norway what was the bloodiest and most brutal battle you've ever been part of?
The battle of Lund in 1676.
The bloodiest battle Norway has been a part of is the Battle of Lund in 1676, fought between Denmark-Norway and the Netherlands against Sweden, where Sweden won. The Danish King had 12 300 soldiers to command and the Swedish King had only had 8 000. Both sides ended up loosing about 50% of their army. It is said to be the bloodiest battle ever fought in Scandinavia, and it was a coincidence that the Swedes won just due to the chaotic nature of the battle.
The battle was a result of Danish forces invading the southern part of today’s Sweden, an area that had previously belonged to Denmark. The Swedes were led by a reckless and young king who had already put them through harsh conditions and bad camp locations that had cause a great percentage of the soldiers to die from illness already before the battle had begun. The Danes had followed the Swedish army and were in much better position, both location-wise and with a steady supply line.
The Danes became impatient and gave up good placement to attack the Swedes as they neared the city of Lund just outside Malmö. As mentioned, the battle was disorienting and chaotic, with a lot of breaks in formation, a missing Swedish King who came back after several hours to break through Danish lines who had his forces surrounded. Not to mention over-eager Swedes absolutely slaughtering sailors who wanted to surrender, with the words “Sailors have paid to fight at sea, but not at land. You therefore deserve no mercy!”. The massacre was stopped by a Swedish officer.

26th August 1612 saw the “Battle” of Kringen.
This wasn’t so much a battle but a massacre, Scottish mercenaries, many of whom had been press-ganged into military service, were marching along a narrow pass at Kringen in the Gudbrandsdalen Valley in Norway, on their way to join the Swedish army, when they were ambushed by peasants. Rocks and logs were hurled down the steep embankments to block off the pass, and the Norwegians opened fire on the 300-strong captive army.By the time the shooting frenzy had ended around 170 Scots lay dead, including George Sinclair, a nephew of the Earl of Caithness, who was killed, legend has it, with a silver bullet from the gun of militiaman Berdon Sejelstad. The remainder were executed afterwards today it would be called a war crime.
Legend has it that a mermaid appeared before the reached Norway with a warning. This is a translation from the “Scottish Soldiers of Fortune” by Grant, who calls it a translation from Oehlenschalager, the Danish national poet.

When the Nord Stream pipelines carrying natural gas from Russia to Germany were damaged last September, U.S. officials were quick to suggest Russia had bombed its own pipelines. But according to a new report by the legendary investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, it was the U.S. Navy that carried out the sabotage, with help from Norway. Citing a source "with direct knowledge of the operational planning," Hersh writes on his Substack blog that planning for the mission began in December of 2021. The White House and the Norwegian government have since denied the claims. Hersh joins us for an in-depth interview to discuss his report and says the U.S. decision to bomb the pipelines was meant to lock allies into support for Ukraine at a time when some were wavering. "The fear was Europe would walk away from the war," he says. Hersh won a Pulitzer Prize in 1970 for his reporting on the My Lai massacre. His reporting on CIA spying on antiwar activists during the Vietnam War era helped lead to the formation of the Church Committee, which led to major reforms of the intelligence community, and in 2004, he exposed the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal in Iraq.

During the Beisfjord massacre in Norway, 15 Norwegian paramilitary guards help members of the SS to kill 288 political prisoners from Yugoslavia.
The Beisfjord massacre (Norwegian: Beisfjord-massakren) was a massacre on 18 July 1942 at Beisfjord Camp No.1 (German: Lager I Beisfjord; Norwegian: Beisfjord fangeleir) in Beisfjord, Norway of 288 political prisoners. The massacre had been ordered a few days earlier by Josef Terboven, the Reichskommissar for Nazi-occupied Norway.

🚨 SOUTH AFRICA URGENT ICJ REQUEST
South Africa has once again requested the ICJ for additional emergency measures against Israel, urging the Court “to do what is within its power to save Palestinians in Gaza from genocidal starvation.” Its previous request was denied by the Court.
This was prompted by the harrowing deterioration in Gaza since the original measures in January. Using powerful language, South Africa highlights to the Court that “Palestinian children are starving to death as a direct result of the deliberate acts and omissions of Israel.”
Underscoring that Israel is “massacring desperate, starving Palestinians seeking to obtain food for their slowly dying children,” referencing the ‘flour massacre’ that killed 118 Palestinians and injured 760.
South Africa concluded by saying it “fears this Application may be the last opportunity that this Court shall have to save the Palestinian people in Gaza.”

