Captain mirrored the resting face of his superior, knowing that he was certainly right about the reckless behavior. But Levi also knew, how courageous she was in battle, how protective of the subordinates and newbies, and how she wanted to place a protective coat over humanity while destroying titan after titan.

Eren and Cinder: Slaves of Freedom
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Many people hate Eren and Cinder to the point that they consider them bad characters and it's one thing to dislike a character and another to be badly written and to be fair, Eren and Cinder aren't bad characters. You might dislike them, very much actually, but one thing doesn't take away the other, they're both well written and I'm writing this because I don't want people to think they're bad characters just because they don't like them.
They both share a strong desire for freedom and in this post I'm going to explore their desire for freedom, why they became obsessed with being free as well as other things they share:
Eren and Cinder suffered since they were children due to situations that were beyond their control. Eren witnessed the destruction of his home and the death of his mother Carla as well as being turned into a titan by his father Grisha and later on he would suffer a series of betrayals and find out that everything bad that happened to him was the product of a war that he did not even know existed and Cinder was mistreated on the farm where she was sheltered until Madame adopted her but this mistreatment went from bad to worse, then Rhodes gives her hope of being free as a huntress but she could not bear the abuse and she kills her abusers and then fights Rhodes and kills him.
Both situations are quite different but the effect it caused on both is practically the same: they hate themselves for their impotence and want to be free because they want to have control of their lives, give meaning to all pain they went through and believe that power and violence is the only thing that can give them what they want. Eren and Cinder are victims of a system bigger than them that failed them and they choose to destroy it but at the cost of being left alone in a toxic and self-destructive cycle.
Basically, this is how they want to be seen by others (powerful and untouchable)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
because this is what they really are (pathetic and unsure of themselves)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and they know it better than anyone and they hate themselves for it. They're irrational, immature, angry, cowardly in many ways, yet also a frightened children deep down.
Their desire to be free through violence, to have power, and to have a narrative they're in control of has caused them to enter a self-destructive spiral and ironically they become slaves to their desire for freedom to the point that they lose sight of what that they really want (to be loved) and cut off the few positive relationships they have left, taking them away from what they really want.
Cinder only gets close to others for her own benefit and while she projects onto Emerald and Mercury and feels some affection for them, in the end she chooses to abuse and manipulate them and despite Eren genuinely loving his friends but in turn abusing them, he hits them and forces them to do things they don't want to do, Cinder and Eren both share a main flaw when it comes to their relationships and that is that they're afraid of loving other people, afraid of showing vulnerability, they don't trust others because they don't want to be hurt again. Their relationships are selfish love because they are based on how they feel without taking into account the feelings of others. This is so to the point that they also affect people with whom they have no close relationship because they steal agency because they have been deprived of it.
If you notice, Eren and Cinder seek to have a narrative like the trope of the chosen one: one person is a failure and having a series of horrible things happen to them only to realize that they were special for being the chosen one all along but to Eren and Cinder's disgrace they're not chosen but are a deconstruction of this trope.
Eren experienced a series of misfortunes and betrayals, he receives a power that shortens his life expectancy to 13 years and on top of that the whole world wants to destroy his home because of a war that he didn't know existed but wants to believe that he is the chosen one who was destined to activate the Rumbling and that there was no other solution to save his island. On the other hand, Cinder was abused her entire life and felt betrayed by the father figure who inspired her until Salem arrives and grants her the ability to be a Maiden (which is quite a dangerous position since many seek her power either through the power itself, the relics, or both) being left in an abusive situation with her and Cinder chooses to believe that she was meant to be the one chosen to have the Maiden's Powers.
They seek to be special because they hate themselves and they want power because they want control of their lives. They would rather be monsters that everyone fears
Tumblr media Tumblr media
than admit that they're just traumatized and wounded children.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After all, what kind of person wanted to become a monster anyway?
A person pathetically unable to feel good as a human being.
We see that this deconstructed trope, far from being something good and rewarding, is actually dehumanizing. Eren knows that his mother's death was circumstantial but chooses to believe that he caused it and planned it only to feel like he was in control and Cinder chooses to believe that her role as Maiden is her destiny and that she destroyed the kingdom she hated to feel that it was by her own choice when actually everything was planned and decided by Salem.
Eren and Cinder are fascinating because of how contradictory they are, they want to be free but at the same time they want to adjust to a narrative where everything is decided for them. They both think that way because they believe that freedom consists of doing what they want without consequences, but what they don't know about freedom is this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here Ezio is explaining the meaning of "everything is permitted" from the assassins creed which is basically the meaning of having freedom. Freedom consists of making choices and taking responsibility for the consequences of those choices, but Eren and Cinder don't make their own decisions and when they do they don't want to take responsibility for them. They want the feeling of power and control that comes with choice, but they don't want the responsibility for it.
Eren knows about the world situation regarding Paradis and he wanted to protect his friends and home but deep down he just wanted revenge against the world and the system that hurt him. He didn't want the world to be destroyed but he wanted to be the one to make that choice.
Cinder knows about the situation of the world of Remnant with the classism and discrimination that she and many others suffered and decided to perpetuate the cycle because she wanted revenge against a system that failed her. She doesn't care about the state of the world but she wanted to be important and Cinder, like Eren, is going to make a choice about the world but in turn she has the opportunity to make a different choice than Eren.
In a sense, Eren represents what could happen to Cinder if she doesn't realize her way of thinking that she has to be the chosen one to prove her worth as a person and not acknowledge her pain and the pain she caused others will get her nowhere. She needs to realize that she doesn't need to prove her worth but to acknowledge that she is already valuable and special just by existing, which Eren failed to do. Eren was called to realize it by his friends but he failed because he prioritize his self-loathing and anger against the world while Cinder will be called (possibly by Emerald and Mercury) to realize this and she will listen.
While Eren condemns himself by wanting to continue with his flaw (being afraid to love others, wanting to feel better about himself by hurting others and being special because his childish delusions of grandeur and his inability to let go of his childish feelings of entitlement) and not being able to grow, Cinder will grow as a person and overcome these same flaws. Both are very related to the final destiny of the world, except that Eren ultimately chooses to destroy his while Cinder ultimately will chooses to save it. Eren's choice was selfish and Cinder's will be selfless. Eren chooses to die because he cannot deal with the responsibility of his choice while Cinder will choose to die to save the world and will hold on to her final choice even knowing the consequences of taking it.
Eren died as a slave to his need to seek freedom and to feel better about himself in a chosen narrative but Cinder will die truly free for the first time in her life by recognizing what she really wants (to be loved, make her own choices and hold on to them with all the responsibility that entails).

THE DEATH OF THE DRAGONS
Valyria, they called it. The Island of the Dragons.
The outsiders believed it was a myth. A legend. That the tale of the beasts who once ruled the world was simply a story parents invented to put their children to sleep. No one had ever seen a dragon soaring in the sky. No one had ever had shivers running down their spines at the sounds of their bellow. No one had ever felt the heat of the blue flames that seeped through the creature’s teeth. No one had ever witnessed the glorious tale of a Rider and their Dragon. How their power reigned over the world, providing peace and serenity to their people, and how their frozen fire and bloodied desire were the ones that consumed them too in the end. No one, except the Valyrians themselves. They remembered.
The Valyrians walked upon the ground that their ancestor, the mighty dragon Balerion, built from scratch with his blood and sweat. They stood on his bones, ones that were turned to dust, and they worshiped his name, the only thing that was left of him. But the dragon magic that once streamed under his skin was inherited by every Valyrian that was born into the world. It took the shape of the delicate iridescent scales that veneered their human skin, the two jagged horns that were perched upon their heads, a tail strong enough to smother the air out of a man’s lungs, and a string of marbled teeth made of knives.
They resembled the appearance of the devils that crawled their way out from the underworld, but the Gods were merciful enough to grant them the ability to conceal every part of them that was inhuman. Once a Valyrian was old enough–strong enough–to have control over their magic, they could embrace their human parts better. They could turn their scales transparent and hide their beauty from the world. They could use their magic like an invisible veil, cloaking their horns and tail. They could appear human. They could live like humans.
But even so, the Valyrians no longer possessed the thirst for knowledge their ancestors did. They weren’t as courageous, as fearless, and as greedy as they were. Even with blue flames dancing on their palms, they never used it to enslave other races. They were content with what their island had given them.
The outsiders, those who lived on the other side of the sea, had never seen a dragon’s wrath, only stories of it. Their incognizance could make them reckless and foolish. It could make them dangerous. Their curiosity could threaten the life of every Valyrian, fight their loyal husbands, and harm innocent children and their loving mothers. It was in their nature for humans to judge others by their appearance, and when their opponents embodied the look of a monster, it was only right for them to raise their weapons against them.
The Valyrians could tyrannize over the outsiders if they wanted to. They had the power to do so but chose not to. Yet that was not enough to convince a stranger, especially those who were already shrouded with fear. The dragon hybrids chose to avoid conflict and live a peaceful life, staying deep in the serenity the island provided them. They chose not to step outside and travel the world, no matter how beautiful they may seem, as they believed that the only living beings who thrived on the other end of the sea were monsters.
Legends are meant to be stories, their tall tales a source of wisdom and a tool for learning. But when a child believes these legends enough to stop questioning their authenticity, they become a threat to the world around them.
A bright Valyrian boy, defiant in his nature, was so consumed by his curiosity that it made him foolish. Armin was the name his father gave him, meaning hero in their language, in hopes that his son would become a savior to his kind, one that would return the peace to the island if a calamity ever arose. Little did he know that his son would be the one who would anger the Gods and bring catastrophe to their land.
A treasure chest full of clothes and jewelry was found washed ashore one day, on a beach where Armin often spent his time daydreaming about the outside world. Though they had their preference for clothing and accessories, hybrids were always fond of shiny gemstones, but at that time, nothing caught his attention more than a leather book the size of a large stepping stone. The inside of the treasure box was dry, despite the journey full of storms and crashing waves it must have gone through before it reached his beach. The book was not ruined.
Armin flipped through the pages. The words were written in a different language but even if they weren’t, it would not have mattered. None of the Valyrians were literate as they preferred to communicate verbally. They drew on the walls and walked their fingers across the sand, but they had never invented words to be placed on parchments.
The boy landed his cerulean eyes on a set of illustrations sketched by a human’s hand. Words and languages weren’t needed to explain that he was seeing a drawing of flaming water, land made of ice, and fields of sand spreading wide as if it was endless.
Beautiful, Armin wondered, stars dancing in his eyes as they gleamed in awe. Is this what the outside world looks like?
That was how it all started. One boy, desperate to seek an answer to his question, decided to take action to fulfill his thirst. With a wooden boat he made with his talented hands, a week’s worth of food, and a breechclout made from a wolf’s fur to protect him from the wind, Armin roamed the ocean at dawn. He let the waves carry him away from the paradise he once called home, seeking another heaven that would satisfy his curiosity.
But what stood on the other side of the sea was no such thing.
It was hell on earth.
They found him the second he stepped down from his boat. The outsiders approached menacingly with javelins gripped tightly between their hands. They questioned his identity with their deep, guttural voices in a language the boy had never spoken of. The golden-haired boy cowered in fear, his sapphire eyes quivering like the crystal-like water behind him. In his frightened state, the boy lost focus on his power, and the invisible cloak around him provided by his magic, vanished. The outsiders watched him with widened eyes, faces turning pasty at the sight of his horns and tail. They didn’t find beauty in his scales.
“A d-demon,” one of them said and the boy took a step back, lost his footing, and fell onto the sand. Sea water drenched his skin, and while it usually calmed him down in the past, it only made him feel frantic. The boy tried to communicate with his gentle heart, his hands raised in surrender but they mistook it for a threat. A man, twice his size, shouted at him, his voice ringing vehemently enough to awaken the boy’s instinct to protect himself. His human eyes turned snake-like as he stretched out a hand before him, palm splayed with heat trickling from his fingertips. In the next second, blue flames materialized out of thin air.
And it burned the man into dust.
The boy was just as frightened of himself as the other males, but the humans were much faster to regain their composure. Acting on impulse, they restrained the boy with ropes that dug tortuously into his skin, threw a rag over his head, and brought him to a dungeon where they would spend hours tormenting him. They mutilated him, chopped off his hands so he wouldn’t be able to use his fire magic. Each question was answered with a wail, and once they had grown tired, the humans tried to burn him alive, wanting him to experience the same painful death that had befallen their comrade. Armin might not have been invincible to daggers, but he welcomed the heat of the flames like an old friend. He couldn’t be burned, his bones remained strong, and his skin was unscathed. At that moment, fear was no longer the only thing that swelled inside those humans’ merciless hearts. There was greed. They saw his power as a gift, and they wanted to take it for themselves.
The boy pleaded for his life and they promised him freedom if he could lead them to his home. Gullible and desperate, Armin led them back to the sea. They stopped in the middle of the ocean, their bodies weak and dehydrated. The outsiders were confused as they could see nothing but water glimmering like diamonds under the sun. There was magic shrouding the island, a protection field that prevented anyone but the Valyrians from seeing the island until they passed through it. The humans, not knowing about the invisible cloak that concealed the island, were furious, assuming that the boy had tricked them and led them astray. But then Armin murmured a word in a language they didn't know existed, and like a curtain being tugged to the side, the island appeared before their eyes.
The outsiders rejoiced. They were one step closer to getting what they wanted.
Armin, despite his willingness to cooperate, had his head detached from his neck the second they arrived on the island. That day, from daylight to nighttime, the humans wreaked havoc on their island with their spears and swords. The outside world was cold and cruel, and the humans were trained for survival and warfare. But the hybrids were nothing like them, too used to living in tranquility to be able to take the life of another. The battle was one-sided.
Humans didn’t just walk away victorious. They robbed everything they could, raped every woman, tortured every man, and murdered the elderly all in one night. They tied up the children’s hands and legs and they tossed them to the back of their boats, carrying them back to their own land so they could experiment with their powers. They ripped the scales out of their skins. They used their bodies to test their weapons. They wanted to know every bit of their weakness and steal away every bit of their strength. The children didn’t last long, dying from being unable to withstand the pain. The massacre put an end to their race. The dragons had perished, all except one.
Eren Jaeger, a nine-year-old hybrid, managed to escape the massacre at the cost of his family’s lives. He saw the way his father gasped as a javelin struck past his heart. He heard the sound of his brother’s cry as they chopped off his legs and fed his body to their hounds. He felt the way his mother embraced him with her trembling arms as she asked him to flee for his life and leave her behind.
“You have to go or they will take you away,” she urged him, her voice quavering in terror. “Run. And when you feel like you can’t run anymore, run faster. You have to live.”
“But Mother–”
“Eren.” She placed her hands on his shoulders, casting him the same smile that Eren had fallen in love with from the day he was born. “You have to live so you can remember us.” She kissed his tears away but she didn’t let him do the same. She pushed her child forward, yelling, “Run!”
Eren did, without having a second to bid his goodbye. He sprinted faster than the wind, even if each stride felt like he was stepping onto shards of broken glass. He dived into the sea, and he let the tide and the storm be his shield and shelter.
And he never looked back.

