What did you think of Lauren in 1x11? I loved how at the start she was like "I want to do something." Like getting justice for Sonya and yet by the middle she capulates to her parents and is fine with them running away??

So this is kinda complicated, tbh.

Lauren definitely felt that she and Andy were the cause of Sonya's death. I think that she said that she wanted to do something as a sort of way with dealing with the misplaced guilt. Then her parents come to them with the idea of leaving and guilt her, which doesn't really work. But then, boom, income the Frosts, who explicitly state that they want to use the Mutant Underground for muscle and that they don't like humans like their parents. Lauren then 'thinks' about it for a while and talks to Andy about how their power is dangerous and with "everything going on" it would be better if they just went to Mexico.

Being optimistic, I look at it as Lauren wanting to protect her family, specifically her parents from being hurt by the alliance with the Frosts or the growing anti-human sentiment that has begun to circulate among the MU and her brother and herself from being used as a weapon/muscle. As much as I dislike their parents, in canon, Lauren makes it a priority to do everything she can to keep the people closest to her safe.

But that's just my thoughts on it, idk.

Reed and Caitlin Strucker were in New York, visiting friends when suddenly they felt something strange was happening. Something supernatural was happening, and they were the only ones who could help solve the case after they found their children very scared. What was happening was not normal, even worse than with the Sentinels.

They met the Ghostbusters, a group of paranormal experts who had been investigating a series of strange disappearances in the city. The Ghostbusters couldn't explain the reason, but they knew something supernatural was behind it all.

Reed and Caitlin joined the Ghostbusters in their investigation and soon discovered that a ghost was behind the disappearances. But this was no ordinary ghost, but one that was looking to take the mutants' children, probably because of the kind of powers they had.

Reed and Caitlin went to the Ghostbusters Research Center, located in the heart of New York City. An urgent call had led them there earlier that evening. Their children had stayed in a mutant-safe zone, where they hoped the ghost couldn't find them.

The Struckers were in the control room, watching the monitors transmit images from their house based on what had happened a few days earlier.

"Easy, honey," Reed said as he held Caitlin's hand. "We're going to find a solution. We're a close-knit family."

Caitlin looked at her husband with a mixture of uncertainty and determination in her eyes. She knew they had to act fast to save their children; she had always promised herself that no matter the cost, she would keep them safe.

It was then that the Ghostbusters presented them with a plan to catch the ghost. Reed and Caitlin looked at each other decisively and nodded. They were ready for anything to save their children.

The Ghostbusters set up a device to lure the ghost, and when it appeared, Reed and Caitlin joined them in the fight. The Struckers' mutant powers joined the Ghostbusters' technology to engage the enemy.

Suddenly, the lights flickered and went out completely. In the darkness, an ominous noise was heard, causing Caitlin to clutch her husband tighter. Then a dark figure appeared, hovering in the air.

"That's the ghost," whispered one of the Ghostbusters, drawing his proton gun.

Reed and Caitlin watched in awe as the Ghostbusters fought the supernatural entity. They fired their weapons and threw traps to trap the spectre.

The battle was intense, but they finally managed to defeat the ghost and free the children. The Struckers hugged their children, relieved that it was all over.

After the fight, Reed and Caitlin stayed in the control room with the Ghostbusters. The experts explained to them that the ghost had been summoned by a witch, who had been using her magic to kidnap the mutant children and use their powers in her dark rituals.

Reed and Caitlin felt grateful to the Ghostbusters for their help and offered their assistance any time they needed it. The Ghostbusters accepted the Struckers' offer, knowing that they could never underestimate the mutants' powers.

Reed and Caitlin felt closer than ever because of the experience they had just had and vowed to always protect their family, no matter what the danger, but for now they had to go after Lauren and Andy so they could return to their normal lives.

arthur is speaking to her but floribeth doesn't hear him. not really. it's like arthur's voice is underwater. or maybe she is.

something brought them back, arthur says, and floribeth stares in horror at the three bodies. she is tense, coiled to either attack or escape. as if they might sit up and scare her half to death like they're attractions of a haunted house operating out of a high school.

one of them is a woman with a shock of bubblegum pink hair - dyed, most definitely. the other two are men: the first has blond hair - also dyed - and the second one is a brunet.

no, not something. someone. vaguely, floribeth remembers lauren strucker going through the database while she tried to find cristina. vaguely, floribeth remembers seeing another name pop up.

someone who bears a teeny tiny bit of a resemblance to the struckers, that is, if you squint.

the resemblance becomes more striking when caitlin strucker speaks.