"Obersten" was a lead of the teams of Greenland dogs that took Roald Amundsen and his companions to the South Pole in 1911. He's easily recognizable in photos due to having damaged his ear in a fight with another dog during their stay in Antarctica.
Amundsen's expedition was a right massacre in terms of dogs. Out of the over 100 that were present on Fram, and out of the 52 that left Framheim for the Pole, only 3 dogs returned to Norway and Obersten was the only to have made it all the way. Most of the others were killed for food, some died of sickness on the return trip, and some were sold on to other expeditions.
Obersten's survival and return was, in addition to his hardiness and strength of character, due to his bond with fellow polar explorer Oscar Wisting. He's said to have stood out as particularly willfull and stubborn from the very start of the expedition, and upon retirement, he spent the rest of his life as Wisting's family dog. As the story goes, the family's youngest son and some friends decided one winter day to have Obersten pull a sled in a makeshift dog race - but once their plans became known, Oscar ran out 'in only his shirt' to put an end to their shenanigans (to everyone's great disappointment - including the dog, probably) saying something to the effect of "this dog has pulled far too much for much too far in his life, and should never have to pull another gramme."

The last two images are the most important; the first depicts an image of a Palestinian boy holding a blanket he has apparently salvaged from rubble. The tweet from @Times of Gaza reports at 2:50 am of Feb 22, “Day 139 | During the past 24 hours: 9 massacres committed by the Israeli occupation • 97 people killed • 132 injured.” At 10:52 am @Times of Gaza reports: “UPDATE | 23 people killed in the Deir Al-Balah airstrikes. The death toll is expected to rise.”
This continued loss of life is irreplaceable and my heart mourns for them. FREE PALESTINE please God.

This is a part 2 to Trouble in Paradise because the symbiote in my brain won. I'll be writing one-shots and stories daily, and I'll be posting what's done whenever I can, maybe every other day. That means that I'll be separating this into many parts.
But that doesn't mean I won't try to perfect all of this! Quality over quantity, right?
Oh, also, I made a mistake in my last one. I should've used [A/N] because it stands for Agent name. It's fixed now, and Y/N stands for the actual name! Anyway, I'll shut up and get to it!

Synopsis: Gekko gets over his anxiety and finally asks you out, watching delightfully as you finally let your guard down. Or so he thinks.

Like usual, today was another long day at work. Of course it was. All your subordinates usually spend their time mucking about until they’re called on a mission to do something, whilst the superiors (like you) break their backs trying to figure out the next step. Not that you minded.
Well, okay, you did. But you just did a swell job at keeping it to yourself, among many other things. At the very least, you all had breaks on the weekends.
Today was Friday. Half past midnight, and you’d just peacefully finished your work. Perfect start to a weekend you’d spend alone, right?
Yeah, duh. Did you think I was gonna say ‘wrong’?
You walked down one corridor and tuned out the endless chatter of the agents near the lounge. The shortest route to your quarters had to always pass by this busy area. Usually you’d be ignored, maybe some of them would wave hello. Today was a bit different.
The loudest friend group sat around one table, noisily yapping to each other whilst their laughter filled the halls. But when they saw you, they all quieted down. But Jett choked on her laughter, coughing.
“Yo, A/N, what’s up?”
Phoenix called out, but the sight of Yoru slamming his hand against Jett’s back twice caught your eye. Weirdly enough, it turned out to be helpful.
Classy.
“Good day.”
“Anything new today?”
“Not much, you?”
“All’s well, mate!”
“Grand.”
The conversation was curt when you got out of their sight, not bothering to stop to actually speak to them. Your legs were sore and you had a headache, why would you stand there any longer for people who weren’t even your friends?
Harsh, but you weren’t the type to sugar coat things. Besides, they continued their own chatter after you left, Yoru’s voice standing out against theirs by the time you were a metre away from the entrance.
“Forty bucks to whoever guesses where she’s from.”
Yoru called out, earning a few looks from the rest. Jett, of course, used one hand to bring Dizzy closer to her and held out the other; palm outstretched.
“England. Hand it over, please.”
“Try again.”
“What? She is! She has an English accent. Phoenix, back me up!”
“Sorry, mate. Can’t help you there. It’s probably the queen’s english, but it’s mad artificial.”
“So the accent’s fake?”
“Yeah. If I were you, I’d go off the hair.”
They brought up your curly orange hair, each lock forming delicate ringlets. Unfortunately, their tidiness gets massacred on account of you always putting it up in a tight ponytail.
This made Raze perk up, loudly clapping once to gain all of their attention.
“Australian! That's right, she’s from Australia!”
“You’re saying that because Skye’s the only other redhead.”
“No! Well, okay, it sounds like it, but I meant that–”
“Sit down.”
Raze leaned back with a huff, Killjoy patting her on the shoulder with reassurance. As much as she wanted to reassure her, even she knew that you weren’t an Aussie like Skye was. Your accents didn’t match up, nor did the texture of your hair.
“Who’s next?”
Yoru looked around in amusement, watching the various expressions of confusion take over all of them. But just as quickly as one thought, the other came up with an answer. And this time, it was Killjoy.
“Norway!”
“Gekko wouldn’t be here if that was true.”
Gekko and Killjoy both shrinked at that sarcastic retort, now Raze comforting her with a pat on the shoulder. But, to be fair, it was kinda true.
Jett, with an immense amount of hesitation, raised her hand.
“Um, Wales?”
“That’s in the UK.”
“Oh! I got it, she’s from Sweden, yeah?”
“Mostly blondes.”
“Japan?!”
“What?”
“I don’t know!”
Killjoy cried out in defeat. Clearly, there was nobody in this room who didn’t want forty bucks for guessing a country correctly. But how the hell could all of them be so wrong? Statistically, at least one should be able to get a correct guess.
Gekko sat back on the couch and crossed his arms, mildly irked by the situation.
“So lame, man. You’re just shutting down all our answers. Do you know where she’s from?”
“No. I just know you’re all wrong.”
“How’re we supposed to make a correct guess without pulling up Wikipedia, then?”
“Hell if I know.”
Yoru stood up and swung his comb shut. Though his face carried a vacant expression, everyone could see the glimmer of pure unadulterated smugness in his eyes.
“Anyway, I’m done here. Call me when you figure it out. And make sure it’s not on my deathbed.”
He joked to himself as he walked away, leaving the entire group staring at him like a pack of starving puppies; which was on brand for such a cruel person like him.