THE BIRTH OF THE WOLVES
Nymeria was the home of the Gods. Vibrant with colors, perfused with life.
As one of the eight kingdoms that ruled the continent, its beauty stretched endlessly from the drift ice in the north sea to the mangrove jungles in the south. Petals of cherry blossom trees performed a graceful dance with the wind in the spring, while the scent of thriving bamboo permeated the air throughout the year.
The first emperor, Michizane Sugawara, built his kingdom from scratch. He was known as the Wolf of The North, due to his fierceness and loyalty. But an old lady would tell her grandchildren a different story of how he regained that title.
Michizane was only a baby who had barely learned how to smile when his people perceived him as a vessel of a vengeful spirit. He was born with an anomaly, where his eyes were blood red instead of gentle brown like his parents. From the day he breathed his first air, a deadly plague spread through the entire village, taking every newborn’s life, and sending the elderly to eternal sleep. The soothing rains turned into storms, flooding their land and destroying their paddies. The gentle breeze evolved into a hurricane and swept away their houses. They were too afraid to question the Gods and so they blamed a child who still craved his mother’s warmth.
On a night of the full moon, they snatched the baby away from his mother’s arms. They cast him into the woods, far away in the north, where the starving wolves roam around, searching for prey. The people sat down and prayed at the gate, not for the baby’s safety, but to offer his life to the Forest Gods, hoping that it would stop the calamity that befell their homes.
His people abandoned him, but the wolves took him into their pack. Michizane was raised in the woods and the wolves taught him their language and the meaning of family. He learned compassion. He learned how to forgive and rely on each other’s strength. Because when the snow falls and the wind blows, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives.
The catastrophe that struck the village continued long after they last listened to the sound of Michizane’s fretful cry. The people remained hungry, their children were only bones and skin. One day, a pack of wolves walked into their village with silence in their steps and glowing eyes. They were not ordinary beasts, three times the size of the wolves that guarded their woods, heavier with more massive jaws and teeth that could tear a man’s leg with a single bite. They did not fear fire. They did not fear blades. The people screamed in their helpless state, and the mothers cried as the wolves howled.
Then a man stepped in, a stranger by face but not by name, and the wolves turned as still as the dead.
“I am Michizane Sugawara,” the man said, his eyes glowing in the night like a scarlet moon but they were as gentle as the breeze that kissed his cheeks. “The man you once cast away.”
“The vengeful spirit!” a brawny man shouted, pointing his javelin at his face. A beast covered with smoke gray fur lunged forward in response, standing before Michizane like a mother wolf protecting its pup. The man took a step back, his face turned pasty at the sight of its bared teeth.
“Easy,” Michizane said, his hand stroking the direwolf’s fur, and the growling that rumbled deep within its chest turned into a soft purr. His opponent watched his every movement closely, but the one who seemed like a threat was not Michizane. It was himself.
“I am not here for revenge,” Michizane explained, grabbing the sack he carried on one shoulder and emptying its insides. Mangos and berries tumbled to the ground, rolling and knocking themselves against the peasants’ feet. The people stared in bewilderment. Where did he find these fruits? They wondered. They were certain that there was nothing left for them to harvest, as the storms had destroyed everything to the ground.
“I found them in the forest,” Michizane answered their silent question. “There is more than I can carry. Come with me. I’ll show you the path.”
The people turned their heads, staring at each other’s faces with frowns breaking on their temples. “B-but…” A lady spoke, her voice was as frail as a spiderweb. “There are… wolves in the forest.”
“Yes, there are,” Michizane responded with a smile, caressing the beast with one hand and it leaned further into his touch like a small kitten. “They’re my family.”
“Why should we trust you?” Her husband said, firmer in tone even when his knees were trembling under his weight. “What if you lead us into the forest and toss us to the wolves?”
“Because I’m not like you.” The tenderness in Michizane’s voice began to waver as his patience ran thin. “I don’t sacrifice a human’s life to save my own. I am here to give you an option. Pledge your loyalty to me and I will make sure your children sleep with their stomachs full. Put your faith in me and I will let the wolves protect you, the way they protected me. I doubt you can survive the next winter if you remain in this state. We can survive together. We will survive together.”
Words alone would not be enough to suddenly turn their fear into devotion, but at least, they managed to light a flicker of flame in their hearts, enough for them to be brave. They kept their weapons and torches in their hands but they followed his trail without a word. The wolves stood on their sides, their teeth no longer bared, and they were as silent as the night itself. When they entered the forest, they were welcomed by the sight of mango trees coming into fruit, dangling tantalizingly before their eyes.
“Take as many as you wish,” Michizane said. “I won’t let you starve.”
Instead of sprinting toward the trees, the villagers dropped down to their knees, their arms stretched out as they pressed their foreheads to the ground. They called upon his name, chanting it like prayer as they spoke their gratitudes. His red eyes shone in elation, happy to welcome his new family, but an innocent child pointed his hand at him. “A demon,” the child said before his mother clasped her palm against his mouth, shushing him down.
“He’s not a demon. He’s our savior.” She bowed to him. “He’s our king.”
The demon in the darkness was the answer to their prayer all along. The lost hero. The new emperor. The Wolf of The North.
Michizane brought his people together, protected them under his claws and teeth, and guided them to live a life full of love and forgiveness. The empire that started small, grew immensely over the years as more people came to seek the taste of serenity that he provided. Centuries passed by, and Nymeria remained prosperous. They said their soils were blessed by the deities, that when a man tossed a broken branch into the dirt, the earth would restore it to its glory by the next morning. Food was never scarce. Children never ran out of laughter. Men guffawed all day and mothers sang their favorite lullabies to their smiling babies. People created names for their Gods, and they chanted them in their prayers with their eyes closed and their heads bowed low enough for their skin to graze the earth.
But a thousand prayers were left unheard once a man, driven by his vanity and lust for power, claimed the throne and betrayed his ancestors’ will. The Gods stopped giving them their blessings, and they simply watched from the heavens above.
And they watched how Nymeria slowly began to rot from the inside.
Emperor Yuuki Okkotsu was not born a vile man. He was just like Michizane himself. Determined. Goal-driven. Strong and courageous. A respectable, handsome young man who would never lay a hand on the innocents. He wished only to preserve peace in his kingdom. The only thing that separated them was the fact that Michizane kept the turmoil in his chest buried deep behind the smile that he showcased to his people. He would rather suffer alone than bring his people to shed tears with him. Yuuki Okkotsu, on the other hand, was not one to put on a facade. When he was suffused with joy, the women rejoiced in pretty clothes and the men fell asleep with smiles on their faces. When anger consumed him, he let his wrath burn everything around him. When he was swallowed by grief, the children cried in his presence.
Nymeria was an ally to every kingdom, except one: The Dricans. Known as The Golden Lions, they were powerful, fierce, and strong like the king of the jungle itself. They were one of the seven kingdoms that presided over the continent, second in strength only to the wolves. But unlike the Nymerians who were content with living within the borders of their land, the Dricans wanted more. Fueled by greed, the lions roared and the wolves perceived it as a threat.
It was the last night of winter when a Nymerian princess was captured by the Dricans. They sliced her flesh open, destroyed her honor, and sent back her corpse to her brother, the king himself. The Dricans sent their regards, a message strapped to her casket said. The emperor remained muted but the direwolves howled. And the world watched with bated breath as he took his revenge.
The diplomatic acts between the two kingdoms did not work as the emperor was determined to make Drican pay for their sins. Insulted by his act, they decided to settle it for good. Yuuta Okkotsu, Yuuki’s first-born child, witnessed the terror that the Dricans spread throughout their lands from the spaces between his mother’s fingers. Drican invaded their home at the break of dawn, burning down their fields and tainting their crystal lakes with shades of crimson. Though shocked by the sudden aggression, Nymeria was strong enough to put up a fight.
The war between the two dynasties lasted for the entire summer. Blood of Nymerian warriors pooled and dried on the ground, their skins scorched by the blazing sun, frozen when the night kissed them goodbye. Many innocent lives were taken away. A widow’s wail echoed through the night, and the fireflies went silent as they mourned her husband’s death. The emperor was running out of options. He couldn’t win without a new source of power. And in his desperate need, his advisor whispered in his ear.
There was a rumor, he said, that a witch lived somewhere in a forested ravine in the rugged mountain that stood a hundred miles away from the palace. A lady with ginger hair and a smile wicked enough to spread goosebumps on a man’s skin. Nobara, they called her, a strange name for a strange woman, but Yuuki wanted her more than he longed to feast on a wild boar. He sent twelve brave men to take her captive. Only five of them returned, dragging the witch behind them like cattle.
The emperor asked her to create a spell, one that would grant him an immense amount of power. He informed her that it was necessary for him to protect his realm, to give his people the peaceful life they desired, just like in the old days. The witch, knowing that Drican was the one who waged the war, granted him his wish. She cast a spell on him, and he perceived it as a gift. A blessing from the Gods, he believed. Her only warning for him was to not harm the innocents, an easy feat as he had sworn to protect them even before she shrouded him with her magic.
For her spell to work, a sacrifice was necessary. A human’s life. The more he killed, the stronger he became. Yuuki could feel the surge of energy flowing through his system as he drove his sword deep inside his opponent’s chest. Anguish was a hurricane churning inside his chest that he tried to put a blind eye on. There was no need for the two kingdoms to sacrifice the lives of their brave men, but it was a point of no return.
The emperor deceived himself by believing that one death of his enemy would guarantee a life for his people. He stopped seeing the Dricans as humans, and perceived them as demons instead. And by the power bestowed by the Gods, he would send them back to the land of the dead.
The emperor had the strength to incapacitate a whole army by himself. Within three days, the Dricans kneeled before him, pleading for mercy. Their foreheads were glued to the ground, their body shaking in fear, and their lips were bitten hard to suppress their tears. Yuuki, for once, stopped raising his sword. He tried to find the will within himself to forgive, but once it was found, a Drican soldier, unwilling to surrender, rose to his feet, snatched a knife hidden underneath his cloak, and tossed it forward. The dagger pierced through the air, aiming straight for the Yuuki’s head but the spell protected him, hardened his skin, making it impenetrable. There was not a scratch on his body, and not a drop of his blood was shed. The dagger clattered on the earth before he retrieved it with one hand. In the next second, the Drican soldier’s head was split into two, his own knife flying past through his skull.
The Dricans didn’t seek mercy, Yuuki concluded. They sought a chance to betray him, to strike him down when he was in his most vulnerable state. He wouldn’t give it to them. He wouldn’t let a traitor walk on his land.
And so the emperor sent an order to slaughter them all. Every Drican, let it be men, women, or infants—everyone must die. He was swallowed by his wrath that he forgot the caution the witch had given him. And when he took an innocent’s life for the first time, the amount of energy that flowed through him was a hundred times more intense. The witch had lied to him, Yuuki thought. Innocent lives didn’t weaken the spell, it strengthened it. Killing a faithful wife would grant him the same amount of power that he felt when he slaughtered ten vicious men. Killing a child would give him the strength to crack the earth open with a swing of his sword. With every innocent life he took, the greater magic he possessed.
The war lasted for months but it ended in one night. It was not followed by cheers of victory, only eerie silence.
Drican had fallen, and from their ashes, Nymeria rose stronger than ever.
Peace returned once again, but it was never the same. Before he ascended to the throne, the emperor was once a kind, loving husband, and a doting parent to his two children, Yuuta and Rika. Now, his sanity deteriorated with each passing second. The spell got to his head. He became addicted to power. He murdered each of his enemies but they never granted him the same power that he felt when he took innocent lives. He needed it. He needed to kill. But when he had run out of enemies to slay, his lust for power turned him blind.
Yuuta, a twelve-year-old boy at that time, was unable to catch a wink of sleep. It was the night of the full moon when he stepped down from his bed, dragging his little feet as he made his way to his parent’s chamber. He wished to see his mother, wanting to fall asleep with his head on her lap as he listened to the same lullaby she always hummed and sang to him to wash away his nightmares. It was childish of him to still want to be spoiled this way despite his age, but his mother never complained once. She found him endearing, and she was his first love.
The little boy landed a hand on the door, pushing it open as he rubbed his eyes away from sleep. “Mother,” he called but no one came to answer. Stepping further inside the room, he witnessed his mother lay down on the bed, her long black hair strewn across her pillow. Looming above her, trapping her waist between his knees, was the man who wore the same face as his father. But instead of a smile and affection in his eyes, the man bared his teeth, his sapphire eyes glowing as he curled his strong fingers around her neck, choking the life out of her.
Yuuta was petrified, his feet icebound to the ground as he watched with his big blue eyes shaking in disbelief. By the time he found his voice, his mother’s body had turned limp. Her beautiful eyes had lost their gleam, and she stared hollowly at her husband’s face. Yuuta saw the way his father sighed in relief, almost as if he was drowning in ecstasy. Yuuki stared at his hands, laughing as he felt power coursing through his veins. He felt alive, better than he had ever been.
Then the man stopped, sensing the little noise that Yuuta made as his breath hitched in his throat. His father spun his head around, facing his child and the tiny hairs on Yuuta’s nape stood in fear.
That man was not his father.
Yuuta ran as if the devil was chasing after him. He ran without looking back, his lungs burning and his heart bleeding. He returned to his chamber, locked the door, and pressed his back against it. His knees shook underneath his weight and he slid down to the floor. With both hands covering his mouth, he shut his eyes closed and sobbed. His younger sister, Rika, who was staying in the same room, woke up from her sleep at the sound of his muffled cry.
“Yuuta?” She crawled down from her bed, dragging her quilt behind her as she made her way toward her brother. “Yuuta, what’s wrong?” She went down to her knees before him, checking on his face with bleary eyes. “Why are you crying? A nightmare?”
“R-Rika…” Her name was strangled in his throat. “Mother—Mother is—”
The sound of a fist meeting door was heard from the other side and Yuuta jerked violently in surprise, returning to his feet with his arms wrapped protectively around his sister.
“Yuuta,” his father called, his thunderous voice had not been laced with the same tenderness in the last few years. “Answer the door.”
“N-no!”
“Yuuta?” Rika, who sensed the horror in her brother’s voice, started to mimic his body language. “What is happening?”
“Yuuta.” Yuuki’s voice pitched lower.
“Go away, Father!”
Enraged, the emperor smashed the door with one hand. The children shrieked, holding each other tight as they fell to their knees. Yuuta embraced his sister close, placing his palms over her ears to silence her surroundings. The boy was still sobbing fervently, body shivering from head to toe, but in his eyes, there was a hint of bravery that Yuuki had only seen in his worst enemy. No matter how much his feet were itching to run, Yuuta was determined to protect his sister.
“Stay away,” the boy said, peering deep into his father’s eyes with the intensity of a cornered wolf. “I won’t let you hurt Rika.”
The little girl was clutching onto his shirt, clawing at Yuuta’s chest as her tears stained his fabric. “Y-Yuuta…”
“It’s all right, Rika,” Yuuta replied, pressing his cheek against her temple as he maintained his gaze on his father’s face. The tremble in his voice was no longer as apparent as before. “I will protect you.”
The sight of his children crouching in fear before him momentarily broke the spell that fogged his thoughts. The bloodlust in his eyes flickered like candlelight being swayed by the wind before it vanished completely. As if losing his strength at once, the emperor kneeled on the ground, his face contorted in pain as he watched the siblings with his eyes rimmed by his tears.
“I’m sorry,” Yuuki said repeatedly as he watched his trembling hands in horror. He seemed afraid, not of anyone but himself. “Please forgive me.” He reached out a hand, wanting to take his son’s hand but the boy took a step back.
“D-don’t touch me,” Yuuta said. He could tell that whatever it was that possessed his father a moment ago had left its vessel, but his fear made him hesitant.
Grave sadness overtook the emperor’s face. “Yuuta… There are… Voices in my head.” His father confessed, and for the first time in his life, his son watched the hero who brought victory and honor to his empire—to his family—crumble in agony. “I can’t stop them… I had to do it. I needed to do it.”
“You killed Mother,” Yuuta said, each word vocalized with a dagger scratching against his throat.
His sentence robbed Yuuki out of his breath. “Haruka…” He mourned his wife’s name through gritted teeth. “I never wanted to hurt her.” The man shook his head, pleading for forgiveness. “I don’t know what’s happening to me. I’m going insane, Yuuta. I can’t stop it. I just wanted to feel alive and the next thing I knew, I—” The man cast his gaze down to his hands, splaying his palms before he clenched them into fists. “This power is a curse. That witch… I have to find that witch to reverse it but…” He ground his jaw, trying to stop a sob from fleeing out of his mouth. “My wife… My wife is gone… I killed her…”
Yuuta did not believe his words, but he stayed in silence, watching the tears line his father’s cheeks as he cried silently in shame. When the man elevated his face, he swore to him, “I won’t hurt you. I promise I won’t hurt you. My children… You are the only ones I have left.”
There was no guarantee that the emperor would stay true to his promise. Even the man himself didn’t find the strength to believe in it. But despite what he had done, he was still the father who nurtured him, who taught him the meaning of life, the man who made his kingdom feel like home. Yuuta felt his heart break into pieces, even more than it already had.
On the next morning, as the servants cleaned and buried his wife’s corpse, Yuuta and Rika were escorted out of the palace without being given a chance to state their prayers. Afraid that he would harm his children in the future the way he did his wife, Yuuki sent them away to his relatives at the opposite end of the world, far away in the west. He bid his final words not with a goodbye but with an apology, leaving his children confused and shaken, but Yuuta never spoke a word. No matter how frail and heartbroken his father seemed, he would never be able to forget the wicked gleam in his eyes as he rejoiced over his wife’s death.
“I will find a way to cure myself,” his father promised them. “I will return to how I was. Your mother’s family will take care of you until then. Yuuta, Rika, we will be together again soon.”
The children traveled across the sea, accompanied by their most trusted knights to protect them and servants to attend to their needs. They rode the waves, making their way to visit their relatives in the west. That day, the sunset was the most beautiful one Yuuta had ever seen but he could not find the strength to appreciate it. And as if the sky listened to the storm that raged within his chest, the clouds turned dark and the heavens cried for his sake.
The gulls were tossed paper in a storm, flashes of white in the gray, tumbling as they struggled against the gale. Heavy droplets of rain felt like ice daggers on their skin, and the tides churned below them, tilting the ship from side to side. As the children and the servants struggled to find their way to the deck, fighting against the rainstorm, a sudden crash of waves toppled the ship and sent Yuuta’s body flying backward. He was clutching against the railing, screaming for help as he felt his fingers starting to lose grip. Beneath him, the sea rose as great mountains, anger in the form of water, turbulent and unforgiving.
He heard Rika shouting his name, her voice was a whisper among the thunders that rumbled through the sky. Before a hand could reach him, the storm stole him away.
Yuuta fell into the bottomless sea, forced to fight against its rage. And with no weapon in his hands, he let the Gods decide on his fate.