"the girl who did this - her name is layla rose miller," comes the voice from the strucker matriarch. "she had an m on her face - so maybe she's part of the morlocks - and before she vanished, she told me that she knows stuff."

"not enough stuff, apparently," floribeth's voice sounds thick. it sounds strange, even to her own ears. "those three aren't mutants. two of them are humans and one is a magic user. they're a group of bounty hunters, working for various anti mutant groups. they---"

she looks at arthur, stricken, willing him to understand. silently begging him to realize that these three shouldn't be here. they shouldn't be afforded their protection at all.

floribeth clears her throat. tears won't do her any good now and re-opening an old wound won't help her, either. instead, she swallows audibly and tries to rein in the hurt and the pain as best she can and hopes that she can stay on her feet long enough to do what she must without falling apart.

"---i'll ask trader if he can see to it that they're moved. and if he can't... if he can't get them out of here, then i'll get out of here. i mean it, if they're not gone when i come back, i'll walk."

i love these!

some notes though:

1. I’m amazed that sentinel services know the exact details of polaris, eclipse and john’s powers but they couldn’t figure out andy’s power lmao. I guess for Lorna it’s obvious that it’s specifically magnetism not telekinesis because her dad is magneto. And they didn’t get the exact details of clarice right either….nightcrawler type teleportation is much easier than her portals!

2. clarice actually didn’t start going by the mutant name “Blink” until the middle of s2, but TBF, I for one couldn’t help but call her that in my head all of s1. 3. I couldn’t find one for Reed so I’m assuming they didn’t make one- I guess maybe they wanted to make viewers believe he really was going to betray his family/the other mutants?

Amy Acker looks so good with a gun. Like I’m opposed to guns especially since it’s not a well-regulated system in my country, but if we have to have guns I think we should give them all to Amy Acker. Remember Root casually walking down the streets of New York with a shotgun? Or Caitlin getting out a pistol to protect her daughter? I hear there’s a Buffyverse reboot and I strongly suggest that Fred deserves a gun

I really miss The Gifted and I wish marvel wasn’t completely scrapping the X-men stuff they’ve already set up. They could just be like “alternate universe stuff and they got pulled over somehow” or just continue to make them separate and just keep making them. It’s just the characters from the gifted and what the actors bring to those characters is amazing and I hate losing something so beautiful

How do you view Reed getting powers in S2? I thought it was okay but I do think it was totally in line with his character that he wanted to hide it and then get rid of it. He trained for like, a few minutes, gave up and then immediately tried to get rid of them with Dr. Risman. Reed loathes his powers, Andy loves his powers, but i'm unsure about Lauren's feelings. What do you think?

About Reed getting powers.

I hated it, ngl. I thought it was a nice karma that he became exactly what he used to discriminate against. He was causing so many problem because he couldn’t control his powers, just like so many mutants that he prosecuted (i.e. remember the girl in the bowling alley?).

I agree that him getting powers and immediately hiding/suppressing it was in character, especially since he never fully accepted destructive powers. Sure he was able to accept Lauren’s ability to make shields but honestly I don’t think he was ever able to get past how destructive Andy’s powers are (see his reaction to Andy talking about his powers when they are going to attack that Federal building in season one). With his powers being destructive, it makes sense that he would immediately reject them. So in character, but honestly, it felt kind of like they needed a reason to kill off the character since the actor didn’t want to continue doing the show. 🤷🏻‍♀️ On the topic of Dr. Risman, I totally think Reed would have agreed with her views pre-pilot/before the exposure of his kids.