Harthacnut (Danish: Hardeknud), occasionally named as Canute III, was King of Denmark from AD 1035 to AD 1042, and King of England from AD 1040 to AD 1042. The son of King Canute the Great and Emma of Normandy, he was born, in July 1017, in England, shortly after their marriage. As part of the negotiations of surrender in the aftermath of King Canute's conquest of England, Harthacnut took precedence in inheritance over his older half-brothers from his parents' first marriages. When their father died in AD 1035, Harthacnut was left ruling Denmark, while his half-brother Svein (son of Ælfgifu of Northampton) was faced with a revolt in Norway, and Harold Harefoot (also son of Ælfgifu) took control in England.
[...]popularly seen as little more than a brutal tyrant without virtue or redeeming value, Harthacnut has usually been presented in a highly moralistic fashion in most popular media over the centuries. In these stories, he is used as an archetypal figure of the corrupt and brutal nobleman whose own evils bring about his downfall, an almost idealized villainous figure from whose tyranny and grotesque abuses the populace are freed from.
As such, in contemporary media, there is little interest in conflicting perspectives on his family background and upbringing that produced him. This is not helped by the recorded accounts of his actions, including massacres, repressive taxation, executions, feasts in the midst of bad harvests, oathbreaking, violations of hospitality, loyalty purges, and even the posthumous beheading and disposal of Harold Harefoot, his paternal half-brother, in retribution for the death of Ælfred Æþeling, Harthacnut's maternal half-brother. August 26th 1612 saw The Battle of Kringen.
Not so much a battle, more of a massacre, about 350 Scots had been recruited as mercenaries by the King of Sweden in his war against Denmark. I say recruited, many were pressed into service by Sir James Spens, apparently against the preferences of James VI, who was in favour of the Danes. Leading the Scots were the two officers Alexander Ramsay and George Sinclair.
Two ships sailed from Dundee and Caithness in early August and reached Norway after a short middle-landing at the Orkney Islands. They had to land in Norway because easier sea routes to Sweden had been blocked off by the Danish forces. So, they therefor had to cross Norway and reach Sweden by land, a route previous Dutch and Scottish mercenary armies had used.
Having been warned of the oncoming forces, and probably enraged about earlier massacre of Norwegians during the conflict, peasants from the villages Vågå, Lesja, Dovre, Fron and Ringebu mobilized to meet up with the enemy. Legend has it that local farmer, Lars Gunnarson Hågå, when hearing about this, stepped into the local church with an axe in his hand, saying “Let it be known - the enemy has come to our land!” Sounds like a proper Viking!
While much of the history is mysterious and on the border of legendary, oral history has it that two Norwegians followed the Scots on horseback. Differing accounts make the event a bit sketchy, one says the Scots were poorly armed, another discounts this and says this may have looked this way as afterwards the site was looted.
Scandinavian sources give the Scots numbers as between 900 and 1,100 or more, but historians generally discount the estimate, placing the probable strength as low as 300. The strength of the Norwegian militia troops is estimated to have been no more than 500.
When the Scots reached the narrowest section of the valley at Kringen in Gudbrandsdal, a female who has gone down in legend, Guri blew her horn, signaling the ambush. The chosen place of assault is fairly steep, and the river runs close to what would be considered the only passable road at the time. Thus, the Scots would be trapped between the river and the mountain side, which they could not possibly scale. While folklore says that the peasants threw logs on the Scots, it was more likely that they shot on them with crossbows and muskets instead.
Among the first to fall was Sinclair himself, most of the Scots were killed during the battle. Some may have escaped, but others were captured. All but 14 of around 300 were summarily executed at Kvam in what is now Nord-Fron, the survivors then sent to the city of Christiania for imprisonment. Among the survivors were the officers Alexander Ramsay, Sir Henry Bruce, James Moneypenny, and James Scott. These were eventually repatriated.
James VI had heard of the recruits and through his secretary wrote to the King of Denmark, who was his brother in law protesting it was nothing to do with him. These records still exist and you can read them at the link below.
Legend has it that a mermaid appeared before the reached Norway with a warning. This is a translation from the “Scottish Soldiers of Fortune” by Grant, who calls it a translation from Oehlenschalager, the Danish national poet.