Idk how to see the romantic extent they see in Erwin and Levi's relationship other than being a combination of a devoted soldier and the greatest commander that eventually became brothers in arms I see nothing.
Erwin gave Levi a purpose that radically changed his life and made it meaningful and Levi believes in Erwin's ability to see further, that this man can save humanity and I can't help but point that practically everyone in the survey corps holds the same beliefs, it's just that with Levi he is mentally more composed to go along with Erwin's orders even lf he don't agree with it without further inquiry, without caving or letting his emotions take the better of him as well Erwin believes in levi's ability to help achieve that goal
Furthermore, whenever I read these smartpass they're always displayed in this cool, calm environment the one I witness with my dad and his good old friend.
I only get the "my dad good old friend "vibe with them. For me to have some romantic undertones you gotta at least have more of a colourful interaction.
Lol Levi seeing Erwin as his dad when they are almost the same age gives me a weird image too
I can see the appeal. The tropes of unconditional trust and love of one character towards another are loved in every fandom, regardless of whether it's reciprocated or not. I just don't see Levi as being *in love* with Erwin. He didn't spend much time with him off work at all, whenever he is around someone in stories and side materials it is always Hange. Hell, even when it's Levi and Erwin's smartpass story he goes to him and brings him documents *from Hange* implying he was spending time with them before.
When Erwin was alone in the rain Levi went *with Hange* and Mike to look for him, again, implying he was spending time with them instead.
Compared to Mikasa who always wants to spend time around Eren as much as she can, Levi doesn't seem to have that intetest outside of his military duties.

Dates The Aot Characters Would Take You on
Characters: Levi, Eren, Bertholdt, Reiner, Jean, Armin, Erwin, Zeke, Hange, Porco, Pieck, Miche, Mikasa
Levi: He enjoys going to small tea shops or coffee places While it is aesthetic he mostly likes it because it's secluded and silent, you know, he doesn't have to worry about loud ass Emily and her girls comin' in for their unicorn shit drinks. Though one time you set up a spa date and he showed genuine discomfort. Just the thought of someone else touching him and trying to relax him put him off. But you being the magical S/O, you'd somehow get him to agree💀. Though, he ends up being bossy about who touches him and when to leave him alone.
Eren:
Having a knack for thrill and fear, Eren is addicted to anything violent and will make your makeup go bye-bye. So I suggest paintballing- which is his favourite fucking place, it's his comfort area. Anytime he's sad, he'll get his friends to go with him and will come back with pains around his body. That doesn't stop him from going again though. On a less aggressive note, he loves haunted houses in which you escape actors who pretend to be killers/ghosts. He has most likely pulled tricks against the rules and frustrates workers beyond imagination.
Bertholdt: You must have predicted this but he loves parks, flower gardens to be specific. I'm talking about places like Regent park in England, it's a whole map of paradise. You pass through bridges built upon ponds and have fun feeding ducks, there's a small coffee shop with benches outside everytime you want a break. He also finds a lot of joy in explaining the type of flowers and what they need to grow, their meaning and origins. At home, he probably has his own plants and talks to them. Also, you guys witnessed a pigeon stealing a crisp packet from the mini shop nearby. I just felt the need to mention that.
Reiner: Being less of a thrill junkie than Eren is, Reiner prefers something like an amusement park. Or maybe even something as simple as going to the mall. He finds it fun to listen to you screaming and clench onto his hand during sudden dips on roller coasters, it always gives him a sense of pride for some reason. Though, if he wanted to take a more gentle date with someone he'd go for something extremely simple like stargazing on the roof of his car. (Idk he still has the gremlin urge to take you fucking bungy jumping but he doesn't want to scare you that bad
Jean: Old fashioned picnic dates that you guys make yourselves will never get old to him. The smell of grass even when it's freshly after a rainstorm, the ladybugs you always gasp and show off anytime they land on you- he can't get enough of the simple nature of picnics The best part is cooking with him because he can start the best conversations and has a good sense of humour, especially when cooking, he seems more focused on making you laugh than he does cutting up hard vegetables.
Armin: Cinema dates, which I want to say, what a nerd but I can't talk, I quite enjoy the theatres myself. Armin despises trailers before the movie starts, he accidentily goes on a rampage about it and only realises when you're cocking a brow at him. He sheepishly laughs and suggests you two do something while trailers are still playing. The cinema is in the mall so you two go around trying foods, maybe even going to a small bookstore to discuss some nerdy franchise. During the actual film, he holds your hand when it gets emotional, you can even hear him whimper💀💀
Erwin: He doesn't have much time with you so he tries his hardest to make sure you have fun too during your relationship with him. I like to think he's just a classic man, but I hate the expensive restaurant trope so bad that I'd make a new suggestion that Erwin takes you on vacations more than actual dates. Like, Hong Kong, Tokyo, fricking Venice- Sometimes the gang will come along, Levi, Hange, Miche and Nanaba- but they only make the trip funnier. Though for a simple date, I'd say you both go to a cooking class (It's more fun than it sounds)
Zeke: He likes going stargazing or just going on small picnic dates that end in you both laying down on the mat and pointing at clouds with each other. Usually, Zeke is explaining some worldly theory to you while you're on your back, eyes lighting up at the sight of the clear blue sky, scanning every puffy white cloud that floats by. You even came up with your own theory about how when people die, their souls float like a cloud in the shape of their favourite thing. "So when you die, would I see my boobs in the air?" He'd bluntly respond.
Porco: What a show-off. Porco loves taking you on a ride on his motorbike, thinking he's hot shit every time he leans on it while waiting for you. He's always wearing leather attire for it and it's something straight out of 'bad boy' Wattpad LMAO. Speaking of being a show-off, he loves going to arcades with you and just winning against every single game that you try with each other. He does give you the prizes he wins though, just to see you smile. -
Hange:
I would say Museums but she'd find it boring. Instead, I propose to keep her interested by going on a 20-hour road trip. All of that seems fun to her. You don't really have a destination, wherever you end up, you end up and that's the thrill of it. It's just an adventure for you both. Also, you take turns in sleeping and who drives next and Hange always manages to be the person who drives more hours and sleeps less, she's just more excited. Though, you can't count the number of times you told her to not stick her whole body out of the window💀💀💀
Pieck: She seems like a cat cafe kinda person, or staying in and trying to cook something difficult together and although it can get messy it's very fun and the both of you videotape it for memories later on in your life. Which, is just a habit in your relationship with her. Filming everything and everywhere you go, even filming the part where you buy ingredients at the store, the mic being taken up by your giggles and Pieck's small but funny remarks.
Mikasa: Skating, she loves helping you back because the first time you two went you could not skate at all, always falling on your bum. You eventually get the hang of it and got to do some moves with her.
Mike: Hiking dates and camping is his favourite thing- though maybe a bit scary for you. Believe me, it isn't so bad when Mike is with you, that man knows so much about the wilderness it kinda shocks you Also, you bring a lighter only to realise he can make a campfire by himself, it's like he's secretly a bear. This needs to be said but, he makes sleeping in a tent in the middle of the woods feel safe, somehow.