Andy loving his powers is fact obviously, but with canon Lauren, I think it’s more complicated. I think that she’s been so guilted about loving power and associated that with being evil like the Von Struckers/Brotherhood/Hell Fire Club. Loving your power has been marketed as a bad thing by their society. We know that Lauren likes the feeling of Fenris, since she said as much to Andy in season one, but, especially when she puts so much stock into her parents’ opinions, that will always fight with the guilt she feels for liking how powerful she is. Which is supported by Lauren “going dark” when she was experimenting more with her powers and history in season two to the point where she was going to run away from the Underground. She was just indulging that proud part of her that she usually suppresses.

But that’s just a theory, feel free to start a debate about this 😅

Reed y Caitlin Strucker se encontraban en Nueva York, visitando a unos amigos cuando de repente sintieron que algo extraño ocurría. Algo sobrenatural estaba sucediendo y ellos eran los únicos que podrían ayudar a resolver el caso después de que encontraron a sus hijos muy asustados, lo que ocurría no era normal, incluso muchísimo peor que con los Centinelas.

Se encontraron con los Cazafantasmas, un grupo de expertos en el paranormal que habían estado investigando una serie de extrañas desapariciones en la ciudad. Los Cazafantasmas no podían explicar la razón, pero sabían que algo sobrenatural estaba detrás de todo esto.

Reed y Caitlin se unieron a los Cazafantasmas en su investigación y pronto descubrieron que un fantasma estaba detrás de las desapariciones. Pero este no era un fantasma ordinario, sino uno que buscaba llevarse a los hijos de los mutantes, probablemente por el tipo de poderes que ellos tenían.

Reed y Caitlin fueron hasta el Centro de Investigación de los Cazafantasmas, ubicado en pleno centro de Nueva York. Una llamada urgente los había conducido allí esa misma noche. Sus hijos se habían quedado en una zona segura para mutantes, donde esperaban que el fantasma no pudiera encontrarlos.

Los Strucker se encontraban en la sala de control, observando los monitores que transmitían las imágenes de la casa de ellos, con lo que había sucedido unos días antes.

"Tranquila, amor", dijo Reed, mientras sostenía la mano de Caitlin. "Vamos a encontrar una solución. Somos una familia unida".

Caitlin miró a su esposo con una mezcla de incertidumbre y determinación en los ojos. Sabía que debían actuar rápido para salvar a sus hijos, siempre se había prometido que no importaba el costo, los mantendría a salvo.

Fue entonces que los Cazafantasmas les presentaron un plan para atrapar al fantasma. Reed y Caitlin se miraron con decisión y asintieron. Estaban listos para cualquier cosa con tal de salvar a sus hijos.

Los Cazafantasmas montaron un dispositivo para atraer al fantasma y, cuando este apareció, Reed y Caitlin se unieron a ellos en la lucha. Los poderes mutantes de los Strucker se unieron a la tecnología de los Cazafantasmas para enfrentar al enemigo.

De repente, las luces parpadearon y se apagaron por completo. En la oscuridad, se escuchó un ruido siniestro que hizo que Caitlin se aferrara a su esposo con más fuerza. Entonces, apareció una figura oscura, flotando en el aire.

"Ese es el fantasma", susurró uno de los Cazafantasmas, sacando su arma de protones.

Reed y Caitlin observaron con asombro mientras los Cazafantasmas luchaban contra el ente sobrenatural. Disparaban sus armas y lanzaban trampas para atrapar al espectro.

La batalla fue intensa, pero finalmente lograron derrotar al fantasma y liberar a los niños. Los Strucker se abrazaron a sus hijos, aliviados de que todo había terminado.

Después de la lucha, Reed y Caitlin se quedaron en la sala de control con los Cazafantasmas. Los expertos les explicaron que el fantasma había sido invocado por una bruja, que había estado usando su magia para secuestrar a los niños mutantes y usar sus poderes en sus rituales oscuros.

Reed y Caitlin se sintieron agradecidos con los Cazafantasmas por su ayuda, y les ofrecieron su ayuda en cualquier momento que la necesitaran. Los Cazafantasmas aceptaron la oferta de los Strucker, sabiendo que nunca podían subestimar los poderes de los mutantes.

Reed y Caitlin se sentían más unidos que nunca por la experiencia que acababan de vivir y se comprometieron a siempre proteger a su familia, sin importar cual fuera el peligro, pero por ahora tenían que ir por Lauren y Andy para poder regresar a su vida normal.