And he was right, he was released in the Shalit deal together with Sinwar (the current head of Hamas in Gaza). So, I didn't shout enough. The blood of the 1,200 murdered is on my hands.”

IDF SAYS… IDF artillery struck in several locations in Lebanon. A number of launches were then identified from Lebanon into Israeli territory in the areas of Arab al-Aramshe, Biranit and Bar'am. No injuries were reported. As a result of the launches toward the area of Biranit, a fire broke out. IDF and Israel Fire and Rescue Services are at the scene.
◾️NORWAY MEDIA - ISRAEL STARTED THE WAR… (by massacring itself?) Dagbladet is the Nordic nation's third most circulated newspaper and, according to its report, Israel is the one that started the war. This bit of news is accompanied with many photos, documenting the hardships Palestinians inside Gaza face as they head south together with accusations from Gaza civilians reported by Hamas reporters working for the paper that Israel is shooting civilians on the safe passage route - another common Hamas trope. (Ynet) After much pressure, the article headline has been adjusted to add “in response to the terrorist attack on October 7”.
🔹WILL WE FORGET what was done to our brothers on October 7, and to our hostages after? THE MEMORY of the Holocaust is fading with the lives of those who saw it. WHO will speak for the murdered babies of October 7 if we refuse to see it? Do not turn away, do not ignore, do not go about your lives. We will witness, we will speak for the murdered.

Raiding parties
In Culhwch and Olwen, Arthur and his friends sail to Ireland and, while guests in the house of Dyrnwch the Giant, kill their hosts and steal the magical Cauldron of Dyrnwch. A similar adventure is implied in the Spoils of Annwfn, in which Arthur and co. sail to the Welsh Underworld and rob it.
Imperial conquest
The Historia Regum Britanniae relates how Arthur conquered Scotland, Ireland, Iceland, Norway, France, and others. In the Alliterative Morte Arthure, Arthur conquers Rome after rampaging across Europe in order to make himself the new Emperor.
Mass infanticide
In Le Morte d'Arthur Merlin prophecies to Arthur that he'll be undone by a May Day newborn. Arthur ordains that all the kingdom's May Day babies be loaded aboard a ship and set adrift to die. This attempted "May Day Massacre" fails, and one of the children is Mordred.
Rape
Everyone knows Arthur fathered Mordred by his half-sister, but this incest was at least apparently consensual. The Post-Vulgate Cycle relates how Arthur raped the daughter of a knight, and demanded that a son born of the union share his name. When "Arthur the Less" grows up, he arrives at Camelot, shares the story in court, and is lovingly received by the king, who displays no shame for his actions. The court expresses no disapproval.