the way of the househusband — levi ackerman
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ೃ pairing: (husband! levi ackerman x  ceo wifey! reader)
ೃ  There is the “ideal” nuclear family. The one composed of a working husband with a well-paying 9 to 5 job, loving housewife who cooks and cleans, and adoring children who do well in school. However, that idealization is looong gone. What about you and your family? You are the CEO of a Tech Start-up Company who ain’t no trophy wife, Your husband hails from the last line of Ackermans and who temporarily resigns from being a vice executive of your company (just because he doesn’t want to work with young, feeling philanthropist, and genius GenZers) to become a hands-on househusband, and then there’s your little daughter who has the most inquisitive mind and adventurous heart who idolizes her doting father in every shape, way, and form. A month’s absence in your home (due to a business trip) could lead to many many things. But, your husband randomly publishing a self-help book on parenting and being a househusband is not one of those things.
ೃ genre and warnings: modern au, domestic fluff, baby au, husband au,
ೃ  my nav  →  my aot masterlist
ೃ 4k words
ೃ Will be referring to hanji as “aunkling” (a cute nickname that some kiddos use to refer to their non-binary relatives <3) because there are no official non-binary terms for aunt and uncle! + your daughter with levi is named amelia and she is just the most precious cinnamon roll
Tumblr media
It’s done.
The Business Trip is finally over.
A long and painful month of no hugs and playdates with your little princess, Amelia and no time to be pampered with love and affection from your husband, Levi was finally over!
Sometimes, you wonder how you were even able to survive these long-ass trips and conferences. Sure, these month-long trips only happened once a year, but the thought of Amelia getting older and having to miss a day of seeing her grow up and discover the world, really hurt you as all mothers would. Video Calls were enough to satisfy you and give you happy hormones even for just a short while, but still- the longer you’re not with them, the more the yearning lengthens until you’re just riddled with endless thoughts of wanting to get home as soon as possible.
First, let’s set things straight: You are the CEO of a Tech Start-up company who was born into a middle-class family and rose her way up to success. It’s as cliche as it gets but hey! Living a life as if you were in a romantic comedy was the best compliment you’ve ever gotten.
Along with that, as far as rich families in rom-coms and coming of age movies go, are they all dysfunctional in reality? Not really. Or at least you and Levi promised each other not to end up like that. The Rich Girl meets Poor Boy (with a tragic backstory) cliche however? Yea, that’s a pretty accurate way to describe your love story. Meeting the love of your life in a Coffee Shop is actually pretty common and happens to a lot of people apparently. When Erwin Smith, Levi’s best friend (who is too smart and self-aware to fit the role of a rom-com sidekick by the way) approaches your table to ask if he and Levi could sit with you. (Because of all the days the cafe would be packed, it would be that day.) You said yes of course, and Erwin began oversharing details about the raven-haired man and you were all too invested in learning more about him anyway. Levi grew up in the orphanage after his mother had died and his father was the biggest asshole on the planet for never showing his face, he had to fend for himself after he outgrew the foster system. Starting out as an espionage in an illegal underground gambling empire to a bookkeeper at the Smiths’ bookshop. (Although this is a story for another day)
Internally swooning over his pretty eyes and resting bitch face...it didn’t take long until the two of you fell in love and... the rest was history!
Tumblr media
You come home to your lavish yet homey apartment in 21 West End Avenue Manhattan to be surprised by your father-daughter duo absolutely knocked out on the couch. Amelia was snuggled up to her father, her feet on his lap and a sleeping position you could not possibly comprehend, a Disney movie playing in the background, and both of them were wearing matching Minion onesies whilst yours was folded neatly on the coffee table just waiting to be worn by you when you got home.
It was a rare sight to see and you can’t help but just stare lovingly at the wonderful scene before you. Not only was it rare to see Amelia asleep before seeing you (or in the case of your business trips, during your daily video calls with them) but it was also rare to see your husband sleeping so soundly and his insomnia not kicking in.
Amelia hears your footsteps, her eyes are still shut as she tries to predict what you will do next. She finally assesses when she will make her move and surprise you when you place another fleece blanket on top of them and plant a kiss on both of their temples. your daughter’s eyes suddenly flutter open. Her eyes beaming and glowing off the same light that twinkled in her father’s as she jumps off the couch, making sure not to wake up Levi.
“MOMMY!” She screams in the most quiet volume her cute voice could muster. She runs up to you and envelops you in a tight hug, jumping up and down as she does so. “I missed you Mommy! I missed you soooo much! How was sandbox in K-korea!? Was there a lot of sand!? Did you have a lot of pwaymates there!?”
You giggle at your daughter’s enthusiasm, combing your fingers through her hair. “Lili, Sandbox is like the Silicon Valley of Korea. It isn’t necessarily a sandbox like in a playground, baby.”
“OOOH! JUST LIKE SIWICON VAWWEY!” She chirps, tightening her hug and reaching for your hand and squeezing it. “AH WAIT!” She gently pushes you away and makes a beeline to her room. “ME AND DADDY HAVE A SURPRISE FOR YOU! BUT CLOSE YOUR EYES FIRST OWKAAY?!” She calls out from her room and you shout back a “yes!” to her in between your giggles, unable to contain the sudden rush of serotonin your daughter had given you from her simple yet adorable antics.
Another trope that you can debunk is that rich moms can be a hands-on parent too! After your maternity leave ended and when Amelia had finally reached her toddler years, you absolutely made sure that you were going to take care of her every second, minute, hour and day of your life. As soon as she turned two, she became the inquisitive, smart and ever so curious little girl you and Levi had always hoped for. She had your (h/c) hair and Levi’s icy yet warm and loving milky grey eyes. If the color of Levi’s reminded you of dark and stormy clouds, Amelia’s was gleaming. Like that of the clouds after a terrible storm. She was an absolute blessing and although you weren’t a perfect mother, (spoiling her more than you should) Levi was an amazing father. Growing up without parents was tough for him and he was going to make sure that Amelia is going to have an amazing childhood and be surrounded by the love of two parents that he never had and never got to experience.
You always and will forever have trust in Levi. There has never been a day where you doubted him. Despite the impressions and assumptions that people have of him. How he was cold, scary, and even calculating. But, you are always quick to shut down those rumors. They don’t know the Levi Ackerman behind the cold and mighty front he shows. He is a man who has gone through so much and yet has so much love and care to give. How he notices and remembers the littlest details, how he never takes anything for granted and how he loves and cherishes everything so wholeheartedly.
When Amelia turned six, you sadly had to go back to work formally. Right timing too because your genius (with very himbo tendencies) younger cousin, Eren, was about to be part of your start-up company and he had a lot of amazing plans that had to come into fruition. Even bringing in a group of his own friends (who all graduated in MIT by the way!) who are willing to contribute so many amazing ideas and hackathons that were just waiting to happen.
The entrance of these youthful and hopeful genius entrepreneurs also brought about the temporary exit of your very own husband from your very own company. Apparently, working with newly graduated Gen Zers (as a millennial) was too much for him. They were nice and they were going to be a very integral part of the company. But, the boomer inside Levi can’t just can’t keep up with this sudden surge of energy and youthfulness within the higher-ups. It was also a great opportunity for him to take care of Amelia even more. So, you didn’t stop him from doing so!
It’s been a year since he temporarily resigned and became an official-unofficial househusband. Or as your best friend Hanji likes to put it, You are the Girl Boss and he is the Male Wife. Amelia is now 7 years old and she’s currently taking Ballet classes (Levi picks her up during the weekdays, and the both of you pick her up on the weekends) and has developed a hyperfixation over Sanrio Characters and the Disney movie, Frozen. She was growing up to be a wonderful girl and you just can’t wait to hear what she and Levi had done during your absence.
She skips her way back to you, a book tightly clutched in her hands. “SURPRISE!” Amelia gingerly places a book on your hand. You open your eyes and tilt your head in question at the piece of literature she had just given you as you read the title aloud.  “The Way of the House Husband… written by Levi Ackerman.” Your eyes shift to a little circle on the lower side of the cover,  “The husband of (Y/N) Ackerman, the CEO of Survey Corp Tech…!?”
“Daddy and I made a book while you were away!” She claps her hands together and grabs the book back from you, turning it to the first page. “See there’s even a dedication! To (Y/N) and Amelia! The two brightest stars in my galaxy!”
“Oh that’s too cheesy. No way would your dad write something like this out of the blue, Lili.” You scoff, shaking your head in disbelief. Your daughter looks at you with downcast eyes while you were still trying to process that your husband literally just wrote a whole-ass book while you were away. “Who helped publish this so quickly, Amelia?”
“Uncle Erwin of course!” She’s frowning for one second and now she’s beaming at you again. “Please please read it mommy! Me and daddy worked really really hard on it!” She taps the hardbound cover of the book in rhythms. “This is the Amelia Edition! Daddy said he cut out some stuff so that it would be okay for me to read and for me to give to you once you get home! It’s my come back home gift for you mommy!” She moves the book to your lap and hops up next to you on the loveseat that you were sitting on. Before you know it, Amelia is resting her head on your shoulder and coaxing you to start reading to her like it was a bedtime story.
You clear your throat and hold her by the waist so that she can feel more secure in her seat. “Okay… okay… let’s begin shall we? In a kingdom far far away…”
“That’s not how the book is like mommy! Read it properly like the way daddy did!”
“I was just joking, honey. Let’s get started. Rule #1 of the House Husband is…”
Rule #1: Fathers, be good to your children. You are the weight of their world.
“One thing I learned as soon as I was at home practically 24/7 is that your child will be more cautious and weary of you. They will observe you because they look up to you. They will watch your every move, follow you around, and will imitate whatever you say and whatever they hear from you. Talk to them, teach them things they need to know, support them in their hobbies, interests, and even if you have to be the extra princess in her tea party, do it.  The thing is, you will leave an eternal mark on the hearts of your children.”
Amelia got even more closer to Levi when he was finally stationed at home. Always grinning from ear to ear and boasting to her classmates how cool her dad was whenever he would pick her up from school. She was proud to tell them Levi’s heritage even if Amelia never got to meet her Grandma Ackerman and Grandpa Ackerman. When Levi would take her out for errands, may they be groceries, cleaning the house, baking, cooking, laundry, or just going on his morning jog, Amelia would be there to accompany him. In fact, she’s gone shopping with Levi so many times that she has memorized the brand names of cleaning detergent and bleach before she could even memorize the multiplication table.
She’s even caught up with her father’s cynical sense of humor. And because of that, Levi had to tone down on his sardonic jokes around the little girl. Levi wasn’t necessarily physically affectionate but he does soften around Amelia as the little girl never fails to supply him with endless hugs and kisses on the cheek. She may be both a Mommy’s and Daddy’s girl, but the way she looks up to Levi is the kind of father-daughter bond that you hardly see in real life. She aspires to be like him. Even if there were times where she would be scolded by you both, (most especially Levi) she never took that against you.  She sees all the good and positive sides of your husband that others outside of your circle fail to see.
Tumblr media
Rule #2: Let your children know that they have other “guardian angels” who they can rely on aside from their parents.
“My daughter has both my wife and I’s best friends to learn from or to look up to. Her kooky aunkling and her blunt uncle have become one of the most precious people in her life. Even the young ins working at Survey Corp Tech have become older siblings to her and get along with her so well. Remember that there will always be close relatives or friends who can and will help them when they lose their way. Let them spread sunshine and love to others.”
Whether it’s a regular trip to Coney Island or your monthly trips to Disneyland, Hanji or Erwin would totally tag along. Amelia absolutely loves and vibes with Hanji’s quirkiness so well. They would wear matching Mickey Mouse ears, ride the kiddie roller coaster that Amelia wanted to ride on a million times per visit, buy her all the ice cream and treats she wants (despite Levi’s warnings and the reprimanding that Hanji has to suffer from the both of you right after.) They just want Amelia to experience all the fun, the joy, and innocence of living in the moment. As a kid, it’s better if she sees how precious life is, how she should cherish it and that she doesn’t have to grow up so fast just yet.
Erwin on the other hand, brought out Amelia’s intellectual side more. As soon as a new and critically acclaimed children’s book hit the shelves, you bet Amelia has a copy right away. Whenever Levi would take her to Erwin’s bookstore, she wanders around like it’s this huge mysterious archive that can only be accessed by her. The Adults section is forbidden, so were the cheap romance novels in the back, and the books written by youtubers. God forbid she read those. When her Uncle Erwin got her into reading Roald Dahl’s children’s books, you had to watch Amelia run around the penthouse with a little red ribbon tied on top of her hair, wanting to be referred to as Matilda, along with you and Levi having to pretend that she had telekinetic powers for 6 months straight. It was her cutest phase yet and you just know there were many more to come.
There were also Eren and his friends who loved Amelia dearly whenever she came over to visit. Your little cousin refused to be called Uncle Eren and instead wanted to be called big bro, and in which Amelia happily complied. Whenever it was Amelia’s weekly “Visit Mommy at Work” day, she had her own room in your office where Eren and your other young associates would babysit her. In fact, they would actually take turns in babysitting at your condo whenever you and Levi went out for date night. Amelia was introduced to playing video games like Animal Crossing and Pokemon solely because of them (more specifically because of big bro Jean, big sis Sasha, and big bro connie.) They even ended up influencing her to watch anime when her big brother “Minmin” and big sis “Mimi” accidentally left the TV on and Amelia literally binge-watched half of the existing Studio Ghibli movies to this date.
Tumblr media
Rule #3: Your children will think that you are Superman or Iron Man. Make sure to act like them and never let them down by ruining their innocence and imagination.”
(A little note was attached to this page: Please don’t let Amelia read this. Read her a fairy tale instead while skimming through this.)
“It all started when my daughter found an entire encyclopedia on ancient and legendary family clans around the world. The Ackerman clan was on the very first page after the intro and she read through all 50 pages of it. The look of awe on her face when she read that her dad’s ancestors exhibit physical abilities much higher than the average human. In a 7 year old’s mind and vocabulary, that automatically translates to a superhero akin to that of Superman.
Ever since then, My daughter has forced me to become more creative with doing very mundane tasks and chores. I pretend to have superpowers. Such as teleporting around the house whilst cleaning. I tell her to close her eyes or else my teleportation powers won’t work. Then when I cook in the kitchen and she watches me intently, I tell her that the salt and pepper have magical properties that only I can touch and hold because to her, at that moment, I was “Doctor Stwange.”
and one time, when I picked her up from school, she was babbling on about how she told her friends and playmates that she had two superhero parents she was very proud of. Then one of the other kids asked if I was a strong soldier who killed huge humanoid monsters using sharp blades. To which I replied that could have possibly happened in a different universe. Her hearty laughs and giggles whenever she sees me using my superpowers makes me anxious over the fact I have to tell her someday that my powers never existed.”
Tumblr media
Whilst you were on your monthly trip, you and Levi would have private video calls whenever Amelia was finally put to bed. There, he told you about what happened in Amelia’s ballet classes that week and how the single mothers were more persistent than usual.
They could clearly see that Levi was not interested but apparently the fact that your husband waving his ring finger every single time someone approached him wasn’t obvious enough, apparently the fact that he was married made the risk even more worth it to these prying moms who had nothing better to do. It wasn’t until Amelia had enough and respectfully called them out by saying that his dad was married and he was never going to be interested in Karens (a slang word that she learned from Eren and friends) Since then, the invasion of parent to parent boundaries had finally stopped. Levi was very relieved and at ease whilst telling you the story yet you were laughing your heart out at the ingenious remarks of your very own daughter on top of the irresistible charm and looks of your own husband that made single mothers be damned.
Rule #4: The most important rule of all: Love your spouse as you want your children to be loved in the future.
“Since my wife is on a business trip right now as I type this and she may or may not know that I had written this book for her to read when she comes home, my daughter came up to me a few days ago and told me how she missed her mom so much. The video calls we had every night were not enough to satisfy her for the remaining days her mother would be gone. She then proceeds to tell me that she loves the way I love (Y/N). My daughter loved how patient I was and how I supported her through every endeavor that her mother had ever thought up with that brilliant mind of hers. She mentioned how I was there for her through every success and failure, through hardships, difficulties and misunderstandings. My daughter was happy because I stuck with her mother through everything. All the pain, suffering, conflicts that we both experienced individually and as husband and wife. Little ears and little eyes are watching and observing the actions and sweet gestures of their parents. Make sure to remember that.”
“What is gravy (grief) if not love persevewing?” (persevering) My daughter had even recounted a quote from the Disney Marvel show, WandaVision just to prove a point to me. That was when I realized something and decided to list down a few things:
1. The best lovers are the best of friends.
Levi’s relationship with you was rocky at first simply because the two of you didn’t have a lot in common. Your personalities clashed and the two of you could barely make things work in the beginning. He was always well-dressed, on time, and was very prim and proper. However, Levi was cold, strict, and unapproachable. You on the other-hand were quite the opposite. You used to arrive late, didn’t care too much about your style as long as you wore the appropriate outfit, but you were carefree, laidback and friendly. Having to set aside your differences was a process that required sacrifice, time, and effort. It took long and a lot of petty arguments before the two of you fully understood each other, accepted each other's faults and quirks, and became even closer. Both as friends and lovers. You and Levi treat each other not as just the “person I love and I’m married to for the rest of my life”, but also as a best friend for life. Soulmates
2. Their dreams are just as important as yours.
Levi’s dream was to open up a tea shop and start a family with you. That was all he ever wanted. The blissful simplicity of his in comparison to your techy and out of this world ambitions, goes to show how much they weigh as aspirations and wants in life. You have to value your significant other’s dreams and ambitions just as much as you highly value yours. No matter how hard or how simple they are, the both of you can achieve it with the help of each other. The only thing left in your agenda was to open up his long-awaited Tea Shop. You were about to surprise him with the plans of opening one up on the day of his birthday, and you just can’t wait for that day to finally come.
3. You have to let them be free.
Levi absolutely knew what he was getting into when he met you. It was love at first sight when he met you, He drunkenly admitted that one time when he’s had too much champagne on your friday date night. He knew that you were an adventurer. A wandering soul who had a goal and a purpose set in stone. He always knew you were going to reach greater heights and he knew that you would never leave him behind and would always have him go on a ride. He’s always known about your capabilities and your potential and he didn’t want you to stray away from that. And, if the time were to come that you had to leave him behind to soar greater heights, he’d understand that. He’d always let you be free and make sure you don’t fly too close to the sun. That was just how selfless Levi is. The thing is, he knows you would do the same for him. It was a perfect balance.
4. It is an honor to love and to be loved by them.
To be wrapped in the arms of someone who feels like home or has become the definition of home, To be stargazing with on a chilly summer night in where you talk about your future and your plans, To be sharing a cup of coffee or tea with in the morning and begrudgingly dancing with you against his will, To be watching your child playing in her room and do nothing but look adoringly at the most precious soul to have ever been produced by your encompassing love, and to be spending the rest of your life with someone who has done nothing but be with you through every pivotal moment in your life was such an honor.
It is an honor to be loved by Levi, as he is honored to be loved by you.
Tumblr media
“...The end.” You close the book with a deep but contented sigh. Tears were welling up in your eyes and you’re trying your best not to break down in front of Amelia.
“Mommy… are you crying?” She tilts her head in inquiry. “Is it because you’re tired from work?”
“No. baby. These are happy tears, Lili. Don’t worry.”
Before you could speak up once more, you notice Levi had slowly sprung up from the couch, and began to stretch his arms. His eyes widen when he sees you from the opposite couch. “(Y/N)... you were supposed to arrive at 6 AM right? Amelia and I were supposed to pick you-”
Amelia opens her mouth to speak as she jumps down from the couch and crawls up to sit next to Levi. “Daddy! I showed Mommy the book you wrote! She loved it! Right, Mommy?”
“You did?” Your husband perks up from his seat, clearing his throat. “T-that’s not the entire book yet by the way. We had to give back the original copies to Erwin for reprinting. The self-help book is currently rising up the charts to be a New York Times Best Seller.”
Before Levi could properly react, you move to the free space on the couch next to him. Holding his hand and gazing into his forlorn yet loving eyes, you muttered. “Love, that’s amazing. I’m really really proud of you. Next time though, please do tell me that you’ve written a self-help book and dethroned all those mommy authors from the bestselling charts.”
Levi stifles a laugh, stroking your thumb and bringing you and Amelia closer to him for warmth. “I will. I will.”
Amelia looks up at the two of you, squeezing out of the sandwich, so that you and Levi can have your quality time with each other. “Goodnight Mom! Goodnight Dad!” She approaches the two of you so that she can be given her nightly kiss on the cheek as she retreats to her room.
“What if I write a novel too?” You joke, snuggling up to Levi, your husband wrapping his arm around you. “The title could be… The way of the Wife boss?”
“That could be a good sequel. A shared book universe. Then, Amelia could continue the collection when we’re old and sour as hell.” Levi mused.
“Pfft. I guess only time will tell. I love you Levi.”
“I love you too (Y/N).”

