I have such a problem with Wes’ storyline. Did the actor piss a writer off? Like, how could they think the direction they went with his character made ANY sort of sense?
The way Reed treated him, knowing his own children are running from the law and had the luck of having parents willing to run with them, and he treats a poor HOMELESS kid like that?
“Society only works if there are consequences…” FUCK HIM WITH A CACTUS.
Reed knows FIRST HAND how badly mutants are treated in the system. He should know how unfair it is to criminalize accidental manifestations of powers, given how he changed his tune when it came to his own children falling afoul of the same laws he’s prosecuted others with.
He has to be aware that mutants are discriminated against for jobs, housing, and everything else. Plus, Wes is still a minor, I believe, or at least he was a minor when he was kicked out. With no job, no home, and no way to otherwise feed himself…what exactly are Wes’ options here? Go find a quiet corner somewhere and wait until he dies?
Reed’s pure hypocrisy and gall…
I also don’t know why they would set Wes up as a romantic interest for Lauren and then get rid of him so quickly.
I honestly think the storyline is so dumb…that I wonder if some producer who wanted their kid on the show, pulled some strings and they had to get rid of someone to free up budget and to hamfist them into the storyline.
Looking at Skyler who is played by the creator’s son and how his character otherwise went fuckin’ nowhere and was so effing pointless.

NEW EPISODE
Ryan and Maddy return to The Gifted for an episode in which the characters literally walk in circles. To be fair to Reed Strucker, there is an actual plan involved in doing this, and it does work, but is it interesting to watch? Not really.
There are some great moments in this episode, though, such as when Blink finally confronts Dreamer over the brainwashing routine.

Reed and Caitlin Strucker were in New York, visiting friends when suddenly they felt something strange was happening. Something supernatural was happening, and they were the only ones who could help solve the case after they found their children very scared. What was happening was not normal, even worse than with the Sentinels.
They met the Ghostbusters, a group of paranormal experts who had been investigating a series of strange disappearances in the city. The Ghostbusters couldn't explain the reason, but they knew something supernatural was behind it all.
Reed and Caitlin joined the Ghostbusters in their investigation and soon discovered that a ghost was behind the disappearances. But this was no ordinary ghost, but one that was looking to take the mutants' children, probably because of the kind of powers they had.
Reed and Caitlin went to the Ghostbusters Research Center, located in the heart of New York City. An urgent call had led them there earlier that evening. Their children had stayed in a mutant-safe zone, where they hoped the ghost couldn't find them.
The Struckers were in the control room, watching the monitors transmit images from their house based on what had happened a few days earlier.
"Easy, honey," Reed said as he held Caitlin's hand. "We're going to find a solution. We're a close-knit family."
Caitlin looked at her husband with a mixture of uncertainty and determination in her eyes. She knew they had to act fast to save their children; she had always promised herself that no matter the cost, she would keep them safe.
It was then that the Ghostbusters presented them with a plan to catch the ghost. Reed and Caitlin looked at each other decisively and nodded. They were ready for anything to save their children.
The Ghostbusters set up a device to lure the ghost, and when it appeared, Reed and Caitlin joined them in the fight. The Struckers' mutant powers joined the Ghostbusters' technology to engage the enemy.
Suddenly, the lights flickered and went out completely. In the darkness, an ominous noise was heard, causing Caitlin to clutch her husband tighter. Then a dark figure appeared, hovering in the air.
"That's the ghost," whispered one of the Ghostbusters, drawing his proton gun.
Reed and Caitlin watched in awe as the Ghostbusters fought the supernatural entity. They fired their weapons and threw traps to trap the spectre.
The battle was intense, but they finally managed to defeat the ghost and free the children. The Struckers hugged their children, relieved that it was all over.
After the fight, Reed and Caitlin stayed in the control room with the Ghostbusters. The experts explained to them that the ghost had been summoned by a witch, who had been using her magic to kidnap the mutant children and use their powers in her dark rituals.
Reed and Caitlin felt grateful to the Ghostbusters for their help and offered their assistance any time they needed it. The Ghostbusters accepted the Struckers' offer, knowing that they could never underestimate the mutants' powers.
Reed and Caitlin felt closer than ever because of the experience they had just had and vowed to always protect their family, no matter what the danger, but for now they had to go after Lauren and Andy so they could return to their normal lives.

and also Andy's and Lauren's great-grandparents were totally a couple, right? the mother of the grandfather is never mentioned or shown and everytime the Von Struckers are on screen, they scream incest vibes. like, they're literally connected in every way.
The show ended and they never told us otherwise, plus the characters were incestuous in the comics, so I don't see why we shouldn't assume.
Plus revisit this post, everyone, for a good time.
ETA:
chrisrobbins2012: so on the gifted one episode in s2 sneaked in reference that Original Fenris were reed's grandparents and thus andy and lauren's great grandparents.
I either forgot or totally missed that the show totally gave up on pretending that there was a Mrs. Andreas. But we all knew already. ;)
But why didn't they give us the full flashback episode telling us their entire story?