Reading your analysis has ruined me because now I see Naruto and Sasuke everywhere. Hinata and Kageyama from Haikyuu(their ship name is actually kagehina too wtf)? just naruto and sasuke minus the gay. The influence of Naruto is incredible team 7 trio seems to be copied everywhere in anime? Nagisa, Karma, Kayano. Armin, Eren, Mikasa. Big 3 in MHA. Yuji, Megumi, Nobara. Norman, Emma, Ray. It's the twogirlsandaguy tvtrope. Is starwars1977 the OG inspiration?American influence in anime interests me
Hi.
I have seen/read SNK and seen the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen anime. And yes, the trope of two boys plus one girl, does stand out noticeably. However, the dynamics are completely different. Where in JJK, the team dynamic among Nobara, Yuji and Megumi (even if the character specification is one skilled introvert, one strong, loud mouth aka protagonist, and one aggressive dreamer) is much more balanced, and not cringe inducing. Unlike Team seven.
JJK's team comes off as more organic and their action reaction to each other is much healthier and contributory to battles in a fair manner. It's team seven but much better. Also, Nobara is exponentially better than Sakura as a stand alone character. She is skillful, considerate even if a little violent and has a spine. She is also not a simpering fangirl, unlike Sakura, and this helps contribute to a healthier team dynamic when seen opposite team seven. Gege is clearly influenced by Naruto, but he definitely made it better, in terms of give and take of a group dynamic.
SNK is different, even if it has the same team trope. SNK is edgier. Mikasa is a very different character as compared to Sakura. Her goals and motivations do revolve around Eren, but it comes from a much deeply seated emotion, and isn't surface level, as opposed to Sakura. She is also selfless and skilled in her own right. She has a clear understanding of the world she lives in, and her backstory is set up to be tragic, which moulds her character and accordingly, informs her bond with Eren. There's substance there, unlike SS. Armin and Eren are also quite different from Sasuke and Naruto as characters and their mutual dynamic is also quite different.
So yes, similar tropes are seen in other animes, from what I have noticed. But it's only surface level. They are also devoid of homosexual/homoerotic subtext and text, unlike in case of Sasuke and Naruto.
Team seven was consistently about Sasuke and Naruto, the rest were just supporting characters. Kishi had to give them a smokescreen for his gay love story, and hence he wrote Sakura as largely irrelevant but acting as kind of a convenient bridge between Naruto and Sasuke, in order to establish their bond to the audience without making it explicit. At the end of the day, Kakashi and Sakura didn't matter to Sasuke. He left the village and only stopped to fight with Naruto in part one, because it was the only bond that mattered to him. He dismissed them without difficulty in the war arc and kage arc, completely refusing to acknowledge their importance or even existence, despite Naruto's urges even during the war.
The only person that mattered to Sasuke in team seven was Naruto, team seven was not even the starting off point. He had already noticed Naruto much before they graduated, and defended him from Sakura's half witted mockery without even having worked as a team.
So I understand why audience would notice similar patterns in other media in this genre, but it's merely superficial in principle. Naruto is a story of love. The love between Sasuke and Naruto. That's why they are different from the rest.

Hi I just feel like I need to ramble and maybe some one else out there feels the same way. So in the AOT I’m not all that big on ships just because shipping really isn’t my thing but I do enjoy it to an extent. I consider myself to be a multi shipper because again the relationships in AOT are so complex and I love all the characters and their dynamics. My biggest “ship” would be Eurihan just because that trio to me is all sorts of fun and I love their dynamic.
But with that being said, I find myself to be drifting farther and farther away from the Eruri aspect just because as I continue to reread the manga and pay attention to the themes of the story canonically speaking I don’t actually see any “romance” between them. The Fannon concepts of Eruri are fun and beautifully tragic with the fan arts and stories especially in modern AU. They are a very attractive couple and I fully understand the hype but canonically speaking I just don’t see it anymore. I love their dynamic as a whole and brings such a complex look to both Levi and Erwins character that their friendship is something to admire.
And with that being said I feel their complexity of characters and their story gets lost within the fandom. I think the term that is used is “shipping goggles” when canon stuff of the original story gets lost or replaced for the sake of the ship. Which in this case I feel happens a lot in Eruri specifically.
Now I really don’t want people to feel I am bashing Eruri. I’m obviously a fan with my own fan art and my interactions with mutuals so please no one take offense. This is just a quirk I have in every fandom when canon material gets lost for the sake of a ship.
Specifically with Levi.
Now I understand my biases consider Levi is my favorite character and I truly Kin him. But when I watch edits or read DJs or even just scrolling through things like tumblr or Twitter I find myself avoiding the Eruri tags because I get so frustrated when all I see if Levi’s entire character being based around Erwin. The concept that Levi is only alive to fulfill Erwins promise or he only fights for Erwin and completely derailing his character to be centered around Erwin is frustrating.
Levi fights for all the scouts since the very beginning. When else first meet him and he promises the dying scout he would eradicate the Titans, this is a shared dream the scouts had and has said he will do what he can for All of them. Not just Erwin.
Now this isn’t to disregard Erwins importance to Levi. Erwin gave him a purpose to live, he was his friend and trusted comrade and felt he was the best for humanity. Erwin is important to Levi no one is saying other wise. He just isn’t the center of Levi’s world.
Levi trusted Erwin because he saw something bigger than himself and Levi wanted to help Erwin get there because Levi himself if a very loving and selfless character. This I find to be so beautiful of Levi’s (and mikasas) character.
When Levi learns the truth behind Erwins actions and his selfish reasons to fight for humanity was for the sake of seeing in the basement really sent Levi into turmoil. (I feel this is WITs fault for not expressing this properly in the anime) this is why he continued to pester and push Erwin to know his motives past the basement, because Levi wanted to believe he was this selfless leader he had been finessed into believing he was (because we can’t forget canonically speaking Erwin is a con man and enjoys gambling which makes him and great leader)
Levi tells Erwin to die so he would continue to go down with the facade he was a selfless leader and to continue to live up to the expectation. Levi accepted this fault of Erwin just as he had accepted the faults of all his comrades and their selfish actions.
Levi was canonically devoted to Erwin, but not in the romantic way.
Erwin also never expressed a “interest” in Levi in that matter outside of their friendship and Levi’s abilities. It also should keep in mind that Erwin was ultimately in love with Marie, and chose not to have a family and a wife (which he actually wanted) to avoid having a widow. We can head cannon all day long about how “he realized in his last moments” or “behind the scenes” or interpreting smart press stories a certain way to fit the narrative but it’s just important to remember the difference between cannon material and your own HCs.
Now I know a lot of people will read this and think “wow a levihan shipper wrote this” and you would be right I also ship levihan as well. And they are also not cannon in a relationship as well but the romantic implications for them specifically cannot be ignored because you don’t like them. Levi and Hange are canonically best friends. They are known as the “abnormals” of the scouts. They know each other the best. Their relationship is so complex it cannot be defined as a friendship. (Even Moblit admits he doesn’t have a bond with Hange like Levi does) and it’s okay if you just see them as friends, and I honestly don’t blame a lot of people who do considering WIT really bit the bullet with missing key Levi and Hange moments to better fit their dynamic (I’ve seen people say they aren’t even good friends and that breaks my heart they are besties )
And honestly why wouldn’t you want to ship levihan? This ship in my opinion is the least problematic with the least controversy to it. It’s comforting and sweet and gives a sense of love and family. It’s literally a best friends-> lovers trope. Their friendship is what makes this ship in my opinion so pure and honestly why I fall in love with it more everyday.
And I know some will say “what about Moblit?” And honestly, it bothers me how much he is used to argue levihan because I ultimately feel his character also gets dumbed down as a default for Hange just for shipping and it bothers me too.
*and honestly guys Hange and Moblit isn’t even that great in a ship since considering Moblit became an anxious alcoholic trying to take care of Hange and Hange would get so caught up with their work they wouldn’t even notice. NOTE: they obviously cared for each other as comrades and Moblit felt Hange was needed for humanities survival and cared for them obviously but just my opinion I don’t see that ship working in my opinion.
But in reality guys, I never saw any of these characters “getting together” because they’re soldiers. Their hearts were dedicated to the cause of saving humanity first so that’s the beauty of AOT and the ambiguity of the characters relationships with one another because ultimately they all have attributes to love and benefit each other. Even with the forest scene and the plane for Levi and Hange, I never expected A “happy ending” for them in the sense of platonic or romantic because that doesn’t fit their canon narratives. Levi was destined to be the last soldier standing and brings the complexity of being the perfect soldier with a human heart.
*though the implication of romantic feelings never being acted on were there because they indeed paralleled with eren and mikasa
Levi’s literally means “attached” he attaches himself to the people he cares about and dedicated his strength and ability to help others gain their hopes and dreams.
Erwin tragically lost his humanity to become the devil for the sake of humanity which ultimately left him fruitless to his venture.
Hange taking on the burden of making the tough decisions and shouldering the weight of the deaths of the soldiers and Erwins legacy left them feeling loss and useless until their sacrifice.
All these characters have such complexity to them, they are all deeper than their fannon ship and should be appreciated and the narrative shouldn’t be shifted for the sake of a ship.
Levi didn’t fight to the end for just Erwin he did it for all of them.
So again, sorry for my rambles and I hope there will be those who read this and understand where I am coming from with this and understand though I will continue to ship all three, it still makes me sad I feel I can’t interact with some without them destroying entire characters for the sake of the ship.
So again love ships not ship wars. That’s the fun part when ships aren’t cannon you can just mix and match whenever you feel like it ❤️❤️

EXTENDED LIST OF THINGS THAT ARE WRONG WITH CHAPTER 139
ymir the founder fritz, aka the most powerful and compelling plot device that isayama could have ever employed in order to explain the origin of the titans, the inherent slavery of the eldian people, and also everything else wrong in the world, was emptied of all value and purpose when she was revealed to have loved her abuser and oppressor. her life-long struggle to break free from the slave mentality that was pounded into her since childhood turned out to be... totally hollow. the woman's real purpose was to keep loving the man who cut off her tongue, raped her as a child and eventually had her cannibalized by their daughters when she failed to survive a murder attempt on his person. which makes for a very pinpoint parallel with eren, tbh, but he gets a whole paragraph all to himself later. amor vincit omnia should not become a convenient fix-it trope so that stuff can magically make sense in less than 50 pages. not to mention that this makeshift “solution” doesn't account for countless plot holes, that would only make sense if ymir was an abuse survivor looking to get her agency back. and even if i was keen on excusing the sloppy writing, i still wouldn't let the whole romanticisation of rape and trauma thing slide so easily. by giving a young victim like ymir fritz romantic feelings and a blind devotion towards her rapist, isayama is basically conveying a very pitiful and toxic message, one he refuses to even dignify with a realistic explanation for the thousands of readers who couldn't make a sense of it. the way this twisted version of love seems to be universally accepted by all the characters in the last chapter, as they just shrug it off like some sort of inevitable superior force that works in mysterious ways, made me wanna gouge my eyes out and never read another word again
mikasa's arc. mikasa had the potential to be the only character in the entire manga to come out on top when all was said and done. she had openly opposed eren's idea of a genocide. she had left the scarf behind when he voiced his hatred for her. she seemed ready enough to sever the proverbial umbilical cord and move on, live a life with pride, knowing how she could have outgrown her silly, dependent, obsessive old self. she might have started out as a yandere caricature, a passive and annoying side-effect to having eren as the main character, but she could have done so much better later on. she, too, just like ymir fritz, might have broken free, if only isayama liked liberated and strong women. she had the range. she had the potential, the backstory, everything. given the chance, she could have redeemed herself. but did isayama care? nope. he just threw her to the sickos in the fandom and said “here's your little psycho doll. do what you will with her. also, she's the key to understanding the superior force that works in mysterious ways aka love aka all the nonsense i'm actually too lazy to commit to”. and so, mikasa is as inconsequential in the ending as she ever was as eren's ever-present bodyguard, if not more, because now she's even refusing to look ahead and fight. two things that she at least tried to do every so often back when eren was alive. not only she surrendered to her own mental illness, but she even saw it turned into a pretty fantasy that the readers can idealise (again, romanticisation of all the wrong things) and that she'll never be able to escape so long as she lives. what's worse, she doesn't even want to, because in this manga we love downgrading and being stuck in the past, as the worst possible versions of ourselves.
historia's pregnancy. it shouldn't even have happened in the first place, unless it was dictated by historia's explicit desire to have a child precisely when she asked for one and by that one unnamed farmer guy and nobody else. whether that was the case or not remains, to this day, still shrouded in mystery because, again, isayama didn't think of coming clean about any aspect of historia's sudden decision. the notion that she might have been raped or submitted to something she really didn't want simply for the drama of it leads to some pretty terrifying implications. i have already explained countless times how it didn't even make sense for eren to be so adamant about rejecting the 50 year plan on account of not wanting historia to be breeded like cattle, titanised, and eventually devoured by her children, if he was just... gonna let her have her way, she only had to ask him nicely. why ever would historia need eren's permission to have a child? what was she even trying to tell him in chapter 130? why did eren tell her something as pivotal as the genocide plan if the friendship between them wasn't any different from any other in the 104th? why would eren take the risk to meet her in secret and suggest that they do something as radical as fighting the mp's or running away, if all she had to do was just... ask that he let her get pregnant? i suppose that was just a bait for a very specific side of the fandom, at this point, as the extent of the entire cryptic conversation from ch. 130 was never covered, and we were probably just supposed to forget about it. I can only forgive isayama for basically baiting me into shipping erehisu because he still gave historia a decent wrap-up in the ending, she looked in control and happy enough with her new life, which is something i warmly wished for her. she seems to be in a better spot than most of her former comrades, and virtually, she is the true inheritor of eren's original (and later disowned) ideology, as she is the one who will lead eldia into the future as a free nation, whatever that may mean for them now that titan powers are no longer a thing. I'm very proud of her and generally i am happy with how things played out for her and yeah, thinking back on it with a colder mind... i wouldn't have wanted it any other way, ships be damned
wHY WAS LEVI IN A WHEELCHAIR????? like..... scars aside, he was up and about in one panel, and in the next he was disabled... that was just... idk?? weird but i suppose isayama went overboard to provide us with some residual dramatic value here
the genocide being just a red herring. APPARENTLY eren never believed that the genocide was a solid way to achieve freedom. his true intention was to antagonize himself so that his friends would be hailed as heroes, but like... why... he didn't even achieve the complete annihilation of conflict in the world by doing so? his friends might be heroes now, but they're going to spend the rest of their lives fighting for their very lives. if anything, eren sparked new conflicts and made the new order so much worse for the eldians, as they have no choice but to keep fighting, except with the same weapons as anybody else now. he basically doomed his people to a bleak future of war and possibly extinction. he killed 80% of the entire world to cause nothing but a disappointing regretful outcome, and in the end he even disowned everything he ever believed in. in comparison, zeke's euthanasia plan was some genius level shit that would have achieved the same result as eren, except with not nearly as much bloodshed.
the parasite. again, great idea, poor execution. what on earth happened to it? it was the Scientific Shit that made titans happen one moment, and then gone in the next, wrestled to death by a buff war criminal with ptsd... my disappointment is over the roof
eren himself. like, as a whole. oh, what's not to regret about the 180 eren did in the finale? witnessing a mc forsaking every relevant trait that's ever made him who he is, is simply painful on the eyes. isayama basically went and said “remember eren yaeger aka the suicidal blockhead who would sacrifice everything in order to achieve freedom? yes? well forget about him, you've got aaron yogurt now.” …... who even is this man? when he broke down and cried in front of armin, whining like a baby that he wanted mikasa to never move on from him, i legit got second-hand embarassment. I felt actual shame for the way isayama handled his characterisation. like... he is a mass murderer, ok... how can he just... kneel down and cry about his step-sister whom he never did anything to date anyway like it's nothing??? armin is right to be pissed at him but he's pissed for the wrong reasons, sadly. I don't even want to tackle the topic of eren murdering his own mother, as he basically confessed to going through life on autopilot because the founding titan just erased all his feelings, gave him superior knowledge of all things and compelled him to go with the flow of things, aka the exact opposite of what he's been preaching ever since day 1. W HAT on earth man. like i said in point #1, eren's crush on mikasa is actually very frightening too, and it leads us back to that one dark force that overpowered even ymir fritz. eren is in love with a girl who's obsessed, in denial and damaged. and what's worse, mikasa reciprocates his feelings, even though eren always overlooked her or manipulated her. ymir fritz kept misunderstanding all those red flags from the king as love, probably. this is really not a story of breaking the cursed cycle, because it seems to me that everyone has returned full circle in the end.
CONCLUSION: nothing isayama or anyone might have said in interviews or elsewhere could have prepared me for this raging shitfest. the entirety of that last chapter was farfetched to say the least, everything looked half-hearted and rushed, clumsily glued together because the real isayama died and somebody else had to ghostwrite the ending for him. I am sorry if i do sound a bit disillusioned about the whole thing and can't bring myself to be outraged either, but i've been way too invested into this manga for nearly a decade, and now it all blew up in my face, so i guess i no longer give it the power to upset me lol

they're intimidated by Zeke's sexy voice and his wit.
Eren is a fucking knucklehead, the simps aren't going after him because he has anything else to offer besides some greasy-ass hair and the fact that he pretends to scowl.
Zeke knows exactly what to say, how to say it and when to say it. the beard is the icing on the cake and that can easily be shaven.
whereas Eren has ZERO game. none. fuckboy!Eren is a lie and the only one of the cast that has the actual charisma to pull that trope off is Jean.
Zeke is the second-best Jeager and Eren deserves no pussy.
first best Jeager is Carla obviously.
listen. even is closer to incel than anything else

Hi! I would love a bnha and aot matchup, if you're not busy! It sounds super fun!
My name is Rita, I'm an aquarius and an estp, if that helps at all. I'm a girl, she/her pronouns. My hogwarts house was hufflepuff, last I checked. I'm bisexual. My love language is physical touch.
So, at first when you meet me I seem super laid back. I'm not, and I tend to be very nitpicky with people when we first meet, hard for me to really click with someone. I mostly keep it to myself tho, no point starting fights for no reason. If I don't like you, I absolutely will talk shit to my besties tho lmao. I'm pretty fun and I have a good sense of humor, really good at cheering people up. I can be pretty blunt, so sometimes I come off as mean, but I mean well. I don't hold grudges and I try to be helpful to everyone, even if I don't like them. I'd do anything for my friends and I love them dearly. One of them could come to me saying they killed someone and I'd be like damn, deserved. Family? Not so much lmao. I'm pretty difficult to impress, and I hate people that try too hard. Also hate dramatic people, childish people, etc. I'm pretty impulsive and have been known to make some questionable life choices. I'm not shy at all, and I'm kinda the designated "talker" of the group. I'm pretty realistic and down to earth. I seem a little stupid when people first meet me, but I kinda use that to my advantage. I love absolutely anything vintage, old, or antique. I love to cook and clean, and I hate untidiness. I speak six foreign languages, it's kind of my main hobby. I love fashion and makeup and I'm all around pretty girly. I take most of my personal style from korean fashion. I like pop music and I love to dance and go clubbing. Pretty outgoing all around and always down for a new experience. That's pretty much everything about me
Hope it's not too much! Take as much time as you need! You seem super cool btw
a/n: thanks! i’m also an aquarius and we are completely the opposite. that’s kinda funny but let’s go <3 (also that means your birthday is around so happy belated or soon birthday!!)
how to enter. <3
rita has been paired up with…
— jean kirschtein and mina ashido
… your song with mina is lovesick girls by blackpink and with jean it’s can’t hold us by macklemore
Tumblr media
jean!
(jean instantly came to my mind while reading your ask so let me give you some fluff! i love him sm)
you and jean would absolutely be the power couple of the century. like can you imagine?
however, i’m pretty certain your trope would be „enemies to lovers.“ (kinda like the thing eren has going on with jean in the first season)
maybe he‘d be a little irritated by your personality once he gets to witness it. because he seems to get irritated by charming and popular people. and you‘d be annoyed by his childish tantrums.
will definitely tease you if you make an idiotic statement but would be absolutely mesmerised if he gets to witness your actual cleverness. sly fox right here!
but!!! he will quickly fall head over heels for you. like really. the way you treat your friends and comrades makes him respect you so so much!
maybe he kinda wants to be like that, too. i can totally see that.
anyway. once you two get to explore each other’s personalities, you will realise how perfectly you match.
you both have a good sense of leadership after all. that’s what settled it probably.
he will protect you. at all cost. he might even kill for you and you most definitely help him hide the body.
that’s the kind of relationship you two would have. (i’m already a fan!)
he always comes to you first if he ever carries a burden or a good amount of pain inside his heart. and you will always talk it out, slowly stroking his arms.
obviously he loves joking around sometimes but he actually longs for serious talks sometimes. he never realised you were this down to earth after he got to know you.
i’m certain that arguments would go pretty roughly though. but you probably would be the one to set things right again.
Tumblr media
mina!
(i probably don’t have to explain this match but you are literally like her.)
so naturally! soulmate trope! and friends to lovers!! (can’t stress this enough.)
obviously you two would be the best friends at first. literally soulmates.
that’s what makes her growing feelings difficult though. she is gonna be really scared to mess up this friendship.
but she kinda wants to mess it up. make you her girlfriend. mina is absolutely confident so she will make a move soon either way!
you two would make everyone’s day better. you are both energetic and charming so it would be absolutely fluffy.
and i feel like mina will give you the cutest nicknames and take pictures of you all the time.
naturally you would be best friends with ochaco and i can definitely see mina wanting to go on a couple date with deku and ochaco.
some classmates would definitely get annoyed by you two (i’m not gonna say names but… bakugou). either way you stick up to each other.
since mina is kind of stubborn though, i fear there will definitely be some arguments but nothing too dramatic.
she loves you so much and will kiss or hug you all the time.
also!! you are the best cook for her and always make sure to eat lots of delicious food with her. (+fancy at home restaurant dates!)
have a good day! and it’s really impressive that you know 6 languages! omg. i need to take some notes! 💘

blip 💖💖💖 i wanted to ask something different than the 50 fanfic questions: tell me about how you started shipping jeankasa
Tumblr media
Cal💖💖💖💖💖💖💖 omg this question gave me butterflies🥺 I don’t know if I remember this correctly but…
I just thought it was cute at first? When Jean saw Mikasa walking past and he was like “omfg girl of my dreams she’s perfect” and boy even worked up the courage to TELL HER. Little blushy baby. Omfg. Witnessing that was nightmarish. But it was just really cute and childish and “Eren I’m so jealous I hate you how am I not better than you in every way!”
But I didn’t really ship ship them until the later seasons where I saw that Jean still likes her but in a quieter way? And his little crush for her develops beyond just the fact that he finds her really pretty. He tells her like it is when she was defending Eren saying how not all of them are willing to blindly die for him. And despite not agreeing with her and telling her exactly why, he still cares for her and respects her 😔
Jean valiantly swooping in to save her? His calm “Connie, stop it…” when Connie was about to go off about Eren being a dick and Mikasa looking at Jean after Connie went off anyway. And Jean just looking away because he didn’t wanna make matters worse because he knows she’s already feeling bad as it is. And him saying it’s not fine, it’s not okay, and asking again what Eren did to hurt Mikasa. Ugh. Please😭🔪
Jean doesn’t let his lil crush get in the way of their comradeship, doesn’t swing it about and doesn’t make it her problem? It’s like he understands Mikasa will always love Eren and he respects that. And that’s when it hit me! Jean really sees her! He sees her the way I would like her to be seen? Lets Mikasa be the main character😭 Eren is such a loud angry Aries boy and it just overshadows Mikasa and it’s always about him. But when Mikasa is with the other kids and Jean I see her more clearly and I feel for her more! I also think the jeankasa maps onto the growth of both characters really well?
Also I kinda like the hurt comfort trope where it’s convenience at first. They fool around because it’s convenient and they’re both… There. And Mikasa’s like I can’t love you the same way and Jean’s like yeah I know it’s okay. And he loves her quietly and they just hang around each other and have loads of fun with their friend group. And there are moments here and there when she laughs with him and she’s silly with him and he laughs when she says something funny and she thinks huh… okay… and it’s just a slow burn realisation that this is something beautiful and gentle and patient and kind 😔🔪 and I also love the idea that you can love multiple people in one lifetime and have those different loves be brilliant and painful in their own distinct ways.
And I think in a way writing jeankasa for me is my love letter to Mikasa who deserves good things💖 and to Jean whom I’ve always loved as a character✨ they’re both good kids. They’re good for each other😌
(Sorry this turned into an essay💖 I really love them! And I love you too🥺💖)

THE SON OF THE USURPER
As the wet season hits its peak, the island is grappled with cold weather. Year-round the temperatures do not vary much, but because of the rain that pelts the earth for months, the island cools off. The boys manage to survive the rainy season through a combination of teamwork and wits. It turns out that Yuuta may have thought that Eren was a quick learner, but it’s Yuuta who learns quicker.
First, it’s the Valyrian language. Over the course of the first few months they spend together, the boys teach each other everything they know. Yuuta often points to things or draws pictures in the sand and tells Eren what the words for them are in his language. And in turn, Eren does the same. While Eren retains the basics, Yuuta is much better at it. In Nymerian, Eren can form one-word replies and a three-word sentence at best, but Yuuta? In the course of one rainy season, Yuuta already begins to understand Eren’s thoughts. A few months isn’t enough for full-on conversation, but it’s enough to form an understanding of each other when it’s needed.
It makes Eren self-conscious, too, that Yuuta is such a natural at things. Where Eren struggles, Yuuta excels. And where Eren excels, Yuuta learns to catch up to him. While Eren battles with feelings of inferiority, Yuuta only is ever encouraging to the young hybrid. Yuuta offers the sincerest of smiles whenever Eren speaks Nymerian (or at least tries to). Yuuta simply giggles whenever Eren does something that is strange to him, but never out of malice. And late nights when Eren cries, Yuuta never teases him or calls him a crybaby, he only offers the comfort of his gentle hands. Sure, Eren is self-conscious, but only because he thinks his newfound friend is perfect in every way possible.
As the weeks go by, Yuuta grows tired of being relegated to firewood gathering. He begins to accompany Eren on his ventures outside of the cave, much to Eren’s dismay. Yuuta doesn’t know anything about hunting, and coming along on a hunt with no skills is a burden to the hunter. But when Yuuta asks him with such a pleading look in those crystal blue eyes, Eren can’t find it in him to say no.
Eren gives Yuuta a handcrafted spear, much like the one he had pointed at Yuuta’s throat all those months ago. Eren arms himself with a bow and arrow he had made from jute plant fibers and the wood from fallen branches. Yuuta had watched Eren make the bow and arrow with so much interest Eren had blood pooling on his face for hours. Why was he watching me like that? Eren had wondered. Did his people not have hunting weapons? Eren receives his answer a few days later when Yuuta creates his own bow and arrow using the same methods Eren had used.
Yuuta isn’t given the chance to use the spear or the bow and arrow, because Eren is quite adept with his weapons. Rabbits and rats are child’s play in the face of Eren’s bow. It is not soon after a few more hunting trips that Yuuta asks Eren to teach him archery.
Eren searches the earth in the pouring rain for a target with Yuuta following closely behind. The wind from the storm has knocked off many fruits from the trees. On the ground rests these fruits, in greater quantities than the two boys could eat by themselves. Eren picks one up and using a knife made of flint, stabs it onto the bark of a nearby tree.
“Zaldrīzes gerpa?” Yuuta asks, his voice unsure as Eren readies their target. Eren’s impressed that Yuuta remembers the name for this spiky pink fruit: dragonfruit.
He turns to Yuuta with a smile and affirms his guess with a simple, “Kessa.” Yes.
They shuffle back with bows in hand, standing a considerable distance away from the tree. It’s hot and humid, and the rain, a gentle mist, does nothing to cool them down. Yuuta wears a thin linen shirt and pants that he found within Eren’s chest of treasures. Eren wears just a thin pair of pants that he had cut off at the knees. He runs so hot that his body sweats more than the rain that pours on him, so he doesn’t bother with wearing clothing over his chest.
As they both stare at the target, readying their arrows, Yuuta suddenly asks, “Why don’t we make it a bet?” His smile turns just a tad bit mischievous.
“What is bet?” Eren asks aloud. He’s never heard that word before.
“Like a game,” Yuuta says. The word game, Eren knows. Eren and Yuuta have come up with ways to waste the time, and these ways mostly consist of what Yuuta calls games. Sometimes the games are feats of strength: who can throw a knife the farthest, who can run and touch that rock down the beach the fastest. These games, Eren usually wins. Even with his slightly shorter stature. Eren is built bigger and stronger than the leaner Yuuta.
Other times, the games are more variable: Yuuta, using a rock to mark the cave surface, has invented games that involve scratching markings into the ground. The games require just a bit of cunning and foresight, and these games are a toss-up. Yuuta wins sometimes, other times he lets Eren win—if only to see Eren’s smile and his eyes light up like the crystalline gems they are.
All this to say that Eren has come to quite like playing games with his human companion.
“Okay, let’s play game.”
Yuuta knows he possesses no skill at archery, and Eren knows this too—so what is Yuuta on about?
“If you miss the fruit you have to wash clothes for a week,” Yuuta says. Eren audibly groans. He hates having to clean their sweaty garments. It’s why Eren, before Yuuta’s arrival, had spent much of his time naked. But after the first night together, Yuuta had awoken to see him without clothes and gasped so loud it frightened the nearby birds. After that incident, Eren learned to wear clothes more often.
“And you?” Eren asks, pointing in his direction.
“Hmm… If I miss, I will cook for a week.”
But you like cooking, Eren thinks as he pouts. The game seems unfair to him—Yuuta has to do something he likes while Eren has to do something he hates.
I don’t know how to shoot the bow, Eren, Yuuta counters from within his mind in Valyrian. Is it a bit strange that they can have full conversations without even speaking? Yes. But after months together they’ve gotten used to such a phenomenon. They don’t understand it, but they do it regardless.
You’re so stubborn, Eren groans inwardly.
Yuuta chuckles as he lifts the bow and positions it parallel to his shoulders. He squints one eye, focusing on the pink fruit as his target. Eren watches as Yuuta draws the string back. He has the urge to help Yuuta and fix his arm posture, but a game is a game. If Yuuta misses, it’s fair and square.
When Yuuta releases the string, the arrow misses the tree entirely, landing on the wet grass before the tree trunk with a pathetic thud. Yuuta doesn’t care that he has to cook for a week. His cooking is much better than Eren’s, and he prefers to do it anyway.
Eren, on the other hand, does not want to wash their clothes. When he lines up his arrow, he does it with hopes of making the shot. It’s not even a difficult shot, but with something like this on the line he feels like he’s on a trial, proving himself to his fellow hunter.
He says to Yuuta, “Watch this.” Inwardly he adds, I’ll show you how it’s done.
Eren squints and looks at his target, readying his fingers to release the bow. But perhaps he had been too concentrated on the bow and less on Yuuta because when Yuuta replies, Yuuta is standing so close that Eren can feel his breath on his neck.
“Good luck with your shot,” Yuuta coos into his ear.
Eren’s so surprised his fingers let go of the string, sending the arrow flying off in a completely wrong direction. Heat crawls up Eren’s neck and paints his face scarlet as Yuuta takes a step back, laughter erupting from his chest.
“T-That’s not fair,” Eren stutters. “You cheat!”
But when Eren turns around and sees Yuuta’s boyish smile, his chest taken by a fit of giggles, Eren can’t stay mad. He finds himself laughing too. He knows he can only ever smile when assaulted by Yuuta’s sincere laughter.
“Sorry. You just looked so serious,” Yuuta smiles and even the rain that soaks his body can’t wash away the happiness that radiates from him.
You just want me to wash all the clothes, Eren grumbles mentally, though his smile doesn’t fade.
“A bet is a bet,” Yuuta chides.
“I’m hungry,” Eren says, bringing his bow down to his side. He had intended to practice more archery with Yuuta, but the teasing is leaving his heart and his face in flames. “You better cook us a feast.”
Yuuta’s stunned for just a moment when Eren reaches out and takes Yuuta’s bow and arrow into his hands. He places all of their equipment under one arm and begins to make a mad dash for their cave.
Last one to our cave is a rotten rabbit, Eren thinks with a chuckle as he darts away.
Yuuta can’t help but laugh again. You mean egg? The saying is rotten egg, Eren.
Eren ignores him, picking up speed on his agile, strong feet. Yuuta doesn’t chase after him, pondering Eren’s words as he watches the dragon-boy run towards the beach in the rain.
Because for the first time since Yuuta arrived, Eren had called it our cave.
***
Yuuta has become accustomed to the salty smell of the sea, and it’s the scent that fills his nose now as he stares out into the distance, observing how the moonlight casts light over the dark crests of the sea’s waves. Just below the thrashes of water, he can hear the chirping of bugs and the scurrying of animals into their hideouts for the night. Before, Yuuta had come to regard this island as foreign; now this scenery paints a picture of home.
Yuuta knows that much time has passed, though he doesn’t know exactly how much. What he does know is that it must be at least a year. They have lived through another rainy season. Eren and Yuuta have grown a year taller, a year stronger. Yuuta has learned much of the ways of hunting, enough for him to be able to fetch his own meal if Eren’s too tired to do it himself. Eren has learned many Nymerian words, and Yuuta can say he knows much Valyrian too, enough for them to hold a conversation. Eren no longer wonders if one morning Yuuta will grab a knife against him, nor does Yuuta ever wonder if Eren will hurt him. A year has built trust and friendship between them, a bond that they know is unbreakable. A year has turned them into best friends.
Over the past year Yuuta, too, learns about Eren’s past. Eren doesn’t tell his story all at once–he tells it in pieces. When he made a new knife for Yuuta, Eren told him, “This is a trick my father showed me once before we went on a hunt.” When Yuuta chided Eren for doing something dangerous, Eren said with a laugh, “You sound like my mother.” When Eren burned down several trees with a burst of his blue fire and Yuuta remarked how strong Eren had gotten, Eren replied, “This is nothing. You should have seen my friend Mikasa. She was a prodigy. She burned an entire camp down with her flames.” And one night, as Eren shed tears, he murmured, “Thank you for not laughing at me. My brother always called me a crybaby.” When Yuuta replied, “You do cry a lot, though,” Eren spent the rest of the night facing the cave wall in protest. For Yuuta, all these moments with Eren told him the unspoken tale: that Eren had once lived a life full of people, one that was full of joy, before it was stolen from him, leaving him to face the world alone.
“What’s the outside world like, Yuu?” Eren’s voice cuts through the warm air like a knife, the sound audible over the waves crashing ashore. His long brown hair, even longer than it was when they met, is fastened into a high ponytail (courtesy of Yuuta) and it tumbles over his shoulders. Eren still does not wear much clothes, lying beside Yuuta wearing only a pair of cut-off trousers, but Yuuta thinks he is used to it now (or at least, his heart is no longer threatening to break past his ribs at the sight). Yuuta sits beside him in similar dress, though he always wears a linen shirt over his chest–even after all this time he still is prone to the cold.
Eren’s voice breaks Yuuta out of his thoughts, returning him to the beach where they sit down together admiring the stars. Yuuta lays back against the sand, resting with one arm behind his head. His hair is longer now, and it tickles his neck as he lies down. He stares into the sky, the stars shining bright on this cloudless night, and he thinks of home.
He remembers the palace in Nymeria, surrounded by its beautiful forests of cedar and cherry blossoms, its lakes lined with lotus flowers. He remembers the way fireflies used to illuminate the air at night during the warm summers like this one. He thinks of his sister Rika’s smile whenever he used to place flowers in her hair and his mother’s warmth as she told him stories. For a fleeting moment he even lets himself think of his father, who was once gentle and kind before his grapple with some curse he said had been placed on him by a witch. Yuuta barely remembers that terrifying night so long ago, having pushed it to the recesses of his mind. He wants only to think of the happy days in Nymeria, and it is those that he wishes to tell to his dragon-hybrid companion.
“It’s quite beautiful, Ren,” Yuuta says with a smile. “There are lands made of ice to the north. To the south, lands that are hotter than this island, full of jungles and animals you’ve never seen. The palace sits in the middle of our lands. It’s surrounded by fields of trees and bamboo. There are lakes, too, behind the palace, that look like they’re made of crystals. And we have lots of different fruits too. They’re not as crazy as the ānogar fruit,” he adds with a chuckle, and that makes Eren laugh too. “But they’re really sweet. The lake is surrounded by bushes of strawberries. I think you’d like those fruits a lot.”
“It does sound beautiful,” Eren remarks as he stares out into the dark sea.
“I wish to show you someday,” Yuuta adds, though his voice becomes softer and unsteady. He’s not sure if Eren would ever want the same thing. Would he want to travel to the lands of the outsiders?
“If it’s with you… Maybe,” Eren answers Yuuta’s unspoken question. His cheeks burn but he knows the darkness of night hides his flustered face, so he doesn’t move to hide from Yuuta. “I… I trust you, Yuu,” he adds, turning his eyes down towards the sand between his knees, “I always thought that outsiders would kill me like they did to my family. But you didn’t. You weren’t afraid of me. Maybe I’d go… But only if it’s with you.”
“I’ll show you one day, the world beyond this island,” Yuuta speaks his words towards the vast sky. “Nymeria–you’d love it there, Ren, I promise.”
Love it more than our island? Eren wonders hesitantly. Yuuta doesn’t know how to answer him.
“Is Nymeria the only place out there?” Eren asks, quickly changing the subject. He stuffs whatever feeling that just was to the recesses of his mind.
“No, it’s one of six kingdoms. There were once seven kingdoms in the world, though now it’s just six,” Yuuta replies.
Eren lays down beside him, lying on his side in order to watch Yuuta as he speaks. He watches Yuuta with earnest curiosity, like a child waiting to hear the most ravishing of fairy tales.
“What happened to the seventh?”
“My father, the emperor of Nymeria–”
I knew it, Eren immediately thinks.
“Knew what?” Yuuta asks, turning towards Eren with an inquisitive lift of his brow.
“That you were of high birth,” Eren replies, saying the words as if they were obvious.
“What makes you think that?”
Eren’s gaze meets Yuuta’s, and even in the dark Eren can make out the shine of Yuuta’s sapphires. They shine just as bright as the stars behind him do in the sky.
“When you first came… Your clothes. They were shiny,” Eren says, though it’s not the full truth. In his mind lies his real answer: I’ve always known you were too pretty to be a warrior.
Yuuta ignores his words, as he always does when Eren calls him pretty (which he does quite often, Yuuta realizes). He continues his story, “Yes, my clothes–they were royal garments. I was the prince of my kingdom at home.”
“When you return home… Will you be king?” Eren asks. He feels a pit in his stomach when he asks this question. When Yuuta returns home, I’ll be alone again.
“If I ever return home,” Yuuta corrects him. “I would be a prince just like before. My father is still emperor–if he still lives.”
Eren doesn’t let joy take hold of his emotions, because he knows it would be cruel to wish that Yuuta would never leave. Somewhere deep in his mind, he knows Yuuta one day will have to. But the fact that Yuuta still says ‘if’ gives him hope.
“What did your father do to make it six kingdoms?” Eren sticks a finger in the sand, idly drawing swirls as he speaks, his eyes downcast towards the grains of sand that move with each flick of his wrist.
Yuuta finds that he is hesitant to answer. Pictures of that bloody summer where Nymeria had been invaded by Dricans flood his mind–the fires that burned their lands, the blood that stained the greens of their forests and the blues of their waters, the fear he felt as they encroached on the palace grounds with sights on killing every Nymerian within its walls. Yuuta knows the fears that take hold of Eren’s dreams every night because he has seen his own fair share of evil. But he fears that what happened after that summer will change Eren’s perception of him. What will Eren think when he learns that Nymeria is to blame for the fall of an entire kingdom?
“There was a war between my kingdom, Nymeria, and its neighbor, Drican. They killed many of my people and attacked my home–the palace.” Yuuta has a faraway look in his eyes, no longer looking down at Eren. Instead, his eyes are set on a time in the past. Eren looks up to see Yuuta’s eyes muddied with emotions, and he knows Yuuta must be conflicted about the story he tells. “We fought back but, my father… He took it too far. What started as protecting us, turned into revenge. Even after the Drican warriors surrendered to us, he went and killed them all. Even women and children who begged for their lives… My father ordered for them to be killed. He said if we spared them, they would rise again to murder us all.”
At this, Eren’s body freezes, his finger idling in the sand. Nymeria had done to Drican what the outsiders had done to his people, and he’s not sure how to feel. Should he be repulsed? But Nymeria… That’s where Yuuta comes from. And he knows in his heart Yuuta would never do something like this. Yuuta is too kind, too gentle–even when he hunts rabbits he apologizes to their little bodies. He doubts if Yuuta even has the capacity to kill an entire race of innocents. But still, he must know.
“Do you agree with your father? That they should have all died?” Eren asks. His lips quiver with nervousness, and he finds he can’t meet Yuuta’s eyes. He’s afraid. What if the Yuuta he’s come to know isn’t real? Or what if it’s even worse–that he is truly this kind, but below the surface, he would kill like that?
“No,” Yuuta answers instantly. “No matter the reasons, my father was wrong. He killed innocent people and I hate him for it. Just as you fear what he did–” Yuuta reaches out and grasps Eren’s hand that was in the sand, squeezing it tight. “I fear him too, Ren.”
Eren feels reassured by Yuuta’s touch, easing the tension that had overtaken his body. He meets Yuuta’s gaze once more and is comforted by the familiar sight of Yuuta’s gentle stare. Eren asks, “If you were the king, what would you do to Drican?”
“Put an end to their army and to the fighting,” he starts without hesitation. “Their people would be welcome into Nymeria, and they’d be forgiven. We could live in peace. Together.”
Eren can hear Yuuta’s thoughts, and they echo his sentiments. He smiles, satisfied that Yuuta’s beliefs are fair and just. Yuuta knows what it’s like to be on Eren’s side, and he chooses to hope for a peaceful resolution instead of unnecessary violence. It makes Eren happy to know that Yuuta is as kind as Eren has come to believe he is.
Eren squeezes Yuuta’s hand in return, and Yuuta winces a little–Eren’s a lot stronger than he realizes.
“You would make a really great king, Yuu,” Eren tells him, looking down at their hands. He smiles until he looks up at Yuuta and sees he’s in pain, immediately releasing his hold on Yuuta’s hand. “I’m sorry.”
Yuuta only laughs, his eyes turning to slits as his chest rumbles with mirth. Eren always, without fail, simpers at the sight.
“I think I can still be a king with one hand,” he jokes. Then suddenly, a gust of wind passes over the beach. It does nothing to Eren, but it runs a chill through Yuuta’s body. Eren can sense it when Yuuta’s body shivers.
“Well, you can’t be a king if you die of cold outside,” Eren teases. He rises to his feet and extends out his hand towards Yuuta. Yuuta takes his hand again, with no hesitation. “Come, let’s go home, Yuu.”
***
The day after Eren learns of Yuuta’s status as royalty is a hot morning, the rainy season having passed, leaving the island to heat up once more as the sun barrels down upon its land. Eren sits in the grass surrounded by the flowers that bloom after the long season of rain. Between all the spiked fruits and shrubs grow the most vibrant flowers, a beauty hidden among such threatening flora. Perhaps the island is much like the green-eyed dragon it birthed, beautiful despite the danger that it exhibits to all who gaze upon it.
Beside the jagged leaves of the ānogar fruits grow trees with drooping yellow cassia flowers. The bark of these trees is lined with jagged threats of bloodshed in the form of spikes. Below these trees grow gentler plants, the likes of pink cosmos and red hibiscus. On a farther side of the grassy forest grow shrubs of flowers that Yuuta recognizes as jasmine flowers, having had them back in Nymeria. Eren calls them ovoño flowers, remembering fondly the way his father would take some of these flowers on their hunts to bring back to his mother. His mother once said they are flowers that bring happiness, though how much of that is legend is debatable. Yet over the years Eren has learned that perhaps legends are worth entertaining.
Earlier this morning, while Yuuta hummed his song and picked his kasta berries, Eren found himself taking ovoño flowers from their stems. He gathered them, together with some of the pink cosmos and red hibiscus flowers, and once he had an arm full of flowers, he sat down in the grass, waiting for Yuuta’s return.
“What is that song that you always sing, Yuu?” he asks when Yuuta sits down across from him, placing the spoils of his foraging onto the ground. It is the song that Yuuta always hums that Eren hears upon Yuuta’s return. Eren finds comfort in it, just as he had that first night he heard it those years ago when he had just met Yuuta. But he’s never stopped to question what it is.
There is only one topic Eren never asks about, and that is Yuuta’s family. He knows from the time spent silently observing his raven-haired companion, that Yuuta carries an unspoken burden. Eren knows that oftentimes Yuuta thinks of his sister, his mother, and even his father. Some nights Yuuta ponders what they must be doing, or if they know he is alive. Yuuta still wonders what fate had been bestowed to the rest of the people on the ship that had tossed him onto Eren’s island. Many times Eren sees Yuuta bowed in reverence, his palms pressed together in front of his face, and Eren doesn’t understand what it is that Yuuta is doing, but his actions command silence and so Eren gives it.
“It is a song my mother would sing to me,” Yuuta answers. He pops a berry into his mouth and looks up into the sky, past the line of trees. He has that faraway look in his gaze like he isn’t truly there. His mind lies somewhere in the clouds, contemplating the life he once lived. He swallows the sweet berry, savoring its saccharine taste. With lips stained a teal blue, he adds, “It’s why I sang it to you. She used to sing it to me to help me sleep.”
No wonder you are so kind, Eren thinks. Your mother is too. He brings his hands down to his pile of flowers and begins to twist some of their stems together.
“Was,” Yuuta interjects, his voice barely a whisper above the breeze. “She was kind.”
Eren turns his eyes up to face Yuuta, surprised. Yuuta had never mentioned his mother’s passing. In fact, he always speaks as if she still exists.
“Yuu, your mother…”
“She died just before I washed up on this very shore,” he explains. He wraps his arms around his knees, holding them tight to his chest as he speaks. “I watched my father kill her with his own two hands. He said he was cursed by a witch and it took over his mind. It’s why I left Nymeria. He sent my sister and me away, so he wouldn’t hurt us too. That’s how I ended up on that ship–to get away from my father.”
Eren watches Yuuta with remorse, his eyes downcast. Yuuta lost his mother just days before he got here–and he comforted me? I’m so selfish–
“No, you’re not.” Yuuta instantly turns towards Eren. Under the bright morning sun, Eren’s iridescent scales shine bright, reflecting the light into the most vivid of colors. His eyes complete the picture as they blink back in confusion at Yuuta, giving off a green radiance that nothing else in this world could match. His eyes are truly the window to his soul, and Yuuta knows what stares back at him is a pool of fear and self-doubt, interwoven with his deep love for those he cares for: his family, and now Yuuta, too. “It’s not selfish to miss your family. Your entire race was killed off, Eren. That’s worth grieving for a lifetime.”
“But then… Why don’t you grieve?” Eren asked. “I’ve never seen you cry.”
Yuuta extends an arm out into the air, pointing towards the blue sky devoid of clouds. Eren follows Yuuta’s pointer finger with a curious gaze.
“Back home in Nymeria, we believe in all-powerful beings–gods. And they’re all up there, watching over us in heaven.”
What’s heaven? Eren wonders.
“It’s a really nice place to be, where you have no reasons to be sad. It’s where you go when you die, and my mother’s there somewhere. She’s happy, I’m sure of it. I might not be able to hear her song anymore, but I know she’s watching over me. So, I don’t need to feel sad. Why would I feel sad when I know she’s happy?”
“Is that why you talk to your hands? To talk to the gods?” Eren ponders.
“Talk to my hands?” Yuuta blinks back at Eren, not understanding his words.
Eren places his hands in front of his face, clapping his palms together. “When you do this,” Eren bows his head, touching his fingertips to his forehead. He closes his eyes for a second, before peeking one open.
Yuuta looks at Eren with soft laughter bubbling past his lips. “Yeah, it’s called praying. You talk to the gods and ask for them to give you good things, like good fortune or good weather, and in exchange you promise to do good things, too.”
“So, what do you promise the gods?” Eren asks. Yuuta watches in idle curiosity as Eren’s fingers twist the jasmine stems around a cosmo flower.
“Well, I tell them that I’ll be better than my father if I’m king someday. My father hurt a lot of people–I don’t want to be like him. I want to protect the kingdom and my family, not hurt them.”
“Spoken like a real prince,” Eren replies.
Eren holds up the wreath of flowers that he has made with a smile. Yuuta realizes now what it is that Eren has been doing with his hands: making a crown of flowers. Eren rises to his feet and crosses the distance between them until he’s standing beside Yuuta. Yuuta looks up to see Eren’s expression, a smile laced with just a hint of bashfulness.
“Now that I know you’re a prince, Yuu, I made you a crown. Here you are, my prince.”
The way Eren says ‘my prince’ is comically exaggerated, and Yuuta chuckles before tilting his head towards Eren. Eren places the crown down upon his head, the white, pink, and red flowers standing out beautifully against his dark hair. When Yuuta blinks up at him with those eyes the color of the sky, Eren can’t help but be reminded of how pretty he thinks Yuuta is.
Yuuta hears his thoughts and becomes flustered as well, muttering, “T-Thanks, Ren.”
Eren sits down next to him, mimicking his posture by hugging his own knees close to his chest. He debates whether or not he should for a fraction of a second, before he reaches out to Yuuta to take his hand into his own. He says softly, “I’m sorry about your mom, Yuu. And everything that happened to you. I’m sorry you got stuck out here with me, too.”
“I’m not,” Yuuta replies, squeezing Eren’s hand. “If there was one good thing that came out of it, it was meeting you.”
Eren knows what he feels now is happiness, but tears sting his eyes as if he were sad. He lets go of Yuuta’s hand and tucks his face behind his arms that hug his knees, hoping to hide his face from Yuuta. But Yuuta can hear just the tiniest of a sniffle, and he knows his crybaby is tearing up again. Eren mumbles something from behind his arms, but Yuuta can’t make out the words. He sees scales and horns, but can’t see Eren’s eyes or lips, hidden away behind the cage of his arms.
“What did you say, Ren?” Yuuta asks, and his voice is so gentle. It always is.
Eren picks his head up, just enough to speak and be heard. “I talked to the Gods too.”
“What did you ask for?”
“I lived on the island alone for so long… Maybe I was scared. I thought I’d be alone forever. The night before you came, I sat on the beach and spoke to the stars. I asked the Ancient Dragon to send someone for me. I didn’t want to be alone anymore.”
“The night before I came?” Yuuta asks incredulously.
“Yeah… I think they answered me when they sent you, Yuu.”
Eren turns to look at Yuuta. Yuuta wears a surprised expression, eyes wide and reflecting the clear blue sky within them. Eren turns back to staring at his knees, bashful.
“I’m sorry if my… What did you call it again?”
“Prayer?”
“I’m sorry if my prayer is what made you come here and leave your home behind.”
Somehow Eren had connected his own wishes with what happened to Yuuta, and Yuuta immediately denies such a thing. “Don’t say that Ren. Your prayer is probably what saved me. You asked them to give you a friend, right? So maybe that’s why I survived falling off the ship, to be your friend. Without you, who knows what would’ve happened to me. It was fate that I’m here with you, Ren.”
“What’s fate?” Eren blinks back at him curiously once more.
“When something is just meant to be. The gods wished it so.”
“So you think the gods wanted us to be together?”
“Yeah.” Yuuta nods, his lips curling into a grin. Eren’s eyes flicker up towards the flower crown that adorns his head, and with his sweet smile, he really does look like a prince. “How else would I make it out here if I didn’t have you by my side?”
Eren shoves off the butterfly feeling in his stomach with a laugh. “I think you would’ve been fish food without me, Yuu.”
“Hey!” He elbows Eren’s side, earning him a laugh from the dragon. It’s always so lovely when he can hear Eren’s true, unabashed laughter. Yuuta smiles wholeheartedly, even his eyes form crescents as he laughs alongside him.
“Okay, fine, maybe I would have.”

A List of My OTPs
because it's 11 and I can't sleep.
Enjolras x Grantaire a.k.a. Enjoltaire a.k.a. ExR- Les Mis
How I fell into this I don't remember now. I vaguely remember reading a crackfic of this and then everything just went sideways.
This was also the fandom that helped me realize that I wasn't exactly straight and that it's okay to not be loud about my sexuality, that I can just be.
I think that explains my attachment to this ship, not to mention just the movie's Grantaire (played by George Blagden) also shipped the characters and played his character like how he thought it should be, Grantaire loving and pining after Enjolras without the revolutionary knowing it.
Except in the fan fics, Enjolras returns his feelings and they work it out, even though it's not easy because they're both stubborn as mules. Ah, ultimate fantasy I guess. And the number of great fics here, *whistle*
Also, the Les Amis? Is amazing? Especially in the modern AUs? Like they're great friends? I love this fandom so much! Permets-tu!
Tumblr media
Shen Wei x Zhao Yunlan - Guardian / Zhen Hun
C'mon, Zhu Yilong & Bai Yu's performance and emotions? Plus just the fact the fanfic writers of this ship are absolutely amazing? Please, escape from this pairing is impossible!
Best opposites attract trope for me. An academic by day, superhero by night in love with a roguish police chief who has no powers but whose charisma, wit, and heart can get him to toe to toe with the legends.
Also, Professor Shen Wei constantly acting like an innocent civilian and lying badly? Gold!
Tumblr media
Loki x Tony Stark a.k.a. FrostIron - Avengers
How did I honestly get to this ship? I really can't remember what started it all. I think it must have been a Loki redemption fic where Tony Stark and Pepper broke up and something something happened. Let me tell you, the writers of this ship have written sagas and ballads of epic and sometimes confusing proportions, and that is why I fell deeper into the pit. I mean, they gotta give justice to two brilliant but chaotic characters, right? Angst. This ship has sooooooooo much angst.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Eiji x Ash - Banana Fish
My god, if you want to keep your heart intact and not be reminded of all that's ugly in the world, DON'T WATCH OR READ BANANA FISH. YOUR HEART WILL NEVER HEAL!
If you're gonna watch/read it anyway, make sure to watch something fluffy and sweet after. There's a reason that people from this fandom go, "If you've seen Banana Fish's ending, then you can handle whatever angsty show you're watching now." ~ or something to that effect. Another thing we like to say in this fandom is, "Other fandoms: Let's write a Mafia AU! Banana Fish fandom: We are the Mafia AU." Yes, all of us in this fandom is dramatic af.
Tumblr media
Yuuri x Viktor - Yuuri!!! on Ice
Uh, does this really need an explanation? Aside from the fact that you will surprisingly find a lot of Mafia AUs here because we all know that hiding behind that beautiful face of Viktor Nikiforov is a devil capable of... tearing down your self-confidence, like WTF Viktor, don't make Yuuri cry! Also, their dance together at the end, such beautiful love.
Tumblr media
Magnus Bane x Alec Lightwood aka Malec - Shadowhunters
I never read the books and have no plans to in the near future. I just saw a video on Youtube about why Malec is life and now here I am, still reading some Malec fics from time to time.
Some stuff on the show were WTF but overall they were a really good couple who supported each other. Plus, they're a Power Couple.
Tumblr media
Erwin x Levi aka Eruri - Attack on Titan / Shingeki no Kyojin
Not to be confused with Ereri, which is Eren x Levi, which I don't generally ship except for that one time when a writer wrote an epic fanfic series with Eren in his mid 20s and Levi in his late 20s/early 30s, reincarnation AU. Boy was that one a surprise. I did not expect that.
Anyway, I'm an Eruri fan through and through. Especially with that promise that Levi made to Erwin. And the reason he gave the serum to Armin. HE DIDN'T DO IT FOR THE KIDS YKNOW. HE DID IT FOR ERWIN. Plus, Levi, Erwin, and Hange are my special trio. Erwin's batch was really amazing.
Also, I really like the fact that the shorter and slighter person is the more badass fighter while the taller, bigger one is the more calculating and strategic one. Rocks the boat of stereotypes and all that. Bonus: how these two met. My god, what a meet-cute! 😂
Tumblr media
Dani x Jamie aka The Au Pair and the Gardener - The Haunting of Bly Manor
It really is more of a love story than a ghost story. I dunno how to feel about this. I loved these two characters so much and I wished they had a better ending but I wasn't SO surprised because it was a horror series (Like, I was still hoping at the end that they'd be together forever but yknow...). In any case, Jamie was just awesome. And her nickname for Dani? Poppins?! God, what a lover and fighter. She was not afraid to cock a gun in a ghost's face.
Tumblr media
... and now for my flexible BROTPs
Merlin x Arthur aka Merthur - BBC Merlin
Yeah, my brain is so chaotic multiple OTPs and BROTPs of the same pairing exist at the same time without clashing with one another or having major identity crises.
I actually really like BROTP Merlin and Arthur and also like reading OTP Merthur.
And when Merlin is paired with Morgana or Freya or sometimes even Gwaine, that's fine with me too. As long as his bromance with Arthur stays intact, because that's what drew me to the show in the first place. Personal preference. I see them as platonic soulmates.
*Shout-out to the Merthur writers though, you kept me sane during my "Post-Merlin Depression," which is actually a term thrown around in the fandom because of that horrid final season (not saying it's a good term but it's what it was called). A lot of amazing fics here, too, both Magic Reveal and Modern AU ones. Full of action and adventure too! I mean, there are boy-band-looking Knights and magic-wielding badasses!
Tumblr media
Tim Drake x Conner Kent/Kon-El aka Red Robin x Super Boy - DC Comics
More like flexible otp. I dig Stephanie Brown and Tim Drake BUT I really really also dig Tim Drake and Conner Kent. When they're TimKon, it's like an entirely different entity from TimSteph. Ugh, hard to explain.
I mean, Kon telling Tim, "You'll always be my Robin" and Tim telling Kon, "And you'll always be my clone boy" is the shit. Also when Kon could pick out/recognize Tim's heartbeat. And when Tim nearly went mad scientist trying to bring his bestie back. Like, dudes, wtf. And at the same time, hell yeah.
Liu Kang x Kung Lao aka LiuLao - Mortal Kombat
- I see these two as more like ride or die best friends connected by fate/platonic soulmates. But also like their dynamic is so awesome, cute, sweet, badass, can't-live-without-you vibes.
Basically the same way I feel about Merthur. I like reading both romantic and platonic relationships between these two characters. Like, the LiuLao fan creators peeling off the layers of this relationship and exposing every raw nerve is beautiful.
They love diving into the characters' psyche, emotions, motivations, fears, and doubts and you get really amazed because... Aren't they just characters from a video game, you ask? Well yeah, but MK video game has several interesting storylines and the Mortal Kombat 2021 movie was just the perfect jumpstarter to this beautiful blaze.
I mean, "We swore that if we were to die, it would be together"? Hell no, you're not dropping that on us and not expecting us to create our very own spin-offs and 12-page essays on that shit. That's what we fans do, baby. And also, really, we need a shaolin monks/white lotus spin-off/prequel. We're starving here.
As this ship is the newest one on my list, it's the one I'm looking forward to the most. Not enough fan content, I tell you. Not enough. One of these days, I just might add my own.
But right now, it's past 1 and so I shall attempt to sleep.
***No images for TimKon and LiuLao coz apparently I've gone past my 10-images allowance 😤

Note
Hello Hamliet, please make sense out of me because I've been so conflicted on what to feel. An hour ago, I saw this tweet from kasumi_kasa. When I read the thread, I thought nothing was harmless regarding the tweet. The second tweet of her thread blew up and got negative impressions on the western fandom (again). To me, when I first read it, my interpretation to her second tweet was: the scar on Mikasa's face (to which Eren has accidentally given her) was Isayama's way to show that even in her physical form, there is already a part of her that is Eren. Granted, I'm not romanticizing it as so many fans has called this out. I just thought that it is a way to show that there is already a piece of Eren that is within Mikasa, hence, she will always remember him because the scar is a part of her. But the western fandom took it as if kasumi was romanticizing ‘abuse’. And it just infuriates me, because time and time again, the fandom kept using such terms that I feel like should be weigh first as this was a sensitive topic (could even be triggering). And to see fans use this word in such a fandom setting, (Eren did not even gave the scar to Mikasa because he abused her, he regretted it so much when he was told that he tried to kill Mikasa in his Titan form in his unconscious state) is very unsettling to me. The fandom has also used pedophilia, rape, and necrophilia so lightly. I feel very mad, but I can't even show my anger to it because the fandom makes me feel like if I disagree with their opinion, then I'm romanticizing ‘abuse’ and ignoring it because I am just a ‘shipper’. Because to me, it's not. These words holds so much weight and, fans shouldn't use it so lightly because there are real victims who are experiencing this and we should not lighten the weight of these words. I've witnessed domestic abuse when I was a kid for years that's why it triggered me this much. I'm sorry that this is just more of a rant. (Kasumi also cleared this statement if you check her profile in regards to this. I apologize again for this rant, you can feel free not to answer it as it is such a sensitive topic. Thank you.)
All fandoms do this, because they really need moral justification. Sometimes I’m like seriously the bible wasn’t wrong about original sin being wanting to be god aka the moral arbitrator of the universe, because pretty much everyone everywhere seems to want that all the time.
Anyways, Kasumi also explained that this is apparently an old adage in Japan. Which kinds ties into what I said earlier about the west not understanding Japanese tropes that set up Eremika as endgame from the start.
Tumblr media
Anyways, the word I could sling back at these people if I cared to get involved, which I don’t because they have no interest in actual discussing or understanding but instead have an agenda of self-justification, is ethnocentrism. A lot of these people consider themselves into social justice but they really just mean that they want their western (usually American) understanding of what justice is and means to be applied everywhere. Despite their talk about anti-colonialism they sure do seem to think their culture and beliefs are better than others. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
